For the Tav ask game: 20, 23, and 24 (will always take any opportunity to learn more about Esper >:3)
~ @bardic-perdita
and of course i will take any opportunity to talk about esper!! thank u!!!!
20. What is their relationship to touch? Do they shy away from it? Do they need it to feel present?
esper's relationship to touch is complicated! they crave it just as much as any person does, and they're horribly touch starved, but they struggle to get physically close to living beings without feeling the itch of the urge telling them to kill. they love affection, it just takes them a bit to warm up to it.
pre-tadpole, they were afraid to defy what they knew to be the direction of bhaal, so they just never got close to anyone they weren't actively killing, and when they were occasionally overcome with the animal need for affection, they would do things like kill with their bare hands or snuggle up to corpses in the temple repository. post-tadpole, though, they work through their initial hesitation to touch (the urge still craves violence, but esper is providing enough resistance through the power of mindfulness that it's not overpowering, beyond the initial kneejerk anxiety that they feel because What If I Can't Stop Myself) in small doses until they're comfortable enough with it that they're constantly all over people. it helps that most of the physical contact they have to start with is with astarion -- since he doesn't have the same life signs as a living person, esper doesn't feel the same itch to make the life signs stop. really not beating the necrophilia allegations there, esper.
23. How does your Tav act in situations of stress? In moments of peace?
esper is at their best in situations of stress just because their life thus far has been nothing but operating at perfectionist capacity under constant stress. it feels the most normal to them. depends on the stressor too, though -- they're very goal-oriented, so as long as they have a clear Thing to aim at they're in their element, but in a situation where they really don't know what to do and nobody else is taking charge i think esper would just start biting people.
the other side of this is that esper never ever relaxes, lmao. they fill their downtime with tasks so they don't have to sit still with their thoughts for any extended periods. one of their classic downtime activities is playing their lyre in resonance with the sounds in their surroundings as a way of keeping watch using magic, but if they're not doing that you're just as likely to find esper working themself into a migraine trying to puzzle out the pieces or their memories or practicing their swordsmanship. they don't like sleeping either, since it brings nightmares and possibly murders. if esper weren't literally an unkillable demigod they would be collapsing from exhaustion regularly, but they are one, so they see nothing wrong with the way they currently do things.
24. What does your Tav consider to be their own biggest character flaw?
i mean, the uncontrollable murder urge is a big one. it's not the murder that bothers them as much as the lack of control that bothers them, but that's also the easy answer, so how about another one? have a list actually, esper is very self-critical.
- lethal perfectionism
- judgemental. they have high standards for everyone else too
- poor hygiene and self-care, just does not know how to do all that and doesn't think it's worth the effort (because they hate themself)
- moral compass is entirely ungrounded, they're down for all kinds of unethical or illegal shit as long as people won't get mad. this means if they can get away with doing something objectively evil they'll do it if they think it's fun
- very strongly motivated by approval and praise. will do some dark shit for you if they like you and want you to like them
- also in that vein, very private with information that probably matters to the party until the last possible minute, such as their urges, because they're ashamed and afraid of the lack of control
- will drive themself into the ground with how hard they work themself and how little they rest
they know all of these things. the only redeeming quality to how ruthlessly they judge and incisively roast everyone around them is the fact that they will, at the drop of a hat, do the same thing to themself. but they also only just started having a personality recently so they're open to being nicer to people if it means people will like them more. which it does. part of the reason they started experimenting with being a good person (and discovered it was kind of nice and gratifying and rewarding so they decided to do it more) was to impress wyll and karlach. esper has the moral backbone of a pudding cup but they are ride or die for competent people who are genuinely nice to them.
but all that said they would probably say the murder urge and lack of physical autonomy is their biggest flaw until you specified a personality flaw, at which point they would present you with the list above (signed and notarized).

i know im sending u tons of these but ELLIE
Oh boy here we go
First impression
I actually didn’t know anything about TLoU before I played it except for it being a zombie game. Since zombies have always been a super special interest for me, I had to play it. So actually playing it was like being smacked in the face with emotions.
But I didn’t even know about the existence of Ellie, so my first time seeing her was when Joel meets her. I thought she seemed cool, but a little abrasive. She did make me laugh though.
Impression now
Oh god where do I even start.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say Ellie helped me become who I am today. I related to her in so many ways. Not just in the way she's so nerdy, but also in how she treats others. She was just a kid who was let down by the world around her, yet she still wants to do what she thinks is best for everyone. She's sentimental, holding onto keepsakes from the people she's lost. She can have a bad attitude sometimes, but is just a complete sweetheart. She goes through so much, and even when Joel gives her the option to just go back home, she decides to keep going.
Ellie came into my life when I needed a role model. The way she had gone through so much, but didn't let it break her soul, the way she always found a way to "endure and survive", meant so much to me at the time, and even now. She also helped me accept the fact that I wasn't straight. Seeing a character who I already admired so much, kissing another girl made me just break down crying.
When they said that Ellie was going to be the main character of the second game, I cried again. I think the second game just really expands on the reasons I loved her in the first one. She still tries to do what she thinks is best. It's not always the right thing, and sometimes it's very much the wrong thing. But she has so much guilt over Joel, yet still loves him so much she's willing to do whatever it takes to give him the justice she thinks she deserves, even if she knows it's not at all what he would want her to do. (There's so much more to her thoughts and actions in the sequel of course, but I feel like this is one of the most important ones.) It's just like the first game where she's willing to go to any ends to do what she thinks is right, no matter how much it may hurt her in the process.
I think in the end she has realized that her life means more than just being the cure. Her life matters just because she’s alive, is loved, and loves others, and that message means a lot to me, and I’m sure to many others, too.
I think Ellie is such a wonderful character, and one of the most well written characters I've ever seen in any media. She really changed my life, and because of that she is my favorite character ever.
Favorite moment
HOW am I supposed to choose just one.
Does the entire winter section count? It shows much she loves Joel, and how strong she has become by that point, and how determined she is to survive. She sees just how truly awful some people in the world can be, and despite it she still wants to do whatever she can for the cure.
It’s our first look into what would become a major theme of the second game. While David’s town is an enemy to Joel and Ellie, and we as players hate them, they were doing what they thought was best to survive. Cannibalism isn’t right by our standards, but that’s because we haven’t been pushed to that point. But would we be willing to turn to it if we were pushed that far? Is it more acceptable to kill innocent people to feed a whole community that’s depending on you, or is it more acceptable to just let all of those innocent lives that are depending on you die?
I think we can all agree on one thing though. David is a piece of shit and deserved to be chopped up into teeny pieces.
Idea for a story
I have many ideas. But I'll go with where I think her story can go from here, AKA my TLoU3 idea.
The story starts 12 or so years later. Putting JJ around 13. Dina, Ellie and Abby 32-33. Lev around 25. Tommy and Maria probably late 50s-early 60s
Ellie is back in Jackson. She works her ass off doing whatever manual labor she can because all she wants to do is just work herself into exhaustion. She's dealt with her trauma and she’s in a better place mentally now. Now her reasons for shutting everything out is that she’s too scared to try and really reconnect. She wants companionship but is afraid of the pain of losing it all again.
The exception is when she has JJ. He is still the light of her life. She takes him hunting and camping and plays video games with him and they geek out over comics. She has taught him to draw. She wants to teach him guitar like she promised, but hasn’t been able to yet.
The only time she sets foot outside of Jackson is with JJ.
Dina is of course doing something that uses her skills. Maybe the lead electrician at the dam. They've kept JJ very innocent. Obviously he knows of the infected, and has seen his moms kill them before, but he doesn’t know just how bad it really is, he’s never seen another human die.
Her and Ellie are amicable. They are happy to be co parenting jj but there's nothing between them (for now).
Maria holds a lot of guilt. Over sending Joel and Tommy out that day, over not giving Ellie and Dina help in Seattle, which got Jesse killed, over letting Tommy get as bad as he did after Seattle. She blames herself for the way Ellie is. She tries to spend time with Ellie, but Ellie is very elusive when she wants to be. She adores JJ though. That's her little great nephew. His auntie is the leader of the whole town and he uses that to his advantage every chance he gets. And she lets him.
