“Jesus Christ love I didn’t know you could hit like that”
Rage room 🙂🔥
rage room II e.toone
"baby! i love ya so much but please hurry up." the mancunian groaned, twirling her keys around on her pointer finger. "el we are literally not booked in until three and it's only eleven thirty." you laughed at her impatience from the bedroom.
"yeah but we're gettin our nails done and then goin for lunch and then the rage room at three. we're on a tight schedule here woman chop chop!" the midfielder clapped, popping her head through the doorway with a raised eyebrow.
"sorry! i'll hurry up love." you made a point to bend down and lace your sneakers in slow motion, ella leaning against the door frame with a long and annoyed groan.
"i'm getting grey hairs here man." your girlfriend huffed with a shake of her head, smacking your hands away and kneeling down lacing up your shoes for you.
"sure babe you can borrow my jordans, thanks for askin." ella mocked sarcastically as you grinned. "sure love you can borrow my prada sunglasses, thanks for askin." you quipped back as the smile was wiped from her face.
"fair point. come on then!" she took your hand and pulled you to your feet. "baby!" ella moaned as you dug your heels in just to annoy her further, trudging slowly across the living room.
"you're such a fuckin wind up!"
~
"thank you for today el, its been perfect." you smiled sincerely, sat across from your girlfriend at your favorite japanese restaurant, leaning across and meeting her lips in a sweet kiss. "anything for you and that gorgeous smile baby." ella flirted charmingly as you shook your head.
"if only you were this smooth when you asked me out the first time." you teased as ella's cheeks flushed bright red. "you promised to stop bringin that up!" ella whined burying her face in her hands.
you'd transferred to united from bristol city two years ago and ella had been enamored by you from the moment you stepped foot into the locker room with a shy wave, a little taken aback by how forward and friendly the entire team was.
her best friends very quickly picking up on the developing crush she'd been relentlessly bullied into eventually asking you out on a date. though with half the team well aware of her feelings and the lingering fear of rejection she'd been a nervous wreck.
the words got jumbled up together and her attempt to ask you just for coffee wound up with her asking you to buy her a coffee and you leaving with a confused nod, showing up the next day with a flat white in hand for her and a very embarrassed number seven who hurried to correct what she'd meant.
"babe its a crucial part of our epic love story, i can't pretend it didn't happen." you grinned as your food arrived and you both thanked the server. "teach me please?" ella asked eagerly holding up the chopsticks in hand.
"el, love we tried this last time." you smiled sympathetically but unable to say no to her pleading eyes you walked her through it, the brunette eventually dropping them to the table with a clatter and a list of swear words dropped from her lips.
"fuck this." ella grumbled, snatching the fork you'd made sure to order for her and stabbing the california role before shoving it angrily into her mouth in one go.
"what?" she asked with a frown, mouth still full of sushi. "you know babe sometimes i miss when we weren't so comfortable around each other."
~
"so obviously the walls are off limits! they are cement though so i wouldn't recommend to hit them anyway because the shock of the bat hitting it could break your hand." the worker shrugged casually as you and your girlfriend shared a look.
"thats mostly everything. have fun ladies!" he shrugged, stepping out and closing the door as music filled the room. "ready baby?" ella grinned, moving forward and tugging your glasses down over your eyes.
"go!" ella cheered, swinging her bat at a stack of as you pumped your fists and the music got a little louder. you watched on with a grin as your girlfriend wreaked havoc, letting out a war cry and hauling a few plates at the wall.
"go on baby, your turn!" ella encouraged with a wave as you lifted your bat and swung at an old computer monitor barely knocking it over. "nah you can do better than that! think about that prick from ya old job, the one we used to scream into the pillows about!" ella remembered, clicking her fingers.
a sudden rage filling your body you let out a war cry of your own and swung at an old tv sending the glass screen flying in hundreds of tiny pieces around the room.
"jesus christ love i didn't know you could hit like that." ella whistled in shock. "baseball?" you gave her a wolfish grin holding up a mug as she perked up and readied her bat.
"ya know we should really bring mary here babe, she has a lot of rage."

