It really irks me when people blame Misty for the Yellowjackets not getting rescued right away, because like. Airplane black boxes don't have gps????You can't track them, they have to be found. They just record flight information so you can tell what caused the crash.
#black boxes are made up of two things:#the flight data recorder (FDR)#which preserves the recent history of the flight through the recording of dozens of parameters collected several times per second#(parameters include altitude speed etc)#and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR)#which preserves the recent history of sounds in the cockpit including conversations between the pilots#yeah she shouldn't have destroyed it. but realistically it wouldn't have made a difference either way#the only thing that would've changed is the possibility of finding out what caused the crash#I don't think the writers know this though lol#seeing as on the show it's a literal black box even though irl they're bright orange#also it should've been wayyy harder to destroy it 😭 they're specifically made to survive extreme conditions and place crashes#a scrawny 16 year old with a rock isn't doing shit#misty quigley#yellowjackets#Yellowjackets tag#og fandom post tag

what do you think of boris’ sexuality? do you think he externalizes his internalized homophobia? this is a goldfinch ask !!
ohhhhh this is interesting. so sorry for answering this a couple weeks late!!
first of all—boris is 100% bisexual. he absolutely expresses attraction to both men and women throughout the book, that boy is BI.
the second part is wayyy harder. i think that it's really difficult to tell from what we know of him—since the book is obviously from theo's perspective, we can't quite get inside his head the same way we can with theo, so i'm just gonna list out some examples of his,,, varying queerness tolerance level, i guess lmao.
he's casual about suggesting that hobie may be gay, and has a very calm reaction compared to theo's immediate discomfort.
similar to theo, as a teenager, he never brings up the times they've had sex.
he's flippant about mentioning that theo is "the only boy [he's] ever been in bed with", and brushes it off as "[they] both needed girls".
that's.... it, i think. at least off the top of my head. so my conclusion, to be honest, isn't based on a whole lot of proof, as opposed simply to drawing from other aspects of his character.
from his casual usage of the N-word after spending time with kotku, who was "cool"; his conversion to islam, not because he believed in allah, but because the muslim people around him were good to him; and finally, his attempt to pretend to be jewish in order to work for mr. silver, it's really easy to point out that boris conforms to various environments with ease, something that he's had to be able to do because of how much he's moved around. he's not doing these things because of personal beliefs, ideas, or opinions, he's doing them because he's trying to blend in, or in some cases, seem "cool", whether it's intentional or not (depends on the situation). that doesn't mean that his actions are automatically morally good or even neutral, but it gives us an understanding of why he is the way he is, and why he's so different depending on where he is and what point of his life he's at.
i think from that, it would be easy to argue that perhaps boris himself has no personal issue with gay people, but he would most certainly display the same homophobia that was so typical at the time it was written: ie. he would be casual about someone he knows being gay, but he's also definitely described things as gay, or said the word faggot in a derogatory context.
i'm not entirely sure how to relate all of that back to his internalized homophobia, simply because we don't get to see what that's like for him, or if that's even a thought on his mind. i think i'd argue that, what with everything else that's happened/currently happening in his life, he doesn't care all that much. i doubt he would ever call himself bisexual, or pansexual, or any of that; we can assign those words to him because he's a book character, but it's also important to recognize that those weren't words he would've grown up using, and that would likely stick with him in ways that some younger people would interpret as queerphobic. he's simply boris, and if boris wants to kiss a man then boris wants to kiss a man and that's all the thought he'd devote to it.
so yeah. i suppose i believe that he's homophobic, but not because he hates gay people or himself for being gay. i also think that he would not devote any particularly meaningful amount of time to dissecting who he is in regards to his sexuality, simply because it's never been a particularly important part of his life or survival.

i hope no ones asked this before, but how experienced do u think hyung line is? like who’s most likely to be a virgin / have started having sex recently / have had sex pre debut haha cause realistically most ppl that age have had their first time already (my first time was when i was ni-ki’s age which is so weird to think about 🥲🥲) but because of their training period and still being a rookie, it looks like it’d be harder for them to meet a romantic/sexual partner
sorry for the long ask lol but i’m curious about what u might think!!! also side note i love ur blog hehe
on a scale of 1-10, who's experienced is the hyung line..♡‧₊˚
pairing ≕ hyung!enha
warning ≕ 18+/smut. Read @ your own discretion.
author's note ≕ I'm so intrigued with this request. the rule of the scale is that I rate between 1-10 on which members are experienced or not. 10 being extremely experienced and 1 being not even a kiss.

