This might be a half-baked theory, but I wonder how much of the "think of the children!!" ideals that are almost... aimed at women rely on the idea of women as Forever Children.
What I notice is that a lot of these ideas of corruption in youth are feminized in a way that evokes motherhood, but I also notice that many people blur the lines between women or anybody forced into or expected to be women and children so that they are as one.

You know how there's a Yoshi and Kirby yarn game? I want a pokemon yarn game. I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing all my little yarn pokemon and having them in a video game would be especially cool because they could have all the little extra details and effects I can't quite make in real life

Links to my crochet patterns! I'll update this list when I make new ones, so if you're seeing this as a reblog it might be worth clicking through to the original post to see if any have been added - round bee pattern - spider buddy - little axolotl (for sale on Ravelry or free on tumblr) - fluffy mini bunnies - little t-rex - little llama - lemon earrings (free on Ravelry and tumblr) - moth (but no wing pattern, so it's more of a creature base??) - Marie Kondo (aka a doll pattern base) - a tooth - squirrel - tiny scythe - tiny punk - spinnable dreidel - mini blorbo - peas in a pod - happy pill - void cat - mothman and the skeleton - Pride Moth (different full moth pattern, including wings) - mini cauldron (with or without potion inside) The rest of these patterns are for sale for $2 in my Ravelry store: - mini manatee - fluffy baby seal - little crow, phoenix, and peacock - mini cthulhu - Velociraptors (based on Jurassic Park not on real science) - basket the fish (idk why I put this one behind a paywall, someone remind me and I'll make it free when I have more time) I wrote these over many years and at many different points in my pattern making journey, so if you are trying to make one and it doesn't make sense, please let me know. I've learned a lot about making patterns since I wrote some of these and I don't always remember to go back and update them (the ones that are for sale should be fine it's some of the earlier free ones I'm not sure about lol)

There's a lot of validity in the idea that older Bakugo is a traumatized pro-hero with major PTSD... but you know what's kinda fucked up to think about? The fact that Bakugo is also a 22-year-old pro-hero with major PTSD even before that, too.
It's almost easy to imagine that things are actually better when he's older (the therapy finally a routine, the trauma long set and on the path to being healed)... and that it's his whole 20s that are spent as a pool of disaster trying to recover from the war(s).
He looks back and barely even remembers being twenty, much less twenty-five or twenty-seven. Barely remembers how little he slept, not at the hands of trying to balance hero work and getting a degree at the same time, but just out of the pure insomnia that came from trying to move on and every nightmare attached.
Hardly ever showering, never shaving (not that he ever grew much of a beard, but the facial hair was definitely there. There's pictures of him on the news with an awkward, grown out haircut and patches on facial hair that make him look positively... immature), barely even eating more than a few protein bars or an energy jelly drink-a day. It's a blur, and his friends are hardly there to pick him up out of it because they're all going through it, too. Somewhat.
It's definitely weird if you meet him during this period. He's not all there, at least, not all of the time. He doesn't really register your interactions, the friendship you extend to him (a younger, or ever older, version of him would've shown you that deep seeded ferocity in response, tried to bite the hand that fed him, even if it were love... but 20s Bakugo... doesn't seem to notice). Even though only one of his eyes is clouded over, the good one never seems to brighten up.
There's definitely moments when the old him shines through: when he's with Deku, when he's in the midst of battle, when he finds out that Todoroki still does a shitty job at chopping scallions. But it's a long time before he's even close to the same, able to step out from underneath the fog of simply surviving and into the sunshine of recovering.
But I think sticking through it with him is worth it.
(It's a weird moment, a happy moment, the first time you realize that Bakugo has changed. That the pouring rain outside hasn't bothered him since he showed up at your apartment. He forgot his umbrella, he's been quite careless ever since the war—wet and shaggy hair frizzed up, cheeks red from cold—but he doesn't seem to mind, with his bare feet up on your coffee table, his eyes gazing out the window. You hand his tea, and instead of gulping it down in one go, letting it burn in his throat, he winces at the heat.
"Tastes like shit," he says, and you laugh because it always does. Just this time, he noticed.)

