i was about to hit post when i realised you also asked why. ive already made multiple posts analysing the tsh charas or their relationships which i feel gets into the meat of it anyway so please peruse those tags for longer explanations but as a quick breakdown of my takes:

judy: i just find her so funny and refreshing throughout the whole book; she serves a great meta purpose in breaking the illusion of richard’s trustworthiness as a narrator; she’s actually one of the nicer people we meet relative to all the other assholes in richard’s life; her scenes speak to both her commonalities and differences with richard and i enjoy them a lot. also i love that she’s based on a real person who then did costuming for succession.

francis: do i even need to explain this… hes an icon. i love all the layers to francis (which we only even get to see bc him & richard are so #real worsties)- how he’s so dramatic and emotive but can compose himself at will, how hes both confrontational and cowardly, his random kindnesses and mean quips, his completely fucked sense of priorities at all times…. also his insane childhood & his self-made tragedy in the epilogues. enfant terrible!

i do also love richard for all that he’s a nightmare. hes suuuuuch a mess wrapped within an I Am Normal package #tarttcore. love the way he teeters between reckless self-destruction and “umm you guys are weird” judgment. his self-censorship and revisionist tendencies as a narrator. his outsider role and his actual desperate liking of his murderous rich friends who do not particularly care about him. hes literally 19…. he should have been in the club….

henry & camilla are both interesting but henry is like The Statue and camilla is The Shadow in the sense that theyre both not fully realised ppl bc of richard’s pov/pedestal. henry is kind of the mvp of tsh of course, greattttt lines, compelling character, drives the action, but ultimately hard to crack as a complete person and full of hubris that annoys me. i respect that he gave us hot takes and drama the whole way through. camilla i enjoy the pieces of- beef with judy, french post murder fever, mysterious phone calls, entanglements- but lbr she is the least characterised individual in the book and thus hard to connect to outside of fanon. i still like her tho i esp enjoy how unbothered she is living her own side stories. and i just know she suffered incalculable martyrdom running amongst those men.

charles is more of a real person to richard than the above and he compels me also. such a jarring (if telegraphed) shift from part i to part ii. in a way his descent into darkness humanises him the most bc at least hes torn up about the whole murder business in the first place! but by god his relationships are fucked.

bunny is at best funny. but hes just like. a conservative asshole whos not even smart enough for the course he nepo-babied his way into. and then julian has fun literature class bits and is admittedly also funny (he is so not willing to get dragged into the drama it’s comical) but is just a nefarious elitist weirdo. they get nothing from me.

What is the difference between leoichi and leosagi? So many people are being annoying about tagging them when they’re the same!! I don’t get it!

I contemplated not answering this when I got it the other day, but I’m bored and I’m thinking so I’m gonna pretend it was sent in good faith and not for drama’s sake. Here we go!

I don’t know why I got this ask when I am just now beginning to rummage into TMNT and Usagi Yojimbo myself, but I’ll do my best to clarify things because quite a few people are understandably upset about the cross contamination of said tags and I was also a lil confused about it.

Leoichi is the ship name for Leo (mostly Rise!Leo) and Yuichi Usagi (first name/last name).

Leosagi is for Leo (mostly 03!Leo) and Miyamoto Usagi (last name/first name).

Technically, kind of, they are both “leosagi”. HOWEVER, the spirit of ship names usually uses first or given names of characters and rarely surnames, and Leonardo/Usagi has been an active crossover relationship for literal decades (every iteration of Leonardo (except for Rise) has had one or multiple canon interactions with Miyamoto Usagi), whereas Leo/Yuichi only recently spawned from the airing of Netflix’s Samurai Rabbit.

So the difference is…. Pretty obvious, actually.

People (OG Leosagi shippers or ppl who just love their dynamic) are “being annoying about it” because Yuichi fans sprung up like an ant colony in the yard and are coming into THEIR house and shoving some guy they don’t know or care about in their faces, claiming it’s a “crack ship” with only fan-made substance instead of a well-established, canon relationship. They feel like they’re being routed out of their homes by a bunch of rowdy teens and when you’re a cranky old fandom dweller like me, I know that shit can get real annoying real fast.

