Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 198
Sharp Teeth/Hide
“Sharp Teeth”
Plot Description: Garth is in the hospital after mutilating a cow and being hit by a car, but Garth runs away — with a dark secret in tow
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: look, if Garth is barely surviving running through the woods, getting shot at, and hit by a car…I don’t know if I have it in me
I forgot that they split up…
Sam…don’t. slap. Garth.
He was HANDCUFFED TO THE BED. HOW DID HE GET UP??
What is this episode??? Garth ran away, stripped down naked, and stole a car. What were you doinggggg???
Dean…why are you lying to Sam again???? You have photos of Garth (not naked…but just boxers. Wouldn’t have taken him for a boxers guy) oof. That’s probably the quickest one of their lies has been found out
Omgggg, Deeeeean stop with this whole “we can’t hunt together because I’m poison” thing. I hope to for that this doesn’t last too much longer
Excuse me?? Does….Garth’s a werewolf now?? And he has a werewolf girlfriend??
MARRIED?!?! He met this girl just after becoming a werewolf and within two months MARRIED HER? They’re…kind of grossly cute together
This is the least cool werewolf pack I’ve ever seen. No one’s even asking anyone where they’ve been, loca
Aww, they cooked the food for Dean. That’s nice
Noooooo, Garrrrrrth. I know you couldn’t know but…don’t bring up Kevinnnn, not to Dean
Wait…the cop is a werewolf TOO?? Uh oh…he’s part of the pack (or was….before Dean threw a silver knife into his chest)
I’m guessing there’s something fishy with Garth’s wife’s stepmother…I think she’s behind the whole dark underbelly of keeping the image of the pack squeaky clean (because this is supernatural and it’s pretty misogynistic)
Oh this is interesting…it’s not a pack, it’s a CULT trying to bring about Ragnarok and also eradicating human beings (whether feeding on or turning them)
Yeah. I knew it wasn’t the reverend who took over this weird group, he was bitten…it has to be his fourth generation werewolf wife whose father was the old reverend
Yeah, this was very predictable. Didn’t know she had a brother who was killed by hunters, but that would make the more recent interest in werewolf dominance more understandable
She really had to get her villain monologue out, ruining any chance she had at pulling off her scheme
Yes, Garth, don’t let Dean think he’s the only one who let Kevin down!! Take some of that weight off his shoulders
I do wish we had gotten just A Kevin and Garth episode (or a Kevin, Mrs Tran, and Garth episode, really)…Garth called Kevin his friend
Please stop pretending that you don’t miss each other.
Dean…I know that’s basically your catch phrase “we’re family” but like…you’ve now betrayed Sam’s trust…probably as badly as he did yours back in season 4
YES, Sam, set that boundary!
“Hide”
Plot Description: something haunts Caliburn House and the Doctor finds himself part of the ghost hunt
It took me just the tiniest bit too long to get the “I’m the doctor” “Doctor what” “if you like” joke
It’s kind of fun that he came here INTENTIONALLY to ghost hunt
Is this just an episode to parallel this ghost hunter dude and his assistant with the Doctor and Clara? Both pairs are flirting so awkwardly, it’s nauseating
I would like to carry a candelabra through an old mansion just ONCE…but no ghosts (my phone tried to autocorrect that to ‘no gojo’ or ‘no ghostfacers’. Brilliant)
You know, just as I was about to say that I was bored, things got interesting, and we’re REALLY digging into these other characters AND the ghost
Omgggg. I hate this. The girls are strictly talking romance while the guys are talking about war and death and guilt….
Oh, Clara. But like….I get where you’re coming from. It IS overwhelming to be able to see the whole life of Earth from the same spot in snippets. Yes, the TARDIS is amazing but…it has the potential to be such an easy way out, such a shortcut for the Doctor instead of taking time. He LITERALLY just takes and takes and takes time, and it feels like he doesn’t care
Well, that certainly isn’t terrifying. You don’t KNOW? You know the ghost you’ve been hunting is actually a time traveler stuck in a pocket dimension but you don’t know the thing she’s running from??
Sure. We’re just going to pop into pocket universes like it’s nothing, now…
I miss when this show was low budget :/
Oh no… he’s stuck there…
My bet’s on the thing being sympathetic. It’s HIDING from the Doctor
Another Clara?? Oh the TARDIS interface thingy. Man, the TARDIS REALLY hates Clara
Please don’t tell me he leaves and Clara gets stuck instead. You can’t do this twice
K. NOT sympathetic, just playing with him
This mansion and its grounds are gorgeous in the daylight
Oh, the monster IS sympathetic I guess?? It was looking for it’s lost love
This episode was really…….weird, and not in the normal cool way

“Biggest market in the universe!” The Doctor announced as he flung the doors of the TARDIS open, though he paused at the sight in front of him. It definitely was a market, not Earth, but the lack of people and no more than ten stalls probably hinted towards it not being so big. He glanced back towards the console, and the TARDIS whirred in response. She had brought them there on purpose, whatever for, and for a moment he had to smile. Hundreds of years had passed and she could still surprise him.
Amy had her arms crossed beside him, and he watched as she huffed in annoyance before his smile dropped. An annoyed Amy was not something he found pleasant. In fact she could get quite scary. “Not very big, is it?”
“Well… no, but-”
“You’ve landed in the wrong place again, haven’t you?”
The Doctor huffed and straightened his jacket as he stepped out of the box, Amy in tow. “It wasn’t my fault, I can fly her just fine,” He jutted his chin out in defence. “She brought us here. I suppose someone wants to see us,” Amy was still frowning, so he rolled his eyes as he moved an arm around her shoulders and led her forwards. “Come along Pond, don’t pout.”
“Everytime we land somewhere that we’re not supposed to, something bad happens.” She grumbled.
“We’re in a lovely little market, Amelia, I’m sure nothing is going to-”
“Stop! Thief!”
The yell that broke off The Doctor’s words came from a few market stalls away, and he ignored Amy’s “I told you so” look as he leaned up in an attempt to see where the shouting was coming from. A few more shouts followed, before a middle-aged woman broke through the market stalls in front of Amy and The Doctor. She looked frightened, eyes wide in fear, and for a moment she just looked so familiar, but realistically he knew that he had never seen this woman before in his life. She was human, or at least she looked human; she was probably around Amy’s height, with considerably tanned skin and long blonde hair. But her clothes were from all over the place, all pulled from different time zones and parts of the galaxy. The most notable piece was the black jacket she wore, that had clearly come from the twenty-second century on earth. Part of him wondered how she had managed to travel to another planet before humanity had even spread among the stars, but he remembered Amy stood beside him and shook his head. Maybe she was a traveller like Amy, who was travelling with somebody else. Another shout followed, much closer, and the woman stumbled closer to them.
“Help me,” She seemed close to tears, and that was all it took for Amy to have stepped forwards, gesturing the woman over with a concerned look. “Please.”
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Amy guided the woman over, and just as The Doctor was about to ask his own question, a few officers stepped out in front of them, guns in hand. The woman visibly flinched, and The Doctor gently pushed her behind him.
“Woah, is there a need for guns? Really?”
“She is a thief, and she will need to be apprehended.” The closest officer spoke, in the language of the Rogell people he realised, but when he looked back at the woman she was frowning.
“That’s not true,” She whispered, frightened as she gripped onto Amy’s arm. “They’re lying.”
The officers stepped closer, guns raised, and The Doctor pushed Amy behind him as well whilst he frantically searched through his pockets. “Hang on! Don’t shoot!” His fingers clasped around what he wanted, and he pulled out his psychic paper and turned it towards the officers. “I’m Officer John Smith and this,” He reached back and patted Amy’s head. “is my associate; Ms. Pond. We’re with the Shadow Proclamation, and we’re here to apprehend this thief ourselves. She’s off your hands.”
The officers looked unsure for another moment, but as soon as the first officer lowered their gun, the rest followed. None of them said anything as they all walked away, and The Doctor breathed a sigh of relief as he turned back to the girls.
“Alright, that was a close one,” He chuckled, though the woman was still frowning. “What?”
“Are you actually with the Shadow Proclamation?”
The Doctor shook his head with a grin, and showed her the psychic paper. “No, they just think I am. It’s-”
“Psychic paper, nice,” He blinked at the woman’s remark. If she was human, how could she have known it was psychic? He shared a confused glance with Amy as the woman carried on. “Good trick, I need to get myself one, it’d keep me out of a hell of a lot of trouble.”
The Doctor cleared his throat and nodded as he stuffed it back into his pocket. “Okay, so um-” He waved a hand in her direction.
“Y/N.” She supplied.
“Y/N, why were those officers framing you for theft?”
The woman laughed, relaxed, and pulled a necklace out of her pocket. Why did he know so many thieves? “Because I stole this.”
Amy giggled beside him, and he shot her a glare. “Oh my god, you just helped a thief! That’s great,” She patted his shoulder, before she moved closer to see the necklace, her fingers stretched out to touch it. “That’s gorgeous.”
The necklace looked familiar, and it only took a moment for him to realise what exactly Y/N had in her hand. “Wait Amy don’t,” His eyes widened in a panic as he smacked her hand away (and ignored the look he got in return) before he snatched the necklace from the woman’s hand, despite her protests. “Is that… how did you get a warp star?” There shouldn’t have been a warp star being kept in a market of all places, especially if it wasn’t kept safe enough to be stolen by a thief.
“I stole it, don’t you listen?” She huffed and tried to snatch it back, but The Doctor kept the necklace out of her reach. The last thing he needed was for someone to get their hands on that, especially someone unreliable. He knew nothing about this woman, but the fact that she had stolen something and tricked him into helping her didn’t really get her into his good books.
“What’s a warp star?” Amy asked beside him.
“It’s a warp fold conjugation trapped in a carbonised shell, disguised as a normal necklace,” He explained, but sighed at Amy’s confused expression. “It’s a contained explosion that can be detonated, it’s a disaster waiting to happen..”
“Yeah, and it’s mine.” Y//N glared at him, but he shook his head
“No. I don’t know why a warp star would be on a planet like this, but I can’t leave it here. An old friend of mine almost destroyed a whole Dalek Crucible with one of these, it can’t be left just lying around,” The Doctor carefully tucked the warp star into one of his many bigger on the inside pockets of his jacket to make sure it would be safe before he could find a home for it on the TARDIS, before he clapped his hands together. “Right, I’ll put this somewhere that it’ll be safe. And I’m gonna drop you off somewhere that you’ll be safe.” He gestured to Y/N, and watched as she frowned in confusion.
“Why? You told them you handled the situation, they’ll lay off.” She shrugged.
“They’re Rogell people - love themselves a bounty, so you’ve probably got one over your head right now. Best to get you out of here so we don’t find out,” He didn’t want to scare her by mentioning that the bounty was to kill her, as he seriously doubted that she was from the planet. “Alright, come on, this way,” He gestured towards the TARDIS, and led the woman behind Amy to step inside. “Now, tell me, where’s home Y/N?”
Once they were in the box he stepped around the girls to move towards the console, and hoped Amy would deal with the oncoming “It’s bigger on the inside”. But there was nothing. No gasp, no questions, no surprise. He turned around to face her and she was leaning against the railing, unbothered. It was like she either hadn’t noticed, or she was used to it. But she couldn’t be, it was Time Lord technology. The only other people in the universe that would be used to it were the Time Lords, and they were all gone.
“Home? Sorry, no can do,” She shook her head, but for a moment The Doctor just stared at her in confusion. He had to admit, he liked the wonder that the TARDIS gave people. It was disappointing when there was no reaction. He shared a look with Amy, and she looked just as shocked as him. “What? Never met a runaway before?” Y/N scoffed.
“And what is there to run from on Earth, exactly?”
Y/N practically recoiled from his comment, her face twisted in disgust. “You don’t think I’m human, do you? That’s just insulting!” Amy scowled, but she seemed to ignore the redhead. “Wait, do I actually look human? Please say I don’t.”
The Doctor scrunched his eyebrows together as he looked at her. “If you’re not human then what are you?”
“Bit of a personal question, don’t you think?” Y/N raised her eyebrows at him, and opened her mouth to say something else, though she paused as her hand searched her pocket. A groan passed her lips, and she pushed herself off of the railing. “I need to grab something that I forgot, hold on.”
She had already started walking out of the TARDIS, so The Doctor just scrambled to follow after her just in case there were bounty hunters nearby, but Amy caught his arm before he could leave.
“Doctor,” The redhead was frowning in confusion. “It’s a bit weird, isn’t it? The TARDIS didn’t bother her, she could see the psychic paper, and she’s not human? Who is she?”
The Doctor sighed, and shrugged as he led Amy out of the TARDIS with him. “I don’t know. I’m figuring it out.”
The market was quieter as The Doctor and Amy started to follow after Y/N, oddly quiet. It honestly made him uneasy as he glanced around at the people there. He shot them a smile, but they all just stared as he walked past them. Something was wrong, and he didn’t want to stay any longer than necessary. His hand gently curled around Amy’s forearm to keep her close. They had already lost Rory, not that she remembered of course, but he didn’t know what he would do if he lost her too.
“Stay close,” He spoke just loud enough so that Amy could hear him. “As soon as we have Y/N we’re getting out of here.”
Y/N emerged from an empty market stall just as they walked closer, relief spread over her expression. “Alright, got it. We can go now, Smith.” He opened his mouth to tell her that John Smith wasn’t his real name, though he simply stared at what she had in her hand.
“You came back for that? That’s scraps!” It really did look like she had just taped together a bunch of different metal parts into a sort of… oblong shape.
“Hey, it’s not scraps!” Y/N pointed the oblong at him, and once she had pressed a button the end lit up in a bright purple and made a whirring sound. But that sound was too familiar, like everything else about her, and The Doctor’s eyes widened as he stared at her. “It’s a sonic, you moron.”
“You…” Nothing about her made sense. She wasn’t human but looked human, the TARDIS seemed like she had walked into a shed instead of a bigger on the inside time machine, and she had a sonic oblong. “How do you have a sonic screwdriver?”
“Sonic screwdriver?” She laughed. “What idiot makes a screwdriver sonic?” If she noticed that his expression had dropped into a scowl, she didn’t mention it. “It’s a sonic.”
“A sonic what?”
“Just a sonic.”
“Well that’s a bit rubbish isn’t it?” The Doctor scoffed, and took the sonic thing from her hands. She had clearly built it herself, but… no, it couldn’t be. He moved it closer to his eyes to inspect the pieces there, and looked back up at her with a shocked expression. “This is Time Lord technology. How do you have Time Lord technology?”
Y/N huffed and snatched the sonic from his hands and stuffed it back into her pocket. “You don’t have any boundaries on people’s stuff, do you?” She glared at him and opened her mouth to say something else, though the market around them fell completely silent as a gunshot pierced through the air and dominated the noise. The Doctor flinched and felt as Amy grabbed onto his arm in surprise, and for a moment the silence dragged on.
Until Y/N dropped to the floor beside them.
“Nice shot,” Y/N groaned as her arms covered her stomach, her eyes squeezed shut in pain. “Normally they- they have to shoot a few times before they hit me.”
The Doctor fell down beside her on his knees, his eyes wide as shaking hands moved to gently touch her arm. Oh god, not again. He couldn’t have someone else die under his protection. First Rory, and now her too? His hands carefully pulled her arms away from her stomach to see where she had been hit, and cringed at the wound. Blood had already stained through her shirt, sticking the material to the gunshot wound. Her arms, which had moved to cover the wound, were covered in her own blood. His face paled at the realisation; if he didn’t do anything quickly, then she was going to die.
“Y/N,” His voice was shaky as he looked up at her face. Her eyes had slipped shut, and he placed his hand against her cheek gently. “Hey, look at me, you’ll be okay. I’m gonna help.”
She squinted her eyes open to see him, her breathing heavy. “I’m fine, just go.” She grunted.
“Doctor, what you said about the bounty, it was one of those guards.” Amy’s panicked voice came from behind him, but he couldn’t focus on her. He had to keep Y/N alive.
“Hey, don’t give up now,” He forced a smile, and pressed his free hand against her stomach to stop the blood flow, and tried to ignore the gasp of pain that left her lips as he did so. “I have a med-bay on my ship, I can help you.”
“John, I’m fine, please-“
“That’s the spirit, you’ll be fine,” The Doctor removed his shaking hand from her cheek, and crouched beside her as he worked an arm underneath her knees, and the other behind her back. “Amy, get the TARDIS doors open.” His voice was strained, and once he heard her footsteps running to the box he got his footing and lifted Y/N into his arms.
“Please,” She was crying, he realised as he looked down at her, and tried to keep her steady as he walked, but he didn’t miss her quiet grunts of pain as he accidentally jolted her whilst he walked. “I’m- I’m fine- just leave me-“
“No,” He grit his teeth as he reached the TARDIS, and kicked the doors shut with his foot as he carried her inside. “I’m not leaving you to die.”
Amy was stood by the console with a panicked look on her face, the same look she had when Rory had been shot, and he winced at the thought. That wasn’t helping. He couldn’t get emotional now, if he had learned anything over the years it was that being emotional got people killed.
He hadn’t even reached the steps up to the console when Y/N flinched in pain, and caused him to fall to his knees, leaving her on the floor. Her entire body was trembling, her skin covered in a light sheen of sweat. There was no doubt about it; she was dying. His breathing came in short breaths as he looked down at her, his jaw clenched as the familiar feeling of tears tingled along his waterline. He noticed that Amy had ran down towards them as soon as Y/N had hit the floor, and she crouched on the woman’s other side.
“John,” Y/N gasped, and at that point he didn’t have the heart to tell her that it wasn’t his name. “You- you need to get away from me.”
“No, come on, we’re almost there we can help you-”
“I don’t need your help, I can fix myself. You need to step away or I’ll hurt you.” Her words trembled with the pain that she was in, but he could tell in her tone that she wasn’t lying. His eyebrows had furrowed in confusion to what she meant, but the oncoming words died on his tongue when he saw that her hands were glowing.
Oh.
Oh.
But that wasn’t possible. The Time Lords were all dead, he had killed them all during the Time War. It was impossible that he had a Time Lord in front of him… though it was all making sense. She seemed familiar since he had seen her, even if he didn’t recognise her face, and she hadn’t been surprised by the TARDIS, and she had her own sonic. His eyes met hers, and he couldn’t help the emotion that shoved it’s way through his chest and made his eyes fill with tears. She was a Time Lord… a regenerating Time Lord.
