I suppose I imagined it sort of like carbyne, with the Power being used to stabilize the bonds and provide strength within the existing bonds. Cause yeah nothing is truly “unbreakable” so the object would still need a “connection” to the Power to exist.
“and [Egwene] could feel the chain, feel inside the chain, feel the tiniest bits of the cold metal, the patterns they made.”
My headcanon is that making cuendillar involves manipulation on an atomic level, and I thought this quote was a nice sort of example of Egwene laying foundations for that.
#it is funny to think about quarks tho#Egwene’s like well you just bottom all the tops and charm all the stranges and then you have cuendillar!#wot book spoilers

ooc: [ouuugh.... here comes HUMANOID ELECTRON!!!! RAAAHHH!!!]
[my gay awakening /j]
[now that ive finished making humanoid electron, this means that YOU get to have MORE TRIVIA!!! GO WORLDBUILDING GO!!!]
cutting off an electron's tail (they all have tails) means an eventual and slow degradation of the electron's mental state. electrons need their tails to plug themselves into outlets and absorb energy there, as well as absorbing energy from areas around them. once their tail is removed, their minds will gradually break apart from exhaustion until they are a shell of their former self.
the more piercings and accessories an electron has, the more it communicates to other electrons that they will be willing to put up a fight and won't hesitate to beat you into little quark chunks. it's basically a sign of strength and dominance, as well as an intimidation tactic. this electron knows this very well - it used to have no accessories, making it an easy victim for bored atoms before learning that it was safer to be scary. didn't help that much, though - but at least it made zap feel better about zapself.
some electrons have leg nubs, while some electrons don't. electrons never have full legs. this has made a social hierarchy within electrons: nubless electrons are seen as more powerful, because they believe having legs are a burden to their flying abilities. "nubbed" electrons are stereotypically seen as weak and terrible at flying. when used in a derogatory manner, "nubbed" (e.g. "ha! he's nubbed!") is considered a slur. this has caused some "nubbed" electrons to try and forcibly remove their leg nubs just so they don't have to be the brunt of harassment. some succeed, but they're left with permanent scarring and throbbing, chronic pains.
electrons are very proud of their flying abilities, and are extremely competitive about it. they host flying contests all the time to see who's fastest. because of the society electrons have built between themselves, most electrons are very sore losers and will do anything to get their ego and status back. anything. some electrons don't care about how low they have to stoop, as long as they gain respect and/or are feared by others.
in the hierarchy of atoms in general, electrons are at the bottom, with neutrons being in the middle, and protons being in the top.
electrons are in the bottom because they're "small and annoying", as stated by many atoms. they are treated like objects to be traded and passed around, as if they didn't have any thoughts or feelings, hence why electrons have made such a harsh society between themselves: they want to feel power.
neutrons are in the middle because they're just kind of there. they float around, stick with other atoms for a while, and then wander off. sometimes they're seen as nuisances, but because they aren't as tiny as electrons, they at least gain some semblance of respect. some neutrons, despite being mostly neutral, hate feeling emotionless because of their neutrality (as if they could even feel hate). they feel some sort of jealousy and envy for protons because they have stronger emotions, and will partake in the harassment of electrons just to feel something. anything.
protons are in the top because they're seen as the most powerful of all the sub-atomic particles. they make elements and do all the atom stuff. they're the ones who collect and pass around electrons. protons are expected to be natural leaders and are mostly controlling and demanding. there is also a hierarchy between protons as well - because protons are expected to be extremely good at managing protons and are seen as powerful, protons in bigger atoms are more respected while protons in smaller atoms are less respected and seen as incompetent. protons are always pressured by themselves and others to get more powerful, get bigger, do better. this puts a lot of mental strain on them, so sometimes they will relieve themselves by harassing electrons - usually the ones that they "own". harassing electrons that are "owned" by another proton is seen as a sign of blatant disrespect and great offense. this is why most electrons, despite the harsh conditions, always try and find an atom to be "owned" by - sometimes they go and provoke neighboring protons, or wait until another proton harasses them, so that their "owner" proton can protect them. this is pretty much the only circumstance in which a proton will fully and willingly protect and defend an electron.
electrons and neutrons don't bother with names. some protons do, but expect basically everyone to be named "proton", "neutron", or "electron".