When you make content for Yuichi and toss him in the leosagi tag, you are wrong. Full stop! You are wrong and you are using the tagging system wrong and maybe it came from a place of genuine ignorance and that’s ok because we are all learning new things every day, but there is no reason to double down or throw a tantrum when someone brings it to your attention and asks you to knock it off. It isn’t ‘stupid’. Berating people who ask you to kindly tag ‘silly fictional characters’ and other things properly is stupid.

Tags are there for your BENEFIT.

The system literally breaks down if you don’t tag things properly. It’s the crux of tailoring your online experience. It’s literally how you avoid seeing things you DON’T want to see; and how you actively find things you DO want to see. It’s, frankly, what makes tumblr and AO3 the most user-friendly platforms on the internet right now.

Using “leosagi” as a blanket tag for both ships on your own blog is usually fine (I do this to some degree but now I’m considering going back and retagging things bc my own tastes on the matter have changed) but for Original Posts, please remember that only the First Five Tags on tumblr will go live in searches across the platform and tag them separately just to be fucking polite.

“There’s other shows with queer rep not just ST!” yes thank you I am well aware that Mike and Will aren’t the only two gay people in existence. Sure there’s other queer media, but like, most of the good ones are shows that were explicitly confirmed to be abt the queer experience, and I love those, but it’s just different when a show with a plot unrelated to being gay *has* multiple main characters as queer. It’s not a side pairing that’s there just for the sake of being lgbtq, it’s a genuine well developed romance between two childhood best friends. How often do queer people get romances like that onscreen? Much less in a major hit TV show??

And before anyone thinks I’m just “not taking wlw ships seriously”: I am literally a lesbian and I nearly cried when I saw Robin and Vickie getting to be gay onscreen. I could go on and on abt how annoying it is that wlw ships are ignored in favor of mlm ships (cough cough steddie) but that’s not why *byler* is a bigger deal, why do you think byler is getting more backlash by cishets than literally any other queer ship that I’ve seen in media?

(This is not hate but i want to say sorry in advance if i’m being rude or anything) maybe it’s because I’m a cishet woman so I have no experience of the discrimination the people in the lgbt community suffer. but I wanted to say: if some people in fandom love to ship aro and/or ace characters with other characters or change a character's sexuality in general just for their ship, this does not take away the fact that that character is of that particular sexuality in canon, it doesn’t take away the representation. So I don't see where the problem is if the person in question is respectful of real people sexuality. For example I know that Shiro from Voltron is canonically gay, but at the same time I like to ship him with myself and I see a lot of people in the fandom who keep self-shipping with him or even ship him with Allura. and I don’t see a problem because he is just a fictional character and he still gay in the canon universe. Same goes for aro/ace characters like Alastor. And i think that most people will keep shipping this characters in romantic relationship regardless of their canon sexuality because it’s just fiction and ships make them happy. Again, sorry if I sounded rude, I hope you won't take this aks as hate or anything!

so i kno u said this isn't supposed to b rude, but I feel like u didn't read my post and came here to complain that I said “don't ship aro characters” (which i really didn't even say, the main point is to just listen to us and be a better ally) which is kinda rude. I literally talk about how aro character's identities are like barely ever respected. I talk about how people put shipping before us constantly. I talk about how many creative spaces, not just fandom, are hostile towards us. I've literally had people insult my work to my face multiple times because I'm an aro storyteller who won't focus on shipping in my own content. I've had multiple people in the notes of that exact post express surprise that the characters I listed were actually aro. 

i want you to imagine for a second, and since u brought up Voltron ig ill use that, what is shiro was one of like 5 popular gay characters in fiction, but every fan work of him presented him as straight, to the point people did not know and were surprised he was gay. Like do you think that's okay? because that is like classic erasure. why is it suddenly okay to do to aro people? bc we don't matter?

a small group of fans making a gay character straight is like not something ppl generally worry about because its not enough to even effect anything. like sure some people will take offense, but at the end of the day they can just ignore a small group of fans. but that's not what I'm talking about here. most fans are erasing aro characters identities, which leads to either people not knowing that character is even aro, or (worse in my opinion) thinking that erasing an aro characters identity is just How You Write Aro Characters. “aros are just like every other alloro person, except I have to throw in a few words like qpr once and then never actually research what that means!”

