Hiiii!!!!
Okay I’ve kinda had this story playing in my mind for a while but we’ve got older sister Henderson who comes back to Hawkins high school for her final year (she was at another school for whatever reason) and she has to pick up Dustin from hellfire. She’s got a stutter and maybe tries to talk to Eddie about dnd because she’s got a crush on him but he thinks she’s pretending or mocking him in some way cause of the stutter (maybe he thinks she’s trying to sound geeky). She gets really upset and goes mute for a while at home and at school and Dustin knows she’s sad but doesn’t know it’s Eddie that made her feel that way. Maybe Dustin invites Eddie over and Eddie is prepared to be mean but Dustin says like “oh she hasn’t talked since someone made fun of her stutter” and Eddie realizes he messed up and she wasn’t lying…. It’s a lot 😅
I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it. First fic back after like 2 weeks! Hopefully I'm not rusty. Thank you for requesting 🫶🏻
Stutter
It had been a few years since Y/N Henderson was in Hawkins, but now she had to head back for senior year. Even though she was away, Dustin kept her caught up with everything, including his cute new best friend Eddie Munson.
Y/N grew a slight crush on the stranger through photos and stories that Dustin shared. She felt nervous to see him in person because of her stutter. She didn't have the best control over it when she was nervous, it got the best of her and caused insecurity.
She took a deep breath as she got out of her car. She gave herself a small pep talk as she entered the school. She hadn't been in it for years but barely anything changed. She smoothed down her jeans, giving her outfit one last look in her reflection in the windows. She had no shame in trying to look her best because she knew there was a big chance she would see Eddie.
She made it to the door Dustin directed her to. She knocked on it softly and heard the voices on the inside go silent.
She backed up when the door swung open, and there he was.
Eddie had his hair down, the only way she ever saw it. His eyes were gorgeous in person, so much brighter than the pictures.
"Hi" she breathed, a smile on her face
Eddie shut the door behind him. A suspicious look on his face. He crossed his arms, trying to threaten her but she found it attractive.
"Can I help you?" he asked
"Dustin's sister, Y/N," she said, smiling as she felt proud of herself for not stuttering once. She tried to stay in control of her tongue.
"You are a Henderson?" He asked, she felt her skin burn when he stepped back and looked at her up and down. "Seem too cute to be related to him"
And just like that, it switched
She got so nervous her mind went blank. She couldn't practice the sentence beforehand as he waited for her to speak.
"Dung..eo..eons...and ddddr...ag...on...ons, do yyyou en...jjjjoy plaaa....y..ing...th..a...a..t?"
She wanted to smack herself for how stuttered her sentence was. She felt her body shut down when his eyes snapped into slits like he was glaring at her. She fiddled with her fingers nervously.
"Wouldn't be the master if I didn't." He scoffed, his tone much ruder than before. "If you plan to just stutter and mock me, don't bother talking to me. I'll get Dustin." He snapped, then he opened the door and slammed it.
The wind from the hard slam smacked her in the face. She quickly bit down on her lip to make sure she didn't cry. He sounded much nicer and sweet in Dustin's stories.
The door opened again and Dustin came out with a smile. Immediately talking he told her all about the campaign. She listened quietly as they made their way home. She was stuck in her head and pity. And it hurt to admit just how much Eddie's words hurt her.
~~~
She respected what Eddie said, making sure anytime she ran into him at school she didn't say a word. She didn't say a word to really anyone. She knew her stutter could be annoying and she didn't want to give anyone else a reason to shut her out.
Dustin didn't question her about her silence. She just got back and probably needed time to adjust to everything again. He figured maybe she was overwhelmed. Until he overheard her talking with their mom about someone saying something about her stutter and now she didn't feel comfortable speaking. Dustin's heart hurt for her but he didn't want to invade her privacy.
Y/N never said who so Dustin had no idea the person in the story was Eddie. As a result, Dustin didn't think twice about inviting Eddie to dinner after a long campaign.
"Your sister here?" Eddie asked as Dustin unlocked the door.
"Yeah," Dustin said, taking off his shoes. Eddie followed his movements, slipping out of his dirty sneakers. Eddie cracked his neck, already planning comebacks in his head if she tried something again.
He looked up as Y/N came into view, she offered a small smile and passed her way into the kitchen.
"Don't mind her quietness. She's got this stutter and some asshole made a comment about it so now she's silent. Don't take it personally, once she's warmed up to you she will talk." Dustin said with a smile
Eddie felt his stomach drop as the kid walked into the kitchen. She had a stutter? She didn't purposely stutter in front of Eddie to make him feel like he was being made fun of? Instead, he made fun of her for something she couldn't control. He hung his head in shame as he felt like a true asshole.
He walked into the kitchen, and sat in the familiar seat he sat in every time he was over. He felt uncomfortable when he realized his seat was directly across from hers.
She smiled again, then looked down at her plate.
Eddie coughed and dug into his plate. Dustin and his mom got into a conversation as he kept looking up at Y/N. He hated that he made her silent in her own home.
"So dear, how has the first week back been? Feeling better after that situation?" Mrs. Henderson asked, her attention on Y/N.
Y/N shrunk down in her chair, her eyes avoiding Eddie's at all costs.
"I..I...I'm tttt...trying to practice with my ttt....tapes again." Y/N stuttered out, giving her mom a soft smile before she went back to her plate.
"Good girl," Mrs. Henderson said as she softly touched her hand
Eddie lost his appetite as his stomach twisted with guilt.
The rest of dinner was mostly Dustin talking but that was a relief to everyone at the table.
Everyone was excused and Dustin prepared for bed. Eddie prepared to leave but he knew he needed to apologize. He nervously walked to her bedroom, her name written on the outside in glitter.
He knocked and waited for it to open
She opened the door and was surprised to see Eddie. She stayed silent as she waited for him to speak.
"About last week, you deserve an apology. I'm sorry for being a total dick and treating you like that. I made a horrible first impression, but I'm used to people making fun of me and I thought you were too." Eddie explained
He watched as she took a big breath and opened her mouth
"Ittttt's okkkkay" she stuttered, Eddie smiled as he tried to make her feel comfortable
"Thank you for saying that. Maybe we can start over? Over dinner sometime?" He asked, that flirty tone was back and it made her heart race.
"Yes," she said with a smile, "one thing"
Eddie watched as she walked to her desk and grabbed a pen. She softly grabbed his hand, his heart racing as she wrote on his palm
She clicked the pen, smiled, and softly shut her door.
Eddie smiled to himself as he looked down at his palm, her name and number in black ink.
smoke and mirrors - chris sturniolo
chapter six part one
summary: your best friend Matt backs out of plans you had made together, so you replace him with his brother. the only problem is the two of you can’t stand each other.
{enemies to lovers, fake dating}
includes : explicit language, fluff, smut(penetration, oral, fingering, etc.), angst if you squint, lots of bickering, slow burn
wc: 3.5k
The night had barely begun and you were already sick of saying the words ‘This is Chris, my boyfriend.’
Not only was it a lie, but it made you want to throw up in your mouth to speak that into the universe. However, despite how gross saying it made you feel, Chris might’ve been the nicest boyfriend you’ve ever had. He kept a hand rested on your waist or your back as you guys spoke to people, he held your hand to guide you through crowds of people, he would even tuck little strands of hair that had fallen into your face behind your ear, shooting you a smile as he did so.
It genuinely terrified you how good he was at lying like this, to the point where it made you wonder if he actually had feelings for you, but you knew that wasn’t true and he was just an incredible liar.
Finally, you guys are able to relax for a moment and sit down, drinks placed in front of you. “God, I need like six more of these right now.” You tell him, sipping your drink until it’s just the sound of the straw sucking up air.
“Holy shit, slow down, we still have to get home,” Chris laughs, but does the same with his own drink, setting the empty glass back down on the table.
You shrug and wave your hand dismissively towards Chris. “We can just uber if anything.”
Chris’s eyes widen at your suggestion. “We are way too far to uber! That’ll be like a hundred dollar ride, no way!”
You groan, throwing your head back dramatically. “I need to get drunk,” you drawl, pulling your head back up to look at Chris. “I’m getting another drink, we’ll figure out getting home later.”
You stand up from your chair, but Chris grabs your hand and pulls you back down. “Stay here, I got it.”
You sit back down and laugh, staring up at the boy who stands up instead. “I’m a big girl, I could do it myself.”
“Listen, I know all your exes are bums, but my girlfriends don’t get their own drinks, so you hang out here,” Chris tells you before walking away towards the bar.
You scoff and settle back into your seat, humming to yourself and looking around the room at all the people dancing and having fun, making you wish you had a real boyfriend to spend the night with. Someone who would actually enjoy being with you and meeting your family. But here you were, stuck with someone who couldn’t even stand to be around you in the real world.
You’re not alone with your own thoughts for too long before your sister sits down next to you with a big smile, her own drink in hand. “Hey!” She says happily.
You smile up at her, knowing she’s probably at least a little buzzed by now. “Hey,” you reply.
She leans in close to you and nudges your shoulder, eyebrows waggling as well. “So,” she drags the word out. “Chris is really cute. Where’d you find him?”
You laugh at her, shaking your head slightly. “Remember the boys I was friends with in high school? Matt and Nick?” You ask her, and she nods, taking another sip of her drink. “Well they’re still my best friends and he’s their brother. We… we used to not get along very well but, turned out he just had a big fat crush on me.”
Your sister gasps in realization. “I knew he looked familiar!” She screeches, and it’s at that moment that Chris comes back, sitting next to you and placing your drink on the table.
“Who, me?” He asks with a laugh, leaning forward slightly to peer at your sister around you.
“Yes!” She says, even louder this time. She was definitely feeling the alcohol. “I remember your brothers always causing a ruckus in my house. Our mom never knew how to handle them because she only had girls, but you were never around, huh?”
Chris shakes his head. “Nah, we didn’t get along in high school.” He confirms.
You turn your head and smirk at Chris. “Yeah, I told her you treated me like shit because you had a big, fat, disgusting crush on me.”
Chris smirks back at you and slaps his hand back on the inside of your thigh, way higher than you were expecting him to. It causes you to jump and the smirk falls right off your face as you stare back at him still. “Yeah? Did you tell her about your big, fat, disgusting crush on me or you just trying make me look like a huge simp?”
You clear your throat and force a smile back onto your face, turning back to your sister. “I guess I kinda liked him, too.”
Your sister laughs and stands up from her chair, making sure she takes her drink with her. “Well, it’s lovely to finally get to know you, Chris. I hope I see you around a lot more.”
“Oh, you will,” Chris smiles up at her.
You turn to him once she’s gone and smack his arm. “Why would you say that when you know I’m breaking up with you tonight?”
Chris laughs and grabs his drink, taking a large sip. “Just to fuck with you. Now you have to deal with telling them your perfect boyfriend is no more.”
You couldn’t lie to yourself, you were having a really fun time, even if you were accompanied by Chris. The way he was treating you was almost comforting, as odd as that was. It was nice to know that somebody was always nearby, and they were there for you and you alone. His hand holding you close, the way he smiled down at you while you guys talked with friends or family, or even now how he grabbed your drink and you didn’t even have to go anywhere. It felt so cruel that all of this was fake and you didn’t actually have someone to dote on you like this. But it’s okay, you figure, at least you can enjoy it for tonight.
You ignore his last comment and grab his hand off of your thigh, entwining your fingers together. “Come on, come dance with me.” You tell Chris, standing up and staring down at him. He shakes his head quickly, and almost nervously.
“Oh, definitely not. I do not dance. Find someone else to dance with,” he tells you sternly, staying planted in his chair.
You yank on his arm, letting him know you’re not backing down. “I can’t ask anyone else, you’re my boyfriend.” You smirk. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Just stand on the dance floor and like… bounce. Get a couple more drinks in you and you’ll feel great.”
And that’s exactly what you and Chris both did, and now that you were both about five or six mixed drinks in, you were nowhere near sober and not complaining. Chris had decided to join you on the dance floor, but he stayed still for the most part, just watching you dance and enjoy yourself.
“I think we’re definitely going to have to uber back!” You yell at Chris, a little louder than necessary, to which he just laughs and nods in agreement, finding your drunken state kind of funny. He’s never seen you drunk before, and you’ve definitely never seen him drunk.
The loud pop song that’s playing comes to an end and is followed up by a slow, steady song, clearly made for dancing. “Oh no,” Chris says, reaching forward to grab your arm to pull you away from the dance floor. “Definitely not, I am not slow dancing with you. Line drawn.”
You pout and plant for feet in the floor, not wanting to move. “Chris…” you whine, and he raises a brow at you. “Just one dance? Y’know, for show.”
Chris groans, knowing that he probably should dance with you, but he definitely does not want to. Despite that, he walks closer to you again and rests his hands on your waist, your arms instinctively going around his neck. He lets out a long sigh and looks around at the other couples dancing, seeing how happy all of them look and how out of place he himself felt. He was having an alright time, he couldn’t deny that, but he also wished maybe he had a real girlfriend to do real boyfriend things with, but he was so picky with his women and knew it would take him a while to find someone he could actually fully fall for. Someone beautiful and smart, someone independent but still willing to rely on her boyfriend, someone confident but not cocky. Someone like-
“Hey,” you whisper, pulling him out of his thoughts. He looks down at you and meets your eyes where you’re staring up at him.
“What’s up,” he responds, bluntly.
“Thanks for doing this,” you tell him, a small smile gracing your features. “I’m having a really good time and I think my family really likes you. I know it’s not real but… I really appreciate it.”
Chris takes in your words, listening intently. He decides to not be an asshole for once towards you and just smiles, nodding his head. “No problem. Thanks for helping me, too. She stopped texting me so I think our plan worked.”
You giggle in response. “Good, I’m glad. No reason for her to be so hung up on you anyway.”
Chris laughs, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, right. You haven’t even gotten to see what she’s hung up on yet.” He tells you.
Your smile dims a bit, and his words make you tilt your head in curiosity. “Yet?” You ask.
Chris just shrugs, not wanting to feel like he stumbled over his words, though he definitely did not mean to say that, and now he doesn’t quite know how to backpedal. “Never know where the night will take us.”
You pause, your feet stopping with you, your eyes just boring up into Chris’s. Maybe it was the closeness of your bodies, or maybe it was just all the alcohol, but you couldn’t help how good you thought he looked right now in the low light, how sexy he looked staring down at you, and how hot his hands felt as they roamed around your waist and back, pinky fingers barely ghosting over the top of your ass. The combination of all of it was too much, and you found yourself pushing away from Chris, clearing your throat. “I, um… I need some air.” You tell him before turning and heading for the entrance of the banquet hall, pushing the big doors open until you were outside, sucking in a deep breath.
Intrusive Chris thoughts, that’s all they were. You just had to get through it and figure out how to get home and away from him for the rest of the night.
You’re only out there for maybe three minutes when the door opens again and Chris walks out and towards you, hands stuffed awkwardly in his pockets. You turn your head and face him, but you’re not happy to see him at all. The one time you need space and of course he comes looking for you.
“Sorry if that joke was too far,” he apologizes, now standing directly in front of you.
You shake your head, breaking eye contact and looking at the ground. “Wasn’t. I just got hot,” you lie. “Needed to cool off.”
Chris nods, not fully believing you, but not wanting to fight you on it either. Another first. “Maybe we should start heading out. I can order us an uber.”
You bring your eyes back up to his and nod in agreement. “Yeah, that’ll be good.”
Chris stares down at you intensely, making no move to pull out his phone and call an uber, just staying completely still until you feel like your own skin is on fire and you want to rip it off. He’s never been this quiet in his life, and he surely has never willingly spent this much time staring at you.
“Chris…” you start, nervously, heart banging in your chest.
Chris takes in a deep breath, sounding almost shaky, pulling his hands out of his pockets before he speaks. “I think I drank too much,” he says quietly.
“What, why-?”
Your question is cut off by Chris’s lips slamming against yours, his right hand coming up to your jaw to hold you in place, left hand gripping at your waist like you were his lifeline.
You’re shocked at first, completely taken aback by the feeling of his lips on his, and your first instinct is to pull away, but in a split second decision you let your body relax into it, arms circling up around his neck once more, stepping the tiniest bit closer so your chests were pressed together.
One of your hands slid up into the back of Chris’s hair, holding him close as your lips slotted together damn near perfectly, and his left hand rested on your back, pulling you even closer if possible. Your heads were tilted for a more comfortable kiss, and you stayed like that for a few moments until he pulled away, breathing more labored than usual.
