"It's called a punch, bitch! Don't ever touch my sister again."
"Get him, Ao'nung!"
"Show him!"
"Stop this! Stop it! So stupid!"
"Ow! My tail!"
"My ear! Let go! He's got my ear!"
Kiri had begun to laugh the nerves off, amused by the ridiculous display of testosterone in all her short teenage life. Hiding her giggles behind her hand, all she could do was watched as her brothers pathetically fought for her dignity against Ao'nung and some of the other reef boys. It had all been fun and games until she noticed a familiar figure in the sky and she craned her neck up to see it.
A shadow looms over the boys, darkening the world around them as it drew closer. Lo'ak and Neteyam both take a moment to recognize the shadow before dodging out of the way, hot blood cooling from the fight as they quickly moved out of the reef boys' reach. Ao'nung, laughing because he thought they were running scared of him, was the last to see the shadow, only pausing when he noticed his friends looking up and their eyes widen in horror. He isn't given a moment to turn around because something large lands in the shallow water behind him and the force of it drove him to stumble into the wet sand below him. The growling and snarls coming from behind the chief's son send chills down his frame, despite the warm day, as he finally turned his body around to stare up at the beast.
Blocking out the sun above him was a large ikran, light blue with gold lightning running up its figure, cawing loudly as if it had caught a meal. Its wings splash in the water, digging into the sand beneath and cooling off like a tired pa'li. Ao'nung began to crawl away from the ikran by the heel of his hands and feet, breath panting rapidly as the fear took over. The fear didn't lessen even as the ikran's rider dismounted, feet splashing into the beach water, drawing up to their ankles. Ao'nung tried to control his breathing as the rider stood over him, snarling down at the Metkayina boy like he was a bug that was stepped underfoot.
Y/n te Suli Neytiri'ite bore a look of disgust, her bright yellow eyes boring into Ao'nung's very soul. Without looking away from him, she addresses her ikran, her four-fingered hand petting down the side of the beast's neck, "Easy, girl. He's the wrong kind of fish. You can't eat him."
Looking around, the oldest daughter of Toruk Makto demanded answers with a stern tone, acting years older than fifteen, "What's the meaning of this?"
Lo'ak spat blood onto the sand, "They called us freaks."
Blink and you would miss it, but for Ao'nung, who refused to look away in fear of the ikran and her rider, he caught the small shift in Y/n's ears before they reverted back to normal. Her tail twitched, too, and from observation, he realized this was the Forest People's way of showing alertness or agitation.
Kiri had caught onto her sister's shift in behavior as well, her voice cautious, "Y/n..."
"Go home, Kiri. Now." Y/n's voice was flat, rid of emotion as she took charge of the situation, pointing to her twin brother, "'Teyam. Pick that skxawng up and go wash your face."
Neteyam nods dutifully, bending down and grabbing Lo'ak's elbow, the younger boy rolling his eyes at the name-calling. Y/n's eyes narrow at each of the reef boys before directing her gaze at Ao'nung, who stiffens under her close inspection, "As for you... You think it's hard to learn your ways. So why don't you try learning our ways and you can be the judge of that?"
The female Omatikaya gestures to the ikran behind her, one corner of her lips slowly turning up as a challenge, "Go ahead. Make the bond."
In response, Y/n's ikran hissed, fangs bared and jaw open wide. Ao'nung could feel the hot breath of the animal fanning his face and could see down its throat. Suddenly the courage and the teasing had left his body. Eyes still wide, unable to look away, Ao'nung can only swallow down his rapid breathing while Y/n just huffs, unimpressed, "As I suspected. You're not even brave enough to get back on your feet. You wouldn't last ten minutes in the forest, Fish Lips."
Y/n waited until all three of her siblings were walking away before she made the tsaheylu with her ikran and mounted the creature, eyebrows raised while peering down her nose at Ao'nung, "Who's the freak now?"
She had flown away, leaving Ao'nung in the sand, the ocean brushing his legs while his friends stood around, gawking. After returning her ikran to the jungle behind the village, Y/n bounded her way back to the Sullys' marui, internally preparing herself for what her siblings likely told her parents. She was not disappointed as she turned the corner, entering the tent to only find her father waiting for her, her siblings already gone from sight.
"What the hell were you doing back there?" Jake demanded under his breath the moment he saw his eldest daughter.
"What do you mean?"
"Do not try playing dumb with me right now. Your brothers already told me what happened."
"I was humbling Ao'nung." She scoffed, smiling to herself as she mocked the boy not currently present, "He couldn't bond with an ikran even if he tried. They would eat him."
Jake sighed, exhausted beyond his years at her antics as he placed one hand on his hip and the other on his pounding head, "You weren't trying to humble him, Y/n, you were humiliating him. And you knew what you were doing."
She shrugged, "Either way it's a win-win. A bruised ego is a lesson-learned ego. That is, if he's smart enough to actually learn his lesson--"
"That's enough, young lady," Jake spoke sternly, the marine in him making an appearance, "Ao'nung is the chief's son. You either need to get along with him or at the very least respect him."
"And I am Toruk Makto's daughter!" Y/n snapped back, "Maybe respect should go both ways."
"Enough."
The tone drove Y/n to straighten her posture, glaring into the space ahead of her, avoiding her father's gaze as he approached her, "Any more backlash comes out of that smart mouth of yours and you'll be grounded from flying."
Her bottom lip pokes out as she pouts. Jake's eyebrow raises at her reaction and the simple facial movement is all Y/n needs before she mumbles out, "Yes, sir."
"Good. Now get lost." Slouching, she turns to leave.
"Hey..." She turns back to find her father standing there instead of the marine, his features softening into curiosity, "How scared was Ao'nung?"
A grin slowly dawns on Y/n's face, stretching the stardust on her cheeks, "Terrified."
"Atta girl."
~~~~~~~~~
It was close to eclipse and both Neteyam and Y/n were flying their ikran, bows in hand, and enjoying a few more laps around the island before they were forced to return to the village. Neteyam makes a hand gesture and instructs his ikran to dive, his twin closely following them on hers.
They land in the jungle, their ikran hooking their claws into the trunks and vines of the vast trees. Breaking the bond, Y/n jumped to one branch and then skillfully climbed down the trunk, Neteyam not far behind her. The twins land gracefully on the forest floor, their conversation cut off midsentence to the sound of a twig snapping. Both of them spin their heads in the same direction they heard the noise, their ears wildly twitching with every little sound they heard. Finally, with bated breath, the figure behind the noise emerged. It was Ao'nung, walking towards them from the direction of the village, a big bruise now sprouting over the right side of his face.
"Does this guy have a death wish or something?" Y/n muttered to her brother, all the while peeking up at her ikran nestled in the trees above her.
"Don't react until we know what he wants," Neteyam advises, leaning his weight onto his bow, acting casual.
A little smug to spite her brother, Y/n called out to Ao'nung as he approached them, "Little far from the reef, are we Fish Lips?"
He doesn't react to the insult other than a small sneer gracing said lips. When he stood still in front of the twins, they both noticed how he was struggling to look them in the eyes. His fingers twitched, trying to find something to do while he muttered, "I did something... some would think dumb."
"Some?"
"Tsmuke." Neteyam hissed at Y/n from under his breath.
Ao'nung continued, ears flattening to the point he looked ashamed of himself, "I brought your brother hunting outside the reef. And..."
"And?" Neteyam urged him to continue.
"And I left him there."
Y/n's head tilts at the same time her pupils shrink and her fangs make an appearance, "You did what?"
"I thought he'd find his way back to the village eventually, but he still hasn't returned. I just wanted to scare him!" Ao'nung defended himself, albeit a bit weakly, his eyes pleading when he finally looked up at stared directly at Y/n, "That's all!"
She huffs a laugh of disbelief through her nose and it sounded irritable. Y/n peered over at Neteyam with narrowed eyes, "I was right, brother. He does have a death wish."
"That's enough, Y/n!" Neteyam keeps a hand out in front of his sister to keep her at bay, then uses that hand to point accusingly at Ao'nung, "And you! We're going to see my father and you're gonna tell him what you told us. Let's go!"
Defeated and preparing for the inevitable, Ao'nung has the decency to at least lower his head in shame, half of his face still swollen from the fistfight so he winced in pain when he pouted. Neteyam moves to lead the three teens out of the jungle and Ao'nung moves to follow him. A hand shoves his arm, however, and the hiss Y/n breathes into his ear as she walked past him was the exact opposite of friendly.
"If my little brother is dead out there because of you, I promise not even Eywa will find whatever is left of you."
The twins had marched Ao'nung to their family's marui, demanding he explains to Jake what he did. After carefully listening, Toruk Makto didn't hesitate to seek out Tonowari and together they start a search party. It was already dark by the time the party set out, carrying tsmisnrr lanterns and other means of light around as they flew around on their tsurak. Neteyam and Y/n even took part in the search, flying their ikran back out after their parents made them promise to stay within sight of the village.
Soon enough, a Metkayina warrior hollers out a warning call, indicating he had found the missing boy. Lo'ak was safely brought back to the village and everyone had gathered around to check on his well-being. Neteyam and Y/n landed in the sand and rushed up to meet with their brother, watching him with their eyes as Jake and Neytiri inspect him for physical wounds. Overall, he appeared unharmed, all the while he glared up at Ao'nung, who had the decency to look ashamed. As the olo'eyktan insisted that his son was to blame for this incident, Lo'ak surprisingly came to Ao'nung's rescue, blaming himself and speaking for the other boy's innocence. Jake was not amused by Lo'ak's method of gaining friends and sent the boy home after berating him for shaming the family. Once alone, both Jake and Neytiri turn to Neteyam.
"Where were you?"
"Yeah, what happened to keeping an eye on your brother?"
"Sorry, sir."
Y/n, always her brother's shadow, stepped up from behind him, appearing in the soft glow of the village lanterns, "No, it was my fault. I asked 'Teyam to come flying with me and hunt." When both parents turned to one another, exchanging a voiceless conversation, Y/n's tail twitched, "You DID say we should always pair up if we ever go flying over open water."
Jake's posture deflated, eyes closed to refrain from getting another headache, "Sweetie--"
"He can't be in two places at once, Dad," the teen girl stated with drooping big eyes and lowered ears, "That's not fair. Instead of relying on your son to look after your kids, how about the parents do it for a change?"
The words stun both the parents and brother, all three staring at Y/n in shock as if she had just grown a second head. Neytiri's shock is the first to shrink in and turn to guilt, bottom lip puckered as she moved to reach out for her daughter. Jake didn't contract whatever sentiment his mate was feeling, however, as his posture stiffened back into a former olo'eyktan and war leader. He pointed an accusing finger at her.
"This attitude, Y/n, wherever it came from, stops now. This rebellious phase is over, young lady."
"Ma Jake." Neytiri's tone was gentle, with a small hint of a threat, as if daring Jake to interrupt her, "She is fifteen. Do you remember what you were like at that age? Although I doubt this personality is not a phase. I believe it is from watching you."
Jake looked back at his mate, scandalized while Neytiri just smiles and places her hand on Y/n's shoulder, "Look at her, Jake. Look at both of them."
He dutifully turned to inspect the twins, both of them staring up at him with identical, pouting eyes that nearly made him cave to anything they asked for when they were little. They kept their hair braided and near their shoulders, aligned with beads much like the hairstyle Neytiri wore when Jake first met her all those years ago. Their tanhì were not identical, Neteyam's forming rounded or lined patterns along his nose and under his eyes while Y/n's appear more scattered on her forehead and down her cheeks like constellations. Neteyam didn't have eyebrow hair, Y/n did. He didn't have an extra finger on each hand, but Y/n did. Both looked like Neytiri, which was easy to see, but Neteyam inherited more Na'vi features from their mother while Y/n definitely inherited the alien features from their father.
Neytiri admired her two oldest children with a fond smile as she reached out to grip her husband's arm, "They are the perfect balance of what we were like. They inherited the best parts of us."