Tommy has a little guilt. He doesn’t know Abby is alive, Ellie only ever told him she “finished things” and didn’t talk to him much after that. But he sees how she is a complete mess and lost her fingers. He knows that guitar was special for Ellie, plus any kind of disability is a huge disadvantage in their world. Dina doesn’t let JJ near him. JJ doesn't understand why and no one will tell him
Tommy and Maria never worked out their differences and have stayed separated, partly because of their guilt toward what happened with Ellie. They cared about her like she was their own and they both let her down
Jackson is now huge. They’ve made contact with other settlements, and have trade routes. But Maria is getting older and the town is getting too much for her to run on her own. Tommy is getting up there in age as well, and despite his injuries he still does patrols. But alone. He’s not actively trying to get killed, but he isn’t always as careful as he knows he should be.
Story starts out and you're playing as Tommy on patrol. He gets ambushed by a small group of people. And lo and behold Abby (and Lev) is there. Tommy is shocked when he finds out who it is, and he asks if she came to finish the job she started. She says no they tracked him since he left the town and were waiting to get him alone because she has news for him. The fireflies have rebuilt stronger than ever and now they’re back out for the cure and are coming for Ellie, because she is the only known source, but also as a form of revenge for what Joel did all those years ago, destroying what the Fireflies once were. They were able to get there first because they only brought a few people and set out before the main squad. Tommy asks why he should believe her, and she says that Ellie saved her life years ago and it's the least she could do to pay her back. (just like. Assume that there was enough info stored with the fireflies that Abby could work out who Ellie is). To keep Tommy from attacking or following him, they knock him out and untie him then leave.
Control switches back to Ellie who is doing her chores around town. You get to nail fences, chop wood, and carry hay bales. Fun. Later that night, as Ellie is getting home, standing on her porch, Tommy rolls up and confronts Ellie about Abby being alive. They get into a huge fight and Ellie tells Tommy that he fucked up her life. It's his fault she lost Dina. His fault she only gets to see jj when Dina allows it, his fault Jesse was killed. And its his fucking fault Joel died.
He storms off. But then Ellie notices J standing on the street coming to stay the night. She had forgotten this was her night with him. He’d been told his whole life that moms had a peaceful break up, and that dad and grandpa Joel died being heroes, but now he’s upset about what he's heard so he runs back home to Dina.
That night Ellie is woken up by fighting in Jackson. She runs out to try and find what's going on. All she can get is that fireflies are attacking. She eventually finds out that some travelers shot Maria and a fight broke out. Ellie fights through the town to Maria. She's injured with a gunshot in the arm, but alive still and kicking some ass. She tells Ellie that fireflies came asking for her, and would leave peacefully in return. She told them no and they shot her. Maria says she’ll be okay and tells Ellie to go find JJ and get him to safety.
She fights through to the other side of town. Because of the commotion, infected have broken in so there’s humans and infected running around killing. She gets to Jesse's house and JJ is hysterical, Dina is holding him down and he's like screaming and crying. His grandpa fought off a firefly who was trying to get in their home and was shot and killed. It hits Ellie that this is all her fault. People are dying because of her again. Anyway she tells dina and robin that they need to leave. Dina says she's not going anywhere without Ellie. Ellie wants to stay and fight, but JJ is more important right now. So the 4 of them sneak out and near the gates they meet up with Tommy. He’s helping get people out and sending them to one of the patrol lookouts that is secure and can fit everyone.
Ellie sends Dina, Robin and JJ off. Ellie gives JJ Joel's revolver and tells him to keep mom and grandma safe for her. She goes back to Tommy and the two get back to Maria. When they are very close to her, an infected ambushes them and Tommy gets bit. They get to Maria who is losing blood fast and doesn't look well. After a lot of arguing from Ellie, the pair decide to stay. They tell Ellie they’re old now. Maria wont last long with her wounds, and tommy has no chance of surviving his. They apologize to Ellie for the way things turned out and how much she has meant to them all these years. They give her all their ammo except for one bullet in each of their guns, because that's all they need now. Ellie begs them to come along, and she’ll figure something out for them. But they eventually convince her to go. Ellie leaves crying, and Maria and Tommy maybe get a cute moment before cutting back to Ellie.
Ellie makes it back to where the survivors are and is depressed that there's way less than she was expecting. JJ has cried himself to sleep and Dina notices Ellie is acting strange and pulls her away to ask her. Ellie tells her what happened and Dina holds her while she cries. It's the first time anyone has really been physically affectionate with her in a long time so Ellie clings to her as she lets it all out
The last survivors decide that Jackson isn’t safe. It's too damaged, filled with infected, and no one can figure out what the fireflies were doing. Ellie can't bring herself to say anything about it.
The next morning, everyone wakes up and is discussing what to do. JJ is still inconsolable. Ellie decides to take him away from the group to get some fresh air. She tells him to hold on to Joel's revolver. They chat and JJ asks what happened to auntie Maria and Tommy. She decides to be honest with him. She expects him to cry, but is shocked to see him become angry instead. He basically swears revenge for them and for his grandfather. This of course stirs up a lot of very negative thoughts in Ellie, but she decides to let him grieve in his own way for now.
That’s everything I have written out in detail for now. But the main idea would be Ellie becoming a leader to the few remaining survivors as they make contact with the other settlements that Jackson is allied with. She would take responsibility for all of these lives. They would be her reason for fighting now.
Over the course of the game, Abby would come back and her and Ellie would be forced to team up. There’s no more animosity between the two though, they’re both over it and don’t want to go back down that road. Over the course of the story they would come to understand each other’s actions. They wouldn’t become friends, but they can at least rely on each other.
JJ would find out that Abby is the person responsible for Joel and Jesse’s death, and she came from the group that killed his grandfather, Tommy and Maria. He’d go into a rage and try to attack her and Ellie would have to hold him back. He wants to know why Ellie is defending the person who hurt everyone they loved. Ellie would have to finally tell him the whole story, and try to keep him from giving into his anger and sadness like she did in the second game. She won’t let her son become like her. She wants him to stay her innocent baby boy, but she knows that’s just not possible in their world.
Other stuff that I have yet to flesh out:
More about Dina’s backstory. Or at least her last name.
Lev being a big brother to JJ.
Dina and Ellie falling in love all over again as Dina sees Ellie doing so much for the rest of the community. It’s gonna be emotional.
Ellie teaching JJ how to play guitar, and tearfully singing Future Days to him.
Unpopular opinion
I’m not sure of what people’s opinions on her are. I know most people love her and anyone who doesn’t isn’t entitled to an opinion.
I guess one is I’m not a fan of her farm hairstyle. Her Seattle look was just so cute. Why did you do that to your head, girl.
Favorite relationship
Dina of course.
I feel like Dina represented what Ellie could have if she wasn’t stuck in the past. Joel represented her violent past, and her traumas. Dina represented her future, her home, her family. Ellie was so stuck in the past, that she couldn’t see the future standing literally right in front of her.
It’s a great representation of how she holds onto the people she loves, but also how PTSD works. The past keeps coming back to haunt her.
Favorite headcanon
I hc her as autistic! I kinda feel bad because everyone else hcs her as having ADHD. But I’m autistic so I say she is too *sunglass emoji*.
Why I think she’s autistic:
Obviously her special interests would be space and dinosaurs, and the way she talks about them reminds me of how I get when people let me infodump about my SIs.
The way she plays with her fingers looks hella like stimming to me. In fact, that’s one of my stims!
Her interest in art and music.
Her interest in general nerdy stuff like comics and video games.
She collects cards, and collecting is a big autistic trait.
The way she’s sort of untidy and cluttered, yet labels all of her boxes of shit. The ordered mess is such an autistic thing.

careful man’s careless daughter
@philtstone prompted: Anne/Gilbert babysitter au fake dating prompt #5 let’s go laydees “you have the emotional capacity of a brick. that slate I broke over your head.” (we’re pretending people still use slates now....american schools have no money...its possible ok)
k so i was trying to figure out how to work in the babysitter + fake dating and ... like a flash the plot to this old telugu/tamil movie i love missamma/missaimaa came to mind -- its not quite the same because they’re two people pretending to be married so that they can make money as school teachers/live in tutors for a wealthy family’s daughter but it works just enough that i decided to roll with it lol.
this technically isn’t the actual babysitting, nor the fake dating which I actually turned into a fake marriage lol, but i hope u still like it, even though it is all over the place and a general wreck because i wrote it straight through without any editing or thought towards pacing/characterization bc i havent written in forever lol!! im not even sure what the time period setting is lol, and i dont think my translating of the anne events into a semi modern day even works but w/e lol.
u are the truest of friends, the light of my life, and have certainly heard more than your share of my mental breakdowns both in the last month and the last few years lol. u deserve all the good things, all the good fic, all the time.
title is a perversion of a tswift lyric because it came up on youtube. if anyone wants to send in prompts from here
---
“You owe him how much?”
