God that scene in the last episode was just…
The way Charlie physically closes himself off and Nick sits at his level and gently pulls him back open again
The way Nick literally holds Charlie’s hand through the conversation
The way Charlie allows himself to trust Nick
The way Nick looks so heartbroken that anybody made Charlie feel bad about himself
The way Charlie makes the decision to tell Nick about his SH
The way Nick realizes there’s even more going on than just Charlie’s ED and braces himself to hear it
The way Charlie allows himself to admit his feelings and acknowledge that he doesn’t deserve to feel like that anymore
The way Nick can’t help but hug him
The way Charlie grabs him back and buries his face in Nick’s neck
The way Nick is trying not to cry/be strong for Charlie
The way Nick’s head falls in relief when Charlie said he doesn’t hurt himself anymore
The way Nick won’t allow Charlie to be sorry for this
The way Nick doesn’t put him down or tell him not to do it again, but instead makes Charlie promise to tell him if it gets that bad again
The way Charlie still thinks he’s a burden
The way Nick looks so sad that Charlie would think that of himself
The way Nick gently reassures him that he could never see Charlie as broken or a burden
The way Nick is showing how strong he thinks Charlie is
The way Nick wants to be Charlie’s rock because that’s what Charlie is to him
The way Nick is struggling not to cry
The way Charlie finally accepts that Nick really just wants to help him
The way Nick cradles Charlie’s face
The way it looks like he’s going in for a kiss but is actually going to the forehead for the most tender kiss
The way he immediately goes to rest their foreheads together, just exuding ultimate comfort
The way he goes in for a sweet kiss
The way he’s almost ready to say “I love you” but is interrupted
The way he knows it’s not the right moment
The way Charlie knows anyway
The way Charlie looks like he can’t believe any of this is happening to him, that it’s real, that someone loves him
The long, slow, sweet kiss goodbye
The way neither of them want to leave each other
The way Charlie lingers in the driveway
The way Nick takes a deep breath and lets himself really feel everything once Charlie’s gone
The way Charlie is ready to say “I love you” back
Joe and Kit acted their asses off for this and I’m so so proud of them

No, but here, let me explain:
Izuku and Katsuki became roommates right after graduation. Since Izuku had just confirmed he was quirkless again, he straightaway looked for colleges to study and made it. While Katsuki, already working at a hero agency, had started his patrolling schedules. So life became complicated like that.
Izuku would go to class and study until late hours. Sometimes, he would see Kacchan, and the blonde would tell him about the villains and aspects of the job while they had dinner. It was surprising how much Kacchan shared, almost as if he wanted Izuku to feel part of each experience.
However, as time went by, and Izuku graduated and started looking for a job, he noticed Kacchan taking over time hours. At first, he didn't really think much about it, then their days off wouldn't match, and they won't see each other for weeks.
Izuku knows they're still sharing an apartment cause he can see Katsuki's activity in the place. Clothes in different places, laundry baskets, either full or recently cleared, freshly washed plates, food prepared in the stove in what looked like a rush or neatly prepared dinner plates in the fridge with a note for him. Of course, he did his part of the work, and even though it felt like he lived with some sort of workaholic ghost, everything was fine.
He often found some other things, like bandages and medicines that he didn't knew his best friend was taking, clothes with blood stains and a few times, hospital papers that attested his childhood friend had been out of commission for something or other. He was sure to leave a note expressing his concern and will to help if needed.
There were times when Katsuki had been asked to take vacations, so Izuku would either find him there and chat or come home to a note that he would be out for a few days. He never asked more. Their lives were good, his job at UA was great, so he couldn't really complain.
Sometimes, when they coincided and had time to spend together, Izuku would tell him about his students and their quirks. Kacchan would sit there listening and making small comments or questions, but some other he would look at Izuku with a furrowed brow.
This made him nervous, was Kacchan upset with him about something, was he tired of his stories, was he probably thinking of changing their living situation?
Izuku wouldn't blame him. He had become a loner. His only company was his students and fellow teachers, so he could understand the lack of interest since his best friend probably had better and most interesting things to share.