A beat of silence is left between the four of them before Jake relents, unable to look his children in the eyes any longer and waving them away, defeated, "Go rest. Make sure your brother's alright."
"Yes, sir." They both say simultaneously, trying not to appear rushed when they quickly made their exit, beads clinking together as their braids moved while they walked.
~~~~~~~~~
The next day, both Neteyam and Y/n were surprised to discover Ao'nung hanging out with Lo'ak willingly, and Lo'ak didn't appear bothered. In fact, the future olo'eyktan didn't seem interested in being anywhere unless with the Sully kids and his sister and Rotxo. He still appeared wary of them, but at least he wasn't insulting them under his breath anymore. At one point in the early afternoon, all the kids huddled around on the rocks by the beach after their chores were done and had asked Lo'ak what happened the night before. He explained how he was attacked by an akula but saved by a tulkun. The reef children doubted his story until Lo'ak gave a brief description of the creature. Tsireya, Ao'nung, and Rotxo were all shocked and explained the horror stories they knew of Payakan, unwilling to believe he could have been friendly to Lo'ak until the young Omatikaya stormed away.
Y/n had listened quietly and waited until she was back in the marui to voice her thoughts while she and her twin were weaving a fishing net together, "He's confusing."
"Who?" Neteyam looked up and caught the knowing look in her eye, "Ao'nung?"
"Yeah. He's acting... nice. He's actually sweet when he's not around the other reef boys."
"Yeah, he acts like he's related to Tsireya." Neteyam chuckled lightly through his nose.
"You think Lo'ak made up with him?"
"I think so. Or maybe some level of respect and understanding has been placed."
"Still. He was cruel." She snarled, willing herself to remember the reef boy up until the day they met him, "I don't understand how Lo'ak could forgive him. He nearly died because of Ao'nung. Kiri was harrassed by him and you guys fought."
Neytiri and Jake both enter the marui and weren't ashamed to admit they were eavesdropping when the Na'vi woman pitched in on the conversation, sitting down in front of her twins to help with the net, "He's likely just starting to warm up to you, maite."
Neteyam grins teasingly, eyebrow ridge raised in his sister's direction while speaking to his mother, "Yeah, her especially. You should see the way he stares at Y/n when she's not looking, sa'nok."
Y/n feels her neck crack when she spun her head to stare at her brother, appalled as he laughed. Obviously, he must be right about Ao'nung staring when she wasn't looking since this was all news to Y/n. Her shock turns into a scowl as she reaches over to push his shoulder, "That's ridiculous. I attacked him with an ikran, ridiculed him in front of his friends, and threatened to tear him to pieces if anything happened to Lo'ak. He's likely planning another way to humiliate me."
Jake was cleaning his gun while they talked but took a moment to side-eye his daughter when she mentioned threatening the life of the chief's son. Y/n only smiled back in response to her father's silent scrutiny, her tail waving behind her with feigned innocence. Jake returned to his weapon while shaking his head, though he didn't hide the small corner of his mouth turning up. Neytiri smiled while watching the interaction, though it didn't reach her eyes. A small wave of sadness embraced her, a harsh reminder that her babies were growing and she could not keep them forever. Soon they'll be old enough to be considered adults once they have fully completed the trials of their Iknimaya, and then they'll be free to choose their mates. The idea of her children teasing each other over innocent little crushes brings both fondness and sadness to Neytiri's mind. Where had the time gone?
She shuffled from her sitting position in order to reach her daughter, pulling a braid out of Y/n's face, "People are cruel when they're faced with something they don't understand, matxe'lan."
"Neytiri, don't you dare try to teach our daughter Ao'nung is mean to her because he likes her," Jake spoke up, finished cleaning his weapon and now looking down the sights of it with a certain reef boy at the forefront of his mind, "That way of thinking never worked on Earth and I'll be damned if I let my children believe that sort of behavior is normal."
"It is true." Neytiri's eyes began to glitter with mischief, "Although if you are anything like your father, you'll likely make a skxawng of yourself when trying to impress someone."
Jake nearly chokes while his twins burst out laughing.
~~~~~~~~~
Y/n was disappointed when she was the last of her family to finish chores late in the day, leaving her alone while they were all elsewhere. Tsireya and Rotxo have taken Neteyam, Kiri, and Tuk to the Cover of the Ancestors to show them where their Spirit Tree resided, and Lo'ak disappeared right before then, likely to go meet with his new 'friend'. As for her parents, Y/n was certain they were with Tonowari and Ronal for the day, helping them gather medicinal plants from the jungle. This left Y/n to her own devices, though she didn't have any idea what to do with this newfound freedom, so she started by just casually walking along the beach. She traveled quite a ways, the village now in the distance behind her. The beach was getting thinner to the point where she was surrounded. One side of her held the vast ocean, the other side a dense, deep green jungle. Y/n wondered how long it would take for her to completely walk around the whole island, betting on possibly two days if she did nothing but sleep and walk.
Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of something breaking through the gentle waves reaching up to the beach, and as her head spins around, her eyes immediately narrow on who was following.
It was Ao'nung, astride a hyper ilu as he himself appeared in a chipper mood, perking up and waving a fin-hand at her, "Hey! Forest Girl! Where are you going?"
"None of your business, Seaweed Brain." Was her immediate response, her internal defenses on high alert. She kept walking away but Ao'nung made sure to keep in stride with her, swimming just close enough to the shore where his ilu wouldn't get beached.
"Well, then let me come with you. Or if you are not actually going anywhere, I can show you a few good spots."
Her head turns back to him, openly skeptical as she pointedly stared at the distant village behind him, "What about your dick friends?"
He flashed her a confused grin, "My what?"
Right. 'Dick' is an alien word. Y/n huffs, rolling her eyes and facing ahead, still walking away, "You know, the pricks you were with while you were harassing my sister. Are they coming, too?"
"Oh. I dropped them."
It was said so casually, but it only confused her more, repeating the words on her own tongue, "You dropped them?"
"I don't like hanging out with them anymore," He shrugged, maneuvering his ilu to drift into deeper waters when it got too shallow, "They're no fun. All they wanna do is annoy everyone."
"And you don't?"
"Ha ha," he replied sarcastically with a deadpanned expression, "Come on, Forest Girl. Do I look like I'm in a position to trick you? I know your ikran is just one call away. I'm not that stupid."
"No?" She feigns surprise even as she slowly enters the water, the ocean greeting her up to her knees. She knew he had a good point and therefore, because of her boredom, decided to humor the reef boy and take up on his offer, "'Could've fooled me. Your stupid enough not to remember my real name."
Ao'nung rolls his eyes, "You don't exactly use my real name either."
One corner of the Omatikaya girl's lips stretches up and she shrugs with one shoulder in a touché motion. Using her tongue to make various clicks and calls, another ilu emerges from the ocean, and Y/n wads over to it, skillfully mounting it and making tsaheylu. Getting situated, she turns to Ao'nung impatiently, "Well? You mentioned a 'good spot'. Let's see it."
His grin wasn't the usual mischievous smile she had grown to correlate with him. It was more genuine and excited, his blue eyes twinkling like when the sun catches the striking blue sea. Y/n blinks in surprise at her own thoughts, quickly shoving them down as she tightens her jaw and her grip on the ilu, stubbornly staring ahead instead of at the boy.
Ao'nung drifted ahead of her, looking back over his shoulder, "Follow me! The best time to see it is at eclipse."
Both he and his ilu dive under the water and with only her thoughts, Y/n holds her breath and wills her ilu to do the same. The scenery vastly changes from land to ocean life, and the beauty below the water doesn't get ignored. Y/n was still fascinated by the ocean, always finding something new and exciting to explore. She dutifully follows Ao'nung and his ilu, smiling at the cute clicks and hums the swimming creatures make to each other. Swimming on an ilu isn't that different from flying on an ikran, only the ikran only have one rider their whole lives. The similarity between swimming in the water and flying in the air is that they both feel like freedom, riding faster than the two young Na'vi could on their own.
It wasn't a long swim, but they had completely lost the village behind them, still following the beach in the opposite direction as Y/n was doing earlier. Eventually, Ao'nung and his ilu rise to the surface, and Y/n follows, greedily gulping down air when she and her ilu breach. As she caught her breath, she looked around, trying to decipher where they were until she follows Ao'nung's gaze, her jaw slowly dropping in awe.
A large shadow had quickly grown over the teens in their approach. Looming above them was a high cliff, connected to the island and facing the open sea. This large rock face was greatly different from the ones Y/n remembered seeing as her family flew away from their home and flew across open seawater. Erosion had eaten its way through the center of the rock face, naturally cutting all the way through the cliff to form a large archway, hundreds of feet above Y/n's head. The only thing connecting the cliff to the rest of the island was the natural bridge made up of stone and plant life at the top of the arch.
"We call this place 'Sänrr Rong,'" Ao'nung explained while watching Y/n's amazed expression, craning her neck to look up at the tall archway, "'The Glow Tunnel.'"
Y/n lowered her head to face Ao'nung, the question on the tip of her tongue before he waves her off, "Wait a moment. You'll see."
And it was perfect timing. Eclipse came upon the pair and before her very eyes, Y/n witnessed a beautiful transformation. As the world darkened, bioluminescent algae began to glow and travel all the way up the inside walls of the rock archway, igniting the tunnel all the way through to the other side of the tunnel. It was so bright against the contrast of darkness that Y/n could look down and see all sorts of ocean life existing below her, an entire ecosystem that lived underneath this archway as she and Ao'nung slowly drifted through it. The water almost looked nonexistent because of how clear it was. The brightness of the arch led all the way down under the water and came back up the other side, surrounding them like a complete circle, giving off the illusion that Y/n and Ao'nung were floating on air, still straddling their peaceful ilu.
Ao'nung softly explains the beautiful sight, not wanting to ruin the illusion for the Na'vi girl, "The waves grow really high in this area, especially during storms. That's why the algae stretch all the way up to the ceiling of the tunnel. My people sing about this place, calling it the 'Doorway to Eywa' in many songs."
"Are we allowed to be here?" She asked, afraid this was a sacred place and as an outsider, she might be overstepping a boundary. This place was way too beautiful for her to be disrespecting it with her presence.
"We're still within the reef. Nothing big swims out here apart from txampaysye. We're safe. Some of the men take time away from the village and come here. Some of them cliff dive." Ao'nung catches a brief scrunch of her nose and eyebrows, an adorable expression if he wasn't trying to figure out her confusion, "You know-- cliff diving?"
Her expression falls into something more blank and impassive, unimpressed as she gestured to herself, "Do I look like I've lived around cliffs?"
He quips back in his own defense, "Do you not have an ikran rookery in the forest?"
"Well, yeah, but all the cliffs in Ayram Alusìng just lead to certain death. We don't have cliffs above water."
Ao'nung's jaw opened in disbelief, eyes bugging out of his skull as if she just told him the most unbelievable news of all time. The shock eventually wears off and is replaced by a shit-eating grin, the mischief she's grown accustomed to finally returning to his smile, "Come on. It'll be fun!"
He moves towards the cliffside and Y/n immediately reaches forward with a hand, words tumbling out, "Maybe some other time. We need to be home soon."
A mocking eyebrow ridge rises as he grins knowingly at her, "Are you sure you're not just scared?"
Her eyes narrow and her ears pin back, unwavering despite the nerves running about in her stomach, "I think you and I have been in enough trouble with our sa'sem as of late."
He relents then with a whiny groan, throwing his head up at the sky before coming back down to earth-- so to speak, "Fair enough."
The reef boy clicks his tongue, the ilu perking up attentively. Ao'nung moves to lead the way back home before he feels a hand briefly grip his arm, "Ao'nung."
