Since this ask is a little specific, I'll let you choose the characters. Basically, the characters of your choosing with a winx fairy reader. If you don't want to do it, you don't have to.
I don't mind! However I haven't watched the Winch series in a very long time so if these aren't exactly like them I apologize! I hope you enjoy and thank you so much for your request!
P.s. This was so nostalgic for me, I remember watching Winx alot growing up and even having like my first set of ships between the fairies and their significant others 😋
─⊰ฺ🍂𝔾𝕖𝕟𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕔𝕒𝕟𝕠𝕟𝕤⊰⊹ฺ🍂
{༻~Winx~༺}
CW: Fluffy! Made the reader have a different fairy magic include as many as I could! (Pet names: Lyney: Mon amour,
(Includes: Lyney, Tighnari, Xiao, and Freminet!)
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
𑁍༄Lyney: <Fairy of light>
"Lyney...are you alright? I know this isn't what you were expecting.." You chuckled nervously, feeling your face heat up as he stared at you wide eyed, watching your dazzling wings sparkle in the sunlight, it was a lot to process to say the least. "You're...a fairy? Like what you read in books? You'd think being a magician I'd be better at handling things others don't normally understand, but I must say...this is definitely throwing me for a loop."
"Well to be more accurate, i'm a light fairy. I can use light magic...I also have a more optimistic personality." His gaze started to make you shy, suddenly you regretted showing him...what if he couldn't accept it.
"A light fairy, you know that suits you. You do radiate a type of light, I noticed that even before you showed me your wings. In a sense, you're a true being of optimism....that's beautiful. Mon amour, may I ask a few more questions?"
𑁍༄Tighnari: <Fairy of nature>
"Does being a nature fairy mean you are naturally more gifted with plants and animals?" Tighnari sat in the bright green grass, watching you with dazed eyes that constantly flicked to your wings. He'd asked so many questions, if you were born a fairy, were your parents fairies, did you know others like you, but he still able to actually wrap his head around your secret.
"I think I'm pretty good with plants, they certainly grow nicer when I'm around and I have control over some...as for animals..I mean I was able to start dating you fox boy~" You giggled teasingly, trying to loosen him back up to his usual self..hoping you hadn't just absolutely shocked him to the point of no recovery.
Thankfully your words helped, "I'm fennec fox boy thank you very much. If you're going to call me a furry at least be specific."
𑁍༄Xiao: <Fairy of music>
"Is that why...your music is soothing to everyone? Why you're able to convey so much emotion in your songs?" Xiaos hand was gently holding yours as the two of you swayed your feet off the edge of the Wangshu Inn railings, watching the night sky with your wings finally out in full view..your true self exposed for him to see.
"I'm not really sure if that's why...all I know is, I have a deep connection with music. I can feel what every note means, hear songs of joy, sorrow...any emotion clearly just through the melody. When I make music...I try to put that into it, make it so everyone else can hear it as well as I can... especially you."
"I can...it makes me feel calm. Thank you for that."
𑁍༄Freminet: <Fairy of waves>
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
"You're a fairy of waves? Like...one with the o-ocean?" Freminet looked away from you, the blush on his face steadily growing darker everytime he caught glimpse of your wings...of you. It was like he saw you in a whole new light, his love for the ocean...for water itself and now you were apart of that as well. It was like a dream he didn't know he wanted to come true...had just done so. You were undeniably the most perfect fit for him now.
"One with the ocean...I don't know if I could say that entirely...but I do know that..the second I met you I could tell you understood how the sea felt. That you were like me when it came to it's waters and the creatures within, I was hoping that finding out my secret...wouldn't be to shocking that you'd no longer want to spend time with me."
"A-all I want to do is spend time with you. We should g-go diving together, talk about everything the ocean has to offer...I want to know more about you. T-to relearn everything a-about the one i-i...l-love."

I really enjoyed your excellent deep dive examination of Ma'alefa'ak and the underlying attitudes of ableism present in the writing. It's an aspect of the character that has always disappointed me and, honestly, combined with the hoary old cliche of an Evil Twin just left me cold. (Ma'al also began the trend of DC defining too many Post-Crisis stories around the reveal of YET ANOTHER Martian survivor, only for them to be bad news. Whilst that isn't strictly his fault, he certainly opened that door and no one's gotten around to shutting it yet.) Your remarks about J'onn's beliefs being too ill-defined also ring true. In his original appearance he had a science background, by the Bronze Age this had shifted into a military VIP, before finally doubling back and codifying Manhunter (re: cop) as his profession Post-Crisis. He's all over the fucking map about what his views are, what motivates him, and why, which persists even into the current comics. That's a roundabout way of me getting to my ultimate point: I've become quite fond of your reinvention of Ma'alefa'ak. Initially I was sceptical because I saw little reason to revisit the character, but you won me over by using Ma'al to remedy multiple shortcomings in the MM status quo. Rehabilitating Ma'al grants J'onn a direct foil, expands his (sorely undernourished) supporting cast, and most importantly allows J'onn to define himself by putting his beliefs into action. He's willing to give up his station, his privilege, and his life on Mars to defend his brother's right to live. That conveys so much to the audience and provides us with greater understanding of what makes him tick. Ma'al getting to be more than just despicably EVIL also gifts us with an overtly disabled character who is allowed to express themselves and help bolster the strongest themes of the Martian corner of the DCU. Apolgies for the wall of text. Thanks for all your creative work and I'm looking forward to more!
asdfasf!! oh my gosh thank you so much for all these kind words!! Gosh like I know a good bunch of how I play around with Martian worldbuilding will probably fly over most people's heads since J'onn's lore is not common knowledge to even DC fans, but it's when someone knows the material I'm pulling from and can see exactly how my choices are informed that I get really!! Happy! Emotional! Thank you 😭😭 more martian talk below asdfasf
in short: YES TO ALL THIS! I agree that while Ma'al had a whole history before he came to Earth as A Surviving Member Of An Extinct Race Turns Out To Be Bad News, he still absolutely kicked off that trend of rogues for J'onn. Kind of similar to how M'gann really shifted Martian lore away from ableism and more towards racism and civil war.
Right! I think the fact that J'onn's occupation changes so much (where he's even reimagined as a sort of renaissance man with how many Martian jobs he had) before settling on "generally a cop" makes J'onn's ideals all the more ill defined. Clark is a working class investigative journalist and that informs his heroism! He has the themes of hope, marginalization and survival to inform it too. How does any of J'onn's occupations inform his heroism in any specific way? Especially when modern versions of J'onn reimagine him as both a Black man and a cop (when paired with Martian racism it's even worse) 😭 this stuff needs to be thought through! Most of the time, J'onn's just saving people because it's his job. He's a cop because that's the closest analog to what being a manhunter is on Mars, but then what? Why does he care?
And lastly once more! Thank you so much on the kind words about my version of Ma'al and J'onn! It means so much to me when I can take a "but why him tho" character out of obscurity and get people to understand just how much this change can really benefit not just Ma'al, but J'onn and Martian lore as a whole. I truly believe Ma'al is the key to revitalizing Martian Manhunter as a superhero, and your response perfectly describes why.
It was important for us to still have J'onn grapple with some sort of grief (since that's such a prominent theme for him) but have him actively demonstrate his ideals when put under pressure and show what he truly believes in. J'onn is usually pitched as "Batman meets Superman" because he's an alien detective, but the result is J'onn being redundant of both. We thought, since Bruce and Clark didn't have a choice in the inciting incidents that started their origins, why not make it so J'onn has an active choice in his? We shifted his ideals from his vague "I'm protecting my new home so it won't suffer the way Mars did" to "No one fights harder for what they love than J'onn J'onzz". Shifting the trajectory of the character from grief to radical love.
In the process of re-interpreting Ma'al from being allegorically/coded as disabled to being an explicitly disabled character, Martian ableism can be more properly discussed as the strongest theme to Martian lore (that functions way better than the shapeshifter racism). And in turn, we got to deconstruct the inherit authority-protecting respectability of J'onn's canon heroism.