Friend gatherings were rare but precious, Izuku wished they would happen more often, but that was life. He had some friends from college, but they were as busy as him and didn't share his interest on heros. He had not had a romantic partner either in all that time but had heard most of his friends from UA had.
He often worried, though, about their bad experiences and if his roommate would ever introduce someone to him, but Kacchan's work pace had not changed in years, he could remember him saying he was going to be rich when they were younger, but up to this point he considered his friend was not living up to those expectations. They had graduated several years ago, if Katsuki wanted to move on his own or buy a car or something, surely with his savings and over time hours he would have been able to do that by now.
So when All Might came to visit him from a trip to the US and gave him a suitcase with a support gear armor, he couldn't believe it. Much less that all his friends, but especially Kacchan, had done this for him.
He went to the dressing room and changed, feeling excited about using it and unable to stop the waterfall of tears coming from his eyes. He tried to calm down and breathed in before activating the suit.
When it did, he noticed how most of the armor was built in a way that fitted him perfectly and how it incorporated part of the moves he had developed with OFA. Then he heard a click...
There was some noise, and suddenly...
"Team, please, welcome back our hero, Deku! The nerd is now able to help us in the field..."
Kacchan's voice said over a small microphone built near his collarbone on the suit.
Many voices he could recognize were heard with a cheer and salutation. The Kacchan said he was going to find him at UA, and he must be ready by then. Once that was confirmed, Hawks gave instructions and deployed Deku and Dynamight to help. It was Izuku's best day in a while!
At night, when he finally landed on his doorstep with Kacchan behind him, he was unable to keep it in anymore and broke down crying. He asked Kacchan about the suit, about the costs, about everything that led to this day.
"Well, if we were going to do this for the rest of our lives, you had to be able to keep up nerd!" Was all Katsuki said before they entered their apartment.
Izuku still wanted to know why he had gone to such lengths. Wasn't he supposed to reach No.1? Wasn't he supposed to become popular, marry some lucky person, and be victorious and happy ever after?
"And who do you think I want to do all that with? I need you there every step of the way Izuku. Or do you think i would have spent all this time doing this for anyone else?"
Things got a bit awkward after that, what with Izuku being oblivious to Kacchan's perspective of the future... a future with him, and not only as hero partners.
Izuku still gave lectures to his students and also some villains from time to time, but mostly alongside his lifetime hero partner, his best friend, and everything else: Kacchan.

I'll Be Here Until You're Okay
Legend was fine when they landed in Skyloft. It'd been ages since Sky had seen Groose or Sun, and he quite literally cried when he saw them again. Sky deserved to see his partners, deserved to see his Loftwing, his home. It was a blissful few days of rest, before they had to leave due to hearing of a group of black blooded monsters nearby.
Legend was fine when they landed in Outset, even with the memories of the waves, the sand, a girl and a dream. Wind had missed his grandma and sister so much, and he'd screamed as soon as they hit the sand. He ran faster than Legend had ever seen him run. Wind had smiled more than he had in a while too, and Legend got really sunburnt and quite miserable.
Legend was fine when they landed in Four's world. It was good to see Four's Grandpa again, to trade stories and fix some of Wild's broken weapons. Four had been excited to see the Minish again, and get a chance to talk to Dot.
They were fine when they landed in Time's. The ranch was quiet and felt almost like home. Malon was kind as always, and they had good places to sleep. Fighting was easier, almost, with the knowledge they'd have an actual bath and mattresses to sleep on when they were done.
Fine in Wild's. Flora had been ecstatic to see her partner again, and Wild relaxed a good bit around her. Seeing Farosh had been a rare treat, and the hot springs Wild had brought them all to were heavenly.
Fine in Twilight's. Ordon was just as quiet as the ranch had been.
Hyrule's. Good to see Hyrule acting confident for once.
Warriors'. The bars were good.
But they were most decidedly not fine once they landed in Wild's again, after only a couple of months away from it. ***
Legend stepped forward out of the portal, Hyrule right behind them. They blinked in the bright sunlight, expecting to see a familiar landmark, the house they shared with Ravio...
