Seeing the Beauty (Piper McLean x Fem!Jackson!Reader) - Chapter 14
Series Masterlist
Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Piper dreams she's back in Medea's department store. "Please let this be a dream," she mutters, "and not my eternal punishment."
"No, dear," says a woman's honey-sweet voice. "No punishment."
Piper turns, afraid she'd see Medea, but a different woman stands next to her, browsing through the fifty-percent-off rack.
The woman is gorgeous — shoulder-length hair, a graceful neck, perfect features, and an amazing figure tucked into jeans and a snowy white top.
Piper had seen her share of actresses — most of her dad's dates were knockout beautiful — but this lady is different. She's elegant without trying, fashionable without effort, stunning without makeup. After seeing Aeolus with his silly face-lifts and cosmetics, Piper thinks this woman looked even more astonishing. There's nothing artificial about her.
As Piper watches, the woman's appearance changes. Piper can't decide the color of her eyes, or the exact color of her hair. The woman becomes more and more beautiful, as if her image is aligning itself to Piper's thoughts — getting as close as possible to Piper's ideal of beauty.
"Aphrodite," Piper says. "Mom?"
The goddess smiles. "You're only dreaming, my sweet. If anyone wonders, I wasn't here. Okay?"
"I —" Piper wants to ask a thousand questions, but they all crowd together in her head.
Aphrodite holds up a turquoise dress. Piper thinks it looked awesome, but the goddess makes a face. "This isn't my color, is it? Pity, it's cute. Medea really does have some lovely things here."
"This — this building exploded," Piper stammers. "I saw it."
"Yes," Aphrodite agreed. "I suppose that's why everything's on sale. Just a memory, now." The goddess gestures around the department store. "You have other trials to face, my sweet. Medea will be back, along with many other enemies. The Doors of Death have opened."
"What do you mean?"
Aphrodite winks at her. "You're a smart one, Piper. You know."
A cold feeling settles over her. "The sleeping woman, the one Medea and Midas called their patron. She's managed to open a new entrance from the Underworld. She's letting the dead escape back into the world."
"Mmm. And not just any dead. The worst, the most powerful, the ones most likely to hate the gods."
"The monsters are coming back from Tartarus the same way," Piper guesses. "That's why they don't stay disintegrated."
"Yes, their patron, as you call her, has a special relationship with Tartarus, the spirit of the pit." Aphrodite holds up a gold sequined top. "No . . . this would make me look ridiculous."
Piper laughs uneasily. "You? You can't look anything but perfect."
"You're sweet," Aphrodite says. "But beauty is about finding the right fit, the most natural fit. To be perfect, you have to feel perfect about yourself — avoid trying to be something you're not. For a goddess, that's especially hard. We can change so easily."
"My dad thought you were perfect." Piper's voice quavers. "He never got over you."
Aphrodite's gaze becomes distant. "Yes . . . Tristan. Oh, he was amazing. So gentle and kind, funny and handsome. Yet he had so much sadness inside."
"Could we please not talk about him in the past tense?"
"I'm sorry, dear. I didn't want to leave your father, of course. It's always so hard, but it was for the best. If he had realized who I actually was —"
"Wait — he didn't know you were a goddess?"
"Of course not." Aphrodite sounds offended. "I wouldn't do that to him. For most mortals, that's simply too hard to accept. It can ruin their lives! Ask your friend Jason. His poor mother was destroyed when she found out she'd fallen in love with Zeus. No, it was much better Tristan believed that I was a mortal woman who left him without explanation. Better a bittersweet memory than an immortal, unattainable goddess. Which brings me to an important matter . . ." She opens her hand and shows Piper a glowing glass vial of pink liquid. "This is one of Medea's kinder mixtures. It erases only recent memories. When you save your father, if you can save him, you should give him this."
Piper can't believe what she was hearing. "You want me to dope my dad? You want me to make him forget what he's been through?"
Aphrodite holds up the vial. The liquid casts a pink glow over her face. "Your father acts confident, Piper, but he walks a fine line between two worlds. He's worked his whole life to deny the old stories about gods and spirits, yet he fears those stories might be real. He fears that he's shut off an important part of himself, and someday it will destroy him. Now he's been captured by a giant. He's living a nightmare. Even if he survives . . . if he has to spend the rest of his life with those memories, knowing that gods and spirits walk the earth, it will shatter him. That's what our enemy hopes for. She will break him, and thus break your spirit."
Piper wants to shout that Aphrodite was wrong. Her dad is the strongest person she knew. Piper would never take his memories the way Hera had taken (Y/n)'s.
But somehow she can't stay angry with Aphrodite. She remembers what her dad had said months ago, at the beach at Big Sur: If I really believed in Ghost Country, or animal spirits, or Greek gods . . . I don't think I could sleep at night. I'd always be looking for somebody to blame.
Now Piper wants someone to blame, too.
"Who is she?" Piper demands. "The one controlling the giants?"
Aphrodite purses her lips. She moves to the next rack, which holds battered armor and ripped togas, but Aphrodite looks through them as if they were designer outfits.
"You have a strong will," she muses. "I'm never given much credit among the gods. My children are laughed at. They're dismissed as conceited and shallow."
"Some of them are."
Aphrodite laughs. "Granted. Perhaps I'm conceited and shallow, too, sometimes. A girl has to indulge. Oh, this is nice." She picks up a burned and stained bronze breastplate and holds it up for Piper to see. "No?"
"No," Piper said. "Are you going to answer my question?"
"Patience, my sweet," the goddess says. "My point is that love is the most powerful motivator in the world. It spurs mortals to greatness. Their noblest, bravest acts are done for love."
Piper pulls out her dagger and studies its reflective blade. "Like Helen starting the Trojan War?"
"Ah, Katoptris." Aphrodite smiles. "I'm glad you found it. I get so much flack for that war, but honestly, Paris and Helen were a cute couple. And the heroes of that war are immortal now — at least in the memories of men. Love is powerful, Piper. It can bring even the gods to their knees. I told this to my son Aeneas when he escaped from Troy. He thought he had failed. He thought he was a loser! But he traveled to Italy —"
"And became the forebear of Rome."
"Exactly. You see, Piper, my children can be quite powerful. You can be quite powerful, because my lineage is unique. I am closer to the beginning of creation than any other Olympian."
Piper struggles to remember about Aphrodite's birth. "Didn't you . . . rise from the sea? Standing on a seashell?"
The goddess laughs. "That painter Botticelli had quite an imagination. I never stood on a seashell, thank you very much. But yes, I rose from the sea. The first beings to rise from Chaos were the Earth and Sky — Gaea and Ouranos. When their son, the Titan Kronos, killed Ouranos —"
"By chopping him to pieces with a scythe," Piper remembers.
Aphrodite wrinkles her nose. "Yes. The pieces of Ouranos fell into the sea. His immortal essence created seafoam. And from that foam —"
"You were born. I remember now. So you're —"
"The last child of Ouranos, who was greater than the gods or the Titans. So, in a strange way, I'm the eldest Olympian god. As I said, love is a powerful force. And you, my daughter, are much more than a pretty face. Which is why you already know who is waking the giants, and who has the power to open doors into the deepest parts of the earth." Aphrodite waits, as if she can sense Piper slowly putting together the pieces of a puzzle, which makes a dreadful picture.
"Gaea," Piper says. "The earth itself. That's our enemy."
She hopes Aphrodite would say no, but the goddess keeps her eyes on the rack of tattered armor. "She has slumbered for eons, but she is slowly waking. Even asleep, she is powerful, but once she wakes . . . we will be doomed. You must defeat the giants before that happens, and lull Gaea back into her slumber. Otherwise the rebellion has only begun. The dead will continue to rise. Monsters will regenerate with even greater speed. The giants will lay waste to the birthplace of the gods. And if they do that, all civilization will burn."
"But Gaea? Mother Earth?"
"Do not underestimate her," Aphrodite warns. "She is a cruel deity. She orchestrated Ouranos's death. She gave Kronos the sickle and urged him to kill his own father. While the Titans ruled the world, she slumbered in peace. But when the gods overthrew them, Gaea woke again in all her anger and gave birth to a new race — the giants — to destroy Olympus once and for all."
"And it's happening again," Piper says. "The rise of the giants."
Aphrodite nods. "Now you know. What will you do?"
"Me?" Piper clenches her fists. "What am I supposed to do? Put on a pretty dress and sweet-talk Gaea into going back to sleep?"
"I wish that would work," Aphrodite replies. "But no, you will have to find your own strengths, and fight for what you love. Like my favored ones, Helen and Paris. Like my son Aeneas."
"Helen and Paris died," Piper says.
"And Aeneas became a hero," the goddess counters. "The first great hero of Rome. The result will depend on you, Piper, but I will tell you this: The seven greatest demigods must be gathered to defeat the giants, and that effort will not succeed without you. When the two sides meet . . . you will be the mediator. You will determine whether there is friendship or bloodshed."
"What two sides?" Piper's vision begins to dim.
"You must wake soon, my child," says the goddess. "I do not always agree with Hera, but she's taken a bold risk, and I agree it must be done. Zeus has kept the two sides apart for too long. Only together will you have the power to save Olympus. Now, wake, and I hope you like the clothes I picked out."
"What clothes?" Piper demands, but the dream faded to black.
. . .
Piper wakes a table at a sidewalk café.
For a second, she thinks she's still dreaming. It's a sunny morning and the air is brisk but not unpleasant for sitting outside. At the other tables, a mix of bicyclists, business people, and college kids sit chatting and drinking coffee.
She can smell eucalyptus trees. Lots of foot traffic passes in front of quaint little shops. The street is lined with bottle-brush trees and blooming azaleas as though winter was a foreign concept.
In other words: they're in California.
Her friends sit in chairs around her — all of them with their hands calmly folded across their chests, dozing pleasantly. And they all have new clothes on. Piper looks down at her own outfit and gasps. "Mother!"
She yells louder than she meant. Jason flinches, bumping the table with his knees, and then all of them are awake.
"What?" Hedge demands. "Fight who? Where?"
"Falling!" Leo grabs the table. "No — not falling. Where are we?"
(Y/n) blinks, trying to get her bearings. She focuses on Piper and makes a little choking sound. "What are you wearing?"
Piper probably blushed. She's wearing the turquoise dress she'd seen in her dream, with black leggings and black leather boots. She had on her favorite silver charm bracelet, even though she'd left that back home in L.A., and her old snowboarding jacket from her dad, which amazingly goes with the outfit pretty well. She pulls out Katoptris, and judging from the reflection in the blade, she'd gotten her hair done, too.
"It's nothing," she says. "It's my —" She remembers Aphrodite's warning not to mention that they'd talked. "It's nothing."
Leo grins. "Aphrodite strikes again, huh? You're gonna be the best-dressed warrior in town, beauty queen."
"Hey, Leo." Jason nudges his arm. "You look at yourself recently?"
"What . . . oh."
All of them had been given a makeover. Leo was wearing pinstriped pants, black leather shoes, a white collarless shirt with suspenders, and his tool belt, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and a porkpie hat.
"God, Leo." Piper tries not to laugh. "I think my dad wore that to his last premiere, minus the tool belt."
"Hey, shut up!"
"I think he looks good," says Coach Hedge. "'Course, I look better."
The satyr is a pastel nightmare. Aphrodite had given him a baggy canary yellow zoot suit with two-tone shoes that fit over his hooves. He had a matching yellow broad-brimmed hat, a rose-colored shirt, a baby blue tie, and a blue carnation in his lapel, which Hedge sniffs and then eats.
Jason is wearing a baby blue collared, short sleeved dress shirt, tucked into khaki slacks, a pair of black dress shoes, and a navy blue tie.
"Well," (Y/n) says, "at least your mom overlooked me."
Piper knows that isn't exactly true. Looking at her, Piper's heart does a little tap dance. (Y/n) is dressed simply in black skinny jeans, a clean sea-green t-shirt, a black leather jacket. She has new track shoes on, her hair is newly trimmed, and she is wearing her bead necklace – four beads for four completed summers at camp, and on the necklace, is two wedding rings and Piper wonders if they're hers, or her parents. (Y/n)'s eyes are the same color as the sea in the distance. Aphrodite's message is clear: This one needs no improvement.
And Piper agrees.
"Anyway," she says uncomfortably, "how did we get here?"
"Oh, that would be Mellie," Hedge says, chewing happily on his carnation. "Those winds shot us halfway across the country, I'd guess. We would've been smashed flat on impact, but Mellie's last gift — a nice soft breeze — cushioned our fall."
"And she got fired for us," Leo says. "Man, we suck."
"Ah, she'll be fine," Hedge replies. "Besides, she couldn't help herself. I've got that effect on nymphs. I'll send her a message when we're through with this quest and help her figure something out. That is one aura I could settle down with and raise a herd of baby goats."
"I'm going to be sick," Piper fake gags. "Anyone else want coffee?"
"Coffee!" Hedge's grin was stained blue from the flower. "I love coffee!"
"Urn," Jason said, "but — money? Our packs?"
Piper looks down. Their packs are at their feet, and everything seems to still be there. She reaches into her coat pocket and feels two things she hadn't expected. One is a wad of cash. The other is a glass vial — the amnesia potion. She leaves the vial in her pocket and brings out the money.
Leo whistles. "Allowance? Piper, your mom rocks!"
"Waitress!" Hedge calls. "Six double espressos, and whatever these guys want. Put it on the girl's tab."
It doesn't take them long to figure out where they are. The menus say "Café Verve, Walnut Creek, CA." And according to the waitress, it is 9 a.m. on December 21, the winter solstice, which gives them three hours until Enceladus's deadline.
They don't have to wonder where Mount Diablo is, either. They can see it on the horizon, right at the end of the street. After the Rockies, Mount Diablo doesn't look very large, nor is it covered in snow. It seems downright peaceful, its golden creases marbled with gray-green trees. But size is deceptive with mountains, Piper knows. It's probably much bigger up close. And appearances are deceptive too. Here they are — back in California — supposedly her home — with sunny skies, mild weather, laid-back people, and a plate of chocolate chip scones with coffee. And only a few miles away, somewhere on that peaceful mountain, a super powerful, super-evil giant is about to have her father for lunch.
Leo pulls something out of his pocket — the old crayon drawing Aeolus had given him. Aphrodite must've thought it was important if she'd magically transferred it to his new outfit.
"What is that?" Piper asks.
Leo folds it up gingerly again and puts it away. "Nothing. You don't want to see my kindergarten artwork."
"It's more than that," Jason guesses. "Aeolus said it was the key to our success."
Leo shakes his head. "Not today. He was talking about . . . later."
"How can you be sure?" Piper asks.
"Trust me," Leo says. "Now — what's our game plan?"
Coach Hedge belches. He'd already had three espressos and a plate of doughnuts, along with two napkins and another flower from the vase on the table. He would've eaten the silverware, except Piper had slapped his hand.
"Climb the mountain," Hedge says. "Kill everything except Piper's dad. Leave."
"Thank you, General Eisenhower," Jason grumbles.
"Hey, I'm just saying!"
"Guys," Piper says. "There's more you need to know."
It's tricky, because she can't mention her mom; but she tells them she'd figured some things out in her dreams. She tells them about their real enemy: Gaea.
"Gaea?" Leo shakes his head. "Isn't that Mother Nature? She's supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry."
"Leo, that's Snow White," Piper looks amused.
"Okay, but —"
"Listen, cupcake." Coach Hedge dabs the espresso out of his goatee. "Piper's telling us some serious stuff, here. Gaea's no softie. I'm not even sure I could take her."
Leo whistles. "Really?"
Hedge nods. "This earth lady – she and her old man the sky were nasty customers."
"Ouranos," Piper says. She can't help looking up at the blue sky, wondering if it has eyes.
"Right," Hedge says. "So Ouranos, he's not the best dad. He throws their first kids, the Cyclopes, into Tartarus. That makes Gaea mad, but she bides her time. Then they have another set of kids — the twelve Titans — and Gaea is afraid they'll get thrown into prison too. So she goes up to her son Kronos —"
"The big bad dude," Leo said. "The one they defeated last summer."
(Y/n) lets out an annoyed grumble, and Piper wonders if she'd remembered anything else – Piper makes a mental note to ask her about it later. Well, Piper's brain betrays her, if we live long enough for me to ask.
"Right. And Gaea's the one who gives him the scythe, and tells him, 'Hey, why don't I call your dad down here? And while he's talking to me, distracted, you can cut him to pieces. Then you can take over the world. Wouldn't that be great?"'
Nobody says anything. Piper's chocolate chip scone doesn't look so appetizing anymore. Even though she'd heard the story before, she still can't quite get her mind around it. She tries to imagine a kid so messed up, he would kill his own dad just for power. Then she imagines a mom so messed up, she would convince her son to do it.
"Definitely not Snow White," she decides.
"Nah, Kronos was a bad guy," Hedge agrees. "But Gaea is literally the mother of all bad guys. She's so old and powerful, so huge, that it's hard for her to be fully conscious. Most of the time, she sleeps, and that's the way we like her — snoring.''
"But she talked to me," Leo says. "How can she be asleep?"
Gleeson brushes crumbs off his canary yellow lapel. He's on his sixth espresso now, and his pupils are as big as quarters. "Even in her sleep, part of her consciousness is active — dreaming, keeping watch, doing little things like causing volcanoes to explode and monsters to rise. Even now, she's not fully awake. Believe me, you don't want to see her fully awake."
"But she's getting more powerful," Piper adds. "She's causing the giants to rise. And if their king comes back—this guy Porphyrion —"
"He'll raise an army to destroy the gods," Jason puts in. "Starting with Hera. It'll be another war. And Gaea will wake up fully."
Gleeson nods. "Which is why it's a good idea for us to stay off the ground as much as possible."
Leo looks warily at Mount Diablo. "So . . . climbing a mountain. That would be bad."
Piper's heart sinks. First, she'd been asked to betray her friends. Now they are trying to help her rescue her dad even though they know they are walking into a trap. The idea of fighting a giant had been scary enough. But the idea that Gaea is behind it — a force more powerful than a god or Titan . . .
"Guys, I can't ask you to do this," Piper says. "This is too dangerous."
"You kidding?" Gleeson belches and shows them his blue carnation smile. "Who's ready to beat stuff up?"
. . .
Leo had hoped the taxi could get them all the way to the top.
No such luck. The cab makes lurching, grinding sounds as it climbs the mountain road, and halfway up they find the ranger's station closed, a chain blocking the way.
"Far as I can go," the cabbie says. "You sure about this? Gonna be a long walk back, and my car's acting funny. I can't wait for you."
"We're sure." Leo is the first one out. He has a bad feeling about what is wrong with the cab, and when he looks down he sees he was right. The wheels are sinking into the road like it is made of quicksand. Not fast — just enough to make the driver think he had a transmission problem or a bad axle — but Leo knows different.
The road is hard-packed dirt. No reason at all it should have been soft, but already Leo's shoes are starting to sink. Gaea is messing with them.
While his friends get out, Leo pays the cabbie. He's generous — heck, why not? It was Aphrodite's money. Plus, he has a feeling he might never be coming off this mountain.
"Keep the change," he says. "And get out of here. Quick."
The driver doesn't argue. Soon all they can see is his dust trail.
The view from the mountain is pretty amazing. The whole inland valley around Mount Diablo is a patchwork of towns — grids of tree-lined streets and nice middle-class suburbs, shops, and schools. All these normal people living normal lives—the kind Leo had never known.
"That's Concord," Jason says, pointing to the north. "Walnut Creek below us. To the south, Danville, past those hills. And that way . . ."
He points west, where a ridge of golden hills holds back a layer of fog, like the rim of a bowl. "That's the Berkeley Hills. The East Bay. Past that, San Francisco."
"Jason?" Piper looks at the son of Zeus. "You remember something? You've been here?"
"Yes . . . no." He gave her an anguished look. "It just seems important."
"That's Titan land." Coach Hedge nods towards the west. "Bad place, Jason. Trust me, this is as close to 'Frisco as we want to get."
But Jason looks towards the foggy basin with such longing that Leo feels uneasy. Why did Jason seem so connected with that place — a place Hedge said was evil, full of bad magic and old enemies? What if Jason came from here? Everybody kept hinting Jason is an enemy, that his arrival at Camp Half-Blood was a dangerous mistake.
No, Leo thinks. Ridiculous. Jason was their friend.
Leo tries to move his foot, but his heels are now completely embedded in the dirt. "Hey, guys," he says. "Let's keep moving."
The others notice the problem.
"Gaea is stronger here," Hedge grumbles. He pops his hooves free from his shoes, then hands the shoes to Leo. "Keep those for me, Valdez. They're nice."
Leo snorts. "Yes, Coach. Would you like them polished?"
"That's varsity thinking, Valdez." Hedge nods approvingly. "But first, we'd better hike up this mountain while we still can."
"How do we know where the giant is?" Piper asks.
(Y/n) points towards the peak. Drifting across the summit is a plume of smoke. From a distance, Leo had thought it was a cloud, but it wasn't. Something is burning.
"Smoke equals fire," Jason agrees. "We'd better hurry."
The Wilderness School had taken Leo on several forced marches. He thought he was in good shape. But climbing a mountain when the earth is trying to swallow his feet is like jogging on a flypaper treadmill.
In no time, Leo had rolled up the sleeves on his collarless shirt, even though the wind is cold and sharp. He wishes Aphrodite had given him walking shorts and some more comfortable shoes, but he is grateful for the Ray-Bans that keep the sun out of his eyes. He slips his hands into his tool belt and starts summoning supplies — gears, a tiny wrench, some strips of bronze. As he walks, he builds — not really thinking about it, just fiddling with pieces.
By the time they near the crest of the mountain, Leo is the most fashionably dressed sweaty, dirty hero ever. His hands are covered in machine grease.
The little object he'd made is like a windup toy — the kind that rattles and walks across a coffee table. He isn't sure what it could do, but he slips it into his tool belt.
He misses his army coat with all its pockets. Even more than that, he misses Festus. He could use a fire-breathing bronze dragon right now. But Leo knows Festus would not be coming back — at least, not in his old form.
Finally Jason crouches behind a wall of rock. He gestures for the others to do the same. Leo crawls up next to him. Piper has to pull Coach Hedge down.
"I don't want to get my outfit dirty!" Hedge complains.
"Shh!" Piper says.
Reluctantly, the satyr kneels.
Just over the ridge where they are hiding, in the shadow of the mountain's final crest, is a forested depression about the size of a football field, where the giant Enceladus had set up camp.
Trees had been cut down to make a towering purple bonfire. The outer rim of the clearing is littered with extra logs and construction equipment — an earthmover; a big crane thing with rotating blades at the end like an electric shaver — must be a tree harvester, Leo thinks — and a long metal column with an ax blade, like a sideways guillotine — a hydraulic ax. A lake sits about fifty feet to the right of the bonfire.
Why a giant needs construction equipment, Leo isn't sure. He doesn't see how the creature in front of him could even fit in the driver's seat. The giant Enceladus is so large, so horrible, Leo doesn't want to look at him.
But he forces himself to focus on the monster.
To start with, he is thirty feet tall — easily as tall as the treetops. Leo is sure the giant could've seen them behind their ridge, but he seems intent on the weird purple bonfire, circling it and chanting under his breath. From the waist up, the giant appears humanoid, his muscular chest clad in bronze armor, decorated with flame designs. His arms are completely ripped. Each of his biceps are bigger than Leo. His skin is bronze but sooty with ash. His face is crudely shaped, like a half-finished clay figure, but his eyes glow white, and his hair is matted in shaggy dreadlocks down to his shoulders, braided with bones.
From the waist down, he is even more terrifying. His legs are scaly green, with claws instead of feet — like the forelegs of a dragon. In his hand, Enceladus hold a spear the size of a flagpole. Every so often he dips its tip in the fire, turning the metal molten red.
"Okay," Coach Hedge whispers. "Here's the plan —"
Leo elbows him. "You're not charging him alone!"
"Aw, c'mon."
Piper chokes back a sob. "Look." Just visible on the other side of the bonfire is a man tied to a post. His head slumped like he was unconscious, so (Y/n) couldn't make out his face, but Piper doesn't seem to have any doubts. "Dad," she says.
Leo swallows. He wishes this was a Tristan McLean movie. Then Piper's dad would be faking unconsciousness. He'd untie his bonds and knock out the giant with some cleverly hidden anti-giant gas. Heroic music would start to play, and Tristan McLean would make his amazing escape, running away in slow motion while the mountainside exploded behind him.
But this wasn't a movie. Tristan McLean is half dead and about to be eaten. The only people who can stop it — four fashionably dressed teenaged demigods and a megalomaniac goat.
"There's four of us," Hedge whispers urgently. "And only one of him."
"Did you miss the fact that he's thirty feet tall?" Leo asks.
"Okay," Hedge asks. "So you, me, (Y/n), and Jason distract him. Piper sneaks around and frees her dad."
They all look at Jason.
"What?" Jason asks. "I'm not the leader."
"Yes," Piper replies. "you are."
They'd never really talked about it, but no one disagrees, not even Hedge, and not (Y/n), who could've pulled the 'I've been at camp longer' card or the 'I was offered immortality by the gods' card. Coming this far had been a team effort, but when it comes to a life-and-death decision, Leo knew Jason is the one to ask. Even if he has no memory, Jason has a kind of balance to him. He can just tell Jason been in battles before, and he knows how to keep his cool. Leo wasn't exactly the trusting type, but he trusts Jason with his life.
"I hate to say it," Jason sighs, "but Coach Hedge is right. A distraction is Piper's best chance."
Not a good chance, Leo thought. Not even a survivable chance. Just their best chance.
They can't sit there all day and talk about it, though. It has to be close to noon — the giant's deadline — and the ground is still trying to pull them down. Leo's knees had already sunk two inches into the dirt.
Leo looks at the construction equipment and gets a crazy idea. He brings out the little toy he'd made on the climb, and he realizes what it can do — if he's lucky, which he almost never is. "Let's boogie," he says. "Before I come to my senses."
. . .
Piper scrambles along the ridge, trying to keep her head down, while Leo, Jason, (Y/n), and Coach Hedge walk straight into the clearing.
(Y/n) and Jason summon their magic weapons – Jason's coming up as a lance. (Y/n) brandishes her sword over her head and yells, "Giant!" which sounds pretty good and a lot more confident than Leo could've managed. He is thinking more along the lines of "We are pathetic ants! Don't kill us!"
Enceladus stops chanting at the flames. He turns towards them and grins, revealing fangs like a saber-toothed tiger's.
"Well," the giant rumbles, "What a nice surprise."
(Y/n) doesn't like the sound of that; Leo's hand closes on his windup gadget. He steps sideways, edging his way towards the bulldozer.
Coach Hedge shouts. "Let the movie star go, you big ugly cupcake! Or I'm gonna plant my hoof right up you –"
"Coach," Jason deadpans. "Shut up."
Enceladus roars with laughter. "I've forgotten how funny satyrs are. When we rule the world, I think I'll keep your kind around. You can entertain me while I eat all the other mortals."
"Is that a compliment?" Hedge frowns at Leo. "I don't think that was a compliment."
Enceladus opens his mouth wide, and his teeth begin to glow.
"Scatter!" Leo yells.
Jason, (Y/n), and Hedge dive to the left as the giant blows fire — a furnace blast so hot even Festus would've been jealous. Leo dodges behind the bulldozer, winds up his homemade device, and drops it into the driver's seat. Then he runs to the right, heading for the tree harvester.
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Jason and (Y/n) rise in unison and charge the giant. Coach Hedge rips off his canary yellow jacket, which is now on fire, and bleats angrily. "I liked that outfit!" Then he raises his club and charges, too.
Before they can get very far, Enceladus slams his spear against the ground. The entire mountain shakes.
The shockwave sends Leo sprawling. He blinks, momentarily stunned. Through a haze of grassfire and bitter smoke, he sees (Y/n) and Jason staggering to their feet on the other side of the clearing. Coach Hedge was knocked out cold. He'd fallen forward and hit his head on a log. His furry hindquarters sticking straight up, with his canary yellow pants around his knees — a view Leo really doesn't need.
The giant bellows, "I see you, Piper McLean!" He turns and blows fire at a line of bushes to Leo's right. Piper runs into the clearing like a flushed quail, the underbrush burning behind her.
Enceladus laughs. "I'm happy you've arrived. And you brought me my prizes!"
Leo's gut twists. This is the moment Piper had warned them about. They'd played right into Enceladus's hands.
The giant must've read Leo's expression, because he laughs even louder. "That's right, son of Hephaestus. I didn't expect you all to stay alive this long, but it doesn't matter. By bringing you here, Piper McLean has sealed the deal. If she betrays you, I'm as good as my word. She can take her father and go. What do I care about a movie star?"
Leo can see Piper's dad more clearly now. He wears a ragged dress shirt and torn slacks. His bare feet are caked with mud. He isn't completely unconscious, because he lifts his head and groans — yep, Tristan McLean all right. Leo had seen that face in enough movies. But he has a nasty cut down the side of his face, and he looks thin and sickly — not heroic at all.
"Dad!" Piper yells.
Mr. McLean blinks, trying to focus. "Pipes . . .? Where . . ."
Piper dares her dagger and faces Enceladus. "Let him go!"
"Of course, dear," the giant rumbles. "Swear your loyalty to me, and we have no problem. Only these others must die."
Piper looks back and forth between Leo and her dad.
"He'll kill you," Leo warns. "Don't trust him!"
"Oh, come now," Enceladus bellows. "You know I was born to fight Athena herself? Mother Gaea made each of us giants with a specific purpose, designed to fight and destroy a particular god. I was Athena's nemesis, the anti-Athena, you might say. Compared to some of my brethren – I am small! But I am clever. And I keep my bargain with you, Piper McLean. It's part of my plan!"
(Y/n) is on her feet now, sword ready; but before she can act, Enceladus roars — a call so loud it echoes down the valley and is probably heard all the way to San Francisco.
At the edge of the woods, half a dozen ogre-like creatures rise up. Leo realizes with nauseating certainty that they hadn't simply been hiding there. They'd risen straight out of the earth.
The ogres shuffle forward. They are small compared to Enceladus, about seven feet tall. Each one of them has six arms — one pair in the regular spot, then an extra pair sprouting out the top of their shoulders, and another set shooting from the sides of their rib cages. They wear only ragged leather loincloths, and even across the clearing, Leo can smell them. Six guys who never bathe, with six armpits each. Leo decides if he survives this day, he'd have to take a three-hour shower just to forget the stench.
"What the hell are those?" (Y/n) asks.
Piper's blade reflects the purple light of the bonfire. "Gegenees."
"In English?" Leo questions.
"The Earthborn," Piper replies. "Six-armed giants who fought Jason — the first Jason."
"Very good, my dear!" Enceladus sounds delighted. "They used to live on a miserable place in Greece called Bear Mountain. Mount Diablo is much nicer! They are lesser children of Mother Earth, but they serve their purpose. They're good with construction equipment —"
"Vroom, vroom!" one of the Earthborn bellows, and the others take up the chant, each moving his six hands as though driving a car, as if it were some kind of weird religious ritual. "Vroom, vroom!"
"Yes, thank you, boys," Enceladus says. "They also have a score to settle with heroes. Especially anyone named Jason."
"Yay-son!" the Earthborn screams. They all pick up clumps of earth, which solidify in their hands, turning to nasty pointed stones. "Where Yay- son? Kill Yay-son!"
Enceladus smiles. "You see, Piper, you have a choice. Save your father, or ah, try to save your friends and face certain death."
Piper steps forward, her eyes blazing with such rage, even the Earthborn back away. She radiates power and beauty, but it has nothing to do with her clothes or makeup. "You will not take the people I love," she says. "None of them." Her words ripple across the clearing with such force, the Earthborn mutter, "Okay, okay, sorry," and begin to retreat.
"Stand your ground, fools!" Enceladus bellows. He snarls at Piper. "This is why we wanted you alive, my dear. You could have been so useful to us. But as you wish. Earthborn! I will show you Jason."
Leo's heart sinks, but the giant doesn't point to Jason. He points to the other side of the bonfire, where Tristan McLean hangs helpless and half-conscious.
"There is Jason," Enceladus says with pleasure. "Tear him apart!"
The biggest surprise: one look from Jason, and all four of them know the game plan. When had that happened, that they can read each other so well?
(Y/n) and Jason charge Enceladus, while Piper rushes towards her father, and Leo dashes for the tree harvester, which stood between Mr. McLean and the Earthborn.
(Y/n)'s instincts kick in, and her gut tells her she'd dueled opponents almost this big before. Size and strength equaled slowness, so (Y/n) just has to be quicker – pace herself, wear out her opponent, and avoid getting smashes or flame-broiled.
(Y/n) rolls away from the giant's first spear thrust and jabs Enceladus in the ankle. Jason's javelin manages to pierce the giant's hyde on the other ankle, and golden ichor – the blood of immortals – trickle down the giant's clawed feet.
Enceladus bellows in pain and blasts (Y/n) with fire. She scrambles away, rolling behind the giant, and strikes again behind his knee.
It goes on like that for seconds, minutes — it was hard to judge. (Y/n) hears combat across the clearing — construction equipment grinding, fire roaring, monsters shouting, and rocks smashing into metal. She hears Leo and Piper yelling defiantly, which meant they were still alive. (Y/n) tries not to think about it. She can't afford to get distracted.
Enceladus's spear misses her by a millimeter. (Y/n) keeps dodging, but the ground stuck to her feet. Gaea is getting stronger, and the giant is getting faster. Enceladus might be slow, but he isn't dumb. He begins anticipating (Y/n)'s and Jason's moves, and they're attacks are only annoying him, making him more enraged.
"I'm not some minor monster," Enceladus bellows. "I am a giant, born to destroy gods! You're little toothpick can't hurt me!"
Neither (Y/n) or Jason waste energy replying. Jason is already tired. The ground clings to his feet, making him feel like he weighed an extra hundred pounds. The air is full of smoke that burned his lungs. Fires roars around him, stoked by the winds, and the temperature is approaching the heat of an oven.
Jason raises his javelin to block the giant's next strike — a big mistake. Don't fight force with force, a voice chides him — the wolf Lupa, who'd told him that long ago. He manages to deflect the spear, but it grazes his shoulder, and his arm goes numb. He backs up, almost tripping over a burning log. He has to delay — to keep the giant's attention fixed on him while his friends deal with the Earthborn and rescue Piper's dad. He can't fail. He retreats, trying to lure the giant to the edge of the clearing. Enceladus can sense his weariness. The giant smiles, baring his fangs.
"The mighty Jason Grace," he taunts. "Yes, we know about you, son of Jupiter. The one who led the assault on Mount Othrys. The one who single-handedly slew the Titan Krios and toppled the black throne."
Jason's mind reels. He doesn't know these names, yet they makes his skin tingle, as if his body remembers the pain his mind doesn't.
"What are you talking about?" he asks. He realizes his mistake when Enceladus breathes fire.
Distracted, Jason moves too slowly. The blast misses him, but heat blisters his back. He slams into the ground, his clothes smoldering. He is blinded from ash and smoke, choking as he tries to breathe.
He scrambles back as the giant's spear cleaves the ground between his feet.
Jason manages to stand.
(Y/n) moves in front of Jason, and Jason can feel the power radiating off her.
"Ah, the sea god's brat!" Enceladus bellows.
"Piece of shit," (Y/n) replies, and she charges the giant on her own.
Jason can only watch, his body dragging with exhaustion, as (Y/n) advances on the giant.
A lake about fifty feet to (Y/n)'s right explodes, dousing the bonfire, and putting it out, making the clearing darker, and suddenly, Leo, Jason, and Piper feel a strength wash over them as water laps at their shoes.
(Y/n) dodges the first strike, and then stabs the giant in the kneecap, and then jumps off her sword, ripping it out of the giant's knee and scrambles up and stabs him in the ear.
Enceladus lets out a roar so loud, it distracts Piper from her dad. She stares at (Y/n) atop the giant's shoulder, watching as (Y/n) stabs her sword into his neck.
Jason takes a deep breath and charges.
Enceladus shakes (Y/n) off and she rolls, landing on her feet, though she staggers with the momentum.
Jason fakes a strike and rolls between the giant's legs. He comes up quickly, thrusting with all his might, ready to stab the giant in the small of his back, but Enceladus anticipates the trick. He steps aside with too much speed and agility for a giant, as if the earth is helping him move.
He sweeps his spear sideways, meets Jason's javelin – and with a snap like a shotgun blast, the golden weapon shatters.
The force knocks (Y/n) off her feet and squeezes the breath out of her chest.
When she regains her focus, she and Jason are sitting side by side at the rim of a crater. Enceladus stands at the other side, staggering and confused. The javelin's destruction had released so much energy, it had blasted a perfect cone-shaped pit thirty feet deep, fusing the dirt and rock into a slick glassy substance.
Neither Jason or (Y/n) are sure how they'd survived, but their clothes are steaming. Both demigods are out of energy, and Tsunami had skittered across the clearing at Leo's feet.
Both demigods try to get to their feet, but their legs are like lead. Enceladus blinks at the destruction and laughs, "Impressive! Unfortunately, those were your last tricks, demigods.
Enceladus leaps the crater in a single bound, planting his feet on either sides of the demigods. The giant raises his spear, its tip hovering six feet over (Y/n)'s chest.
"And now," Enceladus laughs, "my first sacrifices to Gaea!"
. . .
Time seems to slow down, which was really frustrating since (Y/n) still can't move. She feels herself sinking into the earth like the ground is a waterbed – comfortable, urging her to relax.
(Y/n) can't feel her arms. She can see the tip of the spear coming towards her chest in slow motion. She knows she should move, but she can't. Funny, she thinks. All that effort to stay alive, and then, boom. I'll just lie here helplessly while a fire-breathing giant impales me.
Leo's voice yells, "Heads up!"
A large black metal wedge slammed into Enceladus with a massive thunk! The giant toppled over and slid into the pit.
"Jason, (Y/n), get up!" Piper calls. Her voice energizes (Y/n), shaking her out of her stupor. She sits up, her head groggy, while Piper grabs her under his arms and hauls her to his feet. And then Leo grabs Jason.
"Don't die on me," Piper orders. "You are not dying on me."
"Yes, ma'am." (Y/n) feels light-headed, but Piper is about the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. Her hair is smoldering, and her face is smudged with soot. She has a cut on her arm, her dress is torn, and she is missing a boot. Beautiful.
(Y/n) looks down in the crater and sees Enceladus struggling to rise, an ax blade the size of a washing machine stuck in his breastplate.
Amazingly, the giant manages to pull the ax blade free. He yells in pain and the mountain trembles. Golden ichor soaked the front of his armor, but Enceladus stands.
Shakily, he bends down and retrieves his spear.
"Good try." The giant winced. "But I cannot be beaten."
As they watch, the giant's armor mends itself, and the ichor stops flowing. Even the cuts on his dragon-scale legs, which Jason and (Y/n) had worked so hard to make, are now just pale scars.
Leo curses. "What is it with this guy? Die, already!"
"My fate is preordained," Enceladus says. "Giants cannot be killed by gods or heroes."
"Only by both," Jason says. The giant's smile falters, and Jason sees in his eyes something like fear. "It's true, isn't it? Gods and demigods have to work together to kill you."
"You will not live long enough to try!" The giant starts stumbling up the crater's slope, slipping on the glassy sides.
"Anyone have a god handy?" Leo asks.
Jason's heart fills with dread. He looks at the giant below them, struggling to get out of the pit, and he knows what has to happen. "Leo," he says, "if you've got a rope in that tool belt, get it ready." He leaps at the giant with no weapon but his bare hands.
"Enceladus!" Piper yells. "Look behind you!"
It's an obvious trick, but her voice is so compelling, even Jason buys it. The giant says, "What?" and turns like there is an enormous spider on his back.
Jason tackles his legs at just the right moment. The giant loses his balance. Enceladus slams into the crater and slides to the bottom. While he tries to rise, Jason puts his arms around the giant's neck. When Enceladus struggles to his feet, Jason is riding his shoulders.
"Get off!" Enceladus screams. He tries to grab Jason's legs, but Jason scrambles around, squirming and climbing over the giant's hair.
Father, Jason thought. If I've ever done anything good, anything you approved of, help me now I offer my own life — just save my friends.
Suddenly he can smell the metallic scent of a storm. Darkness swallows the sun. The giant freezes, sensing it too.
Jason says to his friends, "Hit the deck!"
And every hair on his head stands straight up.
Crack!
Lightning surges through Jason's body, straight through Enceladus, and into the ground. The giant's back stiffens, and Jason is thrown clear. When he regains his bearings, he is slipping down the side of the crater, and the crater is cracking open. The lightning bolt had split the mountain itself. The earth rumbles and tears apart, and Enceladus's legs slide into the chasm. He claws helplessly at the glassy sides of the pit, and just for a moment manages to hold on to the edge, his hands trembling.
He fixes Jason with a look of hatred. "You've won nothing, boy. My brothers are rising, and they are ten times as strong as I. We will destroy the gods at their roots! You will die, and Olympus will die with —"
The giant loses his grip and falls into the crevice.
The earth shakes. Jason falls toward the rift.
"Grab hold!" Leo yells.
Jason's feet are at the edge of the chasm when he grabs the rope, and Leo, (Y/n), and Piper pull him up.
They stand together, exhausted and terrified, as the chasm closes like an angry mouth. The ground stops pulling at their feet.
For now, Gaea is gone.

