✧ CELEBRITY BIRTH CHART ANALYSIS ✧
— amy winehouse.
next in the birth chart analysis series is one of my favorite music artists, amy winehouse 🥀👩🏻🦱 i’ve always been fascinated with her—her life, style, and music. she’s literally everything and she was truly a unique and beautiful woman. i would like to show my appreciation for her existence and legacy by analyzing her chart ✨🖤
note: i do not know any of the celebrities i do readings on personally, i just like to decipher things. not everything has to be accurate.
ㅤ
✨👠 Amy Jade Winehouse was born on September 14, 1983 in Enfield, United Kingdom at 10:25pm. Amy Winehouse was a famous musician who gained popularity in 2003 from her debut album “Frank”, leading song being “Stronger Than Me”. Amy was most known for her unique soulful voice, amazing songwriting, and bass guitar skills. Winehouse was vicariously known for her sass, addictions, as well as her unhealthy relationship with her ex-husband Black Fielder-Civil. At some point, she was even considered one of the most disliked divas in the industry. Unfortunately, Amy passed away in 2011 just at 27 years old from an alcohol overdose. Her legacy lives on as she has inspired other popular artists such as Adele, Sam Smith, and Lana Del Rey. She is usually recognized by her iconic beehive hair, fabulous mole, and her eye-catching tattoos.
ㅤㅤ
she identified as:
࿐ a virgo sun, capricorn moon, & gemini rising.
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ— her personality.❞
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ
Venus sextile Ascendant shows that Amy had a unique and striking look that stood out to others on the first impression and in the public eye; significant features such as her mole, beehive hairstyle, and thick eyeliner makes her easily distinguishable to her fans. Winehouse also had vintage tattoos such as a pocket named "Blake" and a tattoo on her arm dedicated to her grandma Cynthia. She had an incomparable beauty; not to mention, tons of models, artists, and celebrities are inspired by her fashion, iconic features, and music style to this today. Since her Ascendant is in Gemini, she definitely had a witty, playful and sarcastic personality; and her Venus in Leo added the sassiness to her character which she was partially known for. Plus, she was a fashion icon and served lots of looks.
ㅤ
Moon conjunct Neptune can indicate that Amy had a sensitive and compassionate inner state. She was generous and understanding towards others. Additionally, she might have been very intuitive and easily interpret the energies in her surroundings. On the downside, this often makes someone who is selfless and tend to look out for other more often than themselves. Furthermore, she understood her emotions very well and she knew how to use mediums to express them. This aspect does call for someone who can easily be emotionally deceived or deluded. In this case, her conjunction is in the 7th house; she might have struggled with deception and emotional/mental confusion in her personal relationships. It could have been easy for her to fall victim to addictive relationships as was shown in her public relationship with her ex-husband Blake Civil-Fielder.
ㅤ
Prominent Neptunes are more than likely to fall to substance abuse as well. This is also shown in Sun square Neptune. Amy might have also struggled with confusion in her self-esteem, ego, or identity. With Sun in the 5th house and Neptune in the 7th house, she might have been the type to indulge in romantic relationships to escape from herself. This is the type of placement that tries to find their identity through their connections with others (This is also shown in her Neptune opposition Ascendant) This placement is also common in people who goes into casual relationships often. This makes someone who is creative, imaginative, and has potential to create beautiful art and projects.
ㅤ
Moon trine Mars could have made Amy someone who was an emotionally passionate lover. She must've loved expressing her adoration and admiration to her loved ones through her actions and efforts; and to her partners through sexual attraction. Additionally, she was a goal-oriented woman who must've saved a lot for herself in the future. I believe Amy talked about starting a clothing line in one of her street interviews, and at some point I think she was working with Fred Perry on a branding range. With Mars in the 4th house, it is possible that Amy had a desire to start a family or she had a specific passion about security or home life.
ㅤ
With Lilith trine Ascendant, Amy had this image of expressing herself unapologetically. She had striking sex appeal that was unique from other artists, especially with Lilith in the 10th house. With Lilith in Aquarius, perhaps Amy might have been ostracized or bullied for how different she was from others at some point in her life. Due to her trine, she learned how to embrace her differences and use this appeal to create the image she is known for today.
ㅤ
Moon sextile Saturn could indicate that Amy used to be an emotionally mature individual. She was a good partner and she was perhaps the type to stick with someone through thick and thin because she understood it all. This could show someone who has an old soul, and Amy definitely had an old soul. Amy began writing music just at 14 and made her debut album at 19. With Saturn in the 6th house, she was an orderly individual and she must've took marriage and partnerships seriously. Not to mention, she demonstrated her passionate love for Blake in their 6-year long relationship. Saturn in the 6th house within the aspects shows she was a sucker for routine and order, so she was most likely the one who wears the pants in her relationships and conducted when and how things would happen. She might've believed strongly in marriage as well with her Moon in the 7th house in this aspect.
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ
Sun conjunct Mercury easily makes someone who is very versatile, intelligent, and talented. Amy was proficient in a lot of things. This also calls to make a witty, introspective, and sarcastic individual who is often proficient at using their words in a eloquent way. Amy was also known for being a good songwriter and having great lyricism in her music. With Virgo in the 5th house, she may be someone who is subjected to perfectionism as she wants her arts and projects to come out exactly the way she envisioned them to be. This also makes her appear graceful in workings on an outer impression as well. Mercury square Neptune also makes someone who often struggles with verbal communication, she may have not been the best with talking to people clearly. But she might know how to communicate through other mediums such as music, poetry, and writing.
ㅤ
Moon trine Venus made Amy someone who knew how to incorporate their inner world and emotional state into beauty and the arts. It was easy for Amy to express how she felt through her music; as said, it was almost as though it was a therapeutic medium for her. Additionally, she also valued balance, love, and diplomacy more than anything. She also knew how to get along with others and was very well-liked by the people in her inner circle. She was more than likely willing to be there for others and cared for others as well. She must’ve loved children too or knew how to handle them. Most importantly, she couldn't live without her relationships, it was what made her inner world thrive.
ㅤ
With Mercury trine Chiron, as mentioned previously in childhood, Amy might have struggled with communicating with others. Perhaps she was a shy kid in school or she did not know how to socialize. Amy actually dealt with anxiety pretty often, especially on stage. She would mention that in interviews. That anxiety and her fidgety nature was also shown in her Mercury square ascendant. It is impossible that she could have struggled with feeling heard specifically since her Chiron is in the 12th house. Her way of truly feeling heard and making others feel heard was her talent in music, writing, and lyricism. A lot of people could easily sympathize and relate to Amy's music, especially in regards to relationships and self-love. Mercury-Chiron aspects in general also point towards delinquency or troubles in school. Amy actually was expelled from Sylvia Young Theatre school when she was fourteen for wearing a nose ring.
ㅤㅤ
Moon sextile Pluto signifies that Amy had an intense inner world. She experienced dark and huge emotions. Because of this, she was very understanding and comfortable with many taboo topics. She was very mature due to this. Amy dealt with a lot with her health, especially her mental health as shown in her Pluto in the 6th house in this aspect. Apparently, she suffered from bipolar disorder the more her dependencies worsened over the years. She also dealt with depression at a young age along with anxiety. She also dealt with bulimia long from her teens. Hence, she experienced worst so she understood it all. All of her hardships in this area, this helped her with finding motivation and reasoning too transform and become a better person.
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ— her relationships. ❞
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ
Amy has one of the most rarest placements. Only 8% of the population has a retrograded venus. First off, venus in retrograde immediately calls for someone who has a serious karmic lesson surrounding self-love, materialism, and values in this life. With Amy having Venus in Leo in the 4th house retrograded, this might have called for her to find confidence and assurance in herself as an individual in order to feel secure in her individuality and life. However, since she might have struggled with expressing these qualities. She might have experienced the opposite. She had to deal with being in the eyes of the public and her relationships being put under a spotlight when it most likely wasn't wanted. Amy had to deal with scrutiny and her addictive marriage being put under a microscope for an audience to get her life lesson through. Amy might have not liked fame as much and she was more of a humble person.
