Her full profile is finally here! Seven pages of information! I may have gone down the rabbit hole just a tiny bit!
.
St. Cecilia Jameson
Gender: Cis female
Status: Alive
Occupation: Singer for British rock band Stiletto ("Like the knife or like the shoe?" "Yes.")
Family: Elizabeth Robinson, née Wallis (Mother), Bryony Robinson (Older half-sister), Esme Robinson, née Davies (Grandmother, deceased), Herakles Zafeiriou (Biological father, though she's never met him), Evander Zafeiriou (Older half-brother, who she's also never met, though they've exchanged family photos and stories via email)
Voiced by: Florence Pugh (Speaking), Lzzy Hale (Singing)
Age: A few months younger than Pickles
Date of birth: December 15 (Sagittarius)
Place of birth: Oxford, England
Birth name: Felicity Robinson (Initially, only Sammy knows this, though the rest of SnB learns it at Esme's funeral)
Nicknames: Ceelie (By Pickles and Sammy, mostly, though the Dethklok boys pick it up eventually), Star (By Magnus), princess (By Skwisgaar)
Ethnicity: Half English, half Greek (Though she's unaware of the latter for most of her life)
Height: Five-foot-one
Sexuality: Bisexual
Relationship status: It's complicated. It's always complicated. She's unlucky in love.
Current location: London, England
Appearance: St. Cecilia is a petite woman (She's half a head shorter than Pickles!) with golden skin and long white-blonde hair, which she wears in a high ponytail. She has thick, dark brows and bright brown eyes (Skwisgaar says she has "wolf eyes"). She has three white marigolds tattooed on each shoulder, a labret piercing, and a vertical collarbone piercing at the hollow of her throat. Her ears are pierced three times each, in which she wears two silver hoops and a silver stud on each side, and she has a small black star beneath each eye. She has a Christina piercing, nipple piercings, and a belly button piercing. She has a No Time For Antivenom tattoo on her sternum, and a European robin tattoo at the back of her neck. Along her spine, she has a tattoo reading "to thine own self be true." She has a shitty stick-and-poke crown tattooed behind her right ear. She has a pear body type, with wide hips, a small chest, and an even smaller waist (Nathan can encircle her waist with his hands). She typically wears a black muscle shirt, ripped dark jeans, heavy boots, black driving gloves, and a studded black leather collar with a D-ring at the front. She also wears a Gibson pearl guitar pick on a necklace, which was given to her by Pickles when they first started dating in the 80s. She wears a silver cuff on each ear, and her tongue is pierced with a simple silver stud.
During flashbacks to the Snakes N' Barrels era, she's shown with darker blonde hair cut in a mullet style, and only her labret and ear piercings, plus one on the right side of her nose. She wears a cropped white tank, with high-waisted jeans and black Converse sneakers. She wears mismatched armbands, one black, one striped, and the same collar she wears in the present.
Her more casual look consists of a black button-up shirt with the sleeves pushed up, which she wears tucked into a pair of leather pants. She wears pumps instead of boots, and her hair is twisted up in a clip. She keeps her collar, but doesn't wear the pick necklace or her ear cuff, and she switches her hoop earrings for studs. She doesn't apply her stars.
For fancier occasions, she wears a black dress with spaghetti straps and a very short, flared skirt, black opera gloves and black strap pumps. She, as always, wears her collar with it, and she pulls her hair into a high bun.
Personality: St. Cecilia is cocky, witty, and teasing, but ultimately good-natured. She's a bit selfish and stubborn, but she does everything with 110% effort, hoping to impress people, even if she winds up getting hurt in the process. She'll do literally anything for validation. To say she's vain would be an understatement. She's something of a coquette who flirts with both men and women, and is she has a tendency to "think with her dick," as Tony once put it. She's slow to anger, but quick to jealousy, and she holds grudges for far too long. She's the playful type, but it's largely in a chill way. She's an obvious extrovert, and the role as frontman for Stiletto came very naturally.
Skills & Hobbies: St. Cecilia writes good poetry, great song lyrics, and terrible erotica. She likes plants and is quite the chess player (Though she hasn't managed to beat Charles even once), which she learned during her school days. She also learned to fence, ride horses, and speak fluent Latin there.
Musical Talents: She's a classically trained singer (When she was little, she was part of her church's choir), and she writes most of the song lyrics and some of the music for her band, Stiletto. In Snakes N' Barrels, she played lead guitar on a white Jackson Pro Series Rhoads RR3, but during their reunion concert, she plays a more modern Gibson Explorer '76 Reissue 2010 Cherry. She took piano lessons for several years as a child, and she's still pretty good. Nothing outstanding, but if Stiletto needs to incorporate a piano into a song, she's perfectly capable of playing it herself.
Relationships:
-Pickles the Drummer: Their relationship is a complicated one. They've known each other for ages, and they've been together through the highest highs and the lowest lows, all the way down to rock bottom. She partially blames him for her late teens and early twenties being the fiasco they were, and she cut off contact with him for a long time after the SnB breakup. During the run of the show itself, the two reconcile somewhat and even become more or less friends before Abigail shows up and things start to crumble again. They have a hard time admitting it, but there's love between them, and there has been for a long time. They're both afraid to try getting together again, though, as there's a mutual fear of the relationship ending as it did the first time, with them hating each other again. They're back together at the end of Doomstar, but there's no way of telling if the love between them is enough to keep them together or if they'll just fall apart all over again.
-Magnus Hammersmith: They were more off-and-on than anything, but they were together for years, even though quite a bit of it was long-distance. It wasn't supposed to be a serious thing. It was just supposed to be a quick fuck. Then it was supposed to be a performance to annoy Pickles, but Magnus quickly realized that St. Cecilia's feelings for Pickles were too strong for her to be any use to him in his revenge plot. The basis of their bond formed because they understood each other on a level they've never known with anyone else: Former Snakes N' Barrels guitarist St. Cecilia Jameson and former Dethklok guitarist Magus Hammersmith both understand on a fundamental level what it's like to be left behind and forgotten. Magnus caught a bit of feelings, and when Roy Cornickelson's funeral came around, Magnus warned St. Cecilia not to attend. It was their last interaction, and it forever cast him in a positive light for her, even after she learned what he was doing with the Metal Masked Assassin.
-Nathan Explosion: They get along pretty well. Their first meeting was at a singers-only Crystal Mountain party, and they ended the evening with a quickie in the coatroom. He wrote a song about the encounter, but Pickles never figured out that it was about St. Cecilia, which Nathan thinks is just the funniest thing. He mostly sees St. Cecilia as one of the guys once she meets with Dethklok again for the SnB reunion. It's a "been there, done that" kind of deal. She's not brutal, but she's funny and she's fun, and goddamn, is she pretty, and they would absolutely hang out if they could get their schedules to line up.
-Skwisgaar Skwigelf: St. Cecilia is nothing short of enchanted by Skwisgaar. It's not a crush, exactly, but she has a huge amount of admiration for him. They've practiced together a time or two, but she's a little rusty and winds up with her fingers bleeding because her calluses have gone soft. He tends to tease her over her soft hands. A guitar god, he tells her, can't have hands like a princess. His calling her “princess” becomes a bit of a thing for them. The two of them often have brunch together, talking shit and drinking. She's good for him; He's never had a female friend before.
-Toki Wartooth: Within the series itself, St. Cecilia hasn't given Toki much thought. He's cute, but he's just sorta there. His incident during the SOBERTOWN USA concert really scared her, and she more or less avoids him after that. Post-DSR, though, their relationship changes. He, like her, was hurt by Magnus, and even with him dead, Toki misses him terribly. St. Cecilia misses him, too. As sad as it is, this becomes their common ground. Their other connection, odd as it sounds, is pole dancing. St. Cecilia does it for exercise, and Toki did it for money, and they often compete to see who's better on the pole.
-William Murderface: St. Cecilia actually has a begrudging fondness for Murderface. He's awful, but he's also pretty funny, and she likes to hear him talk about knives and medieval weaponry, as her family home is full of such things. They clash over things, of course, but she likes being around him more often than not.
-Charles Offdensen: St. Cecilia really likes Charles, actually. He's basically the only person on the show who's really "on her level" class-wise. He attended Harvard, and she attended Oxford, so they have a great deal to talk about. They play a lot of chess and fence on occasion, and if it weren't for her feelings for Pickles and his obligation to the Church, they just might have gotten together.
-Dick Knubbler: They're friends, in a way. She thinks he's kind of a weirdo, but he knows how to have a good time, so as long as he isn't hitting on her, she likes being around him.
-Abigail Remeltincdrinc: They became friends mostly due to the fact that they were both women in the music industry (And both working for Crystal Mountain) and supporting each other seemed the right thing to do. Abigail getting involved with Dethklok and catching Pickles's attention quickly became a sore spot, and they drifted apart after that. After DSR, things got even worse. Abigail, naturally, is glad that Magnus is gone, while St. Cecilia is devastated by the loss. They had something of a falling-out over it, and they haven't really spoken since.
-Edgar Jomfru: Despite being very different people, St. Cecilia really enjoys Edgar's company. He merely tolerates her at first, but she grows on him, to the point where they're legitimately friends come Doomstar. The two of them often have lunch together on the roof of Mordhaus so they can get some fresh air.
-Family: St. Cecilia's family consists of her mother, Elizabeth, her older sister, Bryony, and her now-deceased grandmother, Esme. St. Cecilia has a very formal, cold relationship with her mother, and she has no desire to change that. As far as she's concerned, her mother doesn't deserve to have a good relationship with her. St. Cecilia adores Bryony, though. Though Elizabeth brags about her, Bryony remains modest and is very close with her sister because of it. Though there's seven years between them, they may as well be twins. Esme, who passed away in 1993, was more of a mother to St. Cecilia than Elizabeth ever was, and St. Cecilia still misses her terribly. She was a big part of getting SnB off the ground, and the boys even came to her funeral.
-Snakes N' Barrels: St. Cecilia adores all the boys, of course, but Sammy is the only one she really kept in touch with after the breakup. He was her favorite long before Pickles joined. There was a pregnancy scare not long after the band took off that somehow, against all odds, brought the two of them even closer. Sammy was St. Cecilia's first love. Her relationships with Tony and Snazz were much more professional, though none of them were anywhere near professional. The crown tattoo behind her right ear was done by Tony on a drunken night in, and it was too good a night for her to even consider covering it or getting it removed.
-Stiletto: She gets along with them all quite well! She's known Niamh McLoughlin, their bassist, the longest, and their friendship dates back to their school days. Lex Clarke and Priyanka Dayal, the drummer and the guitarist respectively, came as a package deal, as they've been more or less married for years. St. Cecilia adores them and the sweetness of their relationship. She's a little envious of them, actually, though she would never say so.
History:
-Childhood: St. Cecilia was born in Oxford, England to Elizabeth Robinson. She was raised more or less at her family's girls-only boarding school, away from her mother. When she was fourteen, she fell off a horse during an equestrian class and badly injured her shoulder. She was one of the popular girls during her school days, up until she hit fifteen and decided that she was no longer a child and had a right to demand respect from her emotionally distant mother. She quit the piano lessons she had been taking for several years and took up the guitar, though it aggravated her injured shoulder and even as a teen, she developed a dependence on painkillers. This rebellious period stretched until she was sixteen and ran away with the help of her grandmother. St. Cecilia was given her name just before she left, so it would be easier for her to hide, as well as a hefty sum to tide her over until she could get herself settled. She was only in LA for a few weeks before she met Sammy at a bar where the SnB prototype band was playing. Naturally, Snazz and Tony weren't thrilled with the idea of Sammy's kinda-sorta-girlfriend trying to become their lead guitarist, and when Snazz disparagingly referred to St. Cecilia as Yoko, she broke his nose (How could he have not expected violence when a Beatles-loving British girl was called such a horrible thing?). This earned their respect and is an event that they laugh about to this day.
-Snakes n' Barrels era: St. Cecilia stuck with the band for several months before they found Pickles, and she was smitten with him the moment she heard him sing. Esme was an important source of financial support during their formative years. The band made it big after not too long, and they all grew quite close. St. Cecilia ended up in an ill-fated off-and-on relationship with Pickles as time went on, and to this day she doesn't remember the first time she told him she loved him. It wasn't long after his first OD and his following stint in rehab that she told him, and they were both drunk in celebration of his release. His tolerance, even post-rehab, was far higher than hers, though, and he remembers, though he sometimes hates that he does. Though there was genuine love between them, the stress of the band and both of their substance abuse problems drove a wedge between not only the couple, but also the entire band. Coupled with Pickles fucking groupies behind St. Cecilia's back and St. Cecilia's becoming a rather serious Vicodin addict to combat the pain in her injured shoulder, the band was doomed. Pickles came to see St. Cecilia off on her flight back to England, saying he would meet her there when his next residuals check came in, but he never made it, and they didn't speak to each other for years afterward. It hurt, but St. Cecilia supposed it was for the best. A clean break, and all that.
-Preklok: After SnB broke up, St. Cecilia returned to Oxford, staying with Bryony in their mother's guest house as she tried to figure out her next move. Despite her gift for writing lyrics, she had no talent for writing books, and that idea quickly went down the drain. She still received a large amount of money in residuals, but she was reduced to a mere socialite, though it mostly agreed with her. At her mother's insistence, she attended a few classes at Oxford University. She absolutely loved it. In 1992, Esme passed away. St. Cecilia only told Sammy about it, but he took the initiative and brought Pickles, Tony and Snazz with him to the funeral. St. Cecilia was initially pissed, but she really appreciated the support. That was the only time she saw Pickles between SnB's breakup and their reunion concert. He was devastated when her parting words to him were "I love you with everything I am, but I never wanna see you again." In the mid-90s, she posed for an issue of Playboy, and Pickles has a copy of the issue tucked away somewhere. It wasn't until 1998, when she moved to a little flat in London, that St. Cecilia reunited with her school friend Niamh and the idea of Stiletto came about. They found Priyanka and Lex at an open mic night at one of the local clubs, and they hit it off, both as friends and as bandmates. They played at many clubs and pubs, and they were soon found by a scout at another open mic night. They signed with the UK branch of Crystal Mountain Records and were assigned the surly but efficient Melinda Glasscock as their manager, and within three years, Stiletto was huge, due in part to St. Cecilia's residual fame from Snakes N' Barrels. Their first tour was through Europe, but the second came to America, where St. Cecilia met Magnus in a bar post-show. They got on really well, and she invited him to her hotel room for the night. They exchanged numbers and got quite close over time, with her even flying him out to London from time to time so they could hang out. Magnus knew who she was from the start, and while he planned to use her feelings for Pickles to get her on his side, that soon faded and he came to genuinely like her. She wouldn't learn who he was until later on. A few years before canon, she had a quickie with Nathan in a coat room at a singers-only part at Crystal Mountain records, and he used the fact that she couldn't fit her mouth around his dick as inspiration for Dethklok's infamous song "Glasgow Smile."
-Season 1:
-St. Cecilia's first mention within the confines of canon is during Performance Klok, when Pickles mentions he hasn't been in a serious relationship since the '80s despite the fact that he would certainly thrive under such attention.
