Hi Pia!
I hope you are resting and getting the time you need. Please answer this on your own time, no rush from me. Go nap and sit in the sunshine and have a nice walk.
Apologies if this has been asked before. I’m just starting my first re read of FFS and am so impressed, first by your writing/character development, and then second by the huge change in Ef from the beginning to the end of FFS. How long is that? Less than a year? Do you think is this the most improvement or development Efnisien has undergone in his treatment, in this short period of time we get to know him? I know Dr. Gary remarks that the work Efnisien has done is noteworthy, but I’m curious about the work Ef did in the those 3 years before FFS. Just improvements of a different kind?
thank you kindly!
Hi anon!
and then second by the huge change in Ef from the beginning to the end of FFS. How long is that?
I don't know exactly! I don't generally track timelines. I think it's close to but not quite a year.
But there's time skips and other chapters that are told quite close together, so I don't actually know.
Do you think is this the most improvement or development Efnisien has undergone in his treatment, in this short period of time we get to know him?
This one's hard to quantify.
I feel like Dr Gary would say it's the period of time that has the most obvious quality of life breakthroughs, but that every period of time was significant, because each one was so vitally important.
Getting Efnisien to start talking to another therapist again, within Hillview, a place he was sexually assaulted, and to another therapist, when he was sexually assaulted by a therapist, is itself a huge, massive breakthrough on its own. Nothing could happen without that. And while it took 'longer' chronologically and might not look as momentous to us, I think for a character like Dr Gary, he knows that moment took so much bravery and courage from Efnisien, amongst his abject terror and hatred, that he still probably gets a pang in his chest when he thinks about this non-verbal kid who goes from complete mutinous frightened silence, to one day just starting to talk again.
And I'm sure if I'd written all of that in the style of FFS, it actually would have felt like Efnisien was having a lot of different kinds of breakthroughs even back then - to sit in the same room as Dr Gary, to storm out less, to reflect on the possibility of opening up again, to swim through the worst of his intrusive thoughts to try and see a point in fighting for himself again etc.
I think what Dr Gary finds so surprising about the course of Efnisien's treatment in general is how fast all of it has gone, and how committed Efnisien has been to it. Like, yes, Efnisien experiences a lot of growth in a short period of time, but that's because he did a lot of growth in the years preceding as well.
It's hard to quantify overall. The changes Efnisien makes in FFS matter the most to us and seem the most momentous because we're with him during those changes, and because they positively impact his quality of life the most. But I suspect Dr Gary would be more cautious about saying it's the year he had 'the most' growth, so I'm going to be cautious today too. :D
I know Dr. Gary remarks that the work Efnisien has done is noteworthy, but I’m curious about the work Ef did in the those 3 years before FFS. Just improvements of a different kind?
You can actually see the kind of work that Dr Gary and Efnisien were doing together previously in Efnisien's flashbacks to those sessions, or when he recollects those sessions. You'll notice when you reread that there's actually quite a lot of times where Efnisien thinks back to his early sessions in Hillview with Dr Gary, and how they progressed from him being non-verbal, to him eventually starting to talk but being very angry and hostile, to him learning that talking is actually worthwhile.
So in a way, the answers will be there when you reread! If you missed them the first time, hopefully you can enjoy them the second time. :D
#asks and answers#falling falling stars#efnisien ap wledig#dr gary konowalous#everything that got efnisien from being openly violent and cruel to animals#to who you meet in chapter 1 of FFS#is the work he did with dr gary#administrator gwyn wants this in the queue

Fixation│Jonathan Crane x Reader
Fixation - Part 3, Part 2, Part 1
Fixation Masterlist
A/N: I did not anticipate this story to be this much of a slow burn (imo) sorry! Jonathan is such a gentleman (for the most part) in this chapter eeeek. REST ASSURED THINGS PICK UP IN THIS PART! This man moves quickly. Some random time skips because I for one hate a play by play and I'm sure others do too, I know why ya'll are here (-ω-)ω-)
Pairing: Jonathan Crane x Female Reader
Synopsis: (Y/N) is Arkham's new lead psychologist in the developing acute pediatric unit. Dr. Crane soon becomes fixated on the pretty young doctor. Is she just as fixated on him?
Word Count: 1.9k
Warnings: home invasion, bondage, scarecrow (yes! he's a warning), fear toxin usage, spiders (not real), reader is drugged
The rest of your first day was a bit of a blur, honestly the interaction with Elias had scared you. You were usually more of a brave soul but knowing that this man and a lot of other men just like him were in the same building as you everyday was unsettling, even if you weren’t working directly with them. Maybe you were in over your head. It would be at least a couple months until you even worked with patients, as the pediatric unit isn’t even fully built yet.
You gently rubbed your eyes as you walked back down the cobblestone path towards the gate. Today has taken a lot out of you. You didn’t live far but the thought of walking home was more intimidating than usual. You suddenly felt hyper aware of just how vulnerable you truly were.
“(Y/N).” Someone called after you. You stopped and turned, Dr. Crane now walking towards you. “You weren’t planning on walking home this late were you?” He looked down at you with a worried expression.
“Oh, I don’t live far.” You gave Dr. Crane a reassuring smile.
“A lady like you shouldn’t be walking alone this late. I can give you a ride?” He bit back saying something about how beautiful you are, probably not appropriate after knowing your colleague for a day.
“If you don’t mind, I would appreciate it.” You smiled softly, honestly you were relieved.
“I’m parked around the back.” He gestured to the path that led around the side of the building. You nodded and followed him around the side and to the back of the building. The path led to a small parking lot, where a few cars were parked. “We park back here to reduce patients potentially seeing what we drive.” He clicked a button on his keys and a black mercedes benz with tinted windows lit up and beeped. He walked you to the passenger side and opened the door for you. “Thank you.” You smiled and slid into the seat. He closed the door gently and moved back around to the driver's side.
“I’ll need directions.” He chuckled, he was already out of the parking lot and driving down the road. “Oh right,” you smiled sheepishly, “It’s just a couple blocks straight up the road.”
It didn’t take long for you to point out your apartment building and Dr. Crane pulled over to the side next to the sidewalk. “I’ll get your door.” He got out and walked around to your side, opening the door and offering you his hand. You took his hand and looked up at him, but his gaze wasn’t on you, his head was turned towards the sidewalk, a stern look on his face. You followed his gaze to a man sitting on the sidewalk, holding a cardboard sign. You squeezed his hand, “That’s Gary, he’s harmless.”
“Let me make sure you get inside safe, you never know what someone is truly capable of.” Dr. Crane stepped aside to let you lead the way. You rolled your eyes playfully and headed up the stairs to the entrance. “Hi Gary.” You smiled at the man next to the stairs, Gary grumbled out a greeting to you and you looked back at Dr. Crane as to say see?
You made your way down the apartment building hallway, your door being the one at the very end. You didn’t open your door but instead turned your back to it, preparing to say goodnight to Dr. Crane. “Thank you for the ride home Jonathan.” He gave you a small smile, “It’s no problem (Y/N). I’ll see you tomorrow.” Not waiting for a reply, he turned and made his way back out to the front of the building.
You waited until he was out the entrance until you turned around and unlocked your door. After all, you never know what someone is truly capable of.
—
You woke up early the next morning, completing your morning ritual which consisted of doing your hair, makeup, and picking out a cute (professional) outfit. You opted for a pair of pixie dress pants and a pinstripe button up, leaving maybe a few too many buttons undone. You did a subtle smoky eye look, and left your hair down.
As you made your way into the kitchen you couldn’t help but notice all the new raindrops on the window. It was raining hard and you now dreaded the walk to work. “Shit.” You muttered, looking at the time, you had to leave like now. You quickly made your way to the closet and dug out an old umbrella, slipping on your heels and jacket. You made your way out of the building, you could barely see the street. It was raining so hard. You stood under the last little bit of protection you had and went to open the umbrella, with no luck. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Tears pricked at your eyes, there was no way you could walk to work in this weather without an umbrella, even with an umbrella you’d probably still be soaking.