“Amy, get back,” His hand reached for his friend’s arm, and he quickly helped her to her feet. He stepped back, stumbling up the stairs towards the console, before he stopped her in front of the seats. “When it happens, duck behind here.”
“When what happens?”
“Can’t miss it, Pond.”
Y/N had stood up at that point. Her whole body trembled as she stretched her arms out, her breaths coming in sharp inhales and exhales. Her eyes met The Doctor’s, and she smiled. “Sorry in advance.” She breathed out.
“For what?”
“The mess.” With that, her head was forced back by the blast of regeneration energy, and she screamed as the golden glow exploded from her limbs. Her body almost completely fell back with the force of the regeneration energy, and she didn’t stop screaming the whole time. It was odd, watching somebody else regenerate. He had been on his own for so long, without the Time Lords for so long, that he had forgotten what it looked like to see somebody else regenerate.
The explosion of power had started sparking things in the TARDIS, smashing glass as the room trembled, and he ducked down beside Amy on the floor, where she had covered her head with her arms. He covered her head with his own arms too, and didn’t move until the regeneration had stopped.
It took him a moment to force his arms away from Amy and to get to his feet. When he stood up, he would be stood face to face with a Time Lord (that didn’t want to kill him) for the first time in hundreds of years. Could he have known her back on Gallifrey? Were they friends? Was she going to hate him for what he did? Amy seemed to sense his apprehension, as he felt her hand against his arm, and only with her support did he manage to bring himself to his feet.
The newly regenerated woman looked completely different to her previous face. Her age had lessened, not drastically, but she looked to be no more than a few years older than Amy. She had gotten smaller, too; which he only realised due to the jacket that once fit her, as it hung from her frame unevenly and too big. She took a moment, her hands against her chest as she breathed heavily, and he didn’t take his eyes from her as she started checking herself over.
“Doctor…” Amy hadn’t let go of his arm. “Did she just-“
“Yep.”
“But that means she’s a-“
“Yeah.”
“But you said-“
“I know.” The Doctor took a deep breath himself through the nerves that settled in his stomach. Y/N had said that she was a runaway, like him, so had she fled when the war got too much for her?
“Wow, okay, haven’t done that in a while,” Her voice had changed too, he realised. It was smoother than before, less… screechy. She took a look down at herself, and once she had adjusted her jacket and noticed that her trouser legs were longer on her she groaned. “Oh come on, I’m short? I didn’t want to be short, I hate being short!”
The Doctor stepped away from Amy and down the stairs towards where Y/N was. She looked up at him as he approached and grinned, gesturing around her.
“Sorry for the uh, for the explosion. I’d pay for damages and all but I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate stolen money,” She chuckled, before she paused. “Do I steal anymore? Oh god, please don’t say I have morals now.”
Y/N moved to step towards him, though her leg gave out and she fell with a light gasp. He hurried forwards and caught her before she hit the floor, and sent her a reassuring smile. “Gotcha, you’re okay.”
“Sorry, steering’s a bit off, I always forget about that,” She cleared her throat, and stood up properly again. “Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, morals-“
The next time she fell it was because she passed out, and once again he caught her before she hit the floor. She was limp in his arms and he gently eased an arm underneath her knees to hold her up against himself.
“Is she okay?” Amy sounded panicked as she leaned over the railing to look at him.
“She’s fine, it’s just the excess of regeneration energy running through her system. You saw what I was like when we first met; you either go like that, or you shut down for a while,” He took in a deep breath as he cradled her to his chest, and started to head up the steps. “I’m gonna get her settled in a spare bedroom, I know I’ve got some knocking about somewhere.”
-
The Doctor was getting a headache, and he never got headaches. The whole situation hadn’t left his mind for the two-days-and-counting that Y/N had been asleep. He was assuming that she hadn’t regenerated in a long while, which was why she had slept for so long. He had offered to drop Amy home, because he couldn’t leave the TARDIS with Y/N there, but the redhead had refused. He hadn’t seen her much since, so he assumed that she had been entertaining herself in the games room.
At first, the thought of there being another Time Lord left was exhilarating - he wasn’t alone. For hundreds of years he had thought that he was alone in the universe, aside from The Master, but that had never ended well. But there was someone else. They could have been friends once on Gallifrey when they were children, or fought beside each other in the war. The realisation that he wasn’t alone had been amazing.
Until he sat and thought about it.
He had been the one to end the war, to kill all of the Time Lords. They were alone in the universe because of him, so did she blame him? Once she knew who he was, was she going to resent him? Would he be alone again when he inevitably ran far away from him?
He’d had days to ponder it, and eventually the thought had strangled him so bad that he had to land the TARDIS just to get some fresh air and calm down. It was somewhere in the English Countryside, he realised when he opened the doors, and inhaled deeply as he sat down on the step of the TARDIS, his shoes in the grass.
He hadn’t realised that Amy had come over until she sat down beside him, and he pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head when he felt it settle against his shoulder, fiery hair tickling his chin. He felt guilty, since she was there, that he had left her alone for two days whilst he drowned in his own self-pity, and gently moved an arm around her.
“What’s wrong, raggedy man?” The nickname made him smile softly into her hair, and he closed his eyes as he leaned against her. “Is it about Y/N? I’m sure she’s fine.”
The Doctor shook his head, and sighed as he opened his eyes again and looked out of the doors at the countryside. “She is fine,” He nodded. “She’ll be splendid once she’s had a good sleep, and she’ll be back on her feet in no time.”
“Then what’s wrong? I know that face, I can tell something’s up. Maybe I can help.”
“Oh Amelia,” His Amelia, who had been wanting to follow him up to the stars since she was a little girl. The first face his face saw. How he loved her. She was so selfless, without even realising it, and he was so thankful that she would always be there for him. But this wasn’t something she could help him with. The weight on his shoulders from the war had settled there for so long, he couldn’t ease any of it off and give it to Amy. “I’m afraid this is something I have to sort on my own.”
“Then I’ll listen. What’s on your mind?” Amy had turned to face him, and he could see in her eyes that she was one-hundred percent serious. It made him smile to know that she cared so deeply for him.
The Doctor shifted to face her properly too, with his back against the open door of the TARDIS, and gently took Amy’s hand when it was offered to him. “I’ve told you about the war… what I did,” She nodded in response, and he took in a deep breath. “I thought that there was nobody left, that I was on my own. And I mean, of course I’m happy there’s someone else. Even if she’s, uh, picked up some illegal tendencies. I’ve got a book on law in the library that she can have a read through, when she wakes up I’ll pop in and-“
“Doctor, you’re getting off track.”
“Right, yes, sorry,” He sighed and rubbed his face with his hand. He stayed silent for a moment as his fingers fidgeted with Amy’s, but she didn’t rush him. She stayed silent and waited for him to speak again. “When she finds out what I did… that I was the one who… she’ll resent me and I- I don’t know what to do. Or what if she does stay? I don’t know if I could look her in the eyes every day knowing that we’re the last Time Lords because of me. It’s different when I was alone, I could ignore it, I didn’t have to look myself in the face every day, settled as a reminder of being the last.”
Amy didn’t respond at first, and just pulled him into a hug. He didn’t realise how much he needed the physical contact until then, and buried his face into her hair as he gripped onto her tightly. Despite the English Countryside sat out in front of them, Amy gave him his first breath of fresh air in days, and his eyes closed again as he leaned against her.
“Doctor, I think she’ll be just as relieved as you are that she’s found someone,” Amy mumbled into his shoulder. “I know you hate being patient, but I think you just need to wait until she wakes up and see what happens. I’m sure it’ll be okay.”
-
It was another ten hours before Y/N finally woke up. Amy had gone off to bed a few hours before, and he had tried to distract himself by playing some tennis in the console room, but he discovered quite quickly that it wasn’t as fun with just one person. The console had flashed pink, letting him know that Y/N was awake, and he looked up as she approached from the stairs that led to the bedrooms. She was still in the same clothes as before, minus the jacket. He noticed the bloodied bullet hole on her shirt, and realised he’d need to take her down to the wardrobe so she could get some new clothes.
“Hey, glad to see you awake.” The Doctor sent her a smile, and tried to ignore the feeling that began to strangle him again.
“Yeah, sorry about kind of exploding earlier and everything,” She laughed, and stepped down towards the console. “I didn’t scare you, did I? Humans tend to be freaked out by that.”
The Doctor blinked at her. “You think I’m human?” He’d have thought that the TARDIS would have been a pretty big sign that he wasn’t. “That’s really rude! I have a TARDIS!”
“Yeah, I know! I think it’s pretty amazing what you Time Agents can get your hands on these days.”
“Time Agent?” The Doctor scowled and crossed his arms. “That’s insulting, I’m not a Time Agent.”
Y/N raised her eyebrows at him, questioning. “Then what are you?”
The Doctor hesitated. This was it, the defining moment of whether she’d hate him or be happy to see him. He took in a deep breath, and stepped towards her slowly. He held his hand out towards her, palm up, and met her confused eyes. “Give me your hand.” She gave him her hand after an odd look, and he gently gripped it between his fingers before he placed her palm against his chest. His hearts were drumming wildly against his ribs; there was no way that she couldn’t understand.
“But…” Her eyes met his, wide, and she kept her palm against his chest for another moment. He could see the focus in her eyes as she counted the beats. “You have two hearts… that’s impossible.” Her eyes started to fill with tears, and after a moment she pulled her hand away and stepped backwards. “You’re… you’re a Time Lord.”
The Doctor nodded slowly, and a soft smile made its way to his face. “Yes.” He swallowed.
Y/N stared at him for another moment, her chest rising and falling rapidly. “But I- I don’t understand… I’m the last, I didn’t think there was anybody else…” She ran a hand through her hair and exhaled deeply, and the next time she looked at him she was grinning. “You’re a Time Lord!” She was laughing, and before he could even respond she had flung herself at him in a hug. Her arms were tight, and her relief bled through the hug and right through to him. The Doctor held her as tightly as she held him, his face pressed into her shoulder as she squeezed him.
Neither of them let go for a long moment, and The Doctor sighed as a smile crossed across his expression. He had assumed he would never feel like that again; filled with a sense of familiarity that only Gallifrey could give him. He’d found his kind again. The thought was enough to spin her around in the hug, and she giggled as she squeezed him even tighter before she let him go.
“I thought I was alone this whole time, blimey this is brilliant!” The Doctor grinned, and bounced on the balls of his feet as he looked at her.
“I ran away from home as soon as I was old enough; I’d just turned one-hundred and managed to snag a vortex manipulator, and just went wandering. And then I heard about the war and I couldn’t bring myself to go back… and then Gallifrey fell and I kept on running. But then my bloody vortex manipulator broke so I got stuck on the planet where you found me,” Y/N was rambling at an intense speed, and for a moment The Doctor wondered if that was what it was like to speak to him. Amy would have probably said yes. “Oh but this is amazing, I can’t believe there’s someone else!” She pulled him into another hug, and his smile fell slightly as he held her close.
“and then Gallifrey fell…” He winced, and swallowed thickly as he leaned back enough to look at her.
“Y/N, what’s your name?” He asked. “The name you chose, I mean.”
She paused for a moment and shook her head. “I- I don’t know… I’ve been running for so long that I forgot, I guess… I remember my real name, my Gallifreyan name, but there’s only one time I’d be able to tell you that,” She smirked, before she paused. “Oh, am I flirty now? That’s new, never been flirty before.”
He managed a brief smile of entertainment before he cleared his throat. “My name is The Doctor,” He paused for a moment, and didn’t miss the way her face fell. “And I… Y/N I’m sorry but I-“
He cut himself off when she hugged him again. But it wasn’t like before, all giggles and tight squeezes, it was an embrace. Full of comfort and sorrow. He held her carefully, strangled by the nervousness again. When she had finally pulled back to look at him, there were tears in her eyes.
“Oh Doctor,” She gasped. “I know what you did… I’ve heard stories but, but I assumed you didn’t survive either…” Y/N didn’t look angry or resentful towards him, if anything she looked apologetic. “I’m so sorry you had to do that, I wouldn’t have been able to. You’re so brave.”
The next time they hugged was because he pulled her into him, and held her tightly as he squeezed his eyes shut. Over all of the years since the war, the reactions to what he had done were mixed. Some people muttered “genocide” under their breath with a dirty look, others were angry, and some were even disgusted - but nobody had ever been sorry. The apology settled a lump in his throat, and his next smile was easier as he held her close. “Thank you.” The words were thick with tears, and only a moment longer he held her, before he pulled back and wiped his eyes with a deep breath.
“Right, you need new clothes,” He needed a moment to himself to be emotional alone, and she really did need new clothes. “Go down that corridor and turn right four times, left once, and past the arcade is the wardrobe. Can’t miss it,” He send her a grin, and she returned the expression with a nod. “As soon as you’re dressed and Amy is up - you’ll love her, but I’d be careful not to set her off as she can get quite frightening - we can go wherever you like. All of time and space.”
Y/N smiled and nodded her head. “Thank you.” She leaned up and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, gave him one last smile, before she turned and headed towards the wardrobe.
The Doctor cleared his throat and wiped his eyes with his palms, despite the smile on his face. His fingers brushed against the console as he walked around it, occasionally pressing a few buttons to prepare the TARDIS for flight. “Right old girl, we might have some extra company for a while.” The ship whirred in response, and he grinned as he pulled a lever.
He wasn’t alone.

Chapter One: Family Time
Rose leaned back into the drop cloth-covered couch and looked around the room. Her mum and Pete had purchased a house in Cardiff, and she and the Doctor had spent all day painting and cleaning. After two months spent monitoring the lingering effects of the Reality Bomb, the domesticity was jarring.
A sharp pain hit Rose between her shoulder blades, and she grimaced and rolled her shoulders. Every muscle in her body ached. She was in good shape, but she didn’t usually spend hours holding a paint roller over her head.
A moment later, familiar hands settled on her shoulders and started massaging the tension away. Rose sighed and leaned forward so the Doctor could get that spot in the middle of her back.
She enjoyed the massage for a few minutes, then reached for his hand and tugged, asking him silently to sit down with her. He collapsed beside her, looking every bit as tired as she felt. He had a smudge of dirt on his cheek and his hair stuck straight up.
“What have you and Pete been up to?”
“Putting together the furniture for Tony’s room.” The Doctor rubbed a hand over his face, smudging the dirt even more. “I need to create a setting on the sonic for Allen keys. Those belong on a list of forbidden torture devices.”
Jackie’s snort interrupted Rose’s teasing response. “And here I thought you were some kind of superior alien,” she said as she entered the room, carrying two tall glasses of water. “How the mighty have fallen—defeated by an Ikea flat pack.”
Rose listened to the Doctor’s internal debate, weighing the merits of defending himself against the likelihood that Jackie would dump the glass of water over his head. In the end, he only rolled his eyes and said, “Thankfully, the fate of the universe has never rested on my ability to put together furniture named after obscure Scandinavian locales.”
Jackie handed them the water and sat down on a folding chair. “Speaking of strange places, we haven’t seen Jenny and Donna lately. Where are they at now?”
Rose blinked. “You’ve seen them?”
Her mum raised an eyebrow. “You would have seen them too if you hadn’t been off to Neptune doing whatever,” she retorted. “They stopped by a few weeks ago before catching a plane to New York.”
Rose sipped at her water to cover up the urge to sigh. The trip to Paris had whetted Jenny’s interest in seeing more of the Earth. By airplane, she’d insisted, because that was how humans did it.
Donna had been happy to travel the world with her. Rose suspected the trip was a way for her to keep her mind off the fact that they still hadn’t found Lee. Four months had passed since the Library, and the TARDIS still hadn’t picked up even a trace of him.
Rose abruptly realised her mum was staring at her expectantly. It only took her a second to remember what they’d been talking about.
“They’re in Sydney,” she said. “They’ll be back for your big housewarming party, but they really wanted to see Australia before coming home.”
“Hah!” Jackie wagged her finger at Rose. “Now you know what it’s like, having your only child go off travelling by herself.”
Rose pursed her lips. “It’s not that,” she argued. “Well, not only that,” she amended. “It’s fun having other people on the TARDIS with us. I miss it.”
“What do you miss?” Pete asked. He pulled a second folding chair over and sat down beside Jackie.
“Having friends travel with us.”
“Apparently I’m not enough company,” the Doctor added, earning a poke in the side from Rose and a snort from Jackie.
“More like you’re a bit too much,” Jackie countered. “Can’t imagine being married to an alien.”
“No, you just married a man from a parallel universe,” Pete interjected.
Jackie rolled her eyes, then looked at Rose. Rose groaned at the look in her eye. Interrogation time, she warned the Doctor.
“Speaking of marrying an alien…” Jackie raised an eyebrow and looked at Rose, then at the Doctor, and back again. “You mentioned something about weird alien rituals.”
Rose opened her mouth, but before she could start explaining the bond, her mother started rambling.
“I’ve been thinking, maybe you had to wear funny hats? Or defeat someone in armed combat?” She pointed at the Doctor. “Maybe Rose had to go back in time to ask your family for your hand in marriage.”
“Nothing like that, Mum,” Rose said quickly before Jackie could continue on that train of thought and bring back painful memories of Gallifrey.
“Well, what was it then?” She narrowed her eyes. “You better not have been naked for this wedding.”
“No! We were fully clothed.” The Doctor felt his neck heat up.
Help!
Rose took his hand and he let out a slow breath. “Leave ‘im be, Mum,” she scolded. “It was mostly just like a wedding. I wore a beautiful dress and we exchanged vows and rings and everything.”
“Well that doesn’t sound too weird.”
“Yeah…” Rose squeezed his hand and he squeezed back, agreeing with her sudden decision. I was mostly teasing when I said that.”
Jackie crossed her arms over her chest. “So your wedding was completely normal?” she asked, dubious.
Rose bit her lip. “Well, we were alone in the TARDIS,” she said slowly. “And we did a handfasting because that’s part of the Doctor’s tradition.”
“Hmmm…” Jackie raised an eyebrow.
Rose knew she didn’t believe her, but explaining the bond was a far longer conversation than she wanted to have right now. Some day she’d try, but not today.
“It was perfect,” she said, wanting to move away from the alienness of their wedding.
As she thought about that day, something occurred to her. “And our wedding anniversary is only two weeks away,” she added.
The Doctor blinked, and she was glad she wasn’t the only one who’d lost track of time. “We’ll have to go someplace to celebrate.”
“Mind if I plan this trip?”
He smiled and brushed his thumb over her wrist. “I’d love it.”
“Rose?”
