what is happening

i assume this is about the sudden p!atd blogging. i dont know how much u know and i dont wanna overexplain but basically.

p!atd is my favourite band that i hate and they started back in 2004 with brendon urie, ryan ross, jon walker (eventually) and spencer smith. and they wrote two beautiful albums but it was mostly ryan doing the writing cuz hes a genius Especially considering they went into production for this album barely out of high school. ANYWAYY ryan and jon left the band for 'creative differences' after touring on pretty odd but patd KEPT. GOING. which is whatever. except that as the years went on the bandmates dropped like flies until eventually it was just brendon urie touring on records he didnt even write. and then when he DID write songs they were pure, overproduced shit. and then he finally FINALLY 'broke up' the band (at this point consisting of him and only him) in january of 2023 and we all crossed our fingers and hoped we'd never have to worry about it ever again.

FLASH FORWARD NOT EVEN TWO YEARS LATER!! the 2025 lineup for when we were young fest, a music festival in vegas (that time i hit post limit was last weekend when mcr performed there) AND GUESS WHO WAS FUCKING HEADLINING. panic at the disco. or more accurately brendon at the urie. i HATE HIM. a year and 9 months and hes already crawling back for a nostalgia bait cash grab. because the worst part is apparently theyre performing a fever you cant sweat out, as in their first album, as in the album that ryan ross wrote, as in the album that ISNT BRENDONS and that brendon DIDNT WRITE and while we dont have any news on who p!atd will actually consist of, its soo unlikely that ryan will be involved. i think someone literally met him the other day and he didnt even know what wwwy was. so whatever. WHATEVER!

Chapter 1 - Gothic & Emotional

(AN: This series was originally a spoof of "my immortal," an infamous work of fanfiction. It has since grown into an original work as a satire of the themes present within "my immortal." fangs for the support!)

Another day. My blinds filter the light of the sun completely out, and the wallpaper is a dismal black. A vase of withered roses, having been hand-painted black, lies beside my antidepressants atop my nightstand. Another day rising out of my coffin, which in contrast to much of my room, is a vibrant shade of pink, equipped with speakers constantly playing through music. I turn to the totally retro lava lamp beside me, and with a flip of the switch, the room dimly illuminates.

It is mostly black. If it already wasn't obvious, I'm gothic and emotional, and my room is an extension of that - there are overhead, red lights which accentuate my gothic features, occasionally flickering to remind any guests of the labyrinthian darkness dwelling deep within my recesses. A few of my many, many friends have misinterpreted their meaning, often saying something along the lines of "red LED lights, huh?" It is frustrating to have your artistic vision be lost so consistently, and doubly frustrating when they're frequently right!

I'm realizing I should introduce myself - I'm Ra'zorblayde D, short for Darkroom, Veinspill. I am a total fucking hottie, and unlike many other goths, I don't shy away from non-black colors, with my signature corset being a comparatively bright shade of pink, and my skirt being an equally bright green. With pallid skin, pointed ears and fangs, I'm a vampire. I'm also a witch, with a retrofitted vibrator as a wand. I'm also a siren, but those days are largely behind me.

The fishnet shirt I wear was once an actual fishing net - amidst some rocks at sea, I once sang MCR to grizzled old sailors to lure them in, but they were posers and did not recognize any of my melodies. It was embarrassing! Almost as embarrassing as the harpoonist who attempted to spear me on the rocks, mid-chorus. Upon seeing a harpoon shooting towards me, I acted quickly, catching the spear between my middle fingers. I shrieked at them, telling them all to fuck off with the volume of a banshee, but they were unrelenting. In a last ditch effort, they threw a net at me. I will admit, they must've had some experience on the water, as when it made contact with me, I became fully, shibari-tied in the sailors' net. I had been tied like this before, of course, but never in this context! Upon the rocks, I felt the desolation of every plastic-ridden sea turtle, and I could practically feel myself choking on a straw. I brooded for a moment, sulking, brooding, eventually shedding inky tears as my more kraken-like ancestors had in an effort to deter them.