Anne sighs, crossing her legs to hide how uncomfortable she is in this moment -- here she is in the park, fifteen thousand dollars plus interest in medical debt for Marilla’s eye surgery and being hounded by Roy Gardner, ex boyfriend apparently turned loan shark who was on his knees proclaiming both love and loan forgiveness should Anne just accept his proposal.
Here Gilbert Blythe is, sitting on a park bench after two years without contact, watching the whole thing.
“Marilla doesn’t have health insurance,” Anne says, eyes on the ground as she uses the toe of her shoe to grind a leaf into the sidewalk cement. “Even when I was teaching, the union plan didn’t let people add parents on as dependents.” She sighs. “With everything happening with the farm, she couldn’t afford to put money towards a plan and so when her eyes got bad....”
For a moment, there is silence. Anne can almost hear Gilbert’s jaw clench “That’s just wrong.”
Anne laughs, and because her eyes are averted she doesn’t see Gilbert flinch. “That’s America, Blythe.”
“Well,” she hears him say, tone just dripping with what Mrs. Rachel would call the Blythe Stubbornness, “It shouldn’t be.”
She won’t ever admit it, but there’s something Anne has always found deeply compelling about Gilbert when he gets into these moods -- all righteously indignant in a way that Anne feels inside of her own body. Or felt, before Matthew died and left behind debts not even Marilla had known about, and Marilla’s eyes worsened around the the time Anne was let go from her teaching job and even if she had had the job it wouldn’t have mattered, she knows, but still. Beautiful, wonderful, beloved Diana had offered to help, of course she had, but Anne knew that Fred’s business wasn’t yet where it should be and that the parents Barry were still unimpressed with their son in law to be’s financial acumen. So she’d had to go to Roy, who had of course lent his beautiful Anne the money, and of course had arranged for Marilla to be treated at the best hospital in Toronto, of course had set them up in the apartment of a friend of his right in downtown where the rents were a thousand maybe two per month. He’d popped the question for the third time the second Marilla had been released back into Anne’s care.
Almost as if he can hear her thoughts, Gilbert speaks -- “Gardner shouldn’t be harassing you like this either. Who ever heard of charging interest on a loan to a friend? And what on earth does he think he’s going to take from you if you just don’t pay?”
Anne burns. This, she hasn’t told Marilla, nor even her darling Diana. For some reason, it seems alright to tell Gilbert. “The farm,” she mumbles.
Gilbert snorts. “I’m sorry, I must have misheard. Are you saying that Roy Gardner, heir to one of the biggest fortunes in Boston and your ex boyfriend, took your home as collateral on a loan for money you needed to pay for your mother’s surgery?”
Anne says nothing. She still hasn’t looked up at him, hasn’t been able to meet his gaze since she sat down on the bench and told Roy to get up off his knees and wait two months for either his money or her affirmative answer. She blinks, having mercifully forgotten that Gilbert was present for that last bit. She hopes he’s forgotten too.
“And wait, before he left you said....” No such luck. “Anne!” Anne’s sure her entire head must be flame as she closes her eyes, bringing her knees up on the park bench and burying her face into her own lap. “Anne you said you’d marry him if you couldn’t get the money!”
“There’s no debt between spouses,” Anne mumbles. “We’d get to keep the farm, and I wouldn’t ever worry about Marilla’s health again.”
“But you don’t love him!” She doesn’t know if she’s ever heard Gilbert sound so scandalized.
“I used to!” she tries to retort, but even Anne knows that her voice betrays her when she tries to speak this lie. “I used to think I was,” she amends, “and maybe that’s as close as I’m allowed to get -- he’s rich, handsome, he even loves me! What more could I ask for?”
“Coercing you into marriage, demanding interest on money that we all know is just pocket change for someone like him...that’s not love,” Gilbert Blythe responds, with all that....that all-knowing Blytheness in his voice that Anne has hated since she was 13 years old and the new kid in a class of people who had always known each other just as easily as they had known themselves. “Love is selfless, Anne, strong and kind. It makes you better for giving away your heart, even if the one you love doesn’t give you theirs in return.”
Gilbert Blythe, always acting as if he knows something Anne does not. He speaks as if he’s been in love, at some point over the years since he was last in Avonlea and for some reason Anne absolutely burns with that knowledge. Ooh she just hates him, now at 24 just as easily as she had at 13!
“And what exactly is love worth if it means I just lose the farm trying to pay for Marilla’s surgery, and still have nothing for the next time she’s sick?” Suddenly Anne is on her feet, hands on her hips as she glares at Gilbert looking quite alarmed as he still sits on the bench. The words she has kept locked on the inside, too private to even be written in a diary, come pouring out in one big rush:
“Three of my four parents are already dead, Gilbert Blythe.” Her voice hitches, to her horror, her sudden fury vanishes as she has to blink away the tears she has kept at bay since she and Marilla buried Matthew. Damn Gilbert, for bringing this out of her as well. “I can’t...I couldn’t bear to lose anyone else.” Her lips thin, and with a breath, her voice steadies. “I don’t care what you, or anyone else thinks about my choices if it means that I can take care of Marilla.”
Gilbert’s eyes have the sheen of his own tears when he stands, his own lips wobbling just slightly. “I...” he swallows. “Of course, Anne.” Something Anne recognizes as self hatred passes briefly over his face, but she doesn’t understand. “I wish I had money like Gardner to give you, I really do.”
Anne gentles, even if something inside her twists to be the object of the long-old guilt mixed with pity, much less Gilbert Blythe. Since Matthew’s death, every person in Avonlea it seems has sat with Anne and Marilla and offered their deep condolences, their absolute shock at the pair’s financial state of affairs, how much they wish they could help but sadly cannot, what with the way the bank’s collapse has hit their own finances. Only families like the Gardners survive economic crashes with money to burn.
“I wouldn’t have taken it even if you had,” she offers instead, shrugging casually.
His eyes flash. “But you took Gardner’s?”
“I thought he loved me!” Anne closes her eyes, somehow feeling her cheeks flush even deeper. This is why she’s avoided all mention of Gilbert Blythe so strenuously since high school graduation, because more than anyone else he is the one who drags out the words she is always learning to keep inside. Here he is, somehow pulling confessions Anne hadn’t even dreamed of telling Diana, confessions that make her seem small, and stupid, lost in a world so much more complicated and treacherous than she can handle all on her lonesome.
Well, she thinks, in for a penny --
“I thought he loved me,” she says, “and that he had the money to spare. I didn’t realize...” She looks away again, so that she never has to see him react to her folly.
“Oh Anne,” Gilbert says, for some reason so soft and stricken that Anne’s knees go weak with her sudden desire to fall to the ground and weep. “You deserve so much better.”
And now she’s angry again. “What would you know about what I deserve?” Anne spits, “you haven’t even been home since you started med school!” Vaguely, Anne thinks that Gilbert hasn’t been home since she and Roy had gotten serious, serious enough for her to bring him to Green Gables and show him the place that had been her very first love. Coincidences can be so strange.
“It doesn’t matter,” she says, glaring again at the ground. “None of this matters. I’m just going to go home” Anne clenches her jaw, knowing that when she gets back to Green Gables she will go into her room and play every excruciating part of this conversation back in her head, again and again until she throws up or passes out at dawn from sheer exhaustion. Maybe both, if she’s lucky. She leans back slightly and manages to turn around on her heels, a trick Gilbert Blythe had always pulled at school and had had girls thinking he was so cool.
She’s five minutes away from the park bench when suddenly she hears him call out her name.
“Anne,” he shouts again much closer, bending at his waist to balance his hands at his knees as he pants. “God, it really has been two years since I was on the university football team.”
