oh good another fandom that has chosen a common noun for their ship contraction
reminder that it's fandom etiquette to create a nonexistent term from combining the names of the ship: not just to make it easier to search for, but also to make it easier to exclude from searches
making your ship have a real word for a term just really is bad fandom hygiene
something like glimmbow is way better than glow. something like stellch would be better than starch
i am not the fandom police, but i am absolutely a Fandom Old who remembers when this wasn't just preferred behavior but it was actually required to follow certain standardization rules for ship terminology, and i am definitely of the preference that my search functions actually work like intended...

Genya having a crush on a Male! Reader (rewrite)
Note: I changed the ending part at 4 am because I realised it was rushed…..enjoy your daily dose of doomed yaoi
Trope: angst
PS - Reader is a minor !! Please don’t be creepy thank you very much
Tumblr media
You always knew what you were. You never really was attracted to women, and honestly, you didn’t really care. When someone asked you if you had a fiancé/girlfriend, you had no problem telling them you weren’t into girls. You were very much aware that being attracted to the same gender was only gonna cause you problems, not being able to marry, not being able to have kids, not being allowed to love your partner in public.
But who cares ? You were a demon slayer. Love didn’t matter. You were gonna die sooner or later, so finding love wasn’t your priority. You had friends anyways, very good friends. One in particular.
On the other hand, Genya Shinazugawa had no idea of what sexuality was. He was always taught that men falls in love with women. I mean, its normal right ? Never in his life he has imagined that maybe, men who loved other men and women who loved other women existed. When he grew a little older, he vaguely heard of homosexuality. And don’t take it to heart, but it grossed him out at first. Boys who likes boys ? That’s so weird…why on earth would someone refuse to love a girl and date a man instead ?
-
You two met a long time ago, before you officially entered the demon slayer corps.
It was the final selection. You were about 14 years old. You had to stay in those dark, hostile mountains for 7 days, trying your best to survive against demons. You saw multiple people your age getting killed, and to be fully honest, you struggled keeping your calm (which was understandable).
While you were trying to figure out if a demon was following you, you saw a tall, black haired boy from afar. He looked around your age, and you wanted to team up with somebody to feel safer. So you came up to him. It caught him off guard that you talked to him at first, He was probably expecting to work alone.
He refused to team up with you at first, assuming that you were ”too weak” and that ”you’ll slow him down”. How rude, why would he assume things about you when you two didn’t even know each other ?
For some reason, he ended up accepting anyways.
Nothing special happened during those 7 days. You two barely spoke to eachother. Just slaying demons and trying your best to survive.
Sometimes though, you could notice him staring at you for a little too long. But you didn’t pay much attention to it.
After the final selection, You said goodbye to Genya, telling him to be careful out there, and to take care of himself. He simply ignored you. What was his problem ?
Month later, you saw Genya again during a mission. What a coincidence you thought, maybe it was a sign for you two to become friends ?
You tried your best to be as patient, as nice to Genya as possible. He ended up ”tolerating you” enough to stop him from yelling at you all the time (which was a great start !) After achieving several missions together, you two slowly grew closer. Your personality matched his surprisingly well. You learned a lot about him, and he learned a lot about you. Genya started to open up to you about his brother and his struggles, asking you for advices. You were always very patient and made sure to tell him that you’ll always be there for him, which he was grateful for. He never told you, but you were his first real friend and his best friend, ever.
But things started getting weird. Well, i wouldn’t say weird, but complicated at least.
It was the first time in a long time Genya hadn’t met someone who showed so much interest with him. You were always carefully listening to whatever he was saying, the spark in your eyes never leaving. It flattered him a lot. He admired you so much, the way you fight, the way you spoke, the way you act with people. There was a desire in him that wanted to become closer to you. The more he hung out with you, the more he wanted you to spend time with him.
He didn’t know what that feeling was at first, obviously. He thought it was nothing but pure platonic appreciation. For him, being jealous whenever someone gets a little too close to you was completely normal. For him, his heart thundering in his chest whenever you complimented him was nothing but ordinary. For him, feeling his cheeks burning when your face was too close to his was a common thing. It’s normal right ? Boys don’t like boys. People like that are absurd. He’s not one of them. He’ll never be one of them.