[ohhh buddy. ohhh buddy. atom society is fucked up. expect more fuckery though because i am NOT done with this fucked up little world i got here]
[dude this was jsut supposed to be haha silly confession blog where did the angst come from 🥺😭😭😭]
#not a confession#electron's excellents#ooc: [humina humina electron my pookie 🤤🤤🤤😍😍😍 /j]#electron's (obvious) lore drops#electron's art shit!!!

Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - THE CROMER
Masterlist
First Appearance: Diary Film
Hongjoong is asleep on the couch when his alternate self from the Black Pirates appears to him in a dream and hands it over
Hongjoong awakens and the Cromer rests on the coffee table in front of him, indicating the Black Pirate was not just in his dream but physically switched from the Z- to the A-World
Known Versions
Z-World: Destroyed by Yeosang in Deja Vu/Fever Part 3 Diary Entries
A-World: Currently in use by Ateez/Black Pirates after being taken to Z-World following Yeosang's destruction of the original Z-World Cromer
Presumed: Unknown World/Halazia World: giant shattered Cromer Yunho was sitting in (could've originated from yet another reality) plus the unknown shattered Cromer seen at the end of Crazy Form
Unknown Location: The 4 Witnesses in Halazia also utilized a Cromer
CROMER ABILITIES:
The origin of the Cromer's powers are unclear. However, Sciensalvar has a theory in both the A- and Z-World:
A-World: it's a Mayan Relic with inherent power
Z-World: it contains some form of Quantum Energy (whatever that means - quantum just means extremely small, like quark-sized small)
Important side-note: the Cromer's abilities are influenced by the phases of the moon which also dictate its size. This is first mentioned in the Fever Epilogue Diary Entries
Time Travel - UNKNOWN
Visual Indicator:
The sand inside the Cromer flows from bottom to top.
Documented Instances of time travel:
Ateez when they first travel to Z-World: Forward in time
Ateez when they returned to the A-World: Back in time
Presumed: Halazia's Ateez: back in time within the Z-World
The first time is made less clear but took place right after Z-World's Hongjoong handed over the Cromer to his alternate self.
Proof of this is, for one, the gravity-defying sand in the Cromer which can be seen in the Fever Part 1 Diary Entries, but also a scene from the Fever Part 2 Diary Entries in which the Grimes siblings know the Black Pirates were captured by the time they first meet Ateez right after their arrival in the Z-World.
At that point, enough time must've passed for the news to reach the siblings. This implies Ateez travelled forward in time when they moved to the Z-World since the Black Pirates were captured right after the Cromer was handed over and A-World's Ateez came here right after receiving it.
The second instance took place when Yeosang shattered the Cromer to save his members while he was being captured by the Android Guardians at the end of the Fever Part 3 Diary Entries and leading into the Fever Epilogue Entries.
They assumed it was because the Cromer was destroyed but, as we learned in the Golden Hour: Part 2 Diary Entries, shattering the Cromer doesn't just lead to travel through time but also between worlds. Which requirements are needed for time travel thus remains unclear.
The final instance is in the Halazia MV in which Ateez from yet another world travelled into the Z-World back in time to create the Sopro which was then used by the Black Pirates and A-World's Ateez to free the people of Strictland. In the MV, we once again see a broken Cromer.
Jumping Between Realities - FULL MOON
First of all, I'd like to clarify that early diary entries referred to the alternate universes as different "dimensions". However, that term is normally used to talk about the three spacial and one time dimension our real universe is made up of (given our current understanding of it) which is why I call them "worlds" or "realities" like newer Ateez content does.
Documented Instances of travel between worlds:
Black Pirate Hongjoong: Z to A to Z in Diary Film
Ateez: A to Z in Diary Film
Ateez minus Yeosang: Z to A in Deja Vu
Ateez: A to Z in Fever Epilogue Diary Entries
Presumed: Halazia's Ateez: Halazia World to Z, then Z to A
Ateez: Golden Hour Part 1/2
Visual Indicators and Required Circumstances:
In Diary Film, the Cromer lights up as the jump is happening which we've also seen at the end of Deja Vu
An early warning sign of what's to come seems to be a gravitation anomaly; objects begin to float like we're used to seeing in zero gravity environments while other objects and (in this case) Hongjoong remain firmly on the ground
This is something we get to witness again during Halazia in the Z-World in which Yunho is sitting in the remnants of a giant Cromer (the moon must've been extremely close or something else must've gone really wrong to blow it up to these proportions)
Here, Ateez escaped from their original world to the Z-World but, unlike in Diary Film, the Cromer seems to have been destroyed to activate these powers
We're presented with another presumed instance of Reality-Jumping in Matz when we see Halazia's Hongjoong and Seonghwa take down Sciensalvar in the A-World
Unfortunately, neither moon phase, nor Cromer are shown here
What stands out here is one thing: inconsistency
In Diary Film, the Cromer was smaller than in Halazia, but larger than in Fever Part 3 and, additionally, in Halazia, Fever Part 3, and Golden Hour Part 2, the Cromer had to be shattered to enable its world-jumping abilities while it remained intact in Diary Film and Matz where we see them use its other abilities
So what gives? I think it's got to do with the amount of energy needed for a leap between worlds; depending on the moon phase, the Cromer can provide varying amounts of energy, and if it's not the right moon phase for a leap, then breaking it is the only way to set free enough energy to make a jump possible.