“Need a ride?” A voice from the street called out. You tried to squint through the heavy downpour to see who was calling out to you. The figure made its way towards you, holding an umbrella.
“Jonathan, what are you doing here?” You said in a harsher tone than you had meant to when your colleague appeared before you.
“I’m sorry, I hope this isn’t an intrusion. I saw how hard it was raining this morning and didn’t want you catching a cold.”
He seemed genuine, and that was very thoughtful of him to consider that you had to walk to work in the rain. You sighed and gave him a smile, “I’m sorry, it’s just been a hard morning already.”
He shook his head, “No worries, are you ready?” He offered his arm, and you gratefully took it, stepping out from under the small protection you had to under his umbrella. He walked you to his car, making sure you didn’t slip.
The ride to work was short but even in the car the roads were hard to see. Jonathan seemed to manage the drive with no problem though. He gave you a sense of safety that not a lot of other people have before. It definitely helped his case that he was so handsome. You couldn’t help but admire his features as he drove. His eyes were so pretty and you didn’t even want to think too hard about his lips..knowing where your mind would wander.
"We'll be spending the day together again. We're quite short staffed right now." Jonathan broke you out of your trance. You let out a small laugh, "I don't mind spending the day with you." You internally rolled your eyes at yourself for how corny you sounded. Jonathan shifted his gaze to you and smiled.
— later that evening —
The work day had gone by very quickly, honestly it had kind of been a blur. The last thing you clearly remembered was drinking a coffee that Jonathan had brought you from the break room. Everything after that seemed to blur together, your head in a daze. Jonathan had given you a ride home again but you honestly couldn't recall how you got in your bed. You looked up at the ceiling, your bedroom light going in and out of focus. You blinked hard, trying to focus, to no avail. You tried to sit up, but your arms felt numb. You fell back onto your pillows, your head slumped to the side and you lost consciousness.
You slowly blinked your eyes open, your vision fuzzy. You tried to lift your arms but your movement was restricted by something. You struggled more but a wave of pain shot up your arm as something tightened around your wrists. You whimpered, slowly gaining more consciousness. Your legs were spread and you could not move them either. You thrashed your body violently, realizing the gravity of the situation. You opened your mouth to scream but you were quickly silenced. A man appeared over you, his hand covering your mouth. His head was covered by a burlap mask, stitches were sewn into the mask and his two holes were cut for the man's eyes. "Sh sh shhh." The man brought his face closer to yours. You screamed into his hand and trashed violently, trying to break free from your restraints. The masked man tightened his hand over your mouth, squeezing your face. You cried out in pain at his strength and continued your escape attempt. The man sighed and grabbed something from the bedside table with his free hand. "It seems you won't cooperate, what a shame." He climbed on top of you with a rag in his hand. "I need both hands doll, you understand." He removed the hand that was over your mouth and quickly replaced it with the rag, you screamed and wildly shook your head. He was far too strong, lifting up your head and tying the rag tightly around you. A strong smell from the rag filled your nose and you attempted a scream again. It was useless, being gagged quieted you. Tears streamed down the side of your face and you cried out against the rag. A hand gently caressed your face, "Look at me." You obeyed and looked up at the man. Your eyes widened in horror and you started sobbing harder. His mask had spiders crawling out of it, falling onto you. You screamed and closed your eyes, shaking your head violently. The weight of the man suddenly disappeared. You opened your eyes to see that he had gotten off of you, he grabbed a notebook from the side table, writing something down quickly. He put the notebook down, turning his head towards you. He rushed back to the side of the bed, his blue eyes boring into you.
Those eyes..
"What did you see?" He yanked the rag from your mouth and replaced it with his index finger, "Shshsh." He lowered his voice, "Tell me what you saw."
"S-Spiders." You whimpered, your body shuddering with sobs.
He tilted his head, and shoved the rag back into your mouth. He grabbed the notebook again, jotting something else down.
You looked around the room and screamed out against the rag once more. A giant spider was in the corner, crawling its way towards you, its long legs moving slowly. You trashed violently, turning your head towards your captor. You lifted your head, attempting to plead with him. He made his way back to you, grabbing your chin. "If I take the rag out, will you behave?" You nodded your head quickly, looking up at him with wide eyes. He gently pulled the rag out of your mouth.
"Please please please," you babbled, "Please make it stop." You cried, craning your head towards the man. He brought his face closer to yours, stroking your cheek with his fingertips. He said something that you couldn't understand and you felt a sharp pain in your arm. Your body reacted immediately, your senses going numb and your eyelids getting heavy. You fought against it, trying to keep your sight on the masked man but you couldn't fight it, your vision going black.

Scary, Spicy, and Sweet?
Synopsis: You work as a new Nurse in Smith's Grove after finding a passion working with mentally ill patients. Impressed with your skills, Dr. Loomis assigns you to the infamous Michael Myers. His terrorizing activities take an odd, sexy turn that surprises you.
This will be split into two parts. The second part will have 18+ scenes.
This is a request from soooo long ago for @hdhhffgjdhdhdbdbd. I do hope that you enjoy
---
Smith’s Grove Sanitarium.
The big hulking prison-like facility was a new work home for you. A new 40 plus hour workweek included treating and restraining the mentally insane.
It sounded intimidating, but after dealing with the general public for 4 years, this feels like it would be easy. You graduated with your nursing degree with the intention of becoming a registered nurse (RN) and working your way up into a management position. After rotating through several departments within the 4 years of being an RN, you found a distinct passion working in the mental health floor. This prompted you to get your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMH-NP) license to work in a mental health facility. This is where you ended up, with a shiny new position at Smith’s Grove.
You were already assigned to a young man named James Gary (15), who often suffered hallucinations and delusions from his extreme schizophrenia. The young boy would often have outbursts and try to combat what he saw and heard. His family was overwhelmed with trying to care for him and decided to dump him into this facility, after a particularly traumatic event involving his little sister. It was sad, but not uncommon for families to do so.
James was known to be hostile after a few days with a nurse. However, he seemed to be quite pleasant and sweet after you started working with him. Throughout the rest of the 6 months of working with him, he’s had significantly less outburst. A few of the doctors that heard of this figured you were very skilled and were impressed with how you handled him. You,however, thought it was mostly due to James having a crush on you. He would often try to flirt with you, even though you’ve obviously dodged his advances.
A particular psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis, took interest in your ability. One day he approached you on transitioning to supervising another patient full time.
“Is there no way I could still work with James? He would be heartbroken if I just left him.”
“Young James will be alright. This other patient is a special case that needs expert hands and a strong personality to deal with him.”
“And who is this other patient, Doctor?”
“Michael Myers.”
You were apprehensive to take the transfer. Dr. Loomis did offer a sizable bump in your pay if you switched. However, you recognized that name. Two months ago, a nurse by the name of Susan Dreheary took over his care. Poor thing would often come crying to the breakroom, scared out of her mind. She would complain about how evil and scary Michael was. That he was a terror trying to administer medicine to. One day, she came in with a broken arm and a traumatized look on her face. That was the last you ever saw of her.
For some reason, the money spoke to you more in your final decision. Nurse Susan was a bit soft and it was her first job out of the program, whereas you had ample experience dealing with combative patients. You figured you would be fine.
—
Everything about Smith’s Grove was boring. It used to be entertaining to watch the other crazies around the facility, but now Michael couldn’t do that any longer. His latest few stunts landed him being consistently drugged and/or restrained by chains in his room. These attempts didn’t stop him from terrorizing anyone close by. Meaning all the nurses who’ve tried to take care of him. They have been through 3 nurses in the last 3 months, who have quit or seriously gotten hurt.
Michael did not care. He needed some form of entertainment. Scaring people is one of his favorite activities. Unfortunately, the one thing Michael gets bored with is the nurse’s reactions. They all want to act brave and save face when interacting with them. Standing tall with smiles plastered on their faces acting unaffected. They never want to admit that they were terrified of him.