Okay, let's get one thing straight. You loved Eddie. That was a given. You loved the way he laughed and smiled at you and every little thing about him. He is so kind, caring, and sweet, that no words could describe the depth of your feelings toward him. But, in the midst of all this lovey-dovey stuff, one particular thought had continued to plague you over the months almost year; you wanted to touch Eddie's hair.
Eddie's hair was majestic. Like a lion's mane, thick and beautiful. Every morning it would gleam and sparkle as if a million tiny stars had shone through it. It was perfect and it fascinated you. You wanted to know if it was as soft as you imagined it was. Of course, you've had your chance to touch it, during the many kisses the two of you shared, but you were respectful. You never touched his hair unless he asked you to. You had seen that he was protective of his hair, not even letting that Henderson kid touch it.
But, as you were trying to do your homework, you just couldn't concentrate. You blamed yourself more than Eddie. Resting your hand on your cheek, you stared at the back of Eddie's head as he sat on the ground in front of your bed. Resting on your stomach, you kicked your feet in the air as you daydreamed about your wonderful boyfriend's hair. Eddie looked up from his work and turned around, noticing how absentminded you appeared. He chuckled under his breath.
"What's got you so distracted?" His brown eyes glistened and sparkled like the sun itself. He was so gorgeous when he smiled. Eddie knew what the answer was, he had caught you gazing at him many times before, but he enjoyed watching your expressions change.
"I dunno," You mumbled softly, looking away and smiling bashfully, "Probably you."
Eddie raised an eyebrow, a smirk overtaking him. "Of course, I'm irresistible." Eddie teased, making you lean over and push his shoulder. He laughed as he went back to his work and you lay there behind him, playing with the edges of your notebook pages.
"No wonder girls swoon all over you." You joked, Eddie glanced down at you and smirked again.
"Oh yeah? What makes you say that?" He teased, putting the book down and turning around so he could face you.
You grinned at him as your cheeks flushed, eyes raking over his features.
"Well, for starters, you’re you. You have long curly locks and amazing skin. You wear awesome clothes and can play the guitar. Plus you're handsome as hell." You said, staring into his brown eyes. Eddie blushed, taking a moment to appreciate your praise. You weren't wrong. He did have a very attractive appearance. "Not to mention, you're passionate, caring, and loving. No matter how much people try to convince you otherwise, you really are an overall amazing person." You sighed dreamily.
"Aw, thanks, babe." Eddie gave you a warm smile, reaching up to caress your cheek with his knuckles. Your face warmed up even more as a smile graced your lips.
"Don't mention it."
Eddie gently trailed his hand down your cheek, his thumb brushing against your bottom lip softly. The pair of you held each other's gaze for a moment, neither one willing to make the first move.
Eventually, Eddie leaned in closer until his lips were only inches away from yours. A sudden knock interrupted the two of you, causing you both to jump away from each other. You felt guilty as Eddie's expression darkened.
"Come in." You called out, still slightly annoyed.
Your mom peeked her head inside, giving you a sympathetic look. "Hi, dear. Sorry to interrupt, but I just finished dinner. It's ready when you two are." She apologized. Before either of you could respond, she shut the door and walked away. Eddie sighed, running a hand through his messy hair.
"Well, guess we should go eat..." He whispered, kissing your forehead quickly before standing and helping you off the bed.
You nodded, taking his hand in yours, "Yeah, don't want to miss out on my mom's famous spaghetti." Eddie chuckled, squeezing your hand in his.
The two of you made your way downstairs to join everyone else at the table. While Eddie helped set the table, you stayed close by his side, occasionally stealing glances at him as he worked. When he finally noticed the attention you were giving him, he turned around, raising an eyebrow.
"What?" He asked, a playful grin on his face.
"Nothing." You replied, shaking your head.
He rolled his eyes, returning to set the table. Once everything was set, you both took your seats next to each other. Everyone began eating their food, chatting amongst themselves. You listened intently, body eating while your mind was elsewhere, thinking about Eddie's hair. As you thought, you paused. Were you weird? I mean, did other partners in relationships daydream about their partner's hair? You shook your head, clearing your thoughts, and focused your attention back on the conversation.
You tried to focus on listening, but it wasn't working. You kept picturing Eddie's gorgeous hair and you wondered what it would feel like tangled in your fingers as you ran your hands through it. You wanted to touch it so badly.
"Y/N, dear. Did you hear what I was saying?" Your mother called, making you look up at her with wide eyes.
"Um... No, sorry!" You giggled nervously.
She frowned, placing her fork down, "Are you alright? You seem distracted."
Eddie looked at you worriedly, placing his arm around the back of your chair in silent support.
"Sorry! I was just… Thinking about something." You spoke softly, looking down at your plate.
Your mother just hummed, pursing her lips before she continued her story, while you just pushed the noodles around on your plate.
After dinner, Eddie followed you up the stairs and back to your room where he watched you plop onto your bed, stuffing your face into your pillows. Eddie bit his lip, sitting down on the edge of the bed, and reaching out to rub your back soothingly. You two sat there in silence for a while until Eddie spoke up, looking down at you as you snuggled deeper into the pillow.
"Are you alright, baby?" He asked, voice hardly above a whisper, yet you heard him.
"Yeah... No..." You answered back, your voice muffled by the fabric on your face.
"You wanna tell me?" Eddie urged, his fingers rubbing circles into your lower back.
You hesitated for a moment, before slowly sitting up and facing Eddie.
"It's nothing." You smiled sadly, not wanting to upset him.
Eddie frowned, "It can't be nothing if it's making you sad." He answered, watching as your sad smile turned into a frown.
"It's weird, Eddie. You sighed, "I keep getting these crazy urges to touch your hair and-"
Eddie's face lit up with surprise as he listened to you, "You want to touch my hair?" He asked, making you look up at him.
"Yeah. A lot. I'm sorry I'm being weird. I just... Your hair is so beautiful. I think about touching it all the time and whenever I do I get this overwhelming urge to run my hands through it. Just like today. Well, everyday, really." You confessed, unable to look Eddie in the eye.
A bright pink hue crept across Eddie's cheeks and the tips of his ears. "I didn't think you'd want to touch the merchandise that much." He mumbled shyly.
"I literally had a dream about braiding it." You confessed blatantly.
Eddie looked down at your bed, his fingers running along it as he thought. "Why don't you?" He asked, gaining your attention.
"What?"
"Why don't you braid my hair? Right now?" Eddie repeated, still refusing to look at you. He was embarrassed at the idea of you doing it and he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of you.
"Really?! Are you sure?" You asked excitedly. "I don't want to do anything you don't want me to... Or anything you don't feel comfortable with."
Eddie looked at you, a soft smile playing on his lips, "I trust you, Y/N. If you wanna do it, I'll let you."
Your eyes widened, "Okay," You couldn't help a huge smile from appearing on your face. "I promise, you're going to look amazing, honey." You exclaimed, sitting up on your legs, and scooting behind Eddie.
He felt a shiver travel down his spine at your breath fanning against his neck as you moved, and he swallowed nervously. You hesitated shortly before reaching out your hand, slowly running your hand through Eddie's hair. His face lit up, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh. Your heart raced as you ran your hands through the soft curls, Eddie leaning into your touch slightly. His hair was everything you had  soft and silky underneath your fingertips. You smiled, running your hands through it once more.
"So?" Eddie mumbled, opening his eyes to glance at you.
"Beautiful." You breathed, running your hand through his hair again. "How does it feel?" You asked curiously.
"Amazing," Eddie sighed, closing his eyes, "What type of braid are you thinking?" He asked as you tilted your head.
"You'd look amazing with a french, but I'm going to do the original one. Don't want your first braid to take too long. Besides, I'm not as skilled with the french as I am with the original." You stated, sectioning his hair into three parts.
Eddie sat there as you began to intertwine each section, humming happily to yourself as you did. Once you were done, you held the end of the braid so it wouldn't unravel. You reached forward and grabbed the hair tie sitting on top of your bedside table, tying his braid. Leaning back, you marveled at your work.
"There, all done." You said with a big smile.
Eddie slowly lifted his hand up, gently patting the braid so as to not mess your work up. A smile spread across his face as he admired how cute he must've looked. He turned in his seat, "Thank you, Y/N."
You reached up and booped his nose, "No, thank you, Eds."

