What songs did Alan Price and Dave Rowberry play keyboard on?
A somewhat-helpful chart so you know which funky piano man is playing on a given Animals song. 😔🙏

I really wanted to write tonight, but today has been long and ugh and I’ve just run out of steam. So we have a Nuttyfic Reblog again.
But this is different. This scene isn’t archived anywhere (I don’t think). It is old and a deleted scene from the early Warm Rain universe. It has a touch of Virgil/Kayo in it, but I feel there is other content in there about wee!Tracys that is fluffy enough to share.
I wouldn’t say it is my best (one of the reasons why it was deleted from the timeline), but it is something on a day I have nothing.
It was originally written for @vegetacide during one of our chats, I think back in 2018. We had a lot of fun building that universe :D
I hope you enjoy this little bit.
And hopefully my muse will stop floundering and write something at some point soon. ::pokes it with a stick::

Gordon stepped into the comms room with no small amount of relief. He and Alan had been called out yet again, and though he would never admit it to his older brother, taking Thunderbird Two out without Virgil was hard.
Not only because he missed his brother, that was a given, but because the team was compromised. Alan was a great team mate, his performance was flawless. He just wasn’t Virgil. It was like a piece of the puzzle was missing and they couldn’t make it up.
Of course, they still saved people, their record was exemplary, but it was just that touch harder, less like clockwork, more like hard work.
The sound of the piano was dancing through the room and Gordon took the moment to stand and simply listen. Admittedly, he was no connoisseur of classical music, but this was his brother, and just like Virgil had room in his life for Gordon’s swimming, Gordon had an appreciation of his brother’s music.
Today it was a familiar tune. A very familiar tune.
Huh?
Virgil started singing ever so softly...”A, B, C, D, E, F, G...”
What the-?
“H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P...” His fingers danced up and down the keyboard adding riffs that Gordon could not remember ever existing in that song. “Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z.” Another complicated melody intervened, then, “If you sing this song with me, I will kiss you each, one, two, three.”
Gordon blinked, memories surfacing, Virgil used to play that when they were little kids, having made the words up himself. Sometimes before bed, sometimes just for fun, often ending with a kiss for each of his little brothers, one, two three. And there was the final line, added for a damn good reason...
Almost whispered. “And we can’t forget there is one more, a special kiss for number four.” Kayo, the line added shortly after she came to live with them.
As for Scott...well, he was often pounce hugged by all five of them immediately after for being left off due to the lack of an easy rhyme.
It was something from their early lives.
The music had stopped and Virgil was sitting staring at the keys.
“I haven’t heard that for years.”
Virgil visibly jumped, his hand inadvertently hitting a random note. The piano squawked.
“Hey, bro, take it easy. It’s just me, number two.” He grinned.
The smile Virgil sent back was fragile and small.
Gordon frowned. “What’s up?”
His brother shrugged and gently closed the piano. “Nothing.”
“Well, that nothing certainly looks like something.”
“It’s fine, Gordy. Just...I’m fine.” Another attempt at a smile and his brother stood up. “I’m gonna run down and do some post mission checks on TB2.”
“Alan’s already doing those.”
“Then I’ll go help him.”
Completely mystified. “Sure.”
And Virgil left.
Okay, that was weird.
There was the sound of a soft footstep behind him and he turned expecting Alan to be shirking the task that Gordon had just vouched him for.
But no. He frowned. Kayo?
Her shadow slipped away.
Okay.
Odd.
Very odd.
But food. There should be food around here somewhere.
Gordon dumped his gear on the lounge and headed for the kitchen.

Ryusoulger Solo Interview from Mynavi: Kishida Tatsuya
Tumblr media
Ryusoulger has been running for four months since the start of its broadcast in March 2019. How you are feeling about it?
When the Sixth Ranger Kanaro (Hyoudou Katsumi) finally appeared in episode 14, I thought, “Ah, we have come this far. Time sure flies.” Even so, the feeling that I’ve played my role as well as grasped that distance we’ve gotten through between every episode up until now, is still very strong.
- Banba used to have a harsh view such as “In order to save many human beings, (Minusaur’s host) one’s sacrifice is unavoidable.” But he met Kou and the others, and little by little was exposed to their kindness. So, there are a lot of episodes dedicated to this process. Surely for Kishida-san,  those episodes’ impressions are strong, aren’t they?
I’m now sticking to the part that “Banba’s atmosphere is different from everyone else”. At this stage, he doesn’t have any intention to become friends with Kou, so I’m always aware of the subtle sense of distance, such as standing alone even though everyone else is gathering.
-From now on, surely, we’re expecting that Banba will fully communicate with Kou and become friends.
