sorry for being super late to the zhuge liang time-loop party but image we're several iterations in and our boy kongming is sitting in his little mountain hut waiting for liu bei to show up like he always does but this time sun zhou yu turns up instead
oh ho this is a hilarious concept! this is the enemies to enemies timeline we all need. i think it would make more sense for lu su and zhou yu to turn up, because of the simple reason that sun quan is a duke at this point and can't leave the palace for such an extended period of time vs liu bei the one-horse warlord.
ok, the timeline needs to be super fucked up at this stage in order to bring these two togather, because in the alpha timeline even though kongming was fairly well known as a genius hermit, he hasn't done anything so extraordinary at this stage that it warrents a personal visit from the two most powerful people in the southland.
i think we can do this by making him kinda new to the whole timeloop thing, and he accidentally/on purpose reveals some future events in order to get liu bei to find him faster, and it ends up backfiring.
picture this: kongming is sitting in his thatched hut, tears in his eyes, heart all a-flutter, waiting for his beloved leige lord to turn up, and the servant is like "master, there's three important men at the door" (idk who the third guy should be but it's a nice round number. maybe huang gai?) kongming: !!!! "ok, I will play some music to set the mood. i was rude last time by falling asleep and i want to make a good impression."
not even 3 bars in and a VERY familiar voice calls out "you're flat."
kongming is so fucking outraged that for a second he forgets to be surprised because that was ONE HALF-STEP DOWN, ASSHOLE!!!! YOU trying getting reincarnated and deincarnated several times over and then meet your soulmate (he called liu bei that irl, look it up) and see how steady your hands are, asshole!!! god, this is just like wei wuxian from my danmeis...
then it dawns on him that none of the peach garden trio have musical literacy. he runs outside, takes one look at the three men in his courtyard and is like "well, this timeline is a wash. aight im gonna go out back and bash my head in. on second thought, i should do it here and freak zhou yu out. suicidal existential despair is no excuse not to troll zhou yu."
but the afformentioned takes this opportunity to stroll into kongming's bedroom, and starts tuning his qin (not a euphamism) without permission. kong ming says passive-agressively, "i see you're quite adept at tightening another man's strings" (not a euphamism), zhou yu replies "a neglected instrument is like a neglected soul" (not a euphamism), "are you offering to duet?" says kongming through gritted teeth to which zhou yu replies "oh don't worry, i can see you're out of practise so i'll be gentle and take it slow," (not a--) and it's at this point lu su grabs huang gai by the elbow and goes "wow, what a nice bamboo grove! the two of us are going for a walk! a nice LONG walk FAR AWAY in the BAMBOO GROVE for THIRTY TO FORTY MINUTES! see you in THIRTY TO FORTY MINUTES!"
huang gai: i literally spent 30 years in the army you don't need all these euphamisms.
lu su: LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SCENIC RUSTLING OF THE BAMBOO!
*insert that scene from Flirting Scholar where zhou yu and kongming start fighting, they roll under a table, there is a brief skirmish, and they come out with their clothes swaped. they are playing doubles on a single qin the entire time.*

Hi LFH! Just thought I’d ask you what other projects could you see any TUA actors doing
personally for me I could see David doing the film adaption of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
I once had a conversation with a friend about Emmy being in the live action Hercules. My friend recommended Emmy being one of the muses, but then I kinda like the idea of her being Meg. (If you don’t know, she can SING)
immediately after I found out Wings of Fire was getting a TV show on Prime Video I could straight up imagine Emmy being Glory, Robert being Jambu, and Justin being Turtle. (If you haven’t read Wings of Fire yet I highly recommend it is SOOOO good)
oh interesting question
idk what they do irl but some stuff id like to see them do hypothetically/unrealistically:
tom hopper should come back and do bbc merlin sequel because holy fuck that also ended badly and it would be so cool to see them reincarnated as modern day and have arthur rise from the lake. give the knights their backstories. percival lost his family to cenreds army like show me that?? give percival an episode that isnt lamia?
i feel like david would be fun to see in a sci fi show (not star wars that sucks now) something like oblivion, moon, alien or a time loop like the edge of tomorrow.
emmy oh my god get her in musicals she has the voice and the energy. she could so be penelope or athena in a live action epic the musical. or one of the moms in beetlejuice the musical. im just thinking of musicals i know lmao but her doing a movie like wonka would also be amazing i love that movie and holy shit she has the vibes.
roberts very prolific tbh (he also seems to just be playing the same guy? no offense but he has been typecast a bit). id like to see him as a serious character? or a straight up slapstick comedy. lean into one of the extremes. hed be very funny as a live action vector from despicable me? im serious w that one actually.
aidan does intense very well, and i hate to be that person but he would do so well as a robin. maybe damian or young dick? we'd have to ignore the ethnic backgrounds a bit which sucks but i mean... robin adjacent character. seeing him play someone young would be a nice change. i realise i am just asking him to play baby five but yes. baby five. i would also like to see him play quiet characters, five is loud and i think aidan tends a bit that way too so itd be nice to see him do intense but quiet.
justin does better with quiet characters im sorry i wasnt taken by sparrow ben. it breaks the vibes a little but if they ever did a good zelda game i think hed do link as a quiet but dangerous guy quite well.
elliott... i know him from inception and beyond two souls. hes done a lot of action and sci fi and thinking films. maybe drop him in a fantasy too tbh. i would like to see him as a knight or rogue. holy shit him in a dnd movie would be cool. like the sequel to the chris pine movie pls. i loved honor amongst thieves.
idk i hope that was interesting at least lmao im not good the actors thing.
cameron britton who did hazel seems so charming as well id love to see him in more stuff as a wholesome character.

okay aot is over
i am genuinely happy with the entire story of aot. what a show and what a wild ride this has been!
i had some hopes that the anime would clear up a few things that were either mistranslated or hastily written in the manga (i def think the scene with armin and dummy eren has been massively improved)
BUT
wtf did this scene mean
idk man i am still so confused why this was in both manga and anime bc i don‘t get it and maybe someone who‘s smarter than me can explain???
look i thought isayama was gonna pull a „ymir will be reborn and given a chance, a life where she is finally free“ type of thing bc historia kind of looks like her and eren has ymir like in him pff idk so they were gonna reincarnate ymir this way
hey eren can literally loop and manipulate time itself this is not super out of the scope of possibility alright?! if he can scare his dad to kill kids, he can find a way to reincarnate someone!
also i think it would’ve been more poetic, like a part of him still lives on and is free of this titan shit world.
and yes i also see that it would be kinda weird for ymir to be born again in the fritz fam bc they were shit and awful but historia is not like that at all and proves that there is good within the family line (which is also part of ymir)
i also get that isayama probably didn‘t want to ruin the eren/mikasa dynamic by having him be the baby daddy of historia lol
and maybe historia wouldn’t be too happy to have her baby daddy be a mass murderer… ok i get why he chose not to go that route
BUT WHAT DOES IT MEEEEEEEEAN why are they talking like this and what is the point someone free me
mikasa lol

My thoughts on DSMP wilbur and QSMP Wilbur
I don’t mind if he makes it like, canon that q!wil is a reincarnation of c!wilbur. I think its fun when cc’s reference servers they’ve been on in the past.