like I don't participate in fandom stuff for a lot of reasons but one of them is that those spaces are hostile or completely unaccommodating to me. and one of the major ways they're like that is centering romance and shipping above all. even when a character is like me and is not interested in that stuff. “nope they actually are bc if they weren't itd be boring!” I've literally seen ppl make aus where an aro character isn't aro and the tag for that is “X character has a heart” that's uhhh fucked up? i can call myself heartless all I want but random alloros have LITERALLY NO RIGHT TO DO THAT WHAT THE FUCK. you realize that in popular fandoms there are usually more fanworks than there is actual canon material right? so if something has a scene or two (or outside tweets from creators) talking about a character being aro, but 99% of fanworks portray that character as alloro, then they are written predominantly as alloro, and people will interpret them as such. why the fuck do i have to have the few scraps of canon content to see myself in while everyone else gets to rip that to shreds and interpret the character as not like me.

also at this point I literally do not give a fuck if erasing aro characters identities is someone's prime mode of happiness, it's a shitty thing to do and it shows that they do not care about us.

This is gonna be long, so sorry in advance, but as someone who enjoys long fics here are my two cents:

I get why some ppl may not want 75 tags in fics, but this is gonna hurt long fic writers. On a long fic there are probably gonna be more relationships that are central to the plot that aren't the main ship. And side pairings that may be a squick to some ppl. Not to mention trigger warnings and tone tags.

For example: a long fic with the pairing Y x Z. Z had an abusive relationship, and that's gonna be explored. So the author tags abusive relationship, bc that's a trigger, but an explanation next tag saying "not current ship" or smth.

Then Y has very important friendships with some of the cast. These are central to the plot so they're tagged too.

Turns out, character W is controversial in the fandom, but they're central to the fic too. The author is gonna tag after the character tag W positive/negative; so ppl who don't wanna see positive/negative things about W can skip this.

And guess what? Ship A x B appears in this fic too. Maybe it's not that central, but this ship is also disliked by some people, so the author will tag it, so ppl can filter through.

Another problem is with media that has different mediums, like, the media Y, Z, etc are from has movies, and books, and games and a tv show. All these things actually have different stories, different enough at least that ppl may only want to see fics written for the movies! But the author wants to take plot from the movies and the books. So instead of just tagging the all media tag for that media, they also tag media (movies) and media (books)

These tags end up accumulating. And especially in long fics. The author could make the first chapter a list of tws and stuff that they keep updating, but that destroys the purpose of ao3 tags: you can't filter content like that, you can only filter tags.

I honestly think they should just find a way to delete the fics with the trolling tags, or make a readmore thing so it doesn't hurt the browsing. At the very least make the tag limit longer.

sorry in advance that this is going to be rambly and weird. I have a lot of thoughts.

I get where you're coming from but I also still disagree. Like it's definitely going to change the way longfic writers tag, but I really don't think it's going to hurt them. I think it's going to encourage more effective tagging and that that's going to be better for everybody in the long run. If anything, I think that overtagging is what's hurting longfic writers, it makes their works look unappealing, and actually important information gets buried in a wall of text.

i will admit though that I do understand better now why less room for trigger tagging is going to be an issue. My preferred tagging style is "General/umbrella warnings in the tags, with whatever elaboration/specifics the author deems necessary in an author's note/author's notes at the beginning of each chapter" (example: "animal death" in the tags, so that the filters catch it + people who can't handle the subject At All know to keep scrolling, and then the author's note specifying that its in the context of game hunting & not a pet death, so that people who were uncertain and needed more info could click in and get the specifics.) and I thought that preference was pretty universal? But apparently a lot of people use the tags as an exhaustive list of warnings, which I didn't know because when I see a work with more than, well with more than 75 tags, I just start scrolling until it's gone.

(this is a tangent and I get that my experiences are not universal. but I genuinely dislike full warning lists in the tags because, for me at least, it makes it harder for me to figure out if the story is something I can/want to read. The things I Really Do Not Want To Read about are rare, and rarely tagged the same way twice, so the exclusion filter isn't really helpful for me. I have to actually read the full list of warnings and if the things I'm looking for are sandwiched inbetween a bunch of trope/character tags in a big wall o text I am going to miss it. This has happened to me multiple times.)