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … November 28
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/df82e170bd819694756e0b9e07b6fcab/fd09791024b28219-f9/s500x750/fd5e15d09db0c5d775688895a458bc981c1b5c3e.webp)
1661 – Edward Hyde, 3rd Earl of Clarendon (d.1723), styled Viscount Cornbury between 1674 and 1709, was Governor of New York and New Jersey between 1701 and 1708, and is perhaps best known for his cross-dressing while in office.
Cornbury came to be regarded in the historical literature as a moral profligate, sunk in corruption: possibly the worst governor Britain ever imposed on an American colony. The early accounts claim he took bribes and plundered the public treasury.
Nineteenth century historian George Bancroft said that Cornbury illustrated the worst form of the English aristocracy's "arrogance, joined to intellectual imbecility". Later historians characterise him as a "degenerate and pervert who is said to have spent half of his time dressed in women's clothes", a "fop and a wastrel".
He is said to have delivered a "flowery panegyric on his wife's ears" after which he invited every gentleman present to feel precisely how shell-like they were; to have misappropriated £1500 meant for the defence of New York Harbor, and, scandalously, to have dressed in women's clothing and lurked "behind trees to pounce, shrieking with laughter, on his victims".
Cornbury is reported to have opened the 1702 New York Assembly clad in a hooped gown and an elaborate headdress and carrying a fan, imitative of the style of Queen Anne. When his choice of clothing was questioned, he replied, "You are all very stupid people not to see the propriety of it all. In this place and occasion, I represent a woman (the Queen), and in all respects I ought to represent her as faithfully as I can." It is also said that in August 1707, when his wife Lady Cornbury died, His High Mightiness (as he preferred to be called) attended the funeral again dressed as a woman. It was shortly after this that mounting complaints from colonists prompted the Queen to remove Cornbury from office.
1694 – On this date the Japanese poet master Matsuo Basho was born. The most famous poet of the Edo period in Japan, during his lifetime, Basho was recognized for his works in the collaborative haikai no renga form; today, after centuries of commentary, he is recognized as a master of brief and clear haiku. His poetry is internationally renowned, and within Japan many of his poems are reproduced on monuments and traditional sites.
According to Jane Reichold's Basho: The Complete Haiku, Matsuo Basho, the poet once wrote "There was a time when I was fascinated with the ways of homosexual love," and this has been suggested as being connected to a sudden move Basho made at age 22 from his home town of Ueno to Kyoto.
1863 – The French painter and engraver Charles Filiger (d.1928), was born on this date (b. 1863). A friend of Gauguin's he took as his method Gauguin's use of flat color and at times seem to venture further into the area of decorative abstraction than the master.
Filiger portrayed the piety of the peasants. Intensely religious himself, and suffering from guilt about his homosexuality, he found it far easier than his more sophisticated friends. But where they lacked Gauguin's psychological insight, Filiger lacked his aesthetic boldness. Rather than invent a new method of painting, Filiger preferred to refurbish the old ones. In this he bears some similarity to the Pre-Raphaelites, in that he also returned to pre-Renaissance sources for inspiration, in his case to Giotto and the Sienese.
He studied in Paris at the Académie Colarossi. He settled in Brittany in 1889, where he was associated with Gauguin and his circle at Pont-Aven, but he remained a mystic and a recluse. The Breton setting, with its stark landscape and devout peasant inhabitants, provided fertile ground for the development of Filiger's mystical imagery and deliberate archaisms.
Filiger's friend, the painter Emile Bernard, characterized Filiger's style as an amalgam of Byzantine and Breton popular art forms. The geometric quality and the expressionless faces in his gouaches of sacred subjects such as Virgin and Child (1892) reveal Filiger's love of early Italian painting and the Byzantine tradition. Evident too in the heavy outlines and flat colors of his work are the cloisonnism of the Pont-Aven school and the influence of Breton and Epinal popular prints. Filiger's landscapes, such as Breton Shore (1893), share with Gauguin's paintings an abstract, decorative quality and rigorous simplification.
Röhm (R) with Hitler
1887 – Born: Ernst Röhm, German military officer and later the commander and co-founder of the Nazi Sturmabteilung (Stormtroopers), also known as the SA.
Following the failed Beer Hall Putsch on 9 November 1923, Röhm, Hitler, General Erich Ludendorff, Lt-Colonel Kriebel and six others were tried in February 1924 on charges of treason. Röhm was found guilty and received one year and three months in prison. However, the sentence was suspended and he was granted a conditional discharge. Hitler was also found guilty and was sentenced to five years imprisonment, although he would only serve nine months.
In September 1930, as a consequence of the Stennes Revolt in Berlin, Hitler assumed supreme command of the SA as its new Oberster SA-Führer, and sent a personal request to Röhm, asking that he return to Germany to serve as the SA's chief of staff. Röhm accepted this offer in 1931, bringing radical new ideas to the SA and staffing its senior leadership with several of his close friends.
The more or less open homosexuality of Röhm and other SA leaders (such as Edmund Heines) along with the stormtroopers' penchant for drinking and street violence added to the SA's notorious reputation in Germany. The SA was a political army, protecting the party leadership and terrorizing (primarily communist) opponents such as the Red Front. The SA's street-wise use of intimidation contributed to the rise of the Nazis, first in Munich and later throughout Germany.
Many writers have suggested Röhm and his deputy Edmund Heines allowed or encouraged the promotion of many individuals into SA leadership as a result of liaisons with both themselves and other powerful SA figures (for example, Karl Ernst had been a bouncer at a Gay nightclub in Berlin) in spite of anti-Gay Nazi policies which included the strengthening of Paragraph 175 - criminalizing homosexual acts - of the German Criminal Code of 1871. By this time, Röhm and Hitler were so close that Hitler addressed Röhm as du, the German familiar form of "you." In turn, Röhm was the only member of the party who addressed Hitler as "Adolf," rather than "my Führer."
Röhm's power soon came to challenge Hitler's own. Although determined to curb the power of the SA, Hitler put off doing away with his long-time comrade as long as he could. Himmler, Heydrich and Göring used Röhm's published anti-Hitler rhetoric to assert the SA was plotting to overthrow Hitler. The SA was purged during the "Night of the Long Knives" in June 1934. Hitler arranged to arrest Röhm personally at a resort in Bad Wiessee on June 30th.
Röhm was briefly held without trial at Stadelheim Prison in Munich in cell 70. Hitler was uneasy authorizing his execution and as a last act of compassion, ensured he had an opportunity to commit suicide first. On July 2, Röhm was visited by SS-Brigadeführer Theodor Eicke (then Kommandant of Dachau) and SS-Sturmbannführer Michael Lippert, who offered Röhm a pistol. When Röhm refused to commit suicide, Lippert shot Röhm at point-blank range. The purge of the SA was legalized the next day by a one-paragraph decree: Law Regarding Measures of State Self-Defense. John Toland noted that Hitler, while disapproving, had long been privately aware Röhm was homosexual but Nazi propaganda accounts of the purge made use of Röhm's sexual orientation as a justification of his execution
1949 – Jok Church (d.2016) was an American cartoonist who created the Universal Press Syndicate syndicated comic strip You Can With Beakman and Jax, later adapted into the TV series Beakman's World. The series premiered September 18, 1992[3] on The Learning Channel (TLC) cable network and in national syndication (225 stations, a freshman year record). On September 18, 1993 it moved from national syndication to CBS Saturday morning children's lineup. At the peak of its popularity, it was seen in nearly 90 countries around the world.
Jok Church was born in Akron, Ohio raised in Akron and Munroe Falls, Ohio and attended high school in Stow, Ohio. After running away from home, Church hitchhiked to San Francisco, California and began working in what was then called "underground" radio with news director careers at KTIM, San Rafael; KERS and KZAP, Sacramento.
As a co-founder and resident at Damian House Gay Men's Collective in Sacramento, Church "came out" as a gay man on the air on KZAP in 1970. He and his late-partner Adam Ciesielski were together for 34 years. Church was also the webmaster for environmental artist, Christo whom he met in 1976 during the installation of "Running Fence."
Jok attended the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights with Adam Ciesielski on October 14, 1979. Together, they recorded a documentary vinyl LP of the main speeches at the event. The recording includes the voices of Robin Tyler, Steve Ault, Tom Robinson, Lucia Valeska, Allen Ginsberg, Arlie Scott, Richard Ashworth, Florynce Kennedy, Charles Law, Mary Watkins & Company, Kate Millet, Reverend Troy Perry, and people on the Gay Freedom Train. Adam Ciesielski is credited for the photos. The record was released by Magnus Records of Sacramento, California in association with Alternate Publishing. Houston LGBT History (.org) holds an online recording of the record.
He created his comic strip You Can with Beakman & Jax in 1991 for his local newspaper in Marin County, California—inspired by a stint answering kids' letters for Lucasfilm. It was the first ever syndicated newspaper comic drawn and distributed by computer, a Macintosh SE using Adobe Illustrator-88. The comic strip does not answer readers' questions directly; it gives directions for creating an experiment for one to discover the answer independently.
His weekly newspaper feature was posted to his Twitter mini-blog page the week after newspapers have published it.
Jok Church died in San Francisco from a heart attack on April 29, 2016.
1954 – Gavin Geoffrey Dillard is an American poet, songwriter and pornstar. He is the author of seven books of homoerotic poetry, two anthologies of poetry, and several popular songs. He wrote many of the lyrics for Bark! The Musical.
During the late 1970s, as 'Gavin Geoffrey", he became immediately famous in the porn world of the late seventies with his starring role in Steve Scott's "Track Meet" - at that time, the largest budgeted gay film ever produced. Dillard was living in Hollywood, California, and his experiences there figured heavily in his autobiography, In the Flesh: Undressing for Success, published in 1997 by Barricade Books. Dillard's portraits have been drawn by Tom of Finland and Don Bachardy. Photos of Dillard have appeared in Playgirl and many gay publications.
Dillard is the author of seven books of homoerotic poetry, the first of which was published when he was 20. Dillard collected and published two anthologies of gay poetry, Between the Cracks, and A Day for a Lay: A Century of Gay Poetry. Many of Dillard's private letters, notes, and files were donated by Dillard to the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the San Francisco Public Library.