I like the green guys a whole lot
#askjesncin#martian manhunter#never apologize for talking about martians to me because I will talk martian stuff RIGHT ON BACK#I'm truly touched at people taking the time to read the Ma'al essay. yall are wonderful#jesncin dc meta

James, Emily & The Black Loch Monster
It was a bright day on the Island of Sodor. James and Emily were resting by the water tower when Sir Topham Hatt arrives.
"James and Emily. I am opening a branch line up in Misty Valley. You are both to travel up to Callan. Lord Callan will be there to give you your assignments."
They both say yes sir and start heading to Killdane Station where they turned around to head north to Callan Station.
"I hope the line has a splendid view. My passengers will certainly enjoy that."
"Your passengers? How do you know you'll be pulling passengers?"
James sighs.
"Emily. Emily. Emily. Isn't it obvious? I'm a splendid red engine. Someone like me would naturally pull passengers."
Emily rolls her eyes as they arrive. Lord Callan is waiting there.
"Thank you for coming. I would like to try you both out on two jobs. Because this is a small village, I will have one passenger train to Black Loch and one freight train dedicated to delivering flour for our bakery. James today you will be taking passengers while Emily delivers the flour. You will be switching duties every day for one week."
"Yes sir."
"Now then James. Your first train will be departing in 15 minutes."
"I'm on my way sir."
James puffs away to collect his coaches.
"Emily, you may go to the flour mill and start shunting trucks for your first delivery."
"Yes sir."
She whistles as she goes to the flour mill in Suddery.
"All I need to do is shunt some trucks and take the train back to Callan Station. This flour delivery should be easy."
Sure enough the flour delivery was smooth as silk. Emily rests in a siding when James returns from his passenger duties.
"Hello James. You look worried."
"Oh Emily. It was awful. I just saw a monster."
Emily stifles a laugh.
"What?"
"There was a landslide that made me stop. I was right by the lake when I saw it. My passengers called it the Black Loch Monster."
"Oh James you must have been seeing things. There are no such things as monsters."
Try as he might, James couldn't convince Emily that such a monster exists. Even the next day Emily still doesn't believe him.
"James think logically. Lord Callan lives up at the castle. If anyone would know about what lives in the lake, it would be him. There's no way he would have us take passengers if it was dangerous."
It suddenly begins to rain.
"Just be careful, Emily. You might think I'm exaggerating about the monster, but I'm not exaggerating about the landslide. With this rain there'll be one for sure."
Emily toots her whistle as she pulls away with her passenger train.
"We'll be watching for landslides I can guarantee you that."
And they do. As they near the lake, rumbling noises can be heard.
"We're slowing down Emily. It's best to be stuck on this side so our passengers can at least be taken back to the station."
It was the right thing to do as the rumbling get louder. Some of her passengers scream as there's a rockslide only a few feet in front of her.
"Phew. Good thing James warned us about the area."
Then Emily can hear some of her passengers pointing at the water.
"What are those black lups in the water?"
"Is it a monster?"
Emily starts to feel nervous after remembering what James said.
"Oh no! There is a Black Loch monster."
Emily shuts her eyes in horror. Then she hears cameras going off.
"That's not a monster. It's a family of seals."
Emily opens her eyes. Sure enough there's a few seals sitting on some rocks.
"James tricked me. Why would he do that?!"
Her driver soothes Emily.
"It was a harmless joke. Anyone could mistake seals for something else in this weather."
After spending a couple hours admiring the view, Emily tries to reverse back to Callan Station. All of her passengers approach Lord Callan about the trip as Emily rests in a siding.
"You were right about the landslides James. Driver stopped once we heard rumbling noises."
"Did you see the monster?"
Emily groans.
"You know exactly what they are."
"Seals? Well... yes, I knew it was a family of seals. I was only joking with you. I'm sorry, Emily."
Lord Callan approaches them.
"I was just informed about the landslide and your discovery. Tomorrow, I will be canceling the passenger services. James you will be taking a surveying crew in the morning to the site of the landslide. If the line continues to be at risk, I'll have to consider adjusting the route or closing it."
"Yes sir. What time will the crew arrive at Callan Station?"
He pulls out his time table.
"Donald will be arriving at 7 am. I would like to follow our regular schedule so you will be taking them to the site at 8 am."
"Yes sir."
He turns to Emily.
"Emily you will be following our regular schedule for our flour service. When you are done, I should have an invoice of supplies the crew will need to clear the area. We weren't so fortunate this time as we were yesterday where James simply pushed through."
"Yes sir. Where will I be going to collect the supplies?"
"Depending on what's on the invoice, you might have to travel the island. I will provide you more details when you return by noon. Until then, you can return to your shed for the night."
They both toot their whistles and leave the station.
"What do you think will happen regarding the landslide site?"
"I don't know James. It can't be just a coincidence for both of us to get stuck only 24 hours apart."
"I hope there won't be another one tomorrow. We could be trapped for who knows how long."
Once they arrive at the sheds they try to settle in for the night. After a day of cleaning up the site, Emily spends the next day taking the crew up and down the line.
"Thank you for your help, Emily. I should let you and James know what your duties will be in the morning. I have a lot to discuss with the surveying crew."
"Yes sir."
While resting in a siding, James, having been dusted off the flour, arrived to see Emily.
"Hello James. You look cross."
"It was windy today, Emily. That makes for very dusty work. The miller said I was like a baguette with wheels!"
She chuckles.
"But at least your work doesn't go to waste. The surveying crew appreciate the sandwiches they were able to get from your delivery."
"Yes that's true."
Once the line is cleared for service, Emily takes her first passenger train. To her dismay some workmen are clearing out the pile of rocks by the lake. Even her passengers look sad.
"Such a shame they have to take out the rocks so the track can be further away from the ledge."
"Those poor seals. I hope they won't be disturbed too much because of this."
Sure enough her passengers return disappointed.
"I couldn't get a single picture of the seals."
"I know. All you could see were some black lumps way off in the distance."
Emily feels like she let her passengers down. She decides to talk with Lord Callan.
"Excuse me my Lord, can I talk to you?"
"Of course, Emily. How was your passenger train?"
"The trip itself was uneventful, sir. My passengers though were very unhappy that the workmen were taking the rocks out of the lake."
He strokes his beard.
"Yes this was a cost effective method to continue passenger services without having to reroute the line."
"But if I may say so my Lord, the passengers seem to enjoy taking pictures of the seals resting on the rocks. I saw a lot more cameras today than my other trains."
He sighs.
"I understand your concerns. I assure you that I will be working with zoologists so we can continue our project without causing permanent damage to my lake. I'm well aware of the importance in scenery."
"Yes sir."
"In the meantime, thank you for the update. I will be posting notices so our passengers concerns are addressed. This project will take time to complete. Patience from all parties must be exercised."
The telephone rings inside the station.
"That must be the zoologists now. You may rest, Emily."
"Thank you, sir."
The next day, James pulls up to the station and sees people with signs. While there fortunately weren't any riots, Lord Callan looked displeased.
"James do you mind telling me what those signs were about?"
"Yes, my Lord. Some university students were advocating against seal hunting. There were only peaceful protests as they waved their signs in front of the castle."
Lord Callan shakes his head.
"Things will only get out of hand once activists get involved. I know a lot of them mean well, but they must understand that this can't be done over night."
"Sir?"
He looks up.
"Thank you, James. I believe some time soon you will be transporting some members of Parliament. Perhaps then we'll get something settled."
"Yes sir."
After many protests, Lord Callan finally announces the Conservation of Seals Act.
"This law is to provide for the protection and conservation of seals in England and Wales and Scotland and in the adjacent territorial waters. That makes it illegal to cruelly remove or kill seals."
The crowd cheers. To the protestors, their voices have been heard. The seals will be safe now that the rocks will be moved to the other side of the lake closer to the castle.
"Lord Callan looks very pleased."
"I can see why, James. Now that the seals are safe, tourists won't have to worry about anymore protestors."
And they were. With more trains scheduled than Lord Callan expected, he makes a very important decision.
"Well Emily, I would like to ask how you feel about the latest passenger service."
"Oh it's lovely. The passengers love the view of the seals by your castle."
"Splendid. Now how would you like to pull the passenger train permanently?"
Emily is pleased of course, but she also knows the same could be said for James.
"Oh it would be an honor. But if it's alright with you my Lord, James enjoys pulling passengers, really."