I think that that's an ineffective tagging style, basically. Lots of tags is kind of the opposite of useful tags, imo. Short, to the point and consistently worded warnings are better and I think having less space will encourage people to do that. I understand why people do this other style, though, and also why it would frustrate them that they can no longer do that. I think it really sucks that ao3 let everyone wild west their website for so long that it managed to spawn like three distinct groups of people who all use the website in completely incompatible ways, and now it's at the point where any new rule implemented is going to screw a lot of people over no matter what. But I digress.

Anyways, as long as someone isn't putting Revolutionary Girl Utena levels of warnings in their tags (and if your fic needs that much... maybe you should just put yur top 10 biggest warnings on there and slap a Dead Dove Do Not Eat on the end there, yknow?), I think that 75 tags will fully accommodate them. I get that tags start adding up, but also I think a lot of people are underestimating how many tags 75 tags is.

Like to just add up how many tags are used in your example: three / pairing tags, lets go crazy and say three more & pairing tags, tag every character tag in those pairings that's twelve, #abusive relationship + #not main pairing tags, three fandom tags bc multiple source mediums, a #[controversial character] positive tag... that's 24 tags. Like all the necessary character & pairing tags are handled in less than a third of the space given (and personally I consider this slightly over tagged. I think the only character tags you should put on a fic are the very mainest/pov characters, but yknow) and honestly if you can't then figure out a way to communicate the rest of the necessary information about your fic in 51 tags and a 1250 character summary then I really don't know how to help you. I personally would have to really push myself to figure out how to put more than 75 tags on one fic, regardless of the length of the fic. And I can't help but notice that a lot of the fics I could find with over 75 tags while searching last night had a lot of... unnecessary duplicate tags, often for information that could've been easily otherwise intuited (tagging #mandolorian #mandolore #mandolorian character and #mandolorian culture on a Jango Fett pre-series fic, for example)

I do have some criticisms about the current change though. I think it would've been better to have individual tag number limits for each individual field (x number of fandom tags, x number of character tags, etc.) instead of a 75 tags over all limit (or make a "warning tags" field that's separate from "additional tags" but that's a separate essay and would... probably mean overhauling the whole site. so not very practical.) A readmore option would be good too, and I'm not sure why they didn't go for that? I also think that this change will be most effective if done in combination with other changes. Like posting very loosely or not at all enforced official tagging/style guides for the site. I really think that even a tepid attempt at standardization will increase the site's usability like, A Lot.

I'm not sure how cohesive that was. TL;DR I appreciate hearing your thoughts, mine are that I still think this is a step in the right direction. And that cutting back on overtagging will lead to more concise, effective tagging which will make browsing and filtering easier in the long run.

1) Self-shipping content -

I'm hoping some of you do already do this, but please, if any of my f/o posting makes anyone uncomfortable for any reasons - for instance: Because you have the same romantic f/o as me, you don't understand it, you simply just don't vibe with it, etc - please block my self-shipping tags

My fairly obvious ones are #boy in blue and #he's self-shipping again get the hose but if there's any others that you want me share, I don't mind doing so.

I will not feel bad if you want/need to. I'd rather you block it if it makes you uncomfy, bc despite this being my blog and I am in every right to carry on posting it as long as it strays away from being problematic, I don't want anyone to feel obligated to have to look at it too (that's why there are tags there in the first place)

It probably isn't necessary saying this bc a lot of you are very capable of blocking a tag if needs be, but I've seen a couple of ppl who also self-ship with Leo interact with my self-indulgent posts despite them being very clear they don't like "sharing" (I'm not judging, I'm very much like that too) and my hyper-anxious brain here just wants to guarantee that they're not making themselves uncomfortable just to view it.

Or just anyone. I don't wanna make anyone uncomfortable, that's mainly the point I'm getting at here. Basically, just block the tag if you want to.

2) REQUESTS -

If it says in my Title !Requests : Closed! then they are closed.

If it says !Requests : Open! then they are open.

