Atri's formal rites, by the way:
The short version--the general blessing-over-the-restless-dead, short enough to be said in battle, basically what will evolve into Turn Undead when she gets her third Cleric level--is "Queen of Ravens, turn your gaze upon a wayward soul."
The version she said for Klara:
Mistress of Ravens, turn your gaze in mercy on a wayward soul... Call her softly to where the tyrant holds no whip, the beggar feels no hunger, and all chains are broken.
ngl I did think we might get through the PROLOGUE before I had to break out the full formal funeral rites that I wrote for Atri specifically to save for speaking over the remains of a tortured innocent with whom she had established a deep connection but--
#d&d#strahd campaign#atri's prayerbook#I respect the approach of a cynical cleric#and the commitment of playing like....a My Deity Right Or Wrong zealot as well#but for me the appeal of playing Atri is her sincere and tender faith#and it's important that like...she reveres the Raven Queen for what she represents#not the other way around#she doesn't care about this because her goddess does--she worships her goddess because this is important#it means something to her#her little prayerbook in the back of my d&d notebook is central to her character#rituals of mourning are important. it may or may not make a material difference to the dead in this world--#but it makes a material difference to Atri#it matters that she says funeral rites for the zombies she kills. every time.#it matters that she cuts the restraints Klara died in even though it won't help anyone now#obviously I'm not going to make the party sit through me RPing the prayers EVERY time once I've got a new one established#but like. the first time absolutely. that's essential to who Atri is as a character