He looks up, shocked as his eyes meet Y/n's, blue against yellow. Ao'nung's ilu makes a displeased noise, the creature doing a full-body shudder. Y/n didn't question it, but Ao'nung's gaze turned to the ilu, glaring down at it as if the animal betrayed him in some way shape or form. However, unbeknownst to Y/n, the ilu was only reacting to what it had felt through the bond after Ao'nung's name slipped past her lips. Ao'nung's glare relents after a moment, eyes glancing down at her small, alien hand touching his arm before he bravely glanced back up at her through his lashes.
She smiled, genuinely, like when she first saw the beauty of the archway. The attention sent a thrill up his spine, "Thank you for bringing me here."
His mouth felt dry, the tip of his ears burning but he was certain she couldn't tell in the dark. Perhaps the big ugly bruise her brother left on his face masked the embarrassment. He couldn't stare at her any longer and glanced back in the direction of the village, "You're welcome, Y/n."
Eclipse was over by the time they returned to the village. They had not returned as soon as they left, often finding themselves distracted during their swim home when either Ao'nung splashed her or Y/n chased him around on their ilu. Either way, their mounts weren't irritated, equally playful and mischievous as their riders. The young N'avi pair both felt estranged when they heard the other laugh, but it only egged them on to play around more, wanting to hear their laugh again. By the time they exhausted themselves from playing, they realized how much time had passed and finally returned to the village.
The only problem was that the village seemed tense upon their return. The joy quickly fled from Ao'nung and Y/n's faces, both scared and worried they were in trouble. However, the attention was not on the pair of teenagers, but on the gunship with war paint parked quietly on the bank closest to the Sullys' marui.
Ao'nung grabbed Y/n's shoulder instinctively and pulled her back to him, hissing at the sight of the gunship, "Sky People."
Y/n huffed and shoved his hand away, hope in her eyes with a small smile at the sight of the familiar war paint, "No, not these ones. These ones are loyal to the Na'vi and live among my clan."
Cautious and a little paranoid, Ao'nung only relented a little and eyed her down, "What are they doing here?"
That's where the hope died in her eyes, worry replacing it, "I don't know. I doubt nothing good."
The pair quickly rush to the Sullys' marui, finding a crowd of curious and equally paranoid Metkayina crowding up and down the walkways leading up to Y/n's home, worrying her further. Of course, it's always her family...
The first face she recognized was her twin, surrounded by Lo'ak and Rotxo. She rushed to her brothers with Ao'nung not far behind her, "'Teyam?" Neteyam spun around and his posture visibly relaxed, hand reaching out to gently grab the back of her neck as she looked around, "What's happening?"
"Kiri had a seizure underwater." He answered, eyes briefly glancing to Ao'nung standing behind his sister, taking note of it but not addressing it.
"What?" Y/n's eyes widen, her voice dropping to a whisper, shaking in fear.
"I don't know what happened." Rotxo explained, glancing between the teens who had just arrived, "I've never seen anything like it."
Ao'nung frowned, "Where are my mother and sister?"
"They're on their way. But there's Sky People in there, examining Kiri."
"I told you," Lo'ak addressed the concerned Rotxo, "Max and Norm are our friends. They want to help her."
Ao'nung turned to Y/n, "Aren't you the tsakarem of your clan? You could go to your sister."
Y/n shook her head, pulling Neteyam's hand off her head and squeezing it before letting go, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, "I chose not to be. Either Neteyam will find a mate who can be tsahik one day... or Kiri can do it. She's been more fascinated by it than I. And she had been teaching Tuk a thing or two..."
Y/n's eyes widen as a thought dawns on her, looking around before addressing her brothers, "Where's Tuk?"
"She's with Kiri."
"She shouldn't have to see something like that. She's too little."
Before Y/n could rush to the marui to fetch her baby sister, the tsahik arrived. Ronal glides through the crowds as they part for her, the destination the only thing on her mind. Tsireya walked close behind her with her mother's supplies gathered in her arms, handing them to her before Ronal stepped into the home. Tsireya remained outside, turning back to her group of friends, and managing to catch Y/n by the shoulders before she stepped into the marui.
"Let her work, Y/n. My mother needs the space and there are already plenty of people in there."
"But--"
"Your parents and Tuk are with Kiri," the reef girl spoke gently, smiling with understanding and kindness as she guides Y/n away, "She is not alone, I promise. She'll be alright."
The group of teens keep a reasonable distance away from the marui, sitting or standing around in each other's company as they waited. Tsireya kept Y/n close to her as if she was waiting for the Omatikaya girl to bolt. Meanwhile, Y/n took note that her father had brought Norm and Max out of the home, but her mother, sister, and Ronal were nowhere to be found, and that made her more anxious than before.
Rotxo tried breaking the silence, glancing up at his childhood friend, "So what have you been up to today, Ao'nung?"
Ao'nung, who had his arms crossed while crouched down, glanced up casually, "I went to the Arch today."
"Without me? Not cool, man."
The dig was playful as Ao'nung moved to shove him, "Well, you went to the Cove without me."
Tsireya giggled, "But you hate the Cove, Ao'nung."
Ao'nung's ears pin back and his gaze lowers to the weaving patterns of the walkway below his feet, embarrassed, "I do not."
"Do, too. You think it's boring."
"I wanna see the Cove," Lo'ak perked up, "And the Spirit Tree."
Tsireya practically beamed, ducking her head a little bashfully, "I'll take you next time."
"And me?" Y/n asked, smirking to herself when she watched her little brother's face fall at the idea of her tagging along.
Lo'ak tries brushing his disappointment away with a scoff, "Maybe Ao'nung can take you, sis."
"Or we could all go together," Tsireya offered.
Y/n could tell that Tsireya was just trying to be nice. Well, Tsireya is always nice, but sometimes she's a little too nice. She'll gladly let Y/n come along even if it meant not having as much time with Lo'ak. It was disgusting how obvious those two were. Y/n rolls her eyes jokingly and shakes her head, "Nah. Never liked being a third wheel. You kids have fun."
Lo'ak choked as he tried to form words of disagreement while the other kids laughed and Tsireya's cheeks darken a deeper shade of blue. Finally, Lo'ak managed to form words and they were clearly defensive, "You have never been a third wheel ever in our lives!"
Y/n quirks an eyebrow, "Bro, have you seen Kiri and Spider?"
"That's different! You know they don't like each other that way!"
"What way are you referring to?" Y/n grins wolfishly, tilting her head as Lo'ak realized she had caught him in a web, "And what makes you think I was implying you and Tsireya felt that way?"
As the younger Sully boy sputtered, Neteyam groans a little, nudging Y/n, "Alright, that's enough. Leave him alone or he's going to whine to me later."
"Yeah, Forest Girl," Y/n's eyes dart to the sound of his voice, catching the usual grin plastered on Ao'nung's face, "Let the little ones go. I'll take you to the Cove a different day."
Lo'ak bristled at the words, glaring at Ao'nung, "I take it back, Y/n. You can come with us."
Author's Note: Did I write this so I'd have a reason to call Ao'nung 'Seaweed Brain'? Yes, yes I did. For those who understood the reference I fucking love you.
Also, I don't personally ship Kiri and Spider, I just kind of used the pairing as a foothold for Y/n's brothers to tease her. I think they're cute, and I thought that's originally what James Cameron was going for, but the more I look into it the more I think they just love each other like siblings. In the graphic novel 'The High Ground', Kiri even states that she loves Spider like a brother and Spider doesn't question it. I think he loves her like an older sister because she protects him against other Na'vi (Neytiri) and she sticks up for him. She makes him feel like he belongs, hence why he chose her over Quaritch. Also, Kiri is played by Sigourney Weaver. I don't feel comfortable shipping two characters whose actors have zero chemistry and have a huge age gap. Clearly, I think their relationship will build up to something in the upcoming movies (Kiri uses her Eywa powers to grant Spider a kuru braid and he'll be able to breathe Pandoran air without a mask) but I don't think it'll have anything to do with romance.
That's my personal take on it. No hate to Spider/Kiri shippers. I know not everyone ships certain pairings and hates others because of their opinions and that's not what I was doing. I support Kiri/Spider shippers through and through. I also support Neteyam/Spider shippers (lowkey kinda cute) and Lo'ak/Spider shippers (also lowkey cute). Personally, I ship Ao'nung/Neteyam and I know people are going to hate me for that. But I don't hate people for shipping who they want.
Anyway, that's my PSA that ties to this Ao'nung x reader. Hope you enjoyed it!
How did you come up with roleswap Elfilis' design? It's really cool!
Hi! Thank you so much! :D I'd love to share my thought process! Gather round the armchair by the fireplace, friends! It's story time!
I've said before that the Forgotten Land Roleswap started off as a doodle that swapped Dedede and Bandana Dee's roles as Player 2 and the Brainwashed Beast. But when I realized how fun that one little change was, how about EVEN MORE changes? That's how my one-time doodle turned into the full AU story. I swapped Meta Knight and Kirby, Clawroline and Leongar, and Sillydillo and Gorimondo- and because the story is so Waddle-Dee centric, I promoted Dedede to "Player 1" since the stakes would be higher for him as their King.
So now I had a story that had a lot of opposite traits to canon and I wanted to explore that further! When it came to the matter of Elfilin, I thought he would probably behave too similarly towards Dedede and Meta as he did to Kirby and Bandee. He'd be friendly and trusting, communicative, optimistic, knowledgeable, and cooperative. So how about providing them a travel companion who is defensive, has trouble communicating, a little wild, uninformed about themselves and the world around them, and has a bit of a temper?
But working with all these opposite traits didn't feel in-character for Elfilin anymore. So my natural next step was to swap Elfilin with Elfilis and make a new version of the Forgotten Land's lost little pup!
Enough yapping about the context behind my decisions, tho. How'd I come up with Roleswap Elfilis' design?
I see you out there, Fecto Forgo fans. Maybe somebody out there's thought, "Roleswap Elfilis does not look like them! Why not? That's what the other 50% of the Ultimate Life Form looks like! I demand justice for the angry glowing rat fetus!"
Maybe nobody has ever thought this. But I wonder sometimes lol
Your feelings are valid, friends. Please lemme explain my reasonings.
This fella, to me, is the abandoned wet specimen left to float in a jar for who-knows-how-long after a forcible physical and mental separation via spatial teleportation shenanigans. And I think part of their appearance is due to their role as the trapped and forgotten half.
The role of the half that got away fully formed his own body and inherited some traits from the complete being-
For Elfilin in canon, he got ears that are proportionally huge compared to the rest of his body, blue eyes that sparkle with the light of a thousand destroyed planets, a tiny bit of pink fur for his adorable blushies, and a really long fluffy tail. Maybe becoming a being free of chaos gave him those sweet eyes like Kirby and the Waddle Dees have.
My reasoning is that whichever half ends up escaping the Lab and fully forming their own body, they would carry the major physical traits the other wouldn't inherit.
Anyway, that left Elfilis with the horns, colorful and expressive eyes, whiskers, beige chest fluff, opposable thumbs, and pink tummy fur.
Elfilin gets the long tail in the bodily divorce so Elfilis has a short stubby little cotton tail like a bunny. Like if he ended up with just the very tip of the Ultimate Life Form's tail.
Behold this diagram above I came up with two years ago! Disclaimer: the canon Elfilin is the one in the chart. And I draw him a little differently these days lol. I ain't showing anyone how he ended up in the Roleswap yet tho!!!! >:0
But Roleswap Elfilis is more than just "baby version of the Ultimate Life Form..."
All the differences in the Forgotten Land Roleswap from canon stem from one event in the timeline. One change that I added to the events that were already supposed to take place. It's why the Ultimate Life Form split differently. Why the Beasts have different roles and aesthetics. Even why the portal took Bandana Dee and Kirby before Meta Knight and King Dedede.
How did that saying go again? The flap of wings somewhere can influence a bunch of huge changes somewhere else down the line...? What was the name of that theory again....? Hmm. Not important, I guess.