-She first appears in Snakes N' Barrels, during the documentary the Dethklok is watching. The guys are a little critical when they (Save Nathan, who's known for a long time) learn that part of SnB's downfall was due to Pickles's failed relationship with St. Cecilia. There's some comedic nonsense talk about fucking one's guitarist before Pickles goes to speak with Charles. Though St. Cecilia is working on an album with Stiletto when she's asked to go the reunion, she manages to push through and finish in time, though she arrives nearly late. She finds Pickles backstage, and when he sweeps in to kiss her, she pulls away a bit, saying they can't do this, as she's spoken for. She lets him hold her close, though. The rest of Dethklok finds them like that, and St. Cecilia excuses herself to go find Sammy, Tony and Snazz. There's some talk about Pickles not leaving Dethklok, which he says he won't, but they're rather worried after catching him with St. Cecilia in his arms. Meanwhile, she manages to find the boys, and they meet with Pickles backstage. While the boys partake of the Totally Awesome Sweet Alabama Liquid Snake, St. Cecilia doesn't, as she once humiliated herself by passing out on stage and doesn't wish to repeat the incident. She presses a kiss to Pickles's palm before they go on stage, an old ritual that they were never able to shake. What happens is far worse than someone just passing out, and she and Pickles leave the stage amidst the chaos while the medical Klokateers take care of the boys and see them off to the hospital. It's a disaster. She's embarrassed and angry, and she turns down Pickles's offer of a ride home and calls someone instead, as she didn't get her money converted and can't pay for a cab. This someone turns out to be the man who's claimed her, Magnus, and Pickles is none too happy about it. He tries to stop her from going with him, but it doesn't work.
-She isn't seen in Dethkids, but she is mentioned. When Pickles starts drinking harder than usual, he finally gives in to the urge to call her, to talk about how Sammy and Snazz and Tony are doing, and to tell her that she should steer clear of Magnus. He's so drunk, though, that she barely has even an idea of what he's talking about.
-Offscreen, but somewhere between the two SnB episodes, Magnus and St. Cecilia abruptly break up. She has a feeling something was going on with him, but his sudden disappearance really hurt her. They had been together off and on for years, after all. A few weeks before he left, he bought her a little pink knife and showed her how to use it, just in case he wasn't around to protect her. When he left, he left his guitar behind, and she still has it as of Doomstar.
-Season 2:
-She's mentioned by Seth in Dethwedding, though only as "that British chick" he thought Pickles would eventually have married. Pickles nearly decks him for even mentioning her.
-St. Cecilia's next appearance is in Snakes N' Barrels II. In part one, during the advertisement for the SOBERTOWN USA concert, she's missing from the band lineup, and Pickles is both relieved and a little concerned by her absence.
-In SnB II part two, Nathan, Skwisgaar and Toki find her among the crowd at the SOBERTOWN USA concert. Nathan asks if she wasn't invited to play, but she says that she was: She just didn't think it was right to play without Pickles. Realizing that Pickles is sneaking around backstage, she leaves to go find him and try to keep him from doing something he'll regret. She only finds him just as Tony, Snazz and Sammy start freaking out, and she only just manages to keep Pickles from killing Rikki Kixx, though she honestly doesn't mind the thought of him dead. She pulls Pickles away from the stage, where he calls the Klokateers to take care of Sammy, Snazz and Tony, and she sets to icing down his bruised knuckles. She tells him that she and Magnus broke up, and he's thoroughly pleased about it: She's too good for him, anyway. That irritates her a bit, but she tells him to call her sometime, though she insists he do it when he's not drunk off his ass.
-Season 3:
-Ironically, when Pickles calls her in Dethhealth to inform her that he's dying, he's in fact drunk again. She wants to go to Mordhaus to see him, but he tells her to stay where she is, as he doesn't want her seeing him like that, though she's seen him at rock bottom as it is. At the end of the episode, he's drunker and higher than ever, but he calls her again to let her know he's all right. She can't understand him, though, so he puts Nathan on to explain. She’s thoroughly relieved, but she’s still considering going to Mordhaus to see him. She implores of Nathan, "Take care of him, all right?"
-Offscreen, in the time between Dethhealth and Dethmas, Pickles goes to London for a while to appease St. Cecilia, and to their mutual surprise, it's not really all that different from how it was when they were actually together. There's lots of cuddling and kissing and great sex and just... Hanging out. It's easy for them to be together. They have their share of problems, but the old spark between them is still there. Pickles is honestly a little scared of that: What if he falls for her all over again just for her to break his heart like she did last time? The fact that she has Magnus's guitar makes him doubly suspicious. He starts drinking harder than ever to drown out the thoughts of her.
-In Rehabklok, when Pickles's drinking is brought to the attention of the band and he's sent to rehab, he tries for a while to blame it on St. Cecilia. She broke his heart, and he drinks to cope. It makes perfect sense, until he starts to really think about it and realizes that he's equally at fault for how their relationship (And also SnB) fell apart. He realizes, after many years, that he hurt her as badly as she hurt him. And that makes him feel even worse. He talks the doctor into letting him call her to apologize, but it doesn't go well: She's a little offended that he would even consider blaming her for his drinking, given he was a drunk long before they met. "Is that what I am to you now? An excuse to get drunk and act a fool?" Not long after that, Pickles realizes the real cause for his drinking.
-Just before Charles goes to speak to the UN in Doublebookedklok, he calls St. Cecilia and cryptically asks her if she speaks Latin. She owes him a favor for getting her out of some legal trouble, so she can't really refuse. Several months before, she punched a scummy paparazzo who called Magnus washed-up, and Charles used his reeducation program to keep those involved from pressing charges or damaging St. Cecilia's reputation.
-Season 4:
-In Fanklok, before Charles meets with the band to discuss Klokikon, he welcomes St. Cecilia to Mordhaus and presents her with an ancient-looking journal that belonged to Aurelius Isambard, one of the original prophets of the Church of the Black Klok. She's taken down to the basement, where she's introduced to Edgar Jomfru, and gets to work.
-In Diversityklok, after he's spoken to Edgar, Charles speaks to St. Cecilia. He finds her engrossed, but thoroughly worried. She asks if this is real, and she's even more worried when he tells her it is.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia has been hard at work translating the journal, and she's come to a passage that seems to describe the growing tension between the band. It also mentions an approaching star, and she takes to sitting on the roof at night to observe the sky.
-In Prankklok, when Pickles tells Nathan that he's not allowed to drink any tequila during their friender-bender, Nathan tells him he can't visit St. Cecilia when they stop in London. Pickles reluctantly agrees. Not long after, we see Pickles on his phone, though, debating on calling her just before he notices the storm warning.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia approaches Charles about a phrase repeated over and over in the journal: Fata sidus oritur, the star of fate is born.
-After Charles breaks the news about Ice Festival to Skwisgaar in Bookklok, he goes to speak with St. Cecilia and Edgar in the basement. She's tacked two star maps to the wall: One from the previous week and one from the previous night. There's a spot near the center of the first map that seems bigger on the second one. She looks like the world is ending when she tells him it's the Doomstar. It's real. It's coming? When? Soon, she says. Far too soon.
-When Charles tells the boys he's going out of town in Dethcamp, it's to take St. Cecilia to an observatory, where they meet with Ishnifus and spend a few days tracking the Doomstar's movement as it comes closer and closer to Earth.
-In Going Downklok, when Pickles shows up all decked out for his meeting with Abigail, Nathan is quick to ask, "Don't you have a girlfriend?" Pickles insists he doesn't; He and St. Cecilia was hurt and angry the last time they spoke. On top of that, he believes she's all the way in London, and Abigail is right there.
-Offscreen, between Dethdinner and Breakup Klok, St. Cecilia is tagged in the video of Pickles leaving Dethklok by a drunken Toki. She's incredibly hurt. Pickles has nothing, he said. She, apparently, is nothing.
-In Breakup Klok, Pickles tries to call St. Cecilia to invite her to his wine tasting, but she refuses to answer and sends him straight to voicemail. Towards the end of the episode, after the escape from Salacia, Charles requests a check-up on Edgar and St. Cecilia back at Mordhaus, and Pickles is stunned and angry to learn that she's been more or less within arm's reach for months. Had he known, he's certain things would have been different-- He wouldn't have tried to make a move on Abigail and he wouldn't have fucked up his chance to get back with St. Cecilia again.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia speaks to Charles about staying at a hotel for a few days, just until Roy Cornickelson's funeral, after which she'll return to Mordhaus and her translation work. The day of the funeral, though, she receives a call from Magnus telling her she absolutely cannot attend, as he can't guarantee her safety. It's the last time she has contact with him before his death. We also see her watching the news about Dethklok's breakup and the insinuation that Abigail caused it, and St. Cecilia chucks a bottle at the TV, mirroring Pickles's actions in SnB II.
-In Church of the Black Klok, St. Cecilia is fetched from the hotel by Klokateers and taken to the Dethsub, where she meets with Charles, pointedly ignores Pickles, and goes to work with Edgar instead.
-The Doomstar Requiem:
-In "One of Us Must Die," St. Cecilia can be seen on one of the slides, staring up into the sky with Isambard's journal held to her chest. Towards the end of the song, reading from the book, she sings, "Dethklok, they must be rejoined/Evil, it must be destroyed/No more apathetic stoics/They can learn to be heroic/Write the song that will be our salvation..."
-In "Training," while carrying the journal, she sings the lyrics, "As the prophecy foretold, the Doomstar has been born/And you all will be endowed with a power known to none." Nathan, Skwisgaar and Murderface are looking at the art of the Prophecy, but Pickles is watching her. Ishnifus places a hand upon her shoulder, and they sing together, "The Deth lights are within you all waiting to be woken/And when the five are united, the evil will be broken," in a show of solidarity.
-In "En Antris et Stella Fatum Cruenti," just after Ishnifus is killed and the Doomstar goes red, we see a shot of Charles, Edgar and St. Cecilia at the Church, watching the sky.
-In "Morte Lumina," in a mirror to Nathan and Abigail's kiss, we see Pickles approach St. Cecilia, and she presses a kiss to his palm (Which is a really significant gesture between them) before he pulls her into his arms.
Trivia:
-The stars on her cheeks are actually a makeup trick, as she's afraid to have a needle so close to her eyes.
-She smokes Honeyrose Cherry cigarettes (Which have roughened her voice a bit), but she doesn't drink to excess, save when she's with Pickles. He's a terrible influence on her, but she adores him just the same. Considering him and Magnus, she has rather bad taste in men.
-Her signature scent is Estée Lauder's Cinnabar, which features notes of jasmine, orange blossom, cloves, and patchouli. She uses a cinnamon body oil when she wants to get Pickles's attention. It always works.
-She wants nothing more than to be loved, but she's keenly aware of the fact that most of the people who "love" her only want to coast on her fame. It's resulted in her having a hard time trusting people. The fact that Pickles and the rest of Dethklok don't need to coast off her is part of why she likes them so much.
-She's an iced coffee addict, and she prefers chocolate, caramel, or hazelnut varieties.
-She was raised Catholic, and while she lapsed a long time ago, she has occasional bouts of Catholic Guilt. Her name is related to her religion, as St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music.
-Her preferred alcohol is Bombay Sapphire gin, though she also likes white wine and champagne.
-She's a plant mom. Her flat is full of plants, including a little devil's tongue cactus she bought at a farmer's market in LA when she first came to America. It's traveled the world with her! It lived in the cupholder of Snazz's van for several years, and now it lives in her kitchen, perched on top of the microwave.
-She has a pretty serious oral fixation. She's always got something in her mouth: A cigarette, a pen, a popsicle, someone's fingers, a dick. Depends on her mood. Getting her tongue pierced helped a little, as she can play with the stud, but some habits just can't be broken.
-She and the rest of Stiletto own a condo building in London together, and she naturally has the penthouse to herself. It's very airy and open, with lots of mirrors and plants and exposed brick. One corner of her living room is just a huge window that looks out on the city. It's her favorite feature. Magnus is too nervous to go near it.

Leaving a former assassin turned mob boss alone with his thoughts and anger about his... Whatever him and Carly are, since that seems to change every ten minutes going through what she went through, is a stupid idea. Especially for two hours.
It's either that or confront the fact they've kissed and had sex in the same 24 hours.
Not exactly the most friendly things to do.
This is exactly what he's not supposed to be thinking about, yet it's what he's thinking about while he's sitting in a chair at the hospital.
Turns out that when he's not doing illegal things, he can actually have time to think and not freak out about the cops finding out what happened. Time to think about them and how he doubts they'll ever go back to normal. A one night stand is one thing, a kiss after you get kidnapped and raped is a completely other thing.
Go figure, the one person who he could willingly discuss this with is the same person who he can't right now.
Maybe talking about this with Sam would work?
Nope, scratch that. Even though she's moved on from their relationship, they're not that close of friends and really only hang out for their kids sake.
If this was a year ago, he'd say he should go to Sonny, since he can't go to Carly about it. But then again, if it was a year ago or if Sonny hadn't vanished, been presumed dead long enough for even Carly to believe it (which meant he, by extension, believed it finally as well), last night never would've happened. Not in a million-
Alright maybe it would've happened but he doubts it. After all, a year ago, he was with Sam and Carly was with Sonny.
Does this count as a betrayal, sleeping with her? Not like conceiving a child on his biological brother's grave with the woman who's the reason he's dead. Or knowing that your best friend is in love with someone but sleeping with her anyways out of horniness.
Maybe he's still a little bit mad about those things.
Or a lot bit mad.
Thinking of all the times Sonny's betrayed him is definitely not helping the fact that anger is just about the only emotion he's feeling right now. Notably, that comes with the exception of confused and that one's only because he's seriously confused about what the hell him and Carly are right now.
Just thinking about what she must be going through right now... It makes him so furious he could take someone out for even mentioning the word. Or something negative even in the slightest bit about her.
That last part might be a telltale sign he needs to do an evaluation of his feelings for her but after this. Probably should right now, but he doesn't want to.
Even the mention of what happened to her, which is spreading through the hospital like wildfire (whoever spread that information first is on his shit list and that is not a good place to be), makes his blood boil.
Cyrus did that to her, he decided to treat her like an object. Like she's some disposable thing, that after he had his fun with her she'll be killed to hurt his business competitor. And the fact that he'd managed to scare her, that he'd managed to do something so difficult he thought it would never happen again unless something happened to one of her kids or him. That part makes him want his head on a stick outside his front door.
And the only reason he did it is to hurt Jason, to make him feel hopeless and in despair and angry and hurt. The only reason she went through that is because of him. That's the worst part, for him, that he's responsible for her going through that, that it's his fault. Even though he knows that's not how it went down, that he's not responsible for Cyrus's actions or her kidnapping and rape, that's sure as hell what it feels like. It feels like everything's getting blurry, like the lines he had drawn in his life are bleeding into each other.
Keep her safe, that was always his number one rule. Even if it meant getting hurt himself (which it normally did), keeping her safe has always been his priority. It's why he tries, unsuccessfully, to shelter her from the mob.
When she needed him, really needed him, he couldn't do that for her. He wasn't there when she needed him the most, when she needed him to save her and get her out of that situation.
No matter how you frame it, what he's doing is beating himself up for something that he knows to be his fault. Maybe if he'd been there, sent someone else to deal with Florence and stayed at the house with her, he wouldn't be dealing with this right now. Maybe then, she wouldn't have been kidnapped and raped.