One day, Genya had a big fight with his older brother, the wind Hashira. You hated that man. You hated the way he treated your dear friend. You had warned Genya about Sanemi a lot, telling him to never say anything about him eating demons. You knew damn well what he could do, and you wanted to do anything to prevent that from happening.
But Genya just didn’t listen. You knew he was stubborn, so when you saw him bleeding from his cheek after returning from the wind Pillar’s domain, you weren’t surprised.
You were anxious, you were tired, but you couldn’t be mad. Not at him. Genya was devastated from what just happened, he needed your presence and your support. You knew his relationship with his brother was putting him into a lot of pressure, the only thing you had to do was to find a way to cheer him up a little.
You didn’t have much time to do something for him. It was evening, shops were closed, so you couldn’t buy him any watermelon, like you usually did. It didn’t really matter anyway, Genya needed your reassurance, nothing else. So you helped him clean his wound and stayed with him for the rest of the day.
The sun was set, the night was slowly rising. You had to go home soon. You looked at your friend one last time. He looked back at you.
He loves you, you love him. It was pretty obvious, but ignoring that feeling was easier. You knew Muzan was going to attack the corps sooner or later anyway, you’ll probably die soon, but why does it matter ? So many thoughts running in your mind, oh how you wished life was easier.
You stare into Genya’s eyes. How perfect this man is. And suddenly your hand feels empty, aching to hold his. Suddenly you want to grab his face and kiss him, feel his lips against yours, fully love him the way you always wanted to.
But you can’t do this, you can’t do this to him, you can’t ruin you two’s friendship you knew he cherished. So you stay quiet, suddenly avoiding his gaze, looking down at the floor. You say goodbye, you tell him to take care of himself, to stay safe. He smiles slightly, waving at you.
And you’ll never know, you’ll never know how much he wished you could’ve done it, you’ll never know how much he craved your affection. You’ll never know how much he adored you, how much he needed you.

Hello! in your essay about how cotag is doomed yaoi (lol), you said Co-worker is deeply insecure and puts up a front? ig it would make doppleganger!co-worker more tragic but i wanted to hear more of your thoughts on that ^^
Dropping everything and rising from my depression bed to write this . Thank you anon i needed an opportunity to yap about Coworker because I love him
(Elevator Hitch spoilers and Coworker analysis undercut)
Lets start with his personality. Coworker, as we all know, is a flamboyant and overconfident character. He constantly brags about his position within the workplace, and always tries to one up Protag by taking credit for his ideas or trying to prove that he’s stronger than the other. This makes most see him as an obnoxious character— nothing else. Yet, there’s a reason as to why he acts this way.
People who act this way often are insecure themselves. They put up this front to not only give themselves a false sense of security, but also they want others to respect and praise them just as much. This is what Coworker goes through, and there’s multiple reasons that can prove this.
Despite the fact he’s not very helpful at all during the game, he still tries to initiate that he’s the more superior and capable one compared to Protag. He’ll take credit for Protag’s ideas, and when Protag does ask him for his help, he goes on to boast about himself even more. One example is when Protag tries to open the Elevator door, but isn’t able to by himself. He goes onto ask Coworker if he could try budging the door open with him, and he responds with this:
Tumblr media
He mocks Protag, calling him weak. Yet when he’s unable to open the door himself, there’s a moment where he breaks.
Tumblr media
Obviously, this was put in for shits and giggles, but it can say a lot about Coworker. He belittles others so he can feel better about himself, but once it’s shown that he’s not as great as he claims to be, he begins to break.
Let’s also talk about his position at the company for a moment. When you first enter floor 6, Coworker and Protag have this dialogue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He insists that the reason he’s such a highly respected employee within the company is because of himself. However, it is revealed that his nepotism is the actual reason for his position.
Sure, he may talk about how he’s been at the company for ages, and he’s “the full time employee of the month”, but his efforts truly don’t matter when his nepotism is the only reason he’s stable within the company. This makes sense when you also take into account out of touch he is within the game. He hardly ever helps, and when he does, he’s never truly useful. Once he’s in a situation where his nepotism can’t help him, he’s worthless.
His items are also very important to him, much like how his title is something he cherishes and brags about the most. This may not seem very important in this analysis, but it’s something I wanna point out regardless. Coworker is never willing to give up any of his items, even if it would help them escape the elevator. He supposedly lies to Protag and says he doesn’t have anything on him when Protag asks, Coworker doesn’t give away his lighter nor his cigars willingly, and he adamantly refuses to throw his shoe into the “darkness”.
