If you told me a year ago that I would get into makeup and then obsess over it to the point where I legit document in the notes app on my phone, the different color and product combinations I’ve used along with which clothes they look the best with, I would’ve asked if you were high. 🙃😅
#and now here i am…furiously typing away in my notes app about different makeup combinations and which scrubs they look the best with#this is primarily because my dumbass can never fully remember what colors/products i used to achieve a certain look#so i’m writing this shit down now so it’s easier to choose which makeup to use for the day#what i’ve discovered since getting into makeup is i like to use colorful make just as much as i like to wear colorful scrubs#and what’s more is i ALSO like coordinating my makeup colors to MATCH my scrubs#so if i’m wearing blue scrubs i want to use blue eyeshadow and blue lipstick so it all matches#i think part of why i’ve been enjoying this so much is that coordinating the colors like this makes it all feel like art#it’s like i’m drawing and coloring but instead of my tablet or a piece of paper i’m doing it on my face#makeup really IS an art form and i can’t believe it’s taken me this long to fully realize it and how much fun it can actually be#not me rocking up to work in bright sparkly green eyeshadow and light blue lipstick to match me Toy Story pizza alien scrubs#thankfully no one has given me any crap for my choice of makeup colors so far#and i would like to think that it’s because i really try to match all the colors i use with my scrubs#so it at least all looks good together#but more than likely it’s because i’m not hurting anyone by doing this and my face is still recognizable#it’s not like i’m over here painting my face to look like pennywise or some shit#the most ‘extreme’ thing about my makeup is just the colors#i’m not doing any crazy designs or anything#just using colors you probably wouldn’t wear on a day to day basis#such as bright green eyeshadow and light blue lipstick#the way i see it is if i’m allowed to wear colorful scrubs and it’s not an issue then why would colorful makeup be an issue?#tomorrow i’m going to wear blue-purple eyeshadow and purple lipstick with my dark blue scrubs#because i think it will look neat#will update on how it turns out

He looks so charming and curious! I can tell you put a lot of effort into the coloring, what with all the scale detailing. I think the scale patterns look very nice, especially on his face.
Digital art can be a very different beast from traditional. Sorry in advance if anything I’m about to say is obvious, or you’re already doing it. Theyre all things I didnt know to do when I started transitioning from traditional to digital art.
Sometimes, the lines you draw on the traditional version look great as is, but when you digitize it, it just feels so wonk. Treat your traditional drawing as a rough draft. Focus less on tracing the traditional art, and spend more time looking only at what you have digitized and going, ‘do i like how this looks?’ It can help you from, at the end of the process, from going, ‘why did it turn out like that?’ And if its still not working out, turn off the traditional art layer and try freehanding it.
Inverse advice, while still making sure you spend time zoomed out looking at the whole piece, zoom in to draw lines. Yes, even further. It will make your lines straighter and help you bend that curve in the direction you want it to go. Then you zoom out and check it looks like you thought it would. It will also help you add detail where you would otherwise be afraid to put it in a traditional piece, like adding lots of detail in a folded wing.
What drawing app are you using, and what hardware do you have access to? Its stupid how much my art improved leaps and bounds when I switched to a better app and got a second hand tablet instead of using my laptop trackpad (if you can, use literally anything besides a laptop trackpad.)
Explore whatever app youre using a little more. Find a different brush, or at the very least, change the brush thickness depending on what youre drawing. It can be nice to have big, bold lines around the edge of the form, or to define his head from his body, but they suddenly seem clunkier when detailing his wing shoulder. A brush that changes thickness based on pressure is great for that, but again, just making the brush smaller does the trick too. The smaller brush will also help make added detail feel less clunky.
And whatever you do, dont berate your artistic skill if you dont like your digitized stuff. Its a different skill that you havent built yet. I can tell from this drawing that youre a good traditional artist, and you can be a good digital artist as well (after a series of what feels like failures but is actually just part of a learning process). Most of the stuff that Id pick on in this drawing are the product of unfamiliarity with digital art, and not having access to a tablet with a great drawing app and a pressure sensitive stylus. You can do great digital art without it, but it is harder and it does restrict your style.
Once you feel comfortable with it, try drawing something digitally without uploading a traditional rough draft. I actually found it a little easier!
I did a traditional drawing a few weeks ago and I decided to turn it into a piece of digital art :D
I would really appreciate some advice on how I could improve this :)

So. I’m just gonna do some musings really quick about art
Earlier this year I posted a (now deleted) post about how I’d been gifted a fancy draw on the screen drawing tablet for Christmas and I couldn’t bring myself to touch it because my art was just so bad and using a tablet like that was so humiliating knowing that it was made for “good artists” and I had no business using a tool like that even knowing the tool itself is inanimate and doesn’t care.
Those were very real feelings at the time and I don’t want to shit on my past self too much for it. The sight of it made me feel guilty because I knew it was expensive but I couldn’t bring myself to draw on it because I legitimately just felt that I had not deserved it, and I’d be... I don’t know... bringing shame onto art if a lowly scribbler such as I tried to use such a tool
It’s a Huion btw. Not even a Cintiq. Really it’s a very dramatic response
BUT this year after I got on Adderall and Prozac I did eventually force myself to draw on it, which reminded me oh yeah! I love drawing! And eventually, lead to a change in how I view art
See, I realized that until now I'd been looking at art as this... unobtainable thing. I'd see beautiful drawings or paintings and think "I wish I could do that" and genuinely believe that I couldn't, which was true in the moment, but what I meant was I believed I was incapable of it. That art was some mystical skill I simply didn't have. Again, dramatic, but it's true, I really did believe that
I don't know what exactly flipped the switch, but one day I just sorta realized... art is a skill. There's nothing inherently special about it. It's a skill just like cooking or furniture building or I don't know plumbing. It's not special just because it's "art." It's a skill, which means it can be learned
The person who drew one of my favorite pieces of art didn't just do it, they learned it, there is a way to do what they do, and if there is a way, then I can learn it. I can learn how to color, I can learn how to draw faces from that angle, I can learn how to draw fucking hands even if I'm still struggling because hands just suck so much. There's still a way to do it, if other people can do it, so can I.
And I've grown a lot just in the past few weeks after I realized that, it's making me excited!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
("Aren't these the same two character-" SHHHHHH they're fun to draw let me have my moment)
The minute I thought "Oh wait I can learn how to do this" I did, and I've made strides! It's nice to look at a pose or come up with an idea and instead of thinking "I wish I could draw that" think "I want to try and draw that" That's really all it took, a switch from "I wish I could" to "I want to try"
I'm not a great artist, I'm really REALLY unsure about calling myself an artist or any of the above art. But I'm glad I can finally allow myself to try and learn and grow. I'm glad I'm having fun. I'm just happy.
2022 has been the worst year of my life but I somehow managed to do this despite it all, I'm proud of that. I don't want to stop, and if I don't, I'm excited to see where I'll be art-wise this time next year