pretty little liar
Pairing: Ten x Female!Reader
Summary: In order to get your annoying ex off your back, you tell a little white lie that takes an unexpected turn.
Genre: College!AU
Warnings: Smutty smut, dirty dancing
Word Count: 4,867
A/N: Unable to withstand Ten’s power any longer, I had to start writing about him…or a version of him anyway. Hope someone out there enjoys my first dip into the ~imagines~ pond. ☺️
The party was in full swing by the time you and your best friend Amy arrived, the music so loud it could be heard down the street. It was a wonder the cops hadn’t broken it up yet but hey, the night was still young. Ducking through the arched doorway with Amy hot on your heels, you let her guide you into the foyer where you both stopped to take in the scene. The place was packed with people dancing, drinking and laughing—everyone apparently having a great time. Which was perfect for you because all you wanted to do was blow off a little steam and pretend you hadn’t spent the day fantasizing about committing the perfect murder.
You enjoyed school for the most part and you enjoyed your classes, but really you couldn’t wait for it all to just be over. Two extra years and your master’s degree in linguistics was almost within your grasp. You still weren’t one hundred percent what you planned to do with it (teaching was definitely out) but either way you were ready to dive into the real world. To no longer be stressed out about exams and papers and boring ass professors that constantly seemed to have a stain on their tie.
And to get far, far away from your stupid ex, Adam.
“Uh oh you have murder face,” Amy said as she peeped around to look at you. “What’s wrong?”
You shrugged. “Just in my head I guess.”
Amy hummed. “I get it. That’s why we are here though! To get fucked up and do something we regret in the morning.”
You laughed. “Guess we’re Uber-ing home.”
She grinned and grabbed your wrist, pulling you over to a table loaded with different types of alcohol. The guy ‘tending bar’ as it were winked as you two approached. “What can I get you for?”
“Something with alcohol but where we can’t taste the alcohol!” Amy exclaimed happily. “Oh! And if you’ve got any little umbrellas I’d like one of those too.”
He did finger guns and proceeded to cook something up in two red cups, sticking in two pink umbrellas when he was done. You and Amy took your drinks and after a cursory sniff, took a sip. The tequila wasn’t as strong as with a single shot but you could still detect it just not enough to make you stop drinking. Unlike Amy you didn’t plan to get completely fucked up but you weren’t going to say no to a nice buzz.
Cups in hand you migrated onto the dance floor and fell in with everyone else, bopping to the beat and scream chatting over the loud music.
“I really needed this!” Amy yelled. “Statistics is kicking my cute little ass!”
“I know what you mean!” You shouted. “But hey! Soon we’ll be done and actual jobs will be kicking our cute little asses!”
Laughing, Amy bounced up and down, sending her blonde hair flying. “Is that why you’ve been so grumpy lately? Or is it…he who shall not be named?”
With a sigh you took a big sip of your strawberry margarita. “Yeah. He keeps fucking calling me and leaving me these stupid ass messages, apologizing and shit. I’ve blocked him but he just uses someone else’s phone.”
Amy’s eyes stretched wide. “That’s like stalker behavior! Or maybe he really is sorry for what he did.”
You snorted. “Sorry for having sex with his ex in the backseat of my car? As far as I am concerned he can take his ‘sorrys’ and shove them so far up his ass they come out his mouth as safaris!”
Amy choked a little on her drink, hitting you hard on the arm in admonishment after she stopped coughing. “I hate you! I could have died!”
Her words made you smirk. “But did you? No but for real, fuck Adam. Fuck Adam and anyone who even looks like Adam!”
“Woo!” Amy threw both hands up into the air, yelping as liquid sloshed down onto her head. “Oh shit! Drink emergency I’ll be right back!”
Before you could say anything, she turned and hurried back towards the drink table. Alone in the middle of a dancing crowd, you didn’t know whether you should slink over to a corner or just keep dancing. That last thing you wanted was some random dude trying to groove with you. Of course if you decided to hold up the wall nothing would stop some random dude from trying to hit on you either. At a bit of a loss you drained the rest of your drink and did a I don’t really know anyone two step, hoping Amy would return soon.
The tequila settled nice and warm in your stomach, making you feel more at ease. Most of the people at the party were from your school but not ones you associated with on like, a daily basis. Sure you recognized a few faces from the library or cafeteria but there was no one you’d had more than a surface conversation with.
And then your eyes landed on him. Ten.
Ten was a…different sort of person altogether. He was the kinda guy CW shows thought actually existed in college, except he was very real. And very much fucking gorgeous in that unattainable way CW shows also loved. However, that sort of did him a disservice because as far as you knew, he was just a decent guy who happened to be able to do some pretty awesome things.
For example, he was an amazing dancer. The kinda dancer that just freaking mesmerized you when he moved. Had you wondering how in the hell had he taught his body to do that shit? One minute he was in total sync with everyone else and the next he was performing his solo and blowing your mind. He’d done some show a few months ago with a friend and you’d nearly flipped out of your chair watching him work. The body rolls, the attitude, the way he’d just commanded the stage…whew. Was it possible to be a fan of someone who wasn’t famous?
Then there was his art; things he designed himself or drew from memory. Art class was essentially where you’d sorta came to be acquaintances with him. You weren’t exactly good at drawing but you liked it enough that you wanted to improve, plus it helped you de-stress after particularly hard days. Ten on the other hand excelled and just like with dancing, it was interesting to watch his process. He’d described himself as a sensory artist so he wasn’t always as concerned with the end product as the professor sometimes wanted him to be. From your eye though he’d yet to create anything that wasn’t remarkable. In fact, more than once you’d wanted to ask him to design a tattoo for you, but felt it would be kinda weird. He had no idea what you were into after all. So far your conversations with him had consisted of colors and that one time he’d asked to borrow one of your brushes.
You were pretty sure he’d sold something to an art gallery.
Anyway so Ten could dance and he could draw and he could sing and he was fluent in several languages; as far as you knew the only thing he was kind of shit at was cooking. But who hadn’t set a class kitchen on fire once or twice? Or three times…
If he were an asshole—well people would probably still crush on him—you’d count that as a major flaw and want to keep your distance. But the kicker was that he could do cool things and he was nice. Dorky even especially when it came to cute animals. Was always posting pictures of himself at the animal shelter playing with the kittens and the puppies, or just acting like an idiot with friends. Yet it was that confidence that made him seem untouchable, and also made him sexy as fuck. More than once you’d fantasized about biting his Adam’s apple.
Heh.
Shaking your head, you fanned lightly at your face with both hands. Maybe stepping outside for some fresh air would be a good idea.
“Y/N!” Amy nearly tripped over her pretty sandals in her hurry to get back to you. “Weewoo weewoo weewoo!”
“Um…”
She grabbed your shoulder. “It’s a police siren! We have a code red situation here, I repeat a code red! Adam just walked in!”
“What?” You blinked and immediately looked towards the doorway, brows narrowing when you saw she was right.
Standing there in a white t-shirt in his formerly handsome glory was your ex-boyfriend, Adam. Once upon a time you’d thought the world of him; thought he was the kinda guy you could probably marry someday. The kinda guy you’d introduced your family to. Turns out he was the kind of guy that hooked up with his ex in your car repeatedly until finally being caught in the act. Sure it had been gratifying to make him and her walk home half naked but it had done nothing to quell the pain left behind. Thankfully though your pain quickly turned to anger and now you usually focused on not murdering him when he popped up. There was a lot you could forgive but cheating was firmly in the do not cross zone. Everything you’d felt for him evaporated the moment you saw him with her.
And he’d promised he was over her. Lying piece of shit, you thought to yourself.
“What the hell is he doing here?! Does he even know anyone here?” you asked with a frown.
“I dunno!” your friend said slowly. “It’s possible, big campus and all. Do you want me to help you climb out of the bathroom window?”
“Yeah my boobs aren’t fitting through one of those skinny ass windows,” you replied wryly. “Though to be honest I’m almost willing to risk it. C’mon let’s—”
It was too late. Adam spotted you like an arrow searching for its target, eyes registering shock and then elation. He reached you in three quick strides, opening his arms for a hug that he was damned crazy to expect. “Y/N. Wow you—you look amazing. I’m so glad we ran into each other.”
You huffed. “I’m not. I told you we’re over Adam. Or does me blocking your calls not get the message across?”
He exhaled deeply. “Look I know I messed up but I’m sorry. Classes were just really tough and—and Lucy and I would reminisce about old times…”
“Do I look like I give a shit? You cheated on me and we’re over.” The lie came so easily. “Besides, I’ve moved on.”
“Yeah!” Amy poked him in the chest. “She’s moved on so suck it!”
Adam arched a brow. “You’ve moved on?” He sounded skeptical and that made your blood boil. “Since when? And with who?”
You’d once heard that Hippocrates came up with the saying drastic times call for drastic measures though it wasn’t something you’d be willing to bet money on. However, standing there with your ex eying you like he just knew you were lying brought a whole new meaning to the idiom. You would one hundred percent be damned before giving him the satisfaction of gloating.
Tequila’s kicking in…
Without missing a beat, you put a hand on your hip and motioned to Ten. “Him. I’m seeing him.”
Amy made a sound like a cat having its tail stepped on while Adam gaped at you. “What? I—no. No way. You’re totally lying. I’ve seen the people he’s dated and you’re not his type at all.”
This bitch.
Twirling on your black heels, you strolled across the room to where Ten sat in an arm chair, chatting with a few of his friends. Before you could talk yourself out of it, you straddled his lap and leaned forward to whisper in his ear. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I know this is awkward as fuck—I’m so sorry—but if you just play along I will owe you big time. I’ll give you anything. You need a kidney? You can have a kidney.”
Ten’s friends had gone mute and as you sat back to gauge his reaction—or to possibly be thrown off of him—you bit your full bottom lip. His dark eyes were watching you calculatingly, his own lips pursed together like you were a riddle he needed to solve. Up close he was utterly breathtaking, all smooth skin and silky black hair that fell artfully across his forehead. He smelled incredible.
And then he spoke.
“There you are baby,” he said wrapping an arm around your waist. “I’ve been looking for you.”
That was when you figured you owed him your first born but it was fine. “Well, you found me. Sorry to keep you waiting.”
He chuckled. “You’re worth waiting for.”
His friends still looked confused though they didn’t have time to voice their opinions. Adam stalked over seconds later like a man on a mission. “So it’s true? You and Y/N are together?”
Ten tilted his head to the side and you saw the moment the lightbulb went off for him. “Yeah we’re together.”
Adam huffed. “Since when? For how long? Where did you two meet?”
Ten smirked. “Are you taking a survey or something?” He brushed his lips across your jaw, making you shiver. “The only thing that matters is that she’s mine. Let’s dance, Y/N.”
“I would love to,” you replied with a smile. You were also grateful he’d remembered your name.
You climbed off of his lap and took his hand, sending Adam a you thought look before pulling Ten out into the thick of the crowd. Your heart was beating a mile a minute but you felt too giddy to pay much attention to it. Plus, you knew Adam was watching you like a hawk and you didn’t want to let on how nervous you actually were. If he found out you were lying he’d never leave you alone and consider you pathetic to boot. Besides the nice buzz that was finally creeping down your spine told you everything would be fine. How could it not be?
Ten’s hands settled low on your hips and he gave you a little tug, pulling your back to his chest. You fit rather perfectly with him, his chin brushing the top of your head. Picking a rhythm in the song that thumped with bass, you began to move together. You rolled your ass against him and leaned your head back to rest on his shoulder, focusing on his breath as it ghosted across your neck. A silver of light wouldn’t have been able to get between you.
Normally you wouldn’t have dared to do something like this with a near stranger but your desire to make your ex suffer was bigger than your nerves. Besides Ten appeared to be all in on the ruse; his body twisting and curving in sync with yours, fingers on his right hand sliding up between your breasts to wrap lightly on your throat. His teeth nipped at your earlobe and you gasped. Reached around to his side to clasp his shirt for an anchor. You heard him chuckle and suddenly you were spun away from him only to be reeled back in, this time face to face.
The room felt like it was two hundred degrees. You weren’t exactly wearing much—a slinky black dress with tiny ties at the hem—but even that seemed too much. Without missing a beat though you and Ten continued to grind with one another, his thigh just barely pushed between your own. Every time you swayed forward to meet him the denim of his jeans rubbed deliciously against you, sending sparks sprinting through your veins. Both of his hands were on your ass as if helping to guide you, and as you met his gaze you couldn’t help but bite your lip at what you saw there. Desire, lust, hunger—no one had ever looked at you like that before. Like they could just devour you and still not have enough of you.
It made you feel powerful.
You grinned and wrapped an arm around his neck, fingers giving his hair a little tug. He hissed and lowered his head so that he could mouth at your bare shoulder, hands squeezing your ass so hard it nearly hurt. You weren’t sure when you started to get wet—maybe it was the moment you sat on his lap or he decided to play along with your dumb stunt—but you could tell it now. Your panties were sticking to you, your skin was on fire and it was becoming difficult to think straight. Honestly however you didn’t want to think at all, especially not if it meant not being in Ten’s orbit.
“Ten,” you whispered into the skin under his jaw.
He hummed, the sound vibrating through your body. You plastered your hand to his chest and pulled it down, nails catching on the thin material of his shirt until they were brushing along the zipper on his jeans. You gave him a quick squeeze—he was hard and straining—and he cursed loudly. Between one second and the next he was dragging you down a dimly light hallway, past kissing couples and one guy passed out drunk in the doorway of someone’s room. He swung you both into the first vacant room he came to; a lavish bathroom at the very back of the house. The door was closed with a swift thump and the lock clicked shut.
You licked your lips as he crowded you back into the counter, looking down at you with a tiny smirk. That part of your brain that yammered on about bad decisions was surprisingly quiet, so you figured it was beyond okay to pull him down for a kiss. As with most of the stuff he did, Ten was a damn good kisser. His mouth was soft and warm, his tongue playful and coaxing. He kissed you like he’d been waiting to kiss you for a long time. Until it grew deep and sensual. Until you were both panting with the need for air but neither wanting to let go of the moment.
With a gasp you tilted backwards a bit, your knees suddenly weak. “Fuck me,” you said absently.
“Can I?” Ten asked, chest heaving. “Can I fuck you?”
“God yes,” you replied, already pulling your dress up until it hitched around your waist.
Ten hooked his thumbs onto the band of your pink panties and slid them down your legs, laying them next to the sink. He looked you over with that same eye he used for his art but you could tell he liked what he saw. You grabbed his hand and brought it between your legs, spreading them wider for him. Two of his fingers slipped inside of you without any resistance to find you damp and aching, already so hot for him. He started a lazy rhythm—in and out, in and out—like he was in no hurry at all. Like he wasn’t driving you crazy all the way down to the tips of your toes.
He kept his eyes locked onto yours as he touched you, lips slightly parted like he couldn’t believe this was happening. That rang true for both of you. Never in your wildest dreams did you think you’d ever really be friends with Ten, let alone about to hook up with him. It was like you’d stumbled into some alternate universe.
Bringing his free hand up to your cheek, he smoothed his thumb across your lips, pressing lightly until you let him in. You sucked his thumb into your mouth and gave it a little nip, smiling when he smirked. When he deemed it wet enough, he pressed it to your clit and you moaned, your hips stuttering upward with a will of their own. He began a firm massage, working your clit this way and that, fingers still thrusting in their maddening motion. Of course he’d be great with his hands. Of course he’d be able to play your body like a finely tuned instrument.
Pressure started to build low in your stomach. “I—I’m…”
“Turn around.” Ten took a step back and made a show of sucking his fingers into his mouth, tongue darting out to lick between them like he wanted to savor every drop.
You whimpered but did as he requested, your eyes finding his in the wide silver mirror. You watched as he unzipped his pants and pushed them along with his dark colored briefs down to the floor. You hadn’t seen him pull out a condom but he had one; ripping open the packaging with his perfectly straight teeth before rolling it onto his hard cock. It was a delicious looking thing you had to admit, long and thick with a slight curve. If you’d had the time you would have gladly went to your knees for him.
A low breath shuddered out of Ten’s lungs as he pushed inside of you, his hands gripping your waist so strongly you were bound to have a few bruises later. “Fuck, you’re tight.”
It had been a while since Adam and nobody after him until now.
When he assumed you’d adjusted to the size of him, he pulled nearly out before driving back inside of you. You moaned and pushed back to meet his thrusts, feeling the pleasure shattering through you. Your breasts bounced as he moved and he reached a hand forward, tugging down the top of your dress so that he could cup one. He rolled your nipple between his fingers and pinched, bending over you so that he could bite down onto the tender skin of your shoulder. The motion sent him even deeper and you both groaned at the feeling.
“Te—Ten,” you stammered, losing your train of thought when he rolled his hips liked he did on the dance floor. “Oh fuck! Fuck!”
The picture you made in the mirror was a very erotic one; you could see every single expression on Ten’s handsome face. The utter enjoyment he was obviously finding in fucking you was written all over it; there was nowhere for it to hide. His head was tipped back, eyes fluttering closed only to pop back open so that he could watch himself shove into you over and over again. He had you up on your tip toes, nose just an inch from the mirror itself. He was always sexy but tonight that word took on a whole new meaning.
All you could do was try to give as good as you got.
You slapped a hand onto the sink to steady yourself and clenched around him, reveling in the low whine that escaped his throat. It kinda sounded like your name.
And then he was pulling all the way out, dick bouncing as he stumbled backwards. You blinked in confusion. “Wh--what’s wrong?”
Ten ran his fingers through his hair. “C’mon. I want you to ride me.”
He sat down on the closed toilet seat lid and you straddled him without a second thought, sinking down onto his dick with a full body shudder. With your dress around your waist and your breasts jiggling in his face as you bounced up and down on his cock, he traced his tongue around your nipple before lightly biting down. You tangled your fingers in his hair and panted out his name, letting out a squeak when his palm connected with your ass for a hard slap. Planting his feet on the floor, he leaned you backwards a bit as he drove into you repeatedly, eyes watching how well your pussy took him.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmured against your collarbone. “Gorgeous—you feel so good.” He bit you again, this time on the side of your neck. “So good.”
With one hand on his shoulder to brace yourself, you rose up and let yourself come down hard over and over again, feeling him pound so deep it was almost criminal. Had the music not been so loud you knew exactly what you would have heard; the sound of skin hitting skin as Ten fucked you like he owned you. Just for tonight, maybe he did.
You weren’t sure how long it went on but when you came it still managed to take you by surprise. Your body lit up like a Christmas tree from the inside out and you cried out Ten’s name, clenching around him, your nails digging into his shoulder blades. He muttered a drawn out fuuuuck and pinched your clit with this thumb and forefinger, making you jerk so hard you nearly tumbled off his lap.
“Ah! Ten!” You shouted as he kept it up. “I—no—oh god—”
Your pussy tightened around him again and he shivered, thrusts growing erratic as he came with a grunt. You trembled through a second orgasm almost in disbelief—usually the only thing that could get you off twice in a row was hidden under your bed in a shoe box.
Seconds later you flopped against him, attempting to catch your breath. He was still rolling his hips just a tiny bit, making all the too sensitive areas ping.
“Whoa,” he said breathlessly, wrapping both arms around your waist. “That was…”
You chuckled softly. “Yeah…” Chancing a look at him, you admired the way strands of his dark hair stuck to his sweaty forehead. He was glistening, shirt sticking to his chest. He smelled like hints of your perfume and you smelled like hints of his cologne. It was all so intimate.
Reluctantly you sat back and gazed at him, wondering if things were about to get awkward. But Ten just smiled and ducked his head a little, a barely there blush creeping up into his already flushed cheeks. It was so adorable you couldn’t have resisted kissing him if you tried. From the way he melted into you, he’d had the same idea.
After a few minutes of just enjoying the feel of his lips against yours, you forced yourself up off of him. Your legs shook; you had to grab the counter to keep from tripping in your heels. You could already tell you’d still feel him tomorrow and the thought made you kinda dizzy, but in a good way. Blinking at your reflection—your hair was a dark mess—you knew there was no way you’d be able to hide the love bites that adorned your skin. They stood out stark red and purple like a bruise.
Ten remained slouched on the toilet for a couple of moments before removing the condom and tossing it into the trash. He dabbed at his dick with a handful of toilet paper, and then pulled up his underwear and jeans. “So…can I ask you something?”
You fixed your dress. “Sure.”
“Who was that guy?” he inquired with a grin. “The one you obviously wanted to get away from.”
Oh shit you’d forgotten all about Adam! “Oh he—he’s my dumb ex. He jumped stupid at me and I—I wanted to show him that he’s an idiot. That I’m totally over him. I—I’m sorry for getting you involved.”
He laughed as he patted down his hair. “No complaints from my end. I think he got the message though.” Reaching behind you he handed you your panties. “Don’t wanna forget these.”
It was ridiculous to be embarrassed considering what you’d both just done, but you couldn’t help it. You took them from him and pulled them on, keeping your eyes on the ground. “Thanks… Look Ten—”
“I’m hungry,” he said interrupting you. “Have you ever had grilled dried pollack?”
“Um yeah once I think,” you replied uncertainly. “It was pretty tasty.”
Ten motioned behind him. “I know a place that makes it if you wanted to go. And…maybe afterwards we could just hang out. Talk.”
That sounded amazing. “I’d love to. But…”
He picked up on your meaning. “Y/N I sit next to you in all of our art classes. I make conversation with you for no reason. Do you really think I of all people forget my brushes? Honestly I’ve wanted to ask you out for a while but you’ve always seemed…disinterested.”
You were dumbstruck by his admission. “Me?! That’s just my face! You’re the unattainable ingénue or whatever!”
Ten chuckled, folding his arms across his chest. “Oh please the only thing standing between me and being a serious cat dad is having an apartment that allows animals. However, this conversation is pointless. You owe me and I’m collecting…if that’s okay?”
You huffed but couldn’t stop grinning. “It’s perfect.”
The walk from the bathroom to the living room had everyone staring with a few people letting out loud whistles. Adam had disappeared but Amy was there to give you a big thumbs up. You promised to call her later and then let Ten pull you outside into the warm night air, your fingers happily entwined with his.

Hello there <3
I hope I’m not bothering you with this request.. May I have a Dazai x Fem!Reader where the reader is getting “joke” comments on her slight overweightedness and like.. it hurts? And Dazai tries his best to comfort his s/o who breaks down in front of him, does his best to show that nothing related to appearance could change his undying love?
The usual comfort/fluff genre, I’d be really so glad but if you can’t/you feel uncomfortable, it’s totally alright, I adore your works ❤️
Hi there, love! I just want you to know that you deserve all the happiness in the world, and that you are beautiful ♡ it took me some time to love myself, but now that I do, I'm unstoppable. Love your body, it's beautiful, no matter what others might say. Give yourself love, because you're worth it!
Tumblr media
||Dazai Osamu x fem! Reader|| Tw: slight nsfw (kissing), strong language.
You're Perfect for Me
Tumblr media
"Dazai, who's this?" , a tall, beautiful woman asks as she leans against the wall, sipping her champagne.
"This is Y/N! She's my beautiful s/o."
Dazai pecks your cheek and pulls you closer by the waist.
"Oi, Dazai! I've got some people that want to meet you!"
Kunikida called from across the hall.
Dazai excused himself.
The A.D.A was hosting a party for saving the city, yet again. Everyone related to the members, along with people of influence across the globe were invited. The party was being held in a spacious hall, elegant lighting and decor adorning the place.
The woman in front of you was an agent of the government. Since the A.D.A had worked along with the Special Division for Unusual Powers, every agent of theirs was also invited.
"So you're Dazai's woman. I have to say, I was expecting someone.. lankier, considering Dazai's slender form."
She spoke with a smile on her face. It all seemed so innocent, but you could easily pick up on the jab.
You laughed it off.
"Iko! There you are! I've been searching for you."
Another beautiful woman walked over to the two of you.
"And who might this be?", she asked, smiling politely at you.
"That's Dazai's woman. Y/N, meet Ichigo."
You both shook hands.
"Well, you're certainly on the healthy side! Good for you! You must never need sweaters, right?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, you know what I mean. You have a natural layer of protection. You don't need sweaters for the cold."
She said it with a smile, but her words stabbed your heart. You couldn't handle it anymore.
"Excuse me for a second."
You hurriedly walked over to an empty balcony, observing the night sky.
A couple walked in, both a bit tipsy.
"Ah! Hello there! I didn't see you here."
One of them said when they spotted you.
"Kinda hard to miss her, dear. Let's go."
The other said, dragging his boyfriend out.
Your throat felt tight and your eyes stung from the tears that wanted to be set free. Your whole life, you have worked hard to get what you wanted. You still strive to study hard, work hard, and become successful. But nobody seems to acknowledge that. All they see is your overweight body. You didn't mean for it to be like this. You didn't choose your body. You were born with it. So why does everyone comment on it? Why can't they appreciate what you have achieved?
A sob found it's way out of you, and you gripped the railing.
Were you really nothing more than your body? Was there nothing more to you?
You heard footsteps behind you. You tried to stop crying and quickly rubbed your tears away.
"Y/N?", Dazai's voice sounded from the entrance of the balcony.
When you didn't respond, he walked in, and stood next to you.
"I was wondering where you'd gone. What's on your mind?"
He asked, gazing at the moon, failing to notice your tear streaked expression.
"I think.. I think we should break up."
Your broken whisper made Dazai look over at you.
He noticed your dried tears and the redness around your eyes.
"I'm so sorry. Is it something I said? Or did? Please don't cry."
He cupped your cheek. You moved back, avoiding his touch. His heart sank at that.
"No, it's not you. It's just... you deserve better."
You said, looking away from him.
"You're kidding, aren't you?"
Dazai said.
You shook your head.
"No. I'm serious."
Dazai held your hands in his, forcing you to look at him.
"Y/N, you're the best thing that has happened to me. I love you. I don't deserve you. You're the most precious person to exist, and I'd die protecting you. Please, you have to understand, you're the most amazing person. You gave me, a killer, another chance at a happy life."
Your tears were streaming down your face as you tried to get away from him.
"Are you crazy? You're not a killer, Dazai. You might have done some bad things, but you're a good hearted soul. You're so handsome, so charming. You can have any girl you want. So why me? Why would you go for a fat, pathetic woman like me?!"
"Whoa, hold on! Who the fuck thinks you're pathetic? You're fucking awesome, Y/N."
"But I'm not sexy! I'm not like other girls! I'm just chubby, and unattractive and undeserving."
"So what if you're chubby?! You're sexy! You attract me! I can't keep my eyes off you, damnit, I want to take you right here right now! When I saw you in this gown tonight I couldn't wait to ravish you. I wanted to surprise you, but let me tell you, ever since I saw you in this dress, I've been planning to take you home and fuck you senseless. Because that's how mad you drive me. I love you, Y/N. You're the only person that can understand me. I can't live without you. Please don't leave me..."
You gaped at him. He really did love you. He wasn't doing you a favor by being with you. He's with you because he really loves you.
"Are.. are you sure you want me?"
Dazai grabbed your face in his hands and kissed you. He deepened the kiss. The feeling of his tongue against your own was driving you crazy. He pressed you against the railing, not giving you a chance to breathe.
He finally pulled back, panting at you.
"That proof enough?"
Through the daze, you nodded.
"Don't worry. I'll prove it to you as soon as we get home."
Tonight was going to be a long night for the two of you.

pairing: sero hanta x reader
genre: fluff
word count: 1.5k
a/n: i'm sorry this took so long, but this got longer than intended and i'm proud to announce that i am a sero simp now 🤧 part 6/7 of the event!!! also sorry for the header my braincells run out and it was p last minute, this is also not proofread
Tumblr media
having sero as your lover has been amazing. he's a gentleman, he's patient with you, he understood you, and most of all he cares for you more than he liked to admit.
your relationship consisted of showing each other your endless affection through actions, words and in many ways you both possibly could. one of your favorites about sero's way of showing his love to you is by paying attention to the smallest disarray in you and fixing it.
you admit that you loved it when he doted on you, fussed over you like a mother hen would. but it just shows even in the trivial things, you see that he cared.
it made your heart race and beat wildly inside your ribcage that prisoned your restless heart whenever he does so. leaning close to you unknowingly, his breath fanning your face and mingling with yours, feeling his warmth, seeing the crease in his eyebrows as he tried to fix whatever it is he found in your physique.
you'd thank him right after. claiming that 'you didn't notice' and proceed as if nothing happened. as if what he just did didn't make you fall for him harder and as if you didn't do it intentionally.
that's why you took your date night as the perfect opportunity to 'test' your boyfriend and see just how far his limits go with him being caring for you. call it a little social experiment without his knowledge. it's not to take advantage of him, but more like, a challenge perhaps.
before exiting your shared bedroom, you made sure you let one strand of hair untucked and the necklace that he gave you lie on top of your collar bones in the wrong way.
you greeted him with a smile, ready and giddy for tonight. he looked handsome as ever with his usual self. hell, he can wear whatever and you'd still find him gorgeous and breathtaking.
“wow,” he breathed out in shock as if he just saw you for the first time. “you look stunning,”
“thank you, you look...hot.” you complimented him back, not without your face feeling hot which he so definitely noticed.
he stared at you in awe for a minute or two. you counted in your head, it was only a matter of time before he's unable to resist himself. the slight movement of his hand caught your eye and it was already moving to tuck the loose hair behind your ear, beaming at you with a starry gaze.
“let's go?” he offered his arm for you to take and you both walked out of the house.
and it was the perfect opportunity to execute the second step of the plan. it was rather chilly out that night, good thing you purposely left your coat inside the house and now as you're rubbing your arms, sero definitely noticed how you shivered in your bones.
“i told you to always bring a jacket, my love.” he had a worried frown on his face but nevertheless, took off his own jacket and placed it on the top of your shoulders like the gentleman he is. your heart just about celebrated inside your chest at the action even though you had planned it all along.
his jacket and his shirts that you loved to wear even if sometimes they don't fit you, offered their services when he was busy during work and he wasn't there to cuddle you. they became your secondary source of comfort while he's away.
“i know, but i love it when you lend me yours.” you smirked up at him, snuggling close. “plus it smells better, smells like you.” it smells like home, is what you wanted to say.
“you're lucky you're cute,” he teased, kissing your temple as you both walked towards the designated place you're going to have your date.
it was a lovely retro looking restaurant. granted, not many people are around at that time but it's because sero may have slipped in a coin or two just so no one else will bother you. it took your breath away – the scene can only be seen from the movies or posters alike. they even have old songs playing inside the diner and the staff have uniforms that fit the theme.
“hanta, this is amazing!” you giggled like a child on christmas. it truly was amazing, they even had their own jukebox at the corner, and the decors are what you really loved. you made a mental note to take a photo here later.
“it definitely is,” sero mumbled back, eyes focused on you as yours roamed with newfound wonder at the place. he loved that awestruck look on your face, immortalizing it in his mind and happy that he get to be the one to put it on your beautiful visage.
he led you both to a booth and sat down. not a moment longer, a waitress walked up to the two of you to get your orders. after that, you were both left alone as you waited.
you stared back at sero in slight confusion, patiently waiting for him to bite into your next plan which he still hadn't noticed yet.
that was an exaggeration, obviously, but you were thankful for this date night tonight. you were just adding a bit of spice to it per se.
“how did you know about this place?” you attempt at small talk, anything to divert yourself from talking about your motives for tonight. you're not going to lie, you appreciated that he made time for the two of you to have a date despite him being busy all the time with his work that he barely get to squeeze in this date night without going through so many obstacles and yet here you are, analyzing him like a scientist pointing a magnifying glass on an ant.
“oh, i once stopped here for some coffee then i thought i should probably get you here someday because this place is awesome and you definitely need to try their food!” sero enthusiastically explained, eyes sparkling in excitement as he animatedly moved his arms while talking.
on that note, the waitress was back carrying a tray of food you ordered. after thanking her, you both digged in and started eating. sero was right, their food was worth trying.
“this is so good!” you moaned after taking mouthfuls of your burger.
“i feel like i'm in heaven,” sero added, eyes closing as he bite into his.
“we definitely need to go back here again, babe.” their burger was like a luxury and you wanted to savor every last moment of it. your tastebuds and senses were clearly satisfied and you can't wait to go back for more.
“wait,” he put down his burger and grabbed a few napkins. he leaned across the table to gently hold your face in place, the other holding a napkin dabbing softly at the mess you have made on yourself while eating.
at last, he had succumbed to the next step.
fighting back a smile, you thanked him and proceeded to eat. the both of you stayed at the diner for as long as you could, mainly to not disturb the ambience you both created and because you still wanted to stay there longer with your lover.
once you're completely satisfied, you both walked out and basked in the chilly night air. sero's arm hugged you close to his warm body as you strolled peacefully as if you have all the time in the world. well it was peaceful until he turned to you with a focused expression.
“i can't believe you'd go out looking like that,” he clicked his tongue in mock annoyance, shaking his head as he leaned closer and he finally, finally noticed the necklace that's been sitting on the wrong way dangling on your neck.
you can't help the smile stretching your lips at his kind act, letting him do his thing. his soft, gentle fingertips arranging the cold metal of his initial on your neck before sliding up the necklace and onto the side of your neck.
you were no longer smiling as the spaces between you two became smaller and smaller. he stared deep into your eyes, his searching and absolutely in awe of you no matter how frazzled you look, you know he's ready to fix it in a heartbeat. the moonlight shining from behind him along with the twinkling stars truly provided a romantic, dreamy and magical background to the same thing you are feeling right now.
he took your breath away for the nth time that night – his plump (and burger tasting) lips met yours, massaging and moving against each other in a slow dance, caressing it softly and then you felt his wet tongue poke at the corners of your lips and you can't help but mash it with your own, the kiss turning passionate as you slid your arms up – wrapping it around his neck while his own hands went down to your waist.
it felt like eternity after he pulled away, eyes hazy and a faint blush you weren't able to see due to the low lighting of the place but you certainly felt the heat emanating from it. yours were heating up from the passionate kiss you shared, smiling at each other filled with nothing but affection.
“you had ketchup on your lips,” sero chuckled before pulling you close as you walked home.