Each time he were to be treated, they would keep a blank look or smile. Michael would stare, suddenly grab their hand, or loom over them. It would obviously affect them. Their eyes would be wide and a slight tremble would start in their movements. But, most would shakily laugh it off.
His continued actions would escalate in intensity. Sometimes, he would have bizarre reactions just to see Dr. Loomis gaslighting the nurses with his explanation.
‘Surely Michael Myers, the stone-faced presence of evil, did not smile at you Nurse Eve.’
‘He is incapable of showing emotions, Nurse Lin.’
‘Perhaps you are not a fit for this patient as I thought, Nurse Dom.’
Dr. Loomis did not believe Michael to be a visibly emotional being. The doctor has tried for years to get a reaction out of Michael. And none have worked. Why would he start showing emotions to only the nurses? Physical or intimidating attacks and attempts were an expected reaction. But to say he made facial expressions was unfathomable. The doctor could not conceptualize this in his mind.
Michael would get another nurse, he would terrorize them, and they’d be out within about a month. The continuation of a banal cycle of his life.
Until.
You walk in, small and apprehensive. Michael looks over and you are actually terrified. You hands were shaking. Your eyes would avert when you made eye contact with him. The whole time you say nothing, just nodding along with the directions Dr Loomis was instructing you on.
For the first time in years, Michael felt giddy. He had to try not to smirk. Finally someone he can play with.
–
It's been two weeks, and you still haven't gotten used to Michaels’ presence. That man was a horror. His aura wrapped around you, choking you with how intense and powerful he was. Your nerves were consistently wound up when you walked to his room. Recently, you had to take a muscle relaxer to get rid of the tension pain in your neck. To try to get through his care, you usually let your soul escape your body. This allows you to blank out and get his medicine administered.
Has he tried to scare you a few times? Yes. Either by intense staring or jerking towards you. You always scream and jump back, which makes him smirk. Satisfaction glows within his eyes.
As the next three weeks progressed, his stares felt different. Still intimidating, that has not changed. But, it may be held more interest. Curiosity. You could be entirely wrong. There have been instances where you felt his eyes linger on certain body parts. Like your breast. Your thighs. And your ass. You figured that he was probably trying to mess with you even more.
On your first day off, you received a call from Dr. Loomis. He requested that you come in to give Michael a quick sedative and watch him throughout the night, as he was being extremely difficult to the staff on call. When caring for Micahel, your shift was always 8 AM to 6 PM. It was currently 4 PM, and he wanted you to work from 7PM to 5 AM.
Fuck! You were already 4 episodes in the first season of JJK and thoroughly enjoying your home cooked meal. You were about to say no before Dr. Loomis gave you a great offer.
“You’ll get extra pay just for this shift.”
“How much?”
“How’s $80 an hour sound?”
That’s all you needed to hear. You decide to go in.

so with the show gone, what's your headcanon on the ventures's future? have the creators mentioned anything about it?
A few things in passing but not too much. Namely just that Dean is gonna lose his hair and that Hank will eventually step foot in Mars as an adventurer. I think Doc and Jackson said as much that they want to keep the door open for future stories in case they do get to come back, and that they'll always have new things they'll want to do, but anyway yes okay, post-show headcanons:
Doc burns through Jonas Jr's fortune and for the most part remains the same, but he eventually achieves a true breakthrough of his own: a permanent solution to hair loss. It comes with a few little side effect mutations but for the most part it does work and Doc is, reasonably pretty happy that for once he gets something to his name that he actually made and isn't something horrible done to him. "Reasonably happy" is as happy as Rusty is ever allowed to get, and he dies a few weeks later by something predictably stupid, like auto-erotic asphyxiation.
It's shitty, Dr Orpheus cries over it, but everyone kinda saw it coming.
Most of Doc's assets get seized and the boys actually don't get much, he forgot to put them in the will because he made it back when he still had the clone farm. Rusty's last wish is to be cremated so nobody gets to clone him, and for his ashes to be scattered at Spanakopita, which has become a big White Lotus-esque resort island since Doc's last visit, built by Giorgo almost entirely off the Venture fortune. On the boat ride to Spanakopita, (WHITE LOTUS SEASON 2 SPOILERS) Sgt Hatred dies exactly like Tanya did and nobody bothers to fish his body back up.
Eventually some Rusty clones will pop up over the years, one of which is gonna be on that offscreen Rusty that went on the Cleveland Time Machine adventure with Billy. Once they leave Rusty's science basement, Billy and Pete White will never make it to the big leagues, but they'll pretty much be together until the end, and they are gonna go on some real weird adventures, like freaky Doom Patrol stuff, St.Cloud is gonna get up to some shit in the future once he bumbles into becoming rich enough to warp space-time around him just by existing and turn into the world's first Level 100 antagonist by the least amount of effort humanly possible. Actually the whole world is gonna get a lot weirder in the future, when stuff like the cloning tech and anti-gravity music boxes bleed over into general public use.
At some point the Earth will be menaced by the return of General Treister, who has absorbed enough cosmic radiation to become Galactus (this one was mentioned in the artbook as something they'd play around with, if they ever brought Treister back). He will be stopped from devouring the planet by a joint effort between Hank Venture, the Guild and the OSI, and Hunter Gathers will sacrifice herself in the process, passing the OSI's leadership to Shore Leave, who will bring SPHINX back every few months just so he has an excuse to interject SPHINX! into sentences again for funsies. Brock essentially becomes the OSI's equivalent to Red Death: basically retired, but he goes on assignments a couple times per year or gets brought onboard for decision-making, some part of him actually does kinda like this life and he stands by the friends he's made in it. He keeps touch with the Ventures but for the most part he flies solo. At some point he will have enough illegitimate children across the world for them to start their own super spy group.
Hank becomes an adventurer, and for the most part he just remains Hank as always. He makes a lot of strange alliances all over the place, he doesn't resort as much to his entourage of personas but some still come up on occasion (the double life of Enrico Matassa is one for the history books), he reforms Shallow Gravy with Dermott (who is totally 100% getting kicked out of the OSI) and Gary and HELPeR and Scare Bear playing the triangle, for the most part he lives up to the idea of being more "Rusty Venture" than Rusty himself ever was and he becomes like the first major Venture adventurer who's not some kind of monster. He completely and totally blows out any chance at settling down into normalcy, but he lives an exciting life. 50/50 on him either dying young doing something incredibly stupid and careless, or somehow stumbling his way into full-blown Highlander immortality just as 21 foresaw.
Dean I think stays in New York full time and is another 50/50 on him: he's either gonna succeed in having a normal life, or he's becoming a villain, I'm taking the fandom side on this one, villain Dean is not the most exciting idea in the world but it has some legs to it and I can't see him being anything else if he's gotta be a part of that binary whether he likes it or not. In the former, I imagine he finishes college, maybe gets a degree in something lowkey, probably changes his name and settles down with somebody and stops answering most calls, basically makes it like Professor Van Helping in that his life is okay and that's just how he wants it. Villain Dean I think happens in largely a similar way to how it happened to Dr Girlfriend taking over the Guild: not something they wanted or planned to, but it's the best way to keep things stable and keep themselves afloat amidst the chaos that surrounds them whether they want it or not. Maybe he finally listens to King Crimson and it breaks his brain into mad science a bit, as it tends to do, or maybe he invokes his blood right to appoint himself Sovereign but otherwise keeps hands-free of the Guild, and only does it so the Guild leaves him alone and he can boss other villains into standing down. He's gonna have freaks in costume trying to get him for the rest of his life so, fuck it, when in Rome or something.
