all the tears and the fears and the lies and the cries of the past - Piers/Leon, past Krauser/Leon - Chapter 5/6
Leon looked up at Jill, then, and Piers again, before he went on. “We’re shit out of luck here. It’s either you leave me here and I try to give you instructions where to go, or we’ll all go.” There was the third option of just huddling in here until backup came but he knew exactly none of them wanted to take that one so he didn’t even say it out loud.
Jill was the one who broke the following silence. “You’re right. We don’t have much choice.”
“Two and a half person rescue team,” Leon said with a faked grin. “Fantastic.”
- Or, they set out to go help Chris.
#nivannedy#piers nivans#leon s kennedy#leon kennedy#also features wesker and krauser#and chris who has the worst day (but no lines lol)#and very distraught jill#...also valenfield if you wanna (could be just. them.)#my fics#my nivannedy fics#this chapter is a bit gory#only one more to go now

It's always a bit concerning when different meta turns into something akin to discourse.
#did i miss like a whole chapter of tumblr stuff while i was at con ??#i stick by everyone has their right to their own opinions and interpretations and whatever#but i dislike how one singular person is considered the expert and is put on a pedestal.#to the point that they're mentioned when someone doesn't agree with a take#unless they're the creator i'm not taking what they say as canon. at all. widely accepted or not. because it /isn't/.#because widely accepted doesn't equal accurate or right#no matter how well researched it is either. because i still don't think one singular person is 100% right when it comes to /everything/.#except the creator or creators themselves#popularity is just popularity#also yeah i'm bias too because i really really dislike a lot of their takes and could counter a lot of them too but it's pointless.#there can be good interpretations and shitty interpretations. but that's the beauty of fandom spaces#thank you for coming to my tedtalk#personal#i would love to post my own meta and probably will sometime when i grow a second braincell. so it's a little less jumbled insanity.#also it's mostly krauser centric so that has little to no bearing on leon.#also we're talking about a series that's almost as old as me#that has multiple timelines and retcons and inconsistencies and a novelization and live action movies.#like /come on people./#we all know where i stand when it comes to ID too tbh

"Stray Dog, Stray Wolf" a Fatal Fury novel by Akihiko Ureshino

In 2008, Akihiko Ureshino (same guy who wrote KOF's official novels) wrote a 27-chapter official Fatal Fury novel called "Stray Dog, Stray Wolf."
The novel ties loose ends at the end of Fatal Fury, following Geese's death. The main characters are Terry, Rock and Billy, and supporting characters include Laurence Blood, Duck King and Wolfgang Krauser (YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT, KRAUSER, ALIVE.)
It was published digitally in Japan straight to readers' mobile phones making it EXTREMELY hard to find years later. Fans who saved the text refuse to share it, making it very rare.
But good news! Someone got his hands on the novel and is currently sharing it in English. This is a must-read for people who enjoy delving deeper into Fatal Fury's lore.
The first chapter is... *chef kiss*
Don't believe me?? Take a look:
Clearing his throat, Duck looked at Rock again.
The band-aid on his nose was the least of his problems. He also had a cut on his lip, and one black eye. It was clear that someone had given him a brutal beating. Duck suddenly understood why Bob mentioned a panda.
“Did you get into an argument with some other brat?”
“A street fight, not an argument,” muttered Rock, still looking down.
“Ohh, you sure know how to talk back.”
It wasn’t something a kid that wasn’t even ten years old would say. Duck grinned, because in Rock’s tone he could perceive his dissatisfaction, and the fact that Rock was trying to act beyond his age.
“Then, who was your opponent? Judging by your face, he gave you a royal beating.”
“Terry…”
“Huh?”
“I lost to Terry…,” Rock said, covering the bruise on his eye.
Duck pondered the answer for a second before a shocking realization spread all over his face.
“What!? You mean you tried to fight against Terry?”
“…” Rock nodded, dejected.
Duck smacked the side of his neatly shaven head, frowning.
“That’s not a street fight, then. That’s actually child ab###,” he muttered.
“You’re wrong. I challenged him. I told him to not hold back and fight for real because I could take it.”
“Are you serious?”
Duck had heard that Terry was teaching martial arts to Rock, who despite being a young kid showed great potential.
But no matter the potential, an adult shouldn’t be going all out on a kid who was barely six or seven years old. Even young Rock should have known that much.
But still, Rock had decided to face Terry head-on, and had probably decided to be beaten up by him.
That was Duck’s best guess as to what was going on inside the head of that young boy, who had been born to misfortune.