Anyway, the end!! You sly dog, you got me monologuing!!1! /lighthearted
#roleswap ask#Thanks for reading today's episode of Jojo's monologues HEHEHE#I really do put a lot of thought into these things and I can't help spilling whenever I'm asked!#I'm just really happy and excited about all of this building I'm doing!#And of course most of this is my own personal theory and conjecture#in no way am I saying “MY THEORIES ARE THE ONLY RIGHT ONES”#or claim that my roleswap au about the Forgotten Land game can be the only one just because I thought about it a lot#I love seeing different conclusions and interpretations in this series. especially if they're wildly different than mine#it's why the Kirby series feels so special to me. I genuinely just want to have fun and experience others' fun too :3#roleswap scraps#elfilis#elfilin#forgotten land roleswap#headcanons#ALSO I'M SORRY ANON it's been literal months since this ask.#I'm sorry for the person that I am lol sometimes it just takes a long time for me to get these things out#I love asks and questions and cherish them! I promise <3
partyisntover.
→ pairing: yan!kth x reader
→ "we could still dance"
→ wc: 1556
→ cws: drugging, kidnapping, slight sexual innuendos
→ notes: this is inspired by one of my favorite songs, specifically the first part "PartyIsntOver", it's by tyler, the creator, and i would recommend listening to (the whole song obviously cus its fire) but specifically PartyIsntOver before/while reading :) enjoy!
parties were like your safe space. it was a strange thing to say, but it was true. for some odd reason, you always felt more at home at a bustling party than your actual house. maybe it was something about the anonymity of parties, how for one night, you could become whoever you wanted, hide the vulnerable parts of yourself within the dim lights and use the alcohol as an excuse if things were to get out of hand.
or perhaps, you just liked the chaos. raised to be a good, studious girl, you didn't get out much for your entire childhood. everything was meticulous, planned out, by-the-book. there was no room for spontaneity, or a new adventure, or even a happy accident. it was nice for a while, having the assurance that nothing would ever go wrong, but after so many years of it, you grew sick of the blandness. it was then, you realized that describing your life as "calm" and "peaceful" was masking the sad reality of it: that your life was dull.
so, the second you left the house, (literally, the minute your parents drove away from your college), you went out and found something to do. that is, you walked into the first random celebration you happened upon while strolling, and you were hooked. now your life revolved around parties, and gatherings, and events, and any excuse to throw on a nice dress and do something fun with new people. and honestly? you wouldn't have it any other way. in a way, it felt as if your inner child was being healed, like you were finally fulfilling the dreams of a little girl who just wanted to have fun.
taehyung, on the other hand, hated parties. he despised the loud music, the drunk people and their sweaty bodies, thrashing around in a closed off space, forming a pit of body odor and bad decisions. not to mention the feeling of social inferiority that he felt when he was there, and the way he just stood around, drinking whatever poison was shoved into his hand by a drunk rando didn't help his case. yet he kept showing up, every single time, he always came back, for one reason.
you.
he couldn't explain it, but the two of you, you completed each other. the yin to his yang. and the two of you, together, would create the perfect balance that you needed, that he needed. hell, just looking at you, his heart was relieved of the negative emotions that came with the social ostracization. like the confidence and happiness that bloomed in your heart was sent to his, traveling by a long, invisible string connecting the two. he knew that it would take work, and the very type of meticulous planning that you grew to hate. he wasn't someone you'd even look at. but he had determination, a drive to achieve lifelong joy, the same type he felt whenever he looked at you.
of course, he had already started by removing the obvious disturbances to fate. he tore them up, burned some of them, dissolved others, and some of them he just buried. it didn't matter where they wound up, as long as they weren't stepping on the string, he didn't care. but they were all gone now, and he could undo the final loop, the one that stopped the string from drawing a straight line from you to him, the one that would finally make things so much clearer. of course, it was a little extreme, but taehyung always took precautions. he couldn't risk the string tangling up again, and how would that happen if there was nothing for it to get caught on?
spying you from across the packed room, you were holding a drink, in your element. somehow, the painful colored lights did wonders for you, the reds and blues giving your skin a purple hue. all he could do was look from the shadows, and wait to catch your eyes. and catch they did, as it was only a few minutes before they met, and with a smirk, approached you.
you could talk later, after all, you'd have all the time in the world to talk and get to know each other after tonight. for now, he just wanted to do what he had to do and get you both out of there. you smiled at him, giving him a shouted greeting. he smiled back and leaned down towards your ear. "the party isn't over yet. want to dance?" he offered, reaching out his hand to lead you to the dance floor.
you nodded, since it was too loud to give him an actual response, and took his hand. he smiled, and weaved through the mass of people holding you tight as he did so. you found yourself in a small corner of the dance floor, away from the large crowd of people in the center. you were surprised at him, since you had seen him around at a few parties, and never saw him dance or even talk to other people. but he wasted no time in grabbing your hips and swaying the both of you along with the music. not that you didn't appreciate his forwardness, you actually enjoyed it, and it didn't take long for you to follow his lead.
"good song, hm?" he asked, leaning down so far that his head was basically in the crook of your neck. you nodded shyly, the heat in your face hopefully being hidden by the colored lights. he gave a short, husky laugh in your ear, as his feet twisted up with yours. "sorry about that, i'm not the best dancer." he apologized. you smirked, turning around to face him. standing up to talk into his ear, you laughed back. "if you're such a bad dancer, then why am i out here with you?" you asked cheekily, smiling as you took a sip of your drink.
what a shame you were facing backwards that whole time. if you weren't, maybe you would've seen the little bag of white powder taehyung dumped into your drink. maybe you could've thrown out the drink, slapped him in the face, and gone home. what a damn shame.
he shrugged his shoulders. "you're taking a chance, i guess." he shouted back, grabbing your waist again and pulling you in closer to him. as your head hit his chest, you felt the room spin violently, too violently to match the level of alcohol you had drank that night. suddenly, the music felt too loud yet muffled and far away. the strobing lights were giving you a migraine, and your legs felt like wet spaghetti.
taehyung picked up on your weakness, right away, almost as if he were expecting it. "woah, okay. have a few too many, princess?" he joked, clasping his arms around you tighter. you shook your head, the idea of forming words and annunciating them too much for you to stomach. he laughed, shaking his head in amusement. "come on, you, let's get you out of here. come on." he told you, reaching his arm under your knees and scooping you off your legs, your drink falling from your limp hands and its contents spilling out onto the floor.
you tried to shake your head more, tell him you were okay, but your movement was too weak as everything in your line of vision began to bleed into one another. he laughed again, as he moved his way through the crowd, you heard the noise of the party fade away, the sound of his voice now amplified in your ears. it was only now that you could hear the darkness in his voice, finally being unveiled as the street lights shined above you.
"god, i can't wait to get you home. we're going to have some fun, aren't we?" he murmured, hands digging further into your legs as he struggled to open the door to his car. that was enough to send you into an adrenaline overdrive, shooting your head up as he laid you gently on the car seats. "huh?!" you sputtered, trying to grab for anything you could to fight back.
"i said, 'your night out is done'. you're drunk, sweetheart, you need to go to sleep, okay? just shut your eyes." he pleaded, standing in between your legs as he stroked your cheek softly. you shook your head, weakly, but you still did it, trying to kick your legs to get him away. he grabbed your calves, stilling the thrashing motions. "stop it. i need to bring you home." he growled, "i'm doing this because i love you."
you looked around helplessly as you struggled to comprehend what he said. "what?" you choked, as he shut the back door and got into the driver's seat. "nothing, princess. just go to sleep. it'll all be good when you wake up, okay?" he comforted, starting the ignition and driving away from the bustling house.
you could feel the strands of consciousness slip out of your hands, and felt yourself falling into the abyss of something deeper than sleep. the last remnants of a thought that you could piece together were ones of panic, and the last thing you could see as your eyes fell shut, was taehyung's glare in the rearview mirror.
do you make requests for gravity falls if so could you make hcs about little Stanford and CG Stanley?
YEAH i can do that!!! gravity falls is one of my oldest interests :3 and the stans are probably my fav characters... so ya!
unsure at what point in their life you're after here so i'll just do a little bit of everything !
1.) as kids
-i think ford's regression would start to present itself in late middle school. for me, that's when school started to get to where i needed to actually try, and i think ford would experience something similar - i think stress would lead to him wanting to enjoy the things he did when he was a kid again
-neither of them would know this behavior had a name - stan was just excited that his brother wanted to play again
2.) high school
-by high school ford would know with certainty what was happening - it would never be something he did often, because he would be incredibly embarrassed
-he never fully explained it to stan, but stan knew when ford would act different, and would always make him snacks and make sure filbrick never saw ford acting different
3.) adulthood
-after meeting bill, regression became something different for ford - obviously bill was aware of it and liked it when ford did it around him. but it wasn't ever the same without stan
-stan pretty much forgot about all of it. he had always just brushed it off as ford being kind of weird so it wasn't really something memorable. of course ford was weird
4.) current day/events of the show
-by now ford felt like he could actually explain the concept to stan - who will nod and say yes he totally gets it. no need to explain further. then that night go and read 4,652 articles about it
-next day he asks ford if he still does it and if he even wants him to take care of him anymore. because he would love to
-which was very difficult for him to say and very difficult for ford to hear because he can't fathom someone actually wanting to care for him
-they spend a lot of time reading and drawing and exploring. ford mostly takes the reins and stan just makes sure he doesn't get hurt. ford's motor control is bad when he's regressed (he just like me for real) so there's a lot of stan helping him step over logs or climb big rocks
-the kids don't technically know about it but mabel knows what agere is and found some of ford's drawings once and has a sneaking suspicion. but she won't bring it up because she doesn't want to embarrass anyone
these were fun sorry it took me 3000 years to write them. i am so busy all the time
I fucked around, I found out, and I came out with an AU that wouldn't make the slightest of sense in the actual universe of where the series take place
But do indulge me, cringe AUs are addictively fun to make.
Thanks to @weltthejellyfish , @lightdragon789 , and @astralbulldragon13 for writing like, 98% of everything, would be clueless about my own AU without you 🙏
Anywho chat. Casino AU.
The casino is kind of like?? A haunted house?? Or at least the concept of it. Yeah human owned places are scattered publicly, but halfblood owned ones are in more secluded and secretive places—no human was allowed into said places, only those who are like, an altruist for halfbloods, and even they have very limited access.
Bug getting into the casino would be very difficult, they'd have to first find out where the casino even is, find it and pretend to be an ally and after that slowly work their way up and face some pretty hard challenges
The casino is a family business that was bustling at first but Cercie caught wind of it and started hunting down every family member until it was only bodie left. With only Bodie running the business, he finds a college graduate, Marco, and decides to hire him as a dealer. A few years later and he finds a kid abandoned by his step parents, Timmy, and the rest is history.
•
The descriptions of the three in the drawings:
-Swamp of Fortune was a family business run by the Willowroots, but after Cercei caught wind of it she started hunting down every family member until it was only Bodie left. Stressed and paranoid about his safety, he closed the casino down and resulted to alcohol for a few years before meeting Marco, a shady college graduate who's determined to help he guy out of his slump. One thing lead to another and now the casino is both getting popular again and is under watch by the government for alleged suspicious practices.
-Marco Palustris Cydarki dropped out of college after his involvement with dangerous people led to concerns for his safety. While he majored in computer science, his real talent lies in the arts. After dropping out, he found refuge with Bodie, an older man who just happens to own a casino, one that has a history of questionable purchases and suspicious rumors. Marco has been assisting him in various capacities since being taken in. Whether Bodie's influence is protective or manipulative remains to be seen, but Marco has stuck around, likely owing something to his benefactor.