Tumblr media
What do all of these items have in common? Well, they’re all expensive. Of course, nobody would want to give up items that cost them a fortune, but in Protag’s and Coworker’s situation it’s rather dire. Yet, he still refuses and lies, and that could be connected to how he uses materialism and his nepotism as a false sense of security.
Although, while Coworker is unhelpful, that doesn’t exactly mean he has zero clue of what’s happening around him. He may cover it up by acting clueless when Protag asks if he remembers any of the deaths that occurred, but that’s yet another example of him being fearful.
Even if Coworker remembering the deaths is just an implication or a theory, it would make a lot more sense for him to be distant from what occurs. It’s not because he is desensitized, but because he desperately wants to distract himself. For example, when he sees the sight of blood, he becomes stressed, and he wants to get out immediately.
Tumblr media
When he has to face the reality of the workplace, along with his fears, he breaks. He’s no longer in his safe space now that he’s reminded of the graphic nature of the office. Coworker is insistent on leaving, or at least for Protag to investigate the floor by himself, because he can’t hide how disturbed he truly is for once.
Speaking of the doppelgängers in your ask, false Coworker is actually a BIG factor in this analysis, and it goes along with the last part. After you get the Stranger Danger ending, Coworker gives you this advice:
Tumblr media
This is one of the rare times he helps, and this teaches you to go for false Coworker instead of false Protag. Meaning that Coworker KNOWS he’s easier to break, and that he’s way more desperate than Protag. That he’s “the weaker one”.
Then, once Protag tricks the doppelgängers, he says this with an uneasy expression:
Tumblr media
He felt the desperation from false Coworker because of his insecurities that he hides with his narcissism. False Coworker is the personification of the side he masks with a hubristic personality. What makes this even worse too, is that Coworker would know this is inevitable if he remembers all the previous endings. You cannot proceed with the rest of the game if you keep going for false Protag. You NEED to go for false Coworker, because he’s the one with little power in reality, and is easy to fool out of the two. No matter what, Coworker has to acknowledge the unfortunate truth. That he’s weak, desperate, and fearful. He also says after this that Protag “would be a good fit for the company”, meaning he has witnessed people who are as weak as him get baited and suffer because of it.
This is why he puts up a front. If he lets his insecurities slip, then there’ll be consequences, and he can’t let that happen when he’s “the star employee”.
Also, I may be taking this way too seriously because this was definitely meant to just be a silly fun fact, but this info provided by Rachel is also important !!
Tumblr media
Coming from someone who knows another person who has done this before— drinking on the job is used as an escape to get through the day. People who have a lot going on in their lives, who can’t even find an ounce of comfort within work, use alcohol as an unhealthy coping mechanism. This is yet again another example of Coworker using escapism to just survive at the office and detach himself from the day to day horrors he’s subjected to.
There’s probably more that I may discuss later, but for now these are the biggest things I could find.
Even if this is reaching, it is canon that Coworker is mentally ill. I’m unable to insert the image because I’ve reached the limit on mobile, but it was a shitpost drawn by Rachel saying Coworker is a “person who’s mentally ill as hell but comes off as well enough to be considered put together”. You can find it on the Elevator Hitch official contect channel in sigcord, or maybe on her tumblr. So!! I am right LMAFOKDNFM
But I digress, thank you all for reading another Elevator Hitch analysis (that’s more or less a dump of my thoughts) <3
Btw if there’s a typo or if a part doesn’t make sense be patient with me because I wrote a majority of this with a headache LOL

what is your least favorite modern Sonic game?
Based on the main modern Sonic games I have played as of posting this(I can’t just up and buy the newest consoles okay), that game would have to be, Shadow the Hedgehog.
I could go and talk about how the whole thing with Shadow being related to aliens feels like the writers just pulled it out of their asses, or how the intended darker and edgier approach falls flat. But those things are not the ultimate reason why I’m not very fond of this game. It’s just not a fun game to play. It’s just a chore.
Sonic Heroes may not be perfect and at best is just an okay game, and Sonic 06 may be broken and can be very frustrating at certain moments, but, I was still able to beat their main and final story campaigns. It took more patience than what should probably be required, but I still managed to at least finish them. Shadow the Hedgehog, on the other hand, is a slog to get through even when taking the easiest and most basic neutral route. Every time I try to pick this game back up I quit soon after, the game is just that frustrating and monotonous to play. The only reason I know what happens in the game’s story is due to resorting to watching cutscenes and gameplay online.