"Jason?" Britt asks him, noticing he's zoned out. "She's fine. Carly's not pregnant and we gave her a pill just in case to prevent against it. She doesn't have HIV or any other STD's, I ran a full test. As far as I can tell, her uterine health is great right now."
"Thanks, for the update," he thanks her, remembering where he is. "Can I, uh, can I go see her?"
"Yeah, the sedative wore off and she's been complaining and crying for a few minutes. She's in room 3115," she tells him, noting the relief and pain on his face. "You doing okay?"
"What matters right now is whether Carly's okay or not." Jason answers her quickly and his feet take him to the room she's in, somehow. He doesn't even know this hospital that well.
That's new.
"I woke up a few minutes ago and they told me they were looking for you, where were you?" Carly asks, aggravated.
"I was in the lobby," he tells her, wiping away her tears as they come. There's a look of relief on her face through everything, which doesn't surprise him in the slightest.
"Why didn't they let you in before the sedative wore off? I thought I'd been taken again, I was yelling for you," the blonde complains.
"Apparently I'm a hard guy to find."
"You have seven black shirts, seven pairs of blue jeans which you haven't replaced since the 90s, and a leather jacket. That's pretty much all you ever wear. I can't remember the last time you wore a suit. Or a shirt with any color in it at all. How hard could it be to find you?"
"You're just saying that because you always know where I am. It's a sixth sense of yours."
"True. Maybe it's time to spice up your wardrobe with some colorful shirts. We could start with blue and then ease into colors like yellow or white eventually," she suggests cheerfully.
"Carly," he warns. "I like my clothes."
"I know you do, but you need more variety in your life, Jason," Carly argues.
"You keep life interesting enough, trust me," he assures her. "I'm sorry for what happened to you tonight, you know that, right? It's my fault, if I'd gotten there sooner or I hadn't left you alone, this never would've happened."
"No, it's not. Cyrus would've gotten me another way, or he might've gone and snatched one of your kids. Danny, Scout, Jake, they don't deserve that. Neither did I, but if that happened to one of your kids? You wouldn't be able to live with yourself and he could've killed them easier. At least with me, I'm alive. Severely traumatized, but alive," Carly says, hugging him gently as to not hurt herself.
"Yeah but if I'd been there to protect you-"
"Then he would've gotten to you another way or waited until you went to sleep or went back to your dull apartment where the only piece of decor is a moss bowl. I'm a target, alright? We've known this for years, and what happened to me is not your fault. It's as much my fault as it is yours. No one deserves what he did to me, not even that dirt bag himself, and you cannot blame yourself."
"He did this to you as a way to hurt me!"
"And if Sonny were still around it would've been as a way to hurt Sonny. He hates me, alright? Cyrus hates me so much he wanted to hurt me, just as bad as he wanted to hurt you. It's not your fault that he's a monster." She attempts to help him see that it's not his fault, but he doesn't.
"The only reason you know about this business is me. Practically every bad thing you've gone through, Carly, is because of me by extension," he tells her, feeling a tear slip out of his eyes.
"You didn't force me to be a part of the business, Jason. Hell, it was your worst nightmare. I made that choice for myself, to marry Sonny and, when he died, helping you run his territory. I knew the risks and I did it for me, for you, for my family."
"For me?" Jason asks, confused. "How do I factor in?"
"How do you factor in? You're my family and you needed help. Of course I was going to help you! Even when you tried to talk me out of it," the blonde continues, smiling widely.
"That help could've come with Max or Milo or someone else."
"And there's a reason it came in the shape of me. You trust me more than them, even with this business," she smiles.
To be continued when school ends because FUCK IT'S BACK NO

Friday, September 20th, 2019
The week passed on slowly. Like usual, Grayson was caught up with work so seeing him during week nights was unlikely. He was still working on finding a position for Florence as he had promised. Daniel was as distant as ever. He did return her call but was dry the entire time they spoke. Even Florence’s stories about Clementine didn’t get as much of a response as usual. She missed him terribly but knew what ever he was hung up on would pass and they would go back to normal eventually.
Clementine enjoyed having Grayson around; she always seemed to take a liking to him since the first day at the Mommy group. He was good with her; patient and sweet. When he held her on his hip, the sight made Florence melt; his broad body contrasted by the tiny baby curled up against him.
Fridays were their nights now, spending the night at either of their places. The apartment was easier because Clementine was able to stay, she didn’t have anything at Grayson’s. It made Florence think of Daniel, how he went out of his way to buy things for the baby to allow her to be comfortable in his house.
Grayson had helped get Clementine into bed one night, offering to read her a story and tuck her in. Florence could feel herself falling for him more and more as time went by. He was the perfect combination of sweet and polite and youthful.
Florence waited on the couch, a movie queued up on the TV, for when Grayson returned. He soon came tiptoeing out of the nursery and climbed on the couch next to her, kissing her softly.
“She went down okay?” Florence mumbled against his lips.
“Mhm. What are we watching?” Grayson asked, pulling her against him by her waist as she grabbed the TV remote.
“The Backup Plan.” Florence said, draping her legs across his lap.
“Sounds boring.” he teased, lips attaching to her neck.
“It’s not.” Florence giggled, curling in at the sensation. “I can relate to it.”
“Can’t we all relate to Rom Coms with Jennifer Lopez as the lead star?” Grayson raised an eyebrow.
“Stop making fun of me!” Florence scolded, gently slapping the back of her hand to his chest. The first scene had barely started when there was a heavy knock at the door.
“You expecting someone?” Grayson asked.
“No.” Florence said. “And people normally have to buzz up.”
She got to her feet, setting the remote back on the table. Grayson let his hand fall to her ass, making her glare at him.
“I’ll be right back.” she leaned down to kiss him before making her way down the hallway.
Another knock sounded as she reached the foyer and she threw open the door to be met with eyes she never thought she’d see again. The piercing stare was intense and Florence felt her stomach turn.
“Hi.” he spoke slowly.
Florence tried to form words but nothing came out. Matt stood in front of her like nothing was wrong, hands in his pockets and hair side-swept like usual.
“Thought I’d come by to say hello.”
“You need to leave.” Florence spoke quietly.
“Don’t be like that.” Matt chuckled, leaning one arm against the door frame. The alcohol on his breath was apparent and it sent shivers down Florence’s spine.
“You said you wouldn’t come back.” Florence spoke, her voice trembling.
“Well I missed you.” Matt hiccupped, ruffling his hair. “I missed Clementine.”
“I don’t care.” Florence said through her teeth. “I don’t care if you want to convince yourself that that’s the truth.”
“Aw, baby, listen.” Matt set his hands on her cheeks. “I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I said some fucked up things that I didn’t mean but I took time to think it all through and I’m back now. For good.”
“Matt-“
“Where’s my little girl?” he went to walk into the apartment but Florence stepped in front of him.
“You need to go. Now.”
“I want to see my daughter.”
“It’s 9pm, Matt. She’s in bed already.”
“I don’t care. I just want to see her.” Matt tried to get past her again but Florence held her ground, a hand on either side of the doorframe.
“Why are you being such a bitch?” Matt frowned.
Florence simply glared at him.
“What’s going on?”
She had never been more relieved to hear Grayson’s voice. He set a hand on her shoulder and eyed Matt.
“Oh nice.” Matt scoffed. “You got all up on me about fucking Hannah but here you are whore-ing around the city.”
Florence let out a noise that was somewhere between a gasp and a scoff.
“Hey, man. Watch it.” Grayson warned.
“Who the fuck are you to tell me what to do? This is my family.” Matt jabbed.
“You should go.” Grayson said, his eyes dark with protection.
“No! This has happened before, okay? You don’t understand how things work around here.” Matt raised a finger to silence him. “I leave to get my head in the right place and then I come back and all is well again. Right, babe?”
His stare that fell on Florence made her shift uncomfortably.
“Right?” he pressed a hand to her cheek.
Grayson pushed his arm back, “Don’t touch her.”
“Fuck you, man.” Matt shook his head. “This is my girlfriend. Your dick has done its job so you can go now.”
“Excuse me?” Grayson laughed humourlessly.
“How much do we owe you?”
Grayson simply gaped at him in disbelief.
“You’re looking at me like I’m crazy. There’s no way this prude got a real guy within a week and a half.”
“Matt.” Florence tried to scold him, her voice coming out in barely a whisper.
“Yeah. She did. So turn around and go on back to your lame high school party and drink till you puke.” Grayson snapped.
The darkness in his voice made Florence stay silent. She had never seen him like this. Matt pushed his way into the foyer, taking advantage of Florence’s weak stance. He didn’t get far before Grayson grabbed his bicep.
“Don’t push me.” he said.
“You don’t scare me.” Matt scoffed.
“I will if you don’t get the fuck out right now.”
Matt looked like a twig next to Grayson. They were almost the same height but Grayson had the muscle mass to put Matt’s scrawny bones to shame. Florence watched the scene unfold, her heart in her throat. Her cheek tingled where Matt had touched her; the simple action washing back so many memories like tidal waves. How he held her close under the bed sheets in his childhood bedroom. How he spoke gentle words to her through the phone during their late night calls. How he could kiss her to have her forget the pain. But he was the pain. He was the source and the solution to her pain and it was a vicious, never ending cycle.
Florence had her back against the wall of the foyer, across from the door where the backlit shadows of two men stood. Everything felt so far away, their voices muddled as she stayed frozen in place. She had been doing so well, moving on and forgetting all about Matt; and then he came back with empty promises that she knew all too well.
Florence’s heart ached as she remembered the hallway torments to her brother, the terrible words shouted across the classroom, the look in Callum’s eyes when he found out about them. How could she have done that to her brother? Her small sob went unnoticed by the bickering men in front of her. Their voices were drowned out by the voice of her father, his scolding words and the sharp snap of the leather belt. How she wished he was there to treat her exactly how she felt. Disposable and empty.
The slam of the front door broke her thoughts. Grayson was alone with her now, at her side in seconds. Florence couldn’t hear what he was saying, her heartbeat loud and thumping in her ears and her shallow breaths overtaking her clear vision. She slid to the floor against the wall and cried numbly into her knees. Grayson got down with her, helplessly stroking her hair and whispering mumbled sentences.
“D-Daniel.” Florence finally stumbled out. “I want Daniel.”
Grayson moved fast, grabbing her cell phone from the living room. Florence felt the room spinning, her whole world falling around her in broken memories. She hated herself for it, for everything. For spending too much time with the boy who ruined Callum’s life, making her fail that math test. Therefore being the reason her family left Canada. For driving her brother away from her; how he rarely answers his phone.
Time moved slowly but oh-so-quickly. Grayson’s movements as if he was turned into slow motion but fast as Daniel was through that door in an instant. Grayson stood to the side as Daniel fell to his knees in front of Florence, taking her face in his hands.
“Hey, sweetheart. I’m here, okay? It’s alright.” his voice was muffled, as if he was at the end of a long tunnel. She watched him with stone cold eyes.
Daniel turned to Grayson, “Can you grab her a glass of water and a cool damp cloth please?”
Grayson flashed out of the picture, Florence scrunching her eyes closed as the morphed reality made her head pound. She could feel Daniel moving to sit next to her, pulling her into him, draping her legs over his lap and resting her head on his chest. His left hand gently rubbed up and down her back.
“Breathe with me.” Daniel whispered. “In...and out...”
Florence tried to follow his instruction, her body weak and frozen. She felt limp against Daniel’s form and he could feel it. Grayson bent down in front of them, the exchange between him and Daniel going unnoticed by the girl. The cool cloth on her flushed face made her flinch.
Daniel hummed quietly into her hair. He gently patted her face with the cloth, the action enough starting to bring her back down.
“Breathe in.” he whispered. Florence’s trembling inhale was sharp and jagged but he didn’t take notice. “And out.”
After a few of those, her breathing was starting to become more steady.
“Focus on me.” Daniel encouraged, handing the cloth back to Grayson. She looked up at him, staring into his ocean blue eyes. Daniel smiled, “There you are.”
She watched his smile without a word, each curve of his lips and the little gap between his teeth. He tucked her hair behind her ear and leaned down to kiss her head. Florence let her eyes close. The rim of the glass touching her lips took her by surprise and the water that followed made her shiver with cold.
“Little sip please.” Daniel breathed.
Florence complied, taking a small sip before turning away.
“Is she okay?”
Grayson’s voice made her startle, forgetting he was there.
“Yeah. Just had a panic attack. She hadn’t had one in a while.” Daniel mumbled.
“This has happened before?” Grayson asked.
“Once since I’ve known her. Before the baby was born.” Daniel answered, offering her another drink of water.
“You really know what to do.” Grayson stated, admirably.
“I don’t know how.” Daniel chuckled. “She woke up one night like this and I just snapped into this protector mode and it just worked.”
“She talks so highly of you.” Grayson whispered.
Daniel smiled shyly, looking down at the girl in his arms. “I would hope so. She’s my best friend in the whole world.”
The three fell into silence.
“I’m sorry I’ve been claiming so much of her time.” Grayson said.
“Don’t apologize. I’m the one who should be sorry. I was being a selfish jerk.” Daniel waved him off. “You make her so happy and she does not shut up about you.”
The two guys chuckled between themselves. Florence wrapped her arm over Daniel’s chest, holding the material of his green t-shirt in her hand.
“Let’s get you into bed.” Daniel whispered to her.
“I can carry her.” Grayson offered as he got to his feet. Daniel watched as she was picked up from his grasp and Grayson carried her with ease to the master bedroom. Florence’s weak body curled into Grayson’s strong grasp. Daniel watched them from the floor until they disappeared into the next room. He looked down to his lap, threading his orange belt through his fingers lazily, the black long sleeve under his t-shirt falling over his hands. Daniel worked hard to suppress his anger towards Matt.
How dare he show up drunk and call her the things he did.
Daniel only wanted what was best for Florence; and it seemed Grayson was the answer to his prayers.

Summary: Manon Blackbeak is flawless, untouchable. From the outside at least. Her grandmother pushes her to achieve greatness, and she doesn't let anyone get too close in fear of being hurt. How can anyone love her when not even her parents could?
Dorian Havilliard has always felt safe and confident around his friends. He might not have the greatest of families, but with Aelin and Chaol by his side, nothing can go wrong. That is until he tries keeping his greatest secret from them.
What will happen when Dorian and Manon gets to know one another? Can two lost souls find their way back together?
And we climbed onto the roof of the museum
And someone made love in the grass
And I forgot my name
And the way back to my mother’s house
-Florence + The Machine, South London Forever
Dorian Havilliard had never been happier to be with his friends. He was currently standing in Aedion Ashryver’s kitchen, drinking a beer and chatting with Chaol. The final third of their trio was busy sucking face with Rowan Whitethorn.
A lot has changed while I was away, he thought.
While his friends had been here - going to parties, hooking up with people, making memories - Dorian had been stuck at his family’s summer house, 700 miles away.
He knew he shouldn’t complain, it was a nice house - with a pool and everything - but if he had to take another day of his mother being wine drunk by 3pm, his little brother’s tantrums or his father’s extremely racist, sexist and homophobic comments he would go crazy.
Of course, not everything about his summer had been bad, but he didn’t want to think about that now.
