i read @skyloftian-nutcase's wonderful lovely healthcare au last night instead of sleeping and it really got my brain rolling on a modern au. except im very bad at au's so rn its in the batter phase. unsure if there will ever be a cake. it will likely still be raw in the middle if there is XD

current ideas:

time and malon own a ranch. twilight's a drifter looking after wild who takes a job as a ranch hand and the two of them end up adopted. wars is the son of the Wealthiest Business Man in town. he and wind are step siblings. ravio owns the gas station in town. legend begrudgingly works there. they are roommates (currently).

boarding school au?? time and malon are the house parents for a dormitory. room assignments are; wars and twi (seniors), hyrule and legend (sophomores), wild and sky (juniors), wind and four (freshmen). teenage angst abound lmao The Kids Are Not Alright

city au. wind and wars are step brothers, wars is looking after wind. wars' college bestie is twi who "adopted" wild. legend's a couch surfer though they dont mind putting him up at all. four lives down the hall from twi with his grandpa. idk where hyrule, sky, and time fit into this one

ANYWAY! idk that ill ever write these or anything. maybe a oneshot or quickfic here or there. who knows!! au stuff really isnt my strong suit. i already get worried about my fics being unfaithful to source property/doing characters wrong. and i guess all of these might be urban fantasy in some way?? they need more simmer time

With the new season I’ve been getting vibes of like. Kinda piratey but also very specifically an almost Indiana Jones nerdy/somewhat crime-y. Gem and Etho with a boat, going and doing archaeology and finding king lost treasure. Gem with a tattoo sleeve, confident and knowing the sea- while Etho is somewhat more nerdy, more meticulous- and maybe has some glasses (partially because of all the can you not see jokes during that first episode) just. Fun piratey adventures with cool and initially harmless seeming guys who can do cool stuff!!

Oooo yes, anon, I love this so much. Gem with a tattoo sleeve is so good. The mental image is perfect. What kind of tattoos would she have is the question. Would she go for purely aesthetic or would she go for something more meaningful. Maybe a mix of both? Something to dwell on.

I'm imaging Etho is an older adventurer who is well known and revered for all of his historical research and exploration. Gem is a relatively new adventure, but she's got a few years of solo work under her belt, and she's been on the sea for even longer than that working as an honest fisher or something like that.

Maybe fishing up treasure during one of her fishing trips spurred her into entering the adventurer's lifestyle.

Etho is more into it for the knowledge, so he's more thorough and worried about the little details. He's very careful with his planning but can still be very reckless when it comes down to it. He puts everything on the line for his research, even his own life.

Meanwhile Gem is more into it for the thrill of the adventure and the treasure. She's more carefree in nature, reckless by default. She is, however, better at knowing when to stop while she is ahead. She wants an adventure, an adrenaline rush; she doesn't want to end up dead because she did something really stupid.

I also think it is fun to imagine they are kind of like a reverse Indiana Jones duo, where they sometimes steal things from the government instead of working for them, which is where the "crime-y" part would probably come in XD

Still love that Hilbert met William Carter and knows that sometimes Cutter completely changes his name and appearance and may be functionally immortal and even once he's fully committed to helping the crew against Goddard he never brings it up. That's none of his business.

i love overthinking the mlp universe love and characters. anyway. twilight as a princess that does extensive research. she has books and books that shes written over things abt friendship. this is the prinvess who publishes the work she has and give public lectures. shes a public figure in her field.

when you read twilights work in equestria, she always credits spike. she credits every single source she uses in her research as the princess of friendship of course, but she also extensive credit to spike. she considers him a secondary author. all the work that she’s done has spike on the front. they are a packaged duo. please.

again and again i find myself lamenting that audio roleplay isn't taken more seriously by some people. like yeah, they often have a romantic element, and by nature they usually directly involve/address the listener- and i totally get that those things aren't to everyone's taste. no art or entertainment is universally appealing, and that's okay! but.. it still makes me a lil sad that the "cringe" reputation of asmr/audio rp precedes it. there's a whole lot of talent and creativity being poured into these audios by so many people that i feel goes unrecognized and/or disrespected simply due to the medium that the stories are being told through.