To Be Alone With You
Between the Bones (Leon x GN! Reader) - Chapter 47
You and Leon steal a few final moments together.
This chapter is 𝗡𝗦𝗙𝗪 18+ only please!
(Cross-posted from Ao3)
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Chapter Index
TW for unprotected sex.
Guys, PLEASE wrap it before you tap it, regardless of gender or biology, I do not condone these idiots and their behavior. Also oral sex (reader receiving) and some dom/sub undertones (Leon mostly sub, but they switch it up a little). Anyway, please enjoy the filth!
“So . . . you think there’ll be fireworks?”
Leon’s brow arched as he looked over at Williams, and the tall woman looked back at him with an innocent expression.
“What?” she went on. “Krauser can’t be that much of a stick in the mud. We could say it’s mortar shell training or something. Besides, haven’t we earned some real celebration time?”
Valeria, who walked on Williams’ other side, scoffed. “Krauser might be in favor of that, but Reed and Hellman? Assholes probably didn’t even want to give us the day off.”
A fact that Leon had to agree with - and one he was all too glad hadn’t been the case. The agents - alongside Krauser - had worked everyone to the bone these final two weeks. Leon had dragged himself through mud and barbed wire, run farther than he ever had in his life, taken bruise after bruise in the training yard and shot after shot at the firing range, all in preparation for what tomorrow held. The beginning of the end. The final test before he and the men and women beside him were no longer trainees, but agents. Weapons in an arsenal for a war unlike anything seen before. There might have been no chance to breathe before that final hurdle, were it not for the day it happened to be.
He’d never been one to savor national holidays until now. Even Reed and Hellman were forced to honor Independence Day though, it seemed. And so, on this, the final Sunday before the test, the STRATCOM trainees were given another much needed day off.
“Yeah,” Leon deadpanned, “a day off that you two really wanted to spend strolling through the woods with me.” Which, in truth, he was a little grateful for. The rest of the squad had planned something of a party in the evening, but the rest of the day? Leon had wanted to spend it with you. It was his last chance to, after all. It had made him more than a little disappointed when you’d told him that Doc needed your help in the infirmary in the morning, and he hadn’t seen you in the hours since then. So, even if he knew that he was likely just being dragged along with Dina and Valeria for the sake of cover, he appreciated the chance to keep his mind off the impending test.
The thing was - Williams had never been a great liar, even with all the CIA training going on. And now, as Leon made his remark, her innocent look slipped in favor of a knowing smile.
Valeria shot a grin over at him - one that didn’t cover her obvious sarcasm but did divert his attention. “What can I say? You’re just such good company.”
Leon laughed, but shook his head all the same. “Well . . . you two just let me know when you want me to ‘lose you guys’ in the woods.”
Williams’ smile widened, and Leon took that expression to mean that he’d hit the nail on the head. “You think we’d ditch you to go have some fun by ourselves?” she asked, as if the very thought offended her.
Didn’t change Leon’s answer. “Yes.”
Valeria laughed, then. “Well, you’d be right. But that’s not the only reason we’re out here, you know.” She’d make a good agent - Leon already knew that, but in the moment that followed? He was made completely sure of it in the nonchalant tone of her voice. The measured control she had over her expression.
The way she didn’t even look at the movement Leon couldn’t see on his other side.
The way she didn’t give away that there was a fourth person there, until there was a hand at his arm and he only just stopped a blunted knife from meeting his throat.
Leon froze, but smiled all the same because he didn’t need to look to know who was at his back. Not with the way Dina and Valeria were grinning at him. Not with the way your body pressed against his.
“It’s too easy to sneak up on you, Kennedy,” you told him, and Leon huffed a little laugh.
“Thought my friends here were going to be watching my back,” he said, looking over at his walking companions - who, of course, were taking steps further down the forest path, backing away from you and Leon with knowing smiles.
“And Krauser would tell you not to use your friends as a crutch,” Valeria smirked.
Leon returned the look, unable to be anything other than excited, he found. Because if you had coordinated this with Valeria and Dina as he suspected you had, that meant that he was going to be spending the day with you after all. “What a betrayal,” he sighed, but there was no real hurt in his words. Just as there was no real intent to harm when he shook off your hold on his arm and leveraged his body, sending you arcing over his shoulder. You grunted as you rolled, coming into a crouch, your knife still in your hand and your lips carved into a wicked smile.
Your eyes met, and for the first time in weeks - since Fort Benning, really - Leon glimpsed something he’d missed seeing in you.
Fire.
“Not bad,” you praised, rising to your feet but keeping your knife up, your stance ready. God, he’d missed this , he realized. Not necessarily the act of crossing blades with you, but the challenge of your will crashing against his own. Your bodies against each other, the line between lesson and love blurring until it became non-existent. And, as Dina and Valeria continued to move on past the two of you, Leon knew to expect exactly that feeling.
“Have fun, you two. Meet you back in an hour,” Valeria called over her shoulder as the two of them disappeared down the winding path, leaving you and Leon alone. Payment for the nights Leon had spent on fire watch, when he’d awoken Valeria and Dina to have an hour for themselves. Hours and moments stolen, and now the same opportunity given to him.
An hour, with just the two of you and the green around you.
It would never be enough, but he would take what he could get. Even if that hour started with you lunging at him, your knife aimed at his heart. He blocked easily, just as you’d taught him to; taking a step to the side and reaching for your wrist, trying to trap your hand against his chest. Two weeks ago, he would have been able to disarm you with that move. Now, you just stepped in with him, your knee rising fast just as Leon twisted his torso to leverage your wrist.
He stepped back just in time, letting one hand leave your knife to block your knee - and it was enough for you to wrench your blade free, the dulled edge scraping across Leon’s chest as it went.
And God, the smile you gave him when you felt that . . . it was only fuel to his fire.
He looked at you then, the soldier who had somehow stolen his heart in all this mess, and he almost laughed because, well, for once, he felt like the odds were even. Not because your injury had brought you down to his level, but because you’d raised him up to yours. Through hours and days and months, you had given him the ability to stand against you now. Krauser may have given him the skills, but you? Leon knew now that you were his strength. The reason he pushed himself to be better, the firm hand that had pulled him up from the dirt. Then, you had been unarmed and Leon had been unsure. You’d been a mystery, and he’d thought you a monster. Now . . . now Leon could scarcely imagine a world or a life without you in it.
And now he would face you down, the final time a mirror of the first.
“That the best you’ve got?” Leon challenged, not because you weren’t giving him your best, but because he wanted to see your fire. He wanted those cinder-stares and the burn of your touch. He wanted it more than he could remember wanting anything, because this might be the last time he could-
You severed that line of thought with another attack, a series of slashes that Leon managed to successfully defend against. He managed a push kick to create some distance between the two of you, and the tension between the two of you came to a simmer as your eyes locked together.
“You want my best?” You asked, raising a brow and letting your smile turn wicked. “Then come get it.”
Maybe Williams had been on to something after all.
Maybe there would be fireworks.
⧫⧫⧫
The battle - and it truly felt like one - traveled off the dirt path and into the woods. Between trees and around fallen debris, you and Leon traded blows and crossed blades. Use your surroundings , Krauser had told you, and damned if you weren’t going to prove a good student. You led Leon through the woods just as you planned, either retreating and forcing him to follow after you, or pressing the attack to get him back on course.
To get him where you needed to be.
The trouble was that herding an opponent as smart and skilled as Leon was harder than it looked. You learned that when he too took advantage of the forest around him, putting trees between him and you, grinning like the smug bastard he could be when he routed you successfully . . .
Of course, you would do the same to him; knocking him into the brush, forcing him in the direction you needed him to go. You were nearly there, nearly at that perfect place . . . but then in a few moves, your plan came a little unraveled.
You’d lost sight of him - just for a second or two, but it was enough. Enough that, as you scanned the woods for him, he could come at you sideways. You swung at him and he ducked just beneath your arm, rising on the other side at your back. With a grunt, you swung backwards at him, but too late to avoid the block he raised. Too slow to escape him trapping your forearm in his grip, his other hand bracing at your shoulder.
The pressure he applied there, combined with him hooking one of your legs out from under you was meant to send you straight down. Trouble was that you happened to catch yourself, and you stumbled in an awkward arc.
Right into a goddamn tree.
You barely managed to reach up with your free hand, bracing against the worst of it, but the bark still scraped against your skin - forearm and face both. You grunted at the pain, but it was Leon who’s reaction bore the most concern. He called your name in surprise, and you felt his grip on you loosen.
“Fuck! Are you-”
He didn’t get to finish his question or his worry, because you ducked fully under his reach, your blade now free to run across his stomach. Unable to defend, Leon exhaled above you, then exclaimed as you reached for his knee, pulling his leg out from under him. His back met the forest floor and you landed on top of him, pinning him there, blade to his throat.
“You had me,” you scolded despite yourself, shaking your head. “You could’ve won. You cannot keep doing this. You can’t keep letting your worry hold you back.”
His smile faltered, the light in his eyes fading at your words. You could see yourself strangling the joy from the encounter, but you just couldn’t help yourself. Still, Leon just shook his head. “You’re one to talk about worry,” he pointed out.
“I have every reason to be worried.”
“Not today,” he insisted, some annoyance coming through now. Or maybe it was fear. “I don’t want to think about that today.”
Guilt weighed you down, making for one hell of a tag-team as that worry refused to let go of its stranglehold on you. Still, you nodded, forcing yourself to relent. “Okay. Yeah, sorry.”
Leon was, as always, too quick to forgive you. “It’s okay,” he promised. Then he smiled like he was seeing the sun for the first time after weeks of rain. “I’ve missed you.”
Even if you were the one with the knife pressed to his skin, that simple phrase cut deep into you because, damn it-
“I’ve missed you too.”
You moved then, freeing his arms. Letting him reach for you. Letting him hold you the way you’d been imagining him holding you for the last eight weeks. You weren’t surprised when he reached for your face, his thumb gently stroking the fresh scrapes on your cheek, just beneath your eye.
“You sure you’re okay?” he asked, too sweet for what he was about to become. But it wasn’t some hardened soldier underneath you, then. Not the man who was about to be Agent Kennedy. No, however much his body had changed over months of training, this was your rookie. Your Leon. So, his concern over the little injuries made you smile.
“You know I’ve had worse,” you reassured him. “Besides . . . we’re even for that first day, now. ‘Bout time you gave me some bruises to remember you by.”
“That’s not how I want you to remember me.” Leon’s words were serious, then. Weighty. And you couldn’t fault him. You both had so many hurts - so many marks left on you that told the story of your lives. You’d both shared those wounds with each other. It was time to share something better.
So, you leaned down, taking the knife away from his throat. “Then how do you want me to?” you asked, your lips so close to his.
He answered you with a kiss - no hesitation. No waiting. Not anymore. Your response was the same, meeting him in that touch of slow passion. Not that it stayed slow for long. “Like this,” he said, and you smiled against his lips.
You’d had a few weeks to take out your frustrations of not training. Sparring wasn’t the only thing you’d been unable to participate in, and it didn’t matter how often you let your own hand wander between your legs back in the infirmary, or more recently in the shower. It would never be enough to alleviate your yearning for him. There was only one way to get around that.
So, you pressed your body against his, feeling the shape of him that you’d been denied for so long. With the woods between you and any prying eyes, you let yourself fall into his kiss with abandon.
Well, almost.
“I fuckin’ missed you . . .” Leon repeated, the words trapped between your lips and his. You could feel his hand gripping desperately at your waist, his body tensing underneath yours.
“How much?” you asked, and you pressed a sly smile against his lips.
Leon smirked right back at you, the hand on your cheek moving to the back of your neck instead to pull you down against him. “Let me show you.”
It was hard to break away from that kiss. A test of willpower to stop, even as he let you dip your tongue into his mouth, making one of his soft little sounds. God, you had to call on so much willpower before you managed to break that heated kiss, pressing a hand against his chest to keep him from following you up. “Right here on the forest floor, Kennedy?” you asked, feeling like a wire coming to life with electricity.
“I don’t mind getting dirty,” was Leon’s simple reply, and you weren’t sure whether you wanted to roll your eyes or kiss him harder.
“Well, you’ll be the one on your back,” you warned, smiling as it made Leon exhale a little breath. “You want that to be here? Or somewhere more comfortable?”
Leon just raised a brow, looking up at you in confusion. “Wasn’t the woods your idea?”
“This was part of my idea,” you corrected, and when Leon’s look of confusion only grew, you smiled and got up off of him. He took your hand when you offered it to him, and you couldn’t help the little sparks of excitement bubbling in your gut as you led him through the woods, following the notches in the trees you’d used to mark your way. It wasn’t long before you reached your destination at last, and you looked over at Leon just in time to see his eyes light up at what you’d prepared.
“What’s this?” he asked, his voice betraying his joy.
Not that there was, really, much to cause that joy. Just your rucksack, partially unloaded, sitting in the middle of a little clearing, two plastic bags with sandwiches inside (thank you, Doc) and an unzipped standard issue sleeping bag laid out in the shade and, of course, a little radio resting up against the bag.
“This,” you said, propping a hand up on your hip, “is your graduation present. Part of it.”
Leon just stared at you for a moment, and you took it as an opportunity to go on.
“You said you wanted a date before. Best I could do-”
“You’re a romantic.” The observation cut you off, and your eyes flashed a little like he’d just slapped you, even if his words were nothing but adoring.
“I am not-”
“You are,” Leon insisted, chuckling.
“And you’re a pain in the ass.”
“Yet you keep me around.”
“For some reason.”
Leon laughed, because there was no real venom in either of your words. Then he took you in his arms, pulling you tight against him. Like he never wanted to let go. “Whatever reason that is, I’ll take it.”
Reason. As if there was only one. As if Leon Kennedy hadn’t been the damn sunrise for you these last few months, breaking through your clouds. As if he hadn’t made you laugh and smile and forget even for just a few moments. As if he wasn’t the most beautiful man you’d ever seen inside and out. As if he wasn’t the person you would kill and die for.
That was all too much to speak, though. That was why you’d planned this. Why you’d decided to risk it once more, hoping it wouldn’t be the last time.
So you kissed him.
You kissed him until the woods and the sounds of birds faded to background static, and you didn’t stop as you felt his hands seeking the hem of your shirt. He wasn’t the only one who wanted this to be memorable, after all, and so you dedicated yourself to making him come undone. Your time together hadn’t been long, in the grand scheme of things, but you had learned his weaknesses in love just as you had in fighting. Things like the way he melted when you took charge, his breath catching in his throat as you pushed him back against a tree, trapping him there. Or the way he tried to hide his moan when you pulled his hair back hard, exposing his throat to you so you could trail kisses there.
Back between the buildings of base, you would have commended him for that attempt. Here, though? “There’s no one to hear you but me, pretty boy,” you murmured against his neck, your free hand sliding down to palm the growing hardness between his legs. “And I better hear you.”
“Oh, God,” Leon breathed, his head falling back against the tree. He laughed a little as he pressed his hips into your hand. “This the other part of my graduation present?”
You hummed against his skin, excitement building in your belly. In another world, another life, you would have spent hours building to this. You would have unraveled him piece by piece until he was a mess in your bed. Here, you didn’t have such time, so your plan would have to be enacted faster. “You remember our rule? You can tell me if anything goes too far at any time?”
There was some hesitancy in his answer, but he nodded all the same. “Yes.”
“Good,” you responded, leaning away to nip at his earlobe, enjoying the way it made him shudder. Still, you enjoyed his reaction to what you said next far more. “Because I want to ride you,” you told him, and already you saw red creeping into his cheeks, “but I only want that if you want it too.” You pulled back to look at his face for that last promise, bringing a halt to your teasing touches to let him make his decision.
In the end, he stared at you with those wide eyes - more black now than blue - like he didn’t dare to hope what you’d offered was real. “Are you sure? We don’t have-”
“I’m sure,” you confirmed, your eyes finding his own so he could see the truth in them. “I want to feel you.” And you didn’t know when you’d ever get the chance again. If you’d ever-
“I want to feel you too.” Leon’s admission was quiet but you could hear the need in his words. The fear, because no doubt, he had the same worries in his mind. “But are you really sure?”
You just gave him a look and pressed your lips against his once more. His hands found your face as he kissed you back, holding on like he was afraid to let go. “I’m sure,” you repeated against his lips. “Have you ever done this before?” you asked, because it was an important question.
Leon stopped his kisses for just a moment, blushing a little deeper as he answered. “Once.”
You’d figured as much. “Well, it’s been a long time for me,” you admitted. “Might need your help with a few things. Are you okay with that, too?”
Leon just nodded, murmuring your name. “You could ask me to do just about anything and I’d do it.”
You could hear the truth there. The complete and utter devotion in his words. It terrified you, so you pushed the feeling away. “Then you have some work to do,” you said, your hand dragging down to his chest.
“Guess I do,” Leon agreed, and your eyes widened as you felt him grip your shoulders. He maneuvered you so that you were against the tree now, facing the bark as Leon settled in at your back. So much more confident than he’d been that first night, when he’d all but let you do what you pleased with him. It made you smile as you braced your hands against the tree, all while feeling his hands at your hips.
“Getting bold, rookie,” you pointed out.
“Just like you taught me to be,” he said, his hands fiddling at the waistline of your fatigues. “Is this okay?”
“So long as you remember that this ends with you on your back.”
“I think I can live with that. But I’m gonna give you a run for your money, first.”
You’d never known Leon Kennedy to go back on his word. But as his lips met your neck and his hand snuck between your legs, you knew that this was a promise he meant to go above and beyond with. Before too long the two of you had set a rhythm, his hips rubbing against you, his hand opening your fatigues and sliding down to touch-
“There . . .” you sighed, rocking yourself against him, tilting your head to the side as he sucked and nibbled gently at your skin. Still, as nice as this was, you were on a bit of a schedule still, and damn did you want more. “That the best you’ve got?” you asked, using Leon’s earlier words against him.
It made him chuckle against your skin. “Not by a long shot.”
He made good on that promise too just a few moments later, as he tugged your pants down past your hips, your underwear too. He proved that he was good for more than just oaths when you felt him kiss his way down your back . . . and then even you moaned as his tongue circled you. However stupid this is, however foolish, you couldn’t give a damn in that moment. You let your eyes fall closed as he tasted you, one hand on your hips to support you, the other snaking around you to stroke exactly where you needed.
He took to his task with vigor, and you arched your back into him, desperate to feel more of his tongue and touch. “That’s it,” you moaned, reaching a hand back to grab a fistful of his hair.
The action made him groan into you, as it always did, and there the two of you stayed for what was too long and not nearly long enough, him worshiping you on his knees.
When he added the first finger at your instruction, you dug your nails into the bark and his name was a hymn as it left your lips. “Leon-”
“I’ve got you,” he promised, and you believed him, letting yourself adjust to the feeling of him.
Nothing mattered but him. Nothing else in the whole fucking world.
“Another,” you ordered, and he obeyed, sliding another finger into you. You groaned at the stretch, at the feeling of his hand pressing into and against you, and all you wanted is more, more, more-
And he gave you just that. Working you open, learning what little of you he hadn’t known. He rose, leaning over you to mouth at your neck once more, careful not to leave any marks while his hands moved fast. Then you cried out as he reached that place in you that made sunlight bloom in you, and he noticed. You’d never given him credit enough for being able to find weak spots until now, but it wasn’t long before you were panting as he held you close. He was breathing heavily against your neck, his muscled body all but pressing you into the tree until-
“Oh, fuck!” you hissed, biting down on your lip as pleasure washed over you, warm and gentle just like the man that unleashed its tide on you. You shivered, glad of the strength of your legs not betraying you, and when it was finally done you could only let out a huff. “This was supposed to be about you,” you breathed, looking over your shoulder, only for Leon to nuzzle into you.
He just hummed against the back of your neck, and you just knew he was grinning ear to ear. “Sorry. Got a little carried away.” You felt him kiss your still-clothed shoulder, and you laughed.
“Well, pretty boy,” you said, turning to face him fully, letting your eyes glint in the light slipping through the trees, “I intend to give as good as I get.”
⧫⧫⧫
Leon laughed as you pushed him down, the unfolded sleeping bag rustling as he landed on top of it. You never were one to waste time, and you didn’t now as you climbed on top of him, your lips crashing against his. He almost protested that you shouldn’t, given what he’d just done for you, but you didn’t seem to care and that only made him blush hard into the kiss.
And as you kissed him, Leon felt his heart hammer against his ribs and sunlight kiss his skin as you pushed his shirt up. He rose, trying to help you pull it all the way off, but you placed a hand on his chest and pushed him back down firmly. “Down, boy,” you told him, and Leon blushed a deep, dark red. “Much as I’d love to strip you down, that’ll have to wait for next time.”
Next time.
Please, God, let there be a next time-
All thoughts of the future began to fade, though, as you reached for the fastenings of Leon’s fatigue pants. Freeing him from what he’d been straining against for some time now. He lifted his hips to help you pull them down, and your hand set to work immediately. Leon sighed as you licked your palm, then wrapped your fingers around him and God, he needs you.
He’d never felt a need like he did then, not once in all his life because you were his and he was yours. All that you had gone through and all that you would go through, whether together or apart, whatever pain awaited you, the two of you would have this.
You would steal one moment of perfection together.
I love you-
So, when you finally had enough of working with your hand, there was only one answer to the question you asked. “Are you ready?”
“Fuck yes.”
You were in control. Leon had no illusions about that. So he let you move yourself, straddling him a bit awkwardly with your pants still around your ankles. His hands came to your thighs, squeezing gently because, frankly, he didn’t know what else to do. All he knew was that he’d imagined this moment so many times and now it was here at last.
He watched with wide eyes as you lined him up, feeling himself pressing up against the wetness he left behind . . . and then moaned as you sank down on the first inch of him.
He wasn’t entirely sure he survived what followed, really. Strangled gasps left him and you both as you lowered yourself bit by bit - he didn’t even have time to ask if you were alright. You were setting the pace, and Leon of all people knew that you were going to push yourself to the limit as much as you would push him. And so, the two of you moaned together as you took him deeper and deeper until, finally, blissfully, he felt himself fully buried in you.
And there was nothing, not anything at all on this Earth, that had ever felt so good.
He stared up at you, eyes blown wide, and found it nearly impossible to breathe as the two of you stilled, letting your body adjust for just a moment. Leon couldn’t find the words. What words could possibly do justice to the sight of you over him like that, the sun haloing through the trees above you? How could he ever describe to you how deeply you moved him, how your jagged-glass eyes softening and looking away from him made him feel alive? An angel of vengeance that, for just a few moments, had been sent to love him. To soothe the shredded heart in his chest.
I love you, he repeated in his mind, once that mind was clear enough to form a thought.
“Are you okay?” he finally managed to ask, and he hoped so desperately that you would say yes. That you would tell him to move. That he could feel you like he’d wanted to all this time.
Your nod was heaven-sent, just like you were. “Yeah,” you told him. “You?”
“Yeah.”
A smile. A spark of hellfire in heaven.
Then your hips rolled, and Leon moaned.
You’d told him that you wanted to ride him, but fuck he hadn’t imagined it quite like this.
“God you feel . . .” he couldn’t do justice to that feeling, either. He never could. You knew it, too, because you gave him a toothy grin and ground your hips against him harder, pressing him deeper into yourself, and Leon was sure those fireworks he’d been talking about had been lit in his chest.
“So do you,” you told him, your eyes falling closed as you twisted and moved on top of him.
The two of you panted together, hips swirling and your hands splayed over his chest. Your fingertips traced down from where his shirt was bunched up at his collarbone, brushing against the scar at his shoulder. A wound taken for a woman who’d dealt him a wound in turn, and who, in that moment, was far, far away from Leon’s mind. There was only you, then, and the sweet sounds of your breathing. The feeling of your hand over his heart for just a moment, and then the involuntary jolt that went through him as you pinched at one of his nipples.
The feeling made him flush because he hadn’t thought to-
“Like that?” you asked, leaning down to grin at him. Leon, breathless, just swallowed because holy shit the way you looked, the way you felt around him-
“You’re gonna kill me,” he whimpered when you pinched him again, your hips moving at a torturous pace.
You just chuckled, moving down to kiss his throat as you worked and your lips and your hands and the feeling of being inside you-
It was all too much. He couldn’t take it, his mind turning into a haze as he moved his hands up, feeling your hips. Your belly. He pushed your own shirt up, desperate to see you, only for his eyes to widen as he brushed against rough, raised skin. You stopped your torment of him to grab both his wrists, just as he brushed against your scars. Fearing he’d made a misstep, he let you pin both arms at his sides, looking up at you with concern.
He was met, though, only with desire when his eyes met yours.
And just then, your hips picked up speed.
“Oh my god-” another exclamation as he surrendered to you fully. He didn’t know what to do - whether to buck up into you, to meet your passion with his own, or to let you have your way. Either seemed too perfect a choice, too tempting a desire, and each time you rose up and sank back down on him it only filled his mind with more and more static.
“You have no idea . . .” you told him, whispering the words against his ear between breaths. “No idea how long I’ve wanted this.”
“Yes I do,” Leon insisted, feeling something white hot and unstoppable building in his chest. Something he tried to stave off because he wanted eternity for this moment. “Yes I do-”
I love you-
“You’ve wanted it too,” you agreed, squeezing his wrists a little harder as you moved faster. “I know. I know baby.”
Your name left his lips, but you went on.
“Show me. You promised to show me how much you missed me. Show me.”
I love you-
Only you could give him orders like that, and as soon as Leon felt your grip on his wrists loosen, he did as you asked. He gripped your hips with all his newfound strength, and he let his instincts move him. Instincts that led him to lifting you, the muscles in his arms flexing as he did it. Your eyes widened, and then flashed as he brought you back down around him, hard.
From there, it was a losing game.
⧫⧫⧫
Moans filled Leon’s mouth, and then your tongue followed as the two of you worked together, trading kisses as he helped you move up and down, up and down. It was almost brutal, the pace you set, offset by the sweetness of the kiss.
Of course, that could only last for so long before you needed more.
Always more.
You broke away, leaning back and bracing one hand on Leon’s thighs. The other went between your own legs and you moaned, letting your head fall back as he thrust up into you. Letting yourself fall away and into the abyss, where none of your worries dared to follow.
⧫⧫⧫
But Leon followed you.
As beautiful as you looked above him, he couldn’t let you go. Not yet. He watched you touch yourself for only a moment before he pushed himself up, one arm coming around you to pull you flush against him. Your head snapped back down, clearly caught by surprise, your lips parted as the two of you went on moving.
Your eyes met his and-
⧫⧫⧫
You knew you were doomed, because just like that, you couldn’t look away.
The hand you’d braced against Leon’s thigh came to press against his back instead and you let your body rock with each shared movement.
⧫⧫⧫
He whimpered as you pressed down on him-
You moaned as he pushed your shirt up and laid kisses on your chest-
As he felt you clenching around him-
As his hand replaced your own between your legs-
As that pleasure in him built-
And built-
Until, at last-
“Leon-”
“I’m-”
His warning and your name both were lost in the kiss you gave him, and then you were both gone from the world. For just one moment, you weren’t you and Leon wasn’t Leon. There were no boundaries between the two of you, nothing left to hide. Nothing left to fear, or fear for.
Only each other.
“I love you.”
He wasn’t sure you heard the confession, but he supposed it didn’t matter. You knew. You had to have known.
Leon clung to you tightly as he finished, his hips twitching up into you just as you shuddered in his lap. Quiet settled in around you, wrapping you both in its embrace, only broken by labored breathing and distant birdsong. “I’m sorry,” he finally said, not sure what part he was sorry for. “I didn’t mean to-”
“Don’t be sorry,” you shook your head. “Not for anything.”
His heart set at ease once more, Leon could have lived in that moment forever. He wanted to so desperately as he lay back against the sleeping bag, dragging you with him.
For a few beats of his healing heart, he was happy.
Even as you asked a final question in a worried, weary voice-
⧫⧫⧫
"You sure it's a good idea?" you began, your head against Leon's chest. "Loving me?" Because that was all you could think of; his whispered confession in the throes of passion. You wanted to give him the chance to take it back. To choose a safer path.
You should have known Leon Kennedy was a man of risks by now.
"Maybe it isn't," he admitted, catching his breath. "But honestly? I really don't give a damn."
Your fear came back, then, creeping across the forest floor to join in on your embrace. Still, your voice managed to be mostly good-humored as you shook your head. "You're crazy."
He laughed. God, he sounded so young. So happy. "Maybe I am. Think that's part of what you like about me."
Like. Not love. He didn't want to presume, even if he'd be right. Even if you did love him.
Even if the mirroring confession to his was right at the tip of your tongue. There it lingered, holding on for dear life as you nodded. "Maybe it is," you agreed.
You weren't entirely sure why you didn't say it back, even if you knew you felt the same love.
All you knew was that you didn't voice it that day in the woods.
Later, you wondered if maybe you should have.