Allan Glaser (L) with Tab Hunter
1959 – Allan Glaser is an American film producer known for the feature films Lust in the Dust, Tab Hunter Confidential, and Tab & Tony.
Glaser was born in Norfolk, Virginia. While attending the University of Southern California, Glaser was employed by 20th Century Fox Television on such shows as M*A*S*H, Trapper John, M.D., and Dynasty.
Glaser ultimately became director of acquisitions of feature films at 20th Century Fox. It was while in this position he met Tab Hunter. The two formed Fox Run Productions and produced the film Lust in the Dust starring Hunter, Divine, & Lainie Kazan. Released in 1985, the film was a hit and landed Glaser a production deal back at Fox on his next film Sorority Confidential, written by Patricia Resnick, writer of the film 9 to 5.
Glaser's next film, Dark Horse, was based on a story by Hunter. The feature starred Mimi Rogers and Ed Begley, Jr. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.Glaser talked Hunter into writing his autobiography Tab Hunter Confidential which became a New York Times Best Seller. Glaser turned the book into a critically acclaimed documentary in 2015, also entitled Tab Hunter Confidential.
Between his feature film work, Glaser has worked as a production executive for several major studios.
In June 2018, The Hollywood Reporter announced Glaser will be producing a feature film based on the doc tentatively entitled Tab & Tony with J.J. Abrams/Bad Robot for Paramount Pictures.
Glaser and Hunter began a relationship in 1983 and remained together for the next 35 years until Hunter's death in July 2018. They were married in 2013.
1960 – John Galliano is a Gibraltar-born British fashion designer who was head designer of the French fashion companies John Galliano S.A. (1993 to April 2011), Givenchy (January 1996 to October 1996), and Christian Dior (October 1996 to March 2011).
He was born in Gibraltar to a Gibraltarian father, Juan Galliano, and a Spanish mother, Anita, and has two sisters. Galliano's father was a plumber. His family moved to England in pursuit of work when Galliano was six, and settled in Streatham, South London, before moving to Dulwich and later to Brockley. He was raised in a strict Roman Catholic family.
Galliano, who was shy and diffident, often spoke of his struggle to fit in. Recalling his early days, he once admitted: "I don't think people here understood where I was coming from." His mother, a flamenco teacher, would dress him in his "smartest" outfit even for a trip to the local shops. This, combined with his creative sensibilities, saw him frequently bullied at the London boys' grammar school he attended.
But he survived this to become one of the leading designers for French fashion houses, as well as creating his own.
On 25 February 2011, Dior announced that it had suspended Galliano following his arrest over an alleged anti-Semitic tirade in a Paris bar. The same day, Paris-based citizen journalism site Citizenside received video of Galliano on a similar rant in the same bar the previous December. In the video a drunk Galliano hurls anti-semitic rants at a group of Italian women and declares "I love Hitler... People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers would all be fucking gassed."
In 2009, Galliano received the French Legion of Honour, previously awarded to fashion luminaries such as Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa and Suzy Menkes. Under a decree signed by President Francois Hollande, the honor was revoked, due to the Paris Courts' decision that Galliano was guilty of making anti-Semitic remarks, which was published in France's official journal on Thursday 23 August 2012. Galliano no longer has the right to wear the French Legion of Honour medal.
Galliano shared his Paris home with his long-term boyfriend Alexis Roche, a style consultant. Galliano became a familiar figure on the streets of Le Marais, an area of Paris popular with gays — and also the city's Jewish community.
1969 – Colman Domingo is an American actor, writer and director born on this date. He gained acclaim for so many performances, and is a force to be reckoned with in the theater and film. His most recent role is in the revival of The Color Purple.
Domingo has played supporting roles in the films Lincoln by Steven Spielberg, Selma by Ava DuVernay, If Beale Street Could Talk by Barry Jenkins, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom by George C. Wolfe and Zola by by Janicza Bravo.
Domingo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father is from Belize, and is from a Guatemalan family. Domingo attended Temple University, where he majored in journalism. Soon thereafter he moved to San Francisco, California, where he started acting, mainly in theatre productions.
Domingo starred as Mr. Franklin Jones, Joop, and Mr. Venus, in the critically acclaimed rock musical Passing Strange, which, after a successful 2007 run at The Public Theater, opened on Broadway on February 28, 2008. He received an Obie Award in spring 2008 as part of the ensemble of Passing Strange Off-Broadway and reprised his roles in the film version of Passing Strange, directed by Spike Lee, which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2009.
In 2010, Domingo's self-penned, one-man autobiographical play A Boy and His Soul premiered Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre, for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show. He was also nominated for a Drama Desk Award and a Drama League Award.
In 2015, Domingo began appearing in a recurring role on AMC's post-apocalyptic, zombie series Fear the Walking Dead, as a character named Victor Strand. In December 2015, it was announced that Domingo was promoted to series regular for Season 2 of the series.
In 2023, Domingo will play Bayard Rustin in the new biopic 'Rustin,' about the activist's life. Produced by Oscar-winning American Beauty producer Bruce Cohen and Higher Ground's Tonia Davis, Rustin also features an all-star cast including Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Jeffrey Wright, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Audra McDonald, among others.
Domingo has been married to his husband, Raúl Domingo, since 2014.
1983 – Rostam Batmanglij, known by the stage name ROSTAM, is an American songwriter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist formerly of New York City-based indie rock band Vampire Weekend and electro-soul group Discovery.
Batmanglij was born to Iranian parents, and grew up in Washington, D.C., the youngest son of Iranian immigrants. His mother is cookbook author Najmieh Batmanglij while his father is a publisher. His parents are both Iranian and arrived in D.C. in 1983. His brother is independent filmmaker Zal Batmanglij. The two collaborated on the film, Sound of My Voice, which Rostam scored and which Zal directed and co-wrote. Rostam also composed an original piece for piano that was featured in Zal's film The East.
Batmanglij majored in music at Columbia University where Vampire Weekend formed in 2006. "At Columbia, I would study classical harmony in classes and I would study music on my own, and I would try to re-create songs that I love in recordings...that was really how I learned." The name of the group comes from the movie of the same name that bandmate Ezra Koenig and his friends made over summer vacations.
Batmanglij began recording with Ra Ra Riot's vocalist Wes Miles on a project which was later to become Discovery. They released their debut album LP on July 7, 2009 on XL Recordings. The album features guest vocal contributions from Koenig as well as Dirty Projectors' Angel Deradoorian.
Batmanglij is openly gay and talked about his sexual orientation in the magazine Out. In an Instagram post in 2015, he said that Ed Droste of the band Grizzly Bear influenced his decision to publicly come out.
2017 – Justin Trudeau, on behalf of the Canadian Government, formally apologized to members of the LGBT community for actions the government took against thousands of workers in the Canadian military and public service in the Cold War era.
From the 1950s to the 1990s, thousands of federal workers were fired because of their sexuality as part of a "national security" purge. Some gay members of the Canadian Armed Forces were also discharged for what was termed "psychopathic personality with abnormal sexuality."
In June 2016, LGBT advocacy group Egale Canada released a report detailing the systemic discrimination and issued a number of recommendations, including that a formal apology be issued by Ottawa.
Ottawa also announced that the government has earmarked over $100 million to compensate LGBT civil servants whose careers were sidelined or ended because of their sexuality.
Many pointed to the Cold War as the reason for the discrimination against LGBT individuals, with the RCMP and the military fearing gay and lesbian members could be open to blackmail by the Soviet Union.
"They were convinced that people could be blackmailed into selling secrets… that was the official party line adopted from McCarthyism in the States," Barry Deeprose, a prominent LGBT activist, said in 2005.
An RCMP unit was tasked with rooting out homosexual public workers, including diplomat John Wendell Holmes, who admitted his homosexuality and was quietly removed from public service in 1960 after being grilled by the Mounties.
The Canadian government went so far as to commission a Carleton University professor to develop a homosexuality test – a so-called "fruit machine."
In one test, subjects were shown pornographic images while cameras took pictures of their pupils to see if they dilated – the idea being that if their eyes dilated while looking at images of the same sex, it suggested excitement and therefore a same-sex attraction.
By the 1960s, the RCMP had a database of 9,000 "expected" lesbians and gay men working across the federal government. Sanctions for their sexuality included dismissal, demotion, denial of opportunities for promotion, being forced to live a double life and other forms of systemic discrimination, according to the 2016 Egale Canada report.
In 1969, the House of Commons voted 149-55 to pass an omnibus bill that, among other things, decriminalized homosexuality and allowed abortions under certain conditions.
"The view we take here is that there's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation," Pierre Trudeau, then Canada's acting justice minister, said in 1967 when he first introduced the bill.
Despite homosexuality being removed from the Criminal Code, discrimination against LGBT military and public service members persisted for decades, particularly in the military.
A military directive specifically banning homosexuality in the ranks was passed in an overhaul of the system in 1976.
In August 1992, the Ontario Court of Appeals ruled that the failure to include sexual orientation in the Canadian Human Rights Act was discriminatory. The ban on LGBT individuals in the military was lifted in November that year.
In October 2016, the House of Commons defence committee voted unanimously for the Liberal government to order the military ombudsman to amend the service records of LGBT ex-military members who were given dishonourable discharges because of their sexual orientation.