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

I've had to delete so many requests (not just recently, in the far past too) bc people keep sending them in when I've clearly stated that I'm not taking them. It says it in my Title, my pinned post and usually I'll make a post announcing so. I shouldn't have to be saying this now bc it already tells you this very clearly in my RULES FOR REQUESTS in the pinned post but I've noticed a lot of people have been dismissing it thinking I wouldn't notice. (Yeah you ain't slick guys, I can tell, I'm not that fckin dumb)

Second, genuine question (and out of curiosity): Why do you self reblog your posts often? People can see your posts on their dash, and even on the search thingy. The search thingy doesn't let people see your self-reblogs (just the original post). I also was on and off tumblr for a long time and often, but I can answer it based on my own experience on this becasue it was confusing to me too when I first met with self reblogging.

first of all self promotion isn't a bad thing and i'm staring to think some of people here see it as a crime

compared to old one nowday t/mblr is a mess, lot of people left this site and most of them were content creators (either artists or gifmakers) and back then it seemd more welcoming to editors? People would rb your stuff no matter your popularity becasue hey it is content from my fav series i wanna see more i wanna keep it on my blog and show it to others so there was no need for people to self reblog becasue it circulated around a lot on its own.

new people who join this app are raised on i/stagram t/itter and/or f/book where LIKES means everything, you show your support by liking posts THIS NOT APPLY TO TUMBLR AND NEVER DID [you can check this amazing post about rebloging]. As nice as it is to get likes on your post becasue it is like a pat on a head - it is only a pat, doesn't mean anything on a long run. Reblog = spreading. If people don't spread it we stay unnoticed and we tend to self reblog more.

another thing that changed is: people no longer scroll from top to the last post they saw before going to sleep, cos why would they? You wake up in the morning open app while eating breakfast or drinking coffee and you sroll past ten or twenty post or an equivalent of hour or two of your absence - you dont go deeper cos it would be a waste of time - again, I say USUALLY, some ppl still do this and it is ok either way - which leads us to main point of self/reblog:

DIFFERENCE in TIME ZONE not all of our followers live in the same time-zone, when I post something in my free time it doesn't mean others have it too, most of them are probably sleeping or in working place at that hour. We self reblog so people who were absent (and we think might be interested in - becasue why not? they follow us for a reason right?) can see it when they get back on here. By reblogging ourself multiple times, that puts the post back on the follower’s dash and hopefully gives them a chance to see it.

most of people follow ton of blogs (one of my friend I met here told me they follow over 1k blogs) imagine even half of these blogs posting regulary, a few things per hour, the dash is messy and crowded OUR EDITS TEND TO GET LOST IN IT. Most of people follow a lot of blogs and might miss our posts becaue their dashes are WAY more active than these who follow five or ten blogs.

t/mblr fandoms aren't welcoming to new creators in my experience, to get notes you need to be popular/have lot of followers but you can't have lot of them if your posts aren't spread/seen and so on and so on it go in circle (a lot of ppl also only reblog popular posts and avoid these with litte of notes - don't know why it is like this, maybe they think these posts are suspicious?) so with self reblog we also give some of these fake notes to make a post more appealing, i guess? this one is just speculation.

the search function you mentioned is very rarely used tbh people don't go to search for things daily, they usually only do this when they join new series/ship/etc to check if there is something. People usually stick to what they see on their dashes. AND most importantly this option doesn't work as it should. It is some type of algoritm that promote post that are alive/active - even if your post is relativy new it might not show in search becasue it died quickly (as if it wasn't interacted with for some time). With search option it is 50/50 your thing either show there or not. ALSO REMEMBER search option is a terrible promoted thingy that doesn't show you everything so you better stick to /tagged/ thing you can enter manually while on dash if you are using web t/mblr.

people no longer go straight to specific blogs to check if they missed something, they might do it for their besties (as they call it) but other than that DASH is all people see and focus on, so the more often content creators self/reblog the higher chance followrs will see it.

we are not paid for what we do and it come to everything: edits, gifs, arts, writing, video and META POST we are not paid for it and no matter how many people say notes are just numbers these numbers are our motivational payment, the less you get the less you create because you just don't feel the point of sharing your creations if it is not received well or at all.

when I started posting I used to post new content daily even twice a day, nowdays seeing most of my edits not being well recieved in fandom I lost motivation to the point I was thinking of quiting because it didn’t give me joy anymore and I'm still considering it.

