˚⁀➷。˚ REVENGE [PART TWO TO KINSLAYER] ━━━ AEMOND TARGARYEN X FEM! READER
Tumblr media
part one.
synopsis: following your brave defeat of aemond targaryen in the battle of rook’s rest, your dragon silverwing delivers your body back to your mother in dragonstone. as you are discovered, a swearing of revenge is made as your body burns in its funeral pyre.
request: kinslayer is so good. would you ever write a little drabble to see the sadness of her family. especially her mother? also to see how this changed the dance. would you ever write a different ending? where before she fell silverwing saves her. like toothless did with hiccup. i adore it and need more. only if you want to of course.
notes: a bit longer than a drabble but i hope you enjoy anyways😭 thank you sm also to @dracaryxzs @hikaerys @delightfulbluebirdtidalwave & @quickamateur for requesting a part two of the black’s reaction to the reader’s death. i had so much fun exploring what the characters would feel like, esp jacaerys. tbh i don’t think i would write an alternative ending bc i just love writing angst wayyyy too much (it’s a problem)
there’s also a lack of jacaerys requests in my inbox which i think you should all fix by pressing here!
warnings: brief descriptions & mentions death, funeral pyre, angst, feelings of sadness after a death of loved one, burning, self-blame
word count: 1.9k
THE SHRIEKING SCREAM OF SILVERWING WAS THE ONLY THING THAT COULD BE HEARD FOR MILES. it was a shriek of pure pain, a cut wedged so deep had made its home in the poor dragon's heart as she had no choice but to watch on as you plunged your sword into aemond targaryen's eye. silverwing had tried her hardest to swoop down and rescue your body as both you and the man you loved plummeted to the ground in each other's arms. your limbs were intertwined with aemond's, your soul's holding the same love they had held many years ago in your final moments.
your body had crashed to the forest floor from the great height, dying immediately - still weaved with aemond's.
another heart-wrenching scream was heard from silverwing as the bond you two had shared had completely severed with your death. all she could do now was search the forest for you and bring back your fractured body to your mother.
silverwing had gently picked up your body in her claws, so not to bring you anymore damage than the fall had done. she had completely disregarded the body of your previous lover, sword still plunged in his eye. small whimpers left her body as she rose slowly into the air flying back to dragonstone, having lost another rider had left the dragon in an immense amount of pain as you had reminded her greatly of the good queen alyssane, her first rider.
aegon having fled the battle the moment he had witnessed aemond's death had left rhaenys velaryon, your grandmother, with too little time to come to your aid. piercing cries escaped her lips as she could do nothing but watch you fall to your death. knowing this is what you had wanted still did not heed the tears that escaped her lilac eyes, nor did it stop the blame she held for herself as she accompanied your dragon back to dragonstone, wishing over and over that it had been her instead of you, something she knew she would wish until the end of her days.
the shrieks of pain silverwing had let out alerted the dragon's on the island as she drew near. many stirred at the noise in fright, but none seemed to be as fretted as vermax, who had replied to silvering's bellow with one in return.
with the sound of her two children's dragon's shrieks, rhaenyra knew something was wrong. her gut instinct had told her something had happened to you, as jace remained safely within the castle. rushing to her balcony, she fixed her gaze intently across the sea for any sign of you, holding her breath as she noticed silverwing's flapping wings over the horizon. as she drew closer rhaenyra's eyes scanned her saddle, and noticing you weren't atop it her eyes flickered hastily down to her trembling claws.
she was clutching your lifeless body.
tears streamed down rhaenyra's face as she fell to the ground. uncontrallable sobs left her lips as her body violently shook in pain. admitting defeat she crumbled against the pillars of her balcony. as she did, her eyes bore into the sky above that painted in blues purples and oranges alike. she cursed at all the gods she could as it dawned on her this was what the sky held when lucerys had died just moons before. no amount of screams or curses at both the green's and gods would ever stop the blame that rhaenyra held for herself for your death, she knew you were not ready for battle yet she still sent you anyway.
your heart still held onto the embers of girlhood which was seen in the way you teased jace, the joy you found when you played with your younger brother's and the soft smiled that adorned your lips as she combed and braided your hair with a gold plated brush. you were too young to pass. you were meant to outlive her, to live a happy life with a husband and children who you adored - something you would never get to do it now. rhaenyra's painful screams were carried off into the wind, her grief-stricken body stuck to the place she had fallen, as her gaze at the sky hardened. she swore that whatever force had killed you would be killed in return. she knew it would never bring you back, her only daughter was gone from this world, but she needed for herself to seek revenge in your name.
━━━━━━━━━━ *ੈ✩‧₊˚ ━━━━━━━━━
it had been jacaerys who had went to greet your dragon. the poor boy did not realise anything was amiss at first. he trodded happily down to your dragon to congratulate you on your first victory, proud of his younger sister. it wasn't until he noticed silverwing's sad demeanour, how her entire body trembled in despair, curled up into a ball not allowing any guard to pass through the wall she had made. as jace approached the dragon she murmured a small cry as she began to uncurl, the strange behaviour making his mind run rampant and tears start to prickle in his eyes.
no. no.
it was only a matter of seconds before jace's knees buckled, falling to floor where you lay stretched out on the floor.
he couldn't believe it, you were so full of life only a mere few hours ago.
reaching for you, he pulled your head onto his lap, cradling your body as he did. he couldn't stop the tears that poured from his cheeks landing softly on your skin, as sobs erupted from his lips. he had hoped in some delusional way, that you would somehow awake, that if he just stayed by your side cradling you, you would return and call him stupid for worrying so much.
the pain of lucerys had returned tenfold. he was meant to protect you, you were his younger sister for gods sake, only a year between the two of you, you had been as thick as theives. always teasing each other, throwing food across the table when petty arguments broke out. the two of you had stuck by each other's sides as you became aware of the questions that arose from the colour of your hair when luke was still too young to understand. you were meant to stay by his side, he had long since planned to make you his hand as you had always been there as his biggest advisor - the person he had trusted most in this world.
jacaerys like his mother, blamed himself. he should have been their to protect you, because that's what brother's are for, right?
there was no doubt he was a targaryen in that moment. his wetted eyes dried with a rage he had never felt before. he too swore at the sky, cursing every green, every god who had willed your fate, his voice breaking as he did. jacaerys did not care what life lay ahead of him in that moment, being heir was long from his mind as he bellowed that he would exact your revenge even if it meant he would die too.
shallow breathes were taken as he brought his brown eyes onto your closed ones, still laying still in his lap. his anger had quickly faded at the sight of you again, his chest vibrating as he struggled to regain oxygen into his lungs. the softer side of jacaerys velaryon had once more returned as he allowed his forehead to rest against your cold one. his hands absentmindedly began to run through your hair, whispering soft "it will be okay" and "i love you's" as the tears silently fell from his glassy eyes, unsure of whether it was to reassure himself or you.
━━━━━━━━━━ *ੈ✩‧₊˚ ━━━━━━━━━
rain drops fell from the sky in a heavy rhythm, landing in small plops the cliff side where your family gathered for small funeral pyre after your body had be retrieved. it had been jacaerys who had suggested the place, knowing how you and luke had enjoyed coming up to sit peacefully and read together.
the somber mood was evident as the rain continued to poor from the sky, each person having their heart ripped out from their chest all over again as they looked upon you body. you had almost looked like you were sleeping if it wasn't for the fact you had turned a sickly pale colour, and your chest failing to rise and fall with the inhale and exhale of oxygen.
the group of targaryen's, velaryon's and silverwing the dragon, gathered around the small wooden pyre as they said their final goodbye's to you. daemon had approached the wooden frame, placing the sword your drove deep into your lover's eye next to you that he had managed to retrieve. he hadn't been aware of how much the sword had meant to you, but to him it showed the fierce love and protection he had felt. despite not being his own daughter, he had loved you like one - always taking the time to teach you the art of sword fighting despite the other knight's looking down on it. he returned to his wife's side who nodded him in gratitude for loving her little girl the way a father should.
tears threatened to spill from jacaerys glassy eyes as he began to approach your body next, his hand clutched little joffrey's who was still too small to understand where his elder sister had left to and why she had yet to return. he had placed the letter's the two of you had exchanged when he had visited the north, the fascination you had for the wall had always brought a smile to his lips when you had asked him questions. even now, a watery smile played on his lips thinking of it as he returned to his place next to his mother.
small sniffles could also be heard from the two targaryen girls - rhaena and baela - who stood on the opposite end of the pyre, the two girls reminiscing on the time you did spend together talking about boys, and giggling as you gossiped whilst sewing. their grandmother stood tall next to them as she gripped both their hands tightly, grounding herself with the thought that you would have wanted her to project the love she had for you onto your two cousins whom you had loved deeply.
the last to approach the pyre was your mother. her silent demeanour had been an obvious sign that her sadness had been replaced by a vicious anger that would not be calmed. leaning over the wood, she had placed the gold plated hair brush next to you, the very one she had combed your dark locks earlier that day creating the style you had always favoured, recalling how you had always begged her to do whilst you were still alive.
rhaenyra's lips left a ghost of a kiss on your forehead before she stepped back. calling silverwing forward in high valyrian, the dragon let out a number of whimpers and cries as she knew what came next.
"dracarys"
a single tear drop shed from rhaenyra's eyes as she turned away from the burning embers, her promise of revenge at the forefront of her mind.
"broken by the loss of one son, rhaenyra targaryen seemed to find new strength in the loss of a second. her eldest daughter's death hardened her, burning away her fears, leaving only her anger and her hatred."