Despite the roiling emotions of five minutes ago, Anne’s lips quirk. “I can’t imagine you all practiced very much to end up near the bottom of your league every year.”
Gilbert’s eyes widen, and for some reason he flushes. Maybe he’s so out of shape that it’s from exertion? “I didn’t realize you kept up with my matches.” Ah. Anne, it seems, will experience nothing else but one long sustained flush as long as she is in front of Gilbert Blythe. “You know,” she tries to say casually, “you hear things here and there. Diana told me the village gossip.”
Gilbert opens his mouth, but then suddenly shakes his head, like a dog trying to dislodge water from its fur. “I have...” he frowns. “I have a proposition for you.” Anne raises what she hopes is an elegant eyebrow. “Oh?”
He grimaces. “There’s a boarding school, a Catholic one, that’s asking for teachers over the summer for a few of their select students who want to be coached for college admissions. Essays, standardized tests, everything. They’ve got heaps of money, and are willing to pay salaries up front. Plus, they cover all your expenses while you’re there!”
Anne blinks, feeling the beginnings of hope gather as kindling at the very dredges of her heart. Once, both Anne and Gilbert had competed so well against each other that they had both gotten into Harvard. Then, Matthew had died, and Anne decided she could just as easily get a teaching degree at the state school and stay closer to Marilla too. Gilbert alone had had the distinction of being the first from Avonlea to reach such heights, and had reached even higher when he had been accepted again to Harvard Medical School.
But at one point, both Anne and Gilbert had taken their SATs. They’d both written their application essays. They’d both gotten in. Anne, even, had been offered a full ride compared to Gilbert’s only partial scholarship, so there could even be an argument that of the two, Anne had been the one on top.
And if nothing else, Anne is even better at teaching than she was at taking tests.
“I’ll do it,” she says firmly. “Where and when do I need to report, and how much money are they offering?” For a second, a bright, dazzling grin paints Gilbert’s face. “Really? Ten--” he coughs, “Twenty thousand.” Anne frowns.
“Each?” It sounds like a dream come true. Five thousand more than Anne needs, and paid upfront. She could save the farm, and put away five thousand towards the farm’s debts. “That sounds....exorbitant.” He nods, suddenly more confident. “Yep! Twenty thousand for sure.” He laughs. “I know Gardner was supposed to be slumming it at state school, but you really can’t be surprised at how much money rich people are willing to throw at a problem.”
“The problem being...their children.” Gilbert’s grin turns wicked. “The problem being their children’s SAT scores, and lack of compelling anecdote to base an admission’s essay on, yes.”
Anne laughs, wicked in this moment as well. She wishes in this moment, fiercely, as she has many times over the last few years, that she had been able to go to university with Gilbert at her side -- as the friends they had slowly begun to be after years of one and two sided enmity, before time and distance had turned them into near strangers. She doesn’t regret staying back, not really, but there is a part of her that no one had ever understood half as well as Gilbert Blythe, who had, after the Harvard interest meeting, drawn and pinned up a schedule for practice SATs that took into account both his and Anne’s often conflicting life schedules.
“What’s the catch,” she asks, grinning when Gilbert chokes “come on, Blythe, there’s always a catch with offers like this. Is it across from a waste manufacturing plant? Is the principal a pervert?”
Slowly, Gilbert Blythe is turning red. “Ah,” he says, shuffling like he never did even when he was an errant schoolboy. “Well,” he says, and....is that his voice cracking?
“Gilbert,” Anne says, trying to reassure him, “I grew up in the foster system, I can handle much worse than bad smells and pervert principals, I promise.”
He frowns. “It’s not that,” he says slowly, “but basically they’re looking for two teachers, a man and a woman to manage the boys and the girls while the rest of the staff go on vacation.”
Anne smiles, trying to ignore the jolt of her heart at the thought of an entire summer with Gilbert, studying like they used to but as friends. Her old dreams, finally coming true. “That’s perfect then, you take one job and I’ll take the other! It’ll be like old times, kind of.”
He smiles faintly, as if, even after locking horns with the best and brightest at Harvard, Anne is still the person he wants to be trading barbs with over the heads of high school students for months on end. “I’d like nothing better, he says, except...”
“Except?”
Gilbert inhales. “ExceptTheSchoolWillOnlyHireAMarriedCoupleSoThatTheyDon’tHaveToWorryAboutOutofWedlockSexorTeachersHavingSexWithStudents.” All in a rush, and now Gilbert is the one who can’t apparently handle eye contact.
“What?”
“The school,” Gilbert says to his shoes, “since it’s Catholic, and also since they’re lazy, only want a married couple so that they don’t have to have anyone watching to make sure the teachers aren’t having sex with the students. Or each other.”
Anne blinks. “But we’re not married!”
Gilbert grimaces, opening his mouth, but then just biting his lip. They could be, Anne thinks, only a tad hysterical. Only all of Avonlea was matching them up all the years of high school, and even the years after until she’d met Roy. It would be so easy to get a certificate. They could get a divorce by September, even annul their marriage since they definitely wouldn’t be having sex.
Twenty thousand dollars.
“So what you’re saying,” Anne says slowly, her lip curling of its own accord “is that after all that talk about what love is and isn’t, and telling me that I shouldn’t marry Roy for the money he’d give me, your blockheaded solution is instead, for me to marry you?”
Gilbert looks up. “Well when you put it that way--” Anne sees red, even as she already sees herself in one of her old white lace dresses, standing with Gilbert at the courtroom and signing. “Gilbert Blythe I don’t believe you! Sometimes, I think that you really do have all the emotional capacity of that slate I broke over your head!”
“I know,” he says tone heavy with something so sad that Anne’s hearten softens a bit of its own accord. “But you really need the money, and I promise we’ll get a divorce by September.” He smiles, but there’s something bitter at the corners that Anne has never seen before -- she almost raises her hand to rub the strand of emotion off his lips. “And you’re not the only one who needs the money. Will you do it?”
Twenty thousand dollars. The farm, Marilla, an end to the eternal pity of Avonlea. And also, a small part of her suggests, an opportunity to finally spend time with this new Gilbert Blythe who went off into the world and left her behind.
She sighs. “I vote that you be the one to tell Mrs. Lynde.”
#obviously gilbert's been in love with anne this whole time#not in a really creepy way just a realization that no one he meets compares#a gentle longing for an unrequited love hes accustomed himself to#the salary is originally 10k each but he decides to give her his and cut a deal with the people to put it all in anne's name#which theyre fine with bc theyre married and hes like oh the debts we have are in her name lol#in this au since he didnt give up the school for her this salary thing is probably that equivalent?#anyways anne and gilbert fall in love while teaching annoying rich kids who get a transformative summer that helps them become good people#they reconnect talk about their past their present their futrue#fall in love thinking the other one could never feel the same#good stuff#aogg#anne of green gables#anne shirley#gilbert blythe#maya writes

ways to say i love you (07)
jung hoseok / reader genre: ghost au, angst rating: mature words: 2.5k warnings: character death, reference to a past suicide, mental health mentions, ghost hoseok, it’s a big ball of angst and i’m really sorry :( a/n: ways to say i love you has come to an end !!!! thanks for joining me on this painful angst series :’) please read the others on my masterlist + listen to the songs/vibes attached to all of ‘em :D (the end is super inspired by goblin)
➸ Imagine the first time they say I love you. Like, properly say it; because they’ve said it before, but today they say it one last time, when it’s the only thing left to say.
⚠️ this story is NOT intended to glamorise mental health or suicide, and this story should be approached with caution if topics such as those offend or upset. thank u sm for following this series <3
It started with a median.
There had been a time where you prided yourself on your disbelief in an afterlife, dismissing medians on television, laughing at ghost hunters and paranormal movies depicting demons and ghouls climbing out of screens. Although now, those times seem to long ago, phantom memories - even the person you were in those memories seem to be different, as though looking into the mind of a stranger, disconnected and vacant.
Seokjin had told you that was a coping mechanism. Hyojung assured you it was normal. Your sister said it was mental illness.
After the loss of Hoseok, you didn’t know what to think anymore. After the loss of the love of your life, thinking just became pointless.