I really like it when games give you the option of having of multiple alternate endings. But it was implemented here in the worst possible way. The game being such a slog and chore would not be so bad if it at least had the courtesy to let you go back to a stage you already unlocked and branch off to another path. But no, you have to start a new game, and work from the very first stage, every single time! Each route isn’t even long in it’s actual length, especially depending on which route you choose to take, but the fake difficulty and unfair deaths will definitely make them feel longer than they actually are. It’s all just a cheap way to pad out a game that would take maybe an hour or two at most to complete! It’s not even like Undertale where your actions actually hold weight and have consequences in whatever route you take. Black Doom will keep saying that your disobedience will be severely punished, but he’ll quickly forget or not give a shit if you just continue to flip flop back and forth on which side you go with each stage. You could help Black Doom blow up an entire fucking city and Sonic will just casually talk to you like nothing happened, just as long as you choose to pursue a less villainous route right after!
Even the multiple alternate endings you could end up with don’t feel like you really earned them. Nearly every single alternate ending is just Shadow saying he’s finally got all of the Chaos Emeralds, there’s some changes in dialog and which character you may be partnered with(depending on the route you take), Shadow proclaims some conclusion or truth he thinks he’s figured out about himself, he then says, “This is who I am!”, and half the time he karate chops Eggman to death. There’s only two alternate endings that actually stuck out to me: The one where Shadow says that his purpose in life is to protect Space Colony ARK and the legacy behind it or something, and the one where it’s implied that Shadow committed suicide afterward. That’s it! All of the other alternate endings are forgettable.
Now unlike a lot of people who jump on the hate bandwagon towards the added guns and weapons, I actually like them. Not only do they make it way easier to take down enemies and their dreaded health bars, but it helps change up the monotonous gameplay a bit. Unfortunately, that’s where the good parts of the gameplay and mechanics end for me. It’s super obvious this game was made using Sonic Heroes’ engine and recycling assets from it. The levels in, Sonic Heroes, were at least mostly designed to give some leeway with the more slippery mechanics and other flaws in the gameplay. But hold on everyone! If the lack of momentum and other janky things in gameplay tested your patience in Heroes, well it comes back with a vengeance in, Shadow the Hedgehog, with levels and more careful platforming not made nearly as much with it in mind.
One last thing I think I should mention about this game, and also a good part of why I’m not really a fan of this game. For a game that wants to show you how totally darker and edgier it is, that edge is pretty dull. Outside of some unintentionally funny moments, and actually genuine sad or touching moments peppered throughout this game, it’s just overall dull. Not even the game’s music really stick out to me. Outside of the main opening theme, and the ending songs, only about maybe a handful of tracks in the game’s soundtrack really stick out to me. Tone deaf just seems to be a good way to describe this game in general.
The recycling of Sonic Heroes’ assets and character models don’t help with the intended dark and edgier approach with the game, either. Then there’s the new models they made for the human characters outside of Eggman. Commander Yaoi Hands, President Billboard Shoulders, and Insect Eyes Maria. I’ll never get over how hideous Maria looks in the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what hurts me the most about this game? Giving Shadow his own game to rap up his story arc, and explain exactly what happened back then, was a perfectly good idea and concept. With actual care put in, and having people who know what they’re doing behind it, this could have easily been a great way to actually expand Shadow’s backstory and character. But no. It’s obvious this was made and shoved out as fast as possible to capitalize on Shadow’s popularity while it was still at it’s peak. To this day I still think Shadow as a character deserved better than this.

So I had an Idea
I made a Hetalia au. I didn’t understand why people always had America have states as children when you could have regions instead. Then it evolved into this. I’m not sorry.
America does have “kids” but their not states. They’re regions. There’s the Southern country, Mary, West Coast, Jin, Northern middle, Louis, Southeast, Fred, and Northeast, Belka. Alfred, of course, really doesn’t want the country's meeting them, though he has different reasons for each.
Mary is a pretty face with a dark side. She’s pretty nice until you make her mad, in which case your social life will be ruined within the week. If she doesn’t break out her crazy gun skills, in which case you’re doomed, because there is no gun she doesn’t know how to handle, hide, or aim with terrifying accuracy.