THE TOP 5 ANIME THAT I HAVE WATCHED AND REWATCHED THIS 2024.
5. SLAMDUNK
My number one anime before I rekindled my love for anime this past decade. I've thought that no one could match this masterpiece until I have watched the animes that were released from 2010- present.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/201687829860eb9b4e14ec1046e84ff4/92106981284da2ac-b1/s540x810/58a502821aeb9176adf0a25b1f15b25833605306.jpg)
PLOT:🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟
Slamdunk's plot was one of the most awe- inspiring of all time. The character development of the protagonist and how he was building his love for basketball as he slowly gets closer to Ayako (his romantic interest in the series), was exceptional. Although Ayako had her full attention towards Kaede Rukawa (Sakuragi's archnemesis), the determination he had to become the greatest basketball player through Ayako's eyes was very heartwarming and was just a pleasure to watch.
One of the reasons why I couldn't get enough of this anime was because of the progressive storyflow. Sakuragi just gets better everytime--- he never fails to surprise viewers with his amazing hidden skills.
BEST ARC IMO: The Hisashi Mitsui Comeback
A lot of 90s anime fanatics will agree with me on this one. This was the first time I fell hard 💓 with a fictional character---which is NORMAL may I add. Hahahahah. This was the plot twist that took many by surprise which also featured the ultimate anime love song of all time- WANDS' "Sekai Ga Owaru Made Wa" - a perfect fit as an ending song for an emotional rollercoaster arc.
ANIMATION DYNAMICS: 🌟
Straightforwardly, the animation dynamics of Slamdunk compared to the anime today are archaic. It is flat and you'd feel that these are just patched-up clips of manga panels with added transition. But hey, it's fair to say this, because the anime was made in the early 90s...to expect a 4D dynamics is inconceivable.
GRAPHICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟
What I like about the 90's anime was the animators' respect for human anatomy. There's a big probability that, since Slamdunk is a sports anime, it's just natural to design characters with emphasized muscles and appendices. Although it wasn't just that, even in just a still frame, an illustrator's eye can really tell that the respect for human figure is surely present.
REASON/S FOR REWATCHING- A fufillment of the afternoon-anime nostalgic phase, missing Hisashi Mitsui.
4. DEMON SLAYER
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6428ef218d0e9946ee6958f1791344dd/92106981284da2ac-da/s540x810/e5f6fb87122990168d292e6aceb976930d6f839d.jpg)
The anime that is fearsome- literally and figuratively.
PLOT and SETTING: 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟
A mini ick would immediately crawl-in if I had watched an anime that is based from old Japan. I mean the Japanese-ness ( sorry for the term, I couldn't find a politically correct one for this ) is a double-kill for me. Modern Japan is tolerable, but the ancient ones don't emit any appeal.
Demon Slayer is different. Even though the anime is set in Taisho era, there's a modern feeling that I get from it--- modern, in a sense that, there were super powers involved and the attitudes of characters exude certain freshness and humor that you won't probably see in most anime that are inspired by the old Japan. The story is about a young boy who wants to avenge the death of his family from a gruesome demon attack, but he has to overcome the struggles to kill BOSS DEMON Muzan in able to wipe-out the existence of demons in his world. Typical story, but the process on how Tanjiro does it, is quite interesting and had locked my attention for a longer period of time, unexpectedly.
BEST ARC IMO: Entertainment District Arc
I am a sucker for anything that is "visual-candy". The obssession I have with color, movement, composition, and tiny details is unmatched. Personally, I am a maximalist. A well-coordinated maximalist in real life but when it comes to what I consume, whether it's film, series, or anime, my eyes require orgasm! This arc has everything that I love, burst of colors, magnanimous intricate details all in one frame, lights, glitter, dazzling magical effects, groups of anime characters wearing majestic clothes and make-up-- you get the works. Irregardless of this arc being so visually exhilarating, it has the funniest yet touching and tragic story in all released seasons of this anime as if all those enthralling visuals has to veil a certain darkness. A lot of peole would say that Mugen train is the most touching arc, but it only places second or third for me.
ANIMATION DYNAMICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟
Because this anime has a lot of action and fighting scenes, I somehow expected to have a variety of POVs. But if my memory serves me right, the only arc that had shown me plenty of POVs and camera works was the Tsuzumi Mansion arc... The later arcs, although dynamic enough, had fewer cameraworks despite the number of action scenes these arcs posess. The latest one, the Hashira Training arc, even with BOSS DEMON MUZAN, the cameraworks kinda fell flat to me.
GRAPHICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟
I am actually on the fence with the graphics and character design of this anime series. The characters have a modern take--- with gradient hair, facial marks and other unique features that make each anime character easily distinguishable. But! The GORY-ness of the fight scenes of this anime somehow contradicted the cuteness of the characters. What I also adore in this anime is the detailed background. It gives a lot of Makoto Shinkai feels plus the 3D effects. I almost drooled over the first episode of this anime--- winter, snow-covered backgroud, yet the animators managed to pull-off brilliant 3D effects of snow.
3. THE APOTHECARY DIARIES
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/68dc150259ff78a2edff34bb2bd97ec2/92106981284da2ac-ed/s540x810/424ddf3f30b35dc1244f39476c6219e88a8667d6.jpg)
This anime reminds me of Fushigi Yuugi—- just with a protagonist that has no stupidity on display. I was so hooked with this anime for quite some time and now excited for the next season.
PLOT and SETTING: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Think of Imperial China, meets House MD meets Ron Kamonohashi. Set in Tang dynasty, Maomao- the main character is the adopted daughter of a former eunuch who had extensive knowledge in herbs and apothecary. Maomao learned this skill from him and is able to gain further knowledge in poisonous ingredients by baiting herself as a poison tester for the current emperor's favorite concubine.
This anime totally gained my interest, not just because it is an eye-candy anime, but because of the story as well. It's interesting how Maomao's knowledge in apothecary has unlocked scandals, dark secrets and mysteries that surround the imperial palace. The flow of the story was made in such a way that, if you had missed an episode, you'll find yourself puzzled because each episode is interconected with the rest. That's why this anime would definitely require your full, undivided attention.
The only little thing I could complain about this is, a lot of details and scenes are actually inspired by the real Imperial China. So, if you are going to watch this without some prior knowledge of Chinese history, you'd feel a bit lost because some events depict the culture of the people from the past. This reason alone had made me watch the Chinese period drama entitled "The Double". It was so well-researched, that it would make so curious, you’d do your own research to fully understand the series. It's why despite this anime only having 24 episodes, it took me almost two months to finish it.
ANIMATION DYNAMICS: 🌟🌟
Because this is a detective type of anime, with poison as the main culprit of unsolved mysteries, I, of course didn't expect it to be full-packed of action. The transitions and animations are actually so subtle, for the viewers to appreciate other factors in this anime like the graphics and the story. But, cameraworks are still very present, some scenes are shown in variety of camera perspectives.
GRAPHICS: 🌟🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Another eye-candy anime, the characters and specially the backgrounds are made so exquisitely, its easy to fall in love with every little detail in the series. Every frame is filled with color, composition and texture. Graphic-wise, this is my second most favorite next to Violet Evergarden. Visually, it's too captivating that I couldn't find the words to describe the fascination I felt watching this anime. The visuals are just uhhm, CHEF'S KISS.
2. SPY x FAMILY
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8b9d196af0b99b3747c894455ab02b4c/92106981284da2ac-17/s540x810/125aaafc63928e60832190f6d10514d381425a38.jpg)
I think it is safe to say that this anime is my "comfort anime". I can rewatch this anime for a hundred times and will never get bored. This anime is just very pleasant to watch.
PLOT and SETTING: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Any anime series that is well-researched, and is inspired by historical contexts capture my heart in a jiffy. Spy x Family is a great example. Because even with a sprinkle of history, it is shown in a clear and suave way that can easily grasped by the audience. Spy x Family is about an incredible spy who needs to fulfill a mission ASAP in order to dodge an impending war that's going to happen between two countries: Westalis and Ostania. But for the spy to complete this mission, he has to adopt a daughter--- and from then on, Loid's family would face more compelling but funny adventures.
ANIMATION DYNAMICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟
This is a well-balanced anime with regards to its animation dynamics. Since this anime is my "comfort anime", I can attest that every frame is a delight to watch. Diverse animation dynamics are present when it needs to be present, and subtlety is applied if the scene doesn't necessarily need it. However, I have observed that more complex animation dynamics are always obvious in Yor Forger's fight scenes compared to the rest of the characters’ scenes.
GRAPHICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
The consistency of the characters look in each episode is pretty impressive. Emotions are captured so well. Colors are warm, yet bright. Background setting are so detailed you'd feel that you are in Western Europe in its summer season. I couldn't complain really, the anime is within my standards, but what surpirsed me more with Spy x Family, is the presence of mid-century art pieces in Loid Forger's apartment. This anime had proven that the creators are so knowedgeable with art history and interior design as well.
REASON/S FOR REWATCHING : Like what I said, it is my comfort anime. I will just watch this whenever I feel like it.
1. ATTACK ON TITAN
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ced6f58ec33a68023ea2da4c3b0dc84c/92106981284da2ac-ee/s540x810/537aae4bdca374b502bb99cc6259f2aaf3a673cf.jpg)
Do we even need to discuss how GREAT this anime is? The word GREAT is such an understatement for this masterpiece. The very first time I watched this anime, I was in so much awe with the thought that someone could even create a concept or story that has never done before. This anime is the MOST REMARKABLE anime that I have ever watched in my entire life and that's not a hyperbole.
PLOT AND SETTING: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Set in a fictional, locked country-PARADIS, which is inspired by a town in Germany, Eren Jaeger had dreamt of liberation and an end to their everyday suffering (the return of the titans). His ultimate dream is to eradicte the titans that consume human beings so he can destroy the walls that serve as a barrier between humans and titans, and eventually gain infinite freedom. There are things that I just want to warn the new viewers of this anime:
First, this anime is too morbid, brutal, and devastating. It's not for people who gag at the first sight of blood and definitely not for audiences who want to end an episode in a cheery note. If you are an anime fan, and you think that Kimetsu no Yaiba is gory and morbid, AOT is 50 x more than that. Genocide is so common in almost all of the episodes.
The other one is, you have to glue yourself on the screen. Eagerly watch so that you can never miss a single detail, because every tiny piece of detail has a significant relevance to the latter seasons. This anime also, is presented in reverse chronological order, and contains plenty of memory linkages, so you should really invest a lot of critical thinking in order to understand it wholly. It's imperative that I schedule an AOT marathon once every six months. I always rewatched from the very beginning whenever there was a new released season. That's how englufed you should be and you would be, because getting hooked and addicted to this anime is inevitable!
ANIMATION DYNAMICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Because the characters require to fly in order to defeat the titans, let's say that there's 101 and more views and perspectives you'd experience in this anime. It's not just your typical ants-eye view that you generally expect if you are in the sky, riding a hot-air balloon. Its animation dynamics is top-notch. Imagine being in a roller-coaster! That's the feeling you are going to get from the fight scenes of this anime. The animators created the scenes in a way that would make you feel you are included (amazing, isn' it?). If AOT will be in an IMAX theatre, the experience is going to be so surreal. So, so surreal.
GRAPHICS: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
The only complain that I have for this anime is the inconsistency of the character design and the mega- bold lining of characters specially during the first season. This anime is not meant to make you feel light and happy, hence the limited color palette---from neurtral to inferno colors. There's also one thing that I'd like to address...the glow-up of Levi is so discernible as the story progresses, from cutie patootie Levi in season 1, to "my clothes look good on your bedroom floor" Levi in season 4. 💓
REASON/S FOR REWATCHING: I need to watch my husband (Levi Ackerman) from time to time hahahah, and to look for more easter eggs in the story. Yes, you need to rewatch this anime a lot of times to gain more clues and shocking details.
Now there is my top five. I only presented five for now because I'm trying to renavigate myself in the world of blogging. Blogging should be the MAIN thing for 2025. Social media should hit a reset! We are already entertained and we're tired of it. Now, let's gain more information and knowledge through REAL reading and share information through writing. Not just a single sentence--- but writing in PARAGRAPHS. Let your followers or viewers adore you through your words!

