Guys I’m so sorry for my inactivity, I know that I have a few requests and I’m working on those but I’ve just been super tired lately 😭
As a little apology I’d like to present you my general head cannons for the bayverse bots (AOE and TLK)
Bumblebee:
•Super sweet like I mean this mech would travel galaxies for you. He takes I love you to the moon and back to a whole other level.
•Once he accidentally saw you changing and he literally covered his eyes and ran away while making embarrassed little wiring sounds
•He LOVES taking you out on drives. It’s his favourite way to spend time with you. Drive through the countryside? YES! Drive through the mountains? ALSO YES! He just loves driving around with you.
•He seems like the kinda mech to play some corny ass love song if you’re upset. You could balling your eyes out and he’ll just start playing a song and you just look at him like “Are you actually serious right now?” But it’s okay cus he loves you so much and you love him.
•This one’s just for fun
One time Crosshairs mentioned something about having more “fleshies” around here and Bumblebee through a very large piece of scrap metal at him. Crosshairs literally tumbled down to the ground.
Crosshairs:
•He’s such an asshole like it’s really infuriating. Not asshole in like a mean way but if you do something remotely embarrassing he’s gonna remind you about for months. If you have allergies (like me😕) he’s probably gonna laugh his ass off as you repeatedly sneeze and say something along the lines of “this isn’t funny…” and the fact that your voice is all is all messed up just makes him laugh harder.
•He can actually be really romantic. I know he can’t take you out for a candle lit dinner but he’ll take you to beautiful places in nature and you two will just sit there and talk. He loves to take you stargazing, it’s just so peaceful. Half the time he isn’t even looking at the stars though, he’s just looking down at you with a smile.
•He’ll pick a fight with anyone, like I mean anyone. He even gets into fights with Drift (and normally looses). His favourite person to pick a fight with is Bumblebee though, he just loves to terrorize that poor yellow mech. You have apologized to Bumblebee on multiple occasions for Crosshairs actions.
•He’s actually super lovey dovey but won’t admit it. He’s constantly complimenting you and asking if you wanna spend time with him, he’s always carrying you around and holding you as if your going to disappear if he doesn’t cling to you for dear life
•This one’s just for fun
He stole one of Hounds grenades once and was like “Hey watch this!” and when you told him that it wouldn’t be a good idea to throw a literal explosive at a bunch of old cars he was just like “Nah I got this.” Well he blew up a large quarter of the junkyard that day and Cade was very pissed.
Drift (MY MAN😘😻):
•Drift is everything you could possibly want in a man. He’s so nice, caring, charming, nonjudgmental, handsome, intelligent, considerate, loyal and excellent at listening. However he does have a bit of a temper problem and can be quite stubborn.
•Drift hates seeing you upset, he will never forgive himself if he makes you cry. He’d do anything to make you feel better. If you’re upset he’s there to listen and give you advice.
•He loves taking walks with you, it’s his favourite thing to do and if you don’t wanna walk he’ll gladly carry you on his shoulder. If you wanna meditate or be with him while he’s meditating you better get ready for your wedding day because you basically just asked him to marry you.
•He adores you with all his spark, he thinks that he doesn’t deserve such a beautiful being like you. Get ready to constantly get showered by compliments and poems about how much he loves you. If you ever for once say something about how your insecure Drift will fix that in seconds! He’ll kiss you softly while murmuring praises to you until you have to say that you’re 100 percent fine now.
•For fun:
The mini dino bots were annoying him once and he tried to slice them in half. He almost succeeded until you walked by and all 3 of the little creatures hid behind you. Drift just kinda stared at you with a guilty expression, his sword still high in the air ready to strike. He sighed put his sword back as you scolded him for trying to kill the poor things.
Hound:
He’s not very romantic sorry guys😭
But he tries…sort of. He just doesn’t see the need in taking you out somewhere for a date night. If it bothered you and you told him about then he would actually put in some effort. He wants you to be happy so he’ll put aside his feelings on sappy romance and start taking you out on long drives through the countryside.
He’s really funny so if you ever feel sad just talk to him. He’s also good at giving advice, like surprisingly good at it. He’ll just give you a really good piece of advice and then act like he didn’t even say anything at all.
Sometimes he just drops random lore whenever you tell him story. Once you’re done talking he’ll just say something like “oh yeah that reminds me of the time I once killed 3 decepticons with my bare hands.” And you’ll just stare at him dumbfounded.
For fun:
One time Drift was pissing him off with his haikus and stuff so Hound grabbed his sword and just chucked it as far as he could. Drift just stood there, watching as his sword flew to the other side of the junkyard.
Once they heard the sword crash down into a pile of scrap metal Drift just gave him a nasty look and sighed before walking away to go get it back.
Bonus points because the sword almost Crosshairs.
Optimus:
He’s romantic but not in a cheesy way, more of in a “Let me buy you a very expensive bottle of wine so that we can take it back to your place and drink it over a candle lit dinner.” kinda way. Definitely a gentleman through and through.
He cares about you so much that it’s almost a little too much. He wants to know that you’re safe and sound, that you can sleep peacefully every night without a worry in the world.
He loves listening to you. He loves your voice so much. He’ll put you on his shoulder and let you ramble for hours. No matter what you wanna talk about he just wants to listen and be there for you.
For fun:
One time Bumblebee convinced you to go on a drive with him but he ended up speeding and running away from the cops. You called Cade and told me what happened and of course he snitched to Optimus. When the two of you got back Optimus was not very happy with you guys. Bumblebee got scolded for a good 20 minutes and you just ran away before Optimus could even bring up the situation.
Hot Rod:
Hot Rod is such a cutie, he’s so kind, loving, caring and romantic! He’s the definition of a true gentleman. “Hey Hot Rod can we go on a dri-“ you don’t even have to finish your sentence because he’s already in his alt mode.
He always talks about how much he hates his French accent but you love it. It’s charming, cute and it just sounds so good to you. He knows you love it and he uses that to his advantage. Whenever he wants something he’ll start calling you by amour and chérie.
He’s SO romantic, he could possibly be even more lovey and sappy than Bumblebee. Since he lives in a big ass castle where he can roam freely it gives him a larger variety of things you guys can do.
For fun:
You were in your room once and he came to see you, he tapped on the window and it just completely shattered. You jumped up from your bed and looked over at him and he stared at you awkwardly. For a while you just gave him a disapproving stare until he apologized and said he’ll find a way to fix it.
By the way guys I’m so sorry for not being active for a few weeks, but I promise I’ll get back to writing very soon!

