Does anyone have any good fic recs for a rich stiles au?

I've had this one idea where his grandma on his mom's side is a billionaire but he doesn't know her because his mom ran away from home but then his grandma died or something and all of the money goes to him and he inherits all of her assets and properties and cars and stuff.

He doesn't tell the pack or anything but he also doesn't hide it and always just buys things for everyone.

When him and Scott go to dinner he pays. When he goes shopping with Erica he pays for everything. After Derek gets the loft Stiles buys a bunch of IKEA furniture or something and stocks the kitchen with a bunch of cooking tools like pots pans all that stuff. And he pays for all the groceries too(he likes cooking for his boyfriend). Also he pays the bills for the sheriff and Melissa but without them knowing somehow.

They don't realize that anything is weird until they see him walking out of a huge construction site while signing papers or something. They tell him to stop bothering the construction workers and that he needs to stop trespassing before he gets arrested. And he's just all nonchalant like "actually I own the property and I'm signing these papers to approve a few things".

As it turns out Stiles noticed that Isaac was having a hard time in foster care and was basically homeless. He had overheard Isaac talking to Boyd about how he was lucky he could stay with Derek and didn't have to sleep in the streets. He started noticing all the homeless people in town and decided that he would make a homeless shelter for them to stay somewhere and get help to make resumes, get jobs, get clothes and necessities.

And he contacted the local food kitchen and started a partnership so that the people from the shelter could go there for meals and he would help pay for the food and maybe help them buy a better building and stuff.

Stiles then goes in depth about all the things he had done like sponsoring a bunch of small businesses that were starting to blow up(he was really proud of them), investing in green companies to help global warming(those polar bears looked real sad), donating supplies to organizations in remote parts of the world so they can build schools and homes(everyone needs an education Scotty), donating nice clothes and bags, diapers, toys, and baby food to DV shelters(baby stuff is expensive dude), donating money to research centers for epilepsy and other conditions(they gave him a pamphlet if you wanna read it), building a psych ward that actually helps you with mental health(eichen house it terrible), etc.

The pack get more and more surprised throughout his speech, their eyebrows are basically in their hairline. When he finally stops talking he just looks at them like 🙂 with his hands in his pockets just standing there. The pack just erupt and ask him a bunch of questions until someone finally asks how he can afford all that and he explains what happened with his grandma.

Scott then asks him why he didn't say anything and Stiles is like "I thought you knew" he then tells the pack about all the ways he most definitely wasn't hiding it and the pack just realize that they were idiots.

The Hale pack deserved better! Erica and Boyd should have stayed alive! Isaac should have stayed with Derek! Cora should have stayed too! They could have had their rocky beginnings but eventually (with the help of pack mother Stiles) they would have gotten together to train and bond, first out of necessity and then before you knew it, they would become an actual functioning pack (with the added bonus of therapy because Lord knows they need it).

I can just imagine on a random day (or so it seems, it's actually the Hale House fire remembrance day), the pack barges into the loft and manhandle a sourwolf who doesn't want to be bothered (especially not today) into the living room for a surprise (Derek tries to roar them or scare them into submission so they can leave him alone but they have learned to push back at some commands, they know he won't hurt them and he doesn't mean all his threats).

Erica is adamant that he's going to enjoy this surprise as they push him down on the couch (Derek highly doubts it but he is secretly glad about the distraction) and then they roll up their sleeves or take of their shirts— depending on who, and reveal their triskelion tattoos that they got. (A reminder that even though Derek and Cora may have lost their family, Isaac too, Boys and his sister and Erica has never felt like she belonged anywhere, that despite the odds, they found each other and became each other's family and pack.)

Of course Derek is speechless. (And no he did not cry no matter how much Erica, Cora and Stiles insisted that he did). He does realise though that he isn't alone anymore and they spend the day by visiting the Hale memorial and watching movies and gorging on snacks and food and taking puppy pile naps ("Stop calling us pups, Stiles!) which eventually leads to a sleepover (this becomes tradition till the Hale House gets rebuilt and becomes a sort of headquarters that foster supernatural children that lose their families and have no where else to go).