We, as in myself and the people who seem to be surrounding me, are short selling ourselves for pennies
This is a post mainly for the younger artists. Those who’s main source of commissions use da points or some other virtual currency. Please reblog and share this so the people who need to read this will see it.
Essay under cut, as well as more in-depth pricing by professionals linked at the bottom of the post.
TL;DR: If you take a half an hour on an art piece, price it $5 minimally. Then price your stuff at around $5 every half hour it takes. No this isn’t overpricing yourself. It’s still underpricing.
Just today as I start writing this, my sister came to me and my mom asking if we could meet up with a stranger who was buying her car, so we can get the check for her.
I went, haha, you can pay me $20 to do that. But then my mom and sister were like ‘that’s cheap’, so I bumped it to $50, and then $75.
But then my mom turns around and asks for $200, which both her and my sister agreed that was reasonable, as it would leave my sister with over $500 net value (the amount of money you get in the end)
And that hit me. And it, along with professional suggestions that I’ve looked at in the past and absorbed into my subconscious, as well as seeing people go “I can do 200-300 da points for a ref sheet!” Made me stop, spin around, and think.
If we go by my own conversions, 100 da points equals $1. A reference sheet is one fullbody minimum. So you’re basically doing a fullbody for $2-3 bucks, or even 50¢ as I’ve seen some people.
Now, I get it. I ended up surrounded by people who are minors. Those below age 19 who don’t have experience, and who may have a stable household. But, here, let me phrase it this way.
Your clients, the people paying for your art, aren’t just paying for art. They’re paying for your time and experience.
I take 30 minutes per piece of art on average, the numbers taken from the month of August, which has a variety of a sketchy headshot, and a full scene with a background, all colored and shaded, with some as exceptions. As thus, I will be using the $ per half hour phrasing instead of the $ per hour phrasing professionals use. I will also be doing $5 a half hour. While yes, professionals such as the animators who host BamAnimations recommend $15 an hour for teenagers, half of that is $7.50. $5 is a simpler number to do math with.
So for me, the shortest timeframe I took of a Art piece was a fully shaded sketchy headshot at 9 minutes. And the highest was a fully shaded scene, with extra sketchy not colored characters in the background, at 2 hours and 3 minutes.
As you can see, that is a wide range. You may think that $5 is too much for a 9 minute sketchy headshot, but you should agree that $5 is way too little for a piece that takes 123 minutes. And I am a faster artist, so your time may vary, but anything that takes over 30 minutes should cost more than $5.
If you still believe that the price to half hour I listed is too much, let me also point out the other thing that your client is paying for. Your experience. In this case, I’m not just talking about what you did to learn how to draw. I’m talking about that, in addition to how much time you’ve practiced drawing, as well as what you sacrificed to get to your level of drawing. That could be the cost of the equipment to draw, like a tablet or a drawing program. Or it could be a drawing related injury such as carpal tunnel.
My experience includes this. I started drawing more frequently in 2019, which as of 2022 is over 3 years. That’s the time I’ve spent drawing. I also have used my time watching videos about how to draw, which has increased my quality and time of my art. And while I may not have paid any money to make any of my digital art, I started drawing traditionally, which the sketch books I bought did cut into my budget. And on top of that, when I first dove into digital art in 2020, I made a grave mistake which injured my right arm, rendering it in pain and unusable for months afterwards. That also injured my left arm due to overuse, and I am still feeling the repercussions of that over 2 years later.
Quick tip for people who want to get into digital art. Do NOT use a laptop mousepad to draw.
As you’ve seen, my experience should qualify me to more than that $5 a half an hour baseline. And even if you are only just now starting to get into drawing, you should keep in mind how much time you spend on a drawing, how much time did you spend learning how to draw? How much money did you spend on your drawing journey? And what other sacrifices did you make to get where you are on your drawing journey?
The next step would be to figure out how to price things. Canonkiller (link at end of essay) has a good chart on how to price things, though they use the $15 an hour method. I sincerely recommend their document a read, as they go more into pricing, boundaries, and payment options. But I’ll be using their math here.
Their math starts with the lowest option, a sketchy headshot, and goes to the highest option, a shaded fullbody, and only includes a halfbody/waist up as the other size option. A sketchy headshot is the base price $5. Then lines raises that price by x1.5, which is $7.50. Color raises the price x2, which is $10, and shading raises that to x3, which is $15. Then when the size bumps up to a halfbody, the sketch price goes up to x2 the base price, making it $10, and then the other math follows. This will lead to the shaded halfbody being $30. Fullbody raises the sketch price to x4 the base price, leading the sketchy price $20, and shaded price being $60.
You are probably thinking that this is a lot. And here’s the thing. It is a lot. But here’s the thing. Canonkiller used a $15 base value. Which made the shaded fullbody price to be $180. And that’s just for a shaded fullbody with a simple or transparent background. And Canonkiller said that $180 for a shaded fullbody is still underpaying.
But perhaps $5 a half hour is a better way of decreasing the time of the pricing? Let’s take the 123 minutes from the art piece that took me longest to do, rounding the number up to 125 for easy math. It ends up to be $25. That seems like a lower number. But the math and timing you have to do to figure that pricing out probably isn’t worth it. And you may take more time than I did. But the thing is people are doing this kind of art or more for $5. At the most. You should stop doing that. Just stop it. Take down your commission prices and look up videos on money and business if you need to. And even if you still think it’s a lot, and that you won’t get any commissions like this, BamAnimations said that it’s better to take fewer commissions for more, instead of more commissions for less. It’s better for your health and your pocketbook.
Here’s the thing. I didn’t write this to babble about math, and shame you for pricing your art at 50 da points. I wrote this for the people who think that their art is worth that little. I wrote this for the people who don’t realize they are underpricing themselves. I wrote this for myself. And I wrote this for you.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go adjust my own prices accordingly.
Please watch these guys’ videos. Not only for their pricing opinions. But for their quirky and fun videos teaching art at a professional animator level.
Bam Animation: https://youtu.be/ghQNQNzFmT4
And read this guy’s document. It not only shows a way you should price your stuff, but also it explain how minors (under 18) can get paid with actual money, and how you can set boundaries no matter what others may say.

What hardware and software do you use for digital art? I’m a semicasual artist considering finally upgrading from a trackpad and photoshop, and I want to know about potential options.
First of all mad props for drawing with a track pad, my first digital art was made with a mouse and a track pad just sounds even harder. I’ll go over some hardware options first and then software options!
If you’re looking for a small upgrade, I recommend a tablet. Wacom makes some excellent ones but there’s plenty on the market that are good! They’re basically giant track pads with pens. I used them for some of my early digital art pieces and many professional artists still swear by them. You can get them at most Best Buy’s (well in the USA at least idk where you live) and some of the smaller ones are like $50
If you’re looking for something way more expensive you could get a Wacom cintiq, which you plug into your computer. You can set it up so that it acts as a second screen so that you can draw right on your screen with a pen and then have reference images open on your main computer screen. Super useful. I’ve used that a lot but had to stop for a long time because I didn’t have a good way to set it up, I recently moved so I set it up again and can’t wait to use it :D
A third option, and what I use the most, is an iPad and apple pen. Get a newer iPad if you can so that you can charge the pen by magnetically sticking it to the side to charge instead of plugging it into the iPad, that way both can charge at the same time. I loooove the Apple pen because it lets me angle it so I can get the nice angled strokes I would get from like charcoal or something. Super sensitive and the way colors look on an iPad are STUNNING.
There’s some other hardware options but that’s all I feel qualified to give recommendations on. Onto the software!
You already know photoshop which is great because a lot of buttons and shortcuts in photoshop are the same in other programs. I grew up learning digital art on photoshop, I would even download the old free versions when I couldn’t get my hands on a paid copy. But I don’t use photoshop anymore because it’s a subscription and I don’t wanna pay for that lol. Maybe someday 🤷‍♀️
There’s a TON of free programs that are great, like medibang and fire alpaca. I’ve played around with a few of these but I highly recommend looking up reviews on which one you’d like before getting one. A lot of people use Paint Tool Sai as well, I used to use it a lot, it was a long time ago so I don’t remember how much it cost, I think someone gifted it to me. Just bringing it up because it’s a good program.
I don’t have this yet, but I REALLY want Clip Studio Paint, aka CSP. You can find a ton of fun and free custom brushes people have made for CSP that I’m dying to try!! I’ve heard nothing but good reviews of it. It’s expensive but goes on sale four times a year, it’s going on sale next month and I’m going to get it!!! :D
The software that I use the most right now is Procreate for the iPad and I highly recommend it. Just like CSP people also make custom brushes for it and they’re so much fun. It’s nice to have a super robust art program that’s really portable, you can take it to a cafe and do sketches! If you get an iPad, I highly recommend it!! A lot of people also use heavy paint on iPads, and I haven’t used it, but it looks like it functions a bit differently than procreate. Eventually I’ll try it and can give a solid review of it then.
I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any more questions, and good luck on your art journey!! 🙌

Hello! I don’t know if you’re doing headcannon requests but if you don’t mind could you do something along the lines of “the brothers find out mc likes to draw and drew the brothers”
Hi! I am doing hc requests so thank you for sending this in! It was actually really fun to write, I really hope you enjoy it <3 Got a little carried away with this one too lol