Travelling Into Dreams - CRESCENT MOON
Unlike the former power, this one is less flashy but we do get to see it used just as frequently as it allows for more fun, out there music video concepts.
Documented Instances of Dream Travel:
Black Pirate Hongjoong: Hongjoong's Dream in Diary Film
Potential: Ateez: a shared dream in Eternal Sunshine
Ateez: a shared dream in Illusion
Black Pirate: Ateez's shared dream in Illusion
Ateez: a shared dream in Wave
Black Pirates: a shared dream with all Strictland residents in Crazy Form
Visual Indicators and Required Circumstances:
Diary Film: Hongjoong is asleep while he sees his alternate self who is gone when he wakes
Eternal Sunshine: Unnatural colors, laws of nature and physics do not apply
Illusion: Everyone is asleep at the beginning of the MV, the environment is all pastels, backgrounds are often cartoonish and nonsensical
Notably, the crescent moon is shown on multiple occasions which links dream-travelling with this moon phase for the first time
Wave: Once again, the MV begins with everyone waking up which makes 'Illusion' a dream within a dream
In addition, we also have this album's aptly named track "Crescent" with the repeated line of "Open your eyes" so we can now safely connect the power to the crescent moon
Crazy Form: We open on a crescent moon shot, Black Pirate Hongjoong fires his finger gun and real bullets appear, the video has frequently glitches, cartoon panels pop up, etc.
Additionally, we also get the album track "Crescent Part 2"
Teleportation - UNCLEAR
Given the frequent use of this ability, I currently believe it to be non-moon phase dependant, meaning it can be accessed at all times.
Documented Instances of Teleportation:
Fever Part 2 Diary Entries
Direct quote from Seonghwa's entry:
The Central Government put the men in Black Fedora on the wanted list, but they repeatedly failed to arrest them due to them being able to teleport using the Cromer.
Guerrilla
At the beginning of the MV, Hongjoong teleports away from the rooftop
The jump is indicated by the screen flashing red and a whooshing sound effect
Movement Diary Version: The Revolution
At the beginning of the revolution, when the Black Pirates and Ateez are performing in the streets and handing out flyers, Android Guardians try to catch them
To avoid capture, they begin to teleport short distances among the chaos, allowing them to complete the mission and return safely to their hideout
Outlaw - The World Ep. 2 Diary Entries
Yunho uses teleportation to safe the boy's brother from falling to his death and (presumably) to safe Wooyoung from getting snatched up by a Guardian
Both Ateez and the Black Pirates also uses teleportation as a part of their performance for the Prestige Academy students
Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries
Half of Ateez use the Cromer to teleport prisoners out of the Disposal Site before also using it to teleport back to rejoin the rest
Mingi uses it to safe the boy from falling into the incinerator and dying like his brother
He also uses it to dispose of the remaining Android Guardians at the Disposal Site
San teleports them away from the Disposal Site before it could bury them as it exploded
Matz
Hongjonong and Seonghwa seem to teleport at 1:54
A negative frame is seemingly used to indicate this
IT's You
Wooyoung, Yeosang, and San teleport at the conclusion of the MV
A negative frame flashes before black grain blurs into their frame and makes it seem like they're dissipating

thanks for responding to my ask! i'd be interested in moodboards for Antigreen, i'd love to find out more about other inspirations for it. (also, is Calliope's last name an intentional reference to mondegreens?)