But.
I don’t want him to remember his past life, or if he makes q!wil act too much like c!wilbur. The similarities should start and end at the result of making a character a self-insert of yourself (liking music, being weird, doing crime etc...). Maybe some gravitation towards dsmp members, but have a DIFFERENT dynamic with them this time. Don’t go out of your way to fuck a fish or sell drugs in a van as if thats somehow just imbedded into q/c!wilbur’s essence or whatever. AND DO NOT MAKE A STORYLINE/ARC WHERE HE GETS MEMORIES OF HIS PAST LIFE BACK!!! FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!
To me, the appeal of c!wil being reincarnated is that he did not get the happiest of endings, and seeing like, idk his soul or some shit get a second chance to be happy and find community is nice and brings a lil bit of closure in a sense. But I want q!wilbur to be his own person in his own right!!! One, because seeing him fall into loop and do the exact same shit as last time just ruins the whole thing abt him getting a second chance!!! And two, because I am also tired of watching c!wilbur.
Not in a *bad* way just in a C!WILBUR’S STORY TOOK TWO IRL YEARS ALREADY!!! THE FANDOM HAS BEEN ON THIS STORY FOR TWO DAMN YEARS!!! Ffs I want smth fresh!!! Please make this a new story I wanna see what you can do!!!!
#qsmp#WilburSoot#wilbur soot#dsmp#i hesitate to tag with dsmp#some of you guys give me war flashbacks#but that was dsmptwt tbf so im going to take a shot in the dark and let the tag stay

very small time loop fic rec list (if you can even call 3 fics a list)/ "man i do enjoy this trope when done well" proof i mentioned to @annieofhearts (i did right? or maybe i meant to? see this is what happens when you dont get enough sleep) but is also out there for anyone who enjoys a good time loop
if you knew the end, where would you begin? by pistachio_cat
from: avatar the last airbender (yes i read this during that time everyone was rewatching the series)
i dunno man. don't fully remember this just that it hit in the way something does at 2am. toxic yuri. technically reincarnation is tagged but it is literally a time loop she lives the same thing over and over and over again and its all vaguely insane but i remember it being good! azula there are many things wrong with you but i still love ya
The Definition of Love and Hate (complete but orphaned)
from: stranger things (again let me be clear i do not endorse the actions of the cast/producers i read this like a year ago)
this is a gem! again idk if this counts as time loop but its really fucky with time in a way i appreciate so i will include it! this was truly made for the nancy wheeler defenders out there and its painful at times (most of the time) but its well done as 100k of character study through weird time mechanics. big thumbs up
freeze, crash, burn, bury, linger by zoeyclark
from: yellowjackets
oddly relatable because apart from the obvious character and plot influenced bits it all very much feels like something someone would do if stuck in a timeloop; particularly at the start of the 7th chapter (BUT MAYBE THATS JUST ME). a really nice exploration of many things character wise and thematically and some great imagery as well (snow... thats all i have to say)
and thats about it! special mention to the time loop weed and couch shenanigans one (iykyk) i didn't include since these are all more focused on the time loop as a plot point. if you can't tell i very much value time loops as character studies; the trope kind of forces that because they are the only ones aware of circumstances typically. when done well, i also find these tend to lend themselves to nice prose. all of these sort of work even if you have no idea the plot of their source material (or you could dm me for a summary). idk man i love time loops, would read more but here is what i got, so have a great day n all that!
#very random but i mentioned it so i was obligated to do this#i expect nobody to read these i am defending my honor as a time loop enjoyer#nobody says stuff

any totk thoughts (just from osmosis bc idk if you've played it)
i haven't played it or really sought out watching it but i still have things from osmosis and i will say them,,,,, under the cut. very disorganized and randomly spoilery etc etc
Things I Would Have Done Differently If I Were Sonia
1- Been named "Zelda" instead. (nin10do you COWARDS are you really scared to have two different characters separated by untold generations named zelda NOW??? NOW YOU THINK THATS CRINGE???? fool. You did that in your first ever sequel and it was amazing. now you look scared and stupid. kill the part of you that cringes instead. In my head her name is Zelda and i dont care.)
2- not married that fake "Rauru". Like. OG Rauru is a cool fat ancient sage with an animalsona who protects the nukes away from everyone else and when you accidentally mess it up he hides and keeps you safe until you can go fix it. This new one is some imperialist that everyone is sooo obsessed with because his waist is snatched now. Or maybe i'll be more generous and say it's because they're furries that's more fair. But still like. Please there are others to simp over. he was all "oh im the first king of hyrule' and i was like 'oh.... no you're not'
(its actually ok that we have um. yet another first king of hyrule. Because we can have 3 first kings of hyrule, since we have 3 iterations of ganondorf now too. but we should still have 3 first zeldas. and we only have 2. because they messed up sonia. come on it would have been all NICE AND CLEAN AND BALANCED if there were 3 first kings, 3 first zelda, and 3 ganondorfs. This is the series about 3!!!!! but.... well perhaps next game we can have a third first zelda. perhaps i can be patient.)
(also love that we have a 3rd ganondorf. do you know how often i had to explain he does in fact reincarnate and that fsa ganondorf is a different one from oot? but now everyone knows theres more than one but less than the number of links even if they dont know exactly how many ganondorfs there are so. close enough! now ill just pretend he had a 3rd seperate origin story as well instead of 2 origins shared between 3 come on let the guy have something.)
This is unrelated but I think the Zonai are the evolutionary link between Ooca and the botw!Rito (since they did not evolved from the zora like ww!Rito). They look kinda dinosaur-y to me. i guess they're supposed to look kinda goat-y too? and rabbit-y???? i dunno i think they're generally fun. And also might be the results of unethical sheikah experimentation yeah i don't forget the temple of shadow............
OH and im very glad (our) Link wasn't the hero from the tapestry with Zonia. theres apparently some other Zonai hero with red hair who's briefly in it? i wish that Zonai was also named Link and got more to show but i was really not a fan of time-looping this poor link too, he had enough of that with the 100 year nap. if i can't have a gerudo link, at least we have a zonai hero maybe
but also in sooooo many fics i reserve the right to completely ignore this game. if it doesn't fit where i planned it didn't happen. this is like hyrule warriors to me. in another timeline.