All in all, it wasn't a bad surprise as surprises from his pack go.

Ted Lasso 3x9 Thoughts

This one might be tied for favorite episode of the season for me. While I’ve been mostly willing to vibe with the jam-packed episodes, I approached 3x9 with a bit of concern; if it felt like the story was getting bigger instead of smaller here in the final third of the season, I was going to start to lose my patience. (To translate: I am an impatient person but I'm also a pretty long-fused person, and me starting to lose my patience would be akin to someone with a short fuse going fucking ham on someone.) Luckily, I felt like each thread here spoke to the other threads really neatly, like watching a cohesive conversation take place in multiple rooms. Magically. 

For this one, I'm gonna attempt some bullets that cover 3x9 itself, then I need to attempt to process this weird experience of MISSING TED (while also basically appreciating what he's doing, but missing him, but appreciating him, lawjefpawoijfapweoijafwepklajwef) that has me very :eyesemoji: about the next three weeks of my life.

Nate’s desire for connection and camaraderie didn’t overshadow his ability to recognize that Rupert was trying to manipulate him into a toxic night out! There will be consequences for pulling away, and he knows it, but he did the right thing anyway. I’ve seen some discussions and arguments re: Jade’s influence on Nate and whether we should attribute Nate’s backbone and ability to make better choices to the love of a woman, and whether that’s disappointing and belittling to both characters, but I think a lot of those positions (on either side) are too hard-and-fast. Nate has always valued the things he values, and his relationship with Jade hasn’t changed his values or the fundamental truth of who he is. At the same time, being physically and emotionally close to a person you trust feels really, really good. Why shouldn’t those good feelings have a positive impact on the reserves of strength you must draw on to do things like stand up to an evil asshole you hadn’t entirely let yourself notice is an evil asshole? Nate in all his multitudes has always been Nate; Nate who is in love is able to see himself more clearly. If we were all only allowed in our real lives to experience character growth purely independently, we wouldn’t get very far.

I’ve been thinking a lot about influence and obligation when it comes to Rebecca’s storyline, too. I was a little afraid, after 3x3 and the way she initially responds to Tish’s prophecies, that Rebecca would end up a lone actor, in a sense, tracking down clues and answers at the expense of fostering her actual existing relationships. While I’m still curious and nervous and excited about what all of it means, I really appreciate that Rebecca has shown up for people this season, especially here in the latter half. Rebecca is almost certainly being driven a little crazy by the unfinished parts of what Tish told her, but she isn’t isolating herself. In calling Roy out for his avoidant behaviors and lack of accountability for the press conference (and, of course, the way his work performance mirrors his decision to leave his relationship with Keeley), she demonstrates accountability as a boss and as a friend. I don’t need to see Rebecca conducting meetings or writing emails to know she’s working, but it felt really important to me to see her get upset with Roy, both professionally and personally, and break through his exterior. Ted, Trent, Phoebe, and even Keeley have chipped away at it this season, but the epiphany required Rebecca being Rebecca. And the energy between Rebecca and Roy is very !!!

I loved the way the Nate-Rupert-Jade, Rebecca-Roy, and Roy-Isaac(-Will!) interactions all reinforce the idea that no one has the full picture of what is happening in another person’s brain, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t act on truths as they are revealed, as difficult as it may be. 

As a queer person who is thankfully many years removed from the most stressful coming-out experiences I’ve had (although of course there are still plenty of moments of having to explain or identify oneself to another person—it never really ends—I consider myself “out” in that everyone in my life who I care about knowing knows I’m queer, and, so long as general safety is established, I feel able to explain it to additional people in most contexts without much or any stress), I really loved and appreciated Colin’s storyline here. Very little about my identity or place in the world resembles Colins, but so much of this episode resonated. We’ve already seen Colin describe his relationship to his sexual identity to Trent, and within that same conversation he spoke about not wanting to be a spokesperson with the pressure of publicly representing gay men. I absolutely love that the framing of the locker room scene respected those desires; he tells his teammates and coaches he’s gay, but we the public aren’t part of the several seconds that the literal announcement occurs. We get to see the freedom and relief the truth brings him, but the lessons of this episode are for the people around him. 