— JAY AS YOUR BOYFRIEND ! 💭
➙ boyfriend jay thoughts
pairing: park jongseong x gn!reader
genre: fluff
request: " Hii <3 Can I request Jay as your boyfriend? "
warnings: lowercase intended, not proofread, mentions of food, this was kinda long, I'm sorry I just kept going
a/n: even if he isn't your bias, I'm sure we can all agree we want jay as our boyfriend. hope you liked your request anon ^_^
everyone's dream man
the boyfriend you introduce to your parents and they would love him too
jay is THE most husband material man to ever husband material
and seriously he would be the perfect boyfriend in every sense
I see jay as the sort of boyfriend to take care of his s/o with their day to day life stuff such as cooking or helping them clean (very domestic) but also financially
he would love spoiling his partner (and as he should)
be it with small things to things you couldn't even dream of seeing or getting
to jay, you deserve it all, he would even buy you the moon and stars (his words, not mine)
flowers, flowers and oh wait, more flowers
seriously, he always gets you flowers (unless you're either allergic or just don't like the smell of them like me)
very romantic, probably one of the most romantic in enha
very class and sophisticated sort of romantic
giving very much fancy candlelit dinner with the view of the Eiffel tower in Paris
but sometimes instead of splurging to take you out, he prefers a home cooked meal that you could either make together or he makes for you
just like the rest of the group, jay has a way of making you laugh even without trying
your laughter is his favourite sound (no I'm not crying, you are)
shopping together is a big yes!
I imagine as his s/o you would both have similar tastes in style consisting of things that are classy but can also be chic and cute
sometimes he even shops for you if he knows what you like or what you've been wanting
"Remember that blazer you really liked from the last fashion week from Prada, I got it for you so I hope you like it."
doesn't take no for an answer and even if you do try refusing a gift he gives you, he gives you this certain look and then you end up accepting the gift
also carries your shopping bags after shopping so all you have to do is walk beside him looking as beautiful as ever
nap dates are a thing with you and jay
you would both simply cuddle in bed and just sleep together for hours like that and it is definitely his second favourite thing after kissing you
and when he does go on tour and can't cuddle with you, he makes sure to call you every night no matter how exhausted he is because it helps him sleep better after hearing your voice
I'm talking private guitar shows
be it he's just playing random acoustics on his guitar or he's actually working on something new, he will have you listen to it
"Jay you know I'm not good at this stuff, you always sound amazing anyway." you tell him feeling embarrassed at your lack of musical inclination
"Even so, you know you're someone who's opinion matters the most to me angel." he would tell you before kissing your forehead reassuringly
has an incredible memory so he remembers so many small details about you and you find it so heartwarming
you will be clinging to jay because we all know how good he smells and he doesn't mind either
usually isn't the physical affection sort of guy but he secretly loves it whenever you hug or cuddle
the healing era boyfriend for all my heartbroken readers
jay is the perfect boyfriend to help you get back into the dating game as you heal and learn to love and trust yourself and others
oh I cannot forget about the singing
he is definitely going to be singing to you
ask him and he will be your human aux, sings whatever songs you would like
he all in all just loves feeling needed by and taking care of you
your happiness is his happiness in the end

_________________________________________
Tonight was the last stop of tour, and Bucky was feeling all kinds of things. Nervous, sad that the tour was done, but also incredibly happy to finally get home to his pregnant wife and two boys.
"Good evening everybody!" Bucky yells into the mic and does a riff on his guitar.
"Tonight is the last show-" before he finishes he's cut off by screams of "noo" of their fans.
"I know, I know. This tour has been a real dream come true. I wanna thank everyone who's here tonight and everyone who saw our show in the last six months. And of course, to those who support us from afar."
Bucky stops talking and looks at the huge stadium screaming his name and almost tears up.
"Let's have fun tonight!"
Bucky starts singing the first song, and the crowd goes wild. He loves this so much the adrenaline the energy it makes him feel high.
It's getting close to the end of the show. Only the last song is left, and it's a surprise song for the last show. This song Bucky wrote for you when he was leaving for tour the first time after having a kid. Its not a song they usually play as it is a slow farewell song, but why not.
"Thank you for such an amazing show. You are such an incredible crowd. But can I ask for a little more of your time and energy?!"
The crowd yells out a yes. Bucky and other members of his band smile, him and Steve share a look that says "we made it".
They start singing, and the crowd starts singing the lyrics with them, some people start crying and the stadium is lit up with phone flashlights
When they finish the last song the crowd chants their name.
"Thank you!" Bucky bows lowly.
and then the crowd screams louder and Bucky turns around.
"I know the show is over. But I thought I could ask for one last song?"
Bucky is speechless when he hears your voice, and when he sees his 7 month pregnant wife on stage, he almost collapses. The crowds screaming dies out, and the only thing Bucky sees is you in a pretty purple dress standing a few feet away microphone in your hands.
"So? Just my favourite I'm sure no one would mind? Right Steve?"
Steve smiles at you softly, he knew you were coming and helped you pull this thing off without Bucky knowing.
"What's one more song?" Steve says and starts singing.
Bucky takes the microphone and starts singing to you. He slowly walks over, scared that you'll disappear any second. You wouldn't call this song particularly sweet and romantic since Bucky wrote it about your wild hookups in unconventional places when you were like 18. But still, it remains your favourite song.
By the end of the song, Bucky is close to sobbing he started crying at some point.
"My beautiful wife, everybody!" He says through tears. The crowd has been screaming since you came out on stage.
"Thank you! Sorry to keep you a bit longer I'm sure everybody is very tired. Get home safe." you say and leave the stage waving, but not before kissing Bucky softly and telling him you'll see him in a bit.
While you wait for the show to finish, you log into Buckys Instagram since you don't have your own. Already, there are thousands and thousands of posts about you coming on stage.
Bucky didn't publicly announce the pregnancy, and neither have you. This time, you somehow managed to hide it for so long since the attention was mostly pointed at the tour.
You're sure that by tomorrow, every tabloid will have your picture splattered everywhere but you couldn't care less. What Bucky doesn't know yet is that the boys are here with you and you can't wait to see his face.
"DADDY!" Theo screams and jumps into his fathers arms, and Bucky catches him.
Bucky holds onto his son like he's going to disappear any second.
"What are you doing here? How? When?" Bucky asks in between kisses that he's giving your son.
Leo crawls and hugs Bucky's legs, with Theo still in his arms, Bucky picks up his other son and starts kissing each of their cheeks in turns.
"We wanted to surprise you. I guess it worked, no?" you tease him a little and snap a picture of the sweet scene in front of you.
Somehow, Theo ends up clinging onto his dad's back, which gives Bucky enough space to pull you into a group hug.