LOVE all the yiga stuff and getting to fight with friends now. its what link deserves and his friends deserve. LOVE LOVE that Zelda and Link are so codependent there's not a word in the hylian language for them. i am a qpr truther for this particular zelink but i think that if these two were offered a way to fuse into a single being they would at least STRONGLY consider it. unhinged. love them.
incredible outfits for link and i love slowly discovering them as art passes my dash.
The way this world is even more open than botw is such a feat, the open engineering is just fabulous. I hope to see a new drone every week. Torturing the koroks is just. its horrible but i laugh every time .kjhghjkkjhjk whyyyyy these poor little tree dudes (*chanting 'crucify this one too' in my head*)
the way this game tried to both continue the botw 'honoring past games' and did a new 'gaslight you about the other games never happening' is a wild balance. Like, TWINROVA SHOWED UP??? in what i think is a very subtle detail in a memory??? maybe there's more of them in the game but it seems to be the same level as like 'hero of the winds' mentioned plus some salt around hyrule. excellent love that. but i also just saw a post gushing about how great it was that this game made this link theeeee most important specialist hero eeeever and the master sword was only ever for him and um. i just hope that isn't true. i think this game should add and not take away.
but hey twinrova showed up and there was that cool goth gerudo too!! i stan her.
oh and redeads in gerudo town or whatever it was? AMAZING. gerudo town was all spared from the calamity in the first game with no guardians making past the desert so having the town taken over and terrifying with the upheaval is just a good show of stakes stepping up.
OH!!!! and my number one favorite thing is that Link can make a drink that he was too young to order in botw. funniest possible thing that dude can do.
#i said the things i didn't like and then the things i did like...#so sorry to be negative at the start but i do love so many things i promise kjhghj#i just also have THOUGHTS that i havent been able to say so. yeah#anon#pocket talks to people#every single thing i just said was gained from osmosis. so . pinch of salt

#Well it could be branching time lines #Most likely theory *sigh* #But it could be time loops #Or just plain respawning #Personally I think that there is one timeline but infinite time loops that eventually join back into the main timeline #Sometimes with some differences #Which is why the lizard actually do respawn in game #And why the lineage system works like it does #Of course the respawn could also have an element of forced evolution #If you die too many time you turn into a stronger form of your species of applicable #Or perhaps everyone respawns back into time #And the void fluid just makes it so you go back farther and faster #But that's my personal theory that is almost certainly wrong #Sorry for rambling I just really like thinking about the reincarnation in rain world
no don’t apologize!! i like hearing other people’s interpretations of this! i think you’re right about the time loops, which is sort of what i was going off of here i think. noooooooot too sure how those work right now but the basic concept is right i think.
idk, my thing is that. moon is clearly incapacitated. but not dead dead. but there’s no way of knowing for sure if she’s ever actually died before without fully knowing how the reincarnation process works. in theory it should be possible that she’s died a million times over, revived, just to die again until one time she happened to not die. maybe it wouldn’t spawn parallel universes, but that point still stands: it’s possible she has died before. at least with what i’ve logic’ed out so far.
and that point for straw... kind of stands too. regardless of if she’s actually dead or not, it’s also possible that in her attempts to figure out how to do it, she had to die multiple times before finally going for good. we don’t know for sure, and with what we get of canon lore, we never will. and i for one think that’s really messed up, and i enjoy thinking along those lines. :D
in rain world it’s established over and over again that if you die, you just wake up again, in the same spot you were last time you woke up. moon herself says this: “like sleep like death, you wake up again—whether you want to or not.”
the multitude of parallel universes this could create aside. how many times has moon died? we know pebbles effectively killed her, but if he actually killed her, does this cycle apply to iterators too? and if he didn’t fully kill her, was she conscious the whole time before hunter revived her?
is sliver of straw still, in some parallel universe, trying to die?
#rain world#i enjoy horror. existential horror. eh?#one way or another though i think not knowing how many times moon/straw has done what they have#is definitely an interesting thing worth exploring#and maybe pebbles too? his systems have certainly decayed enough that it's a possibility i think#theorizing how canon could realistically work is fun#i also have Some thoughts about void fluid and how it could help condense the timelines/universes#but i'm more focused on hollow knight right now#i do not need a rain world longfic <3

Speaking of wierd theories,I saw a theory about Cyno having traces of king deshret by virtue of having (supposedly) that ancestor that was in the cutscene? Seems rather Farfetched to me but I do find it rather interesting.
And I don't think they meant that he's like a reincarnation of him or something.
Same thing with Nilou, though I find this one rather too much on the nose, cuz being the reincarnation of the goddess of flowers while also playing her in the dance?I mean I suppose it could also be interesting but I can't say I care much for Nilou so.
i think people are pushing it a bit with the reincarnation plots in sumeru tbh, but i think it could be interesting in a more metaphorical sense of the word
when you take the time loop into account for example, it could make sense to have some characters being "reincarnations" (although descendants would be a better word). and it could've made sense when the only thing we had was the 3.0 trailer, with nahida saying that "everything [here] runs in a loop", but now it's pretty clear that it was yet another decoy from hyv and what she meant was the samsara
however samsara is an important part of buddhism, and reincarnation is the key (with the whole being reincarnated until you reach nirvana - which would be sarva, mentioned by the aranara, in sumeru). i don't believe cyno is deshret's reincarnation or anything but maybe a descendant of the priest, but i haven't done his story quest and the king deshret cutscene has proven to be misleading with rukk shrinking SO
as for nilou i believe it even less, but we haven't seen much from her and she was completely empty during the archon quest so idk. i hope her story quest gives smth more bc personality-wise she's so boring rn 😭
anyway point is, i could see some of these being true, but i don't even know if it'll be relevant. it's like kokomi, who's very clearly the water dragonlord's reincarnation, but they didn't even involve her in the enkanomiya world quest, so idk if it'll be relevant at some point. we can only theorize </3

ABOUT THE SPOILERS
WARNING SPOILERS FOR MANGA AND 139
(you don’t have to post this one but i just wanted to garage opinions and idk how to to that without asks)
SPOILERS BELOW, LAST WARNING
i’ll admit that at some point i wanted eremika to be canon, especially after we discover that eren is a tiran and she hugs him way back in s.1
my reason for this is because they’ve both been my favorite characters and i just wanted them to be happy
but as the series went on it was clear that they weren’t meant to be because eren didn’t care for mikasa ROMANTICALLY. sure, he loved her and i believe that he said those hurtful things in s.4 so it would be easier for them to kill him and i really liked that mikasa was the one to kill him, it was very tragic and my heart broke.