Delicious in Dungeon Anime Season 1, Episode 2 Review
Spoilers for season 1, episode 2 below the cut! There may also be mild manga spoilers so proceed with caution.
This episode was great! I think it was a big improvement on the first. Honestly no real complaints... I do kind of wish both Marcille and Chilchuck could have had stand-alone episodes dedicated to their character development, to allow for a deeper focus, but I understand why they didn't do it, and the pacing was still excellent. I do still sometimes feel like the show is in fast-forward at times, because with 3 meals in one episode, it feels like the characters finish eating, and we jump cut to them saying that they're hungry again, without anything to help really impress upon viewers that time has passed. Makes it feel a bit like we're reading a collection of short 4-panel gag comics instead of a continuing story… which, early Dungeon Meshi DOES have that as part of it's format, but it changes with time, as we get into longer individual stories.
During the Basilisk/Doni and FIonil section, I really do miss some of the dry humor from the manga. ("Hurry, he's getting cold!" "Move him closer to the fire!") The hilarity of slowly preparing a meal while someone is dying of poison has unfortunately been lost, which makes Doni and Fionil much less memorable characters…. But it benefits the other 2 stories in the ep to have more time so I think it was the right choice to make. It also gives people something to go back and read the manga for, since it's a little different! If you're reading this and you're an anime only, consider reading the manga while you watch the anime! I promise it's worth it. I'm excited about next week because I think they'll devote the entire episode to Laios and the living armors, which is me and my spouse's favorite early DM storyline, and the part where we both said "Oh, I LOVE this manga..." and got really invested. It's 2 chapters in the manga so it could be an entire episode…. which also would make sense, if that's why they needed to crunch 3 chapters into episode 2. Just like the first episode, animation was fantastic, and as usual the weakest points are when characters are just walking or talking and not doing much. Everything more dynamic is just bouncy and adorable and full of life. Very rarely is anything animated in a dull or flat way. They're doing their best to use "move a drawing around" or "zoom on a drawing" for comic effect and I think it's working well so far. There's some great animal animation in this episode, the bat flying around and the basilisk chasing Marcille in particular. Translation was better this time around, no dumb modern or game references in the dub ("newbs" "as if" etc.) … But there are differences between the subtitles and the dub script that change how easy it is to understand what's happening. When Senshi tells Chilchuck to cut up the giant bat, the subtitles make it hard to understand what he's telling him to do, and the dub makes it a lot clearer. In the subs when Senshi calls Chilchuck a half-foot child, the subtitles say "I'm not a child" and the dub says "I hate it when people call me 'kid'"… The latter is more interesting for keeping the mystery going for things that happen later in the story. If the show continues like this, I think the English dub may be the more satisfying way to watch it (even though the Japanese performances are great), mostly because the subs are very literal and sometimes miss things that the English dub somehow manages to include. And for some reason Netflix isn't including translation of Japanese signs on-screen during the subtitles, but they DO provide them when you watch the English dub. A lot of Dungeon Meshi's humor is sometimes in those background signs so completely missing out on them sucks. Anyway those are my thoughts for this episode! See you next week Meshiheads.

