i also started watching american fiction in my ela class ummm i think the story had a lot of potential but its not. very good so far. its trying to fit like 2 or 3 different things into it and its like really confusing 😭 its also a drama comedy but its not very good at it. like its shot super well as a drama but then theres like a sudden funny joke and like. it is a funny joke but it feels so out of place that its distracting. like it starts with the actor plot (which is rlly interesting!!) but then its like. complete tone shift to the family drama plot and we loose track of the author plot and its just all over the place 😭 like its 2 diff movies in one... idk i feel like both movies individually are good but together its just like. confusing

i talked 2 my mom about it bc shes seen the whole thing and she mentioned how she didnt really know how to react with one plot because the there was suddenly the other plot for her to pay attention to. i mentioned to her how the comedy and the drama dont rlly go together and she agreed like. your movie doesnt have to be a comedy for it to be funny. the scene in the beginning w issa rae's character reading her book and jeffery wright's character is listening and it was funny!!! (the scene im talking abt is in the trailer btw if u wanna watch it) but like theres other scenes where they make jokes but its just like. so out of place?? like ok spoilers for the movie

so theres this scene where monk (jeffery wright)'s sister gets this pain in her arm (LITERALLY OUT OF NOWHERE my friend literally said like what is this a house md episode???) and just dies. and like. shes been in maybe 10 minutes of the movie. okay. and then when they read her eulogy or something its this very sad scene and theyr on a beach and its like. okay. funeral scene. and then like???? theres this joke she makes in her eulogy note thing like yeah i hope i died fucking idris elba. ⁉️⁉️⁉️ its so out of place and like. idkkkk idk. im gonna keep watching obv but idk. its an okay movie but just like. why is this a best picture nom. justice for iron claw

I totally agree with you on the whole ship thing in hero's new hero comic. I am also slightly pissed that it's nalu yet agian in the spotlight, not to mention lucy being ultra sexualized because of her big tits. I mean really mashima got anything better up your sleeve?.