but then girlie had to go on and kiss his decapitated head... i-
i love that eren and armin met in paths because armin was his best friend and the person that he loved the most, even more than mikasa imo. and eren saying that he doesn’t want to die because he loves mikasa and doesn’t want anyone else to be with her?
this is very degrading towards mikasa’s character because it just goes to show that she was the love interest all along
throughout the seasons there was never and indication that he was at least interested in her, so getting this full on love confession is... something
burying eren in the tree he liked to sleep in was very cute, but armin had to be there, they were best friends and it’s very sad that he wasn’t there.
i like the representaron of eren with a bird, i don’t think that he re-encarnated (is that how you spell it, idk english) but it symbolized him.
also the one that conflicts me the most, the fact that all the titans turned human again? like did they just go “miraculous ladybug” and everything went back to normal...
like i said, there was never an indication that this could happen so it’s weird that that was the solution, just revert everyone back to normal...
this ending is really confusing to me, and i was expecting the time loop to happen, it wouldn’t have been my favorite ending but at least better than this one i think, and that one at least made sense
Honestly, I'm not sure if I ever wanted eremika to be canon. Like sure, I've thought "that'd be nice... maybe" before, but aot isn't meant to be a romance anime, which is why that possible development never became a must-see for me and as you said, Eren didn't display any romantic feelings for her until Isayama spelled it out for us—in an unhealthy and randomly-placed way—in these last couple of chapters and a few other panels here and there (which even then just represented caring for a friend in my opinion)
I will bring up this post, because I think it's important to take into consideration the cultural context/circumstances of the creator, and I do believe that love doesn't have to be manifested in the most obvious ways, but even then it just doesn't feel right for the same reasons you mentioned. Also, when Eren and Mikasa were meant to run off into the woods together just like that? And without Armin? Even if they were truly in love and wanted to live out their romance for as long and much as they could, I don't buy it, but it's whatever.
I agree with Eren's misconception of love being harmful towards Mikasa's character; I mentioned in a post that it just makes her seem like a prop and even more so with the panels where she's sitting and sulking beside his grave, because it only means that she's reverted back to being the MC's "faithful companion" who just can't let go. I also didn't interpret the bird as Eren's reincarnation the first time around, but if that's the idea behind it, I guess it was just Isayama's way of giving him that sort of "bittersweet" closure of "having freedom in another life".
And that Miraculous Ladybug reference is spot on 😂 It really does feel that way, doesn't it? Same energy as "and then he woke up".
There are plenty of other things that have been left unresolved, as well as several messages being sent with this final chapter that are going to make the series very hard to defend once they reach anime-only fans or the GP. I love the characters and just about everything before season 4, but this last chapter is enough to leave fans embarrassed after speaking in defense of AOT and/or Isayama.

Mystery Clown certainly has a lot of the same/similar traits to Yuga, notably the makeup and the braided hair, but the Gerudo symbol is throwing everyone for a loop, but at the same time the stuff below the symbol is similar to the Sheikah teardrop, and the (white, blonde?) braid in front of the face is reminiscent of past Impas. Maybe a Sheikah descendant/reincarnation of Yuga? Thoughts? (It might be important to note that many theorize that Yuga is actually from Lorule’s version of the Gerudo tribe, due to some similarities in his looks, but nothing has ever been confirmed)
I SPIT OUT MY TEA AT MYSTERY CLOWN ASJASASDFSDDFLK THE WORD YOU’RE LOOKING FOR IS “KIP”
The gold trim of the cape reminds me of the Hylians, as we seen in Zelda’s and King Rhoam’s design. Plus the belt has that similar square gold pattern seen on Rhoam. There’s also that extra golden rope sash thing that I don’t know the exact name for, but again, that’s present in Hylian stuff, and also on Mipha, which I guess makes sense since both Hylian and Zora culture are European
Also, I’ve made some edits and brightened up a few of the photos here...
So firstly, there is some sort of design on the mystery clowns-- (SORRY I keept bursting out laughing at the name asldjdsflj) there’s a circular design on the mystery clows wrist/cuff/thing in the scene in the Yiga Hideout. Is it the Sheikah eye symbol? Can’t say for sure, and honestly, probably not, but who knows!
Secondly, we can tell that they are not Gerudo. The height, for one thing, is nothing like Gerudo, plus the skin and the hair. Although, it could be argued that it’s dyed but then that leads me to this picture again because
You can see they have very thin cheeks, like a corpse or skeleton. I’m not saying they’re undead, but they’re definitely passed the prime of their life. Perhaps a motivation like Yuga to be more youthful, and to merge with Ganon or something?
All in all, I’m sticking to my idea that they’re a Hylian of some sort, MAYBE sheikah. Just something more tied to the royal family than you might expect, given their outfit (cough cough, the fortune teller, cough cough) and perhaps their association with the Gerudo crest is...as an ambassador of some sort? An advisor? Given the tattered state of their clothes, I’d say they might have been disgraced or be on the run or something, or maybe Nintendo is just really hammering home the “this person is evil” type thing. Also I think this person is female, but can’t say for sure....considering apparently Yuga is a guy so....idk.
#theres only room for one mystery clown in this fandom and thats ME aslfkjdslkdfjssdf#hwaoc#aoc#age of calamity#hw age of calamity#Hyrule warriors age of calamity#hwaoc theory

Blazblue rewrites Part 1: The Age of Origin and beginning of the Looping World.
(put this on my Reddit may as well put it here)
As we all know, the Blazblue series is one of the most convoluted and over-complicated pieces of media ever. Mainly due to its quantum physics talk and very chuuni dialogue and a lack of good explanation for a lot of points. Naturally, one good thing about being a fan is that through the power of hindsight we can look at the entire series and basically fix what we think was messed up. Of course, we have this freedom since we are usually individual people, don't have a massive writing staff and marketing we need to appeal to, and pretty much the entire skeleton and pieces are there, they just need to be rearranged and/or be tweaked a bit.
I remember getting into Blazblue around the end of high school/beginning of college, almost 5 years ago. I thought the setting was neat and I am into anime action BS. Of course, the story was bonkers and made no sense until I started looking deeper but the main thing that has bugged me were the characters. There is just so much Bullshit that the characters do and brush off that just irritates me, especially when it comes to Ragna. This series has made me rethink the meaning of life, of showing kindness to people, or if "doing things because it's right" is a good enough excuse, how much should you desire your own happiness? All sorts of existential questions that Blazblue has made me think, not from the plot, but just from the BS character interactions.