"Ew you're sweaty and smell. Theo get down you'll get stinky too."
Bucky doesn't let either of you leave his embrace, and the menace he is, he snuggles Leo even closer to him. You smile into his neck, you missed him so much.
"Alright, I'll go shower, then we can go. Don't go anywhere."
"Daddy wait I'm still here!" Theo screams into Buckys ear trying to get down but Bucky is still holding him.
"Oh right, I guess you're not showering with me." Theo giggles happily and walks over to you.
"The other one too Buck." He rolls his eyes and let's his 3 year old down from his arms.
He doesn't take long, and the four of you are on your way to the hotel.
In the car, boys talk to their father, and Bucky listens very carefully, not to miss a single word.
When you get to the hotel suite, Bucky gets the boys ready for bed and reads them a bedtime story. They fall sleep almost instantly, Theo on his right shoulder and Leo on his left.
Bucky manages to wiggle out without waking them up and makes his way over to you.
"God I love you. You're incredible. How did you even do this we talked this morning and I-" you cut him off with a kiss.
"I love you too. And I can't belive that we've been married for so long and I still get to surprise you." Bucky smiles and put his hand on you belly, feeling the little movement.
"My pretty baby, I'm sorry daddy hasn't talked you I promise I'll make it up to you, I'm gonna be the only thing you hear for forever!" Bucky talks to the baby in your belly.
"I love you more than anything, Bucky I love our family and I missed you so fucking much." you start to tear up, holding onto Buckys hands. It hit you all at once that you're having another baby and that he wasn't there and that you can't believe you found a soulmate.
"Doll, you're my forever. I love you more than there are stars in the universe. I can not thank you enough for being there and supporting me and being the mother of my children. The last 6 months have both been the best and worst of my life. I want you to know that you and the boys were all I could think about. I can not wait to get home, our messy, lively home. Soon, I know we'll be getting zero sleep, and we'll be exhausted, but I will be doing it with you. That makes me extremely happy. You were my dream then, my dream now and my dream forever."
You sob into his chest, holding him tightly, as if he's going to disappear into thin air. The hug is a bit weird as your bump is in the way but it's the thing that you needed the most right now.
"If I could I would fuck you right now you look incredibly sexy." you say through tears and Buckys chest vibrate from the laugh.
"I'll make it up to you my love. I will have you in bed for a week straight, you'll be all mine. My pretty doll." He plants a sweet kiss on top of your head.
"Let's get you in bed. I'm sure you're tired." you only nod and let Bucky take care of you.
When you fall asleep, Bucky is wide awake looking at his beautiful family. He can't wait to get home and take care of you.
[THE END]

Cello time
Pairing: Wednesday X Reader
Warnings(?): Soppy, I think it is a universal experience to almost cry at this song (linked at the end), I still haven't finished any of my wips so I wrote this instead
I actually love this sm lmao
It was no secret that the Hyde was playing on everyone's minds. The creature rampaged through the dreams of all Nevermore students; for no-one knew exactly when it would next strike. Living in pure fear was exhausting, and you didn't know how much longer you could go on.
Though it wasn't all terror, distress and sleepless nights. Life may have been a chore, but you did have one solace.
And her name was Wednesday Addams.
The raven-haired girl who swore she felt nothing had found her reason to live. She may have sworn to never end up like her parents, yet she was purely delaying the inevitable. The Addams curse was inescapable, no matter how stone-hearted she pretended to be. One smile from you and the walls Wednesday had solidified with layer upon layer of cement and mortar came crashing down, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
And she would protect you with every fibre of her being; to the death and beyond the grave. So truly, she did not know why you bothered to fear.
You would never tell her what really scared you. What made your blood run cold, lingering in the deepest, darkest corner of your mind. It wasn't the disturbing appearance of the evil beast, nor the paranoia that the creature was a student like yourself, wandering through the very halls you did. Hell, it wasn't even the thought of the Hyde taking you as it's next victim.
No, it was the thought of losing her.
Exactly one week before the Rave'n, you sat on Wednesday's monochrome bed, engraving the features if her side profile into your mind. She was the picture of elegance, a true gothic beauty. Her slender fingers glided over the keys of her type writer, as she began to round off her daily writing time.
You couldn't help a giddy smile pulling at your lips, for this meant only one thing.
Cello time.
This was your favourite pass time; feeling the cool evening breeze caress your cheeks as you tilted your head to the twinkling stars, serenaded by the passionate music radiating from Wednesday's instrument.
With a final click, the Addams girl turned to face you, flashing a small smile. A smile that made you feel as though you had swallowed an entire bowl of crawling spiders. You replicated it, albeit more emotionally, before rushing to open the window.
Your adoration for as you dubbed it, "cello time", made Wednesday's previously dead heart restart with an electric jolt. The fiery sensation was unbearable.
How she loved it.
Bringing her source of music, she joined you on the balcony, indulging in a long, romantic kiss before gliding to her music stand. She flicked through the sheet music, you peering over her shoulder intently.
"Which one would you prefer, Cara Mia?" She questioned, and you couldn't deny the addicting feeling of your heart bursting at the nickname.
You grinned, knowing she would have already presumed which one you would choose; hence why she paused on that sheet.
"This one." You clasped your hands together excitedly, hoisting yourself up and sitting on the wall of the balcony. Wednesday grinned back, extending her bow.
An overpowering feeling of pure, blissful love washed over you as the first few notes of 'Can't help falling in love' rang out into the silent darkness.
The love you felt for Wednesday was unrivalled, and as the song continued, your eyes became glassy, overcome with powerful emotion.
As the final notes rang out, you leapt from your seat on the wall, racing into the arms of your girlfriend.
"I love you. More than words can say, more than I can even comprehend. I don't know what I would do without you."

My Top 10 Sulemio moments
It's been a whole week now since our girls' story ended but the brain rot remains, so I'm listing out my favourite Sulemio moments from the show.
List is going under the read more because it is long and has many images.
Number 10 is this small conversation from Episode 9 between Suletta and Shaddiq. The reason I love this so much is that it’s the first time that Suletta really takes pride in the fact that she’s Miorine’s groom. A lot of people are of the belief that Suletta first starts really developing romantic feelings for Miorine after Episode 7, and I think this scene really highlights that change in Suletta’s feelings.
The other noteworthy thing here is that it really illustrates the difference between Suletta and most of the other people in Miorine’s life which is that she actually trusts Miorine to make her own decisions.
Number 9 is the late-night conversation between Suletta and Miorine in Episode 4. I love this scene not just because it’s the first time where they really start to learn more about each other, but also because it does set up the parts of their character that would cause problems for them later. Suletta is proud to carry the expectations of Mercury because she loves the idea that she can be useful to them, whereas Miorine thinks it’s an unfair burden to carry. It’s a nice set-up for the later drama to come when these two aspects of their personalities clash.
