"bad rep" doesn't mean "characters that are nuanced, morally gray, or just bad people." "bad rep" would be if helluva boss was a show that said "the REASON these characters are in toxic relationships / are bad people is BECAUSE they are queer, or at least directly correlated to that fact." which is. you know. very fucking different than "these characters are in toxic relationships / are bad people because they 1) live in a classist society that actively encourages them to be their worst selves and 2) are extremely traumatized."

So have you ever loved a fanfiction you read so much that you decided "hey let's make a fake book cover for it even though IT'S BEEN ABANDONED ON LIVEJOURNAL AND WAS NEVER COMPLETED AND LEFT ON A SOUL-SHATTERING CLIFFHANGER FOR 15 YEARS?"

Because I did, last night, out of a rose-tinted nostalgic rage 😮‍💨👌✨

During the peak of my Beatles special interest, there was a fanfic on LiveJournal called Pandemic by eleanorrigby_66 (shout out if you're still out there somewhere), and my god, it is a whirlwind of everything horrible that could possibly happen. It was like a mixed vibe of 28 Days Later, Crossed (don't read it), and sort of Flowers in the Attic? If you're a millennial, loved Bugs, and we're in the darkest corners of LJ, you might know about it.

The story is a huge ball of sadness, viscera, anguish, and depravity. It was like a brutal train wreck you couldn't look away from. If the names were flipped and it had some revisions, Istg, it could've been a published novel.

Anyway, this is based on a scene in the story where (get ready for this, wtf) John and Ringo are going high speed backwards in an ambulance escaping a hoard of infected in the middle of London. Ringo has a bat and there's an infected in the back of the ambulance, and while Ringo is swinging at it to knock it out the open back doors, the infected dude gashes open Ringo's hand with a knife. It gets crazier from there. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

All four of them go through so many unspeakable things, but it almost felt like the author had a vendetta towards George for a while, and then it changed to Ringo. Like omfg, calm down. 😰

I am cringe, and I am free. 🫡🌈

I think the whole 28 Days revival inspired this, tbh. The world's in flames with an uncertain future, so I'm getting looser with my artwork, screw it.