ㅤ
Venus trine neptune indicates that Amy had a dreamy, beautiful, and magical perception of love and beauty. She might have viewed it all as something that she incorporate into her life to build up security and establish relationships with others. She might have loved love and was willing to do anything it takes to experience it. She might have been used to falling with creative, selfless, and caring partners. Perhaps she fell in love with musicians and artists. This also calls for someone who is willing to try different styles or doesn't have a particular style at all.
ㅤ
Venus sextile Pluto could show that Amy also had a very interesting and intense love life. In a negative sense, she might have dealt with toxic relationships. In a positive sense, every person she has dealt with has given her some type of lesson that could help transform herself. In fact, she might have became an entirely different person after every connection. With Venus in the 4th, the initiative and reasoning for every transformation in her relationship was to build security in herself and the life she has.
ㅤ
Venus square Chiron calls for someone who often has a wound surrounding love, romance, beauty, and self-worth. Amy might have attracted tons of partners who needed to be saved or who would save her. She might have had a savior-martyr personality in regards to her connections. With her Chiron in the 12th specifically, the issue could have been she was never heard and could have depended on her relationships to help her feel so. This could signify low self-esteem or a feeling of insignificance.
ㅤㅤ
North Node in the 1st house conjunct her Ascendant shows that Amy's ultimate direction in life was to find herself and discover her true outlook on her life and what she wanted to do. This also shows that she was destined for popularity and recognition of some sort even if she wasn't famous.
ㅤ
ㅤㅤㅤ— legacy/image.❞
ㅤㅤ
ㅤㅤ
Mean Lilith in Aquarius in the 10th house indicates that Amy had a very provocative, taboo, and intense reputation during her prime. First, she has a different image than typical soul singers. Her beauty was rather unconventional and alluring. She also had a very unique voice. Others thought her voice was rather a bit soulful for a British singer. She also dealt with lots of hate, scrutiny, and criticism due to her public breakdowns and reactions. She was considered one of the most disliked divas in the industry at some point due to what she was going through. 10th house also represents the father. This aspect could also indicate being exploited by an authoritative or masculine figure in one's life whether that be through career or other things.
ㅤ
Mars opposite Midheaven shows that Amy's passions sourced from a different area of her life rather than her career. Amy's drive, desires, and goals come from her sense of security and comfort (with Mars in the 4th) In specific terms, her family and home life could be what motivates her the most to do what she does. She might have been someone who did not care too much about her career as a music artist, she was rather someone who was comfortable staying home and pertaining to her hobby without the need of showcasing it instead, especially since her Mars is in Leo. In fact, Amy said that she did not want to be famous. She "hated it".
ㅤ
Chiron trine Midheaven shows that Amy had an image and reputation of knowing how to incorporate her wounds and traumas beautifully into her music due to the issue of not feeling like she was heard when she was younger, especially with Chiron in Gemini in the 12th. She was able to transmit her words to an audience that understood her and how she felt. She made people understand an entirely different perspective on love, addiction, and many more unique topics. This aspect also might be the reason as to why she has a reputation of being "a victim" to her addictions and relationships, similar to Marilyn Monroe who has Chiron conjunct Midheaven in her chart.
ㅤ
Midheaven at the 11° shows that Amy had a humble and introspective mindset when it came to her image. On the other hand, her fame and legacy caused a charitable act to come from it all. In 2011, Jane Winehouse created the 'Amy Winehouse Foundation' which is a company that celebrates and honors the legacy of Amy and helps women who struggle with addictions.
ㅤ
Amy has her own asteroid called Asteroid Amy (3375)—she has the asteroid conjunct her Mars and sextile her Ascendant.

The Little Big Things - Setting the Standard for Accessibility in Theatre
The Little Big Things is a musical that recently opened at the West End's Soho Place and it is a stage adaptation of Henry Fraser's memoir of the same name. It is about Fraser's experience with becoming disabled and figuring out how to navigate life newly disabled.
Of course, the show portrays Fraser's life before and after becoming disabled. And this show comes up with a very simple solution that doesn't involve an abled bodied actor "cripping up" - they literally just double cast the role of Henry Fraser. They have abled actor Jonny Amies play Fraser pre-accident, and disabled actor Ed Larkin plays post-accident Fraser. Like the reality is, no one cares that the actors don't look identical.
Not only is Fraser played by a wheelchair user, as is another character, Agnes (Amy Trigg), but both their understudies are wheelchair users as well (Joseph Wolff and Elena Pitsiaeli). That is four wheelchair users in the cast of the show. The associate director, Nickie Miles-Wildin, is also a wheelchair user.
So the narrative that "there just aren't enough disabled performers" is a load of bullshit. Not only was this show able to hire five wheelchair users, but they also hired several other disabled/chronically ill cast and crew members. It is clear that in this show accessibility was a priority, not an afterthought, as it often is in theatre.
Like look at this beautiful representation:
This is a story about disability being told by disabled people, and this should really be the standard for the industry. I really hope that there are more shows like this created because this is the authentic representation disabled people deserve. We deserve to be able to tell our own stories.
Have a link to some of the music:

If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Thank you for asking! I had one person who sent me an ask related to this and then deleted it before I could answer (I think I scared them away yelling at other people in my asks 😂).
So here we go, a compiled overview of my TOP TEN FAVORITE MEDIA!! Some will be current that could change (like songs, ever changing) and others will be permanent (like shows).
NBC's Hannibal [Show]: It shouldn't come as a surprise that this is my top favorite piece of media of all time. Not to do the whole 'I liked it before it was mainstream' but I FOUND IT WHEN IT WAS STILL RELATIVELY CULT-LOVED AND GOT INTO IT WHEN IT WAS ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO. THE FANDOM FELT TINY ❗️ Anyway, I'm so glad to see how far it's come and how the fandom has grown. This remains one of the only series that was cancelled that I couldn't tell was actually cancelled because it still wrapped up so nicely in the last-aired season. I'm endlessly impressed with the character arcs, the dynamics, the PSYCHOLOGY (a huge deal for me), and especially the dialogue. I mean, I could list literally every element of this show and how tastefully it was used, but the main highlights are how artfully the gore is shown - giving great perspective of the killers whose eyes we mainly see through - and the dialogue. There's a surrealist tone to it, and so many of the lines are subtle poetry without being the hamfisted one-liners of so many other shows that try to do the same. The actors are incredible, the scenes are precisely paced, and just overall you can tell this was a work of the heart. I mean, more superficially, the homoerotic nature of Hannibal and Will's relationship appealed to me as soon as it was introduced, because GODS is it miles higher in chemistry than like ACTUAL EXISTING so-called LGBT romance shows. (I'm glaring FLAMING DAGGERS at the garbage Interview With a Vampire show in which they ruined everything but most of all the chemistry that the original story did so well.) In any case, please watch it! It's one of the best things I've ever seen.
Last Night in Soho [Film]: Directed by my favorite director, Edgar Wright, who has the most fantastic habit of matching musical beats to visuals (a particular love of mine), this film is GORGEOUS, for one. The colors and scenery, the editing, the lights, the creative shots, the effects, the MIRRORS! Don't get me started on the mirrors. I love mirrors. One of my favorite things about characters - although ONLY when done well - is the contrast of duality. Some of the best portrayals besides this one are in Tokyo Ghoul and Moon Knight, off the top of my head. It's hard to find portrayals I like, but this one shines above them all. There are technicalities on the actual character being dual, but I wouldn't spoil it for you. It's the journey of both a past and present woman, one struggling to find her place in the fashion industry, and one struggling to escape the sex industry before it devours her. I heavily related to certain themes in this one and was viscerally enthralled in the choices and character arcs made in certain scenes. It's cathartic, it's overwhelming, it's PURE ART. You're missing out if you never see this one.
