I got bored,so more info on the YJ as Batkids AU
It started with Conner, he was crying after another …encounter with Superman. Batman has watched it all go down,and he instantly decided, ‘I’m gonna adopt that boy.’ and that’s that,he comforted Conner,and then asked him the million dollar question, “Can I adopt you?” And Conner was quick to say yes.
Next Batkid was Kaldur,surprisingly. Kaldur had an argument with Orin and Mera, it was about his father. Of course it was. It ended with him crying and Zeta beaming to Mount Justice. Thankfully no one was there,he settled down on the couch and just let it out. He was sobbing for a solid 30 minutes. Near the end of his meltdown,he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was none other than the big bat himself. He got defensive but Batman instantly comforted him,he broke down again,ended up crying in Batman’s arms. After a while,Kaldur calmed down,and now he was sleepy,before he fell asleep, Batman asked him, “Would you like to be my son instead?” A nod of the head and Kaldur was knocked out.
Third one was Wally, after a fight with Flash,he stormed off and went to Mount Justice. He wanted to go to the training room to let the anger out but he was intercepted by Batman. He asked him what was wrong, and best believe the flood gates broke. He ended up venting,after he was done he got offered water and adoption.
Artemis was next up. She took it as a joke when the big bad Batman asked her to be his first daughter. She said yes,mainly because GA pissed her off earlier that day. She soon realizes it was not a joke,too late to back out now. At least some team members were there with her.
M’gann knew it was bound to happen,she accepted it easily,she had gotten into a fight with MM,she was sad and low key depressed. She tried to cry in silence,but Batman was not letting that slide,he ended up guiding her through it,she did not hesitate to say yes when he asked “Can I adopt you?”
Zatanna and Raquel actually got adopted at the same time. A mission went haywire,they were trying to comfort each other,but it wasn’t enough. Suddenly Batman was there,he was the anchor they both needed. Batman didn’t even get the chance to ask before they both said, “Could you adopt us?”
That’s how the adopting went,now their rooms at the Mansion.
Conner’s bed has a bunch of pillows and blankets,he replaced all his Superman merch with Batman,he has posters,drawing,figures and so on…
Kaldur’s room has its own personal pool,walk in closet, a desk, and a king sized bed,this fish boy was living the dream. He has a bookshelf full of trinkets,pictures,books and other random stuff, and a bunch of doodles on his walls.
Wally’s room still has some Flash merch but it’s all practically taken over by Batman posters everywhere. He also has a wall dedicated to pictures of the team,he also has his own bathroom.
Artemis’s room was somewhat normal. (She has a Zatanna shrine in her closet.) Moon lights all over the room. And a massive vanity,she has the room with the biggest window.
M’gann’s room is really bright,curtain lights everywhere,pink bedsheets,baby blue walls,and she has LED lights,she has a big mirror taking up half of a wall
Zatanna’s room is. Chaotic to say the least. She has those glow in the dark star stickers on her roof, the most normal thing. Two posters of Houdini. On different walls. A tapestry of Shrek standing in front of the bisexual flag. A million fans everywhere. Cold asf in there. She also painted half a wall Neon Green. Not even the whole wall.
Raquel as I said before,obsessed with butterflies, Butterfly posters,butterfly bedsheets,she even had her walls painted with butterflies. Anytime Bruce sees something butterfly themed he instantly gets it for her.
Sibling bonding time :)
Movie night,they were watching The Little Mermaid to troll tf out of Kaldur,who was not amused. Like 40 minutes into the movie everyone was asleep, Kaldur in the middle and somehow everyone was physically touching him. Bruce walked in,took a few pictures,turned off the tv and threw a blanket over the pile of Bats on the couch.

hi :( thank u for blazing my post. that was really cool of u. (also thank u for pointing out kal's eye color!!! this whole time i've thought his eyes were blue D: )
Thank you for drawing my literal favorite character! Kaldur rarely gets love, and the expression you drew him with was just so lovely and heartfelt that I wanted more folks to see it!
In hindsight I should have asked you before blazing your post, but I got ahead of myself. I’m grateful you don’t mind!
(You’re not the first person to think that! Kaldur doesn’t get a lot of close ups throughout the series so a lot of folks think his eyes are either grey or blue. Easy mistake to make! I just spent a lot of time back in 2012-2016 making “a softer world” style edits with him in them so I spent a lot of time looking at screenshots of his face.)

Chapter 3: the puzzle of man
I'm going to be honest I was going to draw this out more before I had her start this but I didn't know what else to do.

P.O.V: Rose Constantine
Location: Happy Harbor, Rhode Island
Time: 5:15
I paused as I watched the red head in a neon yellow and red suite snuggle Blu, the Cat sith (Pronounced she) looked deeply annoyed but he had been under orders for a long time that he was not to harm a human unless the human had tried to harm me. However for now, he was a small fuzzy teddy bear and seemed to be filling someones dream. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked over seeing a new face, the girl looked to be my age with soft green eyes and long blond hair her suite was forest green. “Oh… ‘ello.” I said softly as she seemed stunned she was a little taller then me causing me to have to look up to her. She shook her head after a long moment before,
“You’re Rosa Right?” She asked and I nodded, once again no one could properly remember my name, I had remembered when I was young it always frustrated me trying to keep people from messing it up especially since it was so simple,
“aye.” I confirmed and she gave me a bright smile, and gently pulled me to the kitchen, or at least what she would have called a kitchen, the lack of a fire stove felt very strange, I knew this was normal after all father struggled at times to handle the wood fire stove.
“Well good, Megan made a good suggestion we should back some cookies and get to know one another, that and I wanted to ask you some questions anyway.” She stated and I smiled softly as she did.
“I donnat knew ‘ow ta use yer oven.” I warned her and she waved me off, as a bowl floated in front of me in the air. I didn’t think twice about it as I was use to things floating with no reason, she sighed softly before shaking her head before she spoke again,
“We can handle the oven,” She stated and Megan tapped me on the shoulder and I looked to the green skinned girl.
“Would you mind if I brought you into our umm telepathic conversation?” She asked I blinked at her and realized that must have been why everyone was so quiet I had heard of such thing before something Da had spoken of.
“Oh… aye I’d like ta know w’at was goin on.” I told her and the next thing I knew everyone’s voices were in my head and it felt a bit like what I had imagined getting thrown into a jar, I closed my eyes tightly for a long moment before shaking my head, Magen’s voice was quickly became the loudest and the clearest.
‘Are you okay?’ She asked and I nodded slowly
‘aye just a bit jarring ‘s all.” I told her a male voice I think it was the Red head who had blu, spoke
‘Oh what?! I thought she’d lose the accent.’
‘Kid’ The single word was clearly the Atlanten and that warning seemed to be enough to silence whatever the Young hero was thinking.
‘nay seein’ as I grew up wit it, It stays.’ I told him and heard Megan giggle and I looked over and I paused The boy had put blu in a hat and he looked pissed.
‘Uhh Wally… that cat looks ready to claw your eyes out’ She warned him I felt my mouth dry out before I thought.
‘put ‘im down ‘e’s not some pet.’ I hissed walking up to him he dropped blu startled everyone seemed startled, everyone had gone quiet and it was Kaldur who spoke first.
‘Would you mind explaining? I understand if you simply don’t wish for your pet-’ I cut him off trying my best to keep my tone gentle as I didn’t want to snap at him as he had been very kind to me and hadn’t done anything wrong.
‘’es a sith, it’s a type of magical creature.’ I told him blu was struggling to get the hat off his head and I walked up to him and gently took off the hat, ‘’nd a ‘igh ranking one at dat, so ‘e can change ‘is form.’ blu gave kid a dirty look and I spoke out loud to my fuzzy little guard, “oh don’t ya be ta grumpy, ‘e didn’t knew and ya do look like a blu cat.” I reminded the fae he huffed heavily lifting his nose and walked off I chuckled softly before I shook my head.
‘I’ve never heard of such a thing, you’ll have to fill me in on it some time later.’ Kaldur stated but it was the young one who spoke.. err thought?
‘Well, Wally is a red head so we don’t have to worry about the Sith stealing his soul.’ I was a little surprised that someone knew what a sith was and was pronouncing it properly.
‘So… it’s not a cat?’ Wally asked as he walked over only for blu to swiped at him and hiss as he fluffed up before jumping to my shoulders and settling there he flattened himself as much as he could and I sighed softly,
“No, ‘e’s not. ‘e looks like one as it’s…. less threat’ning.” I spoke out loud I watched him frown at that comment, the human form he could take wasn’t his real form either but they didn’t need to know that he could speak if he so chose.
‘Less… Threatening?” He asked slowly and took a step back less threatening how?’ he asked and I gave him a soft smile, as I looked down at blu on my shoulder and spoke.
“Blu, ken ya get meh my cook book? Did we bring dat?” I asked and the cat chirped at me and bolted off my shoulder and down the hall. ‘’e’s bigger then t’e wolf in de other room.’ I told them and they went quiet, and the boy with the superman shirt thought.
‘Well… when do we feed kid to him again?’ he asked and I chuckled shaking my head as Robin added.
‘I think we can give it Cream and crackers instead.’ Kid looked to me his eyes wide.
‘Please tell me we can do the dream thing I don’t want to be a virgin sacrifice,’ I had to fight back laughter but no one else seemed to, after a moment I regained my composure after a long moment, and thought again.
‘I well he doesn’t like crackers perhaps some fish?’ I offered and the boys started laughing again.
‘Why would we feed him Kal?!’ I blinked and felt my cheeks heat up.
‘I.. what.. no, not that’s not what I meant that.’ I squeaked in panic I took a step back looking down and bumped in to someone I spun and found the Atlanten, he didn’t look upset actually he looked amused at least till he looked down at me, he gave me an apologetic smile as he placed a hand on my shoulder before he thought.
‘Alright be nice, I think we have canned tuna.’ he stated as his hand left me before walking past me to one of the cabinets, the cookies we had been meaning to cook had been forgotten for the time being. I was still struggling to calm myself down as I heard the sound of a book being set down on the counter it had caught all of our attention and I watched Kid jump sky high out of the corner of my eye as blu spoke to me.
“A bhanrigh do leabhar, agus ged nach biodh suim agam don iasg chan eil mi a’ faireachdainn mar a bhith ag ithe creutairean draoidheil eile.” He stated and I nodded, he’d taken something close to his natural form.
“I don’t thinking that’ll be a problem.” I told him gently he blinked and huffed before he was turned back into the small cat form.
“Was...was that Scottish Gaelic?” Robin asked and I paused before smiling softly and nodding,
“I didn’t think you anyone would know it.” He grinned and spoke cheefully as he bounced un on the counter next to blu causing me to jump, Sure I had heard him but I hadn’t been sure where he was until now.
“I mean I can’t understand it yet but I know what it sounds like it was either that or it was Irish.” Everyone seemed as startled as I was but it Was Wally who changed things back to the mental conversation again.
‘Do not piss off the cat.’ I sighed softly at that but robin despite his hyper disposition,
‘I didn’t strap a hat to the Cat of the chick with no iris and golden freckles, If she wasn’t some kind of fae she was defiantly going to be a mage and I bet if it was Zatanna’s cat she’d have turned you into the cat and released you in a room full of kindergartners.’ I wasn’t quite sure why that seemed like a threat or why it was treated as such by kid who zipped off.
‘Who’s zatanna?” I asked and robin sighed his smile fading for a moment but Artimis answered.
‘She’s one of our missing mages and a friend of ours,” I noticed how her eyes dropped, I bite my lip, I could have told them, I could help but my own worries and fear kept me quiet.
‘I’m sorry,’ I thought softly looking down.

Time: 5:00 am
I woke up blue was curled in a ball on the bed next to me, and I slowly sat up it felt strange to wake up when it felt like I should be going to bed but I shook my head and sighed yawning as I looked around the small dull room and I sighed slowly getting up doing my best not to bother the small fae.
I slowly opened my door and stepped out stretching as I closed it behind me, I walked through the halls, they felt dark and oppressive, even the manor had more light and color, I sighed softly and I frowned, I reached out to touch the wall magic brimming in my hand when I heard a soft voice speak causing me to jump.
“I see I’m not the only one who couldn’t sleep.” I looked up and saw Kaldur standing there.
“aye.” I sighed pulling my hand back as he smiled softly,
“Sunrise is soon… would you like to watch it?” He asked me still speaking softly, I smiled softly and nodded as I started walking up to him.
“That sound nice.” I said softly he smiled and started to guide me, “You don’t seem like the type to struggle to sleep.” I told him and he smiled softly before sighing,
“I find peace when no one else is awake.” I stopped when he said that,
“I wouldn’t want t-” He cut me off,
“I won’t have you, being or feeling left out simply because you are new,” He stated stopping as he looked back at me. “And, you don’t know your way around, I do not want you getting lost.” I slowly walked up to him and gave him a small smile,
“You don’t have to do that.” I told him I gave him a soft smile and moved to walk past him but he caught my wrist.
“You’re right, I don’t. However I truly do not mind and as I said before I do not wish for you to get lost.” He lightly pulled for me to follow and I slowly followed him as we walked out to the beach, my feet sunk into the cool sand and flow over it, I paused for a moment as I’d never really been in sand, I stumbled as I walked farther squeaking as the sand shifted under my feet making me unstable. “Are you alright?” Kaldur asked me as I took a deep breathe and gave him a soft smile.
“I umm yeah.” I said slowly managing to steady myself as I stumbled over the sand and close to the water where Kaldur had sat down. He looked amused as I sat down and he spoke softly.
“You’ve never been on a beach have you?” He asked and I tucked my knees close to myself before shaking my head no,
“Nay, I… ‘onestly I ‘aven’t really left de manor.” I told him and out of the corner of my eye I saw him frown softly before he spoke his tone not shifting despite his frown.
“Why not?” I shrugged and heard him huff softly, I leaned back propping my self with my arms letting the sand cover my hands and I sighed softly.
“Meh da… he thinks meh magic is… he worries someone will take advantage of meh or dat I’ll make a deal.” I told him and he hummed softly before he spoke with a soft smile,
“Well, perhaps this is your chance to show him that you’ll be okay.” He stated and I too found myself smiling, maybe…. Just maybe he was right and I slowly nodded, he had a good point, I could prove to da that I would be fine, but I remembered that my father wasn’t going to just believe me.
“Da isn’t so… ‘e wont trust it.” I told him sighing before running a hand through my hair, as I looked down and he put a hand on my shoulder and spoke in a soft but firm tone.
“You won’t know until you try and if you want this then there’s no reason not to try. I found myself holding my breathe then looked down and spoke softly as the first rays of light.
“I need ta talk ta everyone… I might be able to help.” I told him and he brighten quickly,
“Wait what?” He asked startled his soft blue eyes widening as I stood up. I dusted the sand off my butt, as I took a deep breathe to explain farther.
“I ken wit da right Items track someone, but it ken be ‘ard ‘nd it’s likely it ken’t be given back.” He was on his feet so fast he kicked up some sand,
“Why did you say this yesterday?” He asked and I looked away, he had such soft eyes and I didn’t want to see anger in them,
“Well… der is a risk,” I mumbled softly, I expected his voice to hold more anger instead I heard worrie.
“What’s the risk?” He paused before he spoke again, “I’m not willing to risk someone if it’s going to hurt you.” I shook my head then paused.
“I dunnot knew… I might end up da same place as everyone else.” I stated and as I glanced back at him I saw the harder look on his face.
“And if things go as planned?” He asked I let out the breathe and looked at him fully,
“If I’m right… if I’m not affected by dis spell since I ‘aven’t used same magic as Da den I.. I’ll be okay.” I told him, “I just need sometin dat one of de missing people owned.” I could tell he wasn’t sure about this. And he lowered his head softly before he spoke.