At some point in the very near future Mantilla takes over the Peril Partnership and guts it to make ARCH a real thing, and maybe in the future ARCH kinda replaces the Guild at the forefront of supervillain institutions, with the Guild having the final word in matters of diplomacy and the old guard and ARCH as the new high-tech face of things. She never succeeds in getting to be besties with Dr Girlfriend, but she does hit it off nicely with Sirena, who takes over after Wide Wale and fires basically everyone that was still around after the Morpho saga. The Order of the Triad actually does succeed in making it pretty big, with comparatively few players but some very powerful additions like Lila, Red Death's daughter, and some of Jefferson's old buddies. Definitely not Triana though, she's got better to do than run with her dad's crew. Somehow HELPeR winds up joining and gets married to the Pants Golem.
Gary is gonna keep on being Henchman 21 up until the moment The Monarch dies, at which point he might actually undergo another big transformation of the self and will probably just outright become a sidekick to the heroes. He's never going to truly be a hero or a villain himself, he gave those a try and he's pretty firmly the kind of guy that only comes to life when someone else tells him what to do, so I imagine he's gonna bounce around until he finds something he finds fulfilling, will probably go on plenty of adventures with Hank. Really by this point he's already an honorary Venture, with The Monarch out of the picture so goes the pretense. Sheila, I think she just runs the Guild for as long as she can, probably reformulates it into something more sustainable by the end of her run. Sheila's arc in the show is about her climbing the ranks and moving away from her role as a number two, and distancing herself more from The Monarch because of it, and she's not going back to her old life so I think she's just fully going to remain The Sovereign up until she gets too sick of it, possibly moves into politics at Radical Left's suggestion and hands the Guild off to Phantom Limb. Maybe even becomes President of the United States for a bit, if anyone in the cast is becoming president it's really gotta be her. Or maybe not since she's overqualified, but still, if she does, in the process she hands the Guild to Phantom Limb, who basically makes it a drinking buddies gentleman's club and is too retired and rich and old to care much about anything anymore.
The movie ends with a pretty firm statement that The Monarch is just going to keep on being The Monarch no matter what and that he will in fact never stop trying to arch Rusty, and he's had like a million chances to kill Doc by now and didn't seize any of them so really yes he will just keep doing this until one or both pass. And I'm definitely thinking Doc goes first, Malcolm is torn between celebrating and flipping the fuck out that Doc DARED to not let The Mighty Monarch kill him, and for a brief moment he's completely and totally unsure as to what the fuck is he going to do with his life. He's like this close to genuinely trying to turn his life around and try to be a Blue Morpho-esque hero again if only because he and Gary had some good times and, y'know by this point he hates the Guild more so than the OSI, but then the Rusty clones show up and, you know what, fine, I can work with this, THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH IS NO MATCH FOR THE ACID CUMSHOT OF VENGEANCE, DOCTOR VENTURE, MUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! and then he crashes his new butterglider into a cliffside Wile E.Coyote style and he dies like two weeks into a new plan.
Gary cries, Sheila's heartbroken, but again, they and everyone totally saw this coming.

I saw Frozen Empire, so obviously I have to talk about it. Spoilers ahead.
Also disclaimer that these are my personal feelings, so if we disagree that's okay too!
So, overall I would rate the movie as good. Not my all time favorite in the franchise, I think that will always go to the original, but I enjoyed it. The story could have used a little work in some parts, but hey, nothing is perfect.
Favorite part of this whole movie: one Dr. Raymond Stantz, hands down. He is so cute as an old man-child whose enthusiasm hasn't waned the least bit over the years. Honestly, in Afterlife he seemed like he'd become cynical, but here his true nature really rang through. And I adore him being a mentor for Phoebe and the other younger characters, while also getting into mischief with them. That little sparkle in his eye when Phoebe asks "Aren't you retired?" No, Ray is never retired, he will always be ready to suit up.
I also loved in the police station when Phoebe was standing up to Dickless Peck, Ray had this face like he was so proud, like he could see Egon in her, memories of him saying "YOUR MOTHER!" 😆
The other thing I liked about the movie was the expansion of the Ghostbusters as a business, with the research lab. First off, I love that Winston, the one who didn't even believe in ghosts when he was hired, is now almost like the CEO of the company. But also, it opens up more possibilities for this new era and allows for more playing with the world building. Though I feel like it was a wasted opportunity to put in some easter eggs for TRGB. Unless the ghosts featured were in the (*shudder*) Q5 episodes, I didn't recognize any of them from the show. Then again, I guess they're newer ghosts so that wouldn't make sense, but maybe they could have been similar kinds of ghosts. Just as a small reference.
Other favorite parts include:
-The near-lesbian romance between Phoebe and Melody
-Ray smuggling the Mini Pufts from Oklahoma (because of course he would)
-Also just the Mini Pufts in general (why are they so violent?)
-The way Ray's face lit up when Peter came to the firehouse
-Peter being proud that Ray quit smoking
-Peter's unwavering faith that Ray's idea is good and will work, and saying they all trust him
-The library ghost (did they never go back to get her???)
-Gary saying the words to the theme song
-Janine in uniform!
-Slimer eating the pizza with the posesser ghost in it
Now, onto the areas that I felt were not as strong. First of all, I found it wild that Phoebe was being ousted by everyone without any kind of fight. She's the one that started the whole thing up again, she's got the passion, she's got the brains, she's got the glasses and the curls! Her mom says a grand total of NOTHING to defend her in Peck's office, and they all just accept that she can't be a Ghostbuster anymore. Yeah, they don't want to get sued, but it's just weird to me that they don't even seem like they feel that terrible that she got benched. Callie and Trevor are very callous about the whole thing. Only Gary seems like he gives a shit, and he's not even her dad. The way Phoebe's benching ended wasn't all that satisfying either. It would have been nice for the other three to maybe struggle a little without her, realize they need her to balance the team, and try to find a way to get her back. Winston was really the one that got Peck off their backs in the end, no thanks to anyone else (also, I'm pretty sure in that scene, someone in the crowd yells 'dickless' 😆).
Side note, I really don't like Callie's character that much. I think she's self-centered and doesn't seem to care about the kids' feelings unless the situation becomes dire. Maybe she does deep down, but mostly her attitude about everything stinks. Idk, I wouldn't care if she wasn't in the movie at all.
Anyway, back to the plot. I liked the idea of Phoebe's plotline. I wish they'd gone all the way and had her and Melody kiss, I really thought that was coming when she separated from her body. But I have an issue about that particular moment. The decision to suddenly put herself in the chamber like that seemed to come out of nowhere, at least I thought so. They made it like Melody was supposed to be the one tricking her into doing it, but she really never said anything to convince her. Phoebe just decided on her own to try it. I know she mentioned a couple of times wondering what it would feel like to be a ghost, but it wasn't a strong enough buildup to such a risky move. Honestly, when she asked Ray about him wanting to be a ghost, coupled with Winston saying Ray was going to get himself killed, I thought they were foreshadowing killing Ray (and thank God they didn't!).
They also hint at Phoebe specifically being the one that needs to be used but why? Anyone could have been tricked into the chamber and been controlled by Garaka for the chanting.
But moving on from that, the other issue I have is with the firemaster. He was a little too good at controling the fire after what, a couple of hours of practice? I think the character could still work, he could still be a quirky weird guy, but I think I would have made him more of a reluctant inheritor of his grandma's powers. Maybe he struggles with it at first and he figures he can sell the artifacts to Ray to get rid of the responsibility. Then later he can finally accept his fate to help beat Garaka when he starts believing in himself.
Those are the only major parts that I felt could have been tweaked. Besides that, I would have loved to see Slimer and Ray get a moment, just as a nod to their friendship in the show, but I guess they want to stick to one continuity. Of all the things they could have referenced from the show, though, it had to be the Junior GB 😆 It was just a throwaway line, but still, I don't want to remember they were a thing.
Tl;dr, the movie was good and there were a lot of parts I really enjoyed. For the parts that were weak, I'm confident there will be another in the future, so hopefully they'll keep improving.
Also, who the hell voted for Peck to be mayor? I bet he rigged the election.