I'm not going to lie, bros. Luis's sudden change of heart here never made any sense to me. Nothing has changed (that we've seen) in between these two scenes to change his mind. At the start of chapter 2, Luis:
+ already knows that Leon's an outsider getting caught up in this + already knows that Leon's looking for Ashley, who's another innocent outsider getting caught up in this + already knows that Leon is infected (he fucking watches it happen) (and even if he couldn't see because it was dark in the cellar, nothing happens to inform him of it between chapter 2 and him beckoning Leon and Ashley into the cabin)
but he leaves Leon for dead in the basement of the warehouse anyway.
So, then, why does he say to Ada:

Luis is also completely unaccounted for in the time between ditching Leon in the basement and showing up at the cabin. Leon doesn't run into him at all between these two moments, and he's MIA in Separate Ways, and Ada can't find him.
But not only does he have a change of heart, but he refuses to give Ada the Amber for a significant portion of Separate Ways, because he knows that, once he does, Ada will take him away from Valdelobos and away from Leon and Ashley.
Luis starts the game as a wholly selfish character, caring only for his own extraction/rescue and nothing else, but all of a sudden becomes obsessed with redemption and penance.
This is one of those holes that makes me feel really confident in saying another DLC is coming.
Because there is a way to make this make sense.
Luis must have learned that Leon was a survivor of Raccoon City.
This would also help to explain why he's so dodgy about telling Leon who he actually is, why he seems to feel guilty when Leon reveals that he knows about his connection to Umbrella, and why he doesn't seem to question why Leon has such a distrust in/vendetta against Umbrella.

I don't know how Luis found out about Leon, but I'm pretty confident in saying that he must have. Either Krauser or Wesker could have told him, because both of them would know. Or maybe not even told him directly -- but somehow the information got out there and around. A file or something was dug up or left behind. Maybe another one of Krauser's jerk off photos who knows idk
Because it'd be easy, from Luis's perspective, to rationalize leaving Leon behind in the basement. This guy seems like he knows what he's doing, and he walked into this willingly, so let's just let things sort themselves out.
But to find out that Leon was also a survivor of Raccoon City means that Leon has already fallen victim to Luis's work once before and is now poised to get hit by it a second time. That would be enough to make Luis stop and go "I can't let this keep happening."
And it makes it all make sense as to why this is suddenly so deeply personal to Luis, when he couldn't be assed to give a fuck about it at the start.