I personally never felt bothered seeing self rebbloged post, I follow a bunch of content creators, some of them sr twice a day some each hour, some more or less often. It often helped me to see something I would missed becasue I wasn't here and personally it often give me joy to see the post I remember seeing that had 2 notes when I rb it and now it is 500 or more.

to anyone who read it and still think self reblog is a bother: do not tell people to stop self reblogging. If you genuinely have a problem with self reblogging, just unfollow or block the person who does it and don’t make a fuss over it!

I want to talk bluntly here.

I know I probably come off like a jackass nowadays, and I don’t want to, but at the end of the day there’s a group of ppl who are going to continue spreading lies about people based on what they ship, how they read characters, or literally anything that they disagree on, and they don’t listen when you try and explain anything.

so I’m kinda tired and grumpy and I genuinely try not to address it because I know no one who i want to get through to will listen, but also I feel like if I don’t just make a big old post whining about it there will probably be more of those small, whinier posts that I delete after an hour or so. But anyway. People are going to call me and my friemds horrible things, and they’re not going to listen if we try and defend ourselves. Which. Old news. Already found that out last July-August.

Guess what? I was here last year. I missed most of the first drama of the year, that being Kittencourse 1.0, but I was dragged along for the ride every other time. And it was anti-shippers starting those dramas, every time. I probably wouldn’t have lebelled myself as anything if not for the fact that for half a year bullies were throwing around their weight and justifying it by being antis, even when their opponents were doing nothing wrong.

I was here when someone was harassed for months over a fanfiction. this person wasn’t some huge presence in the fandom; the fanfic wasn’t some bastion of the fandom. I don’t think most of us knew either person or fic until antis decided it would be fun to fuck with the account for months on end.

I began identifying as pro ship because at least the pro shippers didn’t seem to be going out of their way to be nasty.

You know the funny thing? For a long while the most problematic thing I shipped was Tugger  shanks. Even now, the most problematic thing I ship is Munku  pounce, which I will not hesitate to tell you is a comfort ship, as pounce is one of my comfort characters. Any other ship is between kittens and those in the nebulous young adult range, which doesn’t seem to match the Anti Council’s definition of problematic, given many of them had no issue following a blog openly labelling itself as pro ship when the spiciest ship was Pounce/Plato.

And that’s the other thing. I’ve been very open on this blog about being pro ship.

Every time I got a wave of followers who seemed v likely to be anti-shippers, I reblogged posts explaining my stance and hopefully making it clear that I was pro ship. Regardless, I ended up having these followers for months; I didn’t block them bc many of them didn’t make it clear either way what they felt, so I dared to assume they were alright following a pro shipper. Then of course a few months later: a pro ship DNI, maybe some soapboxing, and more than once this has been while they are still following me.

And the fact is, it doesn’t matter what I try to explain.

It doesn’t matter how many posts I reblog trying to explain what it means when I use the term pro ship.

It doesn’t matter if I say that incest ships aren’t really it for me.

It doesn’t matter if I say the kittens are not young children to me.

It wouldn’t matter if I compiled every instance of kitten characters being provocative or taking part in sexually charged numbers.

It doesn’t matter that what we’re talking about here are fictional anthro cats played by adults.

It doesn’t matter because antis have already made up their mind and don’t want to hear otherwise.

It wouldn’t help if I changed labels because the label isn’t the issue, it’s the opposition to antis and their mentality. If I changed labels, they’d simply transfer the baggage they’ve given pro ship onto whatever I had chosen instead.

And I don’t think there’s going to be a middle ground reached because both sides are coming at media differently.

Yes, Pro shippers are alright with people having ships between characters who are related, ships with large age gaps, and, yes, even ships between adult characters and child characters. Because this is fiction we’re talking about. No one real is being harmed by this ship existing. The threat of grooming with these ships exists for all ships, all fandoms, all pieces of media, and all things that can be used to gain a victim’s trust.