Platonic Hiccup Haddock III with his sister? Thank you
Sure! Sorry for the long wait, I wasn't sure what direction to take this so this is me thinking of small scenarios.
Yandere! Platonic! Hiccup with Sister! Darling
Pairing: Platonic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Female Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Manipulation, Fear of Loss, Clingy behavior, Jealousy, Slight stalking, Hellicopter brother, Dubious companionship.
Tumblr media
I like to imagine maybe you're the younger sister of Hiccup or are similar in age.
You've been raised alongside your brother and father, believing your mother is dead.
Your father is naturally overprotective of you, which probably makes Hiccup overprotective of you.
Ever since the "death" of your mother, Hiccup has been taught to watch over you.
This overprotective behavior is no doubt why later in life you don't get a dragon for awhile.
Platonic! Hiccup is no doubt just him being a helicopter brother to you.
Hiccup seems like the type to worry about every little thing when it comes to his sister's safety.
For example, he'd fuss over your protective gear before you eventually ride a dragon.
He'd want to pick a dragon he knows can protect you rather than one you want.
He's a bit paranoid when it comes to you.
However... he's still a brother.
He tries to support you, he even takes you on rides with Toothless if he knows Toothless will be gentle.
He often has Toothless help train your dragon so Hiccup knows they're safe.
Even when you both find out your mom is alive, Hiccup doesn't relent.
In fact, he even tells your mom how well he protected you.
His worries only get worse when your father dies, anyways....
You just know Hiccup is one of those overprotective brothers who judges who you're around.
He's no doubt used to when you both played together as kids.
That and he just... wants to make sure your friends and potential partners are safe.
I feel Hiccup wouldn't isolate you... but he'd insert himself into your conversations.
He makes it clear to people that he's looking out for you.
Much to your dismay.
He's naive to the fact you may not like him around all the time.
He's so used to betrayal and playing protector that he forgets he's supposed to let you be independent.
To him, he feels he'll always be part of your life.
It hurts him when you try and push him way.
You're not kids anymore.
He seems to have trouble understanding that.
He gets a bit jealous when you have a life of your own, speaking with friends and maybe even finding a partner.
He tries his best to bottle it for you, to have you happy.
But he can't help but have Toothless follow you or one of his other friends check in on you.
There's times he has to hold back on telling off those around you... seeing them as "bad influences".
He probably means well... yet at some point he should learn that he has to let you go.
A platonic yandere Hiccup would focus more on his sister's safety than her happiness.
He feel you're happiest with him.
Which makes him threaten and judge your social circle.
You can tell him off, yet he may just ignore you.
In his eyes, you're his sister... he's your protector and you should rely on him.
Which unfortunately just drives you apart... making him try harder... which causes more harm than good.
Sure, you two originally got along.
You originally did everything together.
Hiccup is so used to that, so deep in his delusions... That he may socially isolate you on accident.
However, to him? It doesn't matter too much...
He'll promise to be the best for you as your brother... just please stop ignoring him...!
"Did... did I do something wrong...? I just want you safe, I swear! Please don't look at me like that!"

Addicted | Luke Hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: when Alex and Trevor decide to voice their feelings about you it causing Luke to reevaluate his own.
song: Kiss Me - Ed Sheeran
request: yes/no
warnings: mention of underaged drinking, slight bit of swearing.
word count: 2.03k
authors note: this song has been calling my name since I put it on the playlist, and let me just saw that I’m not upset in the slightest. This picture of Luke made me laugh so much that I had to put it in. If you want to check out the rest of the celly you can do so here!
Tumblr media
Luke had been in love with you for years.
Thoughts of you consumed his mind from the moment he woke up until the moment he went to sleep. His heart rate would increase and his palms would grow sweaty as he watched you run across campus before you’d tackle him into a bear hug even though you saw him the day before. Every time you were in a more revealing outfit he’d stumble on his words like he had never spoken English before. Every year it was like half of his brain cells never made it to the lake house as all he could do was watch in awe as you’d walk around in shorts and your bikini tops.
But it was fine because you felt the same way as Luke.
The first time you realised this was after a ballet recital of yours when you were six and somehow Ellen convinced all three of her sons to come and Luke said that your tutu was pretty on you.
It like your whole world combusted in that moment as your semi toothless grin joined the conversation “you think so pookie?”
“I know so sparky.” Luke was never one to shy away from complimenting you and it made you swear he only did it to screw with you. The way your cheeks turned crimson red as you’d chew as the inside of your cheeks trying to hold in the inevitable squeal of joy at the compliment.
All of the scales seemed to increase when you went off to college, your friendship grew stronger as you remained his number one supporter, your love for him grew deeper as his eyes never left you at parties because other girls were never what he wanted. Clearly since everyone else could see this you would should have as well, right?
Wrong.
Totally absolutely positively wrong.
His love for you could have been written in big pieces of card in front of your face and it might as well have been like you were reading another language because you wouldn’t have believed it. The same thing went for Luke, every guy you turned down never made him feel more confident. In fact it usually made him feel worse.
You had the most athletic players flirting with you, the start football and baseball players all weren’t good enough for you. So what was to say that some hockey player would be what you wanted?
Luke was usually a confident man, he got that from being around Jack that it became a learnt trait. Yet you seemed to make him feel like a normal kid again. There was no need for the title of being drafted, or for his family name. To you he was just Luke or your pookie and it slowly ate up at him.
Just like every other year July meant it was lake house time. It was the third day of the trip and it was hotter than ever, literally the sun was scorching and you were out soaking it all up. Your bikini was the smallest one in your closet and it avoid the tan lines your top string was undone as your stomach lay on your towel.
Luke had been enjoying the sight he really was, your feet occasionally bounced as you had your favourite songs blaring through your AirPods and it was a sight that made his mouth water.
But when Trevor and Alex walked back in from the porch and started talking about you it caused the youngest Hughes boys mood to turn for the worse.
Trevor shook his head as he grabbed a drink from the fridge “I don’t know how you haven’t made a move yet Hughesy,” he confessed as he cracked the cap of the bottle open.
Alex nodded in agreement “huh?” Luke furrowed his eyebrows as he knew that they were talking about you.
The Ducks player smiled “y/n is out of this world,” he pointed out as none of the older boys were stupid, you were a pretty girl and they all knew it.
Except Trevor was the only one who ever let you know about it, the constant flirting that came from his lips during this lake house trip. It seemed you being over the age of eighteen let you move away from the title of only being Luke’s friend.
Words of warning wanting to tell Trevor to fuck off were desperate to leave Luke’s mouth yet they couldn’t as you walked into the living room.
An oblivious smile formed on your face “what are y’all talking about?” You asked as you reached into the fridge to grab the container of cut up mango that you had made earlier that morning.
Trevor let his outstretched hand reach into the container as he took a piece “just about going for a ride on the boat later,” he lied as his eyes never left your mouth as some of the fruit juice dribbled down your chin landing on your bikini top “hope there is room for me on that boat,” there always was room for you but you were enjoying flirting with Trevor.
Sure you weren’t attracted to him like that but he certainly wasn’t harsh on your eyes “for you sparky? Always.” The nickname was one that you had picked up when you were five, you learnt what electric currents were when you found two wires in Quinn’s room and decided to place them together. The eldest Hughes couldn’t help but laugh when he walked in to see how your eyes lit up like you were in a candy store.
Luke scrunched his nose at the smile you sent the ducks player as you continued you eat your mango but when you pushed your hair behind your ears letting your chest now be on full display the Hughes boy could no longer take it “put this on,” he mumbled as he held out his baseball jersey.
You furrowed your eyebrows as you looked white fabric “okay?” You shrugged as you took the Tigers home jersey and slotted your arms into it.
But that didn’t seem to be enough for Luke as he came over to you and began to button the buttons up “Luke!” You groaned saying exactly what Alex and Trevor were thinking as they sent the boy a glare “perfect,” Luke smiled as he softly pulled your hair out of the jersey letting it lay flat behind your back.
His dagger eyes were sent to both Alex and Trevor the entire day, even on the boat when Quinn was teaching you to drive it and even when you were on Luke’s lap.
“Am I missing something?”
Your question pulled Luke out of his thoughts as he looked at you “what?” He asked as he let his fingers draw over your leg.
It irritated you as you could see that something seemed to be going on between Luke and the two older boys “you seem mad at them,” you sighed as your lips formed into a pout.
Sure it might have been childish to be upset but Luke usually told you everything “it’s nothing,” he shook his head causing your fingers to grip at your can of seltzer.
Yet your pokes didn’t go quiet like he’d hoped “Luke-” your soft words were only met with a glare “just drop it okay?” His complaint was only met with your wide eyes.
Thankfully at that time you were in need of a new drink. So you got up to get yourself a refill.
The boys watched in amusement as you walked back into the house “you really fucked that one up Lukey,” Trevor teased only adding to the boys anger.
Luke clenched his fist “you need to shut the fuck up dude!” He warned as he got up as he pointed his finger at the older boy.
It seemed like this was all bubbling up over today “just go ahead all to her,” Quinn’s voice was soft as he knew that you were on his brothers mind.
The youngest Hughes boy took a large gulp as he remembered that he had lashed out at you first.
Your head remained in the fridge as you looked at the different options for drinks.
The cool air on your face made you grow calm. It was soothing as you tried to not cry, you knew you were overreacting but all of Luke’s actions today seemed to weigh up on you in this never ending battle that you had created based on the feelings you felt towards the boy. Your thoughts were pulled away from your brain as the sound of the glass sliding door shut.
You turned around and was already faced with Luke “Jesus Christ!” You cursed as you clenched your chest.
Luke’s face softened as he looked at you “sorry,” he apologised as he crossed his arms.
He wanted to reach out to hug you “why are you so mad at them?” You asked as you watched the hockey player pick at the bracelet on his wrist.
All of the explanations that went through his mind all didn’t sound valid “it’s stupid,” that was the honest truth, he knew he was over reacting but that didn’t make it any less irritating to deal with.
You scoffed as you sat on the counter “that never stopped you from telling me,” you pointed out as most nights were spent with Luke in your bed laying his bed on your chest as you combed your fingers through his hair.
The way your lips were plump and your cheeks were tinted with a hint of red from the sun that had landed on in them made you look so very kissable.
But Luke remained stood where he was “they think you’re hot,” he explained with his voice barely a whisper as though he was ashamed to admit to it.
Your laugh made him feel better “do they now?” It was a clear stroke to your ego as you watched the boy grow embarrassed.
It shouldn’t have been nearly as amusing as it was “you thinking I’ve got a new best friend to get?” You joked causing him to furrow his eyebrows with annoyance.
Luke situated himself between your legs “‘ts not funny,” he mumbled as he rested his head on your shoulder.
A smile found its way onto your face “it’s pretty funny,” you nodded as you hooked your fingers under his jaw forcing him to look at you.
Your eyes were soft as they studied every feature on his face as though it was the first time you’d seen his face “it doesn’t matter if they think I’m hot,” you explained as you watched his face grow confused “only matter if it comes from a guy who hasn’t even said it.” You added as your tongue darted between your lips.
The hockey remained as clueless as ever when you let your thumb run along his jaw “who?” He was almost asking because he needed to finally hear that dose of reality of who it was that went through you mind in the way you went through his.
A moment of silence was heard so loud that a penny dropping wouldn’t even be noticed “looking right at him.” You confessed causing his eyes to widen.
It was like he was at a crossroads as the ball was now in his court. Truly nothing went through his mind as he was desperate to find the right course of action. The girl he had loved for all of these years, the girl he had longed for to be more than just friends, the girl was you and here you were with all of your cards out waiting for him.
Yet there he was frozen in time.
Again it seemed like it was your turn once more. So you leaned forward as you kissed him, it was brain meltingly perfect. Like that moment you do something that feels so good it makes your brain all hazy, like that.
Luke pulled away with his smile as his finger ran over your lips “what’s got you all smiley?” You asked as you cocked your head.
“I got the girl of my dreams.”