WIPs Meme
Rules: Make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous and tag other people. People can ask about the title(s) that most intrigues them !
This is fun! Tagged by @portfolio-tea-and-magic 💚!
After seeing a post about fibrecraft wips, I've recently done a bit of a rework of my folders when importing everything into ellipsus, so I have two categories! Active wips and UFOs - Unfinished Objects! I also tend to put the ship and assignment plus year in my doc titles so I can group by ship and also by exchange! So the titles below are exactly as in my folders heh. Anyone can ask about the stuff below and also the ideas docs, and I'll drop a bulleted fic idea from them if wanted! So;
Active Wips - things I'm currently working on or planning to continue between assignments
Caulrich - hold me like a weapon (title subject to change cos it doesn't quite fit)
Sart/Basch - Lost in True-Phoenix Flame
UFOs - things I've started and aren't likely to be finished unless I get the bug
Cid/Vincent - I looked at you and I saw home
Omeluum/Blurg - party spores part 2, pregnancy boogaloo (follow up to Tessadyle Cloth)
Leon/Krauser - Still Standing (this one isn't transferred yet but it's the only one with a chapter already posted on ao3)
Ideas Dump - my place to stash ideas docs I'm keeping hold of and other things
caulrich ideas
Caulrich Timeline
zamasian ideas
There was a bit about tagging people I think but I'm on my phone and didn't copy/paste it, so I'm gonna tag: @lesbians4armand @armandmollloy @eemamminy-art @7-et & @sweetmage! No pressure if you don't want to or don't have wips! 💚💚
#quailtags#quailfic#This is actually quite a lot of wips for me - I don't tend to like having them because I prefer to finish a thing then move on#but a combo of exchange deadlines shifting fandom interests and general lack of fandom outside of just me makes it difficult to continue#I also don't normally have titles for wips but the sartbasch has been going on for very long & the valenwind is basically inspired by a son

just thinking about a re5make
just the title. i'm on an re4r binge again (when am I not) and I'm just so excited to go back to Kijuju.
re4remake is easily my favorite game in the series and even as someone who has yet to finish the original, i still see and listen to the accounts of others who did - and their comparisons between the two mean a lot and have me excited for what's in store for re5. i think i'm so excited because unlike og re4, i have beaten re5 countless times and im just - ahhhhhhhh. so excited. (if i come across a sheva in og re4 mod watch me beat it immediately lol)
was watching a playthrough of re4make and person playing was complimenting it while also going through her favorites between og and remake. she was commenting on the krauser boss fight, and then the saddler one. and maybe it's literally just how goopy and gross saddler is (and that's what reminded me of excella), but i am so excited to see excella's boss fight. just, in that moment, i was like "oh shit. there is a chance that we're gonna get an updated re5 and we're gonna see botox buddy #2 in all her remake glory." and that's so fucking cool.
i have so many (constructive, i hope) criticisms of re5 - i played the xbox 360 version originally a year ago, and then this summer came back to it, saw re5 on sale, and caved. Since this summer i've only been playing the PC version - and i play it with a lot of mods.
my main complaint (and also source of excitement) is the absolutely disgusting horrible godforsaken green filter, or the idea of a *lack* of it. re4make is so fucking pretty. i am so excited to see that treatment given to other resi games. and i want more from the environment too. there's literally so much opportunityyyyyyy capcom pleaseeeee.
you change location so much in re5. in particular, im a huge fan of the marshlands and it's essentially the stone retrieval thingy in chapter 4(?) of re4make. just - imagine the marshlands with more color?? more foliage?? just, more?? agh. and there's the beautiful scene with the sun rising behind sheva as she and chris ride around on the boat? i need that whole section with the sun rising. do you know how pretty that would be? and then when you get all the slates and open the door, the sun can come up more and whatnot idc. just, let me ride the boat around the pretty marsh. let there be more animals just chilling about (not just the alligators/crocodiles/i can't tell the difference/i always forget/i'm sorry). let me kill enemies with a beautiful sunrise behind me pleaseeeee. i know resident evil is a "gross" series with lots of gunk and shit, but there are so many instances of the games being absolutely gorgeous. the train in re0? queen zenobia? the rcpd literally being built on top of an old museum? let re5 be pretty, capcom. pleaseeeeeee
i'm also just excited for the bossfights overall. everything in re5 is huge and in a potential re5make, there's such an opportunity to make it feel just MORE. irving? excella? jill's bossfight in general??????? literally there is so much potential here. i'm so excited for a jill fight. make the environment more. the voicelines when chris calls out for her. when you play as sheva and AI Chris will stand in front of Jill so you don't shoot her??? i could cry.
also capcom make me like the mkono boss fight please. when i grab the flamethrower, make it do something :)
also, all of the ruins in the game just have so much promise. i haven't played tomb raider in a hot minute, but i remember that shit being fire. give it the tomb raider treatment or something idk.
another thing that i'm so so desperate for is dialogue. i NEED more conversation between Sheva and Chris. They're literally at the hip the entire game, so let them talk. I want to know more about Sheva. I want Chris to slowly open up about Jill, Raccoon City, and the Spencer Mansion. Let that man talk a bit about Wesker - Sheva is walking into hell with him, she deserves to know what's up. (and please bring karen dyer back pleaseeeeeee). from my understanding, sheva was really only supposed to be a liaison between the different BSAA locations. she's essentially there as a translator and guide for chris - yes, she can take care of herself and kick ass, but she wasn't supposed to have to. and then shit hit the fan. so let them talkkkkk about it. let her open up about her dead parents and shit. let chris open up about his dead parents. orphan bond and shit idk
i'm not sure how co-op is gonna work with potential re5 or re6 remakes, but I personally love being able to play with other people. either way, a girl can dream.
i'm sure there's more i could think of but this is what came up off the top of my head. i have no clue if we'll get an re5make (it seems like it would make sense that it comes next after 2,3, and 4 getting a remake). i'm not like keeping my hopes super high or anything but i do want my thoughts out into the universe because i think it would be cool to look back at what i was thinking before re5make was promised/not promised/delivered, etc.

Beat the RE4R on Friday. I love pretty much almost everything about it.
My favorite changes
Leon's character. They perfectly show how jaded Leon is
Krauser. I particularly love what they did with Krauser. Leon's Major, teacher and a dark reflection on what Leon could've become if he allowed himself to be jaded and corrupted by power. Also a reflection of what happens when the US Government turns their back on their soldiers and sometimes attacks their own soldiers and even silences those who dare investigate such war crimes.
Ada. At first I was skeptical of the new voice actress, but she grew on me and handled Ada's characterization well. Cold hearted spy, but has one moment of redemption and turns her back on Wesker.
Ashley. I really love what they did with Ashley here. She goes from scared, to helpful to Leon's savior. Also the tease of Ashley becoming an agent?? Did someone see my Revelations 3 pitch of Ashley and Sherry becoming partners????
Luis. Luis steals the show. This Spicy sexy motherfucker stole my heart and I was so disappointed when he died.
Leon's antagonism to Ada. I feel this was more realistic. Leon shouldn't want anything to do with Ada. She's shown her true colors to him and there is no going back.
The Wesker tease. I am unsure how I feel about RE5 being the next remake. I still say RE1 should get another remake. And even I know CVX needs a remake before 5. But the tease was done well and I am digging Wesker's new voice.
My only complaints
Saddler's presence feels very little. Difference between the original and the remake is Leon and Ashley meets Salazar from the Church and he's a large and looming threat. Leon literally meets Saddler in the final two chapters. He should've been a constant presence from the church to the island and keep the damn sass in the calls. The one positive thing about Saddler is they showcased how bad Religious Extremism can get and Saddler's done so creepy and those little cuts to Saddler were ominous, but did so little for him.
No Salazar and Leon banter. They had those intercoms in the castle and they didn't have Salazar and Leon trolling each other? Huge missed opportunity.

how are things? and I was wondering if you've got a favorite fic that you wrote or if its just too hard to choose?
i've been down with a cold so things are kinda annoying but it seems to be getting better at least so maybe things are looking up :'D thanks for asking!
oh damn. it is hard to choose. and it also depends on my mood, and like... some are faves because they were fun to write, some because i like how the end result turned out, some bc friends liked them, and so forth. it depends on what kind of a favorite we're looking for :3
i scrolled through my RE fics and tried to pick only the top faves and still ended up with thirty fics :'D (and sorta sad bc so many of them were not crowd pleasers lmao)
but! shameless self-recs under the cut! (it got long lol sorry)
we didn't know how to fly so high (burned down before we reached the sky) (Chris/Leon) - this one's special because it's the first RE fic I wrote and it's what ended a three year dry spell of me not writing a single thing. it's also special because back then i could go "OH ONE NOTE!" and post the second chapter lol.
haunting in my head (tempting me, inviting me to fall asleep in its arms) (Piers/Leon) - since I picked the first one, I'm also gonna pick the latest one. this was the kind of an idea that plagued me until I got it written and i'm super pleased with how it worked out!
and it's kind of obligatory for me to mention the self-indulgent series, because for so long it was what kept me going and what kept me writing when nothing else worked. it might not be the best thing i've written but it's for sure what i've poured most love in.
tear me open (and make me whole again) (Piers/Leon, past Krauser/Leon) - from my whumptober fics this one i was the most excited about. i know it's got quite a bit of violence in it but like. i thought it hit all the right notes emotionally too, and i honestly wished it would've done better. i think it's worth it! am still happy with how it turned out.
(honorable mention to haunt you like it's part of you, another Piers/Leon and past Krauser/Leon, which is something i am really really into but apparently it's just me :'D but I really like the way the pairings clearly contrast each other tbh, i just think it's neat)
in the end it's you and I (Piers/Leon) - this is another whumptober fic I was super excited for! i'm beyond pleased with how it turned out and at least I feel all the right emotions while reading it.
all the things you are (Jake/Piers) - honestly I could've picked pretty much any of the Piers/Jake fic I've written because they were all really fun to write and their dynamic is super fun :'D I love the little bits in re6 where they interact bc they get on each other's nerves in all the right ways!
when it comes to metaltango, they're pretty much all close to my heart lol but can't help but follow in spite of going insane is something i regularly think back to and am still happy with how it turned out. same with the Krauser's back series, and question all my doubts, especially.
never too much to ask for (Piers/Leon) - this one is so very very important to me because LEON LEARNS TO BE LOVED. he learns to not only accept comfort but actually ASK FOR IT and it makes me emotional just to think about it 🥺
gonna show you tonight (Piers/Leon) - this one just makes me very happy.
and then there are the Piers/Leon ones where I've inserted Piers into a game/movie he isn't in, and honestly, those are ALL something I've had fun with and love the results! there's re2 with Piers, re4 with Piers, Damnation with Piers, and a combo of re4/Vendetta/og stuff with Piers! also the other re2 with Piers but that one only has one chapter for now so :'D
heal the scars and change the stars (Piers/Leon) - this one was based on a dream I had and I can still remember the exact vibe of the dream, and the way it haunted me afterwards, and I'm honestly really happy with the fic too. I have a thing for breaking up and getting back together it seems :'D
you're a dream (Piers/Leon) - this is something I've always always wanted to write, because soulmate aus are interesting but I've always gravitated towards imperfect soulmate systems, where it takes real effort to find them, and it's not so clear cut. and I honestly love how this turned out.
at the shore of the unknown (Piers/Leon) - another thing i always wanted to do was a soft apocalypse. this was supposed to be the first fic of a series, and the series is probably not happening, but i'm still content with the mood of this fic as is :3 i love these... slow empty worlds.
before I even knew your name (Piers/Leon) - THIS! this was SO MUCH FUN i don't know if I've ever had as much fun writing a fic :'D idk it was such a joy.
i crave therefore i am (Piers/Leon) - this fic however fought me every single step of the way, i wrote it like three times, and hated half of the process lmao, but i do love how it turned out. and the first scene is one of my all time favorite scenes i've ever written in my life.
to feel again (fwb!Chris/Leon at first, Piers/Leon eventually) - this was supposed to be a quick little oneshot but in the end it spiraled into something longer, and I do love it. like. the whole point of the Chris/Leon bit was that neither of them is the bad guy or wrong but they just weren't right for each other at that point in time, and then I enjoyed letting Leon build trust and a new relationship with Piers slowly at his own pace. 10/10 would write again :'D
last chance garage (ot3) - this one was very emotional to write and also got SO out of hand bc it was supposed to be like 1k max and in the end I wrote 8k lol. but it's my favorite ot3 fic.
winter lovin' (there's snow one like you) (Piers/Leon) - this one is super special to me because it happens in Finland :D they're vacationing on my home turf lol. but also because they're so in love, and they get to have fun and be together and. idk. the whole fic makes me all "🥺💖" like i literally turn into a physical embodiment of those two emojis. i love the fic.
stay until the end of life (Piers/Leon) - this one was also very emotional to write and I wanted to put them through a lot, and show how they really are in it for better and for worse. i wanted to show the struggles too, like... they love each other. they wanna be there for each other. but it's not always that easy. and I do think it worked out great.
three words to last forever (Piers/Leon) - I'm gonna end this way too long list with this because it's the first (and so far only) time I wrote a "choose your own ending" story and it was so much fun! I wish I could do a bigger story where you get to make multiple choices, but that would require some serious brainstorming lol. anyhow, I'm happy I got to do this! and happy with it turned out! especially the saddest ending :'D
now I'll shut up with my deepest apologies lmao.
#i know it's like 90% nivannedy#but what can i say#they've invaded my brain#there are other pairings in there too tho lol#anonymous#ask and i shall answer#me and my fics#re answers

