foods and games would be the most important factor chan takes into consideration. your pool of dinner choices might be a little more limited when you’re bound to a certain location, but that’s what his little games are for.

you’re feeling like having some fried chicken? of course he’ll get them for you, but make sure you win the rounds of truth or dare or you might not be able to get even a single bite of those golden goodness (who are you kidding—he’ll definitely cave once you put on your puppy eyes, just like how seungmin taught you). hot pot night? no worries, his uno cards will help you two determine whether your dinner of the night follows his mild tastebuds or your daring ones. chan will get your every dinner requests, and put a fun twist on them just to see your smile.

when all the food is gone, chan would then pull out the weighted blanket he bought and kept especially for your date nights, all under the pretense of ‘i heard it’s good for you’ (when in actuality, he just needed wanted a tiny extra help in keeping you glued to his side).

what you’ll be doing from then on is a free arena—there are days where you’d just talk for hours on end, laughing at whatever silly things each other would say. on other days, you’d spin a wheel and let fate choose which of your all time favorite movies will you be rewatching that night (which, oddly enough, mostly fell to either the deadpool series or a few ghibli movies). there are also days where both of you decided to just melt next to each other while doing your own thing—chan with his laptop, while you, on the other hand, finishes the book you’ve been dying to read all throughout the week.

just as you’re about to feel drowsy after all fully digesting your dinner, chan would then draw a warm bath for you to relax in, bath bombs and all. he’d always tell you to take your time when you’re having your bath; he needed the extra time to pick out your set of matching pajamas set (yes, he wears one too), as well as setting up the candles and the new galaxy light projector he just bought a couple days ago. you once told him it looked pretty, and being the good boyfriend and devoted astrophile he is, of course he remembered it.

if your bath was chan’s way of taking care of you, then you doing his skin and hair care routine is your way of taking care of chan. you always treasure every opportunities you have to be so up close with him, taking note of his features while he’s surrendered under your gentle touch. you’d note every single speck of his freckles, every stray curls on his forehead, every faint smile lines he had etched over the years on the surface of his skin, which only grew in definition after he met you.

With The Crane Wives my favorite changes from time to time. I remember when I was ill and basically bedridden for two months, I'd spend hours just listening to all of their songs. Rn my favorite is I Aint Done. Apparently it's supposed to be based on some urban legend? I like to think of it as some tragic sapphic story

Marianas Trench is another one of my favorite bands. If you were a teen like me who loved watching AMV's in the 2000's to 2010's, their songs are often used for ships lol. (i get the feeling you might be a bit on the young side tho, so sorry for talking about some oldies here) Hard to pick a favorite too, but maybe this one since it's the first one of theirs I heard

I havent ventured too deeply in rap heavy songs, but this is one I like a LOT. The pre-chorus and chorus are such killers too and a lot of fun to sing lol

Jordan Fisher is such an underrated gem. Their songs take me back to the classic RnB from the 2000's. And watching them perform is kinda captivating.

There are also a lot of good songs in my country I could talk days about, especially this one by Ben & Ben. The mv stars their bassist and keyboardist who are dating irl, which makes it even cuter

And then there are so many broadway songs i like.... oh my god so hard to choose........

Beetlejuice is my favorite musical, so I gotta choose one from it. The lyrics for the songs in this musical are so good, but especially with Dead Mom. The bridge where Lydia turns all soft because of how much she loved her mom gets me everytime. (fun fact for those who dont know, the voice actors for Pentious/Adam and Rosie were the OG actors for the title character and the step mom)

Lastly, I havent actually watched the Waitress yet(I'm talkin about bootlegs ofc) but the soundtrack's really good. The voice actor for Niffty was also there, so you might wanna check it out just to hear her sing, she's phenomenal. This song is undoubtedly the best of the bunch, and there's actually a version song by Lucifer's VA that is absolutely heart-breaking, but I'm putting the original version in the post for the intended message of the song because its important. Also this animatic is kinda insane. Jeremy Jordan's version of this song really is worth checking out too for sure

For your ask game, what’s your favorite thing you’ve ever written?

. . . god I don't even know, man, that's a LOT of things, hahaha. And like, that answer definitely changes depending on the day/year/phase of the moon. So you're getting a couple answers here! Also I'm gonna keep this mostly to DC and only include finished fics, because me picking between WIPs would take a thousand years and also probably kill us all, lol (ignore the fact that a couple of these fics have sequels in-progress right now, STILL COUNTS OKAY??).

everything happens for a reason. sometimes that reason is that you are stupid and make bad decisions. is one of the funniest fucking things I've ever written, full stop. Lex is SO fun to write, seriously, I could write him all fucking DAY.

I'm really proud of blondes really do have more fun, both because of how much it seems to have affected/touched people who read it and because I think it was my first experience with writing gender euphoria as a major thing and writing, like, an actual explicit trans narrative? Like, I definitely wrote genderfuckery and implications and metaphors before that and probably even some trans characters, arguably, but that's the first story I really remember deliberately just making about being TRANS. And also holy shit, man, did I ever love writing gender euphoria for the first time, especially because I'd mostly only seen gender DYSphoria as a focal point in other stories and it just didn't/doesn't resonate with me the same way. I'm not trans because everything else makes me miserable, I'm trans because that's what makes me HAPPY. I don't remember if I was intentionally thinking that at the time, but that's the story I wanted to write for that one.

one day this will all be yours and you found me when no one else was looking are both concepts I love and found really cathartic to write and was very pleased to finish. I love that they're sort of "families of choice" fics about, like, actual BIOLOGICAL families (like, in the context of the fics, anyway), which probably sounds weird but is a concept I'm sort of painfully fascinated by--like, about the fact that you CAN choose your family, obviously, but sometimes you're lucky enough to find out that you had someone worth choosing already and just didn't necessarily know it, or to both grow into people who CAN choose each other even if you had problems or lashed out due to outside traumas or didn't always understand each other. That's, like, very personally relevant and meaningful to me, the idea that maybe the thing that got all fucked-up and the choices you made when you didn't fully understand the consequences of them can still be worked through and repaired and made into something new and better.