Over the next few weeks, not a day went by that you and Marcus didn’t speak to each other. You were always texting all throughout the day while you both were at work. He always told you what he could about the current case he was on and you told him about the next big event you had planned. There were even nights when you would sneak out of bed after your boyfriend Tom fell asleep to text Marcus from the bathroom.
I need my good luck charm again. Marcus texted you one day when he was stuck on a case with no leads.
You should have seen this Karen today. You said one day after your client was not satisfied with what you gave her, and refused to work with you no matter how hard you tried to help her.
Sometimes, the two of you would meet for lunch or coffee, since during the day was the only time you could get away from Tom without suspicion. Marcus always insisted on paying for you despite your protests, so one day you made him an offer that he accepted: you would take the bill every other time. You argued that it was the fair way to do this, and Marcus didn’t counter.
“So you’re telling me you were in a band when you were younger?” you laughed as you and Marcus talked about your college days over a late morning coffee.
He joined in your laughter, “What? I don’t look like the type?”
You looked down shyly, “It’s not that,” you met his eyes, “I used to do musical theater in college. Guess we’re just both musically inclined.”
“Now that I would have loved to see,” Marcus beamed at you.
You could feel heat rise in your cheeks as you thought back to the various parts you played, “I miss it some days. I had a few bigger parts, but the one I really wanted was the lead in My Fair Lady my senior year,” you sighed, “I didn’t get it though, lost it to my friend Caitlin.”
Marcus noticed the way your face dropped, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” you picked yourself back up, “She was awesome actually. Better than I could have been,” you chuckled, “She was a theater major anyway, I just did it for fun.”
“I bet you would have been wonderful,” he replied with a dreamy look on his face.
You were at a loss for words as you just stared at him. Marcus was always so genuine with his compliments and he always seemed to lift you up with his words without even trying. And as handsome as he was, it was his kindness that really drew you to him.
When you realized you hadn’t said anything in a few minutes, you cleared your throat and changed the subject, “I actually have something I wanted to ask you, Marcus,” you were nervous to ask, but it was something you really wanted.
He seemed to sense your anxiety and rested his hand over yours on the table, “Anything,” he said your name in a way that made your heart race.
“Well,” you took a deep breath, “There’s this gala for the local big historians group on Friday night. It’s my biggest event of the year,” you had mentioned it to Marcus a few times since it consumed so much of your time this this year you took the lead on it for the first time, “And usually Johnny comes with me as my date, but he’s busy that night…” You paused. When you had mentioned it to Johnny last week, he seemed to make a lazy excuse and suggested there was someone else you should take as your date instead, “It’s black tie, and I know it’s kind of last minute, but would you like to come with me?”
Marcus couldn’t believe what you were asking; it was like a dream to him, “I think I can find a tux in time,” he replied with a bright smile once he calmed his racing thoughts. He wanted to ask why your boyfriend didn’t accompany you, but relationships was one topic that the two of you never touched on.
It took you a beat to realize that he said yes to you and your face lit up, “Really?” then, it was as if you could sense his unasked question, “Tom never likes to come to these things. He’s actually out of town until this weekend anyway.”
“His loss,” Marcus said before he could stop himself and he froze when he realized what he said. But when he looked at you, you had a huge grin on your face.
“It’s my turn to take the tab,” you said with a pep in your voice, “Why don’t you meet at my place at 7 on Friday and the car can pick us up from there?”
The week flew by and come Friday evening, you were in the mirror to put the finishing touches on your outfit. You wore a brand new formal gown that you got just for the gala and you had your hair and makeup done to perfection. Just as you gave yourself one last look, there was a knock at your door.
“Right on time, Agent Pike,” you greeted him before you even opened your door completely. You stopped dead in your tracks when you looked up to see him standing there in a perfectly fitted black tuxedo and he had never looked more beautiful to you.
Marcus was about to give you a witty reply when he too was too awestruck to move or say anything. You looked absolutely stunning in your gown, and Marcus could feel his heart pound in his chest at the sight of you, “Wow,” he breathed, “You look so beautiful.”
You giggled softly as you took a step back to let him in, “So do you,” you voice was just above a whisper. As Marcus walked past you, you noticed for the first time that he held a small box in his hands, “You didn’t have to bring anything,” you commented as you gestured to the box.
It was Marcus’ turn to be nervous this time, “I...I’ve actually been hanging on to this for a while now,” he faced you and slowly opened the box to reveal the necklace that you had bid on at the auction weeks ago. It was just as lovely as you remembered.
“Marcus…” you gasped as he moved behind you to clasp it around your neck, “You didn’t…” you watched him in the mirror and you felt your skin tingle when his fingers brushed against your neck. You fought back tears at all the emotions that rushed through you.
He didn’t say anything as he fasted it around your neck and then he met your eyes in the mirror, “Perfect,” was all he said.
So are you, you thought. It took you a moment to realize he let his hands rest on your shoulders, and you found that you never wanted him to let you go. But, you had to get going or else you would be late so you cleared your throat, took his hand and led him out the door where the car was waiting to pick you up.
The gala itself was glamorous, Marcus had never seen anything so beautiful in his life. Other than you that was. People in their finest attire filled the large reception hall and there was a bar on either wall staffed with waiters to serve food and drinks. You glanced around with a critical eye to make sure all of your hard work showed and nothing was wrong.
Marcus made sure to compliment you on your hard work, and the way your smile lit up the entire room made his face flush. He held out an arm for you so that you could survey the event before you could let yourself enjoy the time. As the two of you walked around, Marcus noticed the way people eyed the two of you, and he definitely overheard more than one person comment what a lovely couple you were. He swallowed hard, and he was sure you didn’t hear the comment since you were too focused on everything else around you.
It wasn’t long before one of your staff rushed up to you with a crisis, and you let out a frustrated sigh, “I’m sorry Marcus,” you turned to him with an apologetic look on your face, “I gotta go deal with this before the director speaks. It’s all you can drink so enjoy yourself,” you gestured over to the bar where there was a line of people waiting for a drink, “Can you get me something too please? You pick.”
“Don’t worry about it. Go, make sure everything’s ok,” Marcus replied in a genuine voice. He understood the need to make everything perfect and he definitely understood being dedicated to your job.
Before you even thought about it, you placed a quick kiss to his cheek, “I’ll find you when I’m done, I promise,” with that you rushed off with your assistant.
Marcus stood for a moment, dumbfounded, as he brushed his fingers against his cheek. He only moved when people started to knock into him as they walked past and he decided to get in line for drinks.
He stood with his hands in his pockets as he looked around the room. You truly outdid yourself with the event; everything was perfect and the guests seemed to really enjoy themselves. Marcus was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear something call his name at first.
“Agent Pike?” the man came up from behind him, “I didn’t know you would be here.”
“Director,” Marcus shook his hand. He recognized the head of the Smithsonian right away since he had worked with him several times in the past, “It’s good to see you, sir.”
“I’d say the same, but seeing you here is making me worried,” the director joked, “Is there something I need to be concerned with?”
Marcus laughed, “No, no. I’m here as a date actually. I know the event planner,” he referred to you by your title and then your name.
“The event planner?” he raised his eyebrows before he reached into his pocket and produced his business card, “Well give her this then and tell her to call me first thing Monday morning. This is the best this gala has been in years, and I’d love to have her plan the Smithsonian’s next big event.”
Marcus beamed with pride, “Yes sir,” he couldn’t wait to tell you and he found himself giddy as he thought about the look on your face.
“Make sure to tell your girlfriend she did an amazing job,” the director gave Marcus a pat on his shoulder before he walked away.
He stood frozen in shock at the word the director referred to you as. Marcus was so deep in his head that he didn’t even hear you walk up next to him until you called his name a few times, “Oh, hey,” he finally said.
“You still with me, Marcus?” your smile really was something else, especially with that necklace around your neck.
“I am,” he wrapped an arm around your shoulders, “Oh, before I forget,” Marcus handed you the business card, “This is for you, and he wants you to call him first thing Monday morning. He’s impressed with your work.” So am I.
Just like he thought it would, your face lit up as you looked at the director of the Smithsonian’s card, “This is… wow…” you were struck speechless.
Marcus couldn’t help the way his hand reached out for you and he gently brushed your cheek before he laid his hand against your jaw to make you look at him. Just as he was about to say something, an announcement rang through for everyone to gather in the other room to listen to the evening’s speaker. Disappointment was clear in both of your eyes as Marcus took your hand and led you away to listen to the speaker.
Once the speech was over, the space turned into a dance floor. It was always the most fun part of the evening whenever you came with Johnny because you could just let loose with your best friend. But, with Marcus, it felt different. It was still a lot of fun, but you felt a connection with Marcus that you never felt with anyone else. He held you while you danced together in a way that made your heart pound in your chest.
After some fast dance songs, the music then turned into a slow ballad. People all around you paired up and started to sway together, but you just looked at Marcus with wide eyes. You wanted to dance with him more than anything, but you also didn’t want to push your boundaries with him. But before you could lead him away from the dance floor, Marcus rested his hand on your hip and took your other hand in his to lead you in a slow dance.
He gave you a questioning look, as if to ask if this was ok. You responded wordlessly and leaned into his touch and let him lead you in your dance. You breath caught in your throat when you felt his grip tighten on you.
Marcus smiled brightly at you, and he found he didn’t want this moment to end. You were always beautiful in his eyes, but tonight you shined like the brightest star in the sky. In that moment, Marcus wanted nothing more than to kiss you, and he judged by the look on your face that the feeling was mutual.
Slowly, tentatively, he leaned in close to you until his lips hovered over yours. He paused just before he touched his lips to yours to give you the chance to turn away to tell him no. When you didn’t and your eyes fluttered shut, Marcus took the silent invitation. He was about to close the gap between your faces when the slow song ended and an upbeat song started to play.
The sudden noise made you jump in surprise as you back away from Marcus just a bit. You giggled nervously and played with your hands and you found that you couldn’t meet his eyes after your almost kiss.
“You want to get out of here?” Marcus asked over the music.
You finally met his eye and nodded. It was silent between the two of you as you went outside and waited for the car to pick you up and take you back to your place. Marcus thanked the driver before he got out first to open the car door for you and led you up to your front door. He thought you would pull your key out and open the door, but you stood still and just stared at the knob, lost in thought.
Marcus took a breath and said your name to get your attention. He couldn’t hold it in anymore, he had to say something, “I can’t watch you live like this anymore,” he started, his palms sweaty with nerves. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt this nervous around a woman, “I like you,” you let out a gasp as you whipped your head around to meet his gaze, “I really like you. And I can’t watch you be with Tom anymore.” I don’t want to see him hurt you anymore.
“Marcus…”
“Leave him,” Marcus pleaded, “Leave him and be with me. I promise I’ll take care of you and I’ll protect you. I’ll never hurt you the way Tom has,” emotion lined his voice at his confession.
You blinked in surprise as your hands trembled, “What?”
“Listen,” he took your hands in his, “I’ve had my share of bad relationships. And between my ex wife divorcing me and my ex fiancé leaving me for someone else, I’ve been afraid of rejection. But for you, I’m willing to take that risk. Because you’re worth it, and you deserve better than him.” Marcus laid his heart out on the line for you as he spoke.
“Marcus… I…” you looked down at your connected hands before you met his eyes again. Tears welled in your eyes, but they weren’t tears of sorrow, “I do like you. A lot. But I… We…. It’s complicated,” your heart pounded in your chest.
He whispered your name as he brushed a tear away from your cheek. You leaned into his touch; it was always so electric for you whenever he touched you.
‘I’m not telling you ‘no.’ Just... give me some time, ok? I need to figure some things out.”
Marcus couldn't hide the disappointment in his face, but he nodded. He understood it was a lot he just put on you, and he also knew it wouldn’t be easy for you to change your entire life like this overnight. Although part of him hoped you would say yes to him right away, “I’ll wait as long as you need me to. You’re worth the wait,” his thumb brushed your cheek as he held your face.
“Marcus…” you choked back a sob as you fought the urge to just kiss him, “I’m sorry. I…” you broke away and unlocked your door before you stepped inside, “Thank you for coming, Marcus. That was the best time I’ve ever had.”
“Yeah, me too,” his voice was laced with melancholy as he watched you close the door. Marcus waited until he heard the lock click before he turned and got into his car. He sat there for a few moments and just watched your shadow move about your house before he drove away.

The Loft (Chapter 3)
After a bad break-up, Hermione Granger moves into a messy and dysfunctional loft with four single men. What starts as a temporary home until she gets back on her feet becomes so much more, as she learns there's a lot of life - and love - that happens at rock-bottom.

Chapter 3
[Hermione]
Hermione lands at The Burrow after work on a Friday afternoon, and she's in desperate need of a drink. She's never been much of a drinker, but ever since moving into the loft and befriending Ron and Ginny, the Weasleys' family-owned bar has become a weekly staple.
It doesn't hurt that when Ron's running the bar, as he does most weekends, the drinks are on the house. At least they are for his roommates.
"What can I get for you, Hermione?"
"Surprise me," she says as she slides onto a barstool.
"That's risky. You sure about that?" asks Ron, even though he's already busying himself with a cocktail glass and mystery spirits.
"I'm trying to take more risks!" she says, eyeing the swirling, colorful liquid forming in her glass as Ron prepares her a surprise drink.
"Ahh, you're a risk-taker now?"
"Yep. At Ginny's encouragement, if you must know."
"Honestly, I'm not sure Ginny is the one to go to for that kind of advice." Ron slides her glass across the bar, topping the fuschia-colored cocktail with a cherry.
"Why not? I'm single and off the grid!"
Ron laughs. "You are the least 'off the grid' person I know. Ginny's getting to you."
Hermione takes a sip to discover the drink is the perfect mix of fruity and bitter. It doesn't taste strong, which is odd considering she saw Ron pour a healthy amount of alcohol.
"What is this?"
"I thought you wanted it to be a surprise."
"I'm just curious."
"Alright, if you must know, it's a love potion. Meant to bring you good fortune. It's quite sad seeing you so helplessly single—"
"Oh shut up," she interrupts, reaching over the bar to jokingly shove Ron in the shoulder.
"Hellooooo," comes a voice from the bar's entrance.
"Speak of the devil." Ron nods toward the front door, from where his sister's just entered.
Ginny takes a seat next to Hermione. "Hey, friend. Hey, brother."
"Long time, no see," says Hermione, facetiously, of course. Ginny and Hermione have worked together at the same editorial — the Daily Prophet — for over a year, but only recently started spending their lunch hours together. Now, they barely go a few hours without seeing each other, and Hermione doesn't mind it one bit.
"Hermione, how's that online dating profile coming along?" Ginny asks, jumping right into where they left off during their lunch conversation.
"It's not."
"Get on it! You've got to get back out there." Ginny reaches for her phone on the bar and starts scrolling through her recent photos. "Here, this is a great photo of you! Make it your tinder profile picture!"
Hermione leans over Ginny's shoulder to see a photo of herself on a patio, sipping away on a glass of wine. The main reason she doesn't like it is that, well, Cormac took it. "No, I look terrible in that one!"
"Ron, would you date Hermione?"
For a moment, Hermione panics, dreading his response, until she realizes Ginny's showing him the photo of her, and the question is hypothetical.
Still, she watches for his reaction.
Ron doesn't answer, instead, he splutters a few times, clearly unsure what to say. His ears turn the same color as her drink.
"I don't know why I'm asking you. Even I'm attracted to this photo," says Ginny, flipping back through Hermione's dating apps before sliding the phone back across the bar to her. "I set it as your profile picture."
"Why can't I just meet someone the old-fashioned way, like in a bar?" groans Hermione, pocketing her phone. She instinctively looks up at Ron, who, for some reason, is still avoiding her eye contact.
"Because these are modern times, and you're not going to meet your dream man sitting across from my brother at The Burrow."
Hermione rolls her eyes just as the doors open again, and two blonde men walk in. One is quite tall and fit, the other a bit shorter and scrawnier. They might even be brothers.
"Hey, Ron, where do you want us to put these?" says the taller, more handsome one. Both men carry a cart full of kegs with the name Macmillan Brewing emblazoned on the side, which Hermione recognizes from The Burrow's various beer selections.
"Oh hey, Ernie," says Ron in a neutral voice before nearly screeching, "What's up, Dragon Claw!"
"Hi, Ron!" Ron and the shorter blonde man-child start an elaborate handshake, complete with butt-wiggles and chest bumps.
Ernie catches Hermione's eye and smirks. "Never seen you here before! I'm Ernie Macmillan! My father owns Macmillan Brewing, and we supply The Burrow!"
"Oh, that's great!" says Hermione. She shakes his extended hand and wonders if Ernie might be a good interview candidate for the food and drink section of the Daily Prophet. "Nice to meet you, Ernie."
"And this is Draco—"
"Call me Dragon Claw!" exclaims Draco, now approaching Hermione. She watches on with wide eyes as he pulls himself up onto the bar and slithers toward the other side. Wouldn't it have been easier to walk around the bar?
"Draco's a bit dramatic," says Ernie, as if reading her mind.
"I see. Well, nice to meet you both," says Hermione, shaking Draco's hand.
"Hermione just moved into the loft," interjects Ron as he drags a few of the kegs to the back of the bar, then disappears behind the curtain.
"Great!" says Ernie. "If you ever need someone to show you around the city, let me know! The Macmillans are pretty well connected," he adds with a wink.
Hermione glances to the back, where Ron is still busying himself unloading kegs, unaware of their conversation.
"I'm not actually new to the area," she starts, but stops when Ginny elbows her. "Yeah. I'd love to spend some time with you."
"Awesome. Well, Ron can give you my number, then! Talk soon!" he says, beaming. "Let's go, Dragon Claw!"
Ernie and Draco hurry off back through The Burrow's front doors, just as Ron reappears behind the bar.
"Oooh, Hermione!" says Ginny, smirking at her. "He's attractive."
"He seems a bit, I don't know, pompous."
"So, he's perfect for casual sex. You won't get attached."
Hermione takes another long swig of her drink to finish it off, and the creeping pink on Ron's cheeks doesn't go unnoticed.
"I guess you're right," she says.
"Hey Ron, can you give that guy Hermione's number?"
Ron clears his throat and raises his eyebrows. "That guy?"
Hermione nods. "He seems cool."
Ron smiles, and if Hermione's not mistaken, there's a bit of mischief to his grin. "Great. He'll be so excited."
Her heart sinks at Ron's apparent excitement for her to go out on a date. She smiles, and in the most neutral voice she can muster, "Thank you, Ron."
"You're welcome, Hermione." His tone is stiff, almost forced as he pours three shots, one for himself, Hermione, and Ginny. "To being off the grid."
Hermione holds up her shot glass, as does Ginny, and makes eye contact with Ron for the first time since they were alone that night. "To being off the grid!"
x
Hermione's putting the last finishing touches on her makeup when her phone buzzes and nearly falls from the bathroom vanity. It's Ernie again, responding to her previous text.
"Who's the message from?" asks Ginny from Hermione's bedroom. "Is it Ernie?"
Usually, Hermione would tell her to hush up, but since the loft is currently empty, there are no nosy roommates to butt in and question her about her new 'love interest.'
"We've been texting all day," answers Hermione, exiting the bathroom to poke her head into her bedroom. "He seems really excited!"
"Well, he should be!" says Ginny, eyeing Hermione up and down. "He's a lucky dude."
Hermione's wearing a black mini skirt, a low-cut white blouse, and heels. They're only an inch high, but she still has trouble walking in them. She doesn't mind, though — it's been a while since she's put much effort into dressing up for a date night. Most of her 'dates' with Cormac were of the 'Netflix and chill' variety, and the only dressing up he expected was something easy to remove.
"Do I look okay?"
"You look amazing," says Ginny.
Hermione's gaze travels toward the loft's front door. For the most part, she's grateful that the loft is empty. Ron still isn't back from his shift at the bar, and part of Hermione wants to see him before she leaves for her date.
Well, more accurately, she wants him to see her. Before she can fully unpack that thought, her phone buzzes again, and this time, Ernie's message strikes her as particularly bold.
'Can't wait to demonstrate my skill in the kitchen! Then maybe later, you'll see my skill in a different room.'
Her heart pounds against her chest at the thought of sleeping with Ernie. She's excited, of course, it's been too long, but part of her is bothered by the fact that she doesn't particularly like him. Maybe it's because he's too talkative, and she feels like she can hardly muster a text back before he moves onto another subject. That might translate poorly to verbal conversation. It could also be the way he looks. He's attractive enough, but something is off. It's probably the hair — too blonde. Or, maybe she just needs to get to know someone before being attracted to them.
There could be many reasons. But she's off the grid, and what else are her twenties for if not trying new things? Sometimes 'new things' are as simple as casual sex with a stranger.
Ginny must notice her befuddled expression. "What's wrong, Hermione?"
"His texts are getting raunchier, Ginny. Honestly, I'm kind of nervous." Hermione squints at the screen as another message pops up, burying the boldness of the prior one. "He's asking if I have any dietary restrictions."
"Saucy," laughs Ginny.
"No, I'm serious! What's a hot way to say that I don't feel sexy if I've had a lot of cheese?"
Her phone buzzes again. 'Also, what are you wearing?'
"How do I respond to this?" she tilts the screen toward Ginny, who beams.
"Respond with a simple, 'or not wearing,'" Ginny states confidently.
"Good one," says Hermione, dictating her response. "Or not wearing. Because sex happens naked. Send!" She glances back at Ginny to gauge her reaction. She's new to sexting, after all.
Ginny looks horrified. "Give me your phone," she says, reaching for Hermione's device.
"Why?"
"You need to be more subtle. Don't be so direct."
Hermione hands over her phone, and Ginny starts typing away. "LOL, just kidding. Get ready for the best night of your life."
Ginny hands her phone back, and Hermione immediately starts typing again. More subtle, she can do that. "What about, 'It might even be the last night of your life because my body kills.' Send."
Ginny groans. "You didn't send that—"
Hermione looks down at her sent message. "Oh no. Autocorrect changed 'body' to 'meat bar.'"
"Let's just stop texting him for now," says Ginny. "Dazzle him in person."
Hermione closes out the screen and places her phone on her bedside table next to her purse. "I haven't been on a date for a long time."
"It's not a date, just a hook-up, right? The stakes are low, and he's obviously thrilled about it," Ginny says, motioning toward Hermione's phone.
"Right," says Hermione.
Ginny stands up from the bed and approaches her, gently placing her hands on Hermione's shoulders. "Listen. You've got this. You're beautiful, and you better believe it. Just because Cormac didn't see it doesn't mean Ernie won't. Seriously, look how excited those messages are. He practically texts you back within a second, and he's still texting you even though autocorrect changed 'body' to 'meat bar.'"
Hermione glances back at her phone, blinking bright with another message. "You're right. It's just casual, right?"
"Right."
"I can do this. It'll be fun."
"Yes, you can. You'll have a great time, I'm sure. I can't wait to hear all about it," she adds with a wink.
"What are you going to do all night?"
"Oh, I'll probably hang out with Harry." Hermione can see the uncanny resemblance to her brother when Ginny's ears tinge pink. She's been at the loft a lot, and Hermione knows that it's not because of her.
"Is there something going on there?" she asks, trying to keep her voice neutral.
"It's just casual," Ginny shrugs. There's something wistful in her voice, like maybe she doesn't want it to be just casual. Hermione thinks that Ginny and Harry would make a great couple. She wonders what Ron would say about it.
"Also, don't mention it to Ron," adds Ginny, as if she can read her mind. "I have a feeling he'd be weird about it."
Oddly, something about being told not to tell Ron makes Hermione want to. She imagines them giggling over a beer, gossiping about their budding romance. Not that anything like that would ever happen. Ron and Hermione are reluctant friends, at best. Right?
"I won't say anything."
Ginny beams. "Now, go get laid!"
x
Punctual as always, Hermione arrives at Ernie's apartment five minutes earlier than she expected and takes the extra time to check her hair in the mirror by the elevator. She assures herself she looks fine, even though it's always a bit jarring to see herself all dressed up. She can't help but wonder what Ron would think of her heels, mini-skirt, and straightened hair.
To put an end to overthinking, she taps on Ernie's door, holding her breath until she hears footsteps shuffling toward her from inside the apartment. Why isn't she more excited?
The door swings open, and Hermione takes a step back, blinking in surprise at the person before her.
"Oh. Draco. Hi."
"YES!" he exclaims, punching his tiny fist into the air. "You're so pretty!"
"Oh, thank you." He opens the door wider so Hermione can enter the apartment. "Is Ernie home?"
"Just you and me tonight!" he exclaims. "I'm making dragon food!"
Hold up. No Ernie? Ron gave her number to Draco?
"Just you and me?" she asks tentatively. Ron could NOT have thought she wanted to date Draco.
"When Ron told me you wanted my number, I was SO EXCITED! Look at you! You're like a nine point eight!"
"I'm a what?"
"Nine point eight out of ten!"
Is he rating her?
"What do you mean by that, Draco?" Her voice stiffens, and she hopes for his sake he doesn't ask her for his score on the scale.
"You're so pretty, but there's always room for improvement."
"Wow, that's uh. That's really rude—"
"Just kidding! You're perfect," he bellows, making her jump. Then, leaning in for a whisper, he says, "I can't wait to see your meat bar."
Then, even by his own standards, Draco does something odd. He drops to his stomach and starts slithering toward the kitchen like a snake. "What are you doing, Draco?"
"Do you know why they call me Dragon Claw?" he responds, ignoring her question.
"No, I don't."
With swift, child-like agility, Draco hops back to his feet, turns around, and lifts up the back of his shirt, exposing a sloppy, faded claw tattoo on his lower back. "I got this tattoo for free!"
"It's… very nice."
"When I do this," he says, arching his back to compress the tattoo "it's retracting the claw," and when I do this, he continues, tucking his hips to stretch the claw, "it's protracting. Like a dragon's claw. Do you see it?"
"Yes, yes I do, Draco."
Draco gyrates his hips a few more times for good measure. "Protracting. Retracting. Protracting. Retracting."
"Yep," says Hermione, fumbling into her pocket for her phone. She has a few words for a certain red-headed someone.
"Do you want to do something fun?"
"Um, sure," she mumbles, already distracted by her phone as sche scrolls for Ron's number.
"Okay!" Draco flops back on his stomach and army-crawls into his bedroom. "In here!"
"Be right there," she says as she types out her text to Ron.
'RONALD BILIUS WEASLEY. WHAT DID YOU DO?'
"Hermione!" says Draco from his bedroom.
She gives herself a second to calm down. She knows she should set Draco straight, but he doesn't seem to be the type to take rejection well. He's also so excited to be on a date — he probably doesn't go on many — and he might be devastated. She doesn't really want to hurt him, but she'd prefer it over joining him in the bedroom. This is all Ron's fault.
At the thought, her phone buzzes again. She glances at the text message to find it's from Ron — three simple emojis: a dragon, an eggplant, and a winky face.
Hermione takes a deep breath, preparing to straighten this out. She needs to let Draco down gently and get back home to the loft to give Ron a piece of her mind.
When she enters the bedroom, Draco has ditched his shirt and is sprawled out on the bed. "Do you know what gets me in the mood, Hermione?"
Hermione sighs — and shudders. "I can't say that I do, Draco. Look, I need to tell you s—"
"Visualization!" he squeals. "Close your eyes!"
"Draco—"
'Imagine you're on Mars," he starts. Hermione arches an eyebrow at him but his eyes are shut, and he's oblivious to her reaction. "You go to a magical school called Pigfarts."
"Pigfarts?"
"Yes, Pigfarts!"
"I don't want to go to a school called Pigfarts. Draco, we really need to—"
"I think you do, Hermione. It's the only way to meet Rumble Roar!"
"Draco, I need to tell you something," interrupts Hermione, but her curiosity wins her over. "Wait, who is Rumble Roar?"
Draco pats the bed covers next to him and whispers, "if you play your cards right, you'll find out soon enough."
No. This has to end. Now.
Hermione lets out a cough, giving it her best attempt to sound genuine. "Draco, I'm sick."
At her admission, he rises to a seat. "Oh no! My Mama Dragon's feeling under the weather?"
Mama Dragon?
"Yes. Yes, I am. I'm so sick. I don't want to spread anything to you so—"
"That's disappointing," says Draco, sliding off the bed. "I can get out my thermometer. I have a really accurate one."
"No, that's okay," she says, backing away from him. She doesn't want to think of what an accurate thermometer means. "I know my body, and I'm definitely running a fever. I should go."
"We can reschedule! Text me!" he says, moving toward her for an embrace, but Hermione's already halfway toward the front door.
"Yes, I'll text you!" she lies, grabbing her purse and jacket by the entry. She hurries out of the apartment and breathes a sigh of relief when the door swings shut.
x
Hermione runs into Ron, lounging on the living room sofa when she returns from her date. He appears to be the only one home, and at first, she's relieved that he's at the loft and not 'out,' whatever that entails.
But, her relief morphs into anger when he smirks at her and laughs through a mouthful of ice cream. "How was your date?"
"Shut up."
"Why? It didn't go well?" he presses, reaching for the remote control to pause the television and swinging his legs off of the coffee table.
"What do you think?" Hermione drops her purse on the entryway table and kicks off her shoes before storming toward her bedroom.
Ron follows, eyeing his watch. "Well, you're back a bit earlier than expected, so I'm assuming that you two didn't… you know… make dragon babies."
"I don't want to talk to you right now," she says, although she struggles to suppress a laugh, especially when Ron looks positively delighted.
"I'm honestly sorry it didn't work out," says Ron, taking a seat on her bed. "You two would have made a great couple." He props his High School Musical themed socks up onto the bed, and Hermione can't help but smile at how comfortable he seems there.
Attempting to mask her smile, Hermione narrows her eyes at him. "Why did you give Dragon Claw my number?"
"You asked me to," responds Ron matter-of-factly.
"I wanted you to give it to Ernie!" she exclaims, even though it's clear by Ron's smirk that he already knows this.
"Gross! Ernie's so lame! Why would you want to date him?" he whines. "You can do so much better, Hermione."
"I can do so much better? Like Dragon Claw?"
"Well, you could have, but I think you burned that bridge."
"He said I was a nine point eight out of ten because there's always room for improvement."
Ron laughs heartily. "Not quite good enough to meet Rumble Roar?"
"Get out!" says Hermione, pointing toward her bedroom door. How does he know about Rumble Roar? She shudders to imagine what kind of conversations Ron has in the back of the bar with his keg delivery men.
Sighing, Ron rises to his feet, and for a moment, Hermione laments the now empty space on her bed. "For the record," he says over his shoulder, "he wouldn't know a ten if it slapped him in the face."
Ron shuffles out the door, and in frustration, Hermione buries her face into her pillow and groans, the memory of Ron's teasing fresh on her mind.
Did he just call her a ten? She replays their last conversation in her head. He wouldn't know a ten if it slapped him in the face.
Just the thought of it makes her palms sweat and her heart rate spike, something that definitely didn't happen before when she was standing outside what she thought was Ernie's door.
No. He didn't mean to call her a ten.
That probably wasn't even about her, and it's better not to overthink it.