“I’m sorry,” he says, almost in a whisper. But your hands are still exploring each others’ bodies and your chests are still touching. You’re both quiet, apart from the heavy breathing, and you know one of you has to make a move here. But this next move will determine your relationship for the rest of your life, and you’re terrified to make the wrong choice. Do you pull away and tell him it’s fine, you know he didn’t mean it, he’s just drunk? Or do you give into the feelings, into the intrusive Chris thoughts, into the way he’s making your heart race right now?
It doesn’t take a lot of thought. You never really were too good at restraining yourself from the things you wanted.
“Don’t be,” you tell him, the most confident you’ve sounded the whole night, before you slam your lips together again, this time more roughly than before, both of your mouths opening to slide your tongues together.
It seemed like the world around you had completely disappeared, the only thing you’re able to focus on being the way his lips moved with yours, the way his hand splayed on your back pressed you closer to him, the way your fingers felt tangled in his hair. All you cared about was kissing him, and you didn’t even hate it. In fact, you loved it, and it didn’t even kill you to admit it.
You guys were kissing for what felt like forever when Chris pulled away, keeping your faces close together. His breathing was labored and your makeup was messed up and the only thing you two had on your mind was getting more of each other. “We should leave,” he starts. “Like now.”
You nod in agreement, then realize. “I can’t drive, Chris.” You remind him.
He swears under his breath before taking a look around at your surroundings, a large smile gracing his face as his eyes landed across the street. “There’s a hotel,” he pulls a hand away from you to point his finger to where he’s looking. Your eyes follow the path and land on the building he’s talking about, and you can’t help but be excited and terrified at the same time.
You gulp and bring your eyes back to Chris’s, his own head turning back to look at you. “Chris…” you start slowly and tentatively. “Do you realize what you’re implying here?”
Chris shakes his head. “I’m not implying anything,” he tells you, then leans down to press a kiss to your neck, slowly trailing his lips over your shoulder. “I’m telling you I want you. I need you.”
You let out a small breath and tilt your head, eyes fluttering shut. “Okay,” you reply. “Okay, let’s go.”
Chris plants one more kiss on your neck before he grabs your hand and starts walking away from the building you guys were in front of, a little too quickly for you to keep up with. “Chris!” You complain. “I’m in heels, slow down.”
Chris laughs and turns to look back at you. “I’m sorry, I’m eager.” He stops and lets you catch up before walking again, slower this time. “I just can’t wait to get my head between your legs.”
Your cheeks flush at his words, and you know you should yell at him or hit him or scold him since that’s what you two always did, but this time his words sent a shiver down your spine and what felt like all of your blood rushing between your legs. You almost wanted to close your legs shut in fear of him somehow sensing how wet you were becoming, but you decided to play it cool. And by cool, that meant you nearly tripped off of the curb and choked on your spit at the same time, not being able to process the feelings in your head and walk at the same time.
“Maybe, uh, keep your thoughts to yourself while I try to navigate walking in heels while drunk, yeah?” You suggest, looping your arm around his for a little more stability.
Chris agrees with a small chuckle, guiding you across the not so busy street and towards the hotel. “You’re okay with this?” He clarifies, to which you nod your head.
“Yeah, I’m okay with this. I’m drunk enough to find you hot and drinking rum always makes me horny,” you giggle.
Chris scoffs. “Please, you always find me hot, you’re just drunk enough to finally admit it.”
You turn your head and smile up at him. “Kinda hard not to when I think your brothers are so hot.”
Chris turns and meets your eyes, cringing. “Gross, dude, can you not talk about how hot you think my brothers are when I’m about to fuck you?”
You only giggle again, this time in excitement.
You both make it to the hotel and walk through the automatic doors, instantly smiling at the girl working the service desk. Chris goes up to her and starts the process for booking a room as you wander around the lobby, peeking in the vending machines and around all the corners, just thinking about how you had no idea this was how your night was going to end and how you weren’t even complaining. You were looking forward to it even. Your intrusive Chris thoughts were finally coming to light, and while that thought scared you, it excited you even more. You felt like a little kid snooping around in the middle of the night to find Christmas gifts. It was wrong, and you knew you shouldn’t do it, but you wanted nothing more than to do it.
You did feel slightly bad for leaving so abruptly, not even saying bye to anybody on your way out, more so because you had assumed you’d be going back inside, but you really couldn’t feel too bad about it when you were this intoxicated and excited for what was to come.
Chris came back to you and laid a hand flat on the small of your back, pulling you out of your thoughts and back to your senses. “Come on,” he said quietly, leading you to the elevator.
Since it was late and most people would be sleeping right now, you weren’t surprised to see the elevator empty when it opened. You guys shuffled into it and he pressed the button for it, immediately turning to you when the doors closed.
“You look so fucking good in that dress,” he compliments, placing both hands on your hips as he presses you up against the wall. He leans in and places his lips right in front of yours, eyes boring down into your own. “I can’t wait to take it off of you.”
You whine and grab him by the unbuttoned jacket of his suit, tilting your head up to finally reconnect your lips, one of your legs coming up to wrap around his waist.
His hand slides down to hold up your thigh, slipping underneath the dress to feel even more of your skin, even more of you. “I need you inside me so bad,” you whimper against his lips, pulling his body even closer.
“I know, baby, I’ll take care of you, I promise,” Chris whispers, sliding his hand up farther and around to the inside of your thigh. He pushes your legs apart a bit more and gently rubs his two middle fingers against your panties, which were no doubt noticeably wet at this point. “Is this all for me?” He asks lowly.
You nod, pushing your hips into his hand more. “Yes, all for you.” You tell him, starting to slide one of your hands down his torso. You’re about to ghost your fingers over his bulge when the elevator dings and the doors open, signaling you’ve arrived to your floor. Chris pulls away and pushes your leg down before using both hands to pull your dress back into place, then leads you out and towards your room in silence, using the keycard to open the door.
You both walk in, and if the tension was already high, the door shutting behind you just launched it into space. There was only one thing left to do from this point.
hi gorgeous!! The way you write james has me thinking non stop about him for days (i need him fr) so on that note, can i please get a request where reader gets jealous for some reason and he doesn’t notice at first cause he only has eyes for her but she kind of gets clingier and a little grumpy so he talks to her and just lots of fluff and cuddles? Thank you <3
thank youu! comments like that make me want to be writing all the time really hope you like it!! sorry i got a little carried away length-wise
a confession among friends: getting called my boyfriend's sister actually happened to me once and i was soo pissed lmao
pairing: James Potter x reader word count: 4.1k (not completely proofread)
Boy-friend
You weren’t much in the mood for a party. No matter how many times Sirius clarified that it was only a “get together,” it was a party. Still, James had wanted to come, and there’d been plenty of times he’d come out because you were the one who felt like it, so you were happy to try to make the most of it.
James comes up behind you now, surprising you and tickling you with no warning. You break out in full laughter but contort to smack him away.
“Stop! stop!” you half laugh, half yell.
“Alright, shortcake, but if I catch you looking grumpy again, you’re gonna get it,” he replies cheekily, giving you a playfully accusatory squint. “Shortcake” wasn’t your favourite of his nicknames, but it had stuck after one night the boys had had way too much to drink and way too much fun making fun of you for being the shortest of the group, not bothering with your contention that it wasn’t fair since you were the only girl.
“I was not looking grumpy.”
“Given I’m the one who could see what you looked like, not you, I think my word counts for more here.”
“What are you two on about?” Sirius interrupts, wrapping an arm around James’s shoulders in their typically brotherly way.
“Was or was she not looking grumpy just now?” James asks.
“Was,” Sirius nods affirmatively.
“Whatever, you losers,” you roll your eyes at them. “Anyway, if I’m looking bored” — you glare at them before either corrects your word choice — “I feel justified in blaming the host of the party,” you smirk at Sirius.
“It’s not a party; it’s a get t—“
“A get together,” you both finish for him.
“Yes, yes, we know, mate,” James laughs. “Lots of people in your flat for a ‘get together,’ don’t you think?”
“Well, I’ve just made lots of cool friends recently. Thought it’d be nice for them to meet each other,” he shrugs.
“Always so generous,” you tease.
“‘Course,” he shrugs. “How else are you two annoyingly romantic recluses going to meet anyone new? You never leave your flat.”
“We do so,” you try, but it sounds damningly defensive. You cringe before Sirius can pounce and add, “Well, we’re here now aren’t we?”
“Fair. Glad you’ve graced me with your presence, L/N,” Sirius smiles.
Just then a small toy football whizzes past Sirius’s head.
“Oi!” he yells, turning towards the source of the projectile. “No indoor football!” Then he grins his characteristically wolfish smile. “Not before I get to pick teams! I am host after all.” He grabs you by the wrist, dragging you with him. When you begin to object, he just shushes you with, “Weren’t you just complaining about being bored?”
James comes too, no dragging necessary. You’re surprised to find Remus, usually so responsible, in the midst of the ball game crowd.
You raise an eyebrow at him, and he chuckles, shrugging and telling you, “It’s Sirius’s flat. Do you think we’d even be able to tell if something got damaged?” He looks around at the messy space.
You all start what was initially some kind of football game, but it just devolves into a drunken monkey in the middle situation.
You get stuck in the middle, for frustratingly longer than most. It’s not fair Remus is so tall, and James so athletic. When you’ve finally had enough, you jump at James when he catches the ball, wrapping your arms around him, not even going for the ball.
“Hey!” he yells as he’s laughing. “Ref! Foul!” He shakes you loose, not without a fight from you. “That’s not the game,” he chides you. He lifts the ball high, and you make the mistake of reaching for it, obviously having no chance. “Gotta try better than that.” He hasn’t stopped laughing as you jump up and down like an idiot.
“I give up,” you announce, winded but smiling slightly.
“Such a sore loser,” he teases, ruffling your hair a bit and giving you a gentle playful push.
“Whatever,” you push him back. “I’m thirsty. You want anything?”
“I’m good. Catch up in a sec.”
“‘Kay.”
He throws the ball over your head at a ready Sirius as you weave your way to the kitchen.
You lean on the counter, drinking some water. You look back over toward your silly boyfriend and best friends, who are still playing the game, but your view is mostly blocked by a couple of girls who are also watching the shenanigans. You don’t mean to eavesdrop, but they’re standing very close to you.
“He’s so cute,” says one of them, a strikingly attractive girl in heels that make her a whole head taller than the other girl.
“Why am I not surprised? You have such a specific type,” laughs her friend.
The gorgeous girl just shrugs, owning it with no shame.
Having witnessed your fair share of such reactions, you automatically assume they’re talking about Sirius. You just smile and roll your eyes, used to it.
Soon the boys are over the antics too even though the game continues without them, and they come get some water as well. James stands next to you as he downs his glass. He bumps his shoulder against yours, a common gesture between you.
The girls turn toward your group now, and the especially pretty one says, “Thanks again for inviting us, Sirius. If I’d realized it was going to get so… physical” — she emphasizes the word seductively, as she nods back to where they had just been throwing the ball — “I wouldn’t’ve worn such high heels.” She kicks her foot back a bit, as if to show the heels she’s blaming, but you don’t miss her turn into it, showing off her (amazing) body.
Sirius just grins knowingly, unfazed.
“You could always take them off,” he suggests nonchalantly.
She giggles and retorts, “But they look so good on me.”
You can’t help but think it’s incredible people actually just talk to each other this way. You feel like you’re watching a movie, sure you’d never feel bold enough to say something like that unless the other person knew it was your line. You’d never been particularly good at flirting, and getting together with James since back at school, you hadn’t had the need in a long time. Even with James, though, you’d never talked like this, not back then, not now. You were glad you didn’t feel the need; everything just came naturally when it came to James. He used to make you nervous from how much you liked him, sure, but for years, you’d become completely comfortable with him. The closest you came to flirting was your quite frequent teasing, but you teased Sirius and Remus as well, and they you.
“Aren’t you going to introduce us to your friends?” The girl’s question breaks you from your thoughts, drawing your gaze to her. Her gaze, you come to find, is not on Sirius, but on James. Directly, aggressively on James.
Oh god. Maybe it wasn’t Sirius after all.
“Oh, how rude of me,” Sirius says, typically theatrical. “Lads, this is Jules and…” Jules introduces her friend, but you miss her name as a group of people near you laugh loudly. “And these are my best mates, Remus, James, and Y/N,” he gestures at each of you in turn. “We go back to our school days,” he adds kind of adorably.
“Oh, how cute!” says Jules.
Ok, not that adorably. You cringe internally at her then feel a bit guilty for disliking this girl for very little reason. Well, maybe there was a reason… but it wasn’t one you felt often.
She hasn’t stopped staring at James the whole time, and you steal a glance at him now. He’s pouring himself more water, quite unaffected. He looks at her only when she addresses him directly.
“You were so good at… whatever you all were doing over there,” she giggles. “James. It was James, right?”
Oh please. She obviously remembered.
“Yeah,” James smiles, wiping some water that had condensed around his glass. “Thanks,” he chuckles and shrugs. “Not much competition, though,” he adds teasingly, shoving Sirius on one side of him and splashing your face with the water droplets lingering on his fingers on the other.
“Oh don’t be mean,” she says exaggeratedly, playfully hitting his shoulder.
You are not a fan of how angry such minimal contact makes you.
“I thought you put up a really good fight against someone so tall and clearly athletic,” she says to you, looking back toward James at the end of her sentence.
James just laughs lightly and, turning to you, bumping your shoulder, asks, “What do you think, shortcake? You think you put up a good fight?” His tone is all teasing.
“You two are too cute,” says Jules.
Weird angle for her obvious flirting, you think.
“Is this your sister?” she asks, pointing between the two of you.
Oh god. You are simultaneously mortified and infuriated.
Sirius breaks out laughing, saying, “I told you I bet other people play siblings or dating with you two when we go out.”
James starts saying something, but just then, the ball from the continued game hits the counter right next to you, knocking over a bunch of water glasses and startling you all.
“Alright,” Sirius chuckles. “Maybe enough with this shit.” He grabs the ball and goes to toss it in a closet. James goest to dry his arm where it got splashed. Remus starts cleaning up the mess. A loudly apologetic bloke you don’t know comes over to help.
The slight chaos has moved the conversation away from what was just happening, and you have no idea how to clarify things without being incredibly awkward.
His sister? What the fuck? Did this girl really not mind being a total bitch to get what she wanted or, worse, did she actually think you were siblings? Did you look like siblings to the rest of the world? Should it bother you so much if you did?
You’re reeling, and start thinking back to what could’ve given her that impression. Your stomach sinks at the realization of so much playful bumping, hair ruffling, and the like. You can’t remember kissing James once tonight. Maybe this isn’t out of the ordinary, with your slight aversion to PDA, but not once? You realize also how many of your gestures toward James you’d also done toward Sirius. How much they behaved similarly not just with you but with each other. Oh god. Were you that sisterly?
You panic, reach for a kitchen towel, and start drying your damp boyfriend, getting way too close and speaking way too loudly when you say, “Let me help you with that, baby.”
James is a little taken aback. You never call him baby. In fact, though his calling you pet names is common, the reverse is rare. You usually stick with “Jamie” … or some dumb teasing insult like “loser.”
“Uh, it’s fine,” he chuckles confusedly. “Wasn’t that much.” You nod and put the towel down. “You okay?” he asks.
“Fine,” you say too quickly.
You glance toward Jules to gauge her reaction, but she’s busy also drying off, her friend having gotten the worst of it, and you’re not sure whether she heard you.
“Wanna go sit down? I’m tired,” you tell James, dragging him by the hand, which you don’t let go of even after he’s clearly following you, back to the living room.
You pull him down to the couch, where you proceed to sit way too close to him despite there being more room on your other side and wind your arm under his as you continue to hold his hand. You kiss his cheek as he settles in.
He’s smiling but asks, “What’s with you, love?”
“Nothing,” you say, but your voice sounds off even to you. You kiss him again, and even more confusion seeps into his smile.
You’re trying to think of something “couple-y” to do but come up with absolutely nothing, an awkward air arising between the two of you as you squirm. You literally cannot remember the last time you felt awkward with him, and now you add feeling guilty into the mix. At your insecurities, at your jealousy, at his slight discomfort, you’re not even sure at what, but it’s awful.
“You sure you’re alright, sweetheart? You’re all tense, and I’m pretty sure I’ve lost circulation in my hand at this point,” he chuckles. You notice your grip is vice-like.
His tone is light, but yours is not as you snap, “I’m just holding your hand. I’m your girlfriend; that shouldn’t be weird.”