Also, special mention because this one is back a few fandoms but zero humble on it: best friends means you get what you deserve is just really, really good, and I did GOOD on it, hah. I took a three-word prompt/concept and turned it into 17k of "hey, doesn't this make more sense for why this character is the way he is, and isn't this what the main character actually wanted??" in genre-savvy explanation of why the sidekick character might stick around for the antisocial asshole hero and seem perfectly happy to base their life largely around them no matter how said hero treats them, and then I made the Consequences(tm) happen to Jaskier and Geralt, both bad AND good. I am just SO dang proud of that one, UGH I love it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ FRIENDSHIP, AND THE CONSEQUENCES THEREOF.

You and Frenchie meet in line at the Jitter Bean near the hideout. He strikes a conversation with you because you seem interesting — the guy loves tattoos, both for the artistry and what people usually do to get them, and when he spots a book in your bag, he gets pretty curious.

After you both order your coffee and head over to the pick-up counter (bro's not going to slow down the line), he starts a conversation with you, asking you about the meaning of one of your tattoos.

Through that, you two have a pretty good conversation, where he's able to glean what books you like and dislike. From that, he very smoothly asks if you'd like to go out to a nearby secondhand bookstore around the corner once the weekend swings by.

After that, he gets your number — he typically has a policy of "ask for date first, then number" — and then takes you on a date to the secondhand bookstore. Through that, you learn about each other's tastes, and he falls even harder, especially because of your taste in poetry. He's mostly a Neruda, Mistral, and Huidobro guy, and whether you share the same tastes, he'll love getting to know your style.

He'll sneak-buy you a book (as well as paying for anything you choose, because he's a gentleman), and throughout the talking stage and dates, would surprise you with books you like or have mentioned getting.

Frenchie likes horror, but is pretty limited in his tastes; mostly, he likes the old-school stuff (he's a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock's more suspenseful work, even if it's not up to today's horror standards) so he gets a far more expansive

While the dude would be shell-shocked at first, because even if he's seen his fair share of violence IRL, seeing it on the screen would be a lot (like, people do this for fun?)... he'd start to really, really love it, especially because you're able to explain what makes you passionate about it and any plot points/motifs/etc. he missed.

But... he'd grow to love it. He'd definitely become one of those people who shout "you're an idiot, don't go in there/do that!" in any films you watch (in a French accent, of course).

Absolutely adores your sense of humor, especially because it allows him to banter, and the guy loves banter.

After six or more dates, he'd ask you to be official upfront, likely over a meal cooked by him and a well-worded talk about how much he values you, your kindness, and your intelligence in his life. And, when you say yes?

Expect queen treatment.

He's a very physical person, so he'll always have an arm around you or a hand in yours, as long as you're comfortable with it.

Loves, loves, loves your freckles, calling them "petites constellations" and kissing them, no matter how cheesy it is.

Loves picking up things for you that remind him of you, whether big or small, particularly seashells that they sell at those hippie nature stores (he goes to them to stock up on incense) and, as mentioned, books.

I'll be honest: Frenchie is actually really, really scared of the ocean (I mentioned this in another ship, but it's because the expansiveness freaks him out), but he'd try his best to get over it — or at least reduce it — for you. On special occasions, he'd take you to the NYC beaches, and while... a bit awkward... he'd put on ocean documentaries and the like since you're a very intellectual person.

Is insanely into you learning other languages, and would love to sit by your side when you learn them. Also would 100% encourage you to learn French, even if you only learned a couple phrases.

And, on that note: does not care if you sing songs "badly", the guy thinks it's the cutest, most beautiful thing ever. If there are any

Frenchie doesn't have any tattoos due to not really having the time to get them, and would very curiously ask you about yours. He loves how they look, and based on your advice on the best tattoo shops, would get one as long as you were by his side.

Also mentioned in a lot of ships and also his dating HCs is his complete openness about The Boys. He'd introduce you to them once you became official and bring you around as much as he could, as long as it didn't put you in any danger.

Kimiko loves you (and I was really, really close to shipping y'all until I got the second message). She thinks you are the sweetest person, and, like Frenchie, digs that you know multiple other languages.

She's not that judgmental of a person, IMO, and would teach you as many signs as she could, and wordlessly, kindly adjust anything you did wrong.

Kimiko doesn't have much interest in horror movies, mainly because she's seen enough of it herself, but really, really loves novels, and horror novels in particular. She'd seek out a lot of recommendations in you and recommend you some herself; she's a big fan of Stephen King, particularly Pet Sematary.

And, unlike Frenchie? The woman loves the ocean, and would 100% go there with you as much as she could to have picnics with you.

Butcher loves you (platonically), particularly because of your sense of humor. He really enjoys people who are sarcastic and hardworking — it's how he and M.M. bonded in the first place, even though they have disagreements now that both have started pretty different lives — and loves to banter with you.

And, like Kimiko, will seek recommendations from you (except for movies, not books)... and, when you give them to him, he will turn them off, and wonder what on Earth is going on in your brain.

While the man faces a lot of horrors IRL, they are real, and not... that... so he'd definitely be confused, but would have a lot of respect for you, because... what the fuck. Not a lot of people can make him think that, at least in a "they're a good person, but what did I just get myself into" way, opposed to "they're a bad person, and what did I just get myself into". Butcher likes that. When you're dealing with Homelander, that is refreshing.

He wouldn't ask you to hang out outside when you visit The Boys, but if you ever stayed over while Frenchie was working on a recipe, he'd go out of his way to talk to you.

