Blog Post - Convention Preview ᯓᡣ𐭩‧₊˚ ⊹
I've always enjoyed participating in fandom experiences! Though, I haven't been to anything crazy, like Comic-Con or Anime Expo. My most notable were just a few local Florida conventions. But they were still fun overall and gave a great look into youth culture and fandom communities with its vast amount of participants around the globe and things tailored for each fandom.
My first convention was PolyCon at Florida Polytechnic University. I don't remember much about it because it was a couple of years ago, but would say it was a good time! The convention itself was pretty quaint with not a lot to do and not many people attending besides Polytechnic students. But for being my first exposure to convention life, I was enamored. There was also a student-run maid cafe that was amusing to go to, specifically because my dad came to the convention with me. Younger me had absolutely no idea how to explain to my dad why a bunch of college students were in cat ears, maid costumes, and doing intricate dance routines. He was so confused... it was lowkey hilarious but also embarrassing.
I'd say the most memorable convention memory I have is when I went to Mega Con in 2021! It wasn't super long after the COVID quarantine got lifted, and so until then, I hadn't gone to anything or seen many people for what felt like a long time. Being able to go to a convention (of course, by then it was safe to be in public spaces) and simultaneously going with my best friend for her first time was just what I needed. However, it was very different with COVID regulations still in place, like masks and social distancing. But I did notice the convention felt like a sense of normalcy for many con-goers after the pandemic. Everyone I met was so kind (and that's rare because you're bound to run into a few bad eggs or creeps), and every cosplayer I saw, even with the masks, made the most out of their costumes! My best friend and I also tried to cosplay as our favorite characters from Demon Slayer because the anime was a huge comfort to us while we holed up inside our homes with nothing to do. Yes, I think my costume was horrible because I am no professional, and I lowkey hate looking at pictures of it, but it did act as a nice escape from the COVID-filled reality at the time. Because of that, I was so happy to spend that precious time with my best friend! And buy a lot of stuff in the artist alley because Mega Con's is so big lol.
Another convention I went to earlier this year was the University of Florida convention, Swamp Con! I never knew until later in my first semester that UF held its own convention, and I think more students should know about it! Swamp Con is an event completely run by students in the Reitz Union, which I think is super impressive based on how many activities there were to do! There were panels, quizzes, performances, cosplay contests, an artist alley, outdoor games, special foods and drinks, and even a maid cafe (which was so funny to see a second time in a college). I also cosplayed again for this convention as Sophie Hatter from Howl's Moving Castle, which is such a huge shocker based on my Tumblr.
Overall, the convention setting on a college campus took an unseen pressure off, which is something I also remembered feeling at PolyCon. I thought that would be an interesting thing to point out compared to venue conventions!

the ranpo cosplay 🔥🗣💯🙏🏽 (lots of writing ahead lol)
bro i was meant to meet at my friends house so we and another friend could all leave together but i thought i was running late so my only mirror pic of my full outfit was blurry. so, i put some emoji over my face, behold top part of my outfit. i didn't wear the regular pants, so i wore white knitted tights with a black skirt.
also, i did wear a wig, but since i accidentally ripped couldn't fit my hair in it, i ended up just having my hair open under it. and later when my friends showed me their wig caps, i realised i didn't actually have one and it was the thing that covered my wig when it came 💀. anyways that doesn't matter... 👍
a pic of the cosplay will be under the cut!
tho it was tiring, i will say the event was fun, chaos and definitely something worth waiting so long for :)
under the cut, i'll write some stuff i did because i really enjoyed most of it!
there were so many pretty cosplays, they were amazing! i took lots of photos, with mostly bsd cosplayers. some people came up to me and said i looked nice, a few asked for a photo and a few asked if i was ranpo. oh my lord, whenever people told me i looked nice the moment they left i turned to my friend and silently screamed.
there was just dance! and me and my friends lined up twice. first time, we did a vocaloid song, i think it was called Ievan Polkka. the second time, we were gonna do Judas by Lady Gaga but ended up doing Rasputin.
here's a list of some of the cosplays (characters/fandoms) i saw and took pictures with :)
jjk - gojo
bsd - chuuya (pm, beast!), dazai (dark era, ada), akutagawa, kyouka, atsushi, ranpo (another one!), nikolai, sigma, mori
tgcf/heaven official's blessing - xie lian, hua cheng
vocaloid - miku, emu, rin, len
lucky star - konata
genshin impact - kazuha
and here is a list of some of the cosplays (characters/fandoms) i saw but didnt take pictures with (💔) (yes i had to search some of their names.)
jjk - itadori, riko, toji, choso
genshin impact - xiao, raiden shogun, furina, hu tao, yae miko, nahida, navia, neuvillette, venti, alhaitham, baizhu, wriothesley, scaramouche
demon slayer - inosuke, tanjiro, nezuko, shinobu, douma, kokushibo, obanai, mitsuri
seraph of the end - shinoa, krul
hsr - aventurine
twd - rick grimes
i didn't eat much, but i brought a pack of lollipops to share with my friends and i bought a crepe! my first time eating one, it was a Nutella and strawberry one.
also, i bought a jjk Hidden Inventory poster (for like $20). this pic's from the internet but this is the poster i bought!! :D
its so pretty!!
and as said earlier, a pic of the cosplay :) @starzcoded convinced me to post it here :>
hope that wasn't too much yapping!! :D

Necessary Evil, Chapter 2
‘What did he say?’ Sophie asked Sarah when she saw Loki walking away from her.