If you check out my Ragna the Bloodedge tag, or have just been following me for a while, you will see/know how much I will defend this guy to the fucking grave because of all the bullshit that this guy is expected to take and deal with and it being seen as"inspiring" or "heroic" when it is really just sad to me. It isn't me liking the character, it is just a massive amount of pity and feeling sorry for him, to the point where I kind of have a massive bias towards him and end up making him an all-powerful unstable badass in most of my fic ideas with him. But I am getting ahead of myself.
I wanted to lay out my ideas for how I would make a Blazblue rewrite. If anyone wants to use these in their own fanfic, feel free. I don't give a shit about credit.
Starting with the timeline, we have the XBlaze series, Bloodedge Experience, and the core C-Series (ft.
the Phase Shift Novels, and Remix/Variable Heart Manga). In the actual story these are all separate “Possibilities”, or Timelines/Universes. That is dumb and I think that we can tweak things to make it all one linear timeline.
XBlaze takes place in the year 2050, 50 years before the Dark War is stated to begin, and 149-150 years before the main games start. This is plenty of time to make things different. We know from the backstory that Takamagahara, the god-supercomputer that mankind made, was not completed in this possibility due to Touya’s mother iirc. In my idea, all this does is delay the inevitable, Takamagahara will be made, just at a later date now. (edit) There is also the Mitsurugi agency, which was kind of behind the Wadatsumi incident in XBlaze's backstory. With their connections to the Mage's Guild, the Amanohokosaka Clan, and their desire to get the Azure, we could say that this is the agency that discovered the Susanoo, the Boundary, and did most of these experiments to the Prime Fields.
I do not know the exact year when Bloodedge Experience takes place, but I am going to estimate around 10-15+ years from XBlaze, putting it at 2060-2065+, since they do mention Mei as the head/leader of the Amanohokosaka Clan. I am not too sure what the branching-off point is here, Valkenhayn mentions Clavis having killed Naoto in the core C-Series Possibility so maybe it was during their initial meeting. But is Naoto surviving gonna change that much? The only other detail that would need addressing would be Raquel’s relationship with Rachel. According to the wiki bio “Raquel was created when a user of Soul Eater went havoc and killed hundreds upon thousands of people. Clavis Alucard stopped the user and killed them, but was forced to take the lives of 128,932 people in order to do so. When this happened, he held an Embryo. Three years later, the Embryo became Raquel and she was born. Maybe sometime later Raquel could end up being killed or something and another Embryo results in Rachel. I mean we never see or hear mention of a mother, or maybe it’s some reincarnation thing? IDK. We see how stern Clavis was with Raquel, so maybe seeing his first “daughter” die he ends up spoiling the next one rotten, leading to the kind of haughty holier-than-thou Rabbit we know today.
However, all of this needs to be put in perspective of the Origin and Terumi. I may mess up some of the finer details.
The plot of Blazblue started when Susanoo ditched his body, the Susanoo Unit, and then mankind discovered it underground. They excavated it, dug deeper, and found a Cauldron which led to the Boundary, within which they found the Master Unit, the God Computer that would allow them to control reality, and beyond that, they found the Azure, basically the primordial absolute force of the Blazblue Universe. However, the Master Unit can only respond to something anthropomorphic/humanoid and humans can’t survive the Boundary. So they made the Prime Field Devices, Androids meant to go into the Boundary. Pretty weirdly specific criteria that results in robot girls but I don’t see how I can mess with this.
One of them manages to reach the Master Unit and upon touching it she gains the Eyes of the Azure which gives it the power of the Azure and basically becomes not only sentient, but basically a god. The Humanity, freaked out about her new free will and the power she now has, tosses her back into the Boundary. Within the Boundary, the PFD, the Origin as we know her, sees her “sister” units all being tortured. Most likely to break any souls they have so the scientists don’t have to deal with their “free will” getting in the way of their plans. Maybe to bring in Terumi telling Noel that they became weapons, other groups heard of the guys making the PFDs and them getting god power and obviously would be trying to stop them/take this power for themselves, so they decided to make the PFDs into mindless robo-soldiers to fight them off. Origin gets mad and ends up making all of them sentient. Probably by Observing them as sentient, like she sees all of these things “like her” so obviously they must be sentient or at least have the potential for sentience. Kind of like Jotaro going “It’s a similar type of Stand '' to DIO and then getting Time Stop.
Anyways now mankind is fighting these robot girls who want revenge for being treated like tools, all humanity sees is all these in-human weapons killing them for no reason, just because destroying is what a weapon does, and with the Master Unit’s Phenomenon Intervention, they can just rewrite all of their failures into victories. Mankind sees the Origin and the Master Unit as basically the same thing, an evil machine god. His leads into why the Origin and Amaterasu can’t just be separated so Ragna doesn’t have to sacrifice himself to stop the time loops, the world sees The Origin and Amaterasu as one, there is no distinction. This is also apparently the time period when Clavis Alucard helped mankind make the Izayoi, with its Immortal Breaker and ability to resist Observation to fight against the Origin and the PFDs. Ironic that it eventually became known as the prototype for the Lux Sanctus: Murakumo, but I’ll talk about that later.
So what does mankind do? Make a Black Beast to destroy it. I mean we are told to believe that a Black Beast is the result of Azure Grimoire (or just a piece of the Azure) + Murakumo Unit = either a Black Beast if the fusion is imperfect, and a powerful Kusanagi God Slayer is done right. But tell me, why the hell would they build ANOTHER Prime Field Device to fight the PFDs? I will be getting into the exact nature of Black Beasts later. Mankind is apparently cool with the Black Beast destroying the world because so long as they can get the Azure and plug it into Takamagahara, which is basically a manmade Master Unit supercomputer, they can just reset time. But due to a bug or something, the Master Unit stopped this and when the world was destroyed she just made a new one based on her memories. This is the world the characters live in now. And since the last thing she remembers about the world is the Black Beast and obviously she doesn’t want the world to hate and try to kill her, the Black Beast enters the world with everyone having no context to its existence and no other enemy to fight, leading to the Black Beast going from a weapon of Mutually Assured Destruction, to the new Ultimate Evil Enemy of the World.
A few things we need to take note of here.
XBlaze and Bloodedge Experience would need to take place during the Age of Origin, between mankind discovering the Boundary but before the Prime Field War starts. I mean the two things needed for that part to start would be Prime Fields and Takamagahara, and while there is Es who is sort of a PFD, you could simply say that her model isn’t suited for full Boundary Exploration. I know I am really glossing over the Embryo stuff about her but I haven’t seen XBlaze stuff in a while and I would need to find a way to connect it with the Embryo in Centralfiction.
Apparently, there was some off-screen war in which Hihiirokane (the Soul Cutting Sword protected by Jubei’s clan, used by his brother Tomonori to fight Terumi, then put in Clavis’ grave) was used to fight some enemy, “Outside of logic”. I have no idea what this is and it feels like something that shouldn’t be glossed over.