When the news of Hoseok’s passing had reached you, it had reached you last. At least everybody in your close circle of friends knew a few hours before you, Hoseok’s family and Jeongguk who had found him being the first who found out almost a day before. The absence of Hoseok for those long and tortuous hours were ones you misjudged. You thought he was going back to Gwangju to see his family for the weekend. Seokjin thought he was with you. Jeongguk had returned to his shared flat and found the truth hanging.
The only reason as to why you were last was because nobody knew how you would react. Amongst the chaos and shock that was Hoseok’s death, the reaction that would be drawn from you would change everything. Looking back at it, you even remember where you were and when it had happened, when the pin dropped. Originally, they wanted Jeongguk to tell you, but, overcome with grief, he sent Yoongi instead. You will never, ever forget the look on Yoongi’s face as you opened the door, and the news followed a cup of tea and an unexpected, clueless, and genuine smile had settled on your lips. “What are you doing here?” you had asked, “is everything okay?” He’d said nothing, and then broke down when you asked if he’d heard from Hoseok this weekend. He’s missing my calls. Has he contacted you?
Even after the funeral, after the original shock and after the news had been broken out around University, people still didn’t know how to act around you. The Hoseok Subject was never spoken about or touched upon. Pictures of Hoseok were turned over or taken down when you came over, his name buried with him in the pretty cemetery by the river. It took some time, a real long time, but eventually, the pain began to ever so slightly fade; only to come rushing back again like the sudden pull of the tide when Seulgi had approached your booth in the dorm common room with a leaflet about a median.
You don’t know why you went.
Hyojung had come, too, as emotional support and because she wanted to be there to see if it was as real as Seulgi and the leaflet were making it out to be. You hadn’t even booked a session, turning up unannounced and anonymous for the meeting in one of the older lecture rooms on campus. The question of why and how a median was permitted onto campus was never addressed - you just had to see and hear it for yourself. Nothing had come out of it, and you were glad to keep it that way. That was until the median called out for a Y/N, and your heart sank.
“There’s a Hoseok in the room, and he’s asking for a Y/N...is there...a Y/N here?”
You had no reaction other than paralysed silence. Hyojung was scandalised, angry and confused. The median surely must have heard about Hoseok’s death here and that’s why the session was on campus. She said all of this accusingly, crying in hysterics, this is wrong, how can you do this to someone in grieving?
You left the lecture hall, leaving a piece of you behind with it.
Since that day, you’d returned back to the comfort of your bedroom, leaving for your lectures only. Seminars were skipped in silence and the teachers understood, sending emails to cover for it, and the notifications piled up like the tissues in the dustbin. No matter how hard you tried to convince yourself that the event with the median was a scam, something set up as a sick practical joke, you couldn’t shake it off. What if’s and buts whirled around in your head, chaotic, loud, invasive and sad.
Hoseok was gone, and there was nothing you could do about it. But what if you had stayed -? What if it was true? What if you just missed your last, and final opportunity to say goodbye?
(Presently).
“Why are you here? All of you?”
“We never left.”
You blink.
“Does it...does it hurt? Dying?”
You close your eyes slowly. “Quicker than falling asleep.” And exhale.
Something deep into your apartment bumps.
The noise is quiet whilst still being loud enough to bounce off the volume of the movie, playing quietly on your television screen sitting on top of your desk. Lately, your living room has been pulled into your bedroom, all rooms besides the connecting ensuite now in one. Phone calls from worried friends and family were set to silent and on days where the front door rang, it remained closed. Like you did many months ago, all you need right now is the space. Hyojung had told them why. They didn’t blame you.
Sniffing and wiping your eye with the side of your hand, you push the covers folded up around your breasts down and kick your feet to the floor, staring towards your bedroom door as if probing it for answers. Silence, and then another noise. On a normal day, this might alarm you, but your body is numb, aching and tired, and so you move towards the door without thinking and pull it open, stepping out into the hall. A glance in either direction shows no immediate threat, and you’re too lazy, too tired and too unbothered to step out to investigate. The noise is likely somebody upstairs or down, and if it is an intruder here to kill you, then what do you have to lose?
You move back into your bedroom, shutting the door gently. The bathroom rope-light swings in the breeze from the door moving and you slip into the bathroom quickly. Light floods the box room, illuminating the exhaustion on your face. You look ghastly, sunken and stale. You feel it too. Depression clings to you, life moves outside but stills in. God, you feel so ugly, so worthless and disgusting and alone - splashing your face with cold water, you gasp in the air like you’re depending on the taste, passing up looking at your reflection in the mirror in fear of what you’ll see staring back. When the bathroom light is turned off and you shut the door behind you, you turn to shuffle back into your bedroom and pause.
There is somebody by the window. It’s undeniable, real and solid- but you blink several times, wondering if it’s just a dream. Nothing registers in your body, no reflex to scream or panic. Instead, you simply stare.
The silhouette against the window shuffles, anxious, and then steps into the light. For a while you say nothing, staring in a stunned silence as the figure reveals itself. It has to be a dream. This is a dream. You’ve dreamt it a hundred times. You’ve dreamt Hoseok stepping towards you. You don’t know what to think.
“Hobi,” you say, lifeless. “Am I...dreaming?”
“Baby-” Footsteps across the carpet. Moves like him. Sounds like him. “Oh, my baby girl.” Something cold touches you, but something familiar. Old friends. Old lovers, fleshy hands. Feels like him. “My beautiful girl.”
“Hobi. Hobi?” you stumble. The Hoseok before you watches your eyes fill with tears instantly, and the tightness in your throat he can visibly see causing your hands to tremble. “Hoseok? Am I. Am I dreaming? Am I sleeping?”
“Mhm, yeah,” he settles with. Maybe that’s for the best, maybe that will calm you down. His hands engulf your own, massaging the shakes to sleep. “You’re dreaming, baby.”
“You. You feel so real,” you choke. “Fuck. Hoseok, fuck, what’s happening, why does it feel real-”
“Please-”
“I’m scared, wait, what’s happening, Hoseok-?”
The hands you felt on your hands move to your arms. A tightness follows, like he’s holding you. He did this, he was good at calming you down with his hands on your arms and lips on yours, whispers in mouths. This time he doesn’t kiss you. He can’t. Not now. Not again, never again.
“You’re not supposed to be here,” you insist, tears pouring out of your eyes. “You’re. You. Baby, you died, you left me, you left us, why did you. Where did you. Baby, Hoseok, what...?”
“Calm down, Y/N, calm down baby, okay?” Hoseok whispers comfortingly. “Capture your breath, and then we’ll talk okay? I don’t have too long left.”
This repeats for a little while, as Hoseok follows a method he used to when he tried to calm you down. After three long and amazing years of dating, Hoseok had learned what worked and what didn’t, what to say and what not to. The crazy thing about love is how you dedicate everything to getting to know that other person inside and out, learning their secrets and exploring interests, making memories to remember and frame and tell kids about. There was a time when Hoseok thought about all of that, and a time where he could have had it.
“Is it really you?” you ask quietly, after several long minutes of Hoseok holding your head in his hands and bringing you out of the storm onto the calm shore. “I’m not going crazy?”
“It’s me,” Hoseok promises, smiling as best as he can. You’re crying, maybe you can’t see his face. His throat feels hot, tight and firm.
“I miss you.” You rasp out your words, gasping for air every few seconds, “I miss you so much, Hoseok. Why did you leave me, what happened?”
“I’m so sorry, baby.”
“I. I thought you were going to your parents for the weekend, but. But Jeongguk found you and- why did you lie to me? Hobi, why…? Was, was it me?”
“No.” Hoseok grabs your hands tightly. “Don’t ever say that. It was never, ever your fault. Not at all, okay? Don’t think that.”
“Then why?”
Hoseok can’t think. “I don’t want you to think it was your fault, okay? You were- you are, everything to me. You were the light of my life. But, fuck, I was so unhappy. And I didn’t know how to stop being unhappy. I hurt. It hurt me. I was hurting everybody around me in my own little way. Every time I would tell you that I was doing extra readings at the dorm, all I was doing was struggling, thinking about how unhappy I felt even though I was surrounded by people who made me feel worth it. And you all deserved so much better. Still, you deserve so much better.”
“Jeongguk found you. None of us knew you were hurting, Hobi, I didn’t know. We should have noticed the signs, I should have been more careful.”