No matter my efforts, they steeled in their resolve, and had finally drawn the boat ashore. As the anchor made a thundering contact with the rocks below me, I grew hopeless. I had been the end of many people I'd come across in the sea - from grizzled sea captains persistently referring to me as a "white whale" (harsh, in retrospect), to lovers who had been separated by icebergs and small rafts, to dude-bro mermen who should have known better. I would have understood if, in this moment, I finally met my comeuppance for those encounters, and mulled over a few potential last words.

I soon realized I had been panicking, remembering the far scarier battles I'd overcome. Using my empathabilities, I channeled the destitution of the creatures who'd met their undoing through plastics, and as my inky tears collided with the net, I felt its fabric begin to contort and twist into... a sickass fishnet shirt! Now equipped with the stylish breathability of the net, I channeled my newfound energy into my middle fingers. With the harpoon, I wound my arms into a decisive throw. Yelling out "fangs for the memories, even if they weren't so great!" as I returned the harpoon, I heard it thunder through the air, crackling into, and eventually skewering the sailors. They toppled to the floor of their vessel, and frustratingly, were off-beat to my singing in doing so.

am decidedly not leaving bed today!! i feel like i've been run off my feet the last few weeks and i don't need to go anywhere or do anything today so i will not :) yesterday i hosted a fundraiser for the Cancer Council, an Australian org that does tonnes of things like fund research, offer support services to people with cancer, educate and train educators. Last year i hosted it with one of my colleagues but she did a lot of the heavy lifting. This year she's on maternity leave so i did it myself and it was v successful!! We raised over $500 :) So i am feeling v pleased and tired.

i have been thinking about my general state of being and that although i often feel like there is a LOT going on in my day to day i do think that so far this year i've been in a good place. last year was mostly about sitting in a ditch of despair sdfklkdl but the composition of my life this year has been such that i haven't been in that place. what a treat! also my house has not flooded 3 times in the last 6 months so that is certainly nice!

i've had a bit more regular contact with some of my close friends. every month i Zoom with Ellen, my friend from Norway. She's my OG online friend, we met in a Lost forum when i was like 14 LOL, we started doing regular Zooms during covid but have had a good run going lately. Although we did miss the last one because she's hecticly working on her thesis, but regardless it feels like we've been built such consistency and its so good to have that monthly check in. I've also started going out to dinner once a month with my IRL best friend, who i think i saw a grand total of 3 times in 2020-2022 lol, and THAT has been so nice. Human connection outside my household! Who would have thought!!

Also i have not been to so many live events within a 6 month period since like 2018?? All those postponed showed finally caught up with me lol. In Feb i saw Harry with my best friend and the Vamps on my own (i love a solo concert experience), in March I saw MCR with my best friend, in April I saw an Aussie comedy duo called Lano and Woodley with my family (they're like the root of mine and my brother's sense of humour) and in May i saw Kisschasy with an old highschool buddy that I still talk to a lot when i get my act together and reply to his whatsapp messages rip. So much to do!!!! I think of all the shows, my fav night this year was definitely with the Vamps, i just love them. They are so fun to share a room with, their show was so small and at a venue i love/feel comfortable at, and it was their 10 year greatest hits tour so they played all my old favs :') I love them. I do feel like i need a rest from 'events' for a bit now 😂 but it was so nice to have things on the horizon and to get dressed in clothes I haven't worn for 3 years and even to be overwhelmed by uncomfortably large events in the company of friends lol.