The childish voice drew everyone’s attention, and they all looked over at Tony, standing in the doorway.
“Yes, Tony?”
He shuffled forward, a book in his hand. “Will you and the Doctor read to me?”
The Doctor scooted over and patted the cushion in between himself and Rose. “You bet!”
The little boy grinned, then darted across the room and jumped up onto the couch. Rose grabbed the book from him before he could stab himself in the eye with it or something.
“Under the Deep Blue Sea.”
As Rose turned to the first page, she suddenly knew exactly where she wanted to take the Doctor for their anniversary.
oOoOo
The Doctor followed Rose as she pushed her way to the front of the crowd waiting at Heathrow. “The board says their flight landed half an hour ago,” she told him. “They should be almost through customs by now.”
When the first passengers started trickling in a few minutes later, the Doctor gave Rose one end of the sign they’d made. Around them, other people likewise held up their signs—Limousine for Mr. Arbuckle, etc.
The trickle turned into a solid wave of people. “Can you see them, Doctor?” Rose asked as she strained to look through the crowd.
“No… Wait! Yes! Hold the sign up, Rose.”
They waved it madly, and a moment later they were rewarded by familiar laughter. Rose leaned sideways and saw Jenny and Donna walking towards them, wheelie bags in tow.
“TARDIS for Miss Noble and Miss Tyler?” Donna rolled her eyes.
The Doctor turned the sign around and studied it. “Well, we wouldn’t want anyone else to think they could get a free ride.”
“We told you we’d take the train to Cardiff, though,” Jenny said.
Donna nudged her gently with her elbow. “You owe me ten quid, Jenny. I told you they wouldn’t be able to resist surprising us.”
The Doctor’s mouth fell open, and when he looked over at Rose he was thankful to see that at least she was as surprised as he was.
Jenny hitched her backpack up on her shoulders. “I still say giving them the flight information was cheating.”
“I didn’t realise we were so predictable,” the Doctor muttered.
Donna smirked and turned her suitcase so he could take the handle. “We just know you too well.”
Rose shook her head and grabbed Jenny’s suitcase. “Come on, we should get out of the way. The TARDIS is just a short bus ride away.”
Thirty minutes later, the Doctor unlocked the door and held it open while Rose, Donna, and Jenny walked inside. He heard Donna and Jenny sigh in unison, and raised his eyebrows at them.
“Glad you don’t have to take a train after travelling for over twenty-four hours?” he guessed.
“Definitely,” Donna said fervently.
“And glad we can hop into the Vortex and get some sleep without Gran knowing we didn’t go straight to Cardiff,” Jenny added.
The Doctor and Rose exchanged a glance, then Rose gave Donna and Jenny a sly smile. “About that… Are you set on going to Cardiff?”
Donna crossed her arms over her chest. “The housewarming party is next week. I’ve only met your mum a few times, but I have a pretty good idea of what will happen if you miss it.”
The Doctor grimaced and rubbed at his cheek, making everyone laugh.
Rose chuckled and shook her head. “Yeah, you’re right about that. But our anniversary is the day after tomorrow, so we’re going on a short holiday before the big shindig. We can drop you in Cardiff for the week, or—”
“Or,” Donna said before Rose could continue.
Jenny nodded eagerly. “You mean you’ll drop us off on another planet, yeah?”
“If you want,” Rose said.
Jenny and Donna exchanged a look, then broke out in matching grins. “Yes!”
Rose hugged Donna and kissed Jenny on the cheek, then gently pushed them both towards the corridor. “Go lie down. We’ll drop you off in the morning after you’ve slept off some of the jet lag.” She leaned against a strut and watched them go, while the Doctor sent them into the Vortex just like Jenny had asked.
He slid the dematerialisation lever into place, and the time rotor quietly chugged up and down. The transition into the Vortex was so smooth that Rose hardly felt it.
A soft mental tug caught her attention, and she looked over at the Doctor. He’d sat down on the jump seat, and now he patted the seat beside him.
Rose pushed off from the strut and walked around the console, hopping up to sit beside the Doctor like she’d done a thousand times. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and she leaned into him.
“What are you thinking?”
“This life,” she said, talking slowly so she could put the words together as they came to her. “It’s… so much more than I thought it would be.”
She paused, and the Doctor left the silence empty so she could think.
“I thought I’d lost this at Canary Wharf,” she said finally.
“Lost what?”
“Just… human things,” she said, testing the words as she went. “Helping family move. Meeting them at the airport.”
She tilted her head back so she could look at the Doctor. “I love our life, traveling through time and space. And if I could never have anything else, this is what I’d choose. Every time.”
“But we get to have more,” he supplied, understanding what she was trying to get at. “Our life in the TARDIS, and a family on Earth.”
“Yeah. Time and space… and family.”

Note: everybody say it with me! Fluff fluff fluff angst fluff! I apologise for the sloppiness of this, but sometimes my brain just doesn’t cooperate yknow?
-  -  -
The streets were busy, filled with countless creatures and species, all bustling about in their daily commutes, market shopping and socialising.
The Doctor had taken you to a planet you couldn’t quite pronounce, promising colour and vibrancy from not only the people who lived there, but also the planet itself. The grass sparkled, clear like diamonds and shining brilliantly under the turquoise sun. The air tasted sweet, faint traces of sugary sherbet on your tongue every time you took a breath.
Beside you The Doctor rambled on about the planet’s history and the life forms that inhabited it, but her words went in one ear and right out the other, your focus too captured by the way the pavement beneath your feet hummed a tune with each step you took forward.
The strangers around you smiled, greeting each other politely as they crossed paths. The atmosphere felt welcoming and warm, inviting you deeper into the intriguing world you had been brought to.
To your left were stalls of different kinds, selling everything from odd looking food you imagined were types of fruit to livestock consisting of animals that talked and hovered and danced. On your right stood a tall and proud building containing restaurants of all kinds of cuisines, all of them unfamiliar to you, it’s walls covered with glorious art, colours you’d never seen before enveloped each brick right to the edges.
Out of all the places The Doctor had taken you before, this was by far the best. Here you felt calm and delighted, and with so much to see and explore, you never wanted to leave despite the fact that eventually your real home would be calling you back.
“And that’s why they call it the-“ The Doctor stopped dead in her tracks, her arm reaching out in front of you as a signal for you to also stop walking. “Do you hear that?”
“No…” you listened out for something, anything that seemed out of the ordinary. But it was so busy around you, voices and laughter filling your ears, it was hard to make out just what The Doctor was talking about.
“Listen.” She twirled on the spot, focussing her ears in different directions until she narrowed down the location of the sound she was hearing.
“Doctor, I don’t hear-“
She took off running before you could finish your sentence. You forced your feet to chase after her even in your moment of confusion. “Doctor, wait!”
She continued running quicker than you’d ever seen her run before, darting from left to right, in between stalls and pushing past pedestrians in her way, mumbling a sorry to them as she stayed in motion.
Your legs began to cramp up, your chest heaving for a proper breath. You kept up as best as you could, almost losing her in crowds a few times, but ultimately spotting her in a different spot not even seconds after and following in the seemingly uncoordinated and unplanned path.
She came to a standstill once again and you almost crashed into her in surprise, your breathing laboured, but hers barely above average. She looked around in the new place you had found yourselves in, a different part of the endless market and still just as busy, watching The Doctor’s face contort into something of discomfort as she kept an ear out for the sound you couldn’t hear.
“Doctor, where are we-“
“There!” And she was off again.
You huffed in irritation, your burning lungs silently pleading to The Doctor to slow down and give them a chance. You followed, pushing through the pain of exhaustion, and found her crouched down in an alleyway behind what looked like a generator for the building it was attached to.
“It’s okay, I’m here now.”
She stood, a bundle of blankets in her arms. She slowly walked over to you, never once taking her eyes away from whatever she was holding, her expression soft and a small smile on her face.
“I’m going to take care of you, okay?”
The blankets moved and out popped an arm. The arm of a baby, it’s skin a shade of pink, it’s tiny and chubby hand reaching out to touch The Doctor’s face. You watched in awe as the timelord bounced in her spot, rocking the cooing baby back and forth, keeping it calm and content.
“So that’s what you heard? A baby?”
She nodded, finally looking up at you. “He was crying.”
You frowned, still confused. “But how did you hear him from so far away?”
She shrugged, returning her gaze back to the baby. “Parental instincts, I suppose.”
You opened your mouth to speak, to ask even more questions, but she began to walk off before you could.
She spoke to the baby as she made her way back through the crowd, asking him questions about what his family looked like and what his name was, all the while keeping an eye out for distressed parents looking for their son.
The baby gurgled back and she nodded in understanding, replying to him as she understood exactly what he was saying. You, of course, had absolutely no idea at all.
You twisted and turned through the market streets, searching for a clue as to who this baby belonged to. According to The Doctor he had been taken from his crate by someone who mistook him for goods at a stall and left behind when the thief had peeled back the blanket and realised their mistake. You assumed ‘crate’ was an alien word for cot, although you never could be sure with other planets and their odd ways of living.
“Here, hold Rax for a moment while I use my sonic to scan the place.”
“Rax?” You held out your arms to receive the baby, bringing him close to your chest.
“That’s his name.”
“How do you know that?” You looked at the baby now known as Rax, admiring his emerald green eyes, watching as they sparkled under the light of the sun. He gave a toothless smile and made grabbing motions with his hands, something that made you return the smile.
The Doctor span in a slow circle, her sonic buzzing with life and searching for the child’s parents. “I speak baby.”
You gave her an incredulous look, not that she saw it, and sighed. “Of course you do.”
She gave her sonic a once over and huffed when it came up with no answers. She took the baby back from you and set off in the direction of the TARDIS, leaving you to follow in tow.
-     -
You sat against the blue box, your eyes closed and your face pointed towards the sky, the warmth of the sun on your skin. Beside you sat The Doctor and her new best friend, the baby.
You’d been sat there for hours waiting for the crowds of the market to thin out as the day went on, deciding it would be easier to spot the parents with less people around, and the entire time the timelord had chatted away to the baby and laughing when he replied back.
You tried not to feel annoyed by the lack of attention The Doctor was giving you in favour of talking to a baby, but it was proving hard. After all, it wasn’t the baby’s fault you couldn’t understand it and join in on the conversation and The Doctor was completely oblivious to how she had shut you out, but after spending so much time travelling with her, just the two of you, you’d come to enjoy and crave her constant attention.
You hadn’t noticed before now that your entire life and all your feelings revolved around her, your entire being consumed by her. You wanted, needed, her approval on everything, your whole self subconsciously begging her to stay near, your mind twisted into thoughts of her and only her.
It was a wake up call for sure, but you mentally hit the snooze button. You’d come back to that another day, someday in the distant future.
The baby began to cry and was passed over to you once again, The Doctor announcing that he was hungry and going into the TARDIS to make him food. You sent a quiet prayer that her food would be edible and wouldn’t harm the defenceless soul in your arms. The Doctor was a lot of things, but a good cook wasn’t one of them.
She returned with a baby’s bottle filled with an orange liquid. On Earth babies drank milk, but here you weren’t sure if this was the normal thing to give to babies or if The Doctor had gotten it completely wrong.
“Where did you get a baby’s bottle from?” You quizzed, watching her cradle the boy and feed him carefully. “And what did you mean by parental instincts?”
“I was a father once.”
Your face must’ve been quite the picture if anyone was looking, your brain almost fizzing out in an attempt to process the information you’d been given.
“No, seriously.”
She turned to you and looked you dead in the eye, her face displaying no signs of joking around. “Seriously.”
“Don’t you mean you were a mother?”
She shook her head, her eyes returning to the baby to make sure he was drinking properly. “No, I mean father.”
“But you’re…” you gestured at her broadly. “You’re a woman.”
The Doctor used the corner of the boy’s blanket to wipe at his mouth, clearing away what had slipped from his tiny lips. “And before I was a man.”
“Okay.” You took a deep breath and decided to change the subject slightly, realising you were getting nowhere. “What do you mean was a father?”
“Look, there!”
The Doctor sprung up from her spot, her eyes focused on a creature made of what looked like pink pliable stone. She cried loudly and searched frantically for something, or someone.
The Doctor ran in her direction, clutching the baby tightly so that he didn’t slip from her hold. You stayed behind and watched from the TARDIS, your eyes fixed on the timelord as she handed back the baby and was immediately pulled into a hug that looked somewhat uncomfortable.
After she said her goodbyes and wished Rax and his mother well, The Doctor came back to you. She smiled at you as she went inside the blue box, heading straight for the console to fly you away.
You followed quietly, observing as she flicked switches and turned dials on each of the control panels. The machine came to life, groaning as she took off, taking you somewhere new.
“Doctor,” her eyes fell on you, ready and waiting for your question. “Why aren’t you a… father anymore?”
Her hands stilled for a moment. Her face remained soft, but her gaze was vacant as if she was remembering something. She shook her head and smiled with tight lips the way she does when she doesn’t want to talk about something, and continued her sequence of lever pulling and button pressing.
“Why are you still asking questions? And anyway, you need to tell me where you want to go next!”
You bit your lip to refrain yourself from pushing the topic further. She was clearly uncomfortable and not likely to talk, so you thought for a moment and gave your answer.
-    -
The fire in the library roared with life, it’s heat reaching you and The Doctor on the couch you shared. Your head rested on her shoulder as she read aloud to you a book she had chosen from her endless shelves of reading material, her hand placed on your leg as a form of comfort.
You sipped on your hot chocolate, the marshmallows bobbing against your nose, your eyes following each sentence as The Doctor spoke them quietly. The evening was peaceful and calm, uneventful for the most part compared to the pace of the day, but it was welcomed gratefully by the both of you.
Her thumb stroked the skin of your knee absentmindedly, her mind seemingly drifting away as her words began to fall into silence. You lifted your head to look at her face, the reflection of flames in her eyes as she stared into it.
She nodded slowly when you asked if she was alright, never looking away from the fire. She seemed distracted and somehow nervous, something you hadn’t seen in her before.
“You know, you looked good with a baby in your arms.” You nudged her playfully, smiling brightly to lighten the mood.
She finally tore her attention away from the fireplace and looked at you, a small smile of her own being offered back to you. “As do you.”
She kissed your forehead and returned to the book, picking up from where she had stopped. You placed your head back onto it’s spot on her shoulder and closed your eyes to focus on the words, relaxing at the sound of her voice.

Changes in Time and Space - Chapter 3 - Part 2 - P6Y-362
Part II – P6Y-362
Three hours after the Doctor had talked to General Landry, SG1 and the Doctor’s companions were ready to go on their mission.
“Remember, you have to follow my orders,” Mitchell said to the companions.
“I remember,” Tamsin snarked.
The other two nodded.
“Chevron Six encoded.”
“Watch this,” Mitchell directed.
Tamsin, Kiara and Felicia watched as the seventh chevron locked
“Chevron Seven, Locked!”
The wormhole formed within the Stargate with a kawoosh.
“Wow!” Felicia gasped.
“That’s putting it mildly!” Tamsin said.
“That’s nothing compared to the experience of going through the ‘gate,” Mitchell said. “Let’s go,”
SG1 and their assistants walked up to the gate. Mitchell walked through first, followed by Teal’c.
“After you,” Carter suggested to Tamsin.
“OK,” Tamsin said. She stepped forwards, through the event horizon...
P6Y-362
Tamsin emerged on the planet designated by the SGC as P6Y-362. “That was incredible,” she enthused.
“I told you,” Mitchell said as the remainder of SG1 and their accompanying ‘specialists’ emerged from the ‘Gate.
“Wow, it looks just like a Canadian forest,” Felicia said.
“Research suggests that the Ancients and the Goa’uld both preferred this type of biome,” Carter said.
“You mean that the Stargate is usually placed in a forest like this?” Felicia asked. ‘It is definitely a beautiful view,’ she thought.
“Statistically speaking, both here and in the Pegasus Galaxy, yes,” Jackson said.
“That’s interesting,” Tamsin said.
“You have been in Canada?” Mitchell asked.
“A few times with the Doctor,” Tamsin said.
“We had to stop Ice Warriors from taking over the Yukon Territory,” Kiara said.
“Tell us more,” Carter said.
Tamsin began to tell of the adventure in the Yukon...
They started walking away from the Stargate towards the nearby settlement.
“So, we’re here to see if the Priors have been espousing Origin here?” Tamsin asked.
“Indeed,” Teal’c said.
“You read the mission brief, that’s right,” Mitchell said.
Tamsin muttered.
“She’d like more background information,” Kiara said.
Carter looked at Dr. Jackson.
“The people on this planet were brought here by the Goa’uld thousands of years ago,” Daniel said.
“Yes, but what about the ‘Gate in Antarctica? Couldn’t the Goa’uld have brought them through there?” Tamsin asked.
“How did you find out about that?” Colonel Mitchell asked, surprised. That was ‘need to know’ information.
“She pestered the records officer,” Kiara said.
“After the Doctor’s psychic paper didn’t help,” Felicia said.
“Psychic paper?” Carter asked.
“I don’t want to know,” Daniel said, referring to Tamsin’s pestering of the records officer.
“I wasn’t that bad,” Tamsin said to Daniel.
“The Doctor has a piece of paper that he uses to get past problems with officials in various places,” Kiara said.
“How does it work?” Carter asked.
“I don’t know. It probably has something to do with the Doctor’s telepathic abilities,” Kiara said.
“Anyhow, Dr. Jackson, continue,” Tamsin said.
“A System Lord ruled from here for some time prior to abandoning the planet a thousand years ago. The Goa’uld continued to raid the planet for another five hundred years before leaving it alone. After that the locals advanced to a level similar to that of medieval Europe.”
“Cool,” Tamsin said.
“They have recently developed intricate clockwork,” Daniel began.
Tamsin hung on his every word.
While Tamsin was listening to Daniel, Sam asked Felicia; “Why did the Doctor stay behind again?”
“He wanted to do further investigation of the SGC...”
The SGC
Harriman called Landry to the control room. “What is this issue, Airman?” he asked.
“There is a slight power drain in the ‘Gate,” Harriman said, he called up a computer graphic showing it.
“Do you have any idea what is causing it?” he asked.
“None.”
“Investigate.”
“Yes, sir.”
P6Y-362
SG1 and companions entered the town closest to the Stargate.
“Looks deserted,” Cameron said as they started walking up the street from the main entrance.
“Impossible. This is a major trading town for this region of the continent,” Daniel said.
“So, SG1 has been here before?” Felicia asked.
“Yes, a few years ago,” Daniel said.
