Links to my crochet patterns! I'll update this list when I make new ones, so if you're seeing this as a reblog it might be worth clicking through to the original post to see if any have been added - round bee pattern - spider buddy - little axolotl (for sale on Ravelry or free on tumblr) - fluffy mini bunnies - little t-rex - little llama - lemon earrings (free on Ravelry and tumblr) - moth (but no wing pattern, so it's more of a creature base??) - Marie Kondo (aka a doll pattern base) - a tooth - squirrel - tiny scythe - tiny punk - spinnable dreidel - mini blorbo - peas in a pod - happy pill - void cat - mothman and the skeleton - Pride Moth (different full moth pattern, including wings) - mini cauldron (with or without potion inside) The rest of these patterns are for sale for $2 in my Ravelry store: - mini manatee - fluffy baby seal - little crow, phoenix, and peacock - mini cthulhu - Velociraptors (based on Jurassic Park not on real science) - basket the fish (idk why I put this one behind a paywall, someone remind me and I'll make it free when I have more time) I wrote these over many years and at many different points in my pattern making journey, so if you are trying to make one and it doesn't make sense, please let me know. I've learned a lot about making patterns since I wrote some of these and I don't always remember to go back and update them (the ones that are for sale should be fine it's some of the earlier free ones I'm not sure about lol)
#crochet#amigurumi#free crochet patterns#handmade#long post#I know it's kinda odd that Marie Kondo is the version of that pattern I've shared#but I used the same base pattern for Mulan and Alanna and I think Winnifred Sanderson#I do not remember my reasoning for sharing the Marie Kondo version instead of the other versions#I'm also not sure why I have basket the fish in the two dollar category instead of the free category#like the free patterns are generally my simpler ones#and the ones for sale are generally the ones I had to actually revise the pattern for#instead of making one version and it being right the first time#but Basket the Fish is pretty simple#and literally based on a dream I had#that's why he's named Basket. Because he was named that in the dream#but no one else is going to be like yeah Basket the Fish that's the pattern I want to make lol

y'all got me all hyped to do more merfolk AU art so I finished the Love's Lights scene
#I GIVE YOU: MORE FUN MERFOLK AU FACTS THAT NOBODY ASKED FOR!!!#Ezra grew up on his own without the benefit of other merfolk to learn from and he's kinda out of touch with his merfolk instincts#so ezra THINKS he's bringing sabine to a pretty underwater light show that he thinks she'll think is cool#and telling himself ''i'm getting a good grade in platonic friendship; something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve!''#...except his mer-instinct is actually prompting him to bring The Love Of His Life to the site of the Annual Merfolk Love Festival#and merfolk bioluminescent patterns reflect their mood and communicate with other merfolk#BUT Ezra can't really control his markings#so he's putting on an involuntary light show that translates to#''SABINE!! HI!! LOOK AT ME!! I'M GLOWING REALLY BRIGHT!! IS THAT IMPRESSIVE OR WHAT?? P.S. I'VE FALLEN IRREVOCABLY IN LOVE WITH YOU''#also the pattern of Ezra's markings is inspired by Sabine's starbird!#mythical creatures au#jessica's art#sabezra#sabezra fanart#not 100% loving sabine's outfit in this tbh#I tried to do something simple that went with what the fic described her wearing but it turned out kinda boring...#and ezra's tail turned out weird too... sighhhh...#oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#OOH WAIT I THOUGHT OF ANOTHER FUN FACT#the shell necklace Sabine is wearing is one that Ezra gave to her when he was 15#and for adult merfolk the gift of a handmade shell necklace is basically a marriage proposal#but he was a kid then so it's more equivalent to the time my best friend proposed to her crush with a ring pop

MOM AND BABY CAT!!!! y’all i came up with this pattern myself and i’m very proud of it ❤️
#there are some things i could improve on like baby cats nose is kinda big and somehow mom cat is inside out from the legs up?#but considering i didn’t know how to sew 4 legs together and crochet up i feel like it’s pretty good#i’m so proud of it like a lot of my other original patterns are pretty simple but this one was kinda complicated!!#crochet#amigurumi#my design

revamp ideas of another old oc, this is xeneal, he lives in shawns universe. he used to be named shay and was a space bounty hunter, the first thing obviously got changed for his redesign but as for the second thing im kinda entertained by the concept so it might stay. it was not a huge part of his character tho i literally only remembered accidentally finding a note abt him in an old character document from 10 years ago lol
his species r typically pretty stocky & bulky. they weigh a lot so their long fur is very plush and light. i had harbor seals in mind when i was doing his palette and body markings so i leaned into it more for the face idea for the 2nd pic. still gonna be playing around with it
#his fur used to be entirely white w blue pops of color like his collar and claws so i kept that like general spirit#w a pretty simple more grayscale marking pattern but i could not have a pure white oc it would kill me. too boring#my art#ocs#furry#anthro#alien#monster#barely. he looks like some guy but he was always an alien/monster oc so i figured id just keep that#even if hes not like . that different looking from anyone else