“I’ll talk to the league about this I don’t want to go off on a hunch.” He told me firmly, then let out a heavy sigh and sat back down before he tapped the sand next to him. I slowly sat back down next to him and looked out at the rising sun.

Do You Believe in Magic?
AYO second day in a row can you believe it? I come with more content.
Fics Masterlist
Wallynette Oneshot 3.1K words (no warnings apply) Summary: “What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?”
without further ado:
“That’s ridiculous!” He was pacing back and forth, arms waving in the air to compliment his theatrics. “Magic shouldn’t be able to do that, it defies all logic!”
“That’s the point! Magic exists outside of logical reasoning!” The shorter girl was equally as furious, standing in place and growing redder by the minute.
“Nothing exists outside of logical reasoning! Everything can easily be explained with science.” The redhead had paused his pacing to stare down the noirette before him. He was uncaring of his volume, ignorant to how his voice echoed in the large cave. “Your Lucky Charm is nothing more than transdimensional materialisation. An already pre-existing object is broken down into subatomic particles and rearranged at your location.”
“Are you really trying to tell me how my own Lucky Charm works?” She had sounded absolutely livid at the assumption. And Dick had to agree with her. Wally was in no position to tell her how her own powers worked. Before he could interject the screaming match between his two best friends, she was going off again. “And are you really trying to tell me that somewhere in the world existed a red and black-spotted doughnut just waiting to be used? That when Antibug was around a ladybug patterned flamethrower was just lying somewhere?”
“Oh please, there are plenty of flamethrowers all over the world and they probably only appeared ladybug themed due to shifts in light refraction.” He had stopped waving his arms around and crossed them in front of his chest. He was standing in her space now, leering over her trying to be imposing. “Simple fact is magic. Isn’t. Real.”
“You can run faster than the speed of sound! If you really think it was your precious science that saved you after willingly striking yourself with lightning in hopes of tapping into a cross-dimensional ‘speed-force,’ then you’re dumber than I thought.” She had gotten even closer now, pressing a finger into his chest and pushing him back.
“Are they still at this?” Kaldur had walked up beside Dick with two soda cans, silently offering him one. His voice sounded tired, visibly annoyed at the constant bickering.
“An hour and counting,” he sighs. The sounds of their bickering slowly faded into background noise. “For today at least. But they’ve been butting heads ever since she’s joined the team. Kinda exhausting.”
Marinette, a.k.a Ladybug, had joined the team after Wonder Woman deemed Paris officially safe from any more magical mayhem. While the rest of Paris’s heroes chose to retire and preserve the rest of their teen years, Marinette did not have that option. Magical Guardian and all. The JLE welcomed her with open arms and Wonder Woman decided to introduce her to the Team. She got along great with M'gann, the two could almost always be found baking or exchanging recipes in the cave’s kitchen and they, plus Artemis, went on frequent shopping trips. Conner saw her as a little sister, which was unexpected but it probably had to do with the fact she was a whole foot shorter and he had natural instincts to protect those who looked meek. She was anything but meek but first impressions were a damning thing sometimes. Marinette was Kaldur’s biggest supporter, always ready to back him up when it came to tough Team related decisions, something born from her own experience as a leader. The two understood each other the best. She also related to Dick on the importance of secret identities and while the Team still only knows him as Robin, she was the only one who never pestered him on it, respecting the lengths he would go to for the sake of anonymity.
Wally was the only one the newest member clashed with. Magic skeptic, meet magic connoisseur. Unstoppable force, meet immovable object. They almost never agreed on anything. Every time the two were left alone for more than two minutes it evolved into a screaming match. Wally was insistent on pushing all of Marinette’s buttons and she was always eager to defend herself and magic as a whole. Her rather short fuse didn’t make matters any better. It hadn’t affected missions, arguments reserved for the safety of the cave, but it was only a matter of time before that became an actual issue. He voiced as much to Kaldur who agreed with only a contemplative nod.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s moments like these where Kaldur hated when Robin was right. At least he was on another mission with Batman so he didn’t have to bear witness to this fiasco.
The Team was currently in Louisiana investigating the disappearance of Dr. Kent Nelson, better known as Dr. Fate, the Sorcerer Supreme. And Wally was being argumentative with Marinette while simultaneously trying to impress M'gann. It had put Artemis on edge and she kept taking jabs at him whenever an opportunity arose. And even when one didn’t.
They had just barely escaped the pit above lava, standing above the cool platform.
“Don’t worry, Megalicious,” Wally had moved to support M'gann, throwing an arm above her shoulders, drawing her into his side. “I’ve got you.”
“Enough!” Artemis had cut in between the two of them, pushing Wally away from the Martian, her frustration palpable even from where Kaldur was standing. “Your little ‘Impress Megan at all costs’ game nearly got us all barbecued.”
“When did this become my fault?”
“When you lied to that whatever it was and called yourself a true believer.”
“Wally, you don’t believe?” M'gann sounded hurt at that. Wally looked across the room, before coming to a silent conclusion.
“Fine, fine! I lied about believing in magic. But magic is the real lie, a major load.”
“I can’t believe you’re still on that.” Marinette, who had remained silent before, finally entered the conversation, ready to defend her craft. “We just fell over five hundred feet below ground into an almost fiery death and you still don’t believe it? Was the magically appearing Tower not enough? Or the fact that our feet are not being scorched right now?”
Wanting to put an end to this conversation, Kaldur said his piece.
“Wally, I have studied for a year at the Conservatory of Sorcery in Atlantis.” He had crouched down, rubbing the surface of the floor. “The mystic arts created the skin icons that power my water bearers.”
“Dude, have you ever heard of bioelectricity? Hey in primitive cultures fire was once considered magical too. Today it’s all just a bunch of tricks.”
“What I do is not a trick. Do you really think destroying the Eiffel Tower, and putting it back in place is just some trick? Or how about when an old akuma was able to control the weather and created a volcano in the middle of Paris? Were those all tricks too? Were the casualties just results of things that don’t exist?” Marinette was becoming increasingly agitated as her rant went on. M'gann moved to comfort her, embracing her slightly.
“Don’t put words in my mouth! I never said the lives lost weren’t real! It was tragic, yeah, but that was due to real scientific explanations.”
“Science can’t bring people back from the dead.” Her voice was more subdued and sombre and her shoulders were curling into her body. The atmosphere was increasingly getting more depressing so Kaldur grabbed onto the latch, hoping that making progress into the mission would revive the Team’s energy.
He ignored Wally’s protests about heat backdrafts and came face first to a rush of frigid air.
“Do you ever get tired of being wrong?” Artemis was rather smug as she threw a smirk over her shoulder. Kaldur just wished the rest of the mission wouldn’t be like this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Artemis was going to tear her hair out. Or probably Wally’s. Yeah, she was going to tear Wally’s hair out. It had been a week since the Dr. Fate mission and he still hasn't apologized to Marinette. His refusal to believe in magic was not only screwing up the team dynamics but it was forcing Marinette’s hand, pushing her to dig up trauma, to try and prove to him that magic is real. Artemis didn’t understand why it was so important to her that Wally believed in magic but it was and that was enough for Artemis to stand by her friend.
The two haven’t even spoken to each other since the mission and it was painfully obvious that Marinette was avoiding him. Valid, but still aggravating when it put everyone on the team on edge. Artemis wasn’t one to play peacemaker, leaving that to Kaldur and Marinette, but since this ongoing conflict involved the Parasian, and Kaldur had his hands full with a mission in Atlantis, someone had to step up and that person was her. Wonderful.
She had tracked Wally in the medical facility, tinkering with some of the equipment and taking inventory of their supplies, a job Red Tornado routinely asks him to do. She skipped any greeting and just started plucking items out of his hands. Ignoring his protests, she kept going until his hands were empty then grabbed his wrist, pulling him into the training room and shoving him into the center ring.
“Shut up and stay,” was all she said, crossing her arms and freezing him with a glare. She wasn’t in the mood for any of his gimmicks tonight. The sound of the zetatubes announcing the Ladybug designation alerted her to Marinette’s return from Paris. Time for the next part of her plan.
“Don’t move,” she said as she turned to retrieve the other person for her plan. A firm ‘I mean it’ was tossed over her shoulder as she left.
Collecting Marinette was easier said than done. Artemis was headstrong on a good day, she will admit, but now as a woman on a mission she was down right intimidating and she knew it. Marinette took one look at her expression and bolted for the zetatube she just stepped out of. Artemis was having none of that and was able to grab the much shorter girl before she could get any further. While Artemis was mentally applauding herself she was also begrudgingly impressed with how difficult it was to hold the girl. Dragging her to the training deck was becoming more trouble than it was probably worth.
Artemis could pinpoint the exact moment Marinette’s eyes landed on the speedster because her efforts doubled and she almost escaped Artemis’s grasp. She dropped her gracelessly on the floor and moved to block the exit before either could do anything.
“Neither of you are leaving until you work out your issues,” she was huffing from exhaustion, both mental and physical. “Whether that means punching the shit out of each other or talking it out like normal people: I don’t care. But no one leaves this room until you two stop screwing with the team dynamics.”
She left no room for arguments and turned to stand outside the exit, giving them some semblance of privacy. If they didn’t work out their issues here, Artemis’s plan B involved Connor tossing them into the far end of the coastline. Hopefully, Wally and Marinette were reasonable enough it wouldn’t have to come to that.
Oh, who was she kidding?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wally stared at Artemis’s retreating figure and then at a very interesting spot on the cave wall. He felt like an asshole all week and, after his experience with the helmet of Fate, he knew he would have to be the one to mend the ever growing gap between him and Marinette. Still, he couldn’t face her yet. Every time he looked at her, or saw her hastily leave any room he was in, his mind flashed to those haunting words she had said.
Science can’t bring people back from the dead.
He knew that. He knew there were harsh limitations on what science can and can’t do. Magic shouldn’t have been any different. And he thought he understood what she had to deal with during her time in Paris but he was wrong. He was so painfully wrong that it took his body being overtaken by a mystic ‘Lord of Order’ for him to really comprehend that. He just… He just couldn’t wrap his head around someone so young being entrusted with so much power. Magic was inexplicable. It defied reason and was unpredictable so he never understood how someone as self-assured as Marinette could put her faith in something that unreliable. So he lashed out at her. Then he did it again. And again so much so that he can’t remember ever having a civil conversation with her.
He messed up and he knew it but the shame he felt in the past week was too much for him to handle and he couldn’t bring himself to speak.
“Look,” his head snapped to the sound of her voice. She wasn’t looking at him, holding herself for comfort. “I’m sorry for ignoring you, I didn’t realise it was affecting the rest of the team.”
No. no no nonono.
She shouldn’t be apologizing. She had nothing to apologize for and Wally is the ass in this situation not her so why is she apologizing? He needs to fix this. Fast.
“You don’t need to apologize,” such a terrible start, Wallace. Congratulations. “I was the one who pushed your buttons and called magic a big trick.”
She had lifted her head slightly but her gaze still wasn’t focused on him, rather she was looking beyond him just above his shoulder. He took a step closer and when she hadn’t made a break for the exit, he took that as a good sign.
“Listen, Marinette,” her eyes dart to and away from him in an instant. He didn’t let that stop him though. “All those times, times when I called magic fake or belittled its legitimacy, I wasn’t trying to hurt you. I was just trying to wrap my head around its absurdity.”
“It doesn’t matter what you were trying to do,” she finally locked her gaze on him and the pain swimming in her eyes was going to burn him alive. “You still hurt me. You took everything I did, everything I’ve learned and lost and loved and called it a hoax, you called it unreal, and you doubted everything I’ve ever accomplished. I have memories I may never recover from because of magic, scars that will never heal from something you didn’t want to believe in.”
There were unshed tears in her eyes and Wally wanted to brush them away. He didn’t, but fighting the urge was herculean of him. He didn’t get the chance to respond, though, but he wouldn’t dare interrupt her.
“Did you ever realise how those arguments affected me? I used to look up to you, Kid Flash, before joining the team.” He never knew that. Why didn’t he know that? “You were always so cheerful and the media framed you as someone who believed in the impossible. That was something I needed back in Paris. Because there was nothing more impossible to me than ever getting a chance to defeat Hawkmoth.”
She was openly crying now, her cheeks blotchy and eyes red. Wally didn’t know what to say so he took a chance and opened his arms to her. A silent invitation, a quiet apology. Whatever this little spitfire needed from him. He would willingly give it.
She took the offer and crashed her face into his chest, hands grabbing fistfuls of his shirt. He wrapped his arms snuggly around her, almost crushing her to his chest.
“I needed someone who believed in the impossible to believe in me.” Her sobs were heartbreaking. Wally could only caress her on the back in a futile attempt to comfort her. “That someone was you but then you had no problem looking me in the eye and saying you don’t believe in magic. How could you?”
“I am so sorry, Marinette.” He could never apologize enough. He was willing to dedicate his life making it up to her. He was silently praying to gods he also didn’t believe in that she would let him try. Before she could say anything, and he felt the hitch in her shoulders as she was taking steadying breaths to do so, he continued.
“I never knew what I—Kid Flash— meant to you. I only argued against magic so much because I didn’t want to believe that something that unpredictable was the only thing keeping someone like you safe. I heard all the stories; Wonder Woman loved to gush and brag about her mother’s successor, but I could never believe that someone could do such incredible things by magic alone. It was mind boggling.”
Wally felt more than heard the faint gasp at his confession. He pulled her off his chest, holding her a short distance by her shoulders, so that he could look into her eyes.
“I’m really sorry; I don’t think I can ever tell you how sorry I am.” She needed to know how genuine he was. He may clown around a lot but he was absolutely serious in this moment. He hoped she could see the sincerity in his eyes.
“I—,” she cut herself off, and Wally could see her growing frustrated with her own loss of words. She opened her mouth to speak again but she was interrupted.
“OH just kiss already!” Artemis’s rough voice echoed in the room and Wally’s gaze flashed to where her back was facing them by the entrance. She looked uncomfortable standing there but clearly she had an agenda she was seeing through. He didn’t pay her any more attention as he focused back on the increasingly red girl still within his grasps. The hurt that was previously in her eyes was quickly replaced with embarrassment and she couldn’t look Wally in the eyes.
He felt a sudden rush of confidence at her demeanor and hoped he wasn’t about to make the second biggest mistake of his life. He bent his head slightly, casting a smirk at the small girl.
“Well, if that’s what the people want,” he pulled her closer to him then, her mousy ‘eep’ sounding adorable in response. He cupped her chin between two fingers, tilting her head up. “May I?”
She didn’t speak but her answering nod and slow closing of her eyes encouraged him to close the distance between them.
Wally’s been struck by lightning before but it doesn’t compare to the feeling of her lips on his. Her lips tasted like slowly drying tears and her favourite vanilla lip balm. The kiss wasn’t perfect, her lips were slightly chapped, as were his, and their noses bumped into each other, but it was the best kiss of his life.
They broke away from the kiss but neither moved far from each other. They stayed like that for who knows how long. Staring intently at each other, committing the other’s face to memory. And as Wally stared at her tear streaked face and into her slightly red and puffy eyes, he came to a single conclusion.
He definitely believed in magic.
An AU of DC with a mass crossover of PS4 properties.
Provisional name: Players Searching for Detectable Changes (Get the pun?)
The setup:
This is the future of DC, a world where the old guard has slowly withdrawn and the newer generations have risen to the occasion. The original Titans in particular, most of which have formed the new Justice League while many other, very similar teams had started to form across the world. One of which was a resurgence of the Teen Titans, led by an older and purified Raven. She wanted to make the Teen Titans something akin as it was for her, a place to belong and learn to use one's powers.