highlights from "mi amore wing"
im fairly certain these screenshots are out of order. i am not going to put them in order
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
absolutely wild to put this dagcup-ass pose in the same episode as dagur and mala's engagement. like we dont see dagur and mala's actual proposal moment but we see this. (and im not complaining)
also - can we appreciate the autumn colours in these shots? damn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hiccup not noticing the necklace Astrid is literally dangling a few feet away (Toothless notices it though) meanwhile he spots a dragon eye lens from several feet away
Hiccup...
Honestly?
Relatable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hehe I love Snotlout's grumpy little "shut up" responses
Tumblr media
Hiccup once again being extremely relatable when he's struggling to understand how he's supposed to respond to Astrid's frustration. Just straight up asks "what would you like me to say?" Honestly...people should just say why they're upset or what they want you to notice. And tbh I felt like Astrid was a little out of character in this episode. I feel like it would have made more sense for her to be upset but she would keep it bottled up inside because she *didn't* want Hiccup to notice.
Tumblr media
he. is. so. fine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I understand where Astrid is coming from, but I strongly believe that what Hiccup and Astrid have is stronger and more stable than Dagur and Mala's relationship - not just because they've known each other longer, but because I just think the fact that they're comfortable with each other is a better indication than the life or death intensity of Dagur and Mala's attraction. That intensity is going to lessen at some point and if they don't learn how to adjust after the rose-tinted lens honeymoon period, things will not go very well.
(hence the dysfunctional dagur/mala dynamic ive referenced briefly before in a fic and that I will focus on in more depth in other fics)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Extremely bold of Krogan to say this while said "friends" are nearby
Tumblr media
Each facial expression here is priceless. Tuffnut is lucky to be alive.
Tumblr media
THIS. IS. WILD TO PUT IN A FAMILY SHOW.
ok yeah theyre definitely getting into some freaky stuff at home lol
Tumblr media
I really like this shot of Astrid. looks very dramatic and mysterious
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have i mentioned before that I love Dagur? I love him. Watching him rile Krogan up was so good.
Also...correct me if I'm wrong, but Dagur doesn't interact with Viggo after his redemption, right? I think it would be interesting to see whether Dagur would trust him or not.
Tumblr media
Astrid is blushing SO HARD
this scene had me giggling and kicking my feet ngl
and again - Astrid got cut off before finishing her though but they really don't have to be like Dagur and Mala. The level of comfort and familiarity Hiccup and Astrid have is wonderful.

to the anon who sent me the message that took them 4 hours to draft.
I think your experience both with organizing and disability has probably provoked you to rethink the entire concept of "success" as our culture has defined it, even if you feel yourself still longing for some of the comfort and ease that capitalistic success can seemingly provide (or that we are conditioned to believe it can provide). im not sure what to say that can match the effort your put into your message, in fact i am galled by the fact that i know that i can't match that effort. i don't know how to make sense of the fact that a person who is finding it incredibly difficult to remain connected and engaged during this time, due to disability, has decided that i was worth that level of effort when they don't have the energy to message people they know. i don't think i am worth that effort. but i also respect that mired in all that you're mired in, it's a meaningful gesture toward engagement and connection to even bother writing such a message. i just think in a lot of ways i am a misplaced target for it, because i am a ridiculously privileged and publicly exposed individual who receives dozens of heartfelt messages that he doesnt find the time to respond to every single day. i think if anything that i've written rubs you the wrong way you'd be right to approach it with cynicism. because what the fuck do i know, banging around on my laptop every day and getting paid for it. how dare i lecture anybody about not unlearning capitalism adequately enough. i am one of capitalisms little milking cows. a massive publishing company makes a weekly profit off of me, off the byproduct of the worst years of my life and my worst traumas, as well as the meaning i've made from the scholarship of others.
i'm so enraged for you that you got a debilitating case of COVID (after several other cases) on an encampment, and that now the community you foster at that encampment is not there for you. i am disgusted at how more seasoned activists and organizations have regarded student protestors as disposable this entire year, selling them out to the cops, cutting bad deals with campus administration, and sending them to yellow and red risk level actions without adequate communication and getting them kettled and beat, or else nullifying their efforts with mealy-mouthed talk about keeping things peaceful. i see so many toothless, neoliberal protests happening here, ones that serve only as fundraisers for massive nonprofit orgs, and i also see literal teenagers being dragged right into paddy wagons by the likes of the PSL or the RCP while the Dems deride them and dance to Brat tracks, not even pretending to care the way they unconvincingly did in say 2020.
It's all making me terribly cynical, wondering where we are headed and whether i can or should encourage people who are younger, stronger, more energetic, more pliable, and more vulnerable to me to give up all that they've got for a cause when it's likely gonna be chewed up and spit out and not met in effort by anyone else. i am mournful of the fact that even i can't match that effort. every time i get a message from a friend or acquaintance who is going through some new awful traumatizing event i want to just curl up and disappear, because i can't even keep up with sending compassionate messages to all of them, let alone actually showing the fuck up and doing anything for them. and so sometimes i slip into the disaffected, blunted feeling that once led me as a younger man into libertarianism, thinking that all i can or should do is look after my own wellbeing, and fuck everybody else. and obviously that is a horrible path that is not by any means moral and certainly didn't help me anyway. it felt like we were on the brink of a great paradigm shift of some kind, a collapse of these evil systems, and now it feels like all of that is as far away as it's ever been, and that there aren't enough people with class consciousness and care for one another to make it happen.
i don't know. i think we all have to abandon our dreams of success, of comfort, of saving the world, the fantasies of everything being fine. i think we need to look to our immediate surroundings and our communities. i think we need to ask for help a whole hell of a lot more than any of us are doing, and to recognize that that is a form of helping. i think we need to get small. and remember we are weak animals. and stop thinking there is anything special or chosen about us. and to remember that nature can often be very cruel and that there is nothing we are owed. disabled people already know this of course, we know life isn't fair. we try to do what we can and yet we wake up feeling even less capable the next day, and it knows no logic and the universe remains indifferent to it. but there are people around us who can care, when we ask them to. and ways that we can just be there alongside one another in the muck of it all. not even necessarily making things better. certainly not being a savior and making the pain go away. maybe just sitting in the muck together.
all of which is to say, i am feeling stuck and overwhelmed and useless myself, anon, and i dont have any more answers than you. but thanks for messaging. im sorry people have taking advantage of you. including in my opinion lots of other activists. looking after yourself and not letting people guilt you doesn't mean turning into a conservative. the kind of anarchy that i am embracing right now is one that goes beyond linear change, beyond making meaning, beyond any idealistic visions of the future, beyond even fighting for some kind of symbolic survival. it's just being. none of it has to mean anything, none of it has to be headed anywhere. it just is. there is plenty for you to be bitter about.

It was late at night. The full moon shined above, and Selena stood at the edge of berk, over looking the ocean. In her hands was what remained of a broken blade. Permanently stained black by the scorches of the black dragon.
"What would you do if you were here?" She said to the blade. "I know you would have gotten yourself into trouble somehow. But you'd figure out how to fix everything. You should be here not -" Selena's voice cracked as the tears came rolling down her face.
It had been a long day, but Hiccup was feeling refreshed from a late night flight with Toothless.
They had just circled the island, about to head home, when Hiccup caught some movement on the shore below. "Is that...? Toothless, let's land over on the beach there."
The dragon complied, landing softly in the sand.
Hiccup recognized Selena in the moonlight, and he approached her cautiously.
"Hey...are you alright? Is something wrong?"

Butt of the Joke
Something I enjoy in stories is when you can laugh at and with a character. To me, it keeps them from seeming too "important" or flawless. We all make mistakes and being able to laugh at ourselves is nice. That's why I like when they do this with Dagur, but the method is very different from what's done to Snotlout. Something I will probably always be grateful for is that Dagur is a show character and not a movie character. Those in the movies (the rest of the Riders anyway in my opinion) had their development stunted. I'm convinced that the first movie didn't expect the franchise to get as big as it did and just needed some other people to fill out the cast. Unfortunately, they also didn't expect the shows to be super popular. So, Snotlout in HTTYD 3 is still immature enough to flirt with the widowed mom of one of his best friends when RTTE Snotlout would understand how inappropriate that is. All that's to say that the jokes for Snotlout are often at the expense of his character because he still has to end up at whatever point he's at in the movies.
I believe it's in "Shell-Shocked" that there's a joke about Snotlout suggesting they all leave the Edge and run, leaving it for the Hunters. Okay, yes, I chuckled too because it is funny to have a character be so openly fearful. Yet, this doesn't make sense for him at this point. We're on the season 4 finale of a show that happened 2 seasons after the first series. Snotlout should know by now that leaving the same Hunters who had been willing to kill them and a ship of innocent people with a disease can't be left to their own devices. Why wouldn't he want to stay and fight? Even if it's dangerous, of course the villains are going to keep coming for them. Hiccup rightfully points out that they'll just go on to Berk, but why did he have to say this? Snotlout should have known, but the joke was made without considering how much he'd grown and his own bravery and intelligence.
There seems to be a thing about Snotlout being cowardly, but I really don't think he is. In "Gold Rush," there's a wordless joke where he's just screaming his lungs out after getting captured. Not saying he hasn't shrieked when plummeting to what could be death and that's totally fine, but here? Eh, I don't think so. I feel like there would be enough bad blood between him and the Hunters by now so that he wouldn't want to give them the satisfaction of knowing how scared he is. It's also horribly futile. He's gone to save Fishlegs, the twins, and Astrid before. He knows the Hunters won't release them and nothing is even happening besides his cage being moved. I'm probably overthinking these moments, but they annoy me since they paint Snotlout as pathetic when we then see him enter a 21 vs 2 fight in "Something Rotten on Berserker Island" fearlessly. Is he a scaredy cat or not? I just want some consistency, then I'd accept whatever fit with the character I'd been shown.
Dagur's saved from this since all his development is in the show. He's not held back by the movies. So, when there's a joke at his expense, it doesn't contradict anything. I'll try to make the examples as similar as possible for comparability. Dagur's got a joke involving saying the wrong thing and it was in "Mi Amore Wing." He's proposing to have Hiccup be his best man. Yes, this is clearly a unique way to ask someone, but it's also not contradicting anything about Dagur. He's got 0 skills with picking up on social cues and responding to things the way other Vikings generally would. It's also very possible that he's never seen anyone be asked to become a best man before, so he's doing what he thinks is a good way to show he's sincere and would really be happy. I don't leave the scene thinking, "Now, why would he say that, though?" Because he's Dagur. That's enough of a reason.
Dagur's got a scared joke too in "Enemy of My Enemy." When he was on Toothless's saddle, he was terrified and the scream made it pretty clear. This made sense because there was something happening at that moment. It wasn't Dagur letting his enemies see his weakness. It was him being on a dragon for the first time, going very quickly, and not knowing what he was doing. He's even thrown off the saddle as soon as Toothless lands in another moment I thought was funny. It doesn't make him look bad, but we can still laugh at his incompetency in this area.
Both of these characters have several physical gags too where one of them gets hurt and I will admit that those always get me to laugh. It's just times like those I've mentioned for Snotty that disappoint me. I really like him too. I think if he were allowed to be a more respectable character, it would be great. Dagur proves the writers know how to do that. We can laugh at him without him doing anything that opposes what they've set up. On the other side of this, Snotlout will act one way, then contradict the very personality we just saw him develop. I can't think of a single time when I couldn't explain one of Dagur's actions through use of his personality. I think that's how it should be. If it's in-character, then it makes sense. If not, then maybe the scene should be worked on a bit longer for this to be fixed.

