Concept I have to post before I feel asleep: NRC hosts a Parents' Day for the students' parents to visit their children and everyone is having a relatively fun day with their siblings, every but you. And so you hid yourself in the only place that nobody has a reason to go; Ramshackle. Thing is there's someone else who also has the same line of thought. Leona Kingscholar.
Leona, who is always second to Farena. Always the second prince, never just Leona. Leona, who efforts doesn't mean anything and nobody really tried to understand him, this Leona, who despite being smug and sarcastic all the time, doesn't want to meet his family.
And you both have an interesting chatting while drinking (whatever you want really but I just got back from my cousin's marriage and wine is a really good choice). By the end of the night you may have found you a new bestie or lovers, or whatever you want y'all to be, he feels seen by you and you have someone you can confide in on your darkest hours. This arrangement couldn't be better for the both of you.

everyone thinking that tim robin and jason robin were the same person is important to me actually. the erasure of jaybin as his own person the denial of his legacy as something of his own. the costume in his memorial case is the same design dick wore. public perception conflates jason and tim. jason himself is nothing had nothing nothing he did mattered. he bore this mantle he died in this costume and robin doesn't even bother to remember him.

that ivan loves till is the most obvious thing about them
but. does ivan know that…?
the ivan that regards his own feelings as shallow, the ivan that learned how emotions are expressed only from copying others… does he even know that the love he’s felt for so long is love? probably not. and part of the reason is the one he loves himself
because the easiest example he has of love is till's feelings to mizi. till outright calls it love, and ivan watches him so much he has to be aware of this and till’s love to mizi is totally unselfish, right. he doesn’t seem to actually want much from her—just that she's still there and still "mizi"
but ivan can't be satisfied with just watching he… wants. ivan wants till’s attention, till’s affection—
surely this selfish wanting can’t be love
...no wonder he was never able to express his feelings straightforwardly when he belittles them so much but he can’t stand not having anything either, so he does… whatever he does instead to get any scraps of attention he can, from someone he's convinced doesn't care about him at all only showing affection when till can't see it, right until he knows he's going to die
but ivan's feelings for till are all he still has of himself... to think of them as shallow...

I've seen this translated as "I should've been kinder" to him (till) or to her (sua)
but really, the one he should've been kinder to was himself

Charles' thing is that he wants to feel alive and that's part of the reason why he decided to never move on to the afterlife right? Meanwhile Edwin thinks Charles will move on and that he'll be alone again because 'he isn't good with people'.
But then when the Night Nurse shows up a second time Charles is ready to go wherever -including Hell- as long as Edwin shouldn't have to go back there, meanwhile Edwin refuses that they be split up, and both are okay with being sent together to the Lost and Found Department to be sorted out later as long as they're together-

...the 'almond room' thing in the unwanted guest IS a reference to/play on words on amygdala, right? (amygdala comes from the greek word for almond!) I didn't read that wrong? it is stupid sexy Ianthe coyly inviting Palamedes into a different chamber of her brain, as it were?
(also the pieces of meat -- the feeding or kissing, it's hard to say which of it all -- being present right from the beginning... ianthe DOES know exactly what has happened to her, doesn't she. palamedes is just cutting his way through her layers of denial and repression all merciless and scalpel-like to get her to admit it. or, she knows subconsciously at least -- each person comes in and feeds her something that she's helpless to stop from becoming a part of her even in her coffin, with bloody kisses. oh baby love is feeding me bad meat and I have no choice but to swallow it down. like yeah I suspect that is how human contact can feel when your sense of self and boundaries developed to be a specific kind of Fucked Up lol. that shit could make a person dream of being a diamond in a glass of wine; perfect, inviolable, untouchable, eternally separate and safe. In the words of Andrea Gibson in Prism:
They say the womb is where we learn love is knowing the cord that feeds you could at any moment wrap around your neck
that is quite literally ianthe's first introduction to love -- her sister, a cord around her neck. Corona is Ianthe's other self, a second soul running around outside of her body, and she seems to consider herself as responsible for (and entitled to) the preservation of Corona's soul as her own. the way this mirrors that growing up, Ianthe had to be two necromancers in one body to let them stay together. (twins and ghosts all the way down I guess.) she's still just trying to do the same thing, I think, she's simply put on some bigger boots about it. the central problem of lyctorhood, self vs. connection/love, rears its head once again -- Ianthe existentially wants total self-contained self-sufficiency, perfect control, sovereign sway and masterdom over her soul... but she wants that at the same time as being in uninterrupted (uninterruptible!), eternal and indelible intimacy with her sister, whose soul also cannot be allowed to change. which, you know. freedom and love don't coexist the way you want them to, Ianthe, no matter how clever you are there won't be a way to get what you want. (especially not with a sister whose idea of what love is seems to go more towards being consumed, made one, by whatever violence necessary -- 'she could have taken me'.) man. Ianthe is a spectacular and ongoing piece of work, but sometimes it's hard to see how she could ever have turned out otherwise considering the conditions she was born and raised under haha.
the two-way street of the horror of digestion, whether you're the devourer or the devouree. part of you in me, part of me in you, whether either of us likes it or not we're both changed by this. bad news: you can't get out of interconnectedness by finding the cleverest loophole around it, ianthe. nice try, though)