The downside of writing this a couple days after the episode airs means I’ve read a lot of discourse, but I don’t think this episode did a disservice to Isaac or Colin. The writers room in s3 included writers specifically experientially equipped to tell this story, and to me, it shows. It shows in the realism of Isaac’s well-meaning questions (which Colin wouldn’t have answered so graciously if Isaac wasn’t so genuinely curious and caring!), and the tiring ways that queer people are burdened with conversational “obligations” and explanations that are just different than what straight people deal with. Ignorance and awareness exist on an incredibly long spectrum, and for me this story was affirming, not traumatizing, beautiful, and yet it also included the exhausting imperfections that cloak even the most positive coming-out experiences. 

I’ve also been thinking a lot about Ted’s speech. Basically ever since Colin said the thing about Grindr in s2, I’ve been certain Colin would come out as gay to the team and reckon with being closeted in the context of the men’s Premier League. And literally since he made that little comment, I’ve been nervous about how Ted would react. I already knew he was a politically progressive person who identified himself as an ally, so I wasn’t afraid he’d have some kind of bigoted rejection reaction. But I did worry that his reaction would be sooooo cringe and try-hard and awkward that I’d legitimately run into issues writing and posting fiction about his obvious latent bisexuality on our home away from home, Archive of Our Own. And while Ted’s seven-layer-dip Denver Broncos analogy WAS cringe and try-hard and off-base, I absolutely loved how unflinchingly imperfect it was and how, despite those imperfections, his instinct re: the point he actually wanted to make was spot on and extremely valuable. If a white, middle-aged, (past-tense-ish hahahahahahaha I’m so normal about the word “was”) straight man who’s worked in sports his whole life had figured out the perfect thing to say, I’d have rolled my eyes at the screen. It felt realistic to me that he desperately wanted to find an analogy or connection point, immediately regretted it, and still—because of who he is when the din of his thoughts gives way actual clarity—managed to articulate that it’s very, very important that Colin’s community actually cares about who Colin is and that he was able to share this information with them. It’s the difference, in many ways, between being doomed to continue to feel like you have two lives (because you’re surrounded every day by people who look past something important to you or pretend not to see the differences) vs. knowing that even if you never come out to the entire world, you aren’t splintering yourself because you’re able to be your whole self around the people who actually matter. Anyway, the speech was imperfect and unwieldy, and that was the point, and his actual message was essential for everyone in that room to hear, and that was the point, and I will be capable of continuing to write fic in which Ted is attracted to men without his reaction to Colin haunting me. (I actually already have an idea for a future fic in which he reflects more, but that’s literally a story for another time.)

At this point in the season, I feel so curious about, um. What is happening. With Ted Lasso. The guy. In both s1 and s2, I felt about a millimeter away from him at all times, even when he wasn’t onscreen. This season, he’s so intentionally obscured. Getting to go to that museum in Amsterdam with him—and, perhaps even more importantly, the Yankee Doodle Burger Barn, and perhaps even more importantly than that, the back of that bus—was a relief and a reconnection point that was much needed, but I am absolutely FASCINATED and MYSTIFIED at this point in time at just how effective and maddening it is that I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how he truly feels about himself and the people around him. Like, I would obviously love to watch him be in love with Rebecca. But I would also love to watch him be in love with a place, or with two places, or with coaching, or with his partially-lost Beard, or with the words and images that have come to him in visions, or even with the unhealthy things that pull at him, like booze and stewing and obsession. Basically every episode—at least for me—contains some glimmer of connection, to his self or to one of his friends, and it’s always fleeting, and I’m holding onto the almost certainty of the fact that the decisions he has to make are going to require some kind of visible reckoning. Most of my nerves about the final three episodes of this show as we know it are related to these questions. 