sway (you’re swimming in my veins)
or: hasan is too big of an idiot to say he likes you, so he gets into fights to get your attention
or: you'll have to pry drunk, frat hasan from my cold dead hands
tw/creepy men, toxic masculinity, drunk people, alcohol, cursing, excessive use of “princess” as a pet name
the music is so fucking loud, you can't hear yourself think. Your hands are wrapped around a red solo cup of water, mostly to try to fit in it, to not draw attention to yourself- your eyes scan the crowd as you nod to the music, even though you don't know what this music is at all-
"You're staring." Your friend comes over, elbows you in your side, a smirk is covered up by the rim of the solo cup.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." You lie,
"Frat guys are gross and I simply like to stare at them like they're creatures at a zoo. Some sort of odd creature to point at in awe."
"Right," Sam, your best friend snorts at your elbow, "And this has nothing to do with that hasan guy, right?"
"hasan," you snort, eyes everywhere but at Sam, “i didn’t even remember that’s his name-“
Sam rolls her eyes, "You need to leave him alone. He's bad news. And no-not in the 'i can fix him' sort of way-in-the-this guy needs to be looked at professionally sort of way."
Your voice drops, "What happened?" You ask, like it's a conspiracy theory. And it almost is, in the way you've heard whispers of him, of the bad things he's done, friends grabbing each other's elbows and pulling each other in close, cupped hands to the others ears when he walks in-but no ones ever elaborated beyond a warning to keep away.
Sam sighs, a deep breath, like it's the weight of the world on her shoulders, even though she's just telling someone else's tragic backstory.
"He's-" another sigh, "Just a dick, okay? He talks with his hands, not his mouth. He's always trying to get into a fight. Just-watch him, alright?"
Your head whips around to the guy pushed in the corner, throwing ping pong balls into red solo cups, stopping long enough to yell and throw his fists over his head.
"We're looking at the same guy, right?" You push.
This guy has a mop of unruly curly hair on top of his head, how he stops every once in a while to nervously mess with it, a too big black hoodie on, these dark bags under his eyes-you wouldn't talk to him for the fun of it, but he definitely doesn't look like he'd cause any real harm.
"Just because someone looks harmless, doesn't mean they are. Remember that. I'll be right back, I gotta tell James we'll be ready to go soon."
and she squeezes your shoulder and is off to find her boyfriend. You roll your eyes, the two of them are practically connected at the hip, and it makes you even more self aware of how alone you are.
"Y'know, you look like a creep in the corner?" A voice enters next to you, making you jump. You've never seen this guy before, short, blonde hair a mop on top of his head. "Did I scare you? I'm scott” when he smiles it reveals a partially toothless smile.
you can feel your heartbeat in your ears. a hard thump in your ears. something is wrong, you can tell.
"N-No, I wasn't scared." You try and play it off with a smile, "My friend Sam is around. I should go look for her. Drunk people, yknow-" you laugh, turning to leave, when he reaches out, his hand grips your wrist, hard.
"Stay."
in the corner, hasan is half listening to his two fraternity brothers attempt to talk politics ("Bruh. if you actually think Trump is bad-“) begging his eyes not to glaze over, just nodding his head, when his eyes meet yours.
Originally, he's caught in almost a dead space stare, just somewhere to rest his tired eyes (he'll insist later that it was just that, nothing more. nothing less.) but when he sees you try and move your arm away from this guy and him advancing on you more, well-
"Hey-" He's by your side before he can even stop himself and his Ma's voice is in his head immediately: why are you putting yourself somewhere you don't belong? but he shakes his head, pushing the thought down deep, "What's the problem over here?"
and he stands up straight, arms crossed over his chest, eyes narrowed, trying to look intimidating because he always insist he isn't scary at all, even if his bruised knuckles say otherwise-
And you look, well-relieved and he hates how visibility less stressed you look now that he's here, like he's some sort of hero or as if he did anything big-
"No problem." The guy speaks right away, a slight slur on his lips that makes hasan roll his eyes.
"I think you should leave, Scott. I think they're uncomfortable." hasan keeps his voice low, you have to strain to hear it over the music.
"I think they're big enough to talk for themselves, yeah?" Scott smiles and it makes your skin crawl, an involuntary shiver coming out as you shrug his hand off your shoulder again.
"Get your hands off of them," hasan is taking a step towards Scott, "I'm not telling you again to leave them alone."
"hasan-"You try, not even knowing this guy, trying to talk him off the ledge, wondering if you're about to see what his reputation is here for.
"Yeah, hasan," Scott smirks, his voice high pitched, obviously making fun of you, "Listen to the little-"
Later, you'll insist you didn't see who threw the first punch, even if you definitely saw hasan’s knuckles collide with Scott's jaw first.
A small crowd forms around the two, and in Scott's defense, he gets a few good punches to hasan’s left eye before he's yanked away by a friend.
Sam finds you, tries to get you to leave, especially after this run in with Scott still has you on edge, but you insist you need to talk to him after his little stunt.
So naturally, that's how you find yourself holding his hand, dragging him upstairs to the bathroom, ripping off the out of order sign on the bathroom and shutting the door behind you. You set the toilet seat down and nudge him to sit down and he does, with a groan as goi go through cabinets.
"I didn't even get a thank you." He mumbles.
"Are-" your head pops out from behind a cabinet, where you're digging to find some kind of disinfectant, your narrowed at him, "are you pouting right now?"
He shrugs, staring straight ahead.
"I'm so sorry, but i can't take you serious with that bag of peas on your face." You manage to finally say, barely getting it out without laughing at him as he sets it on the counter.
"Here," You roll your eyes as you finally squat in front of him (even if he towers over you) "So you don't get an infection at the very least. Jesus, that's a nasty cut."
Your hand touches the edge of it and he winces,
"You sure you know what you're doing, princess?"
You look up long enough to glare at him, pouring some alcohol into the lid, decide his comment doesn't deserve an answer.
Instead, you do what you usually do when you're uncomfortable, and make jokes: "charming. haven’t been called princess in years-“ Sure, you've never talked to him but this feels like something someone would usually add onto the nasty impressions they do off him.
he pulls away as you put your hand to his face, his eyes narrowed, eyebrows one, "thanks, i like to think it’s original-“
You stare at him hard because he has to be joking.
“sure,” you level, knowing he won’t remember this in the morning, “i’m lying.”
He nods, satisfied with himself until he sees you unwrapping various supplies, spreading them out in front of you.
"You sure you know what you're doin', princess?”
your hand is against his face as your try to bite your tongue from pointing out the pet name , instead giving him a hard look as you bring the alcohol soaked pad to his eye.
"Fuck!" He finally yells, his hand flies to yours, rests on top of your hand, "Warn someone next time, why don't ya?"
"Can't handle a little alcohol?" you tease with a smirk, bringing gauze up to his eye to blot at it.
"You're a mess."
"You should see the other guy." He mumbles flatly with a groan, "So-that thank you? i'll take it now."
you finally look up and meet his eyes and he's smirking at you.
"Let me get this straight." You grab the peas and hold them, "you just got into a huge fight-in the middle of a party your frat is hosting and you want me to say thank you?"
"I was defending your honor, princess." He insists, that stupid smirk doesn't leave his face.
"I don't need anyone to defend me, certainly not you." You pick the peas up and put them back on his face, maybe with a little more pressure than necessary you hold them there for a second, "I'm leaving, so i won't be here to patch you up. Don't do anything stupid."
and you turn to leave before you do something stupid, like thank him for helping you, or worse-sees the pink splashed across your face.
three weeks pass before you see him again, and honestly-between midterms, your job and everything else in your life, you almost forget about his existance.
That is, as usual, until your eyes wander over to his again.
He sees you staring, and before your head can whip away from his, he gives you a smirk, a wink, throws back what's left in his cup and makes his way to you.
"Funny seeing you here, princess'" He smirks, leans down to talking your ear.
You roll your eyes, "Your frat is with mine. don't act like i'm here for any other reason."
you don't tell him how happy you are to have someone to talk to, always feel out of place at these parties, and he's like a forgotten puppy in a room at a party and you're happy to see him.
"Nah, not for another fifteen minutes or so” He smirks into his beer bottle, almost empty.
"Sorry."
you can tell by his smirk he isn't sorry at all.
and you aren't either, but you have a role to play up, so you groan.
"I gotta check on Sam, make sure she's still alive." you sigh, standing up, wiping imaginary dust off your pants.
"Awe, come on, princess. just five more minutes."
"Goodnight, hasan." you roll your eyes again, walking away.
so naturally, his first thought when Adam, who's equally as drunk as him, gives him a shove, is well, at least he'll see you again, as his hand collided with Adams jaw.
"we've gotta stop meeting like this." he smirks as he holds up the bag of peas to his nose, the fight now over and he sits on the hard title of the bathroom, his knees to his chest. you only knew about the fight because when people were tending to him after he asked for you specifically, by name.
"Is that the same fuckin' bag from three weeks ago?" you ask instead, "Jesus fuck, do y'all ever grocery shop?"
But, against your better judgment, your opening and closing cabinets for cleaner.
"They're frozen, it's fine." he insists as you kneel on the floor next to him and eh closes his eyes immediately when you sit next to him. "You smell nice." he adds.
"Fuck off, hasan." You groan, but you're grateful his eyes are shut so he doesn't see you blushing.
"i'm only speakin' the truth, princess' he smiles, his eyes shut, and he's feeling too confident-until there's more alcohol on his nose and he's groaning-
by first instinct-purely, first instinct, you insist-your hand reaches out and you wrap your hand around his. "You're fine. this should probably warrant a visit to the hospital." you sigh, his hand "You're fine. this should probably warrant a visit to the hospital." you sigh, his hand stays around yours.
"I'm fine." he sighs, opens one eye, still has his teeth barred from the alcohol. "Just stings a lil is all. Listen, lemme get you a drink.
“Just one."
"if i say no am i going to meet you in the bathroom again to patch you up?" you sigh.
"Probably." he smirks, shrugging. at least he's honest.
"One drink, that's it. And no more fights." he laughs, doesn't say anything at first as he stands, offers his hand and helps you up.
"Deal. c'mon, i know just the place." and you let him wrap his hands around yours, fingers interlocked as he leads the way.