HBO's Sharp Objects [Show]: On so many levels, this one speaks to my wounded little heart. Dealing with heavy topics like childhood trauma, parental abuse, self harm, child murders, the bad sides of southern/small-town culture, and mental illness, I don't know if there's another character that I feel quite as connected to as Amy Adams' portrayal of Camille Preaker. The outstanding detail of this one for me, personally, is Camille's mother, Adora. I can confidently say that there IS no other mother that resembles how my childhood felt than Adora, and because of that this show was a painful sort of catharsis. But I love feeling emotions to a dangerous degree, and I'll just say the finale of this one wiped me the fuck out. I'm currently rewatching it for the first time with my close friends, and I'm so scared to get to that finale again. Lmao. But in a good way. In any case, other than Adora, I also identified with the accurate and visceral portrayals of self harm and PTSD. The way that they show flashbacks and visually jumpscare the viewer WITHOUT the presence of blasting music was the show's shining glory. You have literal ASMR wind and crickets over shots of a dead child's missing teeth, blood hitting pavement, pornography on a cabin door, and then a hanged corpse in the corner of the bedroom, right there with Camille in the shot. It is...SO accurate to the feelings of PTSD. It's just so good. I would recommend the show for that alone, and yet everything else is so perfect, too. Along with the gripping plot of a murder case, the intense shame that follows Camille wherever she goes makes for such good conflict and friction with her surroundings. Everything is personal because it takes place in her hometown. Anyway, I can't keep rambling my mind out of its skull over this one. It's beautiful, it's perfect, it's fascinating. Please see it. I beg of you. For me, it represented so much of how it felt to grow up with family dynamics like Camille's. If you relate to it, you'll either love the catharsis or hate the memories it revives.
No Longer Human [Novel]: Pretty sure I've already rambled my ass off about this one when I made the 10 Characters 10 Fandoms post since Yozo is one of the most relatable characters I've ever read about and thus one of my faves! But yeah, this novel is everything to me. I want so many quotes on my wall from it but honestly the one that I constantly think about is still that first line: "Mine has been a life of much shame." It's well known, but that doesn't make it any less impactful for me. I still tear up sometimes when I think about it. Yozo's thought process is just so...accurate. And knowing all about Dazai Osamu and his life as the writer and how closely it's tied to it? I don't think it will ever move from its spot as my top novel of all time.
The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice [Novel]: Lol so the gif isn't from this story specifically but I need gifs for happy brain so I have one related to the story. Probably one of my favorite romances of all time, mostly because it's a very reserved romance, in the sense that it can't exactly be labelled "romance" except in sub-context. (I mean they do have sex but it's like a story about vampires first, if that makes sense? The romance is sort of a subplot to Armand's vampire adventures.) Anne Rice is a favorite writer of mine, and this book was a masterpiece to me. The language she uses and the scenes of vampirism fascinated me, and I wish that vampire media was better at bringing Anne's true style to life. They make it so goofy nowadays, and no other vampire stories apart from some anime portrayals are ever interesting to me. Not to mention the new Interview With A Vampire series as aforementioned is SO BAD and I hate it. Anne could handle that excessive grace of a man who's lived for centuries and the intelligence gained along the way without ruining their humanity, and knew how to portray the loneliness of such a life without making her characters sound like the emo piss babies of Twilight. She has such a grasp on the poetry of words and breadth of experience, and I'll never get over just how exciting it was to read this book for the first time. Truly felt like I was discovering vampires for the first time, and how they would realistically operate if they existed.
Tokyo Ghoul [Manga]: I believe everyone knows quite enough about Tokyo Ghoul, so I promise not to ramble on this one! But in short, as a psychological thriller lover PLUS horror lover PLUS dual-personality-when-done-right-and-realistically lover PLUS cannibalism-exlored-and-the-terrifying-effects lover I MEAN THIS IS JUST THE STORY FOR ME OBVIOUSLY. Kaneki has and always will be fascinating to me no matter how mainstream or over-talked about he is. He is amazing. Did the anime leave out most of the good stuff from the manga? Yeah, but Kaneki was there. The torture scenes were great. Is the manga better? WORLDS BETTER. But I still enjoyed the anime and got into it through there. I respect the anime's attempt to capture what was a sincerely tragic and deep emotional story. But man, reading the manga is something else, entirely. I haven't had the chance to read every single volume, and I may have skipped around a bit in search of the best parts to invest my time in, but boy I never regretted it. Kaneki's arc, getting to see into his head and experience his trauma and eventual decline into madness was SO SO SO SO SO FUCKING GORGEOUS. Nothing will beat it for a descent into madness story for me, I don't think. Plus ghouls as a whole and the art of the manga are just so *claws the wall* I wish I could draw like that.
The Phantom of the Opera [Score]: What's this?? Het media on Sadist's list?? Okay. I'm a huuuuge music fanatic. I grew up with multiple instruments in the house and played to escape, wrote to express, blah blah blah you get it, I NEEDED music to survive. When I discovered this soundtrack, as someone who despises musicals (and still does, but a few have made it through to my heart), I was ENTHRALLED, I tell you. ENCHANTED! Never before or since have I heard such riveting, mysterious, ethereal music, much less in a musical. Every single fucking song on this soundtrack is evocative and perfect and EVERYTHING. And the STORY! AUGH! I've always adored the story. One of my main quarrels with het 'romance' media is that so many of the "greats" (AKA The Notebook, 50 Shades, Twilight, After, etc.) have these fucking...WALKING RED FLAGS that are presented to be the most romantic things ever. Like the movie itself is gaslighting the audience into believing the emotionally manipulative man dangling off of a ferris wheel and threatening to kill himself if the girl doesn't go out on a date with him is adorable. I don't find it cute I find it reminiscent of every bad partner I've ever had, and I can't watch the movies because NOBODY in them ever acknowledges or is affected negatively in any way by these glaring, abusive behaviors. In Phantom of the Opera, Eric (the phantom) is obsessive, stalkerish, possessive, etc. - many things that other media presents as love WITHOUT understanding how it's also terrifying. The movie (though a little goofy at times and dramatic, I'll admit - which is why the score and not the film is on my tops list LMAO) presents these factors as they SHOULD be presented - scary. The music is ominous, the songs are obsessive and enchanting, and it's not presented as cutesy romance. That's why I love it so much. If you want a toxic love interest, please go right ahead and make one! You guys know me, that's literally what I write about. So I hope I've made myself clear about this topic and what I mean - just present the actual abuse as ACTUAL ABUSE, and scary and horrible, even if the protagonist is falling in love with that. Because reality can be like that. It's tough. But in Phantom, Christine goes with the healthy love interest in the end, Raoul, and I've always thought the ending was beautiful for that, because the Phantom still learned love in the end by letting her go. ANYWAY! Enough of that, good grief lmao. Tumblr with no word limits is so dangerous for me.
Mo Dao Zu Shi [Donghua]: 3 Seasons and I still haven't had enough of it. I just recently rewatched this with my close friends and good gods I was appreciating all the intricacy and character development the second time around. There isn't a single character left un-developed in this donghua like SERIOUSLY. Seriously, big kudos to the fucking author. In anyone else's hands, the magic system and the multiple plot lines and the larger-than-life characters most likely would've been fumbled. But whoever directed this KNEW what they were doing and KNEW their source material. And look, even though I barely know who is who because names are confusing and I barely understand half of the magic going on and why people are fighting, THIS IS THE SINGULAR SHOW THAT EXISTS WHERE IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER. I'M STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WORKS. But it does? The emotional capacity of every scene no matter if I know what's happening or why just HITS and I'm always rooting for the characters or crying over them. Like, it's just insane. Okay. Everyone who's into BL should watch it, because it's one of the best. And even if you're not into BL, it's one of the best. The action is INCREDIBLE. apffff moving on.
The Case Study of Vanitas [Anime]: BRUUUUUHHHHH. We all know. We all know. I don't need to say anything. But the two boys, man. Two of my top faves. The show is gorgeous, the character designs are beautiful, the setting is romantic, the boys are gay (they are. they are gay.)...I mean what more can I ask for. Oh yeah also vampires! They're vampires. And I love vampires that are like, actually cool. Thank you for making actually cool vampires within a really interesting magic system. I would kiss the author but she made Vanitas straight so no kisses. ONE OF MY FAVORITE COUPLE OF CLIMAX EPISODES OF ALL TIME BTW.