His smile fades quickly as he answers, “Uh… I didn’t say it was weird, Y/N. Just too tight?” It sounds like a question, but that’s probably just because he seems very confused overall.
“Right. Sorry.” Your voice is much softer now as you let go of his hand.
“It’s fine. Obviously. I just… Um…” He’s searching for what to say, wanting to comfort you but unsure what you even needed comforting from. He opts for just reaching for your hand again, straining a smile though his eyebrows remain in a confused furrow.
“You wanna go disorganize Sirius’s beloved record collection?” he asks mischievously.
“No, not really,” you say softly, not feeling like a prank right now even though you usually did.
“Um, ok.” James looks a bit awkward. “You hungry?”
“No.”
“Right.” A silence. “Let’s just sit here then,” he says, probably a bit more sarcastically than intended.
“Is that so bad? Do we always have to be doing something for me to be fun?” you shoot, standing up. “Why don’t you go find Sirius or Remus, James. I’m sure it won’t even make a difference.” You turn away angrily, but he follows you up quickly and stops you.
“Whoah, what’s up, shortcake?” he asks, eyes wide.
“Don’t call me that. It sounds like you’re teasing your little sister.”
You see something in his eyes at the word “sister,” but you turn and keep trying to walk away before you have time to really analyse it.
James is following you but he has to weave between a group of people you managed to avoid, so you get to the bathroom before he catches up. He knocks a second later.
“Y/N? Can we talk please?” You don’t say anything. “Come on, Y/N. Let me in. Or you come out.” You lean against the door but still don’t say anything.
“I just want to know you’re okay,” he says more softly this time.
“I’m fine,” you say, softly too. “I just need a second, okay? I’ll be out in a minute.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, just give me a minute.”
“Alright, love, but just come back quick, alright?”
You’re not even really sure what you’re doing in here. You just need to collect yourself, you guess. You fiddle with some stuff on the sink then find yourself looking in the mirror.
An ugly thought arises, and you hate it, trying to push it away. It comes back anyway.
She’s much prettier than me…
That distorted inner voice doesn’t stop there.
And better at being a girl.
“You’re being ridiculous,” you whisper out loud to yourself. “Completely ridiculous.”
You wash your hands even though you haven’t used the toilet, shaking your head, your gaze fixed on your hands. Then you go back out into the party.
James is across the room, talking to Remus, but staring at the door you just came out of. As soon as he sees you, he pats Remus on the shoulder, saying something quickly, and starts moving toward you.
He’s stopped in the middle of the room by a perfectly manicured hand on his chest. It’s attached to Jules, of course, and your glare hardens. You’re too far away to hear what she says to him, her hand lingering on him.
James shakes his head a bit at whatever she’s saying, his eyes coming back toward you quickly. He gives her a glance again and a nod then his hand comes to her shoulder. You’re eyes are glued to where they connect, and so your gaze follows the motion of James’s hand gently pushing her body aside. A moment later, it detaches as he continues walking toward you. You haven’t moved when he reaches you.
“Hey,” he says simply.
“Hi,” you return. You look away from his face, shy and confused about what to tell him.
His hand gently guides your chin back up, and you lose yourself in his beautiful eyes for a second. He gives you his warmest smile, and you give him a pitiful but sincere one back.
“You wanna talk about what the hell just happened?” he laughs lightly.
“Isn’t it obvious?” you try. You’re not sure you want it to be, but you’re too embarrassed to explain and would take any option that meant you didn’t have to.
“Actually, it wasn’t,” he chuckles. “When you got weird, I thought it was just because you didn’t want to come tonight,” he starts. “But I still didn’t understand the specific… I don’t know, kind? of weird you got.” His lips quirk into a teasing-adjacent smile here, but your face immediately contorts in embarrassment. You cover it with your hand, but James quickly removes yours with his. “Hey, hey, no, sorry. I’m sorry. It’s alright, lovely.” He caresses your hand he’s still holding. “I’m not teasing, okay?” He smiles at you, and you just keep watching him, but your face relaxes a bit. “Then,” he exhales dramatically, “Remus asked me how you reacted to that girl flirting with me right in front of you then calling you my sister.” He grimaces.
Thank God for Remus, you think, the only emotionally aware man you’ve ever met.
“I hadn’t noticed the first part, sweetheart,” James adds. “The flirting part, I mean. I’m sorry, pretty girl. I mean, she didn’t know I had a girlfriend — clearly — but I would’ve just told her I did if that ball hadn’t hit us.”
“She was really into you,” you say before thinking, unsure where that’s supposed to take the conversation.
“Was she? Huh.” He sounds slightly amused, but you know he’s acting to amuse you.
“You really couldn’t tell?” you ask him. There’s disbelief in your voice, but you’re smiling a bit at him. He takes a step closer to you.
“I mean, I guess in retrospect, it makes sense,” he says honestly. “But I guess I’m out of practice,” he laughs. “And more importantly, I don’t care who’s really into me because I’m really into you, you silly girl.”
You exhale, your heart warming and most of your heavy emotions leaving you. You squeeze his hand, and shaking your head at yourself, bring it to rest on his chest. James chuckles into your hairline, kissing the top of your head and holding it close, his fingers interweaving into your hair.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble, your mouth squished against him.
You can feel him shake his head since he’s resting it on yours.
“No need,” he smiles. “I’m sorry. Was quite daft.” You laugh into his chest. You wipe away a tiny tear you’d been about to shed then rest your hand on his chest. The image reminds you, and you jolt upright, looking into his face again. He looks startled but amused.
“What?”
“What was she saying to you? Just now?” You nod toward where they’d been talking. He laughs a full laugh.
“She was telling me we should ditch this get together and go to her place.” He wiggles his eyebrows goofily.
“Jamieee,” you scold, smacking his chest. He grabs hold of your hand and holds it to his heart, thumb caressing the back of it. His other hand still at the nape of your neck.
“She was telling me,” he leans in conspiratorially, “‘sorry for not realizing your girlfriend was your girlfriend,’” he chuckles again. “I guess your little show worked afterward.”
“And what’d you say?”
“Does it matter?” It’s not harsh; he’s all warmth now. Knowing him, you realize he probably just doesn’t see the point of lingering.
“I just want to know,” you say.
“I said I didn’t care and it was fine or something.” He shrugs. “Can’t remember my exact words. Had more important things — a more important person — on my mind, to be honest.” He smiles at you. You smile back.
“I love you,” you tell him.
“I love you too,” he replies with a laugh as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “So much,” he adds, a bit more seriously, and kisses your forehead.
You just stand there, close to each other, your head back on his chest, his arms around you, for a few moments.
Then, leaning back to look at his face, you ask seriously, “Do you really?”
He looks confused by your question, its sincerity. “Of course I do. I adore you. You don’t know that?” His question has more than a tinge of hurt under it.
“No,” you chuckle. But before he can get the wrong idea, you quickly continue, “Of course I know that.” You smile earnestly, and he seems comforted. “I mean, do you really not care? That she couldn’t tell I was your girlfriend?” Your voice grows softer and softer as you ask, and it’s a mere whisper by the end.
“No, sweetheart,” he smiles. “I don’t. I know. And you know. Who cares what other people think?”
“I did,” you scold yourself. “I’m sorry I got so weird. I just… I got really insecure about being just like Sirius or Remus to you. I know I’m just one of you in some ways —“
He cuts you off, “Yeah, baby, you’re one of us in some ways, but not in every way. The four of us, we have something special,” he nods. “But the two of us, we have something special too.” He tightens your embrace. “Seriously special. Yeah, we’re… what? friendly? sometimes. But, darling, you are not like Sirius or Remus to me.” He brings his hand to your face, caressing your cheek. “For starters, I don’t want to kiss Sirius or Remus, and they’re pretty good looking blokes,” he jokes. “And I don’t want to tell them about every single thing that makes me smile — just a lot of them — and about everything important in my life. I don’t need to make sure they’re happy and safe absolutely all of the time. I don’t feel warm and happy to be alive every time I look at them, and I don’t love cuddling with them at night, waking up to them in the morning. Not to even mention the other things that happen in that bed…” Now you laugh too.
“Yeah,” you nod, getting convinced.
“Yeah?” he pushes.
“Yeah,” you say certainly.
“Good.”
You hum a warm assent.
“Now what do you say we ditch this get together and go back to our place?”
You roll your eyes at him but laugh as you nod.
“Yeah, let’s go home.”
He’s nodding as he shifts his arm across your shoulders, kissing the top of your head and continuing to hold you close as you walk toward Sirius and Remus to say goodbye.
“Leaving already?” Sirius complains, teasing you about being antisocial and lame.
“Sorry, mate, but I really want to cuddle up with my girlfriend right now, and this doesn’t seem like the best place for that.”
“Ugh, so cheesy, Prongs. Just leave already,” he says, feigning disgust and pushing James away.
“Good night, gorgeous,” Sirius tells you, kissing your cheek carelessly like he’s done a million times. Similar words, similar gestures, yes, you think, but they don’t feel the same at all. You smile.
“Good night, Siri,” you say. You and James hug Remus too.
James puts his arm back around you as you go to leave. You smile up at him, then, mischief in your eyes, you push him away and walk faster.
“You’re all sweaty, Potter. Gross.” He laughs and play chases you all the way out the door.
Once you’re on the other side of it, enveloped by the welcoming quiet privacy of the night, he catches up to you and pulls you to him. You resist for only a moment, your laughter intermingling with his, then you melt into his embrace.
“C’mere, gorgeous,” James huffs, kissing you ardently. “Can’t wait to get home with you,” he whispers before kissing you again.
just a girl 6
Warnings: this fic will include elements, some dark, such as possible cheating, low self-esteem, noncon/dubcon, and other untagged triggers. Please take this into account before proceeding. It is up to curate your online consumption safely.
Summary: you move in with your sister when your luck turns for the worst.
Characters: Walter Marshall, possible Andy Barber
Author’s Note: Please feel free to leave some feedback, reblog, and jump into my asks. I’m always happy to discuss with you and riff on idea. As always, you are cherished and adored! Stay safe, be kind, and treat yourself💜
You wash away the tang of the barbeque sauce with the wine. In your nervousness, you lost track of how much you’ve drank. Even as you eat, with nothing much to say, he watches you. Walter’s intensity is as roiling as the waves that rippled off the grill.
He’s on his second can of beer but hardly seems affected. You think it’s not as strong as wine. You look at your glass and the last mouthful.
“Don’t wanna waste it,” he leans forward and winks.
“Oh, uh,” you gulp then put the crystal to your lips. You force yourself to swallow the last little bit.
He stands, causing you to wince. He chuckles as he grabs the wine bottle and uncaps it. You watch him with wide eyes.
“You’re so jumpy, relax,” he purrs as he fills your glass again. You watch the blush liquid with dread. “That lawyer idiot’s got you on edge.”
“It isn’t...” you chew your lip and look away, “I think I’ve had enough.”
“Bah, we’re just getting started,” he winks and plunks the bottle back down, “I’m gonna grab another beer.”
“Right,” you agree without further protests.
You sit back and pout into the glass. You want to go but he’s completely correct. Andy has you all twisted up and out of sorts. You can’t go back there. Not yet. You’re stuck here. Walter is every bit as intense as your brother-in-law just in a very different way.
You stare up at the sky. It’s getting dark. You really don’t want to walk home drunk and you can feel your eyes getting foggy. You feel a bit jittery but that could just be the usual. Unthinkingly, you take a swig to soothe yourself. You see how it can be so dangerous to drink.
The screen door snaps again and Walter reappears. Your eyes round and flick back up to the sky as you see him. Oh.
He wears only a pair of short grey-blue swim trunks, thought they look more like boxers. They’re short enough that the muscles of his thighs are on displayed in thick cords and the hair along them stands stark against his skin. He is thick all over. The peek of the dark hair the trails from chest to pelvis stains your mind. Don’t think about that.
You wipe your forehead with the back of your hand.
“Come on, let’s have some fun. You know, the hot tub is actually a great way to cool off,” he cracks the tab on the can in his hand, “or spice things up. Whatever you want.”
You turn the stemmed glass and fidget, “I’m good.”
“Don’t make me drag you,” he kids. “You ever have fun or do you just sit in the dark and listen to grunge?”
Your eyes dart up to him as hurt creases around your lips. He sounds like Andy. He thinks you’re pathetic too.
“Look,” he lets out a long breath, “I’m pulling your chain, tryna loosin’ you up. I didn’t mean anything by it. Just... you could use a hot soak. I can see the tension in your shoulders. They’re almost touching your ears.”
You drop your shoulders decisively. He’s not lying. You’re so rigid, you’re quivering. It might be nice if you were alone.
“Well, you get that wine down and come join me when you’re ready.” He nears and you shy away. He taps the side of his can against your glass, “cheers.”
He takes another dip gulp and turns away. He strides off, tramping down the steps, as you watch the muscles in his back. If he wanted to put you in the tub himself, you’re certain he could. You’re a guest and you don’t want to be rude. Even to him.
You blow out between your lips and tamp down the last of your worry. If you clench your jaw any tighter, your teeth might just break. You’re tired of the stress, of the tension, of the constant self-hatred. If the wine can make you forget all that, it can’t be that bad.
You nearly gag as you choke down the rose. You hold back a belch and stand, finding yourself off-balance as you get to your feet. You shake your head and grab the bottle of wine. You leave the glass on the table.
You come down the steps as Walter sighs and leans his head back, his arms stretched around the side of the hot tub. His eyes are closed as he basks in the cooling air. You walk as the wine sloshes noisily in the glass. You see his can sticking out of a cup holder built into the trim. You find another and plunk the wine into it.
You back up and stare at the tub, contemplating. You look down then up again. His eyes are open as he reaches for his beer and watches you. You tap your fingers against your thighs.
“Well?” He raises his brows.
“Um,” you swallow.
You turn away so you don’t have to look at him. You’re really going to do this. It’s no different than a swim suit, right? You pull of your tee shirt and reveal your cotton bra. You fold it up and leave it on the folding table near the tub. You take your time untying your converse and peeling off your socks.
You stand again and undo your thigh, the noise of the jets droning in your ears. You push your pants down and hear a low noise. You step out of the denim and face Walter as he tilts his head, his teeth sinking into his lower lip.
“Looking good,” he purrs.
You cross your arms over your stomach and put your head down. You approach the edge of the tub and quickly climb over the side. You ease in opposite him and he clucks. He shifts to claim the seat next to you. You turn your attention to the sky.
“Don’t gotta be shy,” he reaches past you, leaning close, and grabs the wine, “come on.”
You eye the bottle and take it from him. You drink from the long neck and pop your lips off. You twist up your mouth and put it back. The heat is not helping. You vision is ringed and fuzzy and your body feels loose.
“You good?” He rubs your shoulder, his hand hotter than the water. You blink and look over at his touch.
“Think so,” you choke out.
“Mm,” his thumb rubs circles into your skin, “you really are built nicely.”
“Um,” you close your eyes and steady yourself, “thanks... I guess...” you remember the smell of wood chips and feel hands around your hips, the saw buzzes loudly. Your eyes snap open as he tickles along your neck, “I don’t feel too good.”
“Gotta let the wine settle,” he purrs and leans down to kiss your shoulder as his hand creeps up the back of your neck. “You’re good.”
“Uh huh,” your eyes roll in your head as your skin speckles with hot and cold. His beard tickles along your collar bone as his curls brush your face, “what--”
He grips your neck and buries his face in your chest. You gasp and jolt in the water but find your limbs heavily and clumsy. You press your hands to the plastic grooves to keep from slipping as he brings his other hand up to cup one side of your chest.
“Walter?” You croak.
“Mmm, it’s alright, baby,” he speaks against your skin, “I’ll treat you right,” he hooks his fingers under the band of your bra, tugging until one side of your chest falls free, “you just relax.”
spider 👁️👁️ what does that boy know? does he even have a girlfriend? *ahem* i guess we’ll never know. he got the lowest rizz game in the family, with all due respect from neteyam.
tukkk, SHE IS A MINOR AND A CHILD.
neytiri? i guess? bet she would be more of a pain in the ahh if he would go to her for advice. being a mom she is, she would definitely judge neteyam’s crush and all of his dream would crash down. no, we don’t want that.
jake, it is.
but how? how to make it the least awkward to approach his dad about stuff like this?
he tried to give his dad signals and signs everyday but he doesn’t seem to pick them up. he even started to doubt if his dad is the real player, cuz them boy is clueless😭
“dad?”
“yes?” jake replied with his back facing neteyam.
“how do you er…like send a sign?”