-Timmy’s life has been a mix of captivity and survival. Born under Cercie Fain’s control, his parents faked his death, cutting off his dragon wings to pass him off as a regular gator half-blood. After being auctioned off, he was raised by Elizabeth Wheat on a half-blood farm until Cercie’s men took him. He later escaped, and found himself stranded and injured in the city, where Bodie found him and became a father figure for the guy. Since then, he's grown into a mini-manager at the casino, following in Bodie’s footsteps as a floor supervisor. Despite being the smallest his presence is larger than life.
•
These little guys personalities are a mix of OG and BM. So more sadistically playful, hence the neutral/hate relationship Marco and Timmy have with bug in this AU. Timmy and Marco probably see Bug as just a new pet, but with them getting more popular around the casino and climbing up— they could turn from a pet to a threat to the two. When it’s revealed that they’re a cop, they probably do some very… thorough interrogation to make sure they are actually on the casino’s side. Then maybe Bug offers to be a Triple Agent. They're lucky Bodie likes them around, I fear they would NOT survive if he didn't enjoy their company, they'd be torn apart if it wasnt for him...he may have used that to his advantage..but Bodie’s just so sweet, they’d never suspect anything..
•
Crimes👍
Money laundering
Bootlegging
Illegal gambling
Probably murder ngl
Loan sharking
Labor racketeering
stock manipulation
Tax fraud
•
Stupid stuff:
They'd only start calling bug, well, bug, because they were caught in their trap, and they have a habit of playing with their food. After they start using Bug as a double agent they start throwing in other nicknames—First it was just bug but then it'd turn into more playful variations of it (IE: Waterbug, Sugarbug, Bedbug, etc) The day Bodie calls them Sugar Bug, they are caught so off guard
Bodie gifted Bug a pair of butterfly earrings as a welcome gift, only for the earrings to turn out to be a tracking device/listening ddevice.
Timmy would drink like five cocktails and get black out drunk because they don’t taste like alcohol. Mudslide would be his favorite though. I can picture Marco drinking red wine, he'd would like mulled wine or wassail during winter. Bodie is either whiskey, or bourbon, but during business meetings, they all drink Willowroot family recipe Moonshine
Bodie still drinks but has cut back. He only drinks half a bottle compared to the two a day he used to drink.
Bug's aim is so fucking bad bro, it's storm trooper level bad
More stupid stuff but timeline version, kinda, idk actually:
-Bug was tasked to locate the casino, gets chased and almost mauled by a halfblood before Bodie intervenes and helps Bug from dying.
- I'd imagine when Bug is recovering and is eager to work to repay Bodie back. He asks Timmy to keep watch of Bug and kind of assesses Bug to see if they could work at the casino and the two talk from there
-Then Bodie and Timmy along with Bug, go out on a walk, talking about taxe evasion, casinos, and mafias, all that fun jazz. But they stumble upon Tony and Sparkie trying to track down any rogue halfbloods. prompt them to relay it to Cercie that Bug found the casino and she sends the hunters to bug, just to tell them to get every secret they can find and report back to them. Which Bug is very hesitant on doing. Not only because they’ve helped them and shown they aren’t the monsters their people painted them as... also because these gator folk could kill them very easily.
Like the end of episode 3 or maybe when Marco comes in with info on Bug (that maybe Bodie asked Marco to do a background check or interrogate Bug idk man) and that’s when they ask Bug to be a double agent
-It’s been a few months (maybe) and Bug is stressing but pulling through being a double agent in relaying info to both sides. But also getting closer to the bois as they treated them slightly better then Cercie and her people did. Which results in Bug confiding in Bodie and being accepted into their lives.
Idk what to do with the rest bro you figure it out.
Last stupid stuff I promise
Okay I'm done now
Yippee @capitalmaudios @magebunkshelf @dayspriteofficial
#my art#will i go back to this AU?#who knows.#maybe i will#maybe i won’t#I've gotten over the drawings#i hate them now /lh /hj#sigh anyway#gator boys#the bug army#obsidian lantern#capital m audios#daysprite#yeah Marco and Timmy do kinda definitely hate bug ngl#i just really like drama okay#this AU is so cringe i cannot#but i love drawing the accessories on the boys#Swamp of Fortune
So, I had a tiny epiphany tonight.
I have divorced parents with diametrically opposed approaches to maintaining relationships with their children. My father is self-absorbed, manipulative, and insecure to the degree that even though he's intelligent, funny, and interesting, all three of his adult children believe our lives are better without him. My mother, on the other hand, has never been on the outs with any of us.
I didn't want to travel back to the States for the holidays this year, because 1) it's expensive, and 2) it's always, always emotionally exhausting in some way. I was fully prepared to spend it alone or with friends, but my mother came to Ireland to spend Christmas and New Year's with me.
Then I broke my foot. But that's another story.
Anyway, tonight we were having dinner, and I showed her the newly revised pitch for the book I'm writing. She doesn't dislike fantasy, but she's more of a romance gal, so my whole motivation in showing her was more of a, "Look, Mommy, I made a drawing for the fridge," kind of thing rather than a, "Here is a book you would choose and then tell your friends about," thing.
And as casual as can be, the way she has done since I was a child, she supported me.
She said she can feel it, that this upcoming year will be the year Big Things happen, and she said, "You're gonna write the movie screenplay for your book, and I'm gonna come to the premiere."
She's always been like this.
Once, when I was in high school, I was lying on my back near her desk and I said, "Remember that short story I wrote in first grade about the wolf who eats the hunter?"
She said, "I certainly do," and opened her desk's bottom drawer, took out a manila folder, and handed the looseleaf papers to me.
I've always felt humbled by her belief in me. Possibly because my father seems to see all of his children as extensions of himself, so his emotional support is forever conditional. Hers is just…always there. Unfailing, unquestioning.
And I've apologized to my mother over and over throughout the years for not succeeding more. For not making more of the support she's given me. She always seems so confused by my guilt.
Then I realized, maybe for the first time, that her love and support aren't only not conditional, they're just…easy for her. She isn't trying to be supportive. It isn't work or effort for her to believe in her children and to tell us.
Tonight, she rattled off a stream of compliments, confident in my future in a way that I've never felt, and for once, I wasn't focused on myself, but on her. And rather than apologize to her yet again, or internally punish myself for getting praise that I don't feel like I deserve, I actually absorbed it.
I'm in my mid-thirties now, and I'm still finding all the ways my father wore down my heartstrings and tangled my brainstem. And who knows, maybe some of this insecurity didn't come from him. Life is complicated, and it can be too easy to blame everything on a bad parent.
The epiphany I had is that even when I'm complimenting my mother for not being like my father, I'm still centering him instead of her.
And that's why I want to focus more actively and more often on the good my mother has done for me. Because her words have shaped some of my favorite things about myself.
When I was four, I stood up to some classmates when they made fun of a friend for crying, and when I told my mother about it later, she said offhandedly but proudly, "You have such a strong sense of justice," and so protecting others became one of my core values. Very literally in that moment. I'd never thought of myself as someone who could protect anyone until she said it was so.
She has built the scaffolding of my life in so many ways, and I'm going to appreciate that more.
And tell her that I'm proud of her, too.
ROUND TWO BABY GIVE IT UP FOR ROUND TWO !!
Keyper will once again be participating in the Kirby OC Tournament! ( @kirbyoctournament ) Much to his dismay... pray for his antisocial soul. As such, he will also be open for asks and interactions!
Submission and character information below the cut- it's a bit of a copy/paste from his last one but there have been edits :3
Keyper (17, he/him)
Reference Images:
(The other OC in these drawings is Rhodo! She will not be included in my submission but is Keyper's only friend, so she's often seen with him. They live together in Raisin Ruins.)
Notes on Personality:
Although not shy, Keyper is very antisocial, if only for the fact that he doesn't know how to interact with others and is accustomed to being alone. His reclusive nature is more of a habit than a choice, though he'd like to (and does) say otherwise. He puts his needs first always, concerned with his own well-being as a means of survival.
He doesn't like to talk about himself, but he has a bit of an ego and will brag about his own abilities over others- usually right before overestimating himself and absolutely eating dirt at whatever he was doing. If someone is having trouble with something, he will likely tease or taunt them and not help. On the flipside, he's easily upset when things don't go his way- much like his grouchy demeanor would suggest. Generally, Keyper comes off as a snarky, moody teenager, motivated by little other than anything with immediate utility.
Despite himself, he tends to gravitate towards those like him- whether they be lonely or simply surviving but especially if they are struggling in their problems. He feels a need to get these people on their feet if nothing else, knowing the hardships of being stressed and underprepared.
In rare cases, when confronted with something unexpected (be it anywhere from getting lost in a new place to emotional vulnerability), Keyper's immediate response is fear and anxiety. He doesn't like unfamiliar situations and will try to get out of them as soon as possible, or otherwise shuts down.
Backstory and Lore:
Keyper is a hybrid Key Dee/Hunter Scarfy. An odd combination for sure, and even stranger is his role in this dynamic: he watches over a key that seemingly has no door. Though he doesn't know what it does, he has an attachment to it and values it even more than himself. He has no home and by now no parents, living in the sands of Raisin Ruins for all of his life. He took up bounty hunting as a way to live, moving from town to town to take on whatever jobs he can get his claws on. Many people reject his offers to work because he's so young, though...
Other fun facts:
His favorite foods are bread, apples, and honey. On the contrary he despises most sugary desserts like ice cream or cakes.
Uncomfortable in super crowded areas and prefers to be with just a few people if being alone is not an option, a role that is nowadays taken by Rhodo.
Has not had a proper bath in one million years (maybe like one or two months).
Prides himself on his claws and will do anything to keep them clean and sharp, even if the rest of his hygiene isn't maintained so carefully. Because of this, he'll opt for using a knife rather than his claws for fighting.
He is easily distracted by shiny objects. Please do not take advantage of this fact, he will be very upset.
His bag contains multitudes, a possibly comedic amount of things to carry everywhere on a regular basis, but incredibly useful. Many people suspect there's some kind of enchantment on it, but when asked, he shrugs and says he "just found it".
Despite having floating paws, he prefers to keep them close and won't reach out very far with them.
His eyesight is much worse with his single eye rather than the false ones, which is something he's self-conscious about.
Is colorblind (deuteranopia).
#gawzdrawz#kirby series#kirby oc tournament#kirby: keyper#kirby: rhodo#kirby oc#uhhh i think thats all my tags#anyway yea :) hes back#sorry i dont have time to do more for this post !!!!#i have... so many things to do.... haah
Hello! My name is Moriah and I am a junior in high school. I was wondering if I might be able to get your insight on a few questions I have?
I am in my final years of high school and am starting to think about college but I have no idea what I want to pursue. I know I love art, so for a long time I have been thinking about getting an art major or going to an art school.
I’m reaching out because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ART and I think you are a very talented artist! I have been in love with your art for so long and I am curious and wondering how you are able to fit drawing into your life?
1.) If you went to college for art, what was it like? Do you think going to school for art or having an art major is worth it?
2.) how can I fit art into my everyday life? I’m sure you have work and other things to do in your life so how do you balance it out? (I just want to know how you can draw as much as you do!)
3.) do you do art as a full-time career or part-time career? is it an alright source of income? If it is a part-time career, how do you balance work, personal life, and art?