Also, you don’t know why anyone ships what they do. You don’t know why anyone has the headcanons they do. I think it’s well-documented by now that there are survivors on all sides of this discourse, so that much should be clear. Telling those who do use these more controversial ships or headcanons to cope that they ought to be doing it in private is not only callous but disingenuine, as antis have, multiple times, gone into private spaces and leaked all content thereof so they could call out those within the group.

As it applies to this fandom, I don’t believe I’ve seen any potentially triggering ship in the main tags. Most of us who do ship controversial ships are aware people don’t like them. We provide tags to block, and of course users can be blocked as well.

Speaking of which.

I know who blocks me back. It shows a specific icon when a block is mutual. I assure you very few antis block me, even when they say they do.

Listen.

The truth is, at the end of the day, this is a blog for a musical about cats. I’ve shifted away from interacting with most users, partly so i don’t end up with more followers who end up antis, and partly so other, neutral users don’t end up catching flack for interacting with me.

And yeah, it is true that the current fandom climate is hilariously hostile to several ships that were popular for decades beforehand. It is true that antis have double standards. That their hypocrisy is easy to point out. That’s true of antis and fandoms in general.

But also. No one outside this fandom gives a shit what any of us are shipping, really. We’re all weirdos to them. The block button is right there; the filtering option is right there, Xkit and its blacklisting tool are right there. Yet there are still these dumb as shit outbursts and fearmongering and soapboxing.

And I’m Tired.

I’m tired moreso by general antidom.

There are multiple compilations of anti shippers being horrible people over ships and fiction, and sometimes even just because they think someone is a pro shipper, even if they aren’t. I’ve had many urges to link them, to share them, but often I think about the trigger warnings it would require and I lose steam; I don’t want to share that stuff with my followers.

uhhh well first of all I think childe x zhongli is like the most pathetic and boring "default" pairing this fandom came up with. they have 0 chemistry and I just hate everything about it. as much as I headcanon both as queers... together romantically it feels like 2 straight men put together by ya*i fans............ also before i blacklisted to ship and voluntarily looked through the ship tag... every post felt like a hard ooc. i could not understand what childe or zhongli are supposed to be as individuals, what they have in common, what kind of dynamic they have. deadass most crack ships with 0 interactions have more flavor than this tragedy

eng VAs are great people and appreciate their work but whoever decides the voices ain't doing it right. every male character sounds like a middle-aged white man.. and most of the youngest characters sound like very obvious adults trying to pretend to be babies. all of it irks me so bad god.. and there are so many characters that lose their little spark in eng........ (yet in korean and chinese they're completely fine??)

I'm so f***ing mad right now.

I just found a post that is anti hidekane shippers that is not tagged "anti hidekane" (and they didn't use "ableist language tw" when they called us "crazy" and "loons" either), showing a complete disregard for other fans of TG.

They made a list with 9 points. I would like to refute each of these points but I personally do not have the emotional energy to write the essays. Do you know any essays/meta about (A) Kaneki's feelings textually explicit for Touka, (B) the Kaneki and Touka sex scene, (C) Ishida's homophobia and (D) Kaneki's sexual orientation / queerness?

It wouldn't bother me if it was just the one poster going on a rant but multiple people voiced their agreement and it is very upsetting, particularly as a queer person.

The language they used in that post was just…kinda ew. Maybe they don’t know it was ableist but even so, I don’t think you should go around insulting a group of people, especially when ur claiming that ur not talking abt that entire group, yet u use very generalised language.

I see this a lot with some people in the TG fandom who just kinda make these points and going off on the people on the other side, and it’s just like, that never makes a good argument anyway.

If it’s a rant then it’s more acceptable, but u can’t expect ppl to listen to u if u just call them names, especially names with ableist connotations.

They also didn’t back up their claims at all, so again; how is someone who disagrees meant to argue completely?

And they said that ‘we look too deep into things’, as if Ishida literally didn’t fill every manga panel with subliminal messaging?

They also say, ‘y’all assume Kaneki is bi’, and like…ok but ur assuming Kaneki is straight.

I don’t rly get involved in any kind of shipping at all, so I can’t offer any recommendations for essays or anything. Most of the essays I looked at for researching an upcoming essay were very pro-touken and again, had arguments that could be fairly easily refuted.

