ISTG this game is making me insane, brainrot strong enough for me to make my first analysis post

One thing i love about the narrative is how distorted the characters, relationships and events are from jimmy's pov. Most posts discussing this focus on Anya, and it makes sense bc she's probably the biggest victim of this. She's seen as less than a person, she's an incompetent nurse, she has a meek personality, she'll let anyone(jimmy) step over her and she still follows his orders, despite everything he has done to her. We obviously see, from curly's pov, that she's simply too terrified of her abuser to act any other way, and when she's not with him she's way more confident and competent.

I haven't seen as many people talking about how this "distortion" affects Swansea and Daisuke as well, including the relationship they have with each other.

We see, in the first Curly section, that Swansea is a great mentor to Daisuke (one might even say they have a father-son/uncle-nephew relationship). He takes his time to teach him not just the basics, but also how to do his job as safely as possible. He lets him take notes, he himself writes stuff down for him to remember and even lets him doodle on those notes! Sure he is harsh with him, but he clearly cares about him and wants him to be safe.

And in return Daisuke looks up to him and has great respect for him, as both a mechanic and a man, while he also makes some jokingly offensive comments towards the older man, showing the close bond they have formed.

But that's not what we see when we play as Jimmy.

In his pov we don't see them interacting much, when they do we either see Swansea insulting Daisuke for no apparent reason or, in one occasion, we see him leading the kid down a "bad path" wanting to teach him how to "drink like a man".

When they aren't interacting tho, we do see hints of their actual relationship: Swansea asking where the kid is when he is "partying" in the lounge, confirming that he does not, in fact, hate spending time with him; him looking desperately for something, *anything*, that could help Daisuke with his suffering after he's injured; how whenever Jimmy tries to bring up to Daisuke how "badly" Swansea treats him, or how he "lied" to them about the utility room, Daisuke immediately shuts him down, because he knows what he's saying is completely wrong (i'm pretty sure those are the only times he doubts something Jimmy says), showing once again the trust and respect he has for his mentor.

(this part is kinda speculative but i think it makes sense)

There are two other times where we see them interacting, where we actually see how much Swansea cares for the kid, and coincidentally, neither of them is seen through Jimmy's eyes, but from a third person pov: what Swansea says right before they knock him out with the drink, about how he resents the people that let Daisuke, someone with his whole life ahead of him, with so much optimism and joy, board the ship for a job that would inevitably leave him "mangled" and "smarter in a worse way" (i could make a whole other essay on this part but i won't), and what he says right before mercy killing him. In that scene specifically, as the camera pans out in the corridor as Swansea raises his axe, ready to take the final swing, Jimmy doesn't see the hesitation in his body language, the way his body tenses, the way he comforts the kid, telling him to close his eyes, the heavy breaths (crying?maybe?) right after the act. He only sees the older man as a monster that would take away an innocent life that jimmy would have been able to fix had he been given the time to fucking think.

Hell, now that i think about it, Swansea's final monologue, where we find out that he is in fact a good man who tried his best to better himself, who simply wanted to protect the kid and give him "a chance off this goddamn rock"(implying that the Cryopod was meant for Daisuke all along) is also shown in third person!

A few other things i found interesting:

1-The missing pieces between what happened to Daisuke in the vent and when Swansea started attacking Jimmy. There's a cut from when Daisuke screams to when he's laying on (Swansea's) bed, bloody and in pain; from when Jimmy uses the mouthwash to disinfect him (which only causes him to suffer more) and two hours later; from after the talk the two men have and the moment Jimmy decides to go find the gun, the axe gone from Daisuke's face. What happened in those missing scenes? Was Swansea the one who helped the kid onto his bed, trying to make him as comfortable as possible? Did he try to comfort him, to distract him, and ease his pain as well as he could? What was his reaction when he had to take back the axe off the face of the young man he had started seeing as his own kid, whose life he had hoped he could save but that he ultimately had to take with his own hands?

I personally think those parts are blocked out of Jimmy's mind, as he couldn't fit them in his own narrative, where he was the hero, Swansea the villain and Daisuke the innocent, young man whose life he tried his best to protect from this "monster" that was now going to come after him.

2-Swansea attacking Jimmy with the axe, especially the cemetery scene, and how it can be interpreted in different ways.

We, the viewers, knowing everything that happened, will see it as a desperate man, Swansea, trying to avenge the lives that had been lost on that ship because of Jimmy (wether directly or not), with Daisuke's death being the last straw. But i don't think that's how Jimmy saw it. He saw swansea as a crazed, mad man, a ruthless killer, coming for him after taking an innocent life, Daisuke's photo and mausoleum as a reminder for Jimmy of what the older man had done, and a justification for what he was about to do.