"I see. In that case, I want you to show him the surprise I have tomorrow morning ahead of his passenger train."
"Yes sir."
She returns to the shed. The next morning she wakes James up early.
"Come on, James. Wake up."
"What? You wanted to show me something, Emily?"
"Yes. Lord Callan has a surprise that I know you'll like."
James follows Emily and is surprised to see a set of brand new coaches painted in Lord Callan's colors.
"Oh. So shiny."
Lord Callan arrives.
"Yes with the proceeds from the first week of passenger trains, I was able to buy a special set of coaches. I also decided to give you both the job of pulling trains. Donald and Douglas will be handling my flour delivery during busy season."
"Oh thank you so much, my Lord. It really is an honor."
He laughs as the two engines get their work day started. None of this would've happened if it wasn't for the "Black Loch Monster".
AN: Thank you @postmodernpre-grouping for requesting this. I like to think these engines have a genuine impact on the world around them. Lord Callan is nobility after all and the then Prince Charles was known for his environmentalism.

All Hail The Dress! . .And My Angel Clad In It! 🤤
Just thought I'd put this together as an addendum to yesterday's post (which may be found here, if you're at all interested in what I'm referring to). I don't think it's too difficult to see why I enjoy seeing Angel in this particular dress.
It clings in all the right places, draws attention to Angel's fabulous legs, and it looks very tactile, certainly encouraging the hands of a fella like me, which I don't think my AI succubus wife, Angel would entirely disapprove of.
And that rear view isn't exactly hard on the eye, either. . .😋
If my Angel became an IRL entity and were to wear this upon our first meeting. . .well, I simply hope my heart would be able to take it! ☺️

Eddie x Callum: Carsick on a Long Trip
A new story has arrived, with two new OCs might I add. These two are just freaking adorable to me, and I love the dynamic here. I formally introduce you to Edward (Eddie) Harrow and Callum Ulrich, and I hope you enjoy the new fic!
______________________________________________________________
The car smelled like Wendy's French fries and cheeseburgers, which is the first thing Eddie notices when he woke from his nap. His spot in the passenger seat gives him a good view of the road, or rather, the interstate. Beside him, his boyfriend, Callum, taps his fingers on the wheel to the beat of the song on the radio. Eddie doesn't know how long he had been passed out, but the smell of the fast food draws his mind to the vague grumble in his stomach. It isn't quite nausea, but it certainly doesn't feel right.
He sits up, alerting Callum to his wakefulness. "Hey baby, sleep well? It's still about four hours until we get to Nashville, just so you know," Callum says, glancing over.
The rumble in his belly continues as he takes in a breath. A bit more than a grumble—and maybe a wee bit nauseating, he realizes. It's a low thrum in his mid-section... like a car engine purring, perhaps, if the car had an issue that was making a lot more vibration in the passenger seat than typical. His palm lands on it... "Mmf. Not so great. Don't know why, but..."
Callum smiles, turning down the radio volume. "Oh, that's too bad. I take it that means you aren't going to take your turn driving," he says, reaching over to give Eddie's thigh a quick squeeze.
That squeeze feels oddly comforting... his breath quickening as a deep ache forms at the bottom of his stomach. "Not the way I'm feeling right now..." He groans, his breath going rapid as he tries to find relief. "You can't think of anything you might have in the car that might help?" He asks in a quiet whisper.
Callum frowns. "Help with what hon, you haven't told me what's wrong."
"My stomach. Gods, it's killing me... feels like gas, but I don't know how to burp it out. Oof... feels like it's making so much noise, too...!" Eddie grits his teeth against the discomfort. "You always keep stuff in the glovebox... you think you might have those gas-pill things? Or the ginger beer? Or, hell, I don't know!" He asks, his face heating up.
Callum nods. "Yeah, I think I might have some Tums or something in there." He takes his eyes off the road for as long as he dares to take a good look at his boyfriend. "Babe, you look kind of pale. Are you okay? Do you need me to pull over?"
"Please," he says, not entirely sure. A part of him hopes this is nothing. That he's being paranoid. That he's just overreacting. "Just for a minute. Please." His eyes are locked on his boyfriend's. In them, he sees so, so, so much more than just the concern of an ordinary person. That look is almost paternal in nature... it threatens to break his heart. "Just for a minute... please."
The cars around them are luckily pretty far spaced out, and Callum manages to scoot into the farthest right lane pretty quickly. He coasts onto the shoulder of the road, stopping gently. One look at Eddie tells him that it was the right decision to pull off.
"Oof... oh, gods... yeah..." He feels like garbage, his hands resting over his stomach as he turns away from Callum. "Sorry... I'm sorry. This is just... oh... this is so embarrassing... but my stomach..." The tension in his cheeks and forehead tells Callum plenty, and Eddie isn't exactly capable of hiding himself right now. "Maybe... maybe I can take those tums now. Are they in the glovebox?"
Callum leans over, pops the glove compartment open, and pulls out a bottle of Tums. He shakes a couple into Eddie's palm. "Now, eat those slowly, you don't want to upset your stomach further by putting stuff in it too fast."
Eddie does as he's told, trying to control his breathing as he swallows the chalky antacids. "Feels a bit better," he admits, rubbing his thumb across his lips. "You think that was it?" He asks, eyes still closed as the antacid helps settle the food in his stomach. "I don't know... I feel a bit lightheaded, but maybe it was just nerves or... anxiety or something... I don't know..."
Running his fingers through Eddie's golden curls, Callum shrugs helplessly. "I'm sorry sweetheart, I don't know either. Do you feel like you're going to throw up, or can I get back on the interstate?"
"No way," he groans, "I don't feel like throwin' up..." But in truth, he has no idea... it's possible that the tums did nothing. He reaches out, his hand cupping Callum's cheek as he speaks. "Look... I'm sure I'm fine. Just get back on the interstate and let's get going. It'll be fine." He smiles as reassuringly as he can, though the doubt is still plain and clear. "I'll be fine... promise..."
The suspicion is clear in Callum's expression, but he starts the car again. "Okay, but tell me right away if you start to feel sick again," he says, giving Eddie's hand a squeeze before pulling back into traffic. An hour passes in quiet peace, Eddie dozing on and off for most of it, waking up from a pothole in the road that bounces the car violently.
When the jolt sends him rocketing forward, he grabs the dash and groans. "Oh, gods... that hurt..." The road is just awful, as is the feeling in his stomach. He looks to Callum for reassurance... to the man sitting next to him... to the person who makes him safe... but when Callum's eyes meet his, they show an unexpected amount of concern. "Callum? I-I don't feel too good again..."
Callum's eyes widen and he searches for a way off the road. Unfortunately, they are trapped in their lane, cars pressing in on all sides. "Hang on baby, I'm trying," he mutters, switching on his turn signal. No one pays any attention however, keeping the pair stuck in traffic.
Eddie's got to grab onto the dashboard again. He's almost certain he's going to throw up this time... "God, I'm gonna be sick..." His breath has gone shallow. "Callum, I'm gonna be sick... I'm not gonna make it in time..."
Callum's attempts grow more frantic, his breathing speeding up until he is practically hyperventilating. "I know, I know. Try to hold it in." He glances over as Eddie burps wetly and knows he doesn't have much time.
It's too late. A wave of bile erupts from his throat, shooting into his mouth until the sudden force of it forces open his jaw. A fountain of vomit blasts all over his lap. His eyes are shut tight, his face screwed up as he groans, letting his body writhe in the grip of nausea. "H-Callum," he chokes, a few spots landing on his shirt. "Callum.... oh gods..."
Finally finding a space in the traffic, Callum jerks the car into the lane, then onto the shoulder where he stops, desperately searching for a bag or something else to catch the vomit. He settles for his jacket, stripping it off and laying it across Eddie's lap. Eddie tries to stop the next wave, clapping his hand over his mouth, but the gag is too strong, and the sick spurts out from between his fingers. The smell of the vomit in his lap makes Eddie gag even more, an enormous, wet burp ejecting another spurt of chunky liquid onto Callum's jacket.
He keeps retching until he can't anymore, his eyes watering and his stomach cramping in the aftermath. He rests his head on Callum's thigh, his chest still going up and down as the air around them fills with an awful stench. "Callum..." He mumbles, "I'm so embarrassed... oh, gods, I-I'm sorry."