As for this episode, I don’t think I’ve quite captured the FEELINGS I felt while watching it. (I also completely failed to go into Ted sharing his biscuits with Keeley and continuing his perfect streak of making it super weird whenever he shares biscuits with a non-Rebecca person. I LOVED IT.) This was the episode that made me the most audibly squeal-y this season. And the most curious about how Ted has managed to get so far into his own brain that I actually miss him on his own show! Very curious stuff. What are the next three Tuesdays going to do to my brain and heart?

THE LETTER - An Epilouge To Fourth Wing - Part 1 - Part 2

Story Summary-

Twenty year old Sloane Mairi, sister to Liam Mairi, and daughter of Colonel Mairi and Isaac Mairi, Awaits her brothers first letter of his second year, before she can leave for the Riders Quadrant and see him again.

I sit in my room that I share with four other, younger girls, along the window seat where I have just received a new book from the market in Alrysben. I should be packing what I can in a rucksack, but I'm reading, because if I don't read what I have now, I never will.

Xaden sent a letter telling me to pack light, no books, whatever knives I still have from my mother, as well as my Tyrrish Stone that my mother gave all the marked children before the execution, because of course Xaden knows I still have it, both Liam and I do, it's the only thing we still have from our mother.

All of my other possessions consist of things Xaden, Liam and my fostered sisters have gotten me for my birthdays over the years, as well as my letter book-  it consists of every letter I've received since I was six- and the few things Lady Burnam has gotten us.

Though Lady Burnam is a temperamental woman- when Eya was here, she had had more than a few screaming matches with her - she is kind to all of the younger girls and boys that live with us.

At least I can see Liam in a few days. I think as Kahla and Bryn run through the room, playing what appears to be pretend dragon riders, Helena sits down next to me, her bobbed red hair bouncing as she slumps, then places a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey, have you finished packing yet?" She's two years younger than me, and the only other I share the room with. I shake my head and close my book.

"I still have a few days," I pause, then look up to the door, where the mail carrier sits, divying up who's mail is whose, "I'm trying to read what I can of this book before I leave."

She scoffs, "Read, read, read, that's all you ever do, Dear Dunne, you won't last in the Quadrant." Her gaze shifts, "If only they'd let you become a scribe."

I shrug my shoulders and breathe through the impending fear that seems to stay in my chests these days.

Fynn opens the door, his hand over his eyes, "Are you guys dressed?" He asks. When Bryn shouts yes, he picks her up from behind the door, "Good!" He spins his little sister around. He'll be leaving with me for the Quadrant, and hopefully, I pray, he will cross the Parapet safely.

I clear my throat and gesture my hand to the open door, and Fynn sets down his sister, his skin is dark, like Bodhi or Xaden, but a tad bit lighter, "Right, sorry, Lady Burnam wants all of us that are leaving to come down to her office." He answers. I nod and dust off my stuffy uniform from home-study as I set down my book.

I glance back to Helena, and nod with a smile, then call out to the girls before I exit, "Don't be too much trouble for Helena while I'm gone! I'll be back you know!" I call out, and the girls giggle.

We walk the long halls in silence, I don't know Fynn well, but I know he fought like hell to make sure he got here with Bryn. The last six years haven't been easy, I know I miss Liam every day, but at least Fynn and Bryn weren't apart.

"Are you ready?" He asks, trying to fill the voided silence.

I let out a self-deprecating laugh, "Me? The five-foot-six, skinny, blonde daughter of Colonel Deriana Mairi, who sucks at doing anything but swinging with a sword, ready?" His pace slows and he worrys with his hands.

"You're good at stuff, like a lot of stuff, and you're great at battle practice, well not Emek great, but you're good!" He tries to comfort. He continues walking, the asks another question, "Are you excited to see Liam?" I nod eagerly.

"It's going to be great, Xaden wrote me a few months ago saying that he bonded a red daggertail named Deigh."

"Xaden still writes?" He asks with a slight laugh.

"Well he writes me for Liam, to make sure that we are both doing okay, and also because we grew up in Aretia together, so we're kind of close." I respond.

