I just clean my room and find my old sketches. When the hype of arslan senki (hiromu arakawa's version) i love the brother relationship between shapur and isfan. I read somewhere that isfan is the son of mistress/slave of some noble knight, the wife is jealous so she banished the mother and child to mountain. When the legitimate son come home, shapur, he immediately search his lil bro, and find him among the wolves. Apparantly his lil bro survived and raised by those wolves. Shapur then became father-brother-mentor figure to his lil bro, who in turn idolized him greatly. ... well i kinda weak for brothers stories like this (and to hiromu's elric brother too).
The anime nor manga didnt focused on isfan grieve too much. But i imagine he would felt his brother dying, since maybe raised by wolves would strengthened his instinct... but maybe it's only me being dramatic, haha
Isfan and gieve! They really tease me to just ship them together! (Now i think, it like madaraxtobirama kind of thing) they interaction began with gieve provoke isfan (later known that it was a part of narsus' plan to deceived enemy). But then isfan realized that gieve save them from ambush secretly. Some source told me that isfan then has major development in the novel (?) That he would tolerate gieve, because gieve killed shapur as an act of benevolence to avoid shapur being hummilated by the enemy. I kinda sab because despite quite hype (arslan senki), unfortunately, at that time there's not many fic about them...

I finally have enough of the Holy Trinity Of Creative Projects (motivation, time, energy) so I'm now collecting references and inspiration for Farangis' design sheet!
The chapter was!!! Gieve going to give Bodin a “little greeting”. Hope he's the one to do the bastard in.
Ahh I'm so excited to see what you come up with for Farangis!
I was reading the chapter with very wide eyes, that's for sure. There's a lot that I love about it, and when the simulpub's widely available online I'll sit down and make a post with some thoughts. But yes, that scene with Gieve leapt out at me because it very much does feel like it's setting up for him to be the one to kill Bodin, and honestly I'm up for that.
That single panel flashback to Shapur's fate is accompanied by a line from Gieve where he now appears to regret not having shot Bodin back then — a mistake he now seems intent on correcting. A quick death by an arrow is better than Bodin deserves, but it's the right choice. To torture him would be to stoop to his level. And in taking him out with one swift, decisive action, the Knights Templar will have been effectively decapitated.
Gieve killing Bodin here fits with the theme of things coming full circle, which we're seeing a lot recently in the manga. It makes sense from that angle, and will almost certainly also lead to a scene where, rather than finding out that Gieve shot Shapur, Isfan hears that he was the one who killed Bodin. Perhaps this time he'll hear it from someone other than Gieve, whereas Gieve keeps quiet about it (he's not motivated by the thought of a reward, and he isn't looking for gratitude either). In the end, they may not ever be best friends but it would bring them a lot closer to reconciling their differences.
There's also the fact that (vague novel spoilers incoming) in Book 16, the very final novel, Gieve was responsible for effectively defeating an entire army with only three arrows, by aiming at one of the horses pulling a chariot, then taking out the driver, before finally sending an arrow right into the forehead of their leader.
And here we have Bodin, riding in a cart with someone else driving the horses. So I can't help but wonder whether we'll see the exact same thing here?

Okay now I've seen Gieve being his characteristic irritating yet somehow charming self here I almost feel bad about what I did. He was a victim of the plot! This is a fun piece though with the bickering between Isfan and Gieve, and Areyan in the middle. I'm pleased to see the bolbol nickname make an appearance!
“Little bolbol,” Gieve whines, though his lips are quirked into a smile. He throws his arms around the little bird, pulling him into an embrace.
“Hm?”
“Isfan's being mean.”
“You are just too thin-skinned for the truth, fool,” Isfan interjects with a sneer.
“Like I said!” Gieve pouts like a yazata forbidden child, while the actual child in his arms is the picture of composure save for an amused shine in his eyes. “Mean.”
“What can I do for you, Gieve?” Areyan asks mildly. Yazata above, he's indulging the manchild.