Alright fasten your iridescent seatbelts because I'm about to ~yap~ about Antigreen (AO3)
First up: what's in a title? Food (flavor) colouring, for one:
Quarks are the fundamental building blocks of matter, and there's six flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top (formerly truth), and bottom (formerly beauty). They all carry colour charge, which can be red, green, or blue, or for antiquarks their opposites: antired (cyan), antigreen (magenta), antiblue (yellow). The core six in AG (Callie, Ettie, Sawyer, Annette, Erika, Michael) all get a color and a quark each. (Which is which is left as an exercise to the reader lol)
Magenta is most interesting to me because it's not a spectral color: it's the only one of the six that's not monochromatic, or 'real', it's an illusion we perceive when something has high amounts of both red and blue light.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cf5e78dcd4fef8ebe8fbfdc89fc95208/02a6368a8a3b7e2c-86/s540x810/2051b324fa570f4a881e75c63b0c4cabd331616d.jpg)
The visible spectrum: you won't find pink here!
That's the kind of dichotomy I was going for with 'Antigreen': the word evokes both greenness (the Earth, growth, but also stagnation, a toxic color that often meant death ) and antigreenness (pink, irreality, something unnatural and alien). It's the perfect word to marry the two together; it represents CalliEttie themselves to me!
Pink/magenta also has a history of being used to represent the titular Colour Out of Space, one of Lovecraft's better short stories, about an unnatural alien hue that arrives on Earth. It's used this way in a few adaptations, below which is a gif from the 2019 film version:
(The Colour Out of Space, 2019, IMDB)
Pink is used for various eldritch stuff in other media too, once you notice it once you kinda start to see it everywhere, beware...
The 2019 Colour is good, but I honestly think Annihilation (2018) is a better expression of similar ideas. It concerns a group of women investigating a meteorite that's landed at a lighthouse and is slowly warping the surrounding area:
(Annihilation, 2018, IMDB)
Shit does indeed get warped as fuck; I recommend.
Annihilation has some really great examples of the Gothic sublime . Think glimpsing a tidal wave, staring up at a mountain, or being on the edge of a black hole. Something so great and terrible that it overwhelms the senses, the kind of awful beauty that brings tears to your eye, and can't be easily described in words.
That's what cosmic horror's all about! imo, anyway: Antigreen is about what happens when a(sapphic)n earthly and unearthly realm meet, and I've hopefully made Esther seem suitably sublime.
Anyway that's the inspo behind the title, and why Esther's strongly associated with the color pink (of my made-up/constructed color names, nemaphlox would be the applicable one I guess).
I'd leave it here for now, with plans to do another of these for Callie and Ettie, but I have to also answer your question: (remember that? It was so long ago and so many pixels above, sorry)
> Is Calliope's last name an intentional reference to mondegreens?
Yep, again, spot on! A mondegreen is the English term for misheard lyrics, and is autological: it describes itself. I swapped the last two letters, making Mondegrene, for a few reasons:
- obscures the origin to make a slightly more plausible surname
- enables various bad French calembours like mond de grené ("grainy world", fitting for a little speck like Calliope). Disclaimer: I rather suck at French
- also similar to French grenade (pomegranate), a fruit with very gay associations
Lastly (I promise!) I'll link the cover art I had made with the ambigram I designed. The swirls are intended to evoke tracks in particle-detecting cloud chambers!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ce8f1455ab7740d6ce72c7746482d25b/02a6368a8a3b7e2c-e7/s540x810/adf38da074b894b1c2700717aa7a164759c4f930.jpg)
Thanks for putting up with this~ I will do more of these if people enjoy them!

"regular kylar is on thin ice tho" REAL!!! THIS BIATCH KEEPS ABDUCTING ME TO HIS DIRTY ASS MANOR EVERYTIME. LIKE IM SORRY ROBIN HAS A BETTER D THAN YOU?!? Seriously considering dismissing him again until october rolls around so i can get his halloween event along with the school play event.
Time for my honestly time because I have many problems with kylar-
Kylar is a noncommittal poor representation of the yan archetype (and I think a part of that is he can't be a full "I'd do anything for you" yan because it might break the game) but still he has some major flaws that I can't get behind along with my personal bias twords characters that want to force me to be dominant.
Kylars story is actually pretty good and I really like this monster parents thing I think it adds a lot of flavour and makes kylars social behavouir and his quarks believeable in a weird way- of course he has weird shit going on all the time he lives in a mad house. But the underbelly of him actually wanting to care for his parents as if they are just very old or very sick instead of being afraid of them or abandoning them tells me a lot about kylar as a charactor. He's committed to a fault and that is compelling as hell
But kylars need to stalk the pc. Only half hearted attempts at saving the pc. The fight with whitney is pretty lack luster. (Again I think it's because you can't just have a charactor stab another without changing the games makeup.) All and all kylar is a pretty ineffective yandere.