(not to talk about the implication that the fight against swansea was not as intense as we saw it, only confirming the idea that jimmy was looking for a justification for shooting him)

from the beginning I LOVED the whole aspect of the role playing. It felt like a visual novel and I LOVE visual novels. If mcd becomes a game or book YES PLEASEEE

it was super interesting to learn more about Irene. In mystreet, we don’t really learn about her backstory so it was nice to learn about things that fit in the mystreet universe

100 episodes is A LOT and I thought fillers were fine. It definitely felt like a RPG game with all the tasks Aphmau had to do

okay so i have made it my life mission to flesh out a poly!werewolf au for every paring. we got lestappen werewolves x werewolf reader and we got grumpyxsunshine werewolf maxiel but like hear me out

carlando with werewolf!lando and reader with human carlos. inspired by the FINE man i saw to day with a giant doodle. like dog the size of a house istg.

anyways carlos is just walking around with wolfy lando looking fine af and lando is just feeling playful puppy energy and he always gets liek this when his wolf has been cooped up for too long. and this girl comes over to hit on carlos. like really forcefully, to the point where carlos is trying to use lando as a buffer between them so he still has some personal space. and lando, always the little shit, pulls all the stops. like he's giving big puppy eyes, letting her pet him, doing so many tricks partly because he like's seeing how bold she will get and watching carlos flounder and turn her down when she's clearly not getting the hint and partly because he know's reader is going to join them in a couple of minutes and he wants to see how this all goes down.

and what do you know in comes reader and the way her whole body language changse when she sees this girl cooing to her bf just how cute his dog is and how she's looking to adopt a doodle herself and hey say why doesn't she just give him her number so the two of them can meet over coffee to discuss more. and reader walks up with their little bag of breakfast bagels, hands carlos his coffee, and slips her hand in the back pocket of his jeans as carlos instinctively goes to wrap his arm around her waist and is like all like "oh my god, so nice meet you, i couldn't help but overhear, are you looking to adpot?" "oh well he's actually a rescue, MY boyfriend and i just saw him looking so sad and pathetic that we just had to take him in" (to which lando is liek EXCUSE YOU but whatev)

and lando, the menace, goes straight to reader, totally 180 ignores the other girl, and basically drapes himself all over reader to be loved on, as if to say, "yeah you thought you really had a chance, look at the pretty picture the three of us make"

and after the girl makes a hasty exit carlos tearing into lando, not caring if he looks INSANE for having an argument with a dog all "mate i do not know why you do this" and reader is just like "it's okay, he knows how much i like to play."

anways they go home and destory their sweet boy, carlos bc he's frustrated that lando always likes to be a brat and reader because she's feeling territorial

• I felt that on a spiritual level istg ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ It's understandable, and imo drawing for a different fandom is a good change of pace and helps avoid burnout since drawing the same fandom all the time could get tiresome, even if you would generally find it fun. (I get it, and I honestly admire your dedication to give the best you have for your works, so take your time with your projects, I know you're working hard and I think I speak for a lot of us when I say we'll never rush you to have anything finished and posted right away.)

• My take on inokana: They complement each other in many ways. Inosuke is very loud, and Kanao is very quiet, but they've both seen each other in the rare state where they're not. I feel like Inosuke could bring out a little immaturity in Kanao and that she could teach Inosuke a fraction of patience. Inosuke definitely has some form of appreciation for her skills and capabilities, and he'd definitely hold her in high regard in his own mountain king way. I don't know why, but a gut feeling tells me they'd agree on a lot of things for completely different reasons, and I suppose she'd humour him when he wants to go exploring in the forests because why not? Personal hc: they would've stayed by each other's side during recovery where Kanao would tell Inosuke more about Shinobu, and would also tell him the occult stories Shinobu always used to tell while Kanae covered her ears. Anyways yeah I care about them a lot. The bsd friend that suggested rengokunikida is a genius because it's so fitting. The immaculate coincidence of both of them getting impaled in the stomach by an immortal being WHILE SMILING AND LOOKING AT PEACE is too perfect.

1. What compliment you've received meant the most to you?

I don’t really believe people when they compliment me rip. Only a few months ago, one of my professors told me I wrote at Masters level during a private meeting and it made me smile for three hours straight. I’ve been considering a career in third-level teaching and research and I hadn’t told him this but he started telling me I would be perfect for it and it was really motivating ;-;

2. Would you rather meet your favourite celebrity/group/bias and realize they're not at all how you imagined them to be like (maybe they're not as kind as you thought, for example) or never meeting them in person but it turning out that they're actually the amazing, kind, sweet, generous, etc. person that you thought they were? (I hope that makes sense hhhh I think the ethics of this question are really interesting)

I’d rather not meet them and have them be lovely. I haven’t met them yet anyway and so I wouldn’t lose anything by not meeting them.