When none of that was seen and instead they were greeted by an open field, Legend froze. Why Wild's Hyrule again? Why? Hylia must really hate them if she won't even let them go home. Legend hated her just as much, she never let them rest, not even after all the adventures. No matter how many times Legend did her bidding, she was never satisfied. Legend clenched a fist, angry. They wanted to go home.
Home.
Oh, Ravio.
Legend's eyes watered. They let their hand unclench, suddenly gripping the side of their skirt instead. It'd been almost five months since Legend had seen Ravio. Legend bit their lip and didn't notice their name had been called until the entire Chain was watching them with worried expressions. Legend took their hands from their skirt and clasped them together instead, with a sort of finality. "Wild. This is yours, right?" Fuck, Legend's voice broke. Legend took a shuddering breath, watching Wild. Wild nodded, expression sad. Legend nodded stiffly right back, before turning around and beginning to walk, shaking. They didn't care where they went, not right now. If the road didn't lead to home then Legend didn't care.
"Legend-?"
Legend ignored Warriors, continuing to walk. The longer their mind dwelled on home, on Ravio, the worse they felt. Legend was quite tired of feeling sad already.
Ravio. Legend missed him so much. The space between his teeth, his scarf. Sheerow. His laugh. The feeling of his hands against Legend's. The gentle curve of the back of his neck against Legend's hand. The stumble when they danced together.
Legend hadn't even received a letter from their husband in what, three, four weeks? Almost a month? (Married for tax purposes, Legend always insists. Lies.) What if Ravio was hurt? Worse, what if Ravio was dead? Fuck. The thought alone... Legend choked, giving a soft whine. They brought a hand over their mouth, trying to stifle it. Tried not to cry, don't cry, don't cry, don't-
A soft hand came down on Legend's shoulder, encouraging them to turn. Legend turned, eyes squeezed shut, biting their lip hard to try and make the pain there worse than the pain in their heart. Legend was gently pulled forwards into someone's chest- Time, only Time had that height -and Time's hand came up behind Legend's head to cradle it close. Ravio had always held them the exact same as Legend was being held by Time right now. It hurt.
"I'm sure the next portal we go through will be yours, Legend." Time said quietly. Legend gave a soft sob- the way they were being held, how much they missed Ravio, the soft tone, it was all too much- and that was all it took for them to lose the tiny bit of control they had over their emotions. Legend shakily put their arms around Time, fisting the back of the man's shirt tightly.
"I miss Ravio." Legend whispered, crying harder as soon as Ravio's name was out of their mouth.
"I know, Legend. You'll see him again soon." Time soothed, hugging Legend for an undetermined amount of time. By the time they were done, the rest had set up camp most of the way and Wild was making lunch. Legend sat down next to the fire, close to no one.
Warriors offered Legend whatever Wild had made for lunch. Legend refused, staring into the fire. An apple was put into their hand.
Legend looked at it, and reluctantly took a bite. It wasn't long before Hyrule was pressed to Legend's left side, trying to comfort. The soft tingle of magic against Legend was soothing, even if only a little. Wind quietly came to rest against Legend's other side, small hands fiddling with a seashell. Legend tiredly watched the fire, tuning everything out.
Ravio, Ravio, Ravio. Every heartbeat pressed Ravio's name into Legend's head. If they closed their eyes they could see their home. The place they put their shoes. Where they packed up their gear. The rocking chair. A table with a cup Legend had carved out of wood, when their hands didn't shake. A blanket that Ravio had crocheted, at the end of their shared bed.
Legend hugged themself, bringing a shaky hand to an earring in their ear. Enchanted with both a minor protection charm and a resistance to lightning. Ravio had given them to Legend for an anniversary. Legend took a shuddering breath. Their anniversary had already passed, and Legend didn't even get to spend it with their husband.
That night, Legend slept away from everyone, and poorly. They were grouchy all the way to the nearest stable, and then some. Warriors didn't jab at them even once the entire trip.
xxx
A week passed in Wild's world. A week and a half.