“neteyam, i thought we went over this already,” he sighed. “press your collar when speaking, and say ‘over’ when you are done talking”
“oh!” he scratched his neck. “okay, sorry, dad.”
neteyam was hopeless 😭 but to get a girl, he can’t just give up easily
he tried again, now, with a little help from his sister
“dad,” he walked quietly into the marui where his dad is resting.
“what?” he grumbled.
“erm…last time…when…” his words fumbled around each other, while kiri came into the marui.
“when what? get to the point,” he shifted the blanket off his chest and sat up.
“dad, he is asking you how to ask a girl out,” she said nonchalantly as she looked through the drawer. “you’re welcome, bro,” with a swift of her tail, she was out the door.
“oh, well,” jake chuckled loudly. “have i heard correctly?”
“well, yea..yes.”
“c’mere, son,” he patted the mattress. “let me show you.”
jake would be so proud. he would laugh uncontrollably for like 10 minutes cause neteyam got him worried there.
but his son ask, he will reveal
“now, welcome to “the way of rizz 101” class with jake sully,” he joking said. “there are many ways to ask a girl out, alright, but there is a main pattern you must look out for.”
“number 1: set the mood. it is the most important, alright?” he ruffled neteyam’s locks. “you could never go wrong with setting the mood, look for spots, lighting, and the feels.” “guess where we got down, the tree of souls, yeah, magic, am i righ-“
“ew dad, please.”
“okay, listen to the experts, son,” he laughed. “number 2: make it personal, PER-SO-NAL”
“yes, i understand, I’m not dumb”
“no, son, it’s really important. don’t reuse your letters, never get her the same gift. DO NOT never ever use the same pick up line. AND definitely do not use the same pattern for every girl.” (amen to deja-vu from olivia rodrigo, guys)
“number 3: be yourself,” he patted his son back. “don’t be afraid, if she doesn’t accept your offer, don’t let it consume you.”
“how can i do that?” he retorted.
“what is she like?”
“she is the only girl i have ever laid my eyes on and they were stuck! can’t imagine even just one other girl that i have felt the same feelings i am feeling right now.”
“that’s the spirit, atta boy,” he chuckled. “then, i pray for eywa that this is the way.” “eywa will show you the way if she is the one for you,” he smiled softly.
“and a honorable mention, do not ever make a girl cry over your stupid mistakes, alright?”
“how would i know?”
“you would feel it, respect her, respect her as a goddess, hell yeah, adore her, like eywa,” he added. “she is gentle but deadly, the spirit of life. always ask for consent, always. when you are mated for life, you both become equal.”
“let her guide you, and let you guide her,” he held his palms together as one. “now, how to rizz a girl up is not useful without your effort,” he patted his son’s head and pushed him up.
“go get the girl, atta boy!”
today is a great day to go touch grass 😳 i mean- take care of yourself 🤍
| gojo satoru *◞
i feel like he'd make a really fun big brother, the type you can joke about anything with. you two would always end up a little late to class, you always blame it on his antics but he insists that you were the main cause of why the two of you were late.
he'd be the type to steal your snacks and a) insult you for your tastes in snacks/sweets or b) he would steal more when you weren't looking.
"did you. just take. another one of my snacks behind my back."
"no i didn't." whilst he's literally chewing on the said snack he stole.
i can kinda see him being a little protective of you too, not in an overbearing way but more of a "i'll look out for you" kinda way. like in a scenario where you two get sent on a mission together, he's more likely to be more observant when it comes to you. he'd still tease you if you got scared by something but when he senses that you're stressed or anxious he'd give you a light pat on your shoulder.
"there's no need to be scared." you look up at him as he lightly patted your shoulder. "your big brother is the strongest after all." he'd say in his usual light hearted (cocky) tone, and suddenly all admiration you might've had for him has been throw away as you kick the back of his knee a little. you laugh in his face as his stumbles a little.
i feel like whenever the both of you go out for lunch or dinner together he always insists on paying, in the most asshole way ever.
"i could never let my baby sister pay for my meal!" as he jokingly pushed the bill closer to your side of the table. yet before you can grab it he snatches it out of your reach. "it's ok, you're probably too poor to even pay for me." even though he knows you're just as rich as him.
yet if he ever got the sense that he went too far in his antics he'd apologise, maybe not in the most forward way but you'd know he means it. he'll buy you either something that you've been wanting for awhile or just some of your favourite snacks.
id like to imagine that whenever you go on solo missions, he'd secretly be really worried for you. he knows you can fight amazingly (having learned from the best) but he just can't help that uneasy feeling. suguru and shoko can sense when he's anxious, his leg is bouncing up and down as he's waiting for you at the entrance of jujutsu high. when he sees you he acts like he hasn't been worrying over you at all.
"fiiiiinaly you're back, i was stuck here waiting for you." he pretends to act annoyed at having to wait there for his younger sibling and you just roll your eyes and flip him off.
whenever you're sad or in need of comfort he honestly wouldn't know what to do. sometimes he walks past your room and he can hear the faint sound of sniffles. he stops in his place, contemplating if he should go inside your room or act like he never heard you at all. ultimately he usually sends you a text saying that he's proud of you, that you deserve a break and that you two should go out sometime to relax.
[tooth brush 8:47 a.m -> you] "hey, you've been going on a lot of missions lately. wanna go out to relax a little? my treat."
[tooth brush 8:48 a.m -> you] "i'm proud of you yk?"
you leave him on read but he knows you appreciated it, he goes up to you after school asking where you'd like to go out for dinner.
he'd introduce you to his friends, namely suguru and shoko. you guys actually spend some nights together playing games or watching movies. you guys aren't in the same year (reader is one year younger than gojo) but when you pass by the trio in the hall you sometimes like to mess with your brother by only greeting suguru and shoko.
"morning getou, morning shoko." you bow slightly to them, blatantly ignoring your older brother.
"hey! what about me??" he stops as he turns his head back to you. "oh sorry, didn't you see there." you say as you snick your tongue out at him, sprinting forward as he starts chasing you down the halls. shoko immediately pulls out her phone as suguru just leans against the wall and laughs at the two of you.
| geto suguru *◞
amazing older brother, very chill with you. honestly he lets you do whatever you want as long as it's not harming you in any way. you guys don't often go out together but i feel like he's the type to just send you funny pictures or videos.
he's the kind of older brother who would, after an afternoon of going out with satoru at the arcade, would come back with a plush of a character you liked or something you've said that you've wanted for awhile.
"hey i got you something" and it's this ginormous plushie he's somehow managed to fit through the door.
"you don't have to always bring me back something whenever you go out with gojo. i barely have any space left on my bed." you laugh, taking the huge plushie from your big brother. "just put some on the floor then."
"has going out with gojo so much caused you to go dumb??" you stare at him. "i'm gonna tell that to him." he sighs as he pulls out his phone.
when you two go on a mission together, it's usually pretty casual between the two of you. you both have the same calmness about you when on missions, only engaging in light conversations and mild teasing. you bullying suguru and he bullies you back but you end up complaining that he's so mean to his baby sister, that as the big brother he should be nice to you. you laugh as he rolls his eyes.
if he notices that during the mission you seem a little uneasy he'd ask if there was anything wrong or if you had noticed something.
"what's wrong? is something wrong?" he asks, slowing down his pace as you walk next to him. "nothing. it's stupid." you sigh, trying to put on your best nonchalant face but you know it won't fool your brother for long.
"try me, i spend almost everyday with satoru." you both laugh at this. "i'm just feeling a little nervous that's all." you huff out after a few more moments of silence.
"hmm, i can't help much with that to be completely honest but i know you'll be fine in this mission. you're strong, if you need any help, i'll be right behind you." he assures you, going deeper into the dark building you two were assigned to.
i feel like he'd also be a little protective of you like satoru. if you have any guy friends come over to your room or you go out with a guy he'd interrogate you on what happened. and if he ever found out that someone hurt you or you got hurt during a mission, you wouldn't even dare tease him about this protective side of him.
"who did this to you?" he'd ask with an eerie calmness in his voice as he's dressing your wounds. "it's fine really, i exorcised the curse already. i just got a little clumsy is all." you laugh it off, wincing as he dabs on some ointment on your arm.
"tsk, be more careful next time." he'd sigh, more relieved than annoyed actually. he's proud you defeated such a powerful curse but he still worries about your safety.
if he senses that you've been losing motivation to go to school or not talking to your friends much he'd come into your room unannounced to make sure that everything was ok. he's been through what you're going through right now and he doesn't want you to go through such a dark place.
"hey, i noticed you look kinda out of it recently. what's going on?" he asks, sitting next to you on the floor while you're sitting on your bed, his back is turned to you.
when you don't respond he speaks up again. "it's fine if you don't wanna answer me or even talk right now. i want you to know that no matter how busy i am or how much time i spend with satoru or shoko that i'm always here for you. you're my favourite sister after all." he adds in the last part to try to get a laugh out of you.
"i'm your only sister." you slightly smack his shoulder as giggle. he's glad he's able to make you laugh in times like these.
you always ask him where he buys his shampoos or hair masks and he just smiles at you, pretending like he never heard you at all. you've ask him the same question for years now and he's never given you the answer.
[you 2:54 p.m-> big brother ru] "if you don't tell me where you get your shampoo from i'm gonna cut your hair in your sleep."
[suguru 3:03 p.m -> copycat] "kys."
i imagine that whenever you were younger you'd always look up to suguru as your inspiration. kinda following what he would do when you both were just kids. hence the contact name now
you're actually good friends with shoko! you meet up with her sometimes for lunch after school. you like bullying gojo with your brother but when you're alone with him you get quiet cause you're only able to insult him casually when your older brother is around.
"why are you so quiet when suguru isn't around??" gojo asks, suguru left to get you guys some drinks from the vending machine (he lost a scissors paper stone match..) "dunno, you scare me." you shrug causing shoko to laugh.
"yea stop scaring our poor junior." the arm that shoko has around your shoulder tightens. "satoru tends to scare people like that." suguru sits back down in the space between you and satoru. "stop scaring my sister will you?" "i wasn't even doing anything!" while you and shoko just laugh at them.
notes and reblogs are heavily appreciated !!
Champagne Coast
1.1 Pilot
Seth Cohen x Hailey Atwood (oc)
A/N: hehehehe I just loooovvveeee my stiles stilinski variants. this is an oc and she is ryans sister- twins! at least, same ages. I'm gonna try not to have too many physical descriptors of her, for all we know she could be adopted. hope you enjoy!
"Trey, what if we get caught?" Ryan was always so quick to assume the worst.
"Ryan," I started, "We won't get caught, but you might if you keep overthinking things."
"Hailey, this is grand theft auto. Real-life fucking grand theft auto, not the video game. Something seriously could go wrong." I just rolled my eyes in response. We had done this several times by now, jacking cars for parts. We needed the money, and of course driving around random cars was always fun. A way to blow off steam from the stress of everyday life.
Catching on to my facial expression, Trey slung his arm around my shoulder, "There's the spirit, Bambi." That was my designated nickname. It was a running joke, at first glance everyone assumed I was just an innocent little thing. It helped me get out of sticky situations. More than enough.
"Come on Ryan. Are you in? Or are you out?" Aforementioned boy sent a glare in my direction, willing me to change my mind. I just shook my head with a smile. No way out of this one.
One of Ryan's best qualities was his inability to say no to me. I was always dragging him into my messes, and thankfully he would always arrive with a mop in hand. Ready to clean up the disasters left in my wake. I could feel sorry for him, if I thought about it enough. But that's just it, I didn't.
If it weren't for me, we might be stuck living at this house, for the rest of our lives. No stories to tell, no anything, really. I can't live like this. And he shouldn't have to. Ryan was one of the good ones. And if I could find a way to get him out of here, he could establish himself, and pull me from these ashes.
"Fine. But," Here comes the ultimatum, "Hailey, you stay as far away as possible. You aren't getting thrown in a cell again." Oh, but it's fine if he does it?
All three of us had terrible track records. From fights to breaking and entering, the cops were our biggest fans around Chino. But now we had to be more careful than ever. Trey wasn't a minor anymore. While Ryan and I were each one way from juvie. Ryan had been on the fence for three months now. While I got my final warning just last week, for punching a guy in the nose. He had been trying to grind up against one of my friends, and she had repeatedly told him to fuck off. But to no avail. Ryan tried to hold me back, but I had slipped easily from his grasp, hitting my target so forcefully that his head snapped back and his nose was left bleeding and crooked.
****
Our target was a shiny, souped-out black sports car. I wanted her. I debated trying to convince Trey to let us keep it for a few days.
Ryan was still wary so Trey began to speak, "I'm your big brother. If I don't teach you this, then who will?" Then he smashed the window open. So much for keeping it for a little.
"I don't know Trey-"
"Hailey, get Ryan to get in the car or I will leave his ass for dead." Could have just told him that yourself. I wasn't Trey's biggest fan, but he got shit done. I admired that. Very resilient, the lot of us.
Ryan climbed into the passenger seat, while I took up the back. Situating myself in the middle, I had the perfect view and the empty streets we were about to race. Trey hotwired the car like it was nothing and we were on our way.
Except we didn't get very far before sirens started following us. Fuck.
"Trey pull over."
"Ryan- fuck off man no way."
I tried, "Trey, please. Maybe we can make a run for it."
Trey turned around to spat something at me, but swerved the wheel on accident, causing the car to smash into the building adjacent.
Kids, always wear your seatbelt. Especially if the driver is a fucking idiot. I flew from my seat, but Ryan's arm caught me and pushed me back. My head bounced off the seats. My ears started ringing, and I swear my neck almost snapped from the force.
Someone was talking, but I couldn't make out the words. Or the voice for that matter. But the flashing lights told me enough. I watched Ryan put his hands up, and look at me. He jerked his arms up a little and I got the memo.
With raised arms and my head spinning, I tried to prepare myself for the jail cell.
****
My neck hurt like no other when I awoke. One of the guards had been knocking against the bars, guess I hadn't heard him. He looked pissed. "Get up kid, Someone is here to see you." Who the fuck could that be?
With bleary eyes, I forced myself into a standing position. I held my wrists out so he could slap the cuffs on them before he led me to the visitation room.
Walking in, I spotted Ryan instantly. He was sitting with some older man, who had papers out in front of him.
Like he had some type of sixth sense, Ryan turned his head to face my direction, giving me a soft smile, happy I was alright. He was always the more worried one during this type of thing. He had a point though, girls are never treated the same.
Sitting down, he was quick to assure, "Bambi- you alright?"
I nodded, my throat feeling scratchy. He looked at me with concern, "How's your neck? The crash probably affected you more."
"I'm fine Ryan. Just a little banged up" I replied, voice sounding like hell.
I turned to face the newbie, who was watching our interaction like a hawk.
"Hailey, it's nice to meet you. My name is Sandy Cohen, and I have been appointed as your guy's public defender."
Having already thought about my fate all night, I wasn't feeling too hopeful. I just stared at him, with no expression. He didn't care if I rotted in prison for the rest of my life. No one did. Besides Ryan, but because of me, we would rot together.
Ryan asked about Trey, and that made me pay more attention. Was it bad, that I had forgotten about him? During my all-night freakout session, I hadn't once thought about how this would affect him. The only things on my mind had been about Ryan and I.
"Well, Trey is over eighteen. Trey stole a car, had a gun in his pants, an ounce of pot, and a couple of priors," He had a gun? "Trey is looking at anywhere from three to five years."
The man, Sandy, continued, "I'm not here for Trey. I'm here for you two. Ryan, your grades? Why is a smart kid like you in here right now?" Because of me. "And Hailey, you have community service written every which way. What, steal a car to help out the neighborhood?"
I couldn't help myself, "Something like that."
"She speaks." He laughed a little. I just stared at him. "Hailey, fighting? That doesn't seem like you. Ryan, truancy charges? Come on guys, why are you doing this to yourselves?"
Not receiving any answers, he trudged on, "What is your guys' plan for the future? College? Trade School? Anything?" This guy was trying so hard to remain hopeful for us. What a joke.
But- if we're really being honest, his questioning was making me a little sad. I had no future. Never really did. But Ryan? God, Ryan could do so much. I think I might be sick.
I guess my face cracked, losing it's blank expression in exchange for desperate eyes. If you looked extra close, my lip was sure to be quivering. If Trey were here, he would have laughed at me. He didn't take too kindly to emotions. Ryan learned that quicker than I did growing up, which is why his expression never faltered.
"Mr. Cohen, with all due respect, modern medicine is advancing to the point where the average human life expectancy will be one hundred. But I read this article that said social security was bound to run out by the year of 2025. Which means people are going to have to stay in their jobs until they're eighty. So, we don't want to commit to anything too soon."