A Silent Voice [Anime Film]: :(...I can't really talk about this one. I relate to it so much. Social anxiety, depression, attempted suicide. It's a really beautiful and painful movie. I cry every time I watch it. The end, that's all. The imagery and the meaning behind so many shots is just...UWEGH.
To Your Eternity [Anime]: *furiously points* LOOK AT THE BABY. OH MY GODS LOOK AT HIM. You guys, you guys. You guys. If you haven't seen this, and you like crying, and you need to cry really hard, and you need the most fascinating and heart wrenching story of all time, this is the one. Fushi, also? Hot. The Beholder, his daddy? Hot. Kenjiro Tsuda? Hot. Sorry, besides the point. This is the best written "you're supposed to cry" story I've ever seen. Nothing beats it. You know what they're going to do to you but yet they somehow subvert your expectations of HOW every fucking time, and MAN??? It hurts. But it hurts so good. And Fushi should be real so I can kidnap him, that's all.
I did 11 things, I'm so sorry. I do this every time. BUT I SURE HOPE YOU FOUND THOSE INTERESTING AND POSSIBLY FOUND A NEW THING TO ADD TO YOUR LIST IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN/HEARD/READ BEFORE. Thanks anon for the ask!
Oh yeah and as extra I wanted to throw in my favorite song right now because IT'S REALLY PRETTY.

I don't watch a lot of her interviews, but I don't think I have never heard Taylor be interviewed like Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Beyonce or Amy Winehouse were interviewed. She got that one question about which man she was gonna go home with, but vs "Britney, are you still a virgin?" and "Janet, why did you expose your boob?" (paraphrasing) idk...I feel so much for them. They deserve apologies. Craig Ferguson is still my favorite talk show host because of how he defended Britney. He was serious at times and he was actually funny.
no literally, taylor has been overly protected by her team since the beginning and sheltered from what female artists actually go through in the industry. I mean, I think it was Oprah who grilled Michael Jackson on his sex life and whether or not he was a virgin because “people are wondering”. yet people tout her Ellen interview where Ellen tries to get taylor to admit to who she’s dated as some kind of proof she was objectified in the way these other artists were.

We’re in love with each other and we’re spanning time
This film is really unique, and it has already called atmosphere to it. you want to know why basically it shows Billy Brown, in the perspective of a narcissist and now he was grown up, brought up by two parents who could’ve given us a shit if he was there and don’t know anything about our own child.
So basically, Billy goes to prison, for crimes supposedly didn’t do for somebody else. When he comes out, he has nowhere to go, he tries to go back inside the jail, to use the toilet but they won’t let him back in. on his way out and into the city he’s walking around Amy is he looking for a toilet on his way and he goes to the toilet and this man is staring at his genitals and it gives him flashbacks to something that happened to him in prison where he shouts out, homophobic slurs, Then, as this happens, he bumps into Layla tapdancer, and she calls him up on his bad behaviour.
The cinematography in this film is really beautiful, scary part of this film is that Vincent Gallo is fucking terrifying I think. Just the look of him is quite., but the way this film is short is amazing. He wrote director and starred in the film., this girl who he pretends to be his wife to his family, I said don’t give a shit about him, his mother cares about his sports, even a shot to where he could’ve died and they just at his grave listening to sports commentators and not concentrating on their son, he wants to impress him so much that he kidnap the girl, and pretends that this is his wife of a few years and that he hasn’t really been, it It shows a whole range of emotion, depreciating, narcissism, up in a narcissistic household, .. Stockholm syndrome, toxic Love, immaturity, lack of love which really holds the whole thing with the film, is it sort of empty feeling to it?, but for me Christina Richie really shines out she’s so beautiful in this film the most terrifying part of this film that is in real life. Vincent Gallo really was abusive to her and he would phone her many times a day shouting at her and screaming at her and telling her that she needed more weight by the end of the film was 180 of the person that she was before her main role from child actor to adult actor if you wanna call 18 and adult after the film he would still ring her and her and make her feel worthless exist anyway bad after this he made another film, the brown bunny. which I’ve never seen which I believe got him in even more trouble than this film and kind his career. film scene , where Chloe Savini gives him oral, which was very controversial at the time, is anyway in real life? His man is basically like his character which is why he played the part so well., grew up with a family like this he grew up in the same, he probably even had a girl that he fell in love with that he called the name of the girl he kidnapped, even know that he existed, at the time of filming Ricci would have been 1718 while he would’ve been in his mid 30s, so there was a massive power imbalance to that degree and he had her doing really long days the longest day she said she’d ever done in our whole career in which they disregarded her saying you haven’t really been in the industry that long she goes when you’re 18, you’ve been over in half your life long time. I’m. this man in real life has a website where he literally sells himself for 500 K a night to women only. And even black chicks and fat chicks it doesn’t matter what size you are said so racially slurred anyone can get an opportunity if they’re biological woman he even sells his cum on, and for a painter, the website is pretty crap. And very 90s .
It makes me so sad that Layla was literally treated like her character was in the film Christine it looks like he can handle a lot an actress and is very professional. but then you get these method actors I feel like they have to go full method and be an arsehole to the person as some sort of to be a dick on, now imagine this too this is nine 19 years before the two movement even happened pretty scary this guy out and out arsehole about who is but the other guys are all pretending never certainly I don’t know what’s worse really quite frankly I suppose at least he’s honest about who he is dickhead, whoever stole Richie for this film they did, I think they probably chose her so young cause so many women in Hollywood have had their boobs done by age and she was all natural, she looked absolutely beautiful, she is a unique and I love her look so let’s remember this film for all the amazing of what she brought to it, even Angelica Houston, is pretty scary because she was there at the house, Jack Nicholson when Roman Polanski did what he did🏡 so maybe the symbolism of that people not forget about that, people picking and choose who they want to be an arsehole and not in Hollywood, and let’s face it about 80% of them all if not more, I always say that Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse are probably the truest people and my people are go to, to saying they’re a good person, a couple of possibly would be Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole Smith , and people like Aaliyah and left eye notice how they’re all not here anymore .

Imma be honest, this whole situation with the Vulture article about Spider-Verse and the working conditions behind it are saying less to me about the industry’s very real problems and more about Twitblr’s tendency towards absolutely ridiculous overreaction, jumping to conclusions, poor fact-checking, and tendency to care more about making themselves mad and upset then actually helping anybody. And also kinda makes me feel like “crunch” might be about to go up on the shelf of “words that Tumblr has made completely meaningless”.
Actually reading the article and not just pissing and shitting with rage in the comments over the headline leads to a somewhat nuanced and honestly not-especially-damning-or-dramatic context:
Four animators (on a team of over a thousand) claim that Sony asked animators to work bullshit hours on this project and lowballed them on pay, which is something Sony has been accused of before with other projects and is a common criticism of the big studios in general. However, they also say that a lot of these bullshit hours were made up of low periods where they weren’t really doing a lot of work.
There’s some complaining about Phil Lord’s loose and improvisational approach to filmmaking not gelling with an animation project of this size and nature, leading to dumb mistakes like redoing already completed sequences that exacerbated some of the deadline crunches that Sony pulled.
These four animators found it disheartening to have their work cut from the finished project, mainly because they couldn’t add a lot of it to their reels, but they also feel they were properly compensated for the overtime and down periods.
100 animators left the project for various reasons over the course of production, but this doesn’t actually say much because, again, the animation team had over a thousand people on it; this is actually an impressively small turnover rate for a production of this size.
All of this is presented without any actual proof of the claims beyond the word of these four animators, who it should be noted are giving it anonymously. Literally the only evidence they even exist is that the Vulture writer says. So, like, not exactly a smoking gun. Sony has denied the accusations, with Amy Pascal giving a rather snappish and testy response to it that pretty much amounts to “if these people are really who they say they are, they’re full of shit and need to get over themselves and accept how filmmaking works”. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have not commented at all to my knowledge.