Lucifer:
He’s doing room checks as usual
And you left your sketchpad/drawing tablet out on your desk
You catch sight of it a bit too late and can only watch as Lucifer moves from your dresser to your desk
He pauses as his eyes spot the sketchpad/tablet
He picks it up and looks at it before glancing at you
“May I?”
You nod and nervously watch him go through your work
His face is unreadable as he goes through drawing after drawing of him and his brothers
It feels like an eternity before he finishes
“Do you do commissions?”
It takes a moment for you to register what he’s said
“...what?”
“I’d like to commission you.”
If you do traditional art he asks for a 30x40 of him and his brothers
If you do digital art he asks for a colored, full-body piece of him and his brothers
He lets you decide how much you want to be paid
But he thinks it’s not enough so he pays you 55,000 Grimm
The 30x40 piece hangs in his study
The colored, full-body piece is printed, framed, and sitting on his desk
Mammon:
He bursts into your room one night when you’re finishing up a drawing of Satan and Asmo
You’re not fast enough to hide it from him
“Is that Satan and Asmo? Oi! Where’s my drawing!?”
Before you can show him anything else he’s speaking again
“N-not that I care! It’s hard to capture this perfection! I can see why you haven’t drawn me!”
He tries to act unbothered, but you can see past his tsundere ways
Once he’s done declaring how unbothered he is, you show him some pieces with him in it
He grabs the pad/tablet excitedly and snatches it from you to marvel over your work
“This is actually really good, ya know? I bet we could make some good Grimm off your little talent.”
You can practically see the dollar signs in his eyes
But you tell him that is not happening and take your pad/tablet back
He’s a bit mopey about it for a little but eventually lets it go when he sees you aren’t budging
When he does have a little bit of Grimm he does commission you for a small piece
The brothers’ eyes almost bulge out of their head when they hear that Mammon actually paid you for work
“What!? The Great Mammon can be nice sometimes! It doesn’t mean anything!”
It means a lot actually
But you’re a pro at reading between the lines with Mammon
Leviathan:
He’s on social media when he sees a drawing on his explore page that he’s absolutely in love with
The art style? Immaculate. He wanted to see so many of his favorite game and anime characters in this style
He imagines Ruri-chan in your art style and his brain just *internet dial-up noises* for about five minutes
He goes to the artist’s profile and starts scrolling through all their posted work
He pauses when he comes across a drawing that looked suspiciously like him in his demon form
The face was blacked out but the serpentine tail, the horns, the diamonds on the neck, the side zipped hoodie
It had to be him
In shock, he scrolls back to the top of the profile and checks out the bio and name of the artist
He is greeted by a very familiar face and name
He is in your room less than 2 minutes later
“You! Y-You did this!?”
You almost drop your pad/tablet thanks to his outburst and abrupt entrance
You look at the DDD that was shoved in your face and slowly nod
You thought he was gonna blow up at you for posting a drawing of him, even though his face wasn’t in it
You are very wrong
Levi becomes your #1 source of income
The moment you finish a piece, he is commissioning you again
You worry that he’s draining his bank account because he tips you very well
But he isn’t bothered at all by it
All of your pieces are on display in his room
He also posts all of your art on his social media and tags you
Your page explodes in popularity and the commissions are rolling in from his online friends
You had no idea otakus pay so well
Mammon is very jealous of the amount of Grimm you have piling up
Satan:
One day he asks you about your hobbies and you tell him you draw
“What do you draw?”
Cue internal conflict on if it’s weird to tell someone you’ve been drawing them and their brothers since you’re always around each other
He senses your hesitation and like the smart ass he is, he’s able to guess exactly why
“Would your hesitance be because of the subject of your art?”
He knows too much for his own good
You decide it’s best for him to see it instead of telling him
Being a fan of literary art, you were worried he may be overly critical of your fine art
He was not the type to sugarcoat anything
However, he simply smiles and hands your pad/tablet back
“You’re incredibly talented, MC.”
A few days later he asks you to tag along with him while he handles something
That ‘something’ is going to feed some stray cats he’s come across
“MC, I’d like to commission you. I’ve found homes for these cats but I want something to remember them by. Will you help me?”
How can you say no to a man holding four cats in his arms?
You take some photos for reference and make four different pieces for him
When you give them to Satan, you swear you’ve never seen a bigger smile on his face
He framed them all and keeps them on top of his bookshelves
Asmodeus:
He found out through Levi’s social media
He commissioned you for a piece of him and the protagonist of a game he recently started playing
This piques Asmo’s interest and he wonders if you’ve ever drawn him before
He approaches you when you’re in the kitchen grabbing a drink
“Hi, darling. I saw the piece you did for Levi and naturally if you’ve done one of him you’ve probably drawn my beauty as well, right?”
You decide to show him since he brought it up
He’s gushing over all of your art
No, seriously, he is praising you so much even the tip of your ears start burning from your blush
He commissions you to draw him in many different ways
Him in his bedroom, him in the bath, him as a mermaid, him as an exotic dancer
He comes to you with so many different ideas
He tests your limits but you actually like that
Beelzebub:
Beel is rather stoic, but he doesn’t mean to be
It was his resting face and smiling was usually reserved for eating yummy food
But you wanted to practice drawing him with different expressions
Beel’s welcoming manner gave you the courage to approach him and ask if you can take some pictures of him to use for a reference
He’s shocked you wanna draw him but agrees with the condition that he gets to see some of your other work
You show him different pieces of him and his brothers and he’s smiling the entire time
“These are all so good. I didn’t know you could draw.”
He commissions a piece of him and Belphegor and one of all seven brothers
But he also asks if he can watch you draw them
You both spend quite a few nights together
You drawing and him munching on snacks and feeding you some every once in a while
His presence is actually pretty calming so you ask him if he minds staying around while you work even after you finish his commission
Beel being Beel, agrees to keep you company
The night usually ends with him carrying you to bed
Sometimes, he takes you to his bed to cuddle
Belphegor:
Belphie was actually the first brother you drew
You came across him asleep in the attic once and he looked so perfect
Your fingers were itching to draw him, so you did
It became a routine for you to head to the attic and draw him while he slept
You always crept out before he woke up
You thought he had no idea of your little practice sessions
But one day you looked down to fix a mistake you made on his nose
When you looked back up you saw Belphie staring right at you
“You know, if you’re gonna draw me the least you can do is show me.”
You try to stammer out an apology as he sits up
“Oh, I don’t care. You don’t make noise or anything, I’m just very hyperaware of my surroundings. So I know when someone is in the same room as me when I sleep.”
He moves over to you and looks at your pad/tablet
“Hm, not bad MC. Show me your other work some time.”
Then he goes back to his sleeping spot, curls up, and falls back asleep
You sit there with your pencil/stylus in your hand, trying to wrap your head around what just happened
But he didn’t seem disturbed so you continue drawing
When he wakes up you show him more of your work featuring his brothers
He asks if he can have a quick sketch you did of him and Beel
You jokingly say he has to pay for it
He actually pays you for it
He puts it up in his room
It’s nice to see when you visit him and Beel

i was gonna draw tonight but i dropped my tablet pen and the barrel of the pen broke off and flew somewhere underneath (??) my bed (?) and now i cant find it so I’m just gonna answer asks before bed instead. just some art asks and more mentions of infinity train LOL
Tumblr media
What program and brushes do you use when making your art?
@ravki hi! part of this is in my FAQ but i’ll say it again anyways LOL: I use photoshop CC and have used photoshop for pretty much....my whole art career. I’ve dabbled in clip and paint tool sai in the past but photoshop is my true wife, we eloped away from her awful father adobe many years ago and are very happy together.
as for brushes... I should prob put this info in my FAQ too lol,... my default brush set is actually free to download here! Tho I will say I also use steve ahn’s storyboarding brush sometimes and lately i’ve been using shiyoon kim’s brushes A TON. Shiyoon’s cost a couple bucks but they’re super worth it imo
How do you choose colors?
This is kind of a difficult one to describe from scratch but hmm.... I’ll put it this way. Generally when I go into coloring or painting something I already have some colors in mind. Like for a certain piece I know I want a bright green, or a magenta, or a dark blue in certain areas. A lot of the time I know a mood I want. So I’ll start with that core color tone and build around it. I’ll use an example from a recent piece
Tumblr media
So you can see here that the first color I accessed was that bright cyan. So I start with that bright cyan and then bring in its “friends” in the form of analogous colors (shown below on the far left)
Tumblr media
greens greys etc. THEN I know I want the characters to stand out against all the blue so I start laying down warm contrasting colors for them (middle group). the mat under them is orange, skin tones are warm, ryans flannel is red etc. then to get them to work together I work more cool colors into the shadows and slightly warmer (not too warm because its a cool img overall so in this case, greener LOL) colors into highlights.
hope that makes sense? for me choosing colors is a lot about story and composition. If you know what you want to say, the mood you want to create, where you want to go, the path to get there becomes a lot clearer imo.
Have you ever considered making an art book?
I have! But I don’t think I currently have enough...original illustrations for one LOL? Not that an art book has to be all original work but if I were putting fanart in an art book...at that point I’d just make a fanzine. I’m making more original work lately though so maybe this year....? Who knows. For now, I do have a sketchbook up on gumroad. Hoping to do one of those next year too.
Any tips for keeping background drawings from getting super stiff, especially since things like interiors have a lot of straight lines?
This is a really interesting ask. Really great question that I don’t think gets asked enough - forgive me if I get a bit art school here but I drew up some examples.
First I think we have to investigate the assumption that straight lines make things stiff. That seems true on an instinctual level and certainly proves to be true very often But I don’t think its actually the straight lines themselves but the sort of arrangements and compositions they tend to dictate. Take this for instance.
Tumblr media
pretty big difference, right? there’s a couple things that make a composition feel stiff and one of the most significant is lines that are perpendicular and parallel to the frame. it feels locked in and solid, like bricks. but the moment you shift these angles even a little the composition instantly becomes more dynamic because our innate senses of weight, gravity, and directionality can sense movement.
But it’s not just diagonals let’s take this one step further
Tumblr media
when lines meet and terminate together those tangents can flatten and lock space so the best way to solve this is with overlap and complete intersection, forms continuing past or behind each other feel more layered and less like a flat mosaic... again, even in the simplest line drawings. So how do we apply this to a background?
Tumblr media
ok I drew this really fast so its potentially not the best example but I think the idea is there. This space isn’t even particularly deep, it’s basically a room, a doorway, and a hallway behind it, and we’re not seeing that much of any of those things LOL. but when you draw an environmental object like a doorway in a way that lines up with the perpendicular and parallel lines of the canvas you’re automatically flattening it and making it look rigid.
and when you create tangents with objects and characters you flatten the space around them and make it difficult to tell what is actually in front or behind or if they’re on the same plane.
GOD I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE. Anyways. avoid those things and you’ll instantly have less stiff bgs no matter what kind of bg you’re depicting.
I wanna mention however that this isn’t to say a stiff bg with flat space doesn’t have its purposes.
Tumblr media
sometimes you want to create parallels and tangents. it can make characters feel closed in, trapped, regimented, part of a routine, etc. it’s also great for making a composition look ornamental (especially combined with symmetry).
Tumblr media
directors like wes anderson can even use these compositional elements to make images feel uncanny or harrowing! its very versatile. I think the important thing is to just be aware of when you are making something rigid and when that’s the last thing you want to do. conscious choices.
Tumblr media
Can you speak Tagalog?
@lemuelzero101 I can! BUT NOT VERY WELL LOL ;;; both my parents are from Visayas! but they met and had me in the states lol so I’m pretty American born and raised. We go back to visit family on occasion but not regularly. My tagalog is mostly absorbed from listening to relatives at parties lol and my parents speak bisaya at home so I’m marginally better at that. Sorry to any filipinos out there hoping I’d be better educated, I’m like a little baby...
I do love meeting and talking to other filipinos online though, I grew up in an area that was relatively diverse but the asian population was small and the filipino population basically non-existent. I was like one of maybe 2 filipino kids in my highschool of 2000.
Apart from infinity train what shows are you watching now? Have you seen jujitsu kaisen?
Man this is gonna sound so boring but I haven’t watched a lot of tv lately.  It’s not really part of my daily routine. Let’s see... I was sort of watching Amphibia, Craig of the Creek, and the new Digimon Adventure 2020 but I keep falling off watching those for one reason or another. Also there’s a lot of episodes, it doesn’t feel like something I can just binge and be done with.
The last thing I binged was Succession. I want that show and Euphoria back so bad, when I’m done forcing all my friends to watch Infinity Train im cancelling my HBO subscription until Succession and Euphoria return so they know exactly what I’m on their list for LOL.
I have not watched jujitsu kaisen but I’ve kept up with some of the sakuga news (I keep up with anime industry news and production info like x5 the amt i keep up with actual anime) for it and their compositing/editing looks dope. I’ve read the manga actually LOL or at least part of the beginning. I wasn’t super keen on the whole finger eating thing. Also to be honest I kinda feel like its the new Bleach and I never particularly cared about Bleach. Characters look nice enough tho. I wholeheartedly support jjk fans.
Tumblr media
Thank you! Thank you @keznodzieja! <3
And thank you anons who don’t watch infinity train LOL...it’s always nice to hear when people enjoy my fanart despite not knowing the source material because it lifts a little bit of the “oh god am I being annoying???” fear off my chest. But also I think you should watch infinity train because it’s really good I have no reservations recommending it.