Sandy laughed, but persisted, "Look, I can plead this down to a misdemeanor. Petty fine, probation. But seriously guys, stealing a car because your big brother wanted you to it's stupid and weak. Two things, neither of you can afford to be right now." Well, actually we can't afford to be anything right now- fancy lawyer ass. "We three are cut from the same cloth. I know it may not look like it right now, but I was once in your position."
I cut him off, done with whatever this was supposed to be, "And look at you now, hot shot." He hadn't expected that. Just a minute ago I looked ready to crumble, but now I was turning my desperation into anger. I just wanted this to be over.
****
Mr. Cohen managed to get us out, shortly after. Now the sun was blaring down on us. I had Ryan on one side, and Mr. Cohen on the other.
"My office will be in contact to remind you of your court date."
"Got it," Ryan answered, as our mother's car screeched up to us.
She stumbled out and thrust her poorly manicured finger into my face. "Unbelievable! This is the kind of family I got. Pathetic!"
Mr. Cohen looked like he was the one getting publically berated. "Ms. Atwood? My name is Sandy Cohen. I am Ryan and Hailey's attorney."
"You should have let them rot in there. Just like their daddy. Just like their stupid brother." Then she grabbed my wrist, pulling me to the car, "Let's go! Now!"
I was already buckled in, not wanting a re-run of last night, before Ryan got in. His hand reached back, and I took the tiny card from him.
It was Mr. Cohen's card.
****
Once back at the house, a pit of dread formed in my gut.
Mom had already poured herself another drink, before she turned her attention onto us, "I can't do this anymore."
"I'm sorry Mom," I answered almost immediately. I was always the one apologizing first. I hated myself for it, yet every time I couldn't help myself. The Bambi nickname was more accurate than most people knew. Deep down, I desperately craved some sort of parental figure's love. Dad left, and Mom only cared when it benefited her.
"I want you out! Both of you."
"What?" I stuttered, tears springing to my eyes immediately. Hearing my wavering voice, Ryan was quick to grasp my hand, assuring me we would be fine. She didn't mean it. She never meant it. But the what-ifs always pestered me.
"Come on Mom, where do you expect us to go?"
Her boyfriend answered for her, "You heard her. Out! Now!"
Ryan was pissed, all of mom's boyfriend always treated us like shit. "This isn't your house, man."
"Oh, you think you're a tough guy, huh?"
Ryan's grasp on my hand tightened, and then he dropped it.
"Both of you, stop it." Mom tried, weakly.
But Ryan couldn't help himself, "Why don't you get the fuck out and stop freeloading off our mom."
The guy punched Ryan square in the nose, so hard that my brother stumbled back into me. I saw red.
I stepped out from behind Ryan and went to make my mark, but the guy was quick. He caught my fist in the air, twirling my arm around behind my back, then shoved me to the ground. My lip caught the corner of the side table, and I felt blood start to fill my mouth.
I felt someone lift me from the floor, knowing Ryan was the only one who would touch me after that. If I thought my head hurt before, then this was hell on earth.
We were out the door in minutes. Making quick to get the hell out of dodge.
****
No one wanted to house us. Ryan tried everyone we knew. I tried everyone and their mothers, and yet all we got was rejection. I had one last try, and my money dried up. Reaching into my back pocket, I pulled out the card we received just hours beforehand.
How did it get this fucked, so fast?
I showed the card to Ryan who just nodded, what other choice did we have. Sure the park benches were always an option, but after last time? No way.
Mr. Cohen was the only one to pick up.
****
The house we pulled up to was something straight out of a movie. I didn't even realize people actually lived like this. Talk about growing up on the wrong side of the tracks.
We were just about to go inside before Mr. Cohen stopped us and told us to wait just a little.
Not having any other options we nodded our heads.
Ryan started walking down the driveway, pulling his pack of cigs from his jeans pockets. I followed him down, waiting for him to finish lighting up.
Once he took his first puff, he looked down at my puppy dog eyes. He smoked but hated it when I did it. But I guess he was feeling sorry for me because he handed me his pack.
He turned his gaze ahead of him, so I took one out. Then after a second thought, I took a few more out, hiding them in my jacket pocket.
"Put them back." He chided.
Damn, I thought I was safe. I put most of them back, keeping an extra one. He turned and gave me a look, not having my antics.
"Please, Ryan. Just this once."
"You're getting your once right now," He said, sneaking his hand into the pocket to retrieve his stolen goods. Then he offered me the light and allowed me a taste of heaven.
Looking up, I spotted a girl across us. She was staring at Ryan. Of course, she was staring at Ryan.
Feeling a little out of place, I made my way up the driveway again. These rich people need to lock up their homes more carefully.
I made my way through the backyard, careful not to fall into the gigantic fucking pool in the middle. If I had a house like this, I would swim every night.
I continued snooping around and noticed the back door to the house was also unlocked. I stubbed out the rest of my cigarette and made my way inside.
Making my way around the corner, I was caught by the owners. And Ryan.
"There she is, girl of the hour. Thank you for gracing us with your presence." Mr. Cohen joked, while his wife looked like her head might pop off at any minute.
Sheepishly, I waved my hand and made my way to stand next to Ryan.
"You must be Hailey," the woman said, offering her hand. I shook it while nodding my head. "Great, well, you two will be staying in the pool house. Which I'm sure you have already found." Touche.
"Thank you, Mrs. Cohen." Ryan and I said in unison like the Shinning Twins.
The rest of the night was spent in said pool house. I had wanted to keep wandering, but Ryan wouldn't allow it. So instead we both tried sleeping, tried being the keyword.
****
I woke before Ryan did. Odd, because normally it was the other way around.
Tip-toeing around his sleeping form, I successfully exited the pool house.
I wasn't alone for long before, I heard a slight shriek. Looking inside the house, I saw two doe eyes staring back at me. Then I let out my own shriek. Who the hell is that?
He was clearly younger than Mr. Cohen, but I wasn't aware they had a kid. Unless they didn't, and this was some sort of looter.
Sliding open the door that separated us, the boy stepped outside, ready to question me. But I beat him to it, "Who the hell are you?"
"Huh- Who the hell am I? Who the hell are you? Why are you in my backyard?"
"Wait, you live here?" So not a looter, my first theory was proving to be more accurate.
"Yes!" He exclaimed, "But you don't live here. And you're pretty, but with the cut on your lip, I'm assuming you aren't here to befriend me. So please leave before I get my lawyer dad to throw your ass in jail."
"Well your lawyer dad, just helped get my ass out of jail. So I feel pretty good about my standing with him right now."
This made him falter, "Wait, aren't you supposed to be a boy?"
I just raised my eyebrow at him.
"Sorry, my mistake. I must have heard wrong last night," then to save his ass, he extended his hand, "Truce?"
"Sure, spaz." and I put my hand in his. We awkwardly shook hands for longer than necessary, before I pulled away.
"Seth, but close enough. Wanna play video games?"
****
We played on his living room floor for about thirty minutes before Ryan caught us.
"What the hell Hailey, you left?" Seth swerved his head toward the intruder so fast, that I was worried he was gonna get whiplash.
Answering the question I knew was on the brunette's lips, I said, "Technically Ryan, I didn't leave. I relocated."
I looked to Seth, with his big questioning eyes, "Seth, meet Ryan. Ryan meets Seth. You two are like opposite sides of a coin." Then I smiled at Ryan, mouthing "sorry".
"Hi, Ryan. I wasn't aware there were two of you." That last bit was directed to me. I shrugged my shoulders. "Well, you want to play?"
****
In the next few hours, I received a lot of information. Seth was in love with Summer, a girl, not the season. Ryan was in love with Marissa, the girl from last night. But most importantly, Kirsten, the woman from last night, was in love with playing dress up.
We were currently residing in her room after she insisted that Ryan and I should attend the fashion show later that night. She had heard that Ryan was invited and thought that meant I would want to go too.
Don't get me wrong, in another life, I would eat this up. But, I didn't have high hopes for trying to fit into this richy rich society.
Kirsten had loaned me a dress, light pink silk that dropped down to my knees, with an asymmetrical hem at the bottom.
"That looks great" she smiled. Catching her gaze in the mirror, I tried to smile, but it looked more like I was in pain. She wasn't wrong, it did look great. Probably the greatest I have and would ever look. But I just felt so empty.
No empty was the wrong word. I felt too much, like one wrong breeze and I would fall off the cliff I was on.
"Thank you for the dress. And for your hospitality."
She made her way behind me, patting my back gently, "Come on sweetheart, the boys are probably waiting."
****
"Welcome to the dark side." Seth introduced. We had arrived at the function, and I was trying to stay mindful of why I was invited.
The show started soon after we took our seats. Ryan's Barbie doll, the model-faced girlfriend came out first. Then a slightly shorter brunette bounced out after, and Seth turned to whisper in my ear, "That's Summer." Of course, it was.
He tilted his head slightly to look at me, waiting for my approval. I gave him a thumbs up, then brought my lips up to the shell of his ear, "She's really pretty Cohen. Watch out, I might just steal her from you."
Pulling back, I looked at him and we erupted into giggles.
Once we turned our attention back to the show, I noticed that Summer had already gone back. So much for Seth's five-second glance at her.
I turned back to him one last time, ready to mouth "sorry", but he was already looking at me. I proceeded anyway, but with my cheeks heating up. He just shrugged his shoulders, then reached out to turn my head back.
After the show, Seth and I managed to be separated from the rest of the group. After failing to find our group, we lingered off to the side.
"You know, you could have been up there tonight." he started.
I looked up at him and gave him a smile, "Really? I was thinking the same about you. I could totally see you swinging your hips to be beat up there."
His cheeks turned red, but before he could come up with another witty comeback, Ryan found us. "Guys, we should go to that girl Holly's house. She's throwing a party."
"A party? No- no I'm good actually. I like my house."
Never one to back down from a party I said, "Come on Cohen, what if Summer is there."
That got his attention, cheeks turning brighter by the second.
"Come on!" A girl from the back of the car ahead called out.
Looking at Seth one more time, I wiggled my eyebrows and started walking back. "Come on Seth, you heard the girl." Then I turned on my heel and got into the car.
Looking around, I noticed a certain brunette bombshell was sitting right next to me. She offered me her hand and I accepted, "I'm Summer. You're Ryan's sister right?"
"That's so close, you almost knew my name!" She looked embarrassed and I felt guilty. "I'm Hailey, and yes, I am Ryan's sister."
"Awesome!"
****
I had been at the party for about an hour now, and still no sign of the boys. Not that I had searched too hard for them. Instead, my eyes had spotted the booze fairly quickly, and that ended up with me dancing with some guy. He was cute, but not cute enough for me to stop thinking about Seth. I hoped he actually came out. He needs to experience life a little.
Parting ways with the guy, I motioned to the drinks and he followed suit.
Then I spotted just who I was looking for. "Seth!" I stumbled over to him.
He turned around fairly fast and caught me as I thrust myself into him, going for a hug but failing. He laughed and held me up, hands on my waist. "Hailey!"
"You have a boyfriend?" A voice interrupted.
"Boy-boyfriend, no, no I'm sorry," Seth said to my former dance partner. Who ignored the boy, looking at me instead.
I was bored of him so I just nodded my head and then turned to ignore him.
He must have left as I made my way to get another drink because Seth came to stand right next to me. "How much have you had to drink?" He asked.
"How much have you had to drink?" I tried to counter. He just laughed at me, before a commotion erupted outside.
Noticing Ryan wasn't near us, I had a sneaking suspicion that he might be involved in whatever was transpiring outside. I tried getting through the crowded kitchen, but between being slightly more than drunk and being shoved back by unsuspecting elbows, I wasn't making it very far.
Seth, noticing I hadn't made it as far as he had, turned back to grasp my hand, and then pulled me through.
Once we got outside, I watched Ryan get knocked in the face by some blonde douchebag who shouted, "Welcome to the O.C. bitch!"
What the fuck is happening?
****
We left the party quickly after.
Coming out of the bathroom, I felt refreshed after being able to take a hot shower. Ryan and Seth were sat on the couch by the bed, talking about the night.
When I came out, both boys looked at me and then held up snacks.
We talked and giggled for a while until each one of us had our eyes closing by themselves. Seth had been curled up on one side of the couch for a while now. Any minute and he would be out like a light.
I excused myself to use the bathroom one last time, as Ryan went out for another smoke.
When I came out, albeit I took a little longer than anticipated Ryan and his Barbie doll were curled up on the bed. Damn. That was my spot.
My only other option was the floor, or the side of the couch that Cohen fist rested on. I made my way to the couch, gently pushing his legs to the side, trying to get the pillow that he rested on. I figured the floor was a safer place than being kicked in the head in the middle of the night.
I was trying to be subtle, not wake the sleeping boy, but he foiled my plans. "What are you doing?" he whispered soft, voice clogged with drowsiness.
"Nothing, go back to bed."
He sat up, rubbing at his eyes the way a small child would, "Seriously, Hailey, are you sleeping on the floor?" he questioned.
He made a move to get up, but I placed my hands on his shoulders pushing down slightly. "Seriously, I'm not letting you take the floor. If you're going to be so stubborn, just sleep on the couch with me."
"Cohen, I don't want your freakishly long legs to kick me."
"They won't. Just come on," he said, removing my hands from his shoulders so he could scoot over. "See, enough room for two."
I debated it for a second, I had never slept in the same spot as a boy. But Cohen took my silence as rejection and immediately moved to stand. "I'm sorry, I- I should take the floor."
"No!" I was quick to interject.
"No?"
"No- just lay down again."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive Cohen."
And with that, he laid back down and opened up his arms. I crawled next to him, my back to his chest. He encircled by frame, "Is this okay?" I nodded in response, feeling the sleep hit almost immediately.
****
"Look, Ryan, Hailey, I'm sorry. I don't mean to play bad cop, It's nothing personal," Kirsten started.
Just minutes ago she had burst into the pool house, furious in only a way a mother can be. She didn't even question the fact that I was in her sons arms, only glaring at him and pointing behind her.
Seth got the hint and removed himself from me, following his mom back into the house like a scolded puppy.
Ryan and I made our way in shortly after, headed for the kitchen for one last meal before we were inevitably kicked out.
"I'm sorry, you two seem like such nice kids."
"It's okay, we get it," Ryan answered.
She was nice enough to allow us to stay by the Seth, so we made the trek upstairs.
Knocking on the door, I entered first. "We have to go," I told him.
"You're leaving?" he questioned, clearly sad.
Ryan spoke up, "We have to take care of some things back home."
Seth got up and shook Ryans out stretched hand. They did a typical boy handshake, before turning to me.
Seth and I looked at each other, unsure of what to do. I made the first move, going in to wrap my arms around his waist. I felt him stiffen at first, and then he reciprocated my motion.
When we pulled away he said, "Well, I can't wait to come visit you guys down in Chino. You can show me your world."
****
Our world no longer existed.
Once we pulled up to the house, Ryan and I were met with the shell of our home. Abandoned with a single poorly written letter.
Awesome.
"Come on." Mr. Cohen, our savior, to the rescue once again.
Back to exploring Seth's world instead.
hello sweetie! :D
i see that you want to write about descendants and i would absolutely love to share some requests i've been thinking about.
idk if you write ficlets, headcannons or oneshots, so you can write in the way you feel more comfortable! :)
so, the thing is, uma and harry (separately) x artist!reader (gn please!!) where the reader draw and write music and poetry about their lover/crush. i just want to see how they would react if they seen the readers art bcs i think it would be soooooo cute!
(im so sorry if you can't understand something, english isn't my first language.)
take care of yourself. love u!!
I love this so so much! thank you!
Hope this doesn't end up being too bad, I feel it was a little rushed (not because I felt I was being rushed just that I had a few thoughts that I needed to write before they were gone yk?)
I'm doing it so it's:
Harry Hook x painter/drawer!reader
And
Uma x music artist! Reader
To make it easier to imagine
Also I've kept it gender neutral dw and I've also written it so Uma and Harry are in Auradon when they meet you
Please feel free to request more at any point (I'm going to write for all descendants characters but mostly Harry Hook)
----------------------
Harry Hook
Let's imagine Harry has no idea who you are in the beginning
Some random person that's always seen drawing, painting, creating something.