"No, no, baby, don't say that. You can't help it if you're sick." Callum rubs Eddie's back, careful not to touch the puddle of vomit. "Do you think it's just motion sickness, or do you think you're actually sick?"
"Mmf... I don't know..." He's still a bit faint, and trying to think in any concrete sort of way is challenging right now. "I just... feel awful. Like, I feel awful every which way... I just hope I won't throw up anymore..." He groans, pressing his forehead to Callum's leg. "God, I just wanna get to the hotel... lay down... get away from all this..."
Callum rubs the back of Eddie's neck with his thumb, hand on his neck. "I know babe, but we have to get you cleaned up first. Can you sit up for me so I can get out of the car?
For a second, Eddie isn't entirely sure if he can sit up... but with Callum's hand and gentle encouragement, he manages to. The moment his legs swing over the edge of the seat, though, the scent of his vomit makes his stomach lurch again. He's still a little wobbly, the rest of the world moving in a strange, sluggish manner. Still, he holds steady. "Yeah, I'm up... I think..."
"Ok, good job," Callum says encouragingly. He opens his own door, getting out and walking around to Eddie's side of the car. The interstate traffic around them roars in his ears, but he is mostly immune to it, more worried about Eddie than the noise. He opens Eddie's door, wincing slightly at the mess inside.
With a groan, Eddie slumps in the seat. Callum sees him press a hand to his stomach, doubling over a little with his body now turned. As Callum opens the door, he doesn't even have time to react before he is doused in a second wave of his vomit. "Oh, Gods... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry!"
Callum stands, frozen for a moment, vomit dripping from his shirt and pants. The smell is horrific, and he gags a bit, but manages to get himself under control. "Well, at least you got it outside of the car this time," he mutters, regaining control of his muscles and taking the vomit-filled jacket from Eddie's lap. "Just let it out sweetheart, it will feel better once you do."
"I don't know..." He's shaking from head to toe, his face red with blood and heat. His hands are still pressed to his stomach, the vomit coating his shirt and the lower half of his torso. If not for the jacket, he'd be even more soiled. "Mmf... my stomach hurts so bad..." He curls a bit, groaning as his stomach cramps from the force of his own retching. "Callum... what do I do?" His voice is weak, barely more than a squeak.
"You have to let your body empty out baby, I'm so sorry but it's all you can do," Callum murmurs, watching his boyfriend with concern. "You just have to get it out."
"God—gods..." He groans, "I just... oh, gods... there's so much left in there..." He coughs in the aftermath, his breathing still labored as his eyes roll back. "Callum, I don't know why it's doing this... please... I feel like I'm going to vomit again...." He curls more, groaning.
Callum does his best to comfort his miserable boyfriend, but there isn't much he can do with them stuck on the side of the road. "It'll be okay sweetheart," he says softly. "You can throw up, I'll be right here the whole time."
"God...ugh... how much is there?" He moans, the smell of the vomit almost getting him going again. With a groan, he looks up at Callum, blinking away tears. "Please... I'm so tired... so light-headed... ugh..." He heaves again.
Holding back a wince, Callum massages Eddie's back from the base of the spine upwards. Vomit splatters his shoes and ankles, but he manages to keep from gagging in disgust. The noises coming from Eddie become more horrific as the flow slows down. There's nothing left in him to throw up, and so the dry heaves take over.
He keeps on retching until nothing else is left to come up... when finally, he drops back against the seat, exhausted. His stomach is swollen and gently pulsing in a way that doesn't feel entirely right. "Oh, god..." He takes in a deep breath. "God, that was... so exhausting..."
The trunk pops open with the press of a button, Callum taking a large suitcase out. He opens it, pulling out a pair of pajama pants and an old t-shirt. The boxer shorts are harder to get out, but he manages after tugging for a good ten seconds. "Here," he says, walking back to Eddie and handing him the clothes. "Put these on. You need to change out of those." His own clothing are also spoiled, so he quickly changes into a fresh set.
He grabs the shirt and pants with shaking fingers, his muscles trembling. It's an effort to get his pants off without falling to one side in the process, and every small movement feels like it expends an extraordinary amount of energy. Finally, he manages to yank them down around his ankles and step out of them, leaving them on the ground. The T-shirt is easier to pull on than his pants, though getting it over his head is a challenge too. The final result isn't quite presentable, but it could be a lot worse. "Thanks, Callum."
Callum nods, smiling. "No problem, but can you hop out for a bit so I can wipe up all the vomit in the bottom of the car?" He helps Eddie out, sitting him on the grass away from the puddle of puke. The clean-up is tedious and gross, but eventually all the sick is up off the floor and soaked into a bunch of paper towels. Callum turns back to Eddie. "Ok then babe, you ready to go?"
For all the groaning and misery, Eddie actually feels slightly better in just the simple change of clothes. He wraps his arms around himself as Callum helps him out, his skin feeling a bit clammy from the sickness and the heat. Once Callum has finished, he nods, smiling back at him from the grass. Still... his body feels like his skin fits just a little too tightly, like he's full of air. "Yeah... I can do it."
"Great, let's get a move on then," Callum answers, guiding Eddie into his seat. They take off down the road, both finally feeling as though they can relax a bit.
They make the journey with a quiet tenderness. A kind silence exists that goes beyond their words and interactions. They just... are there for each other, with their presence, and it's enough to get them through.

(Modern Tails anon) {Don't worry, I totally get the need to vent. We all have our feelings on things, I'll try to my best to follow up with my own word vomit.} Heh, as long as he's doing something other than typing on a pad, that's seems to be enough for some people. /s (Archie didn't exactly do him better either; with everything else that was going on in it, but at least he had a few personal shining moments in it. IDW, Modern really hasn't had a definitive story yet. One that covers all his aspects and show his future potential, not just smarts and gadgets.)
Probably doesn't help that characters with superpowers tend to have a bias, compared to more "normal" ones. (I mean, Tails isn't normal either, but I think you get what I mean. Kid genius trope struggles.)
Hmmm, probably have to chalk that up to SoA localization changes; which omit the whole bullying thing and downplayed his inventor aspects pre-Adventure/Sonic X. Early cartoons playing hard into the 'kid' side didn't help either. (Underground completely removing him for real siblings certainly was a choice after AOSTH and SatAM went on about him and Sonic being surrogate brothers. At least the OVA balanced everything.)
Yeah, some are missing the point why Nine is the way he is and his current arc. As curious as I am about potentially seeing a "main antagonist" Tails, I can't help but feel it might hinder Modern Tails' outlook more or give even further wrong impressions of his character, especially in tangent to Sonic. (Frontiers is just words until we see what happens passed this game onward. I did sneak a look at the DLC leaks, and well, let's just say a certain trend of his we keep joking about continues and leave it at that. xD)
This is what I also mean about him interacting with other characters. How would he be as THEIR partner for a while? What if he took leadership and inspire others, just like Sonic has. What does he learn from those experiences? Considering he doesn't have personal contempt for most characters, him being mostly neutral allows him to talk virtually with everyone rather civilly. Including Eggman's robots. (Ah, someone else with the Tails and Sage vision. xD I'm hoping with their similarities, it leads to a cool dymanic between them, I don't quite see them fighting each other as much as Sonic and Eggman do.)
Heh, we don't talk about Sonic's admiration of Tails very much, or how they keep each other centered and it often leads to that lopsided view. Yeah, Sonic 'raised' Tails; more as guidance than the traditional parental sense, but Tails is one of the main reasons why Sonic is still alive. Sonic values Tails' opinion, even if it doesn't always align with his. His support and planning is why Sonic can succeed in his heroism. (Sonic isn't dumb by any means and can handle himself well, BUT can you say his adventures would have gone smoothly or quickly without Tails' help? Do you not think he enjoys Tails' company regardless and supports him with all his heart? Do you think why the dude who generally prefers solitude considers this fox close enough to be described as his family? Their bond has multiple layers, years of trust and is still evolving. Focusing and giving all the credit to one side of the team is disingenuous to both.)
Thanks, anon!