“We opened relations between this nation and the US,” Carter said.
“That’s good,” Felicia said.
“The contact has inspired cultural change similar to that in the Renaissance,” Daniel said.
“So the culture resembled that of medieval Europe?” Tamsin asked.
“It was similar, but only in the broad strokes, their pantheon was and is still inspired by the influence of the Goa’uld,” Daniel said.
“Swell,” Cameron said.
“It is similar all over the galaxy, CameronMitchell,” Teal’c said.
“Don’t have to like it,” Cameron said.
“Indeed,” Teal’c said.
“Of course,” Tamsin said, annoyed at the influence of the System Lords on the Milky Way.
“We’re almost at the central square, sir. We should be walking through crowds,” Carter said.
“I haven’t noticed anyone looking out of the windows,” Kiara said.
“You sure?” Tamsin asked.
Kiara nodded.
“Neither have I,” Cameron said.
“What would cause this?” Felicia asked.
“No idea,” Carter said.
“Not a plague, we would be seeing the corpses,” Daniel said.
Tamsin nodded.
“So where did they go?” Felicia asked.
“The nearest settlements are less than a day’s journey away, but they are just villages,” Daniel said.
“Do they use the Stargate?” Kiara asked.
“Not often. It hadn’t been used for centuries when we arrived the first time,” Carter said.
“We may have to go to one of those villages. Do you know where they are?” Colonel Mitchell asked.
“Not exactly,” Daniel said.
“There’s a library on the other side of the square,” Sam said.
“A good place to start,” Kiara said.
“There may be clues as to why this happened,” Tamsin said.
Fifteen minutes later, later the team entered the town’s library. The place showed much evidence of a hasty departure, with loads of papers strewn around the many reading tables.
“This is going to take some time,” Daniel said.
“I’ll help you. I’ve had some field experience,” Tamsin said.
“Thanks,” Daniel said.
“You’re welcome.”
Five hours later the sun set and the planet’s two moons bathed the town in coloured light.
“Quite strange. A red moon,” Kiara said.
“It has a similar composition to Mars,” Sam said.
“The fourth planet in Earth’s solar system. I have been there with the Doctor. Needed a suit outside the TARDIS and the colonial habitats,” Kiara said.
“That’s the same as our Mars, except for that last part,” Mitchell said.
“Colonial habitats?” Carter asked.
“We visited in the late 23rd century,” Tamsin said.
“Quite beautiful, but barren,” Kiara said.
“I agree,” Sam said.
Daniel soon returned with Tamsin in tow.
“Have you found anything?” Felicia asked.
“Yes, there are multiple references to a Prior being here saying their usual Origin espousing spiel,” Daniel said.
“Then the Prior left, travelling back through the ‘gate,” Tamsin said.
“So what happened here?” Carter asked.
“They had heard about the Ori from their contacts through the gate. Apparently the nation had been sporadically exploring through the gate. It’s possible that the Goa’uld had left behind a co-ordinate archive like the one that was on Abydos,” Daniel said.
“The first planet you discovered, go on,” Felicia said.
“Right. After the Prior had left; they set up guards near the gate in case the Prior came back,” Daniel said.
“So the Prior came back?” Cameron asked.
“Yes. The guards saw the Prior emerge from the gate in the distance and immediately ran to the town. That’s when they evacuated the town,” Daniel said.
“But wouldn’t the Prior be here?” Carter asked.
“We think that he may have gone to one of the other villages,” Tamsin said.
“Where some of the towns’ people may have gone?” Vala asked.
“Yes,” Daniel said.
“We stay here tonight, and then set out for the closest of those villages. I assume that the library has a map of the region?” Cameron asked.
“It does. However, I must say that that village is the most likely destination for the Prior after this town,” Daniel said.
“Noted, We’ll set out at first light,” Cameron said.
“Right, sir,” Carter said.
“The sun seems to be setting faster than on Earth,” Tamsin said.
“This planet has a rotational period of just less than 19 hours,” Carter explained.
SG1 then prepared for the short night ahead.
Second day on P6Y-362
They left the deserted town, early in the morning, whilst it was still shrouded in fog.
“How are we supposed to find our way to that village?” Felicia asked. She could barely see 100 metres ahead of her.
“I’ve brought a map from the library. It clearly shows all the landmarks we need to follow,” Daniel said.
“It’s not that thick,” Tamsin pointed out.
“Not compared to fogs in the Silverpeak Mountains on Tyria,” Kiara said.
“Sounds dangerous,” Felicia said.
“No more dangerous than what we usually run into with the Doctor,” Kiara contributed.
“I suppose so,” Felicia said, as they left the town out of the gate that they had entered through the previous day.
Three hours later they neared the next nearest settlement to the Stargate and the abandoned town. As they approached they could see that this settlement was not abandoned.
“Does that map show any public meeting places, Daniel?” Cameron asked as they approached.
“There are a few meeting places around the central square.”
“Lead the way,” Cameron said.
As they walked down the main road into the village, SG1 could see that many of the people were looking at them.
In the central square SG1 approached the nearest of the meeting places. Cameron, Daniel and Teal’c walked inside. “Does anyone have any news regarding the abandonment of the Trading town near here?” Daniel asked.
There was silence in the room.
“We would like to have an answer,” Teal’c said.
There was murmuring amongst the patrons of the establishment before a young lady slipped away from a group and approached the trio. “We don’t like talking about the situation,” she said.
“Indeed?” Teal’c asked.
“I’ll say more elsewhere,” she said.
“Let’s go,” Cameron said, as he noticed most of the other people in the room getting restless.
“Follow me.”
Sam and the companions saw the rest of SG1 come out of the tavern. “Any information, sir?”
“There was none. Apparently this lady is willing to divulge the information in the face of tremendous social pressure,” Daniel said.
“It’s not that bad,” the lady said.
“We haven’t been introduced,” Cameron said.
“I’m Aa’lsvaiii’ Ye, local leader of the Record Keeping Guild. Come to the Records Hall and I will fill you in on the situation,” she said.
They soon approached the Records Hall, a building which resembled the library that they had seen in the other town.
Aa’lsvaiii’ lead SG1 to a side entrance and opened the door. “We’re going into the restricted area of the Records Hall. Don’t touch the records without permission,” she said.
‘Of course, the Records Hall is a library,’ Kiara thought. ‘But that would mean that Aa’lsvaiii’ is a librarian.’
They passed through the non-public area, which on Earth would be called the ‘Stacks,’ to a large room on the other side of the structure. “This is the Recordkeeper Guild’s meeting room, but the other members are busy at the moment,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
They sat on various chairs as Aa’lsvaiii’ laid out some glasses of water.
“We heard from our contacts on various worlds of the Priors and this ‘Origin’ that they are espousing. We knew that it wouldn’t take long before they would get here,” Aa’lsvaiii’ began.
“And so a Prior came,” Cameron said.
“Yes, the people of Re’iav Lleag were frightened, but they sent messengers with the message that a Prior had come. So plans were put in place in case a Prior should come back. I have also heard that teams have gone through the gate in search of uninhabited worlds,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
“Impressive,” Sam said.
“Indeed,” Teal’c said.
“So the town was abandoned. But when we arrived there, there wasn’t any Prior,” Cameron said.
“If he found the town deserted he may have gone back to the gate,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
“No doubt that is what you’re counting on, but he may just journey to another settlement,” Daniel said.
“Then that settlement would be abandoned, too. We will not let them dictate to us, or enslave us as our ancestors were enslaved!” Aa’lsvaiii’ said. She grabbed a tome off a bookshelf. “I’m sure you are familiar with the subject matter,” she opened the tome and placed it in front of Daniel.
He read a paragraph from the tome before realising that it depicted the planet’s revolution against the Goa’uld. “But the Ori are worse than the Goa’uld! They will not give up as easily as the System Lords did,” Daniel said.
“We shall see,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said as she took a sip of her water.
Tamsin was about to interject when there was a knock on the door and another young woman, dressed similarly to Aa’lsvaiii’, came in.
“Sorry to interrupt, ma’am, but there is an urgent message,” she said.
“Let her in,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
“Yes, ma’am.”
The messenger paused upon seeing the team in the room with Aa’lsvaiii’. “Who are they?”
“They are Tau’ri. They can hear the message,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
“You sure?”The messenger asked. Aa’lsvaiii’ nodded. The messenger began delivering the message to her and the others.
“...And so the Prior is on his way here,” the messenger concluded.
“That’s not good news. Go and find the rest of the Guild,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said.
“Yes, Ma’am,” the messenger said, she hurried out.
Cameron then appeared to be in thought.
“What are your plans?” Aa’lsvaiii’ asked.
“We are going to intercept the Prior,” he said.
“We are?” Daniel asked.
“We are not going to let another village full of people leave their homes behind because of some idealistic plan,” Cameron said.
“We are leaving this village as soon as we can organise,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said. “In the meantime, you are welcome to look in the Records Hall,” she continued.
“Right,” Daniel said.
“Thanks,” Tamsin said.
Daniel and Tamsin were looking at various books in the Records Hall as Cameron and Aa’lsvaiii’ began to argue.
“I’m certain that this village will be abandoned,” Tamsin said.
“I agree,” Daniel said.
“But they are just going to leave all their stuff here?” Tamsin asked.
“Somehow I think they have that planned too. Send periodic expeditions to retrieve the artefacts that they had left behind,” Daniel said.
“Makes sense,” Tamsin said.
“Another question. How are you understanding the writings here?” Daniel asked.
“The TARDIS,” Tamsin said.
“The TARDIS, what?” Daniel asked.
“It’s translating the writing for me; same with speech in most places we go,” Tamsin said.
“Interesting, but how could that work over interstellar distances?” Daniel asked.
“I don’t know. It could be using the Stargate Network as a relay for all I know,” Tamsin said.
“I think the SGC would notice that,” Daniel said.
“Probably,” Tamsin said.
The SGC
General Landry entered the control room.
“Sir, I have determined the source of the power drain in the Stargate,” Harriman said.
“And?” the General asked.
“It’s that TARDIS. It’s somehow tapped into the ‘Gate’s control circuitry.”
Landry decided to deal with the situation right away. “Call the Doctor to the control room, now!”
“Yes, sir.”
N’b, Ao Plaaileala, Tiloana (P6Y-362)
“I’ve also noticed that everyone is understanding the villagers, not just you,” Tamsin said.
“Yes, on most worlds, there is a translation matrix hidden in the platforms beneath the gate. It works in a radius of 100 kilometres,” Daniel said.
“Interesting,” Tamsin said.
Then Aa’lsvaiii’ entered the Records Hall from outside. “Preparations to leave the village are well underway. Colonel Mitchell is also asking for you,” she said.
“Right, let’s go,” Daniel said. Tamsin followed him out into a scene of frenzy. Villagers were running about trying to organise their departure. They quickly found the rest of SG1 close to the Records Hall.
“This is Lana Halaia. She will accompany you on your interception of the Prior,” Aa’lsvaiii’ said, indicating a nearby Record Keeper.
“That isn’t really necessary,” Cameron said.
“I insist, besides, she can hold her own in a fight,” Aa’lniii said.
“Right,” Cameron said, doubtfully.
Lana whirled her staff in the air and stopped a few centimetres short of driving it into Cameron’s face.
Seeing the tough expression on Lana’s face, Cameron pushed the staff down. “I see your point. Are all Record Keepers like this?”
“Not all, Tau’ri. Only after training in the Guild for more than three years,” Lana said.
“Good to know,” Cameron said.
Fifteen minutes later, SG1 left the rapidly emptying village in the direction of the Prior’s advance.
“We should intercept the Ori forces in less than an hour, Colonel,” Lana said.
“Remember, follow my directions, and don’t just charge into the formation,” Cameron said.
“I’m not stupid, Colonel!” Lana retorted.
Cameron sighed.
The SGC
The Doctor couldn’t been found anywhere in the SGC and hadn’t been noticed leaving. So there was only one place he could be; in the TARDIS. General Landry knocked on the TARDIS door. The Doctor opened it.
“Hi, I know what this is about. And answer is no,” he said.
“How did you know?” Landry asked.
“There is no other reason I can think of,” the Doctor said.
“What is the purpose of the power tap into the gate?” Landry said.
“Come inside and I’ll explain it to you,” the Doctor said.
“Fine,” Landry said. He stepped into the TARDIS. ‘The descriptions don’t do it justice,’ he thought.
The Doctor sat near the console. “I’m not drawing power from the gate, the TARDIS is sending and receiving signals via the gate to and from the planet.”
“For what purpose?”
“It translates the foreign languages into a language that my travelling companions can understand,” the Doctor said.
“Really?” Landry asked.
“Yes,” the Doctor said.
“But it doesn’t need to use the gate for that,” Landry said. He was about to explain that the gate already had a translation method, but the Doctor interrupted.
“No, it doesn’t. But it’s easier than projecting the signal at interstellar distances. Do you even know where the planet is?”
“P6Y-362 is over six thousand light years away,” Landry said.
“The signal will continue to use the gate. It won’t interfere with its normal operations,” the Doctor said. He pressed a control on the console. “There, the TARDIS is providing the power, rather than your facility.”
“Doctor, the gate already provides a translation method,” Landry explained.
“I’m sure it does, but whatever method that is probably doesn’t do text. It will continue until SG1 gets back.”
“Fine,” Landry said. He turned and then left the TARDIS.
Ao Plaailealan countryside, Tiloana
SG1 and their companions were moving wearily through a forest. “Are you certain this is the direction they are approaching from?” Cameron asked.
“Yes,” Lana said.
“She seems quite insistent,” Vala said.
“Right...” Daniel said, warily. They continued moving forwards.
They soon came to a clearing. Teal’c raised his staff weapon. “They are very close,” he said.
Lana gripped her staff with two hands. “I agree, Jaffa,” she said. She stood defensively by his side.
Kiara came up and stood at the ready to the other side of Teal’c, who activated his staff weapon.
The group was not prepared for who they would see next...
Two Priors emerged from the trees. “Hallowed are the Ori,” one of them said.
“Hallowed, my butt!” Lana called out.
“That is not necessary, Ms. Halaia,” Teal’c said.
Lana glanced at the Jaffa. “I will not be letting my energy be sucked out in worship!”
“How do you know that?” Daniel asked behind her.
“Alteran Lies!” the other Prior said.
“The Tau’ri are not the only ones whom have come into contact with the Ancients, Dr. Jackson!” Lana said.
“I guess not,” Daniel murmered.
A large group of Ori troops emerged from the forest and surrounded SG1 and their companions. Leading them was Adria!
“So, we meet again,” she said.

Act Five: Meant To Be Yours
Ever since we rehearsed Dead Girl Walking for the first time yesterday, I haven’t been able to shake the feeling I had when I was straddling Sweet Pea’s lap. Why – oh why – must he be so attractive and so good at singing? Never have I felt anything like this for a co-star in a play or musical. I hate feeling this weak and vulnerable for a boy. Thought I’d learned my lesson after Reggie, but I guess I didn’t.  “Earth to Y/N,” Ella’s voice makes me snap out of my thoughts.  “Hm, what?” I ask, my eyes darting from Ella to Margot and back. Both of them have knowing smirks on their faces. The three of us are sat at the cafeteria, eating our lunches. Only a few more hours until the very last rehearsal before we go through everything from beginning to end for the next rehearsals.  “You’re so crazy about him,” Margot retorts and takes a bite from her sandwich.  “I am not,” I shoot back, furrowing my eyebrows.  “Hm, Ella, don’t you think it’s weird I didn’t have to say a name, and still, Y/N knew who I was talking about?” Margot is a great actress, but her sarcasm always seeps through in situations like this.  “Yeah, that is weird. How could that be, Margot?” Ella taps her chin twice with her index finger and looks like she’s in deep thought with her brows furrowed and lips pursed.  “I don’t know, Ella. Maybe because she’s so damn madly in love with the guy playing Jason Dean.” Margot and Ella both burst out laughing, and I can’t help but smile too.  “Imagine having your own Jason Dean without the psychopathic part, and not doing anything about it,” Ella scoffs, shaking her head at me while picking at her salad. “I mean, honestly, Y/N, what’s holding you back?” I drop my sandwich on my tray and heave a deep sigh. “Is it the Serpent-thing? I thought you didn’t care about all that shit?” Margot adds, wanting to know too, why I didn’t take my chance and ask him out.  “No…” I sigh again, “It’s… I… I don’t know, guys. I just think I’m scared. I mean, what if he doesn’t feel the same? He’s pretty much still in love with Josie McCoy even though she broke his heart in a thousand pieces. What’s Reggie going to do? Is it going to change the entire musical? Is it going to steer me away from my path straight to NYU?” I ramble all of the thoughts I’d been overthinking on my own the entire night last night.  “Wow, girl, okay…” Margot seems a little taken aback by all the thoughts slipping out of my mouth. “Let’s break this down,” she says and glances to Ella for a second as if to check who’ll start. Ella does.  “The only way to know if he feels the same, is to ask him.” She shrugs as if it’s that simple.  “Are you sure he’s still in love with Josie? I mean, what you guys did in rehearsals during Dead Girl Walking, that was improv, which might mean he wanted to rip your shirt off the entire time,” Margot continues by tackling my second thought.  “Who cares what Reggie’s going to do? He’s a dick, Y/N. Screw him,” Ella says, and Margot nods.  “If you’re scared it’s going to change the musical, then wait until the musical’s over. The show’s next weekend if you can wait that long. But if it’s going to change the musical, he isn’t that great an actor, sweetie.” Margot presses her lips together in a painful grimace.  “You still have this year and senior year to spend with him and if he loves you, he’ll understand you’ll have to work on musical theater to get into the college of your dreams. He’ll support you, run lines with you, sing songs with you. If the both of you want it enough, you’ll make it work.”  I sigh again. They’re not wrong, but I’m not convinced yet. “Yeah, but what if he doesn’t want me like that?” My friends at the other side of the table groan simultaneously.  “We’re not going to start this again, Y/N,” Margot says.  “Just ask him,” Ella adds, exaggerating the articulation of the words. I open my mouth to say something else, but the bell ringing to signal the end of lunch interrupts me. “Let’s go, I’ve got biology and professor Phylum doesn’t like tardiness.” Margot and I nod, and the three of us leave the cafeteria together. On our way to our lockers, we bump into a bunch of jocks. Not Reggie nor Archie. But Ryan, Jake and Mason. All three with gross smirks on their faces.  “Hey, Y/N,” Ryan greets in a deep voice.  “Sorry, boys, we got to get to class,” I say, and we try to walk past them, but they block us from doing so. “Can you let us through, please?” I try to keep my voice steady, even though I’m starting to get scared. These three don’t have the cleanest record when it comes to interactions with women.  “Ah, you can’t just leave,” Mason’s mouth curls up into a grin.  “Not when you’re dressed like that,” Jake then goes. I look down to the Veronica skirt I’m wearing. Kevin told us to always wear something our characters would wear to really get into the mind of the person we’re supposed to play.  “Dressed like what? This is what I always wear?” I glance at my friends, who are clearly as confused as I am. The three boys give each other a glance too before Mason goes on.  “Yeah! And it’s torture!” Ryan almost yells in frustration.  “How can you expect us to control ourselves when you look like that?” says Jake. This is going to be one of those conversations, isn’t it?  “Back off, assholes,” Cheryl’s voice sounds from behind me. When I turn my head, I find Sweet Pea, Fangs, Toni and Cheryl standing behind me with their arms crossed. My eyes linger a little longer on the tall Serpent right behind me. He has an intimidating scowl on his face.  “Oh, look the criminals are backing up the theater nerds now that they’re singing and dancing together like little fags.” Mason says with a chuckle and hitting his best bud, Jake, on his chest. Jake and Ryan both cackle obnoxiously.  “What’s going on here, Bulldogs?” Reggie’s voice chimes in. For some reason, it only makes me tense up more. He goes to stand next to Ryan, looking at me first, then glancing at the Bulldogs. “Are they harassing you, Y/N?” I want to open my mouth to tell him it’s not that bad to avoid any fighting when Betty and Veronica chime in too.  “Get over yourself, assholes, she’s not that into you,” Veronica tells them, her eyebrows furrowed.  “Oh, come on, Reg!” Mason starts, “You’ve noticed she’s gotten hotter every damn day! She may not have been good enough for you back then, but right now, she’s good enough to get with me!” I raise my eyebrow at him. I can’t keep my mouth shut anymore. Not when he’s talking shit like that.  “Now I’m good enough?” I ask, stepping forward. Reggie steps back to allow me more space. “Did it ever occur to you that I don’t care if I’m ‘good enough’ for a gross, misogynistic prick like you? I’m intelligent enough to know my worth doesn’t depend on a jock’s boner. You, however, are worth nothing. So, get your tiny dick out of here before I cut it off.” I’ve gotten closer with every word I’ve said to the point where I’m mere inches away from him.  “You heard her, ass,” Archie then says, who’d joined too.  “Get out of here!” Sweet Pea adds with his intimidating, low voice that sends shivers down my spine.  “See you in hell, assholes!” Betty, Margot and I yell after them as they scurry away.  “Thanks for backing me up, guys,” I say, glancing up to every single one of my co-stars. My eyes linger on Sweet Pea again, and he’s looking at me too. His scowl is replaced with a small smile and sparkles in his eyes, lighting up his eyes more.  “That’s all good, Y/N,” Reggie says, and wraps an arm around me. I stiffen at the all-too-familiar feeling. “We’re all theater nerds now!” I wriggle myself loose from his grip with a chuckle.  “Mess with Veronica, mess with the Heathers!” Cheryl chimes in. Her red lips are turned up into a wide, bright smile that takes away the nerves I just felt when Reggie placed his arm around me.  “Let’s get to class now,” Margot then suggests, and we all nod in agreement.  “Y/N,” Sweet Pea starts and holds me back by my arm while the others get to class. “Can we please rehearse some lines tonight after rehearsal?” The words feel like a punch in the stomach. I can’t be trusted alone with him. I’ll just forget about all of my worries and kiss him and then overthink it once again when it’s happened. I need to step back and pretend I’m not as in love with him as I am right now. For my own good. For my future. To save the musical.