“Tell him he's wrong, of course! Tell him I'm the handsomest man in the whole of Pars— no, make that the entire continent. More accurate.”
“The little dove will be doing no such thing, cease your deranged chattering!”
“There, there. You're the handsomest man in the world, Gieve. Positively the most gorgeous. Blindingly dazzling—”
“Ah, ah, ah. You mustn't recite it so flatly! What have I been teaching you, let's try it again, from the top, this time with feeling—”
“Anyone would be when they're forced to play along with your nonsense, Gieve. Release my brother at once.”
“He's my brother too!”
“Oooh, can I be your older brother?” Areyan looks up from the piece of cloth he's been diligently stitching into... something. Isfan doesn't quite know what he's doing with it.
The blink he gives his brothers is the picture of innocence.
Gieve makes a strangled noise, offended. “Must you gang up on me too? Mean, mean I say, the both of you! Being around Isfan had corrupted my beloved little brother—”
"Will you please shut up?”
“Make me, wolf. Oh but you can't, because—”
“Because he can't catch you?”
“Exactly!”
It was then Isfan's turn to make an offended noise. “Areyan...”
The boy only giggles in response.
Antidote for the beheaded Gieve in @innerchorus ' upcoming fic!

Chapter 133 reaction
SO. It is here. The start of the final. And the chapter did not disappoint!
I love that we start with Kishward. The way that he is ready to just... start fighting his goddamn father-in-law. The fucking horror he must feel right now.
WHY DOES MANUCHER LOOK SO CREEPY AAAAAA
GIEVE AND TUS! Ready to fight as well!
Saam, love of my life, I know that you are having the worst day of YOUR life but
WHY AND HOW IS YOUR CHIN GETTING SQUARER??
Back to being serious though.
I liked that we saw the different weapons from the imposters.
ThE REACTIONS! Zandeh, poor baby!
Love how Hilmes is stepping up! Go, Hilmes, go! Protect the pup!
Aaaaaa, Isfan! Also, Kubad reaction! All the ngo with the flow characters (Gieve, Kubad) are getting serious!
Aaaand immediat change to the Daryun vs. Vahriz fight!
This is not a panel I ever tgought I see... My feelings are all over the place! (Great compasition by the way!)
Daryun fighting for his life while being so confused 😭
Baaabbyyyyyyy 😭
Narsus mind doing backflips with the way he is trying to keep up with all the new info
Look, I am with you Arslan but what is this shade to the elderly?? WHAT HAPPENED TO RESPECT YOUR ELDERS, YOUNG MAN???!!!
Ho god ho god! The fight is making my heart race!.
Arslan shaking in terror and grief 😭
ARAKAWA HOW DARE! HOW DARE YOU NEARLY GIVING ME A HEART ATTACK!
I THOUGH HE LOST AN EYE FOR A SECOND! HOLY SHIT!
When I saw that panel I was just sitting there like, "Sir, why are you T-posing????"
Aaaand back to being creepy we go!
Get this man away from my babies!
SIR, LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THESE ARE THE FINEST WARRIOR PARS HAS TO OFFER. *takes off slipper* Get *slaps* your *slaps* facts *slaps* straight!
That is an ominous chapter titel cover!
Kishward and his horse are fighting for their lifes!
NOOO! NOT THE CITIZENS! (Also they fixed an error from a few chapters ago! See the man in the back telling "Manucher" that Arslan said there to be no fighting amonst Parsers anymore"
NOOOO! NOT THE HORSE! You will be missed!
I'm gonna quote my friend here: "But first of all: it was clear that Ma boy gieve would land the first hit"
Ööhm, Kishward? Please put your cape back on! It had extra shoulder protection!
Oof! Such a cold scene with Tus asking Kishward for permision to kill! He means buisness!
Ugh so cool! I still aodre his design to pieces! Especially his head gear!
There are the clouds - present for two or three chapters now...
Oh Zarawant, you have no idea what chaos is about to unleash...
