The sport club where I'm an administrator always had lot of new clients reaching out to us with very stupid emails. Like I can't believe that you don't feel the need to disclose at least your knowledge about the sport (I don't even ask for your age or when and how much do you want to go to training sessions), it seems that just me...

So I decided to write a nice little text on the website under coaching information, talking about the different coaching forms and costs, and asked nicely the new clients to say in the email their age, knowledge, how many sessions they want and on which days.

Oh boy... they can only get our email adress either from this page, in that case it's always worrying when I get an email saying 'Dear Sir/Madame, (the freaking classic Hungarian female name is there!) I want to learn the sport. Is that possible? Bye' like, can't you read? And what do you think a sport club that has 'coaching information' is for?

The other way is simply looking at the Google page, that is when I get an email like this: 'Hi, is it possible to get a coach? How much would it cost? Can I get equipment? And btw when is the club open?' Girl... there is a website with answers for all of these. You didn't even tried to get answers, wouldn't that have been much more easier?!

On the positive note, I don't even have to read the 'I'm a German student' because the only thing missing in those emails is the adress of their previous club, and I'm pretty sure they didn't even need my little text to write down all the information in nice bullet points.

You might know this tiny frog.

This is Mini mum (photo by Andolalao Rakotoarison), a species I had the pleasure to name—together with a team of amazing colleagues—back in 2019.

That was the start of a fascination with the process and consequences of miniaturisation for vertebrates. How the hell does this tiny frog manage to fit all of its vital organs—more or less all the same senses and organs that we have—into a package the size of a tic-tac‽ Why and how has it evolved to be so small? And why don't we get frogs that are much smaller?

Well, I just secured 1.5 MILLION Euros (!!!) in the form of a European Research Commission Starting Grant, to answer these and other related questions in the genomes of Mini frogs and other miniaturised vertebrates.

Because it turns out, there are *lots* of miniaturised vertebrates, and they push the boundaries of how small we think it is possible for a vertebrate to be! Here is a little graphic of some of them, scaled to a BIC ballpoint pen.