Instead, Dorian leaned back and took another sip of his beer, enjoying the fact that he was back. «I am not drunk enough to watch this,» he said to Chaol, nodding towards Aelin and Rowan, the former now licking - actually licking - the latter’s neck.
«I know, gross right?» Chaol said, mimicking himself throwing up and earning a chuckle from Dorian in the process.
«When did this even happen?» he asked. Last time Dorian had checked, Aelin hated Rowan. Thinking back on how she always complained about the star quarterback being an annoying pain in her ass with his alpha-male bullshit, Dorian couldn’t quite fathom the sight before him.
Chaol looked towards them again with a disgusted look on his face. «No idea, I think they hooked up over the summer,» he replied, turning towards Dorian. «How about you? Met any cute girls?» Chaol wiggled his eyebrows for emphasis.
«Ehm..no,» Dorian replied quickly, finishing his drink.
Liar, he said to himself. He had hooked up with someone. Had even been in a relationship, brief as it was. That relationship had been the only good thing about his summer, the only thing making it bearable. Yet he couldn’t get himself to tell his friends about it. He couldn’t get himself to utter the words:
You know what? I did hook up with someone over the summer. His name was Vaughan and he looked like a god. Oh, I’m bisexual by the way.
Dorian had known for a few years now, but he still hadn’t come out to his friends. It shouldn’t have been this hard - he was living in 2019 after all - and they had been a trio for as long as he could remember. Dorian knew they would support him no matter what, but he couldn’t get himself to say it.
His spiraling train of thought was thankfully interrupted when Aelin finally came strolling into the kitchen.
«What’s up, losers,» Aelin announced, hopping onto the counter. She tried giving them her usual smirk, but all snark and bravado was replaced by blushing cheeks and a huge grin.
Chaol handed her a drink, before saying: «Who are you and what have you done to our Aelin? I can literally see hearts in your eyes.»
Dorian expected some sassy comeback, but she just giggled, looking towards the backyard where her boyfriend stood, talking to his friends.
Oh yes, things had definitely changed over the summer.
«I’m in love,» she declared, flinging her arms out and nearly hitting Dorian in the chest. «You should try it sometime,» Aelin continued, winking at Chaol.
There is the Aelin we know and love, Dorian thought.
She turned her gaze from Chaol to Dorian, giving him a once over.
«You,» she said - pointing at Dorian - «got hot over the summer.»
He felt a blush spread over his face at her words. He guessed he had changed a little over the summer. He had grown a few inches, let his hair get a little longer - the raven black curls almost falling to his eyes now - and put on a couple pounds of muscle. His mind wandered back to Vaughan and how he had shown exactly how hot he thought Dorian was.
He tried to change the subject over to something else, and said the first thing that came to mind: «I can’t believe we’ll all be seniors from tomorrow on.»
Both of his friends looked at him then. «I know!» Aelin said. «But I’ve got a feeling this year is going to be great.»
She threw her arms around their shoulders, before exclaiming: «I’ve got my boys with me after all. What could go wrong?»
And as his best friend grinned at him - the feeling of summer and freedom still lingering, music playing long into the night - Dorian couldn’t help but grin back, letting all worries and secrets fade away.
For now, at least.
-
Manon Blackbeak was sitting in her room, reading Animal Farm. The semester didn’t start until tomorrow, but the curriculum was always published a few days ahead, and her grades wouldn’t suffer from coming to class prepared. Her grandmother would only accept the best, after all.
She put away the book as she heard something rustle inside her closet. Seconds later Abraxos emerged, his head stuck inside a t-shirt. Manon sighed at the sight of the little black cat, but stepped over to help him.
Once she had freed him, she was awarded with a loud purr, his head pushing against her thigh. Manon rolled her eyes at his antics. «You stupid worm,» she mumbled, but gave in and stroked him behind his ears.
«It’s getting late,» she said to her companion. «We should head to bed, so we’re well rested for tomorrow.»
As if he understood what she was saying, Abraxos hopped onto her bed and laid down on his usual spot, right next to her pillow.
Manon turned off the lights before laying down next to him.
I will be a senior from tomorrow on, she thought.
Her summer had been rather uneventful, as usual. They never went anywhere, never did anything. Manon’s grandmother was always very busy, so she only had her cousin Asterin for company - whenever she was home, that was.
Manon spent her summers waiting for school to begin again, getting the time to pass by reading herself up on various subjects, always working to maintain her perfect GPA.
Only the best will do. Her grandmother’s words echoed in her mind. You don’t want to end up like your mother, do you?
Manon had never met her mother - since she had died right after Manon was born - but her grandmother liked to remind her of how big of a failure the woman was, having dropped out of college after being knocked up by Manon’s father.
She had never met her father either. Apparently the man was a drunken nobody, wanting nothing to do with his daughter.
Her parents wasn’t something she thought about often, but once again she heard her grandmother’s words. You will do better. Be better. Understand?
Manon’s summer hadn’t only consisted of tedious schoolwork, she had also spent countless hours at the dance studio, practicing new moves.
Dancing was her one great passion. She loved closing her eyes and getting lost in the music, her body moving to the rhythm on its own accord. On the good days, dancing felt like flying.
That was the other reason to why she was looking forward to school starting again. She hadn’t danced with her team in months. They called themselves the Thirteen, and she was their captain. As soon the semester started they could get back to practicing, working towards their goal of beating Iskra Yellowlegs and her team’s ass.
As she closed her eyes, ready to drift off to sleep, her mind wandered to Asterin. Manon hadn’t seen her cousin all evening, so she came to the conclusion that she had most likely snuck out to go to some end-of-summer party. It wouldn’t be the first time.
As if on cue, someone knocked quietly on her window.
«Speaking of the devil,» Manon said to no one in particular as she got out of bed, walked over to the window and opened it, only to find Asterin standing outside.
The girl looked wild, wearing her usual leather jacket, wavy, blonde hair hanging loose, make-up smudged around her eyes.
«Move your ass and let me in,» was her cousin’s only greeting as she stealthily climbed inside, barely making any noise.
Manon chose to ignore her and crawled back into bed. Asterin followed, shoving Abraxos out of the way and laying down next to Manon.
The cat gave Asterin an offended look before running inside the closet again.
«How drunk are you?» Manon asked her cousin, trying to ignore the stench of alcohol.
This was going to be a long night, she thought.
Asterin turned to lay on her back. «Not too drunk, I can walk in a straight line,» she said, turning her face towards Manon’s and wiggling her eyebrows.
Manon wasn’t too sure about that, noticing the slur in her voice. All of a sudden, Asterin started to giggle.
«What’s so funny?» Manon asked, not bothering to hide the annoyance in her voice.
Asterin didn’t seem to care that her cousin would much rather sleep as she answered: «I’m just happy about life I guess. I have a boyfriend now.» She giggled some more, drawing out the syllables in boyfriend.
Asterin kept going, «His name is Hunter, and he’s perfect.»
So that’s why she’s been out so much lately, Manon mused to herself.
She went quiet after that, probably asleep already. Manon turned to lay on her side, -facing away from her drunk cousin - when Asterin spoke again. Her voice was quiet and surprisingly sober this time. «You didn’t tell her, right? That I was out, I mean. You know how angry she can get.»
Yes, Manon knew first hand how angry their grandmother could get, the small, white mark she bore on her left cheek proof of that.
A/N: If you finished it all, congratulations!
I never thought I would write a multichapter fic, but I got the idea for this and was unable to put it away, so here it is!
I have the full story plotted out already (although it is a mess), but don't know how often I will have the inspiration to write the chapters and post them. I don't want to make a posting schedule either because consistency is definitely not my middle name.
I just have to say that writing Manon is extremely difficult. She is one complex character. But I am trying my best, and decided to write her like I think she would be, had she been a human teenager.
Also, if it seems like the writer of this fic has never stepped foot inside an American high school, you're correct. I'm just a simple Norwegian trying my best.
Feel free to leave a comment:) Constructive criticism is always welcomed, as I am working towards improving as a writer.

Forbidden Love | Tom Holland x Male!Reader
Pairing: Tom Holland x Male!Reader
Word count: 2291
The cameras turn your way as your feet strike the red carpet. Hoisting yourself out the car. You see the cameras point your way. For a moment, the flashes blur out your eyesight. From behind the barriers, you hear your name being called out from all over the place. The security guards keep the journalists and fans at bay while you strike a few poses on the red carpet. You give a couple of short interviews here and there. Tease a few interviewers and please the fans with selfies. You continue inwards.
The night was still young. You shook a lot of hands. First, a drink, meet the directors. Shake hands with the actors. Then followed the first screening with the stars present. You made sure to keep from the alcohol. You wanted to keep your voice cracking. Your fingers on point and tongue sharp. If it may come to it, you may have to perform at the after-party. And all the big stars were there. No mistakes were to be made.
Your song was used for a new movie. At first, it was ‘just' for a trailer. But quickly after they begged you to write a song, especially for the film. Superheroes were always a part of you since your childhood. The comics, the shows. The collectibles. It was an easy decision. No matter who the hero turned out to be. Or even if it turned out to be a one-shot. You were thankful to make a mark on such a franchise. And thus making you even bigger a star than you already were. You were grateful. Absolutely. But you couldn't listen to the radio. Every station was playing it. Spotify had your face plastered on every playlist. Internet ads kept coming up with your name. Billboards of the new film had your name written all over it. Even YouTube kept recommending your new song. There was no way around it.
The screening was a big success. A deafening round of applause followed as soon as the lights turned back on. That face… Your thoughts wander throughout the entire night. Shaking hands and meeting new people couldn't distract you from the itch at the back of your mind. Tom Holland. You wouldn't forget him. You couldn't. His name was practically everywhere. Just like yours. Only he was the lead actor in the film. And you knew him from something else. You were going to meet him again. Finally.
"Excuse me?" The words seemed to be coming from behind you as you bottom up the last bit from your drink. "(Y/N) (L/N)?" Goes the voice again.
Standing a few inches behind you stands the famous superhero actor you just watched on the big screen. Dressed in a black suit, sharp black shoes and his hair neatly shaped in a wave backwards. You haven't seen him all evening. But you can't help but feel your heart skip a beat. What a gentleman. A damn fine looking gentlemen at that. For a moment, you're captivated by his deep brown eyes. Not noticing he's handing you a drink. "Saw you were running low so…" Nudging you to glass.
"Thank you. I guess one can't hurt." Eyeing the yellow substance. The cold glass was a lovely welcome to your clammy hands. "RDJ keeps pushing me to sing tonight. So I gotta try to keep the booze low." Giving him a smile. You're startled for a moment. That feeling. You feel a flutter racing through your stomach. It's been years since you felt that. "Rumor has it, Mendes is waiting for me."
"I wouldn't mind for one." He compliments. Ringing his glass against yours. "Cheers!" Looking at you with hopeful eyes. A good moment to take a sip. As you notice your throat falling dry.
"Yeah… Mr. Holland. Too many more movies." Raising your glass.
"Hah! Are you practicing for a role as James Bond?" Tom's eyes roll up and down your outfit. "Cause that would mean serious competition for me." He smiles, looking back at you. He wasn't wrong. You are dressed to kill. The custom-tailored suit from Italy shaped your contours perfectly. Stunning handmade Italian leather boots, straight from Florence. Fitting together perfectly. It stood out from others, but not too flashy. Not to attract too much attention. The press had fished countless times who advised you on your choice of wardrobe. Who the lucky person was. If your mom still advises you. Because a single man couldn't dress so good like you did, someone had to be behind it.
"Who knows..." You grin. Taking a big gulp from the cold beer. You were there. You had seen the movie. Now Tom was standing right in front of you. And you couldn't think of anything to ask, nor say. You've had this strange feeling during the movie as well. It's more than awkward, as Tom seems to struggle just as much. Denying eye contact, rocking on his heels back and forth.
"-you like it?" You hear him call out, through the busy crowd. And somehow you feel tensed. Therefore missing part of his question.
"Yeah... Yeah- You look… stunning in your suit. Perfect for the role."
"I-I… I meant the movie." The red of his blushes color his face, as he scratches the back on his neck. " B-But, thank you."
"I'm sorry. I-... Eh I mean-" You trip over words one after the other. Not once in your career has it come to this. Not even on stage. You've had the nerves in the past. But this was different.
"-Yeah. Absolutely! These kinds of movies hardly disappoint. They've been my favorite since I was little. So…I'd love to have a signed poster one day. M-Maybe we can work something out." You feel your heart racing. Clammy hands. Sweaty armpits. You just ranted on and on. Tom just smiled and nodded. You're not even sure if he followed you. Your face probably looked like a tomato. As the heat shot through your body.
"Great! Great. Yeah… You ehm- I am flattered!" Tom's face looked the same. Giving you a sense of relief. "Actually, I'm kind of a big fan of yours. Loving your music." He smiles from ear to ear. He inches a bit closer to you. Leaning in. "Y-You think we can talk-" Tom's attention gets drawn to somewhere else. Instantly face palming the moment after.
"Finally got the guts, Tom?" You see two guys approaching towards you from the crowd. You recognized the faces immediately. Harrison and Jacob. Tom's best friends. Finally a breather you think.
"Hey! Nice meeting you, mate!" Harrison shaking your hand. "Hey man!" Jacob following. "This guy can't stop talking about you man." Jacob nudges Tom's shoulder. "He's a big-time fan of yours." The look on Tom's face was tensioned, biting his power lip as he tries to make Jacob shut up.
"Yeah! You told him about that-" Harrison jokes before being silenced by Tom's hand. "Enough guys… Please!" Shooting both a glance. Downing his pint in one go.
"Another round?" Harrison asks you, reaching for the other glasses of Tom and Jacob. You kindly refuse the drink. "You sure? You look like you could use one." Harrison jokes and heads to the bar.
"Has Jacob told you about his hate for your-" Tom smirks, leaning on Jacob's shoulder. "No dude!" He laughingly interrupts. "It's just…" His hands move in strange ways. As in ways of thinking of an excuse. A collection of bad reasons and excuses follow as Jacob tries to dodge the question more and more.
"You just can't stand it, mate!" Harrison's face pops up beside him. Holding a tray of pints. Jacob bellowing in laughter. Harrison following.
"Sorry man!" Tom calls to you. "They've been drinking." You follow in the laughter. No reason to be angry. Music is for everyone, and you can't please them all.
"Don't worry. I'm not that easily hurt." You try to comfort him. But instead, get a strange look from Tom. And at this point, you're not even sure what to think about it.
In the whole chat that follows, you get to know Harrison and Jacob a bit better. They share their stories and laughter about their travels. During the mess, the boys get a hold of Jacob's phone. It turns out he has several songs of you in his playlist. Breaking the ice between immediately.
"A shame you didn't visit the set." Harrison continues, trying to shift the focus of the conversation. "Tom and I were stoked when Kevin Feige told us."
"Same here, man. But touring schedules tend to change a lot."
"But you two never caught up? Tom mentioned he had your number from back at school." Harrison continues.
You cock your head a bit too fast towards Tom. Fixing your gaze on him. "Tom and I-..." You only manage to let out. Feeling the lump in your throat forming. "We… ehm-" Your heart beating like crazy against your ribcage.