Season 5 really killed my love for love square, especially with the way the choose Adrien, a kid with massive trauma and depression, as a therapist for his girlfriend. The whole "I want to be everything Marinette want" is bad for Adrien even more so because he doesn't get the same effort from Marinette.
The whole Adrienette is one sided and it remind me of a girl in one yt clip where she basically said she want a man who do everything she want while the man should already be grateful to be chosen as her boyfriend, which means she will do the bare minimum if nothing at all in that relationship.
Marinette isn't that kind of girl but the way the story goes it sure seems like that because Adrien doesn't allowed to bother her, he just continue to serve whatever she needs without her needing to do the same.
People saying that they'll break up and I agree, but also it will take a whole lot of character development for Adrien, something that the writers seems to hate it seems. Even if they argue or have a break up, I doubt it will be last for an episode before Adrien goes back to Marinette and say sorry. That's how Ladynoir conflict solved Kuro Neko after all, with Cat Noir be a bigger person while Ladybug do nothing at all.
Girl power is supposed to be a slogan to empower girls and Marinette supposed to be a role model for the young audience but at this point I don't even want my nieces and nephew to watch this show if what they teach them is that boy should do whatever the girls said and never bother with their girls with their feelings because man should "suck it up" while the girls can do whatever without minding about their man need.
I would actually be surprised if they broke up. Not because it's unearned, they arguably should breakup or at least get some sort of therapy, I just don't think that the writers have the guts to do that.
As you said, a breakup would only work if it led into character growth and they're allergic to doing that in this show in part because of the mandate that every episode must stand alone. That's a fine rule in a monster of the week show where all the drama is sitcom stuff that can be easily solved in 20 minutes, but a terrible rule in a show that's diving into the levels of complexity that Miraculous is trying to pull off. The show's current format is the worst of both worlds: complex plots that lack the complexity to really work and monster-of-the-week battles that feel rushed because they're being squeezed down to make room for the more complex stuff.
Prior to season four, my opinion of Miraculous was that it was a decent show for its indented audience, but there were a few plot points that required serious discussion to explain why they were wrong (for example: the "don't confront liars unless you're doing it for ideologically pure reasons" lesson from Lila's intro). As the show currently stands? I would not willingly introduce it to a young kid for a myriad of reasons. One of those reasons is the fact that the relationship drama we're currently dealing with is suited to a show for teenagers while still having the writing of a show for young children, leading the drama to feel weird and toothless. Yet another worst of both worlds.
All of this is quite sad because Miraculous has such a fantastic setup for being a cute, fun, healthy romance for all ages! It's why I started watching it and the choices made by the people running the show are truly baffling.
They picked a setup that allowed for all of the tension of a love triangle with none of the awkward fallout and then.... decided to introduce two love triangles.
They went with a duo setup to allow the male romantic lead to be mostly comic relief without feeling superfluous and then.... decided to introduce a larger team without establishing anything to make him feel like more than the comic relief.
They picked a setup that allowed for balanced support needs and then.... never let Adrien get any support.
That last one is the thing that really upsets me. When it comes to magical girl shows and their male-focused equivalents, it's somewhat standard for the main character (or main characters) to get all the struggles while the love interest (or love interests) are just there to give comfort and support, leading the love interest to have minimal character development. (Ex: Sailor Moon, Winx club, almost every shonen show ever made, the list goes on)
This isn't necessarily a flaw. You don't want to bloat a story with pointless side conflicts and you can still write a good romance under these conditions. After all, in real life, it's perfectly normal for relationships to go through phases where one person needs more support than the other. As long as it's implied that the love interest has more going on than just being a love interest, you're okay. Not amazing, but okay.
To put it in more concrete terms, if the Prince Dreamy Eyes is ruling the kingdom with his best friends at his side while Princess Sparkle Tutu is stopping the monsters, but the show mostly focuses on the prince supporting the princess and the princess fighting to save the day, that works. The prince is clearly not just arm candy. And maybe the viewers would really like a few one-off episodes about what Dream Eyes does while the Sparkle Tutu isn't around, but this IS a magical girl show so it makes sense that all the "filler" episodes go to the Sparkle Knights and not the Prince and the Dream Team.
This excuse obviously doesn't work for Miraculous because it didn't relegate Adrien to background love interest status. He is a key part of the team, but that's still something you can work around. In team-based shows with a large cast, it's not uncommon for some of the team to just kinda be there to round out the team while one or two main leads get the character growth and personal struggles. This isn't even a flaw as it's arguably better to have more focused drama. If everyone had a sob story, then no one does.
But that excuse doesn't work for Miraculous either because the show is driven by a conflict that's centered around Adrien. A beautifully simple yet powerful conflict that was perfectly tailored for making the relationship between the leads feel balanced.
On the hero side, Ladybug needs all the love and support because everything is riding on her. On the civilian side, Adrien needs all the love and support because he's a sheltered kid whose father is the villain. That allows for a setup where it doesn't feel like either character is nothing more than the love interest. You can make them both complex and flip around the support/supporter roles based on what part of the conflict the story is dealing with in a given moment. It will forever be a tragedy that such a wonderful premise was pulled off this terribly, which is why I say that I'm still a fanon shipper even though canon is dead to me. I love writing and reading takes on this premise that do it right. It's why I got into the fandom in the first place! I'm not really drama to cute romance. I'm drawn to interesting story ideas that feature romance, which is what Miraculous should have been.