Does anyone have any tips for my drawing dream?
Hey you out there :^
I would like to practice my hobby of painting even more than I already do. I love to paint with pen and paper in my old little sketchbook, but I would like to do more now. I would like to paint as beautifully as, for example, heikala or snakequeen7 do it. (I follow them here on Tumblr - what you people are invited to do as well, they paint really magically beautiful ^^) I generally sketch very messy and with a lot of lines and strokes. I have read that Heikala also uses colored ink for painting instead of watercolors. That's very smart and I think I'll give it a try. I'm also thinking about starting to paint on a tablet. Because as I said, since I sketch very "messy" it might help to draw on a tablet with a special app and an electronic pencil (idk how that thingies are called :] ), where I can also use special color effects, etc. How do you see it? Do you have any tips and tricks for me? With drawings you simply bring a piece of your imagination to life - you make it a little more realistic. And I would love to be able to do it as many guys like me who like to paint and draw in their free time.
Have a wonderful day

Retrospective: Illustrated Merlin Alphabet Challenge
Finally finished the Merlin Alphabet Challenge, so here's the artist notes no one asked for! See below the cut for comments on each piece by order of creation. Be warned folks, it's a long post.
Before we begin: credit to @merlin-gifs for the challenge, which can be found here. It's awesome, go do it.
First thing you should know is I did probably 80-90% of these while on phone calls or in Zoom meetings and that's reflected in the simplicity of most pieces -- the compositions aren't complicated, the lines aren't refined, the coloring is slapdash. If you noticed variation in quality of the pieces, that's why!
Second: I tried to focus on trying something new for each drawing. Didn't always happen, but this challenge did succeed in helping me push me out of my own comfort zone.
Without further ado...
A is for Arthur Pendragon
Textures, baby! Brushed metal of his armor, scratchy linen texture of his shirt, wispy softness of hair and skin. I'd recently gotten my tablet out of storage after a year of figuring out where the hell I was going to live and this was one of the first pieces of digital art I spent time on. Glad it was Arthur kicking us off!
B is for the Beginning of the End (1x08)
Fun fact, I did not draw this with my tablet. I drew it with my work computer's touchscreen. It was awful, would not recommend.
C is for Camelot
I wanted to get used to different brushes, so landscape of the castle it was! There are brushes that help with drawing grass; I did not use said brushes and my wrist hurt afterward. That being said, I really enjoyed working on this and it was one of the few pieces I didn't do while multitasking.
D is for Daegal
Also drawn on my work computer's touchscreen, not my tablet. I didn't learn my lesson from B and the experience was even worse. This is my least favorite piece which sucks because it's Daegal so I'm slated to redo this sometime in the near future. Gotta do our boy justice.
E is for Elyan
Oh, I adored drawing this. Elyan often gets shafted in terms of fandom appreciation so I made sure to choose Elyan for this prompt and to participate in the Elyan fest. Plus, I love a good ghost story and figuring out a way to include the druid spectre was fun. Didn't multitask on this piece because Elyan deserved my full attention.
F is for Freya
Ho boy. This piece. I have such mixed feelings on this drawing. Really really didn't like it after I'd decided it was done and very nearly scrapped the whole thing. I had a vision in my head that I just couldn't render into reality and it frustrated me SO MUCH. Looking back, I like it much better than I did when I first created it.
G is for Gwaine
What can I say, he's pretty when he's cold. I didn't stretch too much with this one -- it's my normal drawing style, I was just trying to find a brush that mimicked the softness of pencil.
H is for Hunith
Another one that didn't stray too far from my comfort zone. I was stupid sick and slammed at work, so a motherly Hunith manifested herself. I blame the bad brush choice on the cold medicine.
I is for Isolde
I woke up and chose violence! Tried to vary my figure drawing style a little in this piece but my brain resisted, resulting in... this. Not mad at it, but not happy with it either. Poor Isolde.
J is for Juggling
Ah, this lovely piece was drawn during a particularly vexing meeting at work. Fun fact, there's another version of this line art that's less about Merlin's stress and more about mine.
K is for Knights of Camelot
Continuing the theme of doodling through bad news and shit meetings. Like I said above, normally meeting doodles aren't complex because I'm concentrating on something else. This one was more involved because I didn't want to concentrate on the meeting. I have a few issues with this from a technical standpoint (perspective, my nemesis) but it's still one of my favorites. Tried some funky coloring technique, didn't hate it.
V is for Vibrant Colors
And here is where we said fuck the rules and started going out of alphabetical order! This one was really fun to do and I loved kicking off Albion Party with this as my first submission. The colors were a challenge (as I hoped they would be) and this is the first time I had to do some color tweaking midway though and after finishing the coloring process. Vibrant Arthur, my beloved. This started as a multitask doodle but took dedicated time to finish.
O is for Old Religion
The concept for this one was buzzing in my head for a bit before a quote-prompt solidified it. I adore the thought of more visible, tangible representations of Merlin as the son of the elements, of "magic itself" -- not just sun-gold eyes, but sea-water hair and sandstone-skin. A complement to the vibrant Arthur portrait.
S is for Sorcerers
When I said I wanted to challenge myself, I wasn't kidding. Ho boy, this was fun but frustrating. I wanted to completely illustrate a gif. So I did. Will I do something like this again? Maybe. A while from now.
M is for Morgause
See above -- same illustrated gif style so at least I was able to reuse some drawings. Poor Morgause ended up looking a little wretched here because I was mentally done with this when I was drawing her. Love the concept of tarot cards + Merlin but others are doing it so I won't continue this series.
Z is for Zzzz
This one was specifically done to test out some custom brushes I made in Krita to make abstract background drawing easier for me. I think they turned out well! Plus who doesn't love bb iridescent Aithusa.
L is for Leon, P is for Percival
Quick, minimal doodles of the boys! Mentally, I was going for a Brady's-style retro ensemble cast TV show credits feel. Not mad at it! Some boys look closer to their actors than others (I think my brain broke drawing Percy, my apologies to Tom Hopper).
T is for Tristan
It wasn't until after I posted this that I realized there was more than one Tristan in Merlin. Could have drawn Isolde's bf but I drew Ygraine's dumb jock undead brother instead. Had some fun with dark greys and blacks here regardless.
Q is for Queen Annis
Best royal in Albion, bar none. I tried a different coloring technique here and I kinda like it! may make it my go-to but we'll see. Old habits are hard to break. Also: our queen deserved more badass clothes.
X is for Arthur X Merlin
Oh, be still my shipper heart. Doodled and colored during a meeting. I had hoped to spend more time on it outside of multitasking but alas, work is a bitch. This one is slated for a rework sometime in the future; I adore the concept too much to let it go without creating another version of this that isn't an utter mess.
U is for Uther's Ward
And here's my attempt at forgoing line art. Not fun, do not like.
Y is for Young Warlock
Channeled some pain into this one. Those are the dead eyes of someone who had been told that he'd succeeded when his friend died. That the destiny he'd been expecting to carry on his shoulders into old age was done and dusted before he turned 30. Grief plus the existential dread of the aimless immortal. Oof. One of my favs.
N is for Nimueh, R is for Rising Sun, W is for Will
And we end on this sorry offering. I was away from home for a while without my tablet and I just got tired of waiting. So, pen doodles at the airport. This was a challenge in its own right because 1. pen only and 2. I wasn't able to pull Netflix up for a reference on the fly. Which is why Will's face is obscured and Nimueh looks.... not like Nimueh lol.
In summary: this was a goddamn joy to do. I finished 26 letter prompts in approximately 21 weeks, which exceeded my own unspoken goal of filling one letter per week. I found a good, happy corner of the Merlin fandom after a years-long hiatus away from being a fandom creator. If you did make it this far with me, thanks for reading my inane comments and giving this little project even a moment of your time -- I'm so grateful.