‘That he really is Loki.’ Sarah scoffed. ‘Must be a cosplayer and got too big for his boots or something similar. But this could still be a fun get together.’ She shrugged.
‘Well, perhaps being a leader of whatever this is has gone to his head a little. But at least he’s hot.’ Sophie smirked.
‘It’ll be interesting to see what the whole thing is about, why they’re trying to recruit more people and what for.’ Sarah said as they headed over to get another drink. ‘Maybe it’s just a big front, it’s probably just to give some mystery. Make things exciting. It’s nothing more than a regular get together, really.’
‘Yeah, that’s most likely.’ Sophie agreed.
‘Hey newbies! Settling in?’ Casey asked as she approached the two with Matt.
‘Think so.’ Sarah laughed. ‘So how often do you all get together, how long has it been going on?’
‘It started about six months ago, Andy and Maddie were the first two and then it just grew from there. As far as I’m aware, there’s you two plus around another eight people that have just come along today for the first time.’ Matt said. ‘We meet up every week like this, but this place is an open door for all members any time of the day. Usually always someone around nowadays.’
There was a young woman that approached them with a clipboard. ‘Hi, my name’s Jen. I’m just gathering all the new names and information.’ She smiled at Sarah and Sophie.
She took their full name, postcode and age. Sarah wasn’t sure why she needed their postcode, but she was ok giving it since they didn’t want the number part of the address.
‘Thank you, and nice to meet you both. Hope you will enjoy it here.’ Jen said, still smiling as she moved on.
Loki then gathered everyone around him again. So Sarah and Sophie joined Matt and Casey a bit closer than they had been previously, next to George and Hanna.
‘That’s Andy and Maddie over there.’ Matt whispered to Sarah and tilted his head in the direction of the couple that were stood right on front of Loki, gazing at him with so much adoration in their eyes.
‘I hope you’ve all had a chance to mingle around, to get to know one another a bit more.’ Loki spoke loudly to the group, making everyone fall silent instantly.
‘Now, to explain to our newbies here. As I mentioned earlier, my name is Loki. And everyone else here are all my lovely, devoted brothers and sisters. Our goal here is to help me to get back home to Asgard. All I need for that to happen is your trust, loyalty and commitment.’ He put his hands over his heart as he looked around the room. ‘And in return, in the meantime, I can give you sanctuary, friendships and hope. And I give you all my word that the many riches of Asgard awaits when our mission is completed. Idun’s apples, gold and gifts beyond your wildest dreams… And of course, the promise of Valhalla when the time comes.’
Everyone erupted into cheer and clapped loudly, while Loki grinned widely and soaked in being in the spotlight.
Sarah was slightly confused as she clapped slowly, Sophie was the same. But they saw everyone around them going mad after his speech full of promises.
‘I’m still confused.’ Sophie whispered to Sarah.
‘Me too. Asgard riches?’ She whispered back to her.
Loki laughed as he calmed everyone down by putting his hands up, everyone fell silent for him again. He looked at Jen and nodded, she handed him the paper with the information of the newcomers.
‘I’d like to say an extra warm welcome to all of our newbies tonight.’ Loki then called out all the names of everyone, and with every name everyone clapped and looked at said person. Sarah felt a bit embarrassed being in the spotlight for a few seconds, but was glad it wasn’t for long.
‘As usual, there will be an official welcoming ceremony for you all next week. To give you a chance to get to know us, and us you.’ Loki said as he looked at Sarah with a smile, making her heart skip a beat. ‘That’s when you’ll be given official and unlimited access to our home here.’ He said as he motioned around the place.
‘Now, to everyone else, just keep spreading the word for now. And for the rest of tonight, just relax and have fun. Get to know your new brothers and sisters, answer any questions they may have.’
Everyone clapped again and a few people whooped. Sarah and Sophie just looked at one another, utterly confused.
But everyone was warm and welcoming as they mingled around a bit again, getting more drinks and food too.
‘So… This guy thinks he’s really Loki the God and is trying to get home to Asgard? And we help him, how, exactly?’ Sarah asked Matt, Casey, George and Hanna.
‘He doesn’t think he’s Loki, he is Loki.’ Hanna said.
‘But… It’s not possible.’ Sophie said.
‘It is. He’s right here on front of us.’ Matt laughed. ‘And once we all help him get home… Just think of the possibilities. We’ll be stinking rich!’
Sarah and Sophie shared a look with one another again, still not convinced at all.
‘It’s nice finally having somewhere I belong, somewhere to feel safe with people that actually care for me. I owe it all to Loki.’ Casey said.
‘And this will always be your home, Casey.’ Came Loki’s voice from behind as he approached the mini group. He placed his hand on her shoulder and gave her a brief squeeze before letting go again.
