3. Pavitr Prabhakar

He just debuted and he's already got several iconic one-liners under his belt. Banger suit redesign and FAWK Marvel for that first costume ‼️ It's really the curly fringe that does it for me like EATTT

4. Margo Kess

Idgaf she's literally goated. Had she gotten more screen time slhe would've been number 3 tbh. She's here to slay and found a way to stay her ass at home while being part of an elite Spider Squad. Women in stem

5. Jessica Drew

"But she's on Miguel's side!" And wrdgaf 🤣 she beats bitches up not just with webs but with A MOTORCYCLE!! And she's one of the only Spideys not masked Jessica is literally here to clock in, do her job, and clock out. She's #real I can't take that away from her. Bonus points for Issa Rae

I know. Look, I KNOW. But this is quite literally one of the most genius and thematically-coherent supervillain reveals I have ever seen in a superhero movie. HE WAS THE BAGEL GUY I WAS SO GAGGED! I left the theater and had to stare at a wall like this is excellent usage of pre-existing comic book characters to further one of the movie's messages, which is to not underestimate people!

7. Gwen Stacy

DONT GET MAD AT ME FOR PUTTING HER BELOW SPOT I CAN EXPLAIN

Okay look, she's cool. She's a punk that does ballet and she is part of the Hailee Steinfeld Cool Girl Industrial Complex. But she hasn't done anything that blows my mind yet and she clearly wasn't taking Hobie's advice like girl sjdlslk. I also doc points for pissing me off so sorry to her. On god we gon get you a girlfriend and some therapy as well 🙏🏾

8. Miguel O'Hara

Ohh brother this guy STINKS‼️ But they went sooo crazy w his character design shout out to Kris Anka. Bonus points for Oscar Isaac but minus points again for throwing a trash can at a high schooler. He only eats cafeteria food and has NO BITCHES! But upon reading about his character backstory ive decided that this guy is so unhinged and pathetic that it is now comical. Therefore I can't hate him. LEWSER

9. Peter B Parker

Sorry peepaw we're gonna have to put you down. At least Miguel can say that he has strong principles and believes in his own flimsy theory out of trauma. Miguel also doesn't really know Miles, , but Peter MENTORED HIM. Bro literally helped train living, breathing proof that anything was possible and that there was no "right" way for Spider-Man's story to go and he still let Miguel convince him otherwise. YOU HAVE A BABY THAT WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT MILES! Sir you may be a genius but you are not smart. Then he has the nerve to insult this kid's intelligence multiple times like don't piss me off. The betrayal puts him lower than Miguel because you've disappointed me peepaw 💔 and put a coat on that baby. I love him but he SUCKS

The ramen vendor waved at the pair as they held hands and began to walk back towards the school. "Try not to slip, and stay warm," he cautioned. Shinobu, meanwhile, was already thinking of what to say to Sonia, her mind occupied by the same question that left Sonia's lips after they passed some of the entertainment districts and crossed back over to the quiet, empty streets. "Mm... I wonder how much there is to say," they murmured, pursing their lips in thought. "Anzu explained some of it, it seemed like. Miss Uesugi grew up near enough my family's estate, and our families are rather alike in history and style, though it's fair to say that her own is more prestigious than mine."

Shinobu looked to Sonia, quietly studying her face, the slight red tint at her cheeks and nose from the cold more easily visible upon her fair skin, her features worked into a gentle expression that didn't seem to imply any pressure. She really was beautiful. Shinobu couldn't condone the way some of her hangers-on treated her, but certainly she could understand it, if jealousy was its root. With their free hand, the archer tapped at the side of their face. There wasn't any harm in explaining things to her, was there? If anyone could relate, on any level, to Shinobu's situation, wasn't Sonia the most obvious person to do so?

"I think Miss Uesugi internalized the idea at a young age of an 'acceptable partner,' and I fit the expectations. When we met, I wasn't set to inherit my family's dojo, either, so despite it being unconventional in Japan's family registry system, I could have married into her family without too much trouble." Even back then, Miss Uesugi was the type of woman with expectations, and if those expectations were not met, she would simply pretend that they were, to the detriment of whoever was unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire.

"We dated in middle school, for a time. It was before the..." Her voice trailed off, lips frowning, before she faintly gestured to her makeup, then her body in general. "Before this. I expected that she'd have no interest in me further after I informed her, and that we might break up because of it, but she was surprisingly understanding." Perhaps that was why she'd allowed things to get to the point that they did. Despite her myriad flaws, Miss Uesugi had been unfazed by the various confessions and explanations that Shinobu had given her. At the time, they must have thought that worth more than enough.

It was strange, to be so vulnerable or share so much, but Sonia was a relaxing presence. Shinobu had seldom seen her act in a cruel or judgmental manner, and they seemed aligned on a number of things. "In time, though, I came to see Miss Uesugi as less uniquely invested in me as a person than I would have hoped. There was a version of me she held close, cobbled together from memories of us as younger children, the expectations of a person in my position, and her own desires, that bore little resemblance to my actual person."