This is a little art dump of everything I made on my very first day of owning a drawing tablet, in order of creation, plus a bonus
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the first one, I opened up krita and instantly saw all the different kind of brushes and got super excited and carried away XD no thoughts, just fun experimentation
Second one is where the thoughts begin. I was still adjusting to the artwork happening in front of my face instead of under my hands, so I started off simple and silly. I tried to focus more on the Feel than anything else
By the third one I was getting antsy and wanted to get back to my usual quality of work, so I tried to sketch my Generic Girl Character tm. Immediately realised this was extremely heccin Difficult. I would not learn what a stabiliser was for another month or so. I also realised that the number of brushes was truly overwhelming, and now that I wasn’t limited by colored pencils I had no idea what kind of Quality I wanted my art to have
The only thing I remember about the fourth one was being frustrated that I could only draw a face, and whenever I tried to get to the body the lines just wouldn’t go where I wanted them to. It was physically impossible for my brain and hands to do so much as general arm line. I assume this is the one where I discovered the color wheel and unlocked my obsession with the bubble brush. Other than that... idk what was going on XD
For the fifth one I accidentally discovered layers and didn’t know what to do with that information. I also realised that the fill-in-tool was nothing like the MS paint version of my youth. We remain bitter enemies to this day. At this point I was super overwhelmed and frustrated, so I drew my little calm-down guy and his bee friend.
Piece number 6 is the culmination of all my learnings; brushes I liked, what face and hair I could draw, multiple options from the color wheel, and accepting I wasn’t at a skill level to draw bodies yet. The color wheel was too much Choice for me so I just threw on Whatever. It was last time I would ever try using the fill-in tool. I named this guy Jeffery. I don’t think that’s how you spell it XD
Number 7 was me trying to sort out how layers worked. It took me a weirdly long time to work out how to move layers around and which ones went on top of the other. My adhd brain still refused to focus on any tutorials, but I worked it out in the end.
The fish-like guy is titled “I don’t know what this is.” I have no memory of drawing this. I only know that I’d had the tablet for a while by that point. Send help.

I must’ve been a really fast learner, because I did these that same day and I’m still proud of them

Aight fuck it, I got sum things to say. Most of it is anecdotal but here we go
Things I wish I could tell to my younger self about art(and also for young/new artists who may see this)
Getting started:
- Starting art with any medium is going to be challenging, but a little inspiration goes a long way. You wanna draw your favorite tv show character? Maybe an Oc idea? A slice of cake? Doesn’t matter, make that shit your muse and go for it.
- I’m a digital artist through and through, using clip studio and a Wacom tablet. Do you need these things to start? Nope, not at all. I started with a mouse and MS paint. You can do some impressive stuff with just those two things.
- Expectations vs reality is important. Your mental style will be different from your ‘real’ style, and that’s ok! You won’t be perfect when you first start, but don’t let it discourage you.
- Let yourself have fun
Learning/growing your style:
- At first it’ll feel like you’re only a mishmash of styles from artists you like, but soon enough your own style will emerge.
- Tracing is a good skill, but if you don’t want to trace, you can mimic. Watch speedpaints, animations, look at other artists’ work; then replicate that. Your own style will shine through and things you couldn’t draw yesterday can become much easier. I use this myself, personally it’s been super helpful.
- Same face Syndrome is definitely a bit of a roadblock to handle. Instead of throwing yourself in the deep end with a million different face shapes, tweak the smaller things. eyes, hair, even irises/pupils can help two characters stand out.
- Shapes are good, but vague shapes are better. Basically: sketch at least twice. Construct(the foundation of everything), clean up(jotting down the finer details), and then any additions that stand out. It’ll take awhile, but it will help you in the long run.
- Fuck around, combine random things. Mess with colors, mess with proportions. Draw a snake with a chicken head and cat feet, who cares? Get a feel for straight lines, curvy lines, jarring and chaotic lines. Let yourself have fun: electric boogaloo.
Criticism and Feedback:
- to preface this: the main person you draw for is yourself. People liking/relogging is a secondary source of motivation. relying on others to give you the energy to draw is not sustainable, so please, please do what you want to do.
- Receiving critique is not an easy thing to do, especially if you’re on the younger end of the artist spectrum. It’ll feel weird and it might hurt; that’s ok, it’s a sign you care. Be prepared for people to ask if they can critique and for people to not ask and give it anyway.
- Adding to that, there’s probably a knee-jerk reaction to defend your work from criticism. Before you respond to said feedback, take a second to remember that it’s not a personal attack, and that the commenter is simply trying to help.
- “This sucks lol” is not valid critique and can be entirely ignored/deleted.
- You are not contractually obligated to take the criticism! It’s up to you if you’ll use the tips given. You can try them out, and if they don’t work, that’s fine too.
- Remember that you are always improving.
Other tidbits I can’t categorize:
- CHERISH YOUR OLD WORK! please, please keep that shit close to your heart. It’s easy to look at your old art and go “haha cringe”, I’ve done that too, but it’s so important to remember where you started so you can be proud of how far you’ve come! A lot of artists struggle to recognize when they’ve improved, so taking a gander and your old DeviantArt gallery is beneficial.
- for fucks sake please watermark your art. Be it your initials, online name or an icon unique to you. it doesn’t have to take up the whole canvas, but it’s better if it’s somewhere harder for people to erase. Watermarks can protect your art from being stolen online.
- elaborating on the first tidbit: it’s ok to look at your art and be proud of it! Sometimes it can feel like calling your own art good is a sin and you’re a self-absorbed asshole for saying as much, but you have every right to be happy with what you’ve made.
- You don’t have to finish every project you start, Sometimes sketching just to sketch is better than spending hours on a single piece. doodle to your heart’s content.
- Artblock is inevitable, and it’ll suck. But, there’s always that creative spike at the end of the inspiration drought, just embrace the break and you’ll get back to drawing when you’re ready.
- And never work for exposure.
 Godspeed younglings, go have fun

