I think about Jaime’s golden hand alllll the time. I feel like it’s so symbolic 

It’s symbolic of the way Tywin views him and the way his new disability is treated. Jaime lost his sword hand, so now he no longer has the prowess he was known for, the thing that made him valuable to Tywin. And when he gets back to Kings Landing there is no relief that he’s back alive, just disdain that someone would slight the Lannister house in such a way.

The golden hand is something not to aid Jaime, it’s purely to make him “normal” again. It’s plated gold as to show the strength of house Lannister. But because of that it’s incredibly heavy, hindering Jaime even more as he tries to learn how to fight again.

It’s not a practical prosthetic, it’s a big hunk of metal tied to his hand so his family can pretend like he isn’t disabled.

It is abuse. This is horribly damaging for a child. And what if they can’t control it? What if they’re late more times than not- because you know, their transport depends on the mercy of a whole ass different adult? They literally cannot control when they arrive to school. So now what, the would just be humiliated in the corner every day, isolated from their peers, literally powerless to stop it. That’s gonna permantly fuck up an 8year old this is so stupid