Jin is the awesome non-binary. They like dressing completely differently each day and confusing people not in the know until they ask, which is when they start trolling the poor fools.
Louis is like a cross between Canada and Prussia. Really cool in a dorky way, loves and is loved by his siblings, and remains unnoticed by everyone else unless he wants their attention. Basically an awesome ninja with total chill.
Fred is that one dude that nothing fazes. Ten-foot snakes? Seen it. Crocs? He wrestles them twice a week. Crowds of screaming people at an amusement park? Annoying but manageable. Voodoo mistress summoning demons, ripping a hole in time and space to unleash dark entities beyond mortal comprehension? D'arvit, Barbara, we talked about this last week! He can handle everything that’s thrown at him with the skill and grace of a person who's given up trying to control their life. If you hurt someone he cares about, nothing will prevent him with sending you into some of the stuff he deals with. Whether or not you come back is up to you.
Belka… is strange, but also badass. On multiple levels. For starters, since her culture is literally the international melting pot, she is prone to having long, in depth arguments with herself over various things that usually make sense to no one else. Also, she is best at the Tumblr surf. She is in nearly every fandom. She’s the kind of shipper that won’t comment on your choices, but laughs in the face of most canon. She is the multi-shipper yaoi fangirl who listens to your rant on a ship she hates, and then just nods and says “You have a good point, but have you considered…” without ever making you feel your ship is invalid. She can’t resist headcanons, even if she hates the ship, she can’t hate headcanons. She never sleeps unless her siblings make her or she collapses, has trouble feeling hunger and needs to be told when she should be hungry, but at the same time just wants to mother the shit out of all her younger siblings. She is also a genius. Equations with six variables? What a nice brain teaser! Quantum physics? Don’t you have anything harder? And if you hurt her sibling she will use this brilliance to ruin your life. She will dig up every dirty secret you’ve ever had, every regretful action, and air it, slowly. She won’t attack immediately. She’d wait until you thought it was safe, and then bring it all crashing about your ears. And she wouldn’t feel a speck of guilt for it.
Alfred is afraid Mary will get into a shoot-out with Switzerland. Alfred is afraid of Jin being bullied for how people stereotype them. Alfred is afraid of whether Louis will be heard. Alfred is afraid of Fred being mistaken for apathetic when he’s not. Alfred is afraid of what Belka will do if anyone insults her siblings. And he’s especially afraid of what will happen if someone makes any of them cry. Because hell hath no fury like badass who’s sibling you insult. There would be blood.
Of course the meeting is Belka’s fault. She just couldn’t stand being forced to keep her mouth shut while her Dad talked for her. It’s the 21st century, she can speak for herself! With that in mind she gathered her forces for one mission. Replace their Dad for one meeting so they can see what it’s like. So they tie him up and drag him to the meeting hall, because of course their going to embarrass him for their first impression. What are children for?
They arrive late of course, so all the countries are grumbling about it, when the doors bang open to an interesting sight. Five teenagers walk in, in a star point formation with a bound and gagged Alfred in the middle. Every one stops and stares at them.
From Mary in her blond, wiry, 5’ 11” glory, in her Sunday best with multiple guns at her hip.
To  willowy, 6’ 0”, Jin, in their androgynous harem pants and crop top with a sheer shirt over it, long cocoa colored hair cascading out of a high ponytail, over their chocolate skin to flutter about their waist.
To Louis, 6’ 3” and lean muscles, with ink black hair and a lumberjack shirt with goggles up on top of his head.
To Fred, also 5’ 11”, with much more defined muscles, freckles across a slight tan and pale, honey brown hair hidden under a news cap.
And in the front, Belka, in all her 5’ 6” glory, amber-red eyes with streaks of grey gleaming behind glasses, long ginger hair flowing down to her knees with a headband to keep it out of her face,  black fancy shorts with suspenders over a unbuttoned fuschia dress shirt, a tee-shirt with the words “I tell science puns periodically” under it, and a pair of knee-high combat boots to complete the look.
Alfred just looked like he was suffering internally.
The countries stared. The kids stared back. It was Russia who broke the silence. “And who might you be? You don’t mean to threaten us just because you can take America, da?” He clutched his pipe threateningly. Every other country tensed and Belka…
 Belka laughed.