RE4R Blogging Part.... This one. Which is basically, chapters 11-13. So, spoilers and shit for that far.
Okay. So we pick up with meeting Luis, as Leon longs for the mines. Getting the TNT was a fun little side trip, although the first time I used it, I did not get sufficiently out of the way and was crushed by rocks. So, chalk one (more) death up to being a dumbass.
So then wandering out over the lava bath thing, and it's like "oh, hey, another giant." Beat. "Oh, hey, TWO more giants. Cool." It wasn't so bad though--I took out the not-armored one with some shotgun blasts to the back, then Luis blew up the armor on the other one and we took him down. AND I got some points or whatever for not dunking them in the lava bath. Not for lack of trying--fuckers just kept moving whenever I would grab the lever.
So okay. Then Luis mentions that "Las Plagas" was found in "ancient amber." So that's what Ada (and Wesker probably) is after. Because I played Village first, this feels like the whole secret, big, ancient, black mold thing was a callback to. But yeah, ancient fucked up parasite virus thing? That sounds like something Umbrella (or its remnants, at this point, I guess) would want.
Oh, the minecart bits. Oh dear. I did die once from a combination of crashing into a dynamite guy and getting chainsawed to the face. But thankfully, it checkpointed.
The whole "nest" thing was creepy and gross.
And then Luis gets murdered by Krauser and that fight happens. Which was tricksy, and that dude can hop. I was a little confused at first, cos he and Leon clearly know each other and I was like "Wait, I played RE2, did I miss something?" But no, I guess it's from Leon's badass-training days. They mentioned something about Operation Javier. I don't really know what that means, but it seems like something went down.
Then Luis has his tragic last cigarette and wonders if people can change and it's all very dramatic.
But okay. Time to get out of the hole. Ada shows up and tells Leon to go to the clock tower, cos some shit's going down there. Okay. Gondola time to get up there (a little bit of a set piece, but I was kind of expecting more, tbh).
And Ramon's back. What a little dick. But okay, I'll chase his ass up the clock tower. My notes on this bit consist of: "Flame throwing head. Great." and "And giant spike ball!?," followed immediately by "Who's got the spike ball now, bitches!?" So that's kind of how that went.
Then I have a note that says: "Well fuck, a lever. Okay. I guess let's pull it." This is then immediately followed by "Well, fuck." A lot of dudes trying to jump on my shit. A few of them succeeded, but I held my own okay.
The next time I saw the merchant, he did warn me about proceeding though, so I was like "Okay. Shit's gonna go down."
So, I get up just in time to see Ramon trade Ashley to Krauser. And then he's about to pontificate and shit but Leon is even more tired of his shit than I am and just shoots him, which I did not expect but was hilarious. Even though even as it happened, I was like "dude, you know that's gonna backfire." And it did. He turned into a weird flower monster thing. That was one of the tougher fights so far, but he--like many zombified creatures 'round these parts--does not do well with a shotgun to the face, so I managed.
(Also, "No Thanks, Bro" being the name of the achievement made me laugh, cos I have seen that meme.)
So then Krauser fucks off on a boat, but luckily there's another one, and who should show up with the keys but Ada. So she and Leon have a cool conversation as they have a little boat ride. I like her observation "You haven't changed, you just think you have." Like yeah, she's kinda got his number.
Okay, so then now we're at some sort of compound? Or something? What the fuck is this place? I dunno. It has a laser maze though, so that's fun. Then there's Ashley in a cage, but of course, getting there isn't gonna be that easy.
The guy on fire bursting out of the locker freaked me out, but that was not nearly as bad as the Regenerators. Oh, those fuckers were annoying. I did manage to kill the first two, before you get the bioscope, just out of sheer persistence. It drained some ammo for sure, but felt worth it. Then once I did get the scope, it's like "yeah, I only need to kill this one, cos it clearly has the wrench inside it for some reason. But you know what? Fuck these things." And I used to scope to two-shot all of them. Did I need to do that? Were they gonna burst out anyway? Better not to find out!
And so that playthrough session ended with finally getting to Ashley, who's looking rough from all the, y'know, ancient evil death fungus shit that's been shoved into her, but Leon gives her Luis's serum and that seems to help.
It feels like I'm getting pretty close to the end here. I'm not sure exactly how much longer there is, but it's like... the tension is starting to feel climactic. Got a score to settle with Krauser, and then presumably some kind of standoff with this Saddler fellow coming. Not sure what else there could be, but I guess we'll see on the next thrilling episiode, eh?

Between the Bones (Leon x GN! Reader) - Chapter 21
You walked forward quietly, the two of you in tow behind the Major, and Leon wondered if he would have to mourn another future with someone. If he would have to accept an ending to something before it really began.