And this is something that I really love about Suletta and Miorine’s relationship. When there is friction between them, it always comes from a place that is true to the characters rather than the drama coming from forced “misunderstandings.”
Also, there’s only one bed in Miorine’s living area and Suletta certainly wasn’t leaving to go back to whether she slept before she joined up with Earth House that late at night. They 100% shared that bed.
Speaking of friction between the two characters, here’s Number 8 on the list, the Greenhouse conversation from Episode 16.
I find Miorine’s desperation in this scene to be really heartbreaking, she’s looking for any sign, no matter how small, that Suletta might go against Prospera’s wishes if the circumstances were right, but Suletta’s still in too deep at this point. The fact that Miorine is visibly hurt by the conversation here says so much, considering how far she’s previously gone to maintain her composure. Even during the big emotional moment in Episode 11, she doesn’t want Suletta to see her cry, but here she genuinely breaks emotionally and can’t hold it in at all when Suletta admits that she would kill for her mother.
Number 7 is Suletta reaching Permet Score 5 and it’s a moment I love for more or less the same reason I love the previous scene, any scene where a normally stoic character really shows how much they care is an incredible scene in my opinion.
And of course, everything leading up that is excellent too. Miorine choosing to trust Suletta’s decision to pilot the Calibarn despite the very real dangers, even pushing to activate higher levels of Permet when the others were hesitating is a perfect display of Miorine’s faith in Suletta, and a perfect turnaround from her earlier, misguided attempt to protect Suletta from the Gundam’s Curse.
At Number 6 we have the moment that this show left me with permanent emotional scars.
Miorine forcing herself to abandon Suletta for “her own good” was always going to be heartbreaking, but they really twisted the knife by having Suletta fantasize about their perfect wedding while Miorine’s fingers hovered over the trigger. And then on top of all that, they just had to go and play the damn Happy Birthday song AND have Miorine tossing back cool-san! Like, they really stuck the boot in there.
Like, when I was re-watching the show, I have to admit I found it genuinely difficult to re-watch this scene again and that’s how you know it was really well done. Suletta begging for another chance while her entire life crumbles around her haunts me.
Show of hands, how many people started watching the show because of this exact scene? Cause seeing people talk about this moment was definitely what got me to watch the first episode.
Don’t think I have to elaborate too much on how good this scene is or what it means for their relationship, but I will say that Suletta’s reaction when she finds out she’s engaged is probably still my favourite Suletta face.
Also, Miorine completely sidestepping the potential “but we’re both girls tho?” drama by talking about how common gay marriage is was perfection.
More shows should have that amount of courage.
Number 4 is the happy ending. After everything these two went through over the course of the show and also some of the dumb stuff that was said about their relationship by real people, seeing them end the show married, in love and living their best lives was unbelievably cathartic.
Also, extra bonus points for having Suletta end the show disabled and not having it treated as an awful tragedy that mars the happy ending or having it be something that she can just overcome with sufficient willpower.
While I would have loved to have seen the wedding on-screen, the fact that we ended the show with married sapphic women in as big a franchise as Gundam is already pretty incredible.
Wedding OVA when tho?
At Number 3 we have Suletta and Miorine using healthy communication for the first time!
As I said earlier, one of the things I love about the relationship between Suletta and Miorine is that any drama between them is true to their characters, Suletta is insecure in her relationships and needs to feel “needed to feel safety in those relationships and Miorine is cold and closed off emotionally since her upbringing makes it hard for her to trust. As such both of them have trouble communicating exactly how they feel.
That being said, in order to be truly great, conflict and drama needs to be followed up with by a satisfying resolution. And in terms of providing a satisfying resolution to all that drama, they absolutely knocked it out of the park in this scene. Miorine explaining to Suletta how much her life has been changed for the better since they met, actively working to accommodate Suletta’s desire to feel useful and asking to be together forever. Like everything here was exactly what it needed to be.
Also, as well-done as the emotions were here, it would be remiss of me not to mention the goofy looney tunes style chase scene that proceeded it was also brilliant.
The number 2 spot on the list goes to the formation of Gund-Arm inc.
When we meet Miorine she is very upfront that her one and only goal is to escape the Benerit Group and go to Earth. Although she passes up on the chance to escape from Earth to save Suletta in Episode 2, she’s still pretty clear about what her ultimate goal is. Although it goes unsaid for several episodes after this, this is the moment that Miorine decides that keeping Suletta safe is more important than making it to Earth by willingly tying herself to a Benerit Group company just to keep Suletta and Aerial safe. Even bowing before her father and begging for his help, probably the last thing that Miorine ever wanted to do, in order to make sure her plan worked. If this scene doesn’t illustrate just how much Miorine was in love with Suletta even at this early stage of the story, I don’t know what will.
In addition to the scene just being completely incredible in every way, the other reason it ends up so high on this list is because this scene marks a pretty clear turning point in Suletta’s feelings for Miorine. I think most people now, generally agree that this scene is probably where Suletta starts falling for Miorine for real, and after rewatching the show I think that idea comes across very clearly. From this point onward, Suletta clearly takes a lot more pride in her title of Groom, she’s a lot more openly affectionate towards Miorine, and also a lot more concerned about how Miorine perceives their relationship.
So yeah, awesome scene, huge turning point in their relationship, Number 2 spot.
And finally, we reach my number one favourite Sulemio scene, their reunion in Episode 22.
Just take everything that I said about the scene from Episode 11 and multiply it by 10. Suletta reappearing in Miorine’s darkest hour to remind her to keep moving forward was everything I needed after a rough couple of episodes for Miorine.
Also, the whole scene is just a perfect show of how Suletta developed over the course of the show. Suletta starts the show shy, insecure in her relationships, not particularly confident in her words, and following orders rather than working toward her own goals.
Here, Suletta is able to speak with complete confidence about how Miorine changed her life, about the things that she’s done wrong and the things she wants do better, and about her desires for the future.
Of all the scenes in this show, this is the one that had me tearing up the most, and for that, it absolutely deserves the number 1 spot on my list.
Also, that handholding. Hoo boy, that is the most emotionally intimate handholding I’ve seen in my life.
So yeah, that's my list of my favourite Sulemio moments. If your favourite scene wasn't one of the ones that made my list, then tell me about what made you love that scene so much because I love this show, and I love these characters and I will read anything about them.