And although you can make that a real charactor thing kylar is a threat pc is suposed to take seriously rather be annoyed by constantly and I think this is a major flaw.
Kylar isn't a threat. He's pathetic. And repetitive. His love is obvouis and over the top and the hysteria berley does anything. Kylar isn't hunting the pc down when theyre kidnapped by a third party or keeping the pc from getting other things done. He's just.... kinda around kinda not? And when he does kidnap the pc his actions are strange. It's a loop of feed-entertain-sex until he has to leave.
If he was amped up more- more committed to making your life hell. More violent. More hysteric. I think I might like kylar more. But for someone who is engrossed by the yandere archetype kylar is like a watered down version of a thing I usually enjoy. And so he falls a little flat for me.
That being said. He's also a sub. And I'm also like a major sub-bottom so it was never going to work out

Deutschribing Germany
Cuisine
Meal times
The German proverb Iss dein Frühstück wie ein Kaiser, Mittagessen wie ein König und Abendessen wie ein Bettler (Eat your breakfast like an emperor, lunch like a king, and dine like a pauper) sums up the German outlook toward meals.
A typical day begins with Frühstück (breakfast), when people drink coffee, tea, or hot cocoa and eat muesli with yogurt or milk or bread with butter, jam, honey, chocolate and hazelnut spread, sausage, or cheese. Some people also drink juice and eat a boiled egg. This usually takes place between 6 and 8 a.m. Children usually eat a mid-morning snack at school called Pausenbrot (recess sandwich) that consists of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, or a muesli bar. The adult version is called Zwischenmahlzeit (in-between meal).
Mittagessen (lunch) takes place between 12 and 2 p.m. A typical lunch dish includes potato salad with sausage or meatballs and meat with potatoes or vegetables. It is common for family members and friends to gather between 3 and 5 p.m. for Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake).
Abendessen (dinner) is eaten between 6 and 7 p.m. Sometimes it is a light cold meal with bread and cold cuts, in which case it is called Abendbrot (evening bread). Dinner normally consists of a salad or soup, bread, cheese, meat or sausages, mustard, and pickles.
Dishes
German cuisine varies from region to region, and what is considered typically German is actually typical in the south, mainly Bavaria, where cuisine is similar to that in Austria. There are also international varieties such as doner kebab, pizza, sushi, Chinese food, Greek food, Indian food, and Vietnamese food.
Bread and sausage are staples of the German diet. There are about 600 types of bread and almost 1,500 sausage varieties, including Bratwurst (made of ground pork, beef, or veal and spices) and Weißwurst (white sausage eaten with sweet mustard, a pretzel, and beer).
The national alcoholic drink is beer, of which there are many varieties, including Helles (a pale lager beer produced in southern Germany), Radler (a beer mixed with lemonade), and Weizenbier (a top-fermented beer brewed with a large proportion of wheat relative to the amount of malted barley).

Some breads contain both wheat and rye flour and are called Mischbrot. Others have seeds such as linseed and sunflower seeds and are wholegrain (Vollkornbrot). Bread can also be made from spelt (Dinkelbrot), rye (Roggenbrot), or a mix of these with wheat.
Brötchen (bread rolls) are also very common and can be made from the same cereals and seeds as normal bread.
Currywurst
Currywurst is Berlin's most famous dish and consists of a pork sausage with ketchup and curry powder.
Eierschecke
Eierschecke, whose name is derived from a tripartite piece of clothing, consists of three layers: the bottom one is either a yeast dough or made with baking soda, the middle layer is a cream made of quark, vanilla, butter, egg, sugar, and milk, and the top one is made from eggs, butter, sugar, and vanilla pudding powder. It is a specialty from Saxony and Thuringia.

Also I know I keep talking about quark but entire ds9 cast is so pitch perfect it's so firing on all cylinders good from top to bottom I rarely have anything to say besides "wow quark wanted to get ducked SOOOOOO bad and it didn't happen AGAIN"

Still no signs of dark matter particles
In the 1930s, Swiss astronomer Fritz Zwicky observed that the velocities of galaxies in the Coma Cluster were too high to be maintained solely by the gravitational pull of luminous matter. He proposed the existence of some non-luminous matter within the galaxy cluster, which he called dark matter. This discovery marked the beginning of humanity's understanding and study of dark matter.