I once had the opportunity to talk with the screenwriter Yamaoka (Junpei) and the producers, and at that time he said “Banba is the closest when it comes to human emotion.” You see, when humans have aged long enough, they won’t change easily in a year. That’s how I think about it. “Yesterday,he was gentle, but today, he is back to being grumpy again?” We discussed whether or not it was a good thing to have such character like that.
-In episode 8 “ Singing Voice of Miracle”, Ryusoulger successfully fools the enemy. After Kou and Towa happily do a high-five to each other, Banba only bumps fists with Kou, while his face facing the other side. Such a wonderful “Tsundere”. He’s not planning to get along, but he lets himself join their rhythm. That’s what makes Banba stand out. Am I right?
Actually, we were being let to do ad-libs at that time. I never thought it would be used (laughs). After the episode was broadcasted, I was surprised to hear a lot of feedback about that on Twitter. It was a casual scene and I played it without much thought. Because of the slow motion, I was shown moving in various ways, even though it was a quick filming. At first, I thought I didn’t have to do anything, but Kou and the others were so eager to do high-five with Banba. So in the end, I just did it without seeing his eyes.
-Even for the children who watches the TV series, Banba is strong but a little “scary”. That is the impression they may get from him.
I also think so. Like I said earlier, “Banba will not change”, but by meeting Kou and others, a slight change is unavoidable. At first, he called Kou “Omae” (T/N: means “You” but harsh), but he started to call him by his name. Although he consciously can’t forgive it, there is still a part in his heart where the intention to be friends is growing.
-It may be rude for me to say this but, Banba is unexpectedly quite popular among children. Kishida-san, is there any experience, like when you finally realized the popularity of Banba?
The thing that I feel grateful about is, I get talked to more often than usual when I walk outside. Originally, I thought Banba was intended to give appeal to the mothers and older Tokusatsu fans, but unexpectedly, I heard some young children said “I like Banba”. I was really happy about that. Not to mention that Banba also has some fans among girls. I once looked at Instagram, and found a kid wearing Banba’s costume that their mother likely has made by herself, and I thought, “Oh, it ’s pretty cool” (laughs).
- Banba dan Ryusoul Black’s costumes are based on the color black, thus giving very cool atmosphere. I can understand those children’s feeling who want to cosplay as him.
Wearing this outfit, you may feel a little restrained around your waist and look slim. On the other hand, as soon as you get a little fat, it would be very much noticeable, so I always pay attention to maintaining my body shape.
-Then, if there is a scene where Banba has to eat something delicious, it would be difficult, wouldn’t it?
The food that appeared in the show up until now, in the end, they were all eaten by everyone. Asuna (Osaki Ichika) is always shown eating something, after all (laughs). Banba is never shown to eat anything in the show, but the staffs always prepare delicious-looking food and make the studio filled with yummy smell. That’s why, even though I don’t want to, I always find myself want to eat. When the filming is over, I end up eating up a lot too (laughs).
- Who do you think has grown up the most, comparing to when you first met them?
That’s definitely Obara-kun. He is 17 years old now and it is his moments of growing up as a person. When I look at him by my side, I think “He’s doing amazing!” I’m impressed by how refined his expression now. We sometimes make pacts among ourselves, such as to arrive 10 minutes before meetings, and Obara-kun is the best when it comes to follow the rules. We have been together for a long time as brothers, and I would be very happy if Obara-kun could feel various things from me, and myself also could give him some good influence.
-Kishida-san, you seem to have so much fun being an elder brother who is proud of his little brother. I begin to think that you two are really like real brothers.
Well, aren’t we real brothers, though?(laughs) Looking closely at Obara-kun’s growth, makes me think I can’t lose to him. So, it feels like I’m being encouraged too.
Looking at Kishida-san’s Twitter, we can find two-shot photos with some actors who have appeared in the “Kamen Rider” and “Super Sentai”. Surely, these photos show us wonderful friendship between heroes, aren’t they?
Isomura Hayato and I have once appeared in “Kyou kara ore wa!”, but at that time I didn’t know that he also appeared in “Kamen Rider Ghost” (Kamen Rider Necrom/ Alan). When I was decided to appear in “Ryusoulger”, I looked up to various things about the past “Super Sentai”, and found out that I was acquainted with such amazing Kamen Rider and Tokusatsu heroes. “I should take pictures when I meet them next time,” so I thought (laughs). I get along with Inaba Yuu-kun (Kamen Rider Mach/Shijima Gou from “Kamen Rider Drive” ) , Tozuka Junki-kun (Nara Shunpei from “Kamen Rider Wizard”), and Suda Masaki-kun (Philip from “Kamen Rider W”). I took photos with them, hoping that it could make Tokusatsu fans happy.