“No. I was good at hiding it, I never wanted you to worry.”
Suddenly Hoseok’s eyes widen, his hands stroking your hair pausing. With a quick exhale of breath, his smile tightens and he lets out a shaky sigh. “I haven’t got long left. I need to go soon.”
“Go? No, go where?” you frantically ask. “No, please Hobi, don’t leave me again. You can’t leave me again, please.”
“It’s okay. It’s all okay. I tried to call for you the other week, but you left,” Hoseok explains quickly.
“The median? That...that was you?”
Hoseok laughs quietly, “Yeah, baby. But, I get it, you never believed in all that stuff, huh. I should have known better. I had to come here, come to see you. I had to.”
I had to one last time.
“Please,” you whisper, grabbing his hands. “Please don’t leave me again. Please. I love you so much, please don’t leave me alone again. I need you.”
Hoseok shakes his head, attempting a curly smile that you can’t even see past the blur of his own tears. “Y/N L/N, you have been the love of my life. I have loved being your boyfriend and you are my best friend. I will never, ever forget how amazing you are.” Nodding, sniffing his tears back, Hoseok kisses your forehead. His lips are cold and wet, ghostlike and light. “I love you. I love you so much, baby. I’m so sorry, for everything- none of it is your fault, okay, honey? Mmm?”
You feel his hands in your hair as you nod. “I know. I know, and I’m sorry too. I could have helped you.”
“Don’t forget about me,” Hoseok says. “You being happy, and you knowing that it was never your fault, will help me now. Okay?”
Sniffing loudly, you nod again. “Okay.”
For a long moment, Hoseok just stares: “I’m gonna miss you so much.” You mumble something in reply to him, and he sighs shakily, “but now, I have to go.”
You grab his hands as he tries to pull away. “Don’t leave me, you’re leaving me.”
“I never left. I’ll always be here, watching over you. Always, and forever.”
Whether or not Hoseok’s appearance was a dream or not to you, you wake up the next morning with a headache and the memory of him, his voice saying I love you on loop with an echo in your ears. The sun shines into the room, frost outside. On the desk there’s a glass of water, and a letter. He was right. He never left. Not really.
(“All is said and done?”
Hoseok steps into the long hallway and smiles at the hooded man. He’s seen who he needs to; several stops around to his family, one to Jeongguk who had it the worst with finding his body. The final one for you. Y/N, the love of his entire life, remembered in memories and gone in touch.
It’s okay.
“Yeah,” Hoseok nods. Death nods, his hood falling slightly as he points down the hallway with one hand and with the other, passes Hoseok a small cup. Hoseok reaches for it, exhaling gently. “Just like falling asleep.”
He drinks the contents and hands the cup back to Death, heading down the hallway. For a moment, his hand hovers above the handle. He’s said his piece on Earth. He’s done what he needs to do. Now, he can move on in peace.
He turns the handle. The hallway fills with white.)
disclaimer: the choice not to explicitly state a reason towards hoseok’s suicide is because i understand the subject is already touchy enough. with the anniversary of a close friend coming up, unfortunately during a time of my life where i’m going to be stressed due to university, i decided to store my feelings into the final piece of this series. in a way, this is to deal with my own grieving. i’d appreciate consideration into this fact + i also hope that everybody is doing okay with their own issues. please don’t be afraid to speak to somebody about your feelings- a friend, a stranger, me. please stay safe. please stay happy. thank u for everything

Bbterra (duh! XD)
>u>!!!!! mmmm
send a ship & I will answer….
bbterra || gar/tara (gatara? lmao)
who is a night owl.
i think i can actually give a solid answer with this ship, with the answer being: gar–even though it can still be sorta situational with him.
i can see tara’s mental/biological clock (???) kind of being in tune with the rise and set of the sun due to her being constantly on the move throughout a good chunk of her life–including living in like? caves and stuff?? if i remember correctly???–so she’s used to rising with the sun and going to bed with it as well since traveling in the wilderness after dark, especially during a new moon, can be challenging. it’s just kind of a habit that she’s never actively tried to break. she might try to stay up with him while he’s playing a game or watching a movie but passes out not too long into it and gar just kinda lets her drool on his shoulder.
who is a morning person.
following my thoughts above, tara’s most likely the morning person out of the two. groggy some days, fully awake other days. gar tends to be in a “sleep hangover” regardless of how much sleep he got or the events of the previous day, and the only times he can count as an early riser or morning person are on mornings where he went to bed feeling unsafe.
are they cuddlers.
oh my god yes and it’s disgusting. not literally but like. these two dweebs. i imagine in a lot of ways they’re both kind of touch-starved (i know gar is) so whenever they’re sitting around with each other, they’re touching in SOME WAY. whether it’s sitting side by side, just close enough so their arms are touching, or holding hands while sitting together/walking somewhere, maybe chilling on the couch and tara’s leaning back with just her calves draped over gar’s lap while they’re playing a game, the list goes on. they are cuddlers. literally no doubt.
who is the big spoon.
i think it alternates, kind of depending on the night, the events of the day and if someone is acting as the “comfort” to the other’s “hurt”, if that makes sense.
i dunno what your future headcanons are for tara’s height (so ignore this if i’m way off) but i can’t see gar ever outgrowing her. she’s a few inches taller than him by the time they both stop growing. this has no effect on the spooning but whatever.
but yeah, i think it alternates and might even change as the night rolls on and their sleeping positions shift and stuff. no definite answer, here.
who is the little spoon.
see above!
what is their favourite sleeping position.
i don’t think they have a favorite sleeping position, per say, but i think the one they usually fall into or wind up in (subconsciously or otherwise) would be with gar hugging tara from behind with his head/face resting in either the curve of her neck or just between her shoulder blades. usually the latter, though, because he can hear her heartbeat and finds that soothing. there’s also a 95% chance he’s holding one of tara’s hands, too.
who steals all the blankets.
… i dunno. i’m going to say tara, though.
they’re both people who are used to sleeping without blankets due to their pasts and experiences, but i see tara as more on the opportunist side and if gar doesn’t make a move to nab the blankets and she wants them, she will. gar will let her burrito herself and just grow some fur or turn into something with a thick coat or lots of blubber.
what they wear to bed.
as mentioned, gar always wears a minimum of a t-shirt and boxers to bed. sometimes a hoodie when it’s cold. never socks.
i can see tara wearing something similar, though sometimes it’s one of gar’s t-shirts, and she also enjoys wearing socks. especially long ones or really thick ones. she’s tried convincing gar to start wearing socks by means of getting a running start down a long corridor, sliding and SLAMMING INTO HIM LIKE A BOWLING BALL TO PINS but it hasn’t worked yet. although she might be wearing him down. >->
also, y’all might want to move this to another floor because raven’s getting tired of hearing gar suddenly shriek at the top of his lungs closely followed by a crash and then noxious laughter.
who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt.
gar gets stupid flustered and bashful whenever tara casually puts on one of his t-shirts and sometimes he’ll wear one of tara’s older/more beat up t-shirts if he’s about to do an activity that makes a mess (painting, gardening, working with an animal, etc) and she’s told him she doesn’t mind him making it dirtier.
and if you think gar’s never shamelessly worn one of her crop-tops while they were out on the city or at the beach, you’re mistaken, my friend.
who falls asleep mid-conversation.
tara. as mentioned, gar more or less has to actively make the decision to fall asleep (unless he’s literally about to collapse from extreme exhaustion), so it’s highly unlikely he’ll ever pass out mid-conversation.
they’re probably lying around talking about random stuff, jumping from subject to subject like a spider on a web and suddenly she just stops responding and he turns his head to see she’s snoring.
who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares.
i imagine they both do. i don’t know to what extent tara’s past horrors go into (i know her country gave her and her brother their powers but idk how… traumatic that process would have been) but based off how she behaves prior to learning to control them, i can guess she’s been the cause of some crap. and gar’s been through… *rolls out 84 mile long list* … a lot… so.
yeah. these two. nightmares aren’t scarce. and i think they’re both hypocrites because they’d both want to help the other process them but, when it comes to their own demons, refuse to talk about it.
who accidentally punched the other in their sleep.