“Let’s do Yo Girl and Meant to Be Yours back to back again. Make sure to go all-in today, kids!” Evelyn tells us with a grin on her face. Everyone that needs to be on stage goes to get ready. Cheryl, Archie and Reggie go to stand on the raised bit of the stage. They’re dead by now, so it’s their ghosts that are still haunting Veronica. Betty, Veronica and I stand on the lower bit to do our small conversation. “Martha Dumptruck took a belly flop off the Old Mill Bridge last night holding a suicide note,” Betty says with a chuckle. “Oh my God, is she dead?” I ask, eyes wide, pretending to be shocked by this news. Betty then replies, “Just some broken bones. Just another geek trying to imitate the popular people and failing miserably.” She rolls her eyes and walks off stage with Veronica in tow. “Yo girl, keep it together I knew you would come far Now you're truly a Heather Smell how gangsta you are,” Cheryl, Reggie and Archie sing together from ‘heaven’. “Martha, I’m so sorry,” I say, Veronica Sawyer’s barely holding it together. “Yo girl, feel a bit punchy? She's not looking so well Still, you've earned that red scrunchie Come join Heather in hell,” the dead characters sing again, and on walk our coach and the drama teacher who are playing my parents. “Where’ve you been?” Coach McLaren asks with furrowed eyebrows. He’s not the greatest actor. But it’ll do for a few lines. “We've been worried sick! Your friend JD stopped by. He told us everything,” miss Jacobs says her line. “Everything?” I ask. Miss Jacobs gives me a worried smile. “Your depression, your thoughts of suicide…” Coach McLaren goes. Miss Jacobs shows me a Moby Dick copy. “He even showed us your copy of Moby Dick!” “He’s got your handwriting down cold,” Cheryl chimes in sassily. “Please, honey, talk to us!” miss Jacobs pleads. At least her good acting balances out coach’s bad acting. I shake my head viciously. “No, you wouldn’t understand!” “Try me! I’ve experienced everything you’re going through!” miss Jacobs’ voice grows, and I back up. “Guess who's right down the block?” the dead kids sing behind us. “Your problems seem like life and death—” ‘mom’ chimes in. Then Cheryl, Reggie and Archie take their turn again, “Guess who’s climbing the stairs?” “I promise they’re not!” miss Jacobs says. “Guess who’s picking your lock?” “You don’t know what my world looks like!” I yell at my mother and run off stage. “Time’s up! Go say your prayers!” Mom and dad now walk off stage, and I go back on. The dead kids walk down the stairs on one side while I run up the ones on the other side. “Veronica's running on, running on fumes now Veronica's totally fried Veronica's gotta be trippin' on 'schrooms now, Thinking that she can hide Veronica's done for, there's no doubt now, Notify next of kin! Veronica's trying to keep him out now Too late! He got in!” Sweet Pea walks onto stage as if he’d just broken into my ‘bedroom”, and I’m hiding in the closet from him. “Knock! Knock! Sorry to come through the window. Dreadful etiquette, I know!” Sweet Pea’s voice makes my knees buckle. He sounds so angry, yet I know he isn’t. He looked happy just seconds ago. “Get out of my house!” I yell at him through the pretend door. “All is forgiven, baby! Come on and get dressed! You’re my date to the pep rally tonight!” I perk up at that with furrowed eyebrows in confusion. “What?! Why?!” “You chucked me out like I was trash, For that you should be dead— But! But! But! Then it hit me like a flash, What if high school went away instead' Those assholes are the key! They're keeping you away from me! They made you blind, messed up your mind But I can set you free!” When we were exploring the songs still, Ella, Margot and I were always dancing to this song. But now, I can’t seem to move a muscle. I’m not allowed to, but even if I was, I’m too enthralled by his voice and how perfect it sounds for the song. “You left me and I fell apart, I punched the wall and cried— Bam! Bam! Bam!” I jump a little when his voice grows louder. “Then I found you changed my heart and set loose all that truthful shit inside! And so I built a bomb Tonight our school is Vietnam! Let's guarantee they'll never see their senior prom!” The music slows down a little and his voice does too, getting a bit vulnerable. “I was meant to be yours! We were meant to be one! Don't give up on me now! Finish what we've begun! I was meant to be yours!” Then the music grows louder and harder, and his voice becomes angrier and more psychopathic than before. How do I only find out now how talented this boy is? “So when the high school gym goes boom with everyone inside— Pchw! Pchw! Pchw! In the rubble of their tomb We'll plant this note explaining why they died!” The other students walk up the stage too, surrounding JD in a half circle. “We, the students of Westerburg High Will die. Our burnt bodies may finally get through To you. Your society churns out slaves and blanks No thanks. Signed the Students of Westerburg High 'Goodbye.'” The students stay where they are, but Sweet Pea now sings on his own. “We'll watch the smoke poor out the doors. Bring marshmallows, We'll make s'mores! We can smile and cuddle while the fire roars!” Then, everyone sings back up vocals for Sweet Pea during the chorus, making it sound even more magical. However, I can only focus on Sweet Pea’s gorgeous voice. It’s making me fall more and more in love with the boy. Damn it. “I was meant to be yours! We were meant to be one! I can't make this alone! Finish what we've begun! You were meant to be mine! I am all that you need! You carved open my heart! Can't just leave me to bleed!” I begin to prepare my fake suicide by hanging up a fake noose and wrapping it around my neck. “Veronica, open the—open the door, please' Veronica, open the door. Veronica, can we not fight anymore' Please, can we not fight anymore' Veronica, sure, you're scared, I've been there. I can set you free! Veronica, don't make me come in there! I'm gonna count to three! “One! Two! Fuck it!” He opens the ‘door’ and finds his Veronica dead. The boy, overcome with emotions, kneels down next to me and begins crying. “Oh my God! 'No! 'Veronica'!” His voice sounds softer, but still equally as powerful. And it still sends chills down my spine. “Please don't leave me alone' You were all I could trust' I can't do this alone'” The others back him up again for the very last line, and goosebumps form on my arms. “Still I will if I must!” “Veronica?!” mom shouts as she walks up the stairs. Sweet Pea looks up in a panic and runs off stage.  “I made you a snack! Veronica?!” Miss Jacobs walks up the stairs with a tray in her hands when she finds her daughter hung from the ceiling. A loud, shrill shriek comes from her body, making me snap my head up. “No, no, no!” I yell and run up to her. “No, it was a joke! No, mom, please! Look at me! I’m okay!” I grab her cheeks and makes her look at me. I wipe away her tears. “I’m fine. I’m fine!” “That’s not funny!” she yells back at me, sobbing violently.   “And scene!” Kevin yells, and miss Jacobs and I get up. “You’re doing a great job, Y/N,” she tells me with a smile. Miss Jacobs has always been kind of my second mom. She’s my theater mom. She’s supporting me in my dreams to become a professional musical theater actress. The woman believes in me more than my own mother. “Thanks, mom,” I say with a wink and approach my friends on the side of the stage. “I have a problem,” I say in a panicked, but hushed voice. “What is it?” Margot asks, placing her round sunglasses on the top of her head. “I’m terribly and embarrassingly in love with Jason Dean,” I hope they get the code name for Sweet Pea as I don’t want to anyone to hear me say his actual name. The girls’ smiles widen. “Thank heaven’s she admits it!” they both exclaim loudly. I shush them immediately, frantically looking around if anyone’s heard them. Everyone else seems preoccupied with other things, and I sigh in relief. “I don’t know what to do though?” I whisper with a pained expression. “Help? Please?” “Let stoner chick and preppy kid take care of it!” Ella reassures me. Or at least tries to. I’m not sure if I am reassured.

Safe and Sound part 3
A continuation of my Dhawan!Master x pregnant reader fic
Part 1
part 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you aren’t traveling with the Master you’re spending your time exploring his ship. At first, he wouldn’t let you go anywhere on your own, he tried to play it off but the worry in his voice wasn’t hard to detect and he would follow you everywhere. You didn’t mind, you liked the company, but after a while, you decided to need some time to yourself. Reluctantly, the Master let you go but when he was away you had the funniest feeling that his ship had begun to do his job for him. You were coming on five months now, and you took to walking to ease off the pain, sometimes the TARDIS would keep these walks short, the corridors would twist for a while before leading to the console room with ease and you would sit back on the couch and wait for the Master to join you. You never knew where he went when you weren’t looking, but it was better than him fussing over you.
Sometimes, when you asked nicely, the Master would sit with you in his room and read to you until you fall asleep. His voice always calmed you no matter what he happened to be reading. The Master seemed to like Shakespeare a lot and would read to you sonnet after sonnet, you could practically recite them at this point. You asked him once how children were born on his planet, the topic seemed to upset him but he answered you anyway and that's when he told you about his planet’s destruction. You spent the remainder of that day together, relaxing beside each other and talking about nothing and everything all at once. It seemed to make him happy, you decided not to ask any more questions about his planet.
One day you stumbled upon the Master reading something else, something he quickly shut and placed on the table beside him before greeting you. “What are you reading?” you ask, taking a seat on the chair beside him.
“Nothing important..” he says quickly changing the subject, “how are you feeling?”
“Good,” you say, “well..as good as it gets, I suppose.”
“Have you eaten?” he asks, lifting himself off his seat with the book in tow you watch as he places it upon a shelf too high for you to reach (you make a note of asking about it later) and then crosses the room into the kitchen.
“No, but I can make something, you don’t have to do it for me.” The Master huffs, already rummaging through his fridge.
  “You need to be resting..”
“Is that why we haven’t gone out in a while? Are you worried?” you see the Master visibly tense, he pulls back from the fridge to give you a once over.
 “You’ve been in pain recently.”
“It’s nothing serious, it comes and goes. Just part of having a baby.”
“Yes I know but…” the Master sighs, “alright then how about this, let's go get lunch somewhere nice. Maybe somewhere on Earth, you’ve never been before.”
“I thought you hated Earth?” you tease, the Master abandons the fridge in favor of coming over to you and offering you a hand which you take gratefully. He helps you to your feet and then walks you over to the console.
“I do, but...its relatively safe..” he says, typing something into the console, “where would you like to go?”
“hmm..I’ve never been to Italy, let's get some Italian food!” the Master chuckles and shakes his head but punches in the coordinates nevertheless. He holds you gently as the ship shakes and only lets you go once it lands with a thud. The Master leads you to the door as it opens, and you look out to find a beautiful little town with a plethora of shops on each block. “Where are we?” you ask.
“Florence. I figured we’d get lunch here, there’s a nice restaurant not far from where we landed,” the Master offers you his arm, which you take with a smile and let him lead you down the quaint street. There weren’t that many people around, just shopkeepers and the occasional pedestrian you assumed he must have taken you here for that exact reason.
“Master,” you say, gently squeezing his arm, “you know you don’t have to worry about there being people...I won’t freak out or anything.”
“It’s not about the people I just..I wanted to take you someplace nice. And I know you like the quiet..”
“When we first met, you told me you weren’t nice. But you’ve been nothing but nice to me since then.” You were teasing but when you thought about it it was true. You had caught glimpses of the Master’s more terrifying nature, usually, when someone would look at you in a way he didn’t like, or on the days when his mood darkened and he would let off steam by slamming things. He never did it around you though, and if he did he would apologize for it immediately and wouldn’t leave your side of the rest of the day. On one occasion, you had lost him in a crowd one day the two of you had been exploring a city and he had disappeared from sight. You were worried, frantically searching for him in every nook and cranny until you found him in an alleyway, his screwdriver to a man’s throat as the grasped his collar. He dropped him as soon as he had found you but you were too scared to make a move towards him, stepping back when he attempted to come to you. It broke his hearts, he had said, to think he had scared you so badly. Of course, you forgave him for it later, after he had profusely apologized time and time again, trying to explain himself to you.
You were brought back to the present when the Master answered you with a shrug, “I like you. You’re different…”
“How so?” you ask, he slows once the two of you near the restaurant he had chosen for you.
“I..I don’t know. But I care about you,” he pauses, letting go of you so he could turn and face you.
“Is..Is this a date?” you ask, a teasing smirk to your face, it turns into a  genuine smile when the Master straightens himself and nods.
“If you want it to be. I wouldn’t object.” Your smile forms into a grin and you lean up to press a kiss to his lips before pulling back and walking towards the restaurant, he follows you with a smile on his face.

Haven't Met You Yet
Word Count: 786
Pairings: 10th x reader, 11th x reader
Warnings: none.
A/N: Request from @we-are-all-alittle-strange-here, enjoy!
Summary: You meet one of your husband's past regenerations and just can't help but mess with him. You really loved time travel.
............................................................
You had been wandering a large museum, with fifteen floors. The Doctor had of course brought you here, then disappeared as usual. You were half looking for the Doctor and half just admiring everything the other worldly museum had to offer.
'Maybe I should put a tracker on him' You thought.
You noticed something familiar out of the corner of your eye. You strolled over to the display case, looking at the information plate. You couldn't help but roll your eyes when you noticed the date was wrong on it. You would know, you went there on your last adventure with your TimeLord husband.
"Wrong." Both you and another voice said simultaneously.
You looked up in surprise seeing a man with spiky brown hair in a trench coat. He looked at you with interest and you looked back with amusement. You recognized him as the Doctor, not your Doctor, a different regeneration of him though.
"Keeping score again?" You smiled.
He tilted his head smiling back. He looked back at the display avoiding your gaze.
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean, Doctor."
His eyes looked over at you after he heard you call him by his name. He looked even more interested now and turned his full attention to you.
"You know who I am, can't seem to remember you though." He said.
You knew he was waiting for you to tell him how you knew him but you decided to mess with him. Besides, you couldn't directly tell him anything anyways.
"You can consider me a friend for right now." You shrugged.
You turned and started walking in the opposite direction. He followed after you and watched you curiously.
"Right now? Are we more than friends then?" He questioned.
"You could say that."
He got lost in thought for a moment and you giggled at how focused he looked. That snapped him out of his thoughts, and he tilted his head.
"Alright then, so I know you, but from which time period? See I travel a lot, can't keep track of it all." He said.
"Present day earth." You said as vaguely as possible.
"Right, right, which would be the year...." He trailed off.
You gave him a pointed look and he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Nice try, but you know I won't fall for that." You tsked.
"Worth a shot, but you said I knew you wouldn't fall for that, so we're close then!"
"You're grasping at straws Doctor."
"Am I at least getting close?" He whined.
You didn't say anything else just smiled knowingly and walked into the elevator. He slipped in just before the doors closed. You watched the numbers change for each floor as he fidgeted impatiently.
"Not going to tell me anything else then? Not even a sneak peek?"
He gave you his best puppy dog eyes but you didn't fall for that. You just glanced at him, mischief playing in your eyes.
"Nope." You said popping the p.
He frowned, putting his hands in his pockets. He seemed to think for a moment.