Mankind made a Black Beast on their side to get the Azure and fight the Master Unit, which A. means that in a weird way the Black Beast was sort of on mankind’s side at first before the Origin retconned it into being the destroyer, and B. mankind would have needed to make a Murakumo Unit to fight the Murakumos, knowing that the Origin is making them sentient and turn on them, which kind of feels like a dumb move. But again, I will get to this later.
This will all lead into the Looping World. Now, this is weird because of the main thing which the loop revolves around, The Black Beast. It is either A. as Terumi says in CS, a Cauldron that went batshit (which is precedent by the short story That Which Is Inherited where Sector Seven tries to smelt a Nox but everything goes tits up and a Black Beast forms from the Cauldron (no souls or prime field required), or B. a Time Displaced Ragna and Nu. The Black Beast is a Self-Observing weapon. Observation in Blazblue basically means “deciding if/how something exists” by Observing itself, the Black Beast declares its existence in this time period, which means that no matter what time paradoxical BS you may try to pull, it will always appear (Kind of reminds me of the Time Medallions Clockwork gives team Phantom in Danny Phantom). But a less mind-mushing way to look at it could simply be that, no matter what, this will always happen. Like, say the Assassination of Kennedy is Observed as an event that must ALWAYS happen, then even if you find and stop the sniper. He is gonna still die. Maybe there is another sniper, maybe the sniper gets a good hit on you and manages to make another shot down the road, but anyway you slice it, Kenedy gets shot. That event is permanently locked in history and no matter what you do, this event is inevitable.
But suggestion A is weird because it could either mean that 1. He is talking about the first Black Beast from the Age of Origin, or 2. Since that part of the story probably wasn’t written yet and they are talking about this specific Beast, he is talking about the Dark War Black Beast, in which case there actually was a bit of time before the time loops started, or at least the very first loop, so then there was a bit of time before shit went sideways.
Maybe the Origin didn’t make a Black Beast war and it was all Terumi’s idea. The world would’ve continued as normal but since Terumi hated the Master Unit and mankind wanted power, they tried to make a Kusanagi but it fucked up and made a Black Beast, but without a publicly known Prime Field War to justify it, mankind doesn't see this as a necessary evil which will get the Azure and then reset the world better for them, it’s just a big evil monster.
Okay, that is my interpretation of the Age of Origin for my Blazblue rewrite idea. Not many changes since this is all pretty self-contained and not much needs expanding on. Just make sure to justify some actions and connect the three timelines. I probably missed out on a lot of finer details but I think I got the broad strokes of it. Feel free to correct me.
Next time I will cover the Dark War and hopefully go into explaining how I would make the Powerset make a bit more sense (Ars Magus, Grimoires, Nox Nyctores, the Azure Grimoire, and the Black Beast).

hm, it's 4 in the morning and i had another thought once again.
after we die, it's believed that we have 7(?) more minutes of brain power left inside of us that allows us to experience our entire life over in a dream. if it is true, that would make sense since in a dream, time feels stretched out and longer. and we occasionally experience a feeling of deja vu for no reason, but now makes sense if we're just reliving everything in a dream state.
and when we reach the end of our life right now, are we just in a constant loop or not? bc who knows, after those 7 minutes, it'll probably run out of power, so what happens next? ah, questions like these rlly interest me lol
— r. anon
and it’s ‘r anon making me go on an existential crisis first thing in the morning’ again. good to see you around babe! i vaguely heard of this topic once or twice but i never thought abt it this way. i always thought that reliving your life literally means living it again w no memories of what happens after. on the topic of deja vu, i much prefer that thought where your soul remembers bits and pieces of your past lives and stuff. sounds a little romantic, sharing something you once loved in a different place and a different time.
i dont think it would be a loop. honestly this whole reliving your life thing seems more of a flashback and when the flashback ends, you resume whatever remains of your life and when it ends, most likely nothing. just darkness with no more of your subconscious. or maybe one of those afterlife beliefs are true and we see heaven. or maybe we get reincarnated. idk but im not too curious to find out soon lmfaooo

this violates canon, but what if Minato knew he was going to reincarnate into Yu, and took steps to prepare for it? like stashing weapons and cash in Inaba, and maybe his Evoker? i think in canon Aigis held on to it, but i guess in this AU it was stored as backup. it'd also make SEES even more upset because he knew and didn't tell them.
(continuation of the protag reincarnation concept, accidentally saved to drafts instead of posting)
nothing violates canon if you ignore canon hard enough (๑ゝᴗම๑)
I’d imagine he’d find out about his upcoming reincarnation from someone in the Velvet Room (maybe Igor?), but idk how he’d figure out he’d be in Inaba unless he’s specifically told as much. Maybe he gets some sort of quick preview of his next life or something, and has to do some investigating to figure out the area? Afterwards though I can 100% see him preparing for the reincarnation like you said, and the rest of SEES would probs be really upset about his Evoker going missing after his ‘death’.
Speaking of the Evoker, what if during his first trip to the TV World, Yu is lowkey panicking b/c he hadn’t brought the Evoker with him? He might not know if he can even summon any of his Persona from his previous incarnation, but it’d definitely be nice to have the option to try. When he summons Izanagi for the first time, he’s about as surprised as Teddie and Yosuke.
(Also: picture Yu doing a solo visit to the TV World to use the Evoker, just to see if he can summon any of his old Persona. Up to you whether or not it works.)
Ngl I’m really interested in this aspect of the AU, because it would be easy to incorporate NG+ into the mix. Can you imagine being stuck in a time loop, only to find out that the next time you die you’ll be reincarnated as someone else instead of just restarting the loop? Or maybe you don’t even get a specific date, maybe it’s just a warning that any iteration of the loop could be your last. Since one of P3′s theme centers around mortality, the latter would be a good way to counter the apathy that would inevitably set in after being stuck in a NG+ loop for a few iterations. Plus, you could argue that it would be some additional justification for why he doesn’t tell SEES about the reincarnation thing. After all, he’s already (presumably) not telling them about being in a time loop – his eventual reincarnation would just be another thing he keeps to himself.