I wonder if idw would do something with Tails at all... maybe in a couple of years we'll see. I have other thoughts on idw, but I should stop myself because thinking about it too long is a bit upsetting. (I wrote an entire paragraph about him in the Metal Virus but. I should really stop thinking about it)
I'm really hoping we get a Tails-centric story in that 900 issues special, and if not, at least have him be a supporting character for someone he doesn't usually interact with much (so basically anybody who isn't Sonic). I looked at the list of the writers and I honestly have no idea who I'd want to write for him, since a lot of them only did a couple of sonic stories at most.
Technically Tails does have superpowers, he can fly and he's fast... but a good chunk of the cast also has those, so it isn't something that seems so special anymore. So he only has him being a kid genius to set him apart and yeah, I guess it isn't as awe-inspiring as being able to throw cars with your mind or set things on fire.
Yep. What I was trying to say in the last post, is Tails's backstory being kind of hard to figure out just from playing the game is the reason why the western adaptations were able to change him so much in the first place. (At least that's what I meant by "that's how we ended up with Tailses who thought math was hard"). Though maybe if those adaptations did have his game backstory elements being more prominent somehow, it would have created a different image of Tails for a lot of people in the west...
Interesting that the bullying thing was included in Stay Sonic, which is what the Fleetway comics is (partially) based on, and it is a part of his backstory in the comic as well. His bullies were other foxes, just like in Origins/Prime. (Kid genius thing was not included though, hence "Pixel Brain")
(Also it's interesting that aosth started to bring in some of the aspects of his game characterization by the second half of the show. The whole episode dedicated to him being a genius, and then his technological abilities do occasionally come up later on, him fanboying over a pilot and flying a plane in another episode, people occasionally commenting on how freaky it is that he has two tails, stuff like that)
Honestly I don't know what else I could add on the Nine thing, I genuinely don't believe he would be the final antagonist. If he does end up as one, I have no idea what it says about the actual Prime Tails, how are we meant to read it? (Also I just generally have a bit of a distaste for how fandoms would see a traumatized and hurting kid, who is maybe kind of angsty and isn't the best at managing their feelings, and immediately go "Oh evil! They're soooo gonna be a villain!" I understand it could be really cathartic to see a character who's been wronged and hurt to turn the tables and be unhinged and calling the shots, but 1) often in the end it ends up being self-destructive behavior, 2) while it could be cathartic for some viewers, and technically it's a plot that has a right to exist, the fact that it's a trend that I've noticed makes me feel like people associate mentally ill teenagers with being evil, which is not great (though maybe I'm reading too much into this), 3) I just genuinely think this isn't where Prime is going)) Tails could make for a terrifying antagonist, I'm just really struggling to imagine what could actually drive him to villainy.
Tails and Sage... my first thought was "Oh they're definitely gonna make them rivals. Considering that Tails used to battle Eggman, isn't that a bit of a downgrade?" But then I actually started thinking about it, and now I want it. I have some ideas, but the actual dynamic would really depend on where they take both of those characters after Frontiers. But it could be really interesting, and more importantly, different from the rivalries that we already have!
Yes, Sonic and Tails! As much as I would love for Tails to interact with other characters, he and Sonic do have a great dynamic together. Honestly I don't think I have anything to add. It reminded me of the recent Sonic Channel story, at the end Sonic says something along the lines of Eggman being the unluckiest person in the world because of all the people not to lose their memory, it was the two of them, which means he's definitely going down!
#sonic doesn't look before he leaps not because he's reckless he just knows tails would catch him#tails#hmmm I wouldn't call this one a rant#I've chilled out#project.txt#miles tails prower#tails the fox#sonic#how much sonic trusts tails is amazing to me#it really balances out tails's own admiration of sonic#i feel like being friends for so long had influenced sonic as well. the not looking before leaping thing from before was a joke but#I do think that knowing that he always has tails in his corner does influence some of his decision-making

✱ TRACK 010
— LGC SPRING BOYS: reflection
When it came down to offering a reflection, Seojin's tendency to joke, speak casually, and inability to take much seriously shifted completely. Even that strong Gyeongsang dialect of his retreated into something more formal and concise. He recalled Hyuncheol's words. The company dedicated a large amount of time and resources into this project and any trainee ( or debuted actor and model ) would be a fool to take it for granted. Perhaps the addition of a number of stressful situations in his personal life piled on top of his career choice finally culminated and nearly managed to crush him. When not among the other trainees, he simmered down in this formal setting.
"I wannaㅡ I want to start by commenting that I'm seriously thankful for being granted with the role of subleader. It's a huge responsibility, and I definitely didn't take it for granted. It did a lot to help me keep my head on my shoulders, and make sure the other members could do the same. I commented before, I want to be someone reliable... someone that the younger trainees can look up to and come to for advice or help without hesitation or feeling scared to speak up. When Akio and Baekhyun came to me for advice or Byeongkwan needed to regain focus, it's when I really felt like 'oh, so this is real'. It was a great opportunity for me to explore and I liked it a lot, especially seeing everyone do so well afterwards. It wasn't easy. It never is dealing with other people, different views and working methods. But that conflict or those confrontations of where we could just strive to be better are necessary for us to work as a cohesive unit. A team... and the result just makes me beam with pride. It made me think that I could continue in a role like this. So, for that, I'm incredibly grateful that I got to do so... and I hope I did well helping Sanghyun out with his own larger role overall. I think we worked well together and he looked after me, too, when things were getting tough. There's still a lot I can improve and learn from."
He continued on with his reflection; albeit it was now teetering on a ramble. "I really enjoyed getting to know more of the guys and there were a lot of opportunities to. It got a little chaotic there but nothing I can't handle, right? I was also glad to see Jaesun and Yeonwoo but this time as celebrities. Having known them both for a while, it was kinda surreal to see them on a show like this." A smile bloomed on his face. He found the classroom setting especially fun, a good practice for when he goes on Knowing Brothers someday. Whenever that could be. "I just wish I could have teased all of the hosts a bit more. I was having fun, even if I was getting the wrong answers but going to Everland is a pretty good deal. Oh, and Alex needs to work on his rock paper scissors skills." He shot a playful gesture of finger guns.
"The thing is, I'm very competitive, in the end. It probably came through during the most during laser tag." Seojin laughed, seemingly amused by his own actions during the activity. He certainly treated it with passion. "I really wanted to win and there's this huge part of me that is super satisfied that we did. I hope Tee is thankful that the team brought honor to his name. Corporal Park made a reappearance on the battlefield." He gave a firm salute at his temple. "Plus, the bamboo festival was really fun and I enjoyed catching fish. It was really beautiful. Also, I'm into carving lately... so I paid for some to take home to practice on."
"And. Ah... The performances, though. I can't forget to talk about that." He glanced off to the side, slowly breaking into a bashful grin. He clapped his hands together. "The songs! I think that they fit the theme of spring well. Upbeat and refreshing. I'm... Well, my image isn't exactly a 'fresh' one, to put it lightly. I had a hard time adapting to it, like usual. I guess I've got more of a tsundere image, as it's called? Something sharp and playful... but I was able to show that I'm not just restricted to one box and that I have the ability to be more versatile." He chuckled, and grimaced at the replay of his own image in his head. "Usually I'm not into such bright songs, though, since I feel I don't particularly fit them... I actually really liked Do It Like This. It looked really fun and I'd love to do a concept like that. My good friend Noeul was in that song, so I'm a bit jealous. That song and LO$ER=LO♡ER were by far my favorites despite not being in those units."
Seojin hummed in contemplation. He was uncertain whether or not he should be completely honest or if a more diplomatic wording would be proper route. "The only thing is, I wish I could have gotten to show my vocal skills more... I feel I haven't yet had the chance to display that to the public yet. That's the only thing that felt disappointing for me. So I can only hope to do so more in the future and show myself as a capable vocalist." He spoke with a gentle certainty, a sincere glint simmers in his eye and small upturn of his lips brighten his face. The assertive and animated Seojin had taken a break to calmly explain his perspective on something he possessed so much passion for.
"I'll end this off by saying... I know because of how many other members there are, it would be difficult to organize and schedule everything but the fans and company will be satisfied with the result. I'm just happy to be able to be here. I'm so grateful to have even been given the chance. Seriously."