"Not even a name?"
You waited until the doors opened and you stepped out before answering him.
"Y/N."
The doors closed before he could do or say anything. You laughed and started walking to where you remembered the TARDIS was, which was on the other side of the room. You heard shoes hitting the floor and turned to see the Doctor running after you. You laughed and paused waiting for him to catch up to you. You raised an eyebrow, and he looked at you for a moment.
"I don't know you, but you know me, really well it seems, am I ever going to know anymore?" He finally asked.
"Of course you are..." You trailed off.
You started walking again with him in tow. You saw your Doctor's TARDIS, and the tenth Doctor slowed to a stop staring at it then you. You walked over to it just as your Doctor poked his head out.
"Y/N! There you are! You wandered off!" The eleventh Doctor scolded playfully.
You gave him a look that said 'are you serious.' He winked at you and you straightened his bow tie stifling your laughter.
"You are lucky I love you." You teased.
You shook your head. You looked back at the tenth Doctor, who looked at the eleventh Doctor and then you in shock when his future self kissed your cheek holding the door open for you. You strolled in but paused and leaned out of the TARDIS door's to give the tenth Doctor a bright smile, and a playful wink. Your next words had him grinning ear to ear.
"You just haven't met me yet!"

Complete Timeline of “Back to the Future”
The entire trilogy takes place over the course of about two weeks from Marty McFly’s perspective, two days for an outside observer in 1985.  We are given specific dates and times, often minute-by-minute, so we can piece together a complete timeline with time stamps.  All times are in PST (Pacific Standard).
Part 1
Friday, October 25, 1985, 8:18 AM PST: The first movie begins with shots of Doc’s clocks and his automated breakfast machine.  The clocks actually say 7:53, but we soon learn they are 25 minutes slow.  We are soon introduced to Marty McFly, who accidentally overloads Doc’s giant amp around 8:23 or 8:24
Friday, October 25, 1985, 8:25 AM: Doc’s clocks all strike 8:00, and Marty realizes he is late for school.  The thing is, he’s wearing a watch in this scene, and moreover he must have woken up to an alarm set on his bedroom clock, so how does he NOT know what time it actually is?  Moving on; cue the “Power of Love” skateboarding-behind-cars sequence.  Marty and Jennifer sneak into school too late, and Mr. Strickland gives him another tardy slip and the whole “slacker” spiel.  “The future’s gonna change,” Marty says.
Friday, October 25, 1985, afternoon: after school, Marty’s band, the Pinheads, audition for the big dance.  A real square of a teacher tells them to stop playing because they’re just too darn loud; I did not know who Huey Lewis was when I first saw this movie, so I didn’t realize this was a celebrity cameo meant to be a joke, I just figured he was a stuffy old man who isn’t with the times.  Either way, Marty is dejected, but Jennifer tells him to send in his audition tape to the record company anyway.  Marty ogles a new 4x4 truck, “Save the Clock Tower!” he gets a flier, Jennifer’s dad picks her up to take her to her grandma’s house.
Friday, October 25, 1985, evening: Marty returns home to find the car totaled (there goes his date at the lake with Jennifer).  We are introduced to Biff and the McFly family.  One awkward family dinner and a ton of exposition later, and we learn everything we need to know about George and Lorraine’s first meeting back in 1955; Lorraine’s dad hit George with his car, and it was love at first sight.
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 12:28 AM: Doc calls Marty, tells him to swing by his lab and pick up his camera before meeting him at Twin Pines Mall at 1:15.
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 1:15 AM: Marty arrives at Twin Pines Mall just as the clock ticks over to 1:16.  The next few minutes are thoroughly documented.  Doc emerges from his van in a souped up Delorean DMC-12.
1:18 AM: Doc begins his spiel for the camera, giving the date, time, and location of Temporal Experiment Number 1.
1:19 AM: “Einstein’s clock is in precise synchronization with my control watch.” He remote controls the Delorean to the opposite end of the parking lot and floors it towards him and Marty.
1:20:00 AM: At exactly one-twenty and zero seconds, the world’s first Temporal Displacement occurs, Marty thinks the Delorean explodes, but it actually just made a jump into the future, “one minute into the future to be exact.”  Doc had nerves of steel to test it for the first time by driving it straight at him.
1:21:00 AM: Exactly one minute later, the Delorean reappears covered in ice, a special effect that the filmmakers stop using because it became impractical to coat the car with ice every time it travels through time.  Some ice is always visible, but never to this extent again.
1:22 AM: Doc opens the Delorean to discover Einstein is perfectly fine; to him, the trip was instantaneous.  The experiment was a complete success!  Doc prepares for his historic journey as the first human to travel through time; he plans to go forward 25 years, later amended to 30 because it’s a nice round number.
1:34 AM: Doc is shot to death by Libyan terrorists because he used the plutonium they stole to build the time machine instead of the bomb they wanted (the less we think about the implications, the better).
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 1:35 AM: Marty flees from the terrorists in the Delorean, accidentally turns on the time circuits and blasts himself back to 1955.
Saturday, November 5, 1955, 6:15 AM: Marty arrives on Peabody farm, is mistaken for an alien and shot at.  He drives away, accidentally running over one of the twin pines in the process.  The exact time is not shown on screen except for the 6 (the last two digits are obscured), but the DVD menu says 6:15 so I’m sticking with it.  The Delorean breaks down shortly after, and he hides it behind the Lyon Estates billboard.  He walks into town, “Hill Valley 2 Miles.”
Saturday. November 5, 1955, 8:29: “Mr. Sandman” sequence, Marty walks around courtyard square, dazed and confused.  It took him over two hours to drive from the mall to his house and then walk 2 miles into town, so of course he’s confused.  The clock tower chimes 8:30, the first time Marty’s ever heard it go off.  He enters Lou’s Cafe to find Doc’s address in the phone book, and encounters a young George and Biff.  George bikes away, and Marty gives chase.  Shortly after, George falls out of a tree while peeping on Lorraine like a creep, and is almost hit by her dad’s car; Marty pushes him out of the way, taking his place in the timeline.  He hits his head and is knocked out.
“Almost 9 hours” later (so around 6-ish PM): Marty awakens in young Lorraine’s bedroom.  She has the hots for him, Florence Nightingale style.  He has dinner with the Baines family soon after, though the clock behind Lorraine’s parents says it’s 8:35.  He leaves after his mom grabs his thigh (ew), and goes to find Doc at his mansion before he burned it down for the insurance money (this is never stated on screen, but the implication is clear).  Doc doesn’t believe he’s from the future until he recounts the story about the wet toilet and the flux capacitor (it makes sense in context).  Doc deduces that Marty messed up the timeline by interfering with his parent’s first meeting, so they have to find a way to get them back together.
Monday, November 7, 1955, morning: The date is never given, but we can assume Doc and Marty wanted to scope out the school as soon as possible, so Monday it is.  Marty tries to introduce George to Lorraine, but she would rather introduce herself to him (ew)
November 7, lunchtime: Marty talks to George in the cafeteria, and almost gets into a fight with Biff after he assaults Lorraine.
November 7, afternoon: George goes home after school with Marty in tow, “why are you following me?”  George tells him that he’s not ready to ask Lorraine out, and that nobody on this planet can change his mind.
Tuesday, November 8, 1955, 1:23 AM: Marty dresses in his radiation suit and visits George, pretending to be “Darth Vader, an extraterrestrial from the planet Vulcan.”  He threatens to melt George’s brain with more Van Halen tapes if he doesn’t ask Lorraine to the dance.  Mission accomplished.
November 8, afternoon: George skipped school that day, having overslept because “Darth Vader” knocked him out with chloroform (in a deleted scene).  Marty encourages him to go into Lou’s Cafe and tell Lorraine that he is her density- I mean destiny.  All goes well until Biff shows up; Marty gets into a fight followed by a chase through courtyard square where he accidentally introduces the town to the concept of skateboarding.  Biff crashes into a manure truck, doing $300 damage to his car.  Later that day, Doc and Marty go over the plan to go Back to the Future TM (the model is so crude, it’s not even to scale or painted).  Lorraine followed Marty to Doc’s house and asks him to ask her to the dance.  He reluctantly accepts.
Wednesday, November 9, afternoon: Marty and George go over their plan for the dance.  Marty will “take advantage” of his mom (ew), and George will come to her rescue.  This date isn’t given either, but we can assume it is the next day because they were wearing different clothes and I don’t think Marty would wait more than a day to go over his plan (time is of the essence).
Saturday, November 12, 1955, 7:55 PM: Doc sets up the “weather experiment” in courtyard square, Marty writes him a letter warning him of the terrorists (he doesn’t go into detail, he just says “you will be shot by terrorists.”  Doc must be very surprised at what shenanigans his future self will get into).
8:59 PM: George is at the dance, dancing like a dork, and Marty and Lorraine arrive in Doc’s car.  Marty is nervous as hell because he doesn’t want to feel up his own mom, but Lorraine is down to clown (ew).  She kisses him, but is grossed out because he’s like her brother or something.  Biff and his stooges pull him out of the car and throw him in the Starlighters’ trunk; Biff begins assaulting Lorraine.
9:00 PM: George goes out to fake-confront Marty, only to real-confront Biff.  He finally manages to stand up for himself and the woman he loves, knocking Biff out with one punch. Hooray!
9:31 PM: Doc checks four different watches to deduce that Marty is running late (they’re cutting it close).  Marvin Berry sliced his hand open helping break Marty out of his trunk, so Marty takes over on guitar.  Earth Angel, George and Lorraine kiss, the timeline is restored, Johnny B Goode, “your kids are gonna love it.”  Marty leaves George and Lorraine on good terms and heads out to courtyard square.
9:55 PM: Doc checks three more watches, and Marty arrives just in time, having changed back into his “life preserver” vest.  The plan begins to unfurl.
9:56:38 PM exactly: Doc says the lightning bolt is 7 minutes and 22 seconds away, which strikes at exactly 10:04.  Doc finds the latter and rips it up.
9:58 PM: a branch falls on the wire, disconnecting it.  Doc climbs the clock tower with a rope so he can pull it back up.
9:59 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:34:41, Doc emerges from the top of the tower and pulls up the plug.
10:00 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:35:30 (this minute was 49 seconds long), Marty tries to tell Doc about the terrorists, but he has to get going because time is running out.
10:01 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:36:09 (this one was 39 seconds), Marty drives to the end of the runway and resets the time circuits to give him 11 extra minutes to warn Doc (only 11? you’re cutting it close as is, Marty).  Doc slips on the clock’s facade, almost dropping the plug.
10:02 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:38:00 (111 seconds), the Delorean won’t start, the alarm goes off, everything is going wrong.  Marty slams his head in desperation and the engine kicks to life (Doc’s calculations were wrong; he told Marty to floor it when the alarm went off, but he started a few seconds late and still made it.  If he had floored it on time, he would have been several seconds too early and hit the wire before the lightning struck).
10:03 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:39:50 (110 seconds), Doc plugs in one end of the wire, which unplugs the other end.  Marty is almost there, so Doc ziplines down to the ground and runs over to the lamppost [note; the Delorean’s time circuits read 10:03 before the clock tower ticks over to 10:03]
Saturday, November 12, 1955, 10:04 PM: the clock ticks at runtime 1:40:38 (48 seconds).  Lightning strikes the clock tower just as the Delorean hits the wire, sending Marty Back to the Future TM.
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 1:24 AM: the Delorean rematerializes in courtyard square, crashing into the movie theater, but otherwise intact.  The engine gives out before Marty can head to the mall, and the terrorists drive past him.  He gives chase on foot, but doesn’t make it in time. [Note: a digital clock on courtyard square says it was 1:23 when Marty arrived, ticking over to 1:24 after he emerges from the Delorean.  The Delorean’s time circuits are consistently a minute ahead]
1:33 AM: Marty arrives at Lone Pine Mall just in time to see the terrorists gun Doc down. He sees himself jump into the Delorean at 1:34, and blast into the past after a short chase.  The terrorists crash into a photo kiosk and the van rolls over, presumably killing them (we never see the van hit the ground, we just see it start tipping, but the camera cuts away and we never see them emerge and try to collect Doc’s body).  Doc is in fact alive, having taped Marty’s latter back together and worn a bullet proof vest, the first of several in the series.  Doc takes Marty home, then travels 30 years into the future, “look me up when you get there.”
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 10:28 AM: Marty’s alarm goes off, “Back in Time” by Huey Lewis plays on the radio.  Marty thinks the past week was just a bad dream until he discovers new furniture and successful family members.  Lorraine is no longer an alcoholic, George is an author, David works at an office instead of Burger King, and Linda is a trendy socialite.  Biff has become the neutered family gopher, cleaning their cars and kowtowing to George’s commands.  He gives Marty the keys to his truck, the 4x4 he was ogling earlier with Jennifer.
10:30-ish: Marty reunites with Jennifer, “you’re acting like you haven’t seen me in a week,” “I haven’t.”  They kiss, at which point Doc returns from the future with a warning, “you’ve got to come back with me,” “where?” “Back to the Future TM.”  Where they’re going, they don’t need roads; the Delorean flies away, roll credits.
The first movie was never intended to have sequels.  It ended on a cliffhanger as a joke, “the adventures continue,” and it wasn’t until four years later that they decided to film Parts 2 and 3 back-to-back to round out the story.
In real time, Part 1 takes place over 1 day, 2 hours, 12 minutes
Friday, October 25, 1985 8:18 AM to Saturday, October 26, 1985, 10:30 AM
For Marty, it takes place over 8 days, 18 hours, 11 minutes
Friday, October 25, 1985, 8:18 AM to Saturday, October 26, 1985, 1:34 AM (17 hours, 16 minutes)
Saturday, November 5, 1955, 6:15 AM to Saturday, November 12, 1955, 10:04 PM (7 days, 15 hours, 49 minutes)
Saturday, October 26, 1985, 1:24 AM to Saturday, October 26, 1985, 10:30 AM (9 hours, 6 minutes)

It took three and a half months, but I’ve finished my Doctor Who Rewatch.
It’s time to talk about seasons 10, 11, overall wrapup thoughts and some best/worst lists.  Very long post below.
I started doing this back at the end of August as more of a joke when I was going back and cleaning the terrible cringe stuff off the first few months of my blog, then ended up taking that project from when I started the blog in May, 2011 until late 2016.  I realized that I had too much going on IRL right now to revisit my life at the end of 2016 when things took a sharp turn the wrong way, so I haven’t picked that back up again.  I still might at some point.
After the start of the nostalgia tour I:
Cried about Doomsday
Still hated the Manhattan episodes but renewed my love for one of my favorite characters of all time.
Reflected about Martha Jones and being an overly-zealous defender of a fictional character
Cried a lot over meeting and losing River Song in the span of an hour and a half.
Made my way through Season 4 and found myself still mostly loving the show.
Finished Season 4 and was starting to tire of Ten but knew I had more content to get through.
Didn’t post again til I was done with Amy and Rory.  Loved Amy, Rory and River even more, especially Rory.
Watched an episode I remembered I didn’t like just because of the guest actors.  Only marginally helped the episode.
Disliked the second half of season 7 even more than I used to.  Felt meh about Clara.
Warmed to Clara more in seasons 8 and 9.  Still, was ready to see her go.  Loved Twelve, though the first half of season 8 continued to be rough.  Adored the Husbands of River Song for the 6th+ time.
Took a brief moment to love Bill.
Full disclosure on the rewatch: I skipped most of Fear Her except the first and last few minutes, and actually haven’t gotten back to Waters of Mars or the one 11 Christmas Special with the kids who’s father dies.  I may or may not pick those up in the next week or two.
So tonight I finished rewatching all of Thirteen’s episodes and wanted to talk a bit more about Bill, and then a lot about Thirteen, and some general thoughts about the whole rewatch.
Bill Potts is too good for this world.  I remembered loving her during her season but was blown away on the rewatch with how much I loved her, and almost all of her season.  Her energy, her story, her smile, it’s infectious.  It’s infuriating that so many people didn’t watch Bill because wow she deserved a lot more attention that I feel like she got, and also I feel like the show itself turned a real corner that season.  Season 9, yes, definitely better than 8 and 7.5.  But It’s like Moffat or the writers in general kinda grocked into several important things and made the show more progressive and less cringe?
There wasn’t an episode I thought was bad, even the more filler episodes like the one in space with the air being a commodity was tense and fun.  I’m not sure I’d skip a single episode.
And then Bill, I think, ends up getting an even shittier deal than Martha in her season.  Left alone for ten years in a shithole mopping up floors, only to be turned into a cyberman and get left extremely traumatized, and sacrifice herself.  A very good story.  A very sad and frustrating ending.  Except that she does get to “transform” and travel the universe with Heather.
Maybe she did eventually go back home and finish living her life from not long after she left in the TARDIS the last time -- it’s entirely possible.  The Memory-Bill in Twice Upon a Time (the Twelve & One crossover) remembered traveling with Heather, which means her memory was taken from some point AFTER.  So maybe she got to be an ethereal being for a long time, and then eventually went home to Earth.  Or maybe she’s still out there traveling the stars with Heather.  Either way, she deserves a good life, and a good ending, even if we never know the true ending.
Twelve -- I love him.  Again, he had a really rough start but Capaldi is an amazing actor and he owned the role. I don’t think it’s actually possible to rank my favorite doctors from the new Who era, they’re all different, all great.  And Missy -- such an amazing villain.  Paired with Simms-Master was so, extremely fun, but even on her own, I think she’s now my favorite incarnation of The Master.  (I’ve only seen a few episodes of Old-Who with Delgado, and I really love Delgado’s Master as well.)
Nardole was also a fun addition to the season.  I know technically he was considered a full companion and enjoyed him when he was there, but tbh, to me it was all about Bill.
But hey, when Twelve left, it was a good time for him to go -- I really think three seasons is the sweet spot for length of a Doctor.  I was so ready for Thirteen and The Fam.
I remembered loving Thirteen when her episodes were airing and, I was right to.  Jodie Whittaker is so good -- I never doubt for a second that she’s The Doctor.  The show one again feels very different with a new doctor / companions / showrunner.  I honestly loved the lack of Doctor-Angst in the season.  Thirteen is so much more brightness and sunshine and I think it was a good way to swing the Doctor after Twelve.  I also liked that there were a few comments about changing genders, a little bit of frustration from noticing how people treated her differently, but it was neither an earthshattering thing that made EVERYTHING DIFFERENT nor was it a non-event.  I really think they handled it well.
