When I asked my mom to help me twist my hair, the intention was to weave protection and love into the strands. But then I put on "Death Becomes Her" and we were so deep into talk of the fashions there that instead I put glamour and love in there lol

idk not even touching on the interpretation of, and historical inaccuracies in the new Napoleon biopic (and bypassing my infuriation over the de-milf-ication of Josephine and reversal of their real life age differences) the movie just seems... boring?? And the depiction of Napoleon himself also boring?? Like the man succeeded a republican revolution by declaring himself emperor and was successful doing so largely through personal charisma and a robust cult of personality and nothing about Scott/Phoenix Napoleon is giving me even a hint of that. Like occasionally through the glower and saturnine affect I got a glimpse of "crazy!!" but not even the right kind!! I would not be buying prints of this guy dressed up as Augustus to put in my house, you know??
#also making him look like Ye Olde Peasant at the beginning lmao#anyway casting anyone as a satisfactory Josephine is so difficult after Isabella Rosselini though... like how would you follow that up?#maybe the script didn't do Josephine justice in that production but the Effect & Presence of Josephine herself as portrayed by Rossellini 🤌

There is a profound heaviness to Bharani nakshatra, found in mid sidereal Aries. Its symbol is a female yoni. Its deity is Yama, the god of death. Just as a woman's yoni bears the weight of pregnancy and birth, Bharani natives bear the weight of karma -- in their own lives, and for others.
If you kick a male where it hurts, he will cry and shrivel up. But if you kick a woman down, she will internalize and bear that pain. There is a sadness and heaviness in Bharani natives' eyes, and they often bear much trauma and see death in their lifetimes.
Because of them experiencing death and rebirth over and over again, this gives them a rich interior life. They can become philosophers. They say that contemplating death naturally makes one philosophical.
On the other hand, this intimacy with their own mortality can make them extremely indulgent and worldly. Bharani natives I've known personally tend to have great taste in art, music, food, film, interior design, fashion, etc. But because of this connection they have to raw, wild femininity, they can easily fall into addiction -- with food, sex, drugs, alcohol, codependency, etc. They can be ruthless on themselves and others.
This power that they have over birth and death makes them natural nurturers. They can be great psychologists, parents, and gardeners. I knew a Bharani woman that took stray cats in and nurtured them back to health and happiness.
Bharani natives are karma bringers. Wherever Bharani is, expect transformation in some capacity to follow.

fave movies of 2024!
wanted to do this meme since I saw it around! my top ten of 2024 (this was very very hard for the back five especially)
The Holdovers - I saw this while I was home with covid and I liked it so much I made sure my mum and I went to support it in cinemas too. everyone in this is so good. emotional without being treacly or over-sentimental. saw it in january, it was not surpassed for me (although there were some contenders)
Challengers - got to see this in a completely empty luxe cinema with my sister. Vibes UNMATCHED onscreen bisexuality HAPPENING toxic polycule UNDEFEATED the score AGRESSIVELY GOOD, my favourite cinema experience of 2024
I Saw the TV Glow - you know sometimes you see yourself in a movie and it's nice and sometimes you see yourself and it's like, hey stop looking at me i feel extremely exposed. i'm not trans so maybe i'm not getting the 100% complete experience of that but like. there was a lot that felt uncomfortably a callout to me and my experience personally. phenomenal, disturbing film that i feel like usually i wouldn't have enjoyed but i have not stopped thinking about it, my god.
Thelma - this movie has no right to be as good as it is. everyone in it could be a stock character but isn't. i want 17 oscars for june squibb who is NINETY FOUR and so funny and made me cry in this movie. also her grandson is played by fred hechinger my beloved. will make you want to call your grandparents, if they're still around. made me laugh made cry was super nuanced about old people's living situations and different modes for different people. also nicole byer is in it. what more do you want
Conclave - Mean Girls: Papal election edition. Everyone in this movie is doing the most in the best way. The cutest cardinal ever. Ralph Fiennes requesting gossip and then saying I CAN'T HEAR IT I'M SEQUESTERED. Tooch. Lucian Msamati's everything. That one vaping cardinal who sucked but looked great doing it. ISABELLA ROSSELINI. Absolute banger start to finish.
A Real Pain - saw this on my birthday and I'm really impressed by almost everything in it. the characterisation has nuance and depth and is truly relatable (I'm David, it made me cringe sometimes how much) and if we're not giving Kieran Culkin all the awards for this what are we doing.
Fancy Dance - god. this movie. took forever to get distributed even though it was really well received at festivals and clearly made on a shoestring but looks so good, people need to be investing in Indigenous filmmakers (not just in the US, but specific to this movie, Indigenous filmmakers making layered, hard to easily define stories about modern Indigenous people's lives) Lily Gladstone's so fantastic in this - like, if you loved her in Killers of the Flower Moon please watch this I know it's on apple tv and it's a pain but please she's so good and she has a lot more to do! So much about motherhood and family and specifically how this works within Indigenous communities in the US. Watch it!
Your Fat Friend - the only documentary on this list, and I don't watch many but I love Aubrey Gordon from Maintenance Phase and I was delighted this was even able to get screenings here, I didn't think it would happen. This movie made me cry intensely and then again talking about it on the way home. I can't say my experiences are really all that comparable to hers, but there was some stuff that really got me. Such a lovely, well-made look at her life and her experiences - sometimes tough, but not misery porn either. support a fat queer lady who is extremely funny and smart and seek it out~
Kneecap - i went into this movie not realising that Kneecap is a) a real band and b) playing themselves in this movie, and that was a wild thing to find out AFTER I saw the whole thing. it was such a fun experience, and I loved how much the Irish language is foregrounded both in the script and the music (which is again, real!)
No Hard Feelings - I don't have a long winded passage here just I did not expect this movie to be as funny and genuine as it was, and i think i haven't seen a truly great comedy in a while so I wanted to shout this one out. especially for the "first meeting" scene, i was crying.
tagging if you're interested and want to do a top 5/top 10 @cal-daisies-and-briars @jeeyuns @jellicle-ball @manycoloureddays @spaceportfloozy :)