And there they are - the flying apes! Fucking disgusting! (Shows good creature design)
JESUS! ARAKAWA, HOW DARE YOU MAKE THIS THE LAST PANEL OF THE CHAPTER!
Overall: A very good chapter.
Bonus! My favourit panel of the chapter!
Who could have predicted THIS?! (everyone...)
#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#I will make a sepearte post about my AU thoughts#there aren't many but at least there are any!#heh that rimed

Headcannon: Being Gieve's little sister pt.2
•You two are quite the annoying sibling duo.
•You two love to mess with the...mature and honourful guys.
•You love to mess with Daryun, Isfan
•You are the main entertainment to Ayyan. Playing with him around Peshawar.
•In Gilan you two were enjoying the sea dishes and the product that were sold there
•You swore to your brother there you saw a mermaid
•You were being a literal monkey on the ship of Grahze, jumping from the nets to nets.
•You jumped in the sea, giving the company a heartattack.
•You messed with your brother by floating on the water...pretending to be dead.
•When your brother checked on you by poking his scabbard to you...you pulled him in the water with you
•Eventual is it was you two and Prince Arslan swimming near the coast
•Of course, Daryun had no chill and watched you three so nothing couldn't happen to the prince
•The prince, however, was enjoying it. Learning to swim and fool around.

Aye! You replied! That makes me really happy!
Oh your fic ideas are excellent— excellent I tell you! I want to read all of them so bad. Jaswant and Arslan, perhaps on a quiet night or something, looking out a window or looking at a campfire (depending on the location), quietly enjoying the night before one of them starts a conversation— something like that? I got that sort of vibes from that idea, what is your take on the idea? 👀
Elam and Arslan getting lost in the woods could be so cute and funny, with Arslan being very eager to learn about foraging and whatnot!
OHOHOHOHOHOHOHO— ARSLAN SENKI TIME TRAVEL!! That's a first! I admit I've always wanted a time travel fic for ArSen, after reading so many Naruto time travel fics... Taking those as an example, Arslan could either travel back into his younger body or his older body travels as well and now there's two Arslans running around, in the first option ppl would definitely notice Arslan's changes while in the second option ppl would be Confused™ at this man/young man who looks like he could be related to their prince, so many ways it could go!
I'm afraid to say I have not watched Vinland Saga— but I'll take your word for it! And YES badass sassy Arslan please! He's baby but he's badass (more like he's baby AND badass— why not both?)
As for my fic ideas... I mainly have two, both heavily canon divergent! One is based on the other, sorta like a fanfic of a fanfic, an AU of an AU. I don't know if you've read Stormborn by blackkat, a Naruto fanfic where Uzushio is rebuilt, but the first AU is heavily inspired by it! Arslan has magical parents, he reunites with his mage clan and he scoops up Team Arslan on the way to rediscovering his long lost homeland— something like that. Featuring of found family, rediscovering your identity, lonely and traumatized and grieving and touch-starved Arslan (he was eleven when he left Pars)... I'd written some chapters of it but I am rewriting it because oh boy it is unsatisfactory— I haven't even finished one chapter of the rewrite but I digress.
The second AU... Arslan never becomes Crown Prince because dear old Andragoras found another unfortunate family to rob... Yeesh. Instead Arslan never becomes Arslan, his parents are still magical (but they dead, just like in the first AU), it is Shapur of all people who takes in an infant Arslan because... Let's just say he's indebted to a certain weaver who happens to be Arslan's birth father. His clan comes into the picture not long after. I dunno if you've seen the ask I sent about Kazai and Ranna— it be me! This AU features big brother Isfan, good papa Shapur, Gieve and Farangis being part of the family, Alfarīd getting a chaotic girlfriend...
I want to gush about the second AU because it's the one I've been fixating on these days but my ask is already really long and I don't want to intrude! >< Have a nice day!