i’m experimenting with a new way of keeping minerva out of trouble (aka interfering with the later games in the series) by absolutely committing her to the entirely fruitless hunt for a cure to the calling, driven because her son is really adversely affected by the blight in his veins that he inherited from her. i’d tie in avernus and the architect and have each thread she follows let her down. it’s a pretty dark turn for the character to have her basically turn her back on her fellow mages despite all the power she briefly amasses, and say: none of that matters if me and mine can’t live to see it. but it does compel me. and it really compels me to have her fail in that as she’s never really failed before, for her to be a near ghoul in veilguard whose own experiments have done nothing but ruin her, and then to have mercy delivered by the actions of rook in whatever the fuck happens to the blight at the end of veilguard idk i don’t understand lore.
rook in this case would be elodie thorne, a character who minerva has never met before but who her actions in better days indirectly saved (if minerva hadn’t ended the fifth blight elodie would have been thrown at it as canon fodder; if minerva hadn’t spared loghain elodie wouldn’t be the strategist he taught her to be and wouldn’t have become who she did after adamant; if minerva wasn’t an inspiration then elodie’s dimming belief in being a hero might have been long since fully broken.) minerva always sets out to do everything on her own, believes she’s the only one she (or anyone else lol) can rely on, and there’s something fundamentally correct to me about not actually being able to save herself or what’s most important to her but being saved by the like, out of her own control, tremendous far-reaching effect she’s had on people

Guys guys wait
This is a super messy theory and my grammar is shit but listen
Wwatt self-ish album (also the last tapeworms album not including the live one) song Dr sunshine is dead essentially predicted the events that ensued after the tapeworms era
“For your self portraits, sign another name, well who could I be then if I’ll never be the same” = when his persona took a shift and changed his pseudonym:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right yeah, that was the entire thing about the song “Dr sunshine is dead, no more of that- here’s will wood” but the lyrics after
“I will be that sunshine” = the normal album era
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I will be that moon at night” = Incase i make it era
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Who else could I be/when I could hardly see” = Slouching towards Bethlehem/Mr wood is dead tour eras
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another noteable thing is the tones, with tna it’s cold and more blues, purples, greens while proclaiming to be “the sunshine” which would contribute incredibly to the two faced American suburbia dare-I-say modern day Christian mindset that is being portrayed with tna. Having the mask of of a perfect life and morels, but behind closed doors being in a living hell. Saying to be the truth and life while essentially hollow and heartless- henceforth cold. Thus giving the vibe of hard and guarded, the real moon at night.
With incase i make it, it’s said to be the “moon at night” while the album has more warm tones like yellows, oranges, and browns. The lyric also would be playing off to the line “what’s the moon made of” in tomcat disposables, which is a rather sad and solemn song that is accepting to death, giving it a soul filling feel. That brings me to the point whereas the portrayal of icimi is more of self exploration, reflection, depression, death, and acceptance, all wrapped up with a warm feeling inside, giving understanding and perspective of life and it’s consequences as well as it’s joys. It really shows the bittersweet nature of life as well as proves there is no permanent state of self, but rather that growth is inevitable, it just matters at what direction you’re growing and how to change that, warm and approachable. This giving the vibe of being vulnerable and tender, the real sunshine.
“I will be the sunshine” trying to prove you’re a great person, you have no faults, you’re always right and always win, nothing matters, we all die and be forgotten in the end.
“I will be the moon at night” accepting that you’re not the best but you keep trying, you have faults and their yours- it’s up to you to make up for them, accept when you’re wrong- sometimes you lose. when someone or something you know dies, remember them and cherish their memory, make something of yourself and/or their memory for life in the world to come.
anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk.