You stood in the girls locker room, just seconds after your class ended. Changing your clothes makes you feel like you almost did something other than play on your white Nintendo DS all period under the poorly cleaned bleachers.
Your Nintendo was barely white from how dirty it is, putting off washing it every night because there was always something else more important to do. After you changed your clothes back to an oversized t-shirt and some jeans, you left the room, trying to avoid the almost poisonous smell of perfume.
It was the last period of the day. Finally, you would be able to go home and clean your Nintendo. Well, after you did your homework...and your laundry. Don't forget your chores either. Anyway, you pulled out your pen and tried to save your game before the bell rang so you could swiftly exit. But it's you.
Why wouldn't something go wrong in the middle of such a small action?
A tall figure bumped into you, pushing you into the padded wall behind you. You closed your eyes in anticipation of hearing erupting laughter, instead hearing shoes squeaking against the gym floor and a whistle blowing. You opened your eyes, seeing a tall blonde boy in front of you. His brown eyes seemed to be filled with concern.
Not for you, of course. He bent over, picking up your Nintendo DS along with it's stylus. When he bent over, you noticed his blonde hair was pulled back into a tiny ponytail. Cute, you thought, almost forgetting how angry you were. "Good news and bad news?" He whispered lowly, his face pink with embarrassment. "You and your stylus are okay. But I may or may not have cracked your screen."
Instead of looking at your cracked device first, you looked at the tall boy in disbelief. He was wearing a nervous toothless smile, his eyes in a squint. "I'm so sorry, I should've been more careful." You noticed how the boy avoided eye contact, finally showing his teeth with a nervous chuckle. Wow. His voice was deep for his age.
You couldn't feel nowhere near as mad now, half because of how tired you were, and the other half because of how cute the boy was. Finally you looked at your Nintendo, the screen cracked and glitching.
As much as you wanted to beat up the taller boy, you've learned to choose your battles carefully. This fight you would definitely lose. "It's fine. It was obviously an accident. You owe me a DS, though." The tall blonde nodded, sighing in relief. "I thought you were gonna swing on me. Ni-ki is my name, by the way." "Oh trust me! I thought about it. Y/N." You both giggled off the earlier incident.
Annoyingly, the bell rang. You turned around to pick up your bag and leave, only to feel your wrist being pulled back. "Wait!" He shouted, you hearing his voice crack. You turned around, looking up at the blonde. "Maybe you could stay until practice is over. That way I won't forget to get your DS."
Checking your watch, you realized maybe it wouldn't hurt. Or maybe maybe you secretly wanted to watch Ni-ki play basketball. Either way, you agreed and claimed your seat on the floor behind the hoop. Mourning your broken DS, you pulled out your notebook to study for your upcoming math exam.
Honestly, it was the reason you were stressed and tired right now. A lot of stress had been placed on you to pass, being someone who usually never fails. Not wanting to remember your expectations, you closed your math book. You heard a whistle blow, noticing a ball bouncing near you, pushing it back onto the court. You turned over with your notebook in hand, sliding it back into your bag.
Looking up, you noticed Ni-ki's face was beet red with anger. You quickly removed your earbuds from your ears, hearing a shouting match between Ni-ki and a shorter boy. "See Jake, this is why you should stick to violin! Because that's obviously the only thing you'll ever be good at. At least Nicholas can do a layup."
The shorter brunette's face changed from an offended one to a sad expression. "Low blow, dude." A slightly taller silver haired boy mumbled, the coach angrily stomping up to Ni-ki. "Nishimura Riki. Take a walk." Ni-ki furrowed his eyebrows. "Don't call me that name. It's Ni-ki and Ni-ki only." His statement
"Take. A. Walk. Before I bench you the rest of the season." Ni-ki let out a loud yell, everyone in the gym going quiet. "Bench me! Bench me then, but you know we'll lose every single game if I'm not on that court." You stood up, putting your things into your bag. Quickly, you scurried towards Ni-ki on the court.
"Ni-ki, uh are you okay?" You quietly whispered so that only he could hear. "Am I OKAY? Do I look okay right now?" He shouted in response, swinging his arm back and pushing you onto the gym floor. All you remembered was your vision slowly closing in and panicked shouts of people around you.
---------------------------
Ni-ki stared at your body on the floor of the gym. "Sh!t. Y/n? Are you okay?" Ni-ki kneeled to your side, Jake snickering. "I don't know, Ni-ki. Does she look okay right now?" The coach gave Jake an annoyed look, making him apologize. "She's not responding! Coach, can you call an ambulance?" The coach rushed to his phone, the rest of the team just staring at your body. "Nicho. Don't just sit there and look stupid! Grab me some water and a towel."
Nicholas complied, rolling his eyes. "What happened to please and thank you." Nicholas shouted from the locker room door, making Ni-ki grunt and focus back on you. He was 95% positive he just murdered you with his elbow. "No, you're alive. People don't die that easily, right? Yeah, right! You're just knocked out."
Nicholas returned, a rolled up towel in one hand and some water in the other. Ni-ki lifted your head, placing the towel under your head. He softly kissed your forehead, sighing and holding your hand. "I'm super sorry Y/N. First I break your game console and then I knock you out. I hope you don't hate me when you wake up." Ni-ki stepped away, rushing into the locker room to collect his things and throw on a hoodie and some shorts.
The ambulance rushed into the gym, pulling out a stretcher to put you on. Ni-ki put on your bag, embracing how it smelled like your perfume. As they carried you out, Ni-ki followed the paramedics. "Is she gonna be okay?" Ni-ki questioned, watching as they lifted you into the back of the ambulance. He took a quick deep breath, annoyed by the fact he was being ignored.
"I need to make sure she's gonna be alright." A female paramedic turned around, a soft smile on her face. "I get you're worried. You need to calm down, though. Your friend will be alright." "Yeah. I need to come with her." The paramedic looked around. "Do your parents-" "They wouldn't care. Please. I-I'm worried for my girlfriend." Ni-ki's cheeks were flushed red.
Why did he say girlfriend? You're not his girlfriend. Well, for however long until you get discharged from this hospital you are now. "Ah. Makes sense. You can come, just promise that you'll let your parents know." Ni-ki nodded faster than he ever had before, gently climbing into the ambulance next to you.
---------------------------
Your eyes slowly opened, hearing the beeping of a heart rate monitor. The florescent lights above you almost convinced you to shut them back, but you didn't. Only for one reason. You noticed Ni-ki dozing off on the backless bench to your left. "Ni..ki? Ni-ki!" You weakly called his name, his head immediately perking up.
"You're awake!" Ni-ki rushed to your side, panting happily. He rushed to grab the remote, pressing the call for help button and speaking in. "She-she's awake." He dropped the remote, squeezing you tightly. "I can't believe it!" The nurse walked in, checking your vitals with a teasing smile directed at Ni-ki. "Baby, you've been unconscious for...almost a month now."
You squinted your eyes in confusion. Baby? A month? Wait- Baby? "A whole month, wow." You slowly spoke, deciding you'd address it later in private. "And your handsome little boyfriend was here every single day to check on you." Ni-ki turned his head away from you, not wanting you to see his red face. You smiled, grabbing and squeezing Ni-ki's hand. "Every day?"
Ni-ki chuckled, squeezing your hand even tighter. "Something like that. Hey, I got you something." He pulled out a rectangular box, you gasping as he slowly lowered it into your hands. "This wouldn't happen to be a Nintendo DS would it?" You tilted your head to the side, Ni-ki smiling wide with his teeth. "Maybe." You squinted your eyes once again. "Hey, you got your braces off!"
Ni-ki quickly tried to change the subject, pushing the box towards you again. "This isn't about me right now. It's about you." You opened the box, coming face to face with a pristine white Nintendo DS with a nice stylus. You also noticed he had added a game in there, Pokémon Black and White.
You closed the box back and placed it next to some flowers he had brought you a while back, leaning in to hug Ni-ki. The nurse left the room to grab you some water, Ni-ki pulling away from you. "Sorry about the whole...dating thing. I panicked a while back and said we we're dating." You scooted to the right, tapping the bed and inviting Ni-ki to sit to your left.
"I didn't mind." Ni-ki sat down, looking out the window for a minute of awkward silence. "So, you didn't mind like you're not mad at me? Or you didn't mind like you don't mind us dating." Ni-ki was nervously pulling on his hoodie strings, making you giggle. "Well, I'm not opposed to us dating sometime in the future."
Ni-ki accepted that as an answer, you picking up your renewed DS and putting in the game card. The nurse returned with your water, you and Ni-ki sitting next to each other for the rest of the night and playing games together until you dozed off in each others arms.

I'm gonna say it:
Kipperlily was right about how Riz's dad getting caught up in the KVX conspiracy is an unfair advantage.
Like if it was a regular school and he got some leeway with exams that would be fucked up, but at an adventuring school performance should not be evaluated on how many world savingquests you're related too
Like it was a dick move to be sure and certainly insensitive, but this is why I wish theu had engaged with Porter's "the school sucks" Line instead of Adaine (not a student he has any reason to know) asking him if he knows her name???? Also he clearly is a good Barbarian teacher.
Whatever I get why it's unrealistic to expect that cause this is fantasy high the enemies always have to be wet paper bags because high level 5e is about as toothless a ttrpg as you can find. I just wanted a crumb of engagement.
It feels very marvel superhero Killing "Universal Healthcare Equal Rights man" because he used a gun one time.
:3c
To answer this ask I am going to have to bring out my permit.
Tumblr media
So. The Riz Dead Dad Gate. As always with Kipperlilly, she is both profoundly right and profoundly wrong.
Because on a meta-level, the one that she can't fully grasp... she is right. Riz's dad dying provided him with a plot hook into KVX. It's yet another designation that he is a Main Character, and she is Not.
On an emotional level - of course she's wrong! It's a deeply cruel thing of her to think. Of course, it is also something she said in the privacy of her counseling session, and therefore ought to be treated as such.
I also wish we had more engagement in the 'this school sucks' thing. Because as much as it is unfair to people who aren't designated as The Main Character... it's also unfair to TBK! It's unfair all around! This school system is inherently messed up baby!!

Based on an idea I thought of, I just had to get something down since I have to wait a bit. Sorry the banner is bad, I wasn't sure how to make it for this AU? This is mostly just me throwing out ideas so I have some down.
Yandere! Night Fury Hybrid! Hiccup Haddock Concept/Thoughts
(HTTYD Hybrid AU)
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Animalistic yandere, Possessive behavior, Human/Hybrid, Manipulation, Biting, Dubious cuddling, Forced relationship implied, Mentions of mates, Guilt tripping, Violence, Mentioned murder, Kidnapping.
Tumblr media
I feel at first we should be discussing how he'd look and act.
In terms of how he'd look it can very depending on your preference.
Personally I'd imagine he'd have the "ear horns" like Night Furies.
Then he'd have the wings, claws, and tail.
Maybe he even has the sharp teeth, retractable or not.
He could also have the eyes of a Night Fury, making him look relatively cat-like.
Probably also sleeps upside down.
Maybe you can place some black scales around his body but he still has human skin in some places?
That's a very general idea on what Hiccup could look like as a Night Fury hybrid.
In terms of behavior I'd imagine he'd act similarly to a Night Fury (shocker, I know).
He's stealthy, fast, and can use plasma bolts.
He probably purrs and growls when content.
Something I'm debating on is how he'd communicate with you.
There's three routes you could take with it.
The first one is he doesn't know any human language and communicates through actions or growls.
The second one is he knows limited language to communicate.
For the second one it could start with no language learned and you teach him it, or he knew it by observation of other humans.
The third is he knows fluent language, maybe not yours or maybe it is, but he can talk.
Don't get me wrong, regardless on how he communicates, he's still just as intelligent as your usual human.
Another thing that's dubious about the AU is if there is actual regular dragons.
There could be three separate factions (Humans, Hybrids, Dragons).
Naturally hybrids would be more attuned to dragons due to similarities.
It's that or there's only two factions (Humans and Hybrids), which have been at war for decades.
This is still a very new AU so "AU canon" is still unclear.
Honestly, the most exciting part of this is Night Furies in canon mate for life.
The same most likely goes for hybrids.
So I imagine once Hiccup is attached he plans to never leave you.
Plus, hybrids are most likely possessive similar to dragons.
Now, I feel you could meet Hiccup in many ways.
My favorite though? Maybe you even mirror how he meets Toothless in canon.
Maybe when you two are young (Hiccup's age in HTTYD 1), you help him with an injury.
Then you two slowly bond until you're both in your 20's.
Ever since you saved him he has been a companion by your side.
I imagine you could fly with hybrids but due to their humanoid form, they'd just carry you-
So instead of Hiccup finding a Light Fury hybrid to have a relationship with, he chooses you.
Hybrids would be compatible with humans most likely.
The first hybrid's origins are unknown, but it is implied they take human partners at times.
I can imagine when you're both 21 you try to find him a compatible mate or encourage it.
Meanwhile he doesn't want anyone but you.
Even since you were young, the hybrid knew you were the one for him.
He has never parted from you and your own father wonders what his intentions are.
I imagine when you were young it took awhile to warm up to each other, just like in HTTYD 1.
Hiccup starts off wary of you, wondering if you're safe to trust.
Then by the end of it he vows to protect and cherish you.
You'd both be teens then but your relationship between each other would start off as just companions.
However, this would be the first little seeds of his crush.
It's when you start getting older, reaching 18 and your 20's that he starts inching closer.
He often purrs around you and tries his best to understand your culture.
He craves your touch, often putting your hand on his cheek for comfort.
When you're both adults he probably starts showing behavior akin to wanting a mate.
He may try ro manipulate you into it, claiming you're the closest one to him.
He tries to make it sound like he'd be lonely forever if you don't accept his courting.
He claims he wants to hold you close and cuddle you for warmth since his kind hate the cold.
Yet you can tell by the way he wraps his tail around your waist that isn't quite it.
I imagine he'd bite you to mark you and often gets aggressive towards other humans and hybrids around you.
Hiccup may even share Toothless traits, like being the last Night Fury Hybrid in the world... right now.
Maybe you can help with that, hm? (If you're able)
In terms of if he'd murder, maybe.
He doesn't want to ruin your trust and any form of murder would be accidental.
Like if something blinded him with rage or he allowed his possessive behavior to take over.
Even then he personally may not feel bad for it, but acts remorseful to have your forgiveness.
Kidnapping? Again, a maybe.
For a Night Fury he's rather soft personality wise.
He'd be willing to live with you if you wished, then he could be more attuned to human culture.
Yet if someone tried to steal you from him then he's feel unsafe.
Feeling unsafe may lead to a stray plasma blast striking someone down or burning your home.
Which means he'll have to carry you to somewhere he can properly provide for you.
As a hybrid his diet is mostly fish or whatever Night Furies eat.
However, he could have human food too due to being partially human.
Hiccup would try to keep track of what humans need to provide for you.
When he wants affection he'll nuzzle into you, lay his larger body on top of you, and purr.
Like actual Night Furies, he acts like cats and bats.
Which means it's a bit strange to see him sleeping upside down at first.
Overall, Hiccup as a hybrid would retain his usual persona and a bit of Toothless.
He's a hunter... and your companion for life.
You may not like what he has in store for you, but he promises he does it out of love.