My take on the Juswant and Arslan fic ... well, you'll just have to wait and see ;)
I've read a ton Naruto fics a while back with time travel as well!! Arslan-raises-Arslan, older Arslan replaces younger Arslan's mind, Older Arslan projects his memories back to younger Arslan but they get a little lost in translation, someone other than Arslan travels back - SO MANY ARSLANS.
Your fic ideas sound really cool! You should keep at them! All these found family stuff will end me, and I'll gladly let them. Arslan with magical parents honestly makes a lot of sense - this boy is a literal saint.
For your first fic - I've read a bit of Stormborn actually. And I've also read Ruling Heart of Glaciers . It's a really cool idea worth exploring!
For your second fic - I had a similar premis (Arslan never becomes Crown Prince) but our ideas are very different. In mine, Arslan's sort-of "Destiny" is to rule Pars. But Arslan (with Gieve) is a musician or smth and he says a big FU to the gods. (I admit, I'm stealing a lot from a bunch of Zuko AUs at this point - some of them my own.) Big brother Isfan, good papa Shapur??? Sign me up!
And Alfrid getting a chaotic girlfriend? HELL YES.
Don't worry about intrusion lol, you're hyping me up to write my fics now. Have a nice day!

S1E21: A Song of Farewell
I type these as I watch; bonus points if you spot the scenes that made me hit caps lock
i really don't like the sound of that title, folks
-- DAMMIT, again with talking shit to Jaswant? you fuckin scumbags -- Gieve. GIEVE. Don't taunt the dumbass - you're very witty, but you're not helping. -- aw, don't let it get to you, Gieve - he's just a useless hambrains with bad sideburns.
-- oh hey, Kubard, how's it going? i like your giant...sword.
-- oooooooh shit it's Shapur's younger brother -- Gieve, you're not wrong about anything - you deserve to be here - but holy shit dude, this is gonna get ugly
-- don't kill Gieve, don't kill Gieve, don't kill Gieve, don't kill Gieve OH THANK MITHRA, IT'S FARANGIS
-- GIEVE. you're only digging yourself a hole, dude, put down the fucking shovel -- I'm conflicted. On the one hand, Gieve has obviously developed loyalty and like...some finer feelings. But dammit, he just HAD to show them in the MOST DRAMATIC WAY POSSIBLE -- GIEVE. DUDE. -- EVERYONE. Gieve is being a shit because he cares and he doesn't know how to deal with that. -- fuck, why did this have to go down in front of the whole camp. -- BANISHED. GREAT. wonderful. fantastic. i'm gonna go eat a bowl of ice cream the size of my fucking head, and then die. -- dammit -- awwwww, Kishward is trying to be sensible and patch things up, I love him
-- a CHARADE? it was a set-up? how dare you play me like that. how dare you. oh thank god. fuck.
-- hey, this show is pretty fuckin' good.
-- fuck, that's a big army
^^ hhhnnngggg oh god, why. why would you test me like this. why would you test me with Narsus wielding a switch, i am WEAK Narsus is still an outstanding strategist, I’m glad he’s on our side.
-- Zaravant, Isfan, and Tus need to have their heads knocked together. -- see? it was a trap. this is what happens when you run off on your own instead of listening to Narsus -- I bet if they get out of this, Narsus is gonna be like "well, it was for the best, they're unlikely to break rank again in the future"
-- music? I don't really understand the magicky stuff in this world. (was it Gieve helping, though?)
-- (oh my god it was ✨)
-- Farangis, did you...did you miss him? -- he says goodbye with pretty goth poetry and then sparkles at her? "Look back on this when the nights are lonely"?? oh, Gieve, that was ridiculous and beautiful and i love you forever -- can't believe I just called this guy 'Hot Bard' for like 4 episodes. like an asshole.

This is so freaking awesome. I am crying. I really love the brotherly bond between Shapur and Isfan and I am so sad that the story didn’t focused more on them and their relationship and Isfans grieve to loses his older brother.