Time Doesn't Heal All Wounds Part 8
Narrator: About 7 months pass and it's now September of 2008. Gordon had been on break after taking the Express to Barrow.
(Gordon enters Scott's room while Gary and George are on their lunch break).
Gordon: Hello brother. I just heard some news about this new engine. Apparently she is to pull her first passenger train today in Loughborough. To think after the completion of her tender only six months prior, she was launched from Darlington. Meanwhile you have been doing nothing but sleep your days away and -
(He stops to take a breath).
Gordon: My apologies for ranting. I know that this is beyond our control, but it feels like mistakes have been made at every turn.
(Gordon rubs his eyes).
Gordon: I bare no ill will to this young engine of course. She likely has minimal awareness of your even existence. My one hope is that one day you can meet her in a conscious state. She would benefit from a mentor. Especially since she will be doing tests for the main line at the museum soon.
(Gordon looks at the clock then pats Scott's hand).
Gordon: I'll try to visit you around Christmas, brother.
(He stands up and goes to leave).
Gary: Oh. Hello, Gordon.
(Gordon nods).
Gordon: Afternoon, gentlemen. I was about to go back to my engine. I have to make the return journey back to Sodor.
George: Ah well we can call for a cab if you want.
(Gordon shakes his head).
Gordon: I can manage fine. Thank you for the offer. I told my brother that I would try to visit around Christmas. Perhaps we can share a meal?
(Gary shakes Gordon's hand).
Gary: Well we'd like to share a nice roast with you, Gordon. Please have Sir Topham Hatt call in advance so we can plan for it.
Gordon: Of course. Thank you for both the offer and for watching over my brother. I hope the boiler will be done soon.
(They wave as Gordon leaves the hospital).
Narrator: Winter arrives and Mr. Scott visits the hospital room.
Andrew: Gentlemen, I have an update.
(Gary and George look at Andrew).
Andrew: We recently got a notification from Riley and Son regarding the boiler parts.
(He takes a breath knowing the ramifications of this).
Andrew: Many rivet holes were misaligned and some of the welding was found to be defective.
(Gary and George are shocked).
George: What does this mean?
Andrew: All of the parts that couldn't be used have already been sent back to Pridhams. It likely won't be refitted until the next year.
(Gary and George groan).
Gary: This isn't good. The doctor said that within 6 months, Scott needs to be woken up or he won't be able to wake up at all.
Andrew: I understand. I'll see if their work is good enough to at least temporarily fit the boiler.
George: Thank you, sir.
(Andrew turns to leave).
Andrew: I'll return once I have word on when the boiler can be refitted.
Narrator: To the fortune of everyone involved, Mr. Scott arrives at the hospital only two months later.
Andrew: Gentlemen I bring good news that the boiler is in good enough condition to be refitted.
(Gary and George sigh in relief).
Gary: Thank goodness. Scott hasn't be doing well these past couple of weeks.
George: Are they refitting the boiler now?
Andrew: Yes, the engineers at Riley and Son should be done with the refitting process by tomorrow. In fact, I'm going to speak with his care team so that he can be woken up by then.
(Andrew leaves the room).
George: Did you hear that Scott? Progress is being made. Just hang in there.
Narrator: The next day, everyone gathered.
Andrew: I have Sir Topham Hatt on the phone. Gordon wasn't able to come on such short notice.
Gary: We understand, sir.
(Dr. Pine comes in).
Dr. Pine: Now I have to advise that you keep things as simple as possible. This is an induced coma so there will be a lot of confusion.
George: Thank you, Dr. Pine.
Narrator: Everyone waits with bated breath as Dr. Pine works.
(Scott groans).
Gary: Scott?
(Scott's eyes flutter).
Scott: Gary?
AN: We're back after the hiatus for my other requests. If I didn't tag you, my apologies as I try my best to include everyone.

MEET EWAN GLASS‼️ (lore/headcanons under the cut)
nico pays dr venture a nice little chunk of money to make a test tube baby for they and gary after they get engaged. little did they know, however, venture hasn't made a test tube kid in over 20 years and he accidentally "overcooked" their son, causing him to come out a whole three year old instead of a new born.
when gary first met his son, he became a huge softie and practically bawled his eyes out, seeing how much his son resembled himself.
when nico met their son, they wouldn't put him down for at least 8 hours, they felt so much love for their little boy.
ewan calls nico "papa", gary "daddy", monarch "unkie mal" and dr mrs "auntie she/aunt sheila"
since nico spends most of the day working from home and with ewan while gary and the monarch's are out villaining, they show ewan a bunch of old cartoons they used to watch
nico calls ewan "booger" as an affectionate nickname (it took gary a while to get used to hearing this before warming up to it)
gary and ewan watch old star trek together so much. it's literally their favorite thing to do. ewan even picked up on the vulcan hand gesture on his own and gary felt SO proud of his boy
malcolm secretly teaches ewan swear words.
sheila took a while to get used to having a toddler running around, but once she actually sat down with him she accepted the title of auntie with pride

BAU guys + Love Languages (Pt1)
According to Dr. Gary Chapman, there're 5 main ways in which we show and receive love. These are some head canons on the love languages I think apply to each BAU guys. Are you compatible? My ask is always open if you want to share your thoughts and hcs with me! If you want to find out your love language you can take a free test here!
Spencer Reid
Giving: Spencer definitely shows love through acts of services. He's the type of partner/friend that will help you with a chore or offer to do it for you. He's a "fixer" even if sometimes he doesn't understand what that means. As a friend, he'll constantly notice if you're struggling with a task and offer a solution. As a romantic partner, he'll always be ontop of your needs, physical and emotional, to make sure that they are being solved.
When communication is not good, he might come across as insensitive, sometimes you just want to vent and be heard. He might seem like he wants to one-up you or show you that he could solve the problem faster, but that's not his intention. He wants you to be well again, as quickly as he can make it happen.
Receiving: Words of affirmation is how he understands you love him. Thanks to his autistic tendencies/neurodivergent coding he has trouble understanding social cues and underlying messages. You have to be forward with him about everything you do, no matter how fast he can pick up on your mood, if you don't tell him what's wrong, he won't be able to tell.
If you're not able to communicate properly, he might feel unwanted and pushed away. Simple expressions such as "you did good" "thank you so much for helping me" "I appreciate your input on my work/issues" can be very fulfilling for him. He needs to be reminded of what he does well so he can continue doing it, even if he himself doesn't verbalize his feelings a lot. Physical touch and quality time are his least present languages.
Aaron Hotchner
Giving: Hotch mentions time and again how he tries his best to provide both the team and his family his undivided attention. Doesn't this sound just like quality time? His job might take him away for weeks at a time, sure, but it's his whole and complete intention to give you every second he has destined for you without any interruptions.
Because of the line of duty, this can be complicated, sometimes making you feel as if you come last. Even when his love language is in conflict with his line of work, once he's not working, it's all about you and his loved ones. Listening to hours of your rambling, not even looking at his phone (if it's not an emergency), watching an entire movie without falling asleep. When you're with him, he's there, he's present in every way.
His guilt and regret from being away can sometimes add a bit of gift giving to the love language, but even if he shows up with a bouqué of flowers, remember that's only a token, he's there for you and nothing but you.
Receiving: In the same way he makes all the effort to be there, he expects you to be there with him. If you start looking at your phone or pioritizing time with others over time with him, he will feel unhappy and unloved, it’s all about the quality time. Receiving gifts and physical touch don't go a very long way with him, so if you are making him feel unloved you will have to find another way to remind him. This doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy cuddles and gifts every now and then.
Words of affirmation can also be a good way to communicate your love for him, but it's only a support language for quality time. Having dinner without looking at the time, doing a puzzle together, cooperating to help Jack with his homework, those are the moments his heart feels the fullest.