3. What's your current favourite song you always use to get hyped up to or a song currently stuck in your head?

4. If you had to write the book of your life, what genre would it be and what would you choose as a title?

I’d write it in the format of diary entries, very much a ‘slice of life’ type, with illustrations and doodles on the pages for metaphor and viewing pleasure. I think the title would be something simple too but with some depth to it, like a significant date in my life; almost like the ‘climax’ of the book, I could work the reader up to that entry and they would know something is coming up but not what 👀

If you were invited to a big humanitarian event and had to give a speech on a topic you'd want to bring about a huge change for the better, what topic would you choose to speak about and voice your opinions/ideas? (Assume public speaking is one of your strongest assets and you'll ace this no matter what)

Okay so this is literally one of my aspirations in life, no joke, I’d love to be able to speak to a crowd and try to inspire and motivate them to achieve great things! I just really want to see people succeed and realise their potential regardless of who they are :( There are so many topics I would like to address but I think I would go for mental health in development. I study international development so I’m very familiar with humanitarian issues but often times, mental health is ignored when looking at healthcare regardless of where you are in the world.

7. What is something (a skill, personality trait, or something appearance related, it can be whatever) you wish you had and/or you really admire in other people?

I really admire team-players in leadership. People who are genuinely concerned for those around them and want them all to succeed together. They don’t leave anyone behind and remind everyone of their strengths and what they contribute to the team and actively push them to succeed. I try to do the same but sometimes I can sometimes be a bit of a pushover and not strict enough, instead just taking on more work myself rather than trusting a team member to do it... group projects, anyone??? :’)

8. What's your favourite anime/show/youtuber (you can answer whichever you got an answer for, it can be all three options of course :D)?

I don’t watch anime anymore but I enjoyed Ouran High a lot!

I’m waiting for the new season of Line of Duty to come out soon, but my guilty pleasure TV show is Bondi Rescue dsjvkdhlvjhfb I’ve also been watching that new show Five Guys A Week with my mum recently and its such good craic omfg 

I tend to flock towards gaming and commentary channels most but Dashie is my fave istg there isn’t a video of his that I don’t wheeze along to 😂

9. In kpop, are you more into vocalists, dancers, rappers, maknaes, leaders, or visuals (or maybe a mix of some/all :'))?

I’ve noticed I like the rappers most!

10. What's your most beautiful/favourite memory?

This is hard...I literally had to answer this question last because I wanted to have a proper think about it. Its been hurting my head for days trying to think tbh and is it bad that I actually can’t pick a particular moment?.I’m genuinely stuck but a recent-ish one I can think of was this time last year when I had to give a presentation in front of my class of 250 people. I was presenting with two groupmates and I remember how hard we practiced and rehearsed for the days coming up to it. We wore coordinating outfits and had our lines memorised and I remember walking up on the stage and immediately feeling ‘powerful’. I don’t usually feel powerful at all but once I started speaking and performing our skit with my groupmates (who were lovely btw it made me really happy seeing the more nervous one do so well!), I seen how the faces of my classmates lit up and it gave me that warmth I had missed for so long. Random people I had never even spoke to before came up and complimented me later and it made me really proud because its what I love to do and it was so lovely knowing they enjoyed it too ;-; The lecturer we had for that class was known for being really intense but she took a shine to me and pulled me aside one of the days to compliment me and then referred to me as “her powerful speaker” in front of the class when we were receiving assignments back weeks later. It was the highlight of my whole semester and second year tbh. I’m really hard on myself but for once, I felt genuinely and I mean TRULY proud of myself and it had been a long ass time since I had felt that way 😭

In the middle of a lecture, growing bored you decided to just draw a heart in the back of his hand, he was holding a book and following the lecture so it was actually difficult finding a way to draw but then when he felt the pen in his skin he squealed a bit, getting really ticklish, I think he'd try to be quiet but he'd let out some giggles from time to time until you finished and then he stared at the back of his hand and smiled. -Ah, if I draw one in your hand as well... We'd have matching doodles!-

I think he'd definitely take a photo with it! Like, for real, in the middle of math class you suddenly drew a heart in his palm and he loved it, like he thought it was the best drawing of a heart he had seen ever and he'd instantly take out his phone -I need a memoir of this!- but... he had the flash on so the teacher took him out of the class... Still worth it tho. After getting out I think he’d be the type to think deeply about it too, considering the possibilities that you liked him too but would be too shy to actually ask if it had the meaning he thought it had.

This can go two ways, either he gets really blushy and overthinks a lot about the draw and lets you continue to fill his arm OR he would still overthink but would take out a notebook so you could continue drawing, not that he didn't like your closeness (cuz god, he actually loved it) but he was scared of what his mom would tell him when he came back filled with drawings in his arm lmfao. Either way, I think he'd definitely try and leave you little hints in your arms/on a notebook too about his crush on you and would probably become a habit between the two of you.

