she hadn’t thought of anything else but them the whole year she was gone. this was her last summer at cousins until she went away to college and the idea of going off and not knowing when she was going to see him again made her queasy. it was her 18th birthday, and still she heard nothing. she would have been able to understand it, if he was busy or something had happened that he couldn’t pick up the phone and call her. but the days were long and it was almost impossible not to overthink it, not to feel the hurt sink in. 

taylor had dragged her to a party down the beach, it wasn’t her idea to go, nor was she feeling in the partying mood but she wouldn’t take no for an answer. belly would show up for a little while to satisfy her best friend. taylor disappeared to get them drinks, while belly decided to explore. seeing a couple kissing in the distance belly didn’t think much of it, it was dark with a campfire compassing a light around them. probably wouldn’t have even noticed him if she hadn’t pried a second time, smacking lips with a blonde bimbo.  actually, that’s not really nice of her. she could be a really nice person, green monster roaring its head. if looks could kill...

”what the shit!” her friend expressed who apparently belly was incapable of seeing the rest of her surroundings as taylor caught the same thing belly did, springing into action on her behalf. “no, taylor, don’t!” let’s just go...motioning on her face, only taylor was already moving in their direction with belly following closely behind her. god kill her, kill her now.  “didn’t take you long did it? piece of shit.”  belly stood behind her as she watched his realization of her being there in that moment, arms falling over her stomach. 

she asked him to wait for her, she asked him if he could handle it, she wished he could have told her no instead, save her the heartbreak. she would have understood. wasn’t exactly cheating, felt like it though, the ache in her chest proof of that.