Annie struggles a lot with writing — she's well-spoken, but not well-worded, if that makes sense — so she'd start talking to you more intentionally once she became in charge of the Starlight Foundation. Of course, she would introduce herself to you upfront, but she's a busy woman, and wouldn't have a lot of time to talk to you one-on-one.

Through that, you two would become close. Both platonically and romantically (purely platonic for you), she has a thing for artsy types, and would think you're the most genuine, sweet person ever. Like Kimiko, she'd make a constant effort to hang out with you, mostly at coffee shops or, during late nights, at the Starlight Foundation, where she'd order takeout on her just to talk.

She really clicks with her sense of humor, particularly because she can sense the vibe of you being a sweet personat heart, and would also be another to banter with you.

(And, on one night where she had a bit too much to drink, even as a Midwesterner, would confide in you her fears about going to college and seek advice. She'd apologize to you the day after, but feel proud that the woman confided something to you that she had't even confided in Hughie).

Hughie would have more free-time with you, and would like you a lot (especially with Annie talking you up, which she does 24/7 — that woman would die for you). Unlike the others, while Hughie would respect your interests, he's terrified of horror (he caught a glimpse of "Alien: Resurrection" when he was young and it really, really scared him, to the point he can't engage in horror-SciFi, or even horror in general) so he wouldn't engage... but he would love to hear your recommendations for books, and would essentially start a "The Boys Book Club" with you.

He's really, really not a reader, but he wants to be, and he'll take your advice like Jesus'.

M.M. would start out pretty reserved, but would open up to you a lot more the more you swung around, mainly because he needs familiarity before he really opens up, but would become a friend after a good month or two.

He wouldn't be as close of a friend as Kimiko or Annie, but he'd be a friend, for sure. He really, really loves your kind nature — it's a refreshing change of pace in "The Boys" Universe — and, as a huge reader, would love to hear your taste in books and any recommendations.

im soooooo emotion over dearly beloathed. it is so good as an epistolary work, and i genuinely feel like that format/style/genre worked really well for the story, it let us know the characters through how they portray themselves to others and who they are to different people/groups. i also loved how my understanding of Freth grew naturally over the course of reading it, I didn't notice until i was like "oh yeah that's just the culture there. ofc they'd do something like that" because it was so fluid and seamless.

every twist was well set up and just. it was crack-y and comedic, but those only made the emotional parts hit harder????

anyways. favorite random character/not main one. go! (i choose herohqphobic) also was there any like. reference or small thing (maybe characters who had different usernames across platforms or something?) that you loved and nobody seemed to notice?

I could genuinely go on and on about Freth as a city because it's based after where I was raised, Hong Kong. The superhero genre is most commonly associated with American comics. It feels like their cities are either in USA or USA-inspired. To me there's subconsciously an inherent USA vibe even if that's not the actual case. I felt the pull myself before going, hold on, I live in a city, it's a pretty significant city, and theoretically superheroes can exist anywhere.

I'm of course biased on this but Hong Kong is an interesting city with interesting implications if you use it for a setting. And especially because it naturally seems so "cyberpunk". Densely populated, gives off the impression of being highly urbanised, but 70% of the land is not developed. Has a natural harbour, next to the sea, at the mouth of a river, but is hilly and full of scenic spots. Well developed public transport system (if the rail goes down for half an hour it gets on the news). The city with the most skyscrapers in the world, has one of the world's highest life expectancy (I'm still confused by this lol), ranked 4 in HDI for 2022 (also confused by this 💀 like we're above Denmark and Sweden?).

I wanted Freth to be busy, hectic, fast-paced, rich, technologically savvy. A glittering city with heroes for celebrities. Freth is an important port which is why the heroes fight so hard to protect its infrastructure for the ~economy~. But then the government decides the heroes are getting too powerful and culls the herd.

Anyways. I love all the random characters. Flora balefires_thighs had quite the arc pivoting from Tach anti to Tach fan (and is still bitchless, rip), but I have to go with arcussy because I love that name 😭😭😭 like Arucs is their babygirl meow meow grown adult son who cheated and got "cancelled" etc but it's fine ❤️ they still love his annoying ass ❤️

Small thing that didn't get picked up on! The location names! I based a lot of those on existing places in Hong Kong— Triple Shark Territory (Tsim Sha Tsui), Cannon Hill (Fortress Hill), Crossway (Causeway Bay), etc. Lots of these names have animals in them, like Dolphin Bay and Starlingfield, and these are based after real species that can be found in HK— except for one. Ravenwood. I don't think ravens exist in Hong Kong, making it fitting for an underground human experimentation lab. I don't expect anyone to know this though, it's more of a fun niche trivia for myself.

I don't know if this is obvious or not, but Cora has a crush on Archie. And Reina likes Cora while Lyra and Ben are doing their whole situationship thing. The consequences of crushing on your best friend.

Final note: the four main characters spell out Blue Bats. Blue for civilian names (Ben, Lyra, Uma, Ethan (he chooses this eventually)), and Bats for (future) hero names (Balefire, A??, Tachythanatous, S??). The year is also 827 because Aug 27 is when the MCC9 teams dropped lol. 🤡

Heyyy! Question for you: What's the best writing advice you have for other writers? Feel free to go in depth if you'd like!

Okay so to be honest that's a complicated things to me as each person will react differently to any advice given...so I'll break it down a bit and people can pick and choose from the statements most of this is personal so will not work for everyone.

If you have trouble spotting errors change the font you might not find everything but you will catch more of it...my recommendation would honestly be comic sans but if it doesn't work for you try another.

Accept that your story may not be perfect but you tried your best and beta readers will help smooth it's out more....they are a life saver be it a fanfiction or an original story.