-But now, you have joined those heroes whom the children look up to. What kind of feeling do you have when you strike your “transformation” pose that is unique to you as a hero?
It’s exciting, really. I myself used to be a child who played and imitated those heroes’ transformation poses, up to their details. I feel excited to think that there would be some children who imitate my transformation pose this time.
-Who is Tokusatsu hero Kishida-san admired as a child?
“Choriki Sentai Ohranger” (1995) and “Gekisou Sentai Carranger” (1996) were the oldest heroes in my memory. But the one that I felt most addicted was “Seijuu Sentai Gingaman” (1998). In fact, the memories of playing with Gingaman’s toys still remain vivid. Among the five warriors, red and blue rangers have different ways of transforming, and I was a child who cared for those trivial things like that. Therefore, as Banba, I’m strongly aware of things like, the movements that only Banba would do. Even in the ending Que Bom Dance, the dance actually shows the individuality of each Ryusoulger.
-Action scenes are also frequently shown, especially in the episodes when director Sakamoto Koichi was in charge, like in episode 7, 8 and 15, 16. Some scenes, such as doing Ryusoul Change while fighting against Drunn soldiers were really outstanding.
I originally love action, and Director Sakamoto is the person in charge who has spent time in various action scenes, so I feel we are very compatible. Episode 15 and 16 are more challenging than episode 7 and 8. I want to challenge more actions in the future.
-Even at press conferences and photo sessions, Kishida-san’s “commitment”, such as not showing “smile” at all as Banba, is very wonderful, in my opinion.
I always think that images are important for heroes, so I want to do my role firmly. However, it is troubling me when people greet me as Banba. Banba’s personality makes me seem to be a very cold person. Of course, I myself am different from Banba, so when I naturally tried to act gentle, the mothers reacted like “Huh? Is Banba actually such a person?” It made me rethink that he really is such difficult role! (Laughs) However, they also pointed out those as the “unexpected” sides of Banba, so it still settles me much or less when creating a solid image of Banba. I myself like children, so I want to give them a gentle approach, but about how I should do it
I just can’t find the answer. I think I have to ask those who are already seniors at being heroes.
–Banba had never smiled until now, but at the end of the episode “The Prisoned Mosa”, he cracked a little smile, and it had positive reception on Twitter. I guess, it’s enough to make more children come to Banba deliberately now.
Until now, the children never come to me by themselves. Therefore, I myself try to go closer when I have eye contacts with children.
-In the 13th episode “The Prime Minister is Ryusoul tribe!?”, the existence of Banba and Towa’s master was implied. But Kishida-san and Obara-san, were you two actually aware of such story development and the mysteries behind it?
-To be honest, until we get our new script, we’ve been acting without knowing what will happen next. There were times when I acted while thinking “So, it was actually this kind of story!?” It is my first experience to act under such condition, so it’s very difficult (laughs). As an actor, playing without knowing the future is anxious, but fun. However, I don’t want to regret, saying such things like “I should have done it like this” when looking back at the past after I find out about the mysterious part. For now, acting while deciding what is the best to do in various subtle situations, becomes a great lesson for me as an actor.
-Ryusoulger cast give a very good impression as a team. Do you think that good relationship with them as friends affects your acting as Banba?
Looking at these recent scene photos, it seems Banba’s expressions are somewhat gentler than at the start of filming. This also happens to everyone else, and I guess it is because of the length of time we’ve spent together. I want to be an actor who rather than becomes the source, I prefer to be “the receiver” of those plays from various people. And I think my expressions get mellowed due to having received those feelings. It is now a completely different atmosphere compared to the beginning. If I was let to say one thing, it would end up divided into 5 or 6, as we actually share the same feelings among ourselves.
-Kishida-san, as the oldest member, you also have longer experience as an actor, to the extent that everyone else admires you as their “big brother”.
-Whenever there is something they don’t understand, it’s nice to hear them calling me out “Tatsu-nii! Tatsu-nii!”. I feel to be in a position that has to warn them if they do something sloppy. But rather than saying it directly, it’d be better if I act in advance and put myself as an example. They are all honest and nice guys, and the new member Hyoudou (Katsumi)-kun is also very polite when playing baseball. He’s such a pleasant man to be involved with.
-As we know, the long-awaited movie “Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger THE MOVIE Time Slip! Dinosaur Panic!!” has been released on July 26. Is there any experience that particularly impressed you when shooting this movie?
I still remember, after shooting all day long, there was a time when I couldn’t do (acting) at all. After episode 17, Banba’s attitude to his friends has much or less changed, but according to the script, the episode has not happened yet in the movie. So I had to enter the movie setting while being aware of that. Up until now, the change of Banba’s emotion has accumulated according to the order of TV episodes. I had to act while throwing away some parts of those changes that shouldn’t have happened in the movie. It’s quite difficult.