Also I am a big Gieve and Isfan shipper!!!!
And I didn’t find many fanart or fanfics about them or Shapur and Isfan so I am really happy that you share your art with us.

Just a few more disjointed thoughts about Chapter 130 after rereading again (sign of a good chapter that I've been thinking about it throughout the next day, too).
Arslan repeating Hilmes's own words back to him ("Let the true Shah be revealed by his mastery of the sword") 👌👌👌
Zandeh trailing blood on his way to Hilmes 😭 (I'm still not over it, but thankfully the wound on his arm doesn't look serious.)
Andragoras broke Arslan's sword with one swing. If Innocentis hadn't entered the scene, what would have happened next? I think we'd have seen Andragoras vs Daryun, personally. They're inside the tower so no possibility for Gieve to save the day with an arrow, but Daryun being prepared to fight and kill the Shah for Arslan's sake? Looking at his expression in the panel before Azrael shows up, I think he was readying himself to do just that.
I'm going to need a scene of Team Hilmes waiting together inside that room next chapter. I need to see the look on his face. I need to hear the words that might be spoken between them.
Also someone please go and fetch Irina! At least let her know Hilmes is okay and make sure she's safe, but ideally bring her to his side!
Hilmes going through all of this while still wearing his fur trim coronation cloak 🥲
A few characters were conspicuous by their absence... Estelle (who I'm sure we'll see searching for the Lusitanians she previously helped soon), Jaswant and Farangis. We saw what Gieve was up to in this chapter, maybe next chapter we'll see what their role was during this time?
There's a part of me still hanging on to the whole 'what if Team Arslan DID go the Mount Damavand before their arrival in Ecbatana?' theory. As I said before, they had time... And Arslan once more stating "This sword was bestowed on me by the Hero King Kaykhusraw", this time to Andragoras... what if there's some truth in that? What if his bluff in the previous chapter was mixed with truth? He cannot draw the sword (yet), but something happened to indicate Kaykhusraw's will that he possess it? Perhaps Kaykhusraw's wishes are that the blade is only used to shed the blood of the Snake King, meaning that Arslan will be able to draw it when he faces Zahhak? Ah, I don't know, though, because would a flashback to that moment even work now? Well, maybe if they had captured a mage and next chapter we see Farangis guarding their snakey prisoner, we could then backtrack to see how that happened.
Surely there will be a full Team Arslan reunion next chapter, right? Kishward's forces are right outside, meaning that he, Isfan, Tous and Kubard can soon join forces with Arslan, given that Andragoras is now out of the picture.
I wonder whether Arslan will have his own coronation before or after the matter of Zahhak is settled? I imagine, unlike Hilmes, he wouldn't rush to do something like that until the city is in a better state. But how ready are they to to defeat Zahhak? How much do they even know about him, his servants, where they might be hiding, and what their plans are? This is why I keep saying they need to capture a mage. Though really, good luck getting anything out of one of them, they're unlikely to be willing to talk.
#arslan senki#the heroic legend of arslan#arslan senki spoilers#all these words and I'm sure I'll still have forgotten something#yes I'm really fixated on them capturing a mage okay?

Arslan Senki Chapter 133 Live-reaction
Right off the bat we're shown that those clouds are more than normal. Creepy as fuck.
Ohhh that's creepy—
OHHHHH THAT'S FUCKING CREEPY AND I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT
Okay not to get fixated on weird details but why does it feel like Shapur's braids are longer here than they ever have been before. Enigma hair 😭
Arslan is not okay. The grief is so palpable here (and Narsus looks like a parent here for some reason)
And it's no wonder Arslan recognized Vahriz's swordsmanship. After all—
Chapter 1.
Chapter 133.
You see it too, right?
OMINOUS AF. Also at least Vahriz is telling them outright that this has to do with Team Zahhak, I'm not sure the other parties are getting the same courtesy. If they'd said it there'd be far less confusion (rn all the soldiers are confused to hell and back and don't know what to do) so I guess the rest of the undead warriors didn't bother saying anything.