Casey looked a little flustered. ‘Can’t thank you enough, Loki.’ She bumbled out quickly with a big smile.
Loki just smiled back at her, then looked at the others and his gaze landed on Sarah and Sophie. ‘How are you both getting on? I hope everyone is making you feel welcome?’
‘Yes, they certainly are.’ Sophie nodded.
‘Is the food ok? Do either of you have any dietary requirements? We can certainly cater for anything you require.’ Loki asked as he moved a little closer towards Sarah.
‘No, it’s all good… Thank you.’ Sophie said.
‘Yep, great.’ Sarah nodded in agreement.
‘What brought you both here, hmm? Was it the poster or do you know someone here already?’ Loki asked Sarah and Sophie.
‘Poster for me.’ Sarah said.
‘My cousin, Lara. Though she’s not here tonight as she’s ill.’ Sophie said.
‘Yes, I heard she was ill. I hope she recovers soon… Sarah, I want to speak to you about your artwork, if we may?’ Loki motioned over towards the art.
Sarah’s eyes went wide but she nodded eagerly and followed him across the room.
‘You’re incredibly talented. Are you an artist?’ Loki asked as they reached the art board.
‘Thank you. Oh man, I wish…’ Sarah sighed. ‘I just work in a local shop right now. Trying to pay off my student debts.’
‘Ah. That’s a shame. Your talent should be recognised, not hidden away…’ He looked at her art and tapped his lower lip. ‘Whilst I enjoy our simple poster, and it has worked on getting some people in, perhaps you’d be able to make something… better. Something that will draw people’s attention more. If that’s something you’d be interested in doing?’
Sarah was surprised, yet flattered, too. ‘I… I think I could come up with something, if you really want me to?’
‘Of course, I wouldn’t have asked otherwise.’ Loki chuckled. ‘Having your kind of talent, definitely don’t want it to go to waste. As I said, the helmet does draw some people in. Perhaps it’s fine for our posters, but it’s not good enough for our logo.’
‘Do you still want the helmet as the main kind of focal point?’
‘Well, what do you think? Was that what got your curiosity?’ Loki asked her, turning to face her fully.
‘Uhm… I’m not sure… I guess it was.’ Sarah shrugged.
Loki smirked. ‘Those that are fans, are drawn to it whether knowingly or not. It’s within you all already. We’re all meant to be here, together.’
Sarah was mesmerised once more by his eyes and voice, but she quickly got her thoughts together again. ‘Yeah… I’d say the helmet is pretty important then.’ She nodded.
‘So you’ll do it?’ Loki asked, hopeful. ‘Of course, it won’t go un-rewarded if you do.’
Sarah nodded up at him with a smile. ‘Yeah, I’ll happily do it.’
She was ecstatic that someone liked her art so much that they wanted more. Though she couldn’t lie, she did wonder what he meant by reward.
‘Excellent.’ Loki clasped his hands together. ‘Take all the time you need for it, I know that masterpieces can’t be done overnight after all.’
‘I’ll give it my all.’ Sarah said. Though she wasn’t entirely sure why she said that really. But there was just something about Loki, he was charming the pants off her and definitely getting under her skin.
‘I am hoping that because you’ve accepted my little task, that means you shall be returning and do indeed want to join?’
Sarah looked around at everyone chatting happily and enjoying themselves, then she looked back at Loki who was smiling dazzlingly down at her.
‘Yeah, I do.’

ok i've been meaning to send this ask all day but never caught the time. I see so much haikyuu on your blog lately! Tell me more! (funny thing is we are doing a rewatch at home too!) tell me your story and EVERYTHING you want. And also!!!! i can see you shipping hinata and kenma?
OK ok, strap yourself in because I cannot guarantee that this will make any sense. But I’ll do my best.
To be off to a great start, I do not remember how I got into Haikyuu. One day it wasn’t and the next it was. From pictures I have I can say that I was into Haikyuu in my last year of middle school (so 2015-2016). By then I already had mangas but I’m pretty sure I was first attracted to it by the anime so I’d already seen the first season (and maybe the second too) and I had started buying the mangas.
(I shall put a read more here cause this post is LONG, beware!!)
Pictured below is one of my productions during my mandatory stage de troisième. I was in a graphic design agency and I was shy so I’d eat real fast at lunch time and use the rest of the time drawing and my supervisor saw me one day and offered to give me an exercise around it that would make me both enjoy what I was doing and also understand more stuff about graphic design. He was awesome. He really went with all my little cringe interests and encouraged me. The exercise he gave me was to create a cover for Haikyuu. I had a lot of fun with the lettering, understanding the dimensions and everything. He then made me create a brand, understanding why brands are called what they are, making my own logo, and then I worked on one of their (maybe) projects.
(top is the cover I did, the second one is what I was working on when he gave me the assignment, last on is me being crazy and drawing yaoi in a room full of adults at 14 and them going good job, you wanna keep drawing ?)
