I did a redraw of that one Maraquan colouring page with Caylis. I collaged a stock image of a saltwater reef tank with photos of scallops and a pearl. The mermaid and the bubbles I did in Sketchbook app (formerly autodesk sketchbook). I love CSP but collage work is way too cumbersome when you need to import every piece.

Wizard, seer subclass. For some reason, I see Isca as more of a vanilla elf and Caylis as more of a drow, so take that as you will depending on who you like better.

Does anyone else remember the comics on Neopets?

I used to read the Curse of Maraqua all the time as a kid, and recently rediscovered my love for Neopets after my sister mentioned wanting to introduce my niece to it. So naturally I had to go and draw my favorite characters!

I took a few artistic liberties on the designs- most prominent one being Jacques- but I’m very happy with how these came out, considering the last time I drew them I was drawing what I can only describe as advanced stick figures!

Time for some LORE, boys and girls and others,

This is Isca. She is an Aisha who lives in Maraqua. Now, if you don’t know her, it’s okay, that’s what I’m here for.

Now, it’s often assumed that Isca had good prophetic dreams that always came true, and her sister, Caylis, had bad prophetic dreams that also always came true. This is incorrect. The truth is that only Isca has prophetic dreams that portend the future; she just didn’t tell anybody about her bad dreams, so any hiccup or misfortune could be passed off as “coincidence”--or, unfortunately, to her sister.

And can you blame her? King Kelpbeard is kind of a jerk.

Anyway, she saw the whole “pirate invasion of Maraqua” thing happening before it even happened. She, of course, couldn’t keep news of this scale silent, but before she could tell the king what was going to occur, she ran into a pirate named Garin.

Now, Garin was threatened by the same force that threatened Maraqua: Captain Scarblade, scourge of the... however many seas Neopia has. Garin was in an epic battle against him in order to be at the top of the “richest pirate” leaderboard, and he was very despondent because if Scarblade pillaged Maraqua, he would only be the second-richest pirate.

Isca hatched the plan for Garin to make a tidy profit out of Maraqua’s victory, ensuring the safety of Maraqua by appealing to his venality. Unfortunately, she also happened to gain his undying affection as well, which wouldn’t have been so unfortunate if he weren’t, you know, a pirate.

She just passed off his ludicrously expensive gifts to her sister, who is now enjoying a nice, underwater villa off the coast of Mystery Island.