All in all, it seems like kind of a nothing burger story. More talk about the crappiness of the entertainment industry’s way of doing things and how poorly the big studios treat animators, more talk of the importance of unionizing, but nothing especially major, not very dramatic compared to other horror stories that have come out over the years, and there’s not even any REAL evidence the claims are true (sorry if my standards of proof are a bit higher than “anonymous person said so!”).
The main conclusions to draw are that Sony sucks, there’s a lot institutional problems in the animation industry that need to be fixed, unions are good, and Lord and Miller can be major pains to work with when put in the wrong environment. Pretty much all of which was well-known prior to this.
And yet, the reaction has been so needlessly strong. Like, I understand that people are fed up with this kind of shit and it’s justifiable to be annoyed about crunch or to sympathetic to the supposed plight of these animators… but Jesus Christ. The way people are despairing and throwing sobbing fits in comments about not being allowed to enjoy anything and “no ethical consumption”. The way these somewhat mild problems are being described as “ANIMATORS MADE TO WORK TO DEATH IN SWEATSHOP CONDITIONS”. The way Lord and Miller are being instantly turned on and called narcissistic abusers (something the article never even ONCE approaches). The hyper-cynical, masturbatory, and snooty “disappointed but not surprised” pessimism. The exaggerated crying for the animators like they’re dying crack babies made to toil in a radium mine and not normal people complaining about a crappy job.
It all feels very… well, pathetic at best. Performative at worst. Because I genuinely don’t know how many of these people complaining are actually gonna, like, do anything about it, nor how this complaining into the void without doing anything is helping anyone. And it’s plainly apparent from a lot of the comments that many of the people posting these rants have not actually read the article, just the headline and other comments. At the very least, it says some very bad things about the internet’s current, corporate-and-social media-encouraged zeitgeist of constant misery porn, melodramatic hysterics, purity culture, needlessly angry and confrontational activism, and convicting by public opinion before all the facts are in (or even willfully ignoring facts for the sake of fueling the complaining train).
I also feel like this is all very counterproductive to the effort of workers rights, as it’s kind of making the people involved look bad and making their complaints look petty and overblown, when in reality there’s absolutely a lot of real problems that need to be addressed.
I also also feel like we’re really reaching a ridiculous point with the whole “no ethical consumption under capitalism” bullshit, where people are acting like even the slightest bit of pain in any industry taints everything about it and means every person who buys the product is complicit and there’s “no escape from the sin” which is a completely batshit stupid way of viewing the world. But I digress.

im always down to hear more about the amis sw au!! :DDD
yay i was hoping someone would bc i could talk about it all day 🥰🥰🥰
this one was born from two things 1. ever since i started sex work i've wanted to write sex worker grantaire, and 2. when i rejoined tumblr & started reading fic again last year i thought "oh i remember that one fic where he is a sw" and found it and took psychic damage from the whorephobia 😖
so i went what if i did a similar prompt but sw informed instead of... that. (is it bad that what's turned into one of my fave au's was born out of spite lol)
anyway i also had a wip where les amis were like a radical anarchist group of hackers/political assassins and i always imagined r as a sw in that so i kinda merged the two and it's become this.
Grantaire does independant full service work and is a performer who dances at kink events and clubs etc. which is where most of les amis meet him.
i'm really trying to balance between informative and true to my knowledge of my industry, subtly breaking down prejudices readers might come in with, while also being pure 100% not realistic fantasy with 10/10 smut.
the fantasy being "what if a sex worker had a whole bunch of really hot, kind, interesting, respectful clients who were all people he could be friends with irl AND they were all friends with each other AND they were awesome anarchist political assassins who needed him to move into their secret base while they went into hiding bc they couldn't visit him anymore and just couldn't live without it 😩" like that's all crack none of that would ever really happen lol 😭
also the greatest smut scenes i've ever written are in this wip. i'm quite proud of them. i'm excited to bring this fandom some realistic and hot sex scenes written by someone who is literally a professional in the subject 🫡
if anyone wants i can try to find a good excerpt 👀
#also it's e/r lol always#and it's important to me that r isn't asked to quit when they get together#so far its got some r/jehan r/combeferre r/courfeyrac and r/bahorel and of course e/r#so almost everyone will have a scene with him lol#also a gr8 scene of e/r smoking weed together that's sex even though it's not sex#my fics#asks

Adore You
Or rather, let him adore who he wants.
The Adore You video is about how his fans treat Harry's partners. To Rolling Stone Harry said:
“This time I really felt so much less afraid to write fun pop songs. It had to do with the whole thing of being on tour and feeling accepted [...] It came late in the sessions: “Lights Up,” “Treat People with Kindness,” and “Adore You” were written in the final week this spring, in a burst of inspiration.
TPWK, Lights up and Adore You each have a message to fans:
Adore You's video asks fans to not make it impossible for him to date his partner(s) of his choosing
Lights up, Harry said it is about "stepping out on his own" the lyrics include "I'm not ever going back" (I infer to 1D)
TPWK is asking his fans to do just that, including him and the people he chooses to date.
Music Video
When asked by Capital FM (4:33) if Harry was the boy in the video, Harry first said it was a metaphor and he acted the part, then when followed up he said "it's a music video everyone!" The start of the video tells of superstitions and silly ideas. Everyone frowns, Harry has a brilliant smile. He is peculiar, the voiceover says:
No one ever meant to be mean towards him, but in a town grown used to how things were, no one knew what to do with something different.
Harry bottles up his rage, is depressed and goes to drown himself. He sees a fish and saving it saves Harry.
Who is the fish? When asked on SiriusFM, (3:00) Harry said, “Is the fish even a fish? Is the fish a metaphor? Who is the fish?” an Olivia is an emotion style answer to say the fish is a metaphor. There is
Taylor Swift has a famous Koi Guitar, called the Koi Living Jewel. the artwork reflects Taylor's guitar and the TVs refer to the fish as a Jewel Coat (Junior Jewel), However
The fish is grey like the salmon in a 1980 Children's book Louis the Fish. The book is about a vegetarian butcher who is turned into a fish. The book has an anti-vegetarian message. Harry is Pescatian. This is utter madness, it reminds me of him saying to Stern that sometimes his fans find unlikely similarities that aren't really there.
The fish is personifying his love for a partner and he is asking is fans to help and not attack the very real people he dates.
The fish constantly get's bigger, Harry does everything but the fish literally doesn't fit in his life. In the end he has to let the fish go and be alone because it is too hard for it to be with him.
The fish starts thrashing when the fisherman chops another fish. To me this is a metaphor for how the music industry and fans treats them. Harry repeats this in Music for a Sushi Restaurant where the shop only keeps him while is singing brings customers.
Seaview Cottage at 88 Seagull Lane is an easter egg for Harry's House (H= 8th letter) and Keep Driving: 'Choke her with a Seaview'. Seagull lane is a reference to Taylors shirt on the cover of 1989. And a townsperson receives a Message in a Bottle.
Harry eventually sails off alone powered by his screams. :(
When was it written
Harry said to Zane Lowe he played Liam Gallagher Fine Line in March 2019 but that Lights Up, Adore You and Treat People were all written later, in the last week. It was written with Amy Allen, who is based in LA. That places it after the Met Gala around 20 May 2019. He was in the studio on 15 May 2019.
Lyrics
Walk in your rainbow paradise (paradise) Strawberry lipstick state of mind (state of mind) I get so lost inside your eyes Would you believe it?
'Walk in your rainbow paradise' responds to Me!'s "Like a rainbow with all of the colors". Both refer to Out of the Woods "The rest of the world was black and white / But we were in screaming color.” Harry and Taylor refer to each other as all the colours. Me was released 4 weeks before Harry wrote Adore You.
Strawberry lipstick state of mind refers to Taylor's signature lip colour, referred to in Style 'Red Lip Classic thing you like' and Two Ghosts 'Same lips red, same eyes blue'.