The One With The Candy Hearts Part Two (Bryan)
Bryan may or may not be loosely based off of Jared Padalecki, sorry not sorry. But that is who I am imagining, you are free to imagine anyone. We are here to have fun and enjoy ourselves!
Last Part (Part One), Series Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was later in the evening; Ross was off doing his own thing, Chandler was with Joey on his stupid date, and you were over at Monica and Rachel’s with Phoebe and instead of going out the four of you decided that it would be more fun if you all cooked, so as Monica and Rachel got the salad ready you were over at the stove stirring so the delicious smelling meal that you had wouldn’t burn while Phoebe set the table. As you four got everything ready, some how to topic of horrible ex-boyfriends came up. “Okay, okay, Roger was creepy but he was nothing compared to Pete Carney.” Rachel said to all of you.
“Which one was Pete Carney?” Monica asked her as you made your way back over to the table to take a sip of your beer.
“Pete the weeper. Remember the guy that used to cry every time we had sex? ‘Was it good for yooou.’” Rachel played back as she pretended to be Pete Carney, which made you cringe. You could not even imagine how awkward that would be.
“Yeah, well I would take a little crying any day over Howard the “I Win” guy.” Monica told her as she thought of her own awkward experience. “I win! I win!” Monica threw up her arms as she deepened her voice to mock the man of her own. “I went out with the guy for two months. I didn’t get to win once.” She complained as she turned to get something. You were never one to share what went on when you were in the bedroom but you didn’t find yourself caring if Rachel, Phoebe, or Monica knew. The four of you were just that close.
“You know, Joey never really had any issue when it came to that kind of stuff. Actually, he was amazing.” You told them as you smiled at the many many memories of Joey and you in his bed, you bit on your bottom lip but immediately shook it out of your head when you remembered what happened in the coffee house that morning. “But then he has the audacity to go out with another girl not even a week after he broke up with me because he “wanted to do the right thing.” You quoted but found yourself rolling your eyes as the girls scoffed and shook their heads along with you. “I mean give me a break.” You scoffed as well.
“But he did treat you really well,” Phoebe tried to get you to look on the bright side when you looked back on how much of a jerk he was today, which you found yourself agreeing with her on that one.
“How do we end up with these jerks!? I mean we’re good people.” Rachel woed as she shaved the carrot into the salad bowl.
“I don’t know, maybe we’re like some kind of magnets.” Monica joked as she joined the three of you back at the table as she shook and opened the salad dressing. You and Rachel nodded with her, acknowledging her joke.
“I know I am. That’s why I can’t wear a digital watch.” Phoebe ended up speaking literally, even though it still made no sense. Which was why Monica, Rachel, and you found yourselves just staring down at her in confusion.
“There’s more beer, right?” Monica asked, realizing that she wasn’t drunk enough to take on Phoebe.
“God, I hope so.” You spoke as you walked back over to the pot and deemed what was in it good enough to be done, so you turned off the flame. You and Rachel looked at each other as she started to wash her hands in the sink, smiling and shaking your heads at your dear friend Phoebe.
“Oh! You know my friend Abby who shaves her head?” Phoebe asked as she had gotten an idea. The three of you nodded. “She says that if you want to break the bad boyfriend cycle you can do, like, a cleansing ritual.”
“Pheebs, this woman is voluntarily bald.” Rachel told Phoebe, as her way to tell her friend that she was still skeptical.
“Yeah,” She nodded and smiled up at Rachel. “So, we can do it tomorrow night, guys. It’s Valentine’s Day. It’s perfect.”
“Okay. Well, what kind of ritual?” Monica hesitantly asked, hoping that it wasn’t going to be too crazy.
“Okay.” Phoebe stood up. “We can burn the stuff they gave us.”
“Or?” Rachel asked, since it seemed like Phoebe had more to offer.
“Or...or we can chant and dance around naked. You know, with sticks.” You looked up at Phoebe with fear of that one wondering where it came from.
“Burnings good.” Monica, Rachel, and you agreed.
“Wait a second guys,” you started before they all went back to their small tasks for dinner. “Joey wasn’t that bad was he?” You asked, because you didn’t think Joey was that bad of a boyfriend, sure there were stuff about him that got on your nerves but he wasn’t bad.
“No,” they all said. “Just the way that he’s dealing with the break up in front of you is left to be desired.” Monica said for all of them, which was good. At least you weren’t the only one who thought that he had moved on very quickly considering how much Joey said that he was in love with you.
*********
It was a little bit later and you had left Monica and Rachel’s, and Phoebe was at the coffee house with you but she was off in the bathroom, so for now it was just you sitting at the table since the couch area was taken. Your butt was uncomfortable, but hey a seat was a seat you guessed. While Phoebe had been in the restroom you had been going through your books and studying for your exam that you had at the end of the week. You were studying, but knew you were probably going to be fine because you had aced the other ones you had taken, who knew that you would do well in this. Well you did of course.
“Excuse me?” You heard a deep masculine voice ask from right next to you. So you went to look up at who walked up to you, but all words were immediately lost when you saw the tall and very, very handsome man standing above you and smiling at you with the most beautiful hazel eyes. “Is this seat taken?” The man asked, gesturing to the seat across from your own. Phoebe’s stuff was still there, and you even saw her come back out of the corner of your eye. But it seemed your lady parts was doing all the talking here, (why did I just think that?). You shook your head at yourself at how lame you sounded, but the man just looked confused at you.
“Sorry, no it’s not taken.” You told him and he sat down. You didn’t notice Phoebe’s jaw dropping in surprise, but then she decided that she would let you have this one so she just went over to the counter for now. “But you can take a seat.” You smiled sweetly up at him.
“Thank you, I’m Bryan, by the way.” The man introduced himself as he sat down across from you. His legs were so long that he couldn’t fit them comfortably under the table. Which made you smile to yourself and cast your eyes down for a second.
“I’m Y/N,” you introduced yourself and took the hand that he held out for you to shake.
“So, I was sitting over there with my friends,” he nodded over to where he and his friends were sitting and you looked over as he did an adorable thing where he smiled and chuckled a little when he saw you look over to see if it was true, which checked out.
“Uh huh?” You questioned with an eyebrow raised as you looked back over at him waiting for him to continue.
“And they saw me looking over at you so they kept hounding me to come over here and talk to you,”
“Which is going very well, I must say.” You chuckled and rested your hand on your chin. He smiled so brightly at you, you swore you got lost.
“So, would you like to get dinner or something some time?” He asked you.
“Wait a minute, this isn’t like some Valentine’s Day thing where you hit on some girl to get her to go out with her when she’s feeling her most lonely day and then never call her again?” You asked jokingly, but you were serious about it in the back of your mind.
“What? Of course not?” His face dropped, totally serious. “But if it makes you feel better we could do it on not Valentine’s Day.”
“I think we can definitely do that, thank you.” You smiled at him, but then he started to get up.
“Awesome, I’ll see you then, Y/N.” Has he like never asked a girl out before.
“Uh, Bryan?” You called and he turned around to look down at you and put his hands in his jean pockets. “You might need to actually call me, so we know where we’re going and stuff, you know?” You told him as you lifted a piece of paper with your phone number on it.
“Right, sorry!” His hand shook as he took the paper from you. “Just really nervous.” Bryan told you under his breath which made you chuckle. “I’ll call you then?”
“Okay,” you nodded.
“Have a good night, Y/N.” He smiled at you.
“You too,” you told him and he walked away to join his friends once more as Phoebe came back over to sit by you.
“Ooh, who was that?” Phoebe asked as she couldn’t help but check him out herself.
“Bryan.” You told since that was all you knew.
“He asked you out, for Valentine’s Day, can’t believe him.” Phoebe already thought what you were trying to prevent that.
“Oh, no. I already said no Valentine’s Day. Plus we have that burning ritual thing tomorrow.” You told her as she nodded her head at you and your smartness.
“I don’t think Joey’s going to like it.” Phoebe muttered trying to get to worked up, she wanted to help you move on.
“I don’t care, he wanted me to get to know New York, and you know what. I’m going to get to know it, I am SO going to get to know it!” You yelled. “Oh, but not like that.” You told her not wanting to look like slut.
“Not that there would be anything wrong with that,” Phoebe spoke even though she agreed with you.
“I’ll drink to that.” You nodded as you and Phoebe clinked your coffee mugs against the others.

hey hey hey 📝
Hey you 🥰 Let me tell you straight away there's more than one because I'm a sucker for your fics and I will absolutely read all the one I haven't read yet because I just know they're good. I just know it. Same, my absolute favorite is in blue! 💙
@murdertoothpick
________
young volcanoes
Of course I love this one, Fives' fic AND Fall Out Boy?? I knew you would come up with something awesome but this... This is absolutely wonderful.
I just love the delight, the comfort in knowing that the war is over, and there will be no more fight to the death for the clones. For these men who will finally do something else than die; they will finally live.
It's not until Echo nudged him that Fives sees you approach the ramp with quick feet, colliding into him with a force so strong that he stumbles back a little, and yet, it's the most grounded he's felt in a long time.
Again, I screamed a very real scream when I read that. It's sad; but also beautiful, to be the one person that grounds him and offers him enough comfort and care and that feeling of safety-
'Don't ever let me go,' you press into him, and the way he squeezes you just a little tighter makes you melt.
It does make me melt. I am a puddle. This quote alone cured my anxiety. No but; for real; I just love these silent moments. I am very vocal about my emotions and feelings for the people I care about; but sometimes words aren't enough, or argent quite right so we turn to these silent exchanges - a look, a pression, a touch - something to let you know it's okay. I love that.
Fives meets Jesse with a proud grin, his hold on you relenting except for the one arm he keeps around your waist. 'Not tonight vod,' he breathes, meeting your eyes as you turn to face his brother, 'I'm going home.'
And Fives' words repeat softly in your head. He's going home. […]
That home is wherever the other is. It is the one thing that perseveres beyond the war. It is the one constant Fives' has ever had the choice to have, the one thing you'd never give up for anything.
This. This is it.
Being someone's home is so personal and meaningful. The trust, the care, the feeling of safety- everything that comes with the fact that you are someone's home.
And for it to be a constant in a life and a galaxy where everything keeps changing?? It's the same energy as Ari's fic It's been a long, long time.
It's comforting, and it gives me hope. This is the essence of Star Wars - hope - and you depicted it so perfectly.
I am honestly amazed and in love with this fic. (And Fives.)
.
at least, percentage wise
This one was a bit painful but also tender; let me explain.
'Hunter sold me as a droid today.'
He continues, 'I know he doesn't think of me like that but...it was hard enough being treated as a clone and now...I don't know what I even am.'
This. Is very painful.
I absutely love Echo, right. I adore him, he's awesome and handsome and kind and funny and he's Echo.
Yet he doesn't know that. He doesn't know who he is anymore- "what" he is.
What. That's so painfully sad. Like I said clones are already caught in this sort of identity crisis because what are they? Clones? Soldiers? Men? Brothers? Humans?
And now. Now Echo isn't even sure he fits the last category anymore. And it honestly pains me when people call him "android" or "droid man" because he already feels so self-conscious about this. And yes- he has prosthetics and robotics implants- but never should he be considered less of a human because of them. He's still Echo. He's still human.
He changed, but he's still Echo.
His next words are whispered, afraid of receiving an answer. 'Tell me you'd love me more if I weren't...' the words catch in his throat, 'this.'
And this is the moment where I tear up because.
This.
I can hear it. I can hear the pain and the fear in his voice and it honestly breaks. My heart.
How deeply rooted is his self-consciousness? How deep does the self-hatred run for him to think so little of himself??
I hate it here it just makes me so angry and sad for him.
My handsome boy deserves BETTER.
'You handsome man,' you jest, blessing him with a short kiss on the lips. 'You ready to sleep now?.'
I love this because I always call Echo "my handsome boy" or "handsome boy" and that's 1. Because he IS handsome like have you seen the man?? And 2. Because I believe if he hears it all the time he will slowly but surely believe it. He will accept that he's handsome and maybe feel less self- conscious about his body and himself...
I just need him to feel loved and beautiful because he is.
And I mean... Soft. Domestic. "You ready to sleep now?" is something you tell to someone in such a casual yet caring way and I am absolutely here for it.
This fic is just- I would react the same way reader did. It's so obvious to me he's absolutely trustworthy and nice and smart and handsome- he's filled with qualities and so many reasons to love him and care for him.
I mean- Echo. He alone is a valid argument.
Anyway, this fic just has me feeling much love for Echo and you made me fall for him again;;
.
push and pull
'Tsk, why won't you do what I say?'
I read that in his voice every. Single. Time. That's just- so him. 100% pure Crosshair content here.
And "the little umbrella" thing? Tech's remark on the food?
These little funny moments are so soft and a nice contrast to the sometimes sad undertone of the fic! I love that!
'I...like being close to you.'
'It's hard enough letting you in. I don't want my brothers thinking I've gone...soft.'
This. This is also very Crosshair. He's not very vocal, and to see him struggle a bit to confess what's really going on and feel awkward and embarrassed about it is just-
Great. In a sweet way. And the way you write him so well, so accurately-
Yes. 100% yes.
.
somewhere only we know
Alright. This fic right here is, I believe, the first one I read from you. At least it marked me enough for me to remember it as the first one.
Anna. This fic right here is. You made me cry. You had me crying while reading it because it's just.
The song alone is already- you know, very bittersweet and nostalgic in a way; and you managed to write something so perfect it's- it's not the fic matching the song. It's the song matching the fic.
I read it again to write this review - with the song on loop obviously - and I got tears again. It's just that powerful.
But your anxiety melts away as he gives you a slight smile, offering his hand to you, 'You'll have to lead the way.' […] He would always trust you, he has never felt otherwise.
I can't even explain how meaningful that it. It means so much to him, and he knows; and you do too. There's a level of trust and intimacy here.
'Just...hold me.'
Don't ask me why, but reader saying this is low-key making me emotional.
'Do you want this?', he murmurs, […].
You take an agonisingly long time to reply, your eyes flit between his, searching for any sign of hesitation, or regret. But you don't find any, as much as Crosshair is good at hiding his emotions behind an impassive and collected facade, you see the silent plea in his eyes, a longing for more.
Tears. Very real tears. The care and respect and trust and love this question alone holds. It's just. So delicate and soft, I just-
And then-
'Are you sure?' he whispers, so close to you, basking in this intimacy.
Girl if you wanted to make me cry you just had to say it, right? Like, don't mind me I'm a sucker for this; being so intimate and respectful of your partner that's like- everything.
Honestly that's what everyone deserves.
He lets out a light laugh, it's beautiful, reverberating deep in your heart, a sound so rare that you try hard to commit it—and the way he looks—to memory.
I promise you...
The candlelight surrounds your face in a halo-like glow like you were sent from heaven. It's a blessing.
...you hold my heart. This is poetry. This is art. This is comforting and lovely. And I am tearing up once again.
Your next words are meek, whispered, hidden away from the outside world, but you bare your soul to him anyways.
You almost don't hear it, but the way the words vibrate against your skin as he spills himself inside you makes it impossible for them not to be heard.
You wrote the words; but honestly I didn't even needed to read them to cry. It's just so vulnerable. They are both in a situation were they are literally and metaphorically naked, and there's nothing else but them - everything else fades away without them noticing and it's just.
Them.
And they allow themselves to be so vulnerable, finally, after all the build-up and the obstacles of the war and the downfall of the galaxy and the chip. After loosing each other and finding their way back to each other.
And finally allowing themselves to be so vulerable, so exposed to each other-
Brb gotta cry some more.
He takes one of your hands in his, pressing a featherlight kiss to your knuckles. 'Just getting you a cloth Cya'rika.'
Your mouth opens in an Oh, and you gingerly nod at him. 'Okay, sorry,' you give him the most beautiful smiles he's ever seen, and there's a part of him that has changed its mind about leaving you even for a second.
I can't even. Explain. How sweet this is. No words can express what I'm feeling as I read this. The comfort. The reassuring tone. The f**king Mando'a nickname.
Your arms open pathetically when he lets go of you, an invite for him to join you under the covers. But he looks at you in pure adoration, a sight that's so peaceful, so domestic, that he finds himself letting his mind wander, imagining that this temporary room was a home, a place where he could spend the rest of his days with you, away from war and the empire.
My heart is aching. A lot. It's so peaceful yet so tragic in a way, but they don't see that. Again, it's just them; this moment of intimacy, of domestic life where nothing else matter but what they are sharing right now.
Somewhere only we know.
.
alone together
This fic is awesome. I love the dynamic between reader and Crosshair, there's this very obvious alchemy between them and you manage to write about it with limited dialogue and amazing descriptions. I am absolutely in awe.
Also- Confident Reader? Love that! Especially in a Crosshair fic! And it's great because we also see a glimpse of Crosshair having self-esteem issues, so there's a sort of shift where for once Crosshair doesn't have the "upper hand" and reader isn't all shy and flustered you know (though I absolutely love these kind of fics too!)
But yeah- their dynamic was really interesting!

Another Crosshair fic because I love him and you really write him so well and in-character.
'I like...hearing your heartbeat.'
This little hesitation is everything. And it's so... So personal and delicate.
Someone's heartbeat. That's life pulsing through their body. That's very symbolic too; we usually link strong feelings like love and care to the heart, and to lay there with someone and enjoy listening to that life pulsing-
Yeah I'm getting soft again
'I'm not moving,' he grumbles, pressing himself further into you and sighing in relief.
This is so lovely; him holding on tighter because he doesn't want to move, because he feels good here and that's the best way he found to let you know...
I just love your takes on Soft!Crosshair, you really know what you're writing about.
.
hands meet
I tried to draw Hunter. With the sunglasses and the shirt and him trying to be cool.
I shall do that drawing again because it's absolutely HILARIOUS and I just adore this fic because it's so light-hearted and sweet and funny!
It's a feel-good fic, the one you read when you need to clear your head a bit; and I promise you the laugh I had reading it!
And I just love the dynamic between Hunter and reader; it's awkward yet there's a lot of alchemy and you just know they do like each other a lot and are just struggling to express it directly.
That's very sweet and I love that.
Love it.
________
So yeah! Again, it was longer than expected but I am not sorry because you deserve to know how much I love these fics and how you also hold my heart in your hands with these.
You're an amazing - incredible - writer and I love how you bring these very human and realistic elements to your stories. It just makes them even more relatable and enjoyable, even if sometimes it's painful, and that's what I love so much about your writing.
Also I absolutely love how you incorporate lyrics between in your writings
Anyway- love u Anna, love your writing, you're amazing!!

Blind Date

Note: just an idea I had, hope you like it. some soft fluffiness, but also smut bc I’m still h word for Jake, especially after how he looked tonight on tv.
Pairing: Jake Tapper x reader
 Warnings: smut, NSFW

(sorry for eventual typos, I wrote this in a bit of a frenzy)
enjoy
Tumblr media

“You look horrible. “Abby stated matter-of-factly as she sat down in the restaurant chair across from you.
“I missed you too, great to see you, thanks. “you responded, not even bothering to argue with her.
Abby was your best friend since college, if she said you looked horrible it was either a joke or a fact. Considering the way she was looking at you, probably the latter.
“Hard week at work?”
You let out a tired huff.
“You have no idea. We got this new client who booked us for a nation-wide tv ad, and they’re so incredibly demanding. I’ve been working overtime for three weeks straight, it’s a miracle they didn’t call me in today.”
Your monthly Saturday brunch with Abby was sacred, work be damned.
Your friend was giving you a worried look across the table. “Well, I’m glad they didn’t, you deserve a day off.”
“Enough of my sad life, how is it going over at Fake News?” you joked.
“Amazing actually. You won’t believe it, but I’ve heard through the grapevine that they’re thinking about offering me John’s Sunday spot on Inside Politics. Can you imagine, my own hour, as an actual anchor. It’s nothing official yet, but I’m so excited.”
“Oh my god, Abby, that’s awesome. I’m so proud of you. We should celebrate.” you exclaimed, beckoning a waiter to order two glasses of champagne.
Abby gave you a warm smile.
“Thank you, babe. But let me be honest, I’m worried about you. You look exhausted, even your voice sounds tired. When was the last time you did something actually relaxing?”
“I’ve watched a movie, like, a week ago. And I do yoga, at least sometimes.” You tried to argue, not entirely sure if you wanted to convince Abby or yourself.
A smirk settled over your friend’s face, and she looked at you like she just had the most brilliant idea ever. You did not like that look at all, it usually meant trouble.
“Well todays your lucky day, because I know just what you need to de-stress a bit.”
You just raised an eyebrow at her.
“Care to elaborate, genius?”
“You, my friend, need to get laid.”