Be ready for another one that'd fill your arms too with drawings! You both were dozing off in the middle of literature so trying not to get lectured you tried to stay awake by drawing on his arm when suddenly he took your free arm and pulled it closer -Let's see who can draw more hearts in a minute!- about the meaning, I think he'd try to not to think deeply about it, scared that he may overthink things and get useless hope on you actually liking him, but he'd still check out your actions, even more, to see if there's any sign his feelings can be returned.

In the middle of a humanistic class, you got bored of hearing the same things so you suddenly took his arm and drew a cute little heart in one of his fingers but he was really quiet and so you decided to look back and he was just serious and not saying anything which made you think he was maybe mad because you just suddenly did so but then he spoke -What about my other fingers? They want a heart too- he pouted cutely and you had to laugh at that. He'd definitely love the feeling of your hand resting on top of his arm to draw, he won't probably question the hearts or even think deeply about it tbh.

So I watched Game of Thrones clips and got the idea to give Barriss three baby dragons because who doesn't love crossovers? And tiny fire breathing spawns of Satan?

And then an AU was born. And then I doodled Barriss and her new precious sons. Anddddd then I got thinking on my AU for Dragon!Anakin. And then I combined the two. Because I can. But then I realized that Anakin's being a dragon sort of conflicts with Barriss's dragon, so I changed it up a little (because technically speaking, the dragons in GoT are Wyverns if you want to be that person). And made a little comparison chart to show the differences and the fact that I have WAY too many headcanons.

Which then spawned a doodle of the one and only time Ahsoka let her giant fire breathing Master anywhere near Barriss's children. For obvious reasons. Alternative Title to this is now "Anakin and Barriss's relationship in a nutshell".

Factoids no one wants but you gonna get anyways Barriss's Dragons/Wyverns:

·         Acquired/born sometime between the start of the Clone Wars and Weapons Factory

·         First one was based off of Drogon from GoT. Then I got bored and based the second off a ram… thing, and the third off a Carnotaurus.

·         The Drogon-based one is the bravest; the Carnotaurus the most temperamental and snappish; the Ram is docile and calmest of the three.

·         The Ram is blind; he's babied a bit more than his brothers and can't properly hunt on his own.

·         They hiss and growl rather than roar.

·         They react in accordance to Barriss's emotions and mental state, along with her own personal feelings towards certain people. AKA if she hates you, you're going to get hissed at and probably set on fire.

·         Love their Mama; Mama is everything, Mama is their world.

·         Warm fire babies that torch EVERYTHING

·         DO NOT SEPARATE FROM MAMA

·         THINGS WILL BURN

·         THE GALAXY WILL BURN

·         But mostly Palps

·         So win-win tbh

Dragon!Anakin

·         Part of an old semi-extinct species of shapeshifters from an unknown region (be it from this galaxy or another); the type of dragon he's called is a "Peacock-Swan" because I suck at decisions. Snow white with an elegant long neck, and peacock tail feathers. Very luxurious dragon. Doesn't make him less of a chrome trashcan though.

·         Human form-dragon form; can shift interchangeably; dragon form does not occur until the age of 21 UNLESS the dragon in question has been taught/conditioned to shift between forms since birth (Shmi did not do so for Anakin/was most likely unaware or not even part of the species because ISTG if the Force can father Anakin, it can make him a dragon).

·         As such, Anakin did not experience the change between his forms/even the awareness of being a dragon until he was 21. He was on a mission off-Coruscant with Ahsoka at the time, luckily. Though not for her - scared the ever loving s*** out of her.

·         First transformation - akin to the werewolf. Very painful and unsettling, mind may not be intact (instinct takes over rationality and consciousness).  After the first initial shift, the body grows used to the change and the pain fades in time.

·         Larger but not than life - I drew Anakin HUGE but he's actually only a bit bigger than a Shire Horse.

·         Featherbutt - unlike the Wyverns, Anakin is covered in fur and feathers (see Floof, another Dragon!Anakin variant (I need a life))

·         Ahsoka totally takes advantage of Anakin's new form - I mean, come on, her master is now a huge fire breathing flying dragon, you don't think she isn't going to have fun with that?

·         Learning to fly - Anakin actually sucked at it and crashed. A lot.

·         Dragon Rider - Ahsoka learned to ride Anakin as a mount; HTTYD and Eragon style

·         Giant Dog, Vain Cat - Anakin, despite being a massive avian creature, is like a giant dog (at least around Ahsoka; to everyone else, he's literally Satan)

·         Protective - Force Forbid ANYONE have a go at Ahsoka now.

·         Hoarding problems - Anakin hoards droid parts from victorious battles he's won and ship pieces. The Temple is a mess. RIP the Order.

·         Snow White and the Three Trashcans - Anakin does not like Barriss's Wyverns. At all.