I feel as though lots of Ishida’s homophobia can be felt through the text. Just looking at Nico’s character is enough. I do have two posts on Shuu specifically and his treatment by fans and Ishida. They were pretty messy essays, and I plan to write better variations of them. I can’t link them rn bc I’m on mobile. To my knowledge, other posts like that aren’t rly around, and the general response I got from other Shuu fans backed that up.

I’ll have a look around for anything, as I think I saw a few people reblogging essays like that a few months back. If I find any I’ll come back and link them.

I don’t understand why people can’t respect other people’s ships, especially one that isn’t problematic? Most HideKane shippers aren’t going on huge anti-touka campaigns, but a lot of people criticise Touken for pretty valid reasons, myself included.

Yeah, that post and the replies were messy, to say the least.

I hate my writing. With a passion. I suck at grammar and spelling.

I constantly am asking for request, to see me get nothing and watching other who have stated their requests are closed still receiving stuff while we chat.

I hate working on something, pouring my heart and soul into it to get 3 likes, a comment and a reblog. Meanwhile I see someone that threw something together in 2 hours that claim it’s crap and get 45 likes and 72 reblogs.

I hate feeling this way but it’s been drilled in me I will never be good enough. As a person, as a writer, as a living being.

And it sucks because I throw myself into mood and start thinking No one would notice or care if I just disappear. Not like I produce any content either. I just, idk. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make this sad bitch hour but these feelings have been all I’ve been feeling all day.

Like I just should give up, leave it to others because clearly everyone else is doing better and I’m just here, wishing to get big....

First and foremost, especially on this site, things are a goddamn MESS. And it REALLY depends on the fandom/pairing you’re writing for, and if your stuff is showing up in the tags. (Related to “throwing something together in 2 hours and claiming its garbage. I’ve done this, cause its pop and it took me an hour to do and personally, I hate it, cause there’s no background, there’s no emotion, but it’s pWP with rafael barba and people are ALL for it, meanwhile the super emotional piece I spent HOURS doing gets nothing cause its not a popular character)

Secondly, you do have to wait a bit before you stuff starts getting picked up and reblogged/shared/etc.

Also, requests are a hard thing to dabble into. When i first started writing, I found multiple prompt lists, wrote down like, 100 of them that I liked, and as I went through them, I would note who/the situation I thought would work best with them and just wrote....slowly I had one person come to me with some asks/prompts for series, and then I started coming up with ideas on my own. All of us started out small and grew to where we are now. As for the getting requests when ppl are closed, sometimes the requester doesn’t see the home page, or doesn’t care, or they don’t think they’re closed cause the ask box is still open. Also it’s important to share a prompt list when you’re asking for requests, and make sure you have info in your bio/pinned post about what fandoms/ships/characters/reader inserts or not that you write for. There have been plenty of times I’ve clicked on someone’s “send req’s” posts only to find NO info on any of that and I lose interest because why bother sending them something they won’t write?/will roll their eyes at?

I get the wanting to get the gratification from likes/reblogs, and sometimes, it hits, and sometimes it just doesn’t. You just have to keep going, add to your work list, add to your fandoms that you want to write for. It may take a long time for that kinda stuff to start increasing followers/reblogs to your blog. It’s also totally okay to reblog your own work! I do it at least once as a time zone reblog, and usually randomly again down the road when I’m re-reading something.

You ARE good enough, trust me, in every sense of the term. Just keep writing, there are plenty of people out there who struggle with the written word, or who English isn’t their first language, and believe me, it’s my only language and I struggle with it ALL the time. It’s a bullshit language. Use resources when you need/want to, otherwise, fuck it, post it. If people don’t want to read it, fuck them. You’re putting time and effort into a creative outlet, and that’s important.

Also...let the thought of “getting big” completely leave your head. Maybe its the old ass in me, maybe it’s the fact that I was at the PEAK of the rise of instagram, I literally watched it rise and watched myself go through various phases of instagram fame. There’s nothing cool about it, same with any kind of social media fame, especially tumblr. Other sites you can earn money off, you cant do that here, there is NOTHING wrong with being a small blog, and you’re not going to gain anything by being “big”. I’d always much rather have a small following and have more interacations with said followers than anything else.

Just keep going. It’s worth it, trust me. 💜