Imma do my anime hot take on this theme because I caaaaan. The isekai genre kind of does this both well and terribly- Imma step on toes, but Mushoku tensei angers me, because the MC was a man who lived a horrible life, dies trying to do... idk one thing semi right? But in his next life, while he claims he wants to live it right- yadda yadda, is still a massive pervert- like, uses the fact he was reincarnated to be a creepy AF child and spy on his maid and what have you- I couldn’t stand it. NOW ON THE FLIP SIDE, we have a series like Faraway Paladin. The MC vaguely remembers he lived a very terribly life, maybe he experienced a lot of loss- and is reincarnated. This time however, he WANTS to live a life to it’s fullest. He want’s to actually live differently, and we get to see that growth. ALSO, we get to see our MC deal with the same feelings he felt prior to his second chance and make it through because he actually tried and got stronger- Then you have feel good ones like By the Grace of the Gods where your MC worked for a black company just make make ends meet for him and his mom, but he loses his mom and ends up just living paycheck to paycheck, not really living, but then he dies- and is reincarnated, and is able to get a second chance at life and he studies slime monsters of all things and meets a family that showers him with unconditional love, and it makes him remember the warmth his mother had, and it gives him a sense of what family is and it makes me happy to watch it because there aren’t a lot of stakes but you get to see a person who had given up on FEELING EMOTIONS actually begin to feel those emotions they had suppressed for so long. and then you find yourself crying when the MC cries over being greeted for coming HOME LIKE WTF- SO GOOD. Simple, but effective. YOU FEEL THAT- It's like he finally gets to FEEL that sense of everything he lost in his previous life, in that moment. SO GOOD. Anyways- I hate how beautifully animated Mushoku Tensei is because I cannot stand the Main Character AT ALL. I can’t do it. (I haven’t finished it becasue I got tired of ““““waiting for the MC to grow up”“““ because apparently he gets better???) But Faraway Paladin is equally animated well and it does a fantastic job. 10/10 And if you want something that’s easy on the pallet but gives you a good sense of wanting to live life a second time, right- then by the grace of the gods. Also, if we wanna really talk about dying and coming back- cannot forget to mention Re:Zero- because that one (it’s more gruesome as a trigger warning) Deals with that theme a lot. But the MC when he dies resets back in time, and ends up in a loop until he can move forward into the next loop. Deals a lot of psychological trauma, and the MC takes a bit to grow out of their own ego, BUT he does and it’s done so well, and it really works well. IT IS VERY GRUESOME. It is very hard to watch. I still haven’t finished it, but I watch reviews ;v; because I am a baby. LET ME WATCH FEEL GOOD SHOWS DAMMIT!
controversial opinion but bringing characters back from the dead is fine and doesn’t cheapen the existence of death and mortality if there are sufficient emotional and narrative consequences. i’m talking guilt, i’m talking lingering resentment and grief, i’m talking rejection from those who’ve already begun to move on, i’m talking complicated feelings about being returned to a life you departed from without grace or preparation without your consent and now have to deal with the fallout of, i’m talking repressed feelings that cannot be acknowledged without hurting everyone involved, because you can bring back what was lost but what happened cannot be undone. and that’s why i could fight marvel studios and win.
#CAN YOU GUESS WHICH ONE OF THE GIFS IS FROM WHICH SERIES?#Anyways#I have a lot of feelings on isekais#I watch too many#but let me have my FEELINGS#rezero isn't in the gifs because I don't feel like finding a gif

Fanfic trope meme
Apologies to those of you who see this for a third time, as I’ve crossposted it to both LJ and Pillowfort. Feel free to comment over on there (or my other posts) if you like. And of course, feel free to grab this one and do it yourself, if you like.
***
Grabbed this meme from a couple of people on LJ. It's... well, apparently about fanfic tropes. Some of them more terrifying than others.
I have written:
-Hurt/comfort (Yeah, baby! Most of my fic is this.)
-Body swapping (Sort of? Souls slipping into each other's bodies for a bit? Jaffar feeling what Yassamin feels? Sex swap, I've definitely done.)
-Soulmate identifying marks (tattoo, red thread of fate, etc) (I have! The Throne of Solomon. And maybe The Past Forgotten counts, in its way. I may have written more, but I forget.)
-Snowed-in cabin/isolated together for extended period of time (The Jaffar/Pwinzezz Cavefic!)
-Found families (I guess the Samarkand gang counts for poor old Fadl? Even if Jaffar *is* his brother, so technically it is his family. But he does have his religious congregation and Zainab, and is... well, he always does seem to be seeking something, so he's the kind of guy to go for this trope.)
-Fairy tale/mythology AU (And not just when I am writing in *actual* fairytale/mythology fandoms. Which I am doing most of the time, what with Thief of Bagdad being a 1001 Nights fanfic anyway. So I'm writing fanfic about a fanfic of some age-old RPF (fantasy AU!) about historical figures from the late 700s/early 800s...)
-Enemies to friends to lovers (Yes, please! Aplenty. I'm surprised that enemyslash/FoeYay/Hero(ine)/Villain(ess), whatever you want to call it, isn't mentioned on this list.)
-Characters swap roles AU (Uh... I've written sexual switching in some isolated chapters? Like when Laura briefly doms Torsten in The Fall of Angels, to help him get over some traumas?)
-Friends to lovers (With RPS, Veidtbone in particular, and Theta/Koschei. This also seems to happen whenever I write femslash.)
-Magical connection (telepathy, etc) (Doctor/Master basically ruined me for all my other ships what with their telepathic ability. So that now, it feels less interesting for me to write love/sex that *doesn't* have telepathy.)
-Fake dating/fake marriage accidentally turns into feelings (see next trope)
-Royals/political marriage turns into feelings (These last two are pretty much the same thing in ToB, as I've had Yassamin marry Jaffar a couple of times--like The Past Forgotten and The King's White Falcon, but without him laying a hand on her for up to a year, until she finally grows a brain and realises how loveworthy he is after all.)
-Seemingly unrequited pining (Emphasis on the "seemingly." Jaffar's unrequited pining is painful enough in the movie, so there's no point in making him suffer any more.)
-Accidentally fell in love with the mission target (Well, *kind of,* what with Torsten. Lars-Erik was definitely his mission target in the original film, and at the start of Because The World Belongs to the Devil, he made no bones about having wanted to kill Laura Erika [the teenage girl version of Lars-Erik in this AU, to those of you just joining in] when she was born.)
-They break up (but then they get back together) (With Jaffar/Fadl. Fadl's stormed off in a huff at least twice in the past. And Doctor/Master is always the same old on-off car crash, isn't it? Although this is not a favourite trope of mine, as the setup would usually necessitate them being an existing couple in the first place, and I tend to not write canon or "plausibly lovers" ships because they're already happily together. What do Two and Jamie, Holmes and Watson etc. need me for? They're already as good as married. Let them have their happiness.)
-Supernatural creature/human romance (Sort of. I've written Time Lords/humans, humans/djinn at least. And surely wizards count as supernatural romance, anyway?)