Chapter Index
It was perhaps one of the longest walks Leon had ever taken in his life. It couldn’t have lasted more than a few minutes, but as far as Leon was concerned, it was a lifetime long.
Even without your warning glance, Leon knew in his heart what the Major wanted to speak about. Because what else was there? Your nightly practices? He’d always approved of them. The reactions to the lesson yesterday? He would have spoken to you then and there, Leon felt. No, there was only one thing that Leon could imagine this talk being about. He knew it in his gut, because it was rolling enough that he felt like he was going to be sick. He would have known Krauser wanted to talk about the two of you even before you had pointed out Valeria. Even before, when he faced the grinning soldier down in training that night, she’d whispered a joke to him when he’d been locked in a struggle with her.
“Didn’t realize you were into this,” she’d murmured, soft enough that only he could hear. Her knife glinted not half as bright as her smirk. “But if it’s fighting that turns you on, guess no one’s better than our Sergeant.”
He’d been angry.
He’d been furious because of course he couldn’t have one night of happiness. Just one.
That anger helped him win the sparring match, knocking her leg out from under her and ending the fight with his knife against her chest.
“You’re right. There is no one better.”
It was a stupid thing to say. He all but confirmed that he’d been with you, but he’d been so caught off guard.
Now, he could only wonder if it was his smart mouth that had gotten the two of you here. If Krauser had overheard the exchange. Or if Valeria had told him what she knew even before then. Or maybe the Major didn’t need to be told at all.
Whatever the case, Leon supposed it didn’t matter, now.
Krauser led the two of you towards the officer’s barracks, never once looking back at either of you. And you . . . you wouldn’t look at him, either. Your eyes were focused ahead, on the ground in front of you. He knew that expression. Bracing for the inevitable. Ready to hurt.
He wished you would look at him. He wished you would let him show that you were in this together, whatever was to come.
But he also knew you. He knew that you so often needed to face things alone.
That made it all the more difficult to bear when, finally, before you both entered the barracks, you glanced sideways at him. He wasn’t quite sure what it was that he saw in your eyes. Resignation, yes, but something else. Guilt? Regret? Fear? Whatever it was, it sent a shock of pain right through his heart.
But then you offered him a different look - an attempt at something soothing, he thought - and Leon’s heart well and truly ached.
God, he wanted to reach for you. To tell you that, somehow, this was all going to be alright. But that would likely be a lie. And you didn’t need his comfort. Right now, what the two of you needed was to keep yourselves together, and Leon knew it. You needed to be calm, on the off chance that this was about something else. If there was a chance you could avoid suspicion altogether.
So you walked forward quietly, the two of you in tow behind the Major, and Leon wondered if he would have to mourn another future with someone. If he would have to accept an ending to something before it really began.
Best case scenario, the way he saw it, Krauser would tell the two of you to stop. Let you both off with a warning. At worst, though . . . would you be discharged? Leon had no choice but to be here. You, though . . . he wasn’t sure. He wasn’t sure and all he could imagine was a future where he couldn’t share hidden smiles with you. Where there would be no more stolen kisses. Where he lost you right as he started to truly know you.
It had happened with Ada.
It wouldn't happen with you, too. Not when you were the only good thing he had here in this hellhole.
That was what he resolved as Krauser let you into an office and closed the door behind the two of you. Three chairs sat around a desk, one across from the other two. Pens, a computer. A radio. The Major took the lone seat on the far side, settling in like the weight of the world was pushing him down. Like he wasn’t looking forward to whatever this was about anymore than you two were.
“Take a seat.”
Leon didn’t move. Some part of him thought that if he didn’t do as the Major asked, the conversation wouldn’t begin. That he could avoid the pain of whatever was to come. But that wasn’t how the world worked. If it could take, it would take. All he could do was try to hold on to everything he could.
You obeyed the command the Major gave, nodding silently and settling down across the table from the Major. Leon followed, keeping his eyes forward, his head held high.
“Don’t mean to make you miss dinner, but we’ve got some things we need to discuss,” he started, and Leon’s brow twitched. His jaw tightened. “It’s not going to be a conversation either of you enjoy, but it needs to happen.”
This was it, then.
Leon knew well how to brace himself by now.
He knew how to brace himself for pain, at least. He didn’t know, even after all he’d been through, how to brace himself for losing someone.
So he held his breath as Krauser started to speak in earnest . . .
“I need you both to tell me everything you know about the bioweapons you fought in Raccoon City and in Finland.”
. . . and then Leon found himself speechless for another reason.
He blinked, his mouth opening but no words came out. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see you do the same.
Because this was not what he had called the two of you in to talk about, surely.
Surely.
“. . . I thought you’d read the reports, sir.” You spoke first, cautious as a person walking on fresh winter ice. Wondering if you were going to get lucky, or if it was going to give way beneath you.
That storm that brewed behind Krauser’s eyes darkened. “I have. And they were just vague enough to not be helpful.”
There was silence. Leon looking at you, you looking at him, both of you looking at Krauser.
Had you really been that lucky?
Had the two of you just dodged that bullet?
That very much seemed to be the reality of things, as the Major went on. Leon realized he might be mistaking your hesitance for pain rather than confusion. “I’m not asking you to retell the whole night,” he said, impatient, “just the details of what you saw. What you fought. How you killed them.” Then, a look between the two of you, and something in that authoritative mask slipped. “I know what I’m asking. I know you both went through hell,” he said, and his voice was steady. Understanding, even. “But for your sakes and the sakes of everyone you train with, you need to push through and tell me.”
Leon couldn’t help but blink again, his head still reeling from it all.
“I gave them everything in my report,” he said after a moment, but the word “report” wasn’t exactly a truthful one. He’d been interrogated. Questioned thoroughly and completely about what he knew. What he’d seen. “Why wouldn’t they give you the details?”
Krauser’s demeanor shifted again, his mouth tightening. “That’s an excellent fucking question, rookie,” he growled, his hand clenched tight in a fist on the desk in front of him. “But I’ve got a pile of papers with redacted information and they’ve been giving me the run around when I ask for more. CIA bullshit.” Leon had never seen the Major so genuinely angry. So honestly and completely furious.
And it wasn’t because of him or you or the night you’d shared.
“I know there were bioweapons,” he went on, and Leon listened, his demeanor suddenly changed, “and I know the infection that they sanitized Raccoon City for was making people violent and difficult to kill, same as what you reported in Finland. I know that you faced something else, Kennedy,” that steely blue gaze lasered in on Leon, “but no one’s telling me much about what that something is.”
“That’s because they were involved.” Leon blurted it before he could stop himself, his own frustrations, long-buried, rising to the surface.
Krauser didn’t even look surprised, but Leon saw your eyes narrow as you looked over at him, listening now intently.
“Before you run your mouth more,” Krauser said, his tone grave. He reached for the little radio that sat on the desk and turned it on, the volume low. Bon Jovi.
You’d been right about Krauser and his music.
The music was to drown out the discussion. So no one outside the office would hear. “What you say will not leave this room. Because, if it did, you would be in a world of hurt.”
Leon knew what he meant. He’d been told not to speak of many things that happened in Raccoon City. He’d broken those rules for you, to share the common pain that the two of you had gone through.
Leon didn’t like Krauser, but he respected him for the most part. The Major was training them to survive against what you and Leon had seen. His job was to make sure that the bioweapons and the people who made them were brought down and buried. And he hadn’t been given all the information he needed to succeed in that task. Leon knew why. So, regardless of how he felt about the man sitting across from him, he would do what he could to give him a full picture.
“So . . .” Krauser leaned forward, his elbows resting on the desk in front of him. “Mind telling me just how our government was involved with that shitshow?”
Leon looked at the Major. Then over to you. Your expression . . . he’d told you this part of his story. But that didn’t seem like it was going to make it easier for you to hear again now.
“There was a doctor at Umbrella. Birkin. The one who created the virus that broke out. He was in contact with the Army. They wanted the virus. To use it as a weapon. Umbrella sent people to kill him to stop it, and that’s what caused the outbreak.”
And Leon knew what no one else should have. He knew what had gotten that man killed. He knew the bioweapons that the government had been trying to get ahold of.
That was why he was here. That was the knowledge that he had unknowingly traded for his autonomy. Knowledge he hadn’t even wanted.
And now Krauser had that knowledge, too. It was dangerous giving it to him, but he'd done it anyway.
Leon briefly considered that this might be a test too. Maybe Krauser wanted to see if Leon was willing to break his oath of silence so easily.
The way the Major sat forward in his chair, his brow creased in contemplation, though, told Leon otherwise. “Son of a bitch,” the older man eventually said, shaking his head. “Figured it would be something like that.” He sounded vaguely, darkly amused. “Must’ve had their interest piqued by what happened in Finland.” Krauser looked over at you, and Leon saw you nod. Your eyes were dark, your muscles stiff.
Leon had thought about the timeline of it all before. You had fought BOW’s over a year ago. Raccoon City was only a few months in the past, now.
You’d given your report of an entire base wiped out by monsters. How could the government not be interested in whatever could accomplish that?
“If they’d been there-” your voice was harsh and cold steel, “-then they’d know better than to want to fuck around with that shit.” They were the words of someone who knew all too well what damage could be done when the laws of nature were cast aside. The same way Leon spoke of the monsters he’d fought.
Krauser, though, didn’t seem fazed by your declaration. “Uncle Sam has never been shy about using whatever weapons are available,” he said, and Leon wanted to protest alongside you. The Major went on before he could get a chance. “But if we know how those weapons work, we have a better chance of fighting them. I can teach you how to take down people. But unless I know what else I’m sending you out against, none of this training is going to mean a goddamn thing.” It sounded like Krauser had spoken those words before. Like he had practice with that sentiment. And Leon found himself agreeing with the man, even if it would mean him thinking about the things that had nearly killed him. The monsters that he’d seen crush bones and tear bodies in two. He would relive it all if it meant sparing someone else from that fate. If it meant sparing you from it.
“If the government won’t give me the full picture,” Krauser went on, “then you two have to. So, assume I know nothing, and tell me everything you can remember.”
Leon looked at you first, meeting your eyes. You didn’t want to talk about it, he could see it. Neither did he. He didn’t want to think about the terrors that haunted his nights.
But he would.
And by the look in your eye, resolute and righteously angry, Leon could tell that you were willing to do the same.
Besides - and Leon could scarcely believe he was thinking this way - better Krauser want to talk about monsters than the night you and Leon had shared together. What a strange world the two of you had found yourselves in.
“Okay,” you said first, looking back at Krauser. And then you began.
⧫⧫⧫
“It spread through bites,” you said, and you tried to think of it like a mission debrief. That was how you’d gotten through it the first time. Clinically. Facts and nothing more than facts. Krauser wasn’t asking you for the finer details of who you were with, or how the night had progressed. He wasn’t asking you to tell him every second of your pain, or to relive those moments that came to you at night. He was asking for tactical advice, and you could give him that.
He was asking for advice, and you and Leon had gotten lucky. So unbelievably, incredibly lucky. Even if it brought back unpleasant memories, you would gladly tell the Major everything you knew about the monsters you faced.
But thinking of those things . . .
“Bites or scratches, even.”
Krauser didn’t say anything yet, and Leon nodded his head in agreement, solemn and silent.
“It affected some people faster than others. Minutes or hours, but then after that . . .”
Eyes that had been wise and warm were now empty, his skin paled by death. His fatigues were covered in blood, and his mouth hung open in a silent scream.
Krauser had questions to distract you from those memories. “How did they move? Were they stronger than people?”
And you answered. Every question the Major had, you answered. You told him how the bodies that had once been your comrades had shambled, moving like mindless drones towards some base goal. You told him that shots to the chest did nothing to slow them. That even once you blasted out knees and crippled legs, the bodies still moved, clawing their way across the floor towards their prey. You told him that calling them animals was too generous. That their mindlessness was only superseded by their hunger. That the most dangerous thing about them wasn't their teeth or their sudden bursts of energy when blood was close, but the fact that they wore the faces of people. People one might have been friends with. Cared for. Loved.
And hesitation would get you killed.
The Major listened, and you could see some sympathy in his eyes. The same look he'd given you when he found you out that morning in the snow. When he met you in the hospital to take you to your debriefing. But he also had a job to do, just as he did then.
"So," he began, "we're dealing with things that only go down with headshots or complete dismemberment." He sounded like he was planning already. Making strategies. Creating training exercises to simulate what you'd described. "That sound in line with what you saw in Raccoon City, Kennedy?" The two of you turned to Leon, and you were always floored that he could look at you with such care.
His eyes, so soft and blue, were fixed on you, full of sympathy. Empathy.
But then, as Krauser asked him that question, his gaze hardened. It was like you could see those rotting, broken hands reaching for him, pulling him back in time. "That was most of it, but there . . ." he glanced back at you, then at the ground. "Umbrella made more than just zombies."
And, as he spoke, you realized that Leon hadn't told you much of what he'd faced. He'd told you about the outbreak. About people turning.
"Did you fight anything other than them? The zombies?" He'd asked you that one day, in those weeks before his assessment.
"Yeah," you'd answered, thinking of the gas mask with red lenses. You hadn't been ready to speak to him about that man. You still weren't. So, when he asked his next question, your answer had been simple.
"Like what?"
"Pass."
And then you'd wondered about his own time in Raccoon City.
"Did you?"
"Yeah."
"Like what?"
"Pass."
Now, as you listened to him talk, you realized just how much he hadn't told you. And you couldn't blame him. You couldn't blame him for not wanting to think of the things he described. The dogs that had been infected. The skinless, sightless monsters with claws like knives and exposed brains. The giant alligator that had mutated in the sewers. The plants with teeth and arms and legs, that only fire could kill.
The pale, tall man - if it could be called that - that had pursued Leon through it all. That Leon had faced down, unable to kill it with anything short of a rocket launcher.
A goddamn rocket launcher.
And that wasn't even the worst of it. Your skin crawled as he told Krauser of what became of Birkin. How he'd sprouted extra arms and eyes and his flesh had spilled out past itself. How, in the end, he'd been little more than a rolling mass of skin and eyes and muscle and warped bones.
And as Leon described what he'd seen, you could only sit back and listen in horror, wondering how he was still sane. How he had survived.
And then you felt the urge to take him in your arms and hold him close, because no one should have to have seen what he had seen.
But you couldn't. You couldn't hold him, or tell him that it was going to be alright. You could only look at him and try to be there for him in some small way. You could listen to his words and learn how to fight these monsters. How to kill them. So he would never have to face them alone again. Even if it seemed an impossible task.
Krauser was doing the same - his fingers laced together in front of his mouth, his brow heavy set over his eyes.
Once Leon was done, once he had run through all of the horrors he had seen that night - all of that in one night - there was a long moment of silence. Then, finally, Krauser huffed. Nodded. "Alright. This conversation didn't happen. You're both dismissed."
That was it.
There was nothing more.
At the beginning of this, when he'd first asked you both about what you faced, you had thought you had been lucky. Now, you had been reminded that nothing about the two of you was lucky. The world had cursed you with something terrible, and it had done even worse to Leon.
And now the two of you had to live in a world where you knew such horrors were real.
So, the two of you stood, sparing each other a glance before you began to head towards the door.
"Get yourselves some dinner," Krauser said, stopping you both just before you could leave. "Tell the boys in the mess hall I sent you."
Major Krauser didn't seem the kind to say thank you in the traditional way, but you liked to imagine this was his alternative. Even if that were the case, though, you still felt utterly drained as you led Leon out of the office, the door closing and muffling the rock music Krauser had put on inside.
You and Leon stood just outside the door, then, sitting in silence borne of too much to be said.
Then, after a moment, Leon looked over at you, his expression unreadable. "So, are you hungry?"
Your answer was simple. "Nope."
He almost smiled, shaking his head. "Me neither."
But you both made your way towards the mess hall anyway. And there the two of you sat in relative silence, the rest of your fellow cadets long since gone. Side by side with food that you should eat in front of you. You let your leg touch Leon's, waiting to see if he wanted to talk about everything you both had just unveiled.
Trying to decide if you yourself wanted to talk about it.
"You okay?" You looked over at him, taking your eyes off the untouched food in front of you.
Leon grimaced, but tried to give you a smile anyway. "Well, we're not dead or discharged," he grinned, still a terrible liar, "so I guess I'm alright."
You had almost forgotten all about your fears of Krauser knowing about the two of you.
"Low bar."
Leon chuckled, not quite with his full chest. "Yeah, well, I'll take what I can get."
You wished you had his strength. You wished you could make light of what you'd just heard. As it was, all you could think of was Leon having to face down horrors you'd never even imagined. You thought that you'd seen the worst of the world, but now you knew that even your painstakingly won wisdom would not prepare you for what was out there. For what Leon had already survived.
There were more monsters than you were prepared for.
Your instructor wasn't being given important information.
Even if she hadn't told Krauser, Valeria knew about you and Leon.
"We're fucked, aren't we?" You looked over at him, your expression full of resignation.
Everything seemed impossible now. This fight you were training for, the relationship that you and Leon had just begun to explore . . . it felt like the whole world was set against you.
But Leon still found it in himself to smile. To shake his head. "Maybe," he said, and you felt his hand on your thigh beneath the table. "But . . . we made it this far, right?"
It made you laugh, even if it was a dry and humorless thing. "That luck can't last forever."
"No luck then," Leon insisted, and you could almost believe him when he spoke with that much conviction. "We'll be careful. We'll train. We'll find a way."
He was looking at you with such intensity, and you couldn't tell if it was certainty or desperation. Either way, despite your worries, you found yourself smiling a little. You wanted to kiss him, but even alone in the mess hall, you wouldn't take that risk. Not now. So, you settled for a little smile.
You knew how this ended. It wouldn't be happy.
But the world could wait a while before it took that happiness from either of you. There may be more monsters, more horrors, but now, for the first time in months, you had something worth fighting for other than vengeance.
And he was smiling at you, even if he had every reason not to be.
"Think you might be too optimistic there, Kennedy."
"One of us has to be."
Us.
It didn't matter if Valeria knew. It didn't matter what monsters Umbrella threw at you. You would burn the world for this man.
And of all the realizations that day, that was the most staggering.