Yes I already had a favourite character but it will become more apparent soon. I got really into volleyball because Haikyuu made it look so cool. I was never a sports guy so it was really hard to want to have fun while being so bad with endurance and athleticism. All I had to my name was my flexibility because of dancing for years. Once again I think I was very lucky with the people I met. My PE teacher was really nice and could have just let me skip the class but he didn’t. Wait no, this needs more context. I didn’t have many friends in middle school. I spent the first year with nobody. The second year someone approached me and more or less dragged me in the world of people and friends (once again, I met an amazing person that was just selflessly nice to me). She got me speaking to people and I met my friends through her. My best friend from elementary had abandoned me in a matter of days after we started middle school so I felt very awkward in all situations. Anyway, I had a few people I hung out with but that was about it. I wasn’t exactly the bestest of friends with them but they accepted me even if I was awkward and didn’t talk much. They all knew each other for a while and were much closer (and popular), so when PE would come around I didn’t have anyone to pair up with. SO, my teacher instead of turning a blind eye offered to help me with the volley practice (this was in quatrième (before last year of middle school) if I remember right ? but it must not have been before I learned about haikyuu). He took the time to make me practice everything and explain everything and honestly I think that helped a lot with my general technique cause otherwise there’s a lot I would not have understood or just learned wrong and would have to readjust when I got to high school.
Back to last year of middle school. My mind has been overtaken by Haikyuu cause it’s brilliant. I dabble in cosplay and I have no money I can use to buy an aliexpress one (yes the dreaded website but we would go there at the time haha) but I want to cosplay Haikyuu. Lucky me, I have found a group of cosplayer on Paris for the next Paris Manga that’s doing Haikyuu ! I was so pumped up. And they didn’t have my character but they did have his partner so we were all excited about it :) My parents were not very thrilled about it all because I was still just 14 and they were mostly adults but my mom still helped me make my own jersey! I still have it but I’m 100% sure it doesn’t fit anymore :’) Here is me starting to fall for the sport and the cosplay progress pictures I still have
(still so proud of it, I did everything by hand !! and last pic is me with a volley ball cause I was a little deranged already)
Yes I was Akaashi, I loved that character. Acting all polite but an overthinker much with a dash of mischievous and admiration for the people around him. Also nothing grand about him like so many of the characters, but he could still hold up with them. I think I have somewhere on my computer a picture of our group but first I don’t know where it is and second you can only see my face on it so I have no picture of my finished cosplay haha. The con was amazing, I had so much fun with these people, we started hanging out a little more often and going to all the anime cons around Paris as a group and we did more group cosplays. I loved it. However at this con I lost my phone and it was in February so when I needed my dad to come pick me up I had to wait for 45 minutes in short shorts and a thin jersey :’)
After that I kept enjoying Haikyuu as one does, and high school started. Oh high school, a lot happened there. First thing I did was being reborn ! And even though it wasn’t much and only social it helped me be a little more free already. Free enough to allow myself to pursue a certain sport I was looking forward to. Yeah I got the volleyball bug. I was so happy my high school had a volleyball “club” and the first day of it we were only two. It was me and another guy, even smaller than me, who had also loved Haikyuu but we didn’t talk much about it. He was just as fired up about it as I was and we really pushed each other to become better. I don’t know what he’s become now but I hope he kept playing volleyball.
Anyway we were off to a great start with…two players. But still our coach/PE teacher was kind enough to teach us. We managed to have a few more people to come now and then but it was rough the first year. In my three years (well two but that’ll come later) we never had 6 “full time” people in the club so any kind of competition, even to get completely massacred by the other teams, was out of the question sadly. We would play on a concrete court ! It was REALLY rough haha ! But these courts were situated in a sort of closed courtyard space that was surrounded by school buildings and on the top floor were the Prepa classes (preparatory classes to get in higher education schools like engineering private schools for anyone not French reading this). Unlike the rest of my classmates, they liked playing volleyball. They were soooo tall compared to us but they would play with us and teach us some stuff and they were really good compared to us. Thanks to them we got the actual practice we needed cause you can’t learn enough by just playing 3x3 or worse 2x2 with people who can barely keep the ball in play (I was one of these people, I get to trash talk past me).
In my first year of high school I was taking riding lessons at the military school since we wouldn’t be able to go to our family’s house village with the more apparent divorce and moving out and other difficulties. It was an experience and I don’t regret doing it but it wasn’t a great place. I stopped the next year. And then…then I have memory problems. I cannot remember if it was during my second or last year of high school that I did it, but I would say it was during my second year of high school, that I entered an outside volleyball club. It was a Sunday lesson, it was all adults and it was for beginners. We would mostly do matches but sometimes they would focus on serves or hitting (I only remember one lesson about it though lol). It was super cool, I got to play volleyball on the Wednesday with my school club, whenever at lunch break when the Prepa were playing, and the Sundays at my outside club. By then, I don’t think I was reading or watching much of Haikyuu. I think I might have gotten my adhd ass hooked on something else while waiting for the next season and I had fallen in love with volleyball for the playing not just Haikyuu by then. Also something that I’m working on (and I’ve noticed it has gotten better already) is that I have a hard time appreciating watching people do something I love (usually a sport) as much as I appreciate doing the sport. For example, I never enjoyed watching any horse jumping competition even though I love doing it. I think it might come from the fact that I am bad at the things I love and therefore cannot truly appreciate what’s going on. As of right now I watch volleyball matches and rallies and really enjoy it.