You snorted. “Fun times, Abbs, you almost got me,”

“I’m serious, Y/N, when was the last time you had sex?”
“Okay, it’s been a while, but I’m fine. I don’t need a man to interfere with the little free time I have. And it’s not like the streets are full of men chasing me. I don’t have time to date, and, like I said, I’m totally fine with the way things are at the moment.” You tried your very best not to sound defensive.
The expression on Abby’s face told you everything you needed to know. She didn’t buy a single word coming out of your mouth.
“Y/N, trust me when I tell you, blowing off a little steam would do wonders for your stress level. And maybe you’d even meet someone nice. And, lucky for you, I know just the guy. He’s someone I work with, and I think you’d get along perfectly.”
“You’re not actually suggesting setting me up on a blind date.” You couldn’t believe your friend. The last thing you needed was an evening full of awkward small talk with some boring, sleek CNN guy.
“Come on, Y/N, take a leap of faith. What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
+++
 (One week later)
“I can’t believe I actually agreed.” You murmured to yourself as you rummaged through your closet, looking for an outfit to wear on that damned date Abby bullied you into.
You thought about the peaceful evening you could have had, curled up on the sofa with a glass of wine, maybe getting some work done.
But it was too late to back down now.
“Let’s just get this over with” you told yourself, applying some lipstick as if it was war paint. “Let’s hope that the guy is at least good-looking.”
The restaurant Abby sent you to was nice enough, a small and intimate place, perfect for a date. You couldn’t wait to have your first glass of wine, because you could feel your nervousness increasing with each passing minute.
You entered the restaurant, looking for the third table on the window side that Abby had described to you…and directly turned around, practically fleeing through the door again as soon as you set eyes on the man sitting there.
Back outside, you took your phone out of your bag and furiously dialed Abby’s number. She picked up right away, but you were shouting at her before she could even say a word.
“You better tell me that you did not set me up with Jake fucking Tapper.”
Was she out of her mind? This was the Jake Tapper, the face of CNN, hell, the face of the media in this country. What the fuck were you supposed to talk to him about.
But your friend just chuckled at you through the phone.
“When you saw him on TV some months ago, you said he was your type. Plus, he’s intelligent, funny, and single. Perfect for you. And now stop making a fool out of yourself and go in there. You got this, girl. Love you, bye.”
And with that, she hung up.
You took a deep breath and tried to calm your nerves. You could not just leave now, and stand up Mr. Breaking News himself. So you pocketed your phone again, squared your shoulders and went back into the restaurant.
You made your way over to the table, coming to a stop in front of it. The man sitting there looked up to you and smiled. And wow, what a beautiful smile it was, sincere, warm and inviting, taking over his entire face.
“Hi.” You said, trying to sound confident.
“I’m Y/N, Abby’s friend.”

“It’s so nice to meet you, I’m Jake. I’m working with Abby, but she probably already told you that much.”

“She did, but I’ll be honest, I know you, of course. Big fan of your show.”
God, why did you just say that. He was probably going to think you were some kind of crazy fangirl now.
But he just continued to smile his open, friendly smile at you.
“Always happy to hear that.” He chuckled, pointing to the opposite chair. “Do you want to sit down?”
“Yes, of course, sorry.” You said, feeling silly because you totally forgot that you were still standing. You quickly sat down and tried your best to appear calm and collected, even if your insides were in turmoil.
“Would you care for some wine? They have a pretty impressive list, I could pick one for us if you don’t mind.” Jake asked.
“Wine sounds fantastic. I love it, but I’m not really an expert, so go ahead.”
Jake took some reading glasses out of the pocket of his suit jacket and put them on his nose.
While he was studying the wine list, you took your time to study him instead. He appeared to be in his late forties, so there was an age difference of probably 15 to 20 years. You didn’t mind that at all, older men had always been more your type.
He had a really handsome face, kind eyes that looked even better when he had those glasses on, and you loved his salt-and-pepper hair. He was wearing a light blue dress shirt with a dark grey suit jacket. You caught your mind wandering to how he might look underneath his clothes and gave yourself a mental slap on the wrist. This was your first date, no need to get ahead of yourself.
“Everything alright over there?”
Shit, he had caught you staring.
“Yes, sorry, I zoned off for a moment. I had a stressful week at work.”

“Oh, yes, Abby told me you’re working in advertising. Any interesting projects at the moment?”
You went on and chatted about work a bit. You were fascinated by what he was doing, and taken aback by the confident, yet humble way he was talking about it. This was absolutely not the behavior you were expecting from the leading anchorman of the nations most renowned network. He wasn’t arrogant or self-centered at all and you were definitely charmed.
The wine Jake ordered arrived with your starters, and soon after you had your first few sips you felt some of the initial nervousness fading away.
Soon, the conversation was flowing freely, and you discovered that Abby was right, you really did get along perfectly. Jake was incredibly funny in a dry and witty way and his sarcastic remarks made you laugh more than once. You also discovered your shared interest in graphic novels and argued a while about weather DC or Marvel was the superior comic universe.
Jake showed you one of his own cartoons on his phone, and with each moment you found yourself more drawn to the man in front of you.
At some point his hand started to lightly brush against yours on the table, and each touch sent a warm feeling through your chest.
You talked some more over dessert, had some more wine and overall, a really good time.
The alcohol gave you a pleasant, fuzzy feeling, and the desire to just get up and crawl on Jakes lap grew with each look he gave you.
“Excuse me, Ma’am, Sir, were closing up now.” A passing waiter told you and put the check on the table.
“Let me take care of that, please.” Jake said, taking out his wallet. You just thanked him and enjoyed the view of him putting on his glasses again to read the check.
He really was a perfect gentleman, you thought to yourself, as he got up to hold your coat and then the door for you on your way out.

“I really had a wonderful evening.” you said softly, as the both of you were standing on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. Jake shot you another one of his brilliant smiles, and you could feel your heart beating faster.
“Me too.” He replied. “I really enjoyed spending time with you, and I’d like to see you again.”
Now your heart was almost jumping out of your chest, and you could feel your own smile taking over your face.
“I’d love that.”
Jake took one step closer, now standing so close you could almost feel the warmth radiating off his body. One of his hands came up to tuck a lock of hair behind your ear, his thumb slowly stroking over your jaw. His touch sent goosebumps all over your skin, and you slightly parted your lips, looking him directly in the eyes. They were warm, and dark, and you felt like you could get lost in them. And then he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your mouth.
It felt incredible, a kind of warmth that was totally unrelated to the wine spreading through your body, your skin prickling where his hand was still on your face.
You put your hands on his arms and kissed him back, enjoying the feeling of his soft lips against yours. He still tasted slightly like red wine, and you wanted nothing more than to explore the rest of his body with your mouth just as thoroughly.
First date, you reminded yourself, and broke free from the kiss before your lust-clouded brain could make you do something you might regret later. You glanced up at Jake, who looked at you with an unreadable expression. Then, after what felt like forever, he finally spoke.
“Could I maybe have your number?”

“Of course.” You said, with maybe a bit much enthusiasm, but Jake didn’t seem to mind. You quickly typed your number into his phone, and just as you were finished, the cab you had called earlier was arriving.
Jake held the door open for you, and shot you one last, beautiful smile. “Good night, Y/N, get home safe.”
“Thank you for the wonderful evening, Jake. Good night.”
You closed the door and the taxi drove off. You already missed his face as soon as he was out of sight, and you turned around to watch his receding figure through the rear window of the taxi.
Great, you were already down bad after one date. The man really got to you, and you desperately hoped that you would hear from him soon.
As soon as you were home, you really felt the effects of the wine, so you quickly went to bed to get some sleep. Just before you were nodding off, you sent Abby a quick message.

You were right, he is perfect. THANKS xxxx

When Abby answered five minutes later, you were already asleep.
 Told you so ;) xxxx
+++
When you woke up the next morning, there was a new message from an unknown number on your phone. Your heart made a flip in your chest, and you opened it as fast as you could.

Hi, this is Jake. It’s probably way too soon to text you, but I just wanted to let you know, again, what a great time I had yesterday. If you’d be up to it, I’d really like to see you again soon. Let me know if that would be alright with you. And have a nice Saturday :)

He had already texted you. That meant he didn’t think that you were crazy, or awkward, and that he wasn’t just acting nice, he genuinely wanted to see you again. You were filled with a giddy sort of happiness, and decided to answer him right away, there was no need to play any games here. Leap of faith, just like Abby said.

Good Morning Jake, I really enjoyed yesterday as well. I’d love to spend some more time together; would tomorrow evening be too spontaneous? I could make dinner, to return the favor since you paid yesterday ;) my place at eight?

As soon as you hit the send button you started getting anxious again. What if tomorrow was too soon? What if he thought you were being too eager?
“Stop it, Y/N!” you said out loud to interrupt your mental spiral. You wouldn’t make a fool out of yourself for this man, even if he was handsome, and intelligent, and funny. No way.
But as you were standing in the kitchen five minutes later and heard your phone chiming from the other room, you were there in the matter of seconds to read the new message.

Tomorrow sounds perfect, just text me the address. I’ll bring the wine. xx Jake

You clutched your phone to your chest, the biggest, goofy smile on your face.
You spent the remaining day extensively cleaning your flat, stressing out, going grocery shopping and stressing out some more. You face-timed Abby and bullied her into helping you pick out an outfit, since she technically was the one who got you into this mess in the first place.
Jake was occupying your mind whatever you did, and when you finally got into your bed that night, all you could think about was how his lips had felt against yours. Those thoughts sent a hot, burning feeling down between your legs and when you finally touched your pussy, you were already so wet and aroused that it only took you minutes until you reached your peak, Jakes name falling from your lips.
+++
To say you were a nervous wreck the next day would be an understatement. When you woke up, you decided to watch some TV to get yourself a bit of distraction. An ad was currently playing, and so you decided to check your mails first.

“Good Morning from Washington, where the State of our Union is in turmoil over the latest…”

Your head snapped up at the sound of the familiar voice coming from your TV, the voice that occupied your mind ever since your blind date on Friday. You had totally forgotten that Sunday morning meant Jake Tapper time on CNN, because usually you were either asleep or at work at 9 am. But now you took your time to really appreciate the man on your TV.
He looked way more serious than the Jake you got to know, no smile, just a stern expression and a dark suit and tie. Which didn’t mean that he wasn’t looking totally hot, and his intelligent and sharp remarks did nothing to calm your fluttering heart or the heat in your lower abdomen. You definitely wanted him, bad.

This is getting ridiculous, you thought to yourself, and turned the TV off to take a very long shower.
Afterwards, you spent the whole day pacing around your flat and annoying Abby with numerous text messages and another two face time calls. She assured you multiple times that everything would be just fine and by the time it was 7:45 p.m. the food was in the oven and you sat on your couch, waiting for the doorbell to ring.
When it finally did, you all but ran to the door only to stop and force yourself to take a couple of calming breaths before opening it. Jake stood outside, a bottle of red wine in his hand. He looked amazing with his white dress shirt and dark grey slacks, but again it was his smile that got your attention, he looked just as happy to see you as you were feeling.
Out of a sudden impulse, you surged forward and threw your arms around the man, hugging him and burying your head in his chest. He seemed surprised, but still put his free arm around you, embracing you.
“Hi.” You whispered, suddenly shy, but as you looked up to meet Jakes eyes you could see nothing but warmth in them. “Hi.” He replied, pressing a kiss to your hair. “It’s good to see you.”
You slowly let go of him so he could actually enter your apartment. He followed you inside and you fetched some glasses for the wine. You talked about everything and anything over dinner, family, football, the book Jake was working on. You listened closely, and so did he as you told him about your passion for art and music. He even asked you to put some of your favorite records on as you moved over to the couch after dinner.
You were still talking animatedly but having Jake in closer physical proximity made it increasingly hard to focus on what he was saying.
Instead, your eyes and mind wandered to his hands. Without thinking, you reached out and put one of your hands into his, He stopped speaking, and looked at you. You could see the kind look in his eyes being replaced by something darker, more passionate.
He spoke again, voice lower this time. “I’ve been thinking about you and our kiss without a break since yesterday. And just as long I’ve wanted to kiss you again, touch you again.”
He reached out, cupped your jaw with one of his hands and slowly ran his thumb over your bottom lip. It took every willpower you had not to suck his thumb into your mouth. This man had you hot and aching for him with just a single touch and a couple of words.
“Is that something you want me to do, Y/L?” his voice was only a low rumble now.

“Oh my god yes. Yes please.” You whispered, not really trusting your own voice to come out steady enough.
The hand on your face slid to the back of your head and you uttered a surprised gasp as Jake just grabbed a fist of your hair and pulled you close, until your faces were only inches apart.
“You are beautiful.” He said, looking you deep in the eyes.
And then he kissed you again. And as soon as his mouth connected with yours, you realized just how much you had missed the feeling of his lips, the warmth of his body. But that was where the resemblance to the kiss you shared last night ended. Because this one was more.
More passion, more lust. Jake softly bit your bottom lip and used your surprised gasp as an opportunity to slide his tongue into your mouth. The kiss deepened and you could feel small sparks of arousal all over your body with every touch of tongue and every time he lightly tugged on the hair in the nape of your neck.
Your hands found their way around Jakes shoulders, roaming up and down his back. You were really glad he was not wearing his full State Of The Union Outfit, even if it had looked extremely hot, because as soon as you could feel the solid muscle through his thin dress shirt, you knew that those clothes had to come off at some point.
You lightly tugged on the hem of his shirt to pull it out of his pants and spread your hands over the warm skin underneath. Jake broke the kiss as soon as he could feel what you did, just to tilt back your head and kiss your exposed neck.
You couldn’t stifle a moan as he lightly sucked on your pulse point.
The feeling of his mouth on your skin made heat coil between your legs, and you tried to shift even closer to him, until you were almost sitting on his lap.
Jake continued to kiss your neck, while his other hand crept under your shirt to palm your breast through your bra. He lightly squeezed it and you moaned again, you nails raking softly over his back, making him groan against your skin.
“You like that?” he asked, and pinched one of your nipples through the thin fabric of your bra, and you could feel your panties getting soaked with arousal.
You decided that it was time to get rid of some clothing and started to quickly unbutton Jakes dress shirt, revealing more and more skin with each button undone. As soon as you were finished, he pulled the shirt of his shoulders and the view of his body made your mouth water. You ran your hands over his muscled chest, and you could see the way his eyes darkened again.
“I can’t wait to touch you everywhere.” He said in a husky voice and pulled your shirt over your head in a swift motion, and instantly his lips were on yours again, his hands roaming over your back, unclasping your bra. When your nipples came in contact with the skin of his chest, you couldn’t contain yourself anymore.
“Jake, please. Touch me, kiss me, anything. I need to feel you.” You pleaded, your voice slightly breathless.

“Take the rest of your clothes off, now.” Jake said, his commanding tone sending another surge of wetness between your legs.
You got up from the sofa and stood in front of Jake. Slowly, you opened the zipper of your jeans and pulled them down, leaving you only in your black lace panties.
Jake was watching you, his intense stare burning on your skin.
“Everything. Off.” He said, never breaking eye contact.
Having the undivided attention of this man was so hot, you almost got lightheaded.
You slowly dragged your underwear down your legs, and as you were looking up again, you saw that Jake was palming the bulge that had begun to form in his pants. You wanted to touch him so bad.
“You are gorgeous. Amazing. Beautiful. Stunning.” Jake said, taking in the sight of your naked body. His voice was strained, this was clearly affecting him.
A light flush was beginning to form on your skin, you weren’t sure if it was because of arousal or embarrassment, but you definitely knew that you needed Jake to get his hands on your body, now.
You made your way over to him again and leaned down to open the fly of his trousers. His briefs were already tented by his erection, and you palmed him through his underwear, making him groan.
“Those need to come off.” You whispered, smiling at Jake, who just nodded and lifted his pelvis so you could pull down his trousers along with his underwear.
Finally, he was naked in front of you. He grabbed you by your waist and pulled you down on the sofa, lying on top of you. The feeling of his warm skin against yours was thrilling, you tried to get your hands on every part of his body you could reach, stroking his back, pulling his hair. Finally, you wrapped your hand around the base of his hard cock, giving it some light strokes.
“You feel so good, Y/N, I’ve been thinking about doing this since I first laid my eyes on you. I’ve been in a state since we kissed, and now” he whispered against your neck „I can’t wait to finally have that sweet pussy of yours.”
You couldn’t believe the words coming out of Jakes mouth, hearing him say filthy things like that was turning you on more than you could’ve ever imagined. Obviously, your thoughts were written all over your face.
“You like it when I talk like that, don’t you, sweetheart.” He said, pinching one of your nipples as he did.
“I…Oh shit, yes, yes I do. Please.” You whimpered, almost going you crazy with the need to finally feel him.
He had mercy on you, reaching out between your legs. When he touched your pussy for the first time, you felt like the pent-up tension could make you faint any moment.
“God, you’re so wet, Y/N.” He thrust two of his long fingers into you without warning, and you almost screamed.
“And so tight.”
“I need you, please Jake, fuck me.” You were begging now, way beyond caring about any sort of decorum as his digits touched that sweet spot inside of you again and again.
He withdrew his fingers and shifted on top of you before he put his hands on your tights, spreading your legs. You couldn’t even begin to complain about the loss of his fingers, he was already lining up his cock with your entrance, and pushed in, slowly, filling you inch by inch until he bottomed out with a deep groan. His length stretched you in the most delicious way, and you cried out as he was starting to thrust in and out of you, leaving you almost no time to adjust to his size.
You couldn’t talk coherently anymore, you were just chanting his name over and over as he was fucking you into the sofa. Your nails clawed into his back as he was leaning over you, his hair falling into his face. Just as you thought you couldn’t feel any more pleasure, he grabbed one of your legs and probed it onto his shoulder, the new angle making you see stars with every move of his hips.
“You feel incredible, so tight and warm around me, you are amazing.” He looked down on you, taking in your face, squinted with pleasure, his name falling from your lips over and over again.
He reached between your legs and started rubbing your clit, never slowing down his relentless, hard thrusts. The combined stimulation was almost too much for you and your orgasm was approaching fast.
“Don’t stop, please, just don’t stop.” You cried out, the pleasure running through your body like a wildfire.
“Look at me when you come, I want to see you. Look at me!” Jake growled, breathing hard as he sped up even more.
You hit your peak with a cry, sparks dancing over your skin as your walls clenched around Jakes cock. Your eyes were fixed on his, and he looked at you like you were the only person on the entire planet.
Seeing you come undone beneath him, Jake only lasted for another few deep thrusts before he came, shouting your name and spilling his hot release inside of you.
He laid on top of you afterwards, his face on your shoulder, breathing deeply. You pressed a soft kiss to his cheek, and he turned his head to look at you.
“Hi” you said.
“Hi” he replied, your favorite smile spreading across his face again.
“I liked that very much.” You said, pressing another kiss to his lips. He chuckled and propped himself up onto his arms with a small sight, rolling off you. Luckily, your sofa was large enough so you could comfortably lie next to each other.
“Me too, that was fantastic.” He replied and pulled you closer, putting his arm around you. You buried your face into his chest, soaking up the heat of his body and his wonderful smell.
“Maybe you should come over more often.” You suggested, sounding a bit nervous again. You didn’t want to appear clingy. But this man had just rocked your world, and you couldn’t just act like nothing happened.
“I’ll come over whenever you want me to, sweetheart. Consider me at your beck and call.”
“Stay the night?” you asked in a hopeful voice. You had work in the morning, but you just couldn’t imagine letting him go anywhere now.
He just nodded, smiled, and kissed you again. That soft, tingly feeling in your chest increased even more, and you just happily snuggled up to him.
Later, as Jake was already asleep next to you, you took up your phone and sent a quick text message to Abby.
Next brunch is my treat! I owe you xxxx