Updated Canon Star Wars Shows Ranking
The Bad Batch's third and final season begins tomorrow! What better time to take stock of how the series is currently stacking up against the nine other canon series' in the Star Wars sag.
(As always, please feel free to sound off in the replies or reblogs with how wrong I am. I love hearing your thoughts.)
10. Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett
Tumblr media
Oscillating between dull and distracted, the original iconic bucket headed bounty hunter’s show displays Star Wars at its most shallow and routine. Despite claiming to be a Godfather-esque crime saga, The Book of Boba Fett feels oddly toothless and impersonal. In the process, the series does the ultimate disservice of making its title character less interesting at its conclusion than its outset. A great leading duo in Temuera Morrison and Ming-na Wen can’t really save a series that rarely if ever rises above being passable.
9. Star Wars Resistance
Tumblr media
A fun, atypical series that aims for a younger audience with a lighter, more comedic tone. Some fans may not gel with its sometimes zany energy, but it boasts some impressively nuanced character arcs and standout aerial combat set pieces. It ends though on an awkward rushed note that may be as much a fault of the shambling structure of the sequel trilogy as the show itself.
8. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Tumblr media
Ewan McGregor’s big return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi somehow feels like less than the sum of its parts. McGregor is wonderful as the title character and there are some truly emotional moments to be found in watching this old Jedi Master find his purpose and make peace with the trauma that came with the end of the Clone Wars, but overall Kenobi rarely manages to hit the highs it should. Messy production design and some clunky mid-season narrative choices end up cutting the series down in moments when the drama should be at its highest. For a series that may have been the most demanded Star Wars project of the last decade, Obi-Wan Kenobi never manages to fully reach the hype of its fanbase or the potential of its character.
7. Star Wars The Mandalorian
Tumblr media
After an uneven but mostly promising first season, The Mandalorian has had trouble finding its footing. Despite being the flagship series for not only Star Wars live action television but also the Disney+ streaming platform, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s space western has seemed unsure of itself after two seasons that pushed back its main characters in favor of a parade of cameos and clunky franchise focused world building. Luckily, it still has an eye for spectacle and flash. The Mandalorian looks like a blockbuster action-adventure movie and even when the story fails to live up to its potential, you can still count on the series’ consistently strong directing talent to deliver on some fantastic moments of Star Wars spectacle and creatively designed characters and locales.
6. Star Wars Ahsoka
Tumblr media
One of the most ambitious and complicated offerings from Star Wars’ live action television offerings, Ahsoka is the culmination of not only fifteen years of storytelling but an important evolution of both its central character and her creator, Dave Filoni. Unfortunately, it does frequently buckle under the weight of its own mythology and continuity. Trying to create a coherent identity out of a show that functionally serves as a spin off to three separate series, two of which are animated, often proves difficult and clunky. There are, however, moments of wonder and grandeur when Ahsoka really does shine. Whether its in the phenomenal performance of Ray Stevenson as the series’ enigmatic villain, Baylan Skoll, or how enthusiastically Ahsoka embraces the franchise’s more fantastical and weird story elements, Dave Filoni demonstrates that he does still have a sense for how to tell worthy stories in this galaxy.
5. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
Tumblr media
Recently confirmed to be more than a one-time special set of animated short films, Tales of the Jedi now looks to be a regular animated anthology that fleshes out the unexplored angles of some of the most famous members of the Order. While the three installments focusing on Ahsoka offer little more than a reunion for fans of The Clone Wars, the miniature trilogy that Tales of the Jedi tells about the fall of Count Dooku to the Dark Side are masterfully written and directed editions to the animated Star Wars canon. Not only do they finally add emotional and philosophical clarity to one of the most famous villains from the Prequel Trilogy, but they provide a murky exploration into some of the Jedi Order’s failings and why exactly members of its ranks would be tempted to leave it behind.
4. Star Wars: The Bad Batch
Tumblr media
While it suffers from some of the same pacing issues that abound in almost all Star Wars television, The Bad Batch has evolved into a fun ensemble action series with some truly stellar character moments scattered throughout. In particular, this Clone Wars spinoff excels in diving into the uncertain fate of the Grand Army of the Republic. At its core is the question of what happens to a people bred for wartime when that wartime ends? The results are often tragic and occasionally disturbing, but almost always make for standout television. Throw in some gripping action set pieces and you have a more than worthy follow up to one of the most beloved pieces of Star Wars canon.
3. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Tumblr media
A very rough start and scattered snooze worthy story arcs aside, The Clone Wars is an ambitious as hell show that pretty much launched Star Wars as we currently know it. Its anthology style format allowed for its creators to tell a wide variety of stories that not only deepened a previously maligned era of the series but also played tribute to many of George Lucas’s creative influences. Great swing for the fences storytelling risks and gorgeous animation elevate this series into blockbuster level entertainment that balances incredible spectacle with powerful moments of character development and franchise redefining mythology.
2. Star Wars Rebels
Tumblr media
A wonderful achievement in character and inventive storytelling, Star Wars Rebels reaches heights that are among the best moments the franchise has ever produced. Through its endearing and refreshingly complex ensemble cast and a tight four-season arc, Rebels feels like a complete, unique package that isn’t afraid to take risks and knows when and how to challenge its audience. Even occasional filler episodes aren’t enough to detract from what is overall a charming, suspenseful, and ultimately moving series of family and the fight against tyranny.
1. Star Wars Andor
Tumblr media
Star Wars at its most human and political, Andor is thoughtful and meticulously crafted drama about the early days of a rebellion. Taking its title character from the ashes of Rogue One and spinning off into the story of a complicated man living in the shadow of fascism, Andor offers up intrigue, emotion, and a stirring critique of systems of oppression whether they be from the galaxy far, far away or own humble little world. Even outside of its heady political allegory, Andor is simply fantastically directed and acted television scattering a marathon of all-time-classic Star Wars moments throughout its first season. It’s that rare gem that only seems to come around only once or twice a decade: Star Wars that is not only great within the context of its universe but a truly essential work of pop cultural art.

Okokok I am here with a request:
Hear me out: Wolfwood x Reader where the reader and Wolfwood adopt a little one,,,
I swear to God, it'd be so soft and precious,,,
Thank you :D
ahhhh this is so cute. thank you!!
pairings; wolfwood x (GN)reader warnings; none notes; ive had an idea like this brewing in my brain for a awhile so i'm glad i had a reason to finally write it out! thank you!
Tumblr media
His eyes trail across the cobblestone floors, landing on a particular pair who seem to be having the time of their lives. A crooked smile rests across his lips as he watches you play with the little boy that has grown quite attached to you. The kid is hanging off your back as you run around in a circle. The kid is giggling like a maniac, and you’ve got your own smile on your face.
He was sure it would be a mistake bringing you to see his old orphanage. He regretted it the moment the offer left his mouth, and your eyes lit up. He wasn’t sure how’d you react to his old home, or if you’d get along with everyone. You’re his favorite person in the world, and he couldn’t imagine what would happen if this all went wrong. But it didn’t.
Apparently, you’re really good with kids.
Maybe this was a mistake, because Wolfwood can’t stop staring at you as you play around. He can’t stop thinking that this all feels a little too right. After years of hard work, was it finally time for him to settle down with you? He looks over at your cute smiling face, and his heart clenches in his chest. He wants that. He wants it so bad, he’d drop everything now and adopt that child on the spot.
He pushes himself off the wall he was leaning on, and makes his way over to you. As soon as you see him, your smile breaks out into a large grin. You wave at him as he nears you, the child still hanging onto your neck.
“You look like you’re having fun.” he chuckles, resting his hands in the pockets of his pants. You smile sheepishly and shrug your shoulders. “This kid’s got a whole lotta energy.” you respond, hiking the kid higher onto your back. The kid giggles and presses his head into the back of your shoulder. Wolfwood finds his heart beating a little faster at the scene.
“Oh yeah?” Wolfwood mumbles moving so he’s eye level with the kid. “And what are you playing?” he asks. The kid grins a toothless grin. “We’re playing cowboys. I’m an outlaw-” The kid explains shooting off a pretend gun. “And I’m a horse-” you add on, laughing. Wolfwood can’t hold back the chuckle that escapes his throat.
“Well you know, every outlaw needs a sheriff to chase him.” Wolfwood tells the kid, grinning. He steps back and makes a gun with his fingers. “Put ‘em up!” He says dramatically, pointing his finger gun at the kid. The kid squeals happily as you start running from Wolfwood.
The three of you play around for a little bit, with wolfwood pretending to chase the boy. You end up putting the kid down and stepping back for a second to catch your breath, watching as the two continue playing on their own. The boy seems to be having more fun now than ever, and Wolfwood can’t help but feel like this is right.
The kid shouts out a few “Bangs!” and Wolfwood pretends he’s hit, putting a hand over his heart and collapsing onto the ground. “You got me kid-” he gasps dramatically. “You’re too good of a shot-” The kid laughs and runs off to continue playing with a  few other kids that have joined in on the game.
Your head appears above Wolfwood, a hand held out offering to help him stand. He takes it and allows you to help pull him back onto his feet. When he’s up, he puts an arm around you and pulls you against his side as the two of you watch the kids play.
“They’re pretty cute, aren’t they?” you point out, resting your head on his shoulder. He smiles and nods. “Maybe we should take one home.” He finally says out loud. There’s a beat of silence before you turn to him with wide eyes. “Don’t joke-”
“I aint joking.” He cuts you off, a soft look upon his features. He reaches out to cup your cheek with his hand. “Seeing you running around with that kid- It had me thinking. Maybe it’s time?” he starts, staring into your eyes. “Maybe it’s time we settle down. For good. Just me, you…and the kid.” He smiles as he traces your cheek with his thumb.
You seem completely awestruck- but your shocked expression morphs into a smile and you nod. Tears  start to gather in your eyes as you lean forward and press your lips against his softly. “I would love that.” You whisper as you pull away.
He pulls you into a hug with a smile. He can't wait to start a family with you.