Two.
Every day, Legend was worse and worse. Everyone was quiet around them, lest they shatter whatever fragile state Legend was in. They cried, and frequently. No further words from Ravio, no reassurance that he was okay.
Three weeks.
Four.
xxx
They spent a month and a half in Wild's world. When the next portal appeared, everyone cheered. No matter how pretty Wild's world was, blood moons were no fun and neither were the guardians. Legend stepped through the portal first, and even chanced a prayer to Hylia. Another one to Lolia for good measure.
Please, let this one be mine. Let me be home.
They landed in an apple orchard. Legend rubbed their eyes and turned around to help Sky through, then Wind. When everyone was through, Legend put a hand on one of the trees, thumbing an engraving on it. L + R.
Link and Ravio. They'd engraved their initials in every one of these trees, after an escapade with a good bottle of wine.
Legend was home.
Legend started stripping themself of their gear, much to the Chain's surprise. They got their boots off, ignoring the questions, and started pulling on the Pegasus Boots. They started cursing up a storm when they had to untie the left one. As soon as they were on enough to stand, Legend clicked their heels and fucking bolted.
It didn't matter that they ran into a tree on the way there. All that mattered was the man in the purple button up, sleeves rolled up and hands in the garden soil. What mattered was the way he hummed and the way his fingers moved and the wedding band on a cloth beside him. Legend wrenched the boots off their feet as soon as Ravio was in their sight, and yelled for him.
"Rav! Ravio, I'm home!" Legend had tears in their eyes, scrambling to get to Ravio.
"Link?" Ravio's head whipped around, and he dropped whatever he had been trying to plant. He'd barely risen to his feet before Legend barreled into him, hugging almost tight enough to bruise.
"Link-? Oh, honey." Ravio whispered, as Legend started crying hard.
"I missed you, I missed you so much, Rav. I love you. I was so worried when you didn't send any letters, I thought you could've been dead and-" Legend whispered, the rest of the words lost against Ravio's skin, holding so tight as if Ravio would disappear like the girl on the island. Legend wouldn't be able to take it if that happened again.
"Breathe, dear. I missed you too, and I love you just as much. If not more. I was equally worried, since I haven't heard word from you in months." Ravio said softly, and even though his hands were covered in dirt, he brought one of them to cradle the back of Legend's head very firmly. Even though Time had held them like this more than a month ago, it hadn't felt the same.
This was home, and it smelled like lavender and apple soap. The other hand landed on Legend's back. They were still swaying lightly together when the rest of the Chain caught up. Sky flopped down onto the grass, wheezing. After a few moments, both Hyrule and Four joined him.
Legend whined very audibly when Ravio tried pulling away, tightening their grip.
"Link, we've got visitors."
"Don't care. Please, stay, please. Just a little bit longer, Rav. It's been so long. I was so scared." Legend's voice was soft, barely heard, whispered against skin.
Ravio sighed, and kissed Legend on the forehead.
"A little bit longer, then." Ravio sniffled, tightening his hold.
Link's wedding band glittered on their right hand, the only ring that Legend had brought themselves to wear for a while. They'd polished and fiddled with it a little obsessively. Sheerow twittered about, pulling at Legend's hair, nipping at his ear tips, his own little way of saying, "Hello, welcome home, missed you."- no matter how irritating. Sheerow was gently told something by Ravio, and after a moment, Ravio's right hand had the same ring resting on the designated finger.
"You're alright, honeybun. I'm here." Soft, whispered against Legend's cheekbone.
"I'm real."
Legend sobbed, squeezing tight.
Ravio was here, and he was very, very real.

Concept: Mel x Elora. Best friends/ work wives to lovers vibes. Discuss.
(Yes, I'm pushing the "Mel is sapphic/bisexual" agenda and what about it? You can't convince me she hasn't pulled at least one woman at some point in her Piltover career.)
Yeah, Mel is definitely bi.
Anyway, I'm a Meljay truther, but I do occasionally muse on her and Elora as lovers. She voluntarily left everything behind and followed Mel into exile. When I think of them, I always end up thinking of a bible verse:
"And Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee; for whither thou goest, I will go, and where thou lodgest, I will lodge. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God."
