don’t know about GREAT THINGS but there are some for sure

let’s break it down binch

- first off, IOREK FUCKIN SLAPS. he’s BIG. he’s GNARLY. he’s BIG BEEF MAN with BEAR-MADE ARMOR that has segments that MOVE WITH HIS BODY. it’s PERFECT.

- buuuuuut his voice kinda sucks. too emotional, too high-pitched, too fast, not growly or deep enough at ALL. Ian McKellan was perfect for it but I would’ve taken someone like.......Iofur’s actor. he was stellar. why not him for Iorek??? switch their actors, Iofur is tryin to be a human anyway he can have the weird emotional tones

- similarly, his eyes are very expressive. probably a boon for visual storytelling, but I really think playing up the theme about bears being inhuman is important. Iorek’s eyes are described as beady and black and unfeeling. they’re almost human in this show, as is his voice, and I don’t like it.

- Lee Scoresby...............................................oh man. I have a lot of feelings about him. I’m gonna leave it to the end cause it’s long.

- Trollesund is really awesome - feels very realistic, very grimy, like an oil town would be. the Sysselman as a character is phenomenal. and IOREK STOMPING ON HIM - LEE LIKE “oh hey sysselman what’s up” is GOLD and you can TAKE IT TO THE BANK BOYO

- Lyra and Farder Coram - Farder Coram talking about Serafina - Farder Coram talking about his SSON I LOVE FARDER CORAM he has done a 180 in two episodes and I adore him now. he’s a lot more robust than the original, subtler Coram, but I like him anyway. he’s close enough but has his own thing going on, and it’s a good thing.

- Dr. Lanselius was a boss ass bitch I really liked him

- THEY KEPT THE CLOUD-PINE SCENE YESSSSSS

- but.....there was no pulling scene with Pan and Lyra facing Iorek. that was one of the best exposition and characterization scenes (and foreshadowing) in TGC and I was REALLY hoping for it. instead we’ve just got that half-assed exposition mention about dæmons being far away. fuck the exposition fairy.

- AND they didn’t let Iorek talk about his fucking motivations as a panserbjorn!!! what!!!!! they had Lee do it - WHY??? Iorek starts getting HEATED and DOES IT HIMSELF what the HELL that line about WAR is ICONIC how DARE THEY!!

- the cardinal is really fucking creepy........especially the way he hunches and slinks around...................A+ on that....

- more golden monkey denial, loving it. loving Mrs. Coulter clawing her way to power by any means necessary even though everyone can see she’s burning herself to the ground in the process

- I LOVE that they’re keeping to Iofur and his bears having weird overly-fancy filigree shiny armor. definitely not bear-made and very wrong.

- Fra Pavel has a great casting. and the little interaction with Boreal is very very ominous.

- Lyra. always Lyra. just, amazing. her humor and her spunk is outstanding. demolish Lee Scoresby, demolish Lord Faa, demolish Iorek, demolish Lee Scoresby’s bacon -

- I love this Hester I don’t even care if she’s not my Hester I love her anyway

- on that note, John Faa STILL doesn’t have a dæmon. ANd, I really don’t like his characterization. he’s so fucking stone cold and serious and hard-headed. he isn’t a man of the people like the original John Faa. he doesn’t have an ounce of warmth or passion. I like that he still respects Farder Coram enough to let him veto things but like........where is my father......this guy is a bonehead

- a few more background dæmons and diversity this time around, including Arctic fox Pan - who is ADORABLE and THEMATIC and PERFECT - so that was nice. still not enough but we’re getting there.

- I love love love Kaisa. I love love love his voice and his mannerisms. I hate hate hate that he’s a gyrfalcon now. his voice is not even CLOSE to being sharp enough to be a falcon. he’s a goddamn goose and I will die on this hill I promise you that. fuck your birds of prey spamming.