Write what it is you want to write...if you change it to much you will not enjoy the story nearly as much be it a fanfiction or original work.. although on original works you do have to keep publishing standards in mind if you intend to go that route...also not going that route so... don't know a ton besides always read the small print.

If you hit a roadblock and time doesn't fix it then perhaps go back a chapter you may have went the wrong direction.

Another thing to remember is that your story is just that yours...add some twist and turns you enjoy or s little Easter egg that only certain people would know...have fun with your writing and it will show in the work.

On the other side of that

Writing will not always be easy and will push you at times.. remember to take care of yourself while crafting your worlds.

You will not catch all your mistakes and while it's embarrassing it's a part of life and having autocorrect... unfortunately along with any other number or reasons...

While you shouldn't be to critical of your work you will not improve if your aren't critical at all...its a hard thing to balance

Take advice from others when it's applicable and don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't know something .. most people who know about the subject will be happy to talk about it with you to some degree and will be way better than google.. although it doesn't hurt to double check your sources.

Beta readers and alpha readers can help troubleshoot but at the end of the day the decision is yours to make...and no two people will see things the exact same way, which is why beta readers are usually an important step if you can handle it. Although I always recommend the person to do the first read through be someone you trust and who's opinion you value...it makes things flow easier for both parties usually... although if you don't feel comfortable with friends reading it than perhaps a stranger works better for you...(Not my area of expertise)

While it's is your story sometimes it doesn't hurt to keep the readers in mind as well as the genre's general rules or structures... Sometimes stories just don't pan out for one reason or another..don't judge all of a genre on a few.

And last but not least not everyone is going to like your work and that's okay because eventually your work be it original or a fanfiction will find a fandom even if it's a small one...

once you post/publish you never know who has read it and you don't know how it effected them...it could be the story that gets someone through a rough time or it be someone's comfort story ...it could be completely average and that is something you will rarely ever find out

I'm not sure who all wants to see this so I'm not going to tag many ... although I would like to include a special thank you for beta reading @gioiaalbanoart who has already helped smooth it out a lot already and I'm looking for to seeing what we end up tackling in the second reading.. and your opinion of the last few chapters lol 🫂

...And Again Into the Light (Elucien)- This is a fic I cowrote with @crazy-ache. After our joint writing adventure where we wrote Dear Lucien, Dear Elain, we wanted to write together again. I suggested we write a horror romance story because I thought it would be a fun co-writing genre because we could leave each other with both spooky and sexy cliffhangers for the other to pick up. And that is exactly what we did. When we write together, we start with a basic idea and structure and we really "yes, and..." the rest of the process. I really like writing horror. It's one of my favorite genres and this was an opportunity for both me and Ariana to play around in that sandbox. And I think we did a DAMN good job at it. I think it's a pretty unique piece too, which is kind of a theme we've had in the projects that we've co-written. We both were really inspired by the idea of Elain and Lucien being trapped in a haunted house together, and what we ended up creating was a interesting exploration of the mating bond (because duh, it's them) on top of all the haunts and scares that were going on.

Kneel Before Me (Elucien) - I wanted to include this one because it was the first fic that came to mind when I read this question. I love this fic because both the inspo and the premise is kind of unhinged for me. This fic was entirely driven by fandom ship war wank. At the time, the new ship war topic of discourse was whether or not Azriel really could defeat Lucien in a blood duel, and the takes were driving me nuts. So, Kneel Before Me was me channeling my rage into art. The premise is Azriel and Lucien spar on the HoW's roof top and Azriel eggs him on into a real fight that tests the theory of who would actually win in blood duel like circumstances, followed by some hot Elucien smut where I might have went a little crazy writing an excessive paragraph long description of Lucien's dick because all of the bat boy obsessions, wing span jokes, and just generally people forgetting Lucien's existence and that he's HOT. And hey, look. I know when I'm cooking and I fucking COOKED with this fic. Even though I did tag it anti-Azriel because I wanted to be upfront that the fic doesn't depict him in a positive light, I've had a lot of Azriel fans read it and confirm for me that they don't actually think it's anti-Azriel at all and they like the twist I incorporated that made it all make sense and feel in character. Because even if I'm being a little cracky, I can't help but want things to make sense for the characters as they are.

Summer Heat (Elucien + Erixius) - This fic is my big multichapter fic that is now turning into a series with the sequel I'll write once I'm done with Pull Me in Deeper. The inspiration was really simple. One of my falling asleep day dreams included Elucien having some fun and awkward flirty moments in awkward and making out on the beach and I was like, "okay I keep thinking about this so I should write it." It definitely is an example of my first outline way underestimated the story it became. I didn't even initially have a plan to have a significant Eric x OC side story but once I created Alexius it really just became an animal of its own. This story I think is some of my best work in that it really spans the spectrum of my skills - comedy, romance, smut, angst, and generally a decent plot. It's the first time I made an OC. I did some new world building. And from experimenting with those the story blew up into something way bigger. I anticipate Golden Visions, the sequel, to be an even longer story which sort of gives you a perspective on how much I was inspired by both of those processes. At its core, I really wanted Summer Heat to be a romantic comedy. And I think it still has that essence but I'm not sure it can really be called that anymore with some of the angst and fantasy world building I built into it changed things. I also tried to write a slow burn for Elucien (and very much not a slow burn for Erixius) which I think I was successful at by my definition of a slow burn lol.

2. A notable time a narrative / character has looked me dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing”

Either one of my long fics to be honest. When I started writing fmn, it was supposed to be a 10k one-shot and turned into a 150k monster. When I started writing s&w, it was supposed to be 50k, and we’re at 124k and I’m halfway through now. In fmn, I blame Bokuto. In s&w, I blame Kuroo and Iwaoi, because they introduced these ridiculous side-plots that were never meant to be there. And in s&w, I also blame Atsumu, because turns out that he’s more fun to write than I originally thought. They all raised their middle fingers at me and are so mean actually

4. the plot bunny I’ve been carrying for the longest? Bonus: Do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential regret?

