#my art #fiber arts #cross stitch #god I wish I had picked a simpler border this took foreverrrrr #I did take a break for like 2 or 3 months and didn’t work on it as often #but like I literally knit a sweater faster than I stitched this #also credit where credit is due raven came up with my catchy title #I wish I had swapped the light and dark greens also but it’s too late #I learned some bitching new techniques for this and also got a like. round clampy frame rather than a hoop #the big font and the border came from dmc I believe and I think I googled for the words #anyway. I have a really cool pattern that I wanna do but also I think another cross stitch might kill me #or maybe I’d have more fun with it bc it’s a pretty picture

What counts as a fast knitter?

I think instagram and tik tok influencers, as well as some of the YouTube knitting podcasts set a very high rate for what you can achieve in a few weeks. Are those realistic normal to you or do you consider them ‘fast knitters’?

Put in the tags if you consider yourself to be a fast or slow knitter, I’m curious.

I was recently gifted 3000-ish yards of mohair yarn. Mohair has never really called to me so I've never bought it or worked with it before.

So... mohair fans: do you have any knitting or crochet pattern recommendations, preferably something quick and easy?

#i'm thinking about holding it two strands together with some regular yarn and just making the world's largest granny square afghan #it makes lovely soft drapey fabric but i did some test swatches and it's so horrible to work with (even worse than eyelash yarn)#yarn #pattern recommendations #mohair #(i would prefer to make anything except a sweater with it because i hate making sweaters but anything else is fine)

#knitting #yes it took me *checks notes* 3 years of knitting to get around to it #i got really into cables and kept making sweaters instead #but my aunt got me a book of colour work patterns and i gather those are easier to knit in the round #i'll probably also get myself a set of cheap double pointed needles and see which version of knitting in the round i like better

Thing I learned: the notes app on my phone has the ability to scan a photo for text and convert it to text in a note - that I can copy and paste!!! Omg - so awesome! Hand writing knitting instruction shorthand is so much EASIER than trying to type that out.

And then I did some knitting math and reminded myself how to subtract … the super large numbers of 22 and 14. 22 - 14 = 8 🤩

All to figure out how many inches of color transition and solid color sections for the rest of the sweater body.

apparently i like making tiny clothes.

these guys are gonna have so many shirts. ill probably end up recreating my entire wardrobe at this point. or ill run out of materials and then just never get new ones. also yes that is virgil sanders' jacket and genloss ranboo's jacket. i got bored. oh and that good terms shirt was just the first thing i made lol.

The 1922 edition of Bear Brand Blue Book is now available on my Etsy!

My copy of the book is extremely delicate and deteriorating, so I'm happy that I was able to scan and restore all 112 pages so it can be enjoyed by people for many years to come.

It is full of both knitting and crochet patterns ranging from women's and men's sweaters and cardigans, children's and babies' wear, blankets, scarves, hats, socks, and stockings.

i have to knit 1.5 full sweater sleeves in the next 36 hours

#in the round thank god #but bottom up with a flat sleeve cap #because the sweater pattern was originally flat and has set-in sleeves not drop sleeves #i just converted it because it's k6 p2 rib and doing the corresponding p6 k2 rows working flat just slows me down #and redid all the maths to account for my gauge #and a different neckline #so at this point we have a ship of theseus situation #is that even the same pattern anymore

#Lynn X Markus #self ship #<3 #I was at odds on who to pick for my first ever birthday comm this year #but once October arrived it became clear who to choose for my special day :3 #The artist updated me on every stage of the process and was very meticulous in trying out various colour palettes for the background :D #my favourite part of this would have to be the pattern on my sweater (I swear it looks better than the ref OAO) and #*waves hand over markus' body* him in his entirety :3c (It looks as if he stepped right out of the character ref .////.)#self ship lore is still a work in progress (then again it never stops does it? XD) but he's one of my most 'slice of life' blorbos.#I wanted the vibe to be 'bf celebrates gf's birthday with casual intimacy and is in utter domestic bliss'. I believe that has been achieved #Mini lore drop: (The gift contains handmade sketches/love letter and sheet music that he performs for me with his guitar and voice ^///^)
