Something about almost everything in Buffy and Angel’s lives being complicated, including their relationship, but the one thing that’s entirely UNcomplicated is their love for each other. Like it’s really just so simple and they never pretend otherwise…even after they break up, they’re both like “yeah I fucking love this person with my entire heart” at the slightest mention of the other. They’re so gone for each other, ALWAYS.

“Um…is this that parallel underworld ghost bullshit you were talking about, Henderson?” Eddie asked, staring with wide eyes at the flickering lamp, feeling this strange pull to it despite every survival instinct screaming at him to run away. “Because I’m pretty sure the wiring in this house hasn’t been used in like forty years… so that’s not possible.”

No one answers as they all slowly come to crowd behind him, watching the faint little light in the lamp flicker on and off.

“T-that’s creepy shit.” Robin muttered under her breath. “Is that… is that him?”

“Could be, I don’t know… that seems sort of weak, but we should be—Hey, Eddie, wait!” Dustin hissed at him as he took a few steps closer. There was something almost hypnotic about it, like a slow pulse. A heartbeat.

It wasn’t evil, lost maybe… scared.

“Careful, man.” Lucas whispered as he reached the night stand, but Eddie was too mesmerized to listen, tilting his head at the glassy sound that was emitting from the old, delicate bulb. He could hear something. It was so quiet, he couldn’t be sure, but then it came again a little clearer.

“Eddie!”

He felt his heart jump in his chest. “…Chrissy?”

#dungeon meshi #izutsumi #marcille donato #chilchuk tims #I still stand by my tags on the Izutsumi character study piece I did in January - but I will repeat myself on a few lines here:#I *really* love this character. I love that all of the dungeon meshi crew are complicated and have difficult to love components.#But Izutsumi is a particular kind of hard to love. I foresee a lot of people being turned off by her abrasiveness and lack of teamwork.#She is very self-centered and openly goes against what the party agrees on.#She's a picky eater in a story that is 50% about eating good and healthy food!#It is in part about her growth but admittedly even *then* she remains rather true to her self-centeredness.#Even though she isn't as nice or funny or compassionate as the others...Izutsumi is still someone worth loving.#Even the more difficult people are someone worth loving.#And those people in turn are people who have something and someone they love.#She may be a girlcat but she is the most human of them all.#I hope that if you are an anime only watcher and are feeling put off by her at the moment; you'll give her a chance.#By the way: *yes* I worked very hard to draw that skateboard pose. So usually when an imaginary friend is a real thing in a story, it’s either a demon or a ghost or some supernatural boogeyman that probably wants to eat the kid they’ve befriended (Mama, a couple of the Paranormal Activity movies), or “imaginary friends” are just treated as a real thing in the setting, and if a child just thinks hard enough they can manifest a friend into existence (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Happy).

And somewhere in the middle is an area where the imaginary friend in question is real and they are supernatural, but they aren’t malevolent, and they aren’t entirely honest about what they are. Like maybe they’re a fairy or a god or some kind of boggle from mythology, but they just got caught by a six year old and they don’t have time to get into it, so they just go “…Yes. I’m your imaginary friend. We haven’t met. How do you do.” And then they stick around because they do love this kid, and if you’re a boggle from mythology in the modern day good food is really hard to come by.

And at some level. That’s what I think Hobbes is.