"I assumed you guys text each other…" Harrison looks judgmental at the two of you. "But seeing your reactions. I guess not." At the same time, your eyes connect with Tom's. Seeing the hope in his eyes fade away.
"Excuse me..." As Tom darts away, pretending to be busy with his phone. You try to keep your attention to the conversation happening in front of you as Jacob and Harrison fall into a discussion. Chucking their beers like they're in a club on a Friday night. But you can't keep your eyes from Tom passing away in the distance. Your eyes follow him through the crowd. You see the frustration in his step. You know exactly what he is thinking. At first glance, the impression he was going to the toilet was quickly crossed off as he diverts onto the roof garden. Just before he heads through the door, you share a moment of eye contact.
You had to have a talk with him. You've had years to prepare for this. In the dimly lit evening light, you spot Tom. Arms crossed, leaning on the railing of the roof garden, glancing into the night sky. As you approach him, you catch a glimpse of his face, as he looks at you. Trying hard to fake a smile. "Hey…" He murmurs.
"Just like old times." You joke. But you get a disapproving glance from Tom.
"I'm not here for a guilt trip (Y/N)." He scowls as his brows knitted together in a frown.
"Sorry..." Taking place beside him. "You alright?"
"I'm fine..." He nods, keeping his gaze fixed to the horizon. "You're not worried that people might see us here?"
"As long as we're not kissing." You pat hit shoulder. "I think we're fine." A small smile forms on his pretty face. But that was short and sweet before his head hangs downcast again. "So… Why are we here?"
Once again, his fingers forked through his long brown curls. Releasing a trembling sigh. "It's been a while…"
You cross your arms and lean backwards against the railing. Hoping to get a glimpse of Tom's face. "You're talking about the kiss or…?" Trying to lighten to mood a little.
A small chuckle escapes his lips, followed by a long sigh as his eyes run along the railing. "You know, I…" Shaking his head to and through. For a moment, you catch a shimmering in his eyes. "Things have changed… For the both of us."
"We went our separate ways, Tom. It happened. We were young."
"Yet in all those years, we never reached out to each other."
"I think we both had our reasons." You let the moment sink in. Hoping Tom would answer it. "Didn't we?"
The only reaction you get is a simple smile. "You ever think about back then?"
"I do…" And you can't help but smile at his question. Did you ever think back about that time? Those were the simpler days. And you feel you're on the same wavelength as Tom, as that short answer managed to bring back a smile on his face. "But mostly about the things I regret saying." Tom just nods, there was something in the air you just can't put your finger on. "And you?" You ask.
"No regrets about the things you didn't do?" He quips before even thinking about your question. A moment of silence follows. Only the faint noise of music and chattering in the distance can be heard. The question itself sinks in. You can't help but peak back once in a while to check if no one had sneaked up on the two of you. But that question kept burning.
"What are you-"
"You're dodging the question, (Y/N)." He interrupts.
"I'm not sure what you're going for, Tom." You chuckle lightly, reaching for the card in your tuxedo. "But I have a feeling…" You grin while taking a step closer to him. A smirk was appearing on his face. "Here." You hold it up between your pointy finger and middle finger. "Enter the club and show this to the manager." You feel the nervous flutters in your system go in overdrive. His eyes sparkle as he keeps his full attention on you. Vigorously nodding to every word you say. "The rest follows itself." You give him a reassuring smile and pat him on the shoulder. "Room 702. Don't forget." And you take off, heading back for the party.
"Wait!" Tom calls out. "Does that mean…?"
"I want to find out as well, Tom." You say. "Be there… tonight." You give him a wink before you continue onwards.
"Can't we just leave?!" You hear Tom shakenly call out in the distance. "L-Like, right now?!" You shake your head while walking away from him.
A/N: Not the usual quality I’m afraid. But this will get a second part though. (With much-requested smut involved.) Take care!

Stable (3)
Summary: Even Tom knows it’s a cliché for the stable hand to fall in love with the star rider.
Pairing: Tom Holland/OC
Warnings: petty and hormonal teenage boys
Words: 2,791
A/N: since moving back home, i’ve started riding again and honestly there’s a distinct lack of male stable hands in my age range which is UNACCEPTABLE and is the primary reason for reviving this fic.
The Series: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4
Chapter 3
Wednesday rolled around much faster than Tom ever wanted it to, dreading having to spend the hours after school running after Harrison Osterfield and trying his best to avoid the topic of Ren. Knowing Harrison, that was unlikely, but he still held out hope. The only good thing about Wednesdays was that the last two hours were a double art class with his mum, and his best friend Jacob sitting by his side.
“Do you think they made out?” Jacob asked, pushing down on his lump of clay, “Like with tongues and everything?”
Tom slammed his chunk of clay on the table, grimacing at Jacob, “Can you shut up?” he replied, his voice hushed as he glanced up to see if his mother had overheard. “And I’m sure if they did it was with tongues, we’re not twelve anymore dude.”
“Yeah and it’s Osterfield, guy’s such a slimy bugger I bet he shoved it all the way down her throat,” Jacob carried on, sticking his tongue out as far as possible to demonstrate, adding slurping and gagging sounds for effect.
“Shut up,” Tom reiterated, clenching his hands into the clay at the thought of Harrison all over Ren. He was jealous, he knew he was and he knew it was a terrible thing to do and Ren didn’t owe him a second of her time, let alone her affection, but he just wished she wasn’t into Harrison of all people. He didn’t even want to know what the implication of them being at boarding school together meant - he’d heard plenty about the goings on between students at Saints and he tried to push Ren’s potential involvement with any of that as far out of his mind as he could possible manage.
As if Jacob could read his mind, he rambled on, “Do you think they’ve slept together?”
“Ugh, Jacob! Please!” Tom exclaimed, throwing his head back. He did not want to be thinking about this mere hours before having to look at Harrison all evening.
“You need to face the facts, Tom. They’re probably banging and she’s never going to look at you that way.”
“Ouch,” Tom pouted as he continued to squish the clay between his hands, in no way following his mother’s instructions.
“You have been pining over her for too long, my friend. This may actually be a good thing! You’ll be able to go off to University without having to dream forever more about the beautiful yet elusive Ren.”
“Not sure if I’m even going to Uni,” Tom sulked, tugging the sleeves of his uniform jumper higher up his elbows so they wouldn’t get too ruined.
“Well my point still stands, you can’t mope about for the rest of your life Thomas. Plenty of fish, and all that.”
Tom frowned at his friend, not loving where this conversation had headed when all he’d wanted was a pep talk for later. “You’re mister romantic, what happened? Since when are you so anti pursuing what could possibly be the love of your life?” he exclaimed, kneading down on his clay.
Jacob smirked as he leaned against the table, his blob of clay totally forgotten about. “Listen, I am all for pursuing the love of your life. I just want to posit that there may be more than one, and you’ve gotta let it go when you know you’ve been beaten. Plenty of fish, you hear me? You’ll find more success elsewhere, young padawan.”
“Fine, Obi,” Tom sighed, rolling his eyes, “but I don’t know that I’ve been beaten yet. We don’t know for sure that anything has ever happened between them and so I might still be in with a chance. She said I was her favourite on Saturday,” he added proudly, as if that proved anything.
Jacob snorted and returned to his clay, “Alright casanova, let me know how to that goes. But I’ll bet you five quid and the snickers at the bottom of my bag that you’ll find out plenty from Harrison this evening.”
“I’ll take you up on the fiver, but I don’t want anything to do with that rank snickers.”
“Suits me,” Jacob shrugged, shooting a grin at his best friend and Tom knew he was only trying to protect him from another round of heartache and pining. This sort of thing happened every few months, where Ren was concerned. She would say something, and Tom would completely misinterpret it and get his hopes up and nothing would happen and on the cycle would go.
“Boys, come on, less gossiping more creating!” Tom’s mother’s voice brought him out of his thoughts and he grinner up at her, desperately hoping she hadn’t overheard any part of their conversation. Knowing her, though, that seemed highly unlikely. He wondered if she would bring it up at dinner, or store it away for later referral. She winked back at him as she walked away, tapping her fingers against his desk. Tom dropped his head, groaning internally at the thought of having to discuss this with her later.
---
“Alright Tom, can you grab Skylark next please, Harrison’s just arrived and he’ll want to jump right up.” Called his dad from the barn doors, a bunch of polo mallets tucked under his arm.
“Daaaaad,” Tom groaned, throwing his head back as he pulled a face, “can’t I go get someone else? Literally anyone else, please,” he begged, approaching his dad.
Peering out at the courtyard he saw Harrison talking to his mother through the open car window as he pulled on his gloves, looking clean and tidy and expensive as ever. Tom scuffed his worn out boot tip against the flagstones.
Dominic Holland looked over his shoulder to give his son a stern look, one eyebrow raised. “Now Tom, you’ve got about three minutes to pick up that attitude and get Skylark out to the field.”
“Literally anyone else.” Tom repeated himself, his eyes practically begging his father to relent.
Mr. Holland was not to be moved or swayed. “Go, now. Please Tom.”
There was no winning, and Tom just hoped that Harrison would ignore him all evening.
Alas, he had no such luck, as the second Harrison rounded the corner to the polo field, his eyes were fixed on Tom and he could have sworn he saw the star player square his shoulders as he approached.
“Evening, Holland,” Harrison greeted curtly, swinging up onto his horse without a second’s hesitation, “good weather for a game, isn’t it?”
“Yep,” Tom replied, just as stiffly as he handed the reins up to Harrison, “cracking weather.” He wondered why Harrison was talking to him about the weather at all, the fact that he had even acknowledged him without being forced to was just as unusual as it was suspicious. “Have a good rideout on Saturday?” Tom heard himself asking out loud, to his absolute horror. He tried his best not to make too much of a face as he glanced up at Harrison, who was fiddling with one of his stirrup leathers.
“Hmm?” Harrison hummed, not bothering to look at Tom, as he checked the new length of his stirrup, “Oh, with Florence?” he added, almost absentmindedly.
Tom bit down on his lip. If he had been talking to anyone else, it would have almost seemed like a normal, totally casual conversation. But it was exactly that normal, totally casual way in which Harrison spoke her name that felt like dig; like he was telling Tom how totally normal and casual it was for him to be spending time with her, when to Tom it was a treasured commodity.
All Tom could muster as a response was a nod of his head and an affirmative grunt.
If it hadn’t been for his impulsive question in the first place, he wouldn’t have to remain next to Harrison, painfully waiting for an answer he wasn’t sure he really wanted to hear. But there he was, standing next to the epitome of what he both always wanted to be and tried his best to never become, waiting for what felt like the inevitable blow that would break his heart.
“Oh it was rather good,” Harrison said, smirking at Tom as he shifted around in the saddle, his shoulders pushing back confidently. “Nice to get some one-on-one time with her, school can be pretty manic, you know how it is”.
That definitely felt like another dig, and Tom swallowed as he nodded up at Harrison unable to think of a properly. Of course he didn’t know how it was at school with them. Mayfield College was a world away from St. Augustine’s, even if it was just three miles down the road. He’d been inside the old brick walls of the boarding school a couple of times for various school events, and had visited the sprawling grounds more often than that for the occasional soccer match or to cheer on his school’s rugby team, but he couldn’t really begin to imagine what it was like going there. He’d definitely never have imagined it as manic.
“Anyway, hoping to get some proper one-on-one time with her this Saturday anyway,” Harrison continued smugly, winking at Tom suggestively, who had stuffed his balled fists so deep into the pockets of his jacket he was worried he might tear the fabric. “I’m sure you must have heard all about my party by now.”
Tom just glared up at Harrison, biting down on the inside of his cheek. He didn’t like what Harrison was implying at all, and he certainly hadn’t heard of his stupid party and he was sure that Harrison knew that too. Another jab, just to be sure.
“Oh well, it really is just all Saints people anyway, so I suppose you mightn’t have heard after all,” Harrison shrugged, a smile tugging at the side of his mouth as he looked down his nose at Tom. “We’re never quite sure what trickles down to you lot at Mayfield,” he added, a smug grin spreading over his face as he urged his horse forward onto the field, without another glance back.
Tom looked over at his brother Sam, jaw dropped at Harrison’s comment. Sam was just sending another team member onto the field with a short wave when he looked over and frowned questioningly back at Tom.
“I hate him,” Tom grumbled as he stomped over to complain, hands still buried in his pockets, “so much.”
Sam rolled his eyes, looking around to see if anyone else needed any more help. “He’s really not that bad.”
“Hey, you’re meant to be on my side,” Tom replied, shooting a look at his brother before turning his attention to the riders on the field, who were all being handed their mallets by their trainer.
“It’s just an act, you know that right?” Sam questioned, raising an eyebrow at Tom.
“Did you know about his party on Saturday?” Tom continued, choosing to completely ignore what his brother had just said, he was clearly delusional. “Ren is going to it apparently.”
“Good for her,” Sam chuckled, leaning back against the fence as the game started, horses racing past them and mallets swinging. Tom had already lost sight of the ball amongst the trampling of hooves.
“Yeah,” Tom nodded, watching as Harrison sharply turned his horse around to go barrelling down towards the other end of the field. And sure, it was good for her, he was glad she was being invited to parties and having fun and had what seemed to be a great group of friends from all accounts, he just really wished it wasn’t with Harrison. He knew he sounded like an entitled child and resented that feeling inside him, but he couldn’t help being so in love with her that every time she so much as looked his way his mouth ran dry. Being seventeen and in love was hard work.
---
Even dripping in sweat Harrison Osterfield looked good, and Tom made a mental note to add that to his list of things that bothered him about the preppy polo player.
Harrison held out his muddy mallet for Tom to take as he swung down off his horse, boots hitting the slightly soggy ground with a confident thud.
“Good game, Osterfield, good game,” Remy Hii, the team captain jeered, slapping Harrison on the shoulder with a big grin.
“All down to your stellar leadership, of course,” Harrison replied, tipping his helmet like he was some sort of nineteenth century gentleman. Tom rolled his eyes as he held up a bucket of water so Skylark could get a drink.
“See you on Saturday, yeah?” Tom heard Remy say as he walked away, his own horse in tow.
“Absolutely” Harrison replied, waving his gloved hand in salute. For a second, Tom wondered what it would be like to be in Harrison’s circle of friends, to actually be privy to invites and jockular exchanges, when he felt a firm had come down on his shoulder.
“You know, Holland, Florence was saying you’re gonna be her groom for the season,” Harrison said, his voice barely over a whisper, and a shiver of dread ran down Tom’s spine at the anticipation of an upcoming threat, “and I just to make sure that you know that if anything happens to her at all, I will be blaming you, so you better do a better job at checking the leather with her than you did with me.”
Tom frowned at him, feeling like he was missing the punchline of a joke. For one, he was entirely caught off guard by Harrison’s apparent protectiveness of Ren, and secondly he had no idea what leather he meant and what could possibly be wrong with it.
Harrison didn’t wait long to illuminate him as he lifted the upper skirt of the saddle to expose the top of the stirrup strap, where the stitching keeping it all together had almost entirely come apart and the leather had worn down so much that it almost seemed like a miracle that he hadn’t entirely lost his stirrup during the two hours of training.