A lot of people interprete Ruth and Naomi as sapphic because of this verse, and you know it's basically Mel and Elora.

Sometimes I feel like I love too deeply while others, I feel as though I will never love how I should. I want to cherish and care for others yet hurt people I'm supposed to love as I am but a broken human. I may be broken but that's not necessarily all negative as it's like a geode; to see the beauty inside one must first break the rock. We are shaped by our experiences and the people around us; rocks and pieces of wood being shaped and changed by the currents of life.

Even tho the musical has no specific POV I always felt like the scene when she gets in the boat for the first time is biased towards how Erik would describe the encounter, like “oh it was so cool and mysterious and the candles were amazing and the sewer mist added so much atmosphere and she was rly into it”

@scnsuality continued from this post.
Tumblr media
Of all the possible scenarios Gabe had envisioned for how his night might end, this was not one of them. He even considered being blue-balled by his boyfriend yet again but this? This had never been part of his wildest fantasies, not even the repressed ones. Sure, Oliver was cute as a button and had a killer body, and part of Gabriel's brain had felt attracted to the boy -he'll even admit he found him way more handsome than his current boyfriend- but he'd never considered screwing the younger man up until that very night. However, he wasn't upset over the outcome: Jonathan had left yet again to do God knows what right when things were getting interesting -meaning Gabriel had a raging nine-inch boner throbbing inside his pants- and Gabe had had enough.
So now, he was here: thrusting balls deep inside his boyfriend's younger brother, feeling the tightness of his body wrapped around his cock, and he had to admit it felt pretty fucking fine. "God, you're so tight," he said between grunts and thrusts. The position they were in allowed Gabriel to push the entirety of his length inside Oliver's body and it amazed him how well the younger man was taking it. "So good for me--"
A few more punctuated thrusts and he shifted his body a little to ensure his cockhead pushed directly against Oliver's prostate every time he shoved in. "No," he mumbled and kissed the other on the jaw. "Your brother can never take it this deep. He always complains it's too big. But you like it, don't you baby boy? You like your brother's boyfriend's cock?"

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE BITS OF Karen Miller’s Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth
- Obviously the infamous scene of Ahsoka watching Obi-Wan and Anakin. “At least [Anakin] had Master Kenobi’s company for a little while. She was sure that accounted for [Anakin’s] relief. They cheered each other up, those two. No matter how dire the straits, Anakin and Master Kenobi always managed to find a joke, a laugh, some way to ease the tension and pressure of the moment. Between the two men lay absolute trust. Absolute faith.”
- The two of them getting so lost in each other, like only 10 pages into this book, that they literally forget that other people are in the room. (”They stared at [Ahsoka], startled, as though for a moment they’d forgotten she existed.”)
- Ahsoka telling Torrent Company: “No more dying. It's against regulations.”
- The Republic running the war like an absolute circus. They lose all comms, but ‘trust the force’ or whatever and go ahead with the plan anyway. Yoda gives battle orders that are “cryptic”. Anakin and Obi-Wan refuse to include others in their plans, which are “vague” and very much improvisational, driving Admiral Yularen to absolute despair in the process.
Yularen: when should we launch the battleships? Anakin: I’ll signal you Yularen: okay, what’s the signal? Anakin: Obi-Wan will know Yularen: okay, Obi-Wan, what’s the signal? Obi-Wan: we don’t actually have a signal, but don’t worry, I’ll tell you when Anakin psychically force-messages me Yularen: *starts mentally composing his resignation*
- Obi-Wan and Anakin making breakfast plans together. Like they actually decide what time they’ll meet and everything. In fact, Obi-Wan is willing to delay his own breakfast so they can eat together, because Anakin wants to sleep in (*have morning sex with Padmé)
- “Obi-Wan indulged in his own swift smile. Yes. They were indeed working in sync. And he realized then how much he’d missed this. Had missed Anakin and the way they could read each other without the need for clumsy words. [...] Working without Anakin was like working half blind.”