He's seen some of your works hung around Auradon prep in expensive looking frames
He doesn't approach you for a while, in fact Gil is the first to meet you
Gil takes the same art course as you so you meet there when Gil had a bit of a paint disaster
Harry was originally cautious around you because he thought you'd be some stuck up art critique kind of person who was going to complain about Gil
But when you instead explain that you could see what he was trying to do but the actual execution of it wasn't great , Harry laughed with you
Overall your first meet was a positive one that was the beginning of a laughter filled relationship
Harry would always see you sat somewhere, in some weird position, scribbling away in your sketchbook
He eventually spots what you are drawing, or better yet who.
Him
He crashes.
All thoughts, Gone.
He's just staring at it for a good 5 minutes before you have to click your fingers in front of his face to wake him up.
"H- How, no, why are ye drawin' meh?" Heat rises to his cheeks and he slowly brings his thoughts back to Earth.
He'd already had been developing feelings for you since you two met. I mean you were nice to his friends, kind to him, he let you meet his sisters at one point and they seemed to even like you. You are fun to be around, you check that he's taking care of himself, you make sure he's not too bashed up from the sports he plays. What isn't there to like?
"You have a pretty face, nice to draw." He takes note of the blush that grows on your cheeks and the way you look off to the side with a shy smile growing. "I draw the people I like, the people I'm closest to."
His heart almost stops. Did you just try to kill him?! 'cause clearly you aren't aware of the way you make him feel.
I headcannon Harry to be Pansexual, as a pan person myself, so he was kinda well known on the Isle for being able to flirt with anyone he wanted for various reasons
But let me tell you, not once had he had the air knocked out of his chest from a few simple words.
You take his silence the wrong way and begin packing your things to go find somewhere to wallow in your shame, but Harry just drops to his knees in front of you.
"Please, draw meh, whenever ye want to." He is on his knees looking at you with the happiest smile he can muster and almost puppy like wonder in his eyes. "I'll be yours, if you'll be mine?"
Okay that bit came out a little too easy to him, he didn't really mean for that to happen.
But he can't complain since you agreed!
Everything you create for him, he treats like it's the most fragile item he's ever come in contact with
He's always showing it off though he's so appreciative of everything you do so he wants to show the entire world
When you feel down for not feeling your art is good enough, he's oddly prepared to show every bit of art you've ever given him with reasons on what makes it perfect to him
He may as well be prepared with a PowerPoint presentation on every one of your works he's seen
I fact he's probably prepared one somewhere, pictures, effects, transitions, the whole shebang!
He draws too, almost forgot to mention. I've got a little headcanon of him always doodling pirates on cool adventures when he was younger on the isle. I also like to imagine that there was a time where Evie and Harry liked to draw together but Evie drew Princesses and dress designs and Harry drew pirates which created some childish clashing between the two. So they'd stopped almost as soon as they started their little doodle hangouts
That's offtrack, sorry.
He gives you pictures of you in multiple different styles, each time it seems like he's trying to depict you as an angel of sorts
He also draws the Uma and the crew but he comes to check that he got everyone right with you
ART DATES.
YOU'RE GOING TO ALL THE MOST AESTHETICALLY PLACES HE CAN FIND
He may or may not let you take pictures of him for references as long as he can do the same with you, he's also pretty good at photography so he loves getting new picture of you with some fantastical background making you stand out so much more
Uma
Uma knew who you were when she arrived in Auradon, she'd heard your music played at cotillion
She couldn't complain about it, it wasnt her usual style but it was new and she liked that
When she had officially arrived she would notice you all around
Playing music for parties, proper events, even just around the school
Despite her not meeting you she subconsciously finds her way to you
She listens out for you whenever she can
She ends up actually meeting you thought Evie
Evie was designing everyone's outfits for a party so your fitting time overlapped into Uma's time. Uma didn't mind and in fact took the opportunity to tell you that she'd heard you around but hadn't had the chance to meet you
From then, you became quick friends.
Her feelings developed the more time she spent with you, she just loves listening to your music
She'd like to learn an instrument that would compliment your style of music so you could play together
She helps you with lyrics whenever you need the help
She first finds out that you write songs about your experiences and the people around you by looking at the lyrics for some of your songs
She finds it sweet that although you don't directly mention people, you can share the way you feel to them to those who will listen
But then she finds a song that's for her
I mean who else would it be for, she's the person you spend most of your time with and she's the pretty pirate with blue hair
She definitely looks over the lyrics and gets so giddy that she's kicking her feet with glee, when you walk in and see her smiling at the page she doesn't stop smiling
She immediately asks what you mean and when you tell her she latches onto you
Basically, she asks you out right then and there
Who are you to deny her? Of course you accept
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ───── ⊰
So sorry it took longer than I thought, and sorry Uma's part was shorter thats my dumb lil brain being dumb
This Is Always
From the Love Letter Series
Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal x Josephine Harris (OFC)
The holidays are usually a time to be spent together, cold noses warmed by the fire, and joyful cheers as the New Year approaches. This year, Rosie is struggling with being away from Jo, and acknowledging the future that he dreams of sharing with her. A heart to heart with Crosby helps put things into perspective for both of them.
Read Part 3 Here Follow along with the Love Letters Playlist
January 1944
My Dearest Jo,
Happy New Year, honey pie! It’s just after midnight here, and though I wanted to be the first person to wish you a Happy New Year, I know that by the time you get this, it will be after the fact. I guess by writing this now, while it’s still ‘43 back home, I’m letting myself be greedy in being the first to send you those wishes. I hope you’re doing something fun tonight, and getting all dolled up to paint the town red. Your last letter came just after Christmas, but I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you just how happy it made me to hear that you were still doing all of your usual Christmas favorites, even if I’m not home to carry all your shopping bags back to Brooklyn after a full day in the city. Believe me, I even miss doing that, no matter how heavy some of them are.
I got Ma’s last letter just a few days before yours arrived, and she mentioned that you went by the house to celebrate Hanukkah with her and Jeanie. I know that made her really happy, and I can’t thank you enough for keeping an extra eye on both of them for me while I’m stuck over here. My sister would argue that she doesn’t need anyone keeping an eye on her, but I’m sure she appreciates your company, and will rub it in my face after the fact that she got to spend so much time with you. That’s what little sisters do, isn’t it?
We had a small thing in the Officers Club for the holidays; nothing too fancy, but there was music, and some good liquor that someone managed to scrounge up for the occasion. The Red Cross Clubmobile girls pulled some resources and, even with rationing, managed to bake a few cookies for us. They were good, but they couldn't hold a candle to yours.
I have never wanted one of your Christmas cookies more than after reading your letter, and to know that Jean Crosby took over as the official taste tester this year; oh it broke my heart darling. But, I’m glad to know that you two girls are keeping each other company, and I know that Croz is happy knowing that she’s not alone. I do hope you two aren’t causing too much trouble while we’re away. Knowing you the way that I do, I know that’s a bit of a pipe dream, but one of the reasons I adore you the way that I do.
At the risk of sounding melancholy, I’ve spent most of today wishing I could take you dancing; spin you around until we’re both dizzy, until finally we can ring in the new year with champagne. Crowded on the dance floor at Minton’s, wrapped up in each other. Maybe it’s bold of me to ask, or maybe it’s the whiskey, but would you have allowed me a midnight kiss, Jo? I can’t picture kissing anyone else as the clock strikes twelve, nor do I want to, on this holiday or any other day. I hope that by next year, we'll be able to spend the evening together, and not have to send holiday wishes in letters that take too long to get there.
I dream of you every night, sweetheart, and every night these sweet dreams end with a kiss before I’m pulled back to reality. I’ve been dreaming of the future, and if the real thing is anything like my dreams, I can’t wait for those days to begin. I wonder,do you dream of those days too? Of building a home together, a life that’s just ours. Living in the city, maybe somewhere near Harry and Jean. We could go to the pictures on Friday nights, and sleep in on Saturday’s, warm under the blankets until we peel ourselves from the sheets only because we need to make coffee. I’d spin you around the kitchen while we made breakfast, a record on the Victrola, the two of us tangled together while the eggs burned. The more I think about it, the more it all sounds like a dream come true.
Maybe it is the whiskey talking, but it’s getting late here. Or early depending on how you look at it, and even though we aren’t flying tomorrow, I’m sure the rest of the fellas will be returning from the Officers Club soon enough. I’ll be dreaming of you tonight, sweetheart, and counting the days until we’re together again.
Sending you millions of hugs and kisses, and all of my love.
Yours for always
Robbie
Rosie took a deep breath, and without giving himself a chance to second guess anything in his letter, folded it up and slid it inside the envelope. He’d address it in the morning and drop it off at APO so that it went out with the next mail call; tonight it would remain on the nightstand next to his bed, with Jo’s photo. He was still in his uniform, not having bothered changing after he returned to the Officer’s hut, and was about to take advantage of the empty shower stall, when the door swung open and Harry walked in.
“Thought I’d find you in here.” Harry spoke, hand coming up to loosen his tie.
“Yea, I uh, wanted to get a letter out to Jo,” Rosie signed, dragging his hand down his face. ‘Or at the very least, written.”
“It’s rough around the holidays isn’t it.” It wasn’t a question. Harry knew as well as he did, and he knew his friend was giving him an opening to get his feelings off his chest.
“Probably the most difficult part of all this. We’ve spent every Christmas and Hanukkah together since we met.”
“She celebrates Hanukkah with you and your mom?”
“Jo is the best gift giver in our family, according to my sister.” Rosie grinned.
“Sounds like your sister will be the disappointed one if you don’t put a ring on Jo’s finger when we get home.” Harry chuckled, dropping down onto his own bed, across from Rosie’s.
“She’d have to fight my Ma for the top spot, if I don’t marry Jo.”
The two shared a quiet moment as their thoughts drifted to a place far from England. Far from flak and casualties and torn fuselages. No thoughts of missing friends, mission counts or that damned red light never blinking off.
Rosie knew that Harry understood better than anyone; how it felt to be so devoted to someone, and yet, he felt compelled to ask the one question that, if he had to wager, everyone asks at some point.
“How’d you know Jean was the one?” He asked after a moment, gaze turned upward to meet that of his friend.
“She wanted nothing to do with me when we met,” Harry balked so loudly that it seemed to echo off the walls of the Nissen Hut. “But I knew. I didn’t want to spend another day without her.”
“Just like that, huh?”
“Oh yeah, you just know,” Harry nodded. “When did you know Jo was the one? And don’t tell me you didn’t…”
“Let’s just say I should have opened my mouth a long time ago.”
“Well, better late than never.”
“What if I was too late, Croz?”
Harry stood from his bed, moving around the front to lean himself against the footboard. With a determined gaze, he made sure he had Rosie’s full attention before saying what was on his mind.
“You can’t think like that. You need to believe you’re going home to her, that you two will have a life after all this.”
“God, I hope so.”
“I don’t know Jo as well as you do,” He started. “I only know what Jean tells me in her letters, but it sounds to me like she’s really something. And I’m not just saying that because she went out of her way to befriend my wife.”
“I told her I want a life with her, a future, our own place, Saturday mornings in bed, lazy days…”
“You want the dream.” Harry nodded in understanding.
“Told her maybe we’d move to the city, leave Brooklyn, get a place near you and Jean.”
“Sounds like we’ll be in trouble if that happens, Jo and Jean a stone's throw away from each other?”
“I think the two of us are going to have our hands full when we get home, Croz.”
“I bet they’re saying the same thing about us,” Harry laughed. “And I wouldn’t blame Jean. I’ve been a real handful as of late.”
“Oh yea, you’re causing lots of trouble all the way over here.” Rosie chuckled, propping his legs up on the bed, feet hanging off the edge so as to not dirty the sheets. He didn’t miss the slight look of distress that flashed across his friend's face.
He regarded him carefully; he looked like he had something on the tip of his tongue. His face looked worried, like he had something weighing him down exponentially, and Rosie would allow his friend the moment if he needed it. After all, it was the holiday’s and they were the best source of camaraderie that they had; friends should be there for each other. No one understood that better than he did.
“No, I’ve been a handful…” Harry finally continued.
“Croz?”
“Remember after Munster? When Harding sent me to Oxford?”
“Yea…”
“They double you up when you’re at those conferences, and my roommate, she-”
“Ah jeez, Croz…”
Harry sighed, dropping his head, too ashamed to look his friend in the eye. The moment had turned in the blink of an eye, and he wasn’t sure how to handle it, or get his friend through it. But he’d be damned if he didn’t try.
“I don’t know how to tell Jean.”
“Is this why you kept disappearing up to London? To see her?”
“How do I tell my wife that I slept with another woman?”
“You just do, Croz.”
“That’s the worst possible thing to write in a letter. ‘Honey, I miss you terribly, by the way…’”
“Alright, I see your point. But you need to tell her.”
“This fucking war,” Harry sighed. “I swear, it peels the humanity right from your bones.”
“Then you fight it.”
“More than we already have? More than what we’ve given and lost?”
Rosie knew he was referring to Bubbles, and for a moment he let his mind wander to Nash, and that first mission to Bremen. It would be easy to fold; to pack it up and let the fight take from you more and more. But he would be damned if he’d let it take more from him, and if he had to fight a little extra to make sure it didn’t take any more from his friend, he’d do that too.
“You’re not fighting it alone, Croz.”
“Feels like it most of the time.”
“And you’re fighting for something back home, even if you feel like you don’t deserve it at the moment.”
“I don't deserve her.”
“Yea, you do. And you’ll tell her everything, whether you write it, or tell her when we get home. And Jo and I will be there for you both.”
Harry looked like he was about to respond when the door to the Officers Hut swung open. He turned, half expecting a replacement officer, but was surprised to see Blakely and Douglass, the former with a cigarette tucked behind his ear, and Douglass swinging a bottle of something in his left hand.
“Nightcap, fellas?” Douglass lifted the bottle, and Rosie could just make out the label. Vat 69.
“Where the hell did you get that, Dougie?” Harry’s eyes went wide at the familiar label from back home. A very expensive label.
“Been saving it, so come on, let’s have a drink.”
“No, seriously, who’d you steal that from?” Rosie asked, watching as Blakely gathered four of the glasses the boys kept on their side tables for brushing their teeth.
“I won it in a bet, if you must know.” Douglass grinned, pulling the wax seal from the neck of the bottle before pulling the cork out.
“The details are not of importance,” Blakely chimed in, swatting Rosie’s legs off the bed to take up the space next to him. “What is important is that we’re here, and alive, so stop asking questions and have a drink would ya?”
Douglass poured for the four of them, dropping himself down on the bed next to Rosie’s, while waiting for Harry to join them.
“Any day now, Croz…” he groaned, glass between two fingers as he held it out for the navigator. “It’ll be ‘45 by the time you move.”
“Dougie… fuck off.” Harry stood with a laugh, brushing off his slacks before snatching the glass and taking the seat next to him. “And anyway, we’d all better be home by ‘45.”
“I’ll drink to that.” Blakely nodded, holding his glass up to cheers his friends, the only ones left that weren’t replacement crews, or trapped somewhere in the Stalag.
The foursome sat silently as they sipped their prize whiskey, thoughts turned presumably to home and memories of Christmas and New Years’ spent with people they loved and missed.
“Alright, what would you be doing if you were home right now?” Ev broke the silence, leaning his elbows on his knees, gaze landing on Harry.
“His wife, dumbass.” Douglass chuckled.
“Woah hey, none of that.” Rosie looked between the two, the rules immediately being put into place without having to say them.
They didn’t talk like that, but he assumed it had been a bit too much whiskey already for Douglass, and with there no mission on the horizon for tomorrow, their guards were all down a bit.
“Right, right, sorry Croz,” Douglass held his hands up in apology. “For real, what would you and Jean be doing if you were home?”
“We’d go out for dinner, but I think we’d probably be home for the bells,” he closed his eyes wistfully, and Rosie knew his friend was simply hoping that he’d be able to do that next year. “Dance in the living room, and yea, off to bed.”
Blakely nodded, reaching across to drop his hand to Crosby’s knee in a gesture of good faith, that he felt for him in a way, and was hoping he’d get that moment sooner rather than later.
“What about you?” Ev turned to his right, finding Rosie sitting quietly.
“What about me?” Rosie brought the glass to his lips, taking a small sip and letting the taste linger on his tongue a moment.
“Would you and Josephine be out on the town?” Douglass asked, gesturing to the photo on Rosie’s side table.
“Oh yea, we’d be at Minton’s, dancing until they kicked us out I’m sure.” Rosie laughed.
“Together at the club then?”
“Every year we go dancing on New Years,” Rosie started. “Christmas and Hanukkah are for family, New Years is for friends.”
“She’s more than a friend.” Harry looked at him pointedly.