Thank you so much! And sorry if these questions might seem personal. I just want to know how other artist manage to draw and create their work and still have an adult life. Thanks again, and thank you for being a huge inspiration in my life to create the art I love! Your art means so much to me!❤️❤️ ❤️
Hi Moriah! Thank you so much for your patience since it took me a bit to answer this. I'll do my best to be as honest as possible. 1) I think going to college can be beneficial even if I wish i'd done things differently. In hindsight I would have definitely taken more time to really look through all available options instead of gunning straight for the most "prestigious" looking colleges since the idea of having a big name school on your resume was pretty prevalent when I was growing up. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design or SCAD for short and while I don't regret the friends I made there, I do regret not understanding just how much an institution like that ended up costing in loans compared to what I got out of it education wise. It always hurts my heart to see other kids get chained to huge amounts of student loan debt that could have been avoided. And even then you don't necessarily need a college degree for every type of art job. Your portfolio is what really matters more to prospective work places if you're looking at a career related to art. I would also keep in mind that the field is very competitive depending on what your goals are. Do you want to get into animation? game design? illustration? comics? prop design, character design or environment design? ect ect. Always try and give yourself the best advantage you can with researched knowledge of what you might be getting yourself into. Also there is no rush to go immediately into college even if you're dead set on wanting to attend one. Please give yourself as much time as you need to really make that decision and, if you have the option, don't feel pressured into thinking you HAVE to make that choice immediately out of high school. 2) I do get quite a bit of production art done on my days off mostly since I'm very experienced in working on group projects like Mystery Skulls Animated. When you're doing art and production work with other people, there's a different mindset in that others are relying on you to keep decently productive so that you're not holding up the pipeline if you're dedicated to seeing a project through to completion. Now when it comes to purely fun art on the side, I've actually only recently started balancing my time out better with work to sketch since the draw back of working on a group project like this for so long is a certain level of burn out. I had about a 2-3 year period where I couldn't get myself to draw much of anything even if I was excited about something like a new game or animated series and it's taken awhile to come to terms with the time lost since my body and head needed that time to recover and that's something i'm much more ok with now. I'm not the absolute best on advice for time management unfortunately, but seeking out projects that might interest you and lets you collaborate with other artists is definitely one way to keep yourself excited and engaged when wanting to make art. Just know and/or learn your limits and you'll be better about not getting too burned out when trying to find that decent balance of art time and other life activities. 3) I actually don't do art full time even if that was originally the plan back in college. I personally found out that I didn't want to turn it into a job the closer graduation came, but that varies completely from person to person and plenty of up and coming artists have found fulfillment in having art be their job too. I used to make prints for conventions so that was a partial income source for a little bit, but again for me it got tiring and I ended up getting a different more physical job to supplement my income while still being able to have enough time to stick around with my friend group on our music video projects. And again there's no shame in taking some time in trying to figure out if you want to make art your job and coming to a different conclusion. Sometimes the things we plan when we're younger take a wildly different turn out of left field and education or job aspirations are very much included in that.
#personal#personal ramblings#long post#college#art college#I hope some of these answers helped with your questions!
🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
🎵깊은 밤 저 하늘 위에
Warning sign🎵
Deep in the night, you sat alone on the stool which was by the bar. Taking small sips of your drink you stared at the wall ahead of you with no thoughts in your mind.
Who would have thought or guessed that a two year old relationship will break off in summer like this? With no warning signs ahead?
Everything was perfect. You were happy with your now ex, life was great when out of nowhere you get a text from him saying your two year relationship was over.
Having no motivation to do anything after that heartbreaking news you just thought that it'd best if you came to a club which was by the beach.
Looking around the crowded club you felt yourself getting tired of the view which was in front of you.
People living their life to the fullest, having their own fun, making out, having a fun night out with their friends.
You were never able to experience that. Your whole teenage life all you did was study just to impress your parents and then when you entered university you started living again only to get tied down by the end of it.
Getting in a relationship made you feel tied down to some unknown boundaries. Your whole life you were never able to see who you really were.
Always going ahead with what others told you were. They said you were too gentle? Then you thought you were. If they said you're too rude to others? You thought they were right. And that behaviour made you fall behind while others walked all over you.
Getting tired of your own thoughts you walked out of the bar with the drink in your hand. You were not planning on getting drunk. You hated the headache it left you with the next day.
All you wanted for now was to get over your ex and never think about him again. You wanted to find your true self and not what others told you you were.
Walking down the beach the night air blew your shoulder length hair. The cool salty air calmed you down a bit as you closed your eyes and took a deep breath in.
Walking towards the sea you sat down on the sand. Your drink long forgotten by you. Staring down at the golden sand you started playing with it. Drawing random things only for it to get washed away by the sea water.
From the corner of your eyes you could see a figure approaching you. Stopping what you were doing you stared up at him as you saw him walk toward you calmly.
Sitting down beside you he forwarded his hand towards you "Eric," Shaking his hand you introduced yourself "Y/N," it was silent after that as you continued what you were doing not in the mood to make a long conversation with anyone at the moment. You were far too busy with your own thoughts which were playing in your mind.
Clearing his throat Eric spoke up again "Why are you sitting here all alone? The nights still long. Loosen up, have some fun." You chuckled lightly at his words and shook your head.
"I am not someone who just has that kind of energy. I don't know how to have fun.." you said softly as you looked at him. There you saw him already staring at you. You felt some kind of sensation in your stomach when you stared in his eyes.
🎵첫눈에 번쩍 튀는 spark
아래 you and me🎵
It some kind of spark you had never felt before. It felt nice but weird. You were scared of this new feeling. Is this a good sign? Or is it a warning sign? Ignoring your feelings you looked away from Eric and rubbed your arms when the cold breeze hit them.
"I can teach you how to have fun. Do you know how to ride a skateboard?" Eric asked making you look at him questionably
"No? Why?"
"Come with me," Eric stood up from his place and offered his hand to you. Staring at his hand you hesitantly reached out and held his hand. Standing up you dusted your dress trying to get the sand off.
"Where too though?" You ask while walking side by side with him.
"Skating rink.." Eric replied as he looked around the quite street of the town.
"What about the skateboard? Where will you get that?" You ask curiously.
"There might be some lying around in the rink. Let's see.." he said unbothered making you furrow your eyebrows.
🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
"Oh look! There are a bunch of skateboards there!" Eric said in excitement as he went to fetch one of the skateboards.
"They just...leave their skateboards like this lying around?" You ask him confusion and slight shock evident in your tone.
"Meh I mean they don't really care much. But we got what we needed. Come on. Let me show you how to ride it." Eric grabbed your hand and dragged you to the centre of the rink.
Getting on top of the skateboard Eric demonstrated on how to use it. Riding it effortlessly he showed you some skills he knew off making you look at him in astonishment
"Woah...you're so good at this.." you said in amazement. Looking at Eric with wide eyes you saw him coming towards you. Stepping aside for him he stopped right beside you.
"Come on. You try it now." Eric said while holding your hand and leading you towards the skateboard.
Shaking your head as a no you stood still on your place, "No, I will just embarrass myself in front of you." You tell him and refuse to get on the skateboard.
"It's not that hard Y/N. Come on. I will help you." Eric said with a smile on his face, his face wrinkling in a adorable smile which made your heart skip a beat. That feeling came again. Sparks. It made your stomach churn again but it was not a awful feeling it was rather something you liked. It felt nice. It was like there were fireworks in your stomach.
"Promise me you won't let me go?" You say your voice slightly shaking. You were excited to try something new but at the same time you were scared. Scared of disappointing yourself if you fail in succeeding it.
Giving you a smile Eric nodded at your words and helped you stand on the board. Holding both of your hands in a gentle yet tight hold he helped balance yourself on top of it.
"Not so hard, is it?" Eric said as he looked you in the eye with a soft smile on his face, "Now try to push yourself ahead. Remove your right leg of the board and settle it down on the ground. Give it a light push and balance yourself. Don't worry I will not let go."
Nodding at his words you did what Eric said. Carefully placing your foot down you gave yourself a push and moved ahead slowly and steadily. Looking up at Eric with a huge smile on your face you said in excitement, "I just did that! Did you see?" You looked him in the eye.
There it came again. It was like you were possessed whenever you looked in his eyes. This feeling you were having was filled with spark. Something you never knew you needed until now. It was exciting.
"Go ahead. Try again. This time do it with more force." Eric said encouragingly. Nodding at his words you pushed yourself ahead. By instinct you let go of his hands and continued with what you learned a moment ago.
Going forward in excitement you looked back at Eric and saw him smiling at. Getting caught in the moment you failed to notice that you were starting to lose your balance.
🎵Slow down baby, slow down
이미 trippin', trippin'🎵
"Eric! I am gonna fall!" You yelled in panic only to lose your balance and fall down on the hard surface.
You heard footsteps coming towards you, "Y/N! Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?" Eric asked in panic as he frantically looked around for any signs of injuries or wounds.
Seeing him so worried made you laugh a bit. Looking up at you Eric furrowed his eyebrows, "Why are you laughing?" Eric asked in confusion.
Seeing him so confused made you laugh more. Falling down on the ground you stared up in the sky. "What...?" Eric looked at you as he smiled staring at your laughing figure.
It was as if you were drunk all night. Tapping on the ground you told Eric to come and sit down beside you.
Sitting down beside you Eric stared up in the sky, the moonlight shining it's light on both of you. With him you felt like you were finally able to find yourself which you never knew existed. It was like a destiny which shined brightly like a dream.
Scooting closer to Eric you got yourself comfortable and leaned your head on his shoulder. You felt your heart thump in your chest. It was a nervous feeling you knew you never felt this before.
🎵떨린 첫 느낌대로 (fallin' in love)
이 밤을 갈라 what you wait for (what you wait for)🎵
Staring up at him you saw his perfect jawline which complimented his tanned skin. Feeling your stare on him Eric stared down at you.
You noticed his gaze looking down at your lips for a split second before he looked in your eyes again.
Leaning closer to him you you felt it again. The fireworks in your stomach. Slowly you saw Eric inch closer to you. Grabbing your chin Eric pulled you closer and attached his lips on yours.
🎵물든 on your lips
자극된 상상 가득히 날린 confetti🎵
The whole night you spent talking with Eric. Getting to know each other more. Till sunrise you both were in the same place, together.
Time passed by quickly when you were together. Watching the sunrise together you stared down at the hands which were entangled together.
This was what you needed. Something new, something exciting which did not made you feel like you were tied down to it. Eric made you forget about that feeling you always felt.
Staring in his eyes again, you could see the fireworks in his eyes while you felt the fireworks in your stomach making you give out a smile.
"You would be here the whole summer right?" Eric whispered as he bought your hand closer to his lips and gave a light peck on the back of hand.
"Hmm..all summer.." you whispered.
"So you're mine the whole summer?" Eric said while coming closer to you
"Why only summer? Why not your whole life?" You said with a chuckle
"I don't mind that. Calling you mine for the lifetime sounds better then just saying that for this summer.." Eric grinned as he kissed you on the lips again. Holding onto your waist he pulled you closer to his body.
This felt like a destiny which shined brighter then the flames ever could. It was like a fairytale you never knew you needed.
🎵'Cause you are mine, mine, mine
The fireworks in your eyes🎵
Every Sound Your Heart Makes
Here’s chapter 2 of my secret Santa gift for @headcanonheadcase! It’s been so fun creating this for you, and I hope you enjoy this next part.
Summary: It’s been six years since Azriel came back to his hometown, with his newborn daughter in tow. Six years since Gwyn moved away from whatever heartbreak she’d left behind in her previous life and opened up a diner in Starlight Grove.
Now, unable to resist the urge to help Gwyn, Azriel volunteers to design sets for their town’s Christmas musical. But what happens when the town grump and the woman he’s fallen for can no longer hold back from the inevitable?
Chapter 2: Follow Where You Lead
Read on AO3: Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
Read a snippet below:
It’s just him. Until he feels someone step out behind him.
There’s a note of surprise, evident in the tensing of Azriel’s shoulders. Even without turning around, he knows who it is: Gwyn, who surely should still be inside, engaged in conversation with the other townspeople. That’s what she does most Thursday nights—he knows this because he often finds himself blinking at the ‘Be Back Soon’ sign settled atop the door of her diner. It seems that even with her limited time in Starlight Grove, she’d already engrained herself enough into the community that people didn't seem to remember a time without her.
Azriel does—remember, that is. Before Gwyn, there had been few things he’d looked forward to in their small town. Yet, ever since he’d met her six years ago, her very presence had reshaped the way he saw this place. The Archeron’s bakery was no longer known for the best pies, but it was where Gwyn giggled in delight as she took bite after bite of what was supposed to be Azriel’s slice. Where she had whipped cream on the tip of her nose, that he gladly wiped off with the pad of his thumb. The town’s bookstore was no longer a place to get books, but where Gwyn had dragged him between shelves, stacking romance novels into his outstretched arms. Where she blushed when he’d settled them on a nearby table, picked one, and read a scene aloud.