The first 'class' of such individuals include:
Stargirl (of the now-disbanded JSA and still getting used to the Starrod)
Blue Beetle III (Freshly attached to his alien symbiote and freaking out a bit)
Robin V (to work on his anger issues, mostly at the new Batman's request)
Kaldur (a half Atlantean half metahuman who is struggling with his identity and the surface world, Aquaman feels a kinship for the boy seeing their similarities)
Static Shock (a promising new hero but little experience working outside his city or in groups)
Mary Marvel (she's... she's going through alot. Fresh from a coma, her brother is distant as he acts as the new Wizard, and she may be, sorta kinda, being corrupted by Black Adam's gifted power)
The team was rough and there was plenty of head butting (Mostly between Stargirl and Robin/Damian as one is almost the unanimous leader while the other thinks he should be) but they were getting there. They were more of a clean up crew for the Justice League, they did more than the "kiddie missions" that the Outsiders didn't do, and they meant more than the PR grab that was the International team. Though they didn't seem to amount to more than that. They still did their best, pushing past the silent ridicule, as they went about their missions.
This may be why tempers were so high that day.
One day, outside a little city by the name of Weller's Point, the prisoner transport for the villain Plasmus had an "accident". Released and awakened the creature went on a rampage, heading ever closer to the populated area. Luckily, the mentor of the New Teen Titans could teleport. The new team did fairly well in the fight, though they did struggle a bit as Plasmus was not a being where simple brute force would work. It made the fight tricky and more than a bit... messy.
Messy enough that juvenile and emotionally compromised Mary Marvel lashed out against the downed villain but was stopped by her teammates... things escalated from there. Restraint turned blows and the whole team struggled to stop their powerhouse without hurting her. The ones who do the best are Raven, Stargirl, Blue Beetle, and oddly Static.
While both of the former could use their abilities to restrain her to a very effective degree Static was actively draining her of strength, or at least of the electic aura she was radiating and blasting with. Frustrated, done with the situation, and a bit petty Mary launched her largest attack yet by saying her magical word.
SHAZAM.
Virgil did what he did best, he handled that lightning as it came crashing down towards Mary and the Titans restraining her. Well, he tried. The bolt was just too powerful, too unlike anything he had ever encountered. He could not handle it and it was dissipating, if anything it clung to him or tried to jump towards the girl. He had to get rid of it and he had to get rid of it quickly, safely too if he could help it.
He shoved it into the ground, into the power lines. He did it as carefully as he could, trying to prevent overload or flashover as guided the charge into the power grid.
What happened next was a combination of a few things. 1. The Mystic and transformative properties of the Lightning, 2. It is effectively being filtered through a bang baby, 3. The kryptonite power plant owned by, provided by, and operated by Lexcorp.
This interaction, this new charge, cycling through the power grid interacted strangely with a number of devices but none more so than PlayStation 4s and the devices connected to them. This new electricity changed things, literally. It brought fantasy into reality.
Whatever game was loaded into became a part of our reality in a small way. Sometimes TVs, Controllers, and even the system changed to reflect items from the game but the bigger change came with the Players. If a person was playing their console during the surge then they would become a metahuman with abilities based on the playable character they were playing.
The city, the county even, was now flooded by an abundance of metahumans and items of varying power of devastation. Static felt horrible.
He couldn't help but compare what has happened here to what happened in Dakota City but on a wider scale. And this time it was his fault. His sense of responsibility wouldn't, couldn't, let that stand. He had to fix his mistake and his team was dragged along for the ride.
The story to follow is a mix of Final Crisis and Kingdom Come with a bit of the Young Justice cartoon in events and themes, a few twists and likely a bit lighter in tone but to the DC geeks this should give a rough idea… Maybe a bit of Marvel's Civil War but hopefully not the rushed knee-jerk mess that that ended up being.
But it's here that I start having issues with my planning. One part in worry as outside the set up we start to follow the perspective of OCs (something rarely smiled upon) and another part in wondering which OC to focus on.
Now, one thing I love in fiction is progressive powers and the conflict escalating from the different paths people take in said progression. In that vein, I have a pair of protags in mind as well.
The main two/co-protagonists:
The Lawkeeper- a cop before the change and now a member of a task force made up largely of those affected by the surge. A gamer, a man of color, and a believer of the spirit of the law. He doesn't always get along with his fellow officers but he believes in what the blue does. He believes that an organized response is what is best.
His abilities are based on those of Jesse Fades of Control. Meaning he has tremendous psychic potential but he needs 3 things to reach his full potential.
1.Items to bond to so he can generate these psychic abilities. Jesse's used altered items of her universe to get thematic abilities from them (ex: a safe to generate a shield, a carousel horse for a dash ability, ect). Here he can use items generated by the surge.
2. A patron/partner entity to help guide, give insights, and empower. It also let's the user enforce reality, basically becoming an anti reality warper.
3. A bonded morph weapon or a weapon to come to his hand when called.
The knight- a recent college graduate who instantly decided to go the route of the caped hero. She, after figuring out how to get her powers to work, instantly went the route of a caped crusader. Going out to the streets, saving lives, stopping instances of surge item abuse, and (in the humble opinion of the local Police Department) getting in the way of operations. In her opinion they were taking too long to get things done.
Her abilities are based on those of Prince Noctis of Final Fantasy XV. This means she has tremendous physical and magical potential but like the above she has a number of check marks needed to gain access to the character's full power.
1. A gem/crystal to draw power from.
2. 13 magical weapons to boost strength. The generated game weapons will do and I have most picked out in a way that likely would help the plot progress.
3. The blessing of 5-6 gods.
4. A power ring of some king to channel all this power.
I keep debating the two above as I do like the idea of both of them climbing in power and clashing over conflicting ideals of what to do with their power. At the same time, I think that just smooshing aspects of both into one (which is actually where they started, a single character) and play off the different ideologies of how best to help people from within her friend group and precinct along with internal conflict. Maybe have the one be a fellow officer they butt heads with because of the... precarious nature
Another OC I was thinking on, keeping with the theme of what to do when you have power, is a thief who played Persona 5. Like both of the above they would be crippled in their ability to use their abilities without a way to fake the connection to. In this case, without the Mementos App, they would need an item that could affect or enter the hearts of others. Luckily, more unlucky really, there are plenty of items floating around that can do just that. Namely Keyblades.
Most other Players are an odd mix but most are variations of the Shooter build. Peak physical humans who heal quickly and often have bullet time. But there are enough other variations to cause trouble. Demigods of unreal strength, men and women who can easily tap into a patron for powers from the outside, 2 variations of spider powers, cat eyed men and women who can cast magic with simple gestures, and so much more. But the real issue was the first two, the demigods without a parent to protect them and those easily connected to a divine source.
The disembodied New Gods of Apocalypse were very happy with those groups. For how bad this can be please look at what happened to Mary Marvel in canon Final Crisis.
Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.
hey!! First of all I really like your YJ art, esp that new art of Gar (tearing at my heartstrings a little bc ughhh I want him to be happy ya know). also I love how you draw Dick, idk how exactly but the way you draw him is just so on point. :D
also, this isn’t a *big* deal but usually the “young just us” tag is used mainly for the original 1998 Young Justice comics, to distinguish from the TV show since they have pretty different characters and plot (in the comics, for example, yj was founded by Tim Drake, Bart Allen, and Kon, and characters like Dick, Wally, and Kaldur were never on the team). YJ (the show) takes up a lot of the Young Justice tag, and though I do like the show a lot, comics fans needed another tag for just comics content and “young just us” became a popular one because it’s a quote from a founding member of the team in the comics (Bart). That’s why if you look through the “young just us” tag it’s mostly the comics team, not the show team.
I figured you probably hadn’t realized there was any distinction or why, and I saw how you added that tag, in case you wouldn’t mind avoiding the tag when talking about just the show, if you could.
Hey there!! Oh wow, this is actually the first time I getting one of these. Aww thanks so much!!! I'm so happy to hear that, and like same, ugh I also want Gar to be happy. Oh, and I love Dick! He's like my favorite Robin (Like I love the others just as much too tho but, yeah). I'd always try to draw him the way I pictured him to be and still try to keep it as accurate as possible. So, I'm glad you like the way I draw him!! :D
Also, OMG I'm so sorry, I hadn't realized that! You know, I've always wondered why it's young just us and why there's Young Justice stuff there... And now I know why. It's specifically made for just YJ's comics content for comics fans since, like you said, the show takes up a lot of the Young Justice tag. Anyways, I'm glad you pointed that out because I wouldn't want to take that away from you comics fans. Again, I'm so sorry. I'll avoid the tag when talking about just the show from now on, and I promise to do better! <3
My Friend Got Turned Into A Werewolf
Part One Unusual Reunion
Tagging: @melyaliz @dilpickledd @coffee-randomness @speedypan
A/N Werewolf AU that features Annabella and Kaldurs daughter Aquata (mine) and Gigi and Bart's son Red (@melyaliz )
The cold winter air of Gotham bit into Reds skin and he shivered tucking his face into the collar of his jacket. He had forgotten how harsh the Gotham winter could be, how it always seemed to have that strange edge. Glancing at the street sign he sighed fighting back another shiver.
It was late and even he shouldn’t be wandering the streets. Still he knew he was close to his destination, at least he hoped so. When was the last time he had come to her place? He sighed when he realized he had only come once, the first and only time, for her housewarming party. Now he felt silly, what if she moved away? No, he didn’t think so, Aquata wasn't the type of person to move just because.
He stopped at the corner again and spotted the high rise just a block away, he looked up seeing some of the lights on despite the late hour. But he focused his gaze higher up, remembering she had the top floor all to herself. Though he couldn’t help but frown when he noticed that the lights were off. Was she even home? Or was she asleep already? Or back to an earlier thought did she even live here anymore?
Red couldn’t help but groan, he should have called, texted, hell maybe even sent an email. What was he even doing here? He wasn't sure completely. They haven’t talked in awhile, and Red wanted to, what? Catch up? Make sure she was okay? Again he could’ve just called but for some reason that didn't seem like it was enough.
He was being stupid, he needed to get back and just talk to her at a more reasonable hour. Turning around he began to head back in the direction of the subway stop when he felt it. A sudden rush of rage so powerful it made him stumble a bit, holding onto the corner of the building he was standing next to. For a split second he saw an image of himself leaning against the side of the building looking up and then everything went dark.
Buzz buzz buzz
Buzz buzz buzz
Aquata groaned as she rolled on her bed and placed one of her pillows over her head.
Buzzzz buzzzz buzzzz
Why did the building intercoms have to be so loud? Aquata sighed as she got up and checked the time, who was here this late at night?
Buzzzz
“Hello?” Aquata finally answered trying to rub the sleep out of her eyes.
“Aquata.” Red whimpered, making her freeze. There was something off about his voice. “I need help.”
Silence followed and Aquata quickly got up grabbing her robe that she kept at the foot of her bed. She rushed out to the elevator and frantically pressed the button.
“Red!” Aquata shouted as she rushed out of the complex looking around frantically. She could see blood on the ground and felt her heart drop. Following the blood she quickly found him slumped against the building.
“Red.” Aquata breathed out as she kneeled next to him examining his condition there were deep gashes in his shoulder that were bleeding profusely. “Red can you hear me?”
His eyes fluttered open and he looked at her in a way she couldn’t really figure out.
“Hey.” He said simply swallowing hard and wincing.
“Red we need to get you to a hospital.” Aquata said, slipping off her robe and ripping pieces to tie around his wound.
“I can't.” Red breathed wincing at the pain the slight pressure caused. “I think something bit me.”
Aquata stopped and looked down at him carefully, not good. “Red what bit you exactly.”
“I dont know.” Red mumbled, losing his focus. “Something big, so many teeth.”
“Red stay with me.” Aquata said looking at the wounds with more care.
There were too many, more than one bite. So that means it was an attack. A bad one however, the teeth didn't manage to hit anything vital. Carefully she made Red get to his feet urging him to move his legs.
"Come on just a little more." She whispered as they reached the door, thankful that the lobby was empty.
The elevator ride up seemed to take forever but once the bell dinged she sighed as she continued to drag Red alongside her.
She had no choice but to make him settle on her couch. Rushing over to her bedroom she grabbed the first aid kit then rummaged through a trunk of special items she tended to keep on hand. Grateful for the fact that her mother always made sure her children were prepared for anything. Hands full she settled next to Red and removed the blood soaked fabric from his wounds.
Now with better lighting Aquata could see the sheen of sweat that was developing on his forehead. Not good, if Aquata was right and this was indeed a werewolf bite, then the transformation was already taking place. There was no way to stop it now, Aquata simply prayed to all the gods that the amount of venom that was put into him wouldn't kill him.
Focusing on the current task at hand Aquatas hands began to move. Cleaning the wounds as best she could and adding herbs and potions that would hopefully draw the excess venom out. By the end Aquata was covered in sweat and Red was passed out but he was breathing.
Carefully she adjusted him in a more comfortable position and went to go clean up. She watched as the blood ran down the drain. She wouldn't be able to do this alone, he was going to need better help than her. Once the water turned clear she shut it off and grabbed a towel. Her phone seemed to wait for her on her nightstand and she sighed. Here goes nothing.
"Hey Google." Aquata spoke as she finished drying herself up. "Call Tyler."
She wrapped the towel around her body and picked up the phone as it rang walking out into the hallway and peeking at Red from the entrance.
"Hello?" A tired soft voice answered.
"Oh sorry Cason." Aquata rubbed her eyes forgetting just how late it really was. "Sorry I wouldn't be calling if it wasn't an emergency."
"Is everything alright?" Cason asked a little more alert and Aquata couldn't help but smile, always so sweet.
"I need to ask Tyler something, is he there?" Aquata continued, she heard some shuffling over the phone then Tyler's sleepy voice came through.
"Hello?"
"Tyler, I need to know something… is there anyone from your pack still left in Gotham?"
"No, why?" Tyler asked, confused.
"Then I think there's a rogue running around here."
Note
artemis and/or kaldur for the headcanons ask meme :3c
waaaa my childrennnn i gotta do BOTH
Artemis:
2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod
-This Year- The Mountain Goats
-How to Rest- The Crane Wives
-Uma Thurman- Fall Out Boy
-Living it up on Top- Hadestown
the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to
She always falls asleep curled up somewhere most people wouldn't think to look. It's from years of knowing how to avoid Lawrence. Will has found her under the couch before. it's happened enough so he knows to leave her alone.
the game they'd destroy everyone else at
Capture the Flag. She will kill you. she doesn't tag you out she takes you down. RIP in pieces
the emoticon they’d use most often
<3 or :O
what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep
Groucho. Grouchy. Quick to silence anyone who speaks to her. there's a scale from 1 to 10 about how important and issue is. if it's not a 7 or higher you're going to be glared at in such a way that you'll wish you were 5,000 miles away  from her wrath
their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.
if she has class, she prefers coffee to help keep her focus and wake her up. However if she's got some off time or is trying to relax she likes lemongrass tea or mint.
how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump
Reading, or spending time with family. Getting herself lost in the pages of a good book takes herself away from the world full of problems and difficulties and allows herself to review it with fresh eyes when she comes out of the book. Reading was always a safe haven for her when she was little, and it still is now.
Sometimes however she can't always get into a book, and that's usually because she's more bothered or exhausted than she wants to admit. When this happens she goes on walks or tries to distract herself by hearing what others are up to.
what they wanted to be when they grew up
She wanted to grow up and have wings. She didn't care what she became, but being able to fly away from home and go anywhere she wanted and leave whenever she wanted was important to her.
their favorite kind of weather
Mid-winter weather. A majority of her childhood, her father was always away working in the winter it seemed. She was often alone, but he'd always bring food or money the few times he returned. She didn't have to deal with him a lot and it also allowed her to develop a sense of independence. she felt more confident making friends and having them over to hang out. She had more time to figure out who she was. Even as an adult, Artemis is the most productive, upbeat, and happiest when it's cold out.
thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?)