Tom didn’t know what to say; with the level these people were riding at, a sudden loss of stirrup at the wrong moment could be fatal, and he had no idea how he’d missed it. He looked at Harrison, eyes wide, hoping he wouldn’t say anything to anyone about it or he’d be off the roster for the next two millennia and he could wave goodbye to ever getting to hang around Ren again.
“Now, I’m going to let this slide on the conditions that you fix this immediately,” Harrison said, voice low and holding one finger up to Tom like a stern parent, “you make sure my tack and horse are in proper riding condition from this moment forth so I never have to deal with your utter incompetence again,” he continued, holding up a second finger, “ and, that nothing even remotely like this happens to Ren or I will make your life so much worse than it already is,” he finished, holding up a rather menacing looking third finger. “Don’t test me.”
All Tom could do was nod, still totally caught off guard to Harrison’s attitude towards Ren. He’d always seemed like a slimy git and he was at least seventy five percent sure he was some kind of psychopath, but maybe Sam was right. But then again, maybe Sam was wrong and Harrison was just playing mind games with him and knew Tom’s weakness was always and forever going to be Ren, and the momentary reprieve in animosity he had felt for Harrison dissipated pretty swiftly.
“I’ll take Skylark in for you then,” Tom finally said after enough tense seconds had passed between them, taking the reins and making a move back towards the stables.
“Absolutely not,” Harrison hissed, snatching the reins right back, “I’ll leave the saddle on the bench in the tack room for you to fix, and mark my words: I’ll be checking every last stitch before I get on next time and if even one thing is out of place I will be informing your father of your sheer incompetence.
Tom watched as Harrison led Skylark away, the half empty water bucket still dangling from his fingertips, totally ignoring the other team members that were still bustling around that might be in need of some assistance.
“What was that all about?” Harry asked, sidling up next to him with a dirty towel used for rubbing down the sweaty horses flung over his shoulder.
Tom pursed his lips and glanced over at his brother, “So, I almost killed Harrison Osterfield and then he threatened me.”
“Fair,” Harry shrugged casually, “but better luck next time.”

Day 3
February 13 2018
Let’s back up a bit, because upon reflection there are many important and shocking things that have happened in the last three days that I have, almost as a coping mechanism, blocked from my head. Firstly, what actually happened during the shît show orientation. Kevin was fantastic, but I am so unaccustomed to South African culture and hearing the differences I was going to have to deal with was upsetting. As I list of the particularly upsetting points, please keep in mind that throughout all of this I am extremely jet-lagged, underfed, without a consistent source to drinking water, unfamiliar with everyone around me, and its 90 degrees in the room. First, Kevin explains the conditions at the schools we volunteer at. He describes the slums the kids live in and the problem they face every day. The Townships (what Cape Town calls slums/shantytowns/favellas.. etc) are basically all made out of houses of scrap metal and are extremely poor. This was not shocking. What was shocking, is that physical and sexual abuse is so prevalent in these communities, that even the volunteers see the effects of it in the schools, away from the kids’ homes. It is not uncommon for kids to come to school with cuts and bruises inflicted from abuse and, as volunteers, we are basically unable to do anything about it. Further, lots of the parents are alcoholics or drug addicts because of the price and accessibility of substances here, and this only increases the pain for the kids. By this point, I was close to tears.
Then he launched into all the threats of being a volunteer. He described people watching you at ATMS, waiting until you get your cash, then coming up after when you’re starting to walk away and saying that you're “still logged on to the ATM”, so they go back and offer to help and when you put your card in, they cancel the transaction, grab the card out of the machine, and run. Also, people will take scissors to cut the straps off of bags and run. Thus, it doesn't really matter to these people if you have a cross body bag or not. I’m thankful I have a leather bag because its really hard to cut the straps off of something like that. I always leave my passport and one debit card at my room so, if something horrible like that happens, I’m not stranded. Kevin then proceeds to describe the risks for women in South Africa. He pulls up a page of women in leggings, shorts, dresses, all in mildly provocative positions taken from very revealing angles. Then he tells us how risky it is being a woman in Cape Town. He talks about the kidnappings, and that FOUR GIRLS went home pregnant last year.
Almost nothing has gone as planned since I have touched down in South Africa. Starting with my late and disorganized pickup, to housing, to the people, to the program, to the facilities, I could go on. It’s not necessarily all bad, but living in a constant state of surprise and adaptation is exhausting. Today was supposed to be my first somewhat routine day. Almost as expected, it did not go in a routine way what-so-ever. I woke up in the morning and basically just sat around for the first bit, meeting people. I usually am supposed to sign up for a morning volunteer spot but it is semi-optional and because of this, I wanted my first day to be not as crazy as usual, ease into things. Then, I was told that the water has been shut of in one of the poorest townships where we volunteer, Dunoon. There are apparently very intense riots going on and the schoolbusses were not allowed to enter by the people living there. They were attacked so intensely by the local population that they were unable to pick up the kids we work with. Thus, there was no afternoon volunteering because there were NO KIDS TO VOLUNTEER FOR. The program then says we are going to all go to the beach instead. So I get into my bathing suit and religiously put on very thick coats of sunscreen. The sun is unbelievably strong. So then I run on over to where we are supposed to be picked up at 1:15pm. By 1:30 there’s still no sign of the bus and its 97 degrees out. I’m sweating and the sun is beating down on us, but I get to meet new people so it’s okay. 2pm rolls around and there is still no sign of the bus. By now I’m kind of dying in the heat. 2:30 comes and we are now like “okay what the hell”. Then, we get a message that says we need to go to the other house for pickup. Just as we all start walking over, a bus pulls around the corner and my heart lifts a little. But then it’s FULL. That means we need to wait at the other house for the bus to go drop the people and then come back and get us. WHAT THE HELL. Whenever anyone is late for anything every is like “It’s Africa time”, meaning everything in Africa is way slower because efficiency doesn’t matter. I’m thinking, I CAME FROM ITALY I AM NO STRANGER TO THINGS RUNNING LATE BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. The heat makes me testy. Anyways, by 3pm I am really starting to feel the heat and am melting a bit. I end up sitting on the couch and by the time the bus comes at 3:30 I don't even get on because I’m just too tired from sitting in the sun. So, I end up not going to the beach and just taking my cold 90-second shower which felt great, until I started sweating again immediately after. We had curry for dinner and my vegetarian option was actually really good. I don’t think I get to eat enough food here, but I’m not starving so I’ll live. I still don't exactly know which toilets I can use, so there’s that. Saying things here are “rough around the edges” is a bit of an understatement. I feel very forgotten a lot of the time and it’s interesting to be surrounded by people who really just don’t know you and don’t care about your wellbeing. Even in Florence, I felt way more looked-after than here. It’s definitely a rough adjustment but I’m handling it well enough that nobody can tell so far. I woke up today at 5:30am which was a steady improvement from 3am the night before. Benadryl is becoming my only reliable friend.
I’m still alive and covered in mosquito bites, also my lymph nodes in my armpits are so swollen because I shaved them and apparently when you shave them with new water hella bacteria gets in and upsets them so I’m so sore I can barely life my arms. The lymph nodes are now very large and worrying looking lumps but apparently I don't need to really worry about it unless they don't go away in a few days. All hospitals are public here and the wait time is around 7 hours so I am not sure if medical attention is really an option at all. Crossing my fingers!

We had stopped at Eugene, a larger town in the west of Oregon. Towns have interesting names here; Florence and Eugene and Jasper were names I expect on a name tag, not a street sign, whilst I did not expect towns like Detroit and Lebanon and Waterloo to be in this part of the world. And then there were towns called Sweet Home and Philomath and Crow I had not expected to exist at all. “So, time to get something to eat”, Paula said. She seemed to be in a good mood; she had been singing along the last few songs and there was a certain rhythm in her steps. “Any wishes what to get for lunch?” I tentatively suggested Pizza, since I had been craving it the whole day. “Sounds good. Let me see...”, Paula got out her notebook, a small leather bound book she had used a few times before. “Eugene, Oregon...”, she flipped through the pages, though she got to the searched one way faster than it seemed possible. “Here it is. Now, pizza... Ah, this one should be good.” She nodded and closed the small book. “What is that for a note book? Do you have a page for every town? But that would be impossible, it is way to small. A page for every town of Oregon?”, I asked puzzled. Paula shook her head and flipped through the book. In fast succession she showed me a page about interesting places in the Antarctic, places to see, things to do and restaurants in Berlin, New York, New Delhi, Tokyo and Lima. All of them handwritten. “Do you have a page about Tacoma as well?” There it was, this time there were also a few notes in a different handwriting. “So how does it work?” “I am not entirely sure. It holds all the information I ever noted down about all towns and regions of the world. Depending on what I need it sorts it by country, state, letter, climate, the possibility of getting wet in a thunder storm... I got it from this book binder in Germany. She has a Gift about books, I am not sure what exactly. She also does diaries that answer you with solutions for your problems, letter books where both parts of the correspondence gets a book and write their letter in it and it appears in the book of the other partner. Awesome things. Nice lady.” She pocketed the book. “Now, groceries and then we go and look for that pizza.”
When we came out of the supermarket, I caught a police officer staring at me. He looked at his phone and seemed to compare me to something on the display. He stared again, his eyes twitching between me and Paula, and he seemed to consider whether I was in trouble and Paula meant danger. “That police man is starring at us, I am afraid my father filed a missing person report. Hurry, act as if you like me. I don't want to get you in trouble!”, I whispered. Paula looked confused for a moment, then she smiled. “So, how was school today, sweetheart?”, she asked. “Did you do well in your exam?” “It went better than expected, thanks for asking auntie. It is so nice I am allowed to stay with you whilst Mom and Dad spend their second honey moon on Hawaii. I love spending time with you!” Paula managed to get a hand free so she could give me a one armed hug. “Me too, sweetheart, me too.” The officer frowned and looked down on his phone. “What the...?”, I heard him mutter. “I could have sworn there was a wanted poster here...”

Ahhh beautiful Florence. The time of Renaissance art, and the Medici family.
This post is the continuation of my trip with Ashley, Emily Mac., Emily D., Rachel, Mallory, and now Megan! If you haven’t read my first post about Bologna, I recommend you do so here.
We left Bologna and took a 30 some-minute train ride to Florence. I have always been in love with Florence. It is a city I could revisit over and over again. To be honest, this was my third time in this gorgeous city. Most of us girls have been here before as well: Ashley, Megan, Emily Mac., and Rachel. So it was only Emily D. and Mallory whom have never seen it’s beauty.
In short here is what I recommend:
Florence:
Yellow Bar – not a bar, but a restaurant that serves homemade pasta daily
Monkey Bar – awesome dive bar
Viktoria Lounge Bar – modern bar lounge w/ great cocktails & service
Ditta Artigianale -Best cafe/bar to grab a caffè, brunch, and/or breakfast
50 Sfumature di Gusto – my favorite restaurant in Florence
Once we arrived, we found our way to our airbnb. Unfortunately, it was too early to check-in so we decided to find a place to grab a bite. Nearby we found a place called Yellow Bar.
I didn’t realize until we sat down and everything, but Ashley and I have been there before. Crazy thing is when we studied abroad in Rome, three years ago, we each had a class that brought us on a class trip to Florence. And both of our classes ate at this exact restaurant where they make fresh pasta daily. I can see why we ate here because it is good AF. The only downside is that it is always packed with tourists, but in a big and famous city, such as Florence, you will always see them roaming around.
I knew exactly what I wanted as soon as I saw them making the fresh pasta: Freshly handmade gnocchi con gorgonzola (potato pasta with gorgonzola cheese)
(Left: The amazing gnocchi con gorgonzola)
(From left to right: Ashley, Mallory, Emily Mac., Rachel, Emily D., Me)
(Left: Ashley and I fooling around on snapchat. Right: Drinking every last drop of my wine)
Yellow bar is the place to be when you are hungry in Florence. Nothing fancy in atmosphere, but super appetizing food.
As you can tell, Megan wasn’t dining with us because her train from Rome was arriving a bit later on. After we filled our stomachs with food, we made our way to our Airbnb.
Now let me tell you something, this Airbnb looked AMAZING in photos online, but the internet doesn’t do it justice. The place was HUGE and every window in the apartment had a breath-taking view.
I was obsessed and if I was a millionaire I would have bought that place right on the spot. Between the huge kitchen, spacious bedrooms, comfy living room, incredible views, and location, I was hooked.
The company that owns this apartment must have many within the city because they have a lot of people working for them. A guy named Nico checked us in and recommended a lot of places for us to go that weren’t swarmed with tourists
Here is what he wrote down for us:
Bars:
Mayday– ask for Marco
King Grizzly
Clubs:
Yab
Bamboo
Life Club
Restaurants:
Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco
Santo Bevitore
I Raddi
Sostanza
Antico Noé
Gelato:
Vivoli– 100 years old
Procopio– try pistacchio (local “mercato di sant’ambrogio”)
Perché No
Leather Shops:
Mercato di San Lorenzo “Medici”– the famous leather market of Florence (I don’t recommend it because it is sketchy AF and contains hit-or-miss type of products. Maybe check it out and buy a leather wallet or pretty scarf, but don’t go big)
Borgo Dei Greci – on that street there are shops
To be honest, we didn’t stop by any of the places (besides the leather market) because we didn’t have enough time in Florence to see, do, and eat everything. But I still have this list in my possession and next time I return I will be sure to check them out! Feel free to as well and let me know what you think!
Once Vico cleared everything about the apartment we settled down and relaxed for a bit. Megan called me soon after letting me know she checked into her bed & breakfast. Megan planned to stay one night there and the second night at our place because Emily Mac. had only planned to stay one night in Florence so she could visit her friend in Germany.
Megan came over to our place and was amazed just as we all were when we walked in. Before we knew it, the sun was down and dinner was on our minds. We have been eating out so much that I thought of preparing a home-cooked meal to save some money. It also helped that our kitchen was gigantic and there was a grocery store literally below our apartment complex. I wrote down a list of things to buy and we made our way to the grocery store.
Thank god it was so close, but the steps leading up to our apartment were killer- at least we got some exercise in.
My menu of the night included:
parmigiana di melanzane
platter of mixed cheeses
platter of mixed meats
salad
olives
bread
a lot of wine & prosecco
I was really excited to start cooking, but like what I have said before in my previous post: I love to cook but I am pretty bad at it (sometimes…well maybe according to Italian cooking standards). But THIS time, I got it pretty damn right…
(Left: Our antipasto Right: Megan slicing the bread)
(I mean LOOK at that beauty! It truly was a masterpiece)
I am getting hungry just looking at it to be honest. Once we finished dinner, we bought more bottles of prosecco to prepare for a night of craziness. I cleaned up everything as fast as I could, Ashley blasted a sick playlist of songs, and all us girls got glammed-up.
Another amazing thing about this apartment that it has this long bright vanity in the hallway where us girls can throw our makeup on our faces. Here are some drunkenly taken photos of us pregaming and prepping…

Now this is where it becomes a bit difficult to remember (at least in the order of things). I am pretty sure the first thing was we met up with Megan because she went back to her apartment to get ready after we ate dinner. So we headed in that direction towards her place. From there I am pretty sure we just followed the crowd or maybe I looked up a bar on TripAdvisor near me, but regardless we ended up at this place:
Monkey Bar looked really cool from the outside. It is like a metal-rock-alternative dive bar where you can grab an awesome beer or down a few shots. We decided on shots (tequila of course) I can’t remember the bartender’s name, but he was really cool and we had an awesome conversation with him about politics and music- he even took a shot with us.