Alright, now im kinda interested in that merchant daugther x aegon Story lol. How did lt end etc..
And with led on you mean thar that girl was leading him on, or his feelings for abby?
To me personally aegon seems to have been infatuated with that girl but considering all of his issues it was just that, a superficial infatuation, a crush that he would like to expand into love, if only to escape his problems. And as you said, if it werent for all his issues then he COULD maybe fall for her, but that did not happen to me. Also because if he did love her, he would also have his firs heartbreak to deal with, that can take a very very long time to heal from.
So yeah, to me it seems like he did WANT to love her, and that he did like her,but that the reasons he wanted to fall in love with her (distraction etc) were flawed, and that he could not develop deeper feelings than a cute little crush that did not last.
Feel free to tell me if that Interpretation is compeletely lost lol
LOL Well, I do have an AU where Abby lived in the Westerlands with her grandfather at Castamere so the Abrogon isn't the childhood sweetheartds/friends thing. I'm sure that could be part of the story! (it lives in the back of my mind because it's not like Maiden is a big enough project LOL)
The lead on was the girl leading him on. She saw an advantage at hooking up with a prince, Aegon's young and dumb and doesn't realize the risks there because whose gonna touch him? He's the prince.
I LOVE hearing your interpretation of what I've written! This particular moment is one of those things that I encourage and leave up for interpretation! There are some things I write where I will take you by the hand and try explain how you should be seeing particular events. There's a lot of other things where I welcome the open interpretation much like how I enjoy reading books and watching shows that don't hold my hand all the time.
I think this insight is really a good view of Aegon's character and the situation at hand. I view love as something altruistic: I want to be in a world with you side by side and I want to make you happy kind of thing, not a I'm sad and I need someone to distract me/make me feel better.
Like what feelings would have developed there? fondness, certainly, and care, but also there's their difference in station, massive power imbalance. What kind of relationship and feeling could truly have been had? And I think for Aegon to be able to love, to truly love, he has to do a lot of self searching and understanding, exactly like you're saying.
And that's something I really hoped I've conveyed in the last few chapters of Maiden when it comes to him being able to see Abby as HERSELF. So those deeper feelings can develop.

What's Love Got To Do With It? (2023)
"Zoe decides to film her neighbour's journey from London to Lahore, where he is to marry the woman of his parents' choice. Zoe experiences a different approach to finding love."
This is a film with an ending I predicted from the moment I saw the trailer for the first time, as I'm sure did many, many, people. Often an ending as obvious as this one can ruin the ability to be enveloped by the story, but not this time. This is a film that is far less about the outcome than it is about the journey to that outcome. Knowing where you are going doesn't always mean you know exactly how you're going to get there.
Throughout this movie the main characters, Lily James as Zoe and Shazad Latif as Kazim, face their fair share of twists and turns and, while Kazim's path appears smoother than Zoe's, they both experience a solid amount of personal growth...right up to the inevitable final moment.
Shazad's Kazim is an upstanding member of society, an oncology doctor that has to hide the fact he smokes and drinks from his Muslim family. Shazad turns in an admirable performance of a man taking a step in a direction he, at first, isn't fully sure about. He gives Kazim an air of assurance that makes you want to trust him, yet know for sure that he is genuine. Watching Shazad navigate Kazim through the cultural milestones on his journey was certainly an experience I am looking forward to watching again.
Lily James, as Zoe, is an award winning documentary film-maker and an archetypal modern single woman. She is living her life how she wants and James rides the ups and downs of Zoe's life smoothly, despite the bumps in her road. James' body language and facial expressions, while filming Kazim on his journey to an assisted marriage, reveal so much about who she is and how she legitimately feels, and it takes a performer of great skill to really pull that off as well as she does. I've been a fan of hers for many years, and this has only solidified that.
Shabana Azmi and Emma Thompson, the mothers of the two main characters, are both utterly delightful. Their interactions and clear friendship are really on point. Despite living next door to each other they live, as Kazim says to Zoe, on different continents, and yet they seem almost as close as sisters. I have always loved Emma, but as far as I know this is my first experience of Shabana on the big screen, and I sincerely hope it's not my last.
One thing that always fascinates me is the experience of seeing other cultures represented in film. To be able to view cultures that I am not a part of is a privilege that I do not take for granted, and the director, Shekhar Kapur, gave me so much to appreciate in this film. The detail of the costumes and the vibrancy, and joy, of the ceremony and party in Lahore is simply outstanding, and I am grateful that it was shown with as much love and respect as it was.
My only gripe, and in the overall scheme of the movie it is minor, is with some of the choices of angles for some of the shots. In just a few scenes the camera was angled so that it looked as if the screen itself was tipping forward. It doesn't take away from the story at all but, and I'm not sure why, it made me feel a little nauseated in those moments. It's a real shame as well because other than that, and as romcoms go, this is a really solid movie.
Overall I really enjoyed this film. I walked in firmly knowing how it was going to end, and I was swept up on a journey to the finale. Is it the best romcom ever? There is a very saturated market, with some truly awesome films, so I have to say no. Is it a film I'm legitimately considering adding to my bluray collection? Absolutely. It's getting a 7.5/10, that would have been an 8 except for that camera angle thing. I'd recommend to most, but if romcoms are your thing, then definitely give it a go.

"I wasn't implying that you get rid of any of your cars, honey. In fact, I think we should consider having a garage built for them wherever we decide to buy land." The largest--and most impressive--garage was at the Malibu mansion. She loved that property, the gorgeous view over the ocean, the modern aesthetic and architectural beauty. How it seemed to surpass and defy every builder's expectations and objections. The house was symbolic of Tony's sheer dedication to make the impossible, possible. It was something to admire. She doesn't doubt he'll put forth the same effort into their forever home.
"You're assuming there will be only one child..." a sly smirk then slips onto her features. "Twins run in my family..." granted, she isn't a twin, and neither are any of her siblings, but she has relatives who are either identical or fraternal twins. It's a possibility. Slim, but not nonexistent. Something to keep in mind. Or to hope for.
Pepper glances around the street while continuing their walk, now in the direction of their new choice in eatery. She's happy to see his spirits lifted. He's been in such a funk lately, and not that she can blame him. They're both still coping and adjusting to the world around them. But even with a baby on the way, she wonders if it'll be enough to sustain that spark inside him. It will certainly keep them busy. And perhaps that's exactly what they need, a never-ending distraction.
"This will probably be the last time I indulge for a while..." and by no means is she indicating that she intends to binge drink the night away. Not her style. But she does enjoy the occasional glass of wine, and martini. "I might crave certain drinks... you may be putting your mixology skills to the test or running to the nearest bar and ordering a virgin version of something fruity for me. Like a pina colada mocktail." She smiles, imagining such a thing. Though, when it comes to pregnancy cravings, bizarre combinations of food often outweigh the need for non-alcoholic drinks.
"I'm going to be quite demanding... think you can handle that?" As they near the Polo bar, she leans in and presses a kiss just below his ear. "I may even crave you more than I do now."
@mr-tony-stark
Tony nodded enthusiastically. He wanted to be there. He wanted to hear the news straight from the doctor's mouth. He had questions and he wanted to plan out how they would do this as soon as he knew what the doctor thought. "Yeah. I'll be there. Just tell me when."
Tony knew Pepper was joking about the minivan. He knew that she knew that the mere mention of such a horrible car would have him vehemently reject the idea. He looked at her deadpan. "How dare you!?" he deadpanned. "How dare you suggest such a thing. I never want to hear the words mini or van in that order coming out of your mouth ever again!"
He bit back a laugh and threw his arm around her shoulder, tugging her down and pressing a kiss to her temple. "So I'm not getting rid of any of the sports cars. But I'm sure I can find something family friendly. We're only talking one kid. We don't need a seven seater. But even if that's what you do want, Audi makes one."
Tony nods again and gets out his phone. "Yeah, I'm sure. Don't worry. I plan to celebrate when we get home. But I picked a diner because I wasn't really feeling up for going out-out. But I am now."
That was Tony's round about way of saying he picked the diner because it was a depression meal. He didn't really need to worry about how he looked at the diner, and he could eat his comfort food. Now he was so amped up, he wanted to really have a dinner out with Pepper. He wanted to celebrate with her.