“She is, and a fella can dream that she’ll say yes when I get home.”
Blakely, who had been pulling the cigarette from behind his ear to light it, fumbled, dropping it to the ground at Rosie’s confession.
“You got a ring?!”
“No, but, that’s my second order of business once I’m back stateside.”
“And the first?”
“To kiss the hell out of her.” Rosie confessed.
“Good man.” Blakely slapped him on the shoulder, a smile on his face.
It was absolutely the whiskey talking this time, but he was among friends. The trust was insurmountable. Between the confessions that had taken place before Ev and Dougie had joined them, and the warmth flowing through his veins, Rosie lifted the glass to his lips to drain it, before standing from his place on the bed. Swiping the envelope from earlier, and a clean sheet of paper from the table, he glanced at his friends with a grin, and offered a two fingered salute.
“Gentlemen, I’ll be back.”
“Where are you going! We still have more whiskey!” Douglass hollered after him.
“Save it for another occasion!” Rosie called back as he pushed through the doors and out into the chilly January air.
He walked until he found a spot under one of the lamp posts, the bench undoubtedly cold as he sat down, but he wouldn’t be out here for long. Just enough time, and privacy, to get the thoughts swarming around in his head out on the page before he lost his nerve.
Pulling his pen from his breast pocket, he carefully let the paper rest on his thigh before he began scrawling his extra note.
Hi Sweetheart,
I know this is coming with no context but, I want you to know how much I adore you. I know I’ve said it in different ways, and a few times by now, but, I mean it. Truly, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’m sorry it took me so long to say it. And to say it from thousands of miles away, with a war on no less. I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to hit me once I’m back home.
Just know that I’ll always, always, carry your heart with the most careful of hands. I’ll keep you safe, and treasure every moment we have together. Anything you want, it’s yours, Jo. A quiet life together, or a herd of children that jump on the bed on Sunday mornings. I’ll make sure you have it honey.
Just know, I’m yours for however long you’ll have me, Josephine. I’m hoping for forever, but that’s a question for another day.
I love you,
Robbie
Hi! I was looking through Magica De Spell’s Wikipedia page today and it says that Magica has a sister named the Wicked Witch of the West, who has children named Witch Child and Warlock. I couldn’t find any information of them online so I was wondering if you knew anything about them, if they exist at all.
If they don’t, do you think you could instead do a character post on Magica’s cousin Matilda? Your old family tree posts helped me a lot in understanding Duck lore.
Aw I'm glad those posts help!! I'm still down for making them 'cause it's a lot of fun for me to find old comics and do some research.
So before I talk about Witch Child, I wanna clarify some things that are relevant to the character.
This is another case where Americans can't stop themselves from taking "sister" and "aunt" literally. Aunt can be used to refer to any older woman in someone's life. Sister is frequently used in stories about witches (because a coven is like a sisterhood/sorority, it's a whole thing). Neither imply blood relation! Even "cousin" is often used to refer to friends/neighbors. Different cultures and languages treat words like that very differently than Americans do.
Witch Child, Warlock, & Witch of the West are all from a very specific time period of Brazilian duck comics where Magica and Madam Mim (from The Sword and the Stone) were living together/dating/???? and interacted with other Disney movie characters. In this specific timeline, the ducks live amongst regular humans which is very strange but you just gotta accept it. Magica also lives in Duckburg I think? It seems like she and Scrooge just run into each other randomly so I believe she and Mim have a house in Duckburg for whatever reason
"Witch Child" is not her name and I don't know why she's referred to like that on InDucks/other wikias. Her name in Brazil (where she was created) is Magali, in Italian she's Maghetta/Maghina/Streghella (inconsistent names in translations are very common), and in French she's Seraphine. None of her comics have an official English publication so again idk where "Witch Child" comes from! But I'll probably refer to her as Streghella for the remainder of this post 'cause it's easier that way.
OKAY now for details:
In Streghella's first comic, Magica gets a letter from a friend asking her and Madam Mim to babysit her friend's daughter. Streghella is whiny and rude and a troublemaker. She ruins a magical career opportunity for Magica and it's pretty funny
Then there's a whole bunch of comics where she just appears for no reason, making trouble. She's a surprisingly powerful witch but she just loves to piss everyone off, especially Mim.
Another important note about Streghella - she was only really drawn by two comic artists during the height of her appearances (in the 70s, pretty much). The above drawings were all done by an artist named Jim Fletcher. But she had a lot of appearances drawn by an artist named Glenn Schmitz, who drew her completely differently.
I don't know if I would've realized these were even the same character if it wasn't documented lol but y'know they didn't have the same resources in the 70s that we have now so they did what they could.
Anyway, from what I can tell her personality stayed mostly in tact through most of these comics. Whiny, stuck-up, nosy, but also very funny and magically powerful. She would occasionally interact with Scrooge or HDL but mostly her appearances were in Magica and Mim comics.
Oh there's one comic where she looks like this for some reason?
BUT THEN what's interesting is Streghella making a few appearances years after her comics all came out. First there was one comic in 1995, then twice in 2011 and once more in 2016. There's also apparently a 2020 appearance but I couldn't get my hands on it :(
In her 1995 appearance she looks really cute but her personality is, well. Personality-wise she's completely unrecognizable. Now Magica makes comments about Streghella always trying to be good and getting in trouble for being good all the time.
(Ignore the bad english translation I was just popping pages into google translate lol)
She's still a troublemaker in the sense that she tries to trick Magica and Mim into consuming a potion that will make them good, kind people. But then the comic ends with Magica doing something nice by choice and it's cute but yeah the character is nothing like her original self.
Her first 2011 comic is where she...wants to go to a Jonas Brothers concert and chats with April May & June online to try and make it happen. Something like that. It follows along with "Streghella is too kind and Magica tries to teach her to be evil" from the '95 comic, but for some reason the colorist made Streghella a brunette. Idk! They also forgot her iconic hat!
Next 2011 comic has Huey Dewey and Louie accidentally traveling to a magic academy. It's very Harry Potter-y? I guess? Streghella is friendly and does some magic. You can tell it's her 'cause of the pigtails and bows. But still no hat :(
In her 2016 appearance, she's been reading April May and June's blog and wants to help them with some problem. Magica is like no be mean and Streghella's like no I want to help! You get it.
This comic is pretty fun. Magica turns herself into Grandma Duck and puts a truth potion into some cake Streghella bakes for the Duck Family and gets a bunch of secrets out of them.
There's also a joke at the end where Daisy accidentally reveals Brigitta's age to everyone (we don't get to see it) but according to this comic, Brigitta is much older than she looks lol Not that we didn't already know that.
Anyway so that's all there is to know about Witch Child/Streghella. She's cute!
Warlock time!
Warlock is Streghella's brother. He's only in four comics total and they're mostly very early comics - his real name is just whatever Streghella's name was at the time but with an -o at the end. If she's Maghetta, he's Maghetto. If she's Maghina, he's Maghino. You get it. He'd probably be Streghello if he had a named appearance more recently.
His personality is not very distinct from Streghella's. He's also magical and a troublemaker. In his first comic he arrives in the mail, in a, like...little jail cell? Crate? Idk? And then Magica and Mim eventually box both kids up into the crate and ship them away.
(Yes that's supposed to be him, apparently.)
He appears in the magic school comic as well...
And that's it! There's not really anything else to know about him.
Last but not least...the Witch of the West! Actually, that's a lie. Least. She appears just the one time. And I'm gonna be honest. I don't think she's the biological mother of these bird children.
'Cause yeah she's a human witch. Idk if she's from another Disney property or if she's supposed to be the witch from the Wizard of Oz. Idk man. But Streghella calls her "mama" and she refers to Streghella as her daughter so I'll take those ones literally.
There's nothing much to say about her - she doesn't have a name and all she does is drop her kid off with Magica and then reappear when Mim and Magica threaten to lock Streghella inside a bottle.
NOW if you're wondering...how do these characters connect to the previously known characters that are related to Magica De Spell?
They do not! The fact that Streghella has made a few recent appearances means you can decide how you want her to fit in, but trying to blend these different canons will not be seamless. You just gotta take what you like. Streghella frequently refers to herself as Magica's apprentice so you can always take that route, too.
Aaaaaaaaaand since you asked, I'm happy to talk about Matilda! God there are too many Matildas in duck comics. I have never met a woman named Matilda in my life. It's fine.
Matilda De Spell (not an official name but I call her that anyway) - Magica's teenage cousin! Is she actually, biologically, Magica's cousin? Probably not. But it's fiiiiiiine.
I did actually scanlate all three comics that Matilda appears in, so you can read them if you'd like:
There's not really anything to know about her outside of these comics. She's tomboyish, spunky, fun. Really looks up to Magica. I think their dynamic is fun and I always like to see more teen characters lol I think I've portrayed Matilda as Amelia De Spell's younger sister but that's definitely not canon, just me trying to stick the blondes together.
Anyway sorry this ended up being such a long response. I haven't had the opportunity to research random duck characters in a while. I hope this has the answers you wanted :)
Eddie taking home (her home) a very drunk Y/N Harrington, and Steve being pissed off because his sister is very drunk, and later talking with Eddie about him letting her sister getting drunk, and Eddie being protective of his gf and Y/N just making faces to Steve and then going to her bedroom to sleep with Eddie
This is really funny and I think I'll have fun writing it :) a little blurb filled with laughs and love
Drunk Harrington
"Baby, I need you to walk," Eddie instructed, his arm wrapped around Y/N as he helped her walk. Her body was dead weight against him, her breath that smelled like alcohol smacking his nose every time she breathed out of her mouth.
"But I don't feel my legs." She whined, trying to focus on feeling the pavement underneath her bare feet. Eddie carried her heels in his other hand, keeping her upright as he knocked on her front door.
"Steve is going to be so pissed. His eyebrows get all scrunched up and he'll point at you like a teacher does while he scolds someone. He's funny." Y/N laughed to herself, the image of Steve in her brain causing her to laugh more.
"Very funny, until he has my ass." Eddie groaned.
"STEVE!" Y/N cheered loudly once he opened the door. Steve's eyes scanned her head to toe. Her eyes were red, she leaned on Eddie like her balance depended on it, and she swayed.
"You got her drunk? Are you kidding me?" Steve snapped towards Eddie, grabbing his sister from Eddie's arms. She stumbled into Steve, latching on to his arm as she tried to stay on her feet. He walked her into the house and sat her on the couch, Eddie following in from behind.
"I didn't get her drunk. She's a big girl, she chose to get drunk." Eddie scoffed, Steve stood in front of him, Y/N mostly blocked behind him.
"Probably because her idiot boyfriend brought her to a party! Did you just leave her there while you did your little drug business? What if something happened to her while she WAS PISSED OFF DRUNK!" Steve yelled, Y/N covered her ears at his volume.
"You think I'm an asshole? No! I didn't leave my girlfriend alone and I don't do my business with her around. Nothing happened because I was with her the entire time. She just wanted to have fun, Steve. I kept her safe and even got her home before curfew!" Eddie defended.
Steve huffed and paced back and forth. Y/N came into Eddie's eyesight as Steve paced. She was using her hands to mock him and mouthed his words. Eddie tried to hide his smile as Steve continued his rant. All of it went out his ears, as he watched Y/N make faces behind Steve's back.
"And she co- ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?" Steve snapped, noticing Eddie's eyes were directed behind him and a stupid smile that he was trying to hide under his hand.
Steve turned around to see Y/N, sitting silently with her hands in her lap. Steve eyed her suspiciously, telling Eddie to sit next to her so he could watch the both of them.
Steve started his rant towards Y/N, she rolled her eyes as he went on and on.
She started to make faces at him, too drunk to realize she was mocking him to his face. Eddie laughed and joined in.
The couple sat together and made faces at Steve as he lectured them. Y/N stuck out her tongue, using her hands to make antlers on the top of her head.
Eddie laughed and copied her. Then started to make animal noises.
"MOOOOOOO"
"You two are unbelievable!" Steve groaned, his hands in his hair as he gave up. He marched out of the room.
"Alright. Playtime is over, time we go to sleep." Eddie said, standing up and grabbing her hands. She stumbled into his arms as he started walking them to her room.
"Maybe we can annoy him with other kinds of sounds in my bedroom," Y/N whispered, her lips on Eddie's neck.
"My favorite type of game," Eddie smirked, smacking her ass as she giggled and ran to her room. Eddie prayed she wouldn't trip over her own feet.
Lucky Number Five
Fives x f!reader
Word count: 2.9k
Summary: the number five has always seemed to follow you around. One day, it all makes sense why
Warnings: none! If you think I missed something, let me know!
A/N: hi! My favourite number is actually five! It always has been and when Fives was introduced I knew he would become one of my favourite characters. And he very much is. Also fun fact: the opening is based off the conversation I had with my older sister when I was little and really is why five is my favourite number. Hope you enjoy 💕
“What’s your favourite number?”
You look up from your toys to see your older sister standing over you. You drop your toys, turning all your focus towards the question.
“Five! ‘Cause I’m five!” You announce proudly. Your sister sits down next to you.
“Mine’s five too” she says. Your eyes widen.
“Really! Why?”
“When I was three my favourite number was three. And when I was four my favourite number was four. And when I was five my favourite number was five. But I think six looks funny so my favourite number is five” she explains. Wanting to impress your older sister you nod along.
“Six does look funny,” you agree with her. You really didn’t think six looked funny, yet five stuck with you anyway.
•~•~•
You’re tired by the time your ship lands on Coruscant. Leaving your home world was a tough decision but you knew you wouldn’t be able to make much of yourself if you stayed there. You didn’t know what you wanted to do with your life, but you did know that you wouldn’t figure it out on your small fishing world. Coruscant had a little bit of everything and you figured it was a good place to start. You had managed to get a small apartment in a somewhat decent area and you had secured yourself a job at a diner nearby. You had shipped your belongings to your new apartment over the past few weeks and now it was your turn to finally arrive at your new home.
Lugging your last few bags with you over the several blocks between the spaceport and your apartment was even more tiring and by the time you finally arrive you’re ready to collapse from the exhaustion.
“Almost there” you remind yourself as you muster up the last ounces of energy you have. You knock on a plain door with ‘office’ written on it. A few moments pass and you’re starting to think that maybe no one’s there and you may be stranded for the night when the door finally opens. A Togrutan man gives you a questioning look.
“Can I help you with something?”
“Yeah I’m here to pick up my key” you say, giving him your name. He closes the door on you without saying anything.
“Prick” you grumble under your breath. The door reopens and he carelessly tosses you the keys.
“Level 8. Room 5. Elevators broken” he says, closing the door on you again before you could even suck in a breath to respond. You huff, slumping a little before you grab your bags again and begin the climb.
When you finally reach the eighth level you breathe a sigh of relief. Walking down the hallway you glance at each door, checking each number until you find number five. You drop your bags and slowly reach up to trace the number on the door. Five. 5. This number always seems to find its way to you. You were the fifth name on the school register. You graduated fifth highest in your class. Your first car was a fifth generation. Now that you think of it, it took you five tries before you found this apartment. None of it was planned. The number five was just always around. You shake your head. You’re tired and are probably reading too much into it.
Unlocking the door, you’re glad to see that all of your boxes have made it here safely. You’ll worry about them later. For now you dig your bedding out of one of your bags and make your bed, ready to pass out in it. You’ll have to start unpacking your things tomorrow and then you officially start at your new job the day after. You fall face first onto your bed, looking forward to your much needed rest.
•~•~•
“Here’s your shirt and apron. You’ll need to get your own black pants. And we’re a no droid establishment so don’t try to smuggle one in,” your new manager - Nara - explains.
“Why would I smuggle a droid in?” You question. Nara rolls her eyes.
“Our last dishwasher decided that he could get a droid to do the job for him so he could slack off. He didn’t last long. Thing is, a lot of people have issues with droids for whatever reason” Nara explains with a shrug. “Because we’re droid free, you’ll see a few of clones in here. They’re usually hungover and will keep to themselves, but a few will try to cause some trouble every now and then. Just grab me or Bill and we’ll deal with them.”
“Clones?” You ask. Nara frowns.
“Yeah. They’re the ones currently fighting against the separatists. Alongside the Jedi. You do know about the war right?”
“Well yeah, but I didn’t know that the republic had clones created.”
Isn’t that a bit unethical you thought to yourself.
“It’s why it’s called the clone wars” Nara laughs.
“I guess my world is so removed from it all. We just called it the war” you shrug.