I will say that I think some of the critics were right, that the season itself could have used a bit more of an arc.  Not a heavy arc, like seasons five and six had, but a bit more than Tim Shaw showing up in the first and last episodes of the season.  It looks like next season is going to have that.
The arc that was there though really came from Graham and Ryan’s grief about Grace and their relationship growing.  Honestly, I remember when we learned that one of the new companions was going to be a 60-ish year old dude I wasn’t looking forward to that at all, but honestly, I love Graham.  He’s an actual good guy, he loves deeply, he’s allowed to show his emotions, he handles things WELL.  He’s not perfect but also I felt like they wrote his character so well, he wasn’t an arrogant guy expecting everyone to follow his orders, he cares deeply for Ryan and even had some great scenes with Yaz.
Ryan and Yaz are both also just so fantastic.  I loved getting to spend time with Yaz’s family both current and past.  I actually learned a little history in the episode that took place in Pakistan (and loved having a benevolent alien storyline there, love that episode so much).  I also loved that they allowed Ryan to show grief and sadness, and vulnerability too.
I was definitely feeling the 13/Yaz vibes on the rewatch, and although I wouldn’t say I’d be upset if they did end up doing a Ryan/Yaz storyline, I also wouldn’t be upset if they didn’t do any romance storylines at all.  I didn’t miss it this season, and 13/Yaz seemed more likely than anything.
I also loved that they took on racism in a couple of big ways this series.  I felt like the only big swing-and-miss episode was Ker-Blam! where they were so close to really hammering down a good message in the episode and then it felt like Jeff Bezos himself came in and rewrote the last 10 minutes.
TBH there were a couple of episodes that I had COMPLETELY forgotten about, especially the one with Chris North and the big spiders.  Like while I was watching it I had a vague memory of seeing it before, but not up until then.  I’d also forgotten about the New Year’s episode last year with Ryan’s dad.  I only remembered to watch it because after the final episode I was like “Wait, wasn’t Ryan’s dad supposed to be in this season?” and so I went to hunt for the episode.
SO... that’s it.  I was actually a little shocked last night when I finished up the New Year’s episode and realized... I was DONE.  I made it back through eleven seasons and... it was worth it.
Some final thoughts... and I’m just picking a few things out here off the top of my head, I wasn’t keeping a list all the way through so I’m sure I’m going to think of other things after hitting Post, but here we go.
---------
COMPANION RANKINGS: God Tier: Martha Jones
Faves: Bill Potts, Rory Williams, River Song
I love you so much: Donna Noble, Amy Pond, The Fam (All together!), Jack Harkness, Mickey Smith, Wilfred Mott
Very very Good: Rose Tyler, Nardole
I Still Like You: Clara Oswald
---------
FAVE SEASON: I mean, it’s still gonna be Martha’s season with an honorable mention of the second half of 4.
If you take Martha Jones out of the equation, it’d probably be either 6 through 7.0, or Bill’s season.
LEAST FAVORITE:  The second half of 7, for sure, and the first half of 8 is kinda rough.  It’d be easy to say season 1, as well, but I don’t think that’s entirely fair, as I think the age of the show really shows there and there was a lot of getting-on-their feet they had to do.  There’s still a lot of good there, you just have to look for it harder.
---------
Favorite Specials:
The Husbands of River Song, #1 favorite no question
The Day of the Doctor a close second.
Honorable mention to the Night of The Doctor for the canonical return of Eight.  Seriously, the first time I saw that it may have been the single most joyous moment of New Who for me.
Least Favorite:
I mean, I haven’t rewatched two of them yet since I remember not liking them.
Also Voyage of the Damned was just even worse than I remembered it.
I Cried The Hardest:
Amy and Rory’s leaving in The Angels Take Manhattan
River’s death in the Library
The end of Doomsday
Danny’s death
The end of Vincent and the Doctor
Prem’s death in Demons of the Punjab, maybe the only single-episode character death that hit me that hard.
Happiest Tears:
Martha leaves the Doctor
The group in the TARDIS towing Earth home in Journey’s End
Twelve and River get 24 years together
Ryan calls Graham “Grandad”
Jackie and Alt-Pete meet/”reunite”
Heather shows up and... “saves” Bill, they go off on adventures.
Best Twists:
John Simms Return at the end of season ten.
YANA is the Master
Oswin is actually a Dalek
Heaven is run by Missy, and the Cybermen. (Damn I really love twists concerning the Master don’t I?)
Bill discovers she IS a Cyberman
Loudest cheers:
Mickey showing up in Doomsday
Martha laughs at the Master
Rory’s speech at the beginning of A Good Man Goes to War
The Doctor punches a racist who insulted Bill
Best dramatic moments:
Jack and the Doctor talk about Rose in Utopia
Twelve takes several billion years to punch through a wall
Just This Once, Everybody Lives!
Turn Left
The Doctor says goodbye Idris in The Doctor’s Wife
Missy and the Master’s mutually assured destruction.
Biggest Laughs for a good reason:
The entire poison scene in the Unicorn and the Wasp
Basically everything about the Doctor attempting to be normal in The Lodger.
Right, putting Hitler in the Cupboard.
Doctor, when I’m on a date, do not put the Pope in my bedroom.
Biggest Cringe:
Penis-head half-human Dalek
Concrete blowjobs
Anytime a lady slapped/hit a guy not in self-defense
Old goblin Ten / Jesus Ten in Last of the Time Lords
Most of The End of Time part 1
Eleven forces a kiss on Jenny in The Crimson Horror (THAT deserved the slap.)
There’s a lot of things I could point out in season 1 but I’m grading season 1 on a curve.
Favorite non-companion recurring characters:
Danny Pink
Brian Williams
Jackie Tyler
Worst Villians:
“Love And Monsters”
“Fear Her”
The eye-crud sleep monster with Twelve
I kinda wanna say the Daleks are so overdone it’s hard to get excited about them anymore, though I did kinda like what they did in “Resolution” (13′s New Years episode last year.)
OK I honestly don’t know if I want to put “A sentient universe who is in the form of a large frog and just wants a BFF” in best or worst but I feel it belongs SOMEWHERE.
Best Villians:
Missy
Whatever the fuck that thing is in Midnight
House
Got a Raw Deal award:
Adam (Seriously, he was told nothing and did nothing wrong via what he’d been told?!
Donna
Bill (Seriously, TEN YEARS SCRUBBING FLOORS? only to not be saved by 2 hours and then turned into a cyberman and killed again?)
Most Bothersome Lack of Continuity:
The rules for meeting yourself / interfering in the past.
Uh so who was the Not-Danny astronaut in “Listen” anyway?
Most Improved on a Rewatch:
The Fires of Pompeii because... ten and twelve?  It used to be one of my least favorite eps of season 4.
the Daleks in Manahattan episodes I guess just because I liked them more this time though they’re still not great.
Seeing all of River’s timeline in such a short period of time
Gotta say I enjoyed Planet of the Dead a normal amount when before I used to really dislike it.
Best Premiere of a Doctor:  The Eleventh Hour Roughest Premiere of a Doctor: Deep Breath, since I’m grading season 1 on a curve. Best Exit of a Doctor: Honestly?  I’m gonna give this one to Nine.  He sacrificed himself to save Rose, and he died too soon.  It seemed a fitting end, if too quick.
Roughest Exit of a Doctor: I’m going to go with Eleven here.  It came at the end of what I felt was the worst period of New Who.  The episode itself was... I kind of felt like it was overwraught and didn’t pack quite the same punch as the other three.  Say what you will about the “I Don’t Wanna Go” line with Ten and Twelve needing to be convinced to regenerate at all.  Matt Smith did the best with what he was given, but he wasn’t given much in the entire last run of his episodes after having some of the BEST episodes the previous two and a half seasons.
Best Premiere of a Major Companion: Honestly?  Still gotta go with The Eleventh Hour, for both Amy and Rory and the great way they were both set up and the mysteries of the season.
Worst Premiere of a Major Companion: If you don’t count Asylum of the Daleks (which I thought was great) as Clara’s premiere, then it was definitely Clara’s “The Bells of Saint John”.  No contest.  I don’t think ANY of the rest of them were done poorly, TBH.  I guess I’d have to go with “Rose”, because the Autons themselves are pretty meh and the plastic wasn’t great.
Best (Main) Exit of a Major Companion: This one is more difficult. Doomsday deserves a nod.  Martha Jones walked the world and ended on her own terms.  Journey’s End saw the end of an entire era of companions we loved.  River showed up and died on the same day, but her final appearance is one of my favorite episodes ever.  The Angles Take Manhattan was SO GOOD.  But The Doctor Falls was exciting and tense and tragic.  Hell, even Clara’s final episodes were great.
Honestly, this shouldn’t even be a question.  I can’t choose.  I can’t think of a single one I didn’t love.
Anyway, thanks for reading this, if you got this far!  Know what?  Doctor Who is still a great show, even if it’s not an obsession anymore.  I can see myself doing this rewatch again in a few years, and I’m super looking forward to the next season starting in a couple of weeks!

Writing the alternate finale (and I’m still not promising anything until it’s posted), but I realised that I basically have nothing to guide me here, because I actually kind of hate nearly every finale Doctor Who has ever done.
Series One: Actually really like this one, only gripe is the kiss - look, I’m sorry, but all these years later and it’s still too much of an age-gap between actors for me not to be hurtled out of the moment going ‘nyeeeeh’ like Joey Wheeler.
Series Two: The sheer volume of ‘Feel damn you, feel’ is enough to force me to do the opposite, and is the start of RTD attempting to smother me with a pillow while the sound of ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ plays tinnily in the background for the rest of Ten’s entire goddamn run.
Series Three: Yana - Good. Sound Of Drums - Great. And then you solved it all with Floaty Jesus Doctor. And more crying. The Last Of The Damn Whiners.
Series Four: Towing the Earth home. No. The finale Chibnall liked so much that years later he’d use so many bits of it he’d be forced to lampshade that fact, and the finale Moffat hated so much he devised an entire companion’s arc just to show his fanfic of what should have happened to Donna Noble.
I don’t know if we’re counting the finale to the specials, but that you didn’t follow up with the Time Lord Victorious stuff and I only had five minutes of an actually fascinating Tenth Doctor that I didn’t want to slap in the face, kills me. You could have brought that character back for me right there with proof that all this had been leading up to a perfect storm of character flaws, but no. Eff you.
Series 5: Can’t even pinpoint why I don’t like this one, but I don’t. Logically it hits all the right buttons for me, and yet. Meh? More complicated than complex perhaps. Or maybe it’s just that you blew up the TARDIS and I was filled with a mix of both grief and ‘I know you’re going to have to fix it so just get on with it’.
Series 6: The only one where I don’t feel like I can even do a synopsis for it. Doctor dies and now don’t feed the pterodactyls in Hyde Park? Definitely more complicated than complex. Like the themes are built up to, but the actual realisation of those themes (world turns into Wonderland etc), eh, not so much. And once again, I know this has got to be fixed, so there’s no drama here.
(Is this my problem? Because I like Moffat’s specials and regeneration episodes and all of those have both drama and uncertainty and the payoff? I’m allergic to the stories where we know the problem has to be fixed, or we can’t continue?)
Series 7: Somehow doesn’t feel like a lot happens, but I’m not sure this even can count as a full finale because it’s to lead into Day Of The Doctor. It’s alright. I prefer River whenever she isn’t with the Doctor because then she becomes more deified and less fun. And I’m sorry, but the line was clearly supposed to be “Look at that. I’m the Impossible Girl after all”, because look mate, no-one got your souffle metaphor, and no-one got the fact that ‘the impossible girl’ was supposed to be a subversion because he self-fulfilling-prophecied the thing.
Series 8: Fine, but relentlessly depressing whenever there’s no Missy on screen. Whether that’s a deliberate choice to bond us with the character, I dunno, your mileage may vary. I hate how much is never explained - how are you uploading dead people’s consciousnesses? Why does this concept turn up no less than three times in your run but you don’t do anything to tie it together? Where’s Missy’s TARDIS? Who is the peppy pseudo-demon dude? And why don’t I see more of The Good Place cus no I don’t have to, but I want to see what she did.
Series 9: ...Good. The billion years thing was a bit much, because it makes such a huge scale my mind can no longer wrap around the concept and therefore ditches it and any further implications about it, but good.
Series 10: I’m traumatised. Like, I feel like that might have been a good finale, but I’ve never been able to watch it again, so how could I really say?
Series 11: *New Chibnall pulls off his mask to reveal he was Old Chibnall the entire time except this one had finally got around to watching Star Wars*

How Should Doctor Who Celebrate its 60th Anniversary?
https://ift.tt/3hJ3QeV
Since hitting screens in 1963, Doctor Who has gone from televisual titbit to cultural phenomenon to institution to something approaching a secular religion. It’s older than Star Trek and Star Wars, if not quite as world-renowned; it’s younger than The Twilight Zone, yet more frequent, and frequently successful, in its iterations. True, Doctor Who spent many long years in the wilderness, but then so did Jesus, and things turned out okay for him. You know… eventually.
The show owes its laudable longevity to a series of happy accidents, shrewd moves and fortuitous casting decisions in its formative years, not least of which was the radical re-casting of the main character after William Hartnell became too unwell to continue; a bold gambit that could just as easily have soured the audience and sunk the show as cemented its status as a pop culture behemoth. Thankfully – as well we know – the introduction of the concept of Regeneration was the key to Doctor Who’s enduring presence, adaptability and relevance. While William Hartnell wowed a generation of children and their families as the curmudgeonly yet kindly First Doctor, without Patrick Troughton’s affable, vulnerable and very human turn as the Second Doctor, there might not even have been a fifth anniversary, much less the one we’re approaching.
Doctor Who – the world’s longest-running sci-fi show – is now on the cusp of its 60th anniversary, a milestone it will reach in November 2023 with, well… who knows who at the helm. But how should it commemorate its anniversary? What would fans like to see? First, let’s jump in the TARDIS and find out how the show has marked its previous anniversaries.
10th Anniversary: ‘The Three Doctors’ (1973)
‘The Three Doctors’ wasn’t an anniversary celebration in the way we’ve come to understand it now. There was little pomp or spectacle, not by Who standards anyway. It barely even qualified as an anniversary story, sneaking in at the start of 1973, many long months before the show’s actual birthday. Instead, the first multi-Doctor story was a quiet affair, the highlight of which was, naturally, the barbed banter between Troughton‘s bumbling space hobo and Pertwee’s aristocratic martial artist. Of course, Hartnell’s First Doctor featured too, forming the triumvirate promised in the title, although owing to ill health, his appearances were rationed and entirely confined to the TARDIS’ viewing screen, from where he doled out advice and withering put-downs.
In this mildly ho-hum but fun adventure, the Doctors come face to face not only with each other, but also Omega, Gallifrey‘s greatest figure of legend, who in his isolation and rage has become a supremely camp villain, fond of squatting and plotting in pocket-dimensions with only telepathically-controlled blobs of goo for company. I guess it’s true what they say: never meet your heroes.
20th Anniversary: ‘The Five Doctors’ (1983)
By 1983, things had been kicked up a notch. Here we had an ambitious tale that weaved together 20 years’ worth of Doctors, and their friends and enemies. No amorphous blobs or bonkers old Time Lords in ball-gowns here, but Cybermen, Daleks, Yetis, The Master – and newcomer the Raston Warrior Robot, a sort of ninja-dancing death machine in a tight lycra gimp-suit.
As before, the anniversary show’s title was something of a misnomer, though admittedly ‘The Three Doctors, No Doctor and a Sort of Doctor’ probably wouldn’t have been as arresting. Tom Baker declined to participate, necessitating the use of stock footage from the then-incomplete serial ‘Shada’ to represent the Fourth Doctor. William Hartnell had died in 1975, and so The First Doctor was portrayed by Richard Hurndall (who himself died less than a year after transmission of ‘The Five Doctors’). Still, what the feature-length episode lacked in marquee names, it made up for with a state banquet of companions, even bringing back K9. We see the Second Doctor chumming up with the Brigadier and Captain Yates (plus experiencing a vision of Jamie and Zoe), the Third Doctor teaming up with Sarah Jane Smith, and the First Doctor reuniting with his granddaughter, Susan, who seems to have completely forgotten he’d abandoned her in a far-future, war-ravaged earth at the close of ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’.
The story is a nonsensical, confusing, over-the-top mess, nothing more than a rising pyramid of side-quests and fan-service set-pieces all culminating in a damp squib of an ending. But you know what? To quote Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor: it’s fantastic. The best and only approach to ‘The Five Doctors’ is to switch off your critical faculties, sit back, and let warm rivulets of novelty and nostalgia rinse their way over your amygdala. Coo as the First Doctor tricks the Cybermen at electric chess. Cheer as the Second Doctor encounters his old nemesis the Yeti. Laugh your pants off as the Third Doctor uses a tow rope to save Sarah Jane from the perils of a very slight incline. And lament that the whole episode wasn’t just the Doctors trapped in a room together being really, really catty with each other.
25th Anniversary: ‘Silver Nemesis’ (1988)
The show’s 25th anniversary year gave Sylvester McCoy‘s Seventh Doctor his first taste of both the Daleks and the Cybermen. ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ wasn’t just McCoy’s best, it was arguably one of the best of the Classic Who era. The Seventh Doctor brooded, calculated and plotted, a noticeably darker figure to the spoon-playing, spoonerism-addicted, spoonish buffoon we’d been introduced to in Season 24. His vengeful, genocidal actions at the close of the serial pretty much kick-started the Time War. Ace was on fine form, too, dashing around Coal Hill school in 1963 wielding explosives and a baseball bat. ‘Silver Nemesis’ was the actual anniversary episode, and it was by far the weaker of the two commemorative offerings, but still a tremendous amount of silly fun. Nazis, Cybermen, medieval interlopers, an angry statue, the Doctor bopping to jazz. What’s not to like?

30th Anniversary: ‘Dimensions in Time’ (1993)
By the time Doctor Who‘s 30th anniversary came along in 1993, the show had already been cancelled for four years, entering that phase of its history known to fans as The Wilderness Years. The show had become, in deed and in memory, a parody of itself; a forgotten, end-of-the-pier relic. The only thing left of its legacy was a shared perception of how it had been at its campiest and silliest. All of this is painfully apparent in ‘Dimensions in Time’, a horrific charity crossover special somewhere between Doctor Who and BBC soap opera EastEnders. Thankfully, this two-parter isn’t considered canon, though I’m happy to provide the extra ‘n’ to have it shot out of one.