Beautiful. She has a LOVELY voice. she's shy about sharing it though, so only the original team has heard it. It's something that she sees as hers and hers alone. if you've heard her sing it means you mean a lot to her and she trusts you
how/what they like to draw or doodle
Not much of an artist, but if sh does doodle they're sharp, quick and geometric. a repeating cube, an arrow or two, or several cross hatching patches in the corners
Kaldur: (my beloved)
2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod
-She- Dodie
-Would That I- Hozier
-Nobody- Mitski
-Canary in a Coal Mine- The Crane Wives
the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to
Usually the floor of wherever he was working. he loses track of time and just passes out.
the game they'd destroy everyone else at
Most card games. He learned very quickly how to count cards when he first came to the surface. he had no idea that was considered cheating and was deeply upset to discover that he'd been unintentionally dishonest......not uh...not upset enough to stop counting though.
the emoticon they’d use most often
;O; or ;3
what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep
He doesn't hear anything. He gets to a point where he just switches to autopilot and hopes to god no one asks too much of him. speech is difficult, and often his sentences don't make any sense because he'll switch between Atlantean and English.
their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.
Hot Chocolate. he tries very hard not to have it because he doesn't want it's meaning to fade.
how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump
Often times Kaldur doesn't realize he's in a slump. He's always had trouble processing when he needs to take a step back until he's in that bad place. Wyynde is good at being able to tell and is even better at getting him to take some time off to relax. Sometimes he calls Garth just to talk or clear his head. Other times his body just picks a time to rest, but only when he's gotten particularly bad.
Putting a more gentle addition onto this, in Atlantis, sea Anemones are considered pets, and very adorable ones. Kaldur actually has two in his surface apartment that he likes to watch when he's feeling stressed or tired. they're very calming. The pink one is named Phillippe and the orange one is named Calypso.
what they wanted to be when they grew up
Swordfish. he would be very fast and have a sword on his face. any questions?
When he was a little older he considered teaching, but he wasn’t overly certain of anything. he just wanted to see the surface world. so the aqualad opportunity was very lucky for him
their favorite kind of weather
Warm and sunny, with a cool breeze. Spring basically. it's very refreshing.
thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?)
Decent voice, but he doesn't really like to sing
how/what they like to draw or doodle
He tries very hard to focus and take notes when he needs to, but sometimes he gets so bored that he can't pay attention anymore and doodles various emotions in the corners of his paper. they look like catcrumb doodles
on YJ’s time-skips, and why I see value in them
I know a lot of people in the Young Justice fandom aren’t very pleased with the long time-skips, because they end up cutting out mass amounts of character development and important events. To some level, I agree. It feels as though we were cheated of some amazing moments.
But at the same time, I have to admit it: it’s one of my favorite aspects of the show. In fact, it’s something that I’ve been drawing a not-insignificant degree of comfort from lately. Because here’s the thing: we watch the original Team grow, and change, and develop into full-blown adults in a way that, had they chosen to eliminate the time jumps, we would never have seen. (Don’t kid yourselves. If they’d gone year-by-year, we’d be in Year 4, maybe Year 5, not Year 10, by this point. We never would have gotten to Year 10, because of how long seasons take to produce. We might never have even gotten the show revived.) There’s a massive amount of value in that, because A) we get a very fascinating look at character development that we don’t usually otherwise see, and B) on a more personal note... it’s a little reassuring to me, as someone in their late teens, to see the tangled, young, naive Team from the first season grow into a maturer, wiser, stabler, and in many ways better Team from the third and presumably fourth season.
See, Artemis and Dick might still be going through all kinds of grief, and M’gann may still be struggling with learning that she can’t lie to people to make them feel better, and Conner might occasionally still have angry outbursts, and Kaldur may still be learning how to be a leader, and Wally- well, you know. But here’s the flip side.
Conner’s learned how to control his anger, and he’s made huge amounts of progress, and he shows that anger management works, shows that you can choose who you become. We even get to see him pass down that knowledge to Brion. He’s found peace, even through all the turmoil. He’s discovered that he doesn’t have to destroy things: he can build them, instead.
M’gann is still struggling with knowing how far to go, but she has made progress. She represents the idea that sometimes, learning what’s right and what’s wrong is a process, and it may take a long time but you can change, you can learn, and even a little progress is better than none at all. Becoming a psychologist shows she’s trying to learn why what she did was wrong, and she’s trying to keep others from going down the path she did. She’s trying to learn how to help and understand people without the crutch of her powers.
Kaldur has moved on through some horrible things. He has a boyfriend, now; he’s moved on from Tula, he’s healed and made it through. He hasn’t let himself be defined by his father, and instead has grown far past him, much like Artemis. He’s a confident and stable leader: he believes in himself now. He knows what he can and cannot do, and he knows he’s worthy of the mantle of Aquaman.
Wally- well, we’ll see how the fourth season goes, but we even saw bits and pieces of how he changed in the second season. He was comfortable with handing down the Kid Flash mantle; he knew that he was worthy of it, had found the security he never had five years ago. The Wally West of Season One would never have passed on that mantle for fear that he was being replaced. But five years later? He knew he’d earned it, and knew that Bart needed it more than he did, and took great joy in passing it on.
Dick’s still learning, but he’s found a place where he can be comfortable leading. He’s still figuring out how to separate himself from Bruce’s methods- no better representation of that than the utter chaos that was Batman Inc.- but he is figuring it out, he is figuring out how to build his own legacy, how to be himself and not the big bad Bat. That’s evident in something as simple as how he trains with the team, in how he allows himself to be a little more open- if not very much- than his mentor, in how he’s left behind constantly keeping his secret identity. He trusts much more than Bruce, and though he has a long way to go, he’s learning.
Artemis... oh, where do I begin? Losing Wally hurt her, but we watch her learn to pick up the pieces, learn to move on, learn to find herself in the mess. The pain is there, and she acknowledges that, embraces it, and then moves past it. She knows now that her family and upbringing don’t define her; she’s confident in her identity in ways she never was in the first season. There is no desperate desire to prove herself anymore. And more than that, she’s beginning to work toward helping others who struggle with the same things she did. She sees herself in Tara and she does what she can to help her heal. Her story is powerful and relatable: healing from something terrible, and then using her  experience to help others heal too. I can’t tell you how much I look up to Artemis.
I could go on. Will, Zatanna, Gar, Ed, Jaime, Cassie, Bart, even Jade, I could go on and on and on- I won’t, because this would get to be ten thousand words if I did, but you get the picture.
See, they’re all still growing, all still learning; they’re not finished by any stretch of the imagination. But they have learned, they have grown. That’s what YJ is: a story of growing. And things have gotten better. They have futures. They’re more confident in themselves. And as someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of hope for the future, some days? That means more than I can say.
We wouldn’t have gotten most of that without the time jumps. The events that pass and shape YJ couldn’t have all occurred without them. That kind of development doesn’t happen in a year. You don’t change that dramatically in a few months. Life just doesn’t work that way.
So look, you can hate the time gaps as much as you want; if you’re someone who didn’t like season three, that’s your opinion, and I respect it. If you disagree, I respect that. But I think they make the show unique, maybe a little better. It feels like something I can learn and grow beside. It feels like a reminder that despite things being truly horrible right now in the pandemic, the world will move on. It feels like a promise that I, too, like the Team, will grow and learn and find hope, even in the darkness, even if I’m flawed. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.
Lake Trip
By: SassyShoulderAngel319
Fandom/Character(s): Young Justice - Jason Todd/Robin
Rating: PG-11/T-
Original Idea: Just came to me in the shower.
Notes: (Masterlist)(By Character)(About Me) Takes place sometime between S1 and S2, after Kaldur’s “betrayal.” ( @what-even-is-thiss coined the term “Mud Fic” for a piece of fic that has no context, and that’s what this is.) Also I will admit I didn’t realize how long this was until I finished it and highlighted it all to bring over here... 1,932 words... @welovegroot @jason-redhood @jason-todd-squad
^^^^^
“Robin!” I shouted, watching the second boy to take up the mantle fall off the tube being pulled behind the speedboat in the lake.
Conner raised the orange flag, signaling to other boaters not to come near because there was someone in the water. The boat slowed down, under Nightwing’s careful driving skills, and started to turn to circle back to Robin.
“Wait. Where is he?” Artemis asked.
Robin’s head wasn’t bobbing around.
After a moment, his life jacket—the one with the worn-out straps that Conner had advised against wearing and Robin had retorted not to tell him how to live his life—popped to the surface.
“He’s still under,” Garfield said, voice shaking a little.
Nightwing swore under his breath and as Conner moved to hand the flag to Artemis and take his shirt off to dive in.
From my position at the bow of the boat, I jumped to my feet, moved the window out of the way, ran down the boat, jumped up the back bench like it was stairs, and launched myself over the two-and-a-half-foot aft deck, diving in.
I hit hard. The angled plane of my chest smacked into the surface hard due to the angle I dove in on making my chest parallel to the water. The impact knocked the breath out of my lungs as I plunged deep under the surf, wasting no time in heading in the direction Robin had gone under. Once my entire lower body was underwater, the violet scales of my tail appeared from under my skin. My two legs melded together and turned into my tail. With a high-pitched, dolphin-like whistle, I used my echolocation to look for Robin in the murky lake water.
I got a hit a moment later, ahead of me. I pushed harder, trying to reach him.
The rest of the team knew I was Atlantean. They just didn’t know about my tail. Kaldur had legs and lived in Atlantis—so they didn’t even suspect that I wasn’t a biped one-hundred-percent of the time.
After mere seconds, Robin’s unconscious form emerged from the murk. His ankle was caught in some sort of aquatic vegetation—the freshwater variety that I wasn’t familiar with.
With a twist and a flick of my tail I was down at Robin’s ankle, freeing it from its tangle with the plant.
I swam back up and held his back to my chest, hauling him so his head could break water.
By the time we both broke surface, I pretended to take a deep breath of air. They knew I could breathe underwater but they also knew the transition between breathing one to the other could be a little rough.
“Aquamarine!” Nightwing called. I never told him my actual name since he’d never told me his. So he was Nightwing to me and I was Aquamarine to him.
I shook my hair out of my face. “He’s not breathing! He got caught!” I shouted. The boat was getting closer off to the side. I looked around wildly. If I pulled myself onto the aft deck of the boat, I would reveal my tail to everyone. Which I wasn’t sure if I was ready to do yet. “I can’t give him CPR on an unstable boat. He needs solid ground… I’ll take him back to shore. It’s faster than the boat.”
“You want your life vest?” Artemis called.
“Nope! I’m Atlantean!” I kept Robin in the lifeguard hold, his chin cupped in my hand to keep him abovewater. “I’ll meet you guys at the shore nearest the cabin!” I gestured behind us at the shore. It was a half-mile away at least. I could still swim that faster than the boat could get back to the marina. Even with Robin braced against my chest. “And I’ll try to call an ambulance while I’m at it!”
“Just be careful!” Nightwing called. “That’s my brother!”
“I know. I will be!” I started backstroking away from the boat with one arm, fighting the minor current caused by the boats.
“Here!” Conner called, throwing the orange flag at me. “Keep that up if you can. So you don’t get run over.”
“Sure thing.” I took it in my hand and raised it. Using my tail, I started swimming toward the shore. Robin in one arm, on top of me, and the flag in the other arm. The boat sped off when I’d swum a safe distance away.
A half-mile swim was nothing with my tail and my powers. I urged the current to aid me rather than fight me and a decent wave washed Robin and I ashore in a few moments.  When my legs were no longer submerged, my violet tail vanished. I dumped the flag in the rocky sand and rolled Robin onto his side. His two mirrored curls on his forehead dripped to the sand.
I used my hydrokinetic powers to draw the water out of his lungs. “C’mon, Rob, breathe,” I pleaded while also grabbing my phone from the bag I’d left on the beach.
He didn’t move. His pulse was weak under my fingers when I checked it.
“Fine,” I muttered, pushing him onto his back and starting chest compressions with one hand, the other dialing 911. Thankfully Atlantean muscles were dense to withstand the pressure of deep water, so I was strong enough to do compressions with one hand until I could plant my phone between my shoulder and my face. While it rang, that was exactly what I did. Thankfully I didn’t have to wait long.
“Nine-one-one, what’s your emergency?”
“Hi, I’m at Happy Harbor Lake and my friends and I were out boating and one of my friends flew off the tube and smacked the water hard enough to knock him out. His ankle got caught in some plant life underwater and it held him down. He inhaled some water. I got him to dribble it out and I’m giving him CPR but his pulse is weak. He and I are alone on shore for the moment because we were close and I couldn’t do CPR while on a rocking boat. I think we need an ambulance. He’s not breathing. Our friends had to get back to the marina first. I can give you the address of the cabin we’re staying the night in that I can literally see from right here.”
“Alright.”
I recited the address while still doing chest compressions. I took a moment to breathe into his mouth when the dispatch lady was talking, confirming that the ambulance would be sent ASAP.
My hair was sopping wet and I was probably ruining my phone but I had to stay on the line. I could get a new phone, but I couldn’t get a new Robin.
^^^^^
Jason woke up with a huge pain in his chest. He groaned.
“Oh. Yeah. I had to separate your ribs from your sternum,” a familiar voice said.
He peeled his eyes open. Aquamarine, the Atlantean who replaced Kaldur after his betrayal, was sitting in the uncomfortable wood chair of a hospital room with her legs crossed, looking tired.
“How come?” Jason complained.
“You weren’t breathing and your pulse was weak. I had to do CPR. It’s just cartilage. It’ll reform and you’ll be fine.”
“Where… where’s Batman?”
“On his way. Nightwing and the rest of the team are in the waiting room. But since I’m the one who did all the work in saving your life, they figured I should be the one to be in here with you when you woke up.” Aquamarine threw some of her hair off her shoulder. “Sorry about breaking your ribs off your sternum. I’m stronger than the average human and it’s also necessary for proper CPR.”
“I know,” Jason said with a small grunt of pain. “Doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck.” He paused, holding his ribs. “Thank you. For saving me.”
“It’s no problem. That’s what we do as a team. We look out for each other.”
^^^^^
I smiled at Robin gently. He looked pretty bruised from the impact of falling off the tube and me giving him compressions, but I knew him. He was a resilient kid.
He grunted as he shifted on the hospital bed, holding his ribs.
“Hey, try not to move, Rob,” I said. “Your ribs and sternum are separated. The cartilage needs to reseal them.”
Robin settled. He had a cute face under the sunglasses and mask and swim goggles. I’d never seen his whole face bare until entering the hospital room. “Sorry, Aqua,” he said. “Just—” He winced. “tryin’ to find a—more comfortable position.”
I made a face. “Should I go get Nightwing?”
“No!” Robin’s exclamation made him clutch his ribs but wasn’t loud enough to be heard from the waiting room. He shook his head. “No. Don’t call Nightwing. Please.” His eyes—sharp blue—bored into mine.
“Okay. I won’t call Nightwing,” I said.
Robin relaxed. “Thanks.” He winced again and held his torso.
There was a long stretch of silence between the two of us during which I stared out the window toward the sky.
“Hey, Aquamarine?” Robin asked, breaking the silence.
“Hmm?” I looked away from the window.
“I dreamt about you while I was out,” he said.
“That right?” I smiled.
He nodded. “Yeah. I dreamt you had a mermaid tail. Probably because you’re Atlantean. It was purple. That’s how you saved me so fast,” he said.
“Huh,” I said. “Interesting.” I rubbed the back of my neck. That probably meant I’d have to tell him that I actually do have a mermaid tail sometime soon. When he didn’t come back up and his life jacket was broken, I shouldn’t have been so reserved at keeping my little secret from the rest of the team. I still didn’t know what I was so afraid of. An emergency like Robin possibly drowning could have been a fine moment. But I’d resisted. For no good reason.
