JAPAN | Singer-songwriter/actor Masayoshi Yamasaki from Augusta Camp and Taisei Sakai (Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger) are reportedly set to star in the Food BL drama ‘Mitsuya Sensei no Keikakuteki na Edzuke’. [MrMitsuyasPlannedFeeding] 三ツ矢先生の計画的な餌付け is based on Matsumoto Ayaka’s manga of the same name and to premiere on July 25, 2024 on Drama Phil timeslot (MBS).

"This pounding in my chest is more than just admiration!?" Tomoya Ishida is a newbie editor at fashion magazine Sophia Monthly. After his senior's sudden hospitalization, he's hastily assigned to collect a column manuscript from the famous culinary researcher Ayumu Mitsuya. He pays him a visit soon after, and to his surprise, finds an affable, older man who speaks in a Kyoto dialect. Being asked to wait, Tomoya is served a simple dish that entices his stomach, and soon he finds himself eagerly awaiting their next encounter!

As much as people clamor the SMT dev team reads your material (at a gunpoint if needed) and as critical as you can be, I'm almost sure a good chunk of criticism would ammount to nothing due to development and marketing reasons. Some demons would become less marketable, dramatic scenes wouldn't survive a reality check and we still wouldn't be the target audience (that's the root of all problems, really. SMT 4 onward isn't for people that grew with Nocturne, Persona 2 or SMT2 fan translation)

Yeah, I’m under no delusions that Japanese staff will read anything I write. It’s practically impossible (Eiji Ishida follows me on Twitter, but he gives mutual follows, so...). The closest is that Atlus USA West editors acknowledged that the Mizuki Mysteries article exists. But that was 3 years ago and no opportunities for proper mystery translations have presented themselves. There have even been some slight regressions like the persistent “Girimehkala” typo in P5 (switch the h and k) and how I guess they’ve just given up on Chinese stuff because Wu Kong reverted to Seiten Taisei in SJR:

I think fans can make a difference regarding something like localization--specifically for SMT since it involves real-life (sometimes impossibly obscure) research. But otherwise I agree with you. And it’s not like Nocturne was specifically made for adults, either. Teens deserve good storytelling, too. It’s such an impressionable age you could argue they deserve it the most. I should know since, once faced with literature that finally resonated with me, it took a great deal of effort to admit that Final Fantasy stories were probably less good and less important than cultural myths.

And I’m not even saying that teens need high brow material, but, uh, “medium brow.” Waist high brow. Consistent themes in a coherent narrative plus all the cool shit SMT naturally provides as a power trip RPG. The potential is all there for SMT to be that. But why does something so agreeable seem so unlikely?

Now that the final episode has been recorded, we receive comments from Genjo Sanzo’s voice Seki Toshihiko-san, Son Goku’s voice Hoshi Souichirou-san, Sha Gojyo’s voice Hirata Hiroaki-san, and Cho Hakkai’s voice Ishida Akira-san.

< Questions > ① Please tell us your impressions having finished recording the final episode. ② Looking back through all the episodes, is there a scene or a line that made a lasting impression on you? ③ Please give us a highlight from the final episode, and leave a message for the fans who support the TV anime “Saiyuki Reload Blast”.

◎ Seki Toshihiko-san, voice of Genjo Sanzo ① They were in a big pinch heading into the final episode!  The Sanzo Ikkou never retreat, even face to face with Nataku’s overwhelming abilities.  As expected, I feel like everyone’s zeal for acting has gone up.  The final episode definitely has a unique feel to it. ② Episode 8 “Kekkai” [Barrier].  Sanzo and Kougaiji’s head-on confrontation.  It would be easy with all four of the Ikkou, but could Sanzo stop Kougaiji on his own!?  That was exciting.  The line that made a lasting impression on me was “You plan on killing me while Goku and the others aren’t here, and getting your hands on two scriptures.  It’s a huge chance to kill two birds with one stone.  You sure are lucky, aren’t you Prince.” ③ I think you’ll see some scenes in the second half that weren’t in the original manga, put there in order to give an end to the story for the TV anime.  And we’re the same as you!  We’re wondering about the remaining mysteries as well.  I really hope you’ll watch over their journey until the very end.  Please support them!