𐂂 Heeseung ≕ 6.5 - I believe for sure that Heeseung has already had a few of his firsts, like first kiss, make-out, maybe some subtle dry grinding as they do, and potentially a handjob. His first kiss would've been wayyy long ago, years before he even decided to become a trainee. I think in middle school he might've had some fling with a cute girl from science class, and they might've kissed each other in between classes, or while waiting on the bus, you know, the only time middle schoolers could do stuff like that. During his trainee time, it's highly likely that he could've met someone, and they got close, kissed a few times, it might've gone far on one or two occasions, but never anything passed a couple of make-outs and the dry grinding like I mentioned before. Heeseung was for sure the type of trainee that was more focused on becoming an idol than he was on getting into a relationship. Nothing ever went anywhere with the girl, and by the time he became an idol, he was running out of free time to do really anything else outside of Enhypen. Since he is the oldest, I could believe that the company lets him get away with a few more things, like potentially seeing girls or even going on dates with them. If that were to happen, he could take it a step further and get his first handjob, maybe even trying to explore his partner's body by touching and rubbing on them, but I still believe he's a virgin. Again, he's so focused on the group, he's not worried about losing his virginity anytime soon. He'll just go with the flow. When it happens, it happens, but he's not going to stress himself out over it.
𓊿 Jay ≕ 4 - To be crucially honest, I don't see Jay having done much in the sexual department. I'm sure he's thought about it, even almost getting close to it, but never has it gone the way he expected. Like Heeseung, I'm sure Jay has had his first kiss like many do. Jay just always seems to me like the one that has to be in a relationship in order for him to be comfortable with doing stuff with his partner. So his first kiss might've happened in his early years of high school, so they were his first serious relationship, and they got to be his first kiss, and vice versa. They broke up when Jay decided to be a trainee cause he wanted to be all focused on his career. I can see him getting teased by the others that he didn't at least get his first handjob or blowjob, but he's not worried about it. I genuinely see Jay as he is right now having some fling with another k-pop female idol. It's very brand new, they've only been on a few dates, and potentially he's thinking about taking things further. But again, he's super busy with being in Enhypen, he doesn't have time to worry about his sex life. If anything, eventually Jay will lose it, maybe in the next couple of years or so. I can see him getting into a private relationship and keeping things calm until one day it just happens.
ꈊ Jake ≕ 9 - Probably has the most experience out of all of them. There's no doubt in my mind that he hasn't already lost his virginity. He seems like he would've been the cute popular guy in high school that could get anyone he wanted, and because of that, he just has already had sex, maybe even multiple times, with the same person, or even different people. I think way before he was even a trainee, Jake might've not had the best reputation and could've been a huge fuckboy, including just giving off those vibes more than any other member. I can imagine Jake being one of those kids in elementary school that would moan for fun at recess or would talk about sexual things with his friends. Kind of like back then when he couldn't stop laughing after Jungwon accidentally moaned on a vlive. Actually, he would've had the same maturity level as Ni-Ki when he was his age since Ni-Ki was the one who kept moaning out loud to tease Jungwon. Stuff like that is what I imagined Jake to be. Now, I think he has grown a bit more mature cause he's afraid to ruin his reputation since he is an idol, so he's not so much as sexually active as he could've been before. However, Jake has experienced all of it: handjob, blowjob, eating someone out, fucking them, even maybe trying out some funky positions. I can definitely see it. I think the only thing Jake hasn't had is a possible serious relationship which is why he's at a 9.
𖠪 Sunghoon ≕ 7.5 - as much as I write about Sunghoon being this big and bad dominant person, he's probably not had much more experience than Heeseung. For one, Sunghoon has kind of been in the spotlight his entire life, so I think he's already learned how to act in front of the camera, and due to his very stressful and busy job as a figure skater, he probably hasn't had much time outside to be in relationships, but I'm sure he's managed. His first kiss could've been with the person he did his first figure skating duet with, his first girlfriend could've been with the many girls he was in class with. it didn't start to go anywhere until right before he became a trainee, and his girlfriend and they might've taken things pretty far, maybe even almost having sex, but he was too scared and maybe she was too. If anything, Like Heeseung, I can see him having a secret relationship and just now diving into his sex life. Nothing serious like a relationship, but Sunghoon is an adult and has adult needs, just like the rest of the hyungs. So a few girls, so nights out. I don't know how arrangements would work in terms of if the girl would come over to the dorm, which I doubt she would, but he also couldn't go to hers so who knows...? I'm sure they figure it out though.