found a thing from two years ago in a little notebook should i expand on it
An orc arrives in Ost-in-Edhil, bearing a courier flag and a thick sheaf of papers. The top one is a letter, addressed to Tyelperinquar of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain, from Tar-Mairon, Lord of the East. Celebrimbor takes it with shaking hands before the assembled council. It reads:
--
Dearest.
I am no longer bound to any force above me. It is for me to decide my own priorities. I have decided, after some contemplation, that being someone you would not hate is a high priority. The messenger I have sent (who volunteered, even) will hopefully contribute to that aim.
You see, I have begun a project. I would like to alter the orcs, such that they are no longer bound to the Shadow but free to live as they will and hear the Doomsman when they die. I have had some success, but I often find myself wishing for your opinions.
Feel free to ask the messenger about the procedure; she has personal experience, and also copies of some of my more important notes. I am calling them the Unfettered. The current issues are:
The alteration to their souls is not always survivable.
Fixing them one at a time is tedious, and will take an Age or more at this rate.
Their children, even of two Unfettered orcs, are not always themselves Unfettered.
I would ask of you to read my notes, speak to my messenger, and form whatever opinion you like.
If you send her back with an answer, I will read it. If you visit, I will welcome you. If you summon me, I will arrive.
Yours,
Annatar
--
What the fuck.

Thinking about the lost potential in Wyll's arc and how much of a great parallel if everything Mizora did was solely to impress Zariel.
Like, she has an unused human form and Florrick called her "lady" Mizora when she attacked Wyll on the street. Imagine if Mizora secretly infiltrated the nobility in Baldur's Gate for years to get a better social standing and prep for Wyll's return. At the same time she is doing her best to break Wyll's strength so he'll accept more infernal influence and hopefully destroy enough of his will to make him a part of Zariel's cult and bring them into the city. Everything she did was just to please her lady. She does enjoy tormenting innocents, and she does take out her frustrations and failures on Wyll when she can, but none of it is truly for her.
Maybe she wasn't even as awful as she is now when she first met Zariel. Maybe she was another lost scared soul in the hells, abandoned by her infernal parent, and when Zariel took her in she became blindly devoted to her and changed everything about herself to please her new mistress and now we have to deal with the monster that she is today. Maybe we meet another devil who drops this lore on the player and comments on how Mizora is known as Zariel's faded out shadow from how poorly she emulates the arch devil.
And god, what a slap to the face would it be to Wyll and his dedication to the point of destruction. He will never be as awful as Mizora in any universe, but he did start a pact with her to save Baldur's Gate, and once nearly thought of taking in a barrel full of tadpoles so he'll be stronger and more useful. I am a firm believer that if he choose himself whether to break the pact or not, he would stay because he thinks his life is only worth for sacrifices. Who's to say that if he ever becomes Grand Duke with his father, he wouldn't fall back into old habits and start immolate parts of himself to please the city. Especially if it's to "make up" in staying with Mizora.
Just, connect Mizora more to Wyll. Make her his dark mirror of a world where he reshaped himself to his idols and lost his face along the way. Make her his villain in a way hurts more than just her actions.

Controversial take don’t kill me: Disney live action remakes aren’t bad on principle or as a concept but only because of *how* they are done (which means some have enough love in them not to be bad)

god the start of season 4 when agravaine is shamelessly manipulating arthur, trying to craft him into uther so he's more justified in his hatred of him, trying to isolate arthur from the people he cares about because its not proper or a sign of strength, and the fact that it works !! or it should, it almost does, but agravaine didn't account for merlin. merlin who isn't just a manservant, isn't just a kinda-sorta friend, isn't just an informal advisor, but is arthur's main pillar of support and council, merlin who would never let arthur lock himself away all alone, merlin who pushes arthur to the fucking limit and suffers his rages and his insults just so that arthur knows there's someone there. yeah, fuck, its all well and good that merlin's willing to die for him, but idk for me its the smaller acts of unwavering devotion that make merthur so fucking good.