my separate ways analysis (spoilers for gameplay, story/plot, characters, aeon)
for my re4r post, click here (it was written without the knowledge of SW so my opinions there may not be the same as here.
gameplay
as many of us anticipated, the separate ways campaign ended up having a lot of the "cut content" from the main campaign
similarly to the original SW, the campaign is a lot shorter than the main one however it does have a few added scenes and similar style of gameplay where Ada runs faster or is faster than Leon and you're also able to travel throughout the map faster with the help of her hookshot
because of the changes between the main campaign and SW, the laser scene, which was given to Ada- which always made more sense stylistically and for her story as well
overall her chapters did seem a bit short, but I think it's this is due to the capacity of the game in general because you're going through the same locations as Leon but you're able to go through it faster so it only makes sense that you go through the areas faster
I do think that there should've been additional time spent in each location but I'm not exactly sure how they could've implemented this (but also with the new locations as a lot of ada's missions were easier than leon's)
ADA'S SOUNDTRACK FUCKING SLAPS SO FUCKING HARD
also WHY WERE ADA'S DEATH SCENES SO MUCH MORE INTENSE THAN LEON'S
ada's campaign is objectively way more fun than leon's
story/plot
what one the main changes from the original campaign and the remake one is the addition of Ada's infection
it made sense to me when we were first presented it in the trailer, however I feel like there was a lot of missed opportunities with her infection
because she ends up just throwing up the plaga after she defeats the "mother" one, all tension essentially is gone afterwards. Because this is so early in the campaign it feels like her infection doesn't really matter, and I guess it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, as we know that she's going to get out of it at some point- but because it happened so early it just feels like there's no tension with this further along in the game
one of my main complaints is that in the main campaign, because we are viewing the mission through Leon's eyes, I think we were free to speculate that he is hallucinating at points during the game.
(this was a way to have potentially added the choking scene if he were hallucinating the entire thing and we wouldn't have seen it from his POV but we would have seen it from ada's.)
And because separate ways was always meant to be a mirror, an alternate side of the game- it would only make sense to have additional scenes that we wouldn't have seen in separate ways
I feel as though even though we did get additional scenes that are from Ada's perspective- they weren't really enough to supplement the amount of scenes that actually cut from in the original separate ways
especially because a lot of the main changes such as ada saving Leon from krauser which was changed to luis saving leon, instead
I still hold the opinion that a lot of scenes that were originally ada's in the original game and were given to luis- and I see a lot of arguments that "this isn't the case" but I find it funny that most of the arguments that I hear from people saying that luis didn't take Ada scenes- are funnily enough from luis stan's
(so i find this opinion to be fairly biased. there were absolutely scenes in original re4 and SW that are strictly ada's that were just given to luis instead. you can not argue away from this, this is just objectively true)
Circling back to Ada's infection, because it was gotten rid of so early on in the game. It removes any sort of tension for any sort of follow up with Ashley and Leon's infection.
many people, myself included along with several of the actors for re4r, have pointed out that in the main campaign when Ashley is miraculously able to lift Leon up onto the chair and cure his plagas- that it is not questioned and it is simply accepted as truth-
one of the potential pivotal changes could've actually have been because of ada's new infection in the remake, she would have to get her plagas removed as well at some point. but because her plagas was different and she was able to get rid of hers earlier it removes this potential scenario to happen
many fans were speculating that because of her infection, she would have to meet up with Ashley and Leon afterwards, and help Ashley to actually put Leon onto the chair so that they could both rid their infections at the same time, and this would've also actually potentially added a aeon scene as well (which would've fit into the narrative without feeling forced) which would really help with the story as well and keep in the infection for longer as well as providing more tension for her health as well
Because the SW remake was changed in some aspects but kept the same in other aspects in ways, (as in it didn't really seem like they were pivotal to the story) it felt as though we were missing more scenes that kept us on our toes. A lot of the things that were changed were rectified fairly quickly and because of this, a lot of the scenes that followed the original beat by beat, felt too predictable and felt like the same
I was left wanting more because all of the changes that were made were fixed too quickly or they weren't really that pivotal and everything that could've changed things weren't added
that being said, i do love the contact lense update as the glasses were a bit much for today's standards, and i could suspend my belief enough for a high tech contact lense in 2004 lol
characters
Ada
although I think a lot of the "criticism" for ada's changes in the remake are in bad faith, I feel like a lot of the changes makes sense with the potential route that they want to go with ada
i've always held the opinion that remake ada was meant to show a fatal flaw and then to have her have her redemption arc as soon as possible. ada was never meant to be evil, she was never meant to be a villain, however people were unable to disconnect her with this idea.
because of the remake highlighting so many aspects of her having a heart and "changing," it really goes to show how much effort they've put into characterizing her.
we have to remember that up until 2011 even, all we really had were these hyper sexualized flirty iterations of ada where she is really just as femme fatale with little regard for the people around her, but people who have seen and played re6 and have actually spent more time with her character has seen her grow.
arguably re6, has always been her redemption arc, but because this happens so late in the series, it's hard as an audience (particularly people who don't pay attention) to really see her be this multi-faceted character.
sure, we have original SW where she essentially spends the entire campaign saving leon's ass, but it lacked a lot of her characterization beyond her desire to keep leon safe and a few quips here and there about the villagers and her interactions with wesker and krauser.
and because i don't want to talk about her voice too too much, i do LOVE ada's voice in SW. it's clear that a few of her lines were fixed in a sense, the audio changes are small but there, but a lot of her lines are adorable and really add to her being more than just a femme fatale.
the colder aspect of her makes sense with her narrative opening, that she had made peace with what she was doing. but that she still questions everything
additionally i do think that her infection was a way to make the audience sympathize with her and make her seem weaker and more human as she's particularly overpowered in og SW imo
Leon
we had very few additional scenes with leon and i was hoping for more but wasn't expecting it, it just would've been nice
the two ish scenes we got with his face were nice lol
Wesker
the changes with wesker being near or on the island were fairly interesting, it makes us question why he was there or if he was just so concerned about it ada's "incompetence" on her mission. the banter between her and wesker about leon was interesting and furthers the ideas that they had much more history that we know of.
I saw a lot of criticisms between the scene where ada passes out and wesker saves her and brings her to the bedroom. And the discourse seems to be somehow shaming ada for "flirting" with wesker despite the fact that I never interpreted as genuine flirting.
It's clear at this point in her campaign wesker has commented several times on ada's incompetent and insubordinate nature and that because she is in a position of being "dismissed " or "taken off the case" or just plainly, "gotten rid of," she resorts to "flirting" as a way to keep herself in a position of power. she knows that wesker finds her unuseful at this time, and sees no real issue with doing this as a means to keep herself safe in sense.
she doesn't fear him, but she is wary of him. but she'll still go against his demands several times.
i thought it was interesting that we could've seen potential repercussions for her ada's. wesker being told about the explosions not all going off and the ability to take down her helicopter, but he decides to let her go anyways.
the "think that gun's gonna be enough?" "interesting..." MADE ME PURRRR HELP
Because we finally have more lines with wesker, I feel like I can appropriately gauge my opinion on his voice now. I thought that I was on the opposite side of things where I held an unpopular opinion of liking wesker's new voice... but it appears a lot of people actually enjoys his new voice far more than the original. i have already stated before that i've never been a fan of the comical voices from before, and obviously due to the controversy with wesker's original VA, it makes sense that he was recast. and it would've felt a bit gross for the new VA to emulate the same kind of voice IMO
Krauser
because of the changes in the remake, it made sense that ada and krauser barely interact, (mostly due to the removal of ada saving leon scene and was changed to luis) so it didn't make sense for ada and krauser to talk. i don't think that i hate this change (the removal of them talking) but it does make this relationship odd because it removes a lot of tension between the two and also makes it so that krauser's vendetta against leon a bit odd
it felt more interconnected in the OG, whereas in the remake it really did feel like multiple stories happening at the same time where they don't connect
Luis
since seeing more of SW and more of Luis (unfortunately) I've started to hold the opinion and I believe that I actually had this prior to SW, I feel the luis' redemption arc and backstory is severely lacking any actualization.
And I think this may actually be because of the additional scenes of luis, that it has been detrimental for his overall story
the more I was forced to see more luis the more I felt like his moral standing and his desire to help Leon and Ashley and Ada, it felt like it was lacking any motivation. His desire to "do the good thing," because it "makes him feel better," has never been enough, and WILL never be enough (for me and some audiences who like to gauge WHY characters do things)
we get the verbal confirmation on why luis is doing these things, but it doesn't align with his actual desire to do the good thing in the end. his redemption arc (to me) seems pointless, and i guess that adds to the pointlessness of his character arc and his unfulfilled desired to really right the wrongs he had already done.
his dying act could serve as his last chance to really do the right thing, but it feels undeserved.
(regarding his connection to nemesis and re3r) sure his bloodshed is "secondhand," but it doesn't excuse what he had already done. i just felt as thought even though we got this expansion of his character and it helped the story of re4r and SW-
his characterization was used a plot device RATHER THAN ACTUAL GOOD STORYTELLING. every time we need something- it's luis. every time there's a problem, it's luis. every time there has to be something ELSE happening, it's luis
he was a plot device MORE than an actual character (and i don't think to praise him for his characterization in this way is THAT GREAT OF A THING TO DO)
AND THAT'S FINE. we were never meant to see more of him in the long term. luis was always meant to die and in the remake, he was at least fleshed out more
but i still feel like it was at the detriment to ada's expansion. a lot of her story was "given to luis" and a lot of her scenes were ALSO given to luis, and you CAN NOT OBJECTIVELY deny this as fact. the fact that these scenes were ORIGINALLY ADA'S in the og and then were luis' in the remake, is an UNDENIABLE FACT THAT THEY GAVE THOSE SCENES TO HIM.
we got more luis, we should've NEVER HAD MORE. this is STILL ada's story. and so much additional luis for the sake of plot felt like a disservice to Ada AND Luis.
THAT ALL BEING SAID I STILL LIKE LUIS. I THINK HIS ADDITION WAS GOOD, I JUST WISH THAT ADA HAD MORE. I THINK THEM ARE COOL AS FRIENDS. still see luis as the gay friend sjkbfsjkf
Ashley
i thought it was weird that ashley had weird npc behaviour for the ashley ada interaction
also ashley had weird 90s yaoi hands and i couldn't unsee it
enemies
WHY WERE THE ENEMIES SO MUCH FUCKING SCARIER WITH ADA
aeon
a lot of people were complaining that the aeon moments weren't as pivotal in this campaign, and while I do agree to some extent, I don't think that they were necessarily required for this remake
this may seem contradictory because of what i had said prior (luis taking ada's scenes) but because of the route that they went, i feel as though the scene where (potentially) ada saves leon from krauser couldn't have been written any other way. because of how they wrote luis to be with leon nearly constantly, it would've been difficult to change this scene.
because ada is much more in the shadows in this remake, we still have some scenes, like the boat and reunion scene. but the eagerness of ada saving leon was seen more as an afterthought than a outright desire like in og
i don't think these are wrong decisions per say but they do allow us to see a progression of ada obviously still caring for leon afterwards as the plot gives us these scenes of convenience. (like ada ringing the bell because she was supposed to meet luis there as opposed to her directly going to the bell to ring it. she still does it, noticing that leon is struggling. which i think is enough tbh)
the changes of the original boat scene having additional dialogue helped to change things, particularly in conjunction with ada's monologue that she did change, just maybe not in the overt ways that leon had expected.
i still feel as though although we lacked a few aeon scenes, it made sense with what we had.
allegedly nick apostolides opted out of saying the "she's like a part of me i can't let go," because he felt as though this line belonged to the previous VA, but i can not confirm this as fact.
i never expected nick to say this line as it didn't appear to fit narratively, however the the "true ending" of SW really showed more wesker than more of aeon which was disappointing but not surprising.
the fact that re4r had an ending with ada, and sw had an ending with just wesker felt blegh.
one of the biggest complaints i kept getting was that re4r retconned aeon. which is just kind of a weird thing because why would capcom retcon a relationship in the second date? we have to remember that re4 has always been their second meeting. they still have damnation, re6 and potentially even more aeon that we haven't see like off screen re5.
one of the biggest things that they criticized was that leon and ada, "fell in love immediately," and they wanted to rectify that with a more realistic interpretation of the ship. this makes sense to me, and although it's a lot more angst filled, we still have to remember this is early as fuck in their relationship.
additionally, i still think that when ada gives leon the rocket launcher at the end, he has a sudden realization that ada had been helping him all along, that she was the one that gave him the one in raccoon city. that the keychain for the jetski was always her making sure that he could get out as well. because TO BE FAIR. he HAD LITTLE WAYS OF ESCAPE. he lost track of hunnigan and his potential route off the island. realistically, leon was FUCKED and he had no way off the island. even if ada didn't give him the key, he was STILL KINDA FUCKED because of the bombs because of wesker.
once the things fall into place, he realizes things along the boat ride, and i think that's also for us as an audience to speculate. older audiences knows that leon and ada see each other again. i want them to see each other again to bridge the gaps.
things to note
SW being made by the same team that did re3r is a bit funny since re3r was a pretty big disappointment to a lot of fans
similarly a lot of people were mad at the $10 price tag for SW despite the fact that this is a additional campaign and was longer than re3r and funner.
OG SW was always free, which is why a lot of people were mad, but like- get fucked dude. if you want to be mad at that, you also have to be mad at the microtransactions in the main campaign then.
SW was still well done, i just have a few things that i thought were lacking.
wesker absolutely had ada's DNA (from the bed scene, i think he also injected her with an inhibitor (of sorts like luis had) but also took something from her, and i think it would tie nicely into a re6r if he and simmons had contact prior to re5.
we still never got to see what was in bob bear kennedy (is that the name? lol)
gameplay 9/10
story/plot 7/10
characters 7/10
aeon 7/10
overall 30/40
i might have additional things to say but that's all i got for now lol
thanks for reading my garbage
and again