Last year of high school rolls around the corner and…our PE teacher/coach tells us that they are closing the club down cause we aren’t enough and she would rather not run from our practice to the badminton’s practice (that she also coaches) and only work with the badminton’s club. After all they had the regional and potential national champions there meanwhile we had no hope of ever participating in a competition. And I had learned at my last lesson at my outside club that since we weren’t enough coming to the practice they would close down their beginner lesson. It was a bit of a shock to go from two practice per week to none at all. I missed volleyball. I accepted to participate at the badminton’s practices (cause it’s also a sport I like but at leisure, not on a competitive level, and less than volleyball) but it was just to keep me doing something. What happened though is I got to choose which sports I wanted for my BAC (high school diploma) since I was in a club the year prior and I chose the one with volleyball and I aced that. I only resented the top players of our group a little cause it wasn’t their sport at all but since they were pretty athletic and good at sports in general they had no problem being good at it when it took me sooooo long :’) yes I am petty.
Then I don’t know what the heck happened. Well yes I know but I don’t know why when I arrived in Montreal in my school I didn’t try to get into the volleyball club. Anyway, I didn’t play for a whiiiiile, years ! And the only reason I did again was because my best friend’s parents ( @nyaoi-warrior ) invited me to play with them and their friends when I visited. I was bad at communicating when I was playing in France (I often forget to say “j’ai”) but this was in Czech Rep, and we couldn’t communicate in English. It was HARD but I had so much fun !! My team lost all of the sets but it was so cool :D
Recently I was looking for something in my old stuff in the basement of the building. I didn’t find it but what I did find were my old Haikyuu manga. And oh god the flame it awoken in me. So anyway here is me a few weeks later with a volley ball in my hands, I’ve found a place I can sneak in just for the end of the year and I’ve been looking at clubs I can enter (and hopefully get better and then do some competition).
Now more about Haikyuu. What an amazing sports manga/anime it is. Of course, with the protagonist being a spiker most people when they start volleyball because of Haikyuu want to spike. I was lucky enough to be in the tall half of my year in high school but now I am tiny compared to most volleyball players. And a thing I love in volleyball I quickly discovered is diving for the ball. I’d be running far back or on the side, sliding until my knees burn to keep that ball in play. I thank Haikyuu for giving each role a time in the spotlight in almost every game they play, cause with what we learned in my school club or outside club I would never have heard of the libero. Ofc when you play for leisure having a libero is a bit meh but now I know that if I ever want to play competitive this is the role I should gun for (or maybe setter but I’m still pretty small so idk).
I just finished watching the season 4 recently and I’m on my way to catch up, and then finish with the scans (and then buying the mangas too). I got spoiled about what happens at the nationals after season 4 and what happens after, the time skip etc but just in the grand lines and I’m fine with that. I don’t think that it takes away from it too much. And (IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER/DURING TIME SKIP DON’T READ BUT ALSO WE WON’T HAVE A FULL TIME SKIP ANIMATED SO IF YOU’RE JUST WATCHING THE ANIME I’D SAY MIGHT AS WELL READ IT BUT ALSO IT’S EVERYWHERE SO YOU MIGHT KNOW IT ALREADY) I freaking love Hinata in Brazil. It’s very funny to me too cause here is this little dude who got me into volleyball, with whom I had an anime-level betrayal and tragedy with my clubs, and now I’m learning Portuguese because of my Brazilian friends and I wanna go to Brazil and HE WENT TOO ?? That was hilarious to me. Maybe I should look into beach volleyball hehehe.
About the ships; I started with the “basic” ones, the most obvious ones that come from the strong bonds and non-stop interactions and how they are shown as more or less pairs by the manga/anime (so kagehina, asanoya, daisuga, bokuaka, etc etc etc) but I am a multi shipper now. I don’t know I have a much more relaxed approach to shipping now, especially for big casts where there isn’t clear cut villains, same with one piece. They all have great relationships with everyone around them and I like many of them. And yeah I stumbled upon kenhina recently and I really like their dynamic. I love kagehina just as much, and also the hilarious way Hinata seems to fascinate all setters. I have seen some really funny tsukkihina fanarts too. I’ve put a lot of stuff in my queue so you got some yakunoya coming soon as well haha. Also from what I’ve heard (haven’t got to see it yet) (yes the premiere was Sunday and it’s only out today) that the movie has big kenhina energy so I’m here for it.
This little red-head guy just makes me so happy. I’m so glad I got to discover one of, if not my favourite sport out there (and that says a lot coming from a horsegirl) and I want to keep it in my life. I’m asking around for clubs and selections and I hope I am accepted. And I’ll be celebrating my birthday watching Olympic volleyball matches :D
OH ! Another thing. During my intensive studying period for my current school’s diploma, I was with friends and before we started studying each morning we would put on music or some kind of stuff, and we put anime opening blind tests and one of them had the first Haikyuu opening (which is still my favourite cause yk…it’s the one that started it all) and I was hit with a wall of memories…yeah :’)
I think that’s all I might have forgotten a few things, I don’t know at this point.