Derek Morgan
Giving: This man will shower you with so many words of affirmation and compliments you might feel like suffocating at times. He will praise you and let you know how adored, cared for, and desired you are. Mix it up with a bit of gift giving, and you've got that attentive boyfriend. Communication is key, because you might run into some trouble if you can't agree exactly on what a praise is. He can run his mouth, and sometimes he says stuff that, even if it's not ill intentioned, might come out as harsh and judgemental.
If you struggle with your self-perception, at times it might feel like he's lying to you or trying to deceive you for an specific purpose. Remind yourself that Derek Morgan is one of the most honest men to ever exist, and he would never say a word he didn't mean (as long as he isn't angry!).
Receiving: This PDA king needs his share of lovin', physical touch is how you can remind him he's the man of your dreams. Holding his hand, touching his shoulder, kissing him in public. He loves being displayed as your man, he loves feeling the electricity generated by your skin when it touches his. If you struggle with physical touch, he might come to think you don't desire him. You'd have to be open about your feelings towards the gestures, and come up with some rules, maybe you don't initiate the contact but try your best to not reject them.
During intimate times, it's very relevant that you initiate contact every once in a while, otherwise he might feel the relationship is one-sided. If you're unable to provide the touch he needs, at least make sure you give him quality time, when you're with him, it should only be about the two of you. This is only a supplement, but it will remind him of your care for him. The least understanble love languages for this man are acts of service and receiving gifts. He can do and buy things for himself, thank you very much.

Hi! I don't know if this has been asked yet. But reading falling falling stars, there's a bit where efnisien talks about how he was meant to be a culmination of the 'worst' parts of Crielle and penny (penny's brutality and Crielle's ability to control it). do you think instead he got the 'best' parts of them (beauty and brains) instead and is why he was still preferred to Gwyn, but not in the specific shape they wanted him in?
Hi anon,
I think Efnisien's assessment is understandable, but it's also like...just his thoughts about something, and not reflective of reality.
He didn't get the best or worst parts of Penny or Crielle. He was raised by abusers, and there were good things and terrible things in that household, but most of the things were terrible. Efnisien's beauty is 'fragile' because he was malnourished so badly, that's not a 'best' thing that he inherited from his family, that was something inflicted on him. His thinness is a symptom of his upbringing and abuse. His pretty face is genetics, he got that just as much from his ancestors as from Penny.
Likewise, his intelligence - as Crielle actually rightly points out - works against him often. It's not a 'best' part at all. People who are highly intellectual but raised in abusive homes often are prone to coping techniques like intellectualisation and catastrophisation, and highly intellectual people are actually more prone to mental illness. Efnisien's ability to think things through without wisdom or guidance or maturity meant he was able to convince himself that he was evil with far more complexity than what Crielle was saying, to reinforce everything she was saying.
These things are not 'best' traits for everyone, anon. Someone being 'ugly' is not the worst thing it's possible to be, and someone being intelligent isn't always the best. Crielle's intelligence was used to manipulate, torture, and sadistically brainwash Efnisien. Is that really her best quality? Her beauty was used to manipulate, deceive and convince people that she was harmless, because folks mistakenly think that 'beautiful' also means 'good' and 'pure' (they're wrong, but it's for this reason that attractive abusers are actually less likely to come to justice than 'ugly' ones). It wasn't one of her best qualities. And it also wasn't something she had a choice over. That's 100% down to genetics.
Also, he didn't inherit that from her anyway, he's Penny's son. And her beauty is also 100% down to genetics.
I'm very wary of attaching words like 'best' or 'good' to traits like beauty (subjective) and intelligence, anon. Like, philosophically, I would not say those were 'best traits' and nor where Penny and Crielle using these qualities in helpful, compassionate, useful, or caring ways. Efnisien didn't either for a long time. In fact he himself makes it clear that he used his prettiness and his beauty to deceive people, and this is why the story makes him look less pretty outside of scenes as the story goes on. He wears less handsome clothing, he wears more comfortable clothing, he doesn't make his hair fashionable any longer, etc.
The story itself is like 'uh, being beautiful and smart can still turn out psychopathic torturers.'
Not best traits, anon. Not worst traits either. Just things that exist, that are used as tools by people both consciously and unconsciously towards all ends. Be wary of thinking this way yourself anon, it sets up an unconscious bias towards believing that people who are ugly and not as smart are somehow 'worse' than people who are beautiful and intelligent.
And the world doesn't work like that at all.
#asks and answers#cognitive bias and distortion#these stories are actually pretty philosophical and if efnisien brought this argument to dr gary#they'd work to unpack it for a really long time#it's also sometimes a way that people try to excuse abusers#anon do you really truly think there was any world in which efnisien would be loved in a healthy and wonderful way#even if he did become a serial killer#because if you do you have believed the rhetoric of the abusers#and they are lying to you#there was no world in which anyone around crielle could ever truly win#because crielle was incapable of loving people in a healthy and wonderful way#regardless of a person's traits#if anything efnisien being *more* of what she wanted in a person#put him in more danger with her and had him abused more#so you know

early season gary climbs through your window to hide from some kind of invention made by dr venture. he walks in on you masturbating. how does he join in? 👀 (request)
yay thank you so much for the request @kuellerr - i love it!! sorry it took a minute, hope you enjoy :)
-
'Crap, crap, crap, crap!' Gary repeats over and over in his head as he cradles the device in his hand while sprinting down someone's lawn.
The Monarch had tasked 21 and 24 to go in and retrieve an invention Dr. Venture had been working on over the past month as he was set to present it to a board of scientists tomorrow.
Unfortunately, for them, 21 had triggered a sensor on their way out, alerting Brock who was currently chasing them with blood-lust in his eyes.
24 had tossed the device over to Gary to throw Brock off since he was a faster runner out of the two. He huffs, practically out of breath as he tries to find somewhere to hide before Brock realizes that 24 doesn't have it.
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees a window that it is open and seizes the opportunity, running towards and slipping inside with no other thought on his mind than to escape Brock.
The last he expected to see was you splayed out on your bed, vibrator in hand as you pleasure yourself, your moans the first thing he hears upon entering the room.
He bites down on his lower lip at the sight, feeling a mixture of shock and arousal at the situation he's found himself in. His pants began to feel tight, his cock slowly hardening as he can't look away from the sight.
Your eyes flutter open briefly and they widen at the sight of a man dressed up in a butterfly costume standing in front of your window, half-hard as the yellow material of his costume does a poor job in masking his bulge.
As your eyes meet, you both stare at each other frozen and before you can let out a scream, Gary rushes over to cover your mouth, causing you to look up at him with a slight pang of fear.
"Oh my god, dude, please don't scream! I-I didn't mean to walk in on your personal business, I was trying to get away from someone!" Gary pleads to which you relax against him.
Gary removes his hand and you let out a sigh of relief, "Lower your mask, butterfly boy, then I won't scream."
He complies, lowering the cowl to reveal his face. You take in his appearance, finding him quite cute with his short ponytail and round cheeks. Based of appearance alone, he seemed harmless.
"How the hell did you even get in here?" You mutter to which Gary simply responds by pointing his thumb in the direction of your wide open window.
"I'm so sorry, dude! I swear I'll be out of your hair once the coast is clear for me." Gary says and your eyebrow raises in skepticism, "And how long will that be?"
"Well.." Gary trails off, sheepishly rubbing the back of your neck.
"If it's going to be a while, at least give me some privacy to finish what I started." You sigh, running your fingers through your hair, though your eyes linger on the prominent bulge that strain through Gary's pants, "Looks like you need some too."
Gary glances down and his face goes red, covering up his bulge. "Oh dude, sorry, can't help it. You're super hot."
Your cheeks flush in response and you throw your pillow at Gary, "Alright, go to the other room! I'll come get you when I'm done!"
Gary nods, taking the pillow off the ground to cover up his crotch as he begins to head towards the door. You grab your vibrator, about to turn it back on, before you freeze, realizing it ran out of batteries.
"Fuck me! Now it's dead." You groan, flopping back onto the bed in frustration. Gary winces at your reaction but an idea forms in his head. It's a wild one, straight out of a porno he's watched before.