Mmm I think that would be my high fantasy idea? I’ve had it since I was 13-ish but I don’t think I’ll ever end up writing it. I do think about why I keep ignoring it, but I think it’s just because it’s an intimidating genre, though it makes me sad that this holds me back from trying. (I did start drafting a fictional language and its grammar, but got stuck while working on my thesis.) The deep existential regret is there for sure :)

13. A writing experience that has pleasantly surprised me

I’ve been doing some original writing lately, and I have a submission for a student magazine that got accepted. I had to work together with an editor and send my draft back and forth to work on it and I was dreading it—it’s so jarring to send your writing to someone and them editing it. But it was the loveliest experience I could have ever asked for, and I am so glad I was brave and send in an idea that they ended up accepting. That being said, I also have my most recent writing experience where I’m actually working towards a deadline to have it published (and available for judgement from a jury and also available for purchase?). It’s been really scary IMO but, after writing my first three chapters, my best friend read them and gave me feedback, while my other friends encouraged me to do it. And it’s just so lovely to finally manage to be open about me being passionate about writing and having my friends be so lovely and supportive :)

21. A writer to co-write a book with and what we’d write about

Honestly my favourite author is R.F.Kuang and in my dreams, we are working on a novel together. I don’t know what we’d write about, but I think we would have a similar passion across genres as well as an affinity for linguistics, and I think we’d make a neat team. I’d also learn so much from here so that would be pretty cool overall. In terms of fanfiction writers, I’d write something with you Cat :) it’d be a Romeo and Juliet x Haikyuu crossover

30. Most inspirational quote I’ve ever read / heard that is still important to me

From R. F. Kuang’s Babel: “That’s just what translation is, I think. That’s all speaking is. Listening to the other and trying to see past your own biases to glimpse what they’re trying to say. Showing yourself to the world, and hoping someone else understands.” It’s just. Yummy.

As a teenager, this one meant a lot to me, and it still comes to mind for each time someone asks me for a quote: “Broken is not the same as unfixable.” From Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles.

66. When I have felt the most confident in my writing

I think that is each time my friends read something I write and then they tell me their honest opinion, which is usually positive. And like, I trust my friends to be completely honest with me and tell me if something is garbage. So that is always a big confidence boost. Also, a long, long time ago when I was 10 years old, we had creative writing workshops in school, and my teacher complimented my writing and told me that I was good at it. Getting approval from him and a couple of other teachers as well as encouragement really meant a lot, and I don’t think I would have continued writing as much if I didn’t have this memory to fall back on :)

Oo! This one took me a minute. He works up quite an appetite with all the training he does, so I’m sure he appreciates a nice home cooked meal at the end of the day. Like a thick stew with meat, veggies, potatoes, and biscuits on the side.

3. Favorite plant or herb?

The golden flowers that grew in Bethmora, which he greatly misses when his kingdom is overtaken by men.

4. Favorite person/being?

His troll companion Mr. Wink of course! Though he has a soft spot for all magical beings.

Haha! I was talking about this with a fellow fan a while ago, and we both agreed he’s a dog person.

You and Kuanjui have always been a matched set. Coming to Korea to join the company at the same time, scores always one after the other at trainee evaluations, confessing to each other, sneaking kisses and sharing beds at the dorm, even leaving Yuehua together.

Both of you auditioned for Boys Planet and it was about the same. Getting all-stars at the level test and then dropping to three-stars at the signal song. Keita calling his name for Kill this Love team and yours following soon after. As soon as he sees that you’ve picked the song, Kuanjui chooses “Butterfly” without a second thought.

“It’s like you’re one person.” Zhang Hao jokes whenever he sees the two of you mirroring each other’s stretches.

“We basically have an extra bed.” Min tells Keita after he flees his own room to escape Matthew and Zhang Hao’s symphony of snores. You’re fast asleep, snuggled up to Kuanjui on the top bunk.

“It’s for your own good.” Cong and Brian tell Junseo after he asks why you and Kuanjui get the room with the extra bed when it’s become obvious enough to the whole camp that you and Kuanjui always sleep in one bed.

Most of the G-group trainees have already walked in on both of you twisted into some position that: 1. They didn’t know the human body was capable of bending into and 2. Made them want to go pour bleach into their eyes.

Even during eliminations, your ranks are called one after the other. Not even minutes after letting go of each other’s hand do you stand side by side on the stage to give your thank you speeches and then walk up the stairs to take your seats, hand in hand once again. It’s almost like it’s been rigged, you joke sometimes when you’re away from the camera.

Kuanjui just sighs, holds you closer and drops a kiss on your forehead.

“Maybe the Star Creators just like us too much together to keep us apart.”

And maybe Kuanjui is right, when you both, once again, end up in Over Me together. The Star Creators have decided once again to keep you together. But there’s a sense of dread growing in the pit of your stomach. The eliminations come again, your rank follows Kuanjui, one after the other. You’re both safe but you know you aren’t safe enough for when the next round rolls in, beds emptying, the camp getting quieter. Only the Top 18 goes to the finale and your ranks are still languishing in the 20s.

“We’ll make it,” Kuanjui whispers to you as you curl up in the sheets that night. “We’ll go to the finale together and we’ll debut together.”

It’s a nice dream, you think as his arms wrap around you, burying his face into your neck. Eyes growing heavy, you can only hold him as you drift off. Two bodies tangled together. Maybe in your sleep, there’s a future where that does happen, where you both get to live out your dreams for the next 2 and a half years together.

Still, sooner or later, you’ll have to wake up.

There’s a tension in the air, the morning after eliminations.