Because the song was released today, I need to talk about one of my favourite Vocaloid duet ever. If my friends don't associate me with this song, then I'm clearly doing something wrong. /hj
The song? 'Ice breaker' by NejishikiP featuring Yuzuki Yukari & IA, which is now 5 years old!!
youtube
Gonna be rambling a lot, so more under the cut! It's going to mostly be about my feelings towards the song itself and my personal interpretation of its meaning! It's stupidly long because there's just so many things I love about this song so sorry in advance dfgfnhfg
Firstly, my feelings towards 'Ice breaker' overall!
While this wasn't my first Nejishiki song I listened to, after finding his channel, I quickly became invested in Nejishiki's music for a number of 5 things:
Nejishiki mainly uses Yuzuki Yukari, one of my favourite Vocal Synths of all time.
He also uses IA, another Vocal Synth I love.
His songs are mainly composed on the jazzier side, specifically jazz fusion and electro swing. I heavily lean towards jazz music, which, combined with Yukari, is meant for jazz music, this means automatic interest for me.
When it comes to duets, he often uses YukaIA. I am a huge YukaIA shipper.
One of his main themes in his music is yuri. And I fucking love yuri.
And before anyone tries to prove me wrong about Nejishiki shipping YukaIA, I need you all to know that this is in the description in English.
I'm not musically talented to really talk about the musical aspects of the song. But just listening to it, there's something that just sounds like "desire", which I feel fits the song well.
Secondly, my personal interpretation of the song.
I don't know any Japanese and I have to heavily rely on translations (the ones on Youtube and the one on the Wiki are somewhat different, but I'll be referencing to both). I also tend to miss notable details in the MV (which is a shame because I really enjoy Danjou Sora's MVs), so there might be a lot of things that I could be missing about the song's meaning. (As I'm writing this, I'm going back and forth between typing and watching the MV.)
How I see this song, I always knew that YukaIA love each other here. But it's not exactly what's considered a "typical" romantic relationship. From they are portrayed in the song, they seem to have a "friends with benefits" type of relationship where they only see each other for. Specific reasons. But with the lyrics, it feels like that they want more than that. They want to actually be together and date without just being together for sex.
The title seems to add to that. An 'ice breaker' is often referred to a thing where people do activities (play games, starting a conversation, etc) so it can "break the tension" between people. It is also a drink. In the song, it seems to refer to the drink with the Wiki translated line of 'Your tears fall into the glass and become a bittersweet cocktail of sorrow' but I think it refers to both. It feels that YukaIA haven't exactly "broken the ice" between them and with the lines 'when will we see each other again? weeping and crying', they only see each other for one purpose.
One of my favourite details in the MV is the line 'mousou wa kumo no ito' at 1:24 and 3:34, which roughly translates to 'delusion is a spiderweb'. In those moments, a thin thread snaps as if to say "the thin thread holding onto reality is broken easily".
I'm not the best as these kinds of things, so I could be wrong about these things. If anyone has any interpretations about the song, please let me know!
Overall, please, please, please listen to the original! It just recently reached a million views last year (and last year, I listened to this song at least 100 times a day to help get it there /hj), it's criminally underated. There are so many human covers that are more popular than it, and while human vocals aren't bad (I listen to utaites as much as I listen to Vocal Synth music on a daily basis!) It's the kind of song where there will be hundreds of covers, but the original itself isn't popular. And as someone who cherishes the original, it's quite saddening. So please, listen to this song as many times possible today!
Sorry, this is such a messy rambling that I wish was more organized and more well written. I have so many feelings for this song and I'm not the best with these kinds of things. (maybe I'll clean this up in the future fdgfndbg)

MUN'S COMFORT LIST
Comfort food(s): Pizza (like the good Italian peep I am), sushi, spicy things, chocolate and sweets!
Comfort drink(s): Bubble tea and mocaccino on non-alcoholic side, wine otherwise!
Comfort movie(s): Atlantis! I still cry to the beginning and ending scenes and the Crystal Chamber never fails to give me goosebumps. And REC. Calling that "comfort" is a huuuuge stretch, but it's one of the best horror movies I ever watched and nothing ever spooked me as much as that one. Love me some strong emotions!
Comfort show(s): Speaking of strong emotions, Cabinet of Curiosities has been destroying me lately in both a good and bad way, but I'm enjoying in thoroughly and it's probably gonna stay as one of my favourites. On a completely different note, Wander over Yonder and Vox Machina. Something tells me I'll be back to change/add more a thousand times after I post this.
[[EDIT]] Oh shit I forgot Fallout!!! And Pluto!
Comfort clothing: Black/dark t-shirts with nerdy prints and leggins. Also earrings of all kinds.
Comfort song(s): Peter Gundry's entire production and videogames soundtracks/instrumental pieces with emotional intent! And System of a Down and Blackbriar as groups!
Comfort book(s): I'm very attached to the Emerged World sagas because they're the first big trilogies that ever really got me into fantasy as a child ♡
Comfort game(s): I'm afraid League of Legends is far past me without a group of friends that plays with me because of its awful community, but I'll never forget it's the reason why I started chasing my dream job and today I'm finally starting to see it realized. But! Kingdom Hearts got me into gaming during childhood and I'm still respecting it despite the creators' thirst for money and questionable writing, Hollow Knight is going to stay one of my all-time favourites, Minecraft is also fun with friends, Crypt of the Necrodancer satisfies my love for gaming and music, [[EDIT]] Dead by Daylight is my new happy choice for nights with friends and! Last but not least!! TTRPG games - most of them!! Gift me a good story and let me immerse myself in them with a loved character of mine and you'll have my heart for years to come, as my DMs very well know ♡
Also, just for the record, a few honorable mentions: horror RPG maker games and Undertale got me into story-based games, Among us, Slay the Princess struck my heart lately, Ring of Pain was an amazing go-to to fill the time and Baldur's Gate is the best alternative to real campaigns I tried so far. Probably unpopular opinion: I don't like fighting and mechanics that much - some fights are breathtaking but I'm mostly in for the story and the relationships with characters (absolutely not limited to romantic ones) and I can't take it seriously because of the possibility to reload and my lack of discipline with avoiding it. So yes, but also no. Just a mention.