15. Red
It was another busy morning in the office. (Y/N) needed to finish the illustration for her own work as well as the final editing for Jungwoo’s panels so she did stay the night in the office. With a cup of coffee next to her computer set, she decided to finish the colors for Jungwoo’s illustration. “You’re early,” Jungwoo announced when he sat next to her, checking the final touches of the illustration. “No morning sex today?” And she giggled at that.
The guy pulled out a box from his backpack. “Can you try this out?” He asked that surprised her. What is this? But her eyes widened in surprise when she saw what is inside. A bullet vibrator. She was about to react when he explained, “You’re the only one I know who has a vagina. Please, I needed a review for this.” She rolled her eyes at that. “You can decline if you want.”
Well, come to think of it Jungwoo isn’t harming her in any way. It’s just a small vibrator, she had used bigger ones of this. Besides, she’s curious about his product. Why did Jungwoo have this? Doesn’t it cost a lot of money? When she went out of the bathroom, the three were huddling around Jaehyun. What’s happening?
Ten handed a box to her. “It must be nice to have a CEO boyfriend.” He said in a cheery voice. Y/N only realized what he meant when she opened the box that has a brand new drawing tablet inside. From Nakamoto Corporation. But he’s not her boyfriend. She glanced around seeing people changing their computer set. Is this Yuta’s work once again?
“Y/N!” Jaehyun called then handed her a box smaller than the one she’s holding. “Don’t be bothered. He did this as a form of business.” He explained. “That.” He gestured at the smaller box. “Is a congratulatory gift from me.” A gift from Jaehyun? “That guy is madly crazy about you.”
A piece of paper was inside the box of a brand new cellphone. A letter, from Yuta, and it started with the words ‘My daughter’ that made her laugh. ‘Stay away from Jaehyun, please. He bought this, not me so don’t be mad. I put my number in so message me if you receive this. Otou-chan.’ Opening the phone, a message can be seen ‘Smile, my daughter.’ And to her humor, his number is saved as Otou-chan instead of Yuta. He really thought this through.
--
Yuta was just done with a meeting involving clients from Hongkong when he checked his phone. A message can be seen asking him if he wanted to go out for lunch. Why did Jaehyun send him this message? They just met earlier. Did he miss him already? And why isn’t Y/N messaging him? Since his lunch is free, he decided to go to the restaurant that Jaehyun messaged him.
The whole team of illustrators is there and he lightly glanced at the girl who was looking at the menu. “The team wanted to thank you for the gadgets.” Jaehyun started offering him a place to seat, far from her. “This is Johnny Seo. He is the editor in chief of the publishing.” He read his name before. The email (Y/N) sent back then. So this guy is the one who rejected (Y/N)’s work. “This is Ten. He’s the assistant editor.” The younger introduced him and he remembered him as the guy who said that she’s busy from way before.
“Jungwoo and (Y/N).” he continued for Jaehyun that made the girl look at him. “I’m Yuta Nakamoto.”
“We know.” Ten claimed then stared at the only girl who was next to him. “(Y/N)’s boyfriend.”
But the girl just rolled her eyes at that, making Yuta hide a smirk by drinking water. She really had this habit of rolling her eyes. And why does that simple action rile him up? “I’m her model.” He stated that made her surprised. Jungwoo giggled which made her glare.
The waiter came and asked for their orders. Johnny even ordered for (Y/N),  scolding her that she hasn’t eaten all day. Yuta even asked the waiter if they’re selling steamed buns, even asking if they can make one for her which she totally opposed. Ten only smiled at that. He’s not a boyfriend yet he’s acting like one and Jungwoo might have caught it.
A buzz can be felt inside (Y/N)’s core. She had totally forgotten about the vibrator that Jungwoo asked her to put on. Why is he turning it on right now? The vibrations grew unbearable that she lightly kicked him from across the table. But he just smiled while eating his food, heightening the vibrations. (Y/N) cursed and Johnny gave her a side glare. “Are you alright, (Y/N)?” Jaehyun asked and she realized that everyone’s eyes were on her. She bit her lip then nodded.
Yuta was glaring at her and she became self-conscious. Does he know? The vibrations were too much that she can almost taste iron on her lips to prevent herself from moaning. She stood up, almost immediately, that all eyes were on her. “Excuse me.” And she walked fast to the ladies' bathroom. Once inside the stall at the end, she released her moans. She was sure that there was no one inside when she went inside.
She wanted to remove the vibrating toy inside her but she’s so near that she even pushed it closer to her g-spot using her finger. Fuck, the vibrator is so good. Where did Jungwoo get this? She started arching her hips at the pleasure, mewls escaping her mouth. Someone entered the bathroom and she covered her mouth to avoid making too much noise. If possible, the vibrations got higher that her body was already squirming in orgasm.
The girl smiled while watching the small device kept on vibrating. How can something this small give her that intense orgasm? And at a public place? But the smile was changed to surprise when she opened the door to the cubicle and Yuta was leaning by the sink, glaring at her. He did know. The guy held out his hand and she noticed the pink remote on his other hand. “Give me that motherfucker.” He ordered in a dominating voice that made her gulp. She gave the vibrating toy to him, shakingly. “I thought you’re sick so I checked on you and Jungwoo handed me this.” He showed the remote and quickly turned off the vibrator before putting it in his pocket. “The things I really want to do to you.” He muttered more to himself while shaking his head, exiting the comfort room. The two ladies who went inside just eyed Yuta then the girl who was blushing hard.
Jungwoo was laughing when she returned to the table that made her glare. A plate of fish-shaped steam buns was in front of her and she lightly glanced at Yuta who was talking to Jaehyun. She caught sight of Johnny smiling at her as if she caught her doing something illegal. The team thanked Yuta since he paid for the food. “Are you staying over tonight?” he asked the girl and she shook her head, claiming that she had to go home and get some things. “Message me.”
“You can call me.”
“I don’t know your number.” He said with a grin. “So I’ll wait for you.”
Johnny who was standing behind the guy just smiled at (Y/N). When the CEO left, Ten was easing the girl about how lovey-dovey they are. “Did something happen inside the restroom?” Jungwoo asked and she lightly punched his arm.
--
Even if she wanted to go to Yuta’s place that night, the landlady called the office and informed her that her father has been drinking all the time once again. How can she run away from him if she’s the only family left? It was 6 PM but she’s still at work, Jungwoo and Ten both went home and there’s Johnny left. “Do you want me to drive you home?” he asked and she shook her head, finishing her illustrations. To her surprise, Johnny sat next to her. “About you and Yuta…” he started.
(Y/N) stared at him. Johnny is like the big brother she wished she had so this conversation isn’t a surprise to her. “Bungeoppang?” he asked that made her stop what she was doing. “I found out about it one year after we became friends.”
“For starters, Yuta just know that I like bungeoppang. He hasn’t heard the full story yet.” Johnny smiled, that teasing smile. “He’s nice and he takes care of me. But Johnny, he’s not someone that I can reach.”
“Honestly, you already did.” He explained. “You just refused to hold on to him.” Well, that’s one way to put it. “Seriously (Y/N), he’s already putting on effort for you. You think he’s just helping the publishing by donating these?” he asked referring to the computer sets. “He’s actually helping you achieve your dreams, (Y/N). And that, my friend, is one guy that you should hold on to.”
The girl sighed, leaning her back against the chair. “Will it be alright? Me and Yuta?” she asked then bit her lip. “I don’t have anything to give him.” He ruffled her hair as he stood up, smiling at the girl. She’s still the same girl as before. “I’m scared that he’ll end up leaving me once again.”
“(Y/N)…” Johnny called, looming above her. “There’s something that you can give Yuta.” A questioning gaze was all she could do and he smiled. “Your trust. Open up to him. Your pain, your happiness. I’m sure he’ll do the right thing for you.” A smile escaped her lips. Maybe she’ll do that.