Along with the 8 other surviving members of Over Me, you’re seated in a semicircle, Kuanjui holding your hand and Keita on the other side. 

“In the previous season,” Jongwoo, your leader, starts. “They made the decision by voting.”

All of you were well aware. Kuanjui squeezes your hand and you squeeze back. From the other end of the semicircle, you catch Zhang Hao’s eyes. He stares at your intertwined hands and then at you. You nod slightly when you’re sure Kuanjui isn’t watching.

Both of you knew what you were going to do and it wasn’t going to go down nicely.

A little later, the trainees from Switch and Supercharger walk in. 

“If we pick someone, they have to join us without resisting.”

All of you react, Kuanjui pulling you to hide behind your fellow members. There’s a little back and forth banter before they tell you that they’re not actually there to choose and your group does need to vote people out. After they leave the room, you all sit back down, the tension returning with a vengeance. Everyone begins to appeal to themselves.

“The song really suits me. I want to do it.” Ricky states.

“I created the rap part at the beginning of the second verse,” Jeonghyeon points out.

“I really poured my everything into it; The costume, stage design, choreography and structure. We just need to keep going with them.” Jongwoo says so passionately that you’re almost swayed by it. Almost. 

But Kuanjui had told you what he, Zhang Hao and Ricky discussed last night and it wasn’t looking good for your leader.  Honestly this wasn’t going to end without someone’s feelings getting hurt. Whether they ended up staying or leaving.

It comes down to the decision not of who should be voted out but who each member thinks should stay, apart from themselves. You write your picks quickly, not even needing to stop and reconsider. 

Everyone sits back down, prepared with their list of names. The moment of truth.

“The first one I thought of was Jay. The next one is Zhang Hao”

“Ricky.”

“Jeonghyeonie.” 

“Jay.”

“Chen Kuan Jui.”

“Lee Jeonghyeon.”

Once. Your name is called once and it’s obviously when Kuanjui reads off his list, already visibly shaken by the fact that it’s only his name and not yours that he hears from everybody else. You steel your expression into placid acceptance, avoiding your boyfriend’s gaze.

“Jui. Jay. Jeonghyeonie. Ricky. Hao. It’s those five.” Jongwoo sums it up, the disappointment in his voice as clear as the look on Kuanjui’s face when you finally turn to him.

As the four of you who've been voted out make to stand up, Kuanjui does faster than all of you. Before anyone can stop him, he’s already dragging you out of the room, opening the door of the studio so swiftly that the trainees waiting outside jump and pulling you into the bathroom before they can say anything.

He snatches the mics off your sweatshirts. Now you’re just there, staring at each other. You and Kuanjui barely fight but you already know that this is going to be uglier than any of your petty quarrels.

“I’ll talk to Hao-

“Baobei, no-”

“Jongwoo-hyung can stay and-”

“No, I-”

“We can join Supercharger together-”

“Jui-” 

“Or Switch, whatever you want-”

“Kuanjui.” He finally looks at you. “I have to go.”

“We can go together…” He protests.

“No, that’s unfair to you.”

“It’s not-”

“It is, Jui, it is.” You insist. “Look, I talked with Hao, I knew only one of us would get to stay and it was going to be you. You- you need this. You fit the song so well. We know it. The whole team knows it, that’s why they voted for you. You need to do Over Me, you need the votes. Hell, if you can get the bonus, even better.”

“I voted for you.” He fires back. “I wanted them to vote for you, okay? I told Hao and Ricky that it was going to be a problem when we got the same part. I wanted them to vote for you and not me, I wanted to give you the part.”

“Don’t you dare, Kuanjui.” You hiss. “I could never live with myself if I had to take the part away from you. I-”

“And how do you think I feel? Huh?” His voice breaks and suddenly you become very aware  of how wet your own eyes are.

“We were supposed to do this together.” Kuanjui almost whispers, with a certainty that scares you. “I told you last night. We’ll win the challenge and get the bonus. We’ll make it to the finale together and maybe we’ll debut.”

“Wake up,” you choke back a sob. “We both saw our ranks yesterday. It’s going to take a miracle for both of us to make it unless some people drop. And okay, maybe one of us does. It’s going to be you, Jui. We both know it is.”

“I don’t want that.” This stubborn bastard. “I don’t want to do this without you.”

Why is he breaking your heart?

“Maybe you don’t want to,” you point out. “But that doesn’t mean you can’t, Jui. You’re so talented, you’ve worked so hard, this is your dream.”

“It’s your dream too.”

It is. You manage a shaky smile, despite the tears running down your face.

“I’ll be okay.” You say instead. Jui knows you so well. Arguably, more than you know yourself sometimes. He knows that look on your face. You’ll talk about this more later but right now, what’s done is done.

The discussion is over and the decision has been made. It’s made a long time ago, in the room he pulled you from. Now he has to go back there without you and learn to accept it. 

There’s a quiet knock on the door before it opens, Zhang Hao peeking inside. Honestly you’re surprised that none of the other trainees or staff had walked in or tried to intervene.

“Everything okay?” He asks tentatively even if he can definitely see your swollen eyes, cheeks stained with tear tracks and Jui furiously scrubbing at his face. 

“We talked,” you offer instead as he shuts the door behind him, studying both of you. 

Even if you’re all the same age, Zhang Hao’s always been the parental type from the time you trained at Yuehua together up until now. He’s the one that coaxes you to wash your face, even producing a small makeup kit to get rid of the redness on your nose and around your eyes.

“I’m sorry.” Kuanjui says belatedly, once you’re both presentable enough for the cameras.

“They’re worried about you.” Zhang Hao reassures. “Good thing, Jui moves fast and no one said anything so hopefully they just cut all of this out. Or honestly, you can pretend it’s a hidden camera, I think the editors would be likely to go with that”

You can only nod, finally facing your boyfriend again. He steps forward wrapping you into a tight hug, you can only sink into him, letting some of the tension between bleed out. Zhang Hao quietly excuses himself and walks out first, likely to tell everyone that you’re fine and make an excuse for the cameras.