OKAY TIME TO SHOUT ABOUT LEE SCORESBY:

he’s good. he’s a good character, on his own. I love Lin, of course, I think he loves the role. good comedy with Hester, very passionate duo. funny, likable. a little morally gray. cute.

he’s not the original Lee Scoresby. and I miss that one. this one is a pickpocket, a loudmouth, and cares WAY too passionately about Iorek.

first of all, the original Lee might have been there to help Iorek, might not have. he was around, it was a stop in his search for work. he’s a bit guarded and he wouldn’t divulge that. this one is storming around demanding someone tell him about Iorek and that he’s gonna help him but uh......once he finds him he kind of gives up, like immediately. why is he so devoted to this bear? he saved his life once? seems a bit more than that. I just don’t get it. he’s a friend sure but Lee Scoresby wants RETIREMENT MONEY, first and foremost. not a bear. no jokes intended.

second of all, the Lee Scoresby I fell in love with would never pickpocket, it’s beneath his standards. he is considerably money-grubbing but not to that extent. it��s a cheap trick and can get you in loads of trouble if you’re caught. he’s an honest criminal, okay. he’ll do illegal shit if you hire him for it, but by god he’s going to get hired right and proper.

he’s not a super subtle guy but he’s laid back - he wouldn’t storm into a place and declare his reason for being there, he’d make careful conversation with a local and try to catch wind of what’s going on. if someone crossed a moral boundary THEN he would fight. he’s.......more mature, smarter. he’s always described perfectly as laconic. that’s his central trait. he’s an observant dude. he’ll stroll right into a situation and wisecrack and help the side he thinks is right, IF he thinks it’s worth the trouble. he doesn’t start fights if he can help it. he’s a hare, not a goddamn rhinoceros.

this Scoresby is most certainly not laconic. this is a different character, and while I like him well enough, and I really ADORE his interactions with Lyra for sure, I am sorely disappointed that I don’t get to see the Lee Scoresby I love on screen for this beautiful adaptation.

The Battle of the Centuries - LPS100 vs. Grim Matchstick

Or Log #8 if ya may.

I remember in 24th of December, at 4 in the morning, I said to my sunshine “Meanwhil m jst “whos worse: wally warbles or grim matchsticks?”.

And we both got this lil gem:

At first, I just laughed. “Grim? The next binch? Pfff, nah, it’s gonna be Wally. Djimmi proved that I suck at flight levels”.

From Wednesday, 26th, to Friday, 28th, my birthday, it begin what was seemingly a literal neverending battle.

Between me... and Grim Matchstick, of all characters.

I cannot beginning to explain how fucking horrific it was to battle this asshole, I started with happiness, with confidence that I was going to defeat him in under 40 deaths. I was dead fucking wrong.

It took me a course of THREE FUCKING DAYS just to beat him. Three. Days. And I thought Djimmi was the biggest challenge, was the bitch that nearly broke me, but n o, Grim broke me, Grim made angry, Grim nearly made me cry whenever I died and was inches from ending it, Grim made me panic so many times whenver I reached final phase. I beg you to believe me, when I finally figured out how to go through the first few phases without damage, about 8-12 deaths was me inches from ending. That fucking close to end the nightmare.

I knew what to do.

I knew what I was doing was correct.

It was the pressure. The nerves of if I get hit, just once, my groove would break up and I would be lost, taking more hits and then, one.single.mistake... and back to the beginning.

But, a neverending battle has to start with a peaceful beginning...

After beating Wally and Funhouse Frazzle, which did made me cry due to a costly mistake, I decided to go up and face Grim Matchstick in the next day. I followed an advice that was “Charge is excellent for Grim” so my weapons were Roundabout and Charge.

After 2 deaths, I changed to Peashooter ... and only after 44 deaths, we both remembered that Charge got nerfed and is useless now, so Roundabout it is.

Now, what caused most of the 44 deaths? The god.fucking.damn jumping fireballs, that’s why. They are very mischievous and tricky as fuck, they will homing on you but from where you were, so if you were on the second “floor”, to the right side, they will jump to there.

The thing is sometimes, the altitude of the jump would change, even though my position was second “floor”, they would jump high enough to hit the third “floor”, resulting in either me jumping but landing onto them, me jumping but still get hit, or me successfully avoiding it but landing on the tongue or a cloud that’s on their level. So, you can consider this as the Puphead of Grim, it kept eating my health away or annihilating me in seconds.

For example:

9th death took me off guard because I wasn’t expecting it to jump up to this high;

14th death also did the same thing;

And, in some occasions, they would start jumping in fucking herds, in one of the tries, about 5-6 fires jumped one right after the other, which I’m still surprised how none of them hit me.