“Yeah. Anyway…” He reached up and touched his face. “Oh. My goggles are gone.”
I nodded.
He shrugged. “Welp. If I stayed on this team much longer you’d find out my name anyway. ‘Sup? I’m Jason.”
I smiled and gave him my name in return. “Nice to meet you, Jason.”
“You too.” He shot me a wink.
The door to the hospital room burst open—and a very familiar man burst in.
Bruce Wayne.
Wait. Bruce Wayne?
Batman was Bruce Wayne?!
Why did that make so much sense?
I didn’t know a whole lot about the cultures of the surface world yet, but I knew who Bruce Wayne was. The team talked about him a lot.
“Jason!” Wayne exclaimed. Then realized I was in the room. “Oh. Aquamarine. What are you doing here?”
“She saved my life, B,” Robin—Jason—said.
Wayne looked between me and Jason, blue-grey eyes settling on me. “You did?”
“I’m Atlantean,” I said. “Swam him a half-mile to shore in a lifeguard hold, drew the water out of his lungs with hydrokinetic magic and gave him CPR until the rest of the team came to give me a break and the ambulance picked him up.” I stood and held my hand out for him to shake, giving him my name.
“Thank you. For saving him,” Wayne said.
“It’s what a good team does for each other,” I replied, looking past him to Jason, whose crooked grin made his eyes twinkle with mirth and mischief. “Look out for one another.”
Siofra, Luana's biological mother, was from a noble Fae family in Gemworld. Not wanting to go along with her family arranged marriage she fled to Earth; sometime in the late '80s. Fearing her family would track her; Siofra kept traveling Earth. One of the most notable places she stopped at was Siquijor, Philippines. The magic of the small island cause Siofra to stay longer than normal. In doing so Siofra met Diwata Villena; an apprentice witch. The two would become lovers and traveling partners.
In the mid-'90s the lovers made a stop in Hilo, Hawaii. Like what happened in Siquijor; the magic of the island caused Siofra and Diwata to stay longer. In doing so they met Leo Kekoa who worked as a part-time tour guide. It was Leo who fell in love first. He tried to spend as much time as he could with the women. Siofra and Diwata were no strangers to having another person in their relationship. Leo himself seemed fine with this as well. The issue came when Siofra decided it was time to move on. Leo wasn't willing to leave and even Diwata was ready to find a place to call home. Talking it over Siofra agreed to stay; assuming that her family has given up their search.
Leo and Diwata married a year after into order for her to gain U.S. citizenship, she also started up her own business; similar to where she studied and worked at during her apprenticeship Siquijor.
Two years later both Siofra and Diwata turned out to be expecting. The women had homebirths; Siofra giving birth to Luana a few days before Diwata gave birth to Marisol; Luana's half-sister.
The family of five was content with the lives. It changed when Luana and Marisol were seven. Siofra's assumption was wrong; it had taken a long time but her family finally tracked her down. Siofra fought against family members that came to take her back to Gemworld. However, when one cousin threatened to harm her children she stopped her attacks. Forced to go back to Gemworld; Siofra was denied from saying her farewell to her children and spouses. Luana's last memory is watching her mother disappear through a portal.
Hero Information
Code Name: Mana Place of Origin: U.S.A Residence: Hilo, Hawaii Affiliations: Kekoa family, The Team, The Outsiders (S3) Powers and Abilities:
Mana Manipulation - A combination of life-force manipulation and magic; Luana is currently the only known user. Similar to a life-force user; a mana user can draw energy from their surrounding. However, mana relies on spells and magic objects to create the user desired effect.
Energy Projection - This is created without a spoken spell; by the users will. The user controls the shape, intensity, and range of the attack.
Mana Form - Formerly a sealed power; the seal was broken when Luana underwent experiments when in Reach custody. In this form, Luana becomes a begin of pure mana. Luana doesn't have full control of this power. When she uses it she will draw in mana indiscriminately; this is dangerous in high tech areas. As she will take mana from the close living things she can find.
Occultism - The mystic arts have been around Luana all her life. Along with her research and training with her mother Diwata and Zatanna. Luana has a great understanding of magic; by no means does she know it all, but she is willing to learn.
Spell Creation - Due to her powers needing spells to better focus the energy, Luana is skilled in form spells for her needs.
Non-Vocal - There are a few spells Luana doesn't need to say aloud to use. Currently, these spells are barriers, levitation, and telekinesis using mana.
Potions - Studying beside Diwata and using her talents in herbalism. Luana can brew potions with the desired effects of her needs or the request.
Weaknesses:
Iron - Because of her far heritage; iron has the ability her contain and hurt her. In small doses, iron will have similar effects to allergies; mostly hives and feeling sick. After an hour or so Luana will start to feel better. Large doses of iron will cause more problems and she might go into anaphylaxis shock.
Basic Human Weaknesses - Even with her powers and heritage; Luana is still part human and has the weaknesses of one.
Emotions - Her powers in some way are connected to her emotions. They can affect the size and strength of a spell if she is not careful.
Mana Reliant - Luana is very dependent on her powers when in a fight. When joining the Team Luana was barely even a novice in hand-to-hand. Even with her now begin more capable in hand-to-hand, and even a few weapons. She will fall back to her powers.
High Tech Areas - Since her power relies on energy found in or around organic/living begins. High tech areas pose a problem to not only Luana but her teammates. As she doesn't want to pull mana from them to weaken them.
Vocal Lose - Since Luana's powers need spells to focus them. If she was to lose her voice she would be limited to her non-vocal spells.
Weapons: On Luana's suit there are four gemstones each holding one object. All Luana has to do is touch the gem to activate them.
A wand with a small amount of stored mana
A staff with a larger amount of stored mana
Siofra's spellbook
Her spellbook
Note
I hv this college AU in my head where all the bat kids (of age so i guess no Damian) are in uni and meet/hang with the teen titans and young justice bunch Wally snd Dick do sports together, Steph and Duke judge from afar while fooling around with board games. Jason and Victor Stone play beer pong idk i fuck with it
Note: you know, I was just gonna say YES, I LOVE THIS and then my dumbass brain went, “Write a thing. Write a thing. Write it hoe.” so here’s 1.5k of utter madness.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption. Lot’s of it.
He may not remember how he made it back into his bed, with only one shoe, no socks and glitter in his hair. But he definitely remembers how it all started.
The break begins with Dick banging on his door at the ass crack of dawn, a disgruntled Tim in tow and a bellini in hand.
“Carpe diem, baby bro.”
They fumble their way through making breakfast, keeping Alfred on facetime even with all the swearing and cursing and dropped utensils. Damian pops across the screen from time to time to whine about being bored at home and mock their collective incompetence.
It’s a huge spread; they’re cooking for mostly college athletes, after all. Dick goes around forcing extra bits of bacon and pancakes and fruit onto the freshman’s plates. Bart and Jaime dig in earnestly, but Tim takes an extra dose of coaxing because he’s too stubborn for his own good. Dick persists though, roping in a sagely Steph to remind Tim that he’ll probably be the first one to pass out anyways.
“Hey. Hey! No assignments at the table, today’s about getting wasted.”
Raven flips Wally the bird, slapping her laptop closed and leaning over to slip it back into Kory’s tote.
“Do something productive,” Garfield says. “Take this and knock it back. Show us who’s boss.”
She leers at the offered beer with disinterest. “It’s not even 10 yet.”
“Exactly, daylight’s burning.”
“I seriously doubt our only goal today is to just get wasted.” Duke’s worried voice draws the attention of all the seniors. They exchange amused glances over his head.
“You poor, innocent little bean,” Zatanna says, throwing her arms around him. “You’re in a frat house full of NCAA athletes and scholastic decathlon nerds who don’t get the chance to drink for most of the semester. Today is absolutely about getting wasted.”
***
He’s somewhere between buzzed and tipsy. Happy in the warmth of the sun.
It’s the first time in a while that he’s felt the tension of school slip away from his shoulders. His assignments are done, his family and friends are all around him and he’s having the time of his life watching Cass mix extra vodka into the already triple spiked rum punch. It’s both disgusting and delicious. And judging from the way Kon’s draped himself over Tim in a nearby lawn chair, it acts fast.
Barrelling straight towards blackout drunk for no other reason than the glory of college is an utterly fascinating idea and Jason finds it hilarious how willing most of them are to participate.
Dick’s already been amped up to giggly and incoherent. He and Wally are hunched over a phone, snickering at something Jason hopes is just the front camera opened up to their stupid faces.
“Here you go, buddy.” Roy’s voice grabs his attention as he passes over a plastic-wrapped sandwich to him. “You good?”
It’s the third time he’s asked for the day. Despite the fact that Jason is kinda wasted, he knows that Roy’s probably a little uncomfortable being around most of the people he loves, watching them get hammered while he’s stone cold sober.
“Yeah. You?” he asks through a bite of tuna on whole wheat.
“Peachy. Wanna go let Steph and Babs crush our asses at poker?”
****
“Can we go get fro-yo?”
Tim’s voice is soft and buttery, the way it gets when he’s shit-faced. Jason can hear Kon murmuring in agreement and Duke’s firm denial over the base of a Rihanna song. They’re a mess of gangly legs, draped over each other on the lumpy couch. He’s so caught up in watching they way their alcohol-induced affection is driving Duke up a wall that he misses Raven taking her turn.
He groans as the ball lands in a red solo cup. Kory grins wildly, hooking her chin over Raven’s shoulder; their both wearing looks of smug victory and he just knows he’s going to have the worst hangover tomorrow as he plucks another half-filled cup between his fingers, forcibly gulping down the amber liquid it holds. Vic slides over for his turn. He throws the ball and lets out a hiss as it misses the cup in the middle of the table, completely. Garth gives Jason a sympathetic head shake as he steps up to throw back the beer.
“It’s not fucking fair. How are you both star football players, bro? You guys suck at this.”
Vic laughs, pointing a finger at him. “I’m letting that slide because you’re the one throwing back my drinks for me.”
“Hey,” Raven intones. “It could be worse, Kory wanted to do this with tequila.”
“I’m actually hoping to leave college with my liver intact. Please, and thank you.”
Steph’s laughter, bubbly and sharp, cuts over the music. “Remember in freshman year when you got high and asked me how likely it was you’d survive a liver transplant?”
“You’re in med school, I thought you would know!”
She still laughing at him when she turns back to the complicated game of jenga she and Cass have had going for the past hour. He’s way too mellow to even begin to understand it, but he strongly suspects Cass is cheating.
***
Somewhere along the lines of beer pong and pizza Artemis Crock and Cissie King-Jones, the ace co-captains of the archery team, talk Duke and Tim into doing shots. He watches for a good ten minutes before he’s suckered right in alongside them. When Tim does inevitably pass out, Kaldur— who’s sober and very amused— lugs him off to bed.
That’s right along his memory get’s fuzzy. He knows there was dancing. He remembers being tugged along by Kory, yelling Beyoncé lyrics at the top of his lungs as he’s sandwiched between his siblings and his friends.
There are flickers of Kyler Rayner doing body shots and double dog dares with Mia Dearden and Connor Hawke. He has a video on his phone of Bart doing a keg stand while Wally looks on with a mixture of horror and pride plastered across his face. There’s a whole album of Dick trying to pet a stray cat, his nose red and the pictures getting blurrier and blurrier as his allergies set in.
After that, he thinks it was suggested that they all go outside to watch the sunrise. Someone— one of the redheads — had placed a steadying hand on his back as he swayed from foot to foot. He’s pretty sure he confessed his undying love to them.
****
When he does wake up, it’s because his head feels ready to fall off his shoulders and his mouth tastes like ass. The whole house stinks of sweat and the floors are sticky with spilt drinks. He bumps into Kon in the hallway, they exchange withering stares and a fist bump before parting ways.
He finds everyone in the kitchen— with the exception of Roy, whose a chipper bastard— in a similar state of dissonance with their bodies. Dick’s got his head in Kory’s lap and his feet in Wally’s. Tim sits across the table from them, staring at a glass of water like it personally offended him and Steph’s on the floor to the left of him, forehead pressed to the fridge. She has glitter in her hair too.
“Mornin’ sunshine,” Roy laughs. “You look like shit warmed over.”
“Thanks, man.” He spares him a glance, “Did you put me to bed last night?”
“I did,” Kory answers, her voice rough like gravel.
“Thanks, dude. Where’d my shoe go?”
“Dunno. Found you without it, I think.”
In the living room, Jaime’s lying face down on the couch with a pillow over his head, Bart keeps shuffling over to check his pulse and then back to the kitchen to gulp down water. Roy feeds them all toast and grins when a fresh-faced Cass breezes in through the doors. She plops a bottle of Advil onto the table gently and then sweeps away to watch the ensuing chaos.
“Me. First.” Tim growls, snatching it out of Dick’s hands.
Steph rouses herself then, looking around the room bleary-eyed. She clocks Jason and his head full of glitter, raising one hand to twist her fingers through her blonde locks, and then her other one to point at him like, “Hey, same.”
Donna drags herself in a little bit later. She immediately flings herself into a chair and drops her head down onto the table with a clunk that surely worsened her hangover headache. Vic and Kaldur, fairing better than the rest of them, snort through their breakfast as Roy peels off his sweatshirt to place it under her head.
He finds his shoe floating in the tub of quadruple rum-punch when their cleaning that evening. Garfield laughs so hard at him for a good ten minutes before clutching his skull and dropping down onto the porch steps, weakly.
At a quarter to four, Duke walks down the steps wearing the face of a man who knows nothing but utter betrayal.
“I’m letting you all know,” he calls. “I am not doing this again next year. I feel like death and I wanna call Alfred and cry.”
“Aw, Duke,” Dick coos. “Same.”
for wyynde and kaldur: first meeting please
A/N: I know you asked for first meetings, anon, but I thought it might be a little more satisfying to explore second meetings, instead.
Second Impressions
Kaldur swam wearily out of the courtroom, waving off Garth as his friend made to follow him. Kaldur had spent the last six hours recounting his time under Manta to the Atlantean High Court. They had forced him to go into excruciating detail, and by the end he could hardly defend himself from the prosecution. The pool of guilt that whirled in his stomach would rise, acid in his throat, and drown his words.
His excuses for crimes committed for the sake of expediency.
The current dragged at his limbs, made leaden by defeat. Kaldur allowed it to pull him to an empty courtyard, sinking gratefully to a stone bench. The water was cooler here, unwarmed by the heat of hundreds of bodies crowding close for the lurid tales of his sins.
Kaldur pressed his head between his hands, massaging uselessly at his throbbing temples. Ever since his...mishap with M’gann he’d suffered from an increasing number of migraines.
Whether it was due to having his mind shattered and rebuilt or the stress of finally being forced to face the reality of his actions was a question he could not answer.
Kaldur pressed his thumbs to the corners of his eye sockets. Bright stars burst behind the dark of his eyelids. His gills flared, drawing oxygen from the water as he settled in to think. His course of action has seemed so clear at the outset of this odyssey. The scales had tipped irrevocably in favor of every betrayal, every act of violence. The lives he took weighed little when balanced against the fate of the planet that the choice had seemed like no choice at all.
But now, at journey’s end, doubt plagued him. It settled over his soul like sheets of ice over the Arctic waters. He had once felt so clear-headed, knew in his bones what had to be done. And now uncertainty dogged every statement, every recollection of his reasoning. If not for the defense of his friends, as few left as he had, he surely would have talked his way into condemnation by now. Instead Garth and Lagaan spoke for him, casting a favorable light on the grim shadows of his trespasses.
Despite their efforts, Kaldur had only the faintest glimmer of hope that his preliminary exile would be repealed. With the way the trial was progressing, he would be lucky to avoid more severe, permanent consequences.
An electric tingle across the back of his neck roused Kaldur from his recollections. He kept his shoulders carefully slumped, resisting the urge to look up.