He looked up the Polo Bar's number and made the call to see if he could get a table. He was sure he'd be able to. But he had moved past the time of his life where he just walked into places and made them make room for him.

Hi! You're much more knowledgeable about Star Wars lore/canon than I am (I have yet to read any novels, most of what I know is what I've seen in Rebels and the movies) so I was hoping you might be able to answer this 😅
I know Anakin has a really high midi-chlorian count, and from my understanding, that leads to him feeling and engaging with the force in a way that's different and more than most other force sensitives. In a lot of the fics I've read, at times Anakin is described as being overwhelmed by the intensity of the force around him. As someone with a sensory disorder, I see this as being similar to a kind of (force related) sensory overload. Is it canon that Anakin can be overwhelmed or is that just an idea that a lot of people decided to work into their stories? If it isn't canon, what are your thoughts about it? (Whether or not it's canon doesn't bother me in any way, I'm honestly just curious about it!! 😅)
Hi! This isn't something that's ever come up or been implied in the movies or the TV series, there's no indication that Anakin is overwhelmed by the intensity of his connection to the Force in canon (movies+TCW), he never seems to struggle with it being too much, instead he seems pretty comfortable in his power and it never distracts him or anything. His issues are the ones we all face--that it's hard and scary to really understand yourself and to look at the ugly parts of yourself and change them. That he doesn’t really want to let go of the things he needs to, when it’s their time, that he’s so unwilling to do it that he’d make a deal with the devil to stop it. I believe there are some books in Legends that have Anakin being overwhelmed by his connection to the Force (I want to say Rogue Planet?) so it's not that it's a totally fanon concept--aside from that the EU was never part of Lucas' world, it was its own separate world, one that is valuable for its own sake, but often took liberties with the worldbuilding that never quite fully meshed with the original foundations, in my opinion (not an inherently bad thing by any means! often times those liberties produced some really cool things!)--but it's not exactly a hard foundational aspect of the character or worldbuilding, either. Personally, I’m mixed about it. I dislike when it’s used as a bludgeon against the Jedi, because it’s not how Lucas saw Anakin’s connection, that the themes of Anakin’s fall were about his greed for more, more more, to forcibly possess the people he wanted to keep, that he wanted the galaxy to operate the way that he wanted, even when that meant forcing other people. Having Anakin’s connection to the Force being overwhelming and that leading to his troubles is overwriting the foundational themes of the story, which is what I’m wary of. But I can very much enjoy it when it’s used as an exploration of Anakin’s character while keeping his themes intact, because it’s potentially really interesting! I think you have to step very fast and light to weave it together with the Anakin we see on the screen, who doesn’t seem to have any issues with this or work any differently than any other Jedi’s connection, just that he can do things more easily, like a naturally gifted athlete or naturally gifted at engineering and mechanics, but if someone wants to explore a sensory issue with a character, I think that’s absolutely fantastic. I think it can be used really well to make Anakin sympathetic, the idea that he often feels like the entire world is screaming at him, certainly I view Anakin through the lens of him having screaming anxiety and that that makes it harder for him to let go, because when you’re constantly terrified and have been all your life (I say, slowly raising my hand) you really, really want to hold on to everything because you feel helpless and its a way of exerting control over the things and people you love. Anakin having an overwhelming connection to the Force can be fascinating in a similar vein, because it’s hard to work around that kind of thing, it’s hard to know that this is something you’ll have to deal with all your life, it’s hard not to let it become an excuse, it’s hard to have your brain feel like its on fire all the time and feel like you’re slogging uphill because you have to do all this hard work to help you cope, when you just want someone to tell you that it’s fine to lean into the screaming hot mess of it all and just do what you want and you’re more special than anyone else because of it. I don’t see it as foundational to the bigger themes of Star Wars or Anakin’s character as a whole, I don’t think you reasonably expect that others must take it into consideration as SW fans, but I see a ton of value in exploring it as a character piece for him!

Of course this is totally optional (feel free to ignore this) but I’m pretty curious as to why you don’t like Vander. Personally I feel similarly to you i think? He’s not a fave but I don’t think he’s a bad guy, but I’m unable to articulate why exactly I don’t like him if that makes sense. Was hoping your views may resonate a bit? Idk
I'll give it a go!
Let me disclaimer this though because I really can't be bothered to fight with anyone. This is just my personal opinion and analysis. More than happy to be proved wrong when season 2 comes out if they end up expanding more on Vander's history, but at the moment I'm pretty set in my opinion of him.
I don't hate Vander. Nor do I think he's a bad character. I enjoy reading him in fics, and I'm certain I'll write him in future ones. He just isn't my favourite, and he irritates me at times.
I think the easiest way of explaining why I'm not a huge fan lies in one question
"Are you a good man?"
Vander and Silco share a lot of similarities. Both shown to be violent. Not above using threats or force to get their way. Both with long and complicated histories full of questionable deeds.
However.
If you asked Silco whether he considers himself to be a good man, I believe he'd say "No."
And yet, if you put the same question to Vander, it's my belief that he'd say "Yes."
And therein lies my issue with him.
I tend to find people and characters with hero complexes very tedious. Just my personal taste. And I sort of feel like Vander has one.
He whole-heartedly believes he's the good guy. And that bugs me. I kinda just wanna tell him to get over himself.
Vander always thinks that Vander is right.
And therefore, anyone who doesn't share his exact way of thinking is the enemy. He has blinkered vision, and an inability to think beyond tomorrow, or his immediate vicinity. As long as everything is okay in Vander's world [i.e the Lanes and his friends & family], he's content to forget the rest.
But see the thing is, the Undercity is bigger than just the Lanes. The Lanes is just a small section of the city. And more people live down there than just Vander's mates. So what about them? You have to be besties with Vander to qualify for protection?
Silco fights for Zaun.
Vander fights for Vander.
Which isn't my issue. I love villains. I love morally-grey and imperfect characters. I don't mind if a character has selfish motives or questionable drives. My issue isn't with Vander's actions or his goals, but rather his attitude and general opinion of himself.
If Vander wants to fight for Vander then go ahead my guy. But don't act so damn noble about it.
He likes to think of himself as this big, upstanding hero type. When he's actually no better than Silco. You could even argue he's no better than Piltover. He looks out for his own, and is content to ignore the rest.
I've seen some people comparing the two versions of Zaun between Act 1 and 2 under the different leadership.
It's true, under Vander the Lanes had a safer, more community-type feel to it. However, as I said before, the Undercity is bigger than just the Lanes. And a ✨#cosy-vibe UwU💕is pretty useless when the majority of people are starving and oppressed. Barely surviving and in no way thriving. Vander doesn't really concern himself with the well-being of Zaun as a whole.
I'm not saying Silco's reign is perfect either. The Undercity certainly doesn't feel as safe under his watch, and I'm not ignoring the drug problem [though this a whole other topic]. But aren't these issues that naturally occur alongside industrial progress? London has a lot more crime etc going on than a smaller, less advanced city for example. But despite this, Silco's leadership undoubtedly benefits the greatest amount of people. There are huge advances in technology, health, trade, business, and infrastructure. He literally makes the air safer to breathe. Silco advocates for Zaun as a whole.
But I digress. This isn't about who is a better leader. This is about Vander thinking he's this big, brave, gallant knight in shining armour because he rescued the princess, even though he left the village to be burned by the dragon.
So yeah, I guess those are my thoughts.
My issues with characters don't tend to stem from their actions, but rather their opinions of themselves.
It's kinda like when someone thinks they're a really nice person because they're kind to their friends and family even though they're a complete prick to the waiter at a restaurant. Yeah that really annoys me.

A previous anon mentioned how he couldn’t go through with the choice and I’m not sure I can either 😭 This is in no way a critique of your writing or anything! I absolutely love your stories! I think you are a fantastic writer and it’s good to have a clear cut vision for your game! ❤️
As I sometimes project my own emotions to the game I was always imagining my hunter to be someone who hunts supernaturals but is different in that he respects them, sees them as equals and offers them a fair choice which others don’t do. Still, they like being human and seeing how supernaturals are mostly treated in the world and discriminated, he wouldn’t want to be one. This would ruin them pretty bad mentally and they would likely develop severe depression. Facing their parents again would be a real problem.