On the one hand, you could say that this was just a diverting little segue to raise money for sick children, and thus shouldn’t be judged too harshly, nor taken too much to heart. On the other hand, this was the only Doctor Who content produced for its anniversary year, so it’s hard not to interpret the existence of ‘Dimensions in Time’ existence as a hard slap in the face from an infinitely rolling multiverse of giant outstretched hands.
While ‘The Five Doctors’ leaned into nostalgia, ‘Dimensions in Time’ is entirely composed of it, chopping and changing Doctor and Companion combos in an orgy of What-If-ness (though admittedly, it was nice to see the Sixth Doctor get his chance to interact with the Brigadier, even if he was just shouting things at him over the noise of a helicopter). The Rani here completes her journey from plausible character with complex motivations to full-blown panto baddy. Tom Baker again sits this one out, opting instead to deliver ASMR from inside a computerised lava lamp. Near the climax of the piece, EastEnders‘ Albert Square falls under attack from a multitude of Who’s most infamous monsters (and some not so), and no-one except the Doctors and their revolving retinue of companions seem to care. It’s hard not to perceive a corollary with how the show itself was regarded by the general public at that time, a state of affairs not helped by audio-visual snot like this. In retrospect, the best 30th anniversary celebration would have been none at all.
40th Anniversary: ‘Scream of the Shalka’ (2003)
‘Scream of the Shalka’ was produced to tie in with Doctor Who‘s fortieth anniversary. It aired as a series of fully-animated webisodes – a forerunner of the animation now routinely used to resurrect lost episodes from Classic Who’s yesteryears. It starred Richard E Grant as a now non-canonical version of Gallifrey’s most famous traveller, and put him toe-to-toe with a race of inter-dimensional, world-conquering, telepathic, super-sonic lava beasts. It was written by Who aficionado Paul Cornell (who would later pen ‘Father’s Day’ and ‘Human Nature/The Family of Blood’).  And it was good, very good indeed.
Richard E Grant’s Doctor is tall, gaunt and imposing, with a style of dress somewhere between vampire royalty and ostentatious undertaker. He’s blunt, withering, cantankerous and all-round deliciously alien, much like Peter Capaldi at the beginning of his tenure as the Twelfth. When he orders wine from an English bar, Alice (Sophie Okonedo) his server and companion-to-be, tells him, ‘We only do dry or sweet,’ to which he spits back, ‘And I don’t do sweet.’ There is also a plaintive, desperate loneliness about this Doctor, evident from the presence in his TARDIS of an android containing the consciousness of the Master (Derek Jacobi, who would later play the Master again on TV next to David Tennant’s Tenth) with whom he travels.
All of this would have been interesting to unpack and explore had ‘Scream of the Shalka’ precipitated a full and continuing series, which was the intention at the time, a plan stopped only, of course, by the announcement that the show would be returning to television. This blessed move had not only been inspired by but made possible by work on this project. Now that’s a 40th anniversary present and a half.
And with that, Christopher Eccleston would be the ninth Doctor, not Richard E Grant, and while that was, well, fantastic, it’s impossible not to wonder… what if?
50th Anniversary: ‘Day of the Doctor’ (2013)
By the dawning of its 50th year, the show had been back on screens for eight years and three Doctors. The modern incarnation of the show had re-ignited the nation’s love affair with Doctor Who, adding widespread critical acclaim and global commercial success to its former cult appeal. It was clear this anniversary special had to be its biggest and boldest yet, and so it proved.
Showrunner Steven Moffat brought his best mind-bending, timey-wimey-ness to bear on ‘Day of the Doctor’, a story that brought together UNIT, Zygons, time-travelling paintings, a re-framing of the Time War, the re-emergence and resurrection of Gallifrey, and, of course, the sheer delight of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors having the time of their lives teaming up. Added to the mix, in lieu of the Ninth Doctor (after Christopher Eccleston declined to participate), was John Hurt’s The War Doctor, a grizzled, frazzled veteran of The Time War – The Doctor who came to exist because he was capable of doing things that other Doctors couldn’t or wouldn’t but who, in the end, proved himself more than worthy of Doctor-hood. Not to mention the appearance of the mysterious Curator at the episode’s end, sporting a very familiar yet age-worn face.
2013 was an embarrassment of riches for the show. Not only did we get the exciting and engaging ‘Day of the Doctor’, but ‘An Adventure in Space and Time‘, the touching and contemplative story of William Hartnell’s (here played by future First Doctor, David Bradley) relationship with the show; ‘The Night of the Doctor’, a mini-episode that featured the welcome return of the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann); and, of course, the absolutely wonderful ‘The Five-ish Doctors’, a surrealist, meta, very funny, Curb Your Enthusiasm-style romp that followed the exploits of Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy as they tried desperately to insert themselves into the 50th anniversary celebrations.
60th Anniversary: TBA (2023)
So what of the 60th? Traditionally, these kinds of milestones aren’t celebrated with as much intensity and fervour as, say, the 25th or the 50th. However, given that the show appears to be going through a decline in ratings and popularity, perhaps a big barnstormer is just what the Doctor ordered; something to give the show a shot in the arm to see it through the next six decades, rather than risk it tumbling over a cliff and staggering into the desert of its next wilderness years.
A multi-Doctor story seems the sure-fire way to do that. But who, and how many? Though Christopher Eccleston has returned to the Whoniverse in Big Finish form, the jury is still out on whether he’d be willing to participate in a fully-fledged BBC iteration of the show again. While the rest of the modern contingent’s faces are still fresh, though, it would be a joy to see the Tenth, Eleventh, Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors get together. Perhaps even in tandem with the Eighth Doctor, who surely deserves another crack at the small-screen whip, however brief. It’s more likely, though, that Jo Martin’s Fugitive Doctor would be the one to join them, contingent upon whether or not she returns in the upcoming 13th season, and how her arc pans out.
How about involving the classic Doctors? Not in a peripheral capacity as a sequel to ‘The Five-ish Doctors’ (although that would be very welcome) but due to the almost infinite possibilities inherent in the premise of the show, it surely wouldn’t be difficult to fashion a story in which Doctors Four to Seven returned togged up in their trademark outfits, along with their contemporary, and very age-worn faces. Perhaps some entity could pluck them from the time-streams and hold them captive, explaining their appearance through some sort of malfeasance or timey-wimey-ness. Big Finish has already given us the supreme delight of the Tenth Doctor teaming up with the Fourth and Fifth Doctors. What a joy it would be to behold the Sixth and Twelfth Doctors trying to out-bicker each other, or the Fourth Doctor passing judgement on the Eleventh’s bow-tie?
Might other, more unexpected Doctors appear? Thanks to the precedent set by The Mandalorian in plucking the character of Ahsoka Tano from the Star Wars’ animated universe, and setting her down in live-action continuity, there’s no reason why the Whoniverse can’t do the same with The Shalka Doctor. ‘But he’s not canon,’ I hear you cry. Perhaps so. But the seismic aftershocks of ‘The Timeless Children’ took canon and crushed it to dust. If we’re going to be stuck with it, might as well extract as many pluses from it as possible before some future showrunner decides to retcon the whole affair. It doesn’t even need to be connected to existing lore. If there are multiple, even infinite, dimensions out there, the Shalka Doctor may very well hail from one of them.
As to monsters? The Daleks and the Cybermen have been rather over-used lately, and their appearance in an anniversary special would be neither special nor especially welcome. It may be time to bring back an old monster or foe, one of supreme power that could give the Doctors a run for their money. Could the Black Guardian again don his crow-hat and return to wreak havoc with time? Or even the mighty Sutekh, who in ‘The Pyramids of Mars’ almost destroyed both the Fourth Doctor and the very world itself?
Whatever happens on Doctor Who’s next big anniversary, let’s just pray to the cosmos that it veers closer in tone to ‘Day of the Doctor’ or ‘The Five Doctors’. Nobody wants to see a cross-over with Coronation Street.

For Rose...Love, the Doctor
Pairing: Ten x Rose
Rating: Teen and Up
written for @doctorroseprompts 31 Days of Ficmas (day 25 - presents). based on this prompt by @natural--blues
AO3  TS
Rose and the Doctor walked arm in arm back to the TARDIS. “Did you have a nice time, love?” Rose lifted her head from the Doctor’s shoulder and smiled up at him. “I did. It was lovely of Sarah Jane to invite us. Thank you.” Rose kissed the Doctor on the cheek before once again leaning against him. “Why are you thanking me?” Rose squeezed his arm. “I know you had somethin’ to do with it. Since you made that promise to my mum, you always make sure we spend part of the Christmas season on Earth.” “I...you knew?” “Of course I knew.” “You never said anything about it.” Rose shrugged. “I guess I was afraid if I said anything, you’d stop. An’ I appreciate it, I really do.” The Doctor stopped walking and turned to face Rose. “Oh, Rose.” He hugged her and kissed her forehead. “I won’t stop just ‘cos you said something. It’s our own Christmas tradition.” Rose hugged him back and relished being in his embrace.
“Now then, Rose Tyler. Where would you like to spend Christmas Eve? If you want to stay on Earth, we could go to Saint Gall, home of the largest Christmas tree in Switzerland. They need a helicopter to fly it in. Or we could go to Christmas, a little town on-” Rose put her fingers on his lips. “I wanna spend Christmas Eve at home. Jus’ the two of us.” The Doctor beamed at her. “Brilliant! That fits in with my plans for your present anyway.” He grabbed her hand and towed her toward their blue, police box. Rose laughed at his exuberance and skipped after him. He burst through the doors into the console room and began his dematerialization dance around the console. “How about you pick us up some hot cocoa in the galley and meet me in the library? I’ll send us into the vortex and then collect your gift.” As he lapped passed her, Rose caught him about the waist and kissed his cheek. “Library it is. See you in a few.” She stepped back and watch him for a few seconds. Shaking her head in amusement, she left to fetch their hot chocolate. Fifteen minutes later, Rose was seated on the couch by a crackling fire in the library. She had her legs tucked under her, was snuggled under her favorite fuzzy throw, and sipped at her hot chocolate. She heard the door creak open and turned to offer one to the Doctor. Her jaw dropped. She placed her cup off to the side and stood to face him. Her eyes raked over him and she felt her face heat up. “Merry Christmas, Rose!” The Doctor was wearing nothing but a smile and a long, red ribbon. It wrapped around him mummy-style from thigh to waist with one part looped over his shoulder. She could just make out the bow tied at his lower back. Rose glanced up at his smirking face. “See something you like?” Rose cleared her throat. “Maybe. I...I haven’t examined the package properly.” “Well, have at it.” He put his hands on his hips and puffed out his chest. Rose walked closer, her eyes following the single strand up and across his chest. She circled behind him and followed it down his back. She smiled at the big, jaunty bow and a gift tag dangling from it. She leaned over to read it. “For Rose...Love, the Doctor.” She made her way once again to stand in front of him. “Well?” “You suck at wrapping.” His face fell, “Oh, you don-” “Look how much you left exposed.” She ran her finger over his abs leaving quivering muscles in her wake. “Tsk. Tsk. Now, I know exactly what I’m getting.” She licked her lips and glanced down. Sure enough another part of him was starting to make its presence known. Her grin widened. The Doctor was struggling to control his breathing. “Are you...not happy with your gift?” “I never said that.” Rose leaned up on her toes and kissed him. “Don’t you know? You’re all I’ve ever wanted.” His eyes crinkled at the corners with his smile. “Um, well then, wanna unwrap your gift?” “Absolutely.” Biting her lip, she reached around his back to the bow and tugged.

The Girl Who Died (Doctor Who S09E05)
Tumblr media
Today Drew is forced to watch and recap “The Girl Who Died”, the fifth episode of Doctor Who’s ninth series. Clara and the Doctor have arrived in Viking times just as a group of hostile aliens have come to raise some hell. Can the Doctor help the Vikings help themselves? And what’s his connection to a young woman named Ashildr?
Keep reading to find out…
Eli, I loved your latest recap, and I’m thrilled you enjoyed the episode so much! I agree that it was a great bit of visual storytelling to finally see Giuseppe’s socks come sliding down, and Sophia’s joy at finally having her curse pay off was really great to see. I, personally, think I could find the silver lining of being trapped in a bathroom stall by an angry Bea Arthur, but I agree that Blanche was due for some confrontation. And Betty White really sold the wedding-horny Rose! I’ve always thought this was a funny episode and that all of the Girls got a moment to shine, so I’m really glad that you had so much fun with it! For now, though, I hear the horns of war blowin’, so that must mean it’s time to tackle my own recap.
Buttocks tight!
Episode directed by Ed Bazalgette and written by Jamie Mathieson & Steven Moffat
We start off with things for Team TARDIS in a bit of a state. Clara is adrift in space with a spider thing in her suit and the TARDIS is falling apart as the Doctor tries to reach her. The Doctor does manage to reach and save her, and they discuss a recent mission. They step outside and are promptly greeted by some caricatures of Vikings.
After the credits we arrive in the Viking village, where the party, with Clara and the Doctor in tow, are greeted by their friends and family. In the village there’s a young girl named Ashildr (Masie Williams), and she and the Doctor share an odd moment. The Doctor says he’s never seen the girl before, but he says there’s something about him that’s got his goat. The Doctor pretends to be Odin in an attempt to not be a prisoner anymore, but this becomes problematic as a dude appears in the clouds and appears to be the actual Odin. Odin sends down some robots to attack the Vikings, saying the strongest warriors are going to be taken to Valhalla. The robots beam up the strongest warriors of the village, and Clara and Ashildr get taken, too.
Valhalla looks a lot more like the inside of a spaceship than an eternal party, and one of the Vikings gets iced when he tries to leave the cell they’re all in. The walls of the cell suddenly begin to contract, pushing all the occupants toward their doom. Back in the village, the Left Behind Vikings mull over how they didn’t make it into Valhalla. The Doctor tries to convert them all into atheism, and back in Valhalla we see that out of everyone taken only Clara and Ashildr have survived. They come face to face with Odin and his robo-Valkyries, and we find out that Odin is drinking the adrenaline and testosterone which was extracted from the Vikings who just got killed. Clara manages to convince him that she has a pal with technology that surpasses him, so he needs to just pack up and bother another planet. Ashildr, however, ain’t havin’ that. This dude has mocked her gods and killed her friends, and he’s gonna get his ass handed to him by her crew. This gets Odin’s blood a’flowin’, and he says his robo-Valkyries are going to face off against the Vikings tomorrow.
Clara and Ashildr are sent back down to the village, and the Doctor lets Clara know that Odin and his squad are members of a race called the Mire, who are among the deadliest warriors in the galaxy. They let everyone know about the fight coming tomorrow and the Doctor says they should leave before the Mire attack, but the Vikings say they’re going to stay and fight. The Doctor points out that all the actual warriors have been taken away, leaving only farmers craftsmen, but the villagers say they’re Vikings nonetheless and they’re gonna whoop some Mire ass. The Doctor does his best to shame them into running away, but they’re still sticking around. Ashildr asks him to stay and help them, but he refuses. Outside he gives Clara some honestly ridiculous excuse about how if he manages to save the village without using the TARDIS or his sonic sunglasses then word will get around and Earth will be a target (because all the other times he’s saved Earth hasn’t made it a target somehow?), but there’s still, like, half an hour in this episode so I think it’s safe to safe he’s going to save the village.
The Doctor begins training the remaining men in the village, because we can’t have the women of the village protecting themselves, and Clara assures Ashildr that the Doctor will come up with a great plan sooner or later. The training goes really badly, and Clara tells him he needs to think of a new way to win. The Doctor and Ashildr have another moment, and she admits that she thinks her village is going to be slaughtered. Ashildr says she’s always been a bit of an oddball in the village, but the people here love her and she loves them, and she’s not willing to leave them. A village baby clues him into the fact that the village has access to electric eels, which gives the Doctor an idea.
The villagers work through the night, and the Mire arrive the next morning to find them all getting turnt in the longhouse. The villagers use the amplified electricity of the eels to take out a bunch of the Mire soldiers, and then The Doctor slaps a Mire helmet on Ashildr. She uses the telepathic link the Mire apparently share to project a spooky monster into the minds of the Mire, causing them all to retreat except for the would-be Odin. The Doctor explains that the Mire’s strength is based on its reputation, and now that the Mire have been defeated by a hunch of Vikings hicks their reputation is in danger. The Doctor says if the Mire don’t leave Earth, he’s going to post the video of the incident on Clara’s phone to space YouTube, and no one will be afraid of the Mire again.
The Mire reluctantly leave, but there’s still about ten minutes left in this episode so we’ve got some more stuff to deal with. Turns out the strain of wearing the Mire helmet was too much for Ashildr, and the girl is dead. The Doctor is horrified by this collateral damage, and he’s full of guilt over Ashildr’s death. He tells Clara that he’s sick of losing people, and Clara tries to comfort him. He says he could save Ashildr, but there are rules he’s supposed to follow so he can’t do anything about it. The Doctor suddenly has a brain blast; remember when he first got this face and couldn’t remember where he’d seen it before? He remembers now, and he knows he chose it to remind himself; he’s the Doctor, by golly, and he saves people.
He reprograms a chip from a Mire medical kit, and the chip is absorbed into Ashildr’s dead body. The Doctor says it’s repairing her, and it won’t ever stop repairing her. Ashildr gasps back to life, and the Doctor gives her father a second chip to pass onto her when she’s conscious. She can give the chip to whoever she wants, when she wants to. The Doctor quickly sets off for the TARDIS with Clara, explaining to her along the way that the chip inside Ashildr will never stop repairing her. Because of him she’s now lost the ability to die, making her essentially immortal. He left behind a second chip so she could choose a companion to be immortal with one day.
The Doctor thinks it’s possible he just made a major mistake, but only time will tell. He realizes that with the alien technology inside her, Ashildr isn’t just human anymore; she’s a Hybrid. Ashildr watches time pass before her while she never ages, and she doesn’t look… thrilled.
The End
~~~~~
I really liked this one! I liked how proud and battle-ready Ashildr was, and I’m interested to see what comes of her now that she’s an immortal. I don’t have a ton of deep thoughts for this one, but I’m really looking forward to the other half of the story next time!
Tune back in soon to catch Eli battle some long-buried demons with the next episode of The Golden Girls, “All Bets Are Off”, and then after that it’ll be my turn to wrap up this arc with my recap of the next episode of Doctor Who, “The Woman Who Lived”.
Until then, as always, thank you for reading, thank you for training and thank you for being One of Us!