207: Atahualpa Yupanqui // El hombre, el paisaje y su canción
El hombre, el paisaje y su canción Atahualpa Yupanqui 1969, Odeon
Atahualpa Yupanqui was a titanic figure in Argentine music. As an ethnomusicologist who formed a bridge between various forms of Indigenous folk music and the younger artists of the nueva canción (new song) movement; a first-rate composer; and a political revolutionary imprisoned numerous times for his beliefs, Yupanqui is a fine representative of that era of Latin American creators whose artistic quality was equaled by the courage of their convictions. Due to his Communist Party affiliation, Yupanqui didn’t record much until he was already in his 40s, which robs us of the voice of his youth, but also enforces his image as a fatherly figure, a living link with the past.
youtube
Once he started recording though, the torrent was overwhelming—between his remarkable productivity and the tendency of labels to constantly repackage his work, forging a semblance of a linear discography is beyond my skills. I’m not altogether sure of the provenance of El hombre, el paisaje y su canción (The Man, the Landscape and His Song), a 1969 record I picked up on a lark a few years back that became an instant favourite in the Wifeleft household. There was an album of the same name released the previous year that shares four tracks, suggesting my Hombre may be a compilation—on the other hand, he recorded many of his songs numerous times, so it’s possible these are from an entirely different session. The album certainly sounds as though it was recorded in one sitting.
No matter, this is my favourite of the handful of Yupanqui albums I’ve heard to date. He is presented solo, as usual, accompanied only by his own acoustic guitar, and over a scant 30 minutes or so draws the listener entirely into his world. I feel as though I am watching the master singing for a small audience gathered on his porch, his fingers translating the weariness of the day’s labours into something more somber and romantic, his voice that of a man who understands his role is to witness and recount. The lyrics often look directly at the travails of working people, as on “Trabajo, quiero trabajo” (“Work, I Want Work”) and “Campesino” (“Peasant”), but there is also that mystical element common in Spanish poetry, as on “Guitarra, dímelo tú” (“Guitar, Tell Me”):
Guitar, you tell me Men are dead gods Already long collapsed Not even his dreams were saved Only the shadow has remained
El hombre also includes a pair of instrumentals that show off the expressiveness of Yupanqui’s playing to great effect—“El llanto” (“Crying”) is as poignant as its title suggests, while “Malambo” (named for an Argentine folk dance) reminds me a bit of the American Primitive fingerstyle associated some distance north with John Fahey.
I doubt there is such a thing as a poor-quality Atahualpa Yupanqui album, and I think any collection would be enriched by his inclusion. He makes a great entry point to South American folk, some of the most timeless and impassioned music of the 20th century.

II. Arknights OSTs Top 20 of Eve's Favourite Songs for December 2023
I honestly thought 20 would actually be too much for me, but Monster Siren, Team Kazdel and everybody else who is working on the Arknights music... Kudos. 10 million kudos and a kiss because they are what actually help me get out of bed in the morning.
11. Flame Shadow - Reed the Flameshadow OST There's something very romantic, calming and sweet in this song in general. The second I heard it - I knew it was a me type of song. On a very surface level I vibe with Reed Alter and her song managed to touch me. That's all.
youtube
12. Sentenced - Penance OST And in contrast with FlameShadow this one is rather sad, mournful, it resonated with me at a moment where I was very sad myself and because of that it managed to bring me up. Which I don't know how it works. but thank you Penance, my first wife, first Arknights woman I wanted, for being there.
youtube
13. Lullabye - Mephisto Boss OST Crying. Sobbing. Actually throwing up from how hard my body is getting sick of despair.
youtube
14. Rhythm In Literature - Phantom and the Crimson Solitaire (IS3) Playwriter Boss OST ... I hate IS3, but I very very much enjoy the music. Everything that is Phantom is dramatic and lovely. Why the Playwriter boss exactly? Who knows. I haven't beaten a SINGLE ending so far, but I have indeed seen: Save him.
youtube
15. The Rides To Lake Silberneherze - Lobby Theme Can't wait for this event in 6 months. It will very intensely remind me about 'The Lion's song' which is one of my favourite visual novels. I'm sad now, I want to play it again. Maybe one day over streams. I need the world to KNOW. For now, Silberneherze!
youtube
16. Zwillingstürme im Herbst - Lobby Theme Again - soft, sweet, somewhat mysterious, especially in the way it begins as it feels like a record/vynil playing. Such a Dr. Eve theme.
youtube
17. Abyssal Ravings - Stultifera Navis OST (part 4) No excuse. I love the abyssal ravings. Sounds like the voices in my head.
youtube
18. The Whirlpool That Is Passion - The Sanguinarch Boss OST Have not yet reached this boss fight, but I am SO excited. I might check Arknights right now to see if I can pull any Sanity pots out of the weekly rewards so I can continue the campaign.
youtube
19. Control's Wishes - Kirsten Boss OST Didn't like it at first. I thought I was too good for the futuristic themes because I really do not enjoy sci-fi that much and the whole 'make a space ship' was over my head. However, the boss fight was cool and the music is cool. Never seen a better themed introduction to a boss than when the music counts down '3, 2, 1' and she shows up.
youtube
20. Absolute Zero - Frostnova The Winter's Scar OST ... ... May you sleep finally warm and comfortable.

Jeff Buckley: They Don't Even Know Me Yet
Martin Aston, MOJO, January 2003
In 1992 Jeff Buckley gave his first ever press interview. A decade later, MOJO unearths this incredible, little-seen document.
AUTUMN IN NEW YORK, 1992. A tiny East Village cafe, the Sin-e. It's packed, but there's a seat near the very front, under the singer's nose. His, eyes are clenched shut. He's nervous, edgy, but it's a truly memorable show; jittery, comical, thrilling, mesmeric. When he's singing the voice is pure, stretching high-low, curling around a song. He closes on a song that could very well be a lullaby, and your eyes close with his.
Three days later, in another tiny cafe, via a mutual friend who knows Tim Buckley is your all-time favourite singer, and who told you, 'You gotta hear his son', you meet Jeff. He's dressed down — plaid shirt, jeans — which draws you to the face; short, thatched hair, looming eyes, rich lips, a wary expression. It's his first ever interview, and he's nervous, defensive. The first thing he says, almost before handshakes, is whether you're here purely because of Tim. No, but then again, yes. He accepts that there's little point writing about Jeff simply because you love Tim, any more than you can avoid Tim because of Jeff. In the end, only Dutch magazine OOR takes a chance on an interview with a total unknown: based, of course, on the familial connection to Tim. The interview is never published in the UK. By the time everyone catches up with Jeff the interview is out of date. But now, given his death and enshrined appeal, it's timeless.
When did music first make an impact on you?
As a child. There was my mother's breasts and then there was music. It felt like another person in the house that floated with me everywhere. All my life, I've sung along to the radio, stuff like [Spiral Staircase's] 'I Love You More Today Than Yesterday'. My mum would drive me to school, playing mellow Californian radio, stuff like Chicago, Crosby Stills and Nash, Blood Sweat and Tears, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, The Temptations, every day! She married a car mechanic, who couldn't carry a tune, but he had amazing taste and he turned me on to Booker T, Led Zeppelin and Joni Mitchell, Hoyt Axton and Willie Nelson. My mum pretty much sung to me — she's a classically-trained pianist and cellist. So it was mainly me and my mum, because my parents split before I was born. I hung around my grandmother too — she'd play me stuff like The Chambers Brothers.