It's unsettling to see such a serious face on Gieve. Shit's going down. The blade was so close to Kishward's head! It's a good thing Gieve stepped in. And Manuchurh's words. OOF.
He's going back to Arslan's side. Will he run into Shapur and Isfan and Kubard on the way?
Aw, the interaction is cute!
Very very 👀 that Jimsa comments on how the air doesn't smell like rain despite the clouds. Veeery interesting.
ANYWAYS THE FUCKING APES AAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭😭

Arslan Senki vol.16 Spoilers
So the final book of the Arslan Senki series was eventually published yesterday.
And so far it has received rather negative reviews.
Basically, most of the remaining mysteries were solved or at least addressed to some extent, but as many fans had feared, everything was too fast-paced and therefore extremely messy. Some people wrote on twitter that it was more like reading a summary rather than a novel x(
Anyway, more spoilers under the cut.
(Warning: NOVEL SPOILERS)
dead/killed:
Jaswant
Isfan (by the sorcerer)
Kubard (dies in a duel against Ilterish)
Merlaine (beheaded by Zahhak)
Kishward (by Zahhak)
Parafuda (by Zahhak)
Daryun (by Zahhak)
Arslan (dies in a duel against Zahhak)
Lucian
Hilmes (killed by Daryun in a duel)
Bruhan (executed by Merlaine)
Guiscard (by Merlaine & Farangis)
Fitna (by Gieve)
Leyla (by Zahhac)
Tahamine (by Zahhac)
basically all the villains (Zahhak, Ilterish, Grugan, Master)
survivors:
Elam (marries Aisha, dies at the age of 68)
Gieve (dies from disease 10 years after Arslan’s death)
Farangis (dies from disease 25 years after Arslan’s death)
Rajendra (the only winner)
Salima
Nasrin, Aiyar
Ofrur (dies from a fucking cold before she turns 20 wtf)
Parizad
Plot:
All countries (Pars, Misr, Maryam, Turk and Turan) perish because all royals died (Arslan, Hilmes, Guiscard, Tahamine, Ilterish, etc). The only king who survived is Rajendra and thus Sindhura is the only country that continues to exist.
The kingdom of Pars becomes “Parstan” lmao
Zahhak suddenly turns out to be a Homunculus that was created through alchemy wtf (seems like Tanaka was inspired by Arakawa’s FMA lol)
Master’s identity was disappointing - he’s just one of the sorcerers/alchemists who created Zahhak (okay what were all these ominous scenes with him in the previous book about??)
The mystery of Andragoras & Tahamine’s daughter → there was no daughter in the first place lmao
Arslan’s last wish was to be buried together with Daryun wtf
When Daryun died, Arslan said “Daryun was like a big brother to me... no, he was more than that.”
no mention of what happened to Azrael, Shabrang and Kaivan (Isfan’s wolf baby) after their masters’ death
Out of the three survivors, it seems Gieve was the one who suffered the most from Arslan’s death (he could never really get over his death and died in his 30s)
Aiyar’s son (Kishward’s grandson) ROSTAM becomes the successor of Rukhnabad omg (”Rostam” is a legendary hero in Iranian mythology)
sort of a happy end in that when Elam dies a natural death at the age of 60-something, Arslan and all the others who died in the battle come to pick him up and the 16 Generals and their beloved master ride through the ‘endless heavenly shores’ (subtitle of this book)
in short, it’s a “and they all lived happily ever after - in Heaven” ending
in other words, Elam is Rose and Arslan is Jack
youtube
Bonus: The last words of the chracters
Hirmes: “I'm coming to see you now, Irina”
Kishward: “Your Majesty... Nasrin... Aiyar...”
Daryun (to Arslan): “I, Daryun, was happy to be able to serve you”
Arslan (to Elam, Gieve, Farngis): “Thank you, everyone...oh btw, bury me together with my bro, ‘kay?”