There was also things like when I was troubled during the shooting, it suddenly went raining. I’d heard that weather in the location might change easily
, but because of raining, I became impatient to fix and catch up
Things that I thought world be worked out
, the confidence just immediately flew away from my head. That’s why, I would be happy if you can check on the theater, those changes in Banba’s expressions that have troubled me so much.
-In episode 1 and 2, Banba and Towa have not yet appeared, so Kishida-san and Obara-san met Director Kamihoriuchi for the first time in the movie version. Kamihoriuchi-san once said in an interview that he always acted strictly towards all the actors, but how exactly does Kishida-san see Kamihoriuchi-san as a person?
When a scene isn’t played well, he will immediately go “Cut!”, and make us repeat it until it is good enough to be used. Rather than strictness, I think that it is more like Kamihoriuchi-san’s “kindness”. Because in order to meet the expectations of the directors, we indeed must continue to improve ourselves as actors.
-Please tell us about the highlights of Banba that are unique to this movie.
In this movie, because Kou has to move alone, there are many scenes where Melto, Asuna, Towa and Banba are working together. Melto and Asuna whom Kou usually works together with, are trying their best until Kou returns. Their growth and how they build their bond are presented intriguingly in this movie. I myself dedicatedly played Banba as the one who supports and watches over them. Though, Banba only gets a little chance to act between intervals (laughs). I realized the hard feeling when my role is not supposed to stand out, instead of being at front and doing something. Sentai usually consists 5 warriors. With Kanaro, we become 6 members. Naturally, it’s not good to make only one person speak lines while the others are only watching from behind. Even though I still don’t know how, I want to make everyone comment on a silent scene, that “It should be Banba who speaks there.” From now on too, I always look forward to your support for Banba and Ryusoulger!

A-Z Book Recommendations.
What a great idea from my friend at @macrolit :) Had to give it a go. I’ve omitted “A’s” and “The’s” from most of the titles for sake of flow.
A - American Gods by Neil Gaiman - A wandering modern “fantasy” that felt keenly poignant to me having grown up in the midwest. You’ll need patience for this one but this book is truly about the journey not the destination.
B - Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer - I’ll be honest, I never finished this series. It got a little overblown but the characters are so genuine that I held out a lot longer than I would expect of myself. This first book though is the definition of a classic middle reader. Lot of Adventure and a lovable, fierce, albeit flawed, female protagonist.
C - Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess - I used to read this book every summer. It’s a rough read with some explicit violence (sexual and otherwise) but an important one I think. I recommend reading the “British” publishing which has 21 chapters (the publishers took out the last one for American audiences, because apparently we don’t like character redemption and growth *eyeroll*). The real genius of this book is the vernacular Burgess created from scratch that is truly like reading another language at first.
D - Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - Not to be cliche but I find that a lot of the titles Booklr obsesses over in the YA genre to be par-baked at best. Not the case with this series! Well developed characters that exist beyond their actions and exhibit real emotional complexity without relying on tropes and a plot that kept me turning and turning pages!
E - East by Edith Pattou - This is a remnant from my scholastic book fair days. It’s a frightfully easy read, however, her love for the folktale on which it is based (East of the Sun and West of the Moon) shines through. Each chapter is told by a distinct alternating voice and though the plot leaps about a bit you do not lose any sense of forward motion.
F - Fly by Night by Frances Hardinge - At this point you’ve probably realized I love middle-reader books. There is also a pattern of relatable well written female protagonists in all of them. Not to be outdone the lead of this book is a stubborn young girl named Mosca and her equally prickly goose, who live in a fantasy setting based loosely on 18th century Britain. I won’t give anything else away except to say READ THIS BOOK!
G - Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson- I don’t exclusively read fantasy children’s books and here’s the proof. All of Larsson’s books are difficult to get into. Which can be put down to the fact that the first half of his reads are laying the complex groundwork for the gripping, fast paced, second half that will leave you gasping for air.
H - The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien - If you go into The Hobbit expecting the verbose grandeur of LoTR you’re going to be sorely disappointed. This book was aimed much more at a younger audience and is far more light-hearted and comical than its more mature follow-ups. Nevertheless it still has the grand beauty of Tolkien’s imagination and I quite like the whimsy of his narrative style in this prequel.
I - It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini - This book helped me understand aspects of my own struggle with depression and anxiety. It is heartfelt, raw, but most importantly not without hope. Vizzini committed suicide a few years ago, which leaves a bit of a cloud over the book but it is an important read for both those who struggle and those who care about them.
