i know this show isn’t totally perfect in how it handles things but man . . .

#caroline watches kdrama #fly high butterfly #salon de nabi #also like i think the writer of this kdrama. does have genuine care about queerness in korea #becuase in hello my twenties season 2 there was a queer story going on in the background i think #and like not to be like 'season 1 def had something queer going on between two of the characters but'#that said the person sending this text is i'm p sure cisgender #but there IS a trans or genderqueer character in this show too #and while i've heard mixed things about that plotline #and while i have kinda mixed feelings about the exact context of when this line is delivered #it warms my heart anyways #bc like. idk. queerness is not accepted in korea even now #so this line. still at the end of the day. still makes me go :'))#'what can i do? i already like you' is so!!

I’m always so touched at the way everyone does their best to save and protect Jonathan along the journey. They’re clearly, obviously terrified by the Count, so you’d think they’d respect his wishes and try to help him along, if only to ensure no harm comes to them; and instead they try to warn Jonathan, try to dissuade him, give him wards to protect him. The carriage driver even rides like crazy to get there one hour earlier than usual in the hopes of missing the appointment with the Count — that takes major guts!

#they really did everything they could #idk it warms my heart that one of the first things established in this novel is that people are Good.#they do whatever they can to help Jonathan at (supposedly) great personal risk #(since you know. they live there. where are they going to run if the Count comes for them?)#it didn’t work. Jonathan’s going to go through the horrors anyway. but it’s important to me that they tried #dracula daily

she is based on the story/universe that my friend @haydardotjpg's OCs indra and yuwei exist in! pls go checkout haydar's art he is amazing!! his ocs can be found more easily on his ig but if you're lazy this is his oc indra (cempaka's one-sided love interest) and yuwei (indra's fated lover)

also, cempaka means "magnolia" in malay!! (she gets a flower name bc my name is lilly which is also flower c:)

bonus first iteration under the cut!

i accidentally had "poinsettia" flower in mind when i did this iteration instead of an actual magnolia, hence the color scheme. but yeah, this is as self-insert as it gets LOL like she's literally MEEEEEE but still very different and i love her as she is <3