It's rare to hear someone smitten with both traditional blues and modern blues. I'm thinking of your cover of 'Fare Thee Well'.
That's Dink's Song. It was originally written by a washerwoman. That's where the best music came from, from old European-American criminals bringing Africans to America. My favourites are Robert Johnson and Bukka White, The Staple Singers, Billie Holiday. I cover 'Strange Fruit', too. I figured I wouldn't be able to meet these people, so I learn from them by hearing them sing. Some of the coolest music is Johnny Cash, which isn't a black or white thing. I love Mariachi music, Ray Charles, Edith Piaf, the Sex Pistols, Muddy Waters…I just saw gifts dangling from them and wanted to take it. I guess I want to be an archetypal entertainer, an archetypal bard, a minstrel. I guess I have a romantic vision. Even though punk happened to me, and Robert Johnson, I want to be a realty good storyteller, and those songs have great stories.
What do you love about 'Twelfth Of Never'?
I cover the Nina Simone version. It's just the way she does it. I can't get into Elvis's version, it doesn't capture my imagination, though he had a beautiful voice. Every time I hear 'Can't Help Falling In Love', I cry. I can't separate Charles Manson from The Beatles or the Clambake movie from Elvis, though. But I love all music. I'm the Cocteau Twins' biggest fan, too. They allow their deepest eccentricities to be the music itself, and not just something they want to project. Liz Fraser is one of the only originals. They're just regular people, too. I got to meet her once, she was very shy, which puts a weird curve on music as well. Imagine that sound coming out of her mouth when she's in the kitchen scrambling eggs.
Was music your first true love?
Besides sex? One surrounds the other. I can remember being obsessed with my stepfather's stereo, getting into trouble for using it. He was really possessive of control over it, like a car. It was expensive equipment, so I was really careful. Then one day, I wanted to listen to a live bootleg of Jimi Hendrix, and he went mad. I had a tape player in my room, I shared it with another kid in the family. You had to stick a hanger in it for it to work.
How do you feel when you open your mouth and sing?
Like it's real. I feel like crying. I feel like I am crying! It's the middle point between laughing and immense joy and crying. I feel the best when I'm singing.
When did you start?
In front of an audience at a family get-together. My stepfather got drunk and fell asleep in front of everyone, and my grandmother got really embarrassed, so to direct attention away from him, I sung every Elton John song I knew. I was a huge fan then. They gave me some silver dollars for doing it. I was 13 (laughs). My friend and I started play electric guitars, you know, 'Stairway To Heaven', for a talent show at junior high school. We lost…We were living in southern California then. I later had a band in northern California, in Willetts, called Axxis. It wasn't my idea. It's one of the 19 cities I've lived in, I attended four high schools. One I spent two weeks in. My mum was quite a gypsy.
What did you make of your own voice?
I hated it, but I got over it. I'm horribly self-critical. I think the first time I heard it, I thought no way could I ever keep anything from anyone, it was all there in the voice. Some ways that people sing, they put it across in language, and it's almost impossible, because they have a wall between them and the expression. I'm trying to get deeper in the hole, trying to learn things when I hear voices.
Did the concept of singing on a stage come easily to you?
It was totally natural, I just did it. It was like going to the beach, like, I'm going into the ocean! I never thought about it. I first sang at a dance in Northern California Methodist Church, to high school kids. When I was 13, I already knew what I wanted to do. My all-time favourite was Led Zeppelin, and I knew I wanted to belong to that. In the '70s, there was an overspill of rock life, which becomes coffee table material, with books on Kiss and rock stars on TV. I knew it was possible for some people to do it for a living. I spent hours listening to Magical Mystery Tour. I felt like an archaeologist, which is fine, because I liked dinosaurs! But that was the wrong direction.
I left home when I was 17, because I was tired of moving around. I played in lots of LA bands, just to make money. There was a reggae band for a while, The AKB Band, a rag-tag motley crew, with one rasta guy. I played guitar. We ended up backing up U-Roy, Shinehead and Judy Mowatt, and at the Bob Marley day at Long Beach. We did cheesy session work for demos, too.
What did the experience teach you?
The simplicity. I guess it didn't teach me much at the time. It's like your parents telling you what not to do. But Pablo, the rasta, everything he said about playing makes sense now. Forget the next band. I then decided not to spread myself that thin. I didn't like southern California, LA especially. Hollywood isn't a real town, but that's the reality of it. I'd wanted to see New York since I saw it on TV when I was 12, to experience the energy, so I took off in 1990. I got a couple of jobs, and went hungry for a long while, before I got an offer to record songs in LA, so I flew back, and recorded four songs. I went back-and-forth a bit, before I met Gary Lucas at a show in New York, at a tribute show to my father. I thought playing with Gary would be interesting but it turned out to be a disaster. We had two completely different paths…the cart was before the horse. But I learnt to go out and sing, in impossibly intimate settings, when guys are right up against you. You learn how to move a room. The biggest challenge is to put a song across live. The audience shouldn't see your face, or your body, they should just hear you.
Do you enjoy the New York scene?
I dig it. If I was in LA, I wouldn't be doing anything, but here, there's a real respect. There's a respect for anything original. Maybe I'm overpoweringly romanticising New York, but so many amazing things happen here on an ordinary level, like Lou Reed lives here, wow! I first heard him in '76 but he got into my soul, it just takes one time, like Helen Keller…it's just the sound of the song. I was in somebody else's car, feeling lonely. Heroin is so beautiful, like a big black kiss, the way it builds. He sounds like a punk who knows everything. He's got such erudition, but he's not too smart.
What stage are you at right now?
Always at the beginning. I'd love to make a record. Clive Davis at Arista wanted to sign me but he hadn't heard me, it was just on the basis of what his right hand man, the head of A&R, had said. I plan to start from what matters. In September, I'll perform all new material, a lot of covers, and I wanna find people to play with. Yeah, a band, just because of the certain feeling I need. An energy.
Can I raise the delicate matter of your dad, Tim?
Sometimes, with people who knew him, they've come for a nice night out, but they see me, they don't think about him. Those who do, I don't hang around them. We're different. The people who knew him, they have apparently a very magic memory, but it's been a claustrophobic thing all my life. I knew him for a total of nine days. He never wrote, never called.
Do people claim that you're just your father's son?
