my horrid little severance discussion gripe is that i do not in fact think that severance is about orpheus and eurydice because it is in fact the opposite mark did not go to the severed floor to get gemma back (although that’s the goal Now it was NOT his original goal) he did it to forget her completely because to live with the grief was completely unthinkable and his response was to try as hard as possible to run from it. the fact that gemma was down there anyways is because of course it’s inescapable. there’s more than one narrative about grief in the world you know. it’s different

#pers #it’s like dead absolute opposite. the orph reaction is i cannot live with grief so i will change the world to bring her back to not have to #the mark reaction is i cannot live without her so i will create a version of myself that doesn’t have to. it’s the opposite!!!#sometimes my sibling and i text each other about severance when other ppl have incorrect takes and we both say REAL GRIEVERS KNOW. cause #it’s true. real grievers lnow!!!!