And, somehow, Starlight Grove was not only where he’d grown up, but where he’d grown into this new version of himself—one marked with heartbreak and pain and, despite it all, love. He feels it, stirring in his chest, when he holds his daughter, and when he laughs with his mother as the two of them cook dinner. He feels it when he teases Nesta and Emerie, and when he has his annual snowball fight with his chosen brothers. He feels it now, when he recognizes Gwyn from the sound of her footsteps and the feel of her fingers as she wraps a hand around his wrist.
“Come on,” she says simply, using her hold to pull him along. She moves easily across the sidewalk, and even as Azriel presses his heels into the ground, there’s not much force behind it.
He lets her guide him. Of course, he does.
Turning towards Gwyn, he sees that she’s wearing her blue hat again. The material covers the tips of her ears, and, from this close, he can see every stitch in the knitted pattern. Her gloves, however, are absent now, so he can feel the cold press of her fingertips against his skin.
It draws a shiver up his spine, for more reasons than one.
“Where are we going?” he asks, the words strung together in a single breath.
Her response is short—curt. “To the theatre.”
To talk more about their plans for the musical, he’s sure. That’s what Gwyn had told him the week before, but there’s an urgency to her movements that prompts him to shift more of his weight onto his heels. To push back.
“What’s the hurry?”
Gwyn huffs, using her other hand to tighten her grip on him. She puts all her strength into trying to move him, and when he doesn’t budge—not even an inch—she turns narrowed eyes at him.
“I don’t want anyone to see us leaving together,” she admits, her tone more accusatory than anything.
Azriel blinks at her. He wonders if she can see the surprise in his expression as his gaze darts over her features, searching for more of an explanation to make sense of her words. When he doesn’t find it, he can only ask “Why?”
“They’ll talk.”
He laughs. And maybe it’s the lingering effect of the wine, maybe it’s the sight of colour rushing to Gwyn’s cheeks, but the sound is deep—uncontrolled in a way that leaves him nearly breathless.
The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 6. Machine
Day 6. Machine Crossover: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (and later series) "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We got some work to do now. Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We need some help from you now." I cannot wait for the scene when they take Sammy's mask off :3 I'd watch an episode like that. Btw. in case anyone is wondering, Shaggy checks whether bacon soups are 20 or 50 years after expired, because it depends on whether he decides to heat them before eating or not :D
Am I a fan of Scooby-Doo? Well... yes and no. As a little kid, I loved the show, I even had VHS tapes of the episodes... But then my lil brother got hooked on it and watched it so obsessively that I hated the whole show (especially since his favourite was that damn Scrapy-Doo, so he was tormenting me episodes with him, and Scooby-Doom, the other son of the b*ch, which I hate). However, I still enjoyed the full-length movies, and to this day I still enjoy watching some of them (for example: "Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" or "Scooby-Doo! in Where's My Mummy?..." by the way, the former was made in the year of my birth, so he's older than me, yay!) But then came the era of weird Scooby-Doo series that delighted me again and stole my heart, like "Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!", "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" or crazy one "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!" (I love self-ironical, self-parodying shows). So... yeah, I guess I'm a Scooby Doo fan now. What's more, I will now say something that will probably make some people hate me: I like the "scandalous" show "Velma". Uuuu! Everyone will stop following me now, what a drama.
I have to admit that I had fun - although it was probably one of the most difficult Ink Demonths so far (counting the future ones I've already drawn). Scooby-Doo is damn hard to draw, because he has very caricatured features while having quite a dog's build, and when broken down into simple shapes, he's... just plain ugly to draw. Shaggy was a bit of a challenge, but it was a real pleasure to draw Velma. By the way, these two are my favourite characters - and I ship them in their youth (in their mature life, I prefer Shaggy with that cool alien from one of the movies). I used, of course, the background from BATIM - and choosing the right one and then framing it the best took me a lot of time and frustration too. I originally wanted a setting from the first chapter, but nothing looked right with the characters on it. I finally made it to the second chapter - and I think it turned out really nice. However, I am extremely proud of how cans turned out, the expiration date of which is checked by Shaggy.
If anyone doesn't understand why this entry is for "machine" theme, let me remind you that the Gang drove a cool, colourful van called... that's right! The Mystery Machine! If you didn't know that, you can't consider yourself a Scooby-Doo fan :D
Hello I hope you are doing well! I wanted to say that I really love your art! Could I ask for more information about Henri and Claire, or just Henri in general? I think they're super cute but additionally, I think Henri is interesting by himself because I feel like I don't know as much about him! How long has he been immortal? How did he become immortal? How did he learn to exorcise? Oh, and I wanted to ask how you feel about fanart of your ocs? I really love Claire's design and I think it would be fun to draw him :)
:D! No one's ever asked me about Henri before! Also to answer your last question I'd love fanart of my OCs 🥺
More on Henri under the cut:
Okay so basically his backstory goes like this: back in the Victorian era there was this couple that was really into the occult. They were fairly nomadic, traveling the states as consultants when people were having supernaturally driven issues. This couple also happened to have a young son, Henri. Henri and his folks were very close and he took after them and their interest in ancient magic A Lot.
When Henri was about 9 his parents died. They left everything to him, but they didn't exactly have a house or anything, just a ton of old books and cursed trinkets. His favorite though was a book that was written entirely in ancient greek. So when he ran away to avoid being shipped off to live with relatives that didnt appreciate his interest in magic too much, that book was one of the things he thought to grab first.
Grief can make a 9 year old orphan do crazy shit, for Henri it became about trying to translate this book. Thats when he discovered problem number 2 with the book: its full of dark magic. Every spell in it is awful and corrupting. There's one unfinisged spell thats meant to banish a demon from their host body. And its like the one spell he can concieve of in this book that isnt just like flat out evil. So he decided to try and finish it.
The book also has a demon summoning ritual in it, so you can guess what he does.
After that he's saddled with Claire a 12 year old girl who is VERY mad it him about getting rid of her demon and demands he help her find him again. (Note: Claire does not realize he's trans yet here)
They try to summon skid back but it just doesnt work, so they gotta do this the old fashioned way.
Takes them months before they finally manage to track skid down again, but during that time the two manage to become friends. Claire opens up a lot about her fear of dying and how she feels she cant enjoy life because of how little time she has left. Henri decides his new goal in life is to heal her so that they can grow up and grow old together. He tells her as much and she gives him this gentle little smile and he internally is like "i would die for her" (he's in love but doesnt know it yet.)
Once Skid is back in and puppeting the body, Henri makes the choice to stick by Skid's side. He needs them to be close for when he finally figures out a way to heal her. And ya know the modern medicine of cough syrup with cocaine and mercury isnt gonna do it so he starts experimenting with magic instead.
He's 15 when he accidentally curses himself. Part of the curse effects his memory, so he doesn't actually know WHAT he did, and he doesn't even realize right away that he isn't aging. All he knows at first is that suddenly dark magics waaaay easier to do so he needs to be careful about that and also one of his eyes is fucked up. So now his secondary motive is also undo his own curse as well as heal Claire. Cuz itd suck if he finally heals Claire but isnt able to age himself, ya know?
Henri's a pretty chill guy and most of the cast view him as skid's 2nd in command and often her voice of reason(though he himself is prone to being impulsive and moody due to the whole technically still being 15 thing). The underlings also all view him as an older brother sort, because he's protective but often "hands off" in how deals with things but also hes just really tall. Lucky him he had his growth spurt before cursing himself to never age.
He tends to have a lot of memory issues, some days are worse than others. On his worst days he doesn't even remember how he met skid, but most days hes just sort of fuzzy and cant quite remember all 200 years he's spent by their side. His vision has also deteriorated with time, he cant see out of his left eye at all and can only make out colors and general shapes out with his left.
Even though he stuck with Skid for Claire's sake, Henri has actually become very close with skid after 200 years. Skid's secretive and doesnt actually like talking about themself honestly but depsite that he knows a lot about them. He knows skid has their own memory issues, and he's aware that Skid's not a full demon. He's heard skid's human name before but forgot it at some point and knows better than to ask about it. He's also very aware that Skid's prone to getting involved in shit which leads to them getting hurt magically and letting Claire run the body for a couple days every other decade. So they still get to see each other. These brief meetings is how Henri realized he was in love with Claire.
Bonus Info: Henri doesn't actually subscribe to modern labels and doesnt really consider himself as being into women or men. He just loves who he loves. (Hes asexual and panromantic)
Fun Fact: i came up with Henri and Skid when I was 12, but every other character in their story, including Claire, formed a slightly later.
^ skid and Henri drawings from when I was 12
#its funny how skid honestly has barely changed in design but henri has changed quite a bit#but flipside henri's backstory basically hasnt changed at all but skids has changed a Lot#Henri's backstory: 'orphan teen boy cursed with immortality and amnesia forgot how he befriended demon but sticks with em anyways'#and hes been in love with Claire since the moment i actually developed him as an entity seperate from skid#henri is just too solid#skid was here#my ocs#my art#even if its old as shit lol
Captain yells in the abyss about cosplays and broken dreams 🙃
Curse my hobby for 15 years having been cosplay and my college degree also having been costume making because I very much still have the "maker's mindset" despite having no energy to actually commit to cosplay for the past 2 years. The pandemic killed my enthusiasm for convention-going for obvious reasons, and I took up drawing digitally. However I still approach new media with crafting costumes in mind, thinking about what outfits would be fun to pour hours into making a reality, browsing fabrics and materials (and occasionally buy things whoops), and frequently daydreaming about having fun at conventions again along with doing cool photoshoots.
My last large WIP was Mother Miranda and there's still months of work to be done before she's wearable. Never finished my Angie doll for my Donna cosplay either. I do still want to finish MM after 2 years tho... EXCEPT NOW THAT DAMN CRAFTING BUG IS TRYNA BITE ME AGAIN WITH AGATHAAAAA
Goddddd I want to make that 1950s dress so bad! It'd be so cute to dressin black and white, to painted up to look like I walked out of the show. And that sexy frock coat... UGHHHH. THE DESIGN IS SO RIDICULOUS WITH THE BACK BUT I WANT IT. I WANT TO PATTERN THAT STUPID SEXY SHIT.
But with everything... do I impulsively try to make things before my ADHD fucks off and I get bored, or keep waiting to see if the desire fades all while dying to give in? And... do I even have the energy to try anymore without my chronic illnesses keeling me over while I barely juggle extra work shifts and life? 😭
#I want to do so many things in life and just... every facet of my life is limited by illnesses. It SUCKS.#I haven't had the energy to draw much lately either even tho I want to#And obviously if I start up cosplay again my drawing time will go way down. I can't win here.#I want to jump back in to costuming but the percent chance I don't finish yet another project is insanely high. I mean astronomically so.#Drawing WIPs are free to abandon but costume WIPs cost money and sometimes quite a lot! And I've had numerous cosplays I've abandoned befor#Sighs... all this turmoil and for what? I'm so weak and tired all the time just trying to keep up with normal people
"Oh I just do some tour work" Kyle "Gaz" Garrick X Male!musician!reader
Summary: (y/n) is a very famous and well known musician. He picks up Gaz after a mission only to meet two people from his team, Soap doesn't realise who (y/n) is.
One shot
The team had just returned home from a mission, all headed for leave. A few cars and people were waiting for some team members.
Soap, specifically, had asked his uncle and aunt to pick him up. Their home always had a bed waiting for him and after their latest mission... well, anyone would want some time decompressing. It hadn't gone the best, not that they usually were a walk in the park.
Simon had someone who also just wore a mask pick him up, one equally as reclusive as the other. The a perfect pairing.