"Ah, I can't even remember the last letter I got from him, it was before he left, but after his first check in letter." When we had all been separated, Xaden, Garrick, Liam, and Bodhi had all sent every marked child of the Apostate, a letter to check in, ask how we were settling in, and if we were sleeping good.

We reach the end of the hallway, where Lady Burnam's office sits, filled with the three other boys who will leave with me for the Riders Quadrant.

Lady Burnam turns in the chair that she sits in for all but six hours of the day. "Good Evening dears!" She clasps her hands together, and smiles, "Have you all finished packing?" I am really tired of getting asked this question today.

Everyone else nods in murmered agreements besides me. Lady Burnam turns her hand in a gesture, "Sloane? Is that right? Did you finish packing?" I shake my head, and answer.

"No ma'am, I'm going to pack tonight."

She nods, her green gaze catching mine, "Good, good. Well that's all I really wanted to check in with, well, that, and to wish you all good luck, I'll be praying to Zihnal for all of you."

We all give quick thanks before we are dismissed. Dinner starts in an hour, and it might as well be our goodbye dinner, despite that being in three days, when we board a cart for Basgaith.

When I renter our room, the girls are sitting reading through their history textbook, and Helena is sharpening a Tyrrish dagger.

I fall back onto my bed, and let out an exasperated sigh. Helena looks up from sharpening, and twists her head like an animal; "Are you okay?" I nod, my arms splayed out above my head.

Bryn and Kahla squirm up on either side and hug me tight. "We're gonna miss you Sloane." They whimper into my sides. I reach down and stroke their long, braided hair. Bryn's is a long fishtail, and Kahla has a short two strand.

"I'm going to miss you too." I whisper. One of the servants walks in and smiles, it's Dahlia, and she urges the girls upright.

"Come on you two! It's bath night! I've got bubbles, and-" She rattles a box, "wood incense!" The girls sit up and rush to follow her out of the door.

So... what about Isaac?

Isaac Lahey - One of my top 5 favorites in Teen Wolf. When he first appeared in season 2 and with the traumatic past he suffered under his diabolical father, I felt the utmost sympathy and empathy for him. Losing his mother, and then his older brother Camden, to have an abusive and narcissistic father beat and lock him up in a box down in the basement against his will just made me want to be there for him and help him.

Isaac definitely intrigues me alot because despite being turned into a werewolf and going from Derek’s first beta to becoming Scott’s beta and one of his closest friends demonstrates how he builds his relationships. It's when Scott in season 2 states that he doesn't want him to get hurt is when Isaac's mind and soul started to heal and open up. Even more so when he helped Scott with a terminally ill dog by healing the canine with his healing factor, and Isaac began opening up more and more. How he combines his werewolf status mixed with his sarcastic and salty attitude (funny moments by the way) with his sensitive and heartwarming compassion that he wants to be friends with Scott (maybe even love him), he wants to be friends with Stiles (despite their sarcastic witty battles), he wants to be friends with Allison (and love her despite the tragedy that calls forth her fate) and the rest of the pack is because he wanted to help and care for others because he lost that experience while growing up, and he wants to gain that but also give it to others because he is a person.

Isaac is often cynical and cautious to newer people but once you've been within his circle many times he opens up because now you are apart of his life. I have watched him grow from being a hurt and abused child to a renegade, cynical and strong beta under Derek to being a witty, sarcastic but compassionate and good natured person within seasons 2, 3A and 3B.

If he had stood in for seasons 4 and 5 he could have been a valued friend and mentor for Liam alongside Scott. Isaac, being Scott’s longest beta not bitten by him would have helped Liam grow while being like a older sibling to him and still lived between his foster mother Melissa and traveling between the McCall residence and Argent residence to navigate between feeling loved and cared for while being a strong werewolf and person. Season 5 would have definitely been a strong point for Isaac since he may have looked at Theo's manipulations from the start (no offense to Theo lol) unless the death of Allison was used against him and he would have met Malia, Mason, Brett, Lori, Satomi, and the others who would have fostered more relations with.

#35. What is one essential thing to remember when writing a villain?