If it wasn’t that phase that annihilated me, it was the first phase. The tail will start wiggling and then rise up, and just like the fireballs, it will start wiggling from where you last were, so sometimes it would either catch me off guard... or corner me with the meteors, which I would either dash but still hit them or dash sucessfully but land on nothing.

The eye beans would also corner me and because parrying wasn’t my best,t he last one would do the job. After so.many.deaths, often times, the first few eye beans were so predictable that I would nail the parry on the first one and make the second eye bean aim upwards.

Around the 30th death mark, I should be close to the final phase like in Djimmi, I would have that feeling of “I know what to do, I’ve reached the final phase, I know what to do!”. That doesn’t apply here.

I would either get annihilated on the 1st phase or 2nd phase, whenever I did get to the final phase, I had no idea what to do. The reason why I won Djimmi’s battle with 49 ass kicks was because I successfully got to the final phase with full health and used the extra hits to my advantage and won.

Here? I barely got to the final phase. Hell, even when I reached the 40th death mark, I still had no idea what to do. Even after getting rid of the Charge weapon, I still had no idea or a clue or even a strategy on what to fucking do.

Only, and I shit you not, only at death 60 fucking 3, I was finally at the final phase for a longer time and nearly ended the fight... by an inch.

That would be the absolute closest call. After 63 deaths, I got that close to end him. I thought “Ok, I’m close to finish him”.

But the ride never ended.

My hands were starting to freeze due to the cold weather, I had to wear gloves but it was fingerless gloves because I couldn’t feel anything with full-hand gloves.

After 88 ass kicks, I called it a day and took a break, hoping that in the next day, I would defeat him.

But the ride never ended.

Now I can start saying the major problems with the final phase, first off:

The transition would lag my fucking game, and it did killed me because of it. Due to all the shit it had to load at once (the animation transition, the rain, the thunder, ect), I was forced to make sure I did the least amount of movement to avoid lagging the game. Only after a good couple of deaths, the lag gradually decreased;

The flamethrower would also fuck me up greatly, specially when there was no upper cloud to keep myself safe so I had to use the lower clouds... which would lead me to death.

But, the biggest problem were...

The fireballs. Fuck the fireballs so much, this is essentially why the Charge is recommended against Grim because you hold to charge and then release when it’s fully charged up. But I’m not good with precision and all the times that I used Charge, I never went far. So if I wanted to go far, I had to take the risk of using the Peashooter.

So, how does the fireballs work? Similair to the balloons in Funfair Fever, it’s a fireball inside a bubble, the moment you shoot it, it breaks into four, all going in a vertical and horizontal manner so, whenever they started shooting at me, I had to extra careful because:

The fireballs would homing on me from where I was;

It takes just one bullet to break them;

The speed of how many they would shoot would differ so, they could shoot one and then after a few 6 seconds shoot another, or shoot one right after the other;

They have three heads so I had to take awareness of where would they come from because if I was at the top of the screen and the fireball would be shot from below, then the fireball would be shot in a diagonal manner;

Let me fucking tell you. About 90% of my deaths during that phase was from those fireballs. I either would jump at the wrong time, accidentally drop downwards into a fireball, the little.fucking.tip of the fireball would touch me, OR my spacebar or S key wouldn’t respond to the input, resulting me in either dying from a fireball to the face or me just falling down to the abyss.

And sure, one could say “why not use the Chaser? It auto-homes on them!” well... that also applies to the fires.

In the next day, I went to buy the Chaser which while it worked beautifully with the second phase, because it allowed me to escape the fireballs easily while hitting him...

...It was an absolute disaster with the final phase. It also homes-in on the fireballs, creating more chaos and killing me.

So, if the Peashooter was going well with me, and the Chaser is excellent against the second phase... after an horrible attempt with the Peashooter+Roundabout, and an attempt with the Chaser+Roundabout which, once again, I was close to beat it:

I finally came up with a strategy: Peashooter+Chaser. I used the Peashooter during the first phase, then switched to Chaser during the second phase, then, during the final phase, I would carefully shoot him with the Peashooter and when the flamethrower would start, I would switch to the Chaser to keep hitting him while keeping myself safe, then switch back to Peashooter to avoid homing in on the fireballs.

I always kept reseting whenever I either took a hit in the first phase or took took hits in the second phase because I had to go to the finall phase with either full health or two hits left.

Ladies and Gentlemen and Graces, in a course on 3 deaths, I was close to beat him three fucking times in a row.