J - Jerusalem by Sami Tamimi and Yotam Ottolenghi - But Rachel this is a cookbook! Yes! Yes it is! But it’s also so much more than that. The entire thing is a love letter from the two authors who grew up, respectively, in the Jewish and Arabian communities of this complex city. Beyond the delicious recipes there is mouth-watering photography more akin to photojournalism than a traditional cookbook. Each section and almost each recipe is accompanied by an explanation of the historical and political machinations, tragedies, and cultures that led to its creation.
K - King Lear by William Shakespeare - Far and away one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. I dream of someday playing a gender-bent Lear. I find that this play in particular asks a lot of tough questions of its characters and they answer in frighteningly frustrating ways. “Tis the times’ plague, when madmen lead the blind.”
L - Letter for the King by Tonke Dragt - This book is a cult classic. Originally published in Dutch in 1962 it has since been translated into twelve languages! This is a classic hero’s journey written in a loving, nurturing hand.
M - Maresi by Maria Turtschaninoff - Maresi is a relatively new book that has flown totally under the YA Booklr radar. It has a vivid comparison to The Wizard of Earthsea series by Ursula K Leguin but is not a reproduction. The plot centers around an island of “sisters” in an intensely patriarchal world. The second book was just released so I suggest jumping on this bandwagon soon!
N - (The) Naming by Allison Croggon - I’m in the middle of rereading The Books of Pellinor series and I vividly remember now why they were the favorites of my High School years. Crogon writes in a simple elegance that must have been lovingly honed by years of reading Leguin and Tolkien. Another complex female protagonist in this one but written in 3rd person Omniscient (not fixed) narrative which is hard to find these days.
O - Once and Future King by T.H. White - I am an Arthur scholar and I will admit this is not my favorite Arthurian book (That’s Sword at Sunset by Rosmary Sutcliff). However, it is a necessary read for anyone who has interest in how modern fantasy came about in the US and the American obsession with King Arthur.
P - The Plucker by Brom - This is more of a graphic novel than a book. If you are a fan of Guillermo del Toro YOU WILL LOVE THIS. Imagine Toy Story except as a horror movie instead of playful animation. Brom is an exquisite illustrator and it’s worth it for the art alone.
Q - I have literally nothing for this one! Ah!
R - Runaways by Brian K Vaughan - This is a graphic novel series about a group of teenagers who mistakenly find out their parents are part of a super-villain society. Being a Marvel comic there are cameos by familiar goodies and badies and the series itself takes many surprising twists. Characters of color and female characters are prominent!
S - Seraphina by Rachel Hartman - Imagine if Dragons could take human form but were required by law to wear a bell to mark their otherness. Rather than set in a typical medieval setting, Seraphina takes place in a pseudo “classical” Europe setting with heavy emphasis on music. The characters and plot in this are flawless and I found it a refreshing, fun read.
T - To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - This is one of the few books I was required to read in High School that I actually enjoyed. There’s a lot to be said for this timeless classic but the fact that it still remains relevant is really all that needs to be.
U - Under the Black Flag by David Cordingly - Albeit I read this book back when pirates were much more a pop culture phenomenon than they are now. However, if you like history, and pirates this is a great read for notable and notorious seafarers.
V - V for Vendetta by Alan Moore - a graphic novel but truly a novel in its own right. I honestly prefer Watchmen but I feel Alan Moore is at his most Alan Moore-y in this one. No contest better than the movie.
W - Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K Leguin - The mythic style of these books can turn some modern readers off. Keeping with that there’s not as much character “development” as modern readers are used to. However, that being said these are some of the most compelling characters and books you will ever meet.
X - I came up dry on this one as well :(
Y - Y the Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan (Again!) - Imagine if all the men on earth died instantaneously except one slacker and his capuchin monkey. This graphic novel series could have gone way off the rails (as far as imagining what an all female dystopia would look like) yet Vaughan writes his female characters with a surprising nuance and depth.
Z - Zel by Donna Jo Napoli - I read this in elementary school and WHOOO BOY I don’t know who approved that one for children’s shelves but it is definitely a mature retelling of the Rapunzel fairytale. Distinctive voices and no making it less gruesome than the original here.

Forget Your Friends Does the TribeLA Musicians Acrostic Interview
California Newgaze.
T
Natalie Durkin (TribeLA Magazine): Give your band a Tagline.
Pony Curtis (guitar/vocals in Forget Your Friends): Down till we’re underground.
Charlie Kennedy (vocals/guitar in Forget Your Friends): Forget Your Friends, but don’t Forget About Us.
J. Peters (bass/backing vocals in Forget Your Friends): Heavy and hypnotic.
Adam Jackson (drums/samples in Forget Your Friends): California Newgaze.