This is an excellent question. There is one thing, when writing villains that I feel an author must never forget, because to me it's the literal difference between a villain and an antagonist or even a morally-gray or morally complex character.

THEIR VICTIMS.

Conflict is the soul of stories, and in conflicts, characters are going to be hurt either emotionally or physically, sometimes by others, sometimes by themselves. Heroes can be forced into situations where they have to kill another person or they can be forced to choose between two equally unpleasant outcomes. Antagonists can have legitimate reasons to hurt others or even kill their enemies. A character with deep flaws can make decisions that hurt the people who care about them or are part of their lives. But villains have victims: individuals who are hurt as a means to an end, whatever that end might be, who would never be involved in the story without the villain expressing their will-to-power.

Let's look at some examples. Teen Wolf is my fandom, so I'll use the villains of that show.

If the lies that Peter Hale had told in Season 1 had not actually been lies, i.e. "I was out of my mind" and "Only the responsible ones," he would not have been a villain. Scott may have felt that he had to stop Peter's plan for revenge, but that would have made him an antagonist. But if Peter truly had bit Scott in a fit of moon madness and then said "Oh, shit, I involved a perfectly innocent boy in all this" and not mentally and physically violated him repeatedly, there would be a legitimate argument that he wasn't a villain. If he hadn't murdered the school janitor or savaged Lydia or tried to force Scott murder his friends, then there might be grounds for arguing that he was just an antagonist. But he did Bite Scott on purpose and he did murder people who had no knowledge or involvement in the Hale fire, and he did use Lydia in a degrading and sadistic manner. He's a villain.

This distinction is why I consider Derek Hale an antagonist in Season 1 and a villain in Season 2. In season 1, Derek manipulated and bullied Scott, but Scott was already involved. Derek was doing what he thought was necessary -- avenging his sister -- though I have to stress that he certainly wasn't "trying to help" Scott. The only lead he had was Scott McCall, and while his behavior was downright reprehensible, he didn't create the situation in which he found himself. This changes in Season 2 with Jackson, Isaac, Erica, and Boyd. He knew that Kate's death would bring repercussions, he knew that the Alpha Pack would be coming, he watched Gerard declare war, he had the means to avoid it, but he went and involved four teenagers anyway. Their deaths, and the deaths they caused, are an expression of his will to get what he wanted, when they wouldn't have been involved without it. Boyd might be lonely, Erica might be dealing with epilepsy, Isaac might be in foster care, and Jackson might be nursing a bruised ego, but they wouldn't have faced what they did without Derek's decision to manipulate them into getting the Bite. That is what makes him a villain.

What does that mean for other villains? Theo was manipulated and kidnapped by the Doctors. Monroe crossed the line out of ignorance. Meredith suffered from true mental illness. None of these stories are simple. It's not supposed to be simple, which is why the key always comes back to the victims: Carrie, Zach, Edgar and the people like them who never chose to get involved, who weren't the protagonists, but were hurt anyway.

That's why fandom vanishes the janitor from Night School (1x06) when trying to turn Peter into a morally-gray character rather than a serial killer. That's why fandom vanishes Jackson's claws to Allison's throat when they try to make Scott into the villain rather than Gerard in Master Plan (2x12). Fandom cannot deny that the victims are what make the villain.

When I want to make a villain in your writing, I ask myself which people are they hurting who would not have been part of the story without the will of the character I am identifying as the villain?

Before the ministry summoned them, Atlas' life was rough. They had two brothers, Hades, their older brother, and Cronus, their younger brother, leaving Atlas in the middle.

All was well and good until Atlas' mother, Viviana, suffered severe head trauma during a car crash, leaving her lifeless. After their mother's death, their father, Isaac, went down a path of alcoholism. Isaac got blackout drunk often, leaving Hades to take care of his younger siblings.

With the grief of losing his mother, Hades also went down a path of addiction. But this time, it was pain medication. His siblings were none the wiser, only knowing that Hades would take some kind of medication for the joint pain he experienced occasionally. Atlas thought it was odd that he would take them so often, but never inquired about it.