A Slice of Heaven
Pairing: Dean x Reader, Anthony (OMC) x Reader (former). Other Characters: Charlie, Sam Winchester (mentioned), Kara (OFC)
Word Count: 5880-ish
Warnings: Mentions of Divorce, Jerk Ex, light smut-ish towards the end, mostly fluff though.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
You awoke to a faint buzzing sound that only grew louder the more you opened your eyes. "Ugh, make it stop," you groaned aloud. You finally realized that it was your alarm clock going off, and that you had pushed the snooze one too many times. If you didn't get up and shower and now, you weren't going to have enough time.
Fortunately, the coffee pot was on a timer, so by the time you came downstairs, it was already finished brewing. You fixed your coffee in your travel cup, grabbed a blueberry muffin off the counter and put it in a resealable bag. You checked to make sure you had everything you needed, put your purse in your messenger bag then zipped it closed. Just before you went out the front door, you lifted your keys out of the bowl sitting on the shelf.
You pulled the door shut behind you, making sure it was locked. As you turned to your left, you noticed that your neighbor was sitting on his front porch, enjoying a cup of coffee. He was reading a magazine, but as soon as he heard your door being closed he looked up. His emerald eyes shifted in your direction and a smile lit his face.
"Good morning!" he called out, raising his coffee cup in salute. The Golden Retriever pup at his feet raised his head, looked side to side, then laid back down on his front paws.
"Oh, hey! Good morning to you, Dean," you replied, returning his salute with your own coffee cup. You then slipped the strap over your head for your messenger bag so that it was stretched diagonally across your body.
As you descended the steps from your porch, you noticed that Dean was doing the same from his. He met you on the sidewalk in front of your houses and took a sip of his coffee.
"So, off to work, I see. By chance, do you have any big plans for the weekend?" Dean asked.
"Sadly, no. I've been invited to go out for drinks with some of the girls from work, but it all depends on how the day goes. Might be too tired for anything other than pizza and a movie," you remarked.
"Well, if you find yourself with nothing to do and you'd like some company, I'm right next door," he offered.
Your eyes brightened at the possibility of spending time with Dean. "I may just take you up on that, Dean," you replied. You looked down at your watch and noted the time. "Oh my goodness, I need to get going so I'm not late for work," you groaned.
"Wait, I still need to get your phone number! You know, so I can text you or....something," he stumbled.
You giggled. "I don't have time right now, but if you want, you can come by where I work. It's that bakery called 'A Slice of Heaven', down on 7th Avenue," you explained.
"I know where that is, maybe I'll have to stop in and see what you have," Dean remarked.
By this time, you had reached the driver's side of your 1968 Chevy Nova. You gave Dean a wave and a smile before getting into the car and driving off to work.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Since he saw you move in, Dean has made sure he was waiting on his front porch no later than 7:15 a.m. every day. That's because he knew that you usually left for work no later than 7:25 a.m. Seeing you every morning has become the highlight of his day. Even if it's raining out, he peeks out at you from behind his living room curtains. He feels that his day won't go just right unless he gets at least a glimpse of you.
To him, you're an amazing, beautiful woman who drives a badass car, and someone he'd very much like to get to know better. He'd heard some of the neighborhood gossip, but tried not to pay much attention or put any stock in it.
Rumor Control said that you moved here after your divorce from a rich husband. You were living in a modest home in a small, quiet neighborhood and went to work every day to support yourself. That led Dean to believe that you probably got the short end in the divorce settlement.
A Slice of Heaven. That's what you said your bakery was called, and Dean was starting to develop a serious craving for pie. May have to go check things out over there, he thought with a smirk.
If nothing else, it gave him a chance to get your number and put it into his phone for safekeeping. He had no problem finding any excuse to try and get close to you, get to know you better. Anything for you to give him one of your heart-stopping smiles, like the one you gave him before you drove off this morning. Dean went back inside to shower, then to get ready for the day and his important journey to a certain bakery.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"I know, I know, I'm sorry I'm just getting here at the last minute. It is only by the grace of the Traffic Light Gods that I managed to get here in the nick of time. I couldn't help it, I stayed up too late  reading. The story was getting to the good part, and you know how much I love to read," you remarked.
"Oh, it's all right, honey. You're here now, so let's get to work. Throw your apron on and help Kara with getting those pies made and in the oven, would you please?" your boss and best friend, Charlie asked.
"You got it, Chief," you grinned as you tied your apron behind you.
A few hours and so many pie crusts and fillings later, Charlie came back to see you in the kitchen. She said there was a handsome customer out front that wanted to place an order, but specifically asked for you. With a puzzled look on your face, you washed your hands and walked towards the front of the shop.
The man leaning down and checking out the display case suddenly stood up. All at once you were staring into the piercing green eyes of your next-door neighbor.
"Dean, how wonderful to see you again! Is there something I can help you with?" you asked.
"Yes, I believe you can. I think I need one slice of everything in this display case. Everything looks so delicious, I can't possibly be expected to choose. Yep, that's what I want. One slice of everything please," he requested.
You giggled at his request, because no one had ever placed a walk-in order like that before. "We can certainly do that, but it will take time to put it together. If you could come back in an hour or so, we could have it ready for you by then," you suggested.
"Perfect, that way we can have some lunch, and by the time I bring you back, it'll be ready. Right?" he asked.
"I would love to go to lunch with you today, but--" you started, but Charlie interjected.
"She just went on lunch break. Here, give me your apron, and I'll put his order together while you're gone. Goooooo," she insisted. She untied your apron and gave you a gentle push towards Dean's outstretched hand.
"Wait, I need my purse or at least my wallet if we're going to lunch," you recalled, turning back towards the kitchen.
"Nuh-uh, nope, no way, this was my idea, therefore it is my treat," Dean replied. With his hands on your shoulders, he steered you back so you were facing the shop's front door once again. "I'll have her back in an hour, boss lady," Dean called over his shoulder. Charlie made a shooing motion with her hands, and the next thing you knew, you and Dean were out the door.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Once outside, you scanned the area for places to go and have lunch, but Dean seemed to already have an idea of where to go. He picked up your hand with his, and guided you towards the little diner that was a few blocks from the bakery. Pausing in front of the door, he asked, "Is this okay?"
"Oh, absolutely, I love this place. Their fries have exactly the right amount of crispy that I love, and they have awesome milkshakes,"  you gushed.
Dean pulled the door open for you to walk in before him. "After you, milady," he gestured with a bow.
"Thank you, kind sir," you giggled as your cheeks grew quite warm, even in the air-conditioned diner. Dean's hand settled on the small of your back, gently ushering you to an open table by the window. A waitress with bright red hair and big doe eyes strode over to your table, pen and order pad in her hand.
"Welcome to The Bluebird Café, what can I start you with to drink?" Emma, your server, asked.
"I'll have a cup of coffee, please," Dean replied.
"And I'll have an Arnold Palmer, please," you asked.
"Excellent, and do you need a few minutes, or are you ready to order?" Emma inquired.
You and Dean looked at each other, both shrugged and grinned. You ordered the turkey club sandwich with fries, while he ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Emma smiled and said she would be back shortly with your drinks.
"So," he started. "You do know that an 'Arnold Palmer' is just an iced tea with a whole lot of lemon in it, right?" Dean teased.
"I know, but it's what I like," you laughed. "This is nice, thank you. I usually don't get much of a chance to take a 'real' lunch break. You know, one where I actually leave the shop. Usually, I'm bringing in leftovers and reheating them in the microwave," you explained.
"Well, that is a tragedy, one I am committed to remedying for you," Dean declared. He leaned back, since Emma had returned with your drink order. As she set his drink on the table, she gave him a big wink, which did not go unnoticed by you. An unfamiliar and unpleasant feeling fluttered in your stomach at her obvious attempts at flirting with Dean.
Dean seemed to pay no attention to her, though. He continued to rattle on about possibly making this a once-a-week event for the two of you. Suddenly he stopped talking and carefully reached across the table for your hand. As soon as he made contact, you jumped as if scalded by boiling hot water.
"I'm sorry, was it something I said?" he asked gently. He pulled his hand back, waiting for you to make the next move.
"No, Dean, I'm sorry. What were you saying about lunch?" you asked, hoping to revisit the subject.
"It's all right, we can talk about this another time," he promised. At that moment, his phone went off, and he rolled his eyes as he fished it out of his pants pocket. If the look on Dean's face was any indication, it said he'd rather not interrupt lunch with you to answer. However, he knew he had to take it.
"Sa-Sammy? Sam. Slow down, bro, what's going on? They what? You're kidding me. No, don't worry, I'll handle it. I'll think of  something and let you know. Bye, bro," Dean grimaced as he  disconnected the call.
By this time, Emma had returned with your lunch order, placing your meals in front of you. Reaching across the table, you took his hand in yours. "Is everything okay? Something I can help with, Dean?" you asked with concern.
Dean let out a small chuckle. "You're so sweet. It's about my parents' 30th anniversary party.  They've decided to go all out for this party, they've rented a ballroom at this hotel, invited a bunch of their friends, black-tie. There'll be dinner, dancing, the works," he explained.
"Sounds fancy," you added.
"Yup. So, we hired this company to make these baked goods for the dessert table, but they had to cancel. Seems they overbooked themselves, and ours was the last order taken, so the first to be cancelled," he grumbled.
"That's terrible! Also, extremely unprofessional," you retorted.
"Anyway, the party is in three months, and now I have to come up with a solution before everyone is booked. Wait a minute," Dean said, his face brightening.
"What?" you asked.
"You work for a bakery, and I've seen firsthand the work you all can do. If the product tastes even half as good as it looks, I think I've found a solution to my problem. What if your shop took the contract?" Dean suggested.
You pondered his idea for a minute. On the one hand, you and your co-workers took great pride in your work. You were confident that your shop could compete with the larger ones. On the other hand, it was a rather daunting task. One that may possibly blow up in your face if it didn't go well. "How about we ask Charlie when we get back? Let her decide if we can handle a job of that scale, not to mention prestige," you replied.
"Oh, sweetheart, if you can convince her to take the job, I would be forever in your debt," Dean remarked as he dug into his burger.
Your cheeks grew warm at hearing his endearment for you. "That's not necessary, Dean," you said shyly.
He put his burger down and reached for your hand across the table and grasped it in his. "You know, you're awfully pretty when you blush. Sweetheart," he added with a wink.
You felt as if your cheeks were the temperature of glowing hot metal from a sword-maker's forge. "Thank you, Dean," you whispered.
At some point, you had the presence of mind to pick up your sandwich and take your first bite. The warm turkey and crispy bacon against the cool lettuce, tomato and mayo nearly melted in your mouth. Once you and Dean had finished your sandwich and his burger, you took turns stealing fries from each others' plates. It was the most relaxed lunch break you'd taken in a while.
All too soon, it was time for you to return to work. Before you left your table, you made sure to exchange phone numbers with Dean. When you got back to the shop, Dean's pie order was all boxed up and ready to go. You went into the kitchen and asked Charlie to come out to one of the tables, because Dean had something to ask her.
When he was done explaining his dilemma, Charlie was silent for a few minutes. You and Dean passed nervous looks back and forth to each other until Charlie cleared her throat. "I think....I think that we could help you out, Dean. You said the party is in three months?" she  asked. Dean confirmed the date of the party as June 20th, three and a half months away. "You know what? Let's do this!" Charlie exclaimed.
Hugs were exchanged and a preliminary order form for the party was completed. Once that was done, you helped Dean load up his slices of pie in a shopping bag. After he placed the last one in the bag, you put your hand on his arm. "Thank you so much for lunch today. I had a wonderful time with you. Next time, though, it's my treat," you promised.
"Anything you say, as long as there is a next time," he agreed, tapping on the end of your nose. "It's time I should be getting home and start sampling these pies. Maybe I'll share them with my family....then again, maybe not," Dean grinned and waggled his eyebrows.
You laughed at Dean's antics. "I hope you enjoy your purchase, sir. Don't eat too many at once, or you'll get sick, you know! Hope you have a great rest of your day," you replied.
"Until we meet again, sweet lady," Dean said softly. He captured your hand once more and brushed his lips to the back of it. "Ladies," he called to your boss and co-workers as he walked out the door.
As soon as the door was shut, everyone swarmed around you. "Where on earth did you meet him?" Kara and Charlie both asked.
"Girls, he's my next-door neighbor. He's friendly, easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. Also has a dog, a Golden Retriever," you mentioned.
"And he's good-looking, hot, handsome, all of the above," Kara interjected.
You rolled your eyes, even though you agreed with Kara's assessment. "Can we please get back to work?" you asked with mock exasperation. Reluctantly, everyone returned to their station and the remainder of the day passed without further comment on Dean. Mostly, anyway. Charlie stopped you as you were both closing up the shop for the night.
"Seriously, you need to do something about and with that neighbor of yours. Not everyone is a jerk like your ex, honey," she remarked.
"I know, Char. Right now, I'm having fun being friends with Dean. For now, that is," you hastily added.
"Uh, okay, but the way he was looking at you tells me that he wishes you were having fun as more than friends. He's into you. Taking you to lunch, buying one slice of every kind of pie we have. Giving us this tremendous opportunity to cater his parents' anniversary. Face it, he likes you," she finished.
"We'll see, Charlie. For now, I'm going home to shower, order a pizza then probably fall asleep halfway through some movie. I know, the riveting life I lead," you remarked sarcastically.
You and Charlie walked out to your cars together and gave each other a hug before going your separate ways. You promised to let her know if anything more developed between you and Dean. "Don't get your hopes up, Char," you warned, even though you secretly wished for another opportunity to get together with your neighbor.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
As predicted, you didn't go out for drinks with your friends from work. You breathed a sigh of relief when you parked your car in front of your house. "Home at last," you announced to yourself. Once inside the house, you deposited your keys in the bowl on the shelf next to the door.
You walked into your room and began peeling off your clothes to get ready for your shower. The hot water coursing over your body soothed your aching muscles from a hard day's work. You dried yourself off and put on your pink plaid pajama pants and an oversized sweatshirt. From your phone, you accessed the app for the pizza place and ordered your dinner. You settled on the couch for some mindless TV program while you waited for your delivery.
About 40 minutes later, your doorbell rang, signaling dinner was served. When you opened your door, you were surprised to see Dean standing there, holding your pizza. "Well, this is certainly a surprise. I didn't know you moonlighted as a pizza delivery man," you teased.
"I'll have you know, I'm a man of many talents and secrets. Sadly, though, pizza delivery is neither of them. I had to kind of hijack this from your actual delivery person. I was hoping we could make good on that deal to get together, since you have no big plans? You know, that we were talking about this morning?" he asked with hope.
You laughed as you opened the door wider for him to come in. "How can I refuse such an offer? Please, come in," you replied, your heart hammering. "Let's bring the pizza into the kitchen and we can fix our plates there. Would you like something to drink?" you asked.
He asked for a beer if you had it, which fortunately, you did. For yourself, you poured a glass of white wine. "A toast," Dean started. "To dinner and a movie with the sweetest woman I know. Cheers," he finished softly, clinking his glass to yours.
"Cheers," you returned softly. At that moment, your phone rang in your pocket. Dean noticed how your smile completely dropped when you noticed the name on the Caller ID. Anthony, your ex-husband. You took a deep breath before answering, "Hello?"
"What took you so long to answer?" Anthony demanded.
"If you must know, I have a guest over for dinner, Anthony, not that it's any of your business. I was deciding whether to pick up or let it go to voicemail. Looks like I made the wrong decision on that. What do you want?" you retorted.
"Whatever. My parents are coming over for dinner next week, and I can't find the silver flatware that they bought us as a wedding present. I've looked all over the house. It's not here, which means you must have taken it with you when you left. I want it back, and I will be over to your house tomorrow to pick it up," he declared.
"Anthony, what on earth makes you think I have any use for something like that? Besides, it's in the storage area under the basement stairs. I put it there after the last time we used it for dinner with your parents. And you are truly unbelievable if you think I'm capable of stealing," you huffed.
"How do I know you wouldn't take it to the pawn shop if--" he shot back but you  interrupted.
"Don't even THINK about finishing that thought, Anthony. I didn't want anything from you in the divorce. I didn't ask for alimony, all I took with me when I left was what I brought with me into the marriage. Well, all but my belief in a forever love. That was something I had to leave behind when you cheated on me with Ashlynn," you remarked, tears silently streaming down your cheeks. "I don't have your precious silver flatware, Anthony. Goodbye and don't ever call me again," you finished as you disconnected the call.
With a shaking hand, you placed your phone on the counter and covered your face with both hands. Silent sobs wracked your body and the next thing you knew, Dean had wrapped his arms around you in a warm  embrace. You leaned into his chest as the tears continued to streak down your face. "I'm so sorry you had to witness that. I can't believe he thought...." you trailed off as you let yourself be comforted by Dean.
"Shh, shh, it's okay. I'm sorry you had to deal for even one minute with your asshat of an ex," Dean replied, to which you gave a small chuckle. When he looked into your eyes, you noticed a kind of softness was in his eyes. He leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to your forehead in a lingering kiss. You sighed deeply in contentment and he tightened his embrace just a bit.
"Um....Dean? If it's okay, I'd still like us to hang out, spend time together tonight. Shall we get our pizza and watch our movie? If you still want to, that is," you added.
"I would love nothing more, sweetheart. Let's do that," he agreed.
"I'm going to go splash some cold water on my face, then I'll be in a much better mood. Be back in a few," you promised but not before pressing a shy kiss to his cheek.
Dean stood in your kitchen, a bit stunned. His fingertips brushed the place where your lips had just been, as a broad grin swept across his face. What a woman, he thought.
His thoughts darkened a bit when he thought back on the phone conversation he witnessed. What a colossal jerk you had for an ex-husband. How dare he suggest that you would steal anything from anyone? You are a strong, independent and selfless woman, how dare he betray your trust by cheating on you? Dean knew that if Anthony was in front of him at this moment, he wouldn't be standing long, because Dean would punch him.
Dean's heart nearly broke in two when he heard what you said about not believing in a forever love anymore. He made a vow to himself to do everything he could to restore your faith and belief in love again.
The rest of the evening went a little more smoothly than it did at the beginning. When the movie was over, you walked Dean to the door, where he lingered a little. He tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear just before he pressed another soft kiss to your forehead. He said he would call you in the morning about plans for the day, and that he'd  like to see you again. You agreed, and wished him goodnight, a sentiment which he returned.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
On Monday afternoon, Charlie called you to the front about something. You had no idea what it could be, so you washed your hands and went to find her. When you got up front, you saw a vase with a dozen roses of assorted colors in it. "The card's for you, and I think you have some 'splaining to do," she teased.
You opened the card, and as you read it to yourself, your cheeks grew warm, which did not escape anyone's notice. You replaced the card in the envelope and slid it in your pocket without sharing its contents.
Kara spread her arms wide then dropped them to her sides in exasperation. "So? What gives? Are they from 'him'? What did the card say?" she asked.
"First of all, yes, they're from Dean. And 'B', I don't have to tell you what the card said," you replied mysteriously.
"Must have been some weekend if she's not willing to share details," Charlie muttered.
"Wouldn't YOU like to know," you taunted.
"YEAH! Actually, I would like to know!" Charlie shot back, but with a small smile. It was nice to see you happy, something she hadn't seen in you for quite some time. Not since the divorce, anyway. Charlie decided that if Dean was who made you happy, then it didn't matter what the card said. Still curious, though, she thought to herself.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
In the months leading up to the anniversary party, you and Dean spent more and more time together. You took turns cooking dinner and hanging out at each other's houses. Most nights you ended up on the porch swing, sitting and talking as people walked by. Those were the times you treasured, when it was just the two of you, sometimes his dog. The walls around your heart, put there because of Anthony, were starting to come down, allowing your trust in Dean to grow.
Dean was careful to take things between you at your pace. As much as he wanted to get closer to you, he wanted more than anything for you to be comfortable being with him. Nights out on the porch started with holding hands and soft kisses. Then it moved to the two of you snuggled together in the cool night air or on the couch during a movie. You learned that Dean gave good foot massages, which felt like heaven after a day on your feet baking pies.
One night after dinner at your place, you were standing at the sink rinsing dishes to be put in the dishwasher. You were too busy singing to yourself and swaying your hips. You failed to notice what was going on behind you in the kitchen.
Dean had come around the corner to enter the kitchen, only to hear you singing and see you dancing. Never had he heard a sweeter sound than the melody of your voice, whether singing, speaking or laughing. He quietly positioned himself so he was in your path, directly behind you. If you pivoted just right, you'd run straight into him, which was exactly what he wanted.
You needed to check if there were any other dirty dishes in the dining room. You turned away from the sink and ran smack dab into Dean, your palms landing flat against his solid chest. As he looked down to you, his eyes held a spark of amusement. You looked closer and caught a fleeting glimpse of what you thought was adoration and maybe even love.
"Careful there, darlin’. Wouldn't want you to fall and hurt yourself. Most accidents happen in the kitchen, or so I've heard," Dean explained softly.
"Well," you said as your tongue darted out to lick your lips. That move was nearly Dean's undoing, though you were unaware of its effect on him. "If I fall, I'm sure you'll be there to catch me. Right?" you asked breathily.
"Sweetheart, I will always be there for you," he promised, brushing your cheeks with his fingertips. "Anthony didn't know what he had when you were together. You deserve to be told every day how loved and cherished you are. You should know what a vibrant, sexy woman you are and how lucky I am that I get to do this." He bent his head towards you and captured your lips with his.
At first, the kiss was soft and tender, as if Dean was testing the boundaries between you. As your mouths moved in tandem, the kisses became more insistent and urgent. You slid your hands up his chest and moved them behind his head. Grinning with mischief, your delicate fingers played with the hairs at the base of his neck.
You could feel his smile as he dropped open-mouthed kisses along your neck, behind your ear, wherever he could reach. You felt the tickle of the vibrations against your skin from his playful growl at your teasing his neck. When the need for oxygen became too great, you broke apart, both breathing heavily.
"Whoa, Dean. That was amazing," you whispered.
"Sugar, you're more than 'amazing', I was going to say 'magical'," Dean replied.
"Dean, really, I'm not--" he silenced your protest by sealing his lips to yours once again. There was just enough of an opening between you for Dean's tongue to sneak through. A fact that he took full advantage of, and when your tongues met, a moan of pleasure escaped from you.
Dean's hands roamed up and down your back as he reached into your hair and gently tugged your head back, exposing your neck. "So beautiful," he murmured against your skin, nipping and ultimately leaving his mark on you for all to see.
Your hands slid around from behind his head to cradle his face so you could attack his lips once again. Just before you dove in to capture his mouth with your own, Dean pulled back a little.
"Is this okay, sweetheart? Or do you want more? We can stop anytime you want," he assured you.
Without a moment's hesitation, "More, I want more with you Dean. Let's go upstairs," you replied as you tugged his hand for him to follow.
Once upstairs in your room, layers of clothing were shed one by one. With no more clothing barriers between you, Dean nudged you backwards until the back of your knees hit the bed. You climbed up onto the mattress, crawling until you reached the middle. Dean soon joined you and leaned down to kiss you.
His hands and mouth took their time in worshiping every inch of your exposed skin, as if committing it to memory. Your mouth and hands were doing the same, mapping every muscle, every scar, every detail of his exquisite bare body.
Never had you been with such a patient lover, one who was more interested in learning what brought you pleasure than chasing his own end. He wanted to know which touch produced which sounds, so he could fulfill your every desire.
For as much as he was learning about you, there was an eagerness on your end to return the favor. You wanted to discover what sounds he would produce with every caress or stroke of your fingers on his skin. That way, you could be sure to replay each move as often as possible.
The silence of your room was punctuated with breathy words of affection and moans of ecstasy from the two of you. Layers of passion were built higher and higher as you both chased your release. Finally, you both tumbled over the edge, one after the other, each whispering declarations of love.
Later, after getting cleaned up, he belatedly realized that neither of you used protection. You assured him that you were clean and had just renewed your birth control, which eased his mind. He wrapped his arm around you so that your head rested on his chest. You could hear his steady heartbeat, which brought out a sigh of contentment from you.
"Hey," he whispered softly, turning to face you. His hand cupped your cheek, his thumb caressing it.
"Hey yourself," you grinned. At the serious look on his face, you pulled back a little. "Is everything okay? Oh, god, you don't regret--" he interrupted your spiraling mind with a kiss.
"No, sweetheart, never! You're an incredible woman, and I don't regret one second of what just happened between us. Quite the opposite, actually," he chuckled. "I wanted to ask if you would be my 'plus-one' to my parents' anniversary party," he finished.
Your eyes lit up with excitement. "Really?" you whispered. "You want me to meet your parents? That's such an important occasion," you remarked as the self-doubt kicked in.
"I know. That's why I want the woman I love by my side," he replied.
"You love me?" you asked softly.
"Darlin', I've been in love with you since you moved in. Why do you think I'm out on my porch, every morning, when you leave for work? If I don't catch sight of you, even through the curtains, I don't feel like I'll have a good day. You're a strong, passionate and intelligent woman, with a kind and generous heart. There is everything to love about you," he explained.
"Dean, the past few months we've spent together have been wonderful. I feel so comfortable around you, like I can finally be myself. I can tell you anything, without fear of being judged in any way. You are an amazing man, Dean Winchester. I fell in love with you when we went to lunch at The Bluebird Café. That day and everything between us since has restored my belief in a 'forever love'. I love you, Dean," you finished.
"Guess this means you're going shopping for a dress, huh?" he asked, to which you nodded. "Well, sweetheart, you'd better make sure it looks as good on you as it's going to on my bedroom floor," he smirked.
"Your bedroom floor?" you arched an eyebrow in mock annoyance. "Who's to say we wouldn't come back here after the party? Then it would be my bedroom floor," you pointed out.
"Either one works for me, darlin', as long as it ends with you out of the dress," he grinned and waggled his eyebrows.
"You are so lucky that I love you," you remarked.
"Yes, I am. I love you too," he replied softly, as he placed a slow, luxurious kiss on your lips.

RFA BEACH TRIP PLEASE🌊☀️🌴🐚🌺🐬🐠🦀
YESYESYES (I tried something a little different today, so I hope you enjoy it!)
RFA BEACH TRIP!
Jumin had recently bought this island, that was famous because of their cats. Yes. Cat island. And so because Jumin is such a sweetheart he got everyone some plane tickets so they would head out for the island the next day!
At first, everyone except Saeyoung and V weren’t really up to the idea. But then, when you got so excited and said that it would be so fun to have a beach trip, they changed their minds pretty quickly!
And so, all of you woke up at about 4am, Jumin sent some cars to pick you all up and soon you were all in his private jet. V and Jumin were listening to some classical music and drinking some wine, Yoosung at first was looking around everywhere, since he had never been on a private jet before, but a few minutes later he fell asleep on his seat, next to Zen, who was complaining loudly to Jumin, about how waking up at this hour was stupid, and that he only agreed to go because you were going.
Jaehee was watching some of Zen´s DVD in the background, Saeyoung was loudly singing to some music (you joined him lmao) which made Saeran groan and put on his headphones at full volume, trying to ignore his way too energetic twin.
You smiled as you looked at everyone in the RFA. This would be so exciting!
After you all checked in in the hotel -the fanciest hotel you had ever been in- you all changed into your swimsuits and decided to meet up in a bit.
You all set up on the fancy beach, Jumin and V sitting on some chairs under a really big umbrella, meanwhile Jaehee was wearing a hat and walking around the beach, looking at Zen, who was teasing Yoosung into getting in the water. Saeyoung was building some sand cats, yes, sand cats and Saeran was standing awkwardly on the side, not really knowing what to do.
This was going to be awesome!
Zen:
After traumatizing Yoosung for a bit, Zen called you over to get into the ocean with him. You smiled and grabbed his hand, as the both of you walked along the water, happily chatting. “I have to admit, even though I can’t stand that jerk, this beach trip was pretty nice. We haven’t all gone out like this in a while.” He said, while looking at all the RFA members, a big smile in his face. But then he turned around and pulled you closer to him, running his hands up your sides. “Although it is making me a bit jealous that they all got to see you in your swimwear like this. You look amazing.” A seductive smirk appeared on his face and Zen kissed you, and you both stood there, holding each other.
Until a big fucking wave got you guys and everyone laughed at the both of you. “THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING ALL LOVEY DOVEY!” Yoosung yelled, and Zen glared at him. Apart from that the beach trip was awesome, and you enjoyed spending time with Zen!
Yoosung:
So, he wasn’t really a big fan of the ocean, but he liked the swimming pool! Yoosung and you had a swimming contest! And you ended up winning by a lot lmao. Afterwards you both made your way around the beach resort, admiring how fancy everything was.
Until you got lost. Yeah that wasn't good at all.
You both walked along for hours trying to find everyone else. And you didn’t succeed. At one point it had become night, and you were both back at the beach, holding each other’s hands. “I’m sorry Y/N. If I had just stayed with everyone we wouldn’t be in this predicament.” You shook your head and caressed Yoosung’s cheek. “It’s alright Yoosung. I had fun, to be honest! I love spending time with you.”
As Yoosung became red in the face, you saw a bright light and a loud bang followed right after. Fireworks!!! The two of you screamed happily and ran over to get a better view, and Yoosung wrapped his arm around you, giving you a forehead kiss.
It was absolutely adorable, and even though Saeyoung later teased the crap out of you two, you really enjoyed it!
Jaehee:
“Y/N? Are you alright? Why are you so red in the face, oh! Don’t tell me you have a fever! Let me check!”
You blushed even more as Jaehee placed the back of her hand in your forehead, and you nervously chuckled, gently pulling it away. “Uh. It’s alright Jaehee. I-I just got distracted for a bit haha, anyway! Look at those seashells!” You quickly made your way to the shore, trying to hide your flushed face. When you saw Jaehee in a very cute two piece swimsuit you felt as if you were about to die. How could she look so freaking hot yet adorable at the same time?! You were just speechless.
Jaehee slowly followed you and helped you picking up shells. You both laughed as Seven tackled Yoosung in the water, while Zen was screaming loudly at the both of them for getting his beautiful face wet!
Soon enough you and Jaehee had picked up enough shells, and you placed them in a little bucket. Then, Jaehee grabbed your hand and led you to the water, where you were both looking at the beautiful sunset. Everything was perfect.
Until you felt a splash of water hit your face. You dramatically gasped as Jaehee giggled, and splashed some more water in your face. Before you knew it, it had become a water battle between the two of you, and you enjoyed it greatly! Jaehee kept running around and giggling the whole time, even when you grabbed her by the waist and carried her up, spinning her around.
When you came home from the beach, you both took the seashells and made them into a frame, and you put your favorite picture of the two of you together.
She really enjoyed spending the whole time with you, and she would love to do it again!
Jumin:
When you came to the beach, you made your way to Jumin and sat beside him, while talking to him and V, who had a huge smile on his face.
“Thank you for the trip, Jumin. It’s been a while since all of us travelled like this, together. I never thought we’d go out again ever since Rika passed away. But now, thanks yo Y/N, we’re able to do this again.” You blushed and shyly smiled at V.
Jumin didn’t really like to go and swim in the ocean, but you two decided to build some sand castles, since apparently he had never done that before. It all started as an innocent competition, until Jumin literally started making blueprints and measured everything so his sandcastle could be perfect!
And it was :D
Afterwards, you both went to your room and you changed into some clothes that Jumin had bought you. He escorted you to a really fancy restaurant in the place, and he got seats near a balcony so you could look at the sea while you ate. It was absolutely beautiful, the wind rustling his hair a bit, and everytime he looked at you and smiled, god, was he trying to kill you?
At one point Jumin grabbed your hand and kissed it, looking at you with eyes full of love.
¨Thanks to you we're able to go out like this now...you've done so much for us, and you don't understand how lucky I feel to be here with you, right now. I love you, Y/N.¨
You both had an amazing dinner, and after the trip Jumin would sometimes take some days off so you could go there again.
Saeyoung:
He was so thrilled to go to the beach with you and his brother!
Honestly, he had never felt so happy in his life!
Then you saw that there was a place where you could rent surfing boards! And holy crap you both had never ran so fast to a place before.
The two of you tried (and failed miserably) to surf. Saeyoung had actually gotten the hang of it pretty quickly, but you kept getting distracted!
He just looked so handsome with his hair all wet, and pulled back a bit so it wouldn’t get in his way. And when he surfed he looked so fucking good.
At one point you bit your lip, and when Saeyoung saw the way you were looking at him he led you to a nearby bathroom.
After the both of you and back, and played some pranks on Yoosung, you decided to go and....LOOK FOR THE CATS! That was honestly one of the only reasons why he agreed to wake up that early and everything!
You both made your way around the little town that was near Jumin’s resort, and you soon found cats everywhere. They were so fucking cute holy shit.
The rest of the trip you took a bunch of pictures, sometimes with the cats and sometimes with Saeran (who was acting as if he didn’t want to be here but he was having a hella good time.)
One night Saeyoung led you to the roof of the resort and kissed you.
¨I love you so much Y/N. Thank you for everything.¨
When you come back Saeyoung promised you that you will go on trips more often now, and he just can’t help but smile remembering the good things that happened.
Bonus:
“How many times did we tell you to NOT DO IT?!” Zen screamed.
“This is not how I thought I’d spend my time. I’m leaving to see how Elizabeth the third is doing.”
“No you don’t, you jerk! You have to stay here with the rest of us.”
“Lololol Yoosung I never thought you’d actually do it!”
“Luciel this is partially your fault too, you were the one who urged him to do it, so you’re to blame too. If you hadn’t thrown your food it wouldn’t have been this bad.” Jaehee glared at Luciel, and he quickly hid behind you.
“AGHHHH Y/N SAVE ME!! That gaze almost turned me to stone, brrr so scary!”
“It’s your fault you idiot. You should’ve realized by now that Yoosung is dumb enough to fall for those stupid tricks of yours. Besides you didn’t even tried to help him, you made things worse!”
“Aghhh! Not you too Saeran! My own brother!! Everyone is against me right now, hey V, help meeee!!!”
“Well Luciel....if you hadn’t even dared him to jump in there, we wouldn’t be here right now...so I’m afraid I’m going to have to agree with Jaehee on this one.” V laughed nervously.
“SEVEN I SWEAR IM NEVER FORGIVING YOU FOR THIS!” Yoosung yelled.
You may be wondering, what the hell happened?
Seven did.
Let me explain.
You were all eating lunch, when Seven dared Yoosung to go and jump into this little pond (that was made because of some rocks) to grab some crabs. It was going fine, until a whole bunch of them decided to go against Yoosung, and they started pinching him everywhere, so Yoosung quickly got out and started screaming.
Zen was about to help him, when Seven threw his sandwich at Yoosung while yelling YEET and NATURAL SELECTION DO YOUR THING, making some seagulls who were passing by, go and attack Yoosung.
Then Yoosung fell in a sand hole that you and Seven had made before near the shore, it was really deep, and when the crabs and seagull were finally off him, a fucking little octopus appeared and decided to latch onto Yoosung’s head.
Seven just laughed while Zen and Jaehee tried to get the octopus off, Jumin was sighing like a disappointed parent, and Saeran was actually smirking.
Meanwhile V had tried to go and help, but he went to the wrong place because...well he can’t see, so he was touching a palm tree while yelling for Yoosung.
And that’s how Yoosung became traumatized for life!
But it was honestly so funny lmao
Later when you’re all in the restaurant Seven orders some octopus on purpose to traumatize Yoosung even more.
And that’s why, kids, you should never go and pick up crabs because Seven dared you to.