R
ND: What got you started in music? What is the Reason you are where you are today?
PC: I got started in music when I was in middle school, my older brother had some friends in bands and I always thought it was so rad, once I started doing it for myself, I fell in love with it, there isn’t any other way to express myself that is as rewarding as grabbing a idea for a song out of the air and making it my own, I’m pretty much a junky for music
the whole band is.
CK: I actually moved to California in 2011 to pursue my dreams in creating music professionally when I met Pony and Jay at the studio for my audition to join the band and since recording “Antarctica” with Forget Your Friends, we’ve continued to progressively build our sound to bind the colors in our heads into music that we consider, Newgaze. Our hope and belief in the music we create together has kept us inspired because we each equally care deeply about our California Newgaze sound and want to offer a new style that music lovers can relate with.
JP: Hearing music for the first time and other bands. As soon as I got into music I knew that’s what I wanted to do. So I pursued it and haven’t looked back since.
AJ: I’ve always been heavily around music from an early age, started in school marching bands working my way up to touring the country
kind of a trip haha. [On the reason he is where he is today:]When I stopped telling myself ‘I can’t’.
I
ND: What effect (Influence) do you hope to have on us?
PC: I hope I can influence people to side step out of their box, check out of life’s busy [mess] for a while and just vibe out to some jams.
CK: I’m hoping that we can invite everyone to enjoy our sound as we don’t really fit in with any specific genre, but we would wish for a universal audience to be open to hearing what we’re bringing out in to the music world. We want to influence a certain common ground for everyone to have different reasons for liking us instead of catering to what is normally accepted by society and essentially, what is expected. We want to break the binds of tradition and reach out to everyone who may want or need a release from the real world, but who can still rock out in our dream world of aggression and nirvana.
JP: Hopefully positive and insightful.
AJ: I believe you have to see us first hand to understand that..
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVKlfUtBYmT/?taken-by=forgetyourfriends
B
ND: What do you do when you’re stuck (Blocked)?
PC: Time
if I force something it never comes out as rad as it would’ve if I would of just let it materialize naturally, I gotta check out sometimes and it’s always totally helpful, I play music ‘cuz I love it, so if I’m not feeling it I accept that and take a few off.
CK: I try to make a great escape from reality by letting my mind feel all of the pain and emotions that we sometimes hide from even ourselves. I’ve heard that if you’re having a hard time trying to remember something, the best thing to do is to think of something else. So I try and apply that to my writing, if I feel like nothing is coming naturally, I stop entirely and make a great escape, then come back to it with new inspiration.
JP: Take a break and walk away. Wait for the energy to return, it always does. You can’t force creativity.
AJ: I focus creative energy on other projects in between so if it’s music I’m having a creative block with I focus on filming/photography and vice versa.
E
ND: What fires you up and gives you Energy?
PC: The sun, I’m a sun sign so if I’m feeling [bad] I just go lay in the sun for a bit, it always recharges my energy for sure
.and passion tea no sugar extra ice from Starbucks.
CK: Life! Feeling alive and having HOPE gives me energy. I try to surround myself with positivity because sometimes I lose track of what life is supposed to mean, instead of just living in the moment where we should be inviting every opportunity that may come our way!
JP: Performing. There’s no feeling like taking the stage to fans who are waiting for you or discovering you for the first time.
AJ: My fans, most definitely.
L
ND: Can you share a Little known fact with us?
PC: Redheads cover only about 2% of the population.  If you’re like me, a blue-eyed redhead, then you only cover about 1%; making myself one of the rarest humans in the world
.so you’re welcome for knowing me.
CK: I was a Junior Olympian swimmer at one point in my life. And now I hate getting in pools all together.
JP: Ummmm. I’m allergic to apricots. If I look at one I’ll die.
AJ: Trumpet was the first instrument I started with as a child. I was a band geek!
A
ND: Where is your favorite place in Los Angeles? Where would you take visitors? If you could defend the city in one sentence to someone who doubts it, what would you say?
PC: One of the best parts about LA is the music shops & record stores, you can find any & everything & I know you can find anything online but hunting for a record or guitar in person is always much more satisfying! LA is basically the internet in real life, you can find whatever you want at just about anytime, you just gotta [work] to find it.
CK: I love this cafe called Happy Days Cafe because they’re open until 2am and make the best stuffed churros in the world where they have vegan and gluten free options!
JP: Definitely LACMA and probably a show at The Whisky A Go Go with a walk down Sunset to see the weirdness. And for any doubter I would say, “how can you doubt a city that dreams so big and wears so much leather.”
AJ: I think if I have any plans to take you anywhere, it would have to be to one of my favorite restaurants Lee’s Tofu. Not only is the food good but the waitresses are kinda rude, it’s great lol. LA offers so much importance from its diversity and culture so don’t knock it til you try it you feel me?