And after two more deaths... another beatdown that was also inches from ending...

... And another...

After a few deaths, aaaaaaaaaand another:

I had to take a break because my spacebar kept not responding to my input and when you start getting angry at your keyboard, that’s a sign to take a break.

I just utterly lost my hope, my happiness, my confidence, everything, because the rider kept never ending. I was that close multiple times but I just kept failing.

After a long, needing break, I finally returned to him. But, this time, I had a new idea...

I have the second Super Art - Invincibility. Ahenever I go through the first phase, I always had the Super bar full and using the first Super Art when the second phase is transitioning or during the first phase would either result in death or not hitting at all.

But, with invincibility, I could get some extra hits on him during final phase without worrying about the fireballs. And so, I changed it and see if it worked. I noticed that invincibility lasted all the cards, meaning that through the course of the cards going down, I could directly hit him. It seems this strategy might work.

Once again, I’ve been inches from defeating him 3 times in a row, and this is where the pressure would build up even more:

Because invincibility allows me to hit him directly, it means that I had to trigger it when I thought it was possible or even whenever I took a hit. So, If I was say... at 1 HP, I would trigger it and get some extra hits. After some deaths, I noticed that I could ex shoot him three times during the first phase, making the second phase even shorter and still build up the meter.

After some retries, and one death... I finally fucking did it. The moment “Knockout!” appeared, I put my hands in air and screamed “OH MY GOD, I DID IT!”.

I got a B but I didn’t cared. I was tearing up of happiness, after constantly thinking that the ride would never end, in a course of three days...

Grim Matchstick takes the fucking lead, the fucking throne and the fucking crown from Djimmi the Great with an unbelievable A HUNDRED AND TWENTY FUCKING NINE ASS KICKS.

Yes, you heard it right, a 129 Ass Kicks. With the death counter increasing from...

to begin, i have met and befriended so many amazing people on here this year and WOW!!!!!! lovely and supportive and talented, beautiful aroha friends??? it doesnt get better than that!!!!! i would attempt to tag all of u but yall know who u are ;)) im endlessly grateful to those of you who have really made being on here worth it. heck ya sometimes im like “why do i even spend time on here” but then!!!! idk sunny comes swingin in with just a heart full of love or sara comes swingin in with her eggs or marian comes swingin in with her rare pairs or j comes swingin in with her baking posts and thats not even HALF of it !!!!! seriously.....love you guys tons.

- man, did 2017 start out pretty rough when my country decided it was a good idea to elect a freakin cheeto for president. however! i had the lovely opportunity to attend the women’s march at my capital the day before inauguration !! and it was powerful!!!! truly an experience ill treasure forever!

- binch....thank u Winter Dream for my whole life. tbh i wont forget sobbing at my best friend’s house when it dropped. thank u Miss Again Dance Practice. thank u Miss You & Me MV. thank u Miss Cotton Candy Choreography. thank u. 

- ah.....when some pinhead started that tr*mp chanting at a basketball game lol! so iconic that we made the new york times! gotta love that....

- OMG !!! HOW TO SUCCEED !!!! an absolutely amazing experience. granted, the male lead was a Snake, but i had a blast. Rosemary will forever be close to my heart and ill always cry a little when i hear Brotherhood of Man or Paris Original !! such an awesome opportunity. i learned a frick ton about myself as a performer. i improved a ton in acting and dancing, and also came to learn that i am very good at receiving instructions and memorizing lines quickly. i learned that i need to work on some of my facial expressions and i also learned some of my habits ! i miss u Queenie H2$ :’’)

- had my first tap dance performance ever??? i really enjoyed learning tap, and i hope to pick it back up in the future !!!!