Someone was watching him.
A friend would announce themselves. A passerby with no ill intentions would not approach at all. Kaldur had earned several new titles in the last year: traitor, murderer, exile. None invited passing conversation.
Water shifted behind him, pushing lightly against the bare skin of his bowed neck. Kaldur inhaled deeply, curling tightly in on himself.
He was tempted to let it happen. Perhaps assassination would be less painful than explaining to stone faced families that their loved ones’ lives had been weighed against the rest of a distant world.
That they had been found wanting.
But Kaldur knew himself to be many things. A coward was not one of them.
He moved quickly, kicking up off the bench. Kaldur gripped his attacker’s shoulder, flipping himself through the water to press to the man’s back, sword pressed to the man’s throat.
Kaldur scowled, recognizing the intruder from years past. A Purist follower, Wyynde, with long hair and a nobly sculpted face that belied his poisonous beliefs.
“If you’re going to assassinate the Demon of Poseidonis,” Kaldur said, pressing his sword more firmly to the startled man’s neck, “Then you should at least make an effort.”
Wyynde did not struggle, but stiffened. “So you claim the title?”
Kaldur’s mouth twisted. “My crimes are all I have claim left to. I will have them.”
Wyynde was silent and still for so long Kaldur began to wonder if he’d somehow managed to kill the man without spilling a drop of his blood. Then he did something unexpected.
He laughed.
He laughed hard and loud, bending at the waist so Kaldur had to release his hold to keep from killing the man inadvertently. When the other man finally regained himself, he turned to look up at Kaldur with incredulous eyes. “So saving the world. That’s a crime?”
Kaldur quirked a brow, not quite lowering his water bearer. “An odd sentiment for an assassin.”
Wyynde shook his head, long hair swirling around his face like ink. “Have you considered that I’m not one?”
“Have you considered that I am many things, but a fool is not amongst them?”
Wyynde floated back, granting Kaldur some distance. He gestured to himself, spreading his arms. “Do you remember me?”
Kaldur nodded. “Well enough.”
“And you think I’m here to kill you?”
“It would be a Purist victory,” Kaldur replied, relaxing despite himself. “A dangerous halfbreed slain by your people’s sword.”
Wyynde scoffed. “Even if I was still with them I wouldn’t kill you.” He gestured at the courthouse, still trickling jurors and witnesses, the crowds that had come to observe one of the great trials of this century. “Better to allow you to talk your way into execution.”
Kaldur frowned, crossing his arms. Adrenaline had faded entirely. It was quickly replaced by bemusement. “It is a repeal trial.”
Wyynde eyed him speculatively, arms crossed in front of his chest to mirror Kaldur. He tilted his head, mockingly curious. “Then why are you trying so hard to convince them to kill you?”
Kaldur’s fingers tightened around his arms, blunt nails digging into the inky black of his tattoos. “That’s not what I’m doing.”
Wyynde pursed his lips, swimming forward slightly, into Kaldur’s space. “It is, though.” There was something soft about his eyes. It made Kaldur distinctly uncomfortable. Wyynde continued. “The Atlantean courts are not without mercy, or understanding. My own presence here serves as proof.”
Kaldur wished for land. For the ability to ground himself solidly against the compassion coloring the other man’s voice. “And why are you here.”
Blue eyes broke their gaze. “I left the Purists when I learned of their plan to overthrow the Crown and murder Queen Mera and Prince Artur. I have learned much since then.” Wyynde’s voice softened. “Regretted much, since then.”
Kaldur swallowed, sympathy struggling like a sun-starved vine upwards in his chest. He knew of regrets. “Fascinating, but that’s not what I was asking. Why are you here.”
Wyynde’s lips twisted into a bitter smile. “You’ll think me foolish. It is foolish.”
Kaldur shook his head, mouth twisting to match this stranger, this former enemy, despite himself. “You are not the only fool in this courtyard.”
Wyynde eyed him. “Would you believe that I wanted to apologize? For what I said, years ago.”
Kaldur’s expression darkened. “There are others you hurt more. And I think I am the last person any Atlantean need apologize to. Even one such as you.”
Wyynde’s mouth twisted, dissatisfied. “You truly believe that,” he mumbled. “Tell me, what would have happened to Atlantis if those aliens had been allowed to invade, unchecked?”
Kaldur sighed. He was tired of this argument. La’gann and Garth seemed to want to have it with him every time they spoke. “We would have perished. Or been enslaved. That does not excuse the lives I have destroyed.”
“Would you condemn another? For what you’ve done.”
Kaldur’s mouth twisted, grimacing. This too, was familiar. “No.”
Wyynde squinted at him, approaching cautiously.
Kaldur wasn’t certain, later, why he allowed the intrusion. He had become unfamiliar with touch, over the course of the years. Of the last one, especially. It was all he could do then not to flinch from it, even when kindly meant.
And yet he found himself frozen, unable to stop Wyynde from pressing into his space, so close the ink of his hair swirled and brushed against Kaldur’s own face in the gentle tug of the current.
“Why then,” Wyynde asked, eyes locked with Kaldur’s own. “Are your sins so much greater than others?”
Because I should have been able to find another way.
Because I should have worked harder. Because I should have been more clever.
Because I should have been able to stop it.
Because I’m me.
“Because I don’t know how to live in a world,” Kaldur said, finally. “Where I am allowed to walk away from what I’ve done.”
Wyynde smiled, a small knowing tilt of the corner of his mouth. “Have you considered that it is dying that would be walking away?”
Kaldur closed his eyes. “It has occurred to me that it sounds...simpler. Cleaner.”
A cool hand rested gently on Kaldur’s shoulder. “There is nothing simple or clean about redemption. I think, perhaps, that that is the point.”
Kaldur opened his eyes. It occurred to him that in the past ten minutes, this man had gone from his supposed assassin to his confessor. That he had been more truthful with this former enemy than had been in months to any friend, any comrade. To this near stranger who knew something of guilt.
“I fear,” Kaldur said, covering that cool hand with his own, “That you may be right.”
—————————— Influence
- The half part of Justice League who is in space.
- The victims of the battle were Thanagarians against the parademons. No idea for the first but the last one sounds like the ennemis in the JL films, both animated and real.
- Apokoliptans kakash are parademons. Kakash is an insult. I took it :)
- Lieutenant Thal is Hawkwoman and Captain Hol is Hawkman.
- Apokolips stole Nth metal, a rare material from Thanagan. What does Darkseid whant to do with it?
- “Earthlings biosigns” the metaslaves :( Now Aliens see Earth as a threat...
- Commander Talak is pretty deft or blind, or stubborn for not understanding it or he took a bribe for Apokolips?
- “We should send our Hawk fleet to put Earth on quarantaine.” As it happened in the first JL series? Will Earth have to fight Hawk and Darkseid at the same time?
- Guy gives me life xD He’s like an adult Bart! He found a new lead to save the metateens!
- (So much information in 3min!)
- Tara, Violet and Forager are cute with their burrito.
-Don’t talk about Wally! :’( “Today’s the day” ok, now I’m crying... Aquaman cheer me up!
- I’m sure James Gordon still worked with Batman secretly, right?
- Of course, Granny accused Dakar Marlowe of this debacle... who’s dead and can’t tell the truth. “New and improved technology” the same problem but more difficult to shut down... Great. And they will still give found the MHYC.
- Garfield just did like his brother-in-law and lost his shirt :D “I know what you are, Gretchen.” That was a stupid move, Gar...
- Mogo, the sentient Green Lantern planet, exists in YJ verse.
- Did Guy just sing about his ass? Kakash!
- Now they’re on the Team I want them to interact with the others. OMG Violet is NB!! Brion is a supportive boyfriend as always! They’re so cute when they’re embarassed! And Tara is smiling at them!
- “I’m really thrilled you discovered who you are inside” Believe me, M’gann went there before, with her color skin insecurities.
- The Hall of Justice is still in ruins? :( The UN has a satellite near the Watchtower? It’s to spy on them? “Who watches the Watchmen?” Seriously?
- Now, Lena Luthor, Lex’s sister, runs LexCorp. Is she secretly working with him? LexCorp is also giving fonds to the MHYC? That can’t be good news...
- Gretchen is torturing poor Barda :( Is she controled too? Or just brainwashed? So Granny works directly for Darkseid, is she part of the Light to spy on Earthlings?
- Desaad, we saw him in season 1 and at the end of season 2.
- “It wasn’t torture, it was discipline.” Sure, all abusers say that...
- Did Victor sense Violet’s text because he’s connected to her as Father and Motherbox or just connected to technology in general? Victor seems so embarassed :(
- Helga feeling useless just to lay her hands on Victor? Nobody sees that?
- Tara is working with Slade as she’s recording Dr Jace’s words. Is she against her and not the Team for once?
- Heil? Now Darkseid is the new Hitler. Or it’s Granny?
- Barda is brainwashed.
- Still no sound in space, the battle is pretty cool :)
- So clever to punch the wall at the same time than the missile to cover.
- Section 16.
- “Sommon the Furies!” Will we see Scandal’s girlfriend?
“Stay whelmed.” Did Superman picked that directly from Dick or from Conner?
- Missing 8 from Markovia. Aren’t they 6 now or were they other teens? Who is the blue skin boy and why does this girl have a drawing on her forehead? Magical tatoo like Atlanteans?
- All the stolen materials served to build this machine. What does it do?
- Whoa, the Furies can go hand to hand with the big hitter of the JL!
- Granny is definitely a sadistic... she attackes her own team slaves. Not surprising.
- What is it doing? They look like they disapear like Wally. Will it the one who’ll bring him back?
- Being saved by their “ennemies” maybe will turn the Furies into good.
- Of course, Superman, the only man, is the one who succeeded to go out... Even Superman can’t breathe in outter space?
- Garfield is not happy with Granny...
- Wolf and Bioship again!
—————————— Leverage
- Four 16 in 30 sec, a record!
- It’s the alien animal from season 2!
- The producer knows Granny can “ruin” a person. So she’s not as sweet as she want us to believe even in her civies...
- Auntie Mouse, this nickname is so cute! Lian is so cute!
- “They always said recon only. It never turned out that way.” I’m pretty sure the first team told him their mission as bedtime stories xD
- Markovia should be in East Europe if it was under Sovietic Union’s influence during the cold war. Maybe Vlatava is also in Central Europe or in East Europe.
- ED! I love his teasing and sarcasm xD
- Is the blonde girl the same they save in the gladiatory in episode 13?
- Did he just say crash? He must hang out with the Team pretty often and took from Virgil who took it from Bart xD
What did he call Nathaniel Newt? Wait, did he mean Neut like Neutron? Why would Nath even wants to be called that? Did he know what he did in Bart’s timeline by the way?
- Inhibitor collars? Are they produced by Granny?
- Polar suits like in the trailer!
- So the green aura can also make illusions and make you invisible?
- Lieutenant Dimitri Plushkin and Colonel Olga Ilyich as Red soldiers/Red Brigade. Area 52. Is that an easter egg for Area 51? Did the Russians took inspiration from Blue’s armor?
- Why the JL is presented as American while it has Aliens as members, Atlanteans and Amazones? --’ It should be presented as an international alliance to protect the Earth and protect humankind, not just the USA... (thank you for the imperialism...)
- Here are Captain Boomerang, Monsieur Mallah and Black Manta.
- “Did anyone tell them?” xD
- The Russian armor look like the ones from a video game, what’s its name again? Blue VS Red?
- “What the what now?” xD
- Artemis just burned BM with words!
- Siblings teamwork!
- The Red transformation was really painful to watch, even with just sounds... Not a magical girl transformation you want to watch every episode...
- “Little Sheila” is that an Australian expression? The only Sheila I know in the show is Tye’s mom but I doubt CB knows her.
- This face it’s was Vertigo’s minion. And Violet is gory again è.é Why is she pink instead of violet? It’s to protect her as she’s healing? What does the pink color do by the way?
- “Halo, Boom Tube” uuuuh was not your goal to not look like bad guys in flee? But to make a diplomatic conversation with the Russians?
- Did CB just made a Looser sign? “They should not be underestimated”. BM learnt his lesson in S2E19 :) So the bad guys and... I assume is Amanda Waller know the JL has a young covert cop unite, crash...
- The US government doesn’t like a competitor as they wanted to eliminate the Rocket Red Brigade and steal their tech for their own. Cold War is back again!
- So she makes them obey with chocks and a promised blown head just like in the film right? She’s quite the same sadistic woman than Granny but it’s ok because she works with the “good guys” understaood (US) governement... She’s even ready to sacrifice US teenagers (well except for Brion and Tara, but you got my point.) Do you realise US governement is worst than the Russian one? Yes, the Red armor seems painful but at least they’re volunteers soldiers and not formal criminals used and tortured like in Guantanamo :( I mean Waller’s ways are the exact ones than Granny’s except Waller isn’t hypocrite about it.
- Ed is so great as a peer counselor, big bro Ed time! She’s the French speaker Black girl we saw in episode 13 right?
- The team is between two fires...
- Brion plays the mole game xD
- Artemis is hurt! But why the laser never made wounds while Halo was gory again with a boomerang?
- Here’s Windfall! She sounds like a character in She-Ra right?
- Livewire is the protective butch girlfriend, isn’t she?
- Wendy is panicking because she realises she hurt someone? And she aspiring the air because she’s hyperventilating or something? “I’m a monster, a monster” Shh, baby girl it’s alright :(
- Big Bro Ed is hurt too :( (emotionnaly I mean) So heartbreaking :(
- They made Belle Reve like the Alcatraz in San Francisco right?
- Kaldur, the only Atlantean who can burn you with words!
- Why does Kaldur ask about Terra specifically? Does he know something? Or it’s because she’s new?
- Here’s Amanda Waller... Is Kaldur more worried about his father’s escape or his father being tortured? Does he know that by the way? or understood it with “very persuasive sticks and “extremely expendable”? Do you remember when we thought hopefully bad guys escaped from the Stagg op and will safely stay in Belle Reve while they were in the same condition and working for Waller? Do you imagine Livewire and Mist nearly suffer that too? :(
- Suicide Squad and Force X, they said it!
- “We all have secrets to keep.” Does he talk about the big secret with Batman and the others? *Artemis nods* You know he can’t see you?
- Dr Jace finally has her lab in Dakota city with... Hardwire? (I love his eyes!) All characters from Static Shock’s show/creator come from Dakota? Vic, how could you accept to be the rat lab from a stranger, possibly evil, and not from your father? :(
- Oh no, Wendy now wears a collar :( And Ed looks so sad about himself :(
- Dr Jace isn’t here only for testing Vic, but Violet too :( Wait... What does that look mean???
- Brion is such a caring and lovely boyfriend :3
- We still don’t know what CB meant by “proposition”... Did he want to make her turn into a bad guy or something?
- So it wasn’t a coincidence, but she opened it because of a bribe. What did they promise to her? offer to her? did she know it was for an assassination? Now Violet has a secret from her boyfriend about her past. She is Artemis’ mentee after all...
- Brucely! Where is your plushie? :(
—————————— Illusion of Control
- Aaaw! Bart hugs everyone like in season 2! :3 Ed is there and WAIT! Was that a kiss? *check again* I don’t know what this is supposed to be but it’s something right? And Ed is smiling at him!!
- Supermartian house! Forager moves his horns, so cute! Those scenes remind me of season 1! But Vic is still depressed and lonely :(
- Artemis, Will, what are those looks? Paula, stop making assumptions...
- Brion and Tara are there two!
- Dr Jace is not happy with what she found... Nothing good, guys!
- Ed’s smile again! I love it!
- OMG Jaime is so bad drawn this season... What happened to him?
- Gardita? Dudes, YJ fans can find better ship names that this, forget Gardita...
- “What didn’t you tell they’re coming?” Maybe because Jaime wanted to make a surprise for you maybe?