A few months after Atlas' 16th birthday, Cronus found Hades lifeless on the bathroom floor. An overdose. Cronus tried for about 15 minutes to get his brother awake, finally deciding to go get his older sibling. Woken up and still somewhat groggy, Atlas stumbled to the bathroom, led by their little brother. They tried a few things that they knew would always get him up, messing with his tail, tugging on his hair a bit, even biting his arm. All things that would've gotten him up in a heartbeat. An anxiety filled Atlas took their brother's palm in their hand and pressed down on his wrist, trying to feel a pulse. Nothing.

They told Cronus to go try and wake Isaac up while they called an ambulance. The paramedics tried everything to re-animate Hades, but with no results.

Atlas and Cronus had to bury their mother, and then two years later, their older brother would be buried right next to her.

Isaac's alcoholism got worse with the passing of his eldest son, often lashing out at his children. Atlas had to protect themself and their brother, often fighting with Isaac, which resulted in many a bruise. Atlas never let Isaac get anywhere close to Cronus. Ever.

About two months after Hades' passing, Atlas was summoned to the ministry, leaving Cronus to fend for himself. Atlas would've never left their brother if they had the choice, but they had to.

Cronus, only 11 at the time, packed his things and ran away from home. Being found in the street and sent into the foster system, Cronus' life was a mess. Bouncing homes until his 18th birthday, when the foster system stopped caring about him. He got kicked out of where he was staying, leaving him to couch surf until he found a stable job and a place to call home.

After about two years, he finally was stable enough. He had his own place, a job, everything to be a somewhat stable adult. But the ministry needed an earth ghoul. So, a few months after his 22nd birthday, he was summoned.

Waking up in the middle of a large room, surrounded by other ghouls, he scrambled to stand. Only to practically be tackled by his now much older and much taller sibling.

With greetings from all of the ghouls, and a big hug from Atlas, they got him acclimated to life at the ministry.

Isaac had been looking for his would have been family for years, ever since he had turned 18 and had been allowed to look for them or have any contact. What he thought would have been as simple as calling the numbers he used to have for them, was difficult because numbers had changed and life had moved on, what he hoped was for the better for Waylon and Banks. It certainly was not for the better for himself as the blood relative that took him in was not the best home for him. In fact, it probably could not be worse and it certainly wasn't happy. He wondered why they had even stepped forward at all as it seemed like they didn't want a family after all.

The family he had ended up with liked their alcohol and drugs and didn't end up wanting to raise a then teenager who would have rather been with the family he had come to love. Isaac had been pulled from his biological parents when he was only 4 years old due to neglect and he had bounced around foster homes for a bit before he landed with Waylon when he was 7 years old. He helped welcome multiple foster kids into the home, all of whom were reunited with their biological families or had found permanent placement elsewhere and he didn't really understand why he couldn't go with them at first. This was until he witnessed a disgruntled family member try to forcibly take back their child from Waylon, injuring the man he had come to know as his father, that the memories that his brain had hidden from him, that he realized he was home. Things were going well and he was thriving under Waylon's care and things only got better once Banks arrived in their care.

He loved Banks, as a little brother he had always dreamed of. Isaac dreamed of being a family officially and it almost happened for him when Waylon asked him if he wanted to become official and be adopted by the older man who had already filed the paperwork for Banks. Isaac's situation was a little more complicated as he still had 'family' fighting to take him and one day, at 16 years old, just about ten years since he had been taken, he got the news he would be sent back to his mother's sister and brother in law, his aunt and uncle, who he had never met. They were awarded custody of him, even though he said no, that he didn't want to go. He was old enough to make his own decisions, according to him. The court didn't care and he was taken from the only family he had ever known.

Isaac wasn't cared about though, that much was obvious. Just like his parents, his aunt and uncle were consumed by drugs and alcohol and used him to get more, in whatever way they could. The minute that he turned 18, he got out of there and tried his best to find Waylon and Banks, however they had moved since and he was told no to getting any information. He dedicated his future to getting back to the only family he had ever known. He became a blogger, which started when he had used the blogging site to just write about his experiences and found that people were drawn to his writings. He decided to use that in order to find his family and it finally worked.