Nathaniel had noticed lately that a bunch of the art Lila claimed as hers were in wildly different styles. At first he tried to rationalize it, maybe she’d been branching out style-wise? Maybe she hadn’t actually found her own style yet?
It got much harder to rationalize away the differences when he caught a glimpse of an oddly colored part of a background. Only a shade or two off, but it was there. And it looked like it might cover a signature? Now that he was thinking about it, only a few of the art Lila had shown the class had a signature.
It was harder, but it was Lila. They’d talked a lot about how horrible it felt to have your hard work stolen like that. She wouldn’t steal from anyone. Right?
Nathaniel shuddered, he hated the idea that someone would try claiming his work as their own. He made extra sure that his signature was on the picture, and would be hard to cover when he posted it to insta. H was proud of it, and no art thief would stop that.
And he was right to be proud. It quickly became one of his most popular posts. So when he got to school on Monday. and saw Lila showing off his work, he snapped at her.
Of course, most of the class took Lila’s side. But when Alix and Marinette got there, and saw what was happening, they took his side immediately.
“How can you prove it’s yours?” Kim asked.
A chorus of agreement swept through the room. Nathaniel took a deep breath, his hands were trembling, and pulled out his sketchbook. Flipping to the right page, he stalked over to Lila’s desk, and slammed the book down in front of her.
There it was. The original sketch. Clear in view of the whole class. Nathaniel’s work.
Lila peeked out from behind her fingers when the class went deathly silent, and Alya pulled away from her.
“How many others?” Nathaniel asked quietly, watching the panic appear, and get locked behind Lila’s mask. “Were any of them actually yours?”
lenoreofraven’s entry:
“How could you say that? How could you do this? After all the conversations we had about art theft.” Lila exclaimed back, trying to extinguish the doubt in the eyes of  those that watched her. Not everyone was convinced. Alix stood by Nathaniel, trying her best to offer support. While Adrien gently touched Marinette’s wrist, as if signaling for her to stay back.
It was obvious Lila couldn’t win these artists over, artists who have had their work stolen. Instead her eyes settled to Ivan, Rose and Juleka. After the situation with XY, they were fuming the moment the accusation touched the air. It was their weak spot really. Took any logic they may have away.
“You said you wanted me to do a quick sketch, and lent me your notebook as I had left my tablet at home. Then you do this to me?”
“Lila just stop it.” Marinette growled, but she wasn’t the audience for this little stunt. Lila could claim they were in France, and Marinette would check google maps to make sure they hadn’t moved. This was about everyone.
Even Adrien, who glared at her from Marinette’s side, was part of the intended audience. As he could make, or break, her reputation if he so desired. Considering how Ivan responded to the demand. perhaps, just possibly, she could deal with two birds at once. Use this as Marinette was an expert on plagiarism, and if she picked the wrong side it could be ruin for her.
“Stop what? Trying to take credit for my own work? I know you don’t like me much, but do you honestly condone this? I thought you would be the first person to support the victim of art theft.” Marinette just looked back with a blank stare, not even humoring the accusation with a response.
All eyes were still on Lila and Nathaniel. Not ideal, but it could be managed. It was the wrong time for crocodile tears. Her eyes scanned the work again. When she had erased the signature from the upload she had been careful, after this she would start adding her own sign. For now she just needed proof. This was a draft, not the official upload. She just needed something.
“Maybe I have been experimenting with styles a bit, but this is mine. See, there’s an L, as in Lila. I made it subtle so it couldn’t be erased, like how you stitch your name into designs in clever ways, Marinette.” Lila explained, pointing at something that could be an L, but was just as likely to be miscellaneous lines. Alya, Sabrina, and a few others that were still on the fence squinted at it, tilting their heads to try and see it. The members of Kitty Section instantly took it as fact. Max, Alix and a few doubters all shook their heads, realizing the stretch.
Nathaniel glared back at her.
“That’s not an L. That’s just lines. I don’t erase signatures like some people because if you look on my insta it clearly had my signature, matches all my other work, and is clearly mine!”
“Then you must have added it. We all know how disrespectful you can be of other’s art.” Lila remarked, as she flinched away from Nathaniel. She made it as dramatic as possible, acting as if the artist would hit her.
“LILA!” Snapped Alix, not sparing any notice for Ivan, who now stood as a shield for Lila.
Lila simply sighed with a shake of her head, moving slightly to the side so she could be seen, but Ivan still acted like a bodyguard.
“I know Marc didn’t want to mention it, but that couldn’t have been easy to witness. I don’t know what happened, I wasn’t here for it, but I do know you tore apart someone’s journal. I can’t imagine anyone doing that. It’s cruel. Sure you’re friends and have made up, now working on the comic, but doing that to someone’s notebook? I’d rather eat glass than have my precious sketchpads or notebooks damaged in anyway. I’m just saying, someone who does that may be the type of person to disrespect other people’s art.”
My entry:
Nathaniel flinched back, looking at the others in class. Rose and Juleka glared at him while Ivan stood in front of Lila, unmoving.
“How dare you!” Alix started toward Lila only to be held back by Kim. Max frowned at Lila while adjusting his glasses, he looked at the drawing again, and looked between Lila and Nathaniel.
“Don’t you dare talk about something you have no idea about- You Snake!”
Lila smiled her condescending smile at her opposers.
“It’s not my fault he caused an akuma because of his jealousy. I know he was angry with-”
Alix made another lunge for her, Kim had to quickly catch her body from the air before she could attack the other girl.
Marinette was fuming, she was burning with rage. Her face was slowly turning red, before she suddenly took out her phone.
Adrien looked concerned. He could feel the heat coming off of her body. He looked to the windows, and the classroom door, fro any akumas. He knew it needed to be resolved, and fast. Rose and Juleka were yelling in defense of Lila, while Alix was screaming in defense of Nathaniel. Lila was still ‘cowering’ behind Ivan, and Nathaniel looked like he was on the verge of becoming another akuma. Adrien was about to speak up when someone else did.
“Actually-” A voice broke through the yells of the classroom. Alya looked uncomfortable, with Nino standing, just as uncomfortable, next to her.
Lila looked triumphant, she knew Alya would be on her side. She sent a smug look at the oposing group, one that earned a glare from Nathaniel, a growl from Marinette, and a lunge from Alix, again.
Nino stepped forward, his expression placating.
“All we have to do is see where Nathaniel says his signature is, and see if the spot was altered on the photo posted to both accounts.”
The request seemed reasonable, if the nodding heads of the other classmates were anything to go by, if it weren’t all a lie.
Lila started crying her crocodile tears, lip wobbling at the pair closest to the door.
“Y-You don’t believe me?” She sniffed as Rose comforted her, and Juleka glared at them.
“Not at all!” Alya walked up, her hands waving in front of her.
“We’re not accusing anyone.” Nino clarified.
“We’re just comparing the pictures, that’s all!” Alya hastened to add.
Lila didn’t look happy at all, but Rose was already pulling up the picture on Lila’s instagram. Marinette doing the same on her phone of Nathaniel’s instagram.
They both laid out their phones on a desk for everyone to compare. Max was looking at the two closely, as well as his own phone.
“Oh Marinette, that’s a screenshot.” Max pointed out.
Lila smiled through her tears, sure that she could convince the class that she edited the photo for Nathaniel, because he accused her that one time too.
“Oh, my bad” She said in a falsely sweet voice, something was up.
“Here. Oh!” She made it look like she was backing out of her photo gallery, when she just swiped over, and let the class see another piece of art work.
“Hey! That looks like one of Lila’s pictures!” Rose, oh so helpfully, pointed out. And it was, one of the ones she posted to her instagram anyway.
“Oh but that’s from this artist. See? I screenshoted it when they posted it, two weeks ago. See?”
They looked closer, and sure enough the artist posted it two weeks before, They looked at the same picture on Lila’s instagram that she claimed she finished two days prior. With a suspicious bloch where the other artists signature was was on their post.
Max pulled back, pushed his glasses back up, and nodded.
“Yup. That picture is the original, you can see the watermark. And the convenient spot that covered the watermark from the original picture, right there on Lila’s instagram.” Rose and Juleka looked at her, confused. Ivan turned around, looking for answers as well. Before Lila could get a word in Marinette took that moment to completely pounce.
“Oh, but what about these pictures? Do they also have erased watermarks, because they look an awful like the other artists I follow that have had their work stolen from them too.”
Alya and Max descended on the photos like vultures on a carcass, picking apart every screenshot in Marinette’s phone, and every post Lila had made on her instagram with Rose’s phone.
Rose didn’t protest as the hovered over her phone, she looked at Lila with tears in her eyes.
“Is it true? Did-Did you s-steal them?” Juleka wrapped her arm around her shoulder, but gave a hesitant glance to Lila. Ivan looked lost, Mylene currently being out sick, he didn’t know who to side with.
Kim didn’t have to hold Alix back, she stood back on her won. Her arms crossed, and a smug look on her face, she knew Lila had been caught. She gave a smile to Marinette, who gave a thumbs up in return. Nathaniel looked relieved, he also gave Marinette a grateful smile that she returned.
Lila knew she was losing her hold. She looked to Adrien, but he was busy looking (out for akumas) around the room.
She had to play her ace in the hole.
She burst into tears, sobbing.
“I-I’m so sick of this lying disease!”
The others looked at her confused.
Alix snorted.
“Yeah, you are lying, and you are a disease.” Kim elbowed her for that, but he didn’t say anything.
Lila had to move fast.
“I w-was going to take them down. B-But I really do like the pictures. I h-had no idea they had b-been stolen b-by those artists-”
“That doesn’t explain the watermarks!” Alix cut across.
“I didn’t steal them! Someone else did! I-I got permission f-from whoever stole the art f-first. A-and-” She hastened to add when she saw that Alix and Marinette were about to interrupt her.
“A-and I couldn’t help but put that I drew them, because of my lying disease! R-Remember?” Marinette looked enraged, Alix and Nathaniel looked at her in disbelief. Max also looked skeptical.
“L-lying disease?” Rose asked tentatively. Lila nodded.
“Yes! R-Remember? W-When I accidentally got Marinette expelled.” At the memory being brought up, Marinette’s face darkened further, Adrien looked uncomfortable, and Alix and Nathaniel shared a look of realization.
“I didn’t mean to get her expelled! It was my disease! It acts up during times of stress! And with all of the charities I help with, and my disabilities, I get too stressed out and start lying again!” She looked to Alya, who looked like she was almost convinced. Nino was looking to Alya. Rose, Juleka, and Ivam were firmly back on her side again.
She just needed to convince Alya, and the majority would follow, or join Marinette in exile.
“I-I’ve been getting so stressed out lately! And I can’t control the urge when it happens! I am so sorry you guys! I didn’t mean-”
“That still doesn’t explain why you accused Nathaniel of stealing your supposed artwork.” Marinette pointed out.
“Or the fact that you brought up something that you have no idea about and threw it in his face!” Alix added.
Lila schooled her face to guilt.
“I’m sorry that I offended you Nathaniel. I didn’t mean to.” She let a few tears come to the surface of her eyes, but never let them fall.
It was all Juleka and Rose needed to flock to her and comfort her. She looked to Alya, who looked on the verge of joining her. She just needed a little more.
“I can understand what made you want to draw that picture you posted, it looks a lot like mine. You drew inspirations from that, I get that!” Nathaniel looked livid, and Alix was ready to blow.
But Lila only worried about the two that were in front of her that weren’t at her side yet. She needed them to keep her hold of the class.
“I can understand drawing inspiration from what’s around you, Marinette does that all the time no?” Said girl glared at her. Adrien had finally stopped his tour of the room with his eyes, and looked at the group. He glared at Lila, but she could deal with that later. As long as he kept his arm out in front of Marinette, and out of her way, she could deal with him later.
She just needed Alya and Nino.
“I don’t blame you for being inspired! Not at all! I just want an apology for accusing me of stealing.” At the start of the protests from Marinette, Alix and Nathaniel, she looked to Nino and Alya.
“Right Alya? Nino?”
Alya hesitantly nodded. Nino didn’t react one way or the other, Hmm...
“See? It;s alright! We just needed to communicate! Rose cheerfully added.
At that convenient time, Madam Bustier entered the room.
“Alright class! We have a busy day ahead of us! Finish up your chat and get to your seats!”
Lila looked to Nathaniel, an expectant look on her face that made his stomach turn.
Was this how Marinette felt?
Rose, Juleka, and Ivan looked at him expectantly too.
Madam Bustier looked back at the group, waiting. Kim slapped him on the back.
“Hey! It’s resolved now! Just apologize and it’s all good man!”
Alix glared at him, but Nathaniel just sighed.
“I’m... Sorry Lila.”
She smiled her condescending smile once again, that Nathaniel was beginning to realize was the one she always gave to Marinette.
“I accept your apology.”
And everyone started to go back to their seats.
Nathaniel didn’t missed the way Marinette opened her mouth again, but stopped when Adrien touched her arm with his hand. He whispered something to her and shook his head. Alix noticed this too.
She looked angry, and gave him a look of disgust before she subtly tore her arm away from his. He looked sad, but retreated back to his seat anyway. Marinette looked back at Nathaniel and Alix, to see them already looking at her.
She gave them a sad smile and looked to her desk, to see Lila already seated there. She let out a quiet sigh, and made her way to the back of the classroom.
“Hey Marinette?” Nathaniel asked quietly. She looked between him and Alix, who was toeing the floor.
“Do you want to sit in the back with us?” She was about to ask why Alix would sit at the back when she saw her bookbag in her hand.
She smiled at them and nodded. They made their way to the back, not noticing Adrien’s frown of sadness or Lila’s frown of annoyance.
She didn’t like reminding them of her ‘lying disease’. It might give them a reason to not totally believe her, though it was a great skeleton key to get her out of any situation because of her lies.
She turned back around in her seat, plotting her next move for the two new people that joined her exiled list.
Oh well, looks like she’d be adjusting her plans to fit two more.
What she didn’t know, was that there was another person that was beginning to catch on to all of her little lies. He just had to catalog them all on his phone first, before bringing the evidence to light.