Today, the most precise measurements of dark matter in the universe come from observations of the cosmic microwave background. The latest results from the Planck satellite indicate that about 5% of the mass in our universe comes from visible matter (mainly baryonic matter), approximately 27% comes from dark matter, and the rest from dark energy.
Despite extensive astronomical observations confirming the existence of dark matter, we have limited knowledge about the properties of dark matter particles. From a microscopic perspective, the Standard Model of particle physics, established in the mid-20th century, has been hugely successful and confirmed by numerous experiments. However, the Standard Model cannot explain the existence of dark matter in the universe, indicating the need for new physics beyond the Standard Model to account for dark matter candidate particles, and the urgent need to find experimental evidence of these candidates.
Consequently, dark matter research is not only a hot topic in astronomy but also at the forefront of particle physics research. Searching for dark matter particles in colliders is one of the three major experimental approaches to detect the interaction between dark matter and regular matter, complementing other types of dark matter detection experiments such as underground direct detection experiments and space-based indirect detection experiments.
Recently, the ATLAS collaboration searched for dark matter using the 139 fb-1 of proton-proton collision data accumulated during LHC's Run 2, within the 2HDM+a dark matter theoretical framework. The search utilized a variety of dark matter production processes and experimental signatures, including some not considered in traditional dark matter models. To further enhance the sensitivity of the dark matter search, this work statistically combined the three most sensitive experimental signatures: the process involving a Z boson decaying into leptons with large missing transverse momentum, the process involving a Higgs boson decaying into bottom quarks with large missing transverse momentum, and the process involving a charged Higgs boson with top and bottom quark final states.
This is the first time ATLAS has conducted a combined statistical analysis of final states including dark matter particles and intermediate states decaying directly into Standard Model particles. This innovation has significantly enhanced the constraint on the model parameter space and the sensitivity to new physics.
"This work is one of the largest projects in the search for new physics at the LHC, involving nearly 20 different analysis channels. The complementary nature of different analysis channels to constrain the parameter space of new physics highlights the unique advantages of collider experiments," said Zirui Wang, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan.
This work has provided strong experimental constraints on multiple new benchmark parameter models within the 2HDM+a theoretical framework, including some parameter spaces never explored by previous experiments. This represents the most comprehensive experimental result from the ATLAS collaboration for the 2HDM+a dark matter model.
Lailin Xu, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China stated, "2HDM+a is one of the mainstream new physics theoretical frameworks for dark matter in the world today. It has significant advantages in predicting dark matter phenomena and compatibility with current experimental constraints, predicting a rich variety of dark matter production processes in LHC experiments. This work systematically carried out multi-process searches and combined statistical analysis based on the 2HDM+a model framework, providing results that exclude a large portion of the possible parameter space for dark matter, offering important guidance for future dark matter searches."
Vu Ngoc Khanh, a postdoctoral researcher at Tsung-Dao Lee institute, stated: “Although we have not yet found dark matter particles at the LHC, compared to before the LHC’s operation, we have put stringent constraints on the parameter space where dark matter might exist, including the mass of the dark matter particles and their interaction strengths with other particles, further narrowing the search scope.” Tsung Dao Lee Fellow Li Shu, added: “So far, the data collected by the LHC only accounts for about 7% of the total data the experiment will record. The data that the LHC will generate over the next 20 years presents a tremendous opportunity to discover dark matter. Our past experiences have shown us that dark matter might be different from what we initially thought, which motivates us to use more innovative experimental methods and techniques in our search.”
ATLAS is one of the four large experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The ATLAS experiment is a multipurpose particle detector with a forward–backward symmetric cylindrical geometry and nearly 4π coverage in solid angle. It consists of an inner tracking detector surrounded by a thin superconducting solenoid, high-granularity sampling electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters, and a muon spectrometer with three superconducting air-core toroidal magnets. The ATLAS Collaboration consists of more than 5900 members from 253 institutes in 42 countries on 6 continents, including physicists, engineers, students, and technical staff.

Phonology: Places of Articulation
Last Post:
Okay! So
I want to apologize because I forgot to mention that I'd have to make the decision that phonology would be spoken. I just don't have any experience with a sign language (or languages in other media).