Simpler Times
“Orfuse!” His name, called as a greeting, is laced with just enough exasperation to alert the oracle of what he is about to hear next. “You forgot to lock the door again.”
“Hello to you too, grumpy-pants!” He chirps back, scribbling a note in his journal and listening for his moirail’s familiar, heavy footfall in the hall.
“What if someone wanted to kill you?”
“Well, I don’t think the door’s persuasive enough to help me there.”
“Orfuse.”
“I’m sorry!” he concedes. “I forgot.”
“How?”
The word comes out with such incredulity that it breaks in two, and Orfuse beams into his notebook. He can’t get enough of the adorable cracks that have begun to grace that ever-deepening voice, as embarrassing as his moirail seems to find them.
“Maybe my hands were full!”
“You’re a handful,” Harlan says fondly, finally coming to a halt in the living room’s entrance.
With a twinkling laugh, Orfuse lifts his head to greet him proper. At once, though, his mirth is stymied, replaced by a horrified gasp and his heart in his throat.
Harlan leans against the doorframe with his clothing wrinkled and his facepaint smudged to nothing, dried blood spattered across his skin. His lip is busted and his cheek is swollen, with a fresh bruise already blooming at his temple.
Orfuse nearly falls from his chair with how fast he leaps from it. “Harly!”
“I’m fine.”
“You’re hurt!” He counters, taking his moirail by the arms and dragging him to sit on the couch for a better look at the damage. His fists seem to have had the worst of it, with knuckles split to bleeding and bruises on his fingers. “What happened?”
“There was a fight,” Harlan answers simply, sitting still and allowing Orfuse’s worried hands to comb through his hair in search of hidden wounds.
“I can see that,” he says, and it is his turn to be incredulous. Though he can’t seem to find any evidence of injury, there is certainly blood, dried into his tresses in such a way that it crunches between the oracle’s fingers. “Is this yours?”
“No.”
He draws back, relieved.
“But this is,” Harlan adds, raising one sharp, shiny tooth into view. Orfuse gapes, eyes widening into saucers, and the purpleblood grins wide enough for him to see the gap where his canine should have been.
Orfuse tries in vain to lift his jaw off the floor.
“It’ll grow back,” the young subjug shrugs, still flashing him that dimpled, toothless smile. “Faster if you kiss it, maybe?”
“Harly!” He admonishes through a bout of suppressed giggles, shoving at his face with a hand. “What is wrong with you!?”
Harlan guffaws, reaching up to pull the oracle’s arm away. His grip is weaker than Orfuse is used to, and the awkward way he holds the bronzeblood’s wrist to lay a kiss upon his palm belies just how much pain he’s really in.
Pity swells in the oracle’s chest, and he takes one of Harlan’s hands in his to assess the damage once more. He’s not so naive as to be unaware what an injury of this nature means. He has a feeling he doesn’t want to see the other guy.
“I’ll get you some bandages,” he says softly, stifling the instinct to give his palm a squeeze.
“Thank you.”
It doesn’t take him long to return with the first aid supplies, but a few minutes alone is all it takes for whatever adrenaline carried Harlan here to finish filtering out. By the time Orfuse settles back in to begin cleaning the wounds, his moirail looks exhausted.
“Does anything else hurt?”
Harlan exhales through his nose. “Apart from everything? No. Not from the fight.”
Orfuse flashes him a sympathetic look, pausing his medical ministrations to put a comforting hand on his knee. “Achey?”
“Sharp. The growing kind.” He sighs wearily, his eyelids heavy. “I’d like to be done with it already. I don’t need to get any bigger.”
A silence lingers between them for a moment. Orfuse hopes it’s the welcome sort.
“I’m going to use the alcohol now, alright? It might sting a little.”
Harlan nods in acknowledgement, then looks away, likely hoping to hide whatever reaction he may have when the liquid meets his cuts.
“What was the fight about?”
“You.” His shoulders relax as Orfuse begins wrapping his knuckles, the worst of the process finished. “Krivek wanted to run his mouth again. He called you a leech. Said you made me weak.”
“Harly…” Orfuse frowns. “You can’t go picking fights every time someone says a bad word about me. I don’t want that.”
“You don’t understand the church, Orfuse. There’s no place for weakness in that world. I needed to prove him wrong, for both our sakes.”
“What did you even prove?”
“That you make me strong.”

Soooooo thinking about riders of berk and uh...... who's gonna tell Hiccup that Thor was in fact angry with toothless?
I mean i guess he felt bad after hitting hiccup in the head with lightning and chilled out but like ya know, he was peeved for a little bit there
Ok so i made this a jokey post originally but i actually want to add in the information
So the episode in question "When Lightning Strikes" the plot is that the gang makes large metal dragon perches, and shortly thereafter, Berk is hit by several lightning storms of noticeably increased intensity
Mildew tries to blame the dragons, but in the end they figure out that it was actually the metal that was causing the lightning storms, and while the vikings all think its just because Thor was angry at the metal, we know its because lightning is attracted to metal, which is what really caused the storms.......
Except
That's NOT TRUE
From the NOAA
Tumblr media
From TORRO in the UK
Tumblr media
Another
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And one more for good measure
Tumblr media
So as you can see, while metal is a good conductor of electricity, lightning is NOT attracted to metal.
Lightning is no more likely to hit metal than it is any other material.
Metal does not cause lightning storms, nor will it increase their intensity.
Lightning tends to seek the quickest path to take to the ground, otherwise it wouldn't be hitting trees very often, and every large city would either be unlivable due to the mass amounts of intense lightning storms that occurred, or they would have to construct buildings out of alternative materials.
So the lightning storms on Berk cannot be explained by the presence of the metal structures, it just doesn't work like that.
Now the most likely option is that is was all just a big coincidence, and they made these structures right ahead of a particularly unsettled bit of weather marked by more extreme lightning that they were used to.
Sometimes that just happens, weather is predictable, but never guaranteed.
Now my argument for it genuinely being Thor pissed off at Toothless for whatever reason, is, from my basic understanding of storms and how they form, they should have been experiencing less storms than they had in the past.

And to be very clear METEOROLOGY IS NOT MY MAJOR.
These are THEORIES based on the class i have been taking, i may not be 100% spot on, in fact i could be 100% wrong.
This is just what i feel it would be based on my understanding of weather. If someone has a degree in this kinda stuff, id love to hear what they think, but like, letting y'all know ahead of time, i am not an authority on this.

So in order for rain and storms to form they need something called condensation nuclei.
Condensation nuclei is what allows water vapor to take any kind of form. No condensation nuclei, no rain. This is the thought process through which could seeding takes place.
Put more stuff in the clouds for the drops to form on, and the rain will fall! There's really no evidence to support cloud seeding, but that's the idea of it nonetheless.
Now as to what condensation nuclei are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book is Meteorology Today by Ahrens and Henson
Condensation nuclei are extremely small particles that float around in the air and give water vapor molecules something to land and condense on.
Many things can be a condensation nuclei - fungi, salt, dust, volcanic ash, and sulfuric and nitric acids.
Now important to this, Smoke is a condensation nuclei.
Smoke, ash, both things that would be extremely common around dragons. And fire, smoke, ash, dust, all that kind of stuff, would be MOST HEAVILY in the atmosphere around Berk DURING the war with the dragons.
Houses constantly being burned down, smoke, dust, flying into the air, falling off anything going up into the sky, whether that's projectiles or the dragons themselves.
So overall Berk should have been experiencing more storms before they were at peace with the dragons, and once they were, there would be less stuff going into the air for the water to condense on.
I cannot say whether there would be a big, noticeable difference, but the difference would be there regardless.
So there being more intense storms after the dragons and vikings are chill with each other doesn't make a ton of sense, if anything, there should be less.
Also, condensation and in cloud precipitation is likely what causes lightning

So taking into consideration that lightning is NOT attracted to metals, and that since the peace with dragons, there should be less clouds and storms, there's no real definitive reason for those intense lightning strikes and ESPECIALLY no explanation for the lightning FOLLOWING Toothless like that.
youtube
There's no reason for it to do that!
There's another scene later that show even clearer, i can't find it right now, but it shows where toothless is low to the ground and the lightning is following him.
It WOULD NOT do that!
There is no reason for it to do that unless something was Making it do that!
So, following that logic, it HAD to be Thor (or other god).
Lightning does not behave in that fashion, it would not chase behind a low moving target like that.
There is no other explanation as to why the lightning was behaving like that outside acts of god.
Tragically, Mildew was Correct.
Thor was pissed.
Or maybe he was trying to be helpful!
The village was getting stirred up because of Mildew, maybe Thor knew this would help a lil bit, even though it was also very bad.
And hey, when they put that statue by Mildew's house, the lightning kept hitting him so ya know?
It might have been a misunderstanding!
Either way, not natural how that lightning was behaving, imo, had to be caused by one of the various Norse gods, thank you for you time.