- Ahsoka and Rex’s relationship! He calls her “little’un” and she literally stands guard at his hospital bed when he gets injured. It’s everything.
- Both Anakin and Obi-Wan being (almost uncharacteristically so?) generous with their praise towards their respective padawans, and yet neither Ahsoka, not Anakin considering the praise enough.
- This is especially funny, considering Obi-Wan tells Anakin he should never “feel bad for being extraordinary” (which in turn has Anakin think “How could he be extraordinary and let Obi-Wan [hypothetically] come to harm?”) and that there is “no escaping the fact” that Anakin is “the most gifted Jedi the Temple has ever seen”, that sometimes he can’t imagine who he’d be today if not for Anakin, and god, this one makes me deranged: “I cannot deny this: knowing you has made me a better Jedi”
- Meanwhile, there is this one bit where Obi-Wan is super judgmental about Palpatine having a soft spot for Anakin, like I’m sorry, have you ever looked in the mirror, sir
- Anakin immediately getting attached to every single person he meets, and being very dramatic about demanding Obi-Wan help him save them all, which prompts Obi-Wan to proclaim in his head: “He’s as bad as Qui-Gon. Picking up strays...”
- When Obi-Wan literally spends minutes mid-battle just staring out a window, worrying about Anakin, and fucking Admiral Yularen has to be like ‘he is a very capable young man, you know, I’m sure he’ll be fine?’ This is only made better when 200 pages later, Anakin stares at a boarded up window, worrying about Obi-Wan, and a kidnapped scientist, who met them two seconds ago, has to awkwardly pretend she believes him when he claims he’s not worried about Obi-Wan.
- In fact, throughout this whole novel, Anakin and Obi-Wan do not stop worrying about each other, and actually most of their conversations start with ‘are you okay?’
- At one point Anakin reroutes an entire medevac ship to get Obi-Wan off-planet, then - instead of doing his job of escorting humanitarian aid delegates - calls ahead and orders a fucking admiral to escort Obi-Wan to the medbay. Then he calls ahead to the medbay to make sure they’re expecting Obi-Wan.
- Related: the scene where Obi-Wan tells Ahsoka off for worrying about Anakin and not focusing on the present, then proceeds to worry about Anakin and not focus on the present.
- Anakin being super attuned to Obi-Wan’s body. There’s a bit where he feels that Obi-Wan didn’t get medical attention for his battle wounds, then later on can sense Obi-Wan’s physical aches and tiredness, like his own
- How according to Bail, Obi-Wan stares at the Jedi Temple “as though it were a long-lost lover” and with “longing” in his eyes
- Threepio asking after Artoo when Anakin calls, to make sure he’s okay after battle, awwwwww
- Yoda having the biggest soft spot for Obi-Wan, his fave grandchild. He bonds with Anakin over forcing Obi-Wan to stay in the Halls of Healing. He invites Obi-Wan to tea. He sleeps in the comm centre, so he can immediately hear news on how Obi-Wan’s mission is going. He tells Obi-Wan he’s been drawn to him since he was an infant, because Obi-Wan burns in the Force’s light. They tell him Obi-Wan’s comming him and he’s like “Excellent.” Some very relatable stuff there, ngl.
- Anakin being super unhinged, in the most iconic way. He throws a chair out of frustration, sits on top of a table in the Archives, punches a wall because he’s angry, asks Obi-Wan what a tauntaun is, refers to his past self as a “meek little Padawan” (this has Obi-Wan losing it), gets so mad that Padmé’s not home that he breaks a laser turret with his hand, tells Obi-Wan to “just sit there and be wrong”, sends a whole hangar full of people home early from work, because he “prefers to work [on his ship] without distractions”. Like he is truly mad and I love him.
- Similarly, I adore how Obi-Wan is an absolute insane person during 75% of this book. Half the time he opens his mouth is to be unhelpfully sarcastic, the other half is to chide Anakin, like he is 5 years old, just before acting like a 5 year old himself. Some glorious characterisation there, Karen Miller, hats off, honestly.
