25. Fandom Sins
Remember when Unit Guides and Manuals were popular in the fandom? My god, I remember... Anyways, I wrote one or two of those and then I sent negative comments to someone else's Unit Guide and Manual fic lol

☀️Happy Wednesday! Here we are…Wednesday again!
What is 4W?
It is a weekly post where I recap my week in books! It originally was a WWW Wednesday Post that I’ve tweaked to make my own. I cover books that I’ve been reading, plan to read and what I’ve been reading to our preschool, usually highlighting a favorite picture book each week…
A few weeks ago I started a new reading goal that I’m super excited about, I’m reading all of the Newbery Winners! You will notice that in my selection of books, and you can find that Newbery post here.
Newbery Awards have been given out every year since 1922 and I have a ways to go!
I am about halfway through Secret of the Andes by Ann Nolan Clark, a Newbery winner in 1953. I am really enjoying this story of an Inca boy, Cusi and his pet llama Misti, who leave their home in the Andes to discover the truth of Cusi’s birth and uncovers secrets  of the past.
I am also reading The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw. I’ve just few chapters into to this book, but was surprised to read this story takes place along the Oregon Coast.
I  have read a handful of Newbery winners this week, starting with The White Stag(winner in 1938) by Kate Seredy. This book was of no interest to me at all and hard to work my way through, even for only being 100 pages. It’s a historical tale of the Huns and their migration from Asia into Europe, obeying the voices of their pagan gods and pursuing the vision of the White Stag. 🔥
Rabbit Hill(winner in 1945) was a much lighter story bringing to life all the woodland creatures near an unoccupied farm. The word is that new folks will be coming! Will they be pleasant farmers, or will they set traps for the animals and possibly arrive with a mouse-catching cat or a hunting dog?  These are the questions on the mind of all the neighboring animals. 🔥🔥🔥
Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Life’s From a Medieval Village(2008 winner) by Laura Amy Schlitz, is a collection of stories set in a medieval village in 1255. It was written for a group os students studying the Middle Ages by their librarian to help bring to light, what life would have been like if you were a child in this era. It is easy to read and would be a great tool for children studying this period. 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite Newbery read this past week was easily Island of the Blue Dolphins( winner in 1961) by Scott O’Dell. This is a story of a young Indian girl, Karana, left behind on one of the Channel Islands when her tribe decided to leave. The basis of this story is true and detailed out in the fascinating introduction. Karana survived alone for nearly twenty years on the island. Her adventures and animal encounters are amazing and beautiful for all ages.      🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My last two books for the week are The President is Missing by James Patterson and Bill Clinton. You can find my review on this book here. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥And also Last Stop On Market Street(winner 2016) by Matt De La Peña, with my review here. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This has been a fun week in books, I can feel myself getting excited for fall by the selection of stories I picked! Who doesn’t love Halloween? So it’s only August! 🤪 We’ve ordered our first Scholastic school order last week and our curriculum for next month.
My favorite book this week has to be Edward Gets Messy by Rita Meade. Edward is a very particular pig, who despises getting dirty, until one day when he gets dirty, and discovers how fun it is! It opens up a whole world to Edward; art projects, playing sports, science experiments, and jumping in the fall leaves!
That wraps up my week! What have you been reading? Have you enjoyed any of these books? I have so much fun putting this post together each week, I feel like I’m just playing with my books…💗
Thanks for stopping by…Happy Reading Friends!

What is WWWW?
It is a weekly post where I recap my week in books! I cover books that I’ve been reading, plan to read and what I’ve been reading to our preschool, usually highlighting a favorite picture book each week…
This has been an unusually great week for me reading! I started a new reading goal last week and I have been highly motivated to move on through the list of books! You will notice the theme… all of my books are Newbery winners. Newbery Awards started being given out in 1922 and I am working my way through them this summer(as of last week). I have quite a few to go…
What Have I Been Reading This Past Week?
Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman 🔥🔥🔥
Missing May by Cynthia Rylant 🔥🔥
Dear Mr Henshaw by Beverly Cleary(local author)🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The One and Only Ivan was definitely my favorite read this past week!
What Am I Reading Currently?
I am really excited about both of these Newbery books for my current reads, but I don’t know much about them yet!
The Crossover by Kwame Alexander
The Graveyard by Neil Gaiman
The President’s Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson(on Audibles)
What Do I Plan To Read Next?
I’m probably being too ambitious thinking I can read all five of these books this week, but I can sure try!🤔
Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
Number The Stars by Lois Lowry
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell
What Have I Been Reading At Story Time?
I love picking a favorite story each week to highlight for you from our circle time books. This week I have two:
A Loud Winter’s Nap by Katy Hudson
This is probably not the best pick in the middle of summer, as it’s a winter story, but I love anything to do with turtles or tortoises.
In this gorgeous book…
Every year Tortoise sleeps though winter. He assumes he isn’t missing much. Will Tortoise sleep through another winter, or will his friends convince him to stay awake and experience the frosty fun of winter?
I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen
This story gets the kids thinking about where they’ve seen the missing hat! They know after a few reads which animal in the forest is not being truthful, or which “animals”…  adorable and fun!
Thanks for checking out what I’ve been reading this week! Have a super Wednesday! Happy Reading!