Once you separate, his hands are still resting around your waist.

“I’ll see you tonight.” He says before giving you a quick kiss.

“Hmmph, we’ll see, I might have to practise all night to learn Supercharger. Oh and we might have to move rooms.”

“I’ll fight the staff if they tell us too. Literally there are so many empty rooms.”

“Jui…”

“What? Honestly even if they made us separate, everyone knows that I’m sneaking into your room. I won’t be able to sleep if the bed’s empty.”

“Aiyo, you’re impossible.”

You decide to go for the hidden camera cover up, walking out and doing a somewhat comedic skit, a heavily censored version what went down in the bathroom, overly exaggerating your reactions. Damn, maybe both of you should have taken notes from Jiwoong and gone into acting instead.

Haruto, bless his dramatic ass, gets with the program immediately.

“You’re ours now!” He hollers, clinging onto you and laughing evilly, Zihao grinning and holding onto you as well.

“Noooo, don’t leave me.” Kuanjui cries melodramatically, reaching out for you as a reluctant Zhang Hao drags him back into the practice room. The door clicks shut.

The dread settles in for one moment before Haruto hustles both you and Zihao to Say My Name’s practice room along with team Switch. 

“You okay?” Jongwoo mutters to you on the way down, still very much a concerned leader.

“Mhmm, I’ve been better.” Haruto is still clinging to you which offers some sort of slight comfort. “Are you okay?” You ask Jongwoo, knowing how hard your former leader worked for Over Me.

He laughs humorlessly. “Not the greatest day for me either.”

There’s definitely a ruckus over the new lineups as you all enter.

“Eh??” Matthew exclaims when you walk in.

“How did they get Kuanjui-ge to let you go?!” Ollie’s eyes look like they’re about to fall out of his head from how big they are.

You help Haruto pitch Supercharger as best as you can before stepping outside to wait for your new members. 

That night…

“Okay, Takuto can stay with me. Woongi-hyung and Seowon-hyung said they’ll room together. Which means Ollie can stay with Zihao, eh?”

Haruto’s handing out the room arrangement when Takuto asks where you’ll be sleeping. Immediately, Ollie snorts, Woongi and Seowon exchange glances, definitely having heard of your "special" sleeping arrangement from the other trainees, and Zihao, bless his soul, covers for you, putting an arm over your shoulder as he says to Takuto.

“Don’t worry, they’ll be sleeping with me and Ollie.”

“Ah, is that right?” Because of course your boyfriend decides that it’s the right moment to show up.

“Jui-ge’s just here to say goodnight, right?” Ollie says faux innocently as Takuto grows more confused.

“Sorry baobei, I think I’ll be sleeping with Zihao tonight.” You joke, playfully clinging onto the dancer who seems almost too happy about it.

Kuanjui, on the other, does not look happy at all.

“Zihao. If you don’t let go of them right now, I can make sure that Supercharger will wake up tomorrow with one less member.”

Haruto squawks something about not killing his husband. Seowon and Woongi decide it’s time to remove themselves, taking Takuto and a reluctant Ollie with them. Zihao stops smiling, his arm dropping from your shoulder immediately as he backs off.

Kuanjui is immediately all over you.

“I smell.” You whine to him weakly. “We’ve been practising all day and I haven’t showered.”

“I’ll shower with you.” From the back, you hear Haruto gag, footsteps speeding away from you. Zihao has disappeared from the hallway.

Kuanjui showers with you. You keep it wholesome, kinda. Except your boyfriend is incredibly flexible and can’t seem to keep his hands to himself. So maybe you get a little frisky. Not a lot. Well, at least you don’t traumatise anyone.

And just like that, you’re back in Kuanjui’s arms, lying in bed, hair still damp from the shower. You close your eyes as he litters kisses all over your face, sweet and light and everything you’ve ever wanted. 

“You know we still need to talk.” You’re drifting off, the aches of learning a completely new choreography bearing down on your body.

“I know.” He whispers back. “But let me kiss you first?”

You fall asleep with the feeling of his lips against your skin. The feeling of him holding you. You’ll talk tomorrow, work things out, address issues that the stress of today brought up. But for now, you sleep. And together, you dream.

adsfdfgjk spuffy are kinda my eventual post s7 endgame and I mostly ship just them, even tho as a lesbian I obviously see the vision w faith/buffy. but I also don’t really read any spuffy fic at all bc I am mostly satisfied with what we got on the show and how it all concluded - clasped hands ingulfed in flames?? the “I love you” “no you don’t” WHO DID IT LIKE THEM. but many fics just want to flat out ignore s5-7, and specifically s6, and there are lots of like time travel aus or spuffy getting together earlier etc. and obviously I am not judging anyone you do you and have fun but that’s not my jam at all. like if there is a spuffy fanfic that mets my super specific expectations I would love to read it but overall I’m fine as is!