M
ND: Briefly chronicle your creative process. How do you like to Make art?
PC: Usually it’s morning or night, I can’t seem to catch inspiration mid day for some reason
but it always starts on my acoustic guitar, I will get random melodies and guitar ideas stuck in my head and kick em around with the band see if anything sticks.
CK: I love writing songs first on my acoustic guitar and even recording a tune that I’ve had in my head during the day and building from that. We all write together so it’s really fun when we each vibe on an idea and expand something that wasn’t really there expect for in our heads, into reality.
JP: Creativity is a hard thing to describe. I love hearing other artists speak about how they write their songs, most have the same answer, it just happens, you pick up your instrument and it happens.
AJ: To be honest I always love going in with no plan to my writing process. Whatever is happening naturally in that moment is what excites me. Most importantly believe in what you’re creating, always.
U
ND: What is coming Up?
PC: We have a new 4 track EP we are about to drop on oktoheart records this fall/winter it was recorded at Big Bad Sound in LA as well as Wormhole Studios in Canyon Country, CA. We had Alan Day from the band Four Year Strong fly out from Boston to produce it & Roman Marisak for engineering/mixing, we are so excited to share it with everyone!
CK: We are releasing an EP by the end of this summer that I couldn’t be more excited to share because the songs mean the world to us and I really feel like this is the sound we’ve heard in our heads for all these years of being a band together.
JP: A lot I’m sure, we never stop. We have an album coming out later this year, SPELLS, and we will be hitting the road soon to promote that.
AJ: Definitely some more music videos, new music for sure.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BaPbqS0Hc9S/?taken-by=forgetyourfriends
S
ND: Describe your Style – musically and otherwise.
PC: We are a California Newgaze band, our style is like Shoegaze grunge with a heavy alternative punk vibe
we feel like with our sound, we are in our own place stylistically, that’s one of the reasons we spell “Nu-Gaze” like “Newgaze” it’s not the traditional way people are used to seeing it, but we really love how the people that are into us totally get and understand the movement, we are pretty much the first band on Instagram to start tagging Newgaze
so we totally feel like it’s ours and the fans’ own little cult, most of our shows are with bands we don’t fit in with but we love it.
CK: We are Newgaze/California Newgaze which is a harder/darker tribute to shoegaze. My style is always all black everything, yet with some metallic or glitter to accompany: I feel like this also describes our sound haha.
JP: Musically, we are a grinding buzzsaw of mass distortion and spacey undertones. Heavy and hypnotic.
AJ: I really love when I hear different interpretations of how fans creatively perceive us. We’ve been told we sound like if Deftones and Slowdive had a baby
yep that pretty much sums it up haha.
I
ND: What is the best advice you’ve received and the best advice you can Impart on us?
PC: To not get caught up in outside expectations, set your own bar, success is what you make it, just do you.
CK: It’s simple, but the best advice that I go by is still to “Follow Your Heart,” and as hard as that is to do sometimes, it always keeps me in check and keeps me going.
JP: You only live once, take chances, so don’t look back and say “I wish I did that”. Just go out and do it.
AJ: ‘Don’t be an idiot’
 Changed my life.
C
ND: Any Closing words?
PC: Stay Gold.
CK: Winter is Coming.
JP: Thank you for the opportunity to answer these questions, some I’ve never even really asked myself.
AJ: Yes, we always love meeting new fans and existing fans so next time you see us at a show come say hi!!

Sue & Ian's "Lawful" Williams Barn Wedding
Sue & Ian's "Lawful" Williams Barn Wedding
Of all the San Diego wedding DJs calling America’s finest city home, Sue & Ian chose me to DJ and MC their “lawful” Williams Barn wedding on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The following write-up is based on San Diego DJ Staci’s crazy organized & detailed outline for this Williams Barn wedding in San Marcos.
THE WILLIAMS BARN WEDDING CEREMONY
Prelude ➔ Classical, Piano, Vitamin String Quartet, Movie Scores
Processional groom then bride ➔ “Rhapsody in Blue,” Leonard Bernstein (play from beginning)
Recessional ➔ “Rhapsody in Blue,” Leonard Bernstein (cue to 10:10)
  (c) San Diego DJ Staci, the Track Star
THE COCKTAIL HOUR & DINNER MUSIC
While San Diego DJ Staci offers couples pre-set cocktail & dinner playlists to choose from, Sue & Ian opted to use DJ Staci’s “Ultimate Big Band/Old Jazz/Swing Wedding Cocktail Hour Playlist” plus hand-select some of their own background music for their Williams Barn wedding in San Marcos.