-Reincarnation/'25 Lives' AU (What's with the 25 lives? Is this some big fandom thing again? One of the darkest, most fucked-up fics I ever wrote was the Master killing the Doctor during sex and fucking him as he regenerated around him. As you do. And there's reincarnation in one of my Jaffar/Pwinzezz fics, but I won't spoil it for the new readers by telling you which one it is.)
-Selfcest (possibly due to time travel) (I am scratching my head trying to remember when I wrote this and in which fandom, but I have the distinct feeling I've written it. I've certainly whacked off to that World Of Simm!Masters clusterfuck what with the pink dress so many times I... I think I broke two clit buzzers during that time. I've certainly drawn it. And drawn some Connies on Connies. And then there's, of course, Sarosh the Sexbot who's a clone of Jaffar, looks-wise, but he is very distinctly just a robot, not a living character as such--not the sort with which you could have a real, interpersonal dynamic. My problem with selfcest, in general, is that I like having that character dynamic--and that requires the characters to be different from one another. If it's two characters that are too similar--if they fulfill a similar role in the canons--it's hard to create a dynamic between them and to make it interesting.)
-Polyamory (Swinging away ALL the bloody time with the Roses!Jaffar and Yassamin, and Torsten/Laura. Sometimes I miss the monogamous 'verses.)
-Amnesia (I've got a post-movie "Jaffar comes back from the dead" WIP I'll probs never finish, because it doesn't seem to get off the ground. If I wrote this trope, I would have the characters gradually regain memory, though; complete mind-wipes are horrid. I did have Handy lose the majority of his cognitive/motor/Timey skills in No More and that was the main reason I had to... well, I'm not going to spoil it if someone hasn't read it yet, but it wasn't the cheeriest of fics. The Past Forgotten *sort of* has this, but I don't want to spoil as to how that happens.)
***
I could write:
-Daemons (Why the archaic spelling? I have written djinn, so I almost put this in the 'have written' section. I can't remember if I actually *have* written real demons, because I might have. Surely, Torsten counts...)
-'Everyone is evil'/mirrorverse AU (Well, mostly, if I want to explore "evil" characters, I write about those types of characters in the first place, without having to turn anyone evil. Devilry is the 'verse for that. Hell, usually it's the other way around; I try to look for the human elements of the baddies, or at least explore their logic--what makes them tick, what makes them the way they are. So, IDK, I could've also put this in the "unlikely to ever write" section.)
-And they were roommates! (This would be terrible and also hilarious, whatever characters ended up becoming my victims. Even if I'm more interested in those hurt/comfort plots, overall. And I have always found it *impossible* to live under the same roof with other people because I need peace and quiet and solitude too much. So this is almost a bit too much like the sorts of negative RL experiences I don't really want to get more of in fic. But I *could* write it as a comedy for cheap lols, especially if the stress were resolved by hot bonking, ASAP.)
-'They all work in an office' AU (Otherwise, I would've put this in the "just no" category, but... the Barmakids were civil servants. So I *could* write Jaffar and Fadl drowning in paperwork--"WHY DID WE EVER introduce paper into THIS EMPIRE?!?" and cursing their fates and Jaffar restraining Fadl from braining Harun al-Rashid with a paperweight. Same with Lina doing Zainab's books and trying to hold back The Fist of Death when Fadl carelessly drops a piece of his lunch over her perfectly calligraphied accounting.)
-'Falling for a coworker/teammate is a bad idea' except this is fiction so it works out (Maybe. Just maybe. But it'd also be in a medieval ToB context.)
***
I will probably never write:
-'Groundhog Day'/karmic time loop (I just never got the appeal of this. Sounds like the sort of thing experimental writers would like? The sorts who really like filling in bingo cards and challenge lists?)
-Vampires/werewolves AU (I'm not that big on either. Super-unpopular opinion coming up: I prefer sex to the sublimation of it that vampires are often all about; bloodsucking in lieu of sex, and/or being seen as way better than sex just always feel to me like a cheap cop-out from writers who are disappointed in sex, or afraid of it. I've never grokked it any more than that stupid, stupid "chocolate is better than sex" quip from women who don't know what masturbation is--yes, it fucking well is sex, TYVM! I much prefer to make partnered sex better than it is IRL by adding supernatural stuff like telepathy to *that*. Immortality alone is interesting to explore, as are Gothic themes, but all the usual themes that vampires *specifically* usually represent just... either hold little interest for me, or then, I can explore them in other ways.)
-'Pride and Prejudice' AU (I don't hate Jane Austen, but it's not my fandom. That kind of society stuff and being witty over teacups in bonnets has never really been my thing--if anything, I usually have my characters exist in their own bubble, isolated from society and its restrictive mores and social stresses.)
***
JUST NO!
-Coffee house AU/food service AU (AUGH! Please, no coffeeshop AUs for me; the world is full of them already. Maybe I could write it as some terrible, short parody? Or doodle it? But no more than that.)
-Hogwarts AU (Haven't read HP. Young Adult isn't really my genre. I know, I know; I've just lost all my WLW cred.)
-High school/university AU (I've done Time Lord Academy-era stuff with Doctor/Master, but I expect this means a sort of American high school/university AU with jocks and cheerleaders and shit. Hell, no. Again, the exact sort of horrid society stuff I would rather have my characters escape from.)
-Adopting/raising a baby (Erm, not unless you count Jaffar/Yassamin adopting a cheetah? They do have kids in some 'verses but there's none of that everyday baby stuff that this question/trope probably implies. I'm squicked by babies, sorry.)
-Unusually specific occupation AU, like, the Author clearly has the same job (It worries me that this is, by virtue of its inclusion here, apparently seen as normal and acceptable..? When it's crap fanfic, inserting yourself into something that should be about the *established* characters instead. Jesus, I don't want to go in expecting a fanfic, and then find out it’s your diary instead! Unless you're Anaïs Nin. And even if you really *do* want to write about yourself, then just... write original fic? An autobiography? A blog? Write an OC that has your job. Don't do this false advertising where you insist it's fanfic when it's not. That's a dick move towards your readers.)
-Loyalty kink (see next trope)
-Alpha/beta/omega (Too creepy. I can write about piss, shit, incest, necrophilia and cannibalism, but not these last two. Any more than I can glorify the Nazis I've written about; I either take the piss out of them, as with Strasser, or just step outside of their politics and bring them into the land of happy sexings like with von Kolb, with the aim of dragging him out of that madness and leaving it behind.)
-Hot single parent(s) (Please. Rundvik: "You love children." Torsten: "I loooooathe themm.")
-Unrequited pining (Too much of an emotional squick. Has to be requited. I write fanfic to fix things, to avenge wrongs, to set things right. I don't write them to make the characters more miserable than they already are. Unless it's for temporary, character-development purposes, that is.)