With that said...
Starting with Phonology won with 43%
Skip to the bottom if you just want to vote.
---
I typed out like three books on OT theory and explained the prosodic hierarchy. I think I'll spare the excruciating details because it's less digestable to frontload everything.
But suffice it to say, because of the nested nature of language, high order decisions about how you group things can affect how the individual pieces come into contact. It's kind of like atoms - the configuration of their electrons determines their chemical properties. Likewise, the converse is true; the chemical properties are determined by the configuration of electrons.
I kind of wanted to start from the top, because I thought that more accurately decided the sound of the language early. But it requires kind of knowing everything beneath it, in the same kind of way deciding to want water implies hydrogen and oxygen, while deciding to want hydrogen and oxygen could imply water, hydrogen peroxide, or so on.
I'll explain features, look at natlangs, sketch out a generalization of place, and ask the first question.
--- Information and Features
If we start with empty set, we can't really make much with it. The powerset, which is the set of all subsets or combinations of elements of something, of the empty set is just the empty set. It's not until we add a bit of information to that we start to get more information: the power set of {a} is {{}, {a}}. The powerset of {a,b} is {{}, {a}, {b}, {a,b}}. The powerset of {a,b,c} is {{},{a},{b},{a,b}{c},{a,c},{b,c},{a,b,c}}. Etc. Notice how fast the size of that grows: size 0 gives a power set size 1, 1 2, 2 4, 3 8.
Language use obeys something called Zipf's distribution. Basically, word use correlates inversely to how much information it encodes. This is probably straightforward; you use the word "is" a lot, but the more and rarer words you string together in a sentence makes it more likely you've made a unique utterance. So a little goes a long way.
For what it's worth, I've seen it estimated that most languages use around 8,000 to 20,000 unique words with reasonable frequency (perhaps, the vocabulary size of a fluent speaker of a language), with about 2000 words in daily conversation, expressable in about 500 to 800 unique roots (which generally correspond to unique feet minus one nucleus' worth of information) which in turn reflects inventory sizes around 20 consonants and 5 vowels large (note how 20 cons × 5 vowels × 20 consonants is ~= 2000 daily use words) . Obviously, some languages don't conform to these generalizations. And the generalizations could be wrong themselves but that seems to fit what seems to be about average from the studies I've read.
The unit of information in phonology is probably the feature. But features are like quarks in physics; they're confined to only appear in small bundles called segments. And sometimes features are incompatible, or neutralized together, creating inventories that aren't just x * y. Still, incompatibilities and neutralizations both *remove* possibilities from our total set, so our inventories are going to only be subsets of our big x * y early choice.
Vowels and consonants for some reason have different x * y s, and while not always the case, tend to inversely correlate in inventory sizes. So we'll arbitrarily decide to start with the consonants.
-- Some Minimalistic Natlangs
We're doing something naturalistic, so we should look at the Places and Manners of Articulation for the smallest languages.
Hawaiian has Labials, Linguals, and Glottals by Sonorants, Nasals, and Obstruents with an extra consonant at obstruent x glottal.
Piraha has just three kinds of obstruent with labial, lingual, and glottal places; likely also a single velar obstruent.
Central Rotokas has Labials, Coronals, and Dorsals, by a voicing distinction.
Obokuitai has just stops contrasting with fricatives at labial, coronal, and dorsal places, with an extra voiced coronal stop.
It seems that it's minimal to have 3 POAs and 2 MOAs.
Let's just start with place.
--- Generalizing about Place
Broadly place can be generalized into
labials, which don't tend to get submarked or split into subclasses
Coronals which can split into secondary manner distinctions based on flexing the front of the tongue and place distinctions
*** (roughly, front (dental, alveolar) and
*** back (postalveolar, palatalveolar, retroflex))
dorsals (palatals, velars, uvulars, glottals), which tend to split mostly on place (roughly
***front,
***mid, and
***back).
Exotic places (epiglottals, pharyngeals) do exist as well, but they often conspicuously fit into a hole in the chart in one of the other series. So they probably encode the same information phonologically, even if they're different phonemically. We can make the finer distinctions later.

This is a bottom quark about to change into a top quark. This is an energy intensive change that can damage the transition medium.