Oh I also finished preparing my garden! I haven't planted anything because timing-wise it just worked out that i didn't finish until a couple of weeks ago, and with winter around the corner i don't particular want to set up my garden right now. But it's all dug up and ready to go, so i've laid tarps over it and it will be ready when Spring comes :) I'll need to order some good soil and then pull out my seeds that I have from before we moved. I'm not sure they'll still be good? But we'll see what happens! I can just buy new ones if necessary. So i'm really excited that the second the season is right i can just GET GOING!! No more waiting around for the rain to stop so that i can pull out the forest of weeds, no more STUPID rose bush roots in the way, it will be go time babey.

I have been reading a lot this year, I don't think it is a coincidence that my mind has been more able to manage absorbing books now that i don't feel i am in a ditch of despair lol, my 2023 brain is like perhaps we CAN do more than passively absorb shows we've watched twenty times. i mean we are still doing that in spades for sure, but looking at words on a page for recreational purposes does not feel like too much work! our weekly afternoon tea's at work are currently book-focused too, each week someone picks a genre and we all talk about a book in that genre that we love. Me and one of my colleagues are compiling the list of books mentioned every week and sharing them on Teams as a record, its been soooo fun. The last 2 weeks were scifi and fantasy (aka what i care about) and I chose the long way to a small angry planet and The Princess Bride. Next week's topic of biography though so my run of luck has come to an end sjkdgjkdf but its been vvv fun to basically have a blook club every week! I'm hoping i get picked in the next couple of weeks so i can choose LGBT+ books a) bc it will be Pride month and b) bc i recently read that is how it always is and LOVED it so much and am v interested in what recs my colleagues will have in that genre, but there are a couple of other people that i reckon could choose that if they're picked first (which i am ay-okay with) so my backup genre is books that have adaptations (so i can talk about six of crows 😈)

Basically, I have this fan (crack) theory that, because the protagonist in n3 has to be male(for... Some reason? I know they'll have personality but that isn't an excuse to me) and because if you look at some screenshots they do have black hair mostly and one blue hair streak my crap theory for n3 is that James might be the protag which would be, so funny

But anyway, use this to dump some n3 predictions/theories? I'm curious. Serious out not

Tbh, I don't have any theories on N3 for now, but that might change once there's a new teaser. But for now, I mostly have the theory that Metta and/or Leah Micromon might come back in one way or another since the series is really consistent about bringing back older characters for closure from their previous games (especially hinting the Chaos MCR being relevant after "accidentally" reviving them post-Abyssals).

Though the idea of Nexolord/Metta being one of the main characters would be an interesting but hilarious reveal of "we're playing one of the og villains" among other possible plot twists. Even if he finally changes his forte hiding in the background to gain Omnicron's throne after way too long, it's also confirmed that N3 takes place another 1,000 years after Extinction, so it might go to show that he's just too angery and spiteful to die at this point (then giving the N1 fans the catharsis of beating him to ground for real this time).

we have matching bullets skips 🤝 ur absolutely right re: drowning lessons, the tempo/beats/vocals being at odds with each other is why it took me longer to get into bullets, and it’s mostly evident on drowning lessons! i like the lyrics and i usually just listen all the way through instead of skipping, but they’re distinct low points on an album that’s otherwise a banger for me

trying to think of my other mcr skips now. they’re a remarkably consistent band in that i do enjoy their entire discography even though it varies in theme/style/production from album to album. i think i don’t love you is a good rock song but it’s just not as powerful as the rest of the black parade - especially after those first five tracks. i would say the world is ugly/the light behind your eyes from conwep, but unfortunately i developed a deep and undying connection to them at age 14. u know how it is. what are ur conwep thoughts?

14. Favorite book you read this year? I'm SO glad someone asked me this one! Geoff Rickly's Someone Who Isn't Me was fantastic, and held the crown for most of the year. Having just gotten back into reading regularly, I was mostly plowing through fun sci-fi novellas and mid nonfiction (perhaps, all nonfiction is simply mid at best). SWIM was the first that stood out as a work that had goals beyond entertainment - and succeeded. Prose, structure, the unflinching honesty of "I think this is a good basis for a novel but fuck it, let's punch it up." Geoff has always deserved more than just being "the guy who gave MCR their first break" and I'm so happy for him!