Tim with an Artist s/o
word count: 690~
warnings: one slight reference to nsfw
When you first showed Tim your artwork he was absolutely dumbfounded by your talent, asking you questions about your hobby because it intrigued him so much
“How long did this even take you?”
“Is there more?” followed by a shy “...can I see?”
Tim could honestly sit for hours and just look at your sketchbooks, tracing the pencil marks lightly in admiration, he likes pencil sketches the most because he can see the eraser markings, it feels more of an intimate piece of work for him
He’d probably ask you about your inspiration behind certain pieces that he really likes or how you even got into art in the first place
You’ll probably catch Tim staring at a few of your works more than the rest, he’s too shy to ask if he can have it so he opts to memorizing how it looks instead, if you offer him to take it however, his heart will instantly melt
Tim will happily frame one of your artworks in his room or office at Wayne Enterprises just so he can remind himself of you everytime he looks at it
If you drew him??? I think he’d die from how flustered he’d get just from the idea of you viewing him as a muse
If asked he would sit patiently to let you draw him, can't guarantee there won't be a huge blush dusting his cheeks the whole time
With enough pleading, Tim would let you drag him into certain poses so you can have a human body reference right at your fingertips
Maybe even a nice nude modeling moment 👀 he’d be super nervous and flustered so be sure to shower him in affection if you choose to make him your model, a couple kisses will do the trick 👀
“Can you please just sit here for a couple minutes?” “Like this?” “Perfect”
“Baby I’m getting a cramp in my foot.” “Just a little bit longer, I promise.”
Specifically helpful for hand references because Tim has such pretty hands, he particularly enjoys when you hold his hand while you look at it as a reference, keeps him entertained
Makeup artist? Would happily wear your makeup around the manor for a bit, especially if you just want to test out new color combos, he’s super calm and may even fall asleep on you because of how calming the feather light touches are on his face he looks super hot with black eyeliner on his waterline
For your birthday he’d definitely want to surprise you with art supplies so  begrudgingly calling Damian for advice on what to get you would be his first choice
“...what’s a filbert...?” “Tch, you’re hopeless.”
“I think they likes pastels.” “Which kind?” “....ʷʰᵃᵗ ᵈᵒ ʸᵒᵘ ᵐᵉᵃⁿ ʷʰᶦᶜʰ ᵏᶦⁿᵈ....”
“I saw those expensive markers online, do you think they’d like them?” “...which kind, Drake.”
Point being, Tim doesn't know much about the art world that isn't photography but he is more than willing to learn about it
Cue long conversations where he genuinely wants to know the different mediums, sometimes he takes you to an art store just to see what you get for some gift ideas
Speaking of gifts, he won't hesitate for a second to spend hundreds of dollars on art supplies for you, he has the money and wouldn’t think twice about it if it makes you happy
Might even let you go on a shopping frenzy to which he would happily be dragged along by you
Tim would notice when your sketchbook starts to near its end and solve the problem quickly by handing you a new one that matches your old one or one that had caught your eye
Will 100% want to try pottery just to recreate the iconic Ghost scene with you, you teaching Tim of course, feeling you so intimately close to him would warm his heart and absolutely make his day
He loves digital art a lot, he could honestly just sit and watch you work for awhile, resting his head on your shoulder and inevitably falling asleep to the soft sounds of the tablet screen

😳👉👈..its uh. lobotomy anon-and I have one (1) question.
How the heck can you do clean line art?? I've tried but the attempts don't look good
Mhhh- dunno how much I can help with that ‘cause, to be honest, my lineart is rarely actually clean sdhgsdsd. (most good lineart in my art is like an illusion caused by my editing/coloring ahah.) What I can say is that the pressure (especially for line width)  and the stabilizer change the art game A LOT-
Tumblr media
(Note: I gave the same care and the same time to each of them- also used the same sketch.) The stabilizer is especially a life saver if you want smooth/clean lineart but don’t have the firmest hand (Like me- who got it all the way up to S-7 on my SAI :,>). So don’t ignore it like I did for my first hellish year of drawing-tablet art;;; Those two aside- Personally, I tackle the lineart in three different ways (that sometimes overlay with each other). 1- Actual lineart: I just finish the sketch and after days of pondering over it I force myself to line it. With this one you just gotta be decise with your lines, this means no jagged lines trying to follow the sketch underneath or very slow hand motions, just one decise stroke. Undo and repeat until success-! Example -of me suffering and deciding to color instead of continuing the lineart sdhdhsd:
Tumblr media
(*Sigh* Some sacrifices must be made to appease the lineart gods- so sometimes parts of the sketch will just be a guide of where the thing is supposed to be instead of a base to line;;)  2- Clean sketch: You keep on searching and cleaning the sketch, layers over layers, until it looks like a “messy lineart”. Then you carefully clean them lines! Example of what I mean by “messy lineart”:
Tumblr media
(The only “sketch” worthy parts still visible are in the ribbon and in the arm- the rest is quite easy to clean. The masks and eyes, for example, are practically ready to be used in an actual “clean lineart”- just need to clean the particles). 3- Painted over: I haphazardly make the lineart and then I take my time painting over the mistakes or unclean lines- usually at the end of the piece.  Example: ( a bit messier than my usual, but still shows it)
Tumblr media
(Some pieces look a bit weird ‘cause I had to remove the blood layer to show it better- but you can see what I mean if you look at the fingers and nails in the foreground, oh and also at the eye-!)
What these three “methods” have in common is a lot of trial to see what sticks and/or what is the most comfortable option ouo (there are days when I’m all about that pure lineart, while others I just want to chill and slowly clean or paint over a sketch.) There isn’t really a unique way in which you can do clean lineart- I mean, from what I see from your art.. maybe the “painting over” one might work for you! Because I can see that in many places there are clean lines (like the teeth in that first post- heck those are looking hella clean and precise!)- so I think you struggle more with the consistency of that precision more than the lineart itself, and since you also seem to have a painterly style for shading- I think that painting over the lines to clean them could do for you-! It also works with pieces with a simpler style btw.
These are just how I see it myself, can’t really say much else since I dunno what exactly makes you think your attempts don’t look good so-;;; hope this is in some way helpful or at least understandable?

2021 Traditional Remake - 🐶👑⭐️Wanda’s Dog Life Begins
Here's my note before we can get started....
(DON'T YOU EVER COPY MY WORK, CHARACTERS, AND STUFF IF ONE OF YOU ARE IMPOSTERS WHO HAD HABITS OF PLAGIARISM! I WILL BLOCK YOU FROM MY BLOG IF I SEE YOUR POST WITH MY ORIGINAL WORK BEING EDITED ALL OVER! I'LL EVEN SHARE IT ONTO MY BLOG SO IF EVERYONE WILL SEE THAT YOU TRYING TO COPY MY THINGS FOR NO GOOD REASON WHATSOEVER! That will be all....I mean it.)
Hey guys! I’m here to bring you my lastest art post exclusive to my Tumblr blog before this month of August (aka the last month of Summer) coming to an end. Once again though that I’m back with this related “Wanda in Sparky’s Body” post; like I can’t help myself after checking the “Country Clubbed” episode since years ago. ☺️ However, thought I wanted to bring this as a remake from my original August. 31st, 2020 entry about what if her dog life continues. Ya know, some kind of my doodle digital art about her. ^^* Link Here
There is one missing from my original entry is that I forgot to put her wings during my art progress and after finishing it a year ago; even though I completely forgot to added to her wings by mistake. So sorry about from my errors and I wanted to fixed it by saving a remake I made from the beginning of August 13th; the same day where I brought my second related “Jellystone!” artwork through my DeviantArt page. Link Here #2
However, it's a different remake instead of doing in digital edited again like I did from last time. Instead, I did in traditional way after using some pencils, sharpener, and color pencils for good old fashioned drawing. It does came out good at the end; especially I added to her wings this time as of fixing. Nice! 🙂👍🏼 I do have one more new addition to this remake is when she’s on sniffing stuff for clues or someone’s cooking up some delicious meals. I got inspiration from the episode screenshot I took from “Weirdos on a Train” in which showing Sparky sniffing stuff as well. Just hoping that I can change this with Wanda and looks cute as expected to be. ☺️
Tumblr media
Though I got it done on a big piece of paper, I just needed time to take pictures without any shades that blocks me from doing good quality stuff; even I'm in my room or entire house. Thankfully that I have it while opening my window curtains to let the sun shine on my drawing brighter. I'm hoping I can get my own scanner to scan my artworks just as easily than taking pics on my traditional drawings because of shading problems. Since I only had my tablets though, I would have to check out some other scanners if it works on tablets as much for computers. Too bad I didn't my own computer or my laptop anytime soon. Anyways, hope you'll enjoy this last art post for August 2021 and for me when my September 2021 plans come to place.