He walks up to the edge of your bed and clears his throat, "I could like... help you if you want."
You pause, raising your head to look at Gary. The gears in your brain slowly start to turn as you seriously consider the offer - I mean he's pretty cute, definitely packing a Shai-Hulud and you're sure anything he can offer is better than your fingers.
"You're serious?" You say, eyebrow raising.
"Dead serious!" Gary responds, waiting in anticipation and hoping you don't kick him out right then and there.
You pause briefly and Gary winces, ready to be yelled at but to his surprise, he feels your hands on his cheeks, "Well, it's the least you can do for rudely interrupting me, isn't it?"
"Y-Yes." He stutters before groaning as you pull him into a kiss, feeling your tongue eagerly searching for his.
You break your lip lock, panting softly as you tug the fabric of his costume, pulling him down on top of you, "I need your name, butterfly boy."
"G-Gary.." He stutters out, entranced as you pull off your top.
"Alright, Gary, let's see what you can do." You grin.

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Nora Crest
Doctor Nora Crest was an esteemed physician in Gotham City. She was an accomplished surgeon as well as a highly trained psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. Among her many patients was the city’s former District Attorney, Harvey Dent.
Dr. Crest had diagnosed Harvey as suffering from dissociative identity disorder and the two worked toward helping Harvey better integrate the split off aspects of his psyche that had formed into distinct personas. At the time, Harvey was running for reelection as district attorney and the stress was causing his symptoms to worsen. Dr. Crest strongly recommended that Harvey drop out of the race and take a sabbatical from his position as DA. Yet Harvey was too driven and abjectly refused the recommendation. As such, Dr. Crest did her best to help Harvey better cope with this stress.
The two made a good deal of progress together, yet their work was completely undone when Harvey was severely scarred in a scuffle with mob boss, Rupert Thorne. The damage to Harvey’s face substantially compounded his condition and led to the creation of an all new alternate identity. This new identity called himself Two-Face and would go on to be the dominate persona that controlled Harvey for much of the rest of his life.
Dr. Crest resumed her work with Harvey after he was institutionalized at Arkham Asylum. Once more the two made good progress and Dr. Crest believed that reconstructive surgery to repair Harvey’s face would greatly benefit his recovery. Harvey agreed to this surgery and Bruce Wayne offered to pay for it. Unfortunately, Two-Face re-manifested and arranged for his own abduction so to prevent the surgery. Although Batman was ultimately able to recapture Two-Face and return Harvey to Arkham a new date for the surgery was never set. Presumedly, Harvey and Dr. Crest resumed their work.
Dr. Crest had utilized hypnosis in her efforts to treat Harvey. Although this practice was common in the past, the current consensus is that hypnosis can be very dangerous in cases of dissociative identity disorder and creates a significant risk for an iatrogenic worsening of the condition.
Actress Linda Gary provided the voice for Nora Crest with the physician first appearing in the seventeenth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Two-Face Part One.’

Fionna & Cake final thoughts , opinions and nitpicks lol
This will be unorganized and random and stinky, sorry
• great pacing first 2 eps
• good ideas
• ignoring multiverse saturation, is p decently done here!
• I miss Neil Patrick’s take on Gary/gumball- he sounded so freakin princely :(
• marshall sounded kinda less mischievous than he used to? Like vocally more down or something- I’m super glad he had the same actor tho lol Donaldddd
• I miss old Prismo voice too but I know why these didn’t work out
• Hunter’s voice either could’ve gone for a deep gravely stoicism or could’ve just been w/ the same actor as Huntress Wizard
• Scarab is ehhh- decent design but feels kinda out of place for adventure time- voice is similarly the same offness too, reminded me of kinda bad anime dub voices, it doesn’t feel intentional to the right extent —- either make a more surreal villain or a funnier one, his presence was rather generic
• the spooky faces and scurrying beetle of scarab was kinda funny
• lemongrab. Why justnonce roiland.
• I will end my life a million aeons over for Orbo - bluey’s dad: “say goodbye to your legs!”
• mmmarceline dress
• bubblegum mmmmilitary
• I wish we saw the fucking MOON vampire
• MOON vs STAR (super cool naming if the uh tarot thing is carried on here I legit don’t know if star is an actual tarot card lemme check)
• ORGALORG WHYYYYYY
• marshall n Gary was sweet- but I really wished they played up the bitter exes part before they did just the fluffy dating, bring a bit of parallel consistency
• fionna was good acting! The crying bit made my heart ouches- Character herself was a tad frustrating at times admittedly
• cake is great still - cake and vampire king hilarious
• why no “the star”’s actual dad :(
• BETH SHERMY GIBBON YES YES YES- back to old adventure time: I love the intro theme for Beth and shermy, it’s so melancholic and desolate, cold, with backgrounds that make this so fascinatingly depressing a turn for the land of oo (happy endings impermanent- life goes on kinda deal, so cool, so consistent with adventure time’s own concepts & “everything stays”)
• Simon and Betty made me emotional
• uhh how old was Betty when she starting dating simon? Just offhand lol I’m sure it was fine
• Golbetty had beautiful scenes
• way better simon and Golbetty than that weird adventure time published comic I’m sure some of you read
• the animation is great on some places, other times while well made, feels out of place for adventure time; like it’s trying too hard to be pretty (not the Ice Prince song, stuff like that made sense for adventure time)
• like some bits reminded me of Steven universe’s inconsistencies (same bits that made me really really dislike some of adventure time distant lands’ execution)
• [funny nitpick incoming] like there were points where the characters had really big eyes even tho they r supposed to be dots (not when exaggerating certain emotions cartoonishly, I meant prolonged); adventure time’s deal is keeping them small and kinda hard to decipher
• some bits were just a tinnny too anime that it bothered me, just some! Anime is cool!!!
• I was really expecting or hoping for a Korra styled multi-season just with lesser episodes
• the resolution was… kinda haphazardly handled
• same with some of the final themes, like w/ simon n betty
• adventure time is kinda known for being almost ambiguously optimistic so the whole super happy thing was kinda strange to me
• I know like it shouldn’t have to be the same as adventure time obviously, but that was the general identity of adventure time; the cosmic ambiguity with absurd humor delivered nonchalantly
• like I think of patience st pim’s ice domain during elements and the melancholic quietness of it - also PATIENCE ST PIM WHYYYYY I LOVED YOU (patiencevstheempresscough)
• ORGALORG COME BACK TO MEEEE
• yes it was a great thing to have this miniseries I enjoyed many parts
• the music was fucking fire!!!
• where was the dr two brains reference ? -3-

Brian Dietzen had a tall order when it came to the latest NCIS episode he cowrote with Scott Williams: the tribute to Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard and the actor who played him, the late David McCallum. But it’s one the two were more than ready to take on.
“When you lose someone very close, you can fall into just crying and mourning continually, and while we wanted to pay homage to him, we didn’t want that to be it,” Dietzen tells TV Insider ahead of the February 19 episode. “We wanted to celebrate the fun times as well, and we wanted to celebrate the amazing work that this great actor did on our show and also honor the character that he created. And I think both those people, the character and the actor, would love to see us continuing on and honoring him through continuing to do good work.”
The Season 21 premiere ended with Dietzen’s Dr. Jimmy Palmer calling Alden Parker (Gary Cole) to tell him of Ducky’s death. Now, the focus will turn to celebrating him—and solving the case he was working on before he died. Below, Dietzen talks about writing the episode and shares memories with McCallum, going back to their first scene together.
Talk about how you co-writing this episode came about because it is so fitting that you did so.