Day 14 of @quezify's Eggtober! Egg bracelet for today; pattern below the cut:
#my art#eggtober2023#eggtober#fiber art#watched the first Friday the 13th and Halloween movies yesterday#and seeing camp crystal lake in F13 made me want to make one of these bracelets#I considered trying to do a more complex pattern to make them look more like eggs but ended up just doing a variant on a diamond chevron on#tho it is pretty simple to follow if anyone else wants to make an egglet <3

anyone know if bookbinding glue works on canvas? im thinking i want to add a shield to my halloween costume next year and am trying to figure out how to attach the front
#not silm#not art#halloween#first attempt w cardboard hot glue and canvas worked fairly well but the back is kind of lumpy from the glue and the corners arent great#so im thinking of doing painted canvas on book board with binding glue to adhere it#so itll be nice and sturdy#not sure how i would attach the straps though#unfortunately im too busy to do much in the way of costume upgrades rn but for next year i have a few things in mind#i definitely want to do a cloak- i saw this nice quilted fabric at joanns that could work as an insulating/lining layer to give it weight#i really want to do fake fur trim for the Fancy Himring Cloak but ill have to find something im not allergic to#idk how to do cloak clasps but the actual sewing part should be reasonably simple since its mostly one piece#just have to attach the outer layer and the lining layer and hem the thing#for the helmet im trying to find larger brads that might work to add a rotating visor#idk how to get it to stay shut though. will probably have to adjust the angle so it doesnt keep getting stuck on my nose#and so i can actually wear glasses with it and not fall down every single set of stairs like last time i wore it#anyone know if there are like. sewing patterns but for 14th century helmets?#armor wise i might actually go with the slipper top for pauldrons#would probably be decently padded#gambeson means i need to learn how to sew shirts#so maybe thatll be a few years down the line#for the shield i have one custom heraldry and one feanorian heraldry. maybe ill make two shields idk#the cuirass is going to be harder - maybe alternate a few layers of cardboard and quilted fabric? would that get too thick tho#ive tested cardboard + heavy waffle blanket gambeson and that works pretty well so maybe just go with that#maybe a cheap bookboard layer for the top?#idk how well you can paint book board though. will have to run some experiments

2023 birthday outfits!
according to some tweets, in the world these outfits are form, sirius escaped the mansion and noel is trapped inside a mansion himself with no knowledge about the outside world- which is mentioned to be parody, but i thought it was a really interesting idea if taken seriously
(kind of an extension of his existing story as well- he couldn't leave the house as a child except when he would presumably sneak outside to see claire and sirius- and once that was done he was stuck in hell for 12 years, and then got stuck in a timeloop, so his exposure to the outside world is probably extremely minimal)
btw- the flowers are hydrangeas & camellias, and their flower language is pretty cool and incredibly fitting for their respective characters--but i'll let you figure that out yourself.
i know that hydrangeas don't grow like that, but i was lazy that was how it was drawn in sirius's piece, so i just copied that
i fucked around with lighting on this one and it was fun
#witch's heart spoilers#sirius gibson#noel levine#sirinoel#proud of this one actually#id love to make an au out the tidbits provided about these outfits#i thought the patterns would make me die but it was pretty easy#noel and sirius both got pretty simple patterns on their outfits#drawings

Blorbo pattern is below the read more! Based on this post by @thewiglesswonder
Sew the darts on the two Blorbo body pieces
Sew the two Blorbo body pieces to each other, right sides together (sew the curved edge, and leave the straight line at the bottom unsewn)
Sew the Blorbo body base to the bottom of the Blorbo body pieces (pin it well, with the front roughly in line with the dart on the front half of the body; this does not have to be precise, Blorbo can be a little irregularly shaped, it’s fine). Leave an opening for turning of a few inches left unsewn, turn the body right side out
Put two leg pieces right sides together and sew the side seams (leave the top, where it attaches to the body, and the bottom, where it will attach to the foot, unsewn). Repeat with the second leg.
Pin a foot piece to the bottom of a leg, with the front of the foot roughly lined up with the seam at the front of the foot. Sew around (this can be a little tricky, it might be easier to hand sew than to machine sew this part). Repeat with second leg and foot. Turn legs right side out through the opening at the top of the leg
Finishing:
Embroider the face, either before step 2 or after step 3
Stuff the body at any point after step 3, after embroidering the face
Sew the opening for turning in the body closed
Stuff the legs after step 5. Tuck the seam allowance at the top inside the leg; I ended up tucking about ½” of fabric in instead of ¼” to make the leg a bit shorter, but if you are using an extra fluffy fabric you might want it closer to the ¼”
Pin the legs in place on the front of Blorbo and ladder stitch around the base of the leg
You’re done!!! Enjoy your new blorbo, and if you post it on tumblr I’d love to be tagged @tj-crochets (that’s not a requirement for using the pattern, you do not have to do it, I just love seeing things people make from patterns I wrote)
#free sewing pattern#blorbo sewing pattern#build your own blorbo#plushie sewing pattern#this is a pretty simple pattern but I also forget about some plushie instructions sometimes#like that xkcd comic about the chemical composition of feldspar lol#so if you have any questions let me know! I will be happy to clarify#I had to fight my scanner to get this done#because I hadn't set it up since I moved#and after many many tries I ended up pushing a bunch of buttons randomly after I hit scan and it worked!#well. it worked the second time I hit a bunch of random buttons

Started knitting a kufiya pattern piece (solid bars, olive leaves, fishnet) and I’m actually really happy with how it’s coming out so far :]
Very early progress pics below cut - excuse my pyjamas
#ra speaks#personal#needlework#knitting#I tried a few different leaf patterns but ended up frogging them bc they were proportionate to the rest of it#I’m going w a more simple leaf pattern which means it doesn’t show up well until I get a few dozen more rows in#but bc I know they’re there I can see them and it’s like yessss yesssss#I’ve been planning this pattern for weeks bc I couldn’t find a pattern out there#and I hate changing colors and stuff so this is just a mono color textured pattern#which tbh I think will look nicer even if it isn’t a solid piece of fabric (eg. the net is lace instead of a pattern on solid fabric)#if I was gonna start over I’d make the bars a smidge thinner but the netting section is pretty big so maybe it’ll look fine once I’m done
