MUSICAL TUMBLRMAN BATTLE

hey there, it's me, marina @annabelle--cane. you've seen these brackets before, you know the drill, it's time to watch these bastards kill each other.

rules/guidelines:

I'm using "tumblrman"/"the jokner of musicals" because a lot of the characters iconic to this genre are minors and it wouldn't be appropriate for an adult (<- me) to call them sexymen, but it also wouldn't feel right to just leave them out. I think these terms carry most of the same energy while leaving out sexual connotations.

personally, I will be voting and selecting based on levels of iconicness and how hard a choke hold these characters had on me and my peers, not based on which characters I actually think are best or that I like the most. I know this guideline is completely unenforceable and people will just black out and vote for their blorbos, but if this gets a good turn out, maybe I'll do a "favorite/best/most musical character" tournament afterwards.

there are a few characters who are already guaranteed spots (jd, beetlejuice, the squip, etc.), but still feel free to submit any obvious choices, especially if you've got compelling propaganda.

there are a few characters I don't feel comfortable including, but I don't think people are likely to submit them and I think posting a list would invite discourse, so I'll just say that I leave it ultimately up to my discretion whether or not to dismiss certain nominations.

since I will be selecting characters based on how iconic I think they were/are, nominees will likely skew male, but submissions are also open to female and nonbinary characters. the jonkler of musicals can be any gender.

similarly, I'm going to prioritize characters from stage musicals, but you may also submit characters from movie, TV, podcast, song cycle, or other medium musicals. if you're unsure, just go ahead and submit them and I'll figure it out.

this is a CRINGE POSITIVE space. ribbing on your past self or 2017 musical fandom culture as a whole is all fine and good, but try to keep in the spirit of friendly competition and stay away from being outright mean. if what you're saying is indistinguishable from a homophobe talking about their high school gsa, I will block you and delete your comments.

Do you like Tumblr Sexymen? BOY DO I HAVE A COMPETITION FOR YOU!

Welcome to the 2023 niche tumblr non-sexyman competition! What is this, you may be asking? Well, let me tell you!

Do you have a character who you love so much? Is he an absolutely horrendous man who meets several of the qualifications of a tumblr sexyman, but for whatever reason, he isn't one yet? Maybe he's too niche, or the mods of the wiki just haven't realized his potential yet. Well, this bracket is for that exact purpose!

I'm Hermann (pronouns are they/them), and I'll be your moderator (yes, I am also the moderator of the @clash-of-the-wizards . I'm running 2 polls at once, because I have absolutely no life). In this bracket, we'll be pitting 32 niche, or otherwise non-canonical, sexymen against each other, and seeing who comes out victorious! Maybe, whoever wins will be the next person I submit to the moderators of the sexypedia, and maybe they'll become canon! Here's hoping!

GUIDELINES

If it's a rule on the sexypedia, it applies here. These rules include: Real people will not be considered, minors will not be considered, original characters will (sadly) not be considered, and no personifications of real-world locations and/or tragedies will be considered. Please read up on the sexypedia rules before submitting your sexyman nomination

Please make sure your characters do fit the sexyman archetypes! I will be looking over each and every entry individually, and I have full rights to disqualify anyone. The more archetypes a character fits, the more likely I am to consider them for the bracket.

You can submit any character from any fandom, just so long as they exist within the rules and boundaries of the competition

Please don't come back and repeatedly nominate the same sexyman-to-be. You can come back and nominate several sexymen, but I do want some diversity. I'm asking for NICHE sexymen for a reason!

SEXYMEN ALREADY IN THE WIKI WILL NOT BE PUT IN THE RUNNING!!!! I might start one for sexymen already in the wiki but who receive minimal recognition, but this one is for the sexymen who aren't there but deserve to be there!

Lastly, have fun! This is for funnies! It's just to see what sexymen tumblr wants to see added to the register!

Unlike my other bracket, and unlike most other brackets I've seen, for the sake of both diversity and staying true to the sexyman feeling, I will be hand-picking our contestants. You're more likely to have your sexyman added if you include the archetypes that fit them in your submission, because it spares me research time, and I appreciate that :) it is, however, not required. Just know, the initial part of this isn't decided by votes, unless I have a tie that I need broken. In such case, you guys will be the final judges.

Having cheated his way to the last round of the competition, Reigen finds himself face to face with Sans, who got there by doing literally nothing. Although Reigen has an early lead, he decides if he wants to cinch this, he's going to have to collude with his competition. He's surprised when Sans, who was entered in the contest unwittingly by his brother (he didn't know what the competition was for) is glad to help him win free of charge. They both run a series of debates where

Reigen dismantles Sans by proving how utterly unattractive he is. As the debates continue, Reigen puts on boy-band-style makeup and works out to become extra attractive. However, mysteriously, Sans's vote only seems to be increasing despite this. Sans mentions that Reigen forgot that being unattractive is one of the key tenets of becoming a popular guyon tumblr.

Emotionally crushed that he possibly ever wasn't actually attractive at all, Reign considers falling out of the competition.

However, he's cheered up by Mob, who says that Reigen should to remember what he taught him: He should have confidence regardless of what anyone thinks of him.

On the final day of the campaign, Reigen shows up with rings under his eyes, a five-o-clock-shadow. and a dad bod.

Without saying anything, he takes out a sandwich on stage and stuffs it into his mouth. He follows up with his "special attack." putting his fingers in his mouth like that one picture of Peter from Spiderverse. The audience cheers, and

Reigen's polling makes a massive comeback.

In the end, the results are revealed.

Sans won by a single vote.

Reigen can't believe it. One vote!? How could he lose by ONE VOTE!? Even that stupid skeleton voted for him!

Mob shows up and says offhand that since tumblr sexymen are unattractive, he wanted Reigen to have self-confidence, not rely on what other people think of him. Therefore he voted for Sans. Reigen doesn't know how to feel about this.