Brian Dietzen: We had the work stoppage this last year because of the [writers’ and actors] strikes, so we have a 10-episode order this season instead of our normal 22, sometimes 24 episodes. I’ve been cowriting with Scott Williams just about once a year, the last couple years, and so this year, I let my showrunners, David North and Steven Binder, know that I wasn’t going to request a script because we have a wonderful writing staff and I felt like, oh, there’s no need for me to step in there because we only have 10 episodes. Then David passed away, and I think that Scott really wanted to write his farewell episode and he thought it would be fitting if it would be a co-written with me. David and Steve said, that’s super appropriate. We all think that’s a really good thing, and you two obviously work well together, so go off and do your thing. I was really honored to be asked to do so, and I just wanted to make him proud.
What was your approach to this episode? Because you have to balance honoring David, honoring Ducky, but then also the case and the team’s grief.
Yeah, I think it’s really important that this remains an NCIS episode. It cannot just be some series of flashbacks to prior Ducky Mallard scenes. It was really important for us that we still have a case to solve. You’re living in a legacy of this person that you’ve lost, being Ducky, so we decided to craft a case where there would be something that would thematically link the case to the team’s loss, and those two don’t necessarily have to go hand in glove. They don’t have to be related. It’s not as though the case has to be related to Ducky in any way, but thematically speaking, it really should be.
Michael Yarish/CBS
What can you say about any characters returning or the acknowledgement of them and what Ducky meant to them?
What we tried to do with this episode was we tried honor the team that he worked with, and when I say the team, I mean the greater team, not just this team that we have right now that involves Parker, Torres [Wilmer Valderrama], Knight [Katrina Law], McGee [Sean Murray], Palmer, Kasie [Diona Reasonover], and Vance [Rocky Carroll]. The greater team is all of the different teams he’s worked with, many of which involved Gibbs [Mark Harmon], and then of course there’s Tony [Michael Weatherly] and Ziva [Cote de Pablo], and there’s Bishop [Emily Wickersham], Abby [Pauley Perrette], of course, and everyone in between.
And so when we wrote this thing, while it’s certainly not a show that’s just all about clips or anything like that, there are these remembrances of Ducky and we wanted to see him interacting with people that are on our current team and also people that are on our iterations of our team, too. I think we did a pretty good job with that, and I think that people like to see that they’re getting to see their Ducky many years past as well as the more recent.
What moments working with David came to mind while you were writing the episode then filming it?
Oh, about 6,000, if I’m being honest. I was going through, and I was looking up my first scene with him with a tape recorder at the end of Season 1. I was looking at “The Meat Puzzle” in Season 2. I was looking at “Detour,” a Steven Binder classic where we’re being chased through the woods directed by Mario Van Peebles. That was actually a really cool episode to look back on because David, if I look at it now, I thought, oh man, he was 80 years old, 81 years old when we shot that episode. And it’s Jimmy and Ducky running through a wooded forest at night in the snow, and obviously asking an 80-something-year old man to do that for continual night shoots, that’s not okay. So they ended up building a whole forest on our set and made it snow [and] we shot it during the day.
Monty Brinton/CBS
Some of those things hit me and memories hit me. And so as I’m watching all these old shows as we’re writing this new show, I can’t tell you how many just good times that we had together, and I don’t want to try to summarize it in just a couple of quotes here because it’s tough to summarize 20 years of friendship and 20 years of camaraderie and mentorship and great scenes together being shared. But what I will say is that the thing that I’ll always remember and that hit me so hard when I was watching all of these things is just what a terrific worker David McCallum was continually. He always showed up prepared. He knew his things. He did every scene with the absolute best of his ability. And that’s something that I watched him do for years and tried to adopt for myself as well. So yeah, it’s been an honor.
How do you remember Jimmy and Ducky’s relationship?
I see it as a partnership and somewhat of a mentorship. I remember there’s one point at which some writer on our staff years ago—I can’t remember who the person was exactly—started wanting to get into this, oh, he’s like a son to Ducky, this is like his father figure, and had some lines about that. And David said, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no. They’re partners, and they’re work colleagues. The second we start getting into a hierarchy of, he’s my son or I’m his father sort of thing, there’ll be a power dynamic that I don’t want to explore too much. I want it to be that Jimmy can speak his mind when he needs to and so can Ducky.” And that’s the way he treated it. It was really about, we’re in this thing together.
I think that was what was really, really great about those two characters is that they both lifted each other up. Jimmy had this reverence for Ducky that was so easy to see, and Ducky, the moment that he found out that Jimmy had passed his medical examiner’s license test, he was a doctor, the first thing he says is “Dr. Palmer” with all this pride in his voice. And I’d be lying if I didn’t say it made me teary to think about because David treated me that way as well in my personal life. He was very kind, very proud when I started to take over more of the load of the M.E. at NCIS. He’d call me and say, “I love the scene you did. I love this and that. I’m so proud you’re doing this in my stead.” And so yeah, art imitated life here and there.
What do you recall about your first and last scenes together?
Our first scene together, I remember I booked this episode. It was a one day guest star, and so I was just going to go and do one scene for NCIS, and it was a spinoff of JAG, and I think I’d seen one episode of it at the time, and I’ll be honest, I didn’t know who David McCallum was, and I’d never seen The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. At the time, I’d never seen The Great Escape. So I was pretty uncultured. I walked in, and I did this scene with this really terrific actor. That’s all I knew. I just knew, well, he’s really good, he’s really fantastic. And so I went home and I looked up, who is this guy? What has he been in before? Only to find out that he was like one of film and TV’s Beatles from the 1960s. [Laughs] He was a living legend, and that was pretty great.
And what was wonderful is that we got along well and the producer at the time, Don Bellisario, saw, oh, those two work really well together. Let’s have Brian come back next week and then the next week and then the next week. It’s because the two of us worked well together and we worked well on our scenes that I got to keep working. So that was really, really wonderful.
I’ll say one of the last scenes that I remember doing with David in person—because over the last few years, David was shooting most of his scenes in New York and we would have him on a screen or an iPad or something like that—was Ducky and Jimmy at a diner just eating together. There was no case that we were talking about, there was no red herring or anything like that. It was just two guys sitting there talking about a girl that Jimmy likes, and it was a friend listening to another friend over a sandwich. I thought, looking back on it, that’s really wonderful. Because we did that so often within our autopsy scenes where the scene is about this body before us and all of the evidence that we have to deliver to the rest of the team, but the dialogue could be about just about anything. We could be joking about things. He could be going off on some diatribe about something that was seemingly unrelated but it really came through historically in this situation. And so yeah, it was a cool scene to go back and reflect on.

dr bambillo and sir maxwell therapy headcanons? :)
OUGH At work SO KIND IF BADLY WRITTEN SORRY BUT HERE YOU GO!!!!!!-
•Max was assigned to therapy when he had that huge meltdown and tired to you know- burn the school down.
•on top of having to serve many community service hours (his parents managed to get him out of jail time) he was forced to attend weekly therapy sessions.
•He hated it. Absolutely despised it. Even more so someone from the school was the one to do it. There wasn’t a way he could twist the story. Everyone knew what he did.
•First sessions go no where. Max is tight lipped. Dr.Bambillo tried many tricks to get him to talk but he stands firm.
•After 2 or so sessions Dr.Bambillo finally gets him to speak, “Max, the quicker you speak up the quicker you won’t have to attend these sessions.” That was a lie, but it worked like a charm.
•Max refuses to give anything but one word answers, to start. Eventually he begins to respond to the questions being asked.
•But not with the Information the doctor wants. No, max has questions of his own. He attempts to break down the doctor. Questioning his ability, mind, age. Anything to get the doctor to quit on him.
•The Doctor knows his game, it’s amusing! Like a rat in a maze running the same path.
•To eachother it’s a game of chess. A test of whit to see who breaks first. Sadly max is too dumb to realize this is a way of therapy.
•Max is tricked into revealing the things bothering him. Especially with the Gary stuff, an insult to him makes max skin crawl. Almost on instinct does he rush to defend him, but catches himself.
•”Gary didn’t mean to leave me! He was-“
“…was.…”
•I have a feeling Max will be far more open down the road, he will be able to explore his gender, why he acted that way with Gary, his relationships going forward. He gets help. Thank god