“Well next time some come in, I’ll make sure to point them out to you. Now here’s your order pad,” she hands you a small device. “It’ll take a little time getting used to, the layout isn’t the best, but you’ll be fine. To log on just press this user button and enter your login number. Yours is five I believe.” Nara clicks the user button and types in the number. Your name appears at the top of the screen.
“Remember that number. You’ll also be using it to clock in and out each day. Now for today you can just shadow me and learn the layout and order pad.”
You followed Nara around, mainly focusing on taking orders and pouring cafs. You were quick to pick things up and by the end of your third shift you were running food and cleaning tables. It wasn’t exactly fulfilling work but it kept you busy and you appreciated that.
A week after you had started, you were wiping down a table when Nara sidled up next to you.
“Here come your first lot of clones.”
You look up and watch five armoured men seat themselves in one of the booths. They were all the same height and they had the same handsome face. It was a little weird to look at five seperate men when they all looked the same. But with a closer look you saw the little ways they differed from each other - two were completely bald, while another had an intricate buzz cut. The two bald men had face tattoos. Another one had a goatee. All of their armour had different patterns all painted the same dark blue colour.
“The boys of the 501st,” Nara continues. “They’re usually a lot of fun, if you catch my drift.” She winks.
“Nara!” You exclaim, not expecting her to say something like that. 501st. There’s that number again. She just smirks and shrugs, unapologetic.
“They can be a bit flirty and mischievous, but overall they’re kind and friendly. They’re perfect for your first taste of clones. Here I’ll finish this.” Nara takes the spray bottle and cloth from you and nudges you towards the newly occupied booth.
“Good morning!” You chirp. One of them groans, causing you to falter.
“Don’t mind him,” the man with the intricate buzz cut says. “He had too much to drink last night.”
“Oh. So one caf for him,” you note.
“Make that one for each of us sweet cheeks!” The clone with a tattoo that wrapped around his head and ended under his eye said. You eye him wearily as you enter the order.
“You’re new here.” This comes from the clone with no physical changes to him. He has a hand print stamped onto the chest of his armour to identify him though.
“Uhh yes. Started last week actually” you respond. He gives you a kind smile, easing you a bit.
“It’s nice to see a new face,” he says. You look at each of them in turn, taking in their features. Their strong cheekbones and their chocolate brown eyes. Their tattoos and haircuts. It must be so weird seeing your own face over and over again.
“I can imagine” you reply with a small smile. It earns you a chuckle and your smile widens a little more.
“I like you. The name’s Echo” he introduces himself.
“Nice to meet you Echo. I like you too.”
“Echo if you’re done flirting, I’d like to get something to eat,” the clone with the republic cog tattooed on his face says, slurring slightly. Clearly he still had some alcohol left in him. Echo flushes slightly.
“I’m not flirting Jesse. I’m being nice!” Echo fires back.
“Hey I don’t blame you, she’s pretty. But can we get food first?” Jesse says. You feel your cheeks warm up slightly.
“Do you all know what you want or do you need some time to look at the menu?” You ask, trying to ignore the slight warmth in your cheeks.
“We’re ready” Jesse claims but the other clone with the face tattoo is quick to speak up.
“Wait I’m not! I don’t know what I want yet!”
“Hardcase!” Jesse groans in annoyance. You chuckle a little to yourself at their antics. They are certainly endearing.
“Well how about I go get you fellas some caf and that’ll give you some time to think about what you want to eat,” you give them the compromise with a smile.
“Thank you,” the man with the buzz cut says. “Could you make his a double. He needs it.” He gestures to the man next to him, the only one yet to say anything. He’s got his head pressed to the table, his eyes closed and his face screwed up.
“Sure thing.”
You move over to the counter, grabbing five cups and setting them down on a tray. Nara is quick to approach you.
“Sooooo, what do you think?” She whispers. You roll your eyes but can’t help smiling along with her.
“They’re definitely endearing. You didn’t tell me that they’re so attractive!” You say, voice low. She laughs.
“Well I had to leave something for you to discover!” She giggles. You pour out the drinks, making sure to make one a little stronger for the man who is still hungover.
“Do you know this group?” You ask as you organise the drinks.
“I mean each time they come in it varies a little. Their captain is sometimes with them, as well as a few others. They usually spend the night at 79s - a club popular amongst the clones - which is only a few blocks away before coming here to sober up a little before they head back to their base for their training. I’ve had a some flings with a few of them, but you have to be careful with clones. They don’t always come back.”
This dampens the mood between the two of you. These poor men are born to die. You vow to yourself then and there that whenever you interact with a clone, you’ll make it a good experience.
“Don’t let this stop you if one catches your eye,” Nara rushes to say when she senses the shift in the mood. “Just be careful. Don’t get too attached.”
You return the caf pot and give her a shaky smile, not really sure what to say. She returns with her own shaky smile before you grab the tray of drinks.
“Alright boys here are your cafs” you announce, placing the tray in their table and placing a cup in front of each man, making sure to give the stronger one to the man who still had his eyes closed.
“Not so loud please” he groans.
“Oh so you can speak?” You say to him. He slowly opens his eyes and when he finally takes a look at you, he bolts upright.
“Whoa” is all he says. You blink, not sure what’s happening. Shaking it off you nudge his caf closer to him with a smile.
“This should make you feel at least a little better.” He accepts the cup, taking a drink from it, however he doesn’t take his eyes off you. Unsure what’s happening, you glance at the man next to him - the one with the buzz cut - who nudges the staring one in the ribs.
“Ow Kix!” He grunts.
“Shush I know that didn’t hurt,” Kix scolds.
Clearing your throat, you pull out your order pad.
“Alright have you got your order figured out now Hardcase?” You ask.
“Sure have! I’ll have the pancakes” he announces proudly.
“Good choice” you say as you note it down.
“Make that two pancakes please,” Jesse interjects and you nod your confirmation.
“May I please get the fruit toast” Echo requests when you’re ready.
“Sure can.”
“And I’ll get the scrambled eggs” Kix says. You look at the last clone to order. He no longer looks hungover. It seems he pulled himself together rather quickly. He flashes you a charming grin and Kix groans.
“Here we go” he mutters. The clone with the goatee ignores his brother as he leans forward.
“What would you recommend?” He questions.
“I’m not too sure. I haven’t worked here long enough to be able to give a good recommendation. The breakfast burger looks good,” You suggest.
“Perfect. I’ll get you one of those.” You add the dish to the order before sending it through to the kitchen.
“Food shouldn’t be too long. Let me know if you need anymore caf” you add, not really sure what to do while the clone with the goatee continued to stare at you. You hurried off, returning behind the counter to do some tidying up.
“Good job di’kut, you scared her off” you hear one of them chide.
You busy yourself with other customers and cleaning tables, your eyes constantly flicking over to watch the group of clones. They were chatting amongst themselves, clearly having fun and enjoying the company of their brothers. After the first few glances at their table, the still unnamed clone started to catch your eye. At first you were embarrassed at having been caught, until you realised that the reason you kept catching his gaze was because he kept glancing at you. Something about you had clearly intrigued him and you were starting to feel the same way about him.
When you were called to grab their food, you were quick to drop what you were doing, looking forward to your interaction with them. It takes you a few trips to get all their food out.
“Could we get some more caf sweet cheeks?” Hardcase asks as you place Kix’s scrambled eggs down in front of him.
“Please” Echo throws in. You smile sweetly at him in appreciation and nod.
“Of course!” You return with the caf pot, pouring some in Hardcase’s cup.
“Anyone else?”
You get a chorus of yes pleases and you go around filling up each cup.
“Careful. This is a new pot so it’s extra hot,” you warn as you top up the last cup.
“Not as hot as you” the clone with the goatee says with a wink, catching you off guard. Your eyes widen in surprise.
“Uh - I -“ you don’t get much time to think of a response before Jesse is groaning.
“Come on, surely you have something better than that Fives.”
His name is Fives. That damn number.
You drop the pot of caf.
“Kriff!” You swear. Nara hurries over at the commotion.
“I’m so sorry! I was just- I just-“ you stutter out, completely frazzled.
“Hey, don’t stress. It’s fine! I’ll go get a mop. Don’t move so you don’t hurt yourself,” she reassures you before she heads out the back.
“Hey, you alright?” Echo asks, a concerned look on his face. You look at him so you don’t have to look at Fives. Because something about encountering the number this time seems different. It’s as if all the other fives have been leading to this one. To Fives. The handsome clone right in front of you.
You do glance over at him then. He looks surprised and a little concerned like the rest of his brothers. Now it’s your turn to stare at him for a little bit before you answer Echo’s question while your eyes remain fixated on Fives.
“Yeah. I am now.”
•~•~•
“Come on, if we stay here any longer we’ll get a scolding from Rex” Kix says.
“Ugh no thanks” Hardcase groans.
“Aw come on. Echo wants to flirt with the cute waitress a little more, don’t you?” Jesse teases, throwing his arm around Echo.
“Kix is right. Besides, I think I’ll leave her for Fives. He seems pretty enamoured by her” Echo responds.
“Yeah, well did you see her?” Fives comments back. Kix stands up from the table.
“Well you can daydream about her all you want on the walk back to base” he says. Fives rolls his eyes, but stands up with the rest of his brothers as they file out of the booth.
He’s following them to the door when he feels a hand grasp his wrist. He turns to find you standing nervously behind him. He gives you his most charming smile and you smile back at him. He can’t help but think that you have such a sweet smile. You press a piece of paper into his hand.
“If-if you’re interested” you stutter. Then you’re turning away and returning to your job. His smile widens as he tucks the piece paper with your comm number on it carefully into his pocket.
You’d be hearing from him very soon.
Gale had always tried to be the nice and helpful boy his mother raised him to be. But yesterday's thunderstorm wreaked havoc on Gale while he was working. After offering to help an elderly lady load her groceries into her car, he ran back into the store from the rain. The bottoms of his shoes, slick against the linoleum tiles, caused him to slip, lose his balance, and fall directly onto his right arm while trying to catch himself.
Despite insisting he was fine, Mary took him to the clinic after his shift. He had an oblique fracture in his ulna bone. Gale felt a little embarrassed by the clunky splint cast they put on in the clinic. He would need to see an occupational doctor in a couple of days for additional x-rays and a more permanent cast.
When he walked through the door, he instantly knew John would have too much fun with this. "Oh, babe," John exclaimed, rushing over to take his jacket.
"I just broke my arm, John," Gale sighed, picking up on his boyfriend's dramatics. "You know what would make me feel better?"
"What?" John shot him a wink as if they weren't in front of both of Gale's parents and his little sisters.
"Ice cream, but if you'd be so kind...could you scoop it for me?" Gale stuck out his bottom lip, and John rolled his eyes dramatically. Maybe Gale could have some fun too.
"You better not be drawing a penis," Gale groaned, scrolling through his Google Classroom to find the assignment he had been working on. John sat on a step stool next to Gale's desk, Sharpie in hand as he decorated Gale's blue cast. Although he most certainly would not be telling John, he picked blue because it reminded him of his eyes.
"I'm not! I'm drawing a heart!" John pouted, his voice defensive and dramatic. "And if you don't want a huge penis on your cast, don't let Everett or Dougie sign it...or Curt."
“I know better than that,” Gale snickered softly and opened his assignment. He tried to rest his hands on the edge of his laptop to write, but the clunky cast made it clear that wasn’t an option. He let out a defeated sigh, knowing exactly what he was going to have to do. “John?”
“Hm?” John looked up from where he was hunched over his phone after Gale had pulled his arm away. Gale weighed his options in his head; he could just use the voice feature to write?
“Will you type for me if I tell you exactly what to put down?” Gale ran a tired hand under his glasses, pressing into his eyes for some stress-relieving pressure.
John’s smile grew from ear to ear, and his eyes crinkled. “Yes!”
Gale didn’t really understand why John wanted to help him so badly with his AP Psych essay, but here they were. John stood up from his stool, and the two switched places. John quickly swiveled the desk chair back and forth, then spun in a full circle with a small, “Weee!”
“Okay, Mr. Smarty Pants,” John snapped his head to look at the blonde.
“Well, first you have to put it into MLA formatting.”
“You think I know what that is? Do you think I pay attention?” His jokes were a little much for Gale at the time, but he knew John was just trying to lift his spirits.
"Okay, go to format," Gale began explaining how to do it.
Later, John helped Gale wrap his cast in plastic shopping bags, and they got in the shower. Gale rested his head in the crook of John's neck, feeling the warm water run over their backs. A moment of silence passed between them, John wrapped his arms around Gale, and rested his chin on the top of his head. "Can I wash your hair?"
Gale craned his neck to look at him, maybe to pass off some comment about not needing help. But John had those big, wide doe eyes that Gale always gave into. "Fine."
"Yay!" John cheered, pressing a kiss to Gale's wet hair.
Gale wasn't going to lie; the feeling of John's fingers massaging his scalp felt heavenly. His eyes closed, his head tipping slightly as John rubbed the suds in with an even, comforting pressure. It was somewhat stress-relieving, although he tried his hardest not to always be stressed. But it's just how he always seemed to be during the school year.
"Relax, baby," John purred into Gale's ear, his shoulders tensing up.
"I'm trying here, John," Gale chuckled softly.
"Do you need assistance elsewhere too? To relax, you know..."
"No, I don't think so, not right now at least. Don't wanna risk water leaking into my cast."
"So when we get out?"
"After you help me with my skincare."
"So, now I am your butler?"
"You keep asking to do things for me."
"It's okay...I will be your butler...always."
AU Bot Plots: Traffic Jammin'
"Crap..." Suki groaned and let her head hit her steering wheel. She was officially late. On her first day of work.
On the bright side, Suki mused, a traffic jam this bad had to have some newsworthy cause, so it's not like her new boss could rightfully blame her. Suki called her supervisor to let her know that she'd be late. Extremely late. Then she ended the call as quickly as she could, and settled herself for the long wait. She had just started an audio book, and she still had her breakfast and coffee, so at least she wouldn't be bored and hungry.
As she listened to her book, Suki's eyes wandered around the parking lot that had once been a busy freeway. There were people staring ahead, looking drained and defeated. More than a few drivers leaning on their horns and shouting what Suki was certain were very colorful and creative swear words, as if that would make whatever disaster happened up the road clear faster. There were some who, like Suki, were resigned to the situation and making the best of it with whatever means were available to them. Then there was that guy.
He was in the lane beside Suki, but his car had stopped half a length behind her, so she didn't notice him right away. She noticed his car first, in her side mirror. It was visibly rocking, and at first, Suki thought it was another driver having a tantrum. His face was screwed up and he was clearly shouting something. Discreetly, Suki turned in her seat to observe him. He wasn't shouting, she realized after a moment. He looked too happy. He was...singing? Whatever song was playing, he seemed to be enjoying it. Suki moved her seat back a bit to get a better look in her mirror. The man seemed to be around her age. Tall, if she could judge while he was seated. He had a full sleeve of tattoos running up one of his sable brown arms, and piercings up the ear that Suki could see. His eyes- a vivid blue- were sparkling with mirth, as if this traffic jam was the most fun he'd had all day.
The cars began to inch forward, and Suki scrambled to put her car into drive so she could creep eight inches up with the rest of traffic. Her neighbor pulled up, too, and ended up right next to her. He was still rocking to whatever was on his radio, and Suki watched with an amused smirk as he put his heart and soul into his air guitar solo. He tossed his head back (shaved sides with the hair on the top of his head loose and falling around his ears) and saw his audience. Suki couldn't help but laugh when he froze and his face turned an interesting shade of dusky rose. Impulsively, Suki rolled her window down and motioned for him to do the same. The man shut of his radio and put his passenger window down.
"You look like you're having fun," Suki said, grinning at him.
"Well, if you can't get to the party, be the party, I always say," the man joked, grinning back.
"I've got to know what you're listening to!"
"It's a new song by my sister's band," the man told her. "They're really good. They're called The Sea Wolves."
"Shut up!" Suki squealed. "I love the Sea Wolves! I saw them play at the Jasmine Dragon last summer. Your sister's in that band? Wait...is your sister-"
"Katara Imiq." The man nodded proudly. "They gave me an advance copy of their next single. You maybe wanna come over and listen?" His face was endearingly hopeful, and Suki bit her lips to fight back a giggle. It was out of character for her to get into a stranger's car...but the traffic didn't seem like it would be moving anytime soon...
Suki turned off her car, grabbed her phone and her coffee and climbed into the passenger seat of Katara Imiq's brother's car. Shaking her head slightly at herself, Suki stuck her hand out to the man.
"I'm Suki." The man took her hand and flashed her a crooked smile that made her heart skip.
"Sokka."