König was already headed to KoTac as he usually did, a quick goodbye and back onto the next plane heading to wherever he wad needed.
And Price... well the good captain was standing in some corner snogging his wife as though they were teenagers again, both just happy to have each other in their arms.
Gaz frowned as he looked around, missing a familiar face in the crowd of families. A man who usually kept to himself to not draw unnecessary attention.
A small group of people dispersed and a familiar (H/C) head of hair walked out of it, a small smile on his face even if he looked a bit flustered. (Y/N) (L/N), a world-famous singer and guitarist.
Gaz ran up to his fiance, happily sweeping him up in his arms and kissing him. "It's been too long," Gaz whispered before kissing (y/n) again. Not at all caring that anyone could see.
He heard Soap wolf whistle, Ghost stood directly behind him. "When you said you had a lad a home, I didn't expect you to fall for such a pretty face," Soap said, teasing Gaz.
(Y/n) chuckled. "We have known each other since childhood." He said and took his hand in his, matching gold wedding bands sat on their fingers. "I don't complain about him being away on a mission and he doesn't complain when I go away for work."
Soap tilted his head. "Work? What do you work as?" He asked, causing Gaz to stifle a laugh.
(Y/n) looked genuinely amused. "I do some tour work, it's nothing big." (Y/n) said.
"Ah, for what singer or band?" Soap asked, genuinely curious. He did listen to a lot of mixed genres in his time on leave.
(Y/n) looked to Gaz who was holding a very good poker face. They both exchanged a silent look most commonly seen in married couples or parents who choose to say a little white lie to poke harmless fun off their children. The type that always gets laughed about later on in life. "Ah, it's just (band name)."
"Never heard of them, are they big?" Soap asked, completely unaware that the past 3 years had been filled with nothing but their music. It was downright impossible to turn on the radio without hearing their music, then again, the Scottish man didn't listen much to the radio.
"Hmm, yeah usually sells out entire stadiums quickly, so yeah, they are very big." (Y/n) said, keeping his tone of voice light and without any reason to doubt his statement. "My darling, shall we head home? I have a freshly baked cake that will be cool for when we return."
Gaz could practically feel his mouth watering at the thought. "I can't wait to marry you." He said as they walked off, holding hands with his fiance.
Soap stood back with Ghost. "Johnny you are an idiot." Ghost said, chuckling under his breath. The chuckle was so low that only Soap had ever heard.
"What do you mean?" Soap looked up at him.
"That was (Y/N) (L/N), the lead singer of (band name)." Ghost said and walked past him. "Very famous guitarist too. He has played with Queen before."
"Wait, wait wait, what?!" Soap followed after him.
all i know since yesterday is everything has changed
MY FIRST REQUEST EVER!! in this LIFE CHANGING fic full of TWISTS and TURNS and indescribable VIOLENCE and HEARTBREAK, mc falls in love with eva's kindergarten teacher, donna beneviento, after somehow divorcing miranda. also posted on ao3!
for the amazing @isas-bathbombs :3
The first time MC stopped to talk to Donna was an afternoon in August, just to explain their current family situation. Apparently MC was in the process of a… very complicated divorce with their wife. MC rambled a bit about the whole affair; Donna didn’t get much about what they were saying. There was a lot of talk about control and sabotage and arguments and… crows?
She really didn’t get it, but MC wanted to make sure Donna would watch over their daughter, Eva, extra carefully during her classes. She was just a kindergartener, and this was her first year of public school. Previously, she was enrolled in a school literally made by her other mother. How does that even work? How rich were they?
It was a bit insane, but Donna appreciated the concern MC had for their child. Donna wasn’t a mother herself, but she did have her own child in the form of her niece Angie. It’s not like it was rare to see parents care for their kids; it would be concerning if they didn’t. But… Donna could tell MC had such a love for their child and really just wanted the best for her.
Donna didn’t expect to see MC that often. Of course, they would be there to pick up and drop off Eva for the days when they had her, but surely, MC wouldn’t directly talk to Donna that much, right?
Well.
The second time MC talked to Donna was when MC claimed that Eva lost her jacket at school and asked if she knew where it was.
It was mid-September. There had rarely even been a slightly chill day. Why would Eva have worn her jacket to school and lost it? Donna hadn’t even remembered seeing Eva with her jacket.
Was MC lying just to visit Donna? If that was the case, she was flattered. No other parent had ever done something like that to just talk to her. It was a nice change from the usual activities Donna was accustomed to.
They talked for a while until MC noticed the time. They waved goodbye to Donna and took Eva out, having seemingly forgotten about the jacket. Donna smiled as she saw the parent and child walk out of the room.
It was only a day until MC came to visit again. This time, for a much more trivial matter. They were interested in the color pencils Donna had used in her class; Eva had brought home an absolutely beautiful drawing that now lived on the fridge, with a cookie monster magnet holding it up. And MC was absolutely obsessed with the colors.
Donna learned that MC was an artist, at least an artist for fun. It had been their hobby for years and they began to pick it up again after the divorce. Donna told MC which brand she bought them from and even offered to give MC their very own pack. MC refused; they knew they were quite expensive, and Donna obviously didn’t make much as a kindergarten teacher.
And then the next day, MC returned. This time, during class, a bit during lunch. They stood at the end of class until the bell rang, watching Donna teach the class. They were able to see the care Donna put into her teaching. It was as if the students were plants, and she was helping them bloom into amazing people. Her patience, the soft tone in which she spoke to them, simply everything about her was just incredible to MC. Donna even seemed much more confident with the children as opposed to MC; she was definitely in her element in the classroom.
After the lunch bell rang, MC and Donna had a chat. MC just came to bring a field trip permission slip that they forgot to put in Eva’s bag. Donna thanked MC and said goodbye to them, but MC did not move. Instead, they just started asking Donna about everything.
Literally everything.
MC asked about her hobbies, why she became a kindergarten teacher, and, for some reason Donna did not know, if she was in a relationship of some sorts. Donna told MC about her favorite pastimes; she was a gardener and a dollmaker. In fact, multiple of the dolls that the students played with were made by Donna. She often took requests from the children, with most of the ones she did being based off of their favorite characters. MC could tell she really cared about all of the students she taught. It was absolutely a step-up from the teachers MC had before. They were glad Eva was in such good hands when they weren’t around. Donna also simply said that she became a kindergarten teacher because she cared about kids and wanted to help them grow; she was especially inspired by her niece that she adopted years ago, who didn’t have the best relationship with any of her teachers. And finally, Donna told MC the most information: she was single. Still, a really odd question… surely, MC didn’t have a crush, right? Who would love someone like her?
Donna decided to take her turn to ask a question. She asked something on the mind of every person MC talked to…
What does MC stand for?
MC opened their mouth, only for the bell to ring and a horde of kids rushed into the room. Donna had to quickly go back to teaching and said her farewells to MC. One day, she would find out what MC’s name stood for…
Donna thought about that conversation all day. A parent never went out of their way to talk to Donna like that. They all just viewed her as a good teacher, but quite an awkward person to try to have a conversation with. Maybe MC would visit again more, and they could grow their friendship.
MC did visit the next day, but this time to ask if they could be a chaperone for Eva’s field trip. Of course, Donna said yes; they were in desperate need of one actually. The former one they had apparently had a terrible break-up with some actress… she sounded pretty familiar, but MC couldn’t pinpoint who exactly it was. But, it really didn’t matter. Now MC was the chaperone! And they had a chance to hang out with a really cute and nice person.
And then, the next day, MC came, just to ask a few questions about the field trip. Useless questions really… it seemed just like they wanted to find reasons to talk to Donna. But, that couldn’t be the case. They were just trying to be prepared.
Hopefully, at least.
The idea of someone having interest in Donna was outlandish to her; she hadn’t gone on a date in years, and most people who interacted with her often ended up just finding her weird. And the last person she loved… . Maybe it was for the better that Donna didn’t try to find love. And maybe, MC just wanted to be nice, and didn’t like Donna that way.
Although, wouldn’t it be nice if they did?
MC was there every day of every week, always having an interesting conversation topic to talk to Donna about. And every day, the two got closer. It was a bit overwhelming for Donna; she wasn’t used to this much conversation out of what was needed. But, she enjoyed it. She enjoyed talking to someone so kind and thoughtful. It was a new part of her day, and she loved it.
But then one day, MC wasn’t there. They never arrived and Eva had just gotten picked up by one of her aunts.
It hurt. It really hurt Donna. She had looked forward to it all day, and then no one was there. Just like all the times before. She was so stupid for believing MC had an interest in her.
Donna requested a substitute for the next day of school. Maybe it was a bit stupid to miss a day of work over a relationship that was strictly just meetings at school. Maybe it was stupid to get so invested. Maybe it was stupid to even fall in love.
The bed became all Donna knew over the weekend, with her niece occasionally visiting to check up on her. At least someone had still cared.
Donna’s depressive episode was interrupted when she heard an unfamiliar knock at the door. It definitely wasn’t her niece; she had her own key. Donna didn’t order anything too… maybe it was one of those weird religious groups trying to recruit her for something? Or a survey taker? Definitely not anyone important.
But the knocking persisted, and Donna had no choice but to put on her coat and go to the door. Slowly but surely, she dragged herself and looked through the window first, just wanting to see who it was.
It was MC. With a huge bouquet of flowers. There were roses, tulips, lilies, and more, all a dark, beautiful red. And a huge smile on their face.
Donna instantly opened the door, her emotions a mix of sadness, anger, confusion, and enamorment. Why did MC not visit yesterday? Did they really care that much to find her house with a bunch of lovely flowers? How did they even find her house?
Words started pouring out of MC’s mouth. They stumbled over all their words, but Donna understood everything.
Apparently, MC had ordered the flowers the day they had missed school and planned to bring them to Donna after school, but the order took too long and they couldn’t make it in time. And when they were ready to go the next day, some weird lady was teaching instead. Then MC had to track down Donna, and found her niece on Instagram, and had to explain everything without sounding like a creep trying to track down her aunt to kidnap her.
Luckily, her niece was excited that Donna was finally close to finding love, and drove MC there. An absolutely terrible decision on MC’s part; they should’ve just drove themselves. MC didn’t think it was possible to get in a crash almost six times in ten minutes. And now, they had an audience a few meters away, parked in a broken-down car with a window slightly open, eyes peering through.
Donna was stunned that someone had done so much for her. MC really cared for her. It was… beautiful. Someone had truly loved Donna.
MC asked for forgiveness; their rambling wouldn’t stop until Donna put her finger on MC’s lip, shushing her before staring in their eyes. And then, Donna leaned in for a kiss, cupping MC’s face in her hands.
Their kiss was beautiful. It felt as if sparks were flying, as if the sun was shining down on them, the beautiful, golden daylight engulfing them in an unexplainable aura.
It was also accompanied by the faint cheering of Donna’s niece.
MC asked Donna if she would like to go on a date to a puppet-making class. It was silly, yes, but Donna could tell MC put thought into it; it was close enough to dolls and they would both be able to make cute, matching puppets that were a sign of their love. And of course, Donna said yes.
She was excited. The past few days had been so dreary, and now, the future seemed brighter than ever. Donna invited MC inside, and they talked for hours. MC even revealed the second time they ever visited Donna wasn’t intentional; MC had genuinely lost the jacket. But they saw the care Donna had, the love and the understanding. And that’s what made MC fall in love. Someone had helped them with someone as simple as trying to find a lost jacket that wasn’t even at school, and thus began MC’s quest to find random things to talk to Donna about. Someone had put in the effort to unlock Donna’s heart and show her love again, and Donna had shown blind care and affection for the recently divorced MC, someone who had felt very dejected about love until they met her.
It was perfect.
And as the moon rose, the two had to say their goodbyes, promising to meet tomorrow. But before MC walked out the door, they turned around and looked at Donna, a glimmer in their eyes.
“I love you.”