Woodland get away
A self ship, self indulgent fic for my Anniversary with Red.
Part 2: Saturday.
The sun shone through the gap in the curtain stirring Red awake… or was it the delicious scent of food that filled the air that woke him? Either way he rubs his sockets and yawns. That's when he notices the empty space next to him.
He doesn't have much time to think or wonder, though before she walks in with a tray of food.
“Morning love.” She chimes.
“Was this sweetheart?” He mumbles in his rough morning voice, stretching as he sits up.
“Breakfast in bed for my dearest husband.” She sits down next to him and plants a kiss on his cheekbone before placing the tray on his lap. “Pancakes and coffee for my love.”
“You spoil me Doll.”
“Happy Anniversary Red.”
“Happy Anniversary Kezi.”
He pulls her in for a quick kiss before he turns his attention to his food.
“Thanks Sweetheart, almost looks as gorgeous as you.”
She giggles. Such a sweet sound he could never get tired of.
“You’re welcome. I’ll just go get mine, real quick.”
She goes and gets her own tray of breakfast and sits on the bed beside him. They enjoy their meal together and have a little cuddle session before getting ready to go out. Kezi hadn't really made any plans, neither of them usually do the whole plans thing so it was time to head out and see what they could find to do.
The fresh cold morning air welcomes them. The whole forest is covered in a thick blanket of white, fluffy snow.
Kezi beams as she walks out into the winter wonderland. It still baffles Red how excited she gets over the snow, though from the 3 years of living here he can kinda see why, it is pretty rare, that doesn’t make her fascination with it any less cute though, makes him think back at their brief time in the underground together… he couldn't understand why she wanted to play in the snow so badly, it was cute… but oh man was that whole ordeal a rollercoaster.
His thoughts were interrupted by a giggle followed by a snowball to the face.
“Oh no ya didn’t.” He chuckles.
“Oh I think I did.” She snickers.
And then a snow war broke out between them, Red was always a hard target to hit unless caught unaware, and he’s got amazing aim. She got a couple hits but if they were keeping score he definitely would have won. While they were playing in the snow already they of course had to make a little snowman, or well Kezi insisted making a little snow family so Snowbert wasn’t lonely.
Then they made a quick warm up stop and got a bite to eat at one of the coffee shops dotted around, after that they set off into the snowy forest once more.
Red drags her over to the ice skating rink… it was almost as if he had this planned. They have a lot of fun skating, Kezi isn't the best on the ice, but Red is pretty confident and has her every step(?) of the way. Then Red leads her to a nice restaurant, Kezi was surprised to find out that Red was hiding a nice dress shirt under his jacket. She felt a tad under dressed now… that's not fair, but Red made sure she knows that if she wears that cute smile she has then she's always dressed for the occasion.
After an amazing dinner they sit on a bench in the town surrounded by all the fairy lights that are neatly strewn around. It was starting to get dark now so Kezi broke out the glow sticks making necklaces and bracelets for them both. Red doesn't mind despite feeling slightly silly, it brings a smile to her face so it's worth it.
"Beautiful." She giggles after putting the glow stick necklace around his neck.
"Me? Wha? Na. Ya eyes must be broken." He chuckles.
"Na uh my eyes be fine, and Yes you. Lookie it matches your amazing eyelights." She pouts.
"You're so weird Kitten."
"I know. So are you sometimes but that's why we're perfect for eachother." She leans up and kisses his forehead. "Oh I made you a prezzie." She uses her phone to get a little box out of her inventory. "Here."
"Was this?"
"Open it silly and find out."
He takes the box and opens it up. Inside is a golden pocket watch, a cool embossed pattern on it with Kezi and Red writing around it, on the back it says 104. Inside the clock face is black with red numbers. The whole thing has a magical shimmer to it.
"Wow, really cool, ya made it yer self?"
"Yup, I had a little help from… well… myself. Oh and it's not just a pocket watch, it's like the protection keychain but fancier, a-also it's like a locket and you can put a picture in it. If you want."
"That's amazing Sweetheart, I'll keep it close always. I got one question?"
"Yeah?"
"What's 104 mean?"
"Oh well it's um…" her cheeks flush. "You see… you're red… which is the 1st colour of the rainbow and my colour is green which is 4th… and everyone knows a 'O' is a hug… soo…"
"Oh my freakin' stars Kezi. How are ya this freakin' cute?"
"I don't know."
"I got you some stuff too." He gets two boxes out of his inventory one is obviously her favourite chocolates and her face lights up at the sight of them. The other is a little box with a green bow on. He hands her the boxes. She carefully takes off the bow, takes off her hat and ties the bow into her hair with a smile.
"Beautiful." Red hums. "Now come on, open it."
She nods and opens the box. Inside is a snowglobe, the glass orb is sat on a mechanical looking box, inside the ball is a little white bunny sat on a patch of forget-me-nots.
"It's so pretty thank you. And I'll definitely enjoy the chocolate." She chirps before kissing him quickly.
"Hey is also a night light, and this box has a secret puzzle compartment, I had a little help from my bro but I made sure it wasn't dangerous."
"Oh wow really!? That's even more awesome." She looks over it and finds a button that makes the whole thing glow a pretty green. "I'll be sure to solve the puzzle later ok?"
"Ye whenever ya wanna."
"I love you." She hums as she hugs him tightly.
"I love ya too hun bun." He hugs her back and scatters some little kisses over her face. "I have one more surprise for ya doll."
"Really?"
They back their gifts into their inventories then Red takes Kezi by the hand leading her out of the little town. He stops by the lake.
"Wait here for me ok."
She nods and he kisses her forehead before disappearing.
She looks around… it's gotten really dark by now. To her left is a building of some kind, what she can't tell. To her right is more forest and behind her is the town… but in front of her is the beautiful lake, it glistens in the moonlight, the stars sparkling over the water.
On the water from behind the building comes a light… a lantern… on a little boat, then she sees a familiar glow as the boat fully reveals its self. It's a lovely little row boat with her skeleton sat in it rowing towards her. She can't help but "awwww" and giggle.
He stops at the end of a tiny pier. "Come on my lady." He becons.
She scurries over and carefully sits in the boat with Reds help and he rows further into the lake.
"This is so romantic Red." She squeaks. "When did you plan all this?"
"Tbh not long before we left to go on holiday." He chuckles. "A certain bro of mine convinced me I had to do somethin' for ya today."
"Ye I can imagine Edge freaking out because we're improvising." She giggles.
"Ye. But the actual plan was all me, impressive right?"
"Very, It's been amazing. Thank you."
Red soon stops the boat and the two of them admire the nights sky as usual, they chat and make up constellations and stories.
Red looks over to Kezi as she smiles up at the sky. She gasps.
"Shooting star!"
He looks over to see the small light trail across the sky. They both make a wish each. Before smiling back at eachother.
"How'd I ever get a girl like you to like me??" He mumbles.
"How'd such a handsome, amazing skeleton ever fall in love with me?" She whispers back. "I love you so much." She sighs happily.
He tilts her head up and leans in pressing his teeth against her lips, he pulls her closer, as close as he can in the little boat as she rests her hands on his chest, his hand tangling into her hair as he deepens the passionate kiss. He breaks the kiss but only for a second as he goes back for more. "I… love ya… too…"he mumbles against her lips. His soul quietly purrs out for her as she hums into the kiss. She wraps her arms around him as she enjoys the smooches.
He breaks the kiss.
"Happy Anniversary Sweetheart." He purrs.
"H-happy Anniversary love."

Heyyyy, I'm new to the fandom (and tbh don't really understand Tumblr) so idk if this is the correct way to do this lol I ADORE your Dewey fanfics and would love one where Dewey and the reader first get together? Like first kiss story? I haven't read any yet. The rest is open to you ✨ Thank youuuu 💕
hello my lovely, welcome to this weird and wonderful fandom! this is honestly the best fandom i’ve ever been in, everyone is so so lovely and amazing and you’ll love it here!
this piece is super super SUPER cliched lol but it was fun to write and i hope you enjoy it!💕💕
Dewey was probably driving faster than he should have been. But he was high on adrenaline, and so were you. The street lamps flew past in a blur, illuminating the deserted, midnight roads. However the light pollution was little enough that you could still see the stars if you ducked your head and looked up at them from the van window. It was November. It was cold. Dewey had to scrape the van windscreen when the concert ended. His hands freezing from the ice.
The venue had been almost an hour away from the town you and Dewey lived in. which was fine. It just meant a longer time for you both to jam out in the van. The van was warm, and cosy, and Dewey must have replaced the air freshener as the woody smell of cinnamon filled the space. Your favourite.
The mix tape Dewey had on was impressive, and you had to mentally remind yourself to ask him for a copy as you belted out the lyrics to Paradise City by Guns n Roses. Again, your favourite.
Both of your ears were ringing and the after gig buzz was still coursing through your veins. You could hears Dewey’s rough, gravelly voice singing along to the song, sounding almost sore from all of the singing and shouting he had been doing. It was delightful. You could get used to that voice. It gave you butterflies.
The thing was, this was only your second date with the wannabe rockstar, and it just so happened that a band you both liked had been playing just outta town. Perfect.
You did know one another, but only really through friends of friends. This was the first time you had really spent time together. Just the two of you.
He seemed as though he had been having the time of his life. Or you hoped he was. You were. Those damn butterflies hardly left your insides, fluttering all night.
You didn’t know it yet, but the fluttering was also happening to him.
You couldn’t get your mind off of the way your bodies had brushed up against one another during the concert. Between the music filling your soul, and Dewey occasionally brushing up against your back or side, you were in heaven. The way his hair flopped as he moved his head along to the music made you want to run your hands through it, and the way his eyes seemed to delve into your soul when you caught one another’s gaze was intriguing. It felt good to have someone share such a passion for music. It was exciting. He was dreamy. And he had made you laugh all night. So much so you swore your ribs would be sore in the morning.
“yes I totally agree! Tea without cookies are boring as hell” you’d giggle at the randomness.
“yeah its like, website: we use cookies to improve our performance… me: same”.
“yeah I run a tight shipwreck” he would joke about his afterschool music club with the kids.
“no, a balanced diet is having a piece of pizza in each hand, y/n..”
“you know.. I say ‘woah’ to a lot of people.. and I think they misinterpret why..? they ain’t always good woahs”
You got nervous as he turned into your street. You didn’t want to leave him yet. The night had been so fun.
Would he kiss you?
You shook your head to yourself a little. What if he had a crap night and was just being nice? What if he thought you were super boring and never wanted to see you. Internally panicking, you looked over at him and flashed him a quick, sheepish smile.
He returned.
His head was also spinning. Should I kiss her? What if she think’s I’m boring? She probably think’s I’m ugly. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
The van pulled up with a jolt. The events of the night truly coming to a halt.
“here, I’ll get the door for ya” he hurried himself out the van and into the cold air to come open your door. You watched the way his breath could be seen in the cold, winter night, and the way he hunched his shoulder’s a little to stay warm.
He smiled at you as the door opened. His hand went to his middle as he half bowed as you stepped out of the van “m’lady”. You rolled your eyes, laughing at his goofiness. “why thank you good sir” you opted for a posh English accent, half bowing back at him. what on earth were you doing.
Dewey closed the van door and put out his arm for you. “would the good lady like a supportive arm so the good lady does not fall on the ice?” he now also opted for a posh English accent. “the good lady would” you returned, taking his arm and giggling away.
It felt therapeutic to be vibing with someone who had the same goofy energy as you did.
It also felt thrilling to have his body brushed up against yours again. His warmth was helping to fight off the cold. It was like -3.
You glanced up at him, your eyes glistening with excitement, and your mouth curling to the biggest grin, letting out a little giggle. Dewey admired the way your cheeks lifted when you grinned at him. and the way your cheeks were blushed from the cold was captivating and cute as hell. He was smitten.
He couldn’t help but smirk back at you as he walked you to your door.
The path seemed to never end. And it wasn’t a long path. You looked back down at your boots. “I honestly had the most awesome night tonight Dewey” you looked back up at him.
He swore his heart skipped a beat when those words hit his ears. A little bit relieved, but a big bit excited. “me too! The concert was amazing… and I suppose the company was pretty okay too” he winked at you as you arrived at your door, nudging you a little.
You chuckled, hitting his arm playfully.
“no seriously, I had an awesome time with you tonight.. and you-you look really pretty tonight” he smiled bashfully before he stumbled over himself.. “not that you don’t always look pretty.. you do!.. I uh..” he scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
You blushed, smiling at him stumbling. “thank you Dewey.. you look pretty good yourself” you ruffled his hair a little, relishing in the feeling of finally feeling it through your fingers. He chuckled.
The air felt awkward for a second. You looked into his eyes, before looking at his lips, then back up to his eyes. Was he gonna kiss you?
He felt so nervous. He swore his hands were sweating even though it was literally -3 outside. His heart was pounding in his chest. But still, his face inched closer to yours, and there was no other place he would rather be.
The butterflies had returned. This time in full force. So much so that it felt like they may just flutter out of your mouth. But still, your lips parted, and your head inched closer to his. You were both pretty close already. You feel his breath on your face. It was welcoming and warm, an enjoyable contrast from the cold of the winter.
You suddenly felt his warm hands on the sides of your face as he closed the gap between you, his top lip finding its place in between yours as both of your eyes fluttered shut.
It was so delicate. His lips barely brushed yours, softly, like butterfly wings and just long enough for you to inhale his breath, and feel the warmth of his skin. You had never gotten so lost in a kiss before.
Dewey swears his heart is skipping beats and he never realised how starving he was until he tasted you. He had kissed before, but it didn’t leave him burning the way this one did.
And then he parted. His hands falling from your face as his lips ghosted yours, his eyes opening. He admired the way you looked before you opened your eyes; so content and beautiful.
Opening your eyes to the handsome rockstar felt enthralling. His eyes dreamily gazing into yours. You wanted to do that again. So you did.
You pushed your lips to his again, without warning, without even really deciding to do it, but simply because you couldn’t have done anything else.
It wasn’t as soft. It was a little needier, a little more fiery. He opened his mouth, deepening it a little, allowing access. You could feel his scruff on your face now, tickling your skin. His hands brushed your hand, his fingers suddenly intertwining with yours.
Parting, you opened your eyes, admiring the face before you. Your smile grew as you watch him smirk.
“woah…” he breathed.
“I hope that’s a good woah..”.

Non Magical AU, Poet!Remus and Musician!Sirius
Part two! :D
· Sirius spent five hours trying to write the perfect letter. His hand was getting tired, two pens had already stopped working, and tons of not achieved attempts were laying on the floor, making a mess. James had left Sirius alone after the first two hours, not before shouting, “You’re not marrying him yet, calm down!” which made Sirius blush madly at the simple thought of marriage. Definitely too much.
· When he finally had in his hands what he considered the perfect letter he sighed contentedly, admiring his hard work. He did everything he could to make it look good, but like I just happen to be able to write perfectly and express my thoughts without any problem good. He wanted Werewolf to know he cared enough to write a good and thoughtful letter, but he didn’t spend half a lifetime doing it. He couldn’t look that desperate, could he?
· Luckily, after having one of the fanciest educations you could have thanks to his mother (not that she cared, she didn’t, she just wanted Sirius to be good at everything, that was a bare minimum stablished in the house) Sirius was one of these people that had an extremely clear and pretty way of writing. At one time in his life he even wondered in he could charge people to write their letters for them (but decided it wasn’t a good idea after learning that some people exchange some… not so family-friendly letters between each other, specially lovers).
· Well, he found a pretty envelope (that smelled old, and he guessed the poet kind of enjoyed that vibe) and grabbed his keys to go and deliver the letter.
· The whole time he was nervous, and when he came home that night, he couldn’t stop touching his newest tattoo. The guy who wrote what he had in his skin was sending letters to know, he knew. And he liked The Marauders music. He couldn’t stop thinking about, and it took both James and Peter to get him out of his fantasies.
· Okay, Remus. If he was being honest- he was totally overwhelmed by the whole situation. Not only THE Sirius Black had a tattoo of one of his poems, but he also took time from his own performance to talk how much he liked what Remus did in general. And now Remus was waiting for a letter from a hot Rockstar, nothing to be scared of, right?
· He told himself he wouldn’t panic, but when the letter arrived the next day he was pacing around and twisting the envelope carefully, he didn’t want to ruin it. It smelled so nice, like the old books that were collecting dust under his bed.
· When he started reading the letter, his legs threatened to give up, but he took a deep breath and keep reading. Could someone blame him if he was obsessed with Sirius’s calligraphy? It was so beautiful and elegant, so different from Remus’s, that was always messy and with weird shapes. He couldn’t help it- his hands trembled a lot and his pulse wasn’t the best to keep things organized. But it was understandable, and he was okay with it.
· Returning to the letter, right. Remus touched the paper so many times to make sure it was real, searching for any sign hiding behind a dot that Sirius didn’t want to keep messaging him. There wasn’t one, in fact, Sirius ended the letter with a cordial, “I do find myself looking forward to maybe, in one near possibility, keep sending you these letters. I admire you a lot, and getting to know you would be one of the greatest to receive in this life time.” For a Rockstar, he wrote like he was the protagonist of book that ended up with him and his lover being together after defeating all odds. Quite… romantic. And dramatic, Sirius was dramatic.
· Remus ignored his thoughts and read again just to be certain of what he knew now. Sirius wanted to keep in touch, he absolutely loved Remus poems, he didn’t regret at all his tattoo (and he also begged Remus to forgive him in case he found it uncomfortable) and in general he was happy Remus attended the performance. Remus was happy too.
· The following days more letters were exchanged, every single one of them becoming more and more intimate. At first, they didn’t know what to write about- Remus would send poems and thoughts about them, explaining to Sirius his creating process (that he thought it was really boring even though Sirius told him he liked it) and some topics he liked to write about. Sirius sent back some lyrics he had wrote and particularly enjoyed, sometimes mentioning the anecdotes they had behind them. Remus would laugh every time he did this, because, God, Sirius did some stupid and amazing things. There was this one lyric that said (and Remus loved) “And I hope whoever is above forgives me for loving an angel that fell down” and Sirius explained that even when that lyric was quite “deep” he wrote it after seeing a cheap angel statue in a store nearby and then laughing at James who fell down at the entry of the store. Remus loved the lyric even more after the explanation.
· Finally, after three whole weeks of sending letters to each other every day, Remus took all the courage he could and ended his most recent letter with “You can call me Remus, Sirius. That’s my name, and I think is more comfortable than having to refer to me as Werewolf. Still wonder why I chose that nickname.”
· When Sirius read that he literally fell down the couch, eyes wide opened. “James, he told me his name! his real name! he practically revealed his identity to me!” “You two are quite close now, aren’t you? Why don’t you ask him to meet up with someday? You could suggest it. C’mon, I want to know if the guy you are in love with is as handsome as I am- “ “I’m not in love with him- “ “Okay. But you’ll be if he keeps sending you letters that make you smile as big as you’re doing right now. Stop, is scary.” “Shut up.”
· Sirius thought a lot about what James said (when he said a lot, he meant he meditated for like ten minutes and decided it wasn’t that crazy) and wrote down in the next letter, it was shorter than the others he had sent. He was writing the usual, grasping for air just to put in the end, “Remus, I know you feel more comfortable hiding your identity, and I’m happy you decided to tell me your real name. But I was thinking… is just a suggestion, but maybe one day we can get some coffee together? We don’t need to go out in public, but there are some pretty nice and calm places to hang out around here. No one would disturb us if you interested. Think about it.”
· Remus screamed. He was too new to this interest that the vocalist of The Marauders had in him, but he didn’t despise it, he… okay, maybe he was dying to get a date with Sirius, and maybe he had a possibility, but his reflection in the mirror told him otherwise. He was used to look half-dead (he was sure he had broken all the bones in his body at least once, and he got sick quite often), but it was still discouraging to see his lanky figure and think that maybe that wasn’t was Sirius was waiting for.
· Yet, he couldn’t reject the offer by saying “No, I’m sorry, I’m ugly,” (even though he was the only one that thought that), so he nodded to himself and wrote a new letter. A positive answer to what Sirius was asking, he was still unsure on how he could improve the way he looked in some days (or hours, if he had magic or something), but with some effort maybe Sirius would ignore his image.
· Days passed by and Friday came, the day when Sirius and Remus would finally meet in person, or well, Sirius would meet Remus in person. Sirius tried to dress casually, enough to look good but also in a way people wouldn’t think, yeah, that is a Rockstar. He didn’t want anything disturbing the day. He even sent James and Peter to a friend’s house (poor Mary) so in case everything went wrong he could come back to an empty house and he could cry about it and then eat the chocolate cake James brought the other day.
· Remus decided to totally ignore his mirror after fixing his hair a little bit. The more he looked at himself the more self-conscious he would get, and he wasn’t ready to get his day ruined by snarky comments coming out of his own brain. He looked good, he was ready and the day would be awesome.
· Sirius arrived first. He sat down and started tapping the table with his fingers, nervousness taking over him. He had sent the exact address and even the number of the table they would at (and that was important because Sirius chose one that was hiding behind some curtains, and it offered privacy), but he was worried Remus wouldn’t find him.
· A few minutes passed and when he was ready to order a glass of water to entertain himself, someone coughed softly to gain his attention. When he looked up, he was certain that he had forgotten how to talk, because who is this tall and handsome man and why is he sitting right in front of me. That was Remus? He was certainly a lot taller than Sirius expected him to be, and he had scar going across his face. Sirius noticed he also had tons of little ones in his hands, and maybe what he was thinking wasn’t the purest thing on earth, but Remus scars were hot. He was hot. You don’t arrive at a cafe to find that the Poet you have been reading non stop for some time was extremely attractive every day.
· Remus coughed again and Sirius tried to act normal, smiling at him. They were both sitting in front of each other, Remus cracking his knuckles and Sirius still staring at him. Remus was trying not to stare back because this was the first time, he was so close to the vocalist, and he knew he would blush if he did.
· But his mental plan failed when Sirius commented, without any trace of shame, “I like your eyes. They’re pretty,” and Remus melted right there. He laughed out of nervousness and Sirius followed with him, both giggling. “Thanks, I… I’m sorry. Is just that I wasn’t expecting that.” “Is fine. I blurted it out, sorry. I should have asked if you were Remus first, but now that think of it, that would have been stupid since you came directly to this table. And only you knew I was sitting here.”
· After a few more giggles, they ordered what was tempting at the moment (Sirius recommending the best pastries) and started talking a little more comfortably. Remus spoke the most (surprising to even him) and Sirius listened, nodding from time to time. After mumbling a lot of things at the beginning, Sirius showed he was as nervous as Remus was, maybe even more.
· They spoke about everything they could, laughing between stories and taking breaks to change the subject and then come back. They even had to remind themselves to eat because talking was so fun, they forgot the food was waiting for them. Maybe the coffee wasn’t hot, but it was fine. More than fine, the coffee was excellent when the company was making it better.
· Hours passed and they didn’t notice. By the end of the conversation about school and friends, a waitress came to tell them they were going to close. Sirius was startled, how much time had passed? They divided the bill in equal parts (even though Sirius insisted he wanted to pay) and got out of the cafe. Outside was cold and cloudy, and Sirius blushed when he noticed the first thing he thought about was Remus looks cute with his face all red thanks to the cold.
· They both stood outside for some minutes, until Remus spoke, his face hiding behind the scarf he was wearing, “Would you… like to do this again? Because I certainly would.”
· Sirius nodded so fast that Remus laughed loudly, his smile making his freckles shine a little bit and Sirius felt his heart beat a little faster. He didn’t have a type before? Well now he certainly did. And it was Remus.
· “Maybe… Are you free on Wednesday? You could come over to my house. Well, the one I share with James and Peter. You could help me write some lyrics. I’m… a little bit blocked. If you could say it like that, and having you writing lyrics for the group would be amazing.” “I would like that, yes. Would you send me the address?” “Sure! It will be in the next letter.” “Great.”
· They shared a weird but not uncomfortable silence until Remus whispered “Fuck it” and kissed Sirius on the cheek, quickly turning around and walking to his home, “Good night, Sirius.”
· Sirius face went red as it could go, and he only mumbled “Good night, Remus,” when Remus was already a few steps ahead. If the boy had enough courage, he did too, so he wiped his sweaty hands in his jeans and shouted, “Can the next one be on the lips?”
· Remus blushed and laughed loud enough for Siris to hear. He nodded to himself, and he swore he heard Sirius go “Yes! I won, fuckers!” behind him.
None of them could wait until Wednesday.