With Duke #2 due next week as people start to more openly debate Skybound's take on Hasbro properties vs. IDW's (this is not a debate in sales, retailers are claiming Skybound outsold IDW's comics at least 10 to 1), it's worth looking at the fandoms that developed around IDW's takes on Transformers and GI Joe (more Transformers, as GI Joe struggled with numerous reboots and attempts at making a more modern interpretation of the property before the license was yanked by Hasbro) and why they might not gel with Skybound's more casual-friendly approach. Ramble under the cut:
IDW's Transformers fanbase was one that was insular by design. Not in the "you need to understand this concept from a toy line in 1989" insular, or the "you'll be lost if you didn't read Simon'Furman's Alignment novella", way, but more insular in the concepts that they focused on. Bot-on-bot romance, usually between male robots (James Roberts flat out said he was going to write romance, and went with male/male because it was a toyline full of men). A very notable disdain for concepts that would alter that perception, hence the villainization of the Japanese characters and the Beasts, because many of the fanfic writers hailed from unironic "TRUKK NOT MUNKY" and "TRANSFORMERS SHOULD BE REALISTIC" thinking fantasy elements ruined the series (and a disdain for Japanese mecha tropes in general). However, as noted by others, there were also a lot of holes in the characterizations that were filled by fanfic writers. I'm pretty sure the writers knew this since their old fanfic spawned other fanfic to fill in holes, and they saw it as a way to keep the core audience engaged.
This in turn creates a very focused, dedicated, but ultimately narrow audience, and one more likely to influence the direction of the comics, either positively or negatively. The fanbase want more romance? They got it to the point that the comics were more about relationships than anything. They wanted representation? The writers baked it into the mythos although it has since been discarded by non-IDW-influenced work. And if anyone didn't like it, sic the dedicated fandom on them and tell them to go back to the Bay movies.
GI Joe meanwhile, from the word "Go" felt like something IDW didn't really know what to do with, with their best idea being to give Larry Hama the keys to resume his Marvel run from where it left off (and ignoring the quasi-sequel run from Devil's Due which was mostly made without his involvement). It was clear that IDW's writers and editorial cared far more about Transformers and even Jem and the Holograms (a notorious stinker in sales that went for 25 issues and a 4-issue spin-off before IDW was forced to cancel it due to low sales and never bothered to try again) than the Real American Heroes. Some of that might be because the idea of military comics didn't agree with the more liberal writers there, but I'd argue that they didn't really try, especially with the Energon Universe also going out of its way to avoid a stereotypical "MURICAN soldiers vs. terrorist army" scenario. This resulted in the eventual nadir of the brand, the 2016 relaunch where Skywarp was a member of the team because reasons.
The Energon Universe is quite the opposite of that, and I can see where the worry comes in from the IDW fandom. The soldier toys are important again in a more direct way where it's clear there's more effort put into them. Meanwhile, the robot toys are back to focusing on more universal concepts, like war, family in a platonic sense, and general action. That sense of control feels lost, and it is also introducing concepts that feel like they run counter to IDW's writers and their ethos, particularly ideas that IDW writers rejected whole-heartedly.
If I'm off-base, please let me know, but that's what this feels like to me. A group losing their perceived control over a license, and not taking it well.

Sega Dreamcast - Redline Racer (Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing)
Title: Redline Racer / レッドラインレーサー
Developer: Criteron Software
Publisher: Imagineer
Release date: 29 April 1999
Catalogue No.: T-15002M
Genre: Motorbike Racing
Redline Racer is what I'd call "factory-processed crap". There is no soul, feeling, atmosphere, or whatever you want to call it in this game. Ok, so it runs at 60fps but that's about the only thing it's got going for it. The whole game feels like it just dropped off the production line along with so many other mediocre games. You know what I mean, don't you? For example, when you play something by Sega, Capcom, and so on, the game feels like it has a bit of meat on the bones; whereas Redline Racer feels like the vultures have already scavenged the meat and left you the bone.
Ok, so I'm rattling on now so let me tell you why this game is crap. First, we'll start with the music. It's just so dull. What we have here is your typical cheap arsed Industrial electronic crap. Don't get me wrong, I love electronic music but the stuff in Redline Racer can be found in 100's of European-made games and it always sounds crap except for the original WipeOut. Next up are the graphics. While they are good enough, they could be better. Everything just seems so flat and unimaginative. The course designs are also quite dull and full of poorly thought-out turns. Most of the time I seem to be crashing due to the bad camera angles.
So, as you can see, Redline Racer is best left well alone. I have no idea why Imagineer picked up the Japanese rights for this. Maybe it was because they didn't want to stop their trend of releasing crappy games (^0^)

Sociopath Profile: Makima
From the manga series Chainsaw Man (2018-present*) and its 2022 anime adaptation Voiced by Tomori Kusunoki (JP) and Suzie Yeung (EN) *Valid as of late February 2023*
I feel that she needs no introduction, but I'll still do my best. Makima is the head of the Public Safety Devil Hunters Bureau Division 4. I don't think it's much of a spoiler to mention that she is a sociopath considering how many red flags she sets off from the beginning. Her presence already comes off as very domineering in a subtle way. However, the extent to which she fits certainly will be a bit more surprising for those just starting out the series.
[SPOILERS FOR PART 1 BELOW]
To get this out of the way now for those who likely have read the series, she is later revealed to be the Control Devil. Which really does explain a lot about her sociopathic tendencies. Sociopaths tend to have a need to control others, so it explains a lot about Makima's thought processes and disposition. She can control anyone she believes is inferior to her and that seems to be most individuals in her mind.
The only way she can connect with other individuals is through manipulating them. While it is part of her nature as the Control Devil, the treatment she got from the Japanese government to be trained as a weapon forced her to develop relationships based on manipulation. This can range from subtle wording and threats to outright commanding people with her powers. She is very versatile in how she does this. Her treatment of Denji may be the biggest manipulation of Part 1 with her stringing him along with a happy life only to rip it away from him for a chance of obtaining the power of the Chainsaw Devil.
"Any source of happiness you [Denji] experience? I'll be the one to create and destroy it all. You helped me kill Power. There might have been a way for you to save Hayakawa, but you killed him too. You even murdered your own father. Someone like you has no right to wish for a normal life, do they?"
As mentioned before, her main concern is herself. She may say that she wants to use Pochita for improving the world, but it's only her vision of what she wants the world to be. She sees herself as a necessary evil to keep everyone safe by ridding the world of things like war, hunger, and death. However, Denji exposes how selfish she is when he asks her if her new world would still have crappy movies. When she says the world would be better off without them, that's when he knows she can't succeed if she just decides what trivial things she deems unnecessary. When she tells Kishibe that her goal is to make a world that is safe from Devils after he suspects her of setting up the attack on Division 4, his response is quite succinct and accurate:
"You're full of shit."
Makima displays flat affect since she rarely changes expressions from the calm stoic front. Whether she is brutally murdering people or having a casual conversation, she never changes. There have only been two times where she has shown any actual emotions. One is when she watches a movie with Denji and cries when she sees a happy family. Likely because she knows she can't ever have that for herself. The second is when she cruelly reveals that she was the grand architect of his happy life as well as its gradual destruction, revealing how sadistic she can be.
Even with her lofty goals, Makima can engage in some pointless cruelty. When she recruited Angel, she made him kill the tribe he was living with simply to see how his powers work. With his recruitment into Public Safety, she repressed his memories to make sure he only had loyalty for her and never thought about his loved ones ever again. And of course, she definitely makes a show of ruining Denji. As said before, her laughing in his face about how distraught he was is one of the only moments of genuine emotion from her in the series. And what it says about her is that while she will destroy everything you love in the name of the greater good, she'll still enjoy it all the same.
All of this leads to the primary trait, a lack of empathy. She doesn't see other individuals as beings worth acknowledging beyond being tools for her manipulations or obstacles to overcome to reach her goals. She says she has affection for humans, but she has no respect for them and only cares because they love her. Aki and Denji both respect and revere her as well as have a romantic attraction to her. Despite this, she never returns any of it. Denji specifically is an example since she can so casually build up his happy life for the purpose of ruining it and driving him to despair. Never once did she see him as a person and only wanted him for the Chainsaw Devil which was trapped inside of him. Even Pochita, who she essentially worships, is seen as a potential tool to be used for her own gain.
Makima is an example who shows how the effects of both nature and nurture came together to end up making her what we see her as in the series. With her growing up under government supervision, she never got the chance to figure out how to see people as anything else. While part of it comes from her inherent nature as the Control Devil, the lack of nurturing plays a part in how she turned out. This is why her reincarnation in Nayuta is hoped to turn out better under Denji's care. An early intervention to prevent her worst traits from manifesting.