Cocktail/Dinner Music ➔ Big Band/Old Jazz/Swing, Reggae, Post Modern Jukebox, “Say Hey I Love You” Michael Franti, “Chains of Love” Erasure, “Blinded by Science” Thomas Dolby, “Groove is in the Heart,” Shoop – Salt N Pepa
  THE WILLIAMS BARN WEDDING RECEPTION
My Welcome ➔ “Good evening! Welcome to Sue & Ian’s wedding reception!!! I am the Master of Ceremonies, DJ Staci. Please take your seats so we can officially welcome our guests of honor. If you need to charge your devices, I do have a mini charging station up here including some universal chargers.”
“This afternoon I’m going to be sharing a lot of stories about Sue &  Ian with you. To get rolling, lets tackle the first ‘I love you.’ They were at an evening event at the San Diego Zoo. The zoo was all decorated with Christmas lights. A few days earlier, Sue had sent Ian a mooshy Cole Porter song
she had worried that it might have been too much. But, there in front of the flamingos, Ian told Sue that he loved her for the first time. She said she loved him too
awwww. Ladies & gentlemen, are you ready to welcome our guests of honor?”
Grand Entrance
➔ “Rhapsody in Blue,” Leonard Bernstein (cued to 11:15) ➔  “They met in January 2014 when Sue was a short-term legal intern for the Family Law Facilitators office, while Ian was working in the business office. She was intrigued at first sight and kept trying to figure out how to get him to talk to her. A year and a half later, after little success, Sue returned to that same office as a law clerk. She was secretly thrilled to see Ian was still working there
but she still had no success turning his head.”
“Fast forward to Sues first attorney job—and she returned as often as possible to the facilitators office where Ian worked to file paperwork. She would make any excuse to drop paperwork off in hopes of getting to see him. Finally, they started making small talk, and Sue got Ian to tell her a little about himself. Then, at a certain notorious north county legal community Christmas party, Sue ran into Ian  they haven’t stopped talking since!”
“Together they enjoy escape rooms, street fairs, movies at Cinepolis, Balboa Park, riding bikes, museums, road trips, geeking out over obscure legal things, antiquing, looking at homes for sale with no intention of actually buying them, concerts, and plays. They are planning a honeymoon to ahu. And, as you may have guessed
one of their first big dates was to a concert where Rhapsody in Blue  was performed! Ladies &  gentlemen, get on your feet to welcome–for the FIRST TIME EVER–Sue and Ian B—-!!!”
➔ First Dance ➔ The Way I Am – Ingrid Michaelson ➔ fade early: no ➔  “On April 6, 2018, at Vintana restaurant in Escondido, two people who are very skeptical about marriage—to say the least—were enjoying a lovely dinner. After dinner, Ian made a little speech to Sue
and got down on one knee to ask her a very important question. She was thrilled! We know how she answered because we are about to welcome Sue and Ian to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.”
➔ Newlywed Brief Welcome/Thank You Speech ➔ yes
➔ Toasts ➔ pre-set champagne ➔ “Ladies & gentlemen, its time for the toasts. Please welcome our first speaker:”
➔ Father of the Groom, George
➔ Daughter of the Bride, Mad-ah-lynn
➔ Sister of the Bride, Kathy
➔ Sue’s father’s best friend, Carl
who was there when Sue’s parents first met
➔ Ian Parent Dance ➔ “At Last,” Etta James ➔ fade early: no ➔ “Ian says, ‘I admire my mom for her tenacity, high standards, and ethical integrity.’ Likewise, he remembers his dad throwing him across the pool when he was a little kid, screaming, ‘Its the Incredible Hulk!’ Ian remembers his dad bringing him to the office to play while he was working long hours. Now let’s welcome Ian & his mother, Ann, to the dance floor along with Sue & Ian’s dad, George.”
➔ Sue Family Dance ➔ “Moon River,” Andy Williams ➔ fade early: no ➔ “Neither of Sue’s parents are here with us today, but, in their honor, Sues children Alex, Robert, &  Mad-ah-lynn as well as her sister Kathy will honor their energy, humor, curiosity, and sense of the absurd with a special dance. On January 18, 1964, Sues parents danced to ‘Moon River’  at their wedding. Today we honor their song. This one is for Sue’s parents who loved adventures, laughter,  telling stories.”
➔ Group Photo on Dance Floor: yes
➔ Open Dancing
➔ Formal Cake Cutting ➔ Cake – “Love You Madly” ➔ “The newlyweds would like to present the first slice of wedding cake to friend of the family, Carl G.”
➔ Garter Removal ➔ “Brick House” – Commodores
➔ Garter Toss ➔ “Womanizer” – Britney Spears