He had found them, well rather, found Banks, which meant he found Waylon. He packed his bags and his laptop and left his New York apartment. He found a flight and now he found himself standing outside of the door of the person he thought of as a brother once upon and time. He knocked on the door and waited for it to open before speaking. "Hi...uh this may sound weird...." He looked up.

Here’s My Favorite Ship And The Fanfic Events It Inspired...

To say that the online space is becoming more and more unsafe would be a bit of an understatement. Watching the degrading state of social interaction in the internet and the rise of bigotry and hatred sometimes there is an urge to step back completely but instead I think I’m just gonna take the plunge and see what happens.  I’m gonna tell you about my favorite ship and all the fics it’s inspired that I haven’t finished writing yet. This will also expose me as a fanfiction writer and get me put on the appropriate block list (if you know you know).

It’s all below the ‘keep reading’ line for those interested.

My favorite pairing is from MTV’s Teen Wolf and it’s NigelLeedsxIsaacLahey or Niac as I call it. Yep it’s OCxcanon!  Nigel Leeds is a direct descendent of Mother Leeds thirteenth child; that’s right he’s a Jersey Devil. My Teen Wolf world Jersey Devils gain their power from killing and eating people or supernaturals though they can eat pretty much anything. At the age of ten you are supposed to move off beef and chicken instead starting to WILLINGLY eat people to help you grow big and strong but Nigel refuses and suffers a very miserable, painful life as a result. Eventually, years later, he still hasn’t broken, still refuses to eat people but the abuse has worn him out. Thanks to his sister though instead of laying down and dying he runs away.  Ending up in Beacon Hills just before season one starts and through a turn of events he ends up in the care of an Argent that disowned the family after the Hale house incident as their ‘foster child’. Which leads to a lot of awkward moments when Chris and co move to town. Eventually Nigel meets bisexual disaster Isaac and the two fall in love. One of my favorite dynamics is how Nigel, in human, is borderline dainty than Isaac and there are some cute comments about it but when Nigel is in his Devil form he is near nine feet and can carry his werewolf boyfriend like a purse dog.  From there life is hectic for the pair. Not only the stuff that happens in the series but for the first time in a long time Nigel finds out that he has somewhere he belongs when Scott declares to Nigel’s father, the most powerful Jersey Devil currently alive (who came to Beacon Hills to kill Nigel for daring to try to be his own person) that Nigel is a part of Scott’s pack so the true alpha is more than willing to go toe to toe with the man to keep Nigel safe.  That’s when Nigel has his own ‘true alpha moment’ where through his connection to the pack and his love Isaac he awakens his own true strength becoming the equal to his father. Turns out the reason why Devils get the most strength from eating humans and supernaturals is because their soul is starved of the strength that comes from connections. When they eat a human they devour the soul as well and gain the strength from the connections the person had but because they are secondhand connections they get spent and the Devil’s soul starves again. Turns out Nigel is what the original Jersey Devil could have been if it had been nurtured by Mother Leeds rather than left to it’s own nature to survive.

But there are smaller things that happen in the stories that warm my heart to think on: - Isaac falling in love with the outdoors through camping with Nigel. - Nigel, thanks to his Jersey Devil strength and stamina, working double or when he can triple jobs to put Isaac through college without them having to worry about tuition, books, or student loans. - Isaac becoming a park ranger to not only continue his love of the outdoors but given they end up getting a place right near the park be able to run the cover that is necessary from time to time when raising their young family.  - Yes, Nigel has kids through surrogates to help ensure his line continues with the new lessons Nigel has learned and continue this new breed of ‘California Devils’. - Nigel sitting their teenage daughter down to explain to her how, yes, getting tangled up with werewolves leads to nothing but trouble and Isaac agreeing.

And yeah...that’s the basics of things. I won’t lie while I was typing this out I felt honestly borderline afraid to post this. Who knows what types of horrible responses this will get me.  Oh well.