Idlewild by James Frankie Thomas is dead-heat-tied for favorite of the year. Calling it a "psychological thriller" evokes superhuman serial killers and action setpieces, but I truly have no other way of describing it. A moment in time (NYC post-9/11; teenhood of the early 00s) captured in the obsessive, codependent romantic-friendship of queer teen weirdos. I couldn't put it down. Watching Nell and Fay's all-consuming relationship jump the rails and witnessing their shared plural perspective split into their separate, singular narrative chapters felt like being flayed open.

(If only they were a few years younger, and had been teens when The Black Parade came out. That would have fixed nothing but I like to think those fanfic-writing theater kids would've loved the album.)

20. What’s something you learned this year? HM this is a good one. I answered the above right away, but needed to reflect on this since receiving the ask.

I think I'm a person prone to inertia, I don't naturally assume the role of initiating. And this year I spent a lot of time stepping out of that predilection. It's not like I was ever happy not doing anything, just that I couldn't conceive of the steps and the consistency in pursuing them.

This year I confronted that a lot, both personally and professionally. I got multiple tattoos (so much emailing), I planned TWO birthday parties for myself (regular winter bday and then forced everyone to go to the beach for my half birthday), I booked a short trip by myself! Not to mention all of the time I got to spend with friends just because I stopped being such a passenger princess. This was all shit I've always wanted to do that's never happened as much before!

I also had to do all this shit professionally, too, but that's way less fun and heartwarming lol. But hey I art directed an entire [redacted] and posters I designed were plastered all over NYC, which fuckin ruled.

Why Do You Love Me Satan? - Review #6

i love sharing random obscure shit

this is by a band called Fucking Werewolf Asso. they are a band from Sweden. this record is putrid and absolutely amazing at the same time and i honestly don't even know what genre to define it as. punk rock is probably the closest match. at only 31 minutes in length, this release flies by in what feels like seconds. but man, those are some memorable seconds.

Cri Du Chat is a (mostly) instrumental introduction, allowing you to get a good feel for how the rest of this album is gonna sound. pretty standard stuff. My New Sneakers Could Never Replace My Multi-Colored Bangalores then continues with a massive breakdown beat and some of the most in-your-face, abhorrent screaming and singing i have ever heard. but there's a level of cohesion and understanding to the madness. this band really knows what they're doing and have already shown that with just the second track. The Tito Beltrán Massacre has a much more punk-friendly sound with some 8-bit-inspired synths added into the mix, reminiscent of some sorta old Nintendo game (hence why this band is usually referred to as "Nintendocore," but i hate that phrase). Alphonse Laurencic starts out with the now typical whiny scream-singing until exploding into a massive wall of sound. if the band hadn't shown you that they're worth your ears just yet, they have now.

the biggest highlight to me, though, is the 5-minute Your Ex Doesn't Mark Treasures. it's the longest piece on this record by far, with every other song having an average runtime of around 2 to 3 minutes. it closes out everything perfectly, feeling like the band's true magnum opus. if nothing connected beforehand, this one will. it's probably the easiest song to listen to by them and it really shows. it also features a different vocalist sometimes, which can help keep it grounded for the more serious tone it sets.

as mentioned before, the main vocalist sounds like shit. it may be on purpose, but i can definitely understand why that would turn some people off. having an open mind is a pretty necessary part to enjoying this album because it sounds like this band wants to rip your face off as soon as possible and then eat it. but hey, that's the main appeal in my opinion so there's a really good chance this one's not for everybody and that's alright too.

i hope you liked my little show and tell. this album has become a favorite of mine, reminding me a lot of MCR's debut if it was more unhinged with the vocals and tighter with the instrumental. there's a clear influence of all things punk and old VGM on this record, which is a hard combination to nail as well as it does here.