You don't have to say you love me You don't have to say nothing You don't have to say you're mine
In Little Freak Harry expressed a similar idea of caring but not in a possessive way or asking for anything from her "I'm not worried about where you are / Or who you will go home to". This makes is clear they are not in a relationship.
Honey (ah) I'd walk through fire for you Just let me adore you Oh, honey (ah) I'd walk through fire for you Just let me adore you Like it's the only thing I'll ever do Like it's the only thing I'll ever do
Walk through fire means he is willing to go through the difficulty of fans not liking his relationships, he will lose fans, if his partner will just let him love them. In If I could Fly Harry said he would give up fame to be with his muse "I think I might give up everything, just ask me to"
Taylor sung about this difficulty dating Harry in:
Slut! "If they call me a slut / You know it might be worth it for once", and
Gold Rush "I don't like that anyone would die to feel your touch / Everybody wants you / Everybody wonders what it would be like to love you"
They also described this as guns or bullets in I know places and Sign of the Times.
You're wonder under summer skies (summer skies) Brown skin and lemon over ice Would you believe it?
This verse is describing a summer romance, (Brown skin, Lemonade, Summer Skies) which Taylor also did in this period in Cruel Summer.
Harry talks about his muse as summertime and butterflies in Olivia. He also said he would brown his skin while they waited for him in the Sky in Golden.
You don't have to say you love me I just wanna tell you somethin' Lately you've been on my mind
A similar line is in Little Freak: " I'm not worried about where you are / Or who you will go home to, I'm Just thinkin' about you"

this will probably be quite long-winded so i'm going to put it under a read more. this has nothing to do with matty or the band, it's my other favorite artists, but i just can't talk about this on my main blog because i fear the people i am talking about will find it and harass me and talk shit about me for weeks again (this happened after an anon mistake and a bit of an impulse decision back a few years ago and i hated my life and almost deleted my blog because of it) so i trust that this will stay between us (as much as it can on the internet)
so my main blog is a primarily harry styles/niall horan blog with a whole bunch of my shitty diary posts and things i think are silly. it started with niall and harry writing and then when niall went on hiatus after his last album it became a primarily harry blog because i wrote my biggest story in the height of the pandemic and it gained a lot of traction during quarantine. in that height, someone started talking shit about niall and i went to his defence as any lonesome teenager does and it backfired on me gravely and this group of harry styles blogs that think they're very popular and cool harassed me about it. it was awful for weeks. i basically couldn't go online without having a panic attack. anyways, it's that same group.
all they do is talk about how much they think niall is a copy and paste of harry or that he isn't marketable or that he can't pick singles or that he pushes his streams and charts too much. all while claiming they don't care about him and hate him or whatever. they say all these things that simply aren't true. harry didn't "create" marketing campaigns on websites, neither did niall! however, niall's last album was marketed through a website and videos everyday and all this. harry isn't original in his techniques, the difference is that his following is so insane that they will do every single marketing thing for him. he doesn't need a team of people to do it. these fans are so insane that they are doing a job that people get paid to do. niall does his job! that's why he's telling people to stream and whatnot.
niall's songwriting is miles and miles better than harry's, but because of the way they think harry is the best at everything, they don't recognize that. niall started working with amy allen (a writer harry worked with on his last album) nearly six years ago, maybe even seven. she co-wrote my favorite niall horan song, to this day. like, they saw amy allen and tobias jesso jr and freaked out that niall was copying harry, as if niall isn't also a songwriter in the industry. like .. i genuinely am so sick of this conversation! (i also would compare niall's songwriting in depth and meaning to matty's, which is why i love it so much)
it's also very fucking annoying that harry stans have created this whole culture around going to concerts and liking artists that is so toxic and annoying that i can't stand it. like, half of the people at niall's pop up shop today weren't even singing his songs, they were singing the harry songs that were on the playlist. or the way all these harry stans are suddenly talking about niall on tiktok to get clout or merch or whatever it is. i've literally been a niall fan or whatever since the very beginning of one direction, i followed him on tour way back when, he's the reason i love live music and want to work in touring. i love harry, i do, i've gone to his shows plenty of times and talk about him and have a blog and a story, i'm not saying anything bad really about him, but it's so frustrating to see how people treat other artists just compared to harry styles and i literally am getting so annoyed every day.
okay i think i'm done. like i said .. this is between you and me and god.

TED Talk anon here I want to quickly go over two of the recent reels Juliet posted on her Instagram. First is the birthday post for Andy which is not sincere at ALL. The ENTIRE thing is literally just clips of HER with Andy appearing in them for a couple seconds in total. And the whole idea of the 'reel of a bunch of funny clips of us together' honestly looks ripped off from what Ronnie Radke's girlfriend Paige did for his birthday. Just like how she copied the tongue-to-tongue picture from Maneskin's singer and their partner. And the more recent one the 2022 end of year recap is just fucking cringy and honestly shows just how narcissistic and uncaring she is. Basically the ENTIRE thing was just selfies, mirror pics, concert photos and videos of her singing, and pictures of her outfits. There were no pictures or videos of Daredevil, her cats, her new niece that she loves to flaunt online for attention even though she pays ZERO attention to her other nieces and nephews online, Taylor Momsen, the women of Plush or The Warning, her fans, etc. Only one quick photo with Joe and Andy. Nothing with her sister, brother, parents, or any other family member. Very few photos and videos of her band members despite spending the bulk of 2022 with them. Very few photos of dead crowds during her performances. Only ONE photo with Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale despite being up in Lzzy's ass for so long and calling her and Amy her 'sisters'. No pictures or videos of Dorothy who she has also called her sister or anything with Cibabs, Allison Hagendorf, Jose Mangin or any interviewers. Only two or three friends of hers all of whom are part of the music industry and helped her career. Nothing from the When We Were Young fest interview or meet and greet she crashed. Literally nothing except a few photos and videos of her conservative, misogynistic, and even racist band members and pictures of herself for over a minute. Compare this to other people's 2022 recaps like Plush's and it's full of group photos with other people, artists, fans, family, and friends. While 98% Juliet's entire reel is selfies. Showing just how much she cares about and loves other people even her own blood family she couldn't even add a single photo of and other female musicians she calls her sisters. In her mind her year revolved around her and her only and she wants the spotlight and attention all to herself. She don't care about anyone but herself and it really shows✌🏽
^^^I mean, to be honest and I don't mean for this to sound rude but does she even have any friends? I feel like she's so focused on this 'aesthetic' she has going on, being Andy's wife, & essentially just cosplaying [her idea of] being a rock musician that she doesn't actually make friends with people.

I’m pressed like this sushi lol
Ya so I came across an article about an actor discussing his ~physicality (I can’t name names bc his stans will put me on watchlist lmao), and it reminded me of when Jon Hamm literally went ham over ppl objectifying him in grey sweatpants and spreading rumours about how the Mad Men directors had to specifically ask him not to freeball on set bc his junk was too big or whatever.
From this Slate article
Do men realize how tone deaf they are when they say shit like this? I guess it’s pretty cold of me to have zero sympathy for him but like…
It’s the lack of insight for me fam… like ya, his feelings of discomfort are legit but he’s speaking as if he’s so shocked and stunned and affronted that something like this could happen to him, an Actor.
Rly?? u have truly never heard of this happening before? Like, not from any of the many female co-stars u have worked with?? Or just like, as a general issue that women have in the workplace??
Why are u saying “part of the deal” as if u aren’t aware of the fact that ppl have been using the “don’t be famous/act/go out in public/been seen if u can’t handle public scrutiny about your appearance” line on women since before u were born? My brother in Christ there was even a Marilyn Monroe storyline in Mad Men lol.