I can’t believe you got me writing more about volleyball, in English, in 2 hrs than I’ve written for my THESIS in a WEEK. This is 5 word pages WITHOUT THE PICTURES.
#asks#long post#sae#that was so much fun to write down but then again I love talking about volleyball#I'm so glad you're rewatching it !! I sometimes get a little scared when I go back into a fandom and drown the dash with it#but everyone has been so nice with it hahaha#I hate past me for never really getting into sports and now I have to do all the work to get my body in good shape for volleyball#ffs past Leska what the fuck#then again I know that there's a lot of things I couldn't do back then because of either family life or me trying to understand and live#my identity and yeah no playing volleyball with a binder is the worst idea possible i do not recommend but now I can play freely#i'm crazy enough that I'll believe in the possibility of going pro one day but at the end of the day I just wanna play volleyball :3#thank you so much haikyuu and thank you so much furudate you reached your goal : you got people into volleyball#I hope i answered what you wanted me to and I didn't just take a totally different route D:#anyway I hope people don't mind the onslaught of haikyuu fanarts I reblog I try to put them in the queue so they're not there all at once :

I was at Fan Expo Chicago! It was so cool getting to meet so many people I look up to! They were all so sweet talking to them was so much fun!
I made these for the Hazbin gang and Matthew. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to give Matthew his, but I’ll save them for if I get the chance to see him again! The Hazbin gang seemed to like the eggs, so I’m super happy ^^
First pic is of Bill on the ride there lol. All of the cosplayers were super nice! If this is any of you, sound off in the comments! There were so many more cosplayers I wanted to get pictures with, but didn’t have the time to or we only saw one another passing by. Everyone looked amazing!
Hazbin Hotel panel! These guys are so silly and we’re having a lot of fun with the couch lol.
I ran out of room so this is post 1/2!

did u have fun at the con?
It was a very small convention so there wasnt much to do or buy but it was cute! I bonded more with an acquaintance, saw some nice cosplays, i just wish the merch wasnt targeted only towards dudebro anime fans and/or genshin players but like. Thats conventions for you, im used to it (i still prefer the last animecon i went to in summer because it had more variety. To this day thats the most enstars and hypmic merch i ever saw at a con actually). There were also many Jesus cosplayers Lmao.
I didnt Not have fun, yknow? But im not sure if i'd go again to this one in particular.

convention prompts!
went to a con for the first time so here are some prompts based on my experience big dubs!
cash is fucking king, sometimes the card readers vendors have fuck up and y'know taxes. one VA had their machine break and I saw several people dash out of line to get to the nearest atm. speeeddddd hope they found it
sometimes you see the expected cosplays, mha, genshin, the Mario brothers. sometimes you're absolutely delighted by the sight of a mermaid man and barnacle boy cosplay. give me the story of the duo that caught the eye of many that afternoon. their dynamic.
wandering around the art vendors and seeing all the posters and just kind of browsing. then later circling back and shit that's the anime i wanted a poster from. sjfjfjfj buy take my money. and it was the last one too I think so good. (it was an ouran high school host club poster by sei chan! they have a webtoon called catz vs. dogz, their stuff was SO cute) I also saw a catboyified Loki.
the kink vendor with cat paw paddles!! they looked so nice, unfortunately not my thing but damn if your character is bold enough. They also had cute cat ears!!
going in a group is fun, we walked around for ages just chatting and looking around. we got so much stuff. I got some earrings and a pin and a poster like akdkskd. it's nice. your characters deserve a nice fun day too where they later mildly regret spending too much money.
love when random cosplayers from the same fandom get together for a group photo. And how a group photo attracts other cosplayers from different fandoms to join in. saw a bunch of genshin characters take photos with neo (matrix), ghost (call of duty), and kirishima I think? (mha) was so cute. person taking photos was like "smile!" "alright now be cool" "now fight each other" it was really sweet
nah I bumped into a kakashi cosplayer and nearly died. they looked really cool guys. I was only a little flustered. obviously don't do this in real life but meet cute idea?
saw a lot of cool cosplays especially during the contest and just, a character that likes cosplay?? especially if they have to make a bunch of stuff. saw a cool spring trap and halo cosplay. I think the kirishima one was said to be made out of stuff that person recycled which is awesome.
fake swords and guns from different fandoms!! a lot of them looked pretty cool. some of the plastic swords didn't look the best haha but they were recognizable. definitely good enough if you wanna cosplay a certain character later. so tempted to get one just to bonk one of my other friends (safely of course) or to look cool. swords are cool man. which character of yours is a big sword enthusiast??? get them a sword. some enrichment man.
hear me out, cinderella/masquerade au, but it's because one person was in cosplay. HEAR ME OUT it'd be cool. the ball? no ball, they met while waiting in line for an autograph/poster.