◎ Hoshi Souichirou-san, voice of Son Goku ① I was seriously like “It’s already over!?”  It was the first TV anime adaptation in a while, so it was super sad when it ended.  But it was a very fulfilling and satisfying recording session.  I look forward to the day we get to do the continuation of this. ② Saiyuki is definitely a treasure trove of famous scenes and lines.  There’s everything from casual lines to cool one-liners so I can’t choose, but, for example, Goku’s answer to Tenjin in episode 3... or the scene where Kanzeon Bosatsu scolds Goku at the end of the Gaiden arc...  There’s lots of parts I like. ③ What’s going to happen to the “Saiyuki” journey...?  What path will the Sanzo Ikkou choose...?  Please look forward to the last of this TV series.  And look out for Saiyuki from now on too!

◎ Hirata Hiroaki-san, voice of Sha Gojyo ① It was over in a flash.  Even though there were 12 episodes in all, it felt far shorter than that.  It felt like we ran through it in an instant, so I’d have liked to do more. ② Sharak Sanzo entered in the second half, so it was really heart-pounding and fun.  As expected, out of all the series, the story of the Gaiden arc left a huge impression. ③ As for a highlight, I’d like it if the people who watch could feel it for themselves.  Since the second half of recording coincided with the start of the TV anime’s airing, we were able to record while taking into consideration the fans’ response; it felt like we were making it with all the fans.  Please watch to the very end.

◎ Ishida Akira-san, voice of Cho Hakkai ① It felt like the Sharak Sanzo arc finished in an instant.  Amid all of that we got to see important movements by the Kougaiji side and Heaven side, so I think there was important content. ② That would be the shocking remark caused by Taruchie’s foresight.  Overturning fate with brute force may be the Sanzo Ikkou’s way, but it’s uncertain how things will develop in the future. ③ I suppose the confrontation with Nataku is the highlight.  The Sanzo Ikkou will continue West no matter what happens, so I pray for another opportunity for us to see them in an anime.

Leonardo (CV Daisuke Sakaguchi), Klaus (CV Rikiya Koyama), Zapp (CV Kazuya Nakai), Chain (CV Yuu Kobayashi), Steven (CV Mitsuru Miyamoto), K.K. (CV Ari Orikasa), Deldro Brody & Dog Hummer (CV Keiji Fujiwara & Mamoru Miyano), Zed (CV Hikaru Midorikawa), Gilbert (Banjō Ginga), Femt (Akira Ishida) and Sonic (Yūma Uchida) are all back for fall's Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond TV anime. As are Unison SQuare Garden, now on op "Fake Town Baby."

  The series' broadcast starts October 7th.

  The "Next Series" will tell more about the relationship between Leonardo Watch and his little sister Michella (CV: Nana Mizuki), and will offer episodes focusing on the mysterious "All Seeing Eyes of God."

  Shigehito Takayanagi (Dagashi Kashi, Galaxy Angel, World God Only Knows) takes over from Rie Matsumoto.

  Dagashi Kashi's Yasuko Kamo will be writing rather than Kazunao Furuya, but Toshihiro Kawamoto returns as character designer/animation director, along with Taisei Iwasaki on music.

  The ED song "Step-Up Love" is composed/arranged/produced by 52-year-old singer-songwriter Yasuyuki

Okamura, and performed by DAOKO.

Mitsuya sensei surrender was sweet

Their Love is sweet

This series was warm and gentle, I really liked their dynamic and interactions, their relationship was made of comfort, support and understanding combined and was a demonstration that a bl series can be good without NC scenes