The fact that this incident is newsworthy to him and worth bringing up as a talking point speaks volumes bc I feel like an actress in the same boat wouldn’t be able to do the same w/o experiencing severe backlash…I mean, ppl would automatically be like “Mamma Mia, here we go again 🙄🙄🙄”
And it’s always a lose-lose situation when women try to contribute to the body image discourse
Eg: a “conventionally attractive” Hollywood actress mentions how difficult it is to meet the film industry’s standard of beauty
Response: shut up Margot Robbie/ScarJo!! it’s not your place to talk about this!! U are obviously a 10 so stop lying about having image issues 🙄
Eg: an attractive but not “Hollywood attractive” actress
Response: shut up Amy Shumer/Mindy Kaling!! Why are u complaining about how u are size 6/8/10/whatever when the average person is a size 12/14/16!! Stop acting like u are fat for attention 🙄🙄
It’s like on one hand, ppl who “have nothing to complain about” are shamed for discussing their insecurities, but then when “plus size” actresses (who may or may not actually be plus sized) visibly lose weight, everyone is like “wow, way to give in to the industry standards!! U are letting down other women!! U should just embrace being fat and take one for the team!!”
Anyway do u guys this I guessed this book correctly or
#a lil rant#applying for witness protection rn lol#I still love mad men tho#And I think JH is an underrated comic actor#But he dumb lmao#also nothing against the acting ability other actor that isn’t Jon Hamm#live laugh love and peace on earth

Well, we're one day out from Sonic Superstars releasing officially. "Officially" because we're in the era of games leaking early and the entire things getting uploaded online and then assholes happily posting entire game spoilers untagged in their twitter pictures or youtube thumbnails and the like for no other purpose than to drive engagement and be cunts, the days of the actual pre-release hype cycle are fucking numbered bros.
That aside though! Just gonna post some final pre-release thoughts I suppose. The main thing I can say is I kinda wish I was a bit more excited about this game. It's doing some cool stuff - the Chaos Emerald abilities seem nice, I'm glad Fang is actually back, Trip seems super cute, Amy is here, and we learned pretty quickly that the physics are like 1:1 Mania or something so we know it'll control well - but idk in terms of actual excitement something about this game just seems super like, safe to me? I guess? And consequently I'm less outright excited and more "oh sure a new 2D Sonic game". I don't think Mania existing helped its case either, because thanks to it we've seen "Sonic returns to his 2D classic roots and it's super kino" already. And that one cost less than half the price! Nothing against 2D games being full price and the people arguing otherwise seem pretty dumb to me but it does feel weird seeing Mania be like £20 and Superstars be like £60 and all that. Superstars hurting its own case more with preorder bonuses and retailer exclusive skins and digital deluxe editions and all that modern "we the games industry fucking hate consumers" bullshit. Sigh. Though all that stuff is a little beyond how the actual experience of playing the game itself is gonna go lol, so we're gonna ignore it again. As I was saying, just not quite as excited for this game as I was for Mania or literally any 3D title either. And I don't think it's just me, Frontiers' third update had more hype drumming up around it than Superstars. I think myself and many others, even without having played Superstars, just don't really expect to be surprised by it, if that makes sense. We'll play it, we'll like it, we'll replay it, we might even fuck around with the multiplayer stuff. But I don't really know how much more I expect. Think it's especially a bummer when we learned they were considering a 2D handdrawn art style so learning they went for the art design they ended up going for makes it even more of a bummer lol.
Oh well, it is what it is. I hope this goes without saying but pre-release anticipation and hype cycles and actual final game quality aren't really related at all, like, ever. Which is to say that I might still really love Superstars even if I wasn't strictly like over the moon excited to play it. It's just a case of waiting and seeing, really.

Timeless 1x01
*The hardest thing to reconcile in the Time Wars will be Timeless's approach to traveling onto your own timeline ("ABSOLUTELY NOT OR YOU WILL GO INSANE-ok maybe Lucy but only this one time and she has to hurry") with Sanctuary's (Helen Magnus chilling on her own timeline for 113 years like
)
*Anthony trying so hard to get Rufus and Jiya out of Mason Industries before Bad Things Happen.
*Lucy's reaction to Homeland Security showing up being "Look, whatever you're selling, I'm not buying" reminds me so much of Will's "Look, lady, I'm getting soaked here. What do you want?" Sweet Dorks with no patience for the Dramatics they're about to get drawn into.
*"She isn't fancy but she works. Usually." Wish they'd done something with it just randomly not working.
*No, honestly, Lucy's reaction to the impossible is so in line with Will's.
*I literally always forget that Rufus worked for Rittenhouse for awhile.
*Every time I rewatch I get more eh about even early L/W. Even though they're the main reason I stuck with Timeless Season One the first time around.
*Although them asking each other if they're OK is pretty sweet.
*I know they hadn't cast Jessica yet in this episode, but... Kate really doesn't look like Jessica.
*Tbh I don't really have a lot of commentary on this. I've rewatched it pretty recently.
*Half watching the episode, half thinking about Will/Lucy.
*Stiv Casey is Lorena's brother. To me.
*Garcy's first meeting is really so good, though. And makes me think of my Magnitt AU.
*Okay, but the weight of the team coming back feeling like they failed, only to be heralded as heroes...
*Rufus talking like he expects no one to listen to him... He's going to have so much growth. ;-;
*Rufus/Jiya first dinner!
*No but even the picture of Jessica in the pilot looks nothing like Kate.
*Man, to think about how conflicted Lucy must have felt for so long about losing Amy but gaining a healthy mother. And then when she learns the truth about her mother... The guilt over ever feeling conflicted.

Eurovision 2005 - Number 32 - Tiffany Ciely - "Lost Paradise"
youtube
The Belgian national final of 2005 is something of a rarity. First, it's being run by RTBF, the French language broadcaster. They have a tendency to internally select acts when it's their turn to organise Belgium's entry for Eurovision. Though they have held national finals before, they're nowhere nearly as grand affairs as those that VRT hold every other year.
The other thing that's a bit weird is that there are only two entries. It's a literal two-horse race and it appears the organisers had narrowed their shortlist down to these two and then couldn't agree on who to send. Or maybe they thought they had to do something to celebrate the 50th Eurovision and thus the Belgian Selection for 2005 came to be. It was to be a 100% televote between Eighteen year old Tiffany Ciely and Nuno Resende.
Tiffany was a new artist with only one previous single release to her name. She was being marketed as a pop act, but her voice was distinctly lower, gravellier and more soulful that a pop act would warrant. Lost Paradise is her own composition and demonstrates a distinct maturity when it comes both to song-writing and lyric writing. The version above is in a mix of French and English, although there are versions entirely in French and entirely in English out there.
It's an upbeat track for a song that's largely about looking back on something that felt like it was right - but in retrospect wasn't. In this version, it's the French language that's looking back while the English bits are about moving on, having learned lessons but feeling a little bruised by the experience. The stabs of brass only emphasise those blows to her psyche. There are loads of interesting layers in this, from the selection of instruments and what they represent, to the rhetorical devices deployed and metrical structure of the lyrics. And in two languages - all by someone who's not yet twenty.
It's no surprise that the single of this, released on the same day as the final, went on to be a hit in Belgium. Yet, Tiffany didn't go to Eurovision. She finished second. RTBF did release the televote score. She got 49.8% of the televote while Nuno got 50.2%. By such small margins careers are made and lost. This was the only single that Tiffany Ciely released before she turned to a career in law.
But that's not how this ends. In 2012, Tiffany, now going by Typhène (Tiffany Baworowski is her real name), produced a new single, Your Turn, and it was again a hit in Belgium. Just as she was about to launch a musical career again though, she suffered from a cyst on her vocal chords necessitating an operation and vocal rest for months.
Tiffany is nothing if not determined. A year later she was rediscovered (again) and this time using the name Typh Barrow. She released a cover of Gangsta's Paradise on YouTube which immediately gave her a new audience. Her jazzy, deep and expressive take on the song immediately and permanently got her the attention of the Belgian music industry.
Since then she's been record, touring, doing multiple TV shows including being a judge on the Belgian version of The Voice. There are three albums now the most recent in 2022. She's been compared to both Adele and Amy Winehouse by the Belgian media, and has regularly been nominated as Female Artist of the Year in Belgium. She occupies a position poised delicately between mainstream pop, jazz and more broad musical palate including heading to New Caledonia to record her most recently album with local musicians.