She has a darker complexion with flecks of blue scales peppering her face and down her neck, scattered around her entire body. In her mermaid form, Nadiyya’s skin takes on a blue tinge and her ears become more finlike. Her tail is the longest part of her body, ribbon-shaped with a narrow red dorsal fin down the length of her tail.
Nadiyya wears an altered version of the Night Raven Academy female uniform with a black blazer over the blueish-gray, gold-lined vest, a longer skirt, and the black and white striped tie. She had the Octavinelle emblem turned into a pin attached to her blazer while the ribbon is wrapped around her wrist like a bracelet. Like the rest of the Octavinelle students, Nadiyya wears the standard suit coupled with a matching pencil skirt. The dorm scarf is instead wrapped around her head with the fedora’s shell attached to it. She wears plain black flats.
--
Personality:
Nadiyya is a very introverted individual, shy and self-conscious…at least while on land. Because of how physically different her human and mermaid forms are, she has developed an awkwardness with her secondary form. Conversely, in her mermaid form–her natural body–Nadiyya has much more confidence and a more outgoing and extroverted personality. So, truly an ambivert.
--
Background:
As a young merfolk, Nadiyya grew up in the depths off of the coast of Scalding Sands, spending time both in the sea and on the land. At a young age, she discovered her Unique Magic while playing around with smooth shells. She had always wanted to explore the world above the waves. Her parents–both merfolk as well–encouraged her to venture around. So, once her admission letter to Night Raven College arrived, she went on to bigger and better things.
--
Abilities and Unique Magic:
Her species of merfolk has the innate ability to shift between mer and human forms at will.
Nadiyya’s Unique Magic is called “Porthole”. She is able to create a communication method with her magic. The efficacy of her spell changes depending on location. While in the water, it is at its strongest–able to use it whenever and with the clearest connection. On the land, she requires a smooth surface to provide a medium for her spell.
Incantation: “Clear as the waters. Loud as the break. Open the window to the one I seek. Porthole.”
--
She is based off of an oarfish
and loosely twisted from Saleen from Disney’s Aladdin TV series.
More information will come out in the future~

what’s ur favorite martial art & also what would you recommend for beginners
Saying mma is my favorite is probably such a cop out...I was introduced to jiujitsu first and liked that the best for a while because I knew more of what I was doing...but before my dojo closed I liked stand-up style stuff more. Judo was fun because!! cool flip!! but karate ended up being my ultimate favorite because there is absolutely no way you can BS it and once you learn the Thing, you really learn the Thing. If I'm standing on moving transportation, I still fall into kiba-dachi (horse rising stance) so I don't get knocked over, lol.
I'm no expert in martial arts and once my dojo closed, I did sort of fight-club style stuff in school where I'd see someone hitting the bag in the gym or doing judo and just sort of. Crash in. See what was up. Don't, like, just flat-out ask to fight somebody, but if you see people in the park or gym doing something that seems interesting, you can always ask what it is (however if you see a barefoot guy with stringy hair in the park and he asks you if you want to see the weapons in his car...no. Just. Not worth it, no). Bjj (Brazilian jiujitsu) has been more accessible to beginners in my own personal experience. There are moves you learn, but in the end if you're fast/big/strong/or wily enough, you can roll or wrestle or strong-arm your way through a spar without actually knowing a gazillion moves. But Bjj is not what I would recommend to someone who does NOT like close contact. There are times where the face and foot meets some pretty unfortunate parts. You get over the awkwardness eventually, but it can take a really long time to get cool with it--and that goes for both, whether you've got the parts down there or up there.
If someone was looking to start for self-defense/just good to know reasons, I haven't done krav maga, but it's been developed precisely for get-in-get-out scenarios. I only did judo for a short time, and voluntarily getting thrown over someone's shoulder to smack your whole rag doll body to the mats is not for the faint of heart, but you do learn how to fall and people don't generally go WWE on you unless they are inexperienced and think they gotta, or you went WWE on them first. Knowing a few throws in general is nice just to have in your back pocket. Street fight or bar fight, you not only will be the coolest person in the room, but you give yourself the upperhand to either a. run (personal recommendation) or b. if the situation is a must, beat the stuffing out of somebody.
So in the end...it depends on what a beginners gonna be comfortable with and what they want out of it. I got lucky and joined a dojo that was more "traditional" (everyone starts kneeling facing the shrine, the moves are in (honestly, butchered) Japanese, we could (though I can not personally verify, there are books) trace our lineage back to Japan, moves are equally spiritual and physical, etc. etc.) and it felt more mature and art-oriented. Some places can feel a little (or a lot) kitschy though, so if someone was thinking about starting classes, I'd do research and try to get a feel of what kind of dojos/gyms are out there. If the instructor wants you to call them Grand Master Dragon, I'd squint, because if they are properly certified, they'll be called sensei (teacher)/senpai (senior)/shihan (teacher of teachers)...if the martial art you're looking at DOESN'T come from Japan, it'll be different, but. Still. My former dojo was a leaky garage behind a sketchy Burger King and I never once called anyone grand master dragon hoo-ha-ha-ha. Also if someone tells you that you can be a black belt in like THREE years, that's sketch, bruh. It took me two years to memorize beginner's kata and perform it somewhat decently. Will it take everyone two years? Absolutely not; I didn't want to compete, I didn't immediately fall in love with karate, I had to do some off-and-on shenanigans. But if Grand Master Hoo-Ha-Ha tells you you can be Grand Champion Hoo-Ha-Ha in three years when people have literally DEDICATED THEIR ENTIRE LIVES TO DEVELOPING OR FURTHERING THEIR EQUALLY SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL ART, be sus, you know?
I'm biased towards Japanese martial arts, but there are tons of styles from around the world and developed throughout history, and if anyone even has a passing interest, no matter what age or background, I say go for it. It's cool, it's useful, it's mental and physical exercise, and I've never met someone who knows capoeira but MAN DO I WANT TO.
Thank you for instigating my TED Talk. Disclaimer, I am again, not an expert, and to be honest, not that highly belted (I'm not sure my belt is even still "good" now that my dojo is closed and I haven't trained in so long). But there are things I know now that I didn't know the first time someone punched me in the face, so that's got to count for something. If there's anything you learn from martial arts, it's that you can learn from anybody, even if they're doing it wrong.
Thank you for asking me something I absolutely have no strong opinions on, enjoy! 💪

Pastry Chefs and Flat Tire Flyers

Since 1977 cyclist/pastry chef Tilmann Waldthaler had been pedalling around the globe - clocking over 590,000km in the process. I found out about this guy from reading a small article about his adventures in a 90s bike magazine I was scouring through at a second hand shop—a bit of internet sleuthing later and I was calling up an Australian retirement village to talk to him about bikes, kicking back with Bob Marley and nearly getting gunned down in Iran.
Read it over on the Outsiders site.
On a sort of similar two-wheeled note, I recently interviewed Iris Slappendel about her busy life since ‘retirement’ from the pro-cycling world, making clothes, starting up the Cyclist’s Alliance and working as a commentator for Eurosport.
Read that one here.