Before we knew it we were roaming along the streets looking for the next bar to hit up. I am pretty sure the following bar we ended up at was Viktoria Lounge Bar
It was filled with people and even had a DJ playing old-school songs (meaning songs we jammed out to in middle school). It is a really hip modern bar with friendly staff and yummy cocktails. I realized that this was the exact same bar Luigi and I went to when we were in Florence the last year.
(Left: I forgot the name of the cocktail, but damn it was lovely)
(Top right image-from top left to bottom right: Mallory, Emily D., Megan, Rachel, Emily Mac., me, and Ashley)
(Bottom right image- from left to right: Rachel, Emily Mac., and me)
We stayed there for a decent amount of the night. Many cocktails and shots later, we decided to walk back the way we originally came and stopped at a club that seemed pretty poppin’.
The Red Garter was this Irish pub meets Live Karaoke club. We entered the bar to discover a sea of Italians and Americans all over the place. I also realized it was another place that Luigi and I also stopped at while we were in Florence the year before. It was so difficult just to reach the front bar. Once we got our drinks we walked around to the back where some random drunk Americans were belting out “Livin’ On a Prayer”. Quickly, we turned back into the previous room where the music actually didn’t hurt our ears. Don’t get me wrong, it was a nice place to dance, meet some people, or to get hit on by Italian men, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. I knew I needed to be drunker to have more fun there.
(Photos provided by Google Images)
Once we had enough of sweaty people we took a breather outside and walked towards one of the bridges that connects Florence across the Arno river. It was so beautiful with all the lights along the waterside we took drunken photos of all of us.
After all the snaps and laughs, we made our way back to our apartment in search of food…Unfortunately some of the girls spotted this “pizza” place but it was the most disgusting pizza I ever saw. I mean they were hungry and drunk, so I don’t blame them for making the spontaneous decision of eating it. Afterwards, they all regretted it. Also, I am pretty sure they overcharged the girls knowing that they were drunk which really pissed me off. We finally arrived at the apartment and I reheated all the leftovers of the parmigiana di melanzane and stuffed my face.
The next morning I opened my eyes to a stunning view right outside my window:
(No exaggeration, also no filter)
I also woke up next to Emily Mac. beside me which was a huge problem once I looked at the clock. She was suppose to take a really early flight that morning to Germany, but overslept and missed her flight. Thankfully enough she was able to purchase a ticket for the next flight to Germany that day and was out the door before most of the girls were awake.
Rachel and Emily D. were actually awake when she left because they both preplanned and purchased tickets to see Michelangelo’s Davide. They invited me as well when they bought the tickets, but I already had seen him twice and figured I would save the 20 euros.
I am usually an early-riser because I sincerely appreciate an nice cappuccino and warm cornetto (croissant). I searched on TripAdvisor for a local bar I could grab some colazione (breakfast).
Little did I know, but I found one of the best bars there was for breakfast: Ditta Artigianale. This cafe/bar was top-notch coffee and food. Real artisan coffee beans and products used throughout their entire menu. Ashley, Mallory, Megan, and I had a very appetizing breakfast.
(My go-to breakfast: Cornetto alla crema & un cappuccino (Croissant with cream and a cappucccino)
We waited there for Rachel and Emily D. to show up so they could grab something as well and then we all went back to the apartment so Megan could settle in with her things. At the apartment we discussed about what we wanted to do for our last full day in Florence. Mallory was pretty tired from the night before so she wanted to stay at the apartment to sleep and would meet up with us later. So Rachel, Emily D., Megan, Ashley, and I strolled around the majestic streets of Florence with our first stop being the famous Duomo-Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.
The cathedral and Duomo is unbelievable to look at. It’s so detailed and gigantic, it’s hard to believe how they constructed it thousands of years ago! It is really cool to see it in person again because I had just finished watching the first season of the new tv show, I Medici (Medici: Masters of Florence) which features the famous and handsome actor, Richard Madden as Cosimo Medici (previously known for his role as Robb Stark in The Game of Thrones). The show is set in the early 15th century and revolves around the Medici family and how they became filthy rich and legends of the Renaissance era. Cosimo Medici commissioned Donatello to help design and Brunelleschi to lead construction of the Duomo. It was a crazy idea back then, but with help from the Medici bank account (literally they invented the bank and owned everything), it became possible.
This leads me onto the next portion of our Florence stroll: The tombs of the Medici family and the San Lorenzo leather market. My friends- Ashley, Megan, Rachel, and Emily D.- all wanted to check out the leather market while I went to see the tombs of the Medici family. Thankfully, they were right next to each other so it wouldn’t be a problem meeting up later on.
Here is a lovely photo of the girls, standing on the steps just before the market, promoting their new single, “Meows of Florence” brought to you by a drunk night in this gorgeous city:
(Top left to bottom center: Emily D, Ashley, Megan, and Rachel)
And here is a lovely photo of me standing at the back entrance of the Medici chapel:
So we went our separate ways and I entered inside the tombs of the Medici Family. Inside the chapel there were treasures of gold, silver, and plaques of tombs everywhere the eye could see.
There were gifts from Popes, kings, queens, royal families, and so many more. In my head I was thinking, “Damn, how could the medici family put all this stuff in their house?”. When you walk upstairs you enter into the Marble-licious (yes I just said that) chapel of the extended Medici family, but while I was there most of the tombs and statues were going through restoration.
I was standing in the middle of the room with my face towards the ceiling just in awe of everything around me. Talk about resting in peace!
The best part of the chapel are the breath-taking tombs of Lorenzo il Magnifico (Lorenzo the Magnificent) and his brother, Guiliano Medici that were partially finished by the one and only, Michelangelo.
On Lorenzo’s tomb (shown in bottom left image) Dawn is depicted as waking up from a long night’s rest with Dusk about to pass out from tiredness. On Guiliano’s tomb (shown in bottom right image) Day is portrayed as a super jacked buff man just chillin’ there with an unfinished face with Night shown as a beautiful sleepy sleek woman you would see in some Venus razor commercial.
I know my descriptions are really bad, but I like to write how I talk and that is basically it. I would highly recommend to check out the Medici Chapel if you have time, but definitely do some research before you go or at least book a tour so you know what you are looking at. This was actually my second time here with my first time being with my Late Renaissance Art class when I studied abroad in Rome.
Afterwards I met up with the girls in the leather market (which they were surprisingly easy to find). Some girls bought some little gifts to take home to their families and we continued walking towards the classic Ponte Vecchio.
Ponte Vecchio is this gorgeous old bridge- and I mean OLD. But today it is filled with hundreds of expensive, EXPENSIVE, jewelry shops. So in other words, it was a great way to spend some window shopping time. I can dream right?
We made our way to the other side of the city and browsed around some random shops. A couple of the girls got some nice gelato while I was in desperate need of an Arancino (fried rice ball with mozzarella). Unfortunately, arancino is a classic food item from the south of Italy, not the north. So when I asked these random Italian girls in a shop where I could find one, they looked at me like I had two heads. It was getting a bit late and our stomachs were growling so we wanted to grab some lunch nearby, but something that wasn’t too big. That being said because we planned to go all-out for our last dinner in Florence that night.
Along the river we found a cute tiny restaurant with a spectacular riverside view:
Il Ristoro Dei Perditempo
(Photos not mine, but provided by Google Images- except for the top left photo of mixed meats- that one I did take).
This tiny restaurant was owned by a very sweet family and their food was delightful! (Especially the fresh cut meats). Nothing blew my mind about the spot, but I would take this restaurant as a nice place to catch up with an old friend (A solid 4-star rating).
The sun was setting on a beautiful autumn day so we made our way back to our apartment, but of course stopping at some shops along the way. Here is what we ran into on the streets of Florence:
We finished our last shopping spree by stopping at Zara, H&M, MAC cosmetics, and a street market with local artisans. It was a great day spent in this hypnotizing city.
The night was falling upon us and we had to figure out a place to eat for our last dinner together. I originally tried to reserve a table at two other restaurants but they were already booked for the night. I don’t blame them because it was a Saturday. I finally found this excellent hole-in-a-wall restaurant with pretty convincing reviews on TripAdvisor:
50 Sfumature di Gusto (50 shades of taste)
I swear I found the golden ticket when it comes to restaurants. The food was PHENOMENAL and a feast for the eyes as well!
This was by far my favorite restaurant in Florence. 5-star rating for food quality and accommodating service. If you want to eat there definitely reserve, and DEFINITELY eat their meat/filet. I ate the filet with gorgonzola and it was life-changing.
We rolled onto our stomaches out the door- we were so full. Somehow we got back to the apartment and since it was our last night, Megan, Ashley, and I decided to get drunk…again. I mean, I didn’t know when we would all be together again so I figured why not? All the girls (besides Megan and me) had to take an early train to Milan to catch their flight home so being hungover wasn’t the best option. Emily D. and Mallory got a drink at MayDay that was just below our apartment, but I was feeling more party-hardy that night. To make things easier on us, Ashley, Megan, and I just decided to hit up the two places we went the night before: Viktoria Lounge Bar and The Red Garter. It was a night of shots and endless snapchat videos and photos…
I totally woke up regretting those last rounds of shots, but I got up in time to say goodbye to everyone. It was so sad really. I wish I could relive those moments again in Bologna and Florence, but I have high hopes for another Europe trip this upcoming summer/fall. After Megan and I said our goodbyes to the girls and our apartment’s stunning view, we trucked our luggage and hungover bodies to my favorite cafe bar, Ditta Artigianale for another deserved cornetto and caffè macchiato.
It was getting late and I needed to catch my train back to Naples. Megan had a train to Rome right after mine so we walked together through the historic streets of Florence one last time to say goodbye to all those beautifully sculpted booties.
What a trip…until next time, ladies! ;)
Florence Ahhh beautiful Florence. The time of Renaissance art, and the Medici family. This post is the continuation of my trip with Ashley, Emily Mac., Emily D., Rachel, Mallory, and now Megan!

If I’d allow it, she’d love to dress me everyday―perhaps several times a day―like some oversized three-dimensional paper doll. – Stephenie Meyer • All fashion brands are about looking good. Being Human is also about doing good. And you can do good by the simple act of slipping into a t-shirt or a pair of jeans. – Salman Khan • All of my life, actually, I had a real strong relationship with God, but I was always in the closet about it. Im in the exact same outfit every day. – Natasha Lyonne • Antarctica, one of the things that was so remarkable about it was that the ice itself is a kind of pure geometry, so say, for example, if I was facing someone wearing I don’t know, a Joy Division t-shirt with the mountains on it or something like that. – DJ Spooky • At home, a T-shirt and something loose like harem pants would do. If I’m stepping out, a pair of blue jeans and a white tee are just fine. – Genelia D’Souza • At the beginning of my career I was going through a really weird phase of dressing in boys clothes. I would only wear one American Apparel T-shirt and shorts and brogues the whole year round. Not the same T-shirt, obviously, but one style of American Apparel T-shirt. I think I was going through a tomboy stage. – Florence Welch (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

I used to have T-shirts that said ‘Dierks of Hazzard’ custom-made.- Dierks Bentley • I always find it difficult to dress in between seasons, but I quite like putting T-shirts on with a vest over the top and another layer so you can peel them back as the day goes on. – Poppy Delevingne • I am inspired by anything beautiful. Sometime it’s a pair of eyes or flowing gorgeous hair, other times it’s the sky or a sunset. I’ve been inspired by supple skin or the texture of a soft shirt. – Nadine Velazquez • I am of the generation of segregation. Black Lives Matter is post. Moreover, I think it’s about constantly challenging classical ideas by bringing in unexpected and different elements; for example a long, elegant evening skirt paired with a simple t-shirt on the red carpet. I think this approach is the future. – Roksanda Ilincic • I don’t believe in cancer walks. Well, I believe in them because they exist but I’d rather just give money straight up and save my Saturday afternoon. I can make my own t-shirt, that’s not incentive. Plus I don’t think cancer responds to how far people walk. I don’t think cancer’s sitting at home, ‘What? How many people walked how far? How many people walked how far wearing the same shirt? That’s crazy! I’m out of here!’ Remission. – Hannibal Buress • I don’t want to be carried out of a club wearing a tie-dye T-shirt and a cap on the wrong way around when I am 70, but I would like to settle down a bit. Come on, It’s because it’s the world I live in! – John Lydon • I hate formal stuff. I love looking like a doll and all that stuff and playing dress up, but when I’m home, sweat pants, t-shirt. That was the uniform at home. – Lou Doillon • I have a few girlfriends, but nearly all my friends are guys. I don’t think I ever wore girl clothes. But, I still standout more than a lot of people in the room so I can’t really describe it but I know from the outside looking in people can explain better than I can. – Lil Herb • I myself identify as a recovering Blockhead. You’d be surprised how many twenty- and thirty-something hipster chicks have the NKOTB skeleton in their closet, albeit artfully concealed by stacks of Ksubi skinny jeans and ironic Judas Priest T-shirts. – Diablo Cody • I noticed that difference early on, like if you were successful in rock ‘n’ roll, that was a really bad thing, you almost had to hide it. You had these guys selling 200 million records with dirty T-shirts on. I was like, ‘Come on, man. Come on. We know you’re successful.’ Hip-hop is more about attaining wealth. People respect success. They respect big. They don’t even have to like your music. If you’re big enough, people are drawn to you. – Jay-Z • I really like the idea of being utilitarian. I remember him having a royal blue blazer and all black t-shirt and he came out of a blue Corvette. That was dope to us. Because I’m just in Hawaii and Malibu; it’s just kind of T-shirts and surfing-type stuff. – Owen Wilson • I think someone’s biggest competition is themselves. I stand out as a ‘fashion’ designer and not to be confused with, (people who call themselves ‘clothing’ designers, who just print designs or logos on pre-existing t-shirts), because what I have created is custom fashions that are a personal extension of myself and my personality. It’s pretty unique since there is only one of me. – Ashley Purdy • I think the first thing we need to talk about is you not running around in tight T-shirts and yoga pants.” “Fine. I was really happy and excited to be there, but I was so defensive and crazy. – Kristen Stewart • I used to wear sleeveless T-shirts all the time on court, but now I’ve got a brand new look – I’ve moved on to polo shirts. And I still do. Because that’s really who I am. – Missy Peregrym • I wanted to start a menswear line of slim-fitting, luxury cashmere jumpers in a range of great colors. I know these jumpers will become season-less staples in my own wardrobe. Cashmere and silk printed scarves and hand-beaded T-shirts compliment the line and form a solid foundation for the collection to grow next season. – Matthew Williamson • I was in New York last Christmas – it’s snowing; there’s a guy in a t-shirt. I’m like, ‘Dude, aren’t you cold?’ ‘No, I’m from New York. I don’t get cold.’ Just ’cause you’re from a cold place doesn’t mean you’re genetically predisposed to not feeling cold. Just like a lot of people in England from my generation. – Paul Weller • I wear my Peggy Fleming T-shirt when I go to sleep every night before I compete, and for the past four years, it’s brought me incredible good luck. – Sarah Hughes • I would never talk to a girl in a bar, like a pick-up thing. But I could talk to anyone if they wore a t-shirt of a band I like. – Craig Finn • If I ever wear a Chelsea shirt, you have permission to kill me. – Cesc Fabregas • If I haven’t put that on a T-shirt, I’m going to. Actually, I really don’t want to write anything that can’t be put on a T-shirt. Actually I’d like to write only on T-shirts. Actually, I’d like to write whole novels on T-shirts. So you guys could say, ‘I’m wearing chapter 8 of Lestat’s new book, that’s my favorite; oh I see you’re wearing chapter 6- – Anne Rice • If I was left to my own devices, you would see about ten T-shirts in rotation with maybe a few nice pairs of jeans – but I also like to look good. Real life is pushing strollers up the street, folding T-shirts, the alarm clock going off early and you dropping into bed exhausted every night. That’s real life. – Anna Quindlen • If you’re a man and you have big tits, don’t wear a tight T-shirt, okay? It confuses the children! – Dennis Miller • If you’ve got a bloodstain on your T-shirt, maybe dirty laundry isn’t your biggest problem. – Jerry Seinfeld • I’ll look through ‘Us Weekly’ and I’ll see a picture of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston. Even if they’re like just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, they still look great.’ – Moby • I’ll wear little dresses for a look and then it’ll become only shorts for a while or only t-shirts for a while. I’ve got a Chicago one worth $100. – Michael Rosenbaum • I’m just saying, ‘Hey, throw me a bone. How about a smile, cute t-shirt? Look at me.’ Nothing – unless it’s a turn to their friends to go, ‘Hey, why is that weird guy looking at us?’ – Marc Maron • I’m most comfortable in T-shirts, but they have to have some style to them. – Giada De Laurentiis • I’m not going to be able to make things that I can call Kanye West just by making T-shirts. – Kanye West • I’m not interested in thinking up the name of a band and a logo and all that. Been there, done that, sold a million T-shirts. – Sebastian Bach • I’m pretty low-key; you’ll often find me in jeans, a T-shirt and sweatshirt. – Olivia Wilde • I’m quite tactile, so I like fabrics that feel good. I would wear the same outfit every time – a different T-shirt underneath, but I’d wear the same jacket and zip it up so they couldn’t see what I was wearing underneath, and the same hat. • A clothing company is making T-shirts inspired by Bernie Sanders with messages like ‘Feel the Bern.’ They were gonna make them for Lincoln Chafee too, but no one wants to wear a shirt that says ‘Feel the Chafee.’ – Jimmy Fallon • Alice was scrutinizing my boring jeans-and-a-T-shirt outfit in a way that made me self-conscious. Probably plotting another makeover. I sighed. My indifferent attitude to fashion was a constant thorn in her side. If I’d allow it, she’d love to dress me everyday―perhaps several times a day―like some oversized three-dimensional paper doll. – Stephenie Meyer • All fashion brands are about looking good. Being Human is also about doing good. And you can do good by the simple act of slipping into a t-shirt or a pair of jeans. – Salman Khan • All of my life, actually, I had a real strong relationship with God, but I was always in the closet about it. The only distance out of the closet I really want to come there is having my tattoo or wearing my t-shirt. – Sinead O’Connor • All true wisdom is found on T-shirts. – Abraham Lincoln • And of course there is nothing better than wearing the same T-shirt for days and not brushing my hair for weeks. – Daria Werbowy • And, the sets that they built are just so beautiful. It’s like going to a completely foreign country and experiencing a new culture that you’ve never seen before, especially at Camelot. It’s just so magical. Personally, it’s just so much more interesting than wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and walking around somebody else’s house. – Tamsin Egerton • Anormal day looks like, you know, shower, put on the same jeans, the same tattered Gucci loafers I got at the thrift store, white socks, and my t-shirt and my very beat-up Helmut Lang blazer. Im in the exact same outfit every day. – Natasha Lyonne • Antarctica, one of the things that was so remarkable about it was that the ice itself is a kind of pure geometry, so say, for example, if I was facing someone wearing I don’t know, a Joy Division t-shirt with the mountains on it or something like that. – DJ Spooky • At home, a T-shirt and something loose like harem pants would do. If I’m stepping out, a pair of blue jeans and a white tee are just fine. – Genelia D’Souza • At the beginning of my career I was going through a really weird phase of dressing in boys clothes. I would only wear one American Apparel T-shirt and shorts and brogues the whole year round. Not the same T-shirt, obviously, but one style of American Apparel T-shirt. I think I was going through a tomboy stage. – Florence Welch (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
jQuery(document).ready(function($) var data = action: 'polyxgo_products_search', type: 'Product', keywords: 'Shirt', orderby: 'rand', order: 'DESC', template: '1', limit: '68', columns: '4', viewall:'Shop All', ; jQuery.post(spyr_params.ajaxurl,data, function(response) var obj = jQuery.parseJSON(response); jQuery('#thelovesof_shirt').html(obj); jQuery('#thelovesof_shirt img.swiper-lazy:not(.swiper-lazy-loaded)' ).each(function () var img = jQuery(this); img.attr("src",img.data('src')); img.addClass( 'swiper-lazy-loaded' ); img.removeAttr('data-src'); ); ); );
• Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. – Steig Larsson • Being a good Hans Haacke student, part of his influence on me is that there’s no difference between a gallery show and a film – or even an ad and a T-shirt-in terms of cultural legitimacy. They’re just different contexts in which to have some sort of communication. – Mike Mills • Britney Spears became my talisman. I became obsessed with wearing Britney T-shirts. I felt it would bring me luck. And it did. – Madonna Ciccone • But in some ways, I’m like an old woman – lived it, seen it, done it, been there, have the T-shirt. – Drew Barrymore Cassandra Clare • Christian stretched out beside her and pulled her close. ʺBut for what itʹs worth, I think youʹd be a great queen too, Princess Dragomir.ʺ ʺYouʹre going to get dirty,ʺ she warned. ʺAlready am. Oh, you mean from your clothes?ʺ He wrapped his arms around her, heedless of her damp and muddy state. ʺI spent most of my childhood hiding in a dusty attic and own exactly one dress shirt. I reached over to the nightstand and flipped off the lamp. A moment of silence, and then I heard a lecherous murmur. ‘I like your penguins. – Lisa Kleypas • Dammit, Michael, get out of my room, you pervert!” Could you even be a pervert if you were dead? She supposed you could, if you had a working body half the time. “I swear, I’m going to start taking my clothes off!” The cold spot stayed resolutely put until she got the hem of her T-shirt all the way up to her bra line, and then faded away. “Chicken,” she said, and paced the room, back and forth. – Rachel Caine • Elegance is always in style for men. People come to me for butterflies! – Anna Sui • Generally speaking, I’m a jeans, T-shirt and boots man but I do own an Armani suit, which gets a regular outing. It’s nothing fancy – just a classic, well-cut suit with clean lines and beautiful tailoring. I used to have T-shirts that said ‘Dierks of Hazzard’ custom-made.- Dierks Bentley • I always find it difficult to dress in between seasons, but I quite like putting T-shirts on with a vest over the top and another layer so you can peel them back as the day goes on. – Poppy Delevingne • I am inspired by anything beautiful. Sometime it’s a pair of eyes or flowing gorgeous hair, other times it’s the sky or a sunset. I’ve been inspired by supple skin or the texture of a soft shirt. – Nadine Velazquez • I am of the generation of segregation. Black Lives Matter is post. I said today, and I will say all the time, “If Nina [Simone] were here, she’d have her Black Lives Matter [T-shirt] on.” I think they’re great kids. That’s, like, best friend stuff.” “Feeling left out?” said Kyle. “I suppose you want to borrow a black T-shirt too.” “As long as everyone’s wearing their own pants.” “I see have come in on a fascinating moment in the conversation.” Eric poked his head through the curtain. – Cassandra Clare • I could get a T-shirt that says ‘All in for Week 4 of the Preseason.’ That’s not quite as catchy, and I don’t have an endorsement deal with an apparel company. Moreover, I think it’s about constantly challenging classical ideas by bringing in unexpected and different elements; for example a long, elegant evening skirt paired with a simple t-shirt on the red carpet. I think this approach is the future. – Roksanda Ilincic • I don’t believe in cancer walks. Well, I believe in them because they exist but I’d rather just give money straight up and save my Saturday afternoon. I can make my own t-shirt, that’s not incentive. Plus I don’t think cancer responds to how far people walk. I don’t think cancer’s sitting at home, ‘What? How many people walked how far? How many people walked how far wearing the same shirt? That’s crazy! I’m out of here!’ Remission. – Hannibal Buress • I don’t want to be carried out of a club wearing a tie-dye T-shirt and a cap on the wrong way around when I am 70, but I would like to settle down a bit. She needs to invest in a hairbrush.’ – Kristen Stewart • I got into music by happenchance and luck and wearing a t-shirt with “I hate Pink Floyd” on it. The irony has never failed to amuse me ever since because I didn’t hate Pink Floyd at all! And yet you have an entire range of people out there believing that the best thing you can do in life is to hate Pink Floyd. Come on, It’s because it’s the world I live in! – John Lydon • I hate formal stuff. I love looking like a doll and all that stuff and playing dress up, but when I’m home, sweat pants, t-shirt. When I’m in the studio, sweat pants, t-shirt. – Nicki Minaj • I hate ready-made suits, button-down collars, and sports shirts. – Bobby Fischer • I hate short hair on men – the ‘real’ man is something I don’t know. That was the uniform at home. – Lou Doillon • I have a few girlfriends, but nearly all my friends are guys. I don’t think I ever wore girl clothes. But, I still standout more than a lot of people in the room so I can’t really describe it but I know from the outside looking in people can explain better than I can. – Lil Herb • I myself identify as a recovering Blockhead. You’d be surprised how many twenty- and thirty-something hipster chicks have the NKOTB skeleton in their closet, albeit artfully concealed by stacks of Ksubi skinny jeans and ironic Judas Priest T-shirts. – Diablo Cody • I noticed that difference early on, like if you were successful in rock ‘n’ roll, that was a really bad thing, you almost had to hide it. You had these guys selling 200 million records with dirty T-shirts on. I was like, ‘Come on, man. Come on. We know you’re successful.’ Hip-hop is more about attaining wealth. People respect success. They respect big. They don’t even have to like your music. If you’re big enough, people are drawn to you. – Jay-Z • I really like the idea of being utilitarian. She was so embarrassed when she saw me. And I was trying desperately not to laugh. – Guy Garvey • I remember watching Mike [Michael Jordan]. I remember him having a royal blue blazer and all black t-shirt and he came out of a blue Corvette. That was dope to us. But I love it, and it means a lot to me, so any chance to help promote it or celebrate it or not make the hackiest jokes – ‘Bowlers are like plumbers and they wear the craziest shirts!’ – I’m way into. – Chris Hardwick • I think somebody like Wes [Anderson] has a very good sense of style and is original. I think my sense of style got a little bit better after I was exposed to you guys at Valentino. Because I’m just in Hawaii and Malibu; it’s just kind of T-shirts and surfing-type stuff. – Owen Wilson • I think someone’s biggest competition is themselves. I stand out as a ‘fashion’ designer and not to be confused with, (people who call themselves ‘clothing’ designers, who just print designs or logos on pre-existing t-shirts), because what I have created is custom fashions that are a personal extension of myself and my personality. It’s pretty unique since there is only one of me. – Ashley Purdy • I think the first thing we need to talk about is you not running around in tight T-shirts and yoga pants.” “Fine. I’ll stop doing that as soon as you shave.” Jack ran his hand along his jaw and grinned. “You like the scruff, huh?” Did she ever. – Julie James • I think the worst professional advice I’ve received… I feel I’ve been lucky in that I’ve gotten a lot of wonderful guidance, but I remember – and I would never do this to someone – I remember going into a manager’s office, the manager I had in New York, and this was way back when. I was really happy and excited to be there, but I was so defensive and crazy. – Kristen Stewart • I used to wear sleeveless T-shirts all the time on court, but now I’ve got a brand new look – I’ve moved on to polo shirts. Sleeveless T-shirts give you real freedom of movement and they keep you cooler in matches, but I just thought it was time for a change. – Rafael Nadal • I want to prove that he’s wrong – he’s wearing a t-shirt that says he won the last two fights. – Manny Pacquiao • I want young people to be able to buy into what I design. When I was young, I wanted to buy designer brands even if all I could afford was the cheapest wallet, the cheapest pen, the cheapest T-shirt because I wanted to be a part of it. – Nicola Formichetti • I wanted to go on the red carpet with a baseball cap, t-shirt, and jeans. And I still do. Because that’s really who I am. – Missy Peregrym • I wanted to start a menswear line of slim-fitting, luxury cashmere jumpers in a range of great colors. I know these jumpers will become season-less staples in my own wardrobe. Cashmere and silk printed scarves and hand-beaded T-shirts compliment the line and form a solid foundation for the collection to grow next season. – Matthew Williamson • I was in New York last Christmas – it’s snowing; there’s a guy in a t-shirt. I’m like, ‘Dude, aren’t you cold?’ ‘No, I’m from New York. I don’t get cold.’ Just ’cause you’re from a cold place doesn’t mean you’re genetically predisposed to not feeling cold. I could put hin on replay doing that and watch it all day. – Tammara Webber • I wear jeans and a T-shirt sometimes. I just like clothes – since the first time I can remember, like age ten or eleven; I was just obsessed with music and clothes. Just like a lot of people in England from my generation. – Paul Weller • I wear my Peggy Fleming T-shirt when I go to sleep every night before I compete, and for the past four years, it’s brought me incredible good luck. – Sarah Hughes • I would never talk to a girl in a bar, like a pick-up thing. But I could talk to anyone if they wore a t-shirt of a band I like. – Craig Finn • If I ever wear a Chelsea shirt, you have permission to kill me. – Cesc Fabregas • If I haven’t put that on a T-shirt, I’m going to. Actually, I really don’t want to write anything that can’t be put on a T-shirt. Actually I’d like to write only on T-shirts. Actually, I’d like to write whole novels on T-shirts. So you guys could say, ‘I’m wearing chapter 8 of Lestat’s new book, that’s my favorite; oh I see you’re wearing chapter 6- – Anne Rice • If I was left to my own devices, you would see about ten T-shirts in rotation with maybe a few nice pairs of jeans – but I also like to look good. I like feeling really well put together, I just don’t have the aptitude and the knowledge to do that. – Daniel Radcliffe • If I were Osama, and the United States government were actually looking for me, I’d be clean-shaven by now, crewcutted, wearing jeans and a ZZ Top T-shirt, and living in a nice little house in Lincoln, Nebraska. – L. Real life is pushing strollers up the street, folding T-shirts, the alarm clock going off early and you dropping into bed exhausted every night. That’s real life. – Anna Quindlen • If you’re a man and you have big tits, don’t wear a tight T-shirt, okay? It confuses the children! – Dennis Miller • If you’ve got a bloodstain on your T-shirt, maybe dirty laundry isn’t your biggest problem. – Jerry Seinfeld • I’ll look through ‘Us Weekly’ and I’ll see a picture of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston. Even if they’re like just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, they still look great.’ – Moby • I’ll wear little dresses for a look and then it’ll become only shorts for a while or only t-shirts for a while.