Hi !! How are you these days? Recently I went to a convention and OMG I was so shook by the amount of Kaveh. Like on the first day there were so many Kaveh cosplayers I was absolutely tweaking 😭 Sadly I wasn’t able to get a bunch of pics with them cos I was too scared ahahah but on the second day of con I was able to approach a Kaveh cosplayer to take a pic with her (she complimented my outfit, I was very happy hehe) 🙏🏻
Though I noted that over the course of the con weekend the amount of Kaveh cosplayers decreased exponentially hahaha (Scara cosplayers were consistently aplenty though :0). And I also noted that interestingly most (if not all) of the Kaveh cosplayers were women ! I discussed this with other people and they mentioned that well, Kaveh fanbase is mostly women. So it made me wonder, what is it about Kaveh that appeals mostly to women? 🤔
Also OMG the merch, I think I legit spent like over $100 for this man. I was very satisfied that there was a nice amount of solo stuff of him. Ofc there was shippy stuff but it was EZ to avoid. The vast amount of Kaveh stuff I saw was just straight up Kaveh!! I was really glad. I hope that there will still be lots of Kaveh at conventions for years to come 🫡
- 🍓 (is it OK with you if I use one of those emoji signatures as identification in future asks? 🫣)
Hi 🍓 anon! I’ve been doing well. Had a lot of huge changes happen in my life over the past couple of days (good ones). I finally got a car and can drive myself to work. I also moved to a new apartment, so I’m in the process of unpacking. Sounds like you had an eventful weekend, too!
Good job on being brave and approaching that Kaveh cosplayer! I know how nerve wracking it can be to talk to strangers, but it sounds like that encounter went really well! I bet the Kaveh cosplayer was happy that you wanted to take pics with her :)
As for why Kaveh is more popular with women, I can only think that it’s because pretty men are attractive to women. For example, in Asian countries like Korea and Japan, pretty-looking men (think pop idols or anime characters) are popular with women. Something about their smooth features and slender physiques is attractive to women. Kaveh fits the bill for such a bishounen, so it’s not surprising majority of his fan base consists of women.
As for why women like these traits… I have no idea 😅 I have noticed from cosplay pictures that women tend to cosplay more frequently than men, interestingly enough.
It’s great that there was a lot of solo Kaveh merch ☺️ I’m curious to know what you bought. Posters? Keychains? Something else? 🤔 And wow, $100+ for merch is a lot! I’m not sure how much merch usually costs at cons, but it sounds like you splurged quite a bit for him haha. I’m imagining you building a little Kaveh shrine at home.
Thank you for sharing your con experience with me! It seems like you enjoyed yourself, which is great. It was also fun reading about your time there. I’ve never been to a con, so your recounting is my little glimpse into that world.
And if you want to sign off with the 🍓 emoji, then please do! I would definitely appreciate it because this makes it a lot easier for me to differentiate between anons. Sometimes writing style isn’t enough 😣

sooo it’s been a couple of days since I went to Miku Expo and like… I think I’m still reeling from the fact that I actually went since I’ve been listening to vocal synth music since my childhood and I never expected that I’d actually be able to go to one of these concerts?
some thoughts and highlights under the cut!
the show I went to was sold out (in D.C.) and I stood in line + waited for like, 6 or 7 hours? but I had so much fun that it was worth it!
I helped some people put film inside their penlights, and it was nice chatting with them while we were waiting!
some groups of elderly people who were hanging out in the area were confused about what was going on and after asking some concert-goers to explain they started laughing LMAO (some puzzled passerby’s asked me too and I just said “oh it’s a J-pop concert!” because I didn’t want to go into what Vocaloid was in full detail haha)
there were so many cute cosplays there; I saw a lot of people in Miku’s Vampire outfit and was surprised to also see an Oliver cosplayer, there were also some dressed as Project Sekai characters too!
before the show, every time someone in the audience held up a Miku plush, everyone around them would cheer and hold up their penlights
some people also brought Miku plushes that were bald and whenever they held up those, everyone would shout “BALD, BALD, BALD!” (and I heard someone say “MY EYES!!!”)
the songs the crowd were the loudest for were Miku, Vampire, and World is Mine (it was… so loud during World is Mine LOL)
Kaito fans were being Kaito fans when he did his solo (ILY Kaito fans you’re so iconic) and there was also a notable amount of hype when Luka’s solo finally happened since it took until halfway through the show to get to her
I know the setlist was quite controversial when it was released online but I honestly liked hearing it in person, I feel like the band really elevated the experience (kudos to them!), I really liked how they played for Literacy and Hyper Reality Show in particular
and maybe a hot take but the screen wasn’t… that bad to me? but that was also because I was in the very front and the venue put lights around the stage as well, so I may be biased
#ness yells#and like#my positive experience with the concert doesn’t erase all of the controversies that happened along the way#I’m aware that people were heavily dissatisfied with the merch sales#and lack of communication#I personally got my merch online and without issue. and generally kept an optimistic outlook since this was something I’ve always wanted to#go to! especially after there being no NA concerts for years#I definitely think a lot of things could’ve been handled better though. so don’t just assume that I’m like#‘wow this must’ve been a perfect experience for everyone involved!’#bc I’m not ignorant to the backlash. I read it all dw 😭#but I just wanted to share some nice memories I made#if you even care LOL#ough and also like#this is making me really want to make more miku fanart omg 😭#IT WILL HAPPEN I PROMISE I HAVE PLANS TO!!!#I love vocaloid and vocal synths sm it’s like 90% of the music I listen to

hihi quinn!!! did you have fun at the con?