If anyone mentions that, I walk. If I go to a club, and some writer uses that area, then I rip the shit down and say, Fuck you, see you later, we can talk about this next time, because I'm on my own.
Do you listen to his records?
Yeah, mostly to learn about him as a person. He wrote a couple of songs about me and my mother, which is sometimes tough. His style has nothing to do with what I do. It's funny that we were born with the same parts, but when I sing, it's me. Technically, I can do what he did, but our expression is not the same, it's a completely different sphere. His was a different time, influenced by Dylan and the folkies. I don't even talk like him. But I can do a good impersonation of him, knitting up my eyebrows, which makes people laugh.
As far as music goes, so many people who I know and love, who give me so much, they don't even know me yet. I want to make something completely new. I was into Miles Davis in 1984, he said he could tell when people were paying tribute to him but it was just copying. The only way to pay tribute is to bring something new to the fold. I want to work so hard that everything of me bums away, like the chemical in the match. Which leaves what really is me, or what I think is me. It can be such a joy. Like the Beatles, they were geniuses, you know? Music's like a sign language between people, so when a guy from Iran or America hears The Beatles, they go 'Wow!' They don't think of killing each other. There's something about music that hits the cavemen in us, even more than a speech or painting. I just want to achieve my own vibe. I want to go someplace else. There's more ways of saying 'I love you', more ways of saying 'where the hell do I fit in?', more ways of saying 'why doesn't anyone love me?, 'when is somebody going to want to kiss me?' I'm sick of waiting, waiting to be understood. And it's nothing arty, nothing lofty, it's just fucking different, and I want to leave this world behind a little so that maybe I will see that it's bigger and I haven't left it at all.

hi! sorry for the late ask!
sand is so annoying, it's like glitter in the way you still have it on you long after trying to get it off
i haven't been there either, but it definitely gives off the evermore vibe to me. it's the perfect atmosphere! same to me! it's one of my top 3 songs but i can't really pick between them since i love the whole album too much.
how are you feeling now that the tour is over? did you watch the whole thing? did you cry like i did? i loved that she did play a debut song in the end! the piano mashup was absolutely the best part of the night. so poetic and lovely
did you have a reading goal? mine was 25 books and luckily i achieved it a while ago. i've been meaning to read the priory of the orange tree but the size scares me a little. how many stars would you give it?
--🎅🍪
hi there! don't worry about it at all!
yesss you never get rid of it haha
i didn't watch the whole thing but luckily i finished work + got on the train in time to tune in for the surprise songs! i didn't cry but it was very special to watch! a place in this world was sooo unexpected but i love that she sang it, and new romantics is one of my faves (i actually wanted it as a surprise song for both rep tour + eras tour and didn't get it either time ahah) so i loved hearing that too!
hooray at meeting your goal! i set my goal at 20 and i hit it a while back so while i'm happy to have read a bit this year i'm disappointed with my consistency... i've had a few weeks where i've read heaps and then i'll go months without finishing a book . i'd like to be more consistent! and i really love the priory of the orange tree! it's a chunky book but in my opinion it definitely doesn't drag, worth every page! i think the first time i read it i gave it 5 stars and then this year when i reread it i was trying to be more discerning with my star ratings so i might've bumped it down to 4? but honestly i could very easily put it back up to 5 i think it's excellent. what's your favourite book you've read this year?

heyaa first post, anyways
have you ever wondered what song you would die to if you could?
like what if youre walking through a street and all of a sudden die? and theres a reallyyy shitty song playing or just something that just does not fit the vibe at all at all?
if i could die to any song, it would be jeff buckleys "lover, you should've come over".
i dont think theres much to say about that. its the perfect song.
romantic? yes
tragic? yes
depressing? yes
what else do you need?
i remember sitting in the back of my fathers car, driving the long 3 hour drive to my mothers house after a long weekend of fun with him. i remember so vividly, him playing the "grace" album. i didnt take much notice of it at first given i wasnt and still am not a big fan of "mojo pin" or even "grace" and i think i may have fallen asleep by the time "last goodbye" came on(shhh i was like 5 and it was about 10 pm at night in a warm cozy car).
i remember feeling jeff buckleys vocals, not even hearing them but feeling them. i thought i was going to explode. the amount of peace and serenity that entered my brain at once was strange and unknown to me. though i was only 5 or so, every word he sang, stuck. whatever was going through my head, i cried, right from "lilac wine" to "lover you shouldve come over". not in a whiney, loud and disruptive way, but i sat in the back seat of my fathers blue mitsubishi and cried, silently, with my head pressed up against the cool car window.
jeff buckleys vocals on "lilac wine" drawed me in like a lullaby, made me tired but i knew i couldnt sleep, i had to keep on listening. the slowness and captivity of it hurt me in ways of the unknown, and why? to this day i still do not know.
"lilac wine, i feel unsteady, like my love"
for a long long time "so real" was my favourite song of all time from that album. it scared me, but it attracted me too. i wanted more, if that makes any sense. i wanted to do more than just hear it, i wanted it to dance with me and spin me around, i wanted someone to plait it into my soul like a french braid. it was so real. and hurtful and painful and so so real.
"and i couldnt awake from the nightmare, that sucked me in and pulled me under, pulled me under"
i knew "hallelujah" before as my mother was a massive leonard cohen fan. i already knew it was beautiful. but whereas leaonard cohens original version is masculine(due to his deep voice) and is more like a story. jeff buckleys cover is angelic, soft and mesmerising. i am not religious but this man sounds like hes singing gods words, like hes written them. the passion and the unreal emotion evoking beauty of his voice makes it unsurprising that most people know this version more than the original one.
"and from her lips she drew the hallelujah"
last but not least. "lover you shouldve come over". the eeriness of the beginning opening with the accordian playing solo, like an echo of an old tune. buckley opens the song with the image of a funeral. already morbid, but descriptive. i think this song should only be listened to in the rain, theres no other way. the lonliness this skng evokes. like a disconnection from the entire world but a deep understanding of it. the song itself, its not a song, not a person, like a lost soul, bound to this world forced to be alone, hidden away so no one can see it, but on display to witness everything. the desperation of the soul is exposed throughout the song, speaking of "her" who in my opinion represents love. the soul yearns for it, constantly grasping for it but missing each time, and cannot see a reason to keep going without "her", this song is like the last words of this soul, its last lament, or manifesto. though the soul is giving up, he still believes if she sees this theres still a chance. this song is a cry for help.
"too young to hold on, and too old to just break free and run"
when "lover, you shouldve come over" finishes in my dads car, we sat in silence. my father softly apologises and plays the song once more.
in conclusion, that is my song.
thank you jeff buckley, rip