She let out a deep sigh, her breath visible in the cold winter air. "I found it strangely miserable to be seen only as a fantasy. Eventually, I shattered her heart so completely that I imagined she would never approach me again." Evidently, that hadn't worked. If again their paths crossed, without bystanders around, perhaps she'd need to try again. "It was unkind of me, but I suppose by now you're well-acquainted with the things people say about me, Miss Nevermind. How heartless and cold I can be, or how unfairly I treat the women who hold out to me their hearts."

Not in the way that Miss Aoyama did, and not in the way that a number of men did, but unfair and callous all the same. "Regrettably, I seem to have rambled," Shinobu murmured, hand still holding Sonia's own, desiring to warm the other girl's cold fingers. "I suppose I imagined you might be able to relate to some of it, though that's still no excuse for being so imprudent with my words." Such was the danger of being open about things, she thought, looking away from Sonia and resting her gaze on the distant horizon, where snowflakes faded out against the still-lit skyline. "That classmate of yours, the one who always gives off the unpleasant odor? It seemed to me his affection for you - a term I use rather loosely, in this instance - is rooted largely in your talent, and your background, rather than anything else, so I thought it might..." They shook their head. "Surely I'm overstepping my bounds as a friend. I'll refrain from such assumptions, Miss Nevermind."

Sonia knew too many girls exactly like Sakura. Maybe not with the same romantic preferences (or if they did, they weren't 'out' about it, and careful about their conduct at parties and other social events), but with the same priorities. A union that would appease their families and secure goodwill, their inheritances, or simply give them a constant air of superiority that they would surely pass to their offspring. But those girls turned into women, who complained about their spouses, their children, their entire lot in life despite having more resources at their disposal than 99% of the world's population. They could, in theory, do anything and be anything: instead, they shackled their life's worth to their family name and those associated with it. It was tragic really, though Sonia forced herself not to show her pity as Sakura playfully touched Shinobu's face, pushing her to make an appearance at an esteemed family gathering.

A different country, with thousands of kilometers between them, but it wasn't unlike dalliances back home. In that, Sakura was incorrect: this was all too familiar for Sonia, and something she didn't miss from Novoselic. Grimacing, it was enough to make the tea and ramen in her stomach turn a bit, too uncomfortable for her to even bother asking Anzu who Felicia was: it was Sakura who had left, not Felicia, whoever she was. "It is all right," Sonia assured her with a shake of her head, "She did not spoil anything." Made the evening awkward, yes, Sakura Uesugi had achieved that. But spoiling it, no, she didn't have that sort of power. Not if Sonia, and clearly Anzu, had something to say about it.

But that was all Anzu was going to speak on for the rest of the night, at least in Sonia and Shinobu's company. "Oof!" Sonia cried playfully, smiling as she gave Anzu a hug in return. "Well, you must see to those. Be careful getting to the theater and back to the school campus. The snow seems to be picking up. Telephone me if you need a car, okay?"

Sonia wasn't sure if her friend would actually heed her advice: it seemed that once Anzu had set her mind to something, she could not be deterred, even if her own health was at risk. Something Shinobu now seemed to have in common as her blazer was dropped onto Sonia's shoulders. Sonia's coat-covered shoulders. The tea Koga-san had given her had helped, but she still should've opted for a hat and gloves, at the very least. A glance from his smiling face to Shinobu's softened expression and Sonia knew she'd lost: making a scene simply wasn't possible, if she was going to remain polite and not further make the tension awkward between everyone. "Well, if you are sure, thank you Yaguchi-san," Sonia nodded as she got to her feet before smiling at Koga. "And thank you very much, Koga-san. The ramen and tea were most delicious and perfect for a chilly night such as this. I would very much like to come and see you again: I would love to hear how you learned and became so proficient in the art of ramen!"

She took Shinobu's hand, though a bit tentatively: her friend had seemingly been through a trial of emotions and patience, and being overbearing did not seem like the wisest choice. But again, she had offered: both her hand (still warm, still perfectly capable of covering her own to protect it from the snow) and the walk. Sonia's security detail would simply follow behind at a reasonable distance, hopefully. Or far enough for them not to try and read lips during the snowy journey back to the dormitories.

"Very well, I would very much enjoy your company on the way home," She agreed, casting her smile towards Shinobu. For the first block or two they walked side-by-side in silence, until the ramen cart and everything else was a safe distance away. Only then did Sonia glance up at Shinobu with a curious look. "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked gently. That way, if she were prying, Sonia could quickly dismiss it for another change of subject. "Or her, rather, Uesugi-san. I am happy to listen, if you would like to unburden your thoughts upon me."

Saturday, November 30 — SWYNRP Character Wishlist: A list of 10+ characters you’d like to see in the RP (for you to play or someone else!) 

I probably won't get any characters any time soon, even 9 is a lot for me and honestly I feel pretty good with the stories I'm already focusing on. But here's stuff that's been bouncing around my brain.

First up: Timon and Pumbaa!

I love these guys because they're comic relief but I also think there's something a bit sadder going on with them under the surface. "When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world!"

I like the idea of them as misfits who fled somewhere less Magick-friendly because of their magic (uhh open to interpretation) maybe they're on sort of a crazy road trip situation or something and their car broke down in Swynlake and they go on a journey of realizing this is where they want to belong.