- BIIIIIINCCH i had the opportunity to visit my sister in korea!!!!!!! wow.....truly the BEST week of my entire year, maybe even LIFE! i went to the dog cafe, the sheep cafe, mcountdown, the lunar festival kick off, gwanghwamun palace, dongdaemun, shopped a ton around hongdae, ate food by the han river, visited namsan tower (but not without getting lost), hit the noraebang TWICE, walked into a private Fantagio board meeting, ate delicious chicken on a STIIICK, ran in the rain, ordered delivery mcdonalds, had the BEST fried chicken, met a bunch of monks, was led around dongdaemun by a very old korean man, SAW EUNWOO AND DOYEON AND RECEIVED MUCH LOVE AND NEARLY DIED, hit the convenience store literally every day, snuck out, GOT A WAVE FROM KEY :((( , bought Winter Dream and lots of skin care products and lots of cute clothes, had the clearest skin ive ever had in my life, went to a buddhist temple, witnessed a drunk man fall into the splits inbetween the ground and the subway, ran up and down 1000 subway stairs, fell in love with a man named Peanut, drank too much banana and strawberry milk, sobbed my face off at the festival as korean grandmas bowed to me, tried tons of new foods (including the nastiest bowl of cheese ramyun ive ever had in my life), bought lots of socks, rode an airplane for......like 40 hours in total? literally the best week of my Life

- had my junior vocal recital ! it was a cute girl. i felt my acting had really improved since sophomore voice recital !! 

- had prom on my 17th birthday and had a jolly good time !!! my mom made my dress and i felt like a Stunner

- dream pt. 01...she rly is that Bad Bih. best era. miss her loads. none of us ever deserved her. 

- les mis !!!!!! two whole weeks.....another Best Time. i learned so much, made so many lifetime friends, had a blast, sang my heart out.....such a freaking good time. i miss her

- got to spend the ENTIRE summer with momo!!!!!!!!!!! literally the ENTIRE!!!!! and what did we do? hit the park, watched lemonade mouth and fantastic beasts and starstruck and that random unicorn movie, made the Best slime, made that ICONIC weki meki video, laughed a ton, cried a ton, stayed up all night for the sunrise, stayed later for the sunset & thunderstorm, walked home in the pouring rain & lightning (IT IS VERY WET), went to the beach, met many dogs, got me hairs cut, befriended that Cat, and went to a painting class

- cabin week !!!!!!!!!!! whatta lovely time

- my brother’s wedding !!!! honestly? my best outfit of the year... had a bangin time. his wife is truly a cutie and i love her tons!

- there was that Mess in august and i still feel sorry to those who felt hurt because of it. i learned a lot about how things especially on the internet can be easily misunderstood and misinterpreted, so u gotta be EXTRA careful with your words ! 

- through that i also came to accept that u cant get everyone to understand or like u, and tbh that is okay for now. all we can do when we make mistakes is try to understand & learn, apologize, and try to better ourselves. and sometimes even when u do that, u still may not be liked. and thats okay. as long as you are trying your best and recognize mistakes, its all good.

- woah dude i dropped out of my arts school lmao!!! the BIGGEST change in my life since 2014.;..wow! i dont even have the words to say how much stress was lifted off of me and i love senior yr !!!!

- momo came to CT!!!!!! 

- seeing svt live !!!!! but tbh the best part was seeing momo, “I LOVE A MAN WHO CAN SEW”, “I!!!!!!!!!! LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JIHOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, “IM UNDERAGE”, and when Mo BLASTED to that other line

- LAKE COMPOUNCE LMAOOOOO I LOVE JIHOON PT2!!!!

- my mom, sister, and i took an eight week painting class! i finished two paintings and learned a ton!! honestly a good time

- i also learned that its okay to cut people off who are toxic. especially if you have already informed them that they make u feel bad, they are not worth trying to please or keep around. take care of yourself. similarly, its okay to block people, and you dont owe them an explanation

- MADI CAME HOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my other half...missed her so much :(((

- riley’s calligraphy christmas !!!!! was so much fun and i loved people’s reactions and i loved learning arohas favorite astro lyrics !!!

- ah...............one of the hardest weeks of my whole life. the pain still lingers, and i know itll hit me again like a boulder the next time we see only four of my angels standing on stage. for four months, i was worried sick about another member, and i even knew he was hurting, that his mental illness was real. my heart aches and there is a piece of it missing, but it will never be replaced. i know you are much happier now, jjong. i love you. 

- and also because of that, i have been able to think a lot about how i live my life. thoughts like ‘am i watching out for my family and friends enough?’ ‘am i listening enough?’ ‘is this funny comment worth it?’ ‘am i happy?’ im trying to be better. to not take things for granted, to only be kind, to always be there for those i love, for those who love me. and i will try my hardest to not complain about small or petty inconveniences. to try harder to be optimistic. 

- christmas was with my whole family for the first time in five years ;;; she was such a cute girl!