I am SO tired of this WOKE SCIENCE!!! ATOMS are made of a NUCLEUS and ELECTRONS that orbit it LIKE A PLANET. I don't want to hear ANY LIBERAL LIES about SUBATOMIC PARTICLES or QUANTUM FIELDS!!! 😡😠 TOP *and* BOTTOM quarks? WHEN will these WOKE LIBERALS have had ENOUGH?? 😡🤬 I REFUSE to live in a WOKE LEFTIST FANTASY WORLD. ACCEPT THE SCIENCE!! Elements are BINARY!! HYDROGEN and HELIUM are the VAST MAJORITY of ALL elements in the universe, and we can't let these AIRHEAD CULTURAL MARXISTS convince us otherwise. Only ONE PERCENT of all elements are not hydrogen or helium, BUT THEY want us to base our ENTIRE WORLDVIEW on this TINY, INCONSEQUENTIAL MINORITY!! My 5th grade teacher knew something as simple as this, so WHAT EXCUSE DO THESE SCIENTISTS HAVE???

Continuing. I seem to be in the midst of a transition, a shift in which terminology is appearing. Example is I started to think of a shift as affine, meaning a shifting around a Boundary, which invokes tangent planes and connections between. It is much easier to understand as I understand Boundary.
The only problem is I get so excited and consumed by you that I can’t control my attention. It’s also that what I’m hearing and seeing or perceiving are MB’s, and the Pathways across the MB’s are not developed, but it is known they exist because the MB generates within a paring of Ends. That specification means there is a pathway.
I keep seeing Ends as scalars and the 1-0Segments as tensors, with 1Segments as vectors. The reason 1-0Segments are tensors is they carve their way through a grid box. So I think what that says is when we construct a 2 way vector, that’s still a 2 way vector, two 1Segments, and the depth is then across the grid box as it expands beyond f&b. That means the or one of the meanings of f&b is that it is where depth is just about to come into existence, before any contraction or lengthening to make up a difference. That’s like saying there’s a scalar existence, measurable as some value relative to other values, and the connections to how you got there or were created, which are vectors to the product.
The images are getting faster. I see a product as having a meaning to a solution that may have no apparent meaning, like if the number is 18, then you win a chicken, and how you got the 18 is unimportant because if you have it, you get a chicken.
That threw me somewhere way far away. The idea bounced me off the LUS, as I used to say. The Mirror of LUS, the mirror meaning the reflection off the ideal 1Space into 0Space. After all, we can’t actually cross over that DE line. What did we call that? There’s the inner edge, the between, and the outer, to make SBE and match 1-0-1//0-1-0, which invokes Irreducibles, which says the bounce back or over must be affine because there must be a connection, so why the experience of dislocation?
There must be gsProcess for this. And that says an Observer shift. And that happens when the color of the relationship changes for the Observer, so what happens is the Actor threads are what picks up the Actor’s attention, meaning whatever Attaches at that location, which is a scalar that relates to this structure or object which is then the Actor’s performance. I’m using scalar as End there because that fits the concept of measurement: there is no single value and if there is then it stands for a lot beyond oh here is the single value.
I was thinking about how the plant image from earlier in the day is growth on a Bip pole, which invokes primes in some way, meaning there must be a gsPrime somewhere. That became way too slippery to pursue. Wouldn’t even know which direction to head.
Oh, direction. Did we talk about quarks enough? The 2 tops add to 1+ and the bottom takes away the + part, which thus says pick one of these and it is what this gsProcess generates. The neutron is just as clear: we get 0 because we’ve literally said the gs which isn’t in the 2, which says that if you pick this top then you’re picking this bottom, and that is in both cases, so yes that clearly cancels. Never thought it would get this simple. OR I did but I didn’t or couldn’t imagine how it could actually be that simple until it became that simple.
I’m going to try to get some sleep. I want to mention that the pain in my knee is decreasing. This is following a similar path as with my toe: once the bone built, it reached a stage where the sense of injury seemed encapsulated, so I could then focus on renewing the toe’s ability to move. I’ve noted that my toe used to be nearly rigid and now it can bend very well. I’m able to do a lot now with my knee: more weight both legs and single, more isolations with weight through the key moves and full range. Example is rising up all the way onto my toes with one leg under weight, and doing that over the front of the knee joint so I become aware of the exactness of the motion. I’m trying to say the movement is selected but not developed, that I could see I need to go through that part of the movement slowly but I couldn’t see how to do that until I could see how to do that. This rapidly diminished, at least temporarily, the sensation of the knee hopping over a bad spot or otherwise not truly being able to see and feel the process.