i know i’ve said this with each of these but, like, it’s a legit issue, specifically due to his time “in the custody” of eddie and bates. they’d grab him out of his sleep on nights they were drunk or just generally pissed off, so it’s basically burned into his brain that if he’s suddenly grabbed while sleeping to punch, kick or scratch the hand/arm that’s got him. he doesn’t really think enough to check who it is who’s making contact with him.
so, i’m sure he’s punched, kicked or scratched her at least once. then proceeded to spend the rest of the night sleeping on the floor or on the couch regardless of her assurances and stuff. he feels like utter trash, apologizes profusely while helping her doctor it up and is antsy about falling asleep around her for a short time.
who can’t keep their hands to themselves.
again, i don’t think either of them fall into this in it’s most extreme/literal sense. moreso see my answer to “are they cuddlers?” and that should sum it up just fine.
who said “I love you” first.
i think this is situational. though, most likely, would probably be gar, as he might blurt it out during a moment of complete joy and bliss and then fall into a panic when he realizes he did it randomly and it was awkward and unplanned and oh god oh no what will she think of me–i’m such aN IDIOT SHE DESERVES TO HEAR IT IN A MORE ROMANTIC SETTING WHY AM I L I K E THIS
who would have the other’s picture as their phone background.
tbh i can totally see them being those FREAKING DORKS who have the same or matching phone backgrounds?? like, either they both have the same picture of them at the beach/park as their phone backgrounds OR they have a picture of each other doing the same activity.
like, tara’s phone background is a picture of gar posing next to a ditto they found on Pokemon Go and gar’s phone background is a picture of tara posing next to an onix.
someone please stop them.
who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror.
THEY BOTH DO WITH STICKY NOTES AND THE MIRROR NO LONGER EXISTS.
LISTEN
there is literally a trail of sticky notes all over this freaking mirror with a full-fledged adventure of an ongoing conversation that momentarily turned into a pokemon battle that turned into a debate about who would win in a fight (dwayne the rock johnson or godzilla) that turned into tons of positive quotes and phrases that turned into a conversation about what would happen if it was safe to consume lava lamp goo and you discovered you could glow in the dark and, my god, this mirror is a mess. it’s pointless, now, aside from being used as a sticky note surface. there is no mirror, here, only multi-colored chaos.
who buys the other cheesy gifts.
i know i keep saying this but gar would 100% buy tara random gifts because they made him think of her and he just couldn’t resist the idea of making her smile, so there you go. as usual, they’re spread out so she doesn’t worry about him dumping money all over her but… he can’t be stopped, you guys, he wants to give his loved ones ALL THE NICE THINGS….
who initiated the first kiss.
*takes a long, hard stare at Betrayal as i feel my soul leave my body*
… i’m going to say tara because we can’t see gar’s face (even though he’s leaning in) and her eyes are closed, AND also because gar is kind of hesitant about being the instigator in these situations most of the time. … though the first official kiss may have been more of a nervous peck on the lips than a legit kiss, then there’s the awkward “omg you kissed me” couple of seconds where they both kind of panic about it but then after they calm down and realize it’s okay and that the feeling is mutual and they both want it, the second ‘first kiss’ is equally mutual and clumsy and awkward but WHO CARES TBH.
who kisses the other awake in the morning.
again, i think it’s less kissing the other awake and more giving each other a gentle kiss on the forehead or cheek or temple regardless of if the gesture rouses the other. they both do this, but it’s more often tara since gar’s the one who sleeps in regularly.
who starts tickle fights.
… i don’t know WHY but i’ve always headcanoned that tara isn’t ticklish at all–whereas gar IS–so when she tries to start a tickle fight and he attempts to retaliate there’s like this awkward couple of seconds where GAR USED TICKLE RIBS… … … IT’S NOT VERY EFFECTIVE and they’re both kind of like
who asks who if they can join the other in the shower.
tara most likely is the one to ask first, though it’s… very hesitant and awkward due to her having trouble asking if she can join him without DIRECTLY asking, if that makes any sense. and then he gets flustered and she gets flustered and everything’s awkward until they both just blurt “OKAY!!” at the same time and, GUESS WE’RE DOING THIS NOW.
on that note there’s, like… nothing sexual about their showers basically ever.
shared showers are spent singing bad pop-songs into their shampoo bottles, washing each other’s hair, washing each other’s injuries if needed, arguing/debating theories on whatever TV show they’re currently watching or game they’re playing, ooooor with tara pretending to be the lady from the grudge and deathrattling as her hair consumes gar while he re-inacts basically every scream in an old black and white horror movie.
… christ, you’re both losers.
who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch.
they both would!!!! it alternates on availability and stuff, but they both would absolutely do this and surprise each other with their favorite lunches.
who was nervous and shy on the first date.
i think they BOTH were, but i’d place money that gar is actively displaying his nerves/shyness while tara’s at least somewhat better at keeping her cool/keeping her nerves mostly contained, although there are glimpses of her bashful side when gar does or says something endearing or sincere.
who kills/takes out the spiders.
the first time this happens, tara is legit about to just CRUSH it with the nearest blunt object but gar literally throws himself into the line of fire and ends up getting smacked over the head with a dictionary all in the name of saving a tiny wolf spider.
after that, he starts teaching/helping tara learn how to carefully catch them in some tuba-wear and where to best release them outdoors. she hasn’t killed a spider since.
who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk.
as previously mentioned, gar refuses to drink alcohol. so, IF you think tara is one who would drink to the point of getting tipsy or drunk, it’d most likely be her.

Tell me about your oc please!!
OH BOI!!!
i have 2 oc’s so i’ll just give a lil rundown on my hero oc Mira n then if u want to look into her more you can look under the cut where there will be specific blips about her style, appearence, characteristics, etc.!
Name: Mira Valentine
Hero Name: Ricochet
Age: 16
Affiliation: UA Hero Course
Quirk: Energy Collection & Redistribution
Explanation of Quirk: Mira can ‘collect’ most types of energy in the palm of her left hand, where it can then be redistributed out of her right in a sort of blast, the color and form sometimes changing depending on what energy was taken in to create the blast. Her weakness would be that the energy she collects has to be directed at left her hand or her hand has to have contact with it, meaning she can’t just absorb it wherever, plus her left hand has been left quite scarred because of it. She also has trouble with centering where she redistributes that energy, so sometimes it just ends up going all over the place which can hurt her and those around her.
Personality: Mira is loud, slightly irrational, and the mere definition of a firecracker. She’s always up for a challenge and takes no shit and her aggressive personality has turned many away from her growing up, so other than her best friend Maile (@roomycupcake‘s oc) she never really had any friends until she got to UA after she and Maile moved to Japan from America. Despite how she is on the outside, there’s actually a lot more to her and it only takes talking to her a little bit to see this and once she’s friends with someone, she’s absolutely loyal and wouldn’t think twice about risking her life for them.
N THEN LOOKS WISE MY FRIEND ROOMYCUPCAKE HAS DONE AN AMAZING JOB DRAWING HER OFTEN
and also a moodboard i did which sums her up p well
vvv IN DEPTH SHIT BELOW vvv
Appearance
Hair color: Ivory peach
Hair style: Medium length 2B curls down a bit past her shoulders. Generally she’ll have her bangs clipped up with the rest of her hair being left down, but during training or exercising she ties it up into a bun atop her head. On special occasions she’ll straighten it, though she’s noticed a lot of times she looks so different when she does so that people often don’t recognize her.
Eye color: A brown/amber color, though they appear to have a golden tinge in sunlight.
Eye shape: Round, though slightly upturned at the corners with a slight sharpness/
Height: 5’0” (152 cm)
Weight: 133 LB
Build: In between mesomorph and endomorph. She is on the shorter side so she’s slightly curvy, but not exactly a perfect hourglass figure.
Complexion: Golden brown skin (Light brown with gold undertones)
Cup size: 38 C
Blood type: A +
Handedness: Right handed, though because of her quirk she’s not all that bad with her left either.
Movement: She tends to drag her feet a lot.
Posture: Not the best. She slouches a lot.
Voice: She’s been told her voice gets a bit strident when she’s excited or pissed off, but generally it’s slightly deeper than the average teenage girl’s voice with a fiery and passionate touch to it.
Clothing
Uniform: When wearing her uniform, she sort of does the bare minimum. Her shirt is often never tucked in or only half way tucked in and she has a habit of just tying her uniform jacket around her waist or not wearing it at all.