- Obi-Wan praising Anakin to anyone who will listen and constantly making excuses for him whenever someone criticises him! This bit stands out in particular:
Obi-Wan: do you regret letting me train Anakin? Yoda: well, you did your best Obi-Wan: um, that’s kinda vague...? Yoda: you have to admit he’s a bit difficult Obi-Wan: EXCUSE ME WHAT DO YOU MEAN DIFFICULT Yoda: you know him better than anyone, surely you can admit he can be difficult Obi-Wan: *changes the topic, but keeps thinking about how Yoda is so so incredibly wrong, and how Anakin is the best*
- “You know, General, some say young Skywalker’s the crazy one, the reckless one, the Jedi most likely to go down in a blaze of glory. I used to say it - but now I’m not so sure. In your own quiet way you can be just as terrifying.”
- When Anakin leaves Obi-Wan alone for two seconds, so he just starts aimlessly wandering about the Temple, like some lost youngling or something
- Padmé having so much love Obi-Wan. It makes her so happy seeing him and Anakin smile together because good friends like that are hard to find !!!! She tells Anakin to bring him back safe from their mission !!! When she worries about Anakin, she sometimes also remembers Obi-Wan exists and is also in danger !! (No, seriously though, she is very cute about Obi-Wan this whole book.)
- “My Master would die before he’d let anything happen to Master Kenobi.” Ugh, that’s just. Yeah.

starter for @thiefofcrows!
She didn't spend much time in Little Ravka if she could help it; it made her melancholy and homesick, not for the country that she had never seen, but for the distant land of a half-remembered childhood where she and her mother had lived in a cramped one-room tenement a few blocks away, before Lizabeta sold her labour to a mercher to support Sigrid and then found that her new master had no place for a Grisha indenture's underfoot brat. She couldn't remember if it was a better time or not, but it felt enough like one from her hazy memories that it was best forgotten.
However, it was neutral territory. The gangs didn't operate much this close to the Ravkan embassy with its Second Army representatives, well-trained Grisha with no interest in indulging Ketterdam bullshit on their doorstep, and the cafe did have very good tea, a cup of which sat untouched before her while she tried to look calm and relaxed. For all his reputation as more than a little unhinged - a well-earned reputation, as she understood it - she had never heard of Brekker escalating a negotiation without provocation. She had no interest in provoking him, and if she did, Breina was tucked into a booth on the other side of the cafe with a small mountain of blini to keep her occupied, so it wasn't as if Sigrid was on her own. So why was she this anxious?
Well. For starters, there was the general chaos the Razorgulls had been host to over the last few weeks. Conrad's disappearance had unsettled them all - and Sigrid had had to play up a concern felt for an entirely different reason as she tried to get it under control and made a show of hunting for who was responsible. The dutiful daughter to the man who had imagined himself her adoptive father, who, thank the Saints, was now dead and gone on the Reaper's Barge. She and Breina and Tore had kept their heads cool for six weeks, and nobody seemed the wiser as to what had happened that moonless night by the canal, least of all Conrad Gull's mourning compatriots.
And to continue, there was the matter of Tore's little sister. The thirteen-year-old Fjerdan Grisha was what really kept her up at night, worried out of her mind about how on earth she was supposed to keep Vigdis safe. Had Sigrid been so young when she was thirteen? She could swear she'd felt like a grown woman even then, had certainly been treated like one, but maybe that was just the price of a childhood in Ketterdam. You grew up fast, or you didn't get to grow up at all.
There was no clock in the cafe, so Sigrid couldn't tell if she was painfully early or if Brekker was late, but either way, the waiting was excruciating. He had agreed to speak with her, and if nothing else she was sure he was good for that. With a sigh she kicked at the legs of the empty chair across from her, just in time to see the cafe door open out of the corner of her eye and Dirtyhands himself in the doorway. She waved to catch his attention and sat back in her chair, willing the tension out of her body as she took a sip of her (drinkable, finally) tea. "I was worried you'd gotten lost," she said conversationally, and then grinned. "Should I have given you directions as the crow flies?"