- “It’s so nice to see you again.” So crash Perdita often hangs out with the Team :) “I’m a big fan!” She’s so cute! :D
- “I feel like a fifth, sith, seventh wheel.” Poor Virgil :( Wait, that means there are 3 couples here, who are the third one... OMG is Bart and Ed? Ok, make sense after the “kiss” scene. Unexpected, but let’s see their dynamic! :D
- “Where’s the rest of the Team? Like, you know, Cassie?” Virgil misses his BF :)
- Lian is so cute! Did I already hear this mix of songs? In Misplaced, season 1! Why season 3 has so many season 1 vibes? Especially when Wally is still missing :(
- Violet doesn’t feel good. Probably because of Gabrielle’s action?
- I love Artemis’ Markovian accent! xD
- “Tara had been through a lot / She doesn’t talk much”. Silent could be a consequence of trauma :( Or is it because she doesn’t want to risk to blow her cover or to get attached to them?
- “It’s so nice that you two include me” Helga, stop, you make things suspicious.
- Aw, Ed has heart eyes while looking at Bart :3 “My friend” Wait, what? Are they still pining for each other? And the rest of the team know and wait for these two to make a move? Because Jaime and Traci seem to know Virgil was talking about them.
- “Watch me terrorise the other drivers.” Ed, the other drivers are mostly your students, don’t terrify them too much xD
- Bart’s smile is so cute! And it’s a genuine one!
- “You’ll pay for that, peasants!” I love Perdita! So great she can still have fun like a normal teenager!
- “Got to get a girlfriend” *next scene about lonely Victor* Is that a foreshadowing or...? Was I right when I said Vic can be gay in YJ?
- “Forager must help uncrush Victor Stone!” Forager is still cute. Why all the team are so cute? :D
- I love when Ed’s face soften when Perdita says they’re friends :) In Spanish! :D I’m sure Perdita could speak few foreign languages plus English and Spanish :)
- Wendy still wearing an inhibitor collar :( Aw, Perdita is so sweet with her, like they are two normal teen at high school :)
- Of course Bart did eat all the food in ten meters... And I love Ed’s amused face and Bart’s shock when he realises he did eat all the cotton candy xD (I just remember the scene in Teen Titans with Robin and Starfire and cotton candy ^^)
- Livewire brings cotton candy to Mist! :D
- Ed’s feel down despite all the work he does here. Do you want to create a club with Kaldur? Of course Bart supports him :)
- And Traci nudges Jaime again :( Now I understand why the nudge hurted him in Far Away episode: he has bruises here... Is that the only thing we’re going to see them do as a couple? :(
- Wait, did Bart say “Maybe I did eat too much cotton candy” or “Baby I did eat too much cotton candy?” Because it’s a lot different!
- Everyone is sick. Uh... Poison? Oh that’s Vertigo’s minion agin. There’s he is. No, Perdita is in danger! But she still has the nerve to punch him! Karabast! :o
- Arg, that should hurt to trip at superspeed :( And hurt to run at superspeed in jeans and not in a frictionless suit :( Of course Ed teleports next to him to see how Bart is :D
- Does Blue has canines that big all the time or it’s an effect on the suit?
- Lonely Vic again :(
- “I don’t have a Hive, Fred.” Don’t worry, Vic, you’re not the only freak here. Heck you’re talking to an alien!
- Butterfly Vic :) That would be another common point with Blue! (Yeah, I want them to interact at some point)
- Vic is still worried for Fred but don’t want to show it :)
- Scarab is back! I missed his snarky and sarcasm comments! And Blue is still tired by his suggestions! xD “Scarab wanted to blow it up, didn’t he?” Traci should see those interactions so often xD But it’s great she accepts Scarab :) Blue’s smile after she succeeded! And it’s me or Scarab sounds jealous? “Dude, you’re the king of overkill” xD
- “It’s good. Could use a little salt” My mom could say something like this xD
- “I’m so thankful to have been included.” Helga, you’re a terrible actress... Am I the only one seeing this? Or all the characters are blind? (Except Jeff, he’s a lost case, he’s in love... Actually why he’s in there with his lover?) Or I’m just overanalysing and YJ is leading me in a wrong path?
- The way Jace insists on the hero part feels like she’s doing this on purpose...
-Why Tara and Brion feel so bad? It’s not their fault! Or did they tell something to Jace thinking it was an innocent comment?
- Well, Jace didn’t apologise for the argument she created so maybe she did this on purpose. Or am I overreading this?
- Please don’t mention Wally again :( So basically Paula is afraid Artemis got killed in a mission (like she was for fake and like Wally?) and try to scare her with a wheelchair? “What will it take to covince you?” Yes, she’s totally scared and don’t know what to say anymore as a wheelchair (or any big wound) and Wally’s death don’t seem enough. “You don’t have to fight crime to help people.” This point is good, look at Ed :)
- “You and Will” Uh... no Paula, you got too far and that’s not your busines here... “Your sister isn’t coming back and Lian needs a mother.” Have to disagree... You should be worried for your daughter because it doesn’t seem by free will and Lian already has two female figures. So don’t force your second daughter in a relationship just for pratical things... Thank you no thank you.
- Ed and Bart are the two pathfinders/advance men (not sure of the accurate term) of the Team! :D
- I’m impressed Scarab uses metric and Jaime still understands it. They use metric in Mexico, right? That could explain why he’s at ease with both systems (unlike me xD).
- The Team is so clever! Virgil makes connexion that Vertigo doesn’t have those powers; Traci makes the link that what they see is at cause and Gar finds a solution :)
- “What are you made of?” “Sugar and spices and everything nice.” He’s a fan of cartoons for this second reference right? And that reminds me of the scene between Bart and the Terror Twins at Mount Justice. Bart, sweetie, stop punching people stronger than you :(
- I thought the guy was powerless (I mean litterarly), how could he resist a bear’s strenght?
- Uh, that wasn’t Vertigo’s voice. “Be careful my love.” So Vertigo (or whoever this is) is with their minion? Like a boss and his secretary?
- Perdita going straight for the nuts xD Vertigo killed her father? That’s why she was queen at ten :( She should talk with Brion and Tara, they also know an uncle who killed their parents for the throne...
- It was Psimon, make so much sense! I knew I know this voice! Meaning the other is... Devastation! We know theiy’re together since episode 13.
- “He... She was Devastation!” Jaime would never misgender someone! :)
- I love when the girl saves herself but the boyfriend is still worried for her :)
- “Are you... Come on!” We feel you, Virgil!
- The Team is still so clever to connect the clues. Of course Big Brother Ed is worried for Wend and the others ^^ (He didn’t name any other kids. Is it because he “failed” her and not the others?)
- Bart and Ed finish each other sentence! :D
- Bart is so clever he put fire againt ice xD
- No the boom tube, the boys will be kidnap... Oh come on! I theorise for months about this scene! “Don’t want to know where that would lead us;” Bart, I tried to figure it out for months, be kind.
- “There’s just no pleasing you...” Jaime, be gentle, Scarab is learning, you see?
- After their fight in season 2, it’s good to see Ed openly worries for his father :)
- Gar is so pissed about the covert part since 2 episodes.
- Poor Violet, it’s not her fault :( But Jace is more and more suspicious. Wanting to keep secrets like this... Did she speak German with “Hallo”? “It’s been a long time.” Who is she calling? Jeff? Someone we don’t know?
- It’s Mal and Karen! :D
- Vic rejoins them and Forager is happy! Vic is smiling!
- “I’m more a lemonperson myself.” Bart, what are you saying? xD Don’t change! And that goofy smile xD
- Ed’s soft smile! :D (while looking at him?)
- Virgil, you’re good, you don’t need a girlfriend for that D: But he’s so awkward at flirting it’s so sweet!
- Did the “hot” comment was necessary? è.é
- Gar is up for something... Going solo behind the Team’s back?
- Forager is eating with/in the bioship:3 Wait did he fart and burp inside of her too?!
“Back to You” (Aqualad x OC)
PART SIXTEEN
(part one) (part two) (part three) (part four) (part five) (part six)(part seven) (part eight) (part nine) (part ten) (part eleven) (part twelve) (part thirteen) (part fourteen) (part fifteen)
@flamebiirds @sapphicstargirl @keanureevesislesbian @princes-jasmine @the-shadow-of-atlantis @super-spoiler
Tumblr media
They landed silently, a short distance from the dying embers that used to be the JSAs safehouse.
“No, no,” He gasped, running down the ramp, “It can’t be, she can’t- they can’t-”
Kid Flash gripped Nightwing’s shoulder, his mouth in a firm line as he scanned the ashes. “Not reading any biological signs, except for some apples and fish.
“Heat signature can’t see anything but the embers. I’m sorry.”
“Fan out!” Artemis drew her bow, “They could have escaped, right? They’re just hiding in the woods, right?” Her voice cracked.
Miss Martian tried to swallow the lump in her throat. “Satellite scans from the watchtower report the Manta Flyer dropped in, and took off. They’re long gone by now.”
But that didn’t keep Richard from sprinting towards the ruins. No one tried to stop him, instead running after him. M’gann took to the air, hoping to see something the satellites had missed.
“Look!” She was cut off when something leaped out of the underbrush, hitting Richard in the gut with an “Oof!”
“Get it off, get it off!” He exclaimed as it slobbered all over his face.
Despite the situation, Artemis started laughing, gently lifting the creature off of her friend, “It’s just a dog,” She teased.
“An absolutely adorable husky puppy,” Wally cooed, scratching it behind the ears. The puppy attempted to lick his hand once, and then began to whine, wriggling in Artemis’s hands to be let down.
“Reminds me of Wolf,” Conner said, with what sounded like the faintest hint of interest, trying to get a turn to pet it.
Artemis made them all step back, watching as the dog ran to the edge of the underbrush, then stopped, waited, and yipped urgently.
“I think it’s trying to tell us something.”
-
“Kaldur-” Water gushed out of Emma’s mouth, and somehow she could actually turn on her side and spit it out, shaking with each cough.
A wriggling, whining form hopped up on her lap, ran up her chest and started licking her face.
“Sidekick,” Emma fell back into the jelly-like cot, which slowly began to warm her shivering body. She held the puppy close, letting Sidekick lick away all her tears.
“Hey, sis.”
Emma sat up abruptly, devolving into shivers as the almost-ice water droplets sprayed everywhere.
Artemis placed a towel around her shoulders, to go with the blanket over her legs, and Wally began rubbing her arms to warm her up.
“Wha- what happened?” She asked, lips almost frozen together.
Conner picked up Sidekick to give Emma some breathing space. “Your little friend here showed us where you were. Don’t know how long you were under. It’s a miracle you survived.
“I gave you mouth to mouth,” Rick boasted, squeezing out some of her hair. “You doing okay?”
Emma nodded numbly. “Kaldur, did you guys find Kaldur?”
“Tracking him now,” M’gann promise, her fists gripping the controls of the bioship. If Emma were more alert, she would have noticed how her friends were all struggling to stay on their feet as M’gann pushed the bioship far past its normal speeds.
“It’s too shallow for them to dive right now, but once they reach the Hudson bay they can speed up.” Artemis assured her.
“We’re almost on top of them,” M’gann said.
And then they were tossed to the side, spiralling out of control. Wally held Emma tightly to keep her from being jostled about while the others braced themselves against the airbags that swelled up.
“What was that?” Nightwing snapped.
“It came from behind us,” M’gann righted the ship, encouraging her to move forward.
“Manta’s got allies?”
“He had friends who helped him out of Belle Reve,” Artemis pointed out.
Emma was barely listening as Wally tried vigorously to get Emma back to normal body temperatures. Sidekick barked roughly, scrabbling at Conner’s arms, what good that did.
Thankfully, they were floating still when the next blast hit, allowing absorption of the shock.
“Recognize her?” M’gann asked, pulling up something on the viewscreen.
“Looks like a local,” Rick huffed.
Emma blinked blearily, rubbing at her eyes in time to see Miiyahbin priming another ice blast.
“Open the back door, now!” She shouted at M’gann with a surge of energy, pushing Wally anf the blankets off of her.
M’gann did as told, and Emma stumbled as close to the edge of the rampo as she dared before she remembered the stumps of her wings.
“Emma!” Miiyahbin cried, holding out her arms, clearly intending for Emma to jump.
“Miiyahbin, it’s good, it’s fine, these are my friends,” Emma promised, waving her down.
“Oh,” Miiyahbin’s face was flush with embarrassment as she pulled her onboard the bioship. Once the back ramp was secured, M’gann took off again, trusting the others to handle their new guest.
“Equinox, this is my brother, Nightwing. And this is Artemis, Kid Flash, Superboy and Miss Martian. Guys, this is Equinox. Kaldur and I have been training her to use her powers.”
Miiyahbin did a quick scan of the cabin. “Where is Kaldur, anyway?” She asked.
“Captured by Black Manta,” Wally said, trying to force Emma back into the cot. Sidekick barked, having freed herself from Conner’s grasp and now begging for attention from Miiyahbin.
“They’re projected to reach the bay in five minutes.”
“How long until we’re on top of them?”
“Just before then,” M’gann’s voice wavered with confidence.
“Emma,” Miiyahbin pushed Artemis and Wally aside, “Rhodes is back, he’s in the village, rounding everyone up.”
“What?” Emma stood up again, drawing everyone’s attention. She knew she had forgotten something.
Miiyahbin nodded, biting her nails, “I tried to reach you and Kal, but I found the house in ruins and the ship flying away, I thought you’d been captured-”
“Rhodes, that guy you were tracking?” Nightwing asked.
“Why can’t no one get a decent vacay around here?” Wally asked, dramatically falling back onto the cot himself with his arm draped over his eyes.
“Yes, shut up Wally,” Emma snapped. “You, Nightwing, and Superboy need to go back to the village with Equinox and hold off Rhodes and his men until Miss Martian, Artemis, and I can get Kaldur. We’ll meet you there.”
“How are we gonna-”
“Just jump, you’ve got superboy, and Miiyahbin may still need a handle on her air powers but we’ve practiced enough she can make an air pocket for you to land on. Right?” Emma glanced at her.
Miiyahbin nodded shakily, “Right, I think.”
“That sounds promising.”
“I will toss you from this ship myself, Richard,” Emma scolded. “M’gann, make a hatch!”
“Hang on, guys,” Conner handed Sidekick to Emma.
“Good luck,” Artemis barely had the chance to kiss Wally’s cheek before Conner scooped him up in one arm. With Rick in the other, he jumped out the hatch after Miiyahbin, the boys screaming all the way. A minute later, the girls still aboard the bioship heard a crash.
“Think they’re okay?” Artemis asked.
“They have been through worse,” M’gann said. “Hold onto something, we’re going in.”
The ship started on a steep decline, and the bioship itself tossed Emma and Artemis into waiting chairs, strapping them in for the rest of the ride.
“What do you guys know about the ship?”
“Airlock’s at the bottom of the sub, toward the stern,” M’gan said, “I can attach her there and make a hole in the floor, but that’ll bring dozens of troopers down on us.”
“I think they only had five or six,” Emma thought out loud, “It depends on how many ended up in Belle Reve with him.” Sidekick barked in agreement.
“Leave them to me,” Artemis growled, double-loading her crossbow with non-lethal arrows.
“And where’s the prison chambers?”
“The cages are on the bow, at the other end, right beneath the control room.”
“Okay,” Emma held Sidekick and braced herself against the ship as they hit the water right behind the Manta Sub. Lasers began to fire at them, but they couldn’t aim beneath the ship once M’gann had attached them. Bioship created a hatch, allowing Miss Martian  to tear away the metal hullin a matter of seconds.
“Stay,” Emma told Sidekick sternly.
“Hold’ ‘em back, girl,” M’gann whispered soothingly. As she helped Nightingale and Artemis into the docking bay of the Sub, they could feel the ship come to a groaning halt.