Civilian clothes: Because of her quirk, her own energy often gets redistributed out with what she collected so she is often left exhausted and tired all day when she fights, which, in UA, happens every day. This leaves her tired a lot, so when she isn’t at school she doesn’t put all that much effort into her appearance. Generally, her outfits consist of graphic tee’s and plain black leggings along with a choker of any sorts, or any other casual style. It’s rare to see her dress up, but if she did she’d stick to her more alternative style and would probably only go as far as a skater skirt or something simple like that to ‘doll herself up’.
Characteristics
Strengths: She gains a lot of resilience through her stubbornness and she’s never one to back down from a fight no matter the consequences, though a lot of times this is for personal gain as she is both strangely self critical and incredibly confident at the same time. She can talk shit about herself all day long but the moment someone says something bad about her she is on them ready to fuckingg prove that she is just straight up Amazing.
Weaknesses: Well, the self critical aspect would definitely be a weakness. At the same time, the fact that she holds herself highly when she isn’t feeling insecure makes her stubborn and it is very difficult to get her to admit she’s wrong or apologize for something if she honestly thinks she was right, or if she’s just too prideful to admit that she wasn’t.
Likes: While she’s somewhat “grown out of it” since she was a child, the remnants of A.D.D are still very visible and she likes to do things that keep her occupied either in her thoughts or physically, however she finds it hard to focus often so sometimes she skips from hobby to hobby very easily.
On the other hand, she is, simply put, a lazy person and often will only spend an hour or two being active before crashing for the day. That being said, she really loves napping or any other lazy activity including binging on any garbage junk food she can find.
Dislikes: Working out. Again, she gets bored and drained pretty quickly during training so she can’t keep it up for super long which in turn makes her feel like she’s not really improving.
Because she can be prideful, her pride transfers to her friends and when people talk shit about them she can get very defensive as she takes it as a personal attack. 11/10 would deck a stranger for a friend.
Fears: She’s oddly afraid of dying. She’s heard hundreds of times that this is a fear a future hero shouldn’t have, but in her eyes this fear would just push her to stay alive if she ever is in a life threatening situation.
Hobbies: Still, her favorite interests include any kind of movie or show with plenty of action, a lot of outdoor activities, crafty things (though she’s not the best at those), and of course napping.
She also has a thing for stuffed animals because she can’t sleep without holding something so having a big plushie or pillow to hold is great, however she’s a bit embarrassed by this fact so she doesn’t like allowing people into her room unless she has a chance to hide her plushies first.
Skills: While she may be sarcastic and loud at times, she’s very good at telling when a friend isn’t feeling great and she is always the first in line with surprisingly good advice to help someone out.
Quirks: She rubs at her eyes a lot? It started out as a thing she did just because she was tired and had to rub the sleep from her eyes but now she does it almost as a nervous twitch whenever she’s in an awkward situation, but it doesn’t happen too often
She paces a lot, but she often doesn’t even realize she’s doing so.
She also uses finger guns religiously and that “ok hand symbol” game??? she is a pro at that.
Myers-Briggs Personality Type: ENFP. The ENFP personality is a true free spirit. They are often the life of the party, but unlike Explorers, they are less interested in the sheer excitement and pleasure of the moment than they are in enjoying the social and emotional connections they make with others. Charming, independent, energetic and compassionate, the 7% of the population that they comprise can certainly be felt in any crowd.
Health
Physical health: She’s fit enough to be in the hero course, but she kind of does the bare minimum when it comes to working out or eating “healthy”
Mental health: She likes to think her issues are pretty average? She doesn’t need therapy or other help with her mental issues, but just like anyone she can find herself in a depressive mood every once in a while.
Nutrition: H o r r i b l e. She’s been trying to eat better because she knows if she didn’t eat so much garbage she’d probably feel more energetic throughout the day, and her friends get on her constantly because they can tell when she hasn’t touched a Single Vegetable in days.
Sleep habits: Ahh yes, yet another thing for her friends to get on her for. She’s notorious for sending weird messages at 3 in the morning (on school nights too, c’mon mira), but she’s very 2 sided. She either goes to bed at 3 in the morning or at 9 at night and she’s v e r y grumpy when she’s super tired.

COST How Much Are Towing Fees? Towing service near Omaha NE: Millions of vehicles are towed in the US each year. Nearly every car owner has needed at least one tow in their lifetime. Towing fees can be costly if you do not have roadside assistance through your insurance, membership in a roadside assistance group, or an emergency fund set up for cases of, well, auto emergencies. Many people do not realize tow services include more than transporting a vehicle from one place to another. The fees charged by tow companies can vary depending on your circumstances, where you live, and the tow company.
Why Would I Need To Be Towed? There are several reasons that you might need to employ the services of a tow truck, and thankfully, several of them are avoidable but many are not. If you are in an accident and your car is damaged to the point that you cannot drive it, or if your car has a problem that keeps it from starting, you’re definitely going to need a tow truck. But the most common reasons for needing a tow truck are avoidable. Have you ever left your lights on accidentally and killed your battery? Keeping a pair of jumper cables in your trunk could help you avoid making the costly call. Likewise with keeping and knowing how to change a flat tire for a new one and keeping an eye on the gas gauge.
Average Tow Costs Towing service near Omaha NE: Some tow companies may charge $2.50 to $7.00 per mile. The higher dollar amount is usually reserved for heavy-duty vehicles. The cost adds up fast. Here's a ballpark estimate of what you could end up paying: Finding a mechanic nearby could really help reduce the cost of your tow. ● 5 to 7 Mile Tow: $30 to $100 ● 40 Mile Tow: $100 to $250 ● 100 Mile Tow: $250 to $600
What Services Do Tow Companies Offer? Best Towing service near Omaha NE: Keys locked in the car is a common occurrence for many. Calling a tow company to help can save the day. Check out the other services that are often available from a tow company. ● Gas Delivery ● Jump Start ● Unlock Door ● Tire Change ● Transport a Vehicle ● Pull You Out If Stuck What Impacts the Cost of a Tow? If you check directly on a tow company's website for pricing, you will probably be hard-pressed to find a dollar amount. I checked several and not one listed their prices. However, luckily the cost of a tow is fairly standard so I can at least give you a ballpark figure. Towing fees often start at $50 and can quickly get as high as $100 depending on the type of tow and where you are located. Often the base fee or often referred to as a hook-up fee is $50, regardless if you need your vehicle towed one mile or twenty. More mileage does often come with a higher price tag. A standard tow is usually cheaper than a flatbed tow. A tow due to a car accident can be substantially higher. The cost of having your vehicle towed and impounded can also be a lot higher.

COST
How Much Are Towing Fees?
Towing service near Las Vegas NV: Millions of vehicles are towed in the US each year.
Average Tow Costs
Towing service near Las Vegas NV: Some tow companies may charge $2.50 to $7.00 per mile. The higher dollar amount is usually reserved for heavy-duty vehicles. The cost adds up fast. Here's a ballpark estimate of what you could end up paying:
Finding a mechanic nearby could really help reduce the cost of your tow.
● 5 to 7 Mile Tow: $30 to $100
● 40 Mile Tow: $100 to $250
● 100 Mile Tow: $250 to $600
What Services Do Tow Companies Offer?
Best Towing service near Las Vegas NV: Keys locked in the car is a common occurrence for many. Calling a tow company to help can save the day. Check out the other services that are often available from a tow company.
● Gas Delivery
● Jump Start
● Unlock Door
● Tire Change
● Transport a Vehicle
● Pull You Out If Stuck
What Impacts the Cost of a Tow?

COST How Much Are Towing Fees? Towing service near McAllen TX: Millions of vehicles are towed in the US each year.
Average Tow Costs Towing service near McAllen TX: Some tow companies may charge $2.50 to $7.00 per mile.
Best Towing service near McAllen TX: Keys locked in the car is a common occurrence for many.

COST How Much Are Towing Fees? Towing service near McAllen TX: Millions of vehicles are towed in the US each year.
Average Tow Costs Towing service near McAllen TX: Some tow companies may charge $2.50 to $7.00 per mile.
Best Towing service near McAllen TX: Keys locked in the car is a common occurrence for many.