Before domestication comes a good, thorough hosing down
So, uh. This was supposed to be a wet beast wednesday and "stinky sewer troll" joke in one. And then it got entirely away from me. I continue ignoring canon and living in my made up timeline of Severing Hell's Leash (if you look closely, you can see Angor wear his ring!), and in that timeline he needs a shower.
Also version without the water below the cut

so i did end up making his silly little doily. it's not terribly difficult but i'll put what i did under the cut
chain 4, slst into first chain to create a circle
chain 3/chainless dc/stacked sc (your choice, i do chainless dc personally i think it looks best) in the ring. 11 more dc in the ring. slst into 3rd chain/first stitch
chain 1, sc in the same stitch, ch3, sc in next stitch around, slst into first sc
slst to the middle of the next space, ch1 and sc in the space. ch4 and sc into the next space all the way around
continue to repeat the previous rounds adding one chain to each space until you reach 8 chains (slst to the middle of the space, ch1 and sc in the space, chain x, sc in the next stitch around, slst into first sc)
slst one into the next space, ch3/chainless dc/stacked sc to begin the first petal, 7 more dc in the space, slst into next sc, 8dc in next space, slst into next sc around. slst into the final sc from the previous round and tie off.

I’m rewatching TVD to make notes on Bonnie for fics. Did the writers give this girl any hobbies (except cheerleading)? Career goals? Say what she studied in college? Like??? Apparently she lived with her dad full time??? I saw her bedroom maybe once? Her mom’s entire arc was weak af. I forgot about the whole Jamie relationship. She went to visit her dad’s side of the family. Great. Where? Ffs.
Bonnie Bennett deserved so much better than this nonsense.
It’s easy to imagine headcanons based on her personality, but the fact that I can’t pull any small details like that from the show itself is entirely fucked.

am on a plane tomorrow (visiting in-laws for holiday week) and i have decided to try to crochet a cat-ear hat, which still only involves making rectangles so it should at least be easy??
(i did end up making handwarmers to go with the scarf for MIL, which i did do in the round but lost track of the rows at one point so they are a little. janky.)

Random stats and insights
The last six Pokemon I crocheted, I timed how long it took. Shedinja 4 hours, Guzzlord 15.5 hours, Lokix 3.5 hours, Iron Treads 7.5 hours, Miraidon 12 hours, Koraidon 15 hours.
I specifically picked complicated Pokemon (Guzzlord, Miraidon, Koraidon) to see what the upper limit would be, and I'm confident that I can crochet (what I consider to be complex/more detailed) Pokemon in less than 16 hours total each the first time around. That includes the time spent physically crocheting, checking the reference models, redoing parts, sewing, writing notes. Does not include break times.
Guzzlord (16hr) didn't have so much redoing but it did have physically a lot of parts, many of them small, and that took the most time. Koraidon (15hr) similarly had a lot of small parts (feathers, spiky bits), but what took the most time was having to redo major aspects like the torso and legs and wheel to get the proportions better. Neither of those were especially difficult in terms of figuring out HOW to crochet them; it was mostly that there were a lot of parts. Miraidon (12hr), on the other hand, was more of a challenge to figure out how because it's atypical of a Pokemon to be so machinelike, so that took some time.
Iron Treads (7.5hr) I thought would be medium difficulty because of the machine thing. The part that took the longest was embroidering the outer lines on the treads (they kept coming out more crooked than I wanted) but otherwise was straightforward to design.
Lokix (3.5hr) I also thought would be medium difficulty because of the thinness of the legs. I didn't even know before starting that the back legs swiveled down, but that didn't take overly long to figure out. (Also I still have to take pictures of that because it's a cool effect. The thinness makes it kind of frail and difficult to pose though)
Shedinja (4hr) seemed like it would be pretty simple! The most difficult part was figuring out the color changes on the body. I thought it would be more difficult to make the back an actual hollow hole, but that was pretty simple. Actually the most difficult part was that Saturn my cat was on my arm for a significant chunk of the time crocheting and she surprisingly did attack the crochet once.
Small sample size but the results track with how I've been working on the others so far. I didn't do anything too differently from ones I haven't timed (crochet while watching TV or listening to music, varying levels of assistance from Saturn, taking regular breaks, etc). I've always known it took a few hours at least for any Pokemon. It's kind of weird to put actual numbers to it.