HI AXELLL!! I did I did :3 I was at fanexpo this Saturday
Admittedly I kinda wasn’t as Into It as the past few years (it was hot in the center and our group kept splitting up) and I was really bummed about my yukari cosplay not arriving but I still had so much fun!! I saw a lot of cool cosplayers (didn’t get many pics but was jazzed about the soul eater group i saw, saw aba with a real nice paracelsus prop, an extraordinarily well-done pomni tadc, to name a few)
i was hoping reload would mean id find more p3 stuff in artist alley this year but i only found one person selling anything (admittedly a really good thing though! a double-sided charm with both protags and the whole main cast :]) which was a bit of a bummer. but honestly? for the best for my wallet !! I got out of this con with maybe the smallest haul ive ever had (I spent like under $50!!)
i didn’t end up meeting or signing with anyone but charles martinet and roger craig smith were there which was really dope!! don bluth too (right next to bitch fartman who had an empty line compared to bluth at the time we walked through which made me chuckle)
it was a good time!!! if all works out ill hopefully have yukari all set for next year. maybe someone who’s actually voiced in reload will be there this time 😭

Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don't reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here's to many more years spent together.
tagging: you
---
Name: Rosie
Pronouns: she/her
Birthday (no year): March 24
Where are you from? What is your time zone? Nebraska, CST
Roleplay experience: since 2009
Got any pets? Freya and Bast the naughtiest kitties in the universe
Favorite time of year: Fall
Some interests and things you like: sewing, thinking way too much about clothes
Some funfacts & trivia about you: - I wrote my undergrad thesis on the progression fashion of the 20th c, but I am terrible about keeping up on modern fashion
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? L E G E N D O F Z E L D A.... I love Majora's Mask... Hero of Time my beloved baby boy..... I also love Okami so much. I'm a sucker for fairy tales and mythology.
Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: I'm actually not a big pokemon person! I started with Y. Ghosts and Psychic are my faves, particularly Mimikyu, Meowstic, and Hoopa. Gengar is also shaped like a friend :)
How did you get into Fire Emblem? I had been interested in the series since the GBA days but it wasn't until I got my 3ds and awakening that I got the chance to play a game.
What Fire Emblem games have you played? Awakening, Conquest & Birthright, 3H, Shadows of Valentia
First Fire Emblem game: Awakening
Favorite Fire Emblem game: Fates or 3H
Any Fire Emblem crushes? Oh my God Niles hi tee-hee... Tho Seteth damage art did get me into playing feh... And uh... My husband does look like Xander ...and his name is.... Alexander........🥴 I've posted my questionable taste in fe characters you can find it in the chat if you search
If you’ve played the following games, who was your first S support? - Awakening: Chrom- Fates: oh good God idr.... Kaze? I know I did Niles in one run... Did I do Stahl in Birthright? Kaze in conquest and Stahl in Birthright sounds right- Three Houses: Dimitri - Engage: haven't played engage. Place your bets for fun
Favorite Fire Emblem class: I like the magic classes! Healing and attacking! Tho Camilla's malig knight does have a special place in my heart 💜
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class? Dark magic user...I do not escape the goth aesthetic.... Unfortunately I am too much of a noodle to be a malig knight 😞
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? Fear the Deer!!! (Side note, bless my luck bc when I ordered a leftover bundle from fodlans fables I got the deer. A cosplayer I look up to also offered me her deer pin from the fe3h preorder bonus which had me 🥹)
If you were an Engage character, which Emblem would you Engage with? I don't know what this means but I copied this from Erica and her answer was funny.
How did you find TOA? I track the Marianne tag on Tumblr and saw the previous Marianne drop. The old shit post emblem group I was in was falling apart and I thought it would be nice to join a new one.
Current TOA muses: Marianne, Camilla, Triandra
Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Marianne my cursed little blue bird 💙 I've thought about dropping her, thinking that maybe someone else would do a better job, but I just can't let her go.
Have you had any other TOA muses? Other than cami and Tria nope
Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? Um??? I don't know? I got told that Tria was a Rosie muse when I reserved her so I guess y'all know better than me lol
What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I like writing horror and setting the scene :) my favorite part about combat events is describing the creatures we're facing from my characters pov
Favorite TOA-related memory: What Kent told Mari in her first lore event about the importance of healers have lived rent free in my memory since it happened. Also Griss trying to blow himself up in the arena and despite his best efforts not succeeding.
Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day in TOA that you’d like to share? Charlotte is one I've thought about and is the one most likely to send Triandra packing....there are an awful lot of men at the academy who would do a great job taking care of her and her family 😏
#dash games#This was fun!!! I can't wait to get home and read everyone's responses#I love seeing all the muses y'all have written in the past#And I like seeing what others like to write bc it makes it easier for me to approach you for threads