Here she is showing what she can do when she was still Tiffany Ciely doing Time

Getting real tired of Charmed (2018) fans dismissing / downplaying Charmed (1998) fans saying the reboot was bad bc of its lead actresses being WOC and / or the reboot being in-your-face "woke".
Nah, that is not why most fans of the original series dislike the reboot.
Back when the show was still in pre-production, the reboot cast were personally insulting the original series' actresses and fanbase.
For all the reboot's cast and crew bragged about their show being Latina representation, that wasn't actually the case.
The reboot is blatantly an in-name-only cash grab that wanted to ride on the coattails of the original series' name and fanbase without actually putting in any work.
For months the reboot's showrunners went back and forth on if they were going to homage the original series at all. In the actual series, Melinda Warren is only brought up in the Veras' BOS as an Easter Egg for audiences; as far as the rest of the show is concerned, the Warren line of witches and the Halliwell Charmed Ones don't exist... until season four at the very last second does the multiverse reveal. (Friendly reminder that this was after the reboot had outright dismissed or downplayed the original series for years.)
In 2020, Sarah Jeffrey made personal ad-hominem attacks on Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs for an Instagram fan Q&A vid they'd made where they discussed Charmed (1998) being taken off Netflix while the 2018 reboot was still up. Nobody involved in the reboot was named or tagged, and Sarah was shown the vid by a reboot fan. She immediately pulled the race card in order to deflect from genuine criticism of her show (and also ironically proved Holly's point about ageism in the TV/film industry).
The reboot cast repeatedly ignored Holly giving them advice on how to stick together and negotiate for their rights, with Holly explicitly stating that division between them was something The CW was counting on.
This show tackles social justice issues with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer and in a way that grinds the plot to a complete halt while the viewer (and other characters) are lectured at. The dialogue also comes across as very "SJW" Tumblr circa 2015; nobody talks the way these characters do in real life. (It's also clear that the writers have not actually been on a college campus in years, because gods was all of the dialogue with Maggie's sorority cringeworthy.)
This is the reboot that branded itself as "tearing down the patriarchy" and "feminist"... while having the male English Whitelighter kidnap the three Latina witches in the pilot to lecture at them about their powers and destiny, without whom they would have died when facing their first upper-level demon at the end of the pilot, and without whom they literally cannot do shit unless he's there holding their hands. And for a show whose tagline was "tearing down the patriarchy", the vast majority of antagonists during the reboot were other women.
Seriously, somebody explain to me how that crap is "more feminist" than the original series having the Halliwells discover their destiny & powers on their own, vanquish their first warlock on their own, and primarily rely on their family's Book of Shadows (their Whitelighter didn't show up until the third episode and he was undercover as a handyman for half of the season). Season 1 of Charmed (1998) had the Halliwells figuring shit out on their own or relying on their ancestors (powerful women) to help vanquish the demon of the week.
Constance M. Burge (creator of the original 1998 series) is only given a writing credit in the pilot ep of the reboot because of legal reasons. The second draft of the pilot's script, dated 27. February 2018 does not list Constance M. Burge at all. Literally everything about the reboot's development credits Jennie Snyder Urman (along with Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin). Burge did not have any involvement with the reboot whatsoever.
The reboot aired its pilot 14. October 2018, one week and twenty years after the airdate of the 1998 series' pilot "Something Wicca This Way Comes" on 7. October 1998. That had to be intentional, considering this was during the original series' 20th anniversary and instead of a proper celebration the fandom got... this.
After the reboot aired its finale in 2022, reboot fandom got pissy with a writer for the original 1998 series expressing his opinion via Twitter on the finale as a finale and stating facts about how from Day One the reboot never respected the original series & its cast/fandom. He also clarified that he was talking about fictional characters and not real people when the official reboot account called him and everyone else who worked on the original series an asshole, and he took them to task for it. (Hilariously, I would never have known about his comments if not for the reboot fandom pitching a hissy fit over them.)
After the reboot was cancelled, Sarah Jeffery suddenly changed her tune and said they were totally willing to work with the actresses from the original series. 1) That is not the impression she gave while the reboot was airing. 2) She really said this when she knew damn well there was public record of her and her fellow cast mates attacking the original cast. Bye, girl, we know you never invited them and they weren’t going to play.
Getting out of the behind-the-scenes drama and addressing the reboot on its own, it's simply a badly written, badly acted, and poorly lit show. It looks and feels cheap. The reboot feels like it's an OC-centric AU fanfiction written by someone only passingly familiar with the original series and who spent five minutes browsing the social justice side of Tumblr circa 2016. Its special effects are worse than those of the original show, which premiered in 1998. (Also, that's not orbing. That's Apparation from the Harry Potter movies.)
Madeline Mantock as Macy Vaughn and Rupert Evans as Harry Greenwood carried the whole show on their backs, and it shows. Those two are easily the best actors out of the main cast. Watching Sarah Jeffery as Maggie, it feels like she's still acting on the level of being in a Disney Channel Original Movie (she was in the Descendants movies at the same time) or a DTV movie (Daphne & Velma). Melonie Diaz as Melanie Vera is the weakest actress (and until the introduction of Poppy Drayton as Abigael Jameson-Caine in season 2, was given the worst lines).
For all this show bragged about it being Latina representation, the Veras are written as such basic white girls that they could easily have been played by white actresses (Maggie and Macy could have been biracial) and nothing would have really changed.
Hell, originally, they were written as white girls with the names of Macy, Mel, and Madison Pruitt -- an English last name -- and ethnicity was not specified for the casting call.
It wasn't until Melonie Diaz was cast as Mel that the reboot changed the sisters' last names to Vera and began leaning into the idea of a Latina cast.
Even after Diaz was cast, the girls were all going to be half-sisters with different fathers: one white, one Latino, one Black. "The varied ethnicity of the sisterly trio — white, Latina and African-American — also gives the reboot more currency, Urman said. The women have the same mother but different fathers." (This was the case until a good while into production, when they had already shot several episodes for season one.)
The only hint of their Puerto Rican heritage in season 1 was Mel having a Puerto Rican flag in her bedroom + Maggie making coquito during Christmas. And either Maggie or Mel (I forget which, probably Maggie) correcting Lucy on "You know we're Puerto Rican, not Mexican, right?" when Lucy wants Maggie for a sorority Tex-Mex themed event. I wouldn't know it without that explicit line from Maggie two episodes from the season finale, because these girls being of Puerto Rican descent never comes up as a major part of their identities.
Macy gets a subplot featuring Haitian Yoruba, but Yoruba is a West African religion with heavy diaspora.
Brujería doesn't show up until the third season of a four season show, and then their transfem Puerto Rican second cousin is completely forgotten about the second she exits the plot to go back home.
The writers for this show admitted on Twitter (X, I guess) that they flat-out didn't care about maintaining continuity. Each season had the show undergo a retool, so as a result it never found its own footing. That's on top of three showrunner changes over the course of its four seasons (seasons 2 - 3 had the same showrunner team), who all tried to outdo each other when it came to retconning what had been established in previous seasons.
(You're also fully aware of how The WB/CW treated the original series, right? And that its poor marketing for the 2018 reboot is nothing new for this franchise, right? Y'all are aware that The CW did very little to actually promote the reboot and let its Internet fandom do most of the work for the network by generating publicity via attacking the original series, right?)
Sorry, reboot stans, but there is a lot to find terrible about this show, and it has nothing to do with the main trio not being white and the series (clumsily) tackling social justice issues.
Allison Pregler managed to cover the entirety of the original Charmed series (all 8 seasons, however campy it got during the Paige years, plus the comics), several So Bad It's Good B-movies, and Baywatch. She gave up on her podcast reviewing the Charmed reboot before the show finished its third season, because the writing for this show was that terrible.
That should tell you something, if nothing else does.
People who hate the reboot solely because the leads aren't white and Mel is a lesbian into social justice are:
already racist assholes
fucking idiots looking for something to rage about
End of discussion.
And no, I do not accept criticism.