MTB pioneer Charlie Kelly has been uploading some old issues of his Flat Tire Flyer magazine. This thing started out in 1980 as a simple newsletter before morphing into the first real mountain bike magazine, documenting the transition from balloon tired klunkers to honed Japanese machines. The covers are the best things about this magazine, with the limitations of the era adding to the charm.
The last cover is particularly good. Check the old Nike and New Balance runners to the left. Reappropriating what you can find will always be more interesting than forking out for whatever some ‘development team’ decided you should wear. Mountain biking looked infinitely cooler when there was no such thing as mountain biking clothes.

Here’s an interview with Charlie from a decade ago. Time flies when you’re constantly mithering people half-way around the world about things they did 30 years ago.

On that note, here’s an interview with photographer, rider and magazine-man James Hudson. From back-garden ramp set-ups to the big-top and beyond, James Hudson spent the 80s and early 90s fully engrossed in the world of riding and skating, not just as a rider, but also as a photographer and magazine-man—contributing snaps to R.A.D., editing SK8-Action and publishing BMX Now. This was originally printed in the last issue of Red Steps but there’s no harm in stuff being on the internet too.
Next issue of Roman Candle should hopefully be out sometime in summer. This stuff takes time.
Until then, here’s 28 minutes of audio mastery courtesy of James Ferraro. Been listening to this one a lot lately.

image of Victory Hall, courtesy the Seattle Mariners
Located just minutes from the T-Mobile Park, Hatchback Bar & Grille and Steelheads Alley invite you to visit Victory Hall. Opening on Opening Day celebrating the start of the Seattle Mariners’ 2023 season, Victory Hall is your launchpad or home base for Seattle sports.
Opening at 3 pm, March 30th, fans and visitors will be nourished by two full-service bars, with 20 beers on draft all from the comfort of a 21 and over, exclusive indoor beer garden. During your visit, you’ll be serenaded by Deejay Hershe with the backdrop of baseball (or other sporting events) projected against a 20’ x 11’ TV. Course, for those who wish to roam you’ll catch up on the game, teams around the country, from five 100-inch flat screens throughout the space.
Whether you're transcending between the indoor beer garden or the 1,200 square-foot outdoor patio, a breathtaking folding glass door greets you.
For those assuming this space is exclusive for the Seattle Mariners, the managers and staff have confirmed this will be an official bar for the Seahawks, Sounder, along with the Mariners. But like any sports watching destination, the televised games will change each day, with schedules posted on the Victory Hall website.
For those looking for an early start on Opening Day, look to the adjacent Hatback Bar & Grille and Steelheads Alley, which will be open at 11am.
While you’re there, check out Opening Day food trucks, Paella House and Isidro’s Authentic Mexican Food.
Reaching out to Victory Bar regarding the construction and what made this building so unique they shared the following.
Victory Hall is housed in a historical railroad warehouse that dates back to 1914. The 9,500-square-foot space features 18-foot ceilings, preserved fir tree columns, historically preserved wooden ceiling beams, the original exposed brick walls, and the remains of a painted mural that is believed to have been the exterior facade of the 1914 warehouse.
Luxurious polished concrete floors are surrounded by blackened wood walls stained to mirror the bar counters made by Pioneer Millwork using the Shou Sugi Ban method, a Japanese technique used to industrially char wood. The space boasts 10 industrial chic steel chandeliers custom designed and fabricated by Resolute. The cut-out motif of the lighting is inspired by baseball stitching and a nod to the Mariners.
Besides food, drinks, audio-visual entertainment, and two locations for socializing, Victory Hall has partnered with Apicii, with its best-in-class catering, for those wishing to host events at Victory Hill.
Besides this, the Mariners are opening The Boxyard which will feature an indoor beer garden, during Mariners, Sounders, or Seahawks home games, as well as concerts. All of this including Hatback Bar & Grille, Steelheads Alley, and the upcoming baseball and softball training center, await everyone. Reflecting on the progress towards creating an entertainment destination for Seattle sports fans, Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President Fred Rivera shared this.
We’re excited for our fans to be able to experience Victory Hall on Opening Day and continue to see The Boxyard grow. Our expansion in the Sodo neighborhood is part of our larger goal to invest in our community and help bring more economic opportunities to the place we call home.
Victory Hall is at 12011st Ave South in Seattle, Washington, next to Hatback Bar & Grille and Steelheads Alley. For more information including games, events, and hours, visit www.mariners.com/victoryhall.

If they're planning on basically creating more audio visual having a voice actor who could perhaps fill the role but not necessarily the best of the best of the best though arguably he totally is
There may also be a matter of image to consider word on the street is he's quite the rolling Stone and the boy trolling areas
Perfectly fine when you're speaking to the captive audience of gamers and you're mostly going to be behind the scenes
But with the movie and the park they are very much stepping Up as a deliberate family brand that is intending to especially as it's wobbly now dethroned Disney worldwide
You could argue that they already have but for the most part Nintendo is only video games and to a degree that puts them behind even other gaming properties and companies such as even riot or Microsoft
And finally yeah the guys getting on in years and he's had such a long tenure it'd be weird if he didn't have it apprentice or replacement or this wouldn't be at the time if they're going to rearrange deck chairs to be doing it
So probably have him as sort of the senior elder statesman who lets you know about their brand which kind of is how you started the first time I remember Charles Martinet and his particular vocal performance is when they were doing those head things on Nintendo display cases
And bring in either a new voice actor or very likely a trained crew so that they can give them distinct voices that don't necessarily evoke apprehension that was acceptable you know when gaming was young and very niche but if you're trying to mainstream you're very likely going to be put under regular mainstream expectations
Also speaking personally while I don't remember the super cake show this will be like the fourth or fifth time Mario has changed his voice for me I don't have quite the same this is the one way it's spoken with regards to Martinez as opposed to others have
If anything he's just struck me as a slightly more vocalized version of link who says ouch and Japanese and makes grunts and Kia yells
Outlying enough for what's going to seem such a big deal it's probably going to be such a small change likely more actual dialogue or spoken word maybe more gibberish our language
After all one of the breakout properties that happened this generation was animal crossing and it has its distinct linguistics as well
More importantly mi amoto ain't no Spring chicken either so very likely much as there have been many people in both design and development and ideas going forward with Mario behind the scenes very likely they're going to try to flush things out
Before anyone gets crazy I'm not thinking like but I don't think we're going to get anything as radical as family guy with Mario
But consider the various eras of looney tunes or even scooby doo
You can see very much the core aspect and how they change things but at the same time also see a lot of the drift and the development that's happened
Well many people like to talk about this retro ironic enduring version of scooby doo even by the second series they had guest stars Daphne for the longest time was the only main stay aside from Shaggy and scooby himself
And in the absence of Velma and Fred those 2 humans were remarkably fleshed out ditto scrappy doo. who now everyone must make the sign of the cross towards.
What we may be doing is entering the equivalent of the red shirt Shaggy era
Same well developed stick for a character but put in recognizably different scenarios brought in from different understood set ups
Mario and wonderland up this time? So maybe they'll do Mario and I don't know Escape rooms or
What have you they've got the character's iconic and smallest flashed out they have a relatively wide range within the circle of their flat characterization
This is when you utilize that so that you can put them in various situations and they'll create the illusion of depth because of how wide they made their experiences
At the very least when I was watching the Mario movie in theaters I couldn't help but think to myself wouldn't it be great to be able to play this game?
Moreover all of the elements are there or aspects have been tried in either main line or spin-off titles stealth sections
Arnie's All sorts of stuff
I think this is not just where they're going to mix it up but also consolidate in some ways
There's a risk with that but if they took some of the design ideas and decisions from saying the Warrior series not just the Warrior war games but the ones where Warrior does all sorts of weird puzzle platforming and slight metro Evania looking for loot and having something to do besides a rescue
Well I just think it could all work
But primarily I'm just happy that Martinez such a recognized part of the brand that hes been honored like this and I hope hes able to enjoy his semi retirement
...Whoa.