The metal footsteps of the troopers echoed through the tin can, and the girls ran towards them. The ship could carry about twenty people, but that only left room for one way in and out of everything.
Nightingale shocked the first wave, Miss Martian pushed them up against the wall, and Artemis held them in place with the Arrow’s signature high-density polyurethane foam. They weren’t looking for a fight, not now.
Get in, Get Kaldur, Get out, Go help.
-
For a moment, the ship began to speed up, and then it slowed down again. Could they have reached their destination already?
“What is going on?” Manta demanded of the two guards in the room. Apparently not.
“We’ll go check, boss,” they both stumbled out the door, leaving it swinging wide open in their wake.
“It appears things have not been kept up to ship-shape in your absence,” Kaldur dared to speak, playing with a speck of dust on the floor of the cell he was encased in.
“That’s your fault,” Manta snapped, red eyes glowing in the dim room.
“Tell me, Manta, do you ever take responsibility for your actions?”
“I don’t have to,” Manta growled.
Ignoring him, Kaldur kept speaking as if Manta hadn’t. “You blame Aquaman for the death of your father, disregarding that you caused the death of his. You blame my parents for leaving you, disregarding how your anger and your fanatic plans scared them away. You blame me for betraying you, when you keep down this path that has destroyed everything you love.”
“I have a right to my vengeance!” David snarled, he whipped off his helmet to look at Kaldur with his own eyes, but Kaldur hardly looked up from the game he was playing with the dust of the floor.
“There are, perhaps, some qualities that we share, but one thing that I know we do not share, is our view of the consequences of our actions. While you seem to run away from them completely, I drown myself in them, until there is nothing but regret and the empty promises from my friends that I am not a terrible person.”
He stood up, and David stumbled back, dropping his helmet.
“I have done terrible things, made terrible mistakes, but I am not a terrible person. I know that now. I have seen your noble side, father. You can learn from your mistakes, just as I have, as my friends have, as Aquaman has, as my mother and father-”
David roared in anger, grabbing Kaldur by the collar of his shirt.
“You did tell me that, didn’t you, boy?” He snarled. Kaldur remained unflinching at the spittle that flew from David’s lips.
“Well, remember what I told you: This world is not made for men with regrets. It will chew you up and spit you back out. I have seen it before, Kaldur’ahm. I will not see it happen with you.”
Kaldur pushed himself away in disgust, falling back against the wall of the call. “I am no son of yours.”
The door, already ajar, was thrown open. And there was Emma, Bloody, black and blue, bedraggled and wet, and still wearing an amalgamation of pajamas and the pats of her suit she couldn’t bother herself to take off before collapsing into bed what felt like hours ago.
His guardian angel.
“Nightingale!” Manta screamed.
Emma didn’t give him the chance to put on his helmet. The force of her lightning threw him back into the other cages, and let him fall to the floor, still and silent.
Taking only a moment to confirm that he was still breathing, Emma grabbed the key from Manta’s belt and unlocked the cage and the cuffs before falling into Kaldur’s arms.
“You’re alive,” Kaldur gasped, gripping the back of her shirt. He could feel the jagged edges where her wings had been so cruelly cut off.
“We’re a team,” Emma said, breathing heavily. They knelt on the floor of the dungeon, both breathing heavily as they held each other, “I’ll always come back for you.”
Kaldur’s lips found hers, and Emma melted into the kiss, sending a warmth through her body and rejuvenating the energy she’d lost from her impromptu swim.
“Did you come alone?” Kaldur asked, helping her back on her feet.
Emma smiled, and shook her head even as Artemis and M’gann stumbled into the doorway.
“I brought along a few friends.”
Something Between Us: Chapter Two
Link to chapter one
Link to Ao3
Despite Roy’s earlier fantasies of marathon sex they did in fact sleep the rest of the night. And it was the best night of sleep Roy had this week. Possibly his best night’s sleep in years. He wouldn’t describe himself as someone who needed a relationship. Or claim that forming this union with Kal filled some hole in his heart. That would be inaccurate either way anyway. But there had been so much left unsaid for so long that no matter the form of their new relationship, as long as they had one, it would help settle his sense of self. Put simply, Kaldur was the first bit of proof that Roy was a “real boy.”
An implanted drive to become a member of the Justice League couldn’t explain their closeness. There were no implanted memories for him to base his interactions on. And Kaldur had never met his original prior to the discovery of the whole cloning thing. Their relationship was all them. Roy’s original had admitted to trying to get close to Kal in an effort to capture something he felt he’d lost, but it just didn’t work. If anything it backfired despite his original’s insistence that Kaldur treated him normally, something that even Dick had trouble doing. Age/rank gap notwithstanding, the original didn’t mesh well with Kaldur. Respected him sure, but he just didn’t feel the pull. And Roy...well Roy couldn’t remember having to try.
Sleep must have been good for Kaldur as well. It was eightish and Kal lay on his stomach, still asleep, still naked. He hadn’t gone all OCD on Roy last night, so the sheets were a mess and their clothing lay on the floor where they left them. Roy wanted to kiss him but morning breath held him back. No, Roy’d just lay in bed and watch Kal sleep like a stalker. Cuz he’s a well adjusted adult and all that.
Kaldur stirred. He turned his head to look at Roy and smiled at him sleepily. “Morning.”
“Mor-” Roy squeaked, he cleared his throat and tried again. “Morning.”
Kaldur shifted into child’s pose right on the bed, splaying out his fingers and webbing as far as they would go. He groaned into the stretch as he wiggled his fingers.  His movement pulled the covers off his body. “You are starting again.”
Roy moved to sit cross legged on the bed. “Stop being beautiful and I’ll stop lookin. Breakfast?” Kaldur’s eyebrow twitched. Roy wasn’t interested in stopping with the compliments Kal’d just have to get used to it.
“Water,” Kal answered.
Roy smirked. “Did I dehydrate you?”
Kaldur sat up. “Funny.” he answered dryly. He moved to get off the bed.
Roy still watched just for the joy of it. Because this was happening, it was real, and he’d enjoy every moment of it.
Kaldur’s hands rested on his hips as he scanned the room. “We should clean.”
“Ugh.” Roy flopped back down on the bed, placing his arm over his eyes for added drama.
“At least make the bed.”
“I don’t know about you but I plan on using it again.”
“Change the sheets?”
Roy peeked from under his arm. “Fine.”
They changed the sheets, and picked up their clothes, because really that was all there was to do and it was kinda a waste of time. (This of course is why Roy’s home was probably a mess, maintenance is important Kal chided. Roy didn’t bother defending himself.) They brushed their teeth and Roy sipped on a glass of water while Kaldur gulped down three,the movement of Kal’s adam’s apple kickstarting Roy’s imagination. And then they had their first fight as a couple.
It was dumb because at some point last night Roy remembered thinking that he’d give Kal anything he wanted but he wouldn’t give up on this. He was going first, damnit.
So now he couldn’t take it back, because he’d won the argument. He would get to go first because he deftly convinced Kaldur that he needed Kal’s dick up his ass like a week ago. (Okay so he almost railroaded his chances with that declaration because of time and math and shit. It hadn’t even been a week since he’s been here, but fuck calendars. That wasn’t the point.) He couldn’t take it back no matter how much this current situation was making him want to shake apart because it was just too much. Because he forgot how good this felt. Since he was going to go first he was required to let Kal help with preparations since anything else would lead to Kaldur ignoring their agreement and result in Kal physically restraining Roy and power bottoming until one or both of them passed out. Which, yeah, later, and that’s about as far as that particular fantasy went before Roy had to bite down on his lower lip to keep himself in the present.
It’d been a while since Roy’s been on the receiving end mostly because no one else would do but Kal. Which might just be a mental blockage on his part more than anything doing with his actual sexuality.  He could get another guy with a little effort. He didn’t want to. There were women who would satisfy that itch but that required more intimacy than he was ready for from a one night stand. And surprisingly Jade was always so worried about hurting him that she could never get in to it. Such hesitance from a woman that loved torturing people... He guessed that’s one of the many ways he knew she loved him. Yes he was thinking about Jade right now. He needed something to distract him from Kal’s tongue up his ass.
This was supposed to help him loosen up after the requisite cleaning was done. Not get him off. Getting him off would mean starting over and ….Fuck. That was the whole damn point. Kaldur’s enjoying this. Roy thought conspiratorially. Roy shook the water from his hair. “Kal enough.” It was hard to sound authoritative when need tainted his voice. Kaldur just gripped Roy’s hips tighter. The feeling of Kal’s fingers digging into his skin made Roy’s toes curl.
It was hard not to slip while pressed up against the glass wall of the shower but Roy attempted to shift his weight forward anyway. “Really, I’m good now.”
Kaldur ignored him again, moving one of his hands forward to begin stroking Roy’s cock.
The extra stimulation caused him to involuntarily push backwards, an action that gave Kaldur encouragement he didn’t need. Roy gave up, they had all day anyway.
Roy needed a break, time to come down from his post orgasmic high. Roy didn’t want one, he pushed through the drowsiness to pin Kaldur against the tiled wall of the shower. Kal hissed as water from one of the sprays pelted his back. Roy hadn’t bothered to ensure that Kaldur didn’t end up on top of one. The water was warm for Roy’s benefit, meaning that it was uncomfortable for Kaldur. Roy didn’t notice. His fingers had returned to the task of opening himself up and Kaldur’s neck needed some attention.
The doorbell rang.
“Ignore it,” Roy said between kisses and Kaldur almost did.
Correction. Kaldur ignored the doorbell but something else caught his attention. He peeled Roy off of him.
“What’s wrong?” Roy’d be dissapointed but he knew that look. Knew it was time to shift gears.
Kal turned off the water then moved to get Roy a towel.
“What about you?”
“Not cold.”
“Kal...you're not exactly in fighting shape right now.” Roy fought against the distraction. Kaldur was so hard it looked painful. He had a plan to ease that pain, but of course they’d get cockblocked.
Kaldur ran his hand over his head, scratching his scalp. He looked down with a wry smile.
“Here.” Roy tossed him his towel. “What’s the plan.”
“We should….” Kaldur cocked his head. Super hearing, it wasn’t Superman levels but having evolved for underwater living sharper senses were part of the deal. “I think I can manage to get pants on before whatever...whoever? It’s just one?”
“Then go,” Roy commanded.
----------------------------------------
Kaldur had just made it to his room. Just opened the drawer to pull out some pajama bottoms when his bedroom door opened.
“Hey Kal, I thought you were-”
That was Dick’s voice. Kaldur didn’t care then, because privacy apparently meant nothing to portions of the superhero community now that he had been found again. So yes, Kaldur did not bother covering himself again when he turned around.
Dick’s eyes bugged out and then he very pointedly looked at the ceiling. “Sorry I uh…”
“What is it Richard.” Kaldur said calmly,icilly, his face a mask.
“Yeah, what is it Richard?” Roy had entered  the room. Dry but undressed except for the towel around his waist. He slung an arm around Dick’s shoulders, trapping him.
Dick practically jumped out of his skin. He twisted to the side then straightened,  drawing his arms close to his chest as he hugged himself.  “Ugh dude, Kal’s bad enough. Put that away!”
Kaldur’s face softened as he turned to put on some underwear and pajama pants.
“What? Not my problem you didn’t run a proper risk assessment check before breaking in.”
Dick turned to glare at Roy. “How was I supposed to know that you two are together, together?” he hissed. His expression shifted to one of wonder. “Wait...are you guys together together? Cuz if so congrats but I’d prefer to find out over text and not...well.”
Kaldur tossed some clothes Roy’s way.  Roy caught them with his free hand.
“I have preferences as well.” Kaldur said dryly “But seeing as this morning will not continue according to my preferences-”
Dick freed himself from Roy’s grasp. “Ugh don’t bring it up.” He looked a little sick. “I feel like this is what walking in on your parents must be like.”
“Wait,” Roy started as he took off his towel. Dick rushed towards Kal’s bedroom door, he’d seen enough male nudity for the morning thank you very much. “You mean you haven’t seen Bat’s and Catwoman go at it?” Roy called after him.
They laughed at Dick’s loud groan from the hallway.
-----------------------------------------
There was a briefcase on his coffee table. Dick sat on the loveseat casually as if the case didn’t loom large from its location. As if he didn’t put it there on purpose. Roy, his Roy, said what he could not.
Roy gestured to the briefcase. “What the fuck is this shit?”
Kaldur smiled softly at Roy before retreating to the kitchen to start breakfast. It was nice to have his anger translator back.
“Calm down Roy,” said Dick.
Kaldur grinned. Dick should know better. “He just came out of retirement.” Roy said with emphasis. His voice getting louder with each word. “He hasn’t even been debriefed yet. “
“Look Roy I g-”
“You didn’t even have the decency to wait til he opened his door. Just broke in while bringing that.” Roy pointed to the briefcase again.
“It’s a bit of an emergency.”
Roy pointed to the ceiling. “You have a damn space station full of superheroes.”
“Okay okay...enough with the finger.” Dick sighed. “You ever hear of King Shark?”
“No.”
“Yes.” Kaldur cracked an egg into a frying pan then turned around.
“Yeah well, he didn’t take it that well when you fell off the map.” Dick explained. “And now that you’re back he’s made some big proclamation that he’s on the way here.”
“Okay?” Kadur returned to his work. Grabbing a few more eggs to crack into the pan. “King Shark is not a threat that requires my specific skill set. You and others could have intercepted him and I would be along shortly to help if required.”
“He has...spawn.”
“There’s a queen shark?” Roy asked.
Dick gave Roy a “How the fuck would I know?” look.
Roy returned a “Don’t bat’s always know look?”
Dick rolled his eyes.
“Do sharks lay eggs?” Roy continued.
“Some do-” Kaldur began to answer.
“Anyway!” Dick’s voice rose. “Backup is on the way. The little buggers are radioactive so cleanup’s gonna be a bitch. According to the watchtower he’ll be here in an hour or two. I just happened to be in Turkey so I was closest contact.”
“Oh,” Roy snarked. “You just happened to be in Turkey. You just happened to have that with you too?”
More pointing on Roy’s end, this was getting them nowhere. Kaldur figured it was time to swap in. “Roy,” Kaldur said softly as the turned down the burner. Roy moved towards the kitchen to take over because if they were gonna go fight radioactive bipedal shark spawn they'd better eat first.
Silver briefcase. Biometric locks. Kaldur pressed his thumbs to the latches and after a blue light scan and a soft beep the case clicked. Kaldur lifted the top and it was... different. He flicked his eyes over to Dick. “What is with you and blue.”
“Topaz actually. Matches your eyes.” Dick batted his eyes at him
“Stop flirting with my boyfriend.” Roy called form the kitchen.
Dick’s head snapped to Roy’s direction. “I’m not flirting with your boyfriend! Seeing his erection was enough. Trust me.”
Roy scoffed. “Your loss.”
Kaldur ignored them both. He pulled the suit out and shook it a bit. It was similar to his other suits except things were a lighter greenish blue...topaz, whatever, where it would normally be a red orange. And midnight blue where it was black. Pewter where it was gold, like the symbol of Atlantis and his belt. He set the main part of his new suit down. “What are these?” Kaldur lifted a second garment. A high collared, long sleeved, bolero, stiffer than the rest of his suit, it was the same shade of pewter as his Atlantean insignia.
“It’s a part of your new water bearer set up,” Dick explained.
“He doesn't need them anymore,” Roy supplied.
Dick shrugged. “Then imagine how powerful his water constructs will be if he uses them. Ready to suit up?”
Kaldur and Roy looked to each other.
“That was a rhetorical question,” Dick didn’t bother to hide his annoyance.
Roy’s smile triggered one from Kaldur.. “Breakfast first,” Kaldur said.