Charles's strategy today compared to the sprint = ♥️
Instead of trying to overtake Verstappen at the start and being pushed again, he got right behind him, stuck with him and bided his time, putting pressure on him all the while ♥️♥️♥️
A lot of drivers would have tried to get p1 immediately. But Charles knew p2 was the best position to be at the beginning. No unnecessary risks taken and controlling the situation from the start 😭
(And getting away from Sainz as fast as possible)
He sees the bigger picture.
Binotto said he was incredibly surprised by today's performance from Ferrari and the fact that they forced Verstappen into a third pit stop
Really insane!
That first overtake really took Max by surprise it seems, and he even had to correct his path (English isn't my native language I hope you get what I mean lol)
The last laps took away about 10 years of my life tho because of the throttle and downshift problems 😅
Ferrari needs to get on top of their mechanical and reliability issues because we need more exciting races like this one!!
Hiya!
Firstly, thanks for the long asks! I love all of these! I might just take a bit longer to reply because there is so much to talk about.
Secondly, not a native English speaker either so sometimes what I say also doesn't make perfect sense in English but anyway, everything you said made sense.
Yeah they got it right which was great to see! And that they weren't pressured into things by Max pitting so early. Iirc mattia said that they used the sprint as an experiment type thing to check out the tyre deg and they knew that theirs was better than RBs.
With Charles start he did take a different line than in the sprint so Max couldn't squeeze him into the wall which would mean that Carlos could've gotten him. But it also helped that George had such a good start and Carlos was preoccupied with keeping them behind and so the first two just sped off.
Charles also said that the first few laps he still wanted to take it a bit slow and then attack which he did. I've heard it quite a lot about these new tyres that you really need to take the time to get them up to temp or you'll ruin them.
Charles definitely sees the bigger picture! It's also why he was so ready to have to keep re-overtaking Max.
I think everyone was a bit surprised by the tyre Deg differential between RB and Ferrari. Max for sure was. I think it's a thing on both sides where Ferrari were better than expected and RB was worse than expected.
Honestly, I've watched that overtake with every commentary I have access too and they were all surprised including me. He seemed wayyy too far away but he did it! He's been so incredible on the brakes this season! I mean the car definitely helps that, but he brakes soooo late and keeps getting it right without major lock ups.
And yes max did definitely had to back out a bit or he'd have risked them both. Which is smart. But I love it when these two battle especially in these new cars because they are both super aggressive but don't force it too much because they know they'll have another chance.
Same the last few laps killed me! I already was ready to faint! It was horrible! And then the gap also kept getting smaller because of Charles turn 3 because of the stupid throttle. I don't think I would've lasted another lap tbh. He couldn't downshift because the software doesn't allow that if the revs are too high and they were too high because of the stuck throttle. So that stupid pedal really tried to cause all the issues it could've on those last laps.
I think Mattia said that they know what the issue with Charles engine was and they think it's the same for Carlos and that they are fully focused ok fixing it. So that would be lovely if they could maybe do that like now. But at least they know what the issue is. That's a good start and often harder to figure out than one thinks.
I just love seeing Charles win lol but also the battle with him and Max have been so nice because they've been really clean. And they are for the lead so thats extra lovely.

narrative 2 - critical assessment
In the crit, general topics mentioned was the worldbuilding and continuity. I think that the comments about the sound make sense – maybe if there were more pauses or silence, curated moments or muffling, it would come across as more apocalyptic instead of everyday. I also thought the comment about swapping actors was interesting – I can see how that might work better. While there were good moments in the lighting, I definitely see how it was inconsistent. We kept the set up the same throughout, but maybe if it was changed for each slate to mirror each other better that would’ve worked, instead of it being stationary. I do think that there should’ve been more takes and slates, which is on me. I thought the coverage would be okay, but some of the wider shots didn’t work in post and it ended up being limiting. Learned my lesson on coverage here, I think the shotlist was stuck to too hard.
The feedback we got in tutorials was useful. The meeting with Kate definitely helped in terms of teasing out a premise/idea for the script. Because there were three people who wrote it, it was useful having a solid idea to circle around. The background of our characters was also teased out during the session(s), and it was useful to have in mind.
I contributed in both pre to post production. I contributed to writing the script, did first AC duties on set as we were short a person, directed, and was present during some of the editing and sound sessions.
I think we worked well together. There wasn’t any animosity or issues which was nice, and mostly everyone did their part. For myself, I could’ve been more decisive and clear cut on creative aspects during parts of the process, but this is something that I’m aware of and still trying to get better at. I'm bad at voicing concerns and ideas and I think I need to learn how to be a bit more assertive.
I solidified a lot about certain technical things that make producing films easier. The whole call out system at the beginning is such a basic small thing but it is super necessary. Also notes, and allotting yourself enough time to fully set up before actors arrive is major and a lesson learned. Of course, the 180 degree rule. It was harder to keep track of than you'd think, but we were also spread really thin on set, so with another person or two we probably would've caught it. I also think having a really solid, good script is a super necessity. Avid and Pro Tools (moreso Avid) also is coming to me wayyy easier than just a month ago, even. It’s nice, knowing how to use the software at least at a basic level.
I think it was the last film – the one with the teacher-student implied relationship, in the lecture hall – really got the narrative across so nicely in such a short amount of time. I was biting my knuckles in embarrassment the whole time, and got immersed into it.