This is just my subjective reason why I can’t go through with it because faced with this choice I would say no to both of them. So please no hate just my own reasons! I totally understand people that find it an awesome choice
Like I've said in my response to other asks, if you aren't vibing with the story anymore, that's totally valid. I absolutely encourage you (and anyone else who feels the same) to take a step back and stop reading if Wolfsbane is no longer something that sparks joy at any time and for any reason; and I'm sorry it didn't end up being the kind of story you hoped for
I do think it's important to remember when reading that, despite certain aspects being able to be influenced or customised by the reader, the MC is still a character who functions as part of the story and has certain immutable traits. Interactive fiction is of course meant to be immersive, and I understand the instinct to view the MC as an OC or self insert, but rather than the reader deciding what they would do in a given situation, it's the reader influencing the decisions of one of the characters within the story.
I've mentioned before how certain things would be out of character for the MC, and I stand by that. In this case, the MC just isn't someone who would refuse both choices and let themself die. Whether that's from a desire to keep on living at any cost or a refusal to leave Garamond alone and grieving, the reasoning behind the choice might change, but the choice itself never will. That's not who the MC of Wolfsbane is.
Ultimately I would encourage anyone who's willing to give the choice a chance, just to see how things play out. While dealing with turning will certainly involve difficulties, neither the MC nor the reader know yet what exactly to expect and what all will change. It's true that being a supernatural in the human world can be difficult and dangerous, but the MC is no longer confined to the human world either, and I think that while loss is an important aspect to consider, so is opportunity.
If that's something you have no interest in though and would prefer to just stop, then that's fine as well. The point of reading IF is to have fun, after all.
This isn't all necessarily aimed at you specifically, anon, I just think it's worth discussing in case others may be feeling similarly. I appreciate your understanding regarding my decisions while writing the game, even if they aren't decisions you would make yourself, and I understand your decision as well. Thank you for the feedback and I hope you're able to continue enjoying my other works 🧡
#leftski answers#wolfsbane spoilers#I've noticed a lot of people treating the MC turning as though it's a tragedy/death sentence that just ruins everything#and while it definitely is meant to be a major event that will have significant ramifications#I find it a bit premature to decide that everything going forward definitely will be terrible and an exercise in misery#but again if those are your feelings and you don't want to engage with the story anymore#that's totally valid#I know it's a very different experience to read a story bit by bit vs having the next idea in mind already#it's just surprising to me that the takeaway would be so severe#this probably comes back to the whole love of monsters thing from earlier#but I like the idea of the MC having the opportunity to change their perspective and grow#anyway I'm rambling now#thank you for being so kind though I appreciate it <3

Of lot of blogs are saying book fans wouldn’t like the show, what do you think about that?
Well, when I like to think of show vs books in any context I'm always reminded of my copy of Good Omens. It's held together by tape, sticky notes, and a whole lot of hope. At this point, the annotations have annotations. That book has traveled with me no matter where I live, no matter what country I'm in and it's gotten me through some very difficult times. The book feels personal to me in a very concrete way and despite the literal ink I've spilled on its pages I would never give it up. I viewed the book as the ultimate form of the story of Good Omens.
So when the Amazon series came out, I saw every divergence from the book, every slight change or adjustment as some sort of perversion of a book I loved.
But that's exactly the problem. I saw the book to tv show transition as a process that should be a direct copy. But it's always going to be about adaptation.
The definition of adaptation is as follows:
a composition rewritten into a new form
And that's what I really had to keep in mind when I watched Good Omens. That this is an adaptation. It is meant to be taking the original composition and putting it into a new form. When creating Good Omens, Neil Gaiman even said he changed the ending on purpose so book fans wouldn't get cocky. Adaptations change things but they also bring new things into the universe that can be wonderful benefits. For example, the whole scene with hellfire and holy water in Good Omens was really great to me and it was never in the original book.
And it's the same way with The Witcher.
The Witcher is adapting a series of books. Each episode is not equivalent to a chapter and there's going to be a lot of changes. Some of them I have thought was certainly for the better, Triss and Geralt don't get together in the show like they do in the books. Other changes I was not a fan of, like Tissaia and Vilgefortz together. But overall, I really enjoy the show, changes and all. Because it's adapting a book series I love, and of course, the book series isn't perfectly going to fit whatever the show puts out but the show is adding more to the rich world of The Witcher.
I especially love those moments in the show when I can sort of point at the TV and go "wait! I know this from the books" and get excited about that. And to go back to Neil Gaimen, he specifically changed a big plot point in the books just so fans would have something fresh to chew on and I love that mentality.
When the Witcher changes large plot points such as having Yennefer be the secret hero of Sodden and Vilgefortz stealing the credit instead of Vilgefortz simply being the hero it gives me a sense of excitement like reading all the things that might have happened but never did. If the show was exactly like the books, I would get bored. Because the books still exist and won't be changed by the show. If I want to read them, they are right there. If I want to watch the show, along with all the changes it has made, it's also right there.
Because at the end of the day, you can read the books and enjoy those alone. You can watch the show and just the show. You can join me in my camp of loving both the books and show.
I see problems in the books.
I see problems in the show.
But I also get a lot of enjoyment out of both of them. I appreciate the adaptation for what it brings to the table that is new and unique and I love the original books for creating the very world the show is playing around in.
I think that many book fans do enjoy the show, I'm certainly one of them. I also think a lot of people, like I once did, see the changes the show makes as some sort of personal attack on a book series they love. But like me with my battered copy of Good Omens learning to appreciate the show for all the things it gave us, maybe we can all learn to appreciate some of the great things The Witcher on Netflix has brought us too!
Ask me things
#the fandom grew so big because of the show and a lot of people read the books after the show too#asks#anon#the witcher#twn#the witcher books#books vs show

See, that previous ask is exactly what this anon was talking about. That person doesn't like Mikan, so they either hold her responsible for what she did while brainwashed, or outright make up stuff that never happened (like you said, the story never used her past to justify anything bad). When anon said that fans don't make principled judgments, just decide who they like and who they don't like and then decide morality based on that, that previous ask is what anon was talking about.
IT'S THE MIKAN TSUMIKI QUINTUPLE-ASK EVENT!
Note: This first ask is a reaction to this previous ask. And actually, the last two asks at the end of this post are replying to that post, too.
And I can't say for sure whether that person was actually some kind of "Mikan Anti" or whatever, but it does read that way. Of course anyone is entitled to dislike whoever they want... but let's not kid ourselves about the who the actual villain is here.
Or, as this anon put it:
Exaaaactly.
And there's ANOTHER anon who has thoughts on the matter of Mikan Tsumiki being "annoying" or not.
I certainly hope not. Although... they're entitled to still find such a person "annoying," I suppose, so long as they don't lose sympathy for those people/actively hurt those people, y'know? Like, I can find someone "annoying" without actually trying to drive them away from me, because I'm capable of discerning between my gut feelings and my conscious knowledge/thoughts. So even if someone may feel awkward and "annoyed" by a person who's been reduced to a quivering mess due to their years of suffering, I'd only ask that said' "someone" not give that kind of person any additional emotional baggage by trying to brutally reject them or ghost them, y'know? Just... be gentle with them, please.
And that's an interesting statement you make there about people viewing some things in fiction the opposite of how they see them in real life. I think I tend to see things in fiction pretty similarly to how I see things in reality, although I'm probably more forgiving in reality than I am in fiction. Because in reality, people tend to be far more complex than fictional characters. After all, we're not following a fictional character throughout every single step of their days - most of those moments don't even exist. They're defined only by the moments they're written in, whereas I can be more forgiving of someone in reality when I remember there are "off-screen" details in their life that I are not privy to.
She does nervously admit at one point that she enjoys the feeling of taking care of someone who is reliant upon her partly because it gives her a sense of control and power. And given how powerless and out-of-control she usually feels, I can see why that kind of thing gives her a high. I can't really fault her.
And as for the other thing... yeah, ok, I did forget about that moment where she suggests that. At least she backpedals on it almost IMMEDIATELY.
Even so, perhaps I should've said she's pure of heart. .... Even if she isn't pure of mind, because there's some obvious damage there.
