I’d like to suggest perhaps that Eddie in danger in this coma world or maybe even dying is what shocks Buck into breaking out of it. The panic and emotions Buck feels is completely incongruent with this world in which they are essentially strangers. Maybe Buck has to throw on his firefighter uniform to save his man???

there's literally no way buck's subconscious could ever craft an intricate believable life for buck that doesn't include eddie diaz though. there's just no way. these two motherfuckers are so intertwined they can understand each other without words, eddie is a part of buck so there's no world in which eddie is entirely absent. and honestly the in another life of it all is making me a little feral because idk what's going to happen. but, god, i think my favourite idea so far is that eddie's just there. there's no explanation for it, he just keeps popping up randomly and buck's like "idk who tf you are and its honestly kind of creepy that you might be stalking me but im too afraid to say anything that would make you go away because it feels like you're supposed to be here with me".