and in general this seems to be happening quite a lot when it comes to het pairings for me? like no matter how frustrating/painful some parts of it are, as a whole it makes sense that x and z can’t be together at this point in canon (but maybe they could in the future). maybe it’s bc i gravitate towards more unconventional het pairings and quite a few ppl’s ideas of a happy ending/happy relationship are too white picket fenc-y? perhaps but🤐

right righttttt yeahhhhhh I think a lot of fans like an idea of the relationship that didn't actually happen? to be clear I'm ON BOARD with the spuffy post s7 vision, I don't need to choose between that and buffy/faith in my mind, I'm just... hm, even as someone very anti the idea of redemption equals death, I'm also kinda okay with the idea they can't really find a happy ending with each other? like it's kinda the brevity of that relationship also provided it with meaning in canon, it's two people who did love each other in a weird way and found comfort in each other in a weird way and gravitated around each other and... can that work, can it not, could they ever have made it 'work' in a long-term sense, who knows!! but it's the canon specifically that I'm into rather than kinda... the hypothetical version of the relationship spike and buffy could have had. I wouldn't want any changes to canon!! I couldn't see them get together earlier with each other!! it's very. all power to you lot. do whatever. but to me there's one version of that relationship that works - and it's the one that's the mess it is in canon. spike is a vampire without a soul who falls in love! he has a chip that makes him impotent! he ends up getting a soul and a trigger! he's basically just one big experimental test tube used to explore what identity even means, what behaviour tells you about identity, what the conditions of morality are and so on... buffy dismissed him, then finds herself leaning on him, then eventually finds herself needing to confide in him as she is alienated from her own humanity... I don't know, one thing I've always really loved about buffy as a show is its flexibility, how playful it is with genre and what roles the characters fulfil in a way that still provides consistency in characterisation. I really like how that relationship has a completely different vibe in every single season!! I think spike is kinda uniquely well suited to that flexibility, that malleability of identity, and it's cool! I don't really want something that messes with that!

and yeah big agree on enjoying unconventional het lol. the thing is, right, I consume a fair bit of het (something that sounds a bit weird now I've typed it out but I'm keeping it). part of that is just how I, y'know, like women, which definitely doesn't mean I DON'T engage with plenty of m/m slash but I would quite like stuff to occasionally have women in it? and whichever you slice and dice it, the femslash pickings are just slimmer and often doesn't get produced about characters I'm particularly interested in... or just ends up falling into. weird. boring tropes when people are writing for it. but also het is fun!! I like playing with my het couples, I love doing a gender on them. I like spike and buffy doing a gender!! one of the big things with spike is constantly being emasculated, he's doing weird genders, I'm not saying the het relationship is Actually Not Het but idk I like the gender stuff!! like yes threaten him with those stakes!! straddle that evil vampire!! I'm enough of a romantic to occasionally want my doomed hets to have a happy ending, but like, yeah! don't white picket it!!

About Me:

When did you first start writing? I think I was about 9 when I first started writing stories, most starred whatever cartoon characters I was into at the time, I had a bit of a hiatus from like 13-18, but when I got back into it I mostly wrote poetry

Are the genres/themes you enjoy reading different from the ones you write? I try not to focus on genres in general so I can't really tell if there's one I tend to lean toward, and as far as themes go I don't really know lol I do love a good tragedy though

Is there an author (or just a fellow writer!) you want to emulate, or one to whom you're often compared? Nah not really, but there are some writers I'm mutuals with who are excellent and I'm always looking forward to the next thing they make

Can you tell me a little about your writing space(s)? (Room, coffee shop, desk, etc.) I've been trying to write more at my desk so that I'm not spending all my time on my bed, so it's usually there, also helps that I have most my writing implements plus my computer there so it's far more convenient to be at my desk than my bed

What's your most effective way to muster up some muse? I kinda just go about my day, I roll around a few ideas here and there, keep some lines either in my head or write them down if I like them enough, but I don't have a specific process or anything

Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and places you write about? I think its impossible to not be influenced by the life you've lived, so yeah I would say so

Are there any recurring themes in your writing, and if so, do they surprise you at all? If I had to pinpoint one reoccurring theme in my poetry it would have to be identity, which given that I grew up feeling like I lacked one just kinda makes sense to me

My Characters

Would you please tell me about your current favourite character? (Current WIP, Past WIP, Never Used, etc) I don't think any of the stories I've been mulling over have any characters fleshed out enough for me to choose one as a favorite, so I'll pick an old d&d character lol, her name was Pae'ces who was an angsty little wood elf with anger issues, she was my first d&d character and I definitely didn't play her well but it was my first time playing so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (she also died so rip ;_;)

Which of your characters do you think you'd be friends with in real life? at the moment, none of them lol

Which of your characters would you dislike the most if you met them? i don't really know, none of my characters are fleshed out enough so I can't make a decision on stuff like that

Tell me about the process of coming up with one, all, or any of your characters, idea + issues = character

Do you notice any recurring themes/traits among your characters? uhhh, I think they could all use a friend, I would say that's one trait a lot of them share lol

How do you picture them? (As real people you imagined, as models/actors who exist in real life, as imaginary artwork, as artwork you made or commissioned, anime style, etc) I'm always picturing some kind of animated show with them even if that's not like the chosen medium for the story

My Writing

What's your reason for writing? All my life all I've wanted to be is an artist, the written word is the medium I have the most experience with

Is there a specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating coming from your readers? uhh, this is gonna sound like a flippant answer, but not really, I do like hearing what people think, good or bad, though neither one really affects my motivation otherwise

How do you want to be thought of by those who read your work? (For example: as a literary genius, or as a writer who "gets" the human condition; as a talented world builder, as a role model, etc) I don't want to be thought about, the work is mine sure, like I'm whose credited, but outside of that I want people to not be concerned with my perspective, the art is meant for you, what it means to you if anything at all

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer? I truly have no clue, feels like maybe that's something I'm not meant to determine for myself

What have you been frequently told your greatest writing strength is by others? I have not been told much about my writing, so another non-answer, sorry

How do you feel about your own writing? (Answer in whatever way you interpret this question) Its fine, its something I made and that's enough for me

If you were the last person on earth and knew your writing would never be read by another human, would you still write? i would yeah, writing is a part of my emotional process so I would do it for that alone

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely what you enjoy? if it's a mix of the two, which holds most influence? I don't know if this necessarily comes from a place of enjoyment, but I write what I feel like writing, whatever idea pops into my head or a particular story I feel like exploring tends to be my influence behind everything I make