I Wish I Could Walk In Heels
AN: Here's a new chapter! Sorry it took so long. I had a lot of stuff going on this month. But I thank you all for your patience. Also, realized I've been spelling Señorita wrong. I've been spelling it as Sénorita. And none of you said a thing. Thanks a lot lmao. I'm kidding. I'll fix it when and if I edit in the future. Enjoy!
Chapter 28:
Leon took no time at all to use the hand he had on your arm to pull and fling you entirely out of Krauser's knife range, saving your life with an impressive speed and strength you could not believe.
You could be all poetic and say something along the lines of, “my life flashed before my eyes”, or the works. But truthfully, it all happened so fast. You had no time to truly comprehend any of what just happened until you were sprawled out on the ground after a hard and painful landing, harshly blinking in an attempt to clear your blurry vision and dizziness.
Honestly, you preferred this over what could have happened when Krauser attacked. You were scarily close to being fatally wounded by that knife.
It was too close. You could have ended up like-
Luis!
You quickly gathered your thoughts and sat up immediately, urgently making your way over to a pained Luis, who was still laying on the ground and thankfully breathing. Leon and Krauser have gotten into their own battle with knives in hand. And you think you heard something about Krauser being involved or the cause of Ashley being kidnapped by the cult, but you weren't worried about that at the moment. You were more focused on the wounded man now in front of you.
“Oh no… Luis.” You muttered, crouching down to his level with an obvious horror in your eyes. A lot of blood has pooled around your friend as he had somehow brought himself up to a somewhat seated position.
“That bad, huh Señorita?” He chuckled sardonically, knowing exactly how bad it actually was.
You couldn't gather the will to laugh. Not even a pity laugh. You just couldn't.
Instead, you let out a small sigh of equal parts fear and sadness. “It's not great, Luis.” You swiftly searched your supplies for something to help. “Here, lean forward and let me see if I can help patch it up or-”
He shook his head in denial, grimacing. “No point… There is nothing you can do.”
You began to rummage through the tiny med kit you found and took out. “Well I think I should try.”
It's worth the effort. Your friend is worth the effort.
“No Señorita.” He told you again.
“Luis-”
He stopped his shaky breath long enough to speak to you with a stern and serious voice, stopping you from protesting his requests any further. “There is no point, Y/n. Where he stabbed…ugh…I know there is only a matter of time.”
You frowned, “There must be something I can do, Luis.” He just grinned shakily, an attempt to comfort both you and himself, before it turned into a grimace as he shifted. His eyes shifted to the two still occupied with their fight.
“I…I need to call Ada… Hand me my radio?” He requested, not feeling able to exert the energy to try and get it from the depths of his pocket.
Shutting your eyes in frustration, and in an attempt to keep your watery eyes at bay, you carefully maneuvered around him to take the radio from his pocket, before handing it over. He gingerly took the radio from your grasp and set the channel to contact Ada's.
Luis grunted and continued to breathe heavily in pain as the call connected. “Ada… A bad guy… Krauser… just stole the Amber! Leon's fighting him now.”
“I'm on my way!” Ada's voice spoke from the speaker.
“I'm sorry. I'm not going to make it. I'll send you my files. They should help…”
Ada, confused about what was happening and what Luis meant, asked, “The Amber, Luis. Where is it?”
Luis huffed a small laugh. “Thank you. Both you and Y/n…” He made eye contact with you for the first time since this call started. Making sure you understand he is speaking to you as well. “For the chance to do good again.”
“What are you saying?” Ada was not understanding that Luis was saying his dying words.
“I'm grateful… Like I said. I'm just your good ol’ Samaritan.” He let out a pained sound.
“How about you and Sénorita help Leon when I'm gone, eh?” He questioned you with a look, and you nodded in agreement. You would have tried to help Leon either way. He didn't have to ask. Ada was the one to be persuaded. “Speaking of, ugh, sounds like he needs me.”
With a speed that surprised you and before you could stop him, Luis struggled to his feet as Leon fell to the ground, about to be stabbed by Krauser. Pistol now in hand, Luis shoots the knife in Krauser's own hand, causing him to recoil in surprise.
Krauser jumped far away with a growl as Luis shot again. The snarl seemed to be permanently resting on his scarred face.
“Enough play, rookie. You haven't changed a damn bit. What a disappointment.” Krauser put his knife away, and without a second glance, he left the room.
Luis yelled out as he fell back to the ground again, catching yours and Leon's attention and reminding you of his dire situation. You helped Luis by gently leaning him back against a crate, careful of his wound.
Your heart dropped, really getting a good look at him. His skin had paled considerably and there was blood dripping from his mouth. He looked so weak and exhausted. A shell of how he was not moments ago. And there was nothing you could do. With no medical experience and him having already lost so much blood, it was too late.
“Not looking good, eh, my friend? And such a loss to the ladies of the world. Don't you think, Señorita?” Luis joked weakly, words becoming too much effort for him to form.
You placed a gentle hand on his arm in comfort, smiling back as best you could as Leon shook his head sadly.
“Don't talk.” Leon told the man.
Luis just took Leon's hand, giving him something. “Take this. The key to my laboratory. Go there…and remove those damn… parasites…”
He took out a cigarette and placed it in his mouth. “Help…Ashley…” He attempts to light his lighter, before fumbling and dropping it to the ground. Leon immediately picked it up and lit Luis's cigarette.
Luis breathed in the smoke once it was lit, coughing a little from the strain of it all. “You know, I led a pretty shitty life. But now, eh…what do you both think? People can change, right?”
Neither you or Leon had the chance to respond, as immediately after the question was asked, Luis's head slowly dropped from the weight and his eyes became vacant, glazing over. The barely smoked cigarette fell from his bloodied lips to the dirty ground below beside his lap.
You couldn't help the tears that developed in your eyes over the few short minutes it took for your once lively and eager friend to pass. His blank eyes and still form sent a wave of grief to wash over you. Grief and anger. Feelings that are so painful and so very familiar to you. These emotions unwillingly send harsh memories of Ben and Katherine through your mind. More of your friends, people you cared deeply for, who had met their untimely demise in such different, and yet equally brutal ways. Luis was just another friend you couldn't save.
Leon looked sadly upon the fallen man, only now truly understanding the length Luis would have gone for redemption and to make amends. He may have done bad things and worked for an evil organization in the past, but he wasn't a bad man. That much was crystal clear to you both.
Leon placed the lighter he held in Luis's palm as you tried to pull yourself together. You didn't even really know Luis, but you still mourn the fact that you will never get the chance to. You didn't get the chance to get him out of Los Iluminados like he was promised.
“You were a fine knight, Don Quixote.” Leon spoke, placing a hand on Luis's shoulder before standing to full height. He turned and faced you with an apologetic look.
“He can't get away with this, Leon.” You declared, a strangled sound escaping your throat as you choked back the rest of your tears.
“Krauser won't get away with this. I'll make sure of it.” He promised, extending his hand to help you to your feet.
You nodded, wiping your face dry of any tears, before taking his hand and standing up. He patted your arm before taking the lead, finding the elevator out of the mineshaft.
There was a silence between you that neither of you knew how to break. You weren't sure if you wanted to yet. There were things you wanted to ask him and talk about. What exactly happened with him and Sherry after you both went your separate ways? What had he been doing for the past six years? You had some idea of his story, but you still felt like this was something that should be talked about. You had left him, after all.
And who knows if you both would live long enough to be able to talk about it.
Before you could bring it up, you and Leon heard his radio beep, meaning there was an incoming call. He fished it out from his pocket and answered the call, Ada's voice ringing out for you both to hear.
“Leon. There is only time to say this once, so listen up. They took your friend to the top of the clock tower. If you hurry, you might get there before she turns into one of them.” Ada informed, straight to the point and clearly in a hurry.
“Ah, so you aren't heartless after all. I guess I should be…thankful?” Leon snarked.
“Yeah, you should.” Ada smirked, before questioning, “Is Y/n still with you?”
Leon glanced at you. “Yeah, she is. Want to say hi?”
“Hey, Y/n. I tried calling your radio, but no luck. Did you break another one? Like you did on the last mission?” She quickly asked, concerned in her tone.
You reach for the radio in your back pocket, wincing in shame when you see it had, in fact, broken. Probably from the rough landing after jumping out of the airborne mine cart.
“Unfortunately, I did. Sorry.” You lamely apologized.
“No worries, just checking in. I have to go. We'll talk later. Stay safe and stay together.” The call ended, just as you and Leon's elevator ride came to a halt.
“Clock tower?” You asked Leon for confirmation.
He nodded, stepping out of the lift and beckoning you to follow. “The clock tower.”
—
You startled when a sharp and slow clapping echoed throughout the clock tower immediately as you and Leon entered. You both looked up and saw a short man in a powdered wig and old fashion royalty style clothing glaring down at Leon.
“You are nothing if not unyielding, Mr. Kennedy.” The man snarled, completely disregarding your presence. Which was perfectly fine with you.
“However, I am afraid it ends here.” The man turns to leave. “Expel this intruder!” He ordered his people. And with their variety of weapons in hand, they attack.
“Shit.” Leon cursed, immediately breaking a yellow barrel in search of anything useful before they could reach you.
“Want to dodge and shoot as we make a run to the top of the tower?” You asked, shooting at the head of a man running at you with a torch as Leon nodded, both of you working together to get each other out safely.
You grimaced as the blood got everywhere. Honestly, it has never been your favorite part of the experience. You still feel guilt from harming them, thinking about the people they could have been before the parasites took over and turned them into mindless and violent vessels to be controlled. It is terrible.
But you try to not think of it any longer and focus more on surviving the wave of attackers. Live now. Grieve later.
Thankfully, you both were able to hold your own and make it to the top. Leon immediately took out his binoculars as the clock tower bell rang loudly, trying to see if he could catch any sight of Ashley and her captors.
“Ashley!” Leon gasped, finding her location. You immediately looked at the direction he was facing, vaguely seeing the shapes of Ashley being dragged into the building with the short man from earlier following.
“That son of a bitch.”
“Damn. And we just climbed all the way up here.” You snarked, genuinely upset by the fact you climbed all those stairs for no reason.
Leon shook his head with an exhausted huff, smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. He put away his binoculars, and began to walk away, gesturing to you to follow.
“Going down is easier. Let's go.” He urged. You groaned as you followed after him.
“You're lucky I like you.” You joked half-heartedly.
He chuckled dryly, “I'm honored.”
“You should be.”
—
You and Leon ran as fast as you physically could. Catching a glimpse of Ashley being carried away by Krauser.
“Ashley!” Leon called out, pistol in hand, but unwilling to shoot when she was being carried, not wanting to risk hitting her.
“Leon!” Ashley weakley called back, hand raised as if to reach out for him as the wooden draw doors raised to shut behind them. Only you, Leon, and the short man called Ramón were left in the area.
Ramón started, “Such a fool, Mr. Kennedy. To have been bestowed with Lord Saddler's grave, and yet failed to-” Leon looked away with a grunt of annoyance, before interrupting the ranting Ramón.
“You talk too much.” Leon took out his gun and shot Ramón twice.
Ramón growled as he grabbed at his chest in pain and anger. “You vulgar, utterly uncivilized-”
Leon shoots him once more, the shot landing right in the head, causing Ramón to fall back from the ledge. He growled out the word “mongrel” as he fell. Leon lowered his gun as your eyes widened in grim realization. You felt dumb for not realizing sooner…
Ramón was infected.
“Leon, I don't think he died that easily.” You muttered with dread, knowing there was about to be a boss battle of some mutated creature man thing.
“No? I'm hopeful.” Leon casually responded.
“Do people usually talk after a kill shot to the head?” You rhetorically questioned, as the ground began to shake and sounds began to echo across the large castle area.
He shook his head and sighed, raising the gun once more as you did yours. “Guess not.”
“Allow me to show you…” A monestrous voice growled in fury. “the power I have been granted by my master. The power of God!”
A very large and grotesque monster that could, maybe almost but not really, resemble a dragon flew up from the depths Ramón had fallen into moments ago. “The stage is set for the final act!” The mouth of the monster opened like a teethy, carnivorous flower, showing a mutated Ramón attached to the beast. Yellow eyes and all.
He spits, or more like projectile vomits, some black goo that you and Leon roll out of range of. Neither of you wants to know what would happen if it got on your skin. Judging by the hissing sound that came from the mysterious substance, you could guess it was acidic.
“You're nothing but an extra in my script, Mr. Kennedy. So don't get too carried away. Your biggest scene is over.” Monster Ramón said, flying around as you and Leon mentally formed a game plan.
“Leave me out of your crappy script.” Leon grunted.
“At least you're included.” You mocked in jest, not even a little mad about not being mentioned once by the flying monstrosity.
“Well then, why don't you show me what a first-class script is like… through your own actions!” Ramón exclaimed, going for the attack.
You and Leon scrambled out of the way, shooting at any weak spots you could see. The main goal was the yellow eyes. Always aim for the yellow eyes.
You and Leon didn't need to talk out a plan. You both would shoot, and when the creature harshly landed on the ground, he would run up and stab the yellow, goopy, eyes. Once there was a rhythm, the fight seemed rather repetitive and predictable. And, eventually, it was over.
Landing harshly on the ground, the man turned monster groaned weakly and called out, “Please help me… Lord Saddler…”
Ramón falls once and for all, dead. The tremble of the massive form dropping makes the wooden door drop down, now open for you and Leon to be able to chase after Ashley.
You breathed deeply, struggling to regain your composure after all of that running. Leon was taking a short moment to do the same. A very short moment. Too short for your liking, because soon after, he was nudging your boot with his own and gesturing to the now opened door.
“Come on. We have to get going now.” He stood up straight and nudged you forward, urging you onwards. You looked at him incredulously.
“What are you? A superhero? How are you not exhausted right now? I'm bone tired.”
He huffed a weak laugh, nudging you forward by the back once more. “Oh believe me, I am.”
